You are Myon Uesugi, and soon you will begin to train under one of the 7 greatest swordsmen in the world. Only a day after finally earning your headband and becoming a Genin Ninja, you were forced to fight once more to defend your family from a fellow Ninja of the Hidden Mist. By remaining faithful to your father in the face of danger, you were able to drive away ninja's hired thugs while your father slew the ninja himself . It was a harrowing experience, but you all came out of it stronger than before. You know well that you will need such strength for the training you are about to receive.

You sit atop the grassy cliff overlooking the western sea, your sheathed katana planted in the dirt by your side. Watching the sun set over the waves has long been a beautiful sight throughout your short life. It is a calming scene that brings you peace, even at a time such as this.

“Myon-chan?”

Your mother calls out your name, causing you gaze back at your house. You see your mother walk over to you, her long black hair flowing in the warm wind.

“I made us another batch of tea with the new pot your father bought us,” she says with a smile. “won’t you come in and have some?”

“Oh, sure.” you say as you stand up and grab your sword. “Where is Keiji?”

“Your brother was restless, so I put him to bed early.” she says while stifling a yawn. “Both of my darling children have been so restless as of late.”

Your frown at your mother while hefting your sword over your shoulder.

“I am NOT restless. I’m just…. worried, I guess.” you sigh. “Are you sure you’re ok after last week?”

Your mother nods her head with a giggle.

“It was frightening, but I have seen much worse.” she says with a small smirk. “Seeing such terrible things is the price I chose to pay when I married your father. Now come along, before our tea gets cold.”

You crack a smile and follow your mother back up to your house. Sitting down on the floor in front of your dining table, you sigh contentedly while your mother pours you a cup of tea. Your days have been spent lounging around like this ever since your home was attacked by Zaigetsu Hozuki and his hired thugs. Your father encouraged you to stay home in the aftermath of that bloody night, and although you were hoping to visit your friends in the hospital again you instead decided it was best to keep an eye on your family for a while. Luckily, no one seemed to suspect that your father was responsible for Zaigetsu's death, who simply went missing one night in the foreboding mist...

Strange you think, how many people in your village seem to “Disappear” like that.

*THUNK*

You freeze up just as you were about to take a sip of your hot tea.

“What was that?"

With a hand planted firmly on your sword-handle, you rise up from your seat and silently slip out of an open window. Unsure of what to expect, you move to higher ground and quickly hop up onto your roof. Several seconds later, you swoop down onto your front yard and assume a battle stance!

Yet you are alone, and the field is silent save for the rustling of the wind.

“Huh."

After scanning the field a while longer, you grunt and turn back to your house. Only now you spot a kunai blade embedded into your doorway with a scroll attached to it.

“Is that a letter?”

Walking up to your front door, you give the kunai and the scroll a once over just to make sure it isn’t some kind of explosive tag or perhaps a poison trap. When you are content that it is safe, you retrieve and unfurl the scroll.

“Your real training begins tomorrow. Travel south along the coastal roads until you reach Kappa Station. I will meet you there tomorrow. Travel lightly.”
-Sensei

You reread the missive several times over, your concentration intensifying and your heartbeat accelerating which each re-read until—

“Daughter?”

You drop the scroll and draw your sword on a ninja in a white tunic. It takes a moment for your heart to slow down enough for you to realize it is only your father. His wide eyes stare down at you as he holds his hands up.

“Did I frighten you?” he asks.
“NO!” you shout back.

Grumbling, you sheathe your sword as your father picks the scroll off of the ground and reads it.

“Ahhhh, you are meeting with one of the Seven.” he hums. “No doubt you are excited."

“Yeah,” you mumble with a renewed smile “isn’t it great?"

Your father nods while handing the scroll back to you.

“Kappa Station is quite a few miles from here,” your father mutters "you may wish to leave tonight.”

“Tonight?!” you squawk. “That’s pretty sudden.”

“Indeed.” Your father drones. “Perhaps it was his intention to surprise you.”

You frown down at the scroll, rereading it once more before rolling it back up.

"Mom and Keiji will be safe if I leave now.... right?" you ask.

“Of course, I will stay here with them. You need to focus on your training without worrying about them. I promise all will be well in your abscence." your father replies.

Giving your father a smile, you begin to weigh your options. Do you really wish to leave now? It will be dark soon, and the roads may be less safe. Getting a good night's sleep will allow you to begin your journey fresh and ready for any danger, although you are eager to meet your new sensei as soon as possible.

You can hardly contain your excitement as you briskly walk back into your house and begin to pack. Your new sensei told you to travel light, and it is supposedly one a day’s journey, so you really don’t bother to carry much more than your sword. After refilling your water canteen, you are suddenly accosted by your mother who shoves a few rice cakes into your leather jacket’s pockets.

“If you get tired along the way, don’t stop and rest.” your mother mutters as she zips your pockets closed. “Its not safe for a lady out on the open roads at night, not even a kunoichi.”

“OK ok,” you groan. “I’ll be good!”

Giving your mother a quick hug and allowing your father to pat you on the head, you exit your house and hit the open road! The sky is dimming red, the warm wind helping to cut through some of the mist that normally surrounds this land. With a toothy smile, you wave to your family one more tim while proudly marching down the road.

As you make your way down the dusty old road, the shadows begin to creep across the land while the sun fades away. A few lightning bugs begin to buzz about, lighting your way somewhat as you stare in awe at it all. It soon dawns on you that you are now farther away from the Village than you’ve ever been before. Everything from the farm fields to your East and the widening sea to your west seems fresh and new. However, you try to focus and stay alert as you continue to walk down this road.

You believe an hour, maybe two, passes you by when the world around you becomes dark. The stars above seem exceptionally bright, but even they have difficulty lighting your way down this lonesome road.

“Halt!”

A man’s voice shouts and you come to a stop. Appearing as if from out of the darkness itself comes a dark blueish figure. His face is difficult for you to make out in the darkness, but with the stars hanging above and the fireflies floating below you are able to spot what looks vaguely like armor around his body and a spear gripped in his hands.

“What are you doing wandering alone at night, with a katana no less? State your business!”

You glare at the stranger with a spear, rearing your head up high and announcing

“Who am I?” you spit back. "I am a Ninja of the Hidden Mist!"

The figure lowers his spear and cocks his head, although it is too dark to see the look on his face which also appears to be obscured under his conical hat.

“And who the Hell are you?” you growl.
“…. HA!” the man shouts.

He plants the bottom end of his spear onto the dirt as he stands tall over you by at least a few feet.

“You really are just a girl.” he says, much of the fire in his voice having faded. “Out playing ninja eh? Well alright, my name is Genki. I am an Ashigaru in service to our lord, the Water Daimyo.”

His chuckling ends as he steps closer.

“But hey, its way too late to be out and about. Where’s your home little miss Kunoichi?” he asks again.

You can easily tell that he is talking down to you, and its pissing you off. Having someone threaten to kill you was one thing, but to have someone talk down to you like this is a very new and unpleasant experience. Sure, he seems older than you, but does it really make that big of a difference?

Gritting your teeth, you sneer over at this… “Ashigaru” as he chuckles to himself. You briefly consider drawing your sword and showing him that you aren’t just playing around, but instead you swallow your pride. This foolishness is getting you nowhere fast.

“Look,” you grunt. “I don’t have time for this crap. Take me to Kappa Station!”

“Kappa Station?” he echoes. “Well, hmmm….”

Genki leans on his spear as he glances around the area while muttering to himself. You feel your patience growing thinner by the second, like a candle rapidly melting under a fire.

“OK!” he cries out while hefting up his spear. “I could use the help guarding the roads. With a real Kunoichi backing me up, I could never lose. Heh heh heh.”

You roll your eyes at the man’s laughter.

“I can figure out how to get you home in the morning then.” he mumbles while leading the way down the road.

By your reckoning, Kappa Station is still quite a long walk away. Still fuming from Genki’s banter, you stay silent much of the way there until the boredom starts to set in. This Genki strikes you as a strange man; now that you are traveling close beside him you can see that he isn’t really that much older than you are. Perhaps six or seven years older, a teenager with tan skin and a clean-shaven face. It seems odd to you that he’d treat you the way he has considering how young he is.

What will Myon do now?

Your initial anger simmered down to the point where you felt you could speak to Genki. While walking beside him, you noticed that his gaze lingered here one moment and another the next as if he was expecting to find someone else like he found you.

“Hey, are you looking for something?” you ask, snapping his attention back to you. “Why are you out here patrolling the roads in the fist place?”

Genki looks down at you and sighs.

“We live in interesting times my Shinobi friend.” he mutters while rubbing the back of his neck. “From what I’ve heard, bandits and pirates have always been troublesome. Worse yet, we may have another Shinobi World War over the horizon.

Your eyes light up as he mentions the possibility of war.

“When I heard that they needed men to watch the western coastline, I decided to transfer over here.
This part of the country is a little too close to rival nations.” he grumbles, only to flash a smile at you. “But don’t worry. As long as you are with me, you will be safe.”

You huff at him as you continue down the road together. It was surprising to hear that the rumors of warfare had spread all over. The chance to clash blades with other ninja in battle made your heart aflutter as you imagined the chaotic battles you would take part in and the fear you would inspire in your hated foes.

Musing about it all made the rest of the walk pass by much quicker. Your revelry is only broken once Genki points out your destination.

“Looks like we made it back in one piece.” Genki says while raising his spear at Kappa Station.

Your eyes widen as you suddenly notice the wooden watchtower that lies ahead, stretching up several stories into the sky and surrounded by a ten foot tall wall. Several torches are alight on top of the walls, giving you the opportunity to admire the construction.

“Hey, its Genki!” your companion shouts while you two approach the gate. “I’m back early, and I brought a lost child!"

The gates open and a few men step out, the one leading the throng of soldiers looks to be twice Genki’s age and carries a lantern.

“Sir,” Genki salutes. “did anyone ever report anything about a missing child?”

“No.” he grunts. “Where did you find this…”

The older Ashigaru’s jaw drops as his lantern casts light on you.

“That’s no child!” he shouts. “Ma’m, welcome to Kappa Station!”

The grizzled Ashigaru and the few men that stepped out with him bow their heads to you while Genki looks on in shock.

“w-Wait, what are you guys talking about?” Genki stammers.
“FOOL! Do you not see her headband, or the katana she carries?!”

Genki gawks at you, clearly at a loss for words.

Once everyone at the post station becomes aware of your presence, you are quickly escorted inside and given free lodging for the night. No one asks you what your business is, and no one seems to have heard of your new sensei who should be arriving tomorrow. However, everyone is quick to ask if you need food, water, sake, a bath, anything you might want!

Its a little overwhelming at first, but you start to enjoy it after a while. It almost feels like you’re a clan kid or something. You briefly wonder if Kasumi receives treatment like this at home, which makes you a little more excited for your upcoming visit at the Kaguya compound.

“Madam Kunoichi,” an Ashigaru says while leading your through the Kappa Station’s inner courtyard. “We have set aside some sleeping arrangements for you.”

When the soldier shows you your room, you are taken completely off guard. This single room is roughly the size of your entire house! The fine linen and beautiful artwork you spot looks beyond expensive, and you even spot a golden rack off to the back of the room where you might lay your sword down.

“Ma’m.” a servant mutters, averting her eyes as she steps into your room with a tray. “I have brought you some tea.”

She sets it down and bows his head before stepping out.

“Uh, thanks.” you say to her before fixing yourself a cup. “This isn’t so bad.”

You had mentioned once before while speaking with your former foe Zabuza that you dreamed of gaining fame and fortune. Now it seems as if you have already gained a good deal of that, just by virtue of being a ninja.

“GYAAAH!”

A sudden roar from outside your room stops you from enjoying your tea just as you were about to take your first sip. Dropping the cup to the floor, you grab your sheathed sword and quickly step back outside into the inner courtyard.

“Touch my sword again, and it will be the last thing you ever do.” a familiar voice growls.

Your eyes widen when you look over to the gate and spot no other than Zabuza Momochi, the young boy’s fist clenched around an Ashigaru’s throat. He looks to have regained most if not all of his strength over the week, and surprisingly he has gained a massive sword. It looks to be a No-Dachi, so long and heavy that it must be carried on Zabuza’s back.

“What the Hell is this kid?!”
“Idiot! Its another Ninja!”
“Let him go! s-Sir!"

It looks as if your fellow student has arrived, and that these Ashigaru have managed to insult him just as Genki insulted you earlier. Perhaps you should step in before Zabuza really hurts this guy. Then again, your pride is still a little sore over what happened earlier. Maybe you could let Zabuza rough him up a little. Maybe, if you’re feeling particularly cruel, you could egg Zab on…

As you watch Zabuza’s fingers curl around the Ashigaru’s throat, you soon decide that you’ve seen enough.

“Zabuza!” you cry out. “Let him go!”

The boy freezes up, slowly turning his head toward you.

“Myon,” he grumbles. “you’re already here.”

“C’mon, let go of the guy.” you bark. “Whatever he did, I’m pretty sure its not worth snapping his neck over."

The two of you lock eyes and stare each other down until Zabuza releases his grip. The Ashigaru falls flat on his rear while gasping for breath, pushing himself away from Zabuza as he strides over to you.

“There, didn’t break a single bone.” he mutters. “Happy?”

You hiss back at him while gesturing back to your quarters

“Sit down and have some tea, jackass.” you hiss.

“Hmph.” he grunts.

You quickly trade glances with the handful of Ashigaru who are present in the courtyard, all of whom quietly stare at you and Zabuza. Amongst their number, you spot Genki from earlier who looks to be wiping a little sweat from his forehead. Not wanting to endure their stares any longer, you turn your backs on them, re-enter your room, and slam the paper door shut.

“What a bunch of clowns.” Zabuza growls while taking a seat on the floor beside the tea-table.
“Relax, they aren’t THAT bad.” you snarl back at him while taking a seat opposite from him at the tea-table.
“Whatever.” he grumbles.
“Ugh.” you groan.

The two of you sit in silence for a moment, scowling as the sound of birds chirping begins to echo outside. It would seem that both you and Zabuza stayed up the entire night to get here, with dawn rapidly approaching. Merely the sound of those birds is enough to make your eyelids feel heavier. However, today is the day you will finally meet your new sensei and that alone is enough to keep you awake for the moment.

With a sigh, you rise up from your seat and walk out into the open. With how vast your living quarters are, you feel fairly safe in drawing your sword.

“This is all a bit much.” Zabuza mutters while sipping his cup of tea.

“Hm?” you hum without looking back at him.

“This room. Not my style.” he grunts in between gulps of his drink.

You spare the opulent living quarters another look and grunt while adopting a sword stance. With how much space there is here, you don’t feel like you’ll risk breaking anything if you practice a little. For the next several minutes, you make a few basic slashing maneuvers with your sword, careful to keep your footwork in time with your arms as you seamlessly attack invisible foes. You feel as if you’re first few cuts aren’t quite as precise as you’d like them to be, but the focus you’re exerting is enough to get blood pumping through your veins.

It feels as if you’ve learned so much over the past few years. You wonder how your new sensei will help hone your Kenjutsu, and what kind of techniques he will be able to teach you.

You manage to keep yourself awake doing this for quite a while, until finally you hear a bell ringing outside.

“What’s that?” you ask. “Some kind of wake up call?”
“Don’t know.” Zabuza replies. “Maybe an alarm?”

Zabuza gets up from his seat and opens up the sliding door.

“Hey you!” Zabuza shouts while sticking his head out the door. “What’s going on out there?”

“Our sentries spotted another ninja outside the gates!” a male voice yells back.

Zabuza looks over his shoulder and looks at you as you sheathe your katana.

It must be him!

Just discovered this quest, and I have to say that this is actually a nice change of pace.

Every Naruto quest I've seen has started out in Hidden Leaf, or in the same year as the original series and it gets tiring going through the motions. Which is refreshing when we get something like the setting for this quest, which is in an underexplored area of the series.

As a character driven quest, it's basic but it establishes everyone fairly well. Myon is likable enough, with a firm set of morals yet isn't too bound by childish ideals like the Leaf 3, which reflects on the world she lives in. I honestly am more excited on where her story goes, along with the people we've met so far.

I just wish this had a more accessible update schedule, since I unfortunately seem to be dead asleep when this ends up coming on. But so far, you're going a good job Banzai, keep it up.

I wonder how hard reality is going to bitchsmack Myon. Maybe she'll get some cold dead shark eyes to match those teeth of hers.

She’s probably just gonna end up as bloodthirsty and brutal as everyone else from this Kishi-damned country

>"Sometimes that shark looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about her is she’s got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll’s eyes. When she comes at ya, she doesn’t even seem to be livin’… ’til she bites ya, and those black eyes light up and then… ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The battlefield turns red, and despite all your poundin’ and your hollerin’ that sharks come in and… she rip you to pieces."

Myon is going to be a nightmare on the field.

I'm happy to hear you've been enjoying it! Aside from my love for the Hidden Mist and for early Naruto, I've also been a big fan of the few of the other Naruto Quests. Jonin Quest and Konoha Clan Quest were ones that I followed, but I was hoping my quest could stand out a little if I picked a different village and a different time period to start out in.

I'm also sorry that I can usually only run late. My work schedule has turned me into a night owl.

Stepping outside beside Zabuza, the two of you spot about a dozen or so Ashigaru assembled at the gate. You can see from this distance that the man these Ashigaru crowd around is a tall figure with his back turned to you. Standing such as he is, your eyes fall upon his sword first and foremost.

“What is that?” you mutter. “Is that really a sword?”

You have over the years learned to wield your katana as a fine instrument, a durable and lithe weapon that you could effectively use to weave past an enemy’s defenses and cut him down. This weapon by contrast, reminded you of a guillotine; it is a massive cut of sharpened steel that looks to be as long as its wielder! You can hardly imagine how you would use a weapon like that.

“Alright alright, give me some space.” the tall man grunts, making his way through the crowd of soldiers.

The Ashigaru step back for the Swordsman as he walks further into Kappa Station. You stare at him as he becomes visible; he is an older tan-skinned man, about your father’s age if not younger, with short and spiky dark hair and a sleeveless dark shirt that clings to his slender frame. His arms are mostly covered by black cloth-bands which stretch against a little bit of muscle, almost not enough visible to suggest that he can carry such a massive sword over his shoulder. What stands out most about this simple-looking man is the grid-shaped markings and scars that cover his face, almost like some kind of tribal tattoo.

“Oy, you two.” the man calls out. “You’re here already eh? Well good, that means we can get started.”

He looks over to you and Zabuza with a scowl, apparently sizing you both up before shooting a grin that reveals his sharp teeth.

“Yup, looks like the gang’s all here. The name’s Juzo, Juzo Biwa. I guess you can call me Sensei if you’d like.”

How does Myon greet Juzo?

>Give him a bow as you respectfully introduce yourself

Considering how easily she ended up going through the exam, killing home invaders, and getting along with Zabuza after nearly getting killed by him, and still being excited by the prospect of war, I get the feeling Myon is a lot more bloodthirsty then even she realizes. Losing someone important like her dad or her friends would probably really hurt though.

As one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, you know that he is a warrior of immense rank and fame. After sheathing your sword, you clear your throat and speak.

“Greetings Sensei.”

You place your hands atop your thighs and slowly bow before him, silently holding the gesture for several seconds. It takes a moment, but he returns the gesture and allows you to standup straight again.

“My name is Myon Uesugi. I’m happy that we could finally meet.”

Juzo Biwa’s smile had faded when Myon looked back at him, but it now returns anew.

“Very professional, just like your old man.” he says with a slight chuckle. “Good, I like that.”

You’re taken aback, not expecting him to know your father at all, but before you can respond he turns to Zabuza.

“I guess that makes you the Demon boy eh?”

Zabuza does not bow as you did, simply nodding his head in reply.

“Sensei, I am Zabuza Momochi.”

Juzo’s eyes linger on Zabuza, bouncing back and forth between you and him until he clears his throat. Your eyes widen as he lifts his sword up with one hand and points it over the wall toward the west.

“I hope you two didn’t like the VIP treatment too much, because there’s no sake or harlots where we’re going. Follow me.”

Hefting his massive sword once more over his shoulder, he turns his back to you both and begins to walk toward the front gate to Kappa Station.

“Biwa-Sama!” an Ashigaru shouts, dropping to his knees in front of Juzo.

“Hey!” Juzo shouts "Don’t just run at me like that, I could have killed you.”

The lone Ashigaru, who you recognize as the older soldier who first realized you were a Ninja, bows his head low until it touches the dirt.

“Forgive me my lord,” he shouts back "but I must beg of you your aid!”

“Huh?” Juzo grunts. “What are you talking about?”

The Ashigaru remains on the ground like this as he continues on.

“For the past two weeks, we have been struggling to deal with pirates raiding the coast. They attack without warning and leave before we can intercept them. We are not quick enough to catch them in the act, and we cannot predict their movements.”

You look up at Juzo, who frowns down at the speaker.

“OK, well… where are they?” Juzo mutters while tapping his chin. “Can you tell me where to find them?"

The Ashigaru remains silent before mumbling back

“n-No my lord…”

Juzo sighs and shakes his head.

“Send a messenger to the village and have them send someone, I’ve already got my hands full."

With that, Juzo walks past the Ashigaru without sparing him another look. Zabuza follows quickly behind, and you follow as well while looking over your shoulder at the old soldier.

“Pirates? Heh,” Zabuza grumbles. “Why didn’t they tell us that sooner?”

You give Zabuza a frown and whisper back

“You probably scare them more than the pirates.”

Zabuza smiles.

“You two should get used to that.” Juzo mutters while making his way west of Kappa Station. “Some people see that headband of ours and coming running for help with every little thing. Others, they’ll see it and go running in the opposite direction. Heh.”

He gives you all a brief smirk over his shoulder before hopping down down from the grassland and onto a sandy beach.

“There.” Juzo says while pointing his sword out across the sea. “You can see it pretty easily on a clear day like this. That is where we’ll be starting your training. There’s a lot to go over, so let’s not waste any daylight.”

With that, Juzo seamlessly walks from the sandy beach and into the water. Without breaking his stride, he begins to walk atop the surface of the water towards what appears to be an island off in the distance. It takes you and Zabuza a moment of concentration to stand and walk atop the water as well, and with the waves hitting the beach you both get a little splashed before finding your balance.

It feels a bit strange walking atop the ocean like this, quite a departure from the sparring pool you often trained atop back at the academy. Stranger still is how you find yourself looking back at Kappa Station as it grows smaller over the horizon. A part of you hopes that the pirate threat that Ashigaru was talking about wasn’t as serious as he made it out to be. Genki made it sound like piracy was a fairly common issue last night, so perhaps it isn’t that bad.

Looking on ahead, you trade glances with Zabuza who looks to be staring down below the waves. There looks to be a bit of a walk between here and the island Juzo is leading you to.

“So tell me a little about yourselves.” Juzo yells. “I’ve read up on both your files, and know a little about your skills, but I’d rather hear it from you.”

What does Myon do?

>Tell Juzo about your Shinobi abilities, be honest with your strengths and weaknesses
>Tell Juzo about your Shinobi abilities, and perhaps embellish them a little
>Tell Juzo a little of your personal life and goals
>Ask Juzo if you all might come back and assist those Ashigaru later?

“Right,” you cough into your fist before raising your voice. “Out of my whole class, I feel like no one’s as skilled in the art of Kenjutsu as I am.”

“Yeah?” Juzo chuckles. “Not sure how well that's supposed to be, considering most of your classmates are dead.”

“Well,” you mutter. “Swordsmanship is... pretty much everything to me. I can pull off Iaido-jutsu in a flash, and I feel like I can finish off almost anyone with my Dragon-Hammer-Flash!”

“Dragon Hammer Flash?” Juzo grunts, turning his gaze to you as he walks. “You’ve learned how to pull off a crazy technique like that?”

You give your new sensei a sharp smile while nodding your head.

“Not bad,” he chuckles. "not bad at all."

Your smile slowly fades as you go on.

“My uh, Ninjutsu is alright I guess. I can pull off the Hiding-in-Mist technique as long as there’s water around, but I don’t really know much else.”

“Right, I’m guessing your chakra control control could use a little work too. Both of you are getting pretty wet back there.”

You briefly come to a stop and look down at yourselves. Your feet occasionally dip below the waves and splash water all the way up to your thighs.

“Bah,” Zabuza grunts. “I’m tempted to just swim the rest of the way at this rate.”

“Heh,” Juzo smiles as he comes to a stop atop the waves. “that'd be pretty funny to watch from my angle.”

Zabuza frowns back at Juzo, eroding his smile.

“Well, what about you then?” Juzo asks. “Let’s hear it.”

“Soundless Murder Technique, Hiding-in-Mist Technique, Water Clone Technique, Kunai fighting.” Zabuza replies while thumbing at the No-dachi on his back. “I’ve mastered more or less all of that, but this sword is brand new."

“Really?” Juzo smiles. “I’d never expect a Genin fresh out of the academy to know how to make Water Clones. Not bad at all. You two will do nicely."

With that, Juzo continues to lead you all toward the Island. Seeing that it is still quite a walk away, you decide to continue the conversation.

“I was born on an island far from here,” you shout over the waves. “but my parents raised me in Kirigakure… or, just outside Kirigakure. I’m looking forward to becoming a stronger ninja, and getting into plenty of more battles! Especially if its against those rotten bastards from the other Hidden Villages.”

“Oh?” Juzo chuckles. “Well I can promise there’s plenty of fighting in your future, I’ll tell ya that.”

You smile at Juzo as you follow him with a little skip across the waves, eager to see what the future conflicts ahead will bring you.

“So what about you Sensei?”

“Me?” Juzo grunts while scratching the back of his head. “Not much to say really. I was around your age when the Second Shinobi World War broke out. I got lucky in the early days of that, earned my headband real quick out of luck more than anything else. I trained under the last man to wield this sword until it was my time to take over for him.”

You blink at Juzo while he leads the two of you along, your eyes locking onto his sword.

“Its called Executioner, and its seen me through the best and worst of times. Passed down from master to student for centuries, it dates all the way back to the Warring States before our village was even around. One of you two might end up wielding it one day…. but don’t count on that any time soon! And don’t get any funny ideas, heh heh heh.”

You frown at Juzo and his sword, wondering how exactly he came to own it. That matter occupies your thoughts as the island draws closer…

Following behind Juzo with your eyes locked onto his sword and your mind dwelling on its past, you continue on toward this island.

>Success

Your gaze eventually drifts downwards to the water you walk upon. As you stare down, your gait across the water slows to a crawl. With the waves being less choppy this far away from shore, you are able to see more clearly below the surface. You notice that there is some sort of dark figure of considerable size, and whatever it is appears to be racing upwards toward you!

“The Hell?!” you grunt while hopping backwards.

A few seconds later, a massive great white shark emerges from the waves where you were just standing! Its jaws are wide open to swallow you whole!

“AW CRAP!” you shout.

“Get back!” Juzo grunts.

Pushing a wide-eyed Zabuza out of the way, Juzo swoops in on the shark!

*SHINK!*

In the blink of an eye, Executioner slices through the shark’s head. A geyser of blood erupts from the its body as its decapitated head flops onto the water and sinks below.

“Damn beasts love the taste of human.” Juzo grunts while hefting the blade over his shoulder.

You stare down at the water, which quickly reddens with the shark's blood.

“That thing was massive.” Zabuza grunts, glancing down at its disappearing body. “Do you see anymore of those?”

“No,” Juzo shakes his head. “but the blood ought to attract more. Let’s hurry up.”

“r-Right!” you shout, shaking yourself out of the sudden shock.

With that, the three of you close the distance to the island and hop ashore. You are feeling more than a little grateful to be back on land.

“You can consider that an early lesson in awareness.” Juzo mutters while you and Zabuza steady your breathing. “Danger can strike at any time, any where.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Zabuza mutters. “So now that we’re all the way out here, what other tests you got for us?”

Juzo smiles while pointing over at a small inlet by a rockier part of the beach.

“I’m going to teach you how to fish.”

(1/2)
>>
>>3090232
The first several hours of training with Juzo does not go as you expected it would. Instead of drawing your blade and sparring or learning the basics of some powerful new Ninjutsu, your sensei teaches you how you can use the weapons and tools you carry to construct a crude fishing net and how you can find freshwater to refill your canteen with. He then goes on to point out which plants you pass by are clearly poisonous and which are likely to contain snakes and other dangerous critters. This drags on for a while, and its honestly difficult to keep up with much of the information he is tossing your way.

As overwhelming as it seems at first, you sort of feel that you are learning something…

“So uh,” Zabuza mumbles. “what’s next?”

“Ah, let’s see.” Juzo scratches his tattoo’d chin. “Oh, why don’t I show you how to make a proper fire? Help me gather some wood.”

Zabuza groans as you sigh.

You keep your resignation to yourself as you begin to collect firewood beside Zabuza. Looking over at him, you can see that his eyes are drooping and that the tea from this morning has likely run its course. By extension, you suddenly realize how tired you are as well.

“Alright that should be enough.” Juzo says while dropping a log onto the sand. “Come over here and watch.”

Juzo takes a handful of leaves and moss, spreading it around an old log before brandishing a kunai knife and a rock.

“Was on a mission a long time ago with a couple of other ninja, all the way in the Land of Grass.” Juzo mutters while raising his kunai. “Was getting really cold at night and we needed to start a fire. Jackass decides to start it with an explosive tag.”

Juzo strikes the stone and shoots a few sparks onto the leaves, which quickly catch flame. He proceeds to blow on the flames a few times until they spread around the log.

“Woke up the village we were supposed to attack the next day. Wish I could’ve killed that guy myself.”

Standing up, Juzo sighs while looking over the horizon. There is a beautiful view of the sun setting over the waves, just like the one you watched yesterday except its even brighter in the absence of fog.

“One last lesson today,” Juzo says. “a history lesson.”

He plants his sword into the sand while the log begins to burn.

“A few hundred years ago, the Water Daimyo who reigned over this land was a great warrior.” Juzo scowls while his gaze drifts over the place. “The only thing they said he loved more than war, was hunting. So with ALL the money he earned from constantly fighting, he decided to create the ultimate hunting grounds. Gathering together some of the most vicious beasts in the world, he released them all over an island so he could hunt them as he pleased.”

Juzo gestures to the island you all stand on.

“After he died, there was no one left to manage the place and the beasts took over. That island, THIS island, became known as the Island of Death.” Juzo scowls deeply at both of you and whispers. “This island is going to become your bitch.”

With that, Juzo grabs Executioner, hefts it over his shoulder, and begins to walk off of the island back across the sea.

“h-Hey!” you shout as Juzo begins to walk away. “Where are you going?!”

“To look for pirates!” he shouts back. “I’ll see you both tomorrow morning!”

“WHAT!?” Zabuza yells. “Are you serious?! I wanted to fight those pirates in the first place!”

“Don’t worry, you’ll be fighting all night!” Juzo shouts as he continues to walk away. “Just don’t try to walk back! You won’t stand a chance at evading those sharks in the dark!”

Shocked at this sudden turn of events, you can do little more than watch as Juzo makes his way back to the mainland while leaving you and Zabuza stranded on the Island of Death.

“Son of a Bitch.” you growl.

Night falls quickly after Juzo takes his leave, darkness enveloping the island while the temperature steadily drops. A slight shiver runs up your spine as you zip up your leather jacket and draw closer to the small bonfire. Looking over the flames you see your teammate Zabuza, sitting in front of the fire himself with his sheathed Nodachi resting atop his lap.

“I get the feeling our sensei is back at Kappa Station,” he grumbles. “enjoying a cup of tea.”

“Hmph,” you grunt. “so what? We can handle a little camping trip.”

A feral shriek suddenly pierces the silent air as you and Zabuza jump to your feet and grip your swords! The two of you look into the wooded forest that lies further into the island, staring as deeply into the darkness as you can. Yet the light from your fire fails to illuminate the shadowy woods, and neither of you are able to see the source of that scream.

“The Hell was that?” Zabuza mutters.
“I don’t know… could it have been a man?” you whisper.

Zabuza shrugs his shoulders and sighs, taking a seat back on the sand by the fire.

“We just have to last until morning,” he says while rubbing his eyes. “that’s all.”

You continue to frown at the woods before taking a knee by the fire opposite Zabuza. Surviving till dawn seemed a harrowing prospect when you had no idea what you were up against. You stared at the crackling fire as Zabuza tossed a branch on top of it and kicked some cinders into the air. A part of you feels safer here by the fire where you can at least see what’s going on, yet you also wonder if its not making you stand out too much. Would it perhaps be safer to stick to the shadows, as ninja are traditionally taught? Your grasp of the Soundless Murder Technique is no joke, and Zabuza himself has mastered such stealthy tactics. Perhaps the two of you could find other shelter, either further inside the forest or off in one of the caves that seem to dot the island’s coast?

What does Myon do?

You sigh and shake your head, deciding in the end that it would be much safer to stay put by the fire. Then again, perhaps there’s a way you can stick close by the fire's light AND get to a better vantage point?

“Hey Zab,” you say while rising to your feet. “you about as tired as I am?”

He drearily stares at you for a moment before nodding.

“Let’s sleep in shifts,” you say while pointing up at a nearby tree overlooking the beach. “I’ll take first watch up there.”

Zabuza cocks an eye up at the tall palm tree you’ve singled out before giving you a skeptical look.

“… fine, wake me up in a few hours.” Zabuza sighs and lowers his head. “But don’t get any ideas while I’m asleep.”

“Heh,” You chuckle. “you sound like sensei.”

You make your way over to the palm tree, finding it to be much taller and slimmer up close than you imagined. You don’t really have much experience climbing trees; most of your training was centered around maneuvering atop water. Then again, it can’t be all that different can it?

>95

Breaking out into a run, you raise your fight foot up and begin striding up the tree-bark without missing a beat! Moving as fast as you are, you scale the tree much sooner than expected! Grabbing hold of the leafy green branches at the top, you swing your feet up over the greenery and peer down at the beach.

“Ha! Nothing to it!” you say with a smirk. “You see that Zab?”

The boy down below doesn’t respond, his head resting against his newly acquired sword. He must have already clocked out, or perhaps he simply can’t hear you from this high up? Regardless, you find fairly comfortable footing up where you are and begin to survey the area. As high as you are, you imagine if the sun was up you could even see Kappa Station from here.

The light of the flames is far reaching, casting a faint glimmer even upon you while you’re keeping watch over Zabuza. After a while, the cold starts to seep in and you have to rub your hands together just to keep them from getting stiff. Its a long time before you hear or see anything new…

>28

You’re starting to feel a little envious of Zabuza, who looks quite comfortable down by the fire, but that ends when you hear a rustling in the underbrush below. Straining your eyes, you peer down through this tree’s foliage and spot a figure crawling closer to the beach.

Your eyes widen when it sticks itself out from the underbrush, revealing the black stripes on its backside. You’ve never seen a tiger in-person before, and it truly looks as massive as you heard. Several hundred pounds of fur, fang, and muscle begin to wander toward Zabuza who looks to be fast asleep.

What will Myon do?

As you watch the massive Tiger inch closer to Zabuza, you realize you are in a unique position to turn the predator into prey. With a determined stare, you unsheathe your katana and slide down the palm tree with the same ease with which you climbed it.

>Natural 1
>CRITICAL FAILURE

You idly consider turning the tiger into a pelt before focusing entirely on the target. Just like you practiced countless times before back in the Academy, you shadow the Tiger’s movements while quickly closing the distance. With deadly precision, you decide to target…

“…”

You come to a stop as a sudden issue presents itself. Soundless Murder Technique is built off of attacking a human target’s 9 most vulnerable points: its liver, lungs, spine, clevical vein, neck vein, brain, kidneys, and its heart. Your understanding of this creture's anatomy is too inadequate for you to target most of those points, which leaves its brain, spine, and possibly its neck vein. You realize you’ll have to get a little closer to—

“GRRRRR—“

As you take a step closer, your eyes suddenly lock into the Tiger’s bloodthirsty gaze. The sudden sight of its narrowed pupils leaves you frozen in shock.

“HRRRRROOOOOOOAAAAAARRR!!!"

The Tiger twists about and sprints towards you! Reflexively raising your sword, you bounce back and adopt a defensive stance!

“ARGH!” you cry.

You’re briefly aware of blood spraying into the air alongside tattered shreds of your leather jacket, but only for a moment as your body twists about and you fall down into the sand.

“DAMNIT!” you sneer, turning onto your backside.

Gripping your abdomen, you force one of your eyes open and watch as the Tiger slowly approaches you. Its blood is dripping from its right paw, and looking down you find that its claw has raked into your flesh. Worst of all, you find your sword absent from your grasp and lying in the sand just out of reach!

What will Myon do?

The Tiger is nearly upon you, leaving you mere seconds away from a brutal end! Refusing to let your journey end here, you grit your teeth and clasp your hands together!

>89
>Great Success!

“Tiger-Boar-Ox-Dog-Snake!” you spit.

The Tiger prowls up close, and just as its jaws widen open you disappear in a puff of smoke!

“Body-Replacement-Jutsu, ack!”

Staggering across the sand, you twist around and see the Tiger rearing up on its hind legs and slashing down against the solid stone of a boulder you substituted in your place. The beast roars as it drags its claws over the stone with enough force to carve into it, even eliciting a brief spark or two. While you steady your breath and try to ignore the pain in your gut, you watch as the tiger unleashes its anger upon the rock.

It must not have eaten in some time to attack with such ferocity, or else it must be possessed of some unnatural ferocity.

“I’m not gonna die,” you growl while approaching the distracted Tiger with a kunai. “to some overgrown house cat!”

>61
>Success

A figure just about your size blitzes past you, nearly knocking you over, before launching into the air. All without making a single sound!

“Zabuza?!”

Likely awoken by all this chaos, Zabuza falls upon the Tiger and wildly carves into it with a kunai in his hand and another gripped between his teeth. The Tiger roars in pain as the boy hacks and slashes into its back while struggling to stay astride it. He’s definitely got the drop on the beast, but will it be enough?

You’re not sure if Zabuza can take care of the Tiger by himself, and you’re not comfortable taking it on with this needle in your hand. Moving toward the slashed up boulder, you sidestep Zabuza while he wrestles with the Tiger and begin scanning the ground for your sword!

>78
>Success!

It takes a moment, as its darker over here by the forestry, but soon you’re able to see the glint of your sword reflecting the light of the bonfire. Dropping your kunai, you reach down and grasp your blade with both hands before rejoining the fray!

>27
>Failure!

While closing the distance, you see Tiger roll across the sand and buck Zabuza off of its back! The boy bounces back to his feet and, with its first kunai embedded in the Tiger’s side, grabs the second kunai out of his mouth.

“Here kitty kiity.” Zabuza growls.

The Tiger, now wholly focused on Zabuza as its prey, is unprepared when you swoop in with your katana!

“DIE!” you shout while slicing your sword at its face.

The Tiger howls in pain as your sword grazes its visage, slicing into its left eye. You exhale a heavy breathe while preparing a second slash that comes too late. The Tiger rears back and begins to trot away into the woods.

“Ugh,” you grunt while lowering your sword and gripping your bleeding abdomen. “get back here! I’m not done with you…”

You snarl at the Tiger as it flees toward the woods. Having already been wounded by the Tiger’s claw, you decide that it is wiser to let the Tiger escape rather than risking getting anymore injuries.

“Gah,” you mutter while sheathing your sword. “I hate cats.”

Turning your back on the jungle, you wince and place both hands on your stomach. You grimace, less from the pain and more from the sight of your tattered jacket.

“Hey,” Zabuza calls out. “you hurt?”

“Damn thing wrecked my favorite jacket.” you grunt. “b-But yeah, I’m… I’m fine.”

You pull the jacket open and gawk at the long gashes cut through your shirt and into your belly. Dark red ichor continues to slowly seep out the open wound, filling you with nausea.

“Crap,” you sputter. “I have to put pressure on this.”

You turn away from the woods and bump into Zabuza himself. You look up into his cold blank stare as your vision starts to blur. Gritting your teeth, you recall how closely the two of you came to killing each other just over a week ago. Wounded and exhausted as you are, you briefly wonder if—

“Come on.” Zabuza grunts.

To your surprise, he wraps your arm around his shoulder and begins to shuffle you over toward the bonfire.

“Why didn’t you wake me up sooner?” Zabuza mutters.
“Ugh, didn’t want it to know I was there.” you mumble back.

Zabuza sets you down into a sitting position in front of the fire before taking the kunai knife that was in his mouth and slicing away the rest of your shirt. He stares at the wound another moment before taking out another kunai and raising it above the fire.

“I think Juzo said something about this earlier,” Zabuza says. “when he was trying to talk about first-aid. Said a hot blade could cauterize an open wound. Bet this is gonna hurt.”

You feel your heart beat a little faster as you watch Zabuza wave his kunai through the flames.

"h-Hey, wait a second, I don't--" your eyes widen as Zabuza growls at you.

"Let me make this clear," Zabuza says before spitting into the fire. "I'm only doing this so I don't have to survive on the island alone. That's all, now hold still."

You have enough of your wits about you to try to protest, briefly even considering taking his knife and doing it yourself, but before you can voice any of it Zabuza is already upon you with the hot kunai.

>86
>Success

“UGH!” you groan, shutting your eyes as you feel an intense searing pain.

Aggravating as it is, Zabuza only holds the blade against your open wound for a few seconds before taking the blade back. Stepping toward the flame again, he takes out another kunai knife and begins to wave it over the fire. You lean back from Zabuza, stuffing your hands into the sand and frowning as he comes back to do it again. Having already felt the pain once, you aren’t quite as anxious as he presses the hot blade on your wounds again.

“There,” he sighs while taking a seat on the sand. “just try to cover that up I guess.”

Glancing down at your stomach, you see that the bleeding has stopped. You don’t feel quite as bad now that you know you aren’t losing anymore blood, although the skin still feels very tender. As a bright side, you chuckle imagining what kind of scar this is likely to leave.

“There’s no way I can go back to sleep now,” Zabuza sighs. “I’ll take the next watch.”

Tired after that struggle with the Tiger, and having not slept at all for some time, you don’t protest as you cover your exposed body as best you can with your damaged leather jacket and lie down to sleep. You’ve managed to survive your first fight here on the Island of Death, although it was a little too close for comfort. You tell yourself that you’ll need to get stronger and fight smarter while you drift off to sleep.

The night disappears in what feels like an instant, as you slowly awaken from your dreamless sleep. The morning rays from the rising sun bring some needed warmth to your body, even if the light is obnoxiously bright.

“Argh,” you grumble while lifting your head from the sand. “what the Hell is up with the sun?”

You cup your hands together and mutter—

“Ox, snake, ram. Hiding in Mist Jutsu..."

Sparing just a tiny sliver of your chakra, you conjure a thin cloud of fog. Having given yourself a little bit of the cloud cover you’re used to at home, you rest your head back down onto the sand.

“Hey, you awake?” Zabuza asks.
“No.” you yawn.

Rising up to a sitting position, you look over to Zabuza while he sits across from you beside a pile of ashes.

“How do you feel?” Zabuza asks. “Good enough to fight?"

You peel aside your tattered jacket and gently press a few fingers against your exposed stomach. It feels sensitive and sore, but at least its not bleeding.

“Yeah,” you sigh. “I’m good.”

“Jeez,” a gruff voice echoes through the mist. “I guess first lesson today will be more first-aid.”

You and Zabuza groggily rise to your feet as a tall figure marches through the mist. When it comes within a few yards, you’re able to clearly see who it is.

“Sensei, you’re back.” you exclaim.
“End up finding those pirates?” Zabuza grunts.

Juzo shakes his head, planting his Executioner’s Blade into the sand and leaning his shoulder against it.

“Last night was a waste of time,” he groans. “but at least the two of you survived."

You and Zabuza share a brief look while your sensei hums to himself.

“Today we’ll start to build up your physical endurance.” he says without sparing either of you a look. “Your chakra control also looked sloppy when we walked here yesterday. You’re both probably wasting lots of chakra every time you perform a Ninjutsu.”

The two of you stare at Juzo while he cups his chin. After some considerable thought, he raises his gaze to the sky and smiles.

“You will both jog two laps, around the island and atop the water.”

“The entire island?!” you and Zabuza shout in unison.

“Yeah, just two.” Juzo says, now directing his smile at you both. “We’ll start out small. I hope they didn’t skimp on the cardio back at the Academy. Ah, but first things first. Let’s disinfect that claw mark, I have some pretty strong sake for that.”

“Sake? d-Don’t you have any medicine?” you stutter. “Or know any medical ninjutsu?”

“Nah,” Juzo chuckles. “that Medical Ninjutsu stuff didn’t even become popular until after the last Shinobi World War. You’d be surprised how many of us died a few days after a big battle from infected wounds. Luckily, I discovered around your age that sake is both a good disinfectant and a reliable painkiller. Now lie down…"

After a mildly agonizing lesson in proper first-aid, which sensei wraps up by giving you a layer of bandages and a few mouthfuls of sake, you and Zabuza follow Juzo down the beach to a less hazy part of the island.

“Alright, I’ll follow alongside you two from the shore.” Juzo says while pointing out to sea. “Walk a good 50 steps or so and start jogging.”

“Hey wait.” you say while staring at the blue waters ahead. “What about the sharks? Are we just supposed to… look out for those?”

“Oh, no.” Juzo grimaces. “That’s actually a pretty big pain in the ass, but I got a deterrent for that.”

“You hiding shark spray in one of those scrolls too?” Zabuza grumbles.

“You could say that.” Juzo mutters with a sharp smile.

Your sensei walks further away from the beach and on top of the open water. Pressing a thumb to his mouth, Juzo bites the tip of his appendage and slaps his hand against the water’s surface!

“Summoning-Jutsu!”

In a flash, the water beneath Juzo’s hand erupts into a splash of smoke, water, and a little blood! Stepping back from the explosion, a massive black and white creature suddenly manifests in the water as if out of nowhere. The sea-creature opens its fanged maw in what you can only describe as an excited squeal.

“Yeah yeah, its good to see you t—“ Juzo’s words fall short as the giant creature sails through the water and knocks him over!

“Damnit!” Juzo shouts while splashing into the water. “Calm down, I didn’t summon you to play! Off! Get off!”

The animal lets out another few squeals while pressing its body against your Sensei, who reaches up and grabs hold of it for leverage.

You and Zabuza stared dumbfounded at the sudden appearance of the sea-monster, only to half-heartedly hold your own laughter as it splashes all over your sensei. You may be laughing just a little bit harder though thanks to the sake.

“Nice pet.” Zabuza grunts.
“Heh, yeah. But how did you do that?” you ask.

“Ack,” Juzo spurts while getting back up to a standing position on the water. “that’s a lesson for later. Now get moving, this killer whale should keep the sharks away for ya.”

With the matter of your safety handled, you and Zabuza walk off of the sand and far out into the water. The island looks huge, but as you glance at Zabuza you can tell that neither of you are going to let the distance daunt you. In fact, it feels as if a race might be at hand…

The two of you lock eyes with each other as you begin to jog around the island, only to quickly break out into a run as you try to outpace each other.

“Hey!” Juzo shouts from the shore. “Stop splashing so much, walk ON TOP of the water, not through it!”

>90

Having been reminded by your sensei of the goal of your run, you both slow down a little and focus harder on staying above the water’s edge. A part of you remembers from last night you’re odd experience of effortlessly running up a very tall palm tree. In order to capture that same ease of chakra-control, you try to put yourself in the same state of mind that you were then.

It appears to do the trick! A few minutes later, and you find yourself vaulting across the water as fast as you scurried up that tree. It feels amazing how quickly you’re able to adapt with just a little focus, as if you simply flipped a switch. The only thing limiting you now is your own body, which begins to glisten with sweat under the hot morning sun.

>90 vs. 14

Looking back, you can see that Zabuza is not adapting to the exercise nearly as quick as you have. He’s definitely strong and fast, but he’s making quite a mess in an effort to keep up with you. The water’s drag is slowing him down, such that by the time the exercise has finished you have beaten him around the island by over half-a-mile.

“Ha!” you pant as Zabuza finally finishes. “That was… was nothing!”

“Bah,” Zabuza groans. “I’d like to see you beat me in a swim race.”

“That wasn’t really the point,” Juzo says, now much closer and standing atop the Killer Whale he summoned. “but hey, if I can’t make you more efficient I can at least make you stronger. It’ll be a rough ride getting you there is all.”

You give Zabuza a smug grin as he broods beside you. You already get the feeling that by your time training here has finished that your grasp of Chakra Control will have strengthened immensely.

Leading you back to the beach, Juzo raises Executioner’s Blade over his head to protect himself from the blaring sun. You find yourself taking a big swig from your canteen while placing a hand against your waist. The bandages are beginning to redden a little, likely a sign that your wounds reopened, but its not something you’re about to let slow you down.

“Alright you two,” Juzo says. “we’re going to start off every day with a warm-up like that but now with that out of the way, lets dive into some more serious training. Both of you, draw your swords.”

You grin while placing a hand over your katana and slowly drawing it out of your sheath, practically savoring the sound it makes as you draw it. Zabuza tears his nodachi out with little grace himself, hefting its long blade over his shoulder.

“In addition to cardio, we’ll be practicing Kenjutsu every single day until that hunk of metal of yours feels as natural to wave around like an arm. Let’s get to it. Attack me.”

You and Zabuza do a double-take at your Sensei as he swings his massive sword through the air with enough force to blow a minor gust of wind at you.

This was going to be intense.

The sparring that follows over the next hour can only be described as a humbling experience.

“ARGH!” you cry, as Juzo delivers a kick to your gut. “Son of a BITCH!”

“You’re pretty fast I’ll give you that,” Juzo says with a smirk. “But even if you sneak past the tip of my sword it won’t matter if you can’t land a hit.”

You grimace, clutching your stomach as you feel fresh blood seep into your bandages.

“Speaking of sneaking around...” Juzo mutters.

Your sensei twists his body around and raises his left hand, catching Zabuza midair just before he can perform some pale imitation of the Dragon Hammer Flash.

“ACK!” Zabuza grunts, gasping for air while Juzo clenches his throat.

“Did you pick a big heavy sword like that, because you thought you could get by with just waving it around like a club?” Juzo sneers. “Soundless Murder Technique’s no good when you’re opponent can predict your attacks. I’m going to have to beat some grace into you!”

With that, Juzo raises Zabuza up higher and tosses him through the air—straight for you!

>69
>Lewdlock Engaged

Still distracted by your own pain, you’re unable to move out of the way in time! Zabuza crashes into you and you both crumple into the sand together.

“Ugh…” you shudder, your vision blurry as your teammate rests on top of you. “… get offa me.”

When your vision clears up, you find Zabuza lying face-first atop your flat chest.

“ZABUZA!” you scream.

“ARGH!” replies, his roar muffled by your flesh.

Shoving his fists into the sand, his face off of your non-existent bosom and glares into your eyes.

"Ow, I thought these things were supposed to be soft.” Zabuza mutters.

You hiss at him as you raise up your sword and slam its pommel into his nose.

“What the Hell?!” he shouts, staggering up to his feet while clutching his face. "WHY?!"

“You pervert!” you cry. “I’LL KILL YOU!”

Juzo sighs, rubbing his forehead.

“OK, I need a break.” He grunts while driving his sword into the sand. “But let me see your sword first Myon.”

You shakily rise to your feet and toss your sword to Sensei, taking the opportunity to zip up your jacket while the rest of your team is distracted.

“I noticed you tried to nail me more than once with Iaido-jutsu while we were fighting,” he says while experimentally weighing your sword. “I know a way you could’ve hit me, even after I blocked those attacks.”

Staring up at Juzo, you shelve your embarrassment for now and watch as your Sensei bends his knees and lowers your sword to his side.

“When its kill-or-be-killed, you find ways to use every possible thing you can grab as a weapon. If you gotta kill someone by busting their heads open with a rock, so be it. So if you find you miss with your sword—“

Juzo draws your blade in a flash! You barely register the sight of it as he slashes just above your head.

“—hit him with the stick.”

“The what?” you blink at the blade hovering above your eyes. “Ah!”

You flinch as Juzo swings your sheath, stopping mid-swing with the wooden scabbard just inches from your eye.

“Heh,” Juzo chuckles while sheathing your sword once more. “it won’t do as much damage as a sword strike yeah, but hit him hard enough with the scabbard and you could break a bone or even crack the skull. All you gotta do is make sure you keep your balance even after you miss with the sword."

He drops your sword back into your hands as you replay his maneuver in your head again. You’d heard of some swordsmen defending themselves with the sheathe of their swords, but you never considered using it offensively in conjunction with the sword. You mull over the technique and visualize yourself using it in battle, all while reckoning just how much you’ll improve at your current pace. Juzo is definitely a very demanding sensei, but you feel that you are slowly learning a lot.

>By the end of Myon’s training, she’ll have advanced her Iaido-Draw-Jutsu with the ability to incorporate her sheath as a weapon! Now if she ever misses with an Iaido-Draw slash, there’s a chance she’ll still be able to hit her foe with the sheath of her sword!

Pft. Well I guess Banzai does do Lewd Crits. RIP Zabu's Nose.

Hrm, now obviously we need to add a hard iron lining to our scabbard, and make sure the scabbard point is sharp, so whenever we learn chakra flow it can act as a second sword instead of a club.
>>
After fooling around with your sword and sheath for a short while, Juzo decides that your break is over with and calls you and Zabuza back over.

“Put the swords away now.” he mutters, while hiding what appears to be the bottle of sake he used on you earlier. “We’ll continue Kenjutsu training tomorrow, for now we’ll move onto Ninjutsu.”

Your sensei gives Zabuza an odd look while he frowns back with a bloody nose.

“I was thinking I’d start out by teaching you both Water Clone jutsu, but I didn’t count on you already knowing the technique.”

Zabuza smiles as blood drips down to his lip.

“Oh well, its not like that’s the only special jutsu in our village.” he sighs. “I’m sure by now you’ve both seen all kinds of techniques. When we leave the Land of Water, you’ll find there are many hundreds if not thousands of jutsus and many of them are unique to their village and their element alone. They say that Ninja from Konoha are able to create clones that can fight in combat as well.”

You frown at your Sensei as well, recalling how Konoha and the Land of Fire were serious foes of your people in the last big war.

“So they can make clones out of something other than water?” you ask while lifting an eyebrow.

“My guess is that they are elementally composed of Fire somehow, but I haven’t seen the technique enough to know for sure.” Your sensei mutters.

You suppose that makes sense, considering they are Ninja from the Land of Fire. While you dwell on how the Elements factor into Ninjutsu, Juzo begins to go over a few new basic techniques he can train you in…

What does Myon want to learn?

You quietly listen while your sensei mulls over various jutsu that he’d be willing to teach you, although one of them stands out above the rest. The Hiding-in-Water technique is a jutsu you’ve seen before, as your Big Sis Junko has used it multiple times. It is a Ninjutsu that compliments the art of Soundless Murder quite well, allowing its user many more opportunities for hiding from and spying on unsuspecting foes. It took Big Sis some time to really get a good grasp of the technique, but you’re hoping that with one of the Seven as your teacher that you’ll be able to learn it quicker.

“I want to learn it as well.” Zabuza says. “Being able to hide any place where there’s a puddle sounds quite useful.”

Juzo nods his head.

“Good, we’re in agreement then.” Sensei smirks. “Saves me the trouble of having to give the same lesson twice. Now follow me into the sea, and drop anything you don’t want getting wet.”

Following behind him, you and Zabuza take a dip into the water all the way up to your thighs while Sensei teaches you the correct hand signs and how exactly to focus the chakra. It turns out to be a much more complicated maneuver compared to any other ninjutsu you know, but you are slowly understanding the theory of how it works. Perhaps in time, you’ll be able to actually put that theory into practice.

Eventually, the sun begins to set once more. You and your partner Zabuza are left feeling physically and mentally exhausted, which is troublesome as your sensei is quick to remind you both that the beasts that dwell on the island will grow bold over the cover of darkness. This time the two of you build a bonfire on your own, and do so quickly enough for Juzo to see before he even leaves. You swear that brings a small smile to his lips.

“Looks like we’ve got a routine settled then.” He says while sitting in front of the fire, his back against his massive sword. “Endurance training, followed by Kenjutsu then Ninjutsu. And of course, survival training at night.”

“Heh, right.” Zabuza adds while tossing a stick into the flames. “And what are your plans tonight while Myon and I fight for our lives?”

Juzo frowns while staring at the bonfire.

“I suppose go looking for those pirates, there’s really nothing better I can be doing.”

You frown as well while hovering your hands over the fire.

“Why the sudden change of heart?” you ask. “You were pretty clear about not wanting to help them yesterday.”

“Hmph, well it’d probably help us all out if I killed some pirates.” he grunts while rising to his feet. “Less scum ruining the sea-borders the better off we’ll be when this war kicks off. That’s part of the reason I dragged us all the way out here, for the war.”

You and Zabuza turn away from the fire to stare at your sensei.

“My loyalty is to the Village Hidden in the Mist and the Land of Water, the stronger you both are the more help you’ll be when the fighting gets serious.” He says while hefting his blade over his shoulder. “You two may not like what I’m putting you through, but you don’t have to. This whole thing is a lot bigger than either of you, we ninja are all apart of something bigger than ourselves. Even me, one of the 7 Swordsmen, know that.”

You can see that your sensei is about to take his leave, but you rise up to your feet before he can get far.

“I’ve been looking forward to this war as soon as I heard about it!” you exclaim. “I can’t wait to see real combat, especially if it means avenging our land. Screw those other villages, I’m going to live to see the Land of Water rise above them all!”

Zabuza grunts, standing up as well.

“I can’t wait either,” Zab sneers. “a chance to prove my strength and earn the respect I deserve. I’ll stomp as many of our village’s foes into paste as it takes. Heh, I’ll probably have fun while I’m at it.”

Juzo glances back and forth between the two of you before chortling.

“Fine, just try not to die while I’m gone will ya?” Juzo sighs while turning away and walking toward the setting sun over the sea.

So it was, that the three of you spent your time on the Island of Death. The exhausting days and harrowing nights began to blend in with one another. Occasionally, you felt a longing to see your friends and family once more but through it all your desire to fight, to avenge your homeland, and to become strong enough to protect it all carried you onward. By the time a month had passed, you had mastered the variation of the Iaido-Draw-Jutsu and had learned how to use the Hiding-in-Water technique to its full effect. Your partner Zabuza had also grown quite strong, becoming a deadly force in his own right with that Nodachi of his. All that really remained was to see how you would perform when the time came for you to undertake your first mission together.

That time was drawing near…

>>
>>3100465
no, you can't just reroll if you want a different result. did you ever play board games with people as a kid and reroll if you would have landed on their hotel?

>>3100487
Flat is shit, shit, shiiiiiiiiit
>>
So to summarize
Myon is flat because she autistically trains and not drinking milk unlike Junko.
Junko on the other hand is getting bigger probably on the way being a seduction ninja who fucks enemy for information.
Zabusa which is the wielder of a fucking big sword is compensating for his lack of manly assets.

Well I can deal with that. From now on this is officially canon....with the exception of Junko being a slut.

Junko probably smokes in bed the cretin
>>
>>3101396
I can imagine that the enemy covers her face with his hands embarrassed because he gave up information so easily while Junko lies in bed naked smoking casually with his cigarettes then killing the enemy with her kunai and left casually.

So, I was thinking about sword designs for Myon since almost all of the swords of the mist are really dumb looking.

An idea I had was a katana with a shallow fuller along both sides of the blade that hold water (or blood). With training, the user can use that liquid on the blade for a variety of effects. A quick slash may shoot out a long range slash of water, or maybe an Iado draw could extend the water to the tip of the sword to effectively double its length to the surprise of any enemies.

It’s a simple idea, but I like the idea of Myon getting her own sword.

Zabuza is so manly he was born without nipples
>>
>>3101872
So manly he was born without a dick
>>
>>3103222
so manly he has to get the biggest sword in the mist
>>
>>3101620
myon getting autistic about sword making and ending up making one sword that rivals the seven would be a great arc, but that'll have to come up organically.

I've gone ahead and archived this thread, I'll likely start a new one later tonight.

At the moment, Myon doesn't possess much knowledge of sword-smithing but if that's something she's interested in picking up in the future I can find ways to make it possible.

Banzai how canon is the anon rolls here about Myon, Zabusa, Junko and Kasumi sizes?

None of them are very canon at the moment, on account of everyone being about 10-13 years old.

Several years or more down the line though.. Junko being stacked D Cup and Kasumi being modest B Cup sounds more or less what I imagined. Junko being the inverse at an A sounds amusing though. I think the jury's still out on Myon and Zab.

Size-compensating theme for angry Mist Nin

not that because they are 10-13 years old but when they are older say...shippuden arc.

New thread is a go!

>>3105234
Heh, Shipudden arc is still a long ways ahead from now. All these characters still need to survive to see that Timeskip
