The Palanquin travels at sublight speeds surrounded by the fleet that would assist it. They merely waited for Valresko's signal to jump past the lightspeed barrier to join the assault against the Dynasty when it was their turn. Already the Think Tanks report that the first strike fleets were rapidly nearing their targets, the Reconstructed on board bristling with barely contained excitement in their simple minds.

Necromancers hand-picked by Lich Ruscuv sat in a circle facing outwards, each in a meditative state, several floating motes of sickly green light between their palms or above their brows in concentration. They were alone in the chamber, darkness enshrouding them beyond what lights they could summon themselves.

A voice creeps into their skulls, the symbiots connected to their nervous systems relaying the words whispered to them <Take heed, my dear students. The old Necrotic Armada would find your skills, regrettably, undertrained. My brother, blessed He be, has not had the time to properly train you, His new Armada needing your skills as they were.>

The Necromancers shift slightly, hearing the Wormtongue whispering in their minds, <First Necromancer Jor has done the best he could to train you, even when his own has been lacking. I do not fault him, nor Lord Jadyk, for your inexperience. Now, the responsibility of your might falls to me, to teach you how those Necromancers of the Grand Necrotic Armada once waged war in the name of the Wormstar.>

"We are ready," one of the Necromancers says into the darkness of the chamber.

<Not yet you aren't. Your skills are each impressive for your age and training, but you are merely swinging your talents around like a Troll swinging a club. Through my tutelage you shall learn how to wield them with a surgeons grace and precision, with the ferocity of a hurricane.>

"We are eager to learn," says another.

The voice chuckles darkly in their minds, <That you are. Be thankful you were found by Lord Jadyk and the First Necromancer. Without their guidance you would have become Pariahs and become an enemy of ours. Rejoice in the gift of Necromancy, for it is your salvation.>

"Pariahs?" questions another.

Before their sightless vision a specter of the hulking form of Ruscuv appears before them with humanoid hands clasped before her, <Fear not their curse. You have been saved. They were a -blight- upon the Grand Necrotic Armada, but through our teachings you are saved. Worry not about them, they are a threat best left forgotten in the sands of time.>

The psionic image, a reflection of how the Necromancers knew her before her recent Reconstruction rather than her current shape, leans in toward them, each receiving this vision, <But let us not speak of such profane and taboo subjects, let us speak of glorious Conquest and the abilities you shall learn. There is much to teach you and much to tend to.>

<Let us begin>

Captain Troma shouts out an ancient curse as he is tackled by a nimble ghoul that managed to bound past the flames, the deceptively strong, lithe human gnawing at their forearm as they seek out gaps in the armor. The momentum caused the netu to stagger down onto one knee as they brought their lesser arms up, their paired blasters opening fire point blank against the ghouls torso leaving a smoking crater where its chest used to be. By the time he tries to cast aside the undead another ghoul leaps and tackles him, claws raking across their armor leaving furrows. There was a snarling cry as another two rush in toward him ignoring the bullets or blades that struck at them as they focused on the vulnerable captain.

Panic started to rush into the netu but a wave of heat and pressure washes over him as a towering figure looms over them suddenly. A wall of flame swings, striking the charging pair and sending them tumbling away as the fires spread to engulf them rapidly. The remaining ghouls claws were torn from Troma's armor as a heavy boot knocks it away and stomps the undead into the ground. It claws at the leg but their own claws on the heel and toes flex to stab into it as the osjiic crushes its ribcage with her weight, splattering a fresh layer of gore over the bone armor..

Captain Troma gives a nod to Arbiter Huor who reaches down a large hand to haul the pirate up to his feet, "Gratitude, Arbiter."

Returning a curt nod of her own Huor spins back, her arm extending and hand bending down to open fire with the paired spitefires on her forearm, "Gladly, Captain. Show no weakness, they can smell it. Show them no mercy, they deserve none!" The osjiic gives a warcry as she charges back in, her shield swinging down to crush a zombie with its edge and her flail swings out, casting a searing orb of a Sunstrike to engulf a cluster of ghouls bearing down on one of the Wardens.

Emboldened by the words and actions of the osjiic Troma gives a rallying shout of his own, the pirates that had followed him into this hell raising their own voices as they clashed with the undead on their way toward the source of this outbreak. His thermal vibrosword, an heirloom of countless Captains before him, carves its way effortlessly through the shambling undead as his blasters unleash precise bolts of photons, the netu determined to ignore the ever creeping fatigue. His iron-will seemed to leak out, bolstering his own troops and inspiring the Legionnaires that followed their Arbiter.

In this Hell that had once been one of the Netu's last true homes they continued to cut and burn their way side by side toward the source of this calamity.

An oversized fist of bone and ritually enhanced metal smashes into the face of a netu ghoul, snapping its beak and shattering its eyesocket to interrupt the shrill shriek. Sur-Quro scowls under the impassive mask of her helm as the undead twitches on the ground in shock but already it was trying to leap back to its feet in its all-consuming hunger. She doesn't let it though as her fist crashes down, smashing the skull into the metal grating of the floor.

Standing upright she flexes her gauntlet as flames engulf it, burning away the gore. Quikka approaches, likewise cleaning her reaver staff of it's own coating of viscera by telekinetically repelling it, "That was the last of that ambush. They are becoming less frequent."

"But more vicious," the yuyut grumbles, her armor sporting new gashes and dents from the blows of the undead. She turns to the tech that had come with them standing with a demi-Think Tank plugged into a wall console, "Legionnaire, report."

The tech gives a quick salute, "Yes, Arbiter. Gargoyles are still in pursuit of the cyborg and mapping out the areas around it. Just pulled some maps, old and likely outdated somewhat but they align withing acceptable parameters. We're still on their tail."

"Any indication to where they are headed?" Quikka inquires by Sur-Quro's side.

The tech shakes their head, "Unfortunately no. It's like this city was designed by circumstance to stymie any outsiders trying to map it."

"Defend yourself with chaos," Sur-Quro says more to herself than anyone.

"But wherever they're going, it's toward the oldest parts of the city by my estimations. Like, original superstructure old," the tech says as the demi-Think Tank projects holomaps to their helmet displays.

Quikka rubs a finger under her helms beak in silent contemplation as the Arbiter rises to her hind legs, "We'll find out what they're after once we they lead us to the mastermind of this disaster."

With a psychic nudge the Legionnaires and Wardens heft their weapons and form up behind the Arbiter, following the torch formed by her flail. The lights in recent areas had been mostly broken or flickering in their death throes if they did have power, the squad forced to rely on the Solar flames and the advanced sensors of their exosuits.

The ghouls loved the darkness, using it to hide their cold bodies from thermal scans, crouched among the piping and machinery in silent wait. They would dart out or slash, attempting to snag or tackle their prey but the squad was made of veterans of the Refuge Crisis, several participating in the final mission alongside Jor and the now Rethak.

Ahead of them the Gargoyles kept their pace, slithering through the ductwork and under the floors and in the walls, their many eyes tracking the pack of ghouls and their unnatural cyborg leader. They would stop and double-back occasionally, as if lost or trying to throw off their trail but the Reconstructed did their best to live up to their purpose as they tailed them.

However tracking them in hiding became more difficult as the stations make became older and simpler, more streamlined and purposely designed. Although discolored and warped with age the Gargoyles could detect the change in the materials and designs of the structures. The undead they were following seemed to be delving into a deep portion of the original city structure.

As Sur-Quro's squad began to reach these areas as well they scanned the areas, realizing that beyond the ghouls that seemed to congregate in the wake of the cyborg, there had been very little activity in these halls for quite some time. Not even the living seemed welcome here, the atmosphere filled with toxic gases that seemed to settle here from other areas of the city.

Soon the maps the tech had pulled failed to map the corridors and empty chambers they found themselves passing. Bulkheads were welded shut in area, blocking paths that would take too long to cut through even with hardlight blades but even then the danger of flammable fumes being trapped on the other side dissuaded ideas of cutting a shortcut through them.

They were in uncharted waters in pursuit of monsters as many others thirsted for their blood and flesh.

Time to roll some dice!
....
>Oh no
>>
>>3143986
It was such a foolish thing, a childishly simple ambush and trap. Sur-Quro snarls in frustration as she stands at the ready, flail in hand and gauntlet holding a flame in its palm. Her eyes slowly turn across the undead that surrounded her, snarling and snapping their jaws in barely restrained hunger as their dead eyes reflected the flickering of her fire in the darkness of the chamber.

She had been leading her small squad with Quikka and the demi-Think Tank just behind her with the Wardens flanking the Legionnaires. Motion sensors had detected movement ahead in the maze of passages but the demi-Think Tank could not determine if it was from undead or from the gravity fluctuations that had been plaguing them the last fifteen minutes as some potentially ancient generator struggled on.

Confident in her capabilities Sur-Quro had stepped forth into the intersection of corridors, her Sunthrower in hand as she walked bipedally into it. The flame that lingered at the tip of the weapon illuminated a disk around her as the others followed behind.

A shriek had split the air suddenly, echoing in the passages that died down into the sound of pounding footsteps approaching them from the other hallways. Sur-Quro had lifted her hand to signal them to group up as they had plenty of times before when another shriek interrupts her, this time much, much closer.

She looked up barely in time to see the cluster of ghouls that had been hiding within the ceiling itself poured out of vents to throw themselves bodily at her. Taken down in a pile of thrashing limbs the yuyut shouts in alarm as Quikka and the others rush forward to assist but they were quickly beset upon by the other ghouls that started flooding into the intersection.

Sur-Quro let the flames engulf her completely, her shout turning from alarm to fury as she channeled that anger into incinerating the flesh and chitin of the ghouls clawing and gnashing at her armor. They had screamed and fell back as they caught fire allowing Sur-Quro the chance to push herself upright, the armature connecting pack to Sunthrower rapidly pulling it secure now that she was unentangled.

Quikka was quick to join her side, a telekinetic shove sending the feet out from under a kesh ghoul that attempted to slash at them with its sickle-like middle claw. Sur-Quro finished off the ghoul by reaching out and took its skull in the palm of her oversized gauntlet and squeezed until it popped like a rotten fruit.

"You good?" Quikka asked, the yuyut nodding.

Her reply was cut short as they felt the gravity suddenly cut out, sending the unprepared scrambling off their feet and the ghouls flipping over themselves in surprise. It was a moment of pure confusion as both sides adjusted to the sudden change in terrain and it was all they needed.

As both Sur-Quro and Quikka found themselves floating in the air the netu corrected herself using her telekinesis and grumbled, "Surprised it lasted this long."

>>3144307
Sur-Quro had been about to comment when her eyes went wide, looking past the netu as a flash of pale flesh splattered with multicolored gore barrels toward them with shocking speed. Her symbiot registered what it was a split moment before she could, the massive bulk of a heavily mutated osjiic ghoul even bigger than Huor throwing itself like a cannonball down the corridor. Its claws left great rents in the walls as it throws itself, smaller floating ghouls bouncing off it without slowing it down.

Acting on instinct Sur-Quro had reached out and shoved Quikka to the side in the zero gravity, a split moment later having the wind knocked from all three lungs as the Blight ghoul tackled her like a shuttle in reentry. Dazed at the impact she shook the stars from her eyes and realized she was still in motion. The osjiic ghoul had one of its log-like arms wrapped around her holding her tight against its bulk as it continued to propel itself down the corridor while the other ghouls began to adjust to the change in gravity.

The Arbiter snarled with animalistic indignation as the flames returned to engulf her form but the hulking undead merely turned its face away from the flames and refused to let go. Its eyes were already empty sockets before Sur-Quro started to claw at it with her Gauntlet, but once she clasps her palm over its face it finally began to scream. Flames jet from her palm as she burned into its face and the ghoul finally released her only to use both hands and a twist of its body to give a mighty throw that sent her careening down the corridor.

The osjiic ghoul snarls with a fury and tried to rush forward to go after her but halted in place suddenly, a quizzical whine escaping it before it gurgled as the point of a reaver staff burst from its throat. Quikka dashed past, snatching the staff she'd thrown like a spear and twisted it free of the osjiic, the bladed end carving the beasts head from its body in her passing.

Yet it was already done.

Sur-Quro had found herself tumbling head over heels into another chamber before gravity returned with a stuttering wave, sending her to thump against the metal floor with a grunt. In the darkness she pushed herself upright again, muttering curses in her native language. Gunfire and shrieks drew her attention and she turns to the entrance she'd been thrown through to see Quikka, the Wardens and the rest of the squad rushing toward her fighting through the ghouls that stood between them.

She summoned a ball of flame over her hand and inhaled with surprise as she realized she was not alone in the chamber, the faces of the ghouls surrounding her lit by her flames. Glancing back toward the exit her symbiot calculated her path but her stomach sank as she spotted a ghoul standing to the side of the entrance. It's torn lips seemed to curl back from jagged bloody teeth in a cruel smile as it slams a bloodied hand against the dimly illuminated console in the wall.

The bulkhead groaned and metal creaked as suddenly a thick armored plate dropped down, sealing Sur-Quro within the chamber. She quickly pulled the flail from her pack, a sphere of radiant energy manifesting at its end to shed even more light upon the ghouls that crowded at the edges of the light.

<Arbiter! What is going on?!> came the frantic thought-shout of Quikka who had led the group through the ghouls in their way. Already the demi-Think Tank moves to the console on their side but it had been heavily damaged with components strewn about like a disembowel animal.

<Looks like they got the jump on us. How shameful, Valresko will be displeased.> Sur-Quro grumbles, slowly looking out across the undead surrounding her. It was such a simple and stupid tactic. A snatch and grab, how silly and childish. If she weren't staring down the undead who stared back with murderous hunger Sur-Quro would have laughed.

It was time to see just how fierce her fire for survival could burn.

There was a reason why the Sunscale were instrumental in defeating the Grand Necrotic Armada so long ago. Through the Father from the Solar, their god of Fire, Vengeance and Fury they burned through the scourge of undeath that had gripped half the Galaxy and threatened to consume all that lived.

Flame and Fury, the righteous rage of the Father, was the instrument of True Death for many, many undead at the height of the Necrotic Wars. Worlds burned, covered in the ash of incinerated undead.

It was the Light that brought Fear to the fearless, Death to the deathless. It was the power of Life and Rage, the ferocity to exist and struggle and thrive, anathema to the entropic dogmas of Undeath.

But this Light, had been stolen. Plucked from the soul of a Holy Blessed of the Father from the Solar, corrupted and filtered through the lens of Undeath thanks to You and the Dominator of the Solar.

This rage, this Light, burns bright in the soul of the lone Arbiter, inheritor of the flame and the first of her kind as she struggles and fights, killing and breaking the tide of undead that attempted to stop her. Its fury flows through her like molten steel pumping through her veins as radiant energies ignite across her form. She can feel the fear of the undead symbiot fused to her spine, a creation of the Necrotic even if it was resistant to her own flames.

Still she Rages

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_5unoZTpoQ

Fury fills her voice as she shouts out, her claw snatching out to grip the face of a leaping ghoul and twisting to use its own momentum to throw it into a handful of other undead. The mere touch of her gauntlet ignites the Blight Hunger in the ghouls flesh as the flames rapidly spread from its head across its body, leaping out to ignite the undead they were tangled with.

She let the momentum spin her, her flail swinging out to strike the cheek of another ghoul sending it spinning with its own flames to contend with as the dry flesh catches flame. She swings the weapon of shaped bone, flames licking across it as it channels radiant energy, a globule of the same energy racing from its end illuminating the ghouls it passed like a tracer round before the sphere locks itself in place and expands with golden light that washes over the nearest undead. A split moment later the Sunstrike ignites in orange flames that fills most of the narrow corridor like a summoned miniature sun.

Darkness pressed down around her as oppressively as the waves of undead surge toward her, like a wave of malice trying to wash over and snuff out the painful light that radiated off of her. Thought fell from her mind, instinct and training taking over with guidance from her symbiot as she turns herself into a weapon to survive this Hell.

A netu ghoul wearing security armor tackles her, the dense riot gear protecting from the flames that wreathed her form like a second armor, its jagged beak pecking and tearing at her armor. It tried its best to take her down but the claws of her boots dig into the metal grating of the floor and the Arbiter snarls, her gauntlet swinging up under its arms and she can hear its chitin snap from within the armor. Another blow like that and the ghoul squeals as it tries to pull back its broken arms only to have its cry cut abruptly as its open beak was suddenly impaled by a flaming club, the yuyut shouting as she pushes forward and drives it to the ground under her weight instead. The impact of her heavy frame, increased by the exosuits bulk, and her own strength drives the flail into its skull cavity to silence the ghoul.

She does not let it slow her down, the fins of her pack flaring as she propels herself forward. She bursts through the other side of the Sunstrike that had served to halt the advanced of the ghouls, her armor of flames flaring with intensity as the Sunstrike's energies were absorbed once more. Throwing herself into the wall of ghouls that had gathered she scatters them with a detonation of flames that roar to match her warcries.

The Solar flows through her, her body a conduit for the inferno that rages in her soul even as that very conduit burns and hardens, her body warping with the energies that she wielded. Whatever fatigue she should have felt, even with the aid of the Spinal Tap pumping adrenaline and a cocktail of other performance stimulants and drugs, was burned away just like the Blight Hunger in the unfortunate undead sent to stop her.

Some part of her and her symbiot knew she should be tiring, but the more her radiant flames burned and consumed the Blight Hunger, the virus itself manifesting and spreading Necrotic radiation, the more and more she felt rejuvenated.

Flames spray from her open palm, the fires consuming all before her as she rushes down the corridor, darting around corners and leaping over bodies of burning ghouls and climbing ancient stairs, following the guidance of her symbiot and Your own distant whispers.

Smoldering corpses and screaming, dying undead marked her path, the yuyut quite literally blazing a path through the darkness filled with fangs and talons thirsty for her blood and soul. Like a star in the infinite void of night, she shines and burns, attempting to reach an end, a dawn to this night of terror.

And still she Rages on

Hey folks, I know I promised to continue the thread today, as I have several times before but sadly I don't know if I can tonight.

I seem to be hitting a major writer's block and not just with Dats. It's frustrating cause I know what needs to be written and what needs to happen next, it's all planned out, but I just can't seem to get the words to form together when I try to sit down and write it all.

I'm sorry for the constant disappointment folks
