>Hey guys its CursedQm back for a quick crack at QM'ing to knock the dust off of things. Im sorry for my failing to run Shell Command but my schedule at work shifted things around to the point I had neither the time or energy. But as I miss writing and you awesome folks here on QST, i figured I'd come back and try for a quicky one shot. As always, rolls are D100, best of 3, higher the better. Beat the established DC or my roll, whichever is asked for. With the formalities out of the way, here we go!

The vacuum and endless cold of space has kept you in a state of suspended animation for eons. A tiny lump of biological tissue embedded within a lump of free floating porous rock, the leftover remains of some shattered world in ages past drifting with countless others through a systems metal rich asteroid field. It was the deposits of heavy metals that drew the mining vessels of the humans to the system, the great barges of gnawing mechanical teeth and crushing jaws of iron that pulverized the asteroids in their gargantuan bellies. It was one of these mindless grazing vessels that swallowed your makeshift home whole, depositing you into the depths of it's hold along with countless tons of stone and metallic ores.

As the vessel returned to its home station after weeks at metaphorical pasture in the vast fields of raw materials, depositing its crudely processed meal into the foundries of the mining sector of the station, a change occurs. Microscopic alterations within your chrysalis increase in speed and potency at the detection of atmosphere and heat, your subconscious mind, simple as it is, telling every cell in your amorphous body a single, all consuming message.

It is time to WAKE.

It is time to FEED.

With a wet crunch, the shell around you cracks apart, spilling a thick, gelatinous ooze as your body attempts to force its way out of the egglike shell. Strands of congealed fibrous tissue coil and bunch like muscle as you blindly thrash and wriggle, spilling out of the gap like a particularly mucous rich egg yolk.

Light sensitive eyespots along your form register the dim light, your sensitive and pale mucous coated "skin" detecting the warmth of the station and the subtle vibrations and pounding clanks of the machinery.

You can feel that you are... Diminished. When your world was dying, split apart by some great cataclysm lost to your memory, you shed away great portions of yourself, concealing your core, the essence of your being in the deepest cavern you could find. You used to be vast, a great consumer of all that crossed your path. You had eyes to see, legs with which to run and , skin as strong as stone.

Now... Now, with the diminished mind available to you, you can tell that you are the merest speck of yourself. Your crude eyespots cannot detect details but by stretching and flopping yourself about you discern that you are barely more than a blob of particularly thick mucous. Various tendrils of differing lengths extrude from the base of your "body", a ovoid mass of slimy tissue and several despots scattered about your form that can detect the presence of light or the absence of it. You can feel within you various soft deposits that feel... Viscous, their contents feeling directly linked to the consumption of food. If you actually had a stomach you are sure it would rumble in extreme hunger. You need food and you need it soon.

With your stomach (vacoule based digestive sack) metaphorically rumbling you burble and plop along the scattered and pulverized ores and asteroids, following the faint scents and chemical traces in the air. Ignoring those with inorganic nature, you cling to the base of a sheer wall and scoot along its outskirts, drawing closer and closer to something of a biological origin.

You move by pushing and pulling yourself along with the scattering of sticky tendrils along the base of your form, a inefficient but sufficiently speedy enough form of locomotion that brings you closer and closer to the tantalizing scent in a matter of minutes. Your eyespots detect a faint flicker of motion ahead of you, a flash of faint color against the gloom of the foundry floor.

You pause, your eyespots and tendrils waving about as you taste the air and observe to the best of your ability. A faint, plodding outline, dark purple against the gloom, the scent of biological tissue and organic waste, starchy and fibrous.

>Found a juvenile Dzizi rat eating a discarded protein bar. Enormously stupid and fast breeding, Dzizi rats are found galaxy wide. Able to survive in almost any environment, eat almost anything plant based or organic, harmless to the point of being ignored and dimwitted to the point of being near suicidal, these rotund purple rodents are a favored food source of basically everything.

You arent sure if you can catch up to this rotund ball of fluff and fat if it manages to detect your approach so you instinctively flatten yourself down, oozing closer like the malevolent slime you are. Your tendrils grip the uneven metal of the floors easily and haul your forward an inch at a time, your body barely an inch high but nearly a foot across in it's flattened state. Your eyespots extend on tiny stalks, homing in on the scent and outline of your target as you creep closer, leaving a trail of glistening mucus in your wake.

Several times you pause and sit absolutely still as the Dzizi rat squeaks curiously, looking up from its meal to examine its surroundings but luckily the dimwitted vermin fails to notice you as you draw ever closer.

Finally, you sit within reach and you coil your tendrils beneath you, bunching them like slime coated springs as you pull your mass up to Your full and unimpressive height before throwing yourself forward with all of your might.

Success! Your body thrums with excitement as you curl your tendrils around the flailing and squeaking rodent, the verminous creature overwhelmed by your mass as you envelop it, tendrils wrapping about its throat, legs and body, you pull the unfortunate rodent and it's erstwhile meal into your mass, your acidic nodules releasing in a flood of chemicals as your "stomach" seals around your meal, your body stretched tight around them both as the terrified Dzizi rat and the stalwart protein bar begin dissolving into a nutritious mush, the orangish blood of the Dzizi rat staining your interior a dull orange as it's struggles slow and cease, its body breaking down while it drowns in an acidic mixture of digestive fluids and it's own blood.

You sit there for quite some time, digesting your meal in safety and quiet, the nutrients and biomass you have absorbed filling you to the point of bursting. You need more! You need to grow!

You are a tiny horror, roughly the size of a large balled fist. Pale pulsating flesh wrapped in a hard shell of glittering black carapace, sprouting from your body a set of six long legs which function equally as legs and as hooks for snaring more food. Your tentacles are long whips, sticky fronds for entangling living things and digesting your meals with corrosive digestive enzymes. Your entire body is covered in a film of sensory cells which let you see the heat of other living things and taste their chemical makeup, you have no mouth, no eyes, no nose, or any other such crude organs.

There's my submission.
>>
>Senses> vision Lv1. Eyespots upgraded to simple eyes! You dont have any advanced vision but you can pick things out with more detail at longer distances!
>Skin > Skin Lv1. Your skin becomes thicker and tougher. Youre still a acid filled snot balloon but you're a at least harder to pop now.

As You digest your meal, your body undergoes instinctive, cellular changes to your entire biology. Your body grows slightly, increasing your mass by at least a third while your tendrils become longer and stronger to accomadate your increased "bulk". The more advanced eyes of the Dzizi rat have been broken down entirely, their mechanism and function down to the cellular level discerned by your body. As you filter the material ingested by its usefulness, you notice the surrounding area becoming clearer and more detailed as your eyespots grow and develop, cellular growth enlarging them and turning them from photosensitive patches of cells to actual, function, simple eyes.

You regard the area around you with vague interest as your skin takes a cue from the cutaneous tissue of the Dzizi rat, thickening slightly, adoption a tactile feel similar to that of an amphibian if that amphibian was coated in mildly acidic mucous. You can tell you are still fragile but you think that most creatures your size or smaller would have a far harder time harming you unless they possessed specialized piercing digits. You turn this way and that, your body jiggling and plopping wetly as you happily smack your tendrils on the ground, splashing in the small pool of mucous and Dzizi rat blood.

>64, move into the air ducts like a slimy hobo

Your newly developed eyes pan around the cavernous space around you. Your mildly increased cognitive abilities inform you that this vast space is devoid of any cover beyond the lumps of rock and ores that are now moving on a vast, rattling conveyor system towards a dull, ruddy red glow in the distance that every fiber of your being informs you is not a safe spot to be. You cast your eyes, extended on small stalks of your core tissue around and look for any place at all to take cover from anything larger than yourself that may come by. If that food scrap the rodent was eating was any indication then creatures significantly larger than yourself moved through here occasionally and the last thing you needed was to be crushed under a wayward doorstep.

To your simpleminded joy, you notice a grate in the wall, its corner chewed away by rust and gnawing rodent teeth. The space is just large enough for you to squeze through, your acidic slime lubricating your passage through as you ooze and pull your way past the rusted metal, tendrils of thick slime hanging from the rusted grate as you slide and plop your way through the interior of the duct, tiny scraps of organic matter (Dzizi rat droppings) being absorbed into your mass as you ooze along, your tendrils slapping the metal with flat, wet plops as you drag yourself along, your simple eyes peering ever forward as you explore the reaches of this new area.

>Time passes.

You push yourself into the corner of the junction in the air ducts, wriggling with contentment as a pair of your tendrils you with the dedicated skull of a deceased Dzizi rat. It seemz the rodents are truly everywhere in this space as three of the ducts from this junction are heavy with their slightly acrid scent. Two of the others have a slightly more.... Tempting smell while another has a scent that brings to mind the chlorophyll rich forests of your "youth" along with the rich scent of moving and active lifeforms.

Instead of hunting one rat at a time, we should spread our biomass into a corrosive mesh webbing in this junction so anything of significant size moving through the space will get snared in corrosive threads. >Gained ability: Acidic Slime: Traps

You idly inspect the skull held by a pair of your "manipulator" tendrils, those not used mainly for locomotion. The skull itself is nearly two thirds the size of the juvenile you consumed. The adults themselves may actually be larger than you are right now. If You wish to capture, consume and absorb one of these vermin you'll need to work smarter, not harder.

It is with a simple minded drive and tireless dedication that you focus yourself and thicken the mucous secreted by your tendrils, increasing its acidity and rendering it viscous, sticky and able to set into a semi solid strand once exposed to the air. Over the next few hours, you weave a simple web of sticky, acidic strands that crisscross the ducts that smell of Dzizi rats and other vermin. While the web itself would be unable to to kill larger vermin the web of gluey strands would immobilize and injure any unfortunate enough to wander into it, the caustic mucous adhering to their very flesh as it burns into them.

With your simple traps completed, you secret yourself into the corner of the duct intersection and while away the hours as you idly toy with your pilfered skull, your acidic slime having eaten grooves and divots into the calcite. Your simple eyes focus in the darkness as you sit and wait, hunger sharpening your senses to a razor keenness as the tapping of dull claws echoes along the vent.

"Screek!"
*acidic hissing noises*

One of your traps jerks and twitches as a large, rotund Dzizi rat, likely a mature adult, trashes against the gluey coils fastened around its forelimb, midsection and lower jaw. Vapor and the stench of bubbling flesh hisses around the coils of mucousy slime. Orange blood bubbles from the grooves but from the size of the creature and the shallowness of the grooves, these are little more than superficial wounds.

You have to do something or it may escape!

Your simple eyes inform you that the vermin is simply too large for you to successfully envelop. If You spread yourself thin enough to cover it then it would be able to claw or bite its way free and probably fatally injure you. However as it flails and struggles, you cant help but appreciate the wealth of biomass it offers if you could just get access to it.

As the Dzizi rat struggles, you catch sight of a possible point of ingress that doesnt seem lined with sharp outcroppings of bone and enamel. Tucked under the creatures tail lies your path to its *tasty* interior and with single minded purpose you seethe forward, your gelatinous body plopping and slurping as you lunge forward, your manipulator tendrils wrapping around the rats back legs as you force yourself bodily into the cavity. Your slime aids you in your spelunking expedition as the rats screeches of agony intensify, blood and tissue sizzling alike as they interact with your acidic body. With a final squelching pop, you flip into the nether region's of the Dzizi rats digestive system, the array of predigested pellets of waste serving only to what your appetite as the rat lurches and screeches in agony, ripping its way free of the net in blind pain and staggering away, its belly swollen with your mass as you begin eating it alive.

Support, while we've got all this biomass to work with we should also develop some organ which can effectively kill multiple organisms like this to be prepared for when our temporary shell eventually expires. We probably won't be able to pull this trick off twice against a rat that isn't immobilized and distracted, which means a fair fight. I suggest some kind of whip or tendril like organ with an extremely sharp edge, something which we can strike and kill small animals with easily to defend ourself until we can grow more durable.

Your acids gnaw away at the inside of the rat, liquefied gore and blood nourish growing tissues while your body studies the construction of this unfortunate host on an unconscious level. Terrified squeeks carry it forward, for now the pain has ceased due to all nearby nerve ending's being eaten away. Heavy thumps are muted through a layer of rapidly thinning fat as the rodent crashes through the ducts, slamming into walls and jostling you about.

Eventually, the wild ride stops. Your host has expired, a side effect of digesting an important artery. You are content to push your way up through the digestive track, eyes detecting light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. An odd chuffing noise can be heard, you spot several smaller rats sniffing at the mouth of your host. Apparently it had children.

You stretch your body out, and plug up the available vectors for gas to exit on the rapidly decaying rat. All around you flesh is loosing cohesion as it liquifies into a slurry of nutrients for your rapidly growing body. From the outside the jiggling, bloating corpse draws the attention of it's children who curiously gather around, one attempting to approach for feeding. Soon even the dimwitted purple rodents realize something is wrong, no one should puff up this much. The corpse looking like a foot ball a moment before it explodes, coating everything in the tight chamber with a fine layer of acidic slime and digesting meat.

The ratlings screech and take off slipping as their flesh sizzles and blisters, slamming into thin metal walls or mindlessly biting at eachother in a panic. Your eyes adjust to the gloom and in total you count 4 blinded ratlings and one very dead one who was too close to the blast. You detect strange vibrations that seem to come and go as the scene is surveyed.

Looking around, you spot what is likely the source of the vibrational disturbance. Your acid is eating away rusty ductwork at an alarming rate. Blinded ratlings mostly whimper and stay in place now, grooming their acid scalded fur. The rumbling picks back up again, now more violent, ripples jiggle through your slick flesh.

Interally you shrug, and roll towards the nearest source of biological matter; the dead rat. As you start to flatten out to wrap around it a series of metallic warbles and pings are followed with a loud snap. For the first time in your memory you experience freefall, the Dzizi ratlings screaming in terrified pips to one another as they scrabble for purchase on non existent ground. You really lack the capacity to feel fear, but there is uncertainty slowly registering before you suddenly stop, slamming against the "ceiling" with enough force that your fleshy membrane ruptures. Your traveling companions fared little better, and seem to be dead. You would have moved to consume them but suddenly everything is thrown sideways and you slam into the wall of the severely crumpled duct again.

There is noise, so much noise. Footfalls and machine noise, the acrid emissions of superheated metal and chemicals, voices, smells from countless worlds. Ruddy light shines into your temporary home, illuminating orange blood and gore. A faceless, eyeless rat gasps agonally in it's last moments of life. Staying still you wait for several moments as it expires, nothing his disrupted you so far.

You decide that with the volume of noise and activity, it would be better to stay stationary. Working your way through the crumpled and rotting section of air handling ductwork, you find the mangled bodies of the ratlings. Without much effort, you consume them one by one. Liquified organs and sticky orange blood are soaked through your wet amphibian like skin to be added to the total biomoass. Despite the being at near bursting, you cant help but feel like you lost a lot of potential food there. The urge to assimilate and change is too much, as if you can't control it.

Your crumpled abode becomes tighter as you elongate and grow, taking some semblance of shape. Inside you a cartilage like skeleton is inspired by the Dzizi rat's own begins to take shape. A newly formed spine continues to extend twice your body length into a sinewy tail with a simple keratin point, reinforced by a wad of gummy muscles. Consciously taking your first shuddering breath, instinct takes over settling into an automatic pace. Before you have time to move or stretch your temporary abode goes flying again, impacting into something hard.

After hazarding a moment to peep outside you find that you are against a wall with a large amount of other debris in a massive open air corridor that leads into an even larger chamber. Acrid chemical fumes assault your primitive senses and cause your eyes to water, while a thousand voices compete with one another for significance. A living tide of bipeds, in many different formats, with other species mixed in is overwhelming to look at and causes you to retreat back into the ducting. So far no one has seen you.

There was no option to climb back into the vents. Consider this the first heads up that unless write in is available I won't accept it.

Between groups of bipeds, you dare to poke out an eye stalk just enough to spy a vent which is very close to the garbage. You bubble contently at the thought of getting away from all this danger, your acid has already eroded enough of the duct that you have had to take refuge in the refuse pile. The intact grate is a huge problem though. While rusted, it looks sturdy, too sturdy to force through, and thanks to your new skeleton, you wont be fitting through any thin cracks on it. You notice the other side of the corridor has a large pile of trash as well near it is an open doorway into a darkened maintenance area. Further away machines seem to be automatically collecting piles of garbage periodically.

>6/40 biomass

The trash pile shifts and lurches as you digest your meal, the absorbed biomass repurposed into useful tissues. Under your slime coated, amphibian like skin, muscles and cartilage swell and shift, forcing a rudimentary skeletal structure into being. Your simple eyes move forward along what could vaguely be called your "head" sitting in loose clusters along the front of the thickened cartiliginous shell protecting your slowly condensing cerebral tissues. Your tendrils thicken and lengthen, coils and ropes of muscle similar to that of some simple cephalopod. Your simple spine strengthens and lengthens, adding leverage to your movements while your body stretches out nearly two feet long, your tendrils spaced unevenly along its length in wriggling clusters. The whiplike tendril at the "end" of your body thickens and bulges with bands of cordlike muscle and simple sinews, the simple keratinous blade at its tip extending with the calcite additions of meat and bone scraps from the biological tissues and wastes you had consumed.

You burble and plop happily, slapping your tendrils on the ground contentedly as your eyes peer out into the dim lighting of the corridor, the flood of bipeds, hovering gas bags, quadrupeds and synthetics having passed you by long ago. You seem to have found yourself in a habituated region of the station, likely a lower class area for the workers of the foundry or dock. You can spot nothing but the simple synthetics that scurry along and clean the rubbish away into chutes in the walls and floors. Various vermin and creatures scatter with squeaks and burbles of discontent as the synthetics approach to toss their feeding and breeding grounds into a possible crushing and burning demise.

>52! You escape into the pipes and vents with nary a scratch.
>50>9! The robo-janitors dont even notice you.

Your simple eyes lock on to a Skaali grub, the simple minded insectoid creature wriggling into the vent corner rusted grate. The semi-sentient spawn of the Skaali brood are plump, fast growing and exist as vermin until they reach their pupioid stage and become much more dangerous. But for now, they exist as food that is significantly more filling than a Dzizi rat or some garbage.

With a burble and a hiss of focus, you wriggle after the grub, your tendrils pulling and pushing you along as you flail your way forward in a squigling fashion that eventually becomes serpentine slithers as you accustom to your new body. With single minded determination, you dive into the rusted grate after the fat grub, just inches ahead of the grasping claw of a model X-92 Janitorial Synthetic, the haphazardly assembled robot dimly aware garbage had just moved on its own. It's corroded brain attempts to file this before glitching, a short audio file playing from its speakers before it reprocesses onto its assigned task, picking up used contraceptive barriers and food scraps.

Within the darkened confines of the ductwork and piping, you press yourself low against the floor and examine the myriad of scents and signs that are evident along the floor.

>The four clawed footprints of Dzizi rats. Stupid, fat and weak. Cheap, easy prey.

>The stubby clawed digits of a Skaali grub, the insectoids like to work in groups and are a hearty meal. Beware the molted ones.

>Hunt the grubs.

You drag a tendrils along the faint foot-digit prints in the dust and burble to yourself happily as slither along along the trail of the Skaali grubs. While the creature you saw is only slightly more massive than yourself, it's soft white flesh and gnashing mandibles should be no match for you. Your stinger twitches excitedly as flick it above you, the scalpel sharp point quivering as you imagine plunging it into your victims and rending their delicious entrails into paste.

The deeper You venture into the ductwork, the cooler it grows, the air itself and the metal of the ductwork cold enough that beads of condensation drip down the metal and collect in acrid puddles that shimmer with an oily sheen, your acidic slime hissing slightly as the scraps of organic matter, molds and shed chitin interact with the viscous mucous. You curl into a ball at the edge of a junction and regard a pair of the grubs, tussling over a scrap of a half eaten Kyrian Wriggler, the multiplied amphibian torn to shreds by their jaws. Behind the tussling Grubs, a nest of resinous chitin and discarded rubbish is piled along the far wall of the junction, blocking one duct entirely. Grubs drowse and munch happily on their pilfered stores of food, their only thought on feeding and growing. You almost feel a kinship with them before a much larger figure emerges from the nest, shoving aside one of the smaller grubs and snatching its scavenged Dzizi rat pup, the freshly molted Skaali Nymph using its sharpened forelimbs to rip the pups carcass apart and shove it into its maw, blood and putrescent slime dropping down its pale white carapace as the eight legged insectoid lurches back into the makeshift nest, it's compound eyes glistening wetly as it bullies more food from its smaller brethren.

>96: Rats it is.
You retreat for now, slithering back through the artificial caves, through rotted holes in long forgotten bulkheads and under machines that occupy a place between antique and ancient, still thrumming away and barely operable through the unique blend of maintenance and neglect a slowly failing automated system can provide. None of that mattered for you, only the scent; a large community of Dzizi rats happily squeaked and chirruped near by, not far now, just shy of a hundred...

It actually took work to prod them into motion, so fat, content, and lazy were they, feeding off of some sort of biological waste sluice pipe like a great teat of some forgotten god. After non fatally stabbing a few in the rump, the horde got the idea and the stampede began, the rat collective fleeing their new threat. Of course they tried to scatter, but those that did were rapidly caught in sticky acidic strands. Their screeching and thrashing served a far better funnel than anything else available. Path by twisting path, the rats made their way back to the lair of the nymph.

The grubs seemed to notice first, ceasing their nibbling of some mildly glowing radioactive fungus, white bodies articulating at the head to scan in the source of the growing vibration. Little rolls of insectoid fat collected around their heads as they did. In time to be trampled under a wave of fuzzy flesh. The few rats that were struck down by their indignation were replaced ten fold, and then ten fold again, a squeaking tide that had long forgotten why they were running and only that they had ran far enough. Soon they simply began to mindlessly eat once more, content to be around food.

The Nymph would put a quick end to that, exploding from the darkness to gorge itself on their flesh, all the while you held the other end of the cavern, preventing the rats from fleeing. Instead a swirling vortex of furry panic and terror shits ensued. Gulping greedily, orange blood spilling from it's jaws the nymph ate unto torpor and immobility, its simple insect mind allowing for no other option. Once it was resting, changes taking place within it's body that would prepare it for the molt, you moved in, lidless eyes staring, almost admiring the organism for a moment as the rats made the first wise choice of their life and scattered from the two predators.

You spend the next few moments considering what to do in your own little goopey way. Worming your way into it's slumbering throat was not overly difficult, even as your acids started to work on it's exoskeleton. What was an issue was when it started to wake up in panic. A quick jab of your bladed tail through the soft pallet into it's brain put an end to that with an ad-hoc lobotomy. The overstuffed gullet of the nymph served to insulate it against your acids, mutilated fluffy corpses taking the brunt of your biology. Nestled in a temporary cocoon made of liqifying fur and flesh, you bask in the nutrients and unfurl tendrils away from your body, seeking out the ganglions just beyond the muscular gullet of the nymph.

The Nymph begins to jerk erratically to the rats who had already begun to nervously chew at it's tail, causing them to scatter. Slowly, the thing rises up, a blank stare and slack jaws as it takes wobbly and tentative movements forward.

First post from me, I think improving our bite, perhaps with a venomous set of fangs or an octopus like beak, would be useful. I also like suction cup tendrils for better wall climbing- spider slime goes where spider slime wants.

Within the pale and faintly hissing husk of chitin and insectile bulk that used to be a Skaali Nymph, a change occurs in the deepest recess of your body. Bloated with digested biomatter and potential, you withdraw your tendrils from the nerve ganglion of the Nymph and curl yourself into a ball roughly where it's second stomach would be, bubbling softly in a makeshift cocoon of digesting flesh and softening chitin.

Your simple skull, vaguely oblong and dotted with your simple eye clusters elongated slightly, splitting across the bottom into a rudimentary jaw that is reinforced with calcium heavy cartilage and lined with stubby keratinous fangs, their hollow interiors repurposed as injection ports for small acidic nodules. Your bodily structures realign, allowing the jaw to be the main port of entry for biomatter you consume. A simple connective tube lines the back of your gullet and leads to a rudimentary stomach (merely the repurposed remains of your digestive vacoules collected into a larger sack) wedged beneath your simple lungs. Your skin is still capable of absorbing nutrients, water and air and producing the caustic slime that serves as the basis of your digestion but now you have the ability to eat as you used too. Within your thickening and expanding cartilage based skull, your simple neurological tissues grow and expand, forming a dense knot of neurons. You feel your simple consciousness "ascend" as you absorb more information from the world around you. While nowhere near on par with a sentients brain or even a particularly intelligent insect, you are leagues above the simple slime you started out as.

The tendrils clusters along your serpentine length condense like vines growing together, the groups of threes and fours fusing into longer and thicker single tendrils that are dotted on their underside with pockets of rubbery tissue in concave divots lined with deceptively powerful muscles. They pop with suction as you plop your tendrils along the interior of the Nymphs shell, providing a greatly increased amount of grip. You're not sure without testing but you believe slow movement along horizontal surfaces and even vertical ones could be possible if you take your time.

>Examine your surroundings.

Like a subterannean creature popping up to view the outside world, you experimentally poke your head from a gap in the Nymphs Chiron armor, the gap having been one of the junctions between the insectoid xeno's thorax and head. What greets your simplified, fishlike eyes is a battlefield of grotesque proportions that serves to only make your newly formed stomach rumble in hunger. Dzizi rats and Skaali grubs lay in piles of wounded and slain, the Nymphs rampage of ravenous hatred having rent their bodies to shreds and appeared them under piercing forelimbs. Gnawed and masticated body parts lay scattered about, offal and various bodily fluids concealing in dark puddles around the savaged forms of the plump Dzizi rats and the previously unworried Skaali grubs. The casualties faced by both sides were enormous, the stampede of Dzizi rats suffocating and crushing the grubs under weight of numbers while the grubs powerful jaws tore and savaged the rats even as the bulbous larvae drowned in their opponents blood. Wounded and half crushed grubs slowly emerge from piles of their purple nemesese bodies while maimed Dzizi rats squeal unhappily, their blunt incisors gnashing the air as they stupidly attempt to get their bodies to move despite grievous and maiming injuries.

Intact and amazingly dimwitted Dzizi rats have overtaken the nest of the Skaali grubs, the scant few remainder of the insectoids holding their territory like virulent spring traps, lunging from their crevices to drag flailing rodents to a gruesome demise. The few Dzizi rats who witness this are far too dimwitted to even be alarmed, more concerned with the amount of food to be found here and the lack of hordes of tiny purple offspring.

They're already breeding for crying out loud.

You absentmindedly slurp up a cocktail of liquefied Dzizi rat and the remains of the nymphs respiratory organs, the delicious mixture coursing down your newly formed throat as you withdraw into your makeshift shell.

>Wounded and maimed Grubs and rats abound, while easy prey their scent and sound may draw some larger creatures to investigate. The Dzizi rats and Skaali grubs are attempting to garner control of this territory, the rats through overpopulation while the grubs through brutal murder.

Target the injured and crippled and the dead, drag them into the depths of the decrepit walls, pack a space full of bodies. That way we can horde food and get out of here, then crawl back into our wall space and devour our catch at our leisure. Leave our corrosive webbing allover this place as we collect easy prey too, if something bigger comes to investigate we might be able to cripple it by laying traps, making it sufficiently weak that we can attack it and swing ourselves yet another large meal.

+1 this
Sounds like the best way to go about it.

The acid webbing seems like a really effective tool, allowing us to take down opponents way above our weight class. Maybe we can eventually develop it into even deadlier traps, like acid sacs exploding on touch or something like a zerg spine crawler. We Zerg hive now.
>>
>>3139421
>>3139437
This, with a focus on just grabbing and hiding the dead to make it quick.

Second, put acid down yes but put it a) on the wounded wherever they breathe from so it gets in their lungs, finishing them off, and b) if we put it anywhere else, place it so that the acid leads away from wherever we go.

> get before a big player shows up.

I've noticed most bio quests seem to Bad End when Anons get too greedy and either attract a top predator, or sentient NPCs who then hunt them down.

So, just putting it out there, but I think it could be worth losing potential bio-mass in favor of caution until we have a better idea of where we are, what sort of ecology there is, etc.

Then again, it's a one shot.
>>
>>3139492
Well we have acid injecting fangs for one. It also looks like we started out with acid stored in nodules within us.

It might be worth considering being able to spray it out like a skunk, so that it irritates and damages sensory organs of predators.

Also the acid sack aspect gives me an idea - we could leave a corpse or two out for scavenging with an acid nodule hidden inside it, so that when the scavenger tries to eat the nodule bursts.

Hopefully inside the scavenger, probably just on whatever it uses to investigate the corpse, but even if it doesn't do anything to the scavenger it should at least taint the corpse so that it tastes bad.

We still don t have things like smell or hearing, a better sense of tact (that could help us in feel movement from the ground), better lungs and more tentacles. (that can become useful for a lot of things. For example 2 of them could just spit acid other 2 could have spikes and become whips)

avoid greater lifeforms, if we are not sure that we can take advantage of a moment of weakness.

It s better to eat more garbage, rats and this insects than try to kill a beast far more great and intelligent.

With this areas "apex" predator down, consumed from within by your acidic self, youre sure its only a matter of time until another comes along to claim the territory. You're sure that if worst came to worst, you could stand your ground and hold this intersection but honestly, youd rather not risk it. A quick survey of the immediate area reveals a broken pipe, its edges rusted out and releasing a slow drip of oily water that forms part of the central pool of this intersection. The pipe connects to a larger system that is sure to have plenty of room for you especially with your serpentine shape.

You spend the next few hours dragging the tattered, battered, crushed and smothered remains of several Dzizi rats and Skaali grubs into the pipe, wrenching the larger ones limb from limb to make them fit through the opening if their bulk objects to the narrow steel sphincter. The interior of the pipe is corroded, lined with greasy, dripping molds and mildly glowing fungi, the endless trickle of water feeding a bed of thready blue moss that textures the bottom of the pipe enough that you have no issue finding purchase in the metal" especially aided by your new suction cups on your stronger tendrils.

Within the pipe, you pile your hoard along a bend in a widening section of the piping, peeking your eyes through a corroded portion overlooking the intersection of the ductwork. The few remaining Skaali grubs seem to shrink back in alarm as a skittering and snuffling echoes along the metallic labyrinth, claws clicking and scraping along the corroded alloy as the scent of bloodshed and carrion draws a new player into the arena of death.

A particularly large Grub attempts to ward off the approaching predator, hissing and clicking its oversized jaws, putting its loose skin up until it looks nearly twice its original size. With a wet thump and a snarl of irritation, a clawed and scaled forelimbs crushes the uppity insect into a paste of gore and torn flesh, dragging the remains forward before scooping them up with a tri-furcated maw, its interior lined with needlelike fangs. The creature is so large compared to the grubs that the floor freaks under its weight, it's six scaled limbs scratching the metal with curved talons that screech menacingly as the beast consumes the remains of the grub with a pair of large slurping bites, a long tongue cleaning it's claws of the greenish gore left by the grub's demise. The beast is so constrained by the relatively narrow confines of the ductwork it must bunch forward, creeping up slowly to reap the harvest of your efforts.

>65: Acid Bukkake
The beast stops its slavering and messy chewing to chuff at the air; a long sinewy tongue whips over it's face exposing numerous small pits that seem to vibrate slightly. Making it's way over to your pipe to investigate your loot no doubt. As you back up further, you emit a small hiss thanks to weak lungs. The warning is ignored and a tongue works it's way towards your kill pile, behind it a three jawed mouth fits around the pipe you hide in. Resolving that this is not ok, you hawk a massive acidic hawker down the pipe, over the tongue and straight into the maw of the offending fucker. There is a momentary pause as the Vaalen Scavenger chews the acid before the screeching begins. It's tongue almost immediatly melts off in a collection of liquefied meat and acid, something you merrily lap up as the entertainment outside continues. The beast's size makes it's thrashings rather destructive in the confined space, sparks and noxious gas begin filling the area, and even with your simple biology you feel ill. Its time to escape and sadly you might have to leave your stash behind for now. You look over at the pile of meat longingly. It is unfair. If you were able to process such feelings with your tiny, tiny, stupid little brain...time to escape. Behind you lies the mysteries of the unexplored pipe and its no doubt manyfold path. Ahead of you the Scavenger has exposed itself to you, leading to a possible repeat performance of the previous adventure, and with it possibilities. What turns from possibly poison gas becomes an explosion hazard as small puffs of flame start to gout from the pipes in the makeshift arena.

You lurch out of your hidey hole in the pipe and lunge at the six legged creature; the initial attempt to burrow into it's hind quarters was defeated by flailing limbs and outraged shrieks, the creature is angry at your attempts. Turning around to issue a warning roar it's trifold maw opens wide and...gags on you. An impressive leap into the jaws of death see you slide unharmed down the beast's gullet. It's stomach is full of tasty carrion and acid much more mild than your own. Almost immediately there is a war between it attempting to vomit you out, and your tendrils attempting to anchor you in place. after a protracted back and fourth, it would seem you are not going anywhere despite the thrashing. Tendrils dig in past muscle and find the crude neurons of the gut. Various signals studied and copied from the rats and insects yield mixed results. Eventually you find a signal that induces a wild and mad need to run, anywhere, everywhere, which is exactly what the Vaalen does. You are unsure as to where this ride will end, your brain is too weak to properly control something like this, let alone take over it's optic nerves, however you slow down the digestion and simply wait out the muted thunderous noises; Some explosive, other loud thumping of scaley feet, and at one point audible noises made by the bipeds you saw prior. Finally, hurt, terrified, and exhausted, the creature seems to have found a place to stop. Pained whimpers emit from your host, no doubt due to you digesting it's upper intestines. A furious scratching can be heard, it seems that the beast will tear itself open to be rid of you.

Between the amount of scraps eaten from the creature's belly, to the nibbles you had earlier from the carrion field, there is more than enough biomass to sustain you. a long whipping tail begins to slice about from within, lashing open vital arteries and cutting important nerves. Soon the creature lies dying in a state of foxfire, as muscles spasm uselessly and a heart flutters without any fluid to pump. You gorge happily on everything, not stopping until you have had your fill, unlike the tougher insect this creature is almost all immediately bioavailable. Wherever you are is dark, quiet, and humid, there is a faint scratching and a hydraulic hiss that can be heard, as well as a few shafts of light in the distance, but that is unimportant, you are too full, too full...time...for change.

Within the darkness you feel...no understand, you understand the changes taking place within your worm like body. Clusters of neurons bulge beneath translucent skin as branching arteries rush to feed a growing mind, greymatter pulsates beneath a flexible membrane. Lungs enlarge and stretch, flowing downward as the rudimentary shape of a chest etches itself onto an otherwise tube shape. Gasping breaths bring elation, and new sensory data, chemical and olfactory detection improved via larger air samples. Lastly you feel a pressing need to STRETCH, and do so. Long tendrils previously only equipped with simple suction cups now each sport their own little sub tendrils, though untested you can feel the strength in them. Clinging to walls is not impossible, and grasping things is not either. There is a big world out there should you just reach out and take it. You burble contentedly and skitter off into the darkness like the inbred offspring of a centipede, snake, lungfish, and a nightmare.

Plastic implements are mixed with leftover cooked Biological matter as it is pressed into a chamber, crushed, and shoved down a hole. Where it goes is a mystery, but you could follow it. Cold air meets you like a slap to the face, a new sensation. The hinged vent cover flaps slightly in the breeze as you work a tendril under it and ease your way into the room. Cold, but not cold enough for ice formation. You smell it there, carrion. Where? Only metal doors, but the smell is enticing. The grey tile floors are dimly illuminated by greenish white overhead lights that flicker in erratic pulses every so often. Near you is a well used and stained circular drain, just big enough for you if the cover was removed.

One of the doors is slightly ajar, and up on the third row. With a bubbling hiss it's plastic housing melts away, corrosion eating into the logic unit within. A fail safe to prevent corpse theft locks the door. This is probably not a reputable facility. You have likely alerted someone to your presence, but it will be a while before anyone comes to check. the door is strong and heavy from it's appearance. Sliding back into the refrigerated cell, you get cozy with the biomass, acids dripping from your maw in an involuntary response. The corpse is a welcome change from garbage and things that fight back.

>Gained 100 biomass

>110/160 biomass

Soon all that is left on the metal slab are mildly acidic juices and one bloated monster. You are the latter. Hunger still wracks you, but you notice the first attempt at investigating the door "Thing's broken again. fuck. Go get Carl." There is so much potential here, you are loathe to leave it behind, but you eat so slowly right now.

Slamming open the next container over, you discover it holds the body of an individual who has been torn, or perhaps gnawed in half. You quickly slither into the thoracic cavity, feasting on viscera and bone. Upesettingly this one has much metal in it, much plastic. Inorganic. The feast is over as quick as it started, soon all that is left is a corroding composite skeleton and machine parts which are of no interest to you. Still, as slight as it was, there is enough biomass within you for a new metamorphosis. Your intellect allows you to make some quick decisions based on the situation. The door is starting to shake as someone on the other side manually opens it.

>Lv3 Parasite
>Parasite allows for successive levels of control over an organism, with checks against it's ability to resist you. Parasites can also improve the combat endurance of their host by duplicating vital organ function such as motor control, filtration, pulmonary and circulation. Higher levels of parasite allow for finer control and improved

The biomass is used in such a different way than last time, you feel your body growing more dense, cohesive, sensitive. Inside you filtering organs expand and swell, like bloody sausages ready to deal with the toxins of the world while capillaries and nerve endings fill the surface of your skin as acidic slime gives way to mucous, so much mucous. The extreme tip of your rubbery head calcifies into a sort of pointy beak while tendrils lengthen and wrap neatly around the trunk of your body. New instincts awaken, and you know immediately what you need to do to increase your chances of survival. One of the slabs contains a very recently dead individual, less than 4 hours, some organs have failed, other parts have not, really the muscles just need signal and oxygen. Its a bit of a fixer upper, but you can smell the chemical signals of a body still struggling in a futile battle against death...

You slip into the small box and push your way into the abdomen of the cadaver. Muscles are cramping, struggling for nutrients as the rest of the more oxygen hungry parts of the body suffered cell death or damage hours ago. Tendrils extend to major arteries, and muscles, burrowing and connecting. Soon you take your first deep breath with modified lungs and pump oxygen into the corpse. Unimportant organs are liquified to nourish you and the host. The optic nerves are unable to see but you extend your head out the maw of the body for proper vision, hanging like a bloated tongue. Your new body flops out of the storage unit and onto the floor with a flop and clatter. You broke your neck, no biggie. As you are pushing to your newfound feet "carl", the biped walks in carrying a box of tools and looks up from the ground to you "OH FU" a backhand knocks the creature to the ground, with it's head smacking against the wall. While not dead, it is injured, and apparently unconscious. Upon examination, it is a portly, elderly example of it's species, with a thick bristly structure above it's consumption orifice.

Without much deliberation, you quickly break down the current host for nutrients as efficiently as you can. Blood is infused with digestive acids and the biological mulch is pumped back into your body, soon a wet sack of leathery skin and bone is all that is left, you being slightly richer in biomass for the effort. Carl was in the middle of suffering an unconscious aneurysm as you entered his mouth and quickly took control of his nervous system, saving his life really. He should be thankful. Instead his body goes still and he tries to yell.

Your tendrils dig deep into Carls nervous system, microscopic interactions and chemical releases piloting his body while his hemorrhaging brain screams in helpless horror, desperately attempting to control his body as you steer him towards the containers embedded in the morgue wall. Carls body is weak, softened by a lifetime of being near sedentary, broken only by the occasional need to perform a quick autopsy to determine cause of death. Carl's shaking hands, clumsily piloted by you as you hijack more and more of his body, pull open one of the sliding drawers, drawing forth the nearly undamaged but mildly decomposed body of a mature Kllrkrrkii, the blue tinged sextapedal equine xeno laid low by the neatly burned hole through the center of its grey matter. Carl's mind reels in revulsion as his hands dig into the incision in the xenos torso, pulling handfuls of viscera forth, blueish green gore clinging to his fingers as he shovels handful after handful into his mouth.

Crude, blunt and ineffective teeth mash on the offal and lumps of gore, tearing them apart with extreme effort on the part of carls jaw muscles. Already, they cramp and squeal for mercy, pain flooding the poor humans brain as his hands shove another pile of mangled organs into his mouth, the acrid, stinking scent of faintly rotting xeno flesh filling his nostrils as he forcibly swallows.

Or at least attempts to.

The heart and respiratory organs of a Kllrkrrkii are extremely tough it seems, the tissues being used to the high stresses as the equine demos fled from the predators of their homeworld. Carl's weak, human jaws, aided only by your intending will and lack of mercy, cannot hope to match their gristly toughness as a particularly tough chunk catches in the poorly designed entrance of Carl's trachea, blocking it solidly. Panic and various chemical stress hormones flood Carl's system, inundating your senses with information that your erstwhile host simply cannot breathe. His hands continue robotically stuffing gore into his maw, dark blue blood dripping from his chin as the meat simply piles up in his throat, unable to proceed past the intrusion.

>Your host is choking to death.

Not sure about that, if we only get brain and sense improvements?
I'd try to get the meatsuit to accept our presence and cooperate. He is a weak corpse cutter, us giving him physical improvement, regeneration, respect and reproduction abilities, should convince him. We will live in a symbiotic relationship gaining a constant food supply and a save shelter. We will become smartest and maybe psionic boy, possibly starting a cult and infecting others.

>Total mutations to Carl
>Improved Trachea/Esophagus/Jaw (-20BM)

If the action had any relevance to you (and if you had the biological capability to do so) you would roll your multiple eyes as you focus your will on not allowing your host to die over a chunk of gristle. Your body swells and ripples, your tendrils pulsing as a thick, pale green fluid is expelled from your tendrils, directly into Carl's bloodstream. Thos fluid is rich in cells, unattributed and simple, capable of becoming any tissue, any organ, anything you can imagine. Similar to stem cells in their adaptability, these simple lumps of genetic material and biomass set to work on Carls body, modifying it in ways that send the humans mind into shock, his consciousness flickering out like a light as his mind refuses to accept this.

The muscles and tissues of Carl's throat and jaw ripple and expand, corded tissues overlapping and thickening. The offending chunk of meat is simply extruded back from the trachea as the newly improved throat muscles push the pile of meat down Carl's gullet with nearly no effort at all. With a wet plop and a hiss of digestion" nearly four pounds of raw, rotting flesh drop into Carl's stomach, your combined acids melting them quickly into a nutrient rich soup that you slurp up happily as the changes continue.
>(+4 Biomass)
The muscles of Carl's jaw expand and thicken, expanding along his lower jaw and neck, his teeth cracking and breaking, falling from his gums as new growth is forced up. Thicker, harder, stronger and sharper teeth emerge from beneath the old, fused with Carl's jaw they are far more formidable than the previous ones and unless his mouth is inspected by a trained dentist nobody will be the wiser.

As Carl's jaw and throat are redesigned by you on a cellular level, you also renovate your new home, Carl's digestive system. The walls of his stomach become inundated with your cells, the mucus they produce rendering your acids harmless to Carl's digestive organs unless you will it to be so. His stomach and intestines become more efficient and gain increased capacity, able to strip every ounce of nutrition from any matter you order him to consume. With a flicker of thought, Carl's body returns to his task of feeding on the Kllrkrrkii's corpse, tearing the flesh apart and shoving handfuls into his mouth, his new teeth and jaw making short work of it now.

You nestle deeper into Carl's system, your tendrils splitting and spreading out as tiny filaments of tissue that integrate with every portion of his nervous system. You see what Carl sees, you feel what he feels, you hear what he hears, you taste what he wishes he wasnt tasting. If you weren't piloting his unconscious body as a meat suit, you're sure he'd be screaming in terror but for now, his mind slumbers.

Carl's body freezes as you remember to check and see if there are any others coming along to interrupt your feast. You heard multiple voices at one point before the door opened so it stands to rradon there are more than one sentients around here. Holding the severed leg of the Kllrkrrkii and busily gnawing chunks of flesh from it, Carl staggers along to the door, drenched in blueish green blood and covered in scraps of mildly rotten alien flesh.

As his unfocused and blank eyes peer up and down the hall, cold air rushing past from the morgue interior, you can spy no movement except the faint silhouette behind a opaque glass barrier at the end of the hall. Behind the barrier, a bipedal form reclines in a chair, lifting something and tilting it back in repeated motions. Carl subconsciously shakes his head in irritation at the junior morgue technicians habit of drinking on the job.

You bring Carl's hands up into your view and are disappointed at the weakness of the muscles and bones within them and the lack of sharp claws, talons or crushing pincers. It seems, if this comes to combat, you will have to do your best to improvise. A quick survey of the morgue reveals a slotted metal table lined with various metallic and polymer tools that have vicious edges, points and serrations that would have a wonderfully messy effect on these soft bipedal.

>You are unable to "communicate" with Carl directly. The most you can do is either directly control him via his central nervous system or via chemical impulses. You'll have to improve both your brain and your parasite abilities before you can have symbiote level conversation.

>Continue feast and then clean Carl off.

With the junior morgue technician nice and indisposed there is nothing stopping you from tearing open another of the capsules, exposing the pale form of a human female that would be considered lovely if she hadn't been covered in gang tattoos and marred by the vicious slashing wounds left by Skaali brood warriors. Its a wonder her corpse is at least more or less intact. These details are lost on you as Carl's improved teeth rip a hefty lump of meat, skin and subcutaneous fat from her thigh. Reinforced teeth chewing quickly, immensely strong esophageal muscles swallowing with a groan of immense hunger as you swim about the growing pool of biomatter in Carl's expanding stomach.

You absorb the welcome feast greedily, passing along portions so Carl's body can sustain itself, a clump of your biomatter rich tissues departing to stem the bleed in his brain and repair the damaged tissue with those of your own design. Carl's mind is slowly becoming part of yours, his cells being replaced by yours one by one. With each alteration you make, the lowly morgue technician becomes less than he was but also more than he could ever imagine. Already the pains in his knee and hip are departing as your tissues regenerate or replace damaged and failing tendons and joints. New muscle growth begins creeping along under the skin as you adjust your hosts physiology to suit your needs.

It really takes just a short while for Carl to strip the corpse down to bloody and gnawed bones, his belly distended with raw and neurotic flesh that you are busily reducing to useable biomass. With a weary thought, you direct Carl's unconscious body to the morgue shower, stripping off his disposable garments and after examining his memories on how to operate the shower, cleansing every trace of your feast from your hosts body. After some guesswork, you select some poorly fitting replacement garb from a drawer near the shower and after again reviewing Carls memories you successfully operate the mechanics of getting dressed in new disposable morgue scrubs.

With Carl's outward appearance returned to near normalcy (minus a few scraps of flesh in his new teeth) You apply a small chemical nudge to his brain, bioelectrical impulses triggering a cascade effect that wipes the goings on of the last hour from Carl's mind, completely scouring his short term memory of his horror, his revulsion and terror. With another small nudge, your tendrils firmly coiled into his grey matter, Carl's mind slowly fades back into consciousness. Confusion and mild shock comes across as he surveys the mess of the morgue, the bent grate you made your way in through and the mangled bodies on the slabs.

"Shit.... Shut! Shit fucking shit! Jay! JAY! Get your ass in here! A damn Vaalen got in here and ate half our damn stock! Jaaaaayyy!!!"
Carl bellows, rubbing the knot on the back of his head from where he must have slipped in all this blood and hit his head. Carl isnt too concerned with the mess, hes used to being around messy piles of meat and bone but its when those piles of meat and bone are cutting into your profits.

Its not easy running a mildly illegal Organ/Cybernetic mod harvesting operation but Angel Station has a absence of major laws and a plethora of corpses nobody will miss.

Carl scowl and rubs his jaw as his junior tech Jay hustles in wielding a Arkellian Shock baton and smelling vaguely of cheap rotgut. At your urging, Carls mood shifts into the red and the senior tech grabs his junior by the collar, pushing the younger man back against the door frame.
"Ive been in here void knows how long, slipped and knocked the SHIT out of myself amd your ass was sitting back there drinking that swill T'riki makes weren't you?!? Dont fucking lie to me you dipshit. Grab a mop, grab a bucket and CLEAN THIS SHIT UP. And after that, you're gonna go down to the blood pits and see if you can pick up replacements for the stock YOU LET GET EATEN!!"

Jay's pockmarked face goes pale as his normally mild mannered boss nearly crushes his windpipe with a crushingly strong grip, lifting him up till his only his toes remain on his feet. Watery blue eyes go wide as Carl releases him, pushing him into the morgue and striding off, cursing wildly to himself. Jay warily watches his boss stride away, rubbing his throat before sighing in disgust and resignation as he takes in the mess of the morgue.

In the main office (if a repurposed maintenance room could be called a office) Carl pulls his jacket and hat on, making sure his cred-chip is safely stowed in his pocket. Uttering one final curse before he turns to the door, swinging it open and stepping out into the lower levels of the residential decks. The light on this deck is gloomy and flickering but for some reason his vision isnt as impaired as usual as he steps into the stuffy and chemically scented air, rubbing a stomach that feels uncomfortably full despite being extremely hungry.

Let s wait some months. We can slowly create a connection with him and learn many things (especially everything of Carl/ and everything that exist on the spacenet : languages, talking, weapons, technology, states, sentient species, cultures, animals&plants, religions, food, military, robots, fighting styles ecc. .....).
After this months (in this months we need to slowly influence him in is decisions and make him love the idea of living with a being like us), Carl will leave this job, change identity and make is body and mind perfect. Then he will have the idea of finding a better job, make a lot of new friends and make a new religion for all.

>92! Carl has a excellent fucking day.

You let go of the proverbial reins and let Carl go about his day unaware of the control you have over him. The aging morgue tech sticks his hands in his pockets, making sure to keep a tight grip his cred chip in his pocket. He rubs his stomach, a craving for a good rare... Bloody rare Koryx steak making his mouth water at the thought but he shakes his head.
"Can't afford those fuckers willy nilly.... Guess I'll get a nice noodle cup"

Making his way through the twisting, turning passages of the lower residential decks, Carl nods at the looming gangers and vagrants, many of them either being direct recipients or knowing someone who had been saved by a less than legally acquired organ being made available or a handy cybernetic augment being found on the cheap. So while the gangers are more than dangerous to anyone less than a Federation assault squad, they ignore the moustached figure of Carl as he steps into the gloomy and mildly shaky elevator between this deck and the market deck housing a particularly nice noodle shop that hes sure uses actual meat in their cups. It might be Dzizi rat. It might be human. The only thing that matters is its fucking tasty.

Carl soon finds himself in Angel stations market district, chowing down on particularly delicious hot noodle cup, rich with chunks of unidentifiable meat and strange vegetables that crossed the line between crunchy and chewy. The multiplied Hurj behind the bar does the work of an entire kitchen by itself. The purple skinned xeno cranks out noodle cups by the dozen to hungry mouths of various species as Carl tips the cup back and swallows heavily, exhaling a cloud of hot steam as the spiced broth courses down his throat.
>+1 Biomass
>130/160 Biomass.

Carl pays half a credit for the noodle cups and stands from his seat, cracking his neck as his stomach lurches slightly, a muscle spasm almost feeling like something was shifting within him. He disregards this as merely some Acterian peppers in the broth and shoves his hands in his pockets, resigning himself to go on a walk.

The week goes by with Carl's routine being fairly simple. He goes to hunt for bodies, returns to his lair, goes to the charnel ground, and eats the kills of others. If you were a smarter bug with more brains, abstract ideas would be better understood, but for now you get the idea. You cant even mimic or really understand language yet, so during times of direct control you simply grunt or ignore people. The idea to blend in is there, however there were a few...instances. A TV feed blares its mindless langauge at you. You've taken to watching the images when there is nothing else to do. A button when pressed cycles channels.

"Local noodle stand and crowd favorite destroyed during drug fueled rampage. Local gangs swear vengence against the Berserker of Angel station. Interviews with those involved describe him as a man between 5 and 7 feet tall with an inhuman look in his eyes. A substantial bounty is available for information leading to his capture, or kill! Back to you for the pollution index, Malcolm!"

"...Thats when he saved my life but ate his ear!"

*click*

"We vow to return bigger and better, with even more meat! See our grand opening..."

*click*

....several hours pass. Carl should now be "awake" with a mental nudge you roll him face first out of bed and onto the floor with a meaty slap. He gets up with a grunt and a curse. Time to start the day.

Lv4 Brain

Within Carl, you are safer and stronger than if you were alone. His flesh has aided you, been yours, and brought you sustenance. Now bloated with potential, you morph again, writhing within the guts of the older man. He clutches his belly, swearing off alien food, not the first, and not the last time in his life. Instead of growing larger, you grow more complex, denser again. Neural matter develops complex ridges and new lobes while thick nerves extend into your tendrils, carrying and receiving much stronger signals than before. His language is almost comprehensible, but its just beyond your mind. What is not lost on you is emotion, and comprehension. You understand, and can grasp more complex ideas. The concept of delayed gratification lays just on top of a predator's patience. Empathy...Carl is hungry, and disappointed. His ritual of cleansing his body and orifices causes him distress each time he sees his own reflection.

>You can now detect carl's emotional state, and understand simple cause/ effect and machinery.
>>3148525
>54: Eat some noodles.

Carl's normal grazing area was destroyed in an unavoidable midnight prowling session in which you obtained a supply of meat. Interestingly, it is of no source you have encountered before, a true mystery. As you ponder xenomeat, your host makes quick time through a small alleyway littered with trash and standing water, its walls a conglomeration of conduit, leaking pipes, and the occasional window. Down a staircase that anyone not local would easily miss, there is a sudden and lurching shift in gravity. It is weaker here, and roughly 90 degrees from where you were previously oriented. Your enhaned senses help guide the man, his nose follows exotic, savory blends of herbs and broth. The neighborhood is not unknown to the host, but Carl seems uncomfortable in this area, the locals do not acknowledge him here. This territory is foreign. Few bipeds are here, and most are odd gas sacks, or the equine creatures of which you previously consumed.

Across a street full of doors that are too narrow, and under harsh blue white light, it is spotted. A noodle "cart". The anti gravity wagon has seen better days, a constant clicking and groaning is a clear give away that it has had a hard life. Atop it a ramshackle countertop and one man kitchen sit with a strange slug like organism slinging noodles. A dozen individuals stand at a long slatted bar top, eating. An occasional glob of slug mucous falls into the broth but no patron seems to offer complaint. The smell. The steam. The host breaths deeply, taking in the scent, you do too. Nutrients. Biomass. Ever so slightly you stimulate his digestive system. Hunger. Counterside he orders via a simple touch pad with pictures. Happy then angry. The slug ignores Carl.
>>
>>3148580
The extra musculature you put into his body gives his formerly arthritic hands strength. The past week has boosted his confidence, with a body that no longer hurts. With the slightest nudge you could direct Carl.

"Xeno!" the old fashioned commentary carries no weight, and despite a total lack of facial features the Slug looks...bored. The attempt falters, bluster comes across as elderly yammering, and earns a few snickers from the crowd as the older human attempted to intimidate the mollusk. Eventually the alien takes the order, and overcharges Carl for the pleasure of it. With food in hand, but defeat in heart, your host makes his way to an empty section of the long bar top, away from the locals.

The expensive >SMALL< order of noodles steams away, precious volume escaping into the atmosphere. The contents shift around in their oddly shaped disposable cup taking longer to settle due to the lower gravity here. Two of the larger aliens from the other end of the bar flank either side of Carl while a third dominates the space in front of Carl. "Human. We should tear off your arms and skull fuck you for coming here." with a flick of it's meaty paw the reptilian alien knocks over the small cup of noodles, broth runs between the plastic slats and onto the station's floor. "Today though, we play a fun game, then we rip your arms off and skull fuck you." With a sharp thud, a knife is rammed up through the slats to the left and right of your host; the alien slams it's elbow down between them and opens its paw, expectantly. Carl is terrified. Large paws rest on his shoulders ensuring escape is not an easy choice. You get the idea of whats going on. A test of upper body strength.

>94: we can be the anti-hero this station needs?

Your modifications to the Carl host have been subtle, but have also had a week to really settle in. Externally he is still the same portly, miserable old fuck he has always been. Internally, there is a little more strength to him than meets the eye. Sweat runs down his cheeks, pupils dilate then constrict to pinpoints, adrenaline and norepinephrine begin pumping into his blood stream, stimulating the sympathetic nervous system. These creatures are inefficient but there are a few charming elements to their biology. The ones they dont control outright tend to be the best ones. He is past fear and into mechanical response. You give him the barest nudge.

Instead of grasping the alien to meet in a rigged game of arm wrestling which would end poorly, your host grabs the back of his captor's heads and slams them down face first onto the knives. Hyperventilation. Disbelief. Mild euphoria. He is excited, slightly proud, very terrified.

Chatting and acerbic laughter at your expense abruptly ends, the clatter of utensils on plastic, ceases. All eyes are on "you". It was exactly enough of an opportunity for the large reptilian to punch Carl straight in his augmented jaw. Hardened bone and dense muscle absorb the blow, but cause a minor concussion, your optical feed to the outside world blacks out around the periphery as the human and reptile shout at each other with noise you dont quite understand. Your opponent clearly weighs more than you by at least several hundred pounds. The other two. They seem to be pretty dead. That's a lot of biomass...even Carl seems to acknowledge there is a degree of value to those two corpses.

You can taste the hormones coursing through Carl's system, the electrical impulses flickering along his nerves, the narrowing field of his vision, the mild concussion pressing down on his thoughts, the bruised and bloodied tissue of his jaw. All of this and more filters down to you as the hulking Jarga'ki vaults over the counter, teptilian maw spread wide as several hundred pounds of scaled flesh barrel towards Carl (and by default yourself) like a runaway mining rig. Carl's body shifts as you trigger microscopic adjustments and chemical triggers, releasing hormones and stimulants that flood Carl's muscles and tissues with strength, removing all idea of the sensation of pain or the emotion of fear.

The twitching corpses to Carl's sides flop bonelessly in puddles of vibrantly colored gore, the shining tips of the knives jutting from the back of their skulls. These puddles of blood prove helpful as you trigger a backwards jerk, Carl's feet sliding through the puddles of blood to evade the swiping claws and gnashing jaws of the reptilian xeno. With the clatter of smashing stools and the hoots and screeches of alarm from the various xeno species around the noodle shop the enraged reptilian slams ungracefully to the ground, bloodying his snout on the rough textured polymer of the "street". Driven by your puppetmaster-esque manipulation of his system, Carl's enhanced body flies into motion, a lunging punch slamming directly into a beady yellow eye, the countering slash of the curved talons blocked by a punch directly to the joint of the oncoming arm. You are grateful that your "diet" and mild manipulation of Carl's physiology has made him considerably more durable as his knuckles slam into the Jarga'ki's snout, eyes and throat in a flurry of blows that send the hulking reptile reeling.

"I'm gonna rip your heart out and fuck it human!!"
Roars the enraged and bloodied alien, lunging forward on all fours like a oversized crocodile, maw spread wide to expose vicious fangs. Carl's return kick, guided by your direction and powered by enhanced muscles sends the reptiles head snapping back, jaws clicking harmlessly as several broken fangs spill from bloodied gums. Nearly eight hundred pounds of scaled flesh lands square on its back, shaking its head woozily as Carl settles into a crude defensive stance, fists clenched so tightly the skin pulls tight across the knuckles.

You can feel a kind of hunger as pure as your own in Carl's mind. Avarice. His veins still full of a potent cocktail of hormones and hyper oxygenated blood, any notion of passive activity is long dispelled. Scanning left and right Carl quickly identifies a long, narrow implement used by the noodle eaters. Solid thermoplastic with a pointed enough end to do the job; he sets the chopstick into the left nostril of the unconscious reptile, and uses a combination of force and twisting medical knowledge to more violent ends. Stomping on the end of the utensil leads to a crunch and snap, the stick punches through a series of paper thin bones and into the creature's brain, ending its life. Again you can appreciate your host's use of unrefined tools when lacking a more perfected body for such tasks.

The human uses some sort of device which he speaks into before rifling through the dead reptile's belongings. Something blocky and chome is produced. A tool of some kind. Carl has secured the corpses for return to his lair, you are unsure how, but the thought of all that biomass is almost overwhelming. The aroma of the spiced broth and noodles causes hunger pains. Carl approaches the Noodle slug, his combat high and concussion slightly impairing reason. "Noodles. now." Despite your overwhelming display of violence via proxy, the slug remains defiant and now refuses to serve you.

The slug isn't worth our time. Let's just get the corpses back to the morgue and feast. With what we just did in public, we need to get out of here - doing this for too long results in people asking questions.

Carl headed back home without word or ceremony, cleaned up, and ate cheap instant curry-slurry from his fridge. To call that substance food, would be very generous. Purging the chemicals within it left you fatigued, diminished, perhaps even feeling a little unclean. The things you do for your host. After a water based cleansing and grooming session, the human proceeded to observe picture and videos of potential breeding candidates and excrete gametes. Still, the hormonal reactions within his body indicated a level of attempted self repair. The device Carl spoke to interrupted his post gamete expulsion bliss with loud oscillating noises. Putting it to his ear your host seems to nod to the device, apparent obedience. Technological worship perhaps. Soon you are back to the lair. Cold outside, but a layer of muscle and fat keeps you warm now.
>+1 biomass
...

Several subordinate members of Carl's pack walk with him towards the meat storage room. "Already started the breakdown, best parts are out and on the market. Did you know those fucks were Imperial? Here! On fucking Angel station!" more gestures, noise, and conversation,. "We pulled the black boxes. Fucking reptiles cant safeguard for shit. As long as this doesn't come back to us, we can move up a level, or go our ways!" Its a male human about Carl's age. Less portly, no hair. Streamlined. Efficient.

With a tiny nudge to impatience and a need for "space" you manage to send your cohorts home for the day, muttering about "clean up." As soon as the electromagnetic doors lock, you blank out the human's mind, easing him into unconsciousness. You are in direct control.

The reptilian aliens lay on 3 wheeled metallic tables. Despite their size, they are diminished now. Hollowed out of organs, mostly bone and muscle. Gripping the scaly face of their leader, you turn it left and right; empty eye sockets lead to an empty skull cavity. Why? Why did they take the best parts?! Still. There is much here...

...Several hours later the body of carl is propped up into a sitting position in the corner, gruesomely swollen to an nightmarish inhuman size, an oversized gullet now decorated by tattered clothing. You really overdid it. Really....really overdid it. Multiple morgue bays hang open with the formerly full bays emptied. Still, you feel elated to just be full. For the first time in your memory, you feel...full. The purge of excess biowaste begins, as your true body processes the material, inefficiency sets in, and thick torrents of foul, clear goop leave every orifice of the Carl. Its exhausting, but you feel the hunger again, thankfully there are many more sources of nutrients here.
...
It was late in the night by the time you were truly done.
---
380->760->1520=2660 / ~100= Roughly 26 average cadavers by volume have been consumed. Though with the size of the reptiles it was closer to 20.

It's not enough to be smart enough to understand language, we need to be smartest boy. Even with an extremely adaptive biology, it is unwise to stay the less intelligent creature in pretty much every confrontation with humanoids. +3 should hopefully put us in the 150+ IQ range and since we have full control of our neurons, allow us to be an organic calculator.

>Lv2 Senses +2
Electromagnetic, maybe psionic if it exists in this setting, perceiving lifeforms and technical devices that way will be incredibly useful.

I assume we have now consumed enough humans for this. We will become an integral and almost undetectable part of Carl, replacing tissue after tissue, until we and his personality (as cover) are all that remains. This can take some time, but I want us to entirely replace Carl eventually, only keeping his personality so that we have a legal identity and connections..

Oh, and if the mimic stuff doesn't pan out, can we put the points into Metabolism/Food storage? Our creature tends to eat way too much all at once, wasting a lot of biomass, and a way to roll over excess biomass would help progess considerably.
>>
>>3150810
That sounds good. Given the description of Carl after he finished his eating spree, we could definitely use the ability to not look like an overinflated meat balloon when we eat.
>>
What I really want is a way to break pieces of ourselves off and infest new hosts to bring under our control, that have autonomy but follow commands from the 'main hub' so to speak, the original.
That way once we reach critical mass we can just go full Resident Evil on the entire station and take it by force.
>>
>>3151096
would be good enough if we can break of a piece of our body and have it continue functioning but as a drawback cant mutate

Update in a few hours. real life is happening. This quest as far as I know is a oneshot, so a grand expansion into a hyperpower with multi management of sub characters is unlikely. Just dont have time for that anymore, but deep exploration of characters and environments, with a focus on survival and adaptation is. that 99 has set us down the path pretty hard for being a symbiote. One with needs.
>>
>>3151352
I wasn't really thinking sub characters, more like just a shit ton of sleeper agents we can activate at will to do our bidding, or even activate all at once to initiate a chaotic and violent takeover of the entire station.

Carl's body slowly returns to normal with each gruesome feeding thanks to mutated elasticity. Flesh pulls back to his normal pudge, no longer fat but simply very thick skin, joints and jaw crack and snap back into their normal location. You ambulate over to the morgue shower, a normal routine by now, and clean up. With practiced precision you wash away the remains of the meal. Full. Still a novelty. You are actually content for the first time. There is still growth to be done, perhaps always, but it would require a dramatic change of lifestyle, and for now you still have much to learn. Putting on a clean pair of disposable scrubs, this time the right size, and not inside out. Well done. He might not realize it yet but he would put a Yogi Contortionist to shame if he wanted. This though, you will definitely be erasing from his memories. New ideas and logic settle in, and you realize this would probably be to horrific for the human's mind. Easing back in Carl's body, easing back into Carl's old padded leather chair, you idly reach into his desk and pull out a small flask of celebratory rye whiskey. Your host had been lead to believe the origin was earth, and the vintage quite old. In a very human way you take a sip

>Earlier that night.
>Lv7 Brain
The first and most difficult change, significant amounts of refined biomass awoke an intellectual potential slumbering within you. The world you knew, the mysteries once pondered, became laughably simple. Subtle observations normally missed by even natives would be quickly analyzed and managed. For Carl, he would never really appreciate that he was better at math, or a little quicker on the social draw, at least not for now.
>Lv4 senses
Exotic organs rippled through you, gel filled capillaries sensitive to electromagnetic fields. Specialized cells within your body allowed for hyperspectral detection, it wasn't as good as it could be, but it was there if you got close enough to an object.
>Lv6 Parasite-->UPGRADE: Symbiote
A dramatic change in the relationship between you and your host has occurred. You no longer relentlessly and subconsciously drain Carl of nutrients, and your bond with him is deeper, more emphatic and perhaps at times, profound. Carl can sense you on some level now, and your feelings. The same could be said for any future host. Your level of control and repair over the host body has improved as well, opening up more exotic vectors of mutation as needed, or perhaps desired.
>LV2 Mimic
When external to a host, you can contort your mass into semi passable facsimiles of similarly sized organisms. When piloting a host, you can temporarily shift minor features or attempt to alter a voice to pass as someone else. The ability to actually duplicate another extant organism is not yet available, you can just pass for a stranger or made up personality. Any individual will find these features to likely be unattractive, lumpy, or otherwise homely.

>Day 1 post feast: morning

You had been busy well into the early morning hours of Angel station. Activities have included; theft, larceny, credit fraud, and a spot of well meaning arson. There was really no way to cover your tracks after that meal, and going over the morgue's records, it never really made much money, only sustaining itself by periodic bursts of high revenue items. Also while carl was well meaning, he allowed his business to be exploited by low capability individuals, and a constant bleed out of very minor petty theft. Nickled and dimed as it were. With the liquidation of the morgue, and collection of a paltry insurance payout, Carl could start a new life that he would discover when he tried to go to work today. It would be enough for a few months of sustainment and a seed into a new venture. One that could benefit you more directly.

As Carl woke, he rolled out of bed and looked in the full wall mirror as he always did. He hated and loved the mirror, it made his small apartment seem bigger, but it also let him see how old and fat he was, how small his pecker was and "HOLY SHIT. Hello son, how are you today!" Well. For Carl, one thing was fixed, and that started his morning off great. It was time to get some noodles. Shame the old place was still being repaired after a fucking maniac destroyed it. Shrugging into a comfortable ribbed turtleneck and pair of cargopants he hadn't worn in a while, there was an appreciable difference in how tight they normally were. "Yeah. loosin weight by eatin right!" He threw a few punches into the air at his reflection. Not too bad for an old guy.

Today was going to be a great day.

---

>The remaining staff of the illegal chop shop posing as a morgue were being broken down into their component pieces for theft against the Royal house guards. Black Boxes were recovered due to sloppy work disabling the homing beacons. The only employee not accounted for apparently was burned alive last night. Still. It all seemed too convenient to Grand Interrogator Gixx...

>Valit Ltd. Insurance was one of the lower end rackets on the station, most everyone knew it was mob owned, but they stayed straight by paying out as needed in addition to laundering credits. Richard looked over the small building, torched to the ground. It looked like gang activity, smelled like it, and played out like it, but no Gang in this station was that fucking stupid. As soon as they got big enough they were given the run down on who ran the station in these parts. Only reasonable answer is fraud, and no one frauds the Erati family. No one.

New resource mechanic unlocked: Refined Biomass. higher quality sources of biomass do not need to be processed, and only require 100 points for a single upgrade. The downside is it takes at least 10 times that much conventional biomass to process into refined mass, not all at one time, that is rather...gross. Even for you.

Carl stands in shock, a noodle cup falling from his hands as he takes in the smoldering ruins of his "chop shop" being picked apart by several black armored reptilians and various bipeds in light body armor, bagging the charred bones of some corpse in a glossy black bag. The mangled and smoking corpses of several particularly fearless gangers lay in various states of dismemberment, evidence of the Jarga'ki troopers brutal efficiency as they recover their comrades black boxes.

"Fuck me sideways"
Carl mutters to himself, backing away slowly and quickly turning a corner, slumping against a wall. You can detect his heart rate increasing, stimulants and hormones pumping into his bloodstream as his breathing quickens.
"Fuck... Fuck fuck fuck! Eratri is gonna fucking kill me... Goddamnit Jay.... Goddamnit! I fucking TOLD you to make sure those boxes were disarmed... Goddamnit it kid..."

Carl quickly shuffles into the darkness of a side corridor, stepping over a body that lurches and jerks as plump Skaali grubs devour it from within. His eyes adjust quickly to the dark, the details lost on him as you the adjustments youve made to his body begin taking over. Every detail in the corridor stands out to him, the echo of his footsteps bringing out the "silhouette" of the walls, the ceiling, the bones within the various decomposing corpses along the hall. You apply a slight nudge to Carl's nervous system and he pauses, his entire body thrumming with potential as you begin assuming control over his actions.

Carl never noticed his face filling out with fat, muscles tensing and pulling features into a new location, complexion darkening, or even the shape of his eyelids tightening. Within moments Carl looked like a pudgy Mongolian who had been born with the proverbial ugly stick lodged firmly up his ass. No, he wasn't looking at himself at all. Instead the only focus was on the steady staccato of pounding footsteps through a dilapidated corridor of the station, splashing on puddles and the periodic arc of shorted out electrical wiring. He'd never been this deep. No reason to. No want to. The relatively clean facade of the station up above, with its polished steel, warm lighting, and mostly clean streets gave way to neglect, abandon, and squatters. Every shade of rust and corrosion, years of chemical stains and leaking sewage from an endless drizzle of leaking pipes above, dying lights and half attempted repairs by half attempted automated systems long forgotten by whatever hand held the station this week. It was a good place to disappear, and that was about it. The deeper you go, the older it gets, already the usual holograms and advertising were replaced with poly carbonate armored display screens. People around here still had some semblance of a life, not a great one. Where he needed to go, was a place not worth going...numb fingers idly rubbed over several electronic credit chits. They didn't hold much but were not traceable. Always good in a place like Angel station.

Even with your augmentations to the host, his body was running weary. Mineral and hydration levels were far below where they needed to be, and he was running at a calorie deficit, a hungry body cannibalizing fat and starting to set into muscle. You worked hard on that muscle, and you are hungry too! Fuck that body. Fuck you Carl. You quietly stimulate his hunger to a level that overwhelms his urge to flee, at the same time you suppress the fight or flight instinct that kicked on several hours ago. Carl's digital presence would need to go away, your mastry of mimicry is too weak, and will not hold forever, also you know the disguise wouldn't fool genetic or biometric scanners. Thankfully the deeper you go the rarer they are...

Its been a long day to say the least. Carl knew he wasn't going back home, there was some stuff lost. That was a bummer. But really, survival was key. Shit could be replaced. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head and eyes. Just a quick nap. A large concrete column on the side of a street served for a back rest, and a few crushed old boxes worked good enough for keeping his ass off the damp ground. Not the first time he has had to slum it in life. Probably not the last. Drawing up the hood of a well worn brown jacket offered enough concealment to blend in for now. His clothing still set him apart from the locals, but not enough to be worth anything more than a cursory glance. Plenty of people fell from status and washed down here each day, often to fall victim to local predators. He sighed again and rubbed hands out of habit for old arthritic pains that that no longer existed. Shit day, but still...

You nudge Carl into slumber, and take the proverbial driver's seat to his body. There was a lot to discover here, but you would need a base of operations. Carl had credits to spare, but accessing them would be hard without being discovered, so they were essentially unavailable for now. The risk didn't equate to the reward, even with proper management. Reaching into the pocket of the synthetic jacket, fingers close around a smooth, warm, metal container. The flask; you tilt back a big swig, complex flavors made from a diversified set of hydrocarbons sits in a solution of ethanol. There are a few impurities lingering in it as well. "Character". This species was odd, to prize flaws as something of value, but the longer you spend in this skin the more you come to realize it adds value to an otherwise mundane life, sometimes a "character" giving an unexpected quality was not such a bad thing. The sensation of the ethanol numbing some of your higher functions was always novel, but time to get to work. A powerful filtration organ quickly removes the toxins from both you and Carl as you stand up and head out into the night. The false face had worn off for now, and it would be a while before you could pull that trick off again...

Food, appearance, and rest. Realizing the most reasonable thing to do would be to expend as few resources as possible for maximum gain, you decide quickly to coopt another being's residence. The streets were not empty, nor full, just as steady, slow flow of people, just shy of stagnation. Above you reproduced Neon signs clash with exposed piping and wires, casting the section of this station in shadows an unnatural light. A motel..no, too much interaction. Homeless shanty town...too insecure. Each place failed to meet your increasingly stringent requirements.

Mostly humans around here, the occasional xeno, but rarely. Good. Most aliens are of the opinion that humans all look alike. You are truly inclined to agree. Tree climbing, field dwellers with a penchant for tinkering with things beyond their comprehension. Enough sense to know an path is poorly planed, and enough disregard to press on. Taking another swig off the flask you shrug. "Whatever works." you mutter to yourself. The display is partially pleasure, mostly predation. The slight quarter step every now and then, the mild stagger. Soon enough the bait draws it's first nibble, and with time, you will have your nibble as well. A thin strand of drool escapes your host's lips.

"You look new here, before you say anything just hear me out!" The approaching figure is a younger male, human, you can smell the blood on him. His shoes. He bullrushes the conversation ensuring you never have a chance to get a word in. A consummate grifter and salesman, he really pushes to convince you of the value of staying at his "flop house" for the night to get your bearings. Eventually you just hold up a hand after taking another swing of the whiskey "You sold me at place to sleep. Lead on young man, lead on!" raising your flask in a..wait...Carl's flask, in a mock salute you gesture onward and set in step behind him. The eagerness and predatory gleam in his eyes were impossible to miss.

All things said, the topography of the meadering, twisting walk was made to disorient and confuse. You observe that a much more direct route to the "hideout" could have taken but 3 minutes from your prior location, instead of the 20 it has taken. The location is actually a modified industrial duct system. Rather massive, but inert. Old fans sit motionless, long halted through failure, corrosion, or simple decommissioning. Within is a small community lining the duct work, exploiting the available "rooms". A ladder takes you up higher to another section which looks down over this community. Large slatted grates with seized louvers provide glimpses of the neon drenched community below. The irony of the situation, here in the ducts again, makes you smile for a sec as you are lost in thought. The younger man, a name you've wasted no time learning, looks at you with a flicker of irritation before the smile wraps around his face like plastic wrap. "Whats good?" you just shake your head and shrug, following him again. The "place" yet another name for what is likely a killing floor is finally made manifest. A dead end, the smell of blood here would have been strong enough for even a regular person to detect. "figure it out yet old man?" behind you are a two other humans armed with small hand crafted blades.

It wasn't a fight. A quick punch to the first man's face snapped his head back at an unnatural angle, and the other two started to flee onto to be chased down and gifted a set of broken necks. Food.

The bodies are quickly stripped, with enough care to preserve the clothing. Not quite a cup of noodles, but if left to his own devices Carl would starve to death. Enhanced jaws and slab musculature allows for hunks of flesh to be torn away and swallowed. Bone and tendon tear, crunch and snap, rewarding you with mouthfuls of coppery blood and the occasional twitching muscle sliding down Carl's gullet. You exercise more restraint in processing the crude biomass into refined biomass at a conversion rate of 10:1. This avoids the insane bloating that you dealt with previously, leaving a growing puddle of clear goo behind. By the time all is said and done you have 20 refined biomass. The clothing wont fit you, Carl is simply too doughy in his current form. Leaving the clothing where it is you spend the next several hours exploring the ductwork settlement. It is deserted and mostly looted. Abundant evidence of prior occupation exists in the form of old furniture too large to be moved, and the odd stash of personal items. A cluster of near ancient command line terminals glow with amber phosphor CRT screens; the periodic ground loop rolling up ballistic resistant screens. They sport chips, graffiti, scratches, gunshot damage or outright cracks from attempted acts of destruction. Well built.

You've spotted several pawn shops and resellers as you wander, looking down upon the city. Food. Rest. Clothing. Without spending a single credit, or taking a single hit. Satisfaction...

You overdo it on the mutation, instead of attempting a reduced 5 refined biomass you go for the usual volume of 10 out of instinct. The effect is immediate and overwhelming. Carl's body violently spasms, moving into a near seizure state as he thrashes around on the floor, you are stuck along for the ride as your host struggles for life on a mutagen overdose, and for a bit there is real concern that you would be without Carl soon. Somehow he pulls through, covered in blood and...sick gains. There is no hiding this. A broken mirror nearby shows the same face, leaner, same grey, slightly thinning hair, but Carl's body...well, you might not be able to wipe away this memory. Your pants abruptly fall down, the belt no longer tight enough to hold up the loose garments.

You make due with the proffered clothing of the would be murderers, now meals. Really, Carl should be grateful, and not freak out over this. Honestly, you know enough of his people's culture to understand vanity is a high value. With a shrug you move on with the night. All this extra testosterone is causing a vicious struggle with Carl's base instincts vs your own commands.

Where, What, when...how?!> Quick analysis, terror, disbelief. So far he assumes he has been unconscious for a great time, likely abducted due to his slender and clothed form. If you could laugh you would, but instead burble in a full body oscillation causing your host to grab his guts in concern as he feels your movement very acutely now. A few more rapid pat downs to his body result in more shock and an actual outburst. "What the fuck?! Did I get made into some sorta robot, shits hard as steel!?" He quickly lifts up his shirt and looks in shock at the natty ripped gains. The only logical conclusion for him is that something has happened, and he needs to get out of here, the shock of the situation is buffered slightly by his subconscious approval to this modification. Modified senses detect no noise from other sapients, just the ever present squeaks and skittering of dzizi rats, the auditory confirmation puts his subconscious mind at easy, reducing fight or flight instincts slightly.

>Empathy Check:
Carl is in order: Cautious, Curious and concerned, Hungry as fuck, and has strong territorial display and reproductive urges.

The cognitive mind wins out over baser instincts. No surprise, you influence your host. Carl might not realize it, but he is a bit smarter now than he was before. Long tendrils of synapse stretch up his spine, through the neck, boring into the skull and wrapping around and into his brain; countless new and growing bridges creating new synapse interconnects. Caution wins the day though, and he quickly sprints through the ducts checking each room. Deserted. For a long time, but not without it's remnants. At a dead end he found 3 sets of clothes in a neat pile near some blood...and 2 crude knives, laid out almost like they were for Carl. Weird. All the other rooms were empty of anything that was of note aside from a dusty and heavily patched duffel bag and a very old automatic pistol. The make and munitions are archaic and going to be near impossible to find more ammo for down the road, but the thing was a legend back in it's day. The Kali BlackStar, in .50 caseless. As a kid the old movies always had a prominent character with one.

>Acquired clothing and pistol 8/8 shots, clothing, duffel.

<brain bonus>Convinced that the location is secure Carl made his way over to the terminal. A typical industrial command line interface, it was designed with zero expectation that anyone would know it's functions by heart. However there are numerous convoluted menus that are unintuative. After some digging your host discovers that this ventilation system was decommissioned some 80+ years ago for the reason of attempting to evict the locals. Seems it never worked. The terminals themselves are part of a legacy intranet connected to other fuck knows what within this section of the station. Getting things running again could prove useful in creating enough distraction to make a continued escape easier.

There is an emerging thought in your little wormy brain; Well its a pretty big brain now, but a way to reach out to Carl and break the ice gradually.

Carl did this one on his own. Sure, you pushed him along, but the decision was his, and it was an interesting one. Plunging the local levels into chaos could have provided a very easy escape. You could have already looted, killed, eaten, and been on your way. Instead he casually rebooted an antique grind maintenance system.

All around you machinery slowly creeps to life, after decades of long slumber. The CRT screens flicker several times, degaussing themselves, before booting back to BIOS and beginning internal defragmentation of data storage. Giant fans shed powdery showers of oxide red dust, slowly rotations bringing them up to their meandering speed. Fresh air from somewhere higher up is pulled down into these lower levels, filtered through fluttering louver type vents to the population below. The master reboot was not the only change. The pipes outside are still leaking, but pressure has regularized, its not as bad, finally the old arc type street lamps fire up providing some indication of dark neon day compared to dark neon night. Life will still be shit down here, it always was, but, it will be a little less shit.

>After the host had left, unseen by anyone, a terminal flashed an updated message about multi level cycle complete, then went black. These actions have consequences.

....Walking out into the city elements Carl notices people chatting in darkened alleyways, rebreather masks and cloth rags normally worn around the face slung on their necks or over a shoulder. Enhanced eyesight and ears pick up details that would normally be missed. Still...He wants answers. Someone kidnapped him, turned his life upside down, and experimented on him. Shops need protection, protection needs gangs, gangs know secrets, secrets cost money, favors, and violence. Gripping his newly found Kali, he knew he had at least two of those to offer.

You give Carl the nudge he needs; to the first destination on tonight's agenda is the pawn shop. It was quick walk down several twisting alleys that passed for roads in this area. With the old lamps kicked on and humming machinery, the locals were distracted gawking at a change in their day to day life, and not so much at the outsider stalking their streets. The ability to mentally map out an area quickly was lost on Carl, though he was appreciating the benefit at them moment. Navigating through the densely packed neighborhood came easily. Sticking to the dark and avoiding the occasional vespa or tuk-tuk like machines, Carl quickly worked his way to the pawnshop. There it sat like a beacon in the night, a little glowing hub of goods and information, all for the right price. The door jingled with a makeshift bell of coins strung together, and soon you were face to face with an older man of southeast Asian descent staring at you from his stool behind a large glass counter. Curios of all types line it, old cameras, radio equipment, wrist computers, the occasional novelty item.

Its a distraction between here and there. A quick conversation between the two humans yields enough information, and a spirited exchange on the quality of older slug throwing firearms vs modernized plasma projectiles. Dazzled by the Kali BlackStar, the man agrees to provide information about the area as long as he can take the pistol to the shops miniature range. He has the ammo, but not the gun. Within 20 minutes he returns, your pistol somehow looking better than it did before, the ear to ear grin on the pawnshop owner's face is hard to hide. He wants the gun. An agreement is crafted and Carl walks away with several forged ID chips and an older wrist mount computer that came out before ident-a-trak was a standard feature. Lastly you get a modern phased plasma single shot derringer. Its shit, but its still a gun when you need a gun. There is some sort of gang activity at the local convenience store, but it is really low level. The community would be grateful for the assistance, but its understandable if Carl were to head directly to the local club for more immediate results. Bidding the old man goodbye your host chuckles. He isn't too young himself.

The market was a quick find, not far from here and decorated in several years worth of Chinese newyear's decorations, in various states of decay and neglect. It was really nothing more than a converted convenience store, and a place that sold things more edible and newer than the pawn shop.

Cool, if stale air greeted Carl as he walked into the harsh fluorescent like light of the market. Food goods, much the same as above, but with damaged boxes or slight issue with expatriation dates lined the shelves. Canned xeno food. You relive an involuntary memory of a time Carl ate some canned sopa de macaco. It is best left forgotten. Commotion draws his attention away from canned simian and back to the present. A younger man dressed in what could best be described as an industrial accident, is busy harassing the late night cashier. Looking down at his arms, and body, your host cracks his knuckles, a totally unnecessary gesture, and rolls his shoulders, again, an unneeded operational check. You do good work, and feel slightly insulted.
---
The first person view of the ensuing violence is rather pleasing, though Carl's lack of follow through on the kill is concerning, however after the hostile male egressed out the front entry of this facility, your host put effort into communicating with the younger female drone. Her reception to his advances was unexpected. She only needed to "close up" the club was apparently her destination after duty hours. The long conversation was an obnoxious preface to what was obviously an attempt at copulation, humans were inefficient, but this was a prime example of learning culture to better blend in, so it must be endured.
---
The club was loud, loud enough that you could feel it, even in your comfy home inside Carl's guts. A deliberate attempt at sensory overload was obvious, and at first a concern for weaponized stimuli was real. It was apparently engineered to create escapism from a routine life. Your host's heightened endorphins and positive mood was more than enough to determine he was pleased. The female exuded numerous sex pheromones and displayed dilated eyes. Before the night ended, Carl had successfully mated with her in the "bathroom" which is an odd name for a palce due to no bath, and only locations for biological waste. There was a secondary fight involving members of the prior male's tribe, with one fatality, of which you were not able to consume due to witnesses. All "snacks" had been consumed before you left though, and Carl's own available credits increased modestly. The female invited your host to stay with her for the night, to "Feel safe". The offer was accepted.

Whatever muses had taken Carl during the last 4 hours of his life were quickly extinguished and he was reminded of an important thing. He was in fact, still in his 60s. His young paramour tried to compliment him, but she mostly had a headache and it was getting late, so he could crash on the couch if he wanted. Defeated, he did indeed sit down on the couch where you promptly took control as soon as her light snoring began to cause Carl to drift himself.

The woman's dwelling was small. a single room to dwell, a kitchen and bathroom combination. Food closet..no. Pantry. Yes.
>56: Post coitus munchies
You swallowed leftover kebabs nearly whole, stick and all. A highly augmented jaw and set of swallowing muscles making short work of the chewy tough meat. A tub of cooking lard, some slightly expired milk of unknown providence, and all a bag of moldy peaches. Even the sriracha sauce was not left unmolested. Soon her fridge was as barren as a 40 year old veteran whore. For you, night time was the right time, and it was time to escape further. A set of access stairs within the community lead down multiple cooridoors full of rats, grubs, and other nasties, some of which became additional biomass. Most were full of old trash, mold, and long forgotten cobwebs. Others were a bit tidier, however the time for deviation was long behind. You had accessed the local networks while carl dozed, and sure enough, there was a bounty on his head, but his old face, not this new lean one. Given enough time though, people would figure it out.

>gained 40 unrefined biomass

You even had your first conversation with Carl as he drempt. He knows you are "with him, here to protect and improve him." Sharing a few of your own thoughts and ideas. However that door is now open, and Carl will soon be able to feel what you feel, know what you are thinking in some regard, or at leas an intent, as the bond grows in the coming days.

Who you are though, that remains to be seen. Certainly not the same beast you were. Deep personal exploration will certainly come amongst deep internal exploration of viscera and meat.

It took the better part of a day adventuring through the tunnels to find a terminal that was patched into the station's intranet as opposed to a local network, but you eventually manage to find one down here that was clearly retrofitted later than the rest of the equipment. Lets see....the headlines read quick and easy

>Noodle shop berserker still at large... "you'd do it again if you could."
>Bounty on mass murderer Carl XXXXX.... "Hey you never murdered anyone. sort of. it was self defense."
>Imperial forces spotted on station "Refusing to explain why, refusing to leave."
>Historic migration as lower levels experience habitabiltiy increase. "machines just work!"
---
Amidst all the headlines are more subtle coded articles, and open communications meant for unknown recipients that you managed to pick up on. The local organized crime seems to want Carl dead in a bad way and is aware he has likely escaped to the lower levels, with rumors of his existence as recently as last night. Biometric readers detected his voice and eyes. Problematic. Thankfully the lower you go, the less surveillance there is.

the bounty is by the local "family", and is generous, enough to be the equal of your insurance scam money. In fact it probably is your money, should you be killed, donated to your killer. You do not have the skill of flesh craft to that degree. The best you can do is make someone look questionably retarded and ugly.
>>3158636
Something important was on those black boxes, and they WERE accessed, so containing that data is probably important, even if they have to turn angel station upside down or inside out. Good thing they think you are dead, just make sure they dont compare notes with the local crime family who is a bit more suspicious.
>>
>>3159330
You spend the next several hours absorbing all the data you can from the station news section of this terminal, its actual use being a reporting station for the local machinery. While mostly ignored, it clearly is part of the upkept equipment, with the occasional bi-yearly check, according to maintenance records. There are a lot of historical messages here, mostly insults or goading comments from one maintainer to another, with the knowledge that they would be received years later. It takes a bit but you are eventually able to crack past the relatively weak security, more based on being so obsolescent as to be incompatible with modern tech. A series of locked down and historical documents are accessed; pertaining to various black projects, fraud, extortion, and whatever deals needed to be kept invisible but recorded, even then they just allude to the content, not really discussing it openly. One in particular catches your eyes "Biomorph". Mostly though its maintenance records involving damage to the station from a periodic infection and release cycle. There were predecessors, an archtype perhaps? You, the real you, pulses and warbles in contemplation, considering the implications. Contemplation does not last too long and soon you hear a loud droning klaxon kick off, the access tunnel you are in is illuminated with red light steadily pulsing on and off. The sound of feet and heavy machinery pounding on wet concrete causes your heart to race, triggering Carl's in interlinked nervous sympathy. You can taste the adrenaline. Carl's consciousness flickers back for a moment before you suppress it again.

Carl wont be around forever, and you need to know more to stay ahead of enemies, to survive. The realization that you are not the first, that something grander is going on puts you at disease. Precious moments tick away as the terminal's progress bar downloads data via induction pulse into your wrist computer. With a final ding, you rush to escape the area, many choices now gone. >80: success; where was that map?

The athletic body you have crafted has no problem jumping and grabbing by the fingertips a low hanging pipe. From there hauling yourself up and into the comforting dark was also easy. For being a meat suit, Carl was a good meat suit. Soon enough the forces chasing you were made apparent; heavily armored envirosuits, and bulky energy projection weapons. You notice that as they walk, the mold on the ground and walls seems to burn away as they approach, leaving carbon stains and acrid stink. That..is no good. "The new guy" is in the lead, wearing much lighter armor that does not seem to radiate death, but looks to be sturdy.

"See anything?" "Where the fuck is it?" the humans spend an uncomfortably long time searching for you, before concluding you are not here. What you can discern is that they are not reptilian imperials, nor are they some petty station mafia family. When they finally leave you wait roughly 36 hours, just hiding. Keeping Carl's mind suppressed, waiting. With a quiet thump that would belong to a much smaller creature, you exit your hiding space. A dzizi rat curiously squeeks up at you before becoming an immediate snack. Wiping away a mouthful of orange blood you discover what these "Sterilizers" can do. A tunnel full of vagrants now nothing more than blackened carbon statues.

Your wrist computer pips at you, prompting examination. Map and location data. You quickly turn off the location feature, but the map is useful, it shows places that arent there, or are more likely plated over, hidden, forgotten about...time to get moving. If you press hard you can be in the next level or two down by the time you need to rest and eat again.

We can't do that, yet. When we got our big payday of 9 upgrade points that firmed up what the Biomorph is for now. The players chose to make it symbiotic rather than parasitic or independent based on the allocated stat points. Each time you level up, the requisite amount of unrefined biomass doubles, you are now at a point where you need to eat like 30+ people or find a large source of crude biomass like a factory or slaughterhouse/ restaurant freezer. The alternative to this is that you can hunt down sources of "refined biomass" which is much more potent, and only requires 100 points regardless of what you do. That mechanic will also evolve as you improve and grow stronger. You aren't stuck with carl, but for now your strongest capability is intelligence, which gives you strong observational and technical capability, being able to use the environment or equipment around you, blend in, lie, be social, develop your own plans as opposed to operate off instinct. I alter your options available based on what stats you have. Had you guys become a rampaging monster, we'd have more options tailored to that. Your next strongest capability is symbiote, which allows your base stats to modify your host, and you to activly mutate your host to improve it. For now its nothing too radical like a rolling tide of flesh and nightmares, but you could get there if that's what you want.

For now your survival is dependent on getting somewhere in the station where people can forget you, stop looking, and for that you are going to have to go deep. deep into the oldest sections of this place, before shit kept getting added onto it every time ownership changed hands over the years.

That's pretty neat. Is it possible for us to, say, make Carl hallucinate? I suddenly want to talk to him with his own reflection the next time he looks in a mirror.
>>
>>3161513
"Carl. Caaaaaaarrrrrrrllll....Wake up Carl." Your host sits up from where you slumped his body against a wall and looks around rubbing his eyes "Whos there? Where am I now?" Poor guy, last place he really remembers is going to sleep on a couch after a poor performance. You consider your words, and your voice, its odd creating a personality, a voice, when you had none, even if its only one heard within as opposed to with ears. "I am your ticket to a better life. I can make you strong, I can make you young, I can take you far away from here if you trust me, if you listen, if you just get up, and if you don't...I'll make you." shock, indignation, anger. He is reasonably upset. "What are you? Why are you doing this to me?!" If you could sigh you would have. "Carl. Questions, come on, make an actual statement. I'm a symbiotic lifeform inside your body, I made you young, I made you powerful, stick with me and you have a lot to gain, think about it. Less than 24 hours ago you were an old man with erectile dysfunction and a lasting regret that you let a waitress at a noodle shop marry someone else. You went there every week just to look at her for over what? 20 some years?" Shock. Pain. Insult. Suppressed recognition. "Get out of my head!" There we go. "See, you can make a statement. I'm proud of you Carl. We could do this all day, but I'm not so bad, anything you lost you really didnt care about. If you were a more interesting person you probably would have killed yourself before I came along." You pull at memories of old idle thoughts, not even painful ones, just recognition of defeat. Attempts to block you out. "No point in trying to hide it Carl, doesn't work like that. So lets recap. The life you had is over, you are sad for no reason and acting like a girl about it. Pull up the bigboy pants and tuck your dick in, if we are going to get out of this alive you need to get your shit together, Carl." Everything about you appeals to the man he wants to be. Your choice of words, reflecting subtly at his values of strength, and personal culture from a better time in his life.

He sighs and gets up. "Ok. What do I do?" ...."another question? Come on Carl. think about it." He does, and you feel his consciousness poke at yours, ideas communicated at deeper level, and soon he is on the move after examining his wrist computer and looking at those maps. You feel pleased, to your surprise, he acknowledges it with irritation. The flesh will learn to do as its told, because it makes the symbiosis work better. Soon you are both running down the cooridoor towards a destination yet to be seen.
---

>New mechanic unlocked: Synchronization
Hosts bring different qualities and degrees of cooperation. There will be a time that you may want to swap flesh, move on, for whatever reason, and you will need to build a relationship with that host, to develop cooperation in any means you can. Friendship and trust, abuse and domination, mutual sociopaths.
>>

Im sorry anon. RIP food sources.
>>3161528
Not yet, we can just whisper in his head. I guess you could make yourself pop out his mouth and talk to him with your wormy, snakey self, face to face, but that might cause some nightmares. forever.
>>3161562
A cooperative flesh suit makes actions easier, one that resists impairs you. Your actions impact the flesh's perception of you, and it's opinion, and as that bond gets deeper, your ability to suppress the host, and hide what you may be up to decreases. So what is ok for you, might not be ok for the host, or you might find a really sick fuck who is down for whatever.
--
After a few minutes of station parkour you find yourself staring at a section of wall with a metal plate welded over it. Its...kind of thin, but not really. No rust, but this is the place. "Ok now what?" Question. "Caaaaaarrrrl. You know what we have to do Caaaarrrl." he shudders "Dont...talk like that. please." you burble happily, it learns. "then dont ask stupid questions, and I wont have to nag you. Just use that grey matter."

>85: A hero is risen. sort of.

Looking at the wall, your host checks for places that would serve as a handhold to wrench it loose, tear open a corner. Anything. With a realization that this is going to hurt he balls up a fist and prepares to bust his knuckles working the sheet of metal open.

"relax. I've got this one." Carl stops "What do you mean?" You are pleased enough that the reaction reaches your host's face, which concerns him "What the fuck do you mean?" "told you to stop asking questions." you feel his face twist into shock, realization, and concern as a series of biochemical reactions take place within his gut, causing it to begin to baloon out with bubling gas and acid. "No. no. nonononono!" "Oh yes Carl, oh yes." Upon that statement, you disgorge the entirety of several liters of frothy bubbling acid onto the door, where it immediately sizzles upon content. Regrettably that did consume the bulk of your crude biomass stores, but, was necessary. Metal sizzles, being chemically eaten away until its just a porus, fragile wafer. Carl wipes his mouth, despite the fact that you made sure nothing dibbled onto him. Ingrate. "I'm supposed to be grateful? You highjacked my body" you mentally point out it is an improved body. "Improved body. Fine, sure, lets go into this sealed off section of the station filled with fuck all." And just like that, you do. Enhanced eyes see in what little light there is well enough, compared to what would normally be almost pitch black.

>82,89: Pretty damn good.

Creeping through the dark, you and your fleshy ally pass back and fourth basic thoughts, mild complaints and retorts, and in general; banter. With the degree of emotional and empathetic feedback its hard to tell where sociopath manipulation, and genuine opinion start and stop. Its safe to say Carl was no angel either, though he did have the benefit of being raised as a human. You have the excuse of being a biomorphic likely engineered organism who came into gradual sapience with a very different initial worldview that involves eating other sapients. Still, this connection is a challenge, it grows stronger quickly, and makes lies hard to keep given the ability to feel intent.

The progress has been good, and the map has been true. Checking it periodically also provides green CRT illumination to the darkness, spotting rats, grubs, and other treats. Still fully repulsed by the taste and sensation of eating these things, Carl doesn't have much choice, plus as you remind him, he owes you; you got him laid. twice.

In your journeys you come across as sealed doorway that would in theory save you time getting to the next sub level if it was listed on the map.

The noise, whatever it is, is coming from behind the sealed doors. Just a rare and occasional mechanical thump and the even odder blip. Carl doesn't need any prompting, and kicks the door several times. Doesn't budge. You give him a little help, cranking up blood pressure and dumping adrenaline into his blood. He kicks the door hard enough that his shin suffers a hairline fracture and knocking himself flat on his ass. Regenerative cells rush to the problem and within moments the bone is already knitting. The same cannot be said for the caved in door. Dim lights illuminate an otherwise stuffed room full of laboratory supplies. There appears to be an independent power supply for this room, and a single old computer still running.

Looking at the power supply critically, you notice a tripped external circuit breaker, and press it back in. Carefully. The barely alive machine slowly spins up to a healthy hum, and soon the room comes to life, aside from the computer, which does not. A white plastic crate opens automatically, revealing something that just smells fantastic. Its a roughly 2 liter glass bottle filled full of a brilliant azure fluid. You feel something genuinely close to love for that fluid, and want to consume it badly. Its just sitting there. Almost. No wait, it is sparkling slightly in the light, iridescent colors play through it's volume.

The container of blue fluid is sealed by a thin metallic foil that Carl removes. With a bit of hesitation on his part, he downs the contents in a manner that would put any oktober fest goer to shame. You feel the almost syrupy contents making their way towards your true form, sufficing carl's mundane cells, and bringing life so powerful it is almost light within your mind. Stumbling around high as fuck, the duo as one bump into some equipment which also contains the fluid, but only on display, stored inside some sort of device with hoses and cables poking out. Not to be defeated you instruct Carl to siphon out the life giving substance, which he does, and is surprisingly easy. You can't fight off the sleep, which is weird, you never sleep, but it comes. Already Carl has flopped onto the floor, and you roll around drunkenly in his belly before passing out.

>85: Well rounded

You dream. You dream, of a place where you are simply unfettered. No more running, no more eating. Just existing. Complete. As you gently twist and swirl in your slumber, a number of subtle changes wash over your true form. Pale, near translucent flesh stretches and elongates, thickening as neural matter fills out and increases in complexity, developing new nodes for more complex senses. Senses which now haunt your dreams, you hear the faintest whispers, they dont belong here, but are no threat. Odd. It stirs you in time for your tendrils to spread and blur, the line between host and biomorph blurs as thousands of fibers extend into Carl, pumping out more biomorphic stem cells, filling in gaps, improving, replacing. The connection between you two is quite profound, or at least the most significant connection to another being you have experienced. You find yourself reliving some of Carl's deeper memories, one snapshot at a time. Life was not kind to him, but he survived, found a niche within his ecosystem and adapted, discarded notions of enjoyment for the reality of survival. Existence can be wretched, yes, but its there for the taking. The alternative is not acceptable.

Carl writhed in his sleep, his passenger doing its best to suppress desperately firing signals from pain receptors as segmented sheets of thin yet hyper dense chitin and bone worked their way beneath his skin, sealing off organs and bone with a barrier more substantial than muscle and skin. You glance though his eyes at his form reflected in a shiny metallic container, sweat racks his body, skin pale from exertion while blood runs from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Yet he lives, unaware. The pain for you was...academic. You experienced it, sampling it from his nervous system, but, without really being wired for a response to it, there is no associated reaction. It is just pain. Already weathered skin tightens, and faded eyes darken with new life. Fresh sprigs of hair poke in through a thinning scalp. His feelings of debt will increase for this, even if his attempts at resentment out of societal conditioning flicker. Your thoughts are interrupted by more whispers.

You nudge his mind with your own. "wake up. company is coming.."

You look around quickly, already you can hear footfalls coming down the hall. An old extinguisher. A quick glance at the analog pressure gauge indicates there is still some PSI in it. Time seems to move a little slower now, it might be the improved senses and brains, but both you and Carl notice it, like his body just cant quite keep up. Its not too noticeable, but it's there. Shadows of at least 6 figures are cast in the hall outside as you whip the extinguisher out the doorway and shoot it with your plasma derringer. 1 shot. already gone. fuck. The rapidly expanding cloud of white fire suppressant will act as a smoke screen for only a moment.

You looked over at the generator, with some work it's molten power supply could have been made to overload, you could have sheltered behind some equipment, and probably broken on into a new section with the door barricaded and your pursuers frustrated and slowed down. Instead you set the generator to overload anyway. Carl takes initiative and breaks into a dead sprint towards the fog of fire suppressant. What carl's eyes cant see, you feed to him via electromagnetic overlay. Six figures. The count was right. Something else scratches around inside your mind, the whispers, tactical coordination, payment. something. Its new data. Confusing. Like Carl, but not him. Not from within. From Without.

Sweeping targeting lasers creep through the fog, the fact that they are normal spectrum visible immediately says a few things. Cheap gear. Cheap gear rules out imperials and whatever the "sanitizers" were. Lower tier goons. Still lethal, but not out your capability to handle. Carl's haymaker is not anything a martial artist would ever be proud of, but it moves at roughly 4 times the speed of a normal human's with significantly more strength behind it. These elements combine to crush through the ceramic layers of a ballistic face shield and out the back of a helmet. An equally explosive kick sends the convulsing body flying through the air and towards it's companions as Carl explodes from cover and into a hail of gunfire. Arms in front of his face, he shields his head from the worst of it, you hear a heavy patter of noise from within your little nest inside the host's guts. Despite never hearing it, its oddly similar to rain on a canvas tent. There is pain, but you flood the bloodstream with endorphins and adrenaline, pushing an augmented body to it's extremes. You can feel the rational mind of carl dissolving; human minds are so interesting. They think of themselves as...One. one. Its not. There are so many little components of the brain, nested and stack ontop and within one another, firing, acting, thinking, conversing. Each one contributes to the "one." Right now, those responsible for the idea of what Carl is are shutting down, shunting blood and bandwidth to the part of him that was responsible for millions of years of progress, and you have to admit. It is beautiful...

Carl's body moved with ballistic grace, ripped flesh exposed dark chitin beneath while a high speed kick send another armored pursuer into the wall, spidering the composite panel and leaving a massive dent in the middle of it. Blood poured out of the respirator on the body, organs liquefied from the force. Another body lay nearby, it's face smashed in from a headbutt. Behind that one someone else was torn in half, a gory trail of blood highlighted an attempt at crawling away before that one's chest was stomped in.

The last two were in full retreat. 1/2

>>3163345
Electronic chatter filled your senses as their communication devices filled the spectrum, practically broadcasting their hiding spaces to you, in turn to Carl. There was no thought on his part, simply response to stimulus. You liked this Carl. This Carl was great. You watched as he ripped off a door from it's hinges then proceeded to murder the man inside it, even as he raised his arms in defense. The door was driven into the small closet over and over again until wet pulp was held together with a mutilated uniform. The last one...it got smart, it turned off it's radio. Smart flesh. Tasty flesh. Interesting...sensation, with the host like this. The feedback changes you. Your cognitive mind notes this. Involuntary sympathy. Being aware of it means you can try to control yourself, but right now, you really dont want to. You can feel the panic in the "air", a fearful mind, running, running. Not fast enough. Your Host is strong, it is useful, It is powerful. It is your armor, and your weapon. You corner the frightened flesh, the stench of bowels and urine is strong. A primal memory of digesting a Dzizi rat from within sparks inside your mind as Carl lifts the man up, face to face, opening his mouth wide. too wide. You get the idea. Slithering up and out of Carl's maw, you experience the outside world for the first time in days, the somewhat cold, dry air of this part of the station, dust settling on your mucous covered skin, light causing eyes to react, taking in the squirming creature in front of you. Your maw opens wide as you lash forward, shattering through a face plate, biting through a skull, into a tender brain. Hunks of bloody, fatty, grey matter slide down your gullet, digesting before they ever hit the stomach. Weak, partly formed ideas of your meal's mind manifest to you; unexpected, but welcomed. Following instinct is rewarded. "The family", a pay off. Their off station location...leaving a daughter in place as adjunct. Many confusing thoughts, most trivial and even the important ones quickly dissolving, what you are left with is a memory of a memory's contents. You gorge for a while, enjoying the feast, Carl still in a state of mental blankness. Eventually you reel back into his guts, tucking yourself away, waking up your host.

"Good job out there killer." he has no commentary for now, though he surveys the carnage, you can feel conflicted thoughts play across his mind, but he is at heart, an older man, practicality is ingrained into him; the reality was they were there to kill him. He feels more upset about loosing control and how he killed, than that he did, but his mind quickly copes and acknowledges that it doesn't even matter. Its just mincing details over a concluded act. The future is ahead. And it is. You never realized your host was also a philosopher. If you had hands you would have clapped them in delight. Carl gets that feedback and grins, but it's bitter. He knows what you want. Its the biomass. 2/3(IFUCKINGLIED)
>>
>>3163360
You feel the frown etching into his face as he slams to his knees in front of the faceless corpse you were gnawing on earlier. "Not like im even human anymore. Suppose it would be a stretch to call it cannibalism." you know he is lying to himself. Its totally cannibalism. You inform him. "I'm trying...to cope, can you give me that?." "No Carl. You exhibit weakness trying to lie to yourself, assuage the truth of the situation. Be what you were a moment ago. That was beautiful. Just outstanding." ..."You know, I'm starting to remember everything, even you thinking you could erase those thoughts. You are a real shitfuck." the vulgarity gives you pause "I never fornicated with that rat Carl, you know that. Lets not be crass. Also, a growing boy needs his meat. I'm hungry Carl. Lets quit fucking around, you know me now. I know you. You know if you press it I'm going to dissolve you from the inside out, but otherwise you are my friend, my only friend. Don't make me be like this." he sighs and starts ripping out chunks of the meat before shoving it into his mouth, chewing, trying not to retch. "Can you just put me away for now, I dont like this." you give him a mental nod and push Carl into unconsciousness. He tried. At least he tried. He will get there, you are sure of it.

With the bodies gathered into a location, you appreciate the explosion that sounds as the generator kicks off. Apparently you didn't quite get that one right, it was a little delayed, still. There is a new pathway to investigate. Eating slowly, you let Carl come to for a moment. He looks over at the bodies. "Where are their hands?" ..."what? sometimes you get a hankering for hands Carl. Cant a biomorph eat some hands?" It was true, they were good for the texture. Crunchy, chewy, snappy, stringy. Just great. "I'm....just going to go again." "Don't be like that Caaarrrllll!" He was already gone, pushed back into a corner of his mind, back to your control. As you ate, you mused, there were a lot of options to consider. Maybe he didn't like hands.

The mercs wew more a bunch of thugs and hitmen given toys. Carl's rampage hand'nt (haha. hand pun. oh you. It would be nice if Carl came back to appreciate that joke. Its your first. Now you are a little lonely.) Distracted momentarily by slightly melancholy reveries you inventory the gear now slung onto your host. It was a good thing there were six of them, despite the last one's gear being rather pristine, you doubt Carl would have been ok walking in fecal matter. The others weren't dead long enough to void themselves before you got to work stripping them down. The injuries on your host are already recovered, that should smooth over things for him. (was that another joke? perhaps he would appreciate the context considering his epidermis was rough due to weapons fire. sensitive baby.)

>Gained:
Generic assault suit and helmet, complete with electronic communications and recording capability.
Rebreather and recharge canister with 5 minutes of supplemental air. useful.
Tactical webbing rig for holding a lot of stuff. Tactically. probably knock off.
Phased plasma SMGs, and a lot of ammo, really. A lot. They never got time to expend it all.
targeting laser. UV Blue.
Tactical flashlight.
6 pointy knives.
Pair of electrochromatic digital display sunglasses. cool.
days worth of station rations.
wrist mounted tracking device, configured for Carl.
A decent pile of anonymous credit chits. Enough for a night out on the town and a few favors left over.
Physical photos of a busty topless woman with implanted ornamentation on her...this must be a human thing.

Your old duffel bag is pretty close to bursting, and the web rig is stuffed. You like like some sort of homeless man with a fetish for military surplus.

Review what we have, so we know exactly what everything does. We need to survive, and everything helps.
Next, we wipe the recorded data. The less our enemies know about us, the better. No messages, no traces.

Anyway we can stash the excess gear to find a fence for all of it later? After we've wiped the records of most of the stuff? It doesn't hurt to earn an extra buck.
>>
Is there a mutation that can change Carl/us to make him more effective in a sense so we require less biomass to keep on chugging or less hungry (more fuel efficient)?

>After the host had left, unseen by anyone, a terminal flashed an updated message about multi level cycle complete, then went black. These actions have consequences.
>Historic migration as lower levels experience habitabiltiy increase. "machines just work!"
So that's the kind of consequences that happened. Neat.

Did we ever figure out what that azure fluid we drank was, and how one goes about acquiring or making more? More for us is better.

Did we eat the six alien corpses?

In that order.
We need to quickly review the equipment to make sure there's no tracking capabilities on it. Don't want to lose our meatsuit because somebody installed 'find my communicator' on to the assault gear. Or that the wrist-mounted tracking device is still beaming our location back to base (how does that thing work anyway?)
>>
>>3163395
The equipment was cheap upon investigation, made to be disposable. Likely so were the men sent after you. A generic process for a factory reset blanks out all the data once downloaded to your wrist computer. Just screams and death. Good warm feelings there. The extra loot was calling to the avarice in Carl, it was easily worth a thousand creds but there is a long way to go, and despite being strong, the extra rattle and bulk would slow you down through tight spaces, of which there are many amongst the decaying and forgotten guts of the station. You'll probably sell off this crap down the road, but selling all of it in a remote corner of the station would arouse suspicion once people started getting curious. Still, you stash the extra equipment in the burned ruins of the equipment room, out of sight. Never hurts.

A little digital peg on your map indicates the location of this stash. Settling down you do a quick inventory of your gear, going in depth.

Woven fibers and ceramic plates over a flame retardent skin make up the assault suit. Good enough for resisting small arms fire, but its more showy with red inserts. Standard backworld garage shop shit to dazzle yokels and wannabe toughguys. No detection, no monitors, nothing. Still, better than being shot. You roll the rebreather over, its new-old stock, likely police surplus from somewhere, again, no tech, but a high quality filtration system that exceeds the protection your suit offers, maybe hazmat/ bioterrorism response team. Not as effective without a full NBC suit, but still good considering your enhanced biology. The little canister near the face reads full. Good. The webbing is nothing more than simple nylon and polyester with kevlar fibers woven in at exactly enough content to claim "KEVLAR!" on the label. Good for holding stuff, but not fireproof.

The SMG is a nice little thing, if built disposably. Stamped 1mm sheet metal, glass filled plastic, mass produced internals. Near disposable. Plasma projectiles in this range more explode on contact, creating a distinctive shallow crater in things. Big boy weapons fire a longer stream of plasma instead of individual "puffs" but the ammo efficiency compared to regular slug throwers won over a lot of people. The mercs put on a flashlight, blue UV laser, and oh...that's nice. A camera. small, likely low def, no nightvision. You fiddle with the camera, and your new glasses. Yep. Smart link. Use the gun to peep around corners and cover. Handy. A six pack of generic combat knives round out your newfound weapons. Unbalanced, but pointy. The steel wasn't even cryotreated. With a serrated back, fuller groove, and drop point they act the part of a bad ass knife, but fall short on the materials. The synthetic one piece guard and handle are injection molded around the blade. not full tang. You frown at the knives.

The glasses are probably the nicest bit of gear in the mess, and only one guy had them. They have their own computer, camera, and interface with most technology like your gun cam or wrist computer. Electrochromatic, infinatly variable shade, reflectivity, and color tint. Useful in industrial applications like laser work. Yeah, these are the winner right here. Slightly older model.

Commo equipment. Another Camera with a radio. Meant to be head mounted. The radio has a throat mic. The encrypted channel it was on seems to have terminated with the life of the users.

A generic but semi expensive tracking unit, shows lifeforms in the area with a pulsing ring and dot highlight. game over man, game over.

The photos Carl takes and tucks into a pocket for later research. Black hair and pale skin. Nice. nice.

More credit chits, non transferable, and disposable upon depletion.

yep. yep. Standard shit. You bleed off some of the solid ammo to be vaporized into the SMG's gas chamber for later ionization and phase excitation. It beeps upon cycle completion and assures you of 100 shots.
---
Geared up and good to go, you grab ahold of the door on the equipment room and pull it shut from inside. Unpowered hydraulics and gearing protests, but Carl's modified body wins out. That should deter interest for a while with the previous scene now cleaned up. Leaping through the newly made exit in the back of the room, over the ruins of destroyed machinery and equipment, you hit the rusted, rotted floor of your shortcut, and collapse through the floor. Its an appreciably long drop, at least 4 or 5 seconds, and enough to knock both you and carl out when you hit the bottom.

>Remember that natural 1? Sorboclese Remembers that natural 1.

As Carl opened his eyes, he heard chittering, but it was dark, and the voice was nowhere to be heard. He felt the weight in his gut, it was heavier than before. Fucking tapeworm. Fumbling on the plasma SMG he managed to get the light on in time to see a horde of large insects rushing to investigate their next meal. Attempts to get up were hindered by legs broken and twisted.

>97: Run and Gun.

The SMG's laser and flashlight sweep over the darkness, landing on the first monstrous insect. The characteristic whining screech of a plasma weapon fills the rusted pit that currently serves as your makeshift tomb. Despite the armored nature of the bug, enhanced reflexes allow Carl to paint each hit on the same exact spot, boring a hole into the multilegged asshole and dropping it flat. At the same time, between shooting, reloading, and not getting killed, he can only do two, and there are enough bugs to make the last one not an option. Four of six knives are offloaded quickly, thrown and impaled into more of the creatures, but it doesn't seem to stop them. Resolving to go down killing, carl grips a cheap knife in each hand.

A scythe like appendage punches through his lower torso, nearly missing you in the process. The invading object stirs your unconscious form; like a good biomorph you bite through it. The insect reels back from Carl, screeching in indignation while its companions circle him like pack predators. Taking direct control of your host, you spasm muscles to shift broken bones back into place. The action is painful beyond words, and he screams. "Grow up Carl. Stick with me long enough and its going to get worse." The banter was really just to distract him, but he barely registered it as you pop him back onto his feet. "Like right now. this...is going to hurt." All the biomass accrued from the would be assassins begins fueling a particularly energetic metabolic process. The insects seem to slow down as Carl's leg muscles bunch and swell, compressing until he explodes upwards into an impossible flip landing outside the killing circle. In that time another insect was dropped by the SMG.

The next 10 minutes of your lives are ones of pure panic as you flee into the corroded depths of whatever level this is, shooting, reloading, and evading. More of the creatures emerge, eager for flesh, but your speed and their innate penchant for a proclivity towards cannibalism causes groups to stop the chase and dive on fallen or injured kin. A thick vault like door provides respite as Carl slams it shut and twists the locking mechanism shut with a tortured groan. Slumping against the wall, you both sit, breathing heavily, the sucking wound in carl's torso slowly closes now that he wrenched out the chitin blade stuck in it. "We made it. We...fucking made it. I...*huff* I dont even have a name for you." true. You dont even have a name. Its...such an alien idea. "Carl why dont you call me whatever you want."

He starts to open his mouth in time for dozens of red mechanical eyes to flicker to life. The SMG screeches as it recharges, carl's grip on it white knuckled.
