The mouth of your daughter tingles at their ends, barely suppressing the anger within herself. It's all the more visible with how hard she's trying to look nice: neatly dressed in a business outfit and wearing a welcoming facade that's crumbling down by the strenuous minute. As if to emphasize her disgruntled state, a strand of hair— which her color is shared with Ana, blonde— pops out of place; it loomed over her right eye, going rogue from where the rest of her bangs are parted and pinned. You, however, sport a mocking smile, gazing down at Beatrice with a playground pride. Ana stands at your side, mirroring her mother's expression; but it isn't quivering out of sheer annoyance at your audacity, it is due to fear of what Beatrice could do to you right now.

"Hello, Darling! It's been quite a while since we last spoke face to face! Come here and give this old man a hug!" Your arms open to embrace Beatrice. She humors you, wrapping around and under your shoulders with a tight hold. You may have felt your spine crack a little.

"Beatrice? I knew that we were going to see Mister Williams, but you could've slowed down. I was swept away by the crowd!" Kenta shows up; sensing the malevolent aura that his wife is exuding, he freezes up like Ana. If he wasn't shivering as much, his build would have been clearly distinguished: average, but the only person who matches your height at 1.8 meters. Different than his meek personality, he holds a youthful visage— if Kenta acted with more assertive confidence, he'd be more in your favor... Nevertheless, he did take up your daughter in marriage; or the reverse, to be more precise. Beatrice's power over the bespectacled boy makes him out to be the woman in the relationship, as comical as it is.

A hum escapes you, furthering the smug air that's brought forth. It pricks at Beatrice in a way that a singular eye twitches, provoked without an explicit word. "It is good to see you... both. But I really want to get settled right away. I'll come— or call, who knows— when I'm done unpacking at my property here. I'll be honest, I never thought that I'd buy a piece of land, let alone two, in Japan."

"Spare me the details," added the businesswoman.

"Hoho~ If you say so. Then I'm off!"

The hand of Ana is taken by yours. Beatrice defies you on it, swiping her right. The girl that's chained between the two of you stands in confusion, going to and fro in a rhythm. Her pupils are swirling at the motion, a picture that's adorable under different contexts.

"Ana, I have a favor to ask you. The trip here has left me awfully exhausted, and it would be so nice if you came along to help. And before I forget, there's something I want to give you once we're done..." A wink is given to the sundress girl, complimented by a devilish smirk that transformed itself from a modest grin. Beatrice sees this as well, her own "pleasant" beam growing in ferocity.

Ana gets the hint; you haven't exposed her to magic since the telephone call. That day with the golem encounter and when you burned a flower in front of her was the only episode where she beheld your wizardry. "Mom, I think it's fine for me to come with Grandpa. He is old, you know."

"I think not. He's fine as he is, and I doubt that you can lift a box full of marble figures, or what else he brought with him," was Beatrice's reply.

Kenta raises a brow, nervously. With all the courage he can muster, he extends his reach to touch his wife's shoulder. "We can always pick her up." At the mention of who he's siding with, she rotates her head to him in monstrous conduct. Kenta goes on, despite what he's facing, "Mister Williams would, no doubt, look after her. He means no harm and Ana's raring to go. It's still her break from school, so she has to have some freedom with us."

Beatrice mellows out upon pondering her husband's words; biased to his suggestions. "Okay, Honey~ However," she says, switching back to you, "if something's suspicious going on, or if Ana gets hurt, I'll make up what Mother left unfulfilled and give ya hell. Understand?"

"Yes, yes." Unconcerned, you usher your granddaughter to hide behind your figure. Beatrice lets free of her threatening disposition, joining Kenta respectively. Before she goes off on another tangent, your son-in-law does you mercy and brings her into his chest, replacing the rest of her anger with lovey-dovey joy; purrs induced. Kenta waves goodbye whilst taking your daughter, returning to their house. For a second, you yourself were changed to be angered by his act. But you reckon that it's for the better.

"Grandpa, I've got everything done!~" Most of today's morning and noon was occupied to help you unpack; luckily, your other mansion in Shiyouhama has been prepared in advanced, built within a nearby forest— a thick one at that. Any explorers would have a hard time finding it, as treading through the natural barrier is impossible without knowledge of the right path, a knowledge that you only hold.

Ana twists her ankle childishly, arm held behind her own back as she awaits her award— like how any kid does, excluding her sixteen years of age that would entail better maturity. "S-So... What were you going to give me?"

The impact of a huge column colliding with the floor makes Ana jump. In the tall stack are old texts and records made by a myriad of scholars, their pages disheveled and out of place; each cover varies from wood-like to a velvet leather that may or may not been stolen from a cult or two. Regardless of their origin, they're just books of magic's basic theories— if Ana's grades have anything to say about it, it's that she'll get it. Somehow, in one way or another.

Carefully, the golden-haired lass picks out a book from the collection like a game of Jenga. Skimming through the pages piques a profound interest, leading her to read it for a second time— in addition to the rest of them— with a studious mind. Not wanting her legs to go numb, you gentle push her into a chair while you go elsewhere.

Evaluating the carpenters' work upstairs, you go out into the balcony to watch over the mansion's neighbors; the vicinity of the suburbs are separated by a few streets, nevertheless, you're still part of it. Seiun isn't within view: "How does Ana get there..." you wondered.

Traversing down to the latter floors, you revisit the room where you left Ana. The journals are sprawled all around, your granddaughter surrounded at the feet of her chair, knees tucked inwards as she reads. On the table that centers the whole compartment, is a sheet of paper; markings are crudely drawn on it, and in its center is a burnt hole. "You've already gone and done something? Casting fire, I presume?"

Ana straightens her neck, taking notice of you. "U-Uh, yeah!"

"Can you replicate the spell? By chanting, please." Per your request, Ana points out her index finger to begin the process. A small flame is made, levitating just over her pointed digit. Gradually, it grows in volume until you command your granddaughter to dispel it, disappearing when it almost touched the ceiling.

"Sorry! I didn't know that it'd become so big!"

You pat her head. "It's mighty fine. 'Twas your first time chanting. You probably fed the fire too much mana, but that makes me question how you did such. If a caster used the world's supply of magical energy, then the spell's effect would be constant no matter who the person is. He or she would need to conduct more energy into the effect for it to become stronger. Not you, apparently."

"I was supposed to do that?" Ana said, surprised.

"You... didn't?" The teenager shakes her head. Confuzzled, you pick out a journal from an untouched pile, those that Ana has yet to explore. The pages blow a minuscule gust of wind as you flip through; founded, you display its contents to your granddaughter, showing her the instructions of the practice you just spoke of.

In reaction, Ana turns to a previous number in the book that's presently in her hands."It said that I can use my internal supply of energy. Was I not suppose to use that?"

"My internal capacity of mana isn't usable. But you, however, seem to have a gift!"

"I-Is that so? Never would've thought that I had this kind of power... Do you think that I can be like one of those shows? A witch? A magical girl?!" A sparkling countenance upheaves from the depths of Ana's soul.

You ease her down to stifle her excitement. "With enough effort, you could. Though, you're far from those silly animations. Time and discipline, I must remind." Ana stares at her palms, clenching them in a determined gesticulation. Endeared, you stay with her for a while to properly elaborate on magical theory, elucidating most of its core concepts: conjuration and evocation, channeling, and basic spell composition.

The clock elapses enough for Ana's parents to come rolling by. Your whereabouts are distinctive within the neighborhood, Beatrice and Kenta able to pinpoint your location despite having no address to this home. Their faces exhibited amazement of the manor's construction; they knew about a construction project a week prior, but they didn't anticipate that this will be the result.

"Ah, Mom and Dad' is here?" The afternoon sun lit up Ana's locks in a warm flare while she queried.

To not leave your daughter waiting, you bid Ana farewell, telling her that she's free to come by at any time. Beatrice walks up the initial steps of your door's porch, inspecting any suspicious deeds that you might've done— to which you deny. Upon the relief that she turns back, you glance at Kenta who waves a small motion. A scoff is let loose, expression placid. Discouraged, he shifts his attention to his daughter, catching the sundress girl into his arms before laying her on the ground again.

The car that they drove in coursed within the villa's huge yard, passing through the gate and into the suburban street; all the while, you look at the vehicle's movement till it's obscured by the block of houses on its first turn. Absence is realized when a breeze invades the enclosed space before you, its howl whispering. Free to yourself, nightfall is patiently awaited so you can see to your second manor.

A path is made in the basement; digging through the unused boxes, you uncover the fitting tools to link your properties together. On the ground, chisel and chalk set at your knees, you complete a giant circle that extends from the left-most wall to the right. You clap your palms to rid them of white dust, cleaning up before activating the countless sigils that engraved by your shoe's soles.

The projected formula delivers you to a forest. If you look behind yourself, you can see the city nearby. Continuing, you make way for the wood's mansion, kept secret by the workers who you hired. The plot is just big enough to encompass the structure, retaining cover beneath the canopy; excluding a part of the roof, leaves pierced by the chimney.

The inside wasn't any different than the first. You brought with you your villain's disguise, setting its case on a laboratory desk. Every item that has been shipped from Britain is where they should be: your clay tablets, Nordic stones, Latin artifacts and so forth.

Although the forested barrier that hides your lair is a maze to get through, the possibility of someone finding this place out should not be glossed over. To prepare for this probability, you make a golem from out of the mansion's dirt; artificial monsters that are crafted from soil— or materials that are just as weak— are usually low tier in terms of a wizard's security, but with enough power put into it, and sufficient programming inside its core, it can be on the same level of those that are made out of stronger metals.

Outside, you dig a moderately sized hole that's just as deep. You exchange a shovel for a big rock, millions of tiny words written into its surfaces. It is to be placed into the hole and buried, followed by a long string of words to "activate" the stone. Doing so, you take three paces backward. The site where you tinkered with upheaves itself into a mound. Then, into a bulky shape of a humanoid; it doesn't possess any features as a living being, as its only a bound mass of dirt, granted with basic intelligence.

You issue an order for it to guard this mansion. The golem drones in a series of low pitches, morphing into the hole that it came from. It'll be ever-present in that spot, attacking anyone that dares approach your laboratory.

Assured that your territory is safely protected, you venture into a new, foreign sea of light. The core of Shiyouhama is lively at any hour, so says Ana. And it seems to be true with how active each member of the populace is throughout the city, near the port or not. Lesser buildings are overtaken by goliath-sized towers, making it harder to trail across the rooftops. Nonetheless, the obstruction is a great game for a bored man like you, weaving in and out of steel beams and pillars. The cover of night is unchanged, a standard that you're thankful for.

"Stop there!" Abiding by the voice's command, you come face to face with a ninja. Her uniform blends into the surrounding area, but unlike Cateye— whose palette is a plain, unintelligent black— the specimen's dark-blue coloration makes it hard to see. The only article of her outfit that can be easily seen is her bandages, wrapped at the ankles, up the fingers, and her... chest, you think. It's flat— a boy if your assumption is right.

"A kunoichi?" you guessed, barely versed in Japan's culture, let alone the correct terms that apply to this personage.

"... You're not from around here, are you?" she or... he questioned, his tone now faint; you have to concentrate at the ears to hear him.

"Are you a boy or a girl? Your voice is too low, besides from your first call, and you seem to lack a rack." The ninja goes silent, in turn, as do you. The air tenses up, your singular company registering your inquiry at a slug's pace— absolutely stupefied. She pats her chest; a loud growl of frustration is sounded from her upon feeling nothing but two undefined mounds that stack up to sheer flatness.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?! I'm a woman! A girl! A pair of useless mammaries means nothing!!!" You must've cracked at her pride, as she's persuaded to attack you. Tears stream from the kunoichi's eyes, wiping them away after you dodged her daggers' blades. What appeared to be a serious bout develops into a female's fight for retribution, edged tools flying through the air for they are to harm her provoker. "Stay still! I mustn't leave you alive!"

"Why's that, Lassie?" you return, accompanying it with a tease. "The smaller the being the greater its irritability, it seems~"

You tap the end of your cane onto the ground. The kunoichi's surprised expression tells you that she doesn't know about magic, which is fine. Or even better, you'd say.

The cement from under her latches onto the feet and wrists. Seeing that she's shackled, you move to her without the burden of worry.

"How do you like the trick?" you say to the caught specimen, but it results into nothing. She ignores your pleasantry, trying to break the restriction that's put upon her. "I see. No, I understand~ I wouldn't be as cooperative if I was in your situation," tapping your cane on her forehead playfully, "But, I have my ways for you to talk..." You wave globule of fire near her face; the kunoichi doesn't steer.

"Do it, you demon! Becoming scarred is better than withstanding this dishonor!"

Amused, you put away the flame for a different approach. Her determined stare swiftly progresses into bewilderment, fearing something even crueler. "You know, I have some knowledge of engorging charm as well. Perhaps, I could offer you a small service while you're struggling? Well, it'd be a big service, or at least a bigger service than your current service."

"What?"

"You heard me right, Ma'am. Don't fool yourself."

"It's not that hard of a choice, Miss. You're already thinking about it, so you might as well come to a conclusion soon. The possibility of full womanhood is right in front of you; of course, I have no say in your own matters, but this is an opportunity nonetheless."

The tightly-clothed woman speaks out in utterances, finally articulating a comprehensible answer. "I-I don't need 'em!"

"Do you?— Cause that answer of yours is quite unsure. You may need them to be kept small since you rely on your agility, a little deduction after our brief scuffle. Though, I just happen to have some sort of odd sense that you're interested... Tell you what. We meet here at the same time tomorrow night, yes? If you really never wanted a proud rack, then you'll just avoid the appointment for something else that's better worth your while."

Your captured friend is stunned, long quitting her struggle for freedom. Opposed by a personal dilemma, the offer bounces around in her head, unable to be discerned as trickery or truth.

By simply observing how her eyes wander, you get the memo. It doesn't take a lot to foresee her decision on this, especially with a personality like hers: explosive and manipulatable. Not that you have an ulterior motive to control her.

"Well, I have to go now. I'm getting on in years, see. And I get tired more easily than I was a young man. I'll see you when I see you. Have a good night."

Leaving, the kunoichi picks up her voice, a mix of threats and pleads following you. Feeling sorry for the woman, you release her, but not until you're at a safe distance.

Alone, she takes advantage of this recess to contemplate her choices thoroughly, free from the humiliation that you inspired. "... Wh-Who needs such a thing. Right?" consequently patting her chest again out of self-pity.

Mornings dawns. You have exacted your daily rituals, reclining into a lavish armchair in the second floor's parlor. A hot kettle full of tea and a supplementary cup sitting on a stand, ready for your expense, Ana's attendance is awaited.

Down the street where your mansion ended, you see Ana being accompanied by two other kids her age. A soft-eyed boy and a common, black-haired girl; the former towered over both members. Squinting your eyes at the granddaughter details a guilty look.

Meeting them at the gate, you let Ana pass, asking the other two of their identities. "Who are you, and what is your relationship with my grandchild?"

The black-haired girl steps up to greet you, the boy mimicking the action. "Pleased to meet you~ I am Nakahara Hiroko. This is Morishima Katsuo."

"They were surprised that I came back from Britain so early, Grandpa. And I thought to introduce my friends to you when I had the chance," Ana mentions. "I hope it isn't too much trouble."

Minding the grandaughter's explanation, you let this slide with a little warning. "It's fine to bring friends," you said, in a whisper, "But I prefer it if you gave me a heads up in advance so I can entertain more than one guest."

"I thought so. Haha," laughing sheepishly while fanning herself with the skirt of her white dress— hair fashioned into two golden buns. "I just brought them on the spot, thinking that'll clear things up."

"It's fine, Dear. Come in, come in~" now allowing her friends to enter, alertness slightly slackened.

Returning to the parlor, you lend Nakahara and Ana seats; your grip on Morishima's shoulder was a tad too tight when ushering him to his, suspicious of the boy's purpose here. Though, it'd be rude to bring your misgivings into reality; the girl that introduced him wouldn't be so pleased.

"We heard all of the commotions about a construction project, but this is on another level. It's straight out of Europe!" Nakahara remarked.

"Yeah. The fact that this is owned by Hamasaki's grandfather is awesome, too!" Morishima, agreeing with the proper girl; the way that she talks, walks, and dresses are not of common birth. Your split-second opinion is proven wrong by her mannerisms.

"Ana did say that her school's high-class, didn't she? Maybe that's why," you reminisced.

While the young ladies are preoccupied, you go over to Morishima for a bit of small talk. "Your name is Morishima Katsuo, no?" you spoke, standing over him at his left side.

"Yeah?" he says, nodding.

"I just greeted him and he's this intimidated?" you thought, overexaggerating the teenage boy's reaction. But what is an exaggeration to a grandfather who cares for his child? You need to test him! One Jap has sullied your bloodline once, and you won't let it happen for a second time!

"Could you follow me? I don't want our own conversation to intrude on theirs, you know."

Morishima looks to Ana and then to Nakahara. "Sure, I don't see why."

"Thank you," a metaphorical, ominous gloom covering the upper half of your visage. Subtly, he swallows his throat, unable to go back on his word.

Telling Ana that you're going somewhere for not too long, you take Morishima to a remote room in the mansion. Its walls just so happen to be decorated with ancestral armaments: muskets, bayonets, rapiers, and all that a high man of birth wields. This is where you keep a handgun for safety reasons; however, you won't be needing it. Yet.

Your finger glides across a glass case, storing a collection of swords. "About my granddaughter, Ana..."

"Is something wrong, Mister, uh..." Morishima

"Yohsef A. Williams."

"Oh. Uh— Is something wrong, Mister Williams?" the young man says, the absence of your address rectified.

"Somewhat. As I was saying, about my granddaughter... Do you, perchance, have feelings for her? A love?"

"H-Huh?!" Unexpecting this kind of speech from you, Morishima recomposes himself with a still visible blush. "Why'd you say that, Mister?"

The Japanese sort isn't difficult to fluster, but you have to dig deeper to know if this is just a general response or a signal of unrequited adoration. That doesn't stop you from thinking: "What a wolf!"

"If you, for some unknown, unspecifiable reason go on a date with Ana, where would you take her?"

"That's a bit too much to ask," Morishima says, off-put by the query's intimacy. Nevertheless, he sheds the hesitant pause after receiving an urging scowl; you revert to a calmer disposition upon his recommence. "The theme park in the city is where I'll take her if your given situation does occur... My parents went on their first date there, so I'd kinda want to obtain the same sort of happiness, I-I guess," Unraveling his reasons in a straight tone, the young man keeps himself together, disregarding the increasing waves of embarrassment within.

While Morishima's arrested by the silence that you passively put over him, you look to the room's door to see if anyone's peeping on the exchange. There is no result at the second's inspection, only pervading peace; thereafter, such peace is broken.

Your prisoner perks up upon returning to him, cooled down before his internal temperature rises again by your gaze.

"Anything that you can think of, be it too personal or starkly general. But you'll have to pick carefully still. Depending on what you choose, I'll... I'll leave that to your own imagination."

Morishima spends more time pondering on the topic than he did for the last; one arm's standing on top of the other— the left laid horizontally and over his chest— for the edge of his right palm to overlap his lips. "Her..." his face contorts into reluctance by which conveying his rejoin is laborious, "hips are noticeably wider than the rest of the girls in the school if I look under. "I get kicked around more than I can count. It's something to expect when you're always tumbling down floors or stairs! Hahaha~!"

Deadpan air petrifies you and the teenage boy. Disturbing the repose, you lean into him with a less than pleased expression. "It seems that I cannot let you near Ana. Who knows what will happen when she's left with a pervert like you," brooding in between your breaths.

"I didn't mean to come off like that," arms raised in a protective, yet yielding guard. "We're good friends. Disconnecting me from her is, I don't know— disruptive to her life?"

"Start running. You have until the count of ten before I catch you," exacting yourself thereafter. If he's as slapstick as he says to be, then the chase will be fun for you; a plus, while you dish out justice for granddaughter. Internally, you fabricate a precautionary explanation if Ana calls your behavior into question: "Any granddaughter of mine shall not fall prey to the lust of men! This is out of concern for her well-being, and to keep her on the right track. The household's women are reputable for their beauty, childbearing hips are another buxom aspect; my role as the proper man is to avert unfit partners, to which I failed once!"

Morishima has wasted four seconds trying to make sense of your statement. On the fifth, he approaches the room's door and into the hall. Instantly, his foot touching the corridor's floor, he turns tail. "And I thought my sister was more of a problem with this!" he mutters without your presence, dashing down the paths.

Enacting a sprinter's pose and motion, you quickly catch up to Morishima. Your game grants you the attention of Ana and Nakahara; they crack open their door, seeing everything in action when you and your target pass by.

"Grandpa?!" cries Ana, "What are you doing?!" However, you have dived too far into the mansion's body for you to recognize her.

"Should I be worried?" Nakahara asks.

"Do you care about Morishima?"

"It would certainly be troublesome for him to get injured by this. It's my responsibility to issue punishment to my club members. Letting the elderly do that in my stead is shameful for me."

Ana's brow elevates an inch, setting itself to its original placement upon further urgency. "I wouldn't want him to get hurt in any way, I agree. Though, standing here won't prevent the end of his life! Come, hurry!"

"What's with this house?! It's like a maze!" shouts Morishima.

"It may seem so. But to the coordinated and organized, a thousand rooms are as simple as the common amount. Why don't you give up and surrender yourself? With all this running, a young'un will no doubt be tired."

"Haha! Believe it or not, I'm the faster runner in all of Seiun! Granted, I need some motivation to get me going: for example, right now..."

"Well then, young man, be prepared. For I've beaten far faster folks in my prime! Not to mention boot camp and the moments where I assaulted your homeland's coast!"

"Do you have some kind of grudge?! I don't understand what you're saying!"

"More or less, yes! But don't hold it against me. The old are stuck in the past."

Distances are made; Morishima fights a figurative battle with the laws of physics to maintain, and or pick up, speed. As a person who hasn't participated in events that strike the heart with fear, the constant danger behind him teaches the lesson of self-preservation thoroughly. Strides are made in his enrichment as a man. Regardless, you fasten your resolve to finish up this race.

Splitting off from the teenager, you aim to herd him to an isolated zone. He sighs in relief upon your disappearances, however, cut short when you reappear in a different direction. The strategy worked smoothly, cornering him in the study.

Your spirit emitted visions of fates unsaid for Morishima, pressing himself on a bookshelf for the illusion of refuge. At arms reach, you begin to extend yourself, all while holding a haunting royalty.

"Technique of the four devas of heaven: Golden Blade of Rightful Cause! Cho~p!' Out of nowhere, Ana lands a blow at your head. That skill is limited to her mother, explicitly banned no matter the use! Did Beatrice mentor her on such a powerful art?! How could she!

Nakahara joins in, pulling Morishima to safety by the ear. He grunts when the tip of her flats pierced his torso.

"I forgot how you can manipulate your presence. My encouragement backfired!"

"Grandpa, scaring Morishima like that isn't good! Nakahara already does that job for you when we're at Seiun!" Demanding that you take a seat on the ground, she goes on to scold you of your behavior just then. Fingers are wagged, empty threats were made that concerned Beatrice, and lastly, reconciliation.

Given permission to stand on your own two legs, you entertain the guest with a quip about a less than controlled situation with more brutally inclined persons; "Things could've been horrible if fate when that way. It would've gone horribly," you said. In haste, you remove yourself from the study and towards the kitchen.

"I will have to refuse your generosity, Mister Williams," Nakahara, declining your offer of snacks. She reasons that Morishima needs to be taken somewhere to recover. That, or she's going to interrogate him on how your chase developed. Saddened, you and Ana stroll beside her until she's outside the front doors, saying goodbye to your daughter before exiting the gates. The way Nakahara dragged Morishima deprived you of empathy for his state. At least Ana isn't that rough with you when a mishap occurs...
