THANK YOU FOR YOUR PREVIOUS PARTICIPATION IN OUR SIMULATION PROGRAM!

WITH THE INFORMATION WE GATHERED FROM YOUR PREVIOUS RUNS, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE SEVERAL, VERY CRUCIAL CHANGES TO THIS SIMULATION!

HERE IS THE CHANGELOG FOR OUR NEW UPDATE:

-Changed Inventory system!

-Changed Items and their locations!

-Changed Stats command!

-Changed chance of Üb̪̻̳̉ͯ̓e̪̐͘r͕l̳̩̜̄̑ͧe̎̉̚͡b̙e̡̖̱̮͐͊͐n zu Nũ̢̯̱̈ll̬̤͘

-G̵͒eǟ̚n͍͕̳ͩ̓ͬd̺͑e̜̺̭͋ͣͭ͡r͛̐t̮͗ chance of L̻̪ͬ̿͂ͅe̾͌̚͢i̶d̨͙͉̉̈ẻ͜n̴̥̯̜ zu E͑͞į̰̄ǹ̘͟ḧ͕̝͇́́̽un͙̔de͉͋͞r̡̺ͫt

PLEASE TAKE ALL OF THESE CHANGES INTO CONSIDERATION BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THIS RUN!
THEY ARE ALL WORTH REMEMBERING IF YOU TRULY WISH FOR A PROPER FINALE!

Stereo needs power.
However, we could run music off our cellphone battery connected to the speaker....
Damn fine idea.

If possible, we could stash it I the upstairs bathroom, locking the door so that they have to bash it in to get to the source of the sound.

Well, this was a quick one.
Shoulda watched the emergency alert...
fufufu

Anyways, this is probably my last run of this quest.

It kinda feels like you're all doing the same thing over and over again and expecting that you'll win somehow.

And thats not fun.
And I'd never let that happen :)

Anyways here's the shameless self plug stuff.

https://www.deviantart.com/gumby-chan

https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=28231674

And I'm sure you guys have questions and whatnot so I'll be monitoring the thread through out the day.

Thanks for playing/reading again!
We'll get em next time.

>It kinda feels like you're all doing the same thing over and over again and expecting that you'll win somehow.

We started pretty good with first thread. Until someone decides to barricade kitchen windows... It was so frustrating
Second went even better we actually secured room and have half decent fight. Problem were skills and attributes for the run.
We couldn't fight at all and didn't have enough time to prepare.
This one I dont have fucking idea. People voted for watching news, picking up phones, calling to brother...
The only good idea in this thread is this >>3246730
So it would die early

>So it would die early

This is going to make me sound like a dickhead with a huge ego, but I feel like I kind of have to mention some stuff that made it not fun for me or for you guys this thread.
And I need to shoot out some insults so I can carry on with my day without throat punching my room mate on accident.

So you picked the hardest difficulty.
Sweet.
I liked that, that's what I was hoping for you to do since "Hard" would just be like every other thread and "Gumby" would actually make it a bit more challenging for people who have played the first two.

I was fairly confident that since you had two other threads to prepare with, you'd win this one easily if I ran it like normal.

So Gumby was a good choice.
And I was excited to throw some new stuff in to make it challenging. Like the phone calls. And the power going out an hour earlier than it should.
It was gonna be great.

Then everyone disappeared.

Just letting one or two people who haven't played before make the decisions.

Really the only times I saw players who had played in the first two threads was when they were complaining about the choices and the vote.
While at the same time not voting for any decisions themselves.

Needless to say, it was a little frustrating from my perspective.

Near the end people started getting their shit together(I guess people started noticing the thread), but the overwhelming majority already wanted to give up since this run was "fucked beyond repair"

It was pathetic.

And kind of insulting.

I mean, I decided against my better judgement to fix up the script and make a 3.0, make some new drawings and gifs, change the items and inventory system, etc... when I was originally never going to run it again.

Then I spent six hours of my time running it only for people to say, "meh, this run sucked let's just die so we can try it again some other time."
...
Kind of frustrating.

And I was honestly considering just bailing at a few points haha..

It was just that annoying to watch/write for.

But that's not how you guys normally are.
I hope you don't think I think that badly of you.

You've always put up a fight when I gave you a challenge.
It's great! Just look at the last quest I ran. Or the first two threads of this one!

But I saw no real fight last night.
None.

And to all of you who actually did try, and pushed forward despite the stupid shit, thank you
Because I woulda dropped this thing like it was hot if you didn't stick around.

I'm not planning on running this again. It just isn't going in a good direction, and more importantly it isn't fun for you guys. And it isn't fun for me.

I'm 7 pages into the script for my next CYOA. I expect to have it done in a couple months.

Until then, you can find me running my old quest on akun. And on my blogs posting shitty memes.

I linked the other two threads in the OP and this is called CYOA sim 3.0

The first post includes an update log and thanks you for playing previously.

I don't think I could make it any clearer that this is a sequel without just writing
"THIS IS A SEQUEL"
in the OP

And everyone can play and vote. Even people who have no idea what they're doing

But do you think I'd choose the person who votes to suck their own dick or the person who votes to do something worth while?

You can't blame them when no one with an actual plan is voting.
I'm just forced to do what the other person suggests or the thread dies.

This is frustrating, but it happens. It's worst when the good players get drawn away and one idjit mucks things up.
Nothing really can be done to prevent it.

>complaining about the choices and the vote.
>While at the same time not voting for any decisions themselves.
This is asinine and we are correct to be aggravated by it.

>this run sucked let's just die so we can try it again some other time
This is pathetic shit and taking the QM totally for granted. I don't blame you for being disgruntled.

As far as saving them all, it occurred to me that causing large amounts of damage to our infected family probably won't save them.
My plan has been to avoid, hide, and run from them. Up to and including hiding under the blanket with headphones and plushie frog.
I don't.

Also, the announcement clearly states not to talk to anyone.
So, of course, every run we call everyone. Oye.

Thanks for understanding. I was(and still am) kinda worried I got a little too high off my own farts.
It definitely salted me a lot more than it should have, to say the least.

>As far as saving them all, it occurred to me that causing large amounts of damage to our infected family probably won't save them.

The whole "they can all be saved" is a classic ruse.
The only way "they can all be saved" is by never running the simulation in the first place.
The simulation requires them to be lost.
The only way no one dies is if it's never run in the first place.

Yeah, it's a bit of a cop out, I know. But it made sense when I was writting it.

Making you think you could actually save someone when I knew you couldn't filled me with joy and wild abandonment :)

In other news, I think I might retire after this thread.
I have a bunch of scripts and ideas(that I've been sitting on since I came out one), but I just haven't felt like/had the time to expand on anything for a week or two now.

Side note: Yeah, I know I just made one, but I was seriously forcing myself by the end of it. Now I'm just dead inside. Thanks guys.

And I have a ton of stuff to do irl and my friends and my girl certainly don't appreciate me spending every friday night "taking care of school stuff"
Running quests

So this might be my last thread on this board for a while.
I am as fickle as the weather when it comes to this stuff, but I think burnout might finally be catching up to me.

We'll have to wait and see. I'll run the rest of my old quest over on akun, and, hopefully, by then, I'll get back in the mood for writing, and I'll be able to find more time to do it.

I love you suffering masochists. But I'm not gonna force myself to make something.

That'd just make it shitty.

And my quests are already shitty enough haha.

So consider me on hiatus for now lmao.
I'll keep you updated, and if you need a taste of Gumby, just go to akun and I'll post my last two quests there this weekend/next weekend?
Maybe?
Probably.

Anyways, that's it for your Gumby update of the day.
Peace.
>>
>>3255238

Well color me disappointed.

Before I read this I was going to write up a big post from the last time I checked the thread but didn't have any time. In short, I thought the problem with this thread was that anons were 'stupid' enough to pick the hardest difficulty and then later the thread became less active due to a combination of frustration and timezones/schedules, and we got stuck with a guy who just got us killed off early by saying fuckit for the group. But you know, when I think about It, that was your fault too Gumby. You're the QM, and you have the power the let the vote just fucking *sit* if you wanted to but you dived right In and obliged them with a shit ending. Hell, you could have just had them run to the front door and had us get a glimpse of what was out the window just to NOPE away, causing a time loss while the character panicked and giving us a chance to rethink effective suicide.

So now, reading this I see that not only was the game a sham but because you've gotten disappointed with the results *You helped cause* you're noping off /qst/ to get some milk at the corner store, and we might see you In six years.

Don't get me wrong you have no obligation to do this shit for us, but the way you're leaving It just leaves a bad taste In my mouth. Hell, the fact that now I've learned that Simulator only has one ending and we only choose the flavor of It just makes me not want to play It even If you make 4.0

Now listen, I loved 2.0 and Sacrifice but I like to play games I can win and quests and can Influence In some capacity and apparently this Isn't either. I might bother to play something else you make but I won't be back for 4.0 If It ever exists.

And finally, stop with the self depreciation saying that your quests are 'already shitty'. I can't tell If you enjoy bashing yourself publicly It'd fit the profile or If you're fishing for complements. Either way stop It you should know how bullshit It Is.

Look, you did a thing on 4chan and entertained us and that's great, but If you want to be kill because you have a life or this isn't fun anymore don't throw away the respect I have for you yeah? You don't have to justify your decision, and you don't have to self depreciate.

*Sigh* Until next time, If there Is a next time. Ciao Gumby.

Heya
Good to see you :)
I won’t lie, your post tilts me a bit. I guess that’s because I value your opinion more than other random anons. So I’m gonna try my best to talk through all of this and not start a shitshow.
No promises though.

>>3255878
>we got stuck with a guy who just got us killed off early by saying fuckit for the group.

That’s not true. You didn’t get stuck with one person. A majority of the replies that I got were to give up.

I’d never take one guys suicidal tendencies to end a quest.
By the end of the thread everyone who was voting wanted to end the run.

It wasn’t just one person.

>>3255878
>when I think about It, that was your fault too Gumby

I completely disagree. I only went with the majority vote. I ran it exactly as I always have. Etc, etc
It’s not my fault that people wanted to give up. I can’t control that, I can only take a vote and see where it leads us.

This is actually what tilts me the most about your post.
Somehow this is my fault?

I just don’t get it. I only took your guys orders, never railroaded, never cheated, and I played it totally fair.

Well as fair as I can :)

When I make a mistake, I’m more than willing to own up to it. (My daddy raised me right lel)

Just check out Delirium if you don’t believe me.

I admitted it.
And I changed.

This time I didn’t fuck up. I seriously believe I didn’t .

>You're the QM, and you have the power the let the vote just fucking *sit* if you wanted to but you dived right In and obliged them with a shit ending.

What are you babbling about? If I let the vote go on for longer than an hour I could kill the thread.
And for fucksake I went to the grocery store and came back and you guys still hadn’t changed the vote from kill yourself!

And even before that, I went to bed for 10 hours and still no one had come up with or acted upon a plan.

What do you want me to do? Make a plan myself? I seriously don’t get what you’re on about. After a reasonable amount of time, I took the vote and moved on, like every quest I run.

I gave you chances and plenty of time on top of that.
Most of you guys didn’t use it or didn’t vote at all. And you can’t blame me for keeping the thread moving.
....Well you can, I guess
But I’d say you’re wrong

>>3255878
>Hell, you could have just had them run to the front door and had us get a glimpse of what was out the window just to NOPE away, causing a time loss while the character panicked and giving us a chance to rethink effective suicide.

You had plenty of opportunities to rethink suicide. As for not spooking you into a different mindset(lmao) there was still an hour or more left. I’m not going to show you a spook that doesn’t make sense.

You had the phone calls. The power cut. The tv blasted an emergency alert. And you had two other threads big hoss!

If you think that everything is cool and don’t feel any sense of panic, I don’t know what to tell ya. That’s as much foreshadowing as I can give you hahah
>>
>>3256627
>So now, reading this I see that not only was the game a sham but because you've gotten disappointed with the results *You helped cause* you're noping off /qst/ to get some milk at the corner store, and we might see you In six years.

... it’s not a sham. There were ways to win, and I’ll talk about it in a sec.

And I didn’t help cause shit. I’d have taken responsibility for this mess if I had.

And this one thread has little to nothing to do with me leaving.

I didn’t have fun, yes(and nobody else did)
But I also haven’t wanted to write in a while. And my life is ramping up too.

I coulda sworn I explained this in my last post... well whatever.

I’m pretty disgusted you think that one bad run would make me leave. Trust me, I’ve had my fill of bad runs, and unlike this one, some were even my fault :)

>Don't get me wrong you have no obligation to do this shit for us

Well at least we found some common ground

>Hell, the fact that now I've learned that Simulator only has one ending and we only choose the flavor of It just makes me not want to play

Again, not exactly true. I wrote out a good end.

>I like to play games I can win and quests and can Influence In some capacity and apparently this Isn't either

You actually have the most influence in this quest compared to any of my other quests.
This quest is more open than my mother’s legs, you feel me? haha.

>but I won't be back for 4.0

Well, luckily for you, you won’t have to worry about that ever happening.

>And finally, stop with the self depreciation saying that your quests are 'already shitty'. I can't tell If you enjoy bashing yourself publicly It'd fit the profile or If you're fishing for complements. Either way stop It you should know how bullshit It Is.

I’m surprised you took it that way. Does it really look like that? I just wanted to show some humility after getting so ego filled. (And I’ll have to do it again at this rate)

And objectively speaking this quest was shitty.
And my other quests aren’t god tier either.

I don’t /actually/ think they’re all shitty senpai, but I do know where I’m at.

It was just a little humor to lighten this whole thing up.
Everyone is mad, and so am I.
So at least let me have the chance to humble myself on the way out haha.

>but If you want to be kill because you have a life or this isn't fun anymore don't throw away the respect I have for you yeah? You don't have to justify your decision, and you don't have to self depreciate.

I completely agree. I should have gone silently into this night.
I’d hate to explain my reasoning or let everyone know why I was going before I left.
Ghosting you guys would have been much easier.

This is all sarcasm by the way. That’s really dumb and cowardly. And we already have enough cowards on this thread :)

And that wraps up the defensive and angry spamming from me

I guess I just don’t get it.
Maybe I misinterpreted everything you said, but honestly, I think you’re wrong here.

I appreciate your support and your respect, but you seriously did tilt me hahah, and I know this response will tilt you too.
So if you never want to participate or read another one of my quests after this hiatus then I get it, but I want you to know, I had to say my piece.

There was no other way.

So anyways, thanks for the response. I hope you can see where I’m coming from. I know I sound salty, and that’s because I am.

For me that's the biggest problem, time. One when its starts, here not much to be done difrent timzones fucks people participetion up. How long it takes you to take votes and write updates. This thread something around 15 minutes betwen posts. Let them seat for 1-2 hours at least, go to sleep and write uptade. I dont know what reality you live but i promise you people easily would jump back into thread after day or two of complete silence from your side. This type of quest demands anons to create plan and communicate between each other, to agree on something. 15 minutes is not enough.

Even if they do agree and go with the plan if this guys are missing for 15 minutes someone can come and fuck it up by BARRICADING KITCHEN FUCKING WINDOWS!1!!!

Look senpai, you posted, got one vote, an hour passed and you took It and killed the game. Before that there were several votes and plans. Furthermore, If you want to talk about time being an issue Sacrifice went on for *days* until It ended, so you wouldn't 'kill a thread' by letting a vote extend. Happens all the time In other quests. Also, there was someone voting to give up after the fact but *before* that vote the only other people 'giving up' were an anon suggesting 'This thread might as well be lost', but wasn't actually throwing In the towel and another suggesting that the 'next one' might be fucked from player stupidity all the same (I have similar feelings all the time, It's common for players to hate players) and one guy stating that 'this is why I just lurk gumby threads'. So In reality, while there was PLENTY of pessimism, only one of them threw In the towel. Yes Gumby, I think you overreacted. You could have walked away/gone to bed and let the other anons file In to tell them to fuck off. Time/scheduling Is an issue for us all.

About the self depreciation, well It's good to know you were trying to joke but yeah that's exactly what It looked like.

Ghosting out? No my dude I wasn't suggesting you should have done that that's for bastards and cowards to do, I was suggesting that I thought you were leaving because you were disappointed and you were giving yourself a kick on the way out the door and I was calling you out on It. Again, I'm glad that was just your attempt at humor, but as we both know tone doesn't carry terribly well over text.

So yeah, you say this thread doesn't have anything to do with you leaving but It does look like It desu.

As for Simulator being 'unwinnable' and you stating that leaving the simulation by 'winning' only leaves the vessel to die his predetermined death feels like a hollow victory, though I suppose that's the point according to you. I can't tell you how to make your quests but I know how utterly infinitely satisfying Sacrifice felt In comparison. Even though we doomed the entire world To Simulator, likely It was all worth It because despite EVERYTHING else horrible that happened we managed to protect ONE little girl's smile, and It felt like we accomplished something Important.

Alright, after some mind numbing classes and a beer, I'll be the first to say that my rant didn't age well in these past couple hours haha.

I think I mistook your disappointment and confusion for hositility, and thus assumed everything you were saying was an attack.
And that's why I went full defense mode
full bitch mode

I'm not saying that I disagree with the points I made, I think the rage and anger was...kinda unjustified, and definitely looked a lot better when I was mad.

Anyways, with that out of the way, I think we should have an actual discussion rather than me just flinging shit haha..

This type of quest demands anons to create plan and communicate between each other, to agree on something. 15 minutes is not enough.

I agree for the most part.
But with the way I'm living right now, I can't put an hour or two in between posts. I don't have enough free time to make that happen.

Also, I feel like that's part of the quest itself.

You're on a time crunch. You have to think of something quickly(Or you gonna die), and I knew people who played before already had a plan in mind that they'd probably set in action immediately.

There's the whole "keeping the thread moving" thing too, but that also has to do with how much time I have to run.

To me, the 15 or so minutes between posts made sense for my schedule and for the theme of the quest.(And I had done it for the other two)

But I wouldn't mind increasing it to 45 or so minutes so people can collect themselves and so I don't run out of time to QM

>>3256766
>Sacrifice went on for *days* until It ended, so you wouldn't 'kill a thread' by letting a vote extend
You're right. I should have left it open longer. It was just a slow one this time, so I wanted to keep the ball rolling.
And since I had done the same thing with voting(15 minutes or so) last time I ran this, I assumed it'd work out.

It didn't.

>>3256766
>So In reality, while there was PLENTY of pessimism, only one of them threw In the towel. Yes Gumby, I think you overreacted.

Again, I agree. I think the pessimism and the fact that it was so slow made me a lot more frustrated than I should have been.
There were a lot of people complaining, but they didn't all give up. It just seemed like it to me at the time.

The atmosphere got to me lmao.

I sorta just honed in on the bad stuff and never really looked for anything else.

Which made me kinda butthurt.

>>3256766

I did. And when I came back, two posts in I got told that the run was kill and we should go streaking outside.

And this thread didn't help haha...

>As for Simulator being 'unwinnable' and you stating that leaving the simulation by 'winning' only leaves the vessel to die his predetermined death feels like a hollow victory, though I suppose that's the point according to you.

Yep, that's the point. You shouldn't feel good.
It's a suffering simulator after all.

>Even though we doomed the entire world To Simulator, likely It was all worth It because despite EVERYTHING else horrible that happened we managed to protect ONE little girl's smile, and It felt like we accomplished something Important.

I'm glad it felt nice to destroy the world in Sacrifice, but this end was supposed to make you feel empty.
Like you didn't win a thing.

A hollow victory as you put it.

You didn't save anyone.

You just stop a horrible simulation.

How's that for satisfying :)

Sorry Gumby, I was one of the few who were already planning for the next go at it. (The start got me while I was sleeping). Throwing out ideas and the like for the next un where we would finally beat it. Feels bad to make you feel that way. You are one the more distinctive QMs we have on this site, and it pains me you grew tired of it on top of all your life stuff.

Passing on to more happy stuff, would the neutral ending (getting the hell out of the town with our sister) be improved if we stole Mom´s jewels or earnings or whatever before getting th ehell out? Enough to get ourselves some sort of course to access a better paying job or soething like that, maybe get our sister something to do with her hands while she is at home, so she doesn´t feel useless. While I´m sure you would have made it for our mom to be the sacrifice instead or some shit, I don´t particularly care. That scum offered her own daughter as sacrifice.

How. dare. you.

Just playin. I was pissed about that stuff earlier but it makes a lot more sense now that I've had time to cool off after exploding lmao. It was a little disrespectful, I guess, but I overreacted hard too

Thank you, but I'm not dead yet!

I think I just need a break is all. I hope at least.

I just spread myself too thin and need some time to get things straightened out again.

It's not like it's impossible now for me to write quests or draw, it's just I haven't felt like doing it for a while, and I have a lot of shit going on in real life.

IRL shit has never stopped me before!

...but I don't want to force myself to write something like a quest.

That'll certainly lead to a shitshow.

I only want to write when it feels right, ya dig it?

Anyways, if I'm not back to writing in like 2-3 weeks then you should starting writing my obituary haha.

Nah.
That stuff wouldn't last long enough to make a huge difference.
You'd still be stuck out on the lamb and have to get a shitty job to continue surviving.

Haha. Maybe? I mean, I wouldn't write that in the ending persay, but I guess you could have.

Life goes on for those poor kids, so I'm sure eventually your character would do something sweet for her.
She has years to try anyways :)

But anyways, you're still gonna end up living in poverty with your blind sister for the rest of your days until your mom comes for you.

It's... no good end, you feel?

It's a temporary solution to a much, much larger problem.

Nah.
I wouldn't do that because you'd probably want that haha. It'd only make things easier.

You're mom's a pretty terrible person.
Someone you thought you knew and loved but betrayed her own blood.

So, of course I wouldn't make her the sacrifice.
You'd just have an even better ending if I did that :)
