"Gracious Allmother, Endure, Endure the parasites who ravage your sickly body. In time, Your true sons and daughters will reclaim what is all yours." Archdeacon of the Kiln.

Welcome, Curious friends!

What else is more enticing other than exploring unknown vast seas of a mechanical goddess as a sea captain? Nothing , i wager! Hunt, Trade, Steal, kill. Consume delicious cogs, the world is yours!

The sea and the powers that governs her are mostly uncaring at best. A Scrawny fugitive, A Peerless Prince...all are at the mercy of the sea. Your sea captains will probably die whether from a string of horrible choices or plain old bad luck. You are a fragile little thing (Most of the time). Keep that in mind.

Alas, Our last captain has perished beneath the waves. Another shall surrender one's fate to us. Choose a sea captain to start our journey

Bombastic Privateer

The infernal seas of Myrt are such a bore, your native water are too tamed for your standards. It is time to cross the fissure into more dangerous waters...

That and you have a fleeting sister to kill.

3/10 Eye : You are not the most insightful
2/10 Mind : You are too brash to wait and think
6/10 Heart : Kill'em before they can touch you
8/10 Sea-Blood: You would have been dead long ago without it.

Objective: Finish off the last member of your family. Obtain your sister's banner

On her trail

Cunning tramp, you almost had her near the fissure. She outplayed you by dropping barrels of Infernal leeches in the cold water. Even by your low, low standards, it would be nothing short of a suicide to waddle through this short-lived patches of Ship-gnawing leeches. You will have to wait for them to disperse. Curses.

Your beautiful ship, the Albatross, has taken some woeful hits during this last kerfuffle. You...huh..you are bleeding actually. Strange, Is that a slash through your abdomen? Right, right you attempted to board her ship by flying there alone; too hotheaded to remain still. Her first mate was quite a brute, an acceptable trade for his life. You don't remember flying back to your ship though, maybe this your surgeon's doing? She's something fierce. Nothing a good bottle of spirits won't fix.

You have gained an affliction: Injury (0->2, a more serious wound, if left untreated, it will be the end of you)

Everything is riddled with holes around you, some corpses on the floor mired in their blood and piss . She has really done a good job on your ship. How about getting your bearings first?

Justified Fury

"Insolent Cur!" a powerful slap on the face almost knocked you on the messy floor as you entered the chaotic sick bay "How many times do i have to save your hide? How many times do i have gain yet another scar for it?! Another reminder?!"

On rolls...

The Mighty d100 shall be our method of dictating fortunes. Re-rolls depends on the stat itself...how strong/weak it is.

0 One Roll
1-3 Two Rolls
4-5 Three Rolls
6-8 Four Rolls
9-10 Five Rolls

Having officers can give extra rolls to a certain Stat. Negative stats will incur a penalty (-1= -10, -2=-20 and so on...)
____________________________________________________________________
On stats...

Life is never simple under Kyth. Each captain is governed by a set of stats that alter his/her playstyle. They can be increased (or decreased) via various means throughout his/her journey. They are:

Teeth: Your might, your efficiency in combat and other related encounters
Tongue : Your way with words, affects various interactions and the morale/obedience of your crew
Eye : Your perception, Reveal the hidden and the unknown.
Mind : Your overall knowledge of the world and your critical thinking
Heart : Your body, how much can it endure, how long can it keep up with different situations
Sea-Blood: Your fortune in the sea among other hidden aspects.
__________________________________
On Challenges.....

Any Sea captain is bound to face adversity in their path of greatness. Challenges vary in difficulty according to the captain's stats.
Red Challenges are the most difficult to conquer
Blue Challenges are more manageable
Green Challenges are trivial
Note: Difficulty does not equate to the most optimal choice. It is up to you to choose what is the most profitable and beneficial for your sea captain. Sometimes a rare event will occur (bad or good), its prevalence is tied to the Sea-blood stat

Alive

You burst into your cabin, a sigh of relief has escaped your lips as you found your guardian alive and well without a single scratch. Guardians protects any ship from the constant distortion in the seas of Kyth commonly known as time dilation where a single Sea-day can stretch to days, weeks or even months. A strange concept to be sure; in your home waters, The heart of Myrt is the sole ruling divine over her body. Oh well, you have to abide to these convoluted rules.

On Old and New Gods....

The divines can not really perish, Their essence is often fragmented unequally. All shall form what was whole eventually. Such is their nature.

There are four (five) gods of the sea, they are:

Kyth : Although the goddess of Glass and Obsidian is dead. She is still worshiped as a whole, she has no real power to project. Her Manifestation only exists in a pitiful state.

Skull : He who governs gentle tides and smooth sailings, He bears no ill towards the children of the sea. Calm, Benevolent and Cautious, Skull is the least destructive of the gods. Scholars, Sailors and many more seek his wisdom. His ire is to be avoided; gentleness is not a sign of weakness...

Cage : Vacuous, Mournful, Yearning for what she used to shelter and protect. Cage Governs time in the sea. She is the most unpredictable, Almost all of her undoings are yet another mistake. She is the strongest of all gods but she often misuse her authority unwillingly. Madmen and some barely intelligent creatures are often her worshipers with absolute variance in power.

Spine : Order, Just, Righteousness. These words defines the goddess of authority. She governs the unspoken laws of the sea, often bickering with other gods of what should be and should have been (especially Knee) She is hard to please and quick to anger. Spine despises change, Her agents will hunt down any who dare to bend her laws. Traders, Law and power figures follow her words. They are equally rewarded.

Knee : Chaos, Bloodshed, Suffering. Knee revels in the innate cruelty of the sea. The corpse of Kyth is her battlefield. She will not rest until everyone is dead. As such, she is the most destructive of the gods. Extremely easy to please and anger. Soldiers of fortune, pirates and the bloodthirsty kill and pillage for her pleasure

Alright I finally caught up and got to say this beautiful quest is a recurring catastrophe of retarded 180 degree out of character decisions with every single captain.
I was particularly disappointed with how the gentle giant story ended, there wasn't a reason for that choice.

Here's to hoping that choices will be more consistent this time around.

I would very much like to play the glass bastard next (even though it will likely end quick) and it would satisfy the more simple-minded, bloody-hungry anons too. Been eyeing this option since its introduction.

Slithering gratitude

"Much a obliged." It nodded towards before having its fill. Your guardian was kind enough to limit its secretions to the minimal; blood, piss and giblets mixing with bubbling tar is never a good idea. It returned a few minutes later, hoisting two notable bulges.

"I sssssleeep, do not disturb for tar." The Tar snake coiled around itself for that most comfortable position, probably dreaming about manly snakes or whoever it fancies.

That takes care of that. Ah, this faceless fellow wouldnt mind a sip or two from his hip flask, no?

Much, MUCH better. An old salt was limping towards you with his near toothless smile "Captain! Myrt be praised! You just wouldn't die, won't you?"

You gave the old devil bastard the rest of flask. He's been serving your father but he shifted loyalty after you had killed him. He is happy to be yet another nameless crewman in your ship "We lost two wenches, Captain. The insect twins."

You groaned , cursing your sister. why them? The Kerkit ladies have been a staple in the Albatross for a while. At least the rest are still breathing.

You ordered the old timer to come back with a report and a good bottle of spirits. Myrt, you need more of that.

A report

The senile (but relatively healthy) devil has a lot to say upon his return. He better speak clearly, you are sometimes on the slow side

The Albatross (small ship)

A lightly armoured infernal ship originally built to sail in the molten waters of the crater where the devil call it home. Fast and nimble, it relies on both cloaking and hit-and-run tactics. A direct confrontation will often be costly. It has two powerful front weapons, a beacon weapon and an aft station for non combative purposes.

Hull: 150/150
Crew: 32/40
Wenches: 8/10
Supplies: 12
Hellfire: 10
Cargo: 15/50
Pages: x3 Obscuring Pages
Guardian: Debating Tar-Snake
Dilation: 3/50 (Your body is intact and safe.)
Madness: 20/50 (Your mind is intact and safe)
Weapons slots: 2 front weapon (occupied), 1 aft station (occupied), 1 beacon weapon (occupied)
Skins: 1500

Equipment

Engine: V'gh'll
- A sentient engine from the incomprehensible depth of Myrt
-Small in size, doesn't require any crew for full speed
-Very high speed, can be fed with Hellfire or wrathful pages
-Very high consumption, very likely to overheats.
- Devil Crewmen in the engine room will be enveloped with a cloak of Hellfire adding +10 bonus during combat.

Front weapon 1 : Gatursn ( 30-50 Damage vs Beast, 20-40 Damage vs Ship)
-A Sizable Harpoon cannon
-Mainly used to either pin down a larger beast or to cripple ships while cloaking
-If it missed the target, it will take a considerable time to reload

Front weapon 2: Q'Knxx ( 1 supplies per use. 20-30 Damage vs beast , 50-60 damage vs ship)
-A hellish giant parasite which has taken the Albatross as a host
-Will whip out a tongue full of blistering worms and diseases upon being properly fed causing total mayhem on enemy ships
-If the tongue landed on their cargo hold, It will siphon whatever it can back to the Albatross. Any goods or treasures that can survive its gastric bile will be yours.

Beacon weapon: Guise of Manee (x1 obscuring page per use)
- A pole which cloaks the ship for a limiting period of time
-Any action other than sailing will result in decloaking

Aft station: Verminian assemblers
- A band of Tiny Ratfolks crammed together
-Can repair your ship more efficiently, strip weapons and parts of other ships (or repair enemy ships for you to reclaim them)
-Will mostly require cheese (supplies) for their services.

Cargo [15/50]
- x10 Hellfire
- x12 supplies
- x3 Obscuring pages

On the horrors of the sea...
The Sea, has nothing natural about it. It is the flowing blood of a dead mechanical goddess. Madness will plague the minds of you and crew the further you stay away from land fighting sea beast, delving into the unthinkable etc. Lower your madness by returning to ports and other relaxing interactions. Don't Lose your mind.

Dilation is how the sea alters your body. It has very slow buildup compared to madness. Time works differently in the sea...a constant state of Dilation that can turn a single Sea day to a full week on land, maybe more. A ship's Guardian negates most of said alterations but not all of them. To undo the effects of Dilation, Rewind your body via Time-menders who are commonly found in ports or find a Time Splinter across the sea. Don't Lose your body.

________________________________________________________________

On Seafaring...

There are three important resources for any capable sea captain:

Fuel (or its equivalent) : The first choice for most roaring engines. Going at normal speed will increase the chance for different encounters across the sea, Full speed decrease the chance but consumes more fuel and make engine prone to overheating.

Supplies : For the empty bullies of everyone aboard, more crew means more supplies used. It has other uses too according to the present circumstance.

Crew : The working force of any ship , they can board other ships if given the command. Fewer crew means a slower, more vulnerable ship

>>3258678
>>3258682

Originally from Myrt , it can be bought from certain shops across the sea (at a higher price). The proper pirate's way is to loot and steal from other similar ships.
Wrathful page is more expensive but a more common alternative.

Old Glory

Long ago, where outlaws like you were squabbling over scraps in the sea. An ashen legend came from the outside world with a ship full of special skin of another dead goddess. He mired all of them with his blood for it to follow his pirate creed, because of that single reason, it loses its power when held by authorities or non-pirates.

Unlike the skin of Kyth, this skin had immense power in it, ... one that dwarfed that of literary pages. It could grow on its own only if it is associated with someone like you.

The nameless legend used this power to reunite all pirates under a powerful banner. A true pirate king to rule all the seas. That was until his untimely death. His banner was torn apart by the ten pirate princes, each went on their separate ways.

Every respectable pirate ought to have at least a banner or more.
Nowadays, Piracy is struggling to exist, A shadow of its former self. You had two other banners, that of your father and that once lover. Having banners will increase your Might : an unspoken understanding between pirates and sometimes other figures.

You could further increase your might by merging other banners to your own or you could leave them to get accustomed to your ship, so they can reveal the hidden powers within them.

The Albatross Banner
Might: 3
Power: Cloaking lasts for a longer period of time, 1.5x damage dealt when decloaking

Your father's Banner
Might worth (if merged) : 5
Power: unknown

Your once-lover's Banner

Power: Each repair to the hull will have +1 extra hull point repair as well

On Oddities and Afflictions...

The sea has its shares of mysteries and secrets, some may not be grasped by hands. Stories, tales, visions and many more are all oddities . They can be used for more peculiar trading, unlocking unseen paths to progress and so on. Some of them can be traded with an officer for a better teeth, eye, mind...etc.

Afflictions are all sorts of harm bestowed upon you. Most can be simply dispelled by resting, others require a different approach, few are permanent. Some Afflictions may increase on their own if left untreated.

Mind the Sea, captain. Have enough physical afflictions and your body will hold you no more. Have enough mental afflictions and your mind will belong to Cage.

_______________________________________________________________

On Occurrences, Perils and Boons

Occurrences are simply events that happens whether you had something to do with it or not. Revisiting ports might start a new set of occurrences.

Perils are the looming dangers of the sea. Not an immediate threat. It will alters events and individuals against you. Some can be countered, Others not so much

Boons are blissful events of the sea, a beacon to cling to in the darkest of times. Almost exclusively related to the gods of the sea favoring you but there are other sources of boons to consider across the sea.

You can't ask more of them. You go a little rough of the crew sometimes but they understand how incompetent and brash you are. Serial killers, rapists , cannibals, child killers...you have them all, it is like a twisted collections of misfits who got no where else to go. You have fed morality (and common sense) to the fishes long ago. As long as they fellow your lead, you got no problem with them. Well, except Men of stone; you absolutely HATE the walking statues, too lifeless for your taste.

On the prowl

7th of June, 1802

SD-1 (Sea day): You know your sister too well, She would stick to the North/East; she is too smart to approach Thernni water, where their glorified whore of a Matriarch would obliterate any foolish pirate with her iron navy. You ought to steer away as well. She'll have to dock somewhere for more serious repairs...

SD-2 : A large Naval ship was sailing to the crater via the fissure. You were too much of a hassle to be dealt with. This will soon change...

SD-3 : Another crewman has lost a finger in a bet, Instead of taking it like a man, he kept pestering your lovely practitioner. You forbade her from doing so. Let it be a lesson to him.

Drowned

"Captain!" One of your men yelled " Look, a little breather!" You saw the aftermath of a transport ship torn part fairly recently. The shadow of the beast responsible still lurks down below. A small child (hard to tell whether they are a boy or a girl) clutches to something of note refusing to let it go... It clearly wasn't help them to stay afloat. Their bleached skin is bloated and pale, lifeless even . The water around them is all muddy and black. They seem to ignore the laughs of your crew.

One by one, the lurking beast drags the floating corpses to heartless depths. When it was the child's turn, The giant tendril hesitated by a moment choosing to retreat silently away from them.

The Humm child stared at you with his emerald eyes unshaken by their current ordeal, not moving a single limb towards the safety of the Albatross. Not that you would let them go aboard; they are better off drowning rather than...well, you can't exactly control your crew with a child around.

The sole bleeding heart in the ship had yellowish fire escaping from the corners of her mouth, screaming at you "What are you waiting for? Save the little urchin already!"

The Truth below

You managed to pull the child out of the half frozen waters only to find him clutching to a withering mass that you may call a rotten heart, still beating outside of their body which had a gaping hole spilling an ominous black fluid.

A mouth opened, dark whispers seeping to your ear "Unnatural, Unborn...bring her heart to Knee's Scorn."

Unlikely rescue

This better be worth it. You carried the unnatural child back to the Albatross. Her unsettling aura and the darkness bleeding from the cavity in her chest had perturbed even the worst of your degenerate crew. You know for a fact that she shall remain untouched.

"Oh my..." Your practitioner gasped. She was not counting for you to bring a darkspawn. The child didn't flinch, didn't react to the shivering gazes around her. "Come child, you are safe with me. Come."

Surprisingly enough, the accursed child raised her hand to your surgeon who took her to the sickbay. She always had her way with children. You tasked two of your men to accompany them; there is no telling what this... thing is capable of. You have no qualms in ending her life if she ever so touched a single strand of your surgeon's flaxen hair.

Now, you wait.

SD-5 : You are starting to miss the infernal sea. This new world feels off, too cold for taste. The child is faring well under your surgeon's skillful hands, her embered blood has restored some fairness in her rubbery skin but the gaping still persists. She is still preferring silence and seclusion over your debauched crew . You gave them a warning not to get too close for their own sake. Hidden Cache

A white banner had shimmered in the horizon. A hidden vessel has revealed herself when the Albatross was nearby. It was an old custom to leave ships like these for those who are in need. The rules were simple back then: Take whatever you want but either refill the vessel or bear an indebted scar till you can pay this pirate's debt.

The following was inside:

-5 soul crates
-5 fuel
-5 supplies
-5 Hellfire
-500 skins

The moment you broke down the door, a great sense of unease has overwhelmed you. You can't shake the feeling of newly born hostility within these decrepit walls.

You have gained an occurrence: White Vessel ( Shunned. You have violated the unspoken rules of the hidden pirate vessels. You are no longer welcomed. )

Barring that matter, you happened upon a small stage, claimed by dust and cobwebs. Something fancy enough for the likes of you. The cushioned seat had skeletal remains of pirates from a bygone era, all chained up. Why were they forced to sit here?

The answer came right away, the horrible, horrible music plagued your senses. Fiery blood started to trickle from your ears.

You have gained x5 madness (total 30/50)

You almost lost your balance during this 'performance' by yet another dastardly child. What in the blazes? Myrt below, Why do you have to chance upon overgrown vermin?

This one looked miserable despite the cheerful hums his lipless mouth uttered. You can tell he is trying to better his dissonant melodies. How long has he been locked inside?

He hides his monstrous visage under a pathetic wooden mask bearing a smile that he will never possess, his flayed flesh is beyond rotten. A mixture of fur and wooden roots were randomly sprouting from the many holes dotting his malformed body. It seems that he is desperately seeking the approval of his long dead audience.

Mmmmmm, Damn this woman, swaying your thoughts like so. You can't help to listen to the second rational mind on the Albatross. You value her words as much as your guardian. More so even with this Voluptuous body "Think about it, I-We can put her to a good use. Her heart is pulsating with dark powers, you can use this."

Now is not the time to cement the girl's fate. Before you could say anything, She stood up, swooning over you with her bedroom eyes. Her tail is coiling with yours "I see you, you libidinous mongrel. You got two hours. Make the best of them."

Pleasure

It has been a good while. You body ached for such an intimate touch. Sweat glistened over your panting bodies as your flesh become one with hers. Thanks to the immense heat, Your mind was in a haze, you showed her little tricks this time. Your thrusts were more primal in nature.

A powerful moan, fingers scarring your well defined back. Her internal warmth and her rhythmic trance were a haven.

"Not...bad." Finally, a smile. A look of satisfaction "I'll peel off your back at this rate, Come."

A good show was desperately needed. She washed you and you did the same. What a glorious night.

You have lost x10 madness (total 25/35)

On Officers

They are special individuals on your ship offering different stat bonuses (or penalties) whether on land or in combat. Sometimes, they will have a different passive bonuses/penalties as well. They are:
First Officer
Gunnery Officer
Chief Engineer
Surgeon
Cook

They are not static in their nature. Further interactions may change them for the best or the worst. Follow their hopes and yearnings if you wish. They often offer a plethora of services, like a surgeon removing an affliction for an example.

They all share a common feature: They can increase a specific stat depending on their nature. At first, they will require a specific oddity . The oddities need will be more costly per each stat increase.

"A prey upon us, Captain!" One of your men spotted a passenger ship, slightly bigger than yours already in a bad shape. It was going to the south west, probably towards the Hive: The Home of the insect people, The Kerkit.

A Favorable outcome

So they did stop. Sometimes, It may be worth it to restrain yourself.

You were the first to fly on their top deck. Huh, didn't expect to see so much carnage below. Some corpses were still fresh, others were neatly wrapped up.

Five Kerkits were waiting for your arrival. Stewardesses . All were injured in one way or another.

"We got nothing to rob or pillage." One made a very, very bold statement. "Barely enough fuel and scraps of food to reach Oyt. The Captain is dead. The First mate is dead. The officers, The sailors...All dead. The elderly, women and children are locked out of your reach. You'll never find the key, scum."

Pathetic, as if doors could stop you. You have a code to follow but that woman is testing your limits. You have many options ahead of you.

Choose one or more choice (as long as they dont contradict each other)

The Ship

>Bring out the Rattus (salvage) [-1 supplies]
Ask them to salvage parts, repair the Albatross with it. Tell them to keep this ship afloat as part of thee code [10-30+1 Hull points to be repaired]

>Bring out the Rattus (Brutal salvage) [-2 supplies]

Note: This may violate the code

>Bring out the Rattus (Delicate salvage) [-1 supplies]

>Bring out the Rattus (Repurpose) [-5 supplies, 15 crew, an officer to lead her is optional]
Ask them to repair the civilian ship , claim her as your own with with a skeletal crew (further options will be available if you chose this one)

Your rounded up everyone (the doors did fall apart easily despite their desperate barricades) the main lobby. The children went on and on crying to their helpless parents. About thirsty or so had survived their previous ordeal. You anxious crew had to keep their urges in check for the moment as they were tasked to loot anything of worth. Apparently the delicious insect lady was not lying... The place was barren. Still, You WILL find something. You are counting their guardian out of it though; a ship can only have a single guardian. Two or more shall cancel each other's effect.

No matter, you will decide its fate later. Once you had found it.

Scraps

Empty handed, most of them. They had nothing but silver cutlery, worthless junk and a bloody box of biscuits and crackers. You were getting furious. Oh and a sack of coal. USELESS! This 'fuel' will do nothing in the maws of your engine. You might as well throw it overboard.

Their guardian remained elusive., Ooooh, this will not end well for them.

You have gained x1 supplies (total 12)
You have gained x1 fuel

You stomped around the frightened passengers, evaluating those who had eye-turning rears and breasts; someone has to fill an empty spot in the Albatross.

The first one was a young ashen, petrified in fear. Black short hair, acceptable bust. She will add some variety to the roaster. The second one was a very tall Kerkit with a delightful fuzziness around her neck. Mmmmmmm, she is definitely your type.

You have gained x2 wenches (total 10)

You gave your men the signal. Personally, you were not in the mood. Their chorus of screams were music to your ears. As long as they were alive, you cared not for their fate.

You have lost x50 madness (total 0)

A couple of hours later, your men were fully satisfied. They proceeded to herd the passengers and the crew to tiny life boats. With no guardian to protect them, they will either starve to death or will be claimed by this god/goddess Cage. Nothing is more sweeter in your humble opinion.

Their once ship shall drift aimlessly. One of many victims of ruthless men like yourself.

Sea of statue

"Their eyes, their bloody eyes..." One of your men crew had few good news for you. This twisted place resembled a hill of nightmares, a home of many statues deeply rooted on Azure-glassed grounds.

The statues themselves were made of different materials, some of which were defying common sense and reality, they are a mixture of all races, all with orbs darker than the abyss herself...one would lose oneself in such unblinking eyes. They laugh. They cry. They Whisper. Motionless. All in the dark, their mere sight is already perturbing your men.

The largest of them all resides at the center, emerging from the sole building in a chaotic fashion. A Towering It was that of a Humm reaching her monstrous claws to the skies. The dock was surrounded by a dense forest of these statues. Transversing this unnatural terrain may prove to be fatal, if one was unprepared for it.

The Third Ring-First Steps

You dismissed your babe's concerns, you will be back with your sister's banner (maybe her head too) in no time! Less than a dozen of men and a couple of supplies will do.

This optimism of yours began to dissipate in the still air; The glassy grounds reflects a distorted shadow of your company. The look at the skies... the heart of Kyth is no more, eternal darkness upon you. The statues mock your company with sinister whispers and harrowing gazes, if you had the times and energy for it, you would have smashed them all to bits.

The Whispers grew more and more yet you continue to press onwards to the unknown. The ongoing tension has reached its climax when a man of fire was found lumbering towards your company. You first thought he was one of these statues. He wasn't one of your boys, maybe your sister's?

His skin was thick, rubbery. His neck was a bloated mess like a rotten toad. He was dragging his boneless elongated arm in utter pain. The devil blubbered out some words, his pus riddled tongue betrayed every single word he murmured.

Whatever his intent was, the four swords buried deep in his back are not a good sign.

This thing was rightfully ignored. If you stopped at every peculiarity, you would never reach your sister. His unintelligible gurgles were left behind. You care not for his fate.

The bottomless gazes of the statues still haunts you, they are dark as this restless night. There was no path to lead you further, only loathsome statues congregating around you.

You have gained x3 madness (total 12/50)

There were hints of other manageable paths before you. The first one was a narrow dark slit between two large mounds of glass, like a tunnel of sorts. It was barely enough for a man to squeeze through. There were no signs of these damnable statues in sight.

The second path had some statues, they were half sunk in a green mire of thick sludge. Flying over it might not be feasible due to the sprawling trees of glass with their sharp edged branches further obscuring the mire.

The third path looked appealing in the first glance; much fewer statues lurking about. The fresh carcass of one of your assemblers confirms otherwise. More dots of blood are found further into this path.

>Rest, consider your choices [-1 supplies]
A brief respite. More to come.

>The Albatross
It is not too late to return now.

>The Mired path
You won't mind getting slowed down a tad

>The Narrow path

The Third Ring- First Approach

Behind a veil of statues, a small shack was entrapped in black glass. "_____ 04" was written on the door. You couldn't make out what the first word was, this was definitely built before this place was struck with such a calamity. What is inside , you wonder. Is it worth the risk?

By pure chance, you have found a small barrel of black powder , courtesy of the Pragmatic Wasters...they dominate all mining operations in Kyth as well as crafting new stone slaves for the iron whore. What brings one of their merchandise here?

>Plant it near the impervious glass, blast it to smithereens

You think it would be wasteful to blow the barrel right away. You will resort to honed blades instead. You ordered your men to start hacking, hopefully, this won't take too much of your precious time.

The Third Ring- First Approach

It didn't take much time thankfully but all of this effort had waned your boys' strength. You had to crack open some batmeat to fill those empty bellies.

You have lost x1 supplies (total 1 for the expedition)

The windows were boarded, the door had scratch marks and some notable holes in it.
The shack wasn't spacious inside as expected; a small room, a larger one with a bathroom. It was in chaos with piles of useless recordings. There was a futile attempt for a trio who tried to barricade themselves inside. Poor bastards, probably some employees or workers of the Celestial Engine. No, their tattered attire is too fancy for hard labor. They must have ran out of food...wait, why are all of them headless? You don't see their skulls anywhere. They have chained themselves up too. Adds more to the mystery.

A Candle was still burning to this day in the heart of the larger room. It had a withered face crying in agony. Around it, the air had a blue tint to it with an oddly pleasant smell.

>Rest for a spell
At least it is better than outside.

>Take the Candle with you
Ignore its ugly face.

>Put off the Candle
Just in case.

>Search the headless remains
The dead won't mind

>Search the Shack for anything useful
Nothing but paper.

You better be off

The Third Ring- First Approach

Their bones were dusty and somewhat more malleable than you would expect, something wasn't right about them. They had nothing on them except a small scrap of paper. The ink has mostly faded, your curiosity has compelled you to try to read what was written. It had the following:

" _____ , We have lost ____ and ____, ___ ___ that the soul of wax is ____. The Moth-Child insists that we preserve ____ at all costs. ___ ___ survive the bombardment until ____ is ____. Release her if you must, though i wouldn't _____ it . ___ ___ _________. Make sure to ____ the soulwick. She ___ ___ 04 under cabinet 128. Best of luck. "

A low guttural sound had come from....somewhere in the shack. Your peripheral vision has caught a blur moving outside. All the dark whispers has grown silent.

>Rest for a spell
No where is safe like this fragile shack

>Take the Candle with you
Its light flickers while the air is still.

You don't need its light

There are many cabinets toppled over.

The Third Ring- First Approach

The moment one of your boys touched the candle holder, his skin went pale and his breath was half frozen in the air. He tried to drop it but his hands were firmly latched to the holder. He screamed for help, He wailed in terror but it was too late for any of you to act; the candle has grown thrice its original size to a more seamless figure as if it was just new , its flame glows like a blazing star. The face of agony was sedated and renewed , replaced by a gentle expression...a peaceful one. a satisfied one.

Soulless, the crewman stares at the corner. His body is shriveled up. His memories, ambitions, personality are lost. He is nothing but a walking corpse.

You have lost x1 crew (total 9/10 in this expedition)
You have gained x5 madness (total 17/50 )

You decided what to do with the soulless mass of flesh before you.

>Kill him
The most merciful option. Without a soul, Most will turn into mindless beasts

>Leave him be
He is not inherently hostile. Still at shock at the loss of his soul

>Restrain him, take him with you
The chains of the trio seems sturdy enough.

He's disgusting.
At least, this means edgy anons won't be able to make him any worse.

so here is the thing:

For those who have been with me from the start of the quest two months ago, you know that we have a session almost on daily basis. I will have to admit, i am feeling the burn already. This is NOT me saying that i am flaking out ; this quest is really great, my players (you) are great but i feel like the quality of the quest is going downhill out of said burn.

Let me say it again: I am not abandoning the quest. I might just need a time off. The question i have is whether i should stay out of /qst/ in the meantime OR go for a light one-shot quest or something? I need your honest opinion on this please, all of you.

Of course, if you have a better alternative, please do say it.

noted. I'll think of something. if this thread became archived, you will find me posting at qtg.
i am thinking of something light, less stressful/gloomy. We'll see.
