You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A High first year student, gold medalist, concussion collector, nurse office regular, image board lurker, amateur boot taster and log-like sleeper.

While you are fond of that pun, it's not just a wood joke. You may have won the tournament, but you didn't do so unscathed, and almost every fight sent you limping back to Recovery Girl.

Your foes got it worse, true, but every time you got treated you got more sluggish and tired.

Thus, it's no surprise for you to wake up with the sun in your eyes. The angle however, is rather surprising. Being used to waking up at the crack of dawn most days, having the sun come through the window from high up in the sky is a rare occurrence.

Rarer still, is the lack of breakfast smell. It may have been a late morning and you would never tell momma, but you feel entitled to a breakfast spread after falling asleep without dinner.

You are thankful for not having had to sleep in your uniform, and for having a good enough relationship with her to not be bothered by her undressing you and dressing you up again in your pajamas, but she could have thrown something together for you, even if it would have gone cold by now.

Heck it's almost lunch time and you haven't eaten anything in over twelve hours! You would scarf down cold scrambled eggs without question right now!

A rather good reason to hop off bed and head downstairs, carefully holding on to the handrail to compensate for your difficulty at looking down.

The house looks as clean as always, in no small part thanks to your mother lacking in pastimes. It makes the white flower over the kotatsu stand out all the more.

One of the few things she does do to pass the time is tending to a small garden she tries to keep on what few feet of soil can be found in front of the house, but she is not one to leave stuff lying around, not while sober. And since you don't smell any alcohol, it must have been intentional.

"Camellia, wasn't it?" You ask the flower, walking over and picking it up, finally noticing the note underneath, and in turn a ¥10,000 bill underneath it.

>"Heya! Ah didn't want to wake you up, but Ah had some things Ah felt like Ah had to take care of <ASAP>" You read, chomping down on the white flower. You don't feel picky. "Ah should be back at dinner, and Ah bet you'll like it, so let's meet back up later. Go out, have fun! You earned it! Love, Mom."

You chow down the stem without a second thought, chasing the softly sweet taste and the cool sensation it leaves on your tongue. Hard to believe most people don't like eating flowers. Why even give them?

...Well, that was unexpected.

So, the vote on internships is likely coming this thread or early next thread, we should start discussion now so we know what we’re doing before the vote and we don’t end up with the same salt from the cavalry battle vote. The most frequently mentioned four so far are

Endeavor
+Highest ranked hero that is likely to give Ushi an offer
-Already teaching Ushi and can’t teach us any skills specific to our quirk or face skills
+-will lead to Ushi getting involved in the stain fight, whether this is good or bad is down to opinion. More details bellow.

Mt Lady
+Promised to teach Ushi some moves if we pick her, most likely fighting techniques for fighting while giant (making the most of our new strength, reducing collateral damage, not ripping off clothing, etc)
+Decent pick for face stuff
-relatively inexperienced
Note: As indicated by previous conversation with her, she probably won’t ignore Ushi like Mineta in cannon.

Edgeshot
+Capable of teaching ushi to use her shrink powers better, particularly for dodging.

Uwabami
+The best choice for improving Ushi’s face skills
-will do absolutely nothing for combat skills, see Momo’s cannon internship.

Some other honorable mentions are

Miruko
+mutant
+the best hero to help Ushi improve her leg skills
+hot as hell

Best Jeanist
+great for face skills
+If he takes both Bakugo and Ushi we get to watch and take pictures as he is humiliated

Gunhead
+-Will likely teach melee techniques including disarming opponents, but Ushi is already going to learn those in wrestling training.
-his internship helped uraraka, if he doesn’t take both this would leave her weaker

Hawks
+Mutant
-not much he can teach Ushi that she isn’t learning elsewhere already
-his internship helped Tokoyami, if he doesn’t take both this would leave him weaker
-relatively inexperienced

Gang orca
+Mutant
+-Can teach melee techniques, but Ushi is already going to learn those in wrestling training.

Ryukyu
+-Would be able to help Ushi with fighting while enlarged, but probably not as well as Mt lady due to her having a different body shape when enlarged and her being able to bypass certain problems by flight.

Yoroi Musha
+Both old and a top 10 hero, suggesting a lot of experience
-Not sure what his power is
>>
For the stain thing, our powers are badly suited to fighting him as most of our techniques are reliant on touching him, with the only exceptions not being tested in combat (we have never used Austin tossin to throw an object at an enemy, only to throw the enemy themselves). On the other hand, the relationship between Shoto and Deku is different this time, he will probably still go to help Deku but with the life of Iida on the line that’s a big risk to take.
>>
>>3196395
I vote Best Jeanist for the reasons you mentioned.
>>
>>3196408
I would absolutely be down for Shoto not showing up due to not being super invested, and having Native and Iida die while Izuku is spared due to having the spirit of a true hero, resulting in lots of trauma. And all because we affected the placements of the third round of the festival and won.
>>
>>3196395
aside from this list being biased as fuck toward the top two, I'm going edgeshot.
>>
>>3196395
You do know that if we go with Best Jeanist, we will get a haircut too, right? and it'll be much more drastic than Bakugo's comb job

imma wait till Mic lists the pros/cons for the available mentors
>>
>>3196424
Why would you post that.
>>
>>3196414

When the vote comes up I will be voting Mt Lady, so i’m definitely biased there, but I actually like Edgeshot more than Endevor. Edgeshot’s list might be short but it’s got no negatives.
>>
I just realised the thread image's background changed to red. What did Mic mean by this?
>>
I'm between Endeavor and Mt Lady. THe former because we got to learn under him at some point while training with Shota (Hot Ice boi?) and the former because she's our idol.

Does the MC got a boy or girlfriend yet?

Also muh Whip training when
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd7fEl_Bnw0
>>
>>3196444
my personal problem with those two is that, we already know them. At any point in the future, we could probably go to them for training.

This internship will be a chance to make a new connection. But instead the deal seems that people want to concentrate on who we already know, endeavor for shoto, who we already are on pace for since it seems all the opposition has given up, or mt lady, cause mic decided, for some reason, to make ushi have a connection with her, and she has a similar quirk to ours.

for whips... edgeshot or jeanist would probably help out there, given their quirks.
>>
>>3196444

Iida confessed to Ushi, but due to a bad roll we didn’t realize it. There was a not double date thing that happened with Denki, but we voted against going further down that path last thread (no hard feelings from Denki). Due to all of the stuff with Shoto, he is all but locked in as husbando.
>>

size changing powers are fun
>>
>>3196302
>>[Before anything else, just whip up some breakfast. Grazing on a single flower won't do anything for you in the long run.]
>>
I think this has been discussed before, how Ushi could increase the size of her whip to also increase it's length.
Whips in general are more of a showy tool than a weapon and more effective on exposed targets than armored one. Normally a whip can damage skin and cause a massive amount of pain, more so if you add barbs to it, but what about adding a mace to the end of the whip, and increasing it's size?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whip
>>
Do we still carry around a piece of bread?
>>
>>3196481
Of course, this just means that the waifu war between Momo and Pony can take center-stage.
>>
>>3196529

A more effective modification for combat would be to make the whip move on its own like Aizawa’s capture weapon. If it can coil around the opponent we can shrink both the whip and enemy at the same time, winning the fight right there.
>>
>>3196536
she should swap it for something that will last longer. bread can get stale or moldy. maybe some kind of trail mix
>>
>>3196555
I don't think that's how Ushi's quirk works unless there's something special about Aizawa's capture weapon that would allow Ushi's quirk to spread to the target. From what I can recall, Ushi's quirk affects things she would touch, so even if she used the capture weapon she would still need to close the distance and touch the target, rather than shrink the weapon and opponent?

>>3196560
Why not an energy or protein bar?
>>
>>3196571
trail mix is a bunch of stuff, Ushi can just embiggen one piece at a time as she needs to.
>>
>>3196571

During the cavalry battle momo was hanging from a rope so we shrank both momo and the rope at the same time to pull her towards us faster, though there was a -1d to the roll. If we can shrink momo holding on to a rope, then shrinking an enemy coiled up in a whip should also be possible.

The capture whip would have to be designed to be less complex than Aizawa’s weapon though, it took him 6 years to master that.
>>
>>3196585

Well, Ushi is more experienced with a whip than Aizawa was.
>>
>>3196574
True true, but might as well go for the bars. Those are a lot more balanced and had about most of the nutrients that you need, thought I'm probably wrong about my nutrition food facts. Which ever the case might be for the most effective food on the go, do you think we could possibly get a sponsorship by the trail mix or food bars we choose to eat to feed our metabolism? Is it weird to have jerky in trail mix? What if we keep jerky with us instead of using bread, train mix or protein bars?

>>3196585
....wow. ok. I take back my post. that's pretty awesome.
If it took him several years to master his capture weapon then I guess we should stick to what we already got, that being the whip. It'll be great if Ushi fights all Belmont like.
>>
>>3196598
trail mix has variety
legumes and nuts for protein and calories
dried fruits and chocolate for sugar

forgot to include "not fantastic' tasting emergency food bar. I tried one once and didn't like it all too much, thought it was probably because it was a few years past it's best by date and thick is fuck.
the pic wasn't the one I had. The one I had was blue and white ERbar made by Vita-Life.

>>3196608
Very good points for the trail mix which I am now in support for. At least it's not bread. It won't mold and has a better shelf life.

>>3196302
Does Ushi know how to make chili?
>>
>>3196598
Obvious choice is to just carry around some bread for sandwhich making/munching on for lunch, then just keep some jerky/trailmix for later.

She has enough of a metabolism to go through a bag of cut up bread peices/crutons a day without wasting any.
>>
>>3196395
I'm amazed that you could put so much effort into a list and suck so much ass at it.
Mt Lady can only teach us to be good at fighting while giant, and the vast majority of criminals won't be confronted in a location that allows for going giant. That's a big minus.
Edgeshot would do far more than teach her to use shrink better. He'd teach her to perfect techniques that utilize the supersonic speed of her quirk, both growing and shrinking. And precision in particular - something that Ushi really could use for when she doesn't want to wreck someone's entire body at once dangerously. Precision and control is always extremely nice to have.
Gang Orca could teach the importance of weakness mitigation, learning how to operate out of your element, and is probably good for a few Wind dice considering his bullshit level of stamina and durability.
Musha shouldn't even be in the list since we don't know what the fuck he's about yet.
>>
>>3196612
>Obvious choice is to just carry around some bread for sandwhich making/munching on for lunch, then just keep some jerky/trailmix for later.
>She has enough of a metabolism to go through a bag of cut up bread peices/crutons a day without wasting any.
>not carrying around everything you need to make sandwiches on the go
Just bread alone isn't all too nutritious, and do you mean for her to carry around a sandwich with her on the go or the bread alone? Or do you mean all the ingredients to make a sandwich? A better choice for her would be to ask a techie to make a mini fridge with and independent power source. That way Ushi could fill the fridge with whatever she wanted and carry it around with her on the go.

Fuck oh my god has anyone considered this? We gotta do this. We could have micro fridged and freezers to go. Anywhere is a picnic. Or have a ton of emergency supplies. The skys the limit. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

>>3196625
You make an agreeable point about Edgeshot. Anything to get muh Belmont fix on. I recall Ushi could close the distance between herself and a target with a combination with shrinking and enlarging herself.

1. I do say she would most likely be teaching fighting techniques for fighting while giant. Since she manages to get into the top 30 of thousands Japanese heroes, I think you’re exaggerating the problem, especially since learning to fight while giant doesn’t stop us from learning to fight in other ways.
2. There is no way he’s teaching all of that in 2 weeks, especially when the internship covers other stuff too. In that time no internship will lead to us “perfecting” anything, just making improvements.
3. Most if not all of which we would be able to get from training with endevor or wrestling training
4. He’s old as fuck and still in the top 10, we might no almost nothing about him, but the one thing that’s obvious is that he’s the most experienced hero possible for the internship.
>>
>>3196659
Stain isn’t a lizard. He just cut his nose off. Are you thinking of Spinner?
>>
>>3196681
>Exaggerating
Except it's explicitly stated in canon that the vast majority of confrontations happen indoors. And mount lady is by no means all that competent, she causes property damage often.
>Edgeshot
It may be only 2 weeks, but if we do well enough with him it can continue to intern under him in the future. Besides, Edgeshot himself is a top 10.
>Endeavor or wrestling training
You act like having more sources to get Wind dice is a bad thing. The more of that shit we have, the longer we can last. Ushi needs more stamina, despite having 5 guts. And besides, I doubt Endeavor's going to put Ushi into many usual environments, likely just city patrolling as we see Shoto doing.
>Most experienced hero possible
That's just pulling shit out of your ass. You have no idea when he actually started to be a hero, or how many villains he's engaged before. Going by number crunching, Endeavor would be the most experienced due to how many villains he's taken down. And besides that, he's only top 10 later on - he's currently not in the top 10.
>>
>>3196713
while Musha is only known to be in the top 10 in the next hero ranking update, it's likely that he went down, rather than up. He didn't participate in Kamino Ward, so there's nothing he would have done that would have risen him from sub 10 up to 9, especilly when Gang Orca, who did participate, went down to 11.
>>
>>3196740
The dude himself mentioned that every spot other than 1, 2, and 3 were obtained through luck and timing. At the very least, we can assume that he thinks the same about his own placing.

Shit dude, a washing machine placed top ten.
>>
>>3196713

1. Yes, but with those problems she still has a fairly high rank, so either it isn’t that big of a minus for her or she has a way to deal with said problem. As for the competency, I do mention on the list she is relatively inexperienced.
2. It will be easier to do the long term internship with him if we do the 2 week one now, but not necessarily impossible. A two week internship with Mt lady followed by a long term internship with Edgeshot would be the most beneficial to Ushi’s combat skills.
3. It isn’t, hence why “can teach melee techniques” is listed as a +- rather than a -, it is useful but since we’re getting it elsewhere already it’s a lower priority than other benefits. Endeavor won’t put Ushi into unusual environments during the internship, but he might eventually do something during the weekly(?) training sessions we have with Shoto
4. With how the hero system is shown to work I don’t think hero’s can start late. I’m measuring experience mostly by their age rather than villains defeated since hero work isn’t just about defeating villains.

Anon, Stain gets sent to the most secure prison in the country. I don't think they'll let some high schooler just visit a convicted murderer anytime she wants.

It's not a world shaking amount of cash, but you certainly could have fun with it, even saving part of it for later, but you can think about that later.

Your stomach wastes no time after you swallow the end of the steam to remind you that while it was a tasty flower, but still just a tiny flower, not what an active girl should call breakfast. In fact it did little but increase your already ravenous appetite.

Having a fairly good idea of what's currently in the pantry, you set off to cook yourself a good brunch. Nothing complicated.

You enter the kitchen like a gal on a mission, picking up a nice griddle pan and adapting it to size with a touch, same with the bacon, throwing in four strips just the size you'd want them to be before looking at what you are doing.

"...Just bacon? This won't do." You comment to yourself. You could just eat a sizeable part of your body weight in bacon, but you'd rather not spend the rest of the day on the bathroom, nor contract gout.

Leaving the bacon to the side, you grab another pan with the intent to make some scrambled eggs to accompany it, but what are scrambled eggs without a good slice of bread?

In the end your nice "brunch", as the time of the day would have forced you to call it, had you sporting a beaming smile as your nose helped you keep track of the loaf of homemade bread in the oven as you keep an eye on your soon-to-be crispy bacon on one pan and and the scrambled eggs on another.

The heat in the room is enough to make your shirt cling to your skin, but you can't do it any other way without letting the eggs or the bacon get cold or ruined, and you won't let anyone catch you half-assing your cooking!

After almost an hour of relaxing cooking and delightful smells and spices, you have a large dish consisting of bacon strips, slices of freshly baked bread and and scrambled eggs, all warm and in their perfect mouth-watering states.

So of course it would be then that your phone started ringing, closing the distance with an almost rhythmic thumping as it… Falls down the stairs?

That doesn't sound right.

>"Mistress! Your attention is solicited!" Tin's childlike voice announces, shedding some light on how the heck did your phone reach you.

"Uhm…" You let out, looking at the tiny robot enter the kitchen, then back at your breakfast, then back at your approaching phone, held by Tin in both hands and tail. "Oh, Shoto!"
>>
Maybe you should set special tunes for each of your friends, but you don't know what would be the best for each of them.

Still, you shove a quick forkful of eggs and a bit of bacon into your mouth before picking your phone up.

"Thanks pal." You tell the robot, relieving it from its burden.

You wonder what would Shoto call for just after lunch time, but answer anyway.

>"...Ushi?" He asks, seemingly unsure of something, likely if it was actually you on the phone.

"Ho-howdy!" You reply, trying to not choke on your chow.

>"...Have you ever felt responsible for something you never meant to do?" He then asks, sounding like he was dancing around something. "Felt like you need to set right something, despite logically never having done any wrong?"

It's hard to not choke then, if not for the riddle-like way he's talking, then for the fact that you forgot the juice, and the crumbs are trying to get into your lungs.

>"...Ushi?" He asks as you silently gulp down half the carton of orange juice.

>What do you do?

>[Give an encouraging but vague answer. "Well, yeah. Ain't that what heros do? Go out there and set that right!"]

>Y-yeah? Ah’m sorry, did Ah do somethin’ wrong again? What’s this about?

(I guess you can count it as an ask for clarification vote)

That’s basically all Ushi did yesterday, between hurting Pony’s feelings, hurting Uraraka’s feelings, and poking at Shoto’s hangups. It’s how she felt after Bakugo negged her. I mean, remember shocking our die with Shoto before when encouraging him? I can totally see Ushi thinking she’s missed something and Shoto’s fishing for an apology from her.

After baking and frying, you can confidently say that the kitchen is a water bucket away from feeling like a sauna, but you still feel a cold shiver run down your spine as you process his words.

Your mind races out of control, trying to think of anything you might have done that you need to apologize for, trying to parse the difference between things you don't think are offensive and things that actually aren't offensive, before realizing how much of a moot point that is.

With a final gulp you steel your nerves and calm yourself, or at least make a good attempt at pretending you do.

"Why are you speakin' in riddles, sugar?" You tell him, trying to sound supportive without coming off as condescending. "Come on, Ah can help you better if you tell me everythin'"

You have gotten better at reading Shoto, but you are sure anyone would have heard the hesitation in his voice as he sighs, in the thuds and chirps of his steps over old wood.

>"...Remember what I told Midoriya and you at the stadium?" He starts, prompting you to bring your hand to the left side of your face.

"Uh-huh…" You mutter, barely loud enough for your phone to pick it up.

>"I know more than anyone how living in this household can be, but..." "I… I never gave her a chance after that. After… that… I just stayed away. Have been doing it ever since."

Her... Was he talking about-

"...Your mom?" You ask, avoiding eye contact with the phone, for some reason.

>"...Yes. My...." He says, sighing again. "I saw her get taken away, confined. But I never tried to do anything about it."

"Well… Can anyone blame ya?" You ask him, keeping your voice steady despite feeling as out of your element as you can be. "Ah reckon there's no easy path here sugar."

>"But it does not have to be easy, doesn't it? Not for heros." He continues, and you can hear him pause his pacing. "I know her distress, and have not done anything about it... If I don't do anythingt, then I am just going through the motions."

"...What do you wanna do?" You wonder outloud.

>"I want to…" He says, pacing again. "...I should visit, right?"

"Wait. Are you asking me?" You ask back, surprised. "Why?"

>"Who else would I ask?" He replies without pausing. "Besides… I could use the input from someone with what I think is a normal family."

While it's not news to you, it still shakes you to your very core to think of Shoto's family. You can't, nor want to imagine what it'd feel to not have your parents unconditional love and support.

It's not an easy question by any means, but even though you know it needs more thought than you have given it in these few seconds, but you can't stop cycling back to the same line.

"She's family." You mutter, turning to face away from the phone.

Part of you feels like you should be advocating for a second chance regardless of that, but a brief brush of your thumb against the still somewhat jagged, broken edge of your horn makes you dismiss it. That didn't go well at all.

But it's not about you right now, but Shoto. And even though it's not something you'd bet your breeches over, there's the chance he finds someone different to whom he told you about.

And if he feels he needs to do it to clear his mind…

"Well, Ah don't think the uncertainty would be any better sugar. If not for her sake, for your own piece of mind. Besides, you wouldn't bring it up if you hadn't meant to do it, would ya?" You reply, fiddling with a lock of your hair. "Ah don't have anythin' planned for today, if ya need some support. "

>"Peace." He quickly replies.

"But Ah… See ya?" You say, stunned.

Did… Did you fuck up that badly, that quickly? But… But you were trying! What did you even do this time!

>"...Not piece." Shoto finishes, sighing. "Sorry, I needed to think… I think I need to do this alone, so I am afraid I must turn down your offer."

"..." You don't immediately respond, releasing your newfound frustration against the fork in your hand first, making it into a crappy spring. "...D-don't ya worry."

>"...Would you mind if I call you after though?" He asks then.

"'nope!" You answer without hesitation, dropping the ruined fork back on the table. "If you to talk or anythin' else', Ah'm just a call away, okay?"

>"Thank you Ushi. I hope you have a nice day." Shoto says, sounding calmer than he had during the call so far.

"You too sugar!" You reply, waving with your free hand, prompting Tin to look at your hand and then at the wall you are facing. "Remember to holler if ya need me!"

Then the call ends, leaving you with some conflicting emotions. Concern is chief amongst them, but there is also a large amount of pride.

After yesterday, just getting through a conversation without straining your precious new friendships feels like an accomplishment.

Still, you proceed to wolf down your breakfast as fast as you can, trying to enjoy whatever warm remained.

As you'd proudly boast to anyone who'd listen, it was as good as anything you've cooked.

But there's no one else, besides Tin.

What to do with the rest of the afternoon?

The good thing about washing the dishes often, is that it becomes an almost automatic process, ideal for thinking and planning what would you do with the rest of your day.

Stretching out your legs and hitting town does sound fun, and it would be nice to return to that place Ashido and Kirishima showed you that day. Maybe someone would even recognize you!

But you can't really afford to do it.

Well, not literally. You can buy a lot of stuff, but there's no time to waste!

Midterms are coming soon! You have no idea of how japanese traffic law works!

And you didn't work out yesterday!...

"'kay, that's stupid…" You tell yourself, drying your hands on your shirt at first, then counting on your fingers. "Still, Ah need to hit the books, notebooks, weights, bars, the shower and the hay early!"

>"This sounds contradictory to the given objective for the day." Tin points out as you start your way back upstairs.

You notice that being the size of your fist, it seems to have issues following you, so you turn around to face it.

"What are you talking about?" You ask the tiny robot, laying your hand over it and giving it a few dozen pounds worth of mass back, giving it a size comparable to a small dog.

You are pretty sure it's "normal" size would just break the stairs, so that has to be enough.

>"At Classroom 1-A, Professor Aizawa stated that the purpose of this two days break was to allow student to recover before returning to regular classes." The robot explains. "Meanwhile, it doesn't sound like you will be slowing down, Mistress."

"Well, ah can't just stop!" You tell it, maybe a bit too loud. "You know that Ah need good grades if Ah want that bike and Ah really want it, U.A. is still a very demanding school an there's teleporting gang of varmint on the loose that could come kill me and everyone Ah care about at any time!"

>"I'll set an alarm for breaks after every hour." It replies without further comment, following you at a distance of exactly 3 feet.

"Thanks!" You tell it, relieved by the lack of a comeback.

U.A.'s Department of Heroics is it's most famous one because of its excellence, so you were never surprised by the difficulty or depths of the subjects.
Well, that's not completely true.
It's actually surprising how much of it is just what you would expect of a normal school, just harder and with the hero curriculum as additional work.

Looking at your notebook, it certainly feels like it's 120% the work you expected out of highschool.

Part of you really expected to have heroics shoehorned into the other subjects, but you aren't sure why. Maybe you just expected some silliness like calculating patrol times in math.

"Plus Ultra, Ah guess." You say, opening a math exercises site on your laptop and putting you pen to your notebook.

Math is weird. It's not hard once you understand what you are doing and what formula applies to what, then hammer home the point with sheer repetition, getting faster at it with each repetition. If you can finish your test with time to spare, then you'll be able to check your answers for the best grade possible.

>"Please pause." Tin says poking you in the ribs with its tail. "It's been an hour."

"Really Ah-" You start, being interrupted by the groaning of your wooden spine as you straighten your back. "...That's a new one. Nevermind, Ah need to move."

>"You need to rest." Tin tells you.

"I'mma work out a bit." You tell it, taking off your pajamas and throwing on your work out gear.

No matter how much you train, you have already made peace with the fact that you won't ever be able to do anything strenuous without support.

>"Wouldn't you like to socialize?" Tin says, offering you your phone as you try some vertical pull ups, one of the few things you can do to challenge yourself with without much equipment.

"Ah'm not gonna stop." You tell it, hiding a hand behind your back.

>"Hello? Ushi, are you there?" Momo's voice asks, surprising you just enough to make you slip up and fall on your face. "Did your phone fall in your shirt? It has happened to me before."

"You mechanical betrayer." You murmur, shaking your fist at the robot, that still approaches you holding your phone.

Rolling a bit to avoid hurting your chest and back, you lay flat on your back and take the phone from the small robot, snatching it away from its grasp.

"...Howdy!" You greet her, staring at the ceiling.

>"Hello." She greets you back. "What can I help you with?"

Good gosh-darn question! You think, glaring at Tin.

There's something creepy about being manipulated by a machine, but you can't really be angry at it for bringing you closer to your friends.

...Even if you still don't know whether anyone is actually your friend.

"...Are you doing anything tomorrow?" You ask Momo regardless of that stinging doubt.

>"I don't have any important plans, if that's what you mean." She answers. "I was thinking of enjoying an online encyclopedia. Nothing is more relaxing than losing oneself down an hyperlink rabbit hole. What about you?"

...

"Uh… Ah don't really do plannin'." You admit, somewhat surprised at how empty your schedule is when you aren't being forced to do things. "But Ah was thinkin' we could hang out tomorrow!"

Since you didn't expect, nor start this, you don't really have much of an idea other than get out and rest, so asking her what she'd prefer feels like a good idea.

"How about you pick?" You ask her, wondering what a girl who can have everything would want to do. "Ah mean, Ah wanna see whatcha like to do, outside of burying your nose inna book."

>"Why do I?..." You hear her say slowly, inhaling. "You know, we could pay the spa a visit. I'm sure we could use the pampering."

"Eh… Ah'm not one for that frou frou kinda stuff, you know?" You argue back.

>"Oh?" She replies, not sounding quite sincere. "A shame, really. My back is a mess at the moment..."

"AH MEAN!" You almost shout at the screen. "Ah mean, sure. It'll be… relaxing?"

>"Great! Let's meet tomorrow afternoon!" She finishes, sounding giddy. "Farewell then!"

"See ya?" You reply, fairly confused. "What did just happen?"

>"You've agreed to a spa visit along with young Yaoyorozu, Mistress." Tin answers, completely ignoring the fact that it was a rhetorical question. "If my dictionary is correct, she offered detailed care and attention, likely from professionals."

"But ah didn't wanna…" You whine, dropping your arms to your side, enjoying your horizontality a bit.

Even before you started your training regime here in Japan, your back has been strong enough to keep the weight of your chest from causing you any pain or discomfort, but it's still a weight to bear.

>"You don't want to spend time with Yaoyorozu, or be cared for at the spa?" Tin asks you, making you feel a tad guilty.

"Well… Ah mean…" You delay for a few moments, thinking your response through.

You ain't no dainty belle to go get all pampered and made-up!

...Then, after a few seconds of thinking how dumb it is to stereotype yourself, you come up with a far more reasonable reason, one that despite having been thought up on the spot, it's no less true.

"Ah think it's more than a bit creepy!" You exclaim, sounding a bit too proud of yourself at the start, quickly letting your smile fall as you think about what you are saying, feeling a shiver run down your spine. "Imagine going to a place full'a strangers to get exposed and get their grabby mitts all over you!"

>"Unrequired. I've been in such a place." Tin replies, surprising you. "But the spa should be different from the workshop. Humans are easier to disassemble, but far more difficult to reassemble and even then performance tends to dips drastically."

You can only blink in its direction for a second.

"Ah reckon that's true…"You tell it, rolling back up to your feet. "Did the infirmary robots tell you all that? Ah knew that one smart-chute ain't a good influence on you."

>"Actually, it was the security system overseer." Tin replies. "It has a large catalogue of accidents and their after-."

"Ah ain't curious no more!" You interrupt it, not wanting to know any details.

>"Understood." Tin tells you before asking. "Will you rest now, Mistress?"

"...Fine." You reply, trudging a couple steps back to your desk and plopping down on your chair. "Ah'll do somethin' else."

You put on your earbuds and look for something to try and play something on your laptop.

…You haven't had time to download any new games.

Instead, you download a free fantasy game and spin in your chair for half an hour, waiting for it to finish setting up.

After the tutorial in the small hometown of your hero, you are teleported to a common instance, dragging your immersion through the mud as your barbarian becomes just one of the 70 or more chosen ones in a town that couldn't possibly house more than 30 families.

Still, the ambient music is nice, and the world looks alive enough, so you pick a random direction and start walking, looking at the mobs of the world and trying to count how many tree models you can find before they start repeating, trying to keep yourself from minimizing the game and do something more productive with your time.

The rest of the afternoon passes without any further incident, as you don't even notice the passage of time, only noticing the encroaching dusk when the noise of momma's car pulls you away from your newly established goat farm.

"She's back!" You tell yourself, and Tin by virtue of proximity.

You waste no time closing the game and throwing your sports gear on the chair before pulling out a simple outfit out off your closet.

Just in time, as your phone starts ringing just after you finish spreading the deodorant under your boobs.

"Howdy!" You quickly hail your mom.

>"Heya! Are you home already?" She quickly asks, with audible excitement in her voice. "Or do you need me to go pick you up?"

"Ah'm in mah room?" You answer with some curiosity.

>"Great! Wait five minutes and then step out of the house! Ah have a surprise for you!" After that, there's a brief giggle, but then she quickly ends the call.

It takes a fair amount of willpower to sit still, but you manage to rhythmically twiddle your thumbs until your phone's clock ticks up to the promised time.

After calmly walking down the stairs, you dash towards the door, opening it to a rather amazing sight, your mother next to a massive bike. By what you can see, you could barely

>"What do you think hun?" She asks, holding a helmet out for you as she pats the bike. "Ah wanted to get you the biggest 'un, but you can't drive anything more powerful than 400cc till you are 18 years old, so ah had it capped… Not a clue of what that is though. Also, licenses are only granted on wednesday mornings."

You really, really weren't expecting this. Not that you don't like it though! NOT AT ALL!

You just dash and hop towards the bike, looking it up and down! The massive wheels! The toxic sweet aromas of newly unwrapped plastic and the recently tested engine!

"<AH GOT A BIKE! AH GOT A BIKE!>" You screech, dropping to your hands and knees to look at the bottom of the bike up close. It's not even scratched!

"TIN! <AH GOT A BIKE!>" You yell at the open door, getting Tin to approach.

>"I can only understand japanese in real time, Mistress. Would you like to try again?" The robot replies, nonplussed.

Not giving it a second thought, you roll and hop back to your feet, running and tackling your mother with open arms, hugging her.

"<THANK YOU THANK YOU> THANK YOU THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!" You tell her, before the rest of your mind catches up to you. "But… Uh… Wasn't Ah supposed to get good grades for this?"

>"Are you kiddin' me right now!?" She asks back, returning the hug and forcing some air out of your lungs. You don't mind though. "You just brought the gold home hun! Ah can't keep your present from you after pullin' that kinda stunt!"

"Ah can't wait to ride it!" You tell her, so giddy that you know you'd look silly if any of your classmates were here to see you. "Wait… Wednesday? Ain't that tomorrow? Ah got things planned already for tomorrow…"

>"You do?" Your mom asks, trying to hide the surprise on her voice and face, but being betrayed by her tail. "Anythin' you wanna tell your Ma about?"

"...Ahm gonna go to the spa with Momo…" You mumble, still not happy about that.

>"Oh my." She instantly replies, shifting to some measure of worry. "That's some important shindig you got there."

"Ain't too kin on the whole thing, but Ah ain't gonna leave her hangin' now." You wave it off. "But Ah bet Ah can tackle it next week!"

>"Ah'll try to get you a pass to skip classes that day then…" She says, tapping her chin with her finger and her hip with her tail. "It'd be only once though! If you don't make it first try, you'll have to wait till after final ya hear?"

"Yeah!" You tell her, hugging her again, sure of your ability to master the mechanical marvel and japanese traffic law within a week.

>"Yeah! Of course you can!" She says, giving you a last squeeze before letting go. "Now you get that to your room and Ah'll go prepare dinner."

As she walks in, with Tin helpfully opening the door and getting what looks like headpats in return, you basically run a lap around your parked bike, analyzing every detail.

>"Oh, by the way hun, catch!" Momma suddenly says, making you look up just in time to snatch the bike's keys out of the air.
>>
With that she struts back inside, looking mighty pleased with herself.

After looking at every nook and cranny of the black and white bike, you finally lay your hands on it and feel it, instantly noticing it's 400lbs of weight and the fact that the inside of your hands feels sore when using your quirk. Still, you shrink it slowly and carefully, cupping the model-sized bike at the end of the process.

Even though you spent close to five minutes prancing around the bike, you are still giddy just by holding it, barely daring caressing the paint with your fingers out of fear of scratching the paint with your wooden nails.

In fact, when you get back up to your room, you can't help yourself but to shove all your textbooks off to the wayside to make space for it on your best shelf, where you can see it after hopping off bed, the place that would normally remind you to check your backpack to see if you are truly ready for the day.

For the foreseeable future however, it'll remind you of the fact that you own a bike!

"EEE!" You squeal for what you think would be the last time, letting yourself fall backwards onto your bed. "-EEE!"

>"Are you well Mistress?" Tin asks you, picking up the fallen notebooks and placing them by the bike, noticing your glare and then keeping them a foot away from the bike. "You look and act agitated."

"AH'M FINE! AH GOT A BIKE!" You yell, trying to finally calm down."AH'M… AH…"

Thus, you breathe in, then out. Slowly.

"Ah'm fine! Just… so happy!" You reply, rolling on your bed.

>"Please be care-" Tin tries to warn you, but it's too late.

In your rolling, you get tangled in your flag themed blanket, leaving you at gravity's mercy when you reached the edge with more speed that you would have liked.

But not even kissing your carpet ruins your mood!

"Ah'm fine!" You tell the, you imagine, worried robot as you wiggle to freedom. "Just had to calm down..."

Picking yourself up, you pat your clothes to get any lint off you before calmly going to join your mother at the kitchen, only taking a tiny detour to pick up the knives Momo made for you.

You then calmly hop downstairs two steps at a time, serenely smiling from ear to ear and walking with a placid bounce in your step.

>"Oh, heya hun!" Your mother greets you again as she hears you enter the room, not looking up from the salmon she's filleting. "Ah thought you'd be in your room for a while. Hard to treat you to dinner if you cook it too!"

"Ah'm just… Grateful!" You tell her, opening the knives case and pulling the right one. "Thought Ah'd help!"

>"Well then!" She says, accepting your help. "Maybe you can learn something, we are on an island now! You gotta know how to cook some seafood!"

You have spent a couple of years by now helping her in the kitchen and cooking on your own, almost acting like a sous chef if not an equal in there. However, this time it's less of a fun chore and even more of a bonding moment, as she gives you tips and pointers for salmon that you had never even thought of, being so different from your normal, land-dwelling protein sources.

While fish and rice describes most of what you think is Japan's common diet, even you have to admit that there's a lot you can do to make them work without tasting the same over and over.

>"Now we just gotta finish the marinade and work on the rice." She tells you near the end, holding a couple of ceramic bottles, sniffing the air over them before taking a quick sip from them both. "Ah~ Quick test, Ushi. What miso should we use?"

Taking the bottles, you try the same… But they smell the same.

>"You gotta try 'em hun." She tells you, noticing your confused expression.

You may not know the difference between the bottles, but you know what they are and what they smell like. Sweet rice wine.

Both smell delicious, maybe a bit too much, so you just dip a finger in each, taking just a lick to notice that in fact, one has lost part of its sweetness, and tastes a tad closer to moonshine than it should.

"This one!" You proudly proclaim, raising the correct bottle.

>"'yuup!" She replies, ruffling up your hair and taking the other bottle from you, taking a second sip before setting it by her side.

"...Ah guess that one's a drink now?" You ask her, just a bit worried.

>"...Not for tonight, it ain't." She answers after a solid second of staring, sliding the bottle to the other side of the counter. "Now! Where were we?"

Between the two of you it's a piece of cake to do, even allowing time to make a couple of crab cakes for variety's sake.

It's an almost perfect family dinner, only marred by your Pa's ausence, but you don't blame him for it. You aren't privy to your family's finances, but he's the one paying for the roof over your head.

After dinner and your nightly routine, you go to bed.

"This is weird." You comment to no one in particular.

>"What is?" Asks Tin from somewhere in the room.

"Ah can't remember the last time Ah went to bed willingly." You tell it. "Like not fallen unconscious or anythin'"

>"It was two nights ago." Tin reminds you. "A good rest should help prevent further memory loss. For anything else, just inquire."

"...Thanks pal." You tell it, rolling your eyes in what your not-very-good ears tell you is its general direction "G'night."

Come the morning, you wake to the sun once more.

Not to the midday one however, but to the first sun rays of the morning, promising a warm and sunny spring day.

You take a second to stretch and gather your wits, hiding the morning creaking and groaning of your skeleton behind a yawn.

>"Good morning, Mistress." Tin greets you as you shake the stiffness off. "Was your rest sufficient?"

"Mornin' pal." You reply, enjoying the sun's light washing over you, feeling like it'll be a great day. "It sure was! How was yours?"

>"Non existent." It answers as usual. "However, I managed to get another 3000 moves closer to solving go."

"Hey, you are getting closer!" You tell it back with a smile, hopping off bed and towards your window, taking in the smells of spring.

Musutafu may be a rather small city in the south of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, but it's still far from home's fresh breezes, as you seemingly can't escape the pungent smell of cars' exhaust fumes.

Still, you can still smell the grass over there, almost drowned by the combined smells of the floral trees planted by the sidewalks as the flowers open under the warm sun.

Even if you were on a foul mood, it would be hard to stay not to smile.

What a beautiful day!

...And you'll spend half of it in your underwear being poked by strangers in a building somewhere, trying to sit still.

The thought of it makes you sigh in disappointment, but you can't pout for long with the sunrise in front of you.

Thus, you carefully turn away to avoid any chances of going blind, and also to pick up your sports get up, that a quick sniff confirms is still clean enough to wear.

Experience has taught you that most people can stink far worse without anyone else noticing. As far as you and your sensitive nose goes, everyone stinks, just differently.

It's a weird train of thought to carry as you dress up, but it's better than stopping to think about Tin watching you do it. At least you know it is no longer uploading to U.A. servers.

"Ah'm headin' out inna bit." You tell the robot, patting your yoga pants to make sure you have pockets to put your phone and keys in. While you can bring your phone in your cleavage if needed, you'd rather not stuff your keys in there. It hurts to even consider it. "Stay here and tell Momma when she wakes up."

>"Understood." Tin assures you, following you to the staircase but no further.

Sneaking downstairs, you just pick up a decently fresh bag of sliced bread and take a couple, broiling yourself a few texan toasts and pouring a glass of orange juice.

It's not much, but that's the idea.

In less than fifteen minutes you are outside of the house, jogging aimlessly through the still mostly empty streets, as the commuters start leaving their homes.

Unlike them, trying to get to their jobs and schools, you just enjoy some pumping music on your earbuds, waving at those who stare at you.

Some avert their sight, as you are used to seeing, but some others smile and wave back. You are fairly sure those are the ones that stare because they recognise you, instead of just liking what they were seeing.
>>
Some even cheered and extended their hands for you to high five!

Which of-hecking-course you do!

"<High Five!>" You shout, stopping by a couple of boys walking early to school with their arms up.

>"Both of them!" Says one of the boys, a kid with sideways pupils and short horns standing in a seemingly impossible angle and cradling his now sore hand.

>"I thought they'd be rougher." His friend (you guess) replies, blushing and taking a step back whenever you approach him. Cute. "They are nice."

"Wait. Both?" You stop to ask them, before leaving.

>"The other american!" The first kid answers, pointing behind himself. "Was… trotting that way."

"Oh." You say, looking straight forwards, in the direction Pony went.

You could likely catch up to her… You just aren't sure if you should.

We're in a good mood right now. No need to ruin that with the anxiety of trying to talk to someone.
