Tracking down the lost clone children will be a pain, but you know it's the right thing to do. You agree to help Kalim find them again. You begin by walking over to the window they apparently escaped from. You lean over the window sill and look down. A two story drop with nothing soft to land on and no rope, not even tied together bed sheets. Out the window there's nothing but an alley with some rubbish and a crate turned on its side. Wait no, there's a goblin sitting in the crate maybe he saw them escape.
You find that Shornas is still here and enlist him to watch the remaining clones for you as a favour. You tell Ulric, Alina and Shawel to get ready to move out and head out the door.
The hooded goblin stares at you expectantly as you walk up to him.
>"Three human children with glowing white eyes came out that window last night. Do you know which way they went?"
Bug: "I may have followed those kids last night, I may not have. I can't seem to remember, maybe you could uhuh, refresh my memory?"
He rubs its thumb and index finger together.
(You're pretty sure goblin's aren't protected by the law in any human jurisdiction, you could legally kill this guy if you wanted.)

>"Maybe 10 Talons will do the trick?"
>"Here's 100 Talons, that should be more than generous."
>"Tell me now or I'll beat you to a pulp."
>"Tell me now and I'll beat you to a pulp."
>*Thump him*

Why are you even here goblin? Pretending to be an adventurer, a member of civilization.
How many quests have you completed? Have you ever been in a party? Not many would take you even as a slave to carry their luggage.
I am surprised you are even allowed to enter buildings. Surely as some kind of perverse joke or misplaced kindness.
This is a lush land, where unclaimed apple trees populate the land, yet, you starve here, inside a city foreign to you.
You, like the kids, are only perpetuating a farce, a vile simulacrum. This childish temper tantrum againt reality must end.
Tell me what you saw, then return the the wilderness, to the mountains, where your kind lives. Where you kind dies.
The Archduke's forces in time, your own stupidity soon enough, or I now.
Choose your fate.

We do not associate with goblins.

He stands up, scowling awfully. He walks right up to you and looks straight up at you puffing his chest out.
Bug: "Oh you think you're better than me huh? I'm not some random goblin pretending to be an adventurer, I am a POWERFUL sorcerer and if you want your lost soul ghost children back you better show me a little respect!"

Before you entered Aflor you had never met a goblin (Uthainian monsters have more of a reptilian theme to them) but since you've come here and from the few times you've interacted with them you can tell that they're basically just green kobolds: Evil cheating creatures. And we all know what happens to trespassing Kobolds.
You get out your hammer and prepare to smash him.
Bug: "He- Hey! Stay back! I'm warning you!"

You swing at him but he immediately starts running away causing you to miss
Bug: "HA! Eat my dust!"
He sprints away and crashes into an Ice Wall blocking the exit of the alley. Shawel, Alina, Ulric and Kalim step to your side.
Ulric: "Oh it's just a goblin."

The goblin scampers back to his feet. And starts yelling.
Bug: "They went north! Just go directly north til you find the Tortoise River then go left until you find a big fallen log."
Bug: *inhales*
Bug: "They got captured by some goblins after crossing that log. I am in no way affiliated with them! Please forgive me sire I don't want to be mashed!."

The goblin wastes no time in scurrying off
Kalim: "This is good, they're much safer as goblin captives than they were travelling alone."
>"We should still find them as soon as possible, come on."

You reach Tortoise River quickly enough and start walking along the banks. You hear another party walking across the other side of the river. You motion to your team mates to quiet

down and creep forward to look at them. A band of rough looking warriors, mostly in leather armour are walking along. You remain stationary observing as they pass.
Alina: "Bandits?"
>"I think they're slavers actually."
Kalim: "Azahl's old associates. They're going the same direction as us."
Ulric: "I reckon we can take em'."
Shawel: "Maybe we should just destroy them now, I fight better next to a river."

>"This river gives us the advantage, let's take them out now. Focus the one with ranged attacks."
You hurry forward and get your weapons ready. The slavers see you rush up with hostile intent and ready their weapons. Three of them are armed with shields and throwing spears, the

rest of them appear to have no ranged weapons.

Spam Protection From Arrows (II) or Immunity To Weapons (V)

Protection from arrows is weaker but more spammable, between you and Alina you could get everyone protected.
Immunity to Weapons [piercing] will make someone completely immune to the javelins but Christof and Alina can only maintain one instance of that spell each.
>>
>>3269446
Arrows then.

You cast Protection from Arrows on Alina
Alina casts Protection from Arrows on Shawel
Shawel casts water bolt, hurling a ball of tightly compressed water from the river into one of the spear throwers for 14 damage.
Kalim casts spectral hand, a ghostly hand made from his own life force appears. He takes 3 damage.
Ulric throws a rock at one of the Slavers, it bounces harmlessly off his shield.

Slaver: "Eat this."
Slaver throws a javelin at Shawel doing 3 damage.
Slaver: "What the, they've got magic shields!"
Slaver throws a javelin at Kalim doing 14 damage
Slaver throws a javelin at Alina doing 2 damage.
Slaver Leader throws Toxin of Greater Weakness at Alina. A plume of horrid purple smoke soaks into her skin. she fails her save and loses 3 points of strength. Alina collapses into Ulric's arms.
Alina: "Ooooh I feel numb..."
The Slaver Leader retrieves another toxin.

Fuck this gay shit, let's retreat so we can stalk them later. Or at least get onto the other side of the river. Ulric and Christof can't do anything.
>>
>>3269512
No, no. We need to take down the leader, he has more toxic granades.

Shawel, we need to bring down the leader, bring him here or make us a path to him.
Then we either sprint towards or attack him.
>>
>>3269505
Cast protection on Kalim first of all. Ulric protects Alina until she recovers

yee, we can always just run away later they cant cross the river easy.

Fair point, but taking out that leader is more important right now.

>"Shawel, pull in their leader!"
You cast Protection from Arrows on Kalim.
Alina is immobile, but she maintains her concentration on her one Protection from Arrows spell.
Shawel casts Water Whip on Slaver Leader. He fails his Dexterity save and goes flying over to your side of the river.
Slaver Leader: "Quick men, swim across!"
Kalim casts Ghoul Touch and jabs Slaver Leader. He fails his Constitution save and is paralysed with a wave of rancid energy.
Ulric attacks Slaver Leader's eyes scoring a critical hit! doing 37 damage and knocking him down.
Ulric attacks with his offhand doing 4 damage.

The melee slavers dive in and start swimming across. The slight current nudging them down stream.
Slaver throws a javelin at you doing 13 damage.
Slaver throws a javelin at Shawel doing 7 damage.
Slaver throws a javelin at Kalim doing 3 damage.

You bash the slaver leader for 24 damage.
Shawel casts Control Water, the gentle current of the river suddenly becomes rapid. The slavers trying to cross are sent far down the stream.
Kalim casts Vampiric Touch and drains Slaver Leader for 12 damage. Kalim gains 12 hit points.
Ulric attacks the Slaver Leader's eyes scoring a critical hit! doing 48 damage and blinding him. He does not survive the lethal attack.

With their leader dead the remaining three slavers starts retreating as fast as their legs can carry them.

>You gain 1250 XP
>You now have 49850

You look down the river, all the slavers who dared to swim across have been swept away.
Shawel: "Easiest victory in my life."
Ulric: "Nice pick Shawel."
Alina: "Uurrrrgh."
>"Alina are you going to be alright? Do you need a potion?"
Alina: "Its alright. I can feel it wearing off, just give me a few minutes."
There seems to be a decent amount of IDs right now so I'd like to level Christof up now. Distribute his skill points and choose a feat.
(Note: If you want Salaman to rejoin your party again in the future you need another Party Member slot.)

When Alina's strong enough to walk again you continue on at a slow pace. Eventually you reach a waterfall.
Ulric: "I bet there's a big giant cave behind the waterfall and the goblins all live inside."
Kalim: "There are also a lot of goblin tracks around here. If not the waterfall somewhere else nearby."
You step in through the waterfall and find a spacious cave. A winding corridor leads deeper in. There's also a blocked off path labelled burial ground. A possible secret entrance?
Shawel points to a small recess of stagnant water.
Shawel: "That bit of water there. It connects to another part of the cave. With my Water Breath spell we could take that path."
