In the last thread you agreed to join with the Samir Republic in striking against the Northern Coalition. The plan has been laid out by the Samir, the boats are ready, the men gathered and the time is now. A war involving every state on the Wine-Dark Sea is about to come to it's climax.

The Lightwatcher army has been tasked with landing west of Thresu and cutting through the forest before slamming into the rear of the Northern Coalition army. However the before you set out the King has decreed that the council must chose one of their own to be the Overlord of the Lightwatcher forces.

A vote is had among the Lightbearers of the army and Donnis Seastorm is selected as the Overlord! A experienced fighter, cousin of the Emperor and a commanding figure in general. With that decided you shall begin your march through the forest as the Samir plan has outlined! The army currently consists of 2,400 Hoplites around half armed with bronze breastplates, around one third with bows, around two thirds with spears, all with iron swords and all with bronze helmets along with 100 horsemen with bronze breastplates, bronze helmets and iron spears.

It seems you were spotted by scouts with a coalition army being quickly dispatched to confront you as you finish crossing the forest!
This army consist of 500 Gotti Boar Riders lead by Lord Torim, 500 Aline Berserkers lead by Chieftan Thr'Lok and 400 Belinlos warriors lead by the Reborn. They have all taken position on a small hill in-front of you with the Boar riders on their right flank.

What will you do? Everyone can make suggestions and vote but the Overlord can overrule a vote if he wishes too.

We should try and exploit the Gotti eagerness for revenge and use our cavalry to taunt and lure their troops towards our archers and spearmen. Once they lured deep enough in they will be pinned by the cavalry and the spearman and any that try and escape will be rained down upon with arrows. The rest of the troops will remain steady and wait in defensive positions if the rest of the enemy army decides to attack. Do not engage the enemy uphill tho

With it being the height of the dry season the forest ignites with ease the flames quickly spreading from tree to tree. You quickly begin to hear the sounds of screaming men as it seems the Aline had been lulled into a sense of security by your inaction and it seems their camp has been caught up in the fire!

With the fire at your backs the Lightwatchers begin their march, their armor gleaming in the noonday sun. In rather predictable fashion the Boar Riders move to smash into your right flank however Donnis Seastorm has taken his most veteran men placing them in position to quickly form a phalanx blunting the fearsome charge of the Gotti. The Boar Riders quickly retreat having taken substantial causalities as the main lines of the battle begin to clash!

The battle is quickly becoming a bloodbath as both sides crash into each other with fury and hatred unseen in previous battles on the Wine-Dark Sea. The longspears and tight formations of the Lightwatchers allow them to quickly push back the Aline whose furious style of combat is not match for the more disciplined phalanx. However you are ground to a standstill against the forces of Belinlos and their freakish leader the Reborn who wields a blade sword that can cleave a shield in half with a single swing. They fight in tight formations much like you and Samir but have the advantage of full iron armor with it being clear that these men are veterans of many a battle.

As the Boar Riders charge Donnis is once again ready as a new sense of confidence in his command rushes through the men as they brace their spears. The crashing wave of man and boar flesh collides once more with a sickening crunch but the phalanx does not break and the riders are forced to once again withdraw.

However at the same time even with fresh reinforcements the line buckles under the assault of the inhuman Reborn and his warriors. The Reborn moves with unnatural grave carving his way towards one target, Donnis Seastorm!

You loot the dead, rest up and prepare to march out to meet with the main coalition army. As you approach the river that makes up the current front-line of the war you find the Samir army in the process of crossing it. This army is the largest seen outside of the Beastmen hordes being made of a startling 15,000 men. You are greeted by the Legates Arte and Thucer who chide you on being so late. It seems King Bulgaris has order the army to retreat rather then be pressed on two sides and will likely chose another battlefield that favors his cavalry. The Legates invite you to their strategy meeting to figure out how to best defeat the coalition on an open battlefield.

Northern Coalition Forces:
6,000 Bojmor Calvary
4,000 Bojmor Infantry
200 Belinlos Infantry
300 Aline Infantry
500 Gotti Boar Riders

Samir/Wine-Dark Forces:
150 Merli Horsemen
2,100 Lightwatcher Hoplites
9,000 Samir Hoplites
1,000 Samir Skirmishers
5,000 Samir Horsemen
>>
>>3115204
We will use our lighter cavalry to harass the more heavier enemy one and use it to pin them down and have the Samir skirmishers and our own archers to rain fire upon them. Meanwhile our infantry will move in a wedge/reverse crescent formation and be somewhat spread out to create a bigger flank that the enemy must go around. The goal of the cavalry and skirmishers will be to hold the enemy cavalry busy enough that we are able to crush the enemy infantry and have the whole army focus on the enemy cav.

King Bulgaris leads his mighty charge, a paragon of masculine virility and royalty! His men crash into the confused invaders cutting them down like the very dogs they are!

That is what he thought anyways, the second he hit the Lightwatcher line a single man drew his sword and in one slash bisected not just the King but his horse to. The charge was blunted in a second as his Queens screams echoed across the battlefield, his retainers standing in shocked silence at what had just happened. The Lightwatchers had proven their reputation as Kingslayers was well deserved this day.

There is little more the Bojmor can do beyond throw down their swords. A brutal peace agreement is made with the Samir who take most of the once great Kingdoms land with you gaining Harik’s Point. It seems the Belinlos in an effort to avoid such a fate have agreed to join the Samir republic with some limited autonomy and have married their Speaker of Terrax to the First-Citizen.

Berut, as his last major action before passing away, reinvests parts of his profits into the infrastructure of Scarletta, especially building a small temple. This is both an effort to ingratiate himself with the priesthood, and benefit the lives of his peasants, to prevent problems before his son and fellow mage, Hadid, takes his place as the Lord of the Ruby Isle. If there is anything he is grateful for, it is the chance to erase his father's mistake, and explore the seas in the name of Galoris.

In early year 61 the Emperor passed away during the night. The Stormseer moved to hold his funeral and the new coronation ceremony, however unforeseen events have stopped the coronation! It seems the Emperor’s eldest child Princess Nuha has challenged her younger brother’s claim! She claims Prince Adad is a worthless womanizing drunk that would see the Empire crumble below his feet and as the oldest child of the King she should inherit the crown!

Princess Nuha also says she wishes to see greater expansion of our people but not as a Empire built on subijication but returning to a simple Kingdom welcoming all the new followers as equals. She also wishes for increased centralization, a true standing army and an increased role of the Crown.

Prince Adad thinks there is nothing wrong with how things currently are and even considers giving even more power to the Lords and Council.

Any men belonging to Clan Dazkhod found on Ruby Island will be immediately brought to Lord Hadid and executed, before their bodies are impaled on stakes outside his estate. Furthermore, the Lord alerts all other Lords to the fact that the Clan, if it can even be called that, is using savage groups to perform nefarious deeds, and these groups can most likely be found on every island. The lights give you a simple prophecy “seven years”.

In other news the Emperor has stripped the Lordship of Southern Copal from the Thleech family and given it to the Yoresh family. He has also stopped giving part of the royal treasury to the church and has gone on a massive spending spree hosting near constant feasts! A strange corpse has also washed up on the beach, it seems to be some grotesque combination of man and shark.

D has been chosen! How will we improve our military! Currently we function off a militia system with all men of age being required to train often in combat and participate in grand games of Waterball along with naval practice!

Our equipment is based on simple iron weaponry, well developed bows, bronze chest-plates, bronze helmets and wooden shields.

We have a simple command structure with men called Lightbearers leading groups of ten into battle.

What will you do to improve this
>>
>>3124597
Construct more Triremes.
>>
>>3124597
>>3124597
Create a new army position called Centurion (Roman I know but I don’t know what else to call it) who will will command 10 Lightbearers and in effectively be in command of units of 100 men.
>>
>>3124603
This, but just call them Galurions.
>>
Coming off of what Sollus recommends, rename Lightbearers to Officers, and above them, have Captains, who command 100 men. Above that we can have Commanders, who command 500, and then the Marshal, who is the head of command.
>>
>>3124597
In descending order of authority we can structure our military like this.
Overlord- commands the armies
General - 1000
Commander - 500
Captain - 100
Light bearer - 10 men

A storm rages over the capital as the Priests take to the streets preaching against the Tyrant Emperor who does nothing but take from the people. Outside of the royal palace a small groups gathers lead by Sollus Armeno and Kassad of the Ruby Enclave. Both men are ready to do what needs to be done to save their home from debauchery and corruption. The rain is pouring down with the crack of thunder signalling their attack. With his blade Sollus easily cuts through the gate with Kassad empowered by two gods smashes through any guard foolish enough to try to stop them. They are soaked in the blood of their kinsmen losing near half their number when they finally reach the throne room, Emperor Adad lounging on his throne a trident made of twisted green metal sitting across his lap. He finishes his drink throwing the golden goblet to the floor.

The Emperor screams as black blood begins to pour out of his eyes and month covering his entire body within seconds! You begin to hear a sickening bone breaking and flesh tearing sound as his body begins to grow as the hardened black blood flakes off revealing his new form!

Rolled 69, 69, 12 = 150 (3d100)

The murder of the Copal emperor saw those loyal to him pushed aside and destroyed. These families had their assets stripped of them and their livelihood stolen. One of these families were the Cortav family, who where thrown to the wolves after the transfer of power. But Hope is a fickle creature and ~~autism~~ greed always finds away.

Once they where prestigious merchants but now the Cortav family peddles smuggled goods and act as a fence for all sorts of scum. Their connections run deep into the underbelly, often clashing with the likes of the Dashzods.

Only the chaos caused by the fool prince and his supporters now gives Cortav family, now lead by Dimitri, to finally rise up and seize power by the throat. Already vicious turf wars are fought between the Dashzods and Cortav aligned scum. As the fires burn, Dimitri watches from his manor in North copal.

Assets:
- A manor in North Corpal that acts as the HQ for the operations
- A few contacts in high society
- 200 or so people in direct employment to the family
- snuggling/fencing ring
- De facto control over north corpal

Three fac projects
1: finish turf war with morning wood, drive his scum from the underworld
2: extend influence into racketeering operations to fund more of my stuff
3: give back to the communities so the common folk like me and are willing to help my family out.

During the reign of terror it seems Princess Nuha had boarded a ship to swiftly return to the Kingdom. The Stormseer quickly dispatched a messenger to find her on the island of Merli and it is said they had a long discussion. With this the Priests all over the Empire have called for the coronation of a new Queen with this idea garnering major support among the people who view her as the only one who truly predicted this would happen. While some of the Lords might not be happy with her return without a change in the system they would be hard pressed to raise any forces against her now.

With her return she has repaid the loan taken from Samir in full, placed large bounties on the assassins of the Habib Shinebringer and the Neorah family. She has also revoked the title of Lord Protector of Loslina but has made no intentions of revoking the changes to the Haswod titles.

The increase in taxes on spices has caused wealth to flow into the royal coffers as Loslina holds a monopoly on the trade between the Sunset Imperium and Samir. The Oathkeepers are quick to get to work with their distinct dark blue robes becoming a fairly common sight in the halls of lords.

In other news the strange Tommas has passed away surrounded by his loving bastards after imparting both the skills of ironwork and runecraft on your people, truly a great man.

The Firethrower is made of a complex set of tubes and chambers that somehow spew a volatile burning liquid, your men can make neither heads nor tails of any of it making this a rather expensive waste of time.

In other news Jaime Dazkhold and several others have executed for the murder of Habib Shinebringer and the slaughter of the Neorah family. Hiram Thleech was arrested by the Oathkeepers for attempting to hire men to murder the Yoresh family however after his family paid a hefty sum to the Crown he has avoided execution.

We have a moderately complex command structure
Overlord- commands the armies
General - 1000

Captain - 100

Many men answer the call of Queen and Council to form a standing army of 3,000 men! Only the very best of those who try out for the army are accepted with during the peacetime this force will act as guards to help enforce the peace in the Empire. The longer pike of Bojmor is adopted among the professional army but it requires alot of training to master so the militias keep with the normal spear.

In other news the Magical Academy of Loslina has been built under the Queens guidance, she has also made it law that all those who are found with the ability to do magic must travel here to train and enter service of the Kingdom. She also reveals that when both a man and women channel elements of magic together they can produce strange and marvelous effets!

Reveal to the Lords that all gems apparently can have negative effects on people, when kept close to them, and in large enough quantities. Sapphires produce apathy, rubies fuel a hot temper, and amethysts make one paranoid. This is why the Shinebringer family has been noted for their hot tempers. Due to this, their rubies are now being kept in a sealed vault within the mine, which is rapidly running out of rubies. There, they are only moved when they are shipped to Samir and elsewhere. Workers are being rotated from Loslina to prevent others being affected, as well.

In the several months after the sacrifice a strange sight can be seen around Loslina which soon spreads across the Empire. These strange pudgy furry fish are found all over! Dubbed Seals for some reason these creatures can be hunted for their food and pelts while also providing great amusement to all around with their antics! Truly you are blessed by Galoris!

In rather strange news a odd singing can be heard from around the waters of Loslina at night, it is making many people nervous and they wish for the Queen and Council to do something about it.

The forces are almost a complete match as the Dragon Riders inflict massive causalities from above as the Angelsharks inflict massive causalities from below dragging men off their ships into the deep.

Isaac Yoresh is the first to draw Dragon blood by jumping from a mast to tear off one of the Riders before driving the creature into the deck of a Sunset ship! The chaos continues!

It has been one month since the Battle of Gotti, all who were captured have remained upon the islands as prisoners. The Sunset Armada has set up the island as a strong point and have begun raiding all over the Wine-Dark Sea. However back at Loslina an unlikely ally has emerged, Cipactli of the Eagle has sold a fleet of twenty Triremes to the Queen who is mustering a new force to contest the Sunset Armada's dominance of the Sea. The Samir have committed what remaining ships they have and even the Bojmor have summoned up the little navy they have to help. The battle for the Wine-Dark Sea is not yet over but will it be able to hold against the terrible might of the Sunset Imperium? Find out next week on Everwood Civ!
