"-addy"

Ugh.

"Daddy wake up!" You open your eyes and see her. The bundle of joy that entered your world and made it a brighter place.

Rebecca.

"What time is it sunshine?" You grumble out, wiping the sleep from your eyes.

Rebecca puts her tiny fist on her hips and puffs out her cheeks. "It's 8 daddy, and you said you would take me to the zoo." You tousled her hair as you chuckle. She shakes her head and giggles.

"Just let me pop in the shower real quick ok. We'll be on our way."

You rise out of the bed, and step into the hall. The world around you collapses into darkness.

"It's time to wake up, son."

You blink your eye's bleary as you feel your monstrous form sting. Your skin feels as if it was rubbed down by red hot steel wool dripped in acid. You take in your new set of arms, almost human-like discounting the missing digits.

"You still there, or am I going to have to put you down?" A voice calls from above you.

You raise your skull and see the green form of Eidolon floating several feet in the air. Energy glows around his hands. In front of you is a gathering of several PRT troopers.

A low groan escapes your lips. "I'm still here... sadly." The cape seems to huff as he lowers his hands and the glow disperses.

"Yeah it seems you are. Well congratulations for the killing of the Simurgh, you've done all of mankind a service."

"Yay me."

Your deadpan did not effect him at all. "I'd like to ask you to join me and the rest of the Triumvirate for a press conference. It is up to you."

Eidolon explains to you that you will be accompanying him out of the city to where the press meet is being held. He talks you through it as you fly.

"We mopped up pretty damn quick after you took care of Simurgh. You were out for about an hour by the way. The reporters will ask simple questions such as how does it feel being the 'Endslayer', what's it like being a villain, life in Brockton Bay, Case 53 stuff. Quite a large amount of people want to know about you Famine." He makes air quotations when he says Endslayer. "We can offer you a briefing with one of our PR agents if you would like."

No matter how exotic human civilization becomes, no matter the developments of life and society nor the complexity of the machine/human interface, there always come interludes of lonely power when the course of humankind, depends upon the relatively simple actions of single individuals. The convoluted wording of legalisms grew up around the necessity to hide from ourselves the violence we intend toward each other. Between depriving a man of one hour from his life and depriving him of his life there exists only a difference of degree. You have done violence to him, consumed his energy. Elaborate euphemisms may conceal your intent to kill, but behind any use of power over another the ultimate assumption remains: "I feed on your energy."

The flesh surrenders itself. Eternity takes back its own. Our bodies stirred these waters briefly, danced with a certain intoxication before the love of life and self, dealt with a few strange ideas, then submitted to the instruments of Time. What can we say of this? I occurred. I am not . . . yet, I occurred.
There are problems in this universe for which there are no answers. Nothing. Nothing can be done.
Atrocity is recognized as such by victim and predator alike, by all who learn about it at whatever remove. Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating argument. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. It is self-perpetuating upon itself — a barbarous form of incest. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred This is the fallacy of power: ultimately it is effective only in an absolute, a limited universe. But the basic lesson of our relativistic universe is that things change. Any power must always meet a greater power. All proofs inevitably lead to propositions which have no proof! All things are known because we want to believe in them.

Noun. pseudointellectual (plural pseudointellectuals) A person who claims proficiency in scholarly or artistic activities while lacking in-depth knowledge or critical understanding. A person who pretends to be of greater intelligence than he or she in fact is.

Guys, should we consider telling people about the aliens thing here in front of reporters and national television? Or keep it to ourselves for now? Would Cauldron decide to THE GOYIM KNOW SHUT IT DOWN on us if we do so?

Gonna try to blend some options and shit here.

>how does it feel being the 'Endslayer'
"I knew Endbringers were a big deal, but I didn't expect to just eat one like that. Tasted like a mix of chicken, Tinkertech, and all sorts of metals I can't name. Definitely not as tasty as nazis or freshly-caught crab, I can tell you that much." Laugh. "I guess I'm still hungry for more."
>what's it like being a villain
"I'm not a villain. I protected the homeless against neo-nazis, and took out their drug labs and weapon caches. I make sure me and the people under me still have a place to sleep at the end of the day. At worst I'll accept a vigilante label if I have to." Shrug with all the arms. "I do help with the drug deals, but that's mostly me standing and staring at people. Never done any of the stuff myself, and I don't care to start doing so. And Skidmark is personally dead set on keeping kids drug free, so anything else you may have heard about that is a lie."
>life in Brockton Bay
"Taking out Empire 88 really made Brockton Bay a safer place for everyone, homeless or otherwise. Sure there's still the ABB and scattered villains here and there, but overall it's better. Not the best, but better." Look around at the reporters and smile. "On another note, I have more crabs than I know what to do with at the moment. I feel like opening a crab shack somewhere near the Boardwalk. Planning to name dishes after capes and Endbringers. See you there."
>Case 53 stuff.
"Well I woke up in an alley one day, got hungry, tried to find food. Some guys thought I looked hungry, wanted to get me something to eat, and that's how I joined the Merchants. I have everybody there to thank, taking care of me at my weakest and helping me to grow this strong. If they never found me in those alleys, I'd still be a wild beast with nothing but hunger. (insert dad joke here)" (insert dad laugh here) "I get visions of my past every now and then. I know for a fact I had a daughter, and I might have gone on an expedition somewhere cold and icy before I became this way. North Pole? Antarctica? I don't really know."
"But as for actually being a wendigo..." Hold up claws. "It's really hard to hold remotes and phones with these sometimes, and you bump into a lot of ceilings when you grow taller as you eat. No, the skull doesn't itch. Yes, the fur is real and I condition it. No, I'm not a fucking reindeer. And for the last time, my penis is not retractable - I just don't have one."
"Any other questions?"

"Alright, sure. I'll touch base with one of your agents." Eidolon nods as you touch down at the back of a building, where the front is absolutely swamped with news vans, capes, and the PRT.

He leads you through the back door, past a dressing room with numerous people running about, they all stand clear as you walk past, and into a small meeting room.

He pops his head out the door, shares a short word with someone in the hall. He steps out, and a man in a wifebeater, a Hawaiian shirt, and khaki cargo shorts steps inside.

The man takes off his aviator shades and looks up at you. "And here is the hero of the hour, hell probably for the next 10 years. Gimme some man." He puts his hand up for a high five, and you slowly smack it with your small arms.

This guy is just weird.

"Anywho, my name's James Tyson, PR Liaison for the PRT. One hundred percent honest, I was just promoted and probably the most under-qualified person here. The only reason I could see that they would send me to advise you is if they wanted to make you mangle this."

"I see..."

"Famine, there is no way this interview can go poorly for you. If someone asks something you don't want to answer, just say no comment. Feel free to steer the conversation however you wish. We have 5 minutes till we start rolling. Alexandria will start with a speech announcing what happened, and then you will stroll out on stage, shake hands, and the podium will go to you. Any questions?"

Tyson puts his feet up on the desk and stretches. He pulls out a flask and takes a sip.

>Please roll me a d20 for how the speech and interview goes.

>Fur touch. "No homo"

>>3284345
You stand off to the side of the stage, concealed by the curtain. Alexandria in her ebony armor speaks into the microphone at the podium.

"In 1992, on December 13th, mankind was faced with an enemy the likes we have never faced before. The first of the Endbringers began walking the Earth that day, and spread terror and blood in it's wake. One after the other, they plagued humanity with their monstrous power. The world had started to decay with their efforts. While we were not driven to the brink, we been forced closer and closer with each passing year." She takes a breath, and you can tell she is smiling due to her mask. "Today, that all changed. The Simurgh arrived in Canberra, and instead of the simple breaking even that happens on the best of circumstances, the impossible has become the reality. On today, the villain Famine of Brockton Bay has defeated and killed the monster known as the Simurgh."

The crowd explodes into applause, and Alexandria turns towards you. That's your cue to walk out. You close the distance quickly and shake the woman's hand. Her grip is stronger than yours.

You finish your walk to the podium, and tower over it, even with your slouch to be close enough to the mic. The crowd is dead silent.

You've winged things this far, speeches and public speaking are simple. "This was my first Endbringer fight, and I have full intention to participate in more. I'd like to first offer my solemn condolences to the city of Canberra, and the many capes and civilians that have lost their lives here today. Despite the losses being minimal, it is important that we remember those that have suffered before we jump to the idea of celebration." Your deep rasp fills the room, resonating across the walls.

You clear your throat before you continue. "Two more of the beasts continue to walk the Earth, and none of us should rest till we can all sleep easy at night with them gone. I am now open for questions from the crowd."

The mass of people erupts into action, all chattering as many try to force their way forward with microphones in hand. One catches your attention. You beckon him with a point of a claw.

"You."

"Famine, what is it like to be regaled as the Endslayer?"

"I remain the same man I was, I still hunger. People have forgotten that nothing is eternal, not even the Endbringers. Next."

A woman in red dress asks the next question. "What is it like being a villain at an Endbringer fight, or a villain in general?"

"I received some glares on my way here, but once the fight started we were all united in one singular purpose, the end of the Simurgh. My family, the Merchants...

>Cont.

"Are composed of the poor and the downtrodden. We are ostracized because of the conditions of our poverty and birth. Many of them fell in with us because the only other choice was death, or Nazis. Next."

A buff man with balding hair steps forward. "Now Famine, how is life in Brockton Bay. It holds the record in America for the highest rates of capes per person, as well as having high rates of poverty and murder."

"Brockton Bay was left circling the drain after Leviathan devastated the shipping industry. The All-Father began his league of Nazis, and Lung leads the Asians. With the destruction of the E88 at my hands, Brockton has a chance. The Merchants have plans to put people back to honest work, starting with my own Crab restaurant. We provide housing and food to the cities extremely large homeless population, and offer them a means of work with our illicit sales. The most I do besides the protection of our people is stand in a room looking tough while two men exchange bags. I have a great deal of attachment to Brockton Bay and the Merchants, for they took me in when I doubt anyone else would. Next question and last."

One more, a strange hippy looking man catches your attention.

"Care to speak on the struggles and life of a Case 53 cape, Famine?"

"I woke up in a body that was unfamiliar and strange, cold, hungry, and dirty in an alley. I ran for a while, till stumbling across the first man I met. He took me to Skidmark, and I've been with them since. I have flashbacks occasionally... of whatever life I had before. All I remember was my daughter Rebecca, and brief glimpses of other things."

The room was constant alight with snapping cameras through the interview. You stroll off the stage and are left to your own devices.

After a brief period of raiding the snack table, you are approached by Strider.

"Hey man, you can head back with me now and I'll drop you off back at Brockton Bay. If you like you can stay for a bit, and I'll come by for you sometime later. Also" He claps you on the shoulder. "You have one free teleport on the house, Endslayer." His grin is wide across his face.

I never really considered that happening. But then again considering that Shadow Stalker was brought into the Wards and later Skitter, shit why wouldn't the Protectorate try and recruit the guy who ate an Endbringer in his first fight?

You let Strider know that you'll be spending a few hours here, which he replies to with a thumbs up and a wide grin. Heading outside you are swarmed by many of the capes that were in the fight with you.

Thus begins the Cape Pub Crawl of 2011, the celebration that caused a great deal of damage, almost a much as Simurgh did. Thankfully to you, it was not that much.

You are practically dragged to a pub by Kayek-man and several other Australian capes along with many from across the world. The bar had received good warning of what was going to hit them, as had many in the area. Drinks were pushed your way by many a men with the simple order "Drink up cunt.".

You were never one to be rude.

Before long the entire party of well over 100 is fully tankered, and then Kayek-man lets out a mighty cry.

"To Famine, the Endslayer." The cheers shake the walls. Accidental power usage trashs the pub, and once the music system is destroyed people begin to stagger down the street to a new pub, where a gathering has already started. With Kayek-man and you leading, more drinks flow one after the other.

Before long the entourage has collapsed into deep slumber, no doubt going to be cursing their burning livers in the morning.

Strider blinks into existence in front of you where you sit outside the pub, head spinning. He looks you over, sniffs, and says.

"Let's get you home hero."

He 'strides' across the world. First a wide field, a top the ocean, a busy street, then right outside the Freighter you call home. You blearily look up to see him shake hands with Skidmark as the drinks catch up to you. Skidmark looks down at you, wide grin upon his face.

"Did you start the party without us man? You cocksucker." He nimbly jumps out of the way of your vomit.

The last thing you remember is someone saying "Someone get Famine a shot and a blunt." After that it is all gone.

So we got a 96 for the Crab Shack so that means we got a strong start. We got ideas for dishes we can do based off of Endbringers and famous capes. But where is the Crab Shack going to be located? How big will it be? Will we have a bar? What's the aesthetic theme?
I was thinking we could open up either on the Boardwalk or some place in the E88 territory to spite their remaining members. Speaking their remembering members, I wonder what Kaiser's family feels about us, where where did that giant lady go? We could get some help from the drop out art college students and other artists in the Merchants for a rustic theme? Some mismatched furniture and utensils because Merchants = hobos.

SPEAKING OF! COOL ENDBRINGER CONCEPT:

Alias: Hofvarpnir

Purpose: Elimination of alien influence/countering alien agents

Designation: Mover/Shaker 10+, Trump 6, brute 2, Thinker 6

A crystalline centaurian approximately 10 feet in height. It is capable of movement in any direction, ignores inertia, and can reach immense speeds in an instant. It appears to be immune to most Master powers, possibly due to its alien nature, and is like all Endbringers composed of a homogenous material increasing in density and resistance as proximity to the core increases. Spatial rifts are strategically opened in a wide area around it, allowing for both redirection, movement and offense. Rifts have been observed culminating in space, deep ocean trenches and even other realities, spewing pressurized jets of water, sucking nearby objects and defenders in, or displacing strategically important equipment and capes. The Hofvarpnir never stops moving, galloping through the sky in bizarre and unpredictable patterns, frequently utilizing its invisible rifts to make itself a more difficult target. Its ability to accurately predict and intercept unseen projectiles and approaching capes over vast distances has earned it a Thinker 6 rating. It also projects an aura that forces immaterial projectiles and forms into the physical realm within a 20 meter radius.

Specifically made to counter Famine, it is an extremely mobile, indirect threat, bending space to its whims to avoid his iconic scream.

>the fuck

you know how the PRT classifications work right? its not about how strong the power in question is, but rather how dangerous it is to fight/how
much damage it can do. An invunerable baseline human is still classed a low brute since a few schmucks with containment foam can take him out. Hofvarpnir wouldnt have any abnormal physical characteristics beyond its standard endbringer durability and its speed, which is covered under mover. The warrior entity would be operating under the assumption that melee=scream=ded, and thus wouldnt waste any power on improving Hofvarpnirs physical abilities.
>>
In case you guys were wondering about where I've been, I'm in training for my new job right now for the rest of this week. It's been kicking my fucking ass, but hell, more money and less hours. Once training is all said in done I'll have more time to QM

>The warrior entity would be operating under the assumption that melee=scream=ded, and thus wouldnt waste any power on improving Hofvarpnirs physical abilities
>So it fucking dies to Eidolon after he puts on some mover powers, and then chases it down and kills it with a Blaster power
>Or after Legend and Alexandria rip it to tiny pieces.
Zion is dumb, but he's not that dumb. He's not going to make an Endbringer melee-incapable without having another one show up to protect it, like Tohu and Bohu do.
Hopfvarpnir could at the very least kill people by ramming into them. That would give it a good Brute rating.
>>
>>3299045
well seeing as it creates myriads of invisible portals to lethal hellscapes and alternate realities charging it is pretty much a death sentence even if you can fly. I suppose Eidolon could bullshit himself into getting some kind of spatial detection thinker power but if he could adapt powers that specific he’d have insta’d the other endbringers with brute/flechette-esque power combos long ago. No, it lacks a high brute rating because it doesn’t need to get close to wreak havoc on the general population. Besides, Eidolon can’t even chase down regular fleeing endbringers. I doubt that he’d be able to follow Hofvarpnir when it decides to fuck off to earth-twohundredseventyeleven AKA big barren fucking rock where life never emerged.
>>
>>3299174
The point I'm trying to make is that Brute 2 just isn't enough for an Endbringer.
>its not about how strong the power in question is, but rather how dangerous it is to fight/how
much damage it can do. An invunerable baseline human is still classed a low brute since a few schmucks with containment foam can take him out.
Guess what, an Endbringer can't be contained with foam. It's a lot more dangerous than a human. Having bullshit durability is Endbringer 101.
Therefore, no Endbringer is going to be at Brute 2; Brute 7 at the minimum for being huge and tough.

Could we suggest Abbadad to turn our AI friend into Conquest?
Give him the highest thinker level we can, specializating into assimilation, processing, and study of information, developing plans, strategies and countermesures to CONQUER THEM ALL, and some levels into Master/tinker so he can generate a swarm of self replicating using them to create avatars, weapons, structures... (ASSIMILATE/ANALIZATE/EVOLVE).
As a downside, he could have a "berserker" state (like Famine) when he generates too many nanites or processes to much information (Warning/Sistem's overload detected/uploading SkynetReeee.exe)
About his trigger event, it could happen the first time he enters the internet, gets powerdrunk and traumatized with all the data and starts acting like pick related.
>>
*specializing (fucking phoneposting)
>>
>>3304993
Conquest and War sound pretty close hand in hand, and he's already sent his shard to Africa. If he hasn't seen fit to give his War shard to GL1T3H then he's probably not gonna do it later.
>>
>>3304993
Glitchy Boi can probably already do the stuff you mentioned without needing a shard's help, and probably even without that downside.
>>
>>3305578
A.I.'s typically do not start off with shards, but they are capable of triggering just like Dragon. That's how it went right? Hopefully or not since Triggering kind of sucks depending on context GL1T3H will trigger at some point in the future.
I wonder what his shard would be. Perhaps once we collect enough shards and get a better understanding of our artificial friend, Abbadad might consider giving him a shard. Maybe not Death, but it could be something interesting.
>>
>>3305611
Admittedly it would be interesting but since he's capable of so much already I think it would be a waste of his potential to give him a shard and potentially locking everything he does to be related to a singular ability.

We should get some shapeshifting powers for Famine, not Mystique level, just enough to recover a human form, and our face, and our dick if possible. It could be useful for researching about our past and our daughter, making Rebecca (Alexandria) have a flasback about us, etc. Also, make it develop progressively, looking monstruous at first (pic related) and getting better as we train it (cont).

Gonna have to disagree with you on the dick. We don't exactly need one and if someone see's a big ol deer dick waving around you bet your sweet ass someone is gonna go for it. So far as far as any of us know, no Shapeshifting power option has presented itself yet, and I doubt getting shapeshifting = we know what we used to look like. That's just my guess though.

Try to put it to a vote of you want but arguing for how you want the character to grow and story to unfold, a story someone else is currently writing, isn't all that great. Accept that other people may not want what you're selling or you're never going to get what you want

You awaken later, cradling your head in your hands. You learned something, something devastating.

You still get hangovers, it just takes quite a bit.

Groaning as you rise, you see Red just outside your door. In his hands is a steaming cup of coffee. He quickly presses it into your hands upon seeing the look on your face.

"Here man, you definitely need this." You gulp down the scorching brown liquid.

"We don't have much to do today. Everyone is nursing dying livers at the moment."

>>3284788
You sit at the foot of your bed, and pet Cujo, rattling his armor.

"I want to make a crab shack." You say out of the blue.

Red slowly sips his own coffee. "Aight... Guessing we're gonna use any extra crabs we catch."

"Yep. I want it either on the Boardwalk, or somewhere else on the shore."

Sip.

"Did you hit your head last night man, just wondering." Red chuckles, and then goes silent when seeing your deadpan.

"We can provide legal employment, PR, and it's a good way to launder money." He nods his head as you point out some positives.

"Well considering you're a rich man as of now, funds would not be a problem. We can get it done man, just give us the plans."

>With that roll of 96, making the shack and starting it up will go easily. (please let me know where you want it to be, will you be hiring Merchant's only or other Brocktonites, etc)

It will take about 2 weeks for the total construction, permits (as if), and getting the cooking equipment, and other tasks.

Would you like to spend some of the time in these 2 weeks.

So Steve we can do with some trial and Error, and maybe ask him some vague questions that may eventually lead to Abbadad.
For the Hunting I figured we could possibly do an open proclamation we paint on a building or some billboards:

As the week passes you make some appearances at your new Boardwalk property. Many people tense at your presence, but relax once you make some small talk with a Merchant wearing a hard hat at the construction site. Made in traditional crab shack fashion, it's a simple exterior.

(Back at base)
You spend some time training with Steve. The major hurdle is getting him to let loose, and embrace the power he was given. Having him dodge and teleport with his ghosts while you attempt to eviscerate him help his reaction speed, and with an accident you find out he has advanced healing in his breaker state. As a part of his training Skidmark has him break down the garbage and refuse of the base, Steve mentions something along the lines of "Feeling like something inside is filling up."

>Steve ROT- 5/10

You put some afternoons tracking down Coil, and you got close. You knew he was based in Downtown, and saw fit to make some enthusiastic walks down the streets.

However before you make any actual headway, a speeding van rounds a corner and smashes into you. The metal construction pins you between it and a brick wall.

>-25 VITALITY
>-30 HUNGER
>+25 VITALITY
"GAA-" A rasp comes out of your throat, as the van presses against your waist. Several black armor wearing men pile out of the van, and begin to rapidly fire red lasers into your pinned form.

>-80 VITALITY
>-40 HUNGER
>+35 VITALITY

The quarter sized hole wounds that were shot into you smolder, and are slow to heal.

"A hair-net?! The fuck is that gonna do?!"

"That thing looks ridiculous and I will not put that on!"

"It's this or you take the B"

You shadowshift through the van, and raise an arm to sweep the closest soldier. Just before your claws touch him, you feel the sensation of being ripped in half, and pulled down a tube.

You're walking down the street again, right before you were hit by the van. A man in black armor approaches you and hands you a folded piece of paper.

You reach out and grasp the paper, with a quick unfold you see it is mostly blank, besides small text the center inside a spiral pattern.

I LEAVE YOU BE.

YOU LEAVE ME BE.

I'LL BE OUT OF BROCKTON IN A MONTH.

You fold up the paper and look at the soldier that is walking away.

"Hey." The man turns around. "Try not to crash a van into me."

The man puts a finger to his temple, and quickly jogs off.

That seems to make Coil taken care of... seemingly.

The day has come. With a quick snip of your massive claws, the red ribbon falls to the ground. Cameras snap away, flashing light across the wooden front of your new business.

You think Red fired off a party popper as confetti flutters in the air. You shake hands with your crew of employees as dinner rush begins, and the mass of people that were waiting anxiously outside are slowly funneled in by the hosts. They are led to their tables, and pick their orders.

In the kitchen it is a flurry of activity as freshly cleaned Merchant's in white chef garb prepare dishes. On one burner a cook is sauteing onions and garlic, and on the other a boiling pot of crabs bubbles away. Small dipping cups of butter sit under a warmer to melt, and crab cakes rise slowly in an oven.

You stand in the server's station, direction orders as food is being brought to tables. A massive family platter is carried past you with corn on the cob, lemons for garnish, and grilled russet potatoes.

The entire building smells of amazing food.

You crack open a can and sip down some beer in the manager's office as you watch customers and employees rush away.

It feels good to be good sometimes, not like the beat up bad guys... but the making a difference kind of way. Making jobs, families bringing their kids to eat out, and filling bellies... feels good.

(Note to self, do not write food sequences late, makes me hungry like a motherfucker.)
