I'll throw another one in for Delinquent Isekai Quest.

I actually miss Double Cross Quest, though it was definitely a different beast after The Great Controversy.

There was that slow moving sequel to Strikers '89 ... with Ace Combat 7 on the way, I'm missing it pretty accutely.

I miss Overwatch Quest, actually. Thug Quest doesn't scratch the same itch for me, and I haven't got the availability to properly participate in Freelancer Quest.

I feel bad about losing track of Shadows of Zeon, because it meant I never sat in for Aphelion.

I'd kinda just like another Headmaster quest, I'm not going to try and tie him to any of his abandoned projects but they tend to be fun until they reach equilibrium. Lost in Da'ta's probably my favorite, I cried like a bitch.

Oh, and one for Evil Precure Quest. I mean, it had over a hundred installments, so it lived a good life, but still ...

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, I'm currently trying to catch up with Joker Quest after all.

Fucking hell, Capes of Rain City.
It was a quest set in the Worm setting, with characters and sub-setting that got more and more engaging as time went on, along with a really interesting powerset.

And then it left off at the deciding moment of a climactic fight, for what was simply supposed to be an end of "season", with what is probably one of the most genuinely beautiful cliffhangers I've ever seen.

I'm not even mad -- that ending was so well written that even if it is a cliffhanger, it works on its own, in a way.

But damn if I don't wish there'd been a second season.

I'd like to run something, but it probably won't be ESQ since I've already revealed the ending. I had a couple of other ideas:

>An open world hexcrawl fantasy rpg. Mechanics heavy, game-like instead of narrative driven. inspired by rpgs like Torchbearer. All the subsystems (magic, combat, inventory, health/status) are tightly interacting and focused on exploration and resource management.

>A merchant is accidentally teleported deep into a dungeon and is mistaken for the leader of the weakest faction vying for control. Zote quest fell off page 10 and I don't think a 2nd thread is likely. It had nice drawings but it didn't have much activity towards the end. I think it had too many mundane decisions eg: you come across a building do you a: enter the building or b: go back. Rest in peace zote quest.

There was a series of threads where you would create your own God and your God would interact with others. Some people were retarded and just kept trying to up their power, but some roleplayed the actions of their followers, neat shit, and were rewarded by the GM for it.

i quite like the first choice. biology autism is always fun to witness, and i would really love to keep some of the best elements of elf slave quest (such as the alchemy) if you do decide to come back.

I’d personally love playing some kind of alchemist that is warped into a hostile otherworld or unexplored cavesystem in a freak accident and has to learn to harness the miraculous properties of its plants and animals to escape. Something that really centers the story around the alchemy system you created in ESQ

Yep. Which is why I'm still on the fence about running again and didn't run today so as to give myself some time to think about it. It wasn't the quest itself that stressed me out, it was a notion that I might be letting my players down due to perceived drops in writing quality as the quest went on. When I was actually writing the damn thing I felt great because I didn't have to think about all that. It was the idea of sitting down to write that caused suffering, dumb as that may sound.

I'm still thinking about it. The idea I'm leaning toward most right now is the first one. The characters are easy to come up with but I don't enough about farming/agriculture to make things interesting (of course, as with alchemy-autism, all the stuff would have a healthy injection of fantastical elements which would alleviate some of the need for strict research but I still need some kind of basic knowledge to generate ideas from).

I also came up with a neat system for the hexcrawl (including a cool magic system revolving around satiation), but I don't think anyone wants to play a straight mechanical dungeon crawl. The dungeon lord thing feels a bit overplayed. Though I think I can put a twist on the old formula by using an uncommon monster as the starting mook (maybe a Floating Eye or a Fire Beetle).

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. Stay tuned. You'll know this Saturday (Feb 2) what my decision is.

It was a popularity contest for the people that frequent /qtg/. Not really indicative of the whole board. Just getting nominated by one person and getting a single vote gets you in the top 20.

Well I think much more of that would have been possible if it had gone more like a monster like the blob, rolled through and consumed a town or two, but I can't fault the players for going the opposite route and holding even more true to their humanity than before becoming a slime, and big credit to them for the self-restraint and patience to maintain as normal and upstanding a life as was generally possible.

Like the amount of care and length gone to only consuming dead bodies where available, rather than just killing and eating whenever they felt like.

Running quests is cancer, so much effort for so little reward. Eventually the existential dread overtakes you and you realize that all your writing will amount to nothing, your system is shit, and you're running out of decent ideas.

As the QM curse takes on, your writing quality is slowly lowered, you rely on cheap tricks, you fear the next player decision or roll.

It's all so tiresome.
