It'd be hard to crush your spirits and drown your joy out. You have a family and siblings that treat you as one of their own, even already cherishing you as you would cherish all of them already in at least Juliana's case. The words excited and joyous just don't seem to be enough to describe these wonderfully warm emotions you feel right now. Sure there's the fact your mother is a bit....draconic as are yourself and your siblings, but...small details and she at least seems to have love in her heart alongside a cruelty so far thankfully only glimpsed. A idle thought that brings to mind the one thing that could potentially ruin your fantastic mood, Besides Juliana drooling upon your head or the shouting of your golden scaled brother. Who's name still escapes as does the name of your second sister, but you can learn both in due time, mostly as you are more worried about the site before you in your new family's den.

Vilith, the mad man, is currently trying to butcher an elk, no doubt for you and your kin to have for breakfast....but he hasn't skinned it, and that is making it hard to look forward to eating. As does the fact he is treating the butcher's knife like a child would a stick and is waving it around as he sings what sounds like a karskian drinking song, or at least Morgan, the wineson tells you.

Juliana tries to chew on your horns in her sleep, and flops down to your side, kicking her legs in the air like a pup stuck in a most dreadful dream, her face twisted with childish fear.

"NOW, once I am done here, I shall start your lessons, my dear lords" Vilith says happily "Namely on your new natures, and what it means to be a dragon...maybe some history and uh, general politness as well if we can get to it today"

Your eyes follow his arm, and then the knife as he swings the former back and sends the latter flying through the air like a sparrow.

"Shit" Vilith mutters under his breath "Anyways uh...." His gloved hand reaches for his scepter as the partially torn creature lays on a stone table in front of you.

"Juliana, dear sister" You coo, nearly tapping your beloved, if somewhat troublesome sister with your tail before remembering the blade upon its tip, and instead raise a gentle claw and shake her by her...shoulders? its hard to tell with how her body is shaped to be entirely honest. Her frills raise for a minute, as a shrill squeak escapes her throat, her tail snapping like a whip through the air, as you duck out of instinct.

"baz?" She askes tiredly as she manages to rolls over, rubbing and clawing at her tries to pull the sleep from them "Ah hadth a Haoorible drrriiim"

"I could tell, which is why I woke you" you say sweetly as her head bobs back up, clearly having just nearly fallen asleep again, as Vilith begins to tap and proud at the poor mangled mess that elk he killed had become, making your smile fall slightly at the memory of him doing the same to your men on the field of battle. BUT not time to worry about that, after all, while he bumbles around trying to "Cook" Now would be a perfect chance to find out the names of your other two siblings. though you can already guess who one of them is, even if you did not know the boys name, you knew his look. So, why not test this theory of yours. the large, bull shaped and shouldered brother of yours is sitting between Morgan and your still hesitant cat shaped sister.

"ATTENTION!" You shout loudly, as to your surprise, Juliana and your gold scaled brother stand straight up to your words. You turn to morgan as he preens and toys with his scales, and gives you a dull look

"Absolutely not" He says as he curls back up into a ball.

"Sorry" You laugh as Juliana gives you a somewhat scathing look "So that proves you served with me then brother....may I ask your name"

"Yoooourgh?" he says, obviously recognizing your voice to a degree "Mrrrr...me...I am....dyer"

"Dohnt do thaat" Juliana hisses at you, sounding more embarrassed than upset now, which brings a smile to your lips.

"Lovely, and at least you're wide awake now sister...speaking of which" You say as you turn your head and see the old fool standing at attention, hands held behind his back as the elk begins to leak an odd red smoke...which is absolutely disconcerting "Dear sister, may I be so bold as to ask you your name"

She watches you for a moment, placing hand upon her own head as if trying to hide herself or draw out her thoughts, she glances between you and the rest of your siblings before looking away shyly and whispering a name.

"Samara?" You ask to be sure as Juliana perks up

"SAMS!" She shrieks as she goes to give her usual greeting to her newly realized sister, and you just sigh as she goes bounding off after the shrieking and hissing form of your terrified sister.

"They truly are two different sides of the same coin" Morgan yawns as you turn back to the red smoke spewing deer and watch it burst into flames. Dyer curses loudly as Vilith pulls his robes to his front to keep them from burning.

Besides the horrid smell of burning fur and the dreadful shrieking filling the air, this is truly a lovely and peaceful morning, the most lovely you can remember in fact. The fact you're enjoying it alongside brothers and sisters who don't hate the blood in your veins might have something to do with it, in fact you're almost certain that's the main reason you're enjoying this morning so much. Well enjoying it besides the chaos your sisters are causing right now, or Juliana is... you really should stop her before poor samara suffers an attack from Heart-eater. You know from experience that Juliana's smile isn't the most...inviting. So you begin to stand to try and calm her, when dyer looks up with his dull brown eyes, and snorts as he shakes his head, his horns sticking straight up without a curve to them. Spreading his wings, smaller than yours own he looks at you tiredly.

"I'll... block... them" he says as he sees you moving your tail to trip your sister, stabbing the blade into the pile of pillows to keep it from hurting her "Make.....it....easier"

And what soon follows can only be described as a mess, Samara clambers over him, and pounces away, while Juliana simply swerves around him as he stumbles and falls to the ground, only to trip on your tail and instead of falling so you can calm and chastise her, you get dragged with her and end up on your back somehow, thankful not to be tangled in your sister as Samara stops and huffs, shaking still.

"Halph" Juliana giggles, still giddy from all the running you imagine

"Ow" Dyer manages as you stare up at the soot covered ceiling

"Dear sister, please realize that Samara is scared witless of you" You say bluntly, juliana's giggles stopping as she frowns and looks horribly guilty "And please do focus on the lesson, or pretend to try to"

"Oh...s..sar...sorry" She says meekly as Samara cautiously sits back by Morgan.

"alright, if they're done playing, may you continue slave?" Morgan yawns as dyer rights himself, and Juliana sits between you and him

"Ah yes, well our lesson starts, with as I said, what it means to be a dragon, and your new lives...as usually I'd be showing you how to move and speak but..." He says, looking over you all as Juliana looks guilty and stays silent "You seem to have figured that out upon your lonesomes, my dear lords and ladies, so instead, I'll be teaching you about your kin, starting with what dragon is. See, to be a dragon, a dragon must act like a dragon. A dragon is a dragon, but that does not mean a dragon is always a...dragon. Uh, to be a dragon, one must act like one"

"I've heard drunks that make more sense" Morgan snorts, lifting his nose up

"Ooooh" Dyer yawns, maybe not paying attention "but...could you....repeat that?"

"is this a riddle?' Samara asks

"I...I don't understand, Baz? whats it mean? I don't get it" Juliana asks, turning to you, you hope looking to you for guidance does not become habit.

Hmm, its worded poorly, but this reminds you of some teachings you've learned, the idea that the self, the mask the soul wears in this philosophy is formed of thought rather than anything spiritual. I think therefore I am, but that isn't what he's trying to say you think. No, it isn't anything like that book, the masks we wear, but it does have the same theological undertones to it. Yes, if you 'd to venture a guess with the little information at hand, it would appear, that your mother calling you tyrants and looking down on your kindness somewhat was in fact her fulfilling the norms of dragon society, culture and perhaps even religion. Dragons are expected to act as dragons would, this implies their is a guild lines towards what a dragon should be, how they should act and hold themselves and wouldn't take a genius to figure out what that'd entail considering the stories. However, a dragon is not always a dragon, this implies that dragon is both a race and a title given, perhaps there is no name for a proper "race" and dragons all call themselves by the title they've earned, which makes sense as your mother said she'd gift you your name when you've earned it. that also means one may lose the right to be called a dragon, or considered one by acting out of place among their fellows, as mother did tell you not to play and embarrass yourself in the sight of others. Fascinating, actually. It reminds you somewhat of nobility, one must act correctly or lose privilege, privilege gained by acting as one would expect a dragon to act, though that no doubt differs due to matters of pride and philosophical differences and...what were you doing again! Oh yes, Juliana asked you to explain it to her! You just got caught up in thinking upon it.

"Ah yes, its rather simple, dear sisters and brothers, you see" You say as you quickly realize they may not appriciate or understand the deeper complexities of philosophy, know what the maskian way of thought is or even get that dragon refers to a title rather than species. Then again, the last one seems rather simple to understand

"Dragon, is more of a title than anything else" You say slowly and softly, keeping an eye on vilith to be sure you're not speaking nonsense by reading his expression under his halfmask " it is, the center piece of our new culture, an ideal to live up to and a challenge. To be blunt, if one does not act as a dragon should by the rules of society, they lose the title, and the privilege granted by it as well I must assume"

Clearing your throat you continue. "In fact, I'd wager it is almost, religious in nature to a degree, like how nobility are trained from birth to act properly" You say as morgan snorts with laughter "To act draconic is to be polite and proper, and I shouldn't need to explain what acting draconic would mean". Juliana and dyer hang off your every word, having crawled closer to you as morgan just smiles, and samara's expression changes from worry to a warm smirk for a moment as Vilith stops acting like a teacher to drag the charred carcass closer to you all.

"So, what he, Juliana, is trying to teach us, is like mother said we must act as tyrants or however else dragons act, to be dragons, to be named, and to...uh enter society. think of it like manners but...crueler more likely than not" You say leaning closer to her with a warm smile as dyer nods, pretending to have understood it from the beginning

"Well that'll be easy, why is this a lesson" Morgan snorts

"Oh...how dreadful, but...that's only in "public" yes" Samara asks

"Of course....I understood...it completely...from the start" Dyer says as Juliana gives you an confused look.

"Yeear really smaart, arrrggnt you baz?" She says sweetly "caaass, hiii didn't make any sense"

"You did hear you have to act a bastard to become a dragon right?" Morgan asks dully

"Why?" Juliana asks softly "dragons are just regal right? just like nobles right"

The laughter hurts your ears, and you can't blame him, but it does anger you somewhat

"Well, there is much debate over, what being a dragon means but....don't ever, ever" Vilith says seriously as he raises his scepter "LET ANYONE name you a pretender to the title, the mere act of losing it will make you open to thievery, deception, murder, and far worse. Some have even used it as an excuse to eat those who, haven't earned the right. And that, Baz...lord baslin and lady Juliana, is why your mother scolded you slightly. But no Morgan, while the more orthodox would say to take anything you wish and...be as you said, the basics are"

"What Juliana said?" You ask as he shrugs slowly

"To a degree?" He says slowly "few dragons will ever say not to take, kill, raze, pillage, plunder, devour, consume, indulge or whatever you wish with your power, as you are ABOVE mortals such as I, but the most barebone interpretation is act your position, but all will say "act as a dragon" Which, entails burning things to get people willing to be lorded over or simply taking what you want so"

"Yes and no?" You ask as dyer grumbles

"So, we're expected to murder and steal and worse to get our way?" Samara asks sadly hanging her head

"I mean, baslin and I are nobility, so it'll come naturally to us, if you want lessons sister, I'll gladly give them for a price" Morgan says, giggling as Julian turns away, obviously embarrassed or even hurt from his heckling

"Well, I can go into more detail of what....acting as a dragon entails and the rules all of your peers follow" vilith says putting his hands behind his back again "or I can move onto history for now"

And so to express kindness in public is to announce weakness and invite attacks from other dragons.

Should we, for the sake of argument, decide to be nice to people and show restraint in taking from them, we will be making impression that we are afraid and in best case embolden other dragons to attack us directly. In worse case, it would invite attacks on the people we apparently care about just to gain advantage over us.

So I was wondering. What happens to souls when they die? I think they get reincarnated. Are there different classifications of souls? Do animals have souls or is there only one kind of soul? If the dragons of old that challenged the gods and lost their souls, what became of them? Despite being dragons we're still in a sense human?

Well if we can get our siblings to maintain their positive outlook (will be hard with Morgan methinks, temptation to fuck off and make for himself a lavish little kingdom could spark some ambition in him... although prospect of being surrounded by clutch that is not going to stab him in the back for his hoard might hold some appeal. Maybe he could start a bank within our domain?) then maybe we could with combined strength keep raids of ambitious neighbors in check. But we gotta grow big enough to be able to fight, first, so a degree of subterfuge (or corruption) will be necessary regardless

"Dear sisters and brothers, we merely have to act the part" You say calmly, already bringing forth the outlines of plots, plans and tactics into the sea that is your mind, trying to find out how to avoid and abuse this system to your own benefits and to that of your dear siblings "in public, We are but newborns birthed into a ruthless world, but our hearts are still our own. We simply must take care in how we are seen to act"

"Oh goooood" Julian purrs, collapsing by your side, as Samara sighs in relief with a wide smile on her face that quickly fades

"it will still be most stressful" She sighs as dyer remains silent "And trying on the soul"

"Leaves a.....bad taste...in my mouth" he complains, scratching at his golden scales, his eyes fallen on the burnt meat in front of him "Even then"

"I don't have to worry" Morgan says, still giggling like a miser who has just taken the last coin from a beggar

"But wiiii have ei...eachother, right? Soo, it won't bi..bi..be so hard riiiaght?" Juliana asks, a mix of excited and worried, as she keeps tugging on your wings

"Of course...what else are siblings for" Samara says with a low chuckle, good to see her calming, even if she isnt very talkative

"YES precisely a!" vilith says before covering his mouth and looking over his shoulder quickly before sighing in relief when he doesn't see his master and your mother's jaws behind him "Its...all a matter of appearance, like a ball, but still! I find the rules to be quite agreeable and perfect for honing a mind"

That explains a lot about this old man, you struggle to keep your tongue from repeating such thoughts out loud.

"I would like to hear the rules, in more detail if you would" You say instead as Vilith slumps over

"Well, as I said, each dragon nearly interprets them differently in their own way and" He begins before your eyes narrow
cont

"Then, the general, most common way it is seen" You say calmly "Will do"

"Oh, be the lord you were born to be. Take no insult, if you want something take and claim it, if you are angered or wronged, pay in blood. Do not give what is yours, but take what cannot be defended. Prize your name and the honor that comes with it, hold it with dignity" He says seriously, smacking his scepter on the ground to make sure we're listening "Play not the fool. Mortals are for you amusements, do not think to serve them for you are above them, do not bow your head to any even the gods. to bow your head is to admit you're lesser, only do so if there is no other way to survive and even then death is preferable. Your life is yours to live, enjoy it fully. Kindness earns you nothing that can't be won with might, claw or fang, Show respect until it is no longer required or deserved. Do not steal from another dragon without reason, even if its just a petty justification, it must be declared. Though few actually follow that one. And do not live among mortals, rule them as you were born to. treat them well if you must, but do not give so freely your own riches fade"

"AND" he says, suddenly shouting now, nearly making you jump, and make Juliana leap a good foot backwards "most importantly, there is nothing taboo, restricted or disallowed, you live by your laws and yours alone. Except one, Acting as a mortal, treating them as equals or kindly besides pets or playthings, or....worse of all, telling them you used to be human, telling them that great secret of your kind"

There's a silence for a moment as he looks over you and smiles at you yourself

"those are the basics that will keep you alive in socializing to learn the more arcane rules" He says happily as he taps his scepter on the ground "And leads into your glorious history, which I shall teach after breakfast and a wandering around the nest and its outlying surroundings, good day for now my lords"

"How....horrible" Dyer sighs heavily

"...not even the gods" Samara says sadly "that's, somehow the worst part of it"

"Baz?" Juliana asks, tugging at your wing, obviously about to ask you to explain it to her again "I need halph uahnderstanding some of what hii said"

"You stopped paying attention didn't you?" I ask as she grins her needle tooth grin

"Half waaaiii through" She says with a nervous chuckle as you roll your head

"I..am not eating that" Morgan says as dyer eyes the elk hungrily

"Well in trying times, one must eat even the elk kings most putrid offerings" Samara says trying to smile

To be honest, from how the rules are stated all it would take is literally just a minor rumor that may not last even a month and another dragon can use that as an excuse to go after us for being "weak", so I'm not so trusting of any other dragons outside of maybe our own siblings. And even then we shouldn't be shocked at one of them betraying us for greater gain.

Of course I'm probably shadowrunning a little too hard for such a early part of this quest and should chill, but these supposed laws are activating a little red warning light in the back of my brain.
>>
"You really need to pay attention more" You say softly as you stand and walk over to the still smoking mass of meat, deciding that you can't be picky in your current state, especially since you and Juliana didn't partake in the rabbits Vilith had brought earlier. The smell is foul, but, you'll just have to bear it.

"So what are the rules?" She asks sweetly, snaking next to you and trying to make an expression like a pup would

"Act as a lord as you are one. Take no insult, if you want something take it, be vengeful. Do not give up what you own or be generous but take that which you can" You say pausing to make sure she's following and judging from her frown she is

"Okaaai" She says as you give her a curt nod and continue "I remember that...so, what arrr the otherrrr rules"

"You're taking your time to speak, good" You say with a smile "treasure your name, keep it with dignity. do not act foolish. Mortals are toys, do not serve them or gods. don't bow your head unless it is the only way to survive. Live life as you please" you say, seeing her wince at your choice of words "Don't bother with kindness when you can win whatever you want with power. Show respect until out of sight or it is no longer deserved"

"And what about the don't steal from other dragons thing" She says, sounding half asleep in how she talks when taking her time, droning like an old priest

"Doesn't matter apparently, don't live among mortals, rule them. apparently treating them well isn't the default choice considered by dragons" You say as she frowns

"Oh....well" She says sadly "I...I at least have a family, even if I lost m..my old one"

You nod slowly frowning as she forces a smile

"And do not be too "generous" even then" You sigh heavily feeling a little depressed now for your sister's sake "And most importantly, don't tell anyone who you used to be, don't act like a mortal or treat them as anything better than pets or"

"But pets are treated bettarrgh than people" She says with a grin as you smirk at then try to look serious again

"Of course" You reply as you try and figure out how to cut with your tail "Just don't tell them about the way we were born, besides that, you're free to do whatever you wish and"

You pause as you feel a sudden uneasy feeling and see her moving to bite you as a joke.

"Except biting me" You say sternly "Morgan, fine, dyer fine...samara, when she's recuperated, but not biting Baslin"

"Mmmmmm" she growls, before looking at the smoking meat "Can I have some?"

"Of course" You say cheerfully "Also speaking of pets, did you have any"

"Cat" She says, sadly going silent as her smile fades with just that

"Well...we have morgan" You say trying to cheer her up, and it doesn't work

"but I could have a lion" She says slowly as you saw, and she sounds joyful once more

"I am going to explore....dyer, friend, will you walk with me, I was mourning your loss and would love a chance to catch up" Morgan says as dyer perks up
>>

>>3274289
Samara bows her head, apparently praying as morgan drags dyer away from the meat, with much effort. You manage to find a way to swing your tail and hack off a haunch after a few solid whacks, dragging it to the side for your sister, before repeating it for yourself. the reek reaches you again, so you close your eyes and think of a roast pig before biting down into the fur and....finding it to taste almost impossibly fantastic, and pull back only to find that you still need to chew through the fur, cut into the flesh and then rip it out. Which Juliana seems to be having trouble with as well

"Why do you want to bite me anyways?" You ask through a mouthful of smoldering fur as the thought comes to mind

"iiiiit sieems fun!" She replied as she tries to figure out her own teeth

And we'll take a break here
I'll continue when i get back from work or tomorrow morning

Point of discussion: any plans/ idle interactions you want to have with your siblings/ vilith the demented?

>>3274272
And that's why dragons are solitary creatures.
>>
>>3274272
Shadowrunnings are justified I think, it will probably be hard to trust any other dragons, but if we grow together and learn to love each other I think we can trust our siblings, ones more than others of course.

>>3274302
Share some food with Samara too since she stayed, I want to see what she thinks and how we should try to survive this together, which god did she serve in life.
Ask our sisters if they discovered any new ability like our rust.
>>
>>3274302
Dyer was one of Morgan's? Huh.

For plans? Figure out what each of us can do and learn some bomb ass magic from Vilith.
>>
>>3274317
ink they were from the same unit under us and died side by side, morgan tried to abandon dyer but both of them got killed all the same if I remember correctly
>>
>>3274302
>plans
Role playing! We need to practice evil and haughtiness. Morgan and Baslin can act as referees.
Sams needs to learn how to pray in private, and maybe self control to suppress body language in front of heretics and blasphemers.
Julie needs to learn restraint in showing her affection in front of others. Maybe we could agree on a code word for being watched or other inappropriate situations when decorum must be observed?
>>
>>3274302
Get to know them, the real them, we are smart enough to figure out and understand their personalities. Help and protect them anyway we can as a brother, our new family needs us, try to come up with ways to help them hide what they are but keep whatever they want.
Flying lessons should be fun too.
Hunting together and exploring around later.
>>
>>3274324
I thought Morgan was the opposing general, or am I wrong?
Well if the both of them were under us then that's cool.
>>
>>3274356
What I would like too is maybe to give Juliana private lessons, so she can be more knowledgeble and pay more attention to dangers and important situations.

Charred meat shouldn't taste good as this. Well you say charred meat, but its really more burnt leavings with something that still vaguely resembles meat and fat under it. still, somehow it still tastes sweet and fresh in a way. Your two sisters are still by your side, sharing your meal with you which would usually fill you with bliss, but at the moment only fills you with a slowly growing feeling of dread. Mostly because you know already how much work you'll have to go through to make them "presentable" to the society you're going to find yourself thrust into eventually. Of course, that can be done at anytime, but what better time to learn about them, the trueselves they'll not doubt have to hide, then while sharing a meal with them? And even among these now conflicting emotions of dread and curiosity a thought runs away from the two all conquering fears and joys you're beginning to feel, and towards the void in the sea of your mind. Namely if they have awoken any magical talent as you have, and if its anything as odd as the ability awaken within yourself. This is of course but one thought among the many ideas and plans for the future already beginning to bubble forth. Most of them to do with the tutoring and teaching you feel you'll no doubt have to give to your sisters, and dyer as well more likely than not as Morgan might see it as all too troubling to deal with. "Acting...never part of my forte" you think almost outloud "Perhaps the wineson will have some knowledge of it?"

"You look troubled" Samara says casually, still keeping her distance clearly as Juliana chews her portion into little strips of meat.

You glance up at her, still chewing as you think the most important part of your planning. Namely the order all of this will take.

Well, discussing the past would help to understand who they are now, and may forge a kinship and trust between the two, or at least let Samara see that Juliana is anything but a threat.

"if I may be so bold as to ask, what were you before this fateful change?" You ask calmly before your teeth hit bone and send a wave of discomfort and mild pain through your untrained and untested jawbones "What paths did you walk..before of course you joined a legion, Juliana"

Juliana just smirks as Samara's brow lowers in an expression you'd have to think would be the closest a dragon could come to furrowing their brow in thought.

"Would I be granted the same...honor as you ask of us?" Samara says, tilting her head slightly and narrowing her eyes as she gazes up at you, peeking out over the scorched meat"And I did tell I was a priestess no?"

"Of course, but I do not know much of religion, dear sister, it was...I must admit, not interest of mine" you say flippantly as you look to juliana with an expecting look, and slowly she begins her tiring, droning manner of speech when she forces herself to actually take the time to talk "right".

"Before...becoming ah legionaiiir?" She asks quickly giving up on the boring manner of speaking, at least partially "Oh Aii did lots of things! moohstly with my family. couldn't really, finhd my calling aniiione time, so I kept trying nehw things that seemed fun...diidn't rieeelly have any sort of duuhties, so...ai was a bit bored"

"Is that why you became a legionnaire? boredom?" You ask, curiosity peaking due to her broad and lacking description of her own life.

"A carefree existence, if only all could be so blessed to float through life's currents" Samara says almost idly "You were a lucky soul....sister"

you turn back to her as Juliana's eyes fall towards the ground in thought with a flap from her wings breaking the silence every odd moment, She's smiling and so are you!
some progress already! fantastic!

"Siii...si...seemed fun, like in the stories! hieeeroic battles...dueling, lasth stands, charging into battle" She says happily, no hint of sarcasm in her words as you bite your tongue, realizing just how much of a fool your sister truly is

"T...truly?" You say with a nervous laugh as she nods and then frowns, wincing as she puts a claw towards her throat

"I...it wasn't" She whimpers as you sigh in relief, so she isn't entirely a fool then, good. just mostly a fool in the need of a watchful eye and teacher, both which a brother can provide. Samara clears her throat, deciding to rejoin the conversation again "It...really wasn't like...the stories"

"You're lucky you're so flighty in your passions, or red-hands may have come to visit to claim you" Samara says softly, smiling widely as Juliana bows her head, obviously suffering from what she went through by your side in that final day "No doubt Wind-Keeper blessed your birth, you don't have an ounce of cruelty do you?"

>>3279723
Juliana remains silent, her eyes looking haunted as she slowly nods, a smirk crawling from her frown slowly as her optimism returns to her as her mind turns back to the bright parts of her life again. Is that how she stays so carefree and happy? by focusing simply on what's good in the world around her? or knowingly remaining ignorant of the bad? or is that just how she is, a pure carefree soul with somewhat lacking sense? hmm.

"Yeh...I guess" she says, singing almost as she notices you staring intently at her "Baz?"

"I'm thinking" You say dully "Don't worry about it"

"Oh, you were a general, yes Brother? one who didn't follow any gods I presume. What was that like, commanding so many lives?" Samara asks, suddenly much more relaxed.

You ponder for a moment, becoming distracted by the question as Juliana looks curiously at you as if you've suddenly sprouted a second head, obviously awaiting your answer as much as Samara herself. The answer is of course as complicated as some of your more odd thoughts, and as hard to put to words as the questionable tactical decisions of your enemies. Spreading your wings, before folding them back down around yourself, you tap a claw on the back of your wrist, humming to yourself to try and find out how to word your feelings of your chosen profession properly.
Raising a wing to speak without it muffling your voice, you give your answer calmly, and succinctly.

"A test of my mind" You say, as a poet would, raising your claw and bladed tail as Juliana frowns, raising an eyebrow as if disappointed yet still interested "A challenge to show the world"

"So you think yourself an artist then?" Samara asks, leaning closer to you as you turn a glance towards her, seeing her still holding her cordial smile, with half closed eyes

"And a heavy weight upon my mind" You continue as she frowns and nods

"As it should be, of course" She says, spreading her pitiful wings "it'd take a...certain kind of man to feel anything but guilt with so many lives in his hands"

"I think I get it" Juliana drones, slowly herself to speak seriously as you nod "it...must've hurt"

You nod again, more solemnly as juliana pouts and crawls over to your side, not voicing or showing the emotions those words bring back to mind.

"Still, it is rare that a man of war doesn't ask the gods to watch over him" Samara says, sounding a little judging as Juliana tries to comfort you with her presence as you have done with yours.

"I am not a man of war" You say, trying to ignore Juliana rolling over while trying to get comfortable and rolling down the small hill of soft pillows and drapes your mother constructed around your "nests", narrowly missing your head with her tail "I am a man of planning and thought, war is simply my chosen study"

"Oh, so battle isn't what you seek, but the satisfaction of victory" She says narrowing her eyes as if trying to peer through you "through, superior intellect rather than brawn, how right I was to call you rare. And you...don't ask bright-mistress for clear thoughts?"

"Who?" You ask as Samara's face contorts as if disgusted or pained "As I said, I am not a man of the gods"

While you wait for her response, juliana runs back up the "hill" pauses to look at both of you and says "try it! its fun!" before tossing herself back down like a snake flung from a stick.

"And yet you choose to f...bathe in a setting so controlled by their meddling" Samara sneers as if she finds your lack of faith amusing, chuckling "are you that confident in your skill?"

"I knew them not, why should I beg them for aid?" You answer bluntly, looking into her cat like eyes as she raises up her head

"So you'd fight against their blessings?" She asks, spreading her wings

"Who says my foes would pray? or that it'd do any good. Correct me if I am wrong, but the twin deaths and the father of battle are all impartial, yes?" You say with a smirk as samara chuckles a low laugh

"Unless he favors them" She says as she returns a smile and you can't help but laugh.

"Fools aren..." You say as a dread thought enters your mind

"Fools are beloved by gods" She says confidently as she sees you smile turn to a scowl of worry. what if that fool was led to that stream that horrid day? that is..a must unnerving thought.

"Brother does something trouble?" Samara begins before there's a shriek that interupts her and your ponderings

"Halph!" Juliana cries, no doubt tangled or buried beneath something again

You sigh.

"Fools do need someone watching them, I suppose" You say, smiling warmly as you stand onto your four legs, still finding it odd how easy it is to move in this body of yours "And I will tell you my troubles after"

"You play the mother hen?" Samara asks, sounding a bit like how morgan would talk for a second as I nod.

"Exactly, and then we shall discuss your past and my own....maybe ask juliana to be more detailed" You say more to yourself than Samara as she turns away from you

"But why waste the day laying around and chattering?" She asks as you begin to walk away to free your dear sister from whatever has befallen her, or rather fallen on her "When we can accomplish so much more"

"We are young, as is the day" You say calmly

"You sound like the wine maker" She replies dully as you shake your head and tail, clearly your throat.

"DEAR SISTER!" You shout to find where the halph has come from "I am beginning to think you're doing this on purpose"

"Whiii would Aiii liiiike beeing ahl knoughted awp?" She cries out, mangling her words in her panic "iiits sucks and makes me cramp...or feel like I should"

"How?" You ask as you see her caught in a fallen breastplate, looks like a ornate piece than actual armor

"It fell, I don't know how I got in" She groans, kicking her legs as you realize the problem, her tail is too big to get in the way the rest of her did, and her horns are caught on the straps.

"Can you twist your head around?" you ask, thinking that may free her as she nods and, you freeze in place from shock as her neck turns nearly completely around, she pauses, her eyes widening with panic

"Isssth thisssth suuurrrsposed to happen?" She yelps as you nods slowly, considering the rest of her is still moving perfectly well "Then why isn't it halphing?!"

"Your horns are caught" You say, pointing at the straps with your tail as her breaths slows, and her eyes narrow. She makes an odd noise, as her head vanishes into the breastplate, you think she's embarressed by that "Do you need anything else from me? dear sister?"

She stays hidden and growls "Don't tell the others about this" slowly, so you're sure to understand what she's saying. Nodding, you leave her to angst, figuring anything you do will just make it worse.

"So, what troubles you, brother...and what troubled her?" Samara asks with the cat like smirk she seems fond of.

"Well, if you would humor me and the rant that is sure to follow" You say with a sigh that feels as if it carries all the weight of your sorrow and anger

I'm not sure but I think is to talk about our past?

Tell her how we never had a real family and how this change of events at least gave us that, talk about how that enemy general, in his foolishness managed to kill all the soldiers with us and how that angered and saddened us.

Tell her we are worried about what Vilith told us, that we are not that person he says a dragon must be and we do not intend to become that

And finally ask her about her, and where was she, when we pointed the scepter to everyone there we didn't knew there was a priestess around.

>>3280116
And then rant for the rest of the day about how we were treated unfairly, and will seek revenge or something.

Dearest sister is still learning how to maneuver in her new body.

>>3280116
I'll be kind of mad if the only reason we were able to whip each other out (other army ten times larger) was because the gods favored us that day, and not the fact we were just as effective as the opposing army.

She says nothing, simply sitting with both of her hands in front of her like a cat would, as you sit on your haunches as a lion or more mundane cat would you figure, spreading your wings before settling them back down as the cloak they resemble. You hold your head, so it will not fall too far as you speak your hidden shames and pains.

"Well, to begin with, despite Morgan seeing me as an equal, I am perhaps, below the rest of you by my own sight" You say sadly, keeping your head head proudly "As I know not how you were raised, I cannot be sure, but you have all had families, loving kin, bonds of blood and compact. Family, is something until now, I've never had"

"Oh? a priest gives up such treasures" She says as sadly as you, hanging her head "I am happy at least, our sister seemed to have more than us, yes?"

"Well, you had something to give away, I did not. Never did, what should have been my greatest friends, staunchest allies, my family, my blood. They hated me, despised me for what I was" You say, lowering your tone sternly "For when a man who prides himself in his dignity and pride, comes back with a child from a lowborn woman, with no name to her, from a land away from his own...the story he built himself, why it becomes clear as a lie doesn't it"

She shies away from you, wincing from the sight of your teeth and swaying blade of a tail

"By all means, I should've been raised with love, and surrounded by the kindness of brothers and sisters, and the warmth they give. instead of only cold apathy or burning hate" You say, stepping closer as you calm voice begins to crack and break to reveal the years of suppressed anger that has burnt in you as embers "I am sorry sister, but having family, that purest love and giving it away to serve, is nothing as being denied it and known as the literal black sheep of your flock, it simply isn't anything like it. Isolation, and then as you grow, dread understanding of your station, crushing weight of both expectations and doubt laid upon you by the gilded and muddled blood in your veins. Knowing you were a mistake, everytime a sister glared at you, or you must carry a younger brothers bow during a hunt knowing both will have something to inherit, while you are only given the generosity of being kept alive in "Comfort"

"I...I didn't mean to offend you" She says, burying her face under her claws, arching her back at your menace as you step back and take a deep breath, smiling again

"I apologize, for it is not right to do the same as my siblings did to me, show anger for lack of understanding" You sigh "But...I am perhaps the happiest at this change, this cruel twisting and pulling of fate, for now I have a family that cares about me or at least doesn't hate me, and I should not take it so for granted"

"Its fine, I touched a nerve, anger is natural" She says softly "as is fear"

cont

>>3280197

"of course, but so is joy, this...is the purest joy I've felt, learning and just being around siblings bound not just by blood, but by love even if it has just been planted, trust even if it is only growing, and camaraderie. it is what I have craved for so long, as I slept my mind empty of all I worked to learn and study. it is my dream, served to me on a plate, and am I wrong to wish to indulge?" You ask as she simply shakes her head, nodding you continue your ranting and raving "But it is! for to get this, the men entrusted to me had to die pointlessly, their lives spent for nothing, no glory or victory, no point. And yet I receive my most dear desire for commanding them to their fate...it angers me, fills my heart with sorrow! but that does not at all compare to my fury at the fact that that fool"

Stomping your foot down, she jolts after a moment as you grin your teeth

"That imbecile killed my men and myself, because he simply did not understand war, and charged like a fool, wasting his own life and his men, who so outnumbered us! A WASTE! a tragic waste for both sides because of a fool meeting his better. And that is what so infuriates me! so saddens me! it breaks my heart and yet I am still happy!? why do I deserve to be happy after that failure" You roar as she remains silent

"Perhaps, it is the gods way of...showing mercy?" She says, trying to put her beliefs to explain the lack of punishment you face, the reward given. you just snarl at the thought despite yourself

"Mayhaps they did, but they've given me no boon before, but mother did. but" You say, still snarling as you close your eyes "from what vilith says, she and the world we've been thrust in to, what a dragon must be....I am not that, and I do not intend to change into it to survive. it worries me, as I can tell that only morgan could easily fit the description! Juliana, Dyer and yourself are like me! with hearts too clean to be...be that so easily"

She just smiles for a moment eyes narrowed

"Hardships change men, the strong endure" She says, still smiling

"I take it a god says that?" You say calmly "or one of their students? But what about you? Samara my dear sister, who has so avoided my questions and yet drank so deeply of my answers. Where were you? when we took Vilith's scepter and asked him to save us all? for I did not know any women of god were upon the field that day"

"What?" she says clearly confused "I...didn't hear of that"

"Baz?" Juliana says from behind you, sounding as if she's absorbed all of the pain from your heart. oh, yes of course she'd take hearing that worse than one taught to explain all ills away as acts of gods...it would be so, one as kindhearted as her couldn't fathom the cruelties you faced as you grew, let alone handle them. You were hoping she hadn't heard that.

"I told you about myself and how I am, I hope you can come to trust me" you say softly, calmly, wearing a brotherly smile on your face careful that it isn't showing your fangs "I want to know my new sister and I want to be there for her, for whatever troubles he. Anything you had in your past I can hear and say that I'll do my best to help you"

Samara remains silent as Juliana begins to try to speak but can for the pity she is feeling for your utterly poor upbringing, mangling every word she tries to say to comfort you.

"I'm sorry if you don't wish to say anything sister, its just" You say, breathing through your teeth as you try not to get swept up by Juliana's own over flowing emotions, which of course covering up will be the hardest part in teaching her "dragon manners" you expect "I wish to know you, the real you, before we are forced to pretend to be someone else like vilith and mother wants, so that we know at our hearts who our brothers and sisters are"

Her eyes widen for a second as if she just received a shock, judging from how her body jolted just now

"Baaaaazth" Juliana wails, finally finding her tongue again "H..how coould you get through all of that as niceth as you are?"

"I've deposited part of my burden on my new siblings, both of my sisters and of course our brothers will to hear of it when they return" You say proudly "it would be only fair to accept some of yours in return. Given the company we're about to enter as our new lives unfold, such comfort may be scare looking forward".

Her eyes shift between me and our sister as she bares her fangs and looks as if she's suffering from some kind of great conflict

"Follow me, and I'll tell you...and you alone, I don't want to make our dear sister cry anymore" She says through gritted teeth, shaking slightly

"If it makes you feel better alright, your words are only yours to give, I respect your choice But even as you've likely seen enough to know, I feel compelled to point out the hazards of secrecy or pain of exclusion" You say with a curt nod, sadly looking at Juliana as her expression falls, wordlessly showing her hurt before you look back to Samara "I just hope you come to trust her too, since if you're willing to tell me, I will not break that trust"

"So I will be alone then?" Juliana asks slowly as samara smiles and worldlessly trots away towards the open doorway through the hills of wealth

"Only briefly my dear sister, and thank you...for helping me in this trying time" You say, taking a moment to try and stand on your back legs to hug your sister, nearly falling against her before she catches your weight and barely holding it hugs you back, tightly.

"I am....sorry about" She tries to say as you shake your head

"Your kindness alone makes up for it" You say putting a wing down on her before you set off in an orderly march after your quieter sister "We will talk about my past if you wish when I return, though I'd prefer to speak of pleasanter things, like hobbies"

"I'll...be somewhere" She cackles happily as she bounds off to find something for herself to be entertained with no doubt

"Of course" You say dully as you try and follow Samara outside only for her to turn and stop and the door, her eyes following Juliana as she bounds deeper in to the horde of your mother.

"Aren't we going to walk outside?" You ask as she shakes her head

"the other two may come across us" She says dully "And what I say, is a dear secret of mind. that I only reveal because I respect honesty"

You raise an eyebrow, but say nothing more as she prowls closer to you

"For true honesty is such a rare thing, especially in raregar, everyone where's a masks and lies to try and crawl up society. No one is honest. Its truly heartbreaking, for me you see" Shes says, her voice changing pitch entirely, turning cold as she sighs "Sure, it is a different flavor but at the end of the day, the honesty you proclaim loudly is in the end the same kind as the one i hold so dear. To be honest to ones self, a true rarity to admit what you are"

She sits down and leans close enough to stare you in your eyes with only an inch or two distance between you and her.

"And yet it is the opposite, you who has suffered such ills and pains instead smile and admit all you want and desire is love, family. Something men of the blade always hide. You without any hesitation treat us, strangers as siblings. one may call it hopelessly naive, but...as you spoke, I almost understood you" She says calmly

"Which was a first for me. I listened, because you had cast aside the mask the world had placed on you, that you had carved with little hesitation if any. You even worried I'd suffer the same as you, you opened your heart, even though you should be terrified, you instead worry of these strangers who now share your blood"

"What are you saying, almost??" You try to question as she chuckles

"In all due time brother, see you made me realize you were more honest then myself, as you had no fear of any of us, and faced us as if we were old friends. it was confusing me, why? why would a man who led men into glorious death be so caring? so open hearted?" She asks, ignoring your attempted protest so completely as she grins widely "if he were not my opposite"

You try to speak again and she places a claw on your snout

"yes, I see that you have trouble understanding others in way similar to myself, or did not feel choice emotions as others did. the gods didn't make your head right just like they did with mine" She says "the opposite, or similar at least. and if I am wrong there, then at least in the fact you admit you are aberrant in the honesty you show and your seeming lack of fear of...all this"

"What?" you say, dumbfounded for the first time in years

"Okay enough poetics and ramblings I doubt my lord watches me, I will be blunt, brother" She sighs heavily "you truly wish to see the true me yes?"

You just nod, without thinking

"As you wish, I did not lie to you. I am a priestess" She says calmly "A priestess of more than one god, many some would say"

She moves her claw down your snout as she speaks

"RED HANDS!" She hisses as she clenches her fist, drawing her claw away from you with a smirk "Heart-eater, follows-you, face-thief. names you may not know, but names most turn their face away from in pale fear"

"But...then why were you at the battlefield?" You asks slowly

"Oh, I wasn't. I know not why that old idiot found the rest of you, but he came upon me while I was....giving my lords and ladies their dues" She says flicking one of her long claws "I have no clue how he found me. Considering how well I can hide myself, I almost thought you two had figured my deception out for a moment. but...no matter, if you're my opposite as an oddity, I shall tell you anyways. I am...in short what many close minded fools would call a serial killer, as my gods demand me to...ply my art and passion in such monsterous ways"

Oh. OH. oh. that is not at all good

"That I cannot seem to find at all distasteful, and you, work for no god and do kindness as if natural, finding distaste in killing. the opposite of myself! I see now! the second part of the play red-hand's has writ for me!" She gets uncomfortably close, eyes wide with madness now revealed "You are my shadow, the reflection! the second leading role! You slowly shake your head, feeling entirely lost by exactly what she means. Understanding what you think she means, but the mad aren't exactly known for thinking like others, and from what she said she seems to think she's an actor in a play maybe or....you are somehow her shadow? maybe these are theatrics terms she is using to sound poetic, but you aren't familiar with such things. her eyes narrow as you take a breath and let it out to clear your head enough to speak.

"I honestly, did not expect this revelation" You say politely, bowing as her eyes widen back to a more normal size as she watches you intently "Sister of mine. More threads to ponder in this tapestry we find ourselves in, I suppose"

"Oh yes, the scene before is most odd isn't it" She says, voice warbling slight as if she can't decide between giggling are talking as a refined lady should, sounding for a moment like the "fake" personality she had been using as a facade "So you will keep your word?"

"I will keep my promise, yes, so long as you do not harm the others or intend to" You say sternly as she nods, picking at her claws "though I suppose this means you will have little difficulty in following what the addled mage told us?"

"Oh heavens yes, I am already considered a heretic by my kin in my old life, so why not continue into the new?" She asks flicking her tail as she turns to the door "Besides of course threat of fiery death?"

"You can choose to change who you are" You say, somewhat hopeful as she smiles in reply

"Hardships change men, the strong endure" She repeats her early statement, now ringing much more grimly "I doubt either of us will change unless the other does first, otherwise the story would make no thematic sense! NO PATHOS!"

You sit there for a moment, before deciding that you did promise Juliana a talk like you gave samara, and do need some time to clear your mind and ponder this horrifying revelation. Besides, she deserves to have fresh air as well...and honestly you don't trust her to be alone in the "Wild" until she can learn to stop tangling or tripping over herself. but this has....complicated things.

I guess she can be trusted to bee herself, and I reckon she can be trusted to avoid putting Basil into situation where he’d be obliterated by something else than her, if anything, maybe to the point where she would go out of her way to protect our secrets from spilling to hostile ears. To ensure her nemesis is around to provide contrast for narrative of her hobby. Random bystanders are probably a fair game though.

Juliana has baggage if her own I guess. But she’s still sweet af.
>>
>>3280637
>Juliana has baggage

I would like to hear that, what she has done and how she truly is.
We opened up and got Samara to do it too for better or for worse(I wonder what part of our talk vonvinced her to open up) now os Juliana's turn, we should listen to her and confort her, we are not really that hurt like she tought we were(not really)
>>
>>3280615
>Can Samara be trusted?
I think in the sense that I'm pretty sure that we can trust her to behave in predictable ways and patterns once we've fully figured out her motives and beliefs, then yes I think she can be 'trusted'. However given what we know of her mind I suspect that while she will honor her promise at least for now, all it would take is for her to decide that the 'play' needs a betrayal in order to reach its 'proper' conclusion. In other words she's kind of achieved her wish by revealing her secrets, if we want to achieve our goals we're going to have to play her foil by constantly having to plot and manipulate events around her worldview on order to not have her reveal our secrets/betray us/kill us. Heck even if we at some later date end up having to betray/kill her wouldn't that be just perfect climatic twist to her bloody drama? The kind and caring man who's greatest goal was to have a loving and trusting family betraying or killing his dark sister.

>is Juliana purest cinnamon bun?
Sweet certainly but I think something like a soda would be more appropriate as she never seems to be still and "bubbly" is such an appropriate description for her.
She's refreshingly straightforward, maybe not the brightest bulb but seems to consist of nothing but honest joy and friendliness. Teaching her to even pretend to dragon is going to be hard.
Somehow we must protect that smile.

If I can recall correctly, there's not enough iron to behave as it can be corrodible since it's more like a microbe rather than the traditional iron outside your body.
>>
>>3281320
yeah I know, but its magic. Also turning all of the iron into your body into iron oxide at once would still kill you right? your cells make chemical changes to the iron to make it easier for them to use it to transport oxygen. If it became plain rust then your blood cells couldn't use that oxygen to oxygenate the cells that need it.

your right that it probably wouldn't solidify, but you might suffocate if your blood cells can't correct themselves first.
>>
>>3281362
That's fair, it is magic afterall, who says that there isn't a being who can with a glance turn people into rust. Hell we already have mythological creatures that can turn people into stone.
>>
>>3281370
The "It's magic" excuse has never sat well with me though, even if I sometimes use it. So here is some science stuff I cant remember half of. No longer defending the "Blood turning to solid rust" thing either, just the effect corroding iron in the body would have.

Your body uses iron to make hemoglobin, which carries oxygen through your blood. Your blood is read because some of that Iron IS rust. Dry blood turns brown because of the lack of water and the pigmentation of the rusting iron. So if we used our ability on a person it won't just rust their blood, but remove their ability to oxygenate their cells. like I somewhat said here.
>>3281362

>>3281410
I am really bad at retaining information and that still looks like too little actual science things but this isn't a science board.

>>3282947

>>
>>3281410
You are not taking into account inherent magical resistance of all sapient beings. Transmutation does not happen by itself, the effect is conveyed by a supernatural vector and as such is subject to soul’s morphic integrity. It’s not that easy to graft effects that leverage natural laws onto carriers that fundamentally bypass or violate those same mechanisms that keep universe in order.
>>
>>3281410
actually wouldn't that lead to oxygen saturation, as all hemoglobin is now saturated with oxygen. not to mention the fact that there is not be enough oxygen in the blood stream to bind to all the hemoglobin
>>
>>3283156
I was thinking it'd destroy the hemoglobin to create plain rust in the blood cells. If they can't remove the oxygen from the iron then it's just kinda there. Hemoglobin carries oxygen with the purpose of then using that oxygen elsewhere. Rust on the other hand is a crude molecule, not a purpose made chemical. So suffocation not saturation.
>>
>>3283257
I'm the same anon, just different device btw.
>>
>>3283258
Again, all of this is assuming that the corrosion we saw works on a single kind of chemical system. Hell, it may not even be on the atomic level. Just an interesting thought.
>>
>>3283257
depends on how the magic works is guess,
If it forcibly creates rust than the hemoglobin would have to be destroyed anyway since the globing proteins prevent the formation of rust in the first place.
>>
>>3283156
You're right about the oxygen though. I can't think of any other scientific way to replicate the effect it had on the hand mirror.
>>
>>3283297
Not that the hand mirror was iron but we saw instantaneous ( surface level at least ) corrosion of what I assume was silver. Guess the best argument for how it works is just that it's magic. Also, QM said we could upgrade it so there would have to be a way to corrode it further. Maybe multiple kinds of corrosion?
>>
>>3283314
well there is oxygen in the air, not so much in our bloodstream, which is why we need hemoglobin in the first place.
>>
>>3283318
Maybe it draws oxygen out of the air sure, but does that mean we can only corrode metals that are susceptible to oxidization? And if not then is it even an explainable system, or does the magic have some form of intelligence so it knows how to corrode a metal?
>>
>>3283361
every metal is susceptible to oxidization, some are just much resstant.
>>
>>3283482
I should have said vulnerable then. different device same anon... again...

Juliana, you realize, has an endless fount of energy buried inside of her somewhere, as you're pretty sure you have not seen her stop for a breath of air in any of the constant running and leaping for the last few minutes, which is simply impressive considering she was born a second time at most a day or two ago. But that isn't at all surprising compared to an observation you've made, that being that she is much more graceful while moving and twisting at a running pace, moving like a banner swung through the wind. Looks tiring, but it clearly isn't for her. Or maybe she's going to exhaust herself soon and she'll drop into a deep sleep.

You try to whistle, but can't seem to figure it out with your new mouth so instead just shout her name. She turns and stops, leaning her neck up as she stares at you, somewhat eerily silent. though that may just be from your perspective after learning....what samara is. yeah if you had to ponder a guess that'd probably be why her silence seems....foreboding.

"Baz?" She asks cheerfully, proving your theory right

"Sounds....odd" Juliana drones, taking her time to speak after a few moments of rocking her head this way and that "Like something old people would play, how do you play?"

You say happily and excitedly as you see all the energy and focus drain out of her eyes in but a moment as you begin to speak "My favourite author of such was a wander from tavern to tavern through the lands, writing absolutely biting and scathing satire on the local authorities until one of the minor nobles had thrown him into their dungeon, where he was sadly executed after sometime when the jailer saw him....having relations with his wife when she brought him his supper. truly a shame, as his mind was as sharp as his tongue"

"Uhuh uhuh" Juliana says nodding, before she realizes what you just said "Wait what?!"

"I just told you, its why attention pays its weight in time" You chuckle "And there isn't much else to explain, really"

Juliana stares at you, looking mildly horrified of your idle activities.

"That's...kind of sad?" She says as if unsure if its a tragedy you just told her "and that's whaart you like?"

"More or less, and now you?" you say nodding and pointing and upturned claw towards her. Her eyes widen as she takes a deep breath

It takes awhile for her to take in a large enough breath to say her piece, so you take a moment to get comfortable, taking the posture of a resting cat, the same way a your other, very much mad sister tends to sit from what you've seen.

Your more balanced, if bubbly, sister pulls her head back to the point you can see hergold speckled underbelly. Her neck and head are held straight up for a moment as she drinks in more air, before she suddenly whips both back down, nearly giving you a start as she opens her middle filled mouth and begins to speak. Unusually clearly! obviously she's used enough to repeating these things even her new body remembers the motions to speak of them.

"Gardening, baking, flower and bird viewing, swimming, diving for clams, morning running, singing, dancing specifically the emberlayn way, archery, embroidery even though the needle hurts my hands, pet rearing, sweet eating, swordplay, sword eating, I've tried to dabble in the theater but father wouldn't let me, then again he didn't like most of my hobbies, Oh also butterfly catching, fishing father really didn't like that one for some reason, oh! climbing trees fruit trees mostly" She says with such rapidity you'd think her voice could out run Last hunter herself if she somehow became mute "Poetry though I am not good at it, horse riding, playing with my cats, juggling and for a month once I tried to learn lock picking"

You wait for a moment as she takes a deep breath, leaning your neck closer to hear better now that you see she isn't done

"Besides that so long as it can hold my interest or looks fun, I'll probably try my hand at it for at least a day, which of course would bring me to my various whimsical endeavors that I just couldn't even become a dabbler in, like painting, embroidery as mother really forced me to do that one, cooking besides baking, dog raising as father was allergic, star gazing and cloud watching which the maid told me were fun but really weren't, proper raregarian waltzes, and many others like hunting or studying" She says just as quickly, letting out the rest of her breath in a shrill whistle as she collapses to the ground as if suddenly deflated "Dooouuh yew shargh ani?"

"Now that sounds more like the you I know" You tease as she looks confused for a moment, as you try and shift through the mass of hobbies and petty dalliances your sister enjoys, getting stuck on sword eating before you realize she means sword swallowing and have to pause for a moment to regain your bearings.

How do you answer
[] Sword play, morning running and swimming
[] Sword play, archery, horse riding
[] Sword play, poetry theater
[] Gardening, baking and fishing
[] sword swallowing? who taught you that
[] you can juggle and dance? I find that hard to believe
[] Odd choices, are you are of common blood or noble?
[] that would explain why you're a good fighter, you trained your body almost as much as I did! by the gods sister

[] Sword play, morning running and swimming
We can still do these, the swords with our tails probably.

[] Gardening, baking and fishing
And I would like tobtry these with her if she can, they seem like calm activities to relax with sis.

[x] Sword play, poetry theater
[x] what an eclectic combination. You really tried a lot of things.

What’s wrong with fishing though? Interesting

Why did her father hate fishing?
>>
>>3285522
She probably scared all the fish away with her energetic personality and her father came back empty handed.

We could try go fishing with her, we could probably catch them underwater

we could probably "swallow" a sword too, take one and slowly lower it into our mouth as we make it rust into nothing until it disappears, we would have to spit the rust after it but at least it would taste similar to blood right?
>>
"Odd choices" You say before you answer her question to you "Are you of common or noble blood?"

"Is a baron's daughter common blood?" She asks with a chitter which makes you flash a smile, she most certainly had more station than you despite your father holding a much higher office. could explain why it seems as though her family tried to push her gently to be a proper lady, you doubt many noble men would want their sons to marry juilana from what you've seen through your old life. And raregarians do love to climb as high as they can in society. though fishing is an...odd thing to try and dissuade.

"Some would argue it is" You say flippantly as you turn back to make sure no one is spying on the two of you for some reason you can't fathom "And to answer your question, Sword play, morning running and swimming, though gardening baking and fishing should be fun to learn if I can do them with you. they seem a good way to relax"

"Baking is surprising stressful" She hisses as she sits back up straight and proper "but of course baz! why not fish today! there must be a stream or pond nearbai, weeei could go thargh!"

"If mother doesn't stop us, I agree, it should be a lovely day for it" You say cheerfully as you swish your tail slowly, mostly out of caution "though your choice in hobbies would explain why you're a good fighter despite your size"

"oh ahnd what would thath be?" She says, speaking her usual sentence mangling pace

"You trained your body almost as much as I did! by the gods sister" you laugh as she makes a grimace, trying to decide if she should be complemented or insulted

"thanks?" She decides to reply, cheerful as ever as she lowers herself to the ground and begins to creep along "Now Halph me sneak out, so mother doesn't see us"

You can't help but glance over at the sleeping, massive frame of your mother a few yards away by your estimate. She must still be exhausted. No matter, still it'll take longer to fish if Juliana creeps the entire way there.

What do you do?
[] play along
[] scare her to see how she'd react
[] just tell her we don't need to, vilith said we may wander
[]Tell her to wait, you'd like to bring another one of your siblings along (and need to find them)
[] ask her about her cats, seeing as she seems to give more mind to them than her old family
[] A baroness, of what city?
[] You know, they say fishing is like flirting with maiden sea, same as sailing. Sailors are of an odd mind are they not?
[] ....wait you've never fished before have you?
[] write in

probably not gonna be able to run much longer, as I have errands to run today. may have enough time to update after them and before work. if not then I will certainly update for this vote after work.

"Oh yes of course, better keep quiet" You whisper as you drape yourself in your hanging wings trying not to show any sign of your amusement at her antics "but may I ask about your cats"

As expected she instantly perks up, eyes sparkling brightly as she visibly struggles to keep herself low to the ground and somewhat quiet.

"Oh well, I had plenty of cats" She says slowly, her voice cracking as she struggles to keep her voice low, quiet and slow "I'd always take in any I found, so home was filled with them...most of them longhairs, lovely things, so spoiled and sweet. each of them had a name and title and a little fief of the house, despite father's best efforts to...move them. I could go on all day about them, but we need to be quiet baz! remember?"

"Yes yes of course" you say barely holding back a laugh as she was much louder and talkative than you were just then, and no doubt she doesn't see the Hypocrisy or irony of her words, but it doesn't matter. It seems you'll become quite learned on matters of cats if you spend enough time with juliana.

"Yes, a barony ran by cats it seems but, which city did your family hold, if I may be so bold?" You say, wincing as you realized you had accidentally rhymed.

"Oh a city by the sea! not too far from the wineyard here, sitting upon a river. Sanditol, not a very known name, or a good one" She sighs as you know she's right, roughly it means fortress on the sand, which...isn't a good place for a fortress to be entirely honest "it wasn't pretty or anything, it was just kind of dingy and...fish smelly. But there were lots of cats...ponds to swim in, woods to wander, it was lovely but"

"You decided a legionarries life looked fun?" You ask as she goes quiet for a moment and nods before a look of realization spreads across her eyes

"BAZ! BE QUIET" She shouts angrily, flapping your wings as you straighten you back and smile cordially.

"Of course dear sister" You say calmly "were any of the cats generals by title?"

"Oh, Red-claw. Got him from a priest. he was the meanest and cutest little ball of fluff with ginger paws and..." She continues, giddly ranting about her dead companion as you listen on as you approach the worn stairs leading out of the nest, light and wind flowing through them like a summer rain. Lovely, it can only be a lovely day outside.

and we'll continue from here, sorry for the short session

Discussion point: which is haughtier? dragons or cats
>>
>>3286016
Cats, they are not even aware of their haughtierness, while dragons have to learn and force it to be respected

Thanks for running
>>
>>3286069
Well yes and no.
I mean to a cat haughtiness is just part of their nature, something that comes naturally. However at the same time because of this they are not concerned about maintaining it above personal pleasure. If you've ever dangled a piece of string for a cat or met one who enjoys belly rubs you will know that they will quite happily sacrifice dignity for enjoyment.

Dragons on the other hand while their haughtiness is learned it is also something they will maintain at all times.

Next session Sunday Monday or Tuesday at the latest, with high probablitly of consecutive sessions
