/qst/ - Quests

You are Yumigawa Rushorou, and you've rejected your humanity to pursue success in the Holy Grail War.
You've changed a great deal since waking up in an abandoned parking garage in the middle of a burning city. A week ago, you were a 5'9" tall student, 100% human, and had a fairly different face. You'd also never been in a fight. Since then, you've been dragged into a free-for-all death game known as the Holy Grail War, learned of the existence of magic, contracted a semi-divine witch to fight by your side, and been reforged into a "conceptual being," an inhuman imitation of ancient heroes. That was all on the first day.

The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magi, contracted to the spirits of seven heroes of the past, classified as Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Each duo is known as a Master and Servant, and when only one pair remains the two are promised one wish from the omnipotent Holy Grail each. So far, Saber, Lancer, and Rider have been eliminated along with the Masters of Saber, and Rider. It's the afternoon of the seventh day of the war, and you're currently debating whether to take Archer's unconscious Master prisoner or kill her.

Where we left off...
"Fine," you concede, "you've forced me into it, but at the end of the day my life is more important than my pride. Keiseki-san," you say, standing up from the table, "we'll shake on it. Then I'll hand Caster over to you."

Smug satisfaction spreads across Keiseki's face as he gets up. "I'm so glad to hear you've seen the light, Yumigawa-san," he declares, walking around the table to take your hand, "I really didn't want to do any unnecessary-"

You've had enough of listening to this bastard for a lifetime. Now it's time to let the rage you've been choking back take over. Turning the handshake into a throw, you trip him up and slam his face down onto your knee, cutting off his words.. You feel the satisfying crunch of his teeth and nose breaking, and as he slides to the ground, unconscious, you observe that he's left a bright bloodstain on your cream slacks. You turn to Kikuko, hopping lightly up to stand on the table, and bring the toe of your right loafer level with her eyes. "Call Archer," you say in a soft, threatening purr, "and I'll stove your face in before you get the first word out." You're really grinning down at her now, not faking the friendly student's amiable smile as you've done so many times before; it feels so good to finally be in control again after dancing to the tune these two have set since last night. The girl silently nods in terror, and you slam your heel into her forehead for a quick knockout.

Then you return to Keiseki. He's still breathing, and you'll have to make this quick in order to deprive Blackbeard of energy before he becomes suspicious. Still, you do want to inflict some punishment on the man who seems to have orchestrated this disaster. After a moment of pondering, you decide to use him to test the limits of your current strength. Holding the unconscious man up with one hand around his face, you flatten the other into a makeshift blade. Looking at him for a moment, you think on your acquaintance with the man. It's been short, but he's given you so many reasons to hate him; depriving you of Lancer, sabotaging your alliance with Truvietianne, putting Caster in danger, forcing you to sit there and listen to his disingenuous pleasantries. You savor the moment of your victory, and then slice your hand across his throat with your full strength.

It's not totally satisfactory. You'd hoped that you were powerful enough now to decapitate Keiseki with your bare hands, but the best you manage is tearing open his throat. 'Ah, well,' you think, 'at least he's dead.' You toss the corpse to the side and return your gaze to Kikuko. Now, what should you do with the unconscious girl?

What could possibly go wrong?
Bitch is out cold.
I feel like Archer is kind of the sort that would attempt to pursue us in revenge if we killed her anyway.
We can have Caster do so many FUN things to her as well.
Just imagine the look on her face when she wakes up in a dark room and attempts to call Archer only to realise that nobody is coming and her command spells are gone.

That is not necessarily true. Also if we take her and run we leave behind Truviet. And she's been with us for a while. She needs some kind of support. I dont feel good with just abandoning her like this.

ARCHER HAS NO WEAKNESSES
>>
>>3374717
You know, that is something we need to discuss. I personally don’t want to abandon her simply because she’s served us rather well and her servant is dead, so there’s really no reason to kill her/let her die.
>>
>>3374717
>>3374725
Agreed. We should try to find Truviet and bring her back with us. It’d be wrong to leave her.
>>
>>3374725

>Truvi contracts with Archer
>Both are pissed at us
HMMM
>>
>>3374725
I don't want to either but we don't really have a choice here.
Archer will be on our ass instantly if we kill Kukiko
We'll have a valuable head start if we don't kill her immediately.
>>
>>3374732
Yeah, that's the kicker.
Archer can't contract with another *better* master if he's still stuck with his naive sadistic retard master who's currently getting the circuits and command spells ripped out of her.
>>
>>3374725
It more then that, she is the only one to suffer because of our actions. She has more than earned my respect. We also have disregarded her opinions. Also since she is familiar with the war; she is probably thinking that she is going to die shortly due to Lancers death.

>>3374736
We do have a chance. We can search for Truviet while Archer and Caster fight it out after we (hopefully)kill her/(but probably)kidnap her.
>>
>>3374756
Kidnapping her is better for our goals.
Remember.
Caster
Non Magus/Servant enemy.
Like a lamb to the slaughter.
We'll know everything she knows and she'll dance like a puppet to whatever tune we sing.
>>
>>3374732
I can accept her anger after what happened, but I'm sure she would forgive us.
>>
>>3374764
We dont actually know if she is a magus, (or god forbid a dead apposite) we haven't seen her actually do anything offensive, we should be wearily of what she might be capable of.
>>
>>3374765
She blames us for Lancer's death (even tho she followed our plans of her own free will). She's probably had enough of following us and it's probably safe to assume she'll become an enemy if she contracts with archer, or heck, rider.
>>
>>3374780
Anon, if she was a dead apostle the sun would be harming her and a single heel smash would have just made her laugh.
And even if she IS a magus she's still gonna get fucking destroyed by Circe, who is probably the greatest magus active in this era not counting True Magic bullshit.
Additionally, we aren't gonna kill a dead apostle with our bare hands anyway.

>Adviser to Heroes: B
As an enchantress who facilitates the accomplishments of others, Caster is able to offer preternaturally good advice to one whom she considers a "hero". When aiding this person, her predictive and analytical abilities are enhanced significantly.
I feel like we haven't seen much of this yet. Also we definitely need her to make some enchanted items for us when we get the chance.

>>3374807
No. But maybe.
>>
>>3374697
They don't need to know exactly what's going on. Caster's tower is a quiet place.

>>3374717
Archer is sure to be on our ass instead of Truvi's since we have his master. And if he takes Truvi hostage for negotiations, we just need to use the first spell to guarantee Truvi's safety and a second to kill himself.

>>3374764
Now that I think about it, we'll have pretty much free reign over what we do with Kikuko. Rather than torture her, we could potentially rewire her into being a good (and/or more importantly, loyal) person. After Archer is dealt with of course.

>>3374805
Hopefully Truvi comes around. It would be unfortunate to have to kill her after she's been such a help to us.

I feel like we're really getting off track and making way too many assumptions about what we can do with Kikuko. We should do everything in our power to weaken Archer and strengthen ourselves to defeat him instead of wasting time with edgy torture.
>>

She's an Edelfelt, they're all tsundere ojous. Even the men.
>>
>>3374819
Re-writing her seems a tad too evil for my taste. If we are going to kidnap her (like the votes suggest) cant we just get the info we need then finish her. Going any further than that is too cruel.
>>
>>3374828
I just want to make her use a command spell to have Archer kill himself. Simple as.
>>
>>3374828
It's not edgy torture.
That's just a bit of funposting.
The point stands that Caster, being a LITERAL GODDESS OF MAGIC can do so much.
Including geas, brainwashing, command spell stealing.
And as Archer has A rank independent action, killing her won't do shit.
>>
>>3374825
Hey, I never said it would be the textbook good. Thus the part in parentheses.

>>3374831
If we rewire her, we can at least spare her life. Hell, we might even get some use out of her if we figure out what she's good at.

Looking at Kikuko's unconscious body and considering your future course, you decide to consult with Caster. Fortunately, your current location is hidden from the view of the ship, so the Servants are still waiting for the conference between Masters to be completed. You open the telepathic connection between the two of you, explaining how you dealt with Keiseki and Kikuko.

'How marvellous,' Caster replies cheerily, 'and now you're unsure of how to get out of this situation?'

'That's right,' you tell her. 'There are three things I need to do here. First, to neutralize Archer. Taking Munahara as a hostage is the best way to do that, I think, but can your magic arrange some way for us to get away without Archer being able to intercept?. Second, I need to find Edelfelt and make sure she gets back to the university. Even without a Servant, she's too useful to allow her to fall here. Frankly, though, I'm not confident of finding her in all these towers. Do you have any thoughts on how to go about that? Finally, we obviously need to make it safely back to the university ourselves.'

'That's a lot to consider,' Caster replies, 'but Rider should be feeling the effects of his Master's death shortly, which means Archer will be looking for that girl. For now, focus on taking her and getting to street level as quickly as you can. I'll make a retreat here.'

True to Caster's words, as you throw Kikuko over your shoulder you can hear the creaking and groaning of wood below, as Rider's ship begins to lose the power keeping it aloft. "What the devil?" Rider roars, his voice echoing off the surrounding buildings, "Keiseki! What's going on?" You beat a hasty retreat to the fire escape, which is fortunately on the opposite side of the building from the river. As you pass his corpse, you give Keiseki's head a final resentful kick, which manages to complete your earlier attempt at decapitation.

As you rush down the fire escape, Caster's voice returns to your mind. 'Alright, Master,' she says, 'Archer and Rider are preoccupied dealing with the ship going down! I was able to get away without their notice by leaving an illusion behind.' Then you reach the base of the building, and she's waiting there. For a moment, you lose track of your thoughts, overwhelmed by relief at seeing her safe after her desperate battle. Thoughtlessly, you wrap your free hand around her in a one-armed hug, pulling her close.
>>
"M-Master," Caster squeaks, "you-this isn't the time!" As you hold her close, you can feel her heartbeat accelerate. Then you pull back, embarrassed.

"Sorry," you say, "I wasn't thinking."

Red-faced, Caster replies, "No, it's fine, it's just... not right now."

"Right, of course," you nod in bashful assent. "We need to hurry. Can you scry for Edelfelt, or something?"

"Here," Caster raises a finger to the reflective surface of the office's window, and the image of Truvietianne walking appears. She's evidently some distance away from the river, as her surroundings are still and tranquil. The girl herself still looks angry and distraught, periodically sniffing as she walks. "She's walking straight South, back to the university," Caster says, "not using the roundabout path we took on the way here. She's already halfway back, and there's been no pursuit. I don't think there's anything to worry about with her."

"I see," you say, before Caster continues, "Now, if you can tolerate some heavy energy use, I can teleport the three of us back to the university."

"Hold on," you say, considering the situation, "if you can teleport us back to the university, can you take us to Edelfelt's location instead? I'd like to make sure she doesn't run into the enemy on her way back."

"If you insist," Caster answers reluctantly, and takes your hand, extending her wings to enclose the two of you, "Tροψα"

For a moment, you feel a great burden as the magical energy flows out of you, through Caster and into the world. Then it's over, and you stand on another street, in front of Truvietianne. The girl blanches at your sudden appearance. "W-was that teleportation? That's..."

Caster cuts her off. "Just a spacial transportation spell. It's nothing special, you know."

"Hmph!" The younger magus sniffs in frustration. "I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything but derision from you. As for you, Yumigawa-kun," Truvietianne turns to face you, "have you taken up kidnapping?"

You suppress a laugh. "No, Miss Edelfelt," you say, "after you left I was able to subdue the other two Masters myself. Rider's Master is no longer alive, but I did take this one prisoner. It is my hope that we will be able to use her against Archer."

"Well," Truvietianne says, "isn't that lovely for you? I wish you all the best of fortune. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm returning to the university to join Matsuda-kun and Ogawara-kun as one unable to participate in the Holy Grail War!" Clearly, it will be some time before Truvietianne's frustration begins to fade. Still, you may as well try to make the best of it.

"And that's exactly why I'm here now, Miss Edelfelt," you say, filling your voice with warmth and concern, "I was worried you might run into an enemy Servant on your way back, so Caster and I decided we should accompany you."

"Thank you," Truvietianne says icily, "for your concern."

With Truvietianne's attitude depressing the atmosphere, the rest of the walk back to the university is largely silent. Kikuko stirs once or twice, but doesn't wake.

You arrive just as the university clock tower chimes noon, shocking you. It feels as if its been days since you set out, but you realize now that the whole affair took barely more than two hours. As you step inside the university's protective wards, you allow yourself to fall to a seat on one of the garden benches, relief at your escape flooding through you and sapping the nervous energy that's kept you going.

"Master," Caster says as you take your rest, "what do you want to do with Archer's Master?"

"Ah yes," you say, "for now..."

See if caster can make sure she stays asleep. Gather ogawara and matsuda, Truviet is she wants to be alone so be it. Inform them of the situation, what transpired, stay with someone incase archer breaks in. See circe. Double check make sure she is alright after the fight, Express guilt of walking into a trap and inadvertently getting Lancer killed. Ask her to keep an eye on Truviet, as a precaution. Then move on to what to do with archers master.

I might be forgetting a few things but that should cover most of everything. Keeps people informed, maybe protected. Shows Circe we care, and gives time for Truviet to claim down, while also being monitored.

>[ ] "Let's take her into the university chapel. I have some plans for her, and it's well separated from prying eyes and ears." (Write in how you want to deal with Kikuko.)
We should keep her as close to Caster as possible, to ensure Archer can't reach her.
Remember, Archer had to meet us far away from her room at a weak point in her defences despite having Magic Resistance at A, so if Kikuko is in the strongest point that isn't right next to Caster then he can't reach her.

We can put additional defences around her and then either turtle until he vanishes or brainwash her and make Archer an heroic spirit.

>[ ] "Let's take her into the university chapel. I have some plans for her, and it's well separated from prying eyes and ears." (Write in how you want to deal with Kikuko.)
Let's have some fun.
Make it so she wakes up in a dark room tied to a chair unable to call Archer.
Then the INTERROGATION begins.
Have Caster do whatever mind reading shit she can pull off.
Geas her too.
Then, depending on what she's after and why she did what she did, if it's an unjust cause ask her what sort of animal she wants to be.
If she's not massively evil she can stay in the chapel.
If she actually has some righteous goal, allow her to roam the university with plenty of geas' preventing a betrayal.
See if Caster can steal the command spells for Archer either way.
these parallels tho.

Kikuko... well, her fate will be decided by her actions.

Yeah, good job writing Archer.
He's a real piece of work.
An excellent villain.
>>
>>3375373
Before anything else, find a way to tell the others to remain deep within Caster's barrier. Their survival may depend on it.
>[ ] "Let's take her into the university chapel. I have some plans for her, and it's well separated from prying eyes and ears." (Write in how you want to deal with Kikuko.)
First, silence Kikuko to prevent her from using her command seals. Also obstruct the communication between master and servant, if possible.
Second, find out what's really going on inside her head. What kind of person she is, why she betrayed us, etc. Search around her memories too to find out how she came to cooperate with Rider and what she was thinking each time she met us. We need to know their relation to Rider just in case Rider isn't dead yet and the QAR is still a problem.
Third, have Caster scry to see if Rider is really gone or not. I don't want to use Archer's command seals until we can be sure that doing so will eliminate him for good.
Fourth, if we know Archer won't get QAR zombified (either because he never "served" on the ship in the first place or because Rider is through and by extension the QAR) then take care of Archer. If Kikuko is a good person and it's possible, mind control Kikuko and order him to kill himself since it would be nice to avoid tearing out the nerves in her arm when she doesn't deserve it. If Kikuko is a vile shitstain or mind control either can't be done or would be too risky, just take the command seals and do it. If she has three command seals still, use two for good measure since Magic Resistance A is a bitch like that.
Once we know what kind of person Kikuko is, we can come to a further conclusion about what to do with her.
>>
>>3375622
>If she has three command seals still, use two for good measure since Magic Resistance A is a bitch like that.
Magic Resistance can't defy Command Spells, only sheer willpower can.
We might have to use multiple Command Spells anyway given that Archer is Cunt Eastwood.
>>
>>3375626
>As they are magecraft, the A-rank Magic Resistance of Saber and Rider of Black are great enough to repulse and withstand a single stroke of a Command Spell.
Never mind.
USE ALL THE SPELLS
>>
>>3375626
No, it's the magic resistance that helps Saber.
Her willpower isn't that fantastic at least compared to other servants.
The only person with enough willpower to do shit like that is Gilgamesh.
And he nosells Manjew's evil mud.
>>
>>3375630
Yeah, I saw that already
Still, we now know that we'll need to use at least two Command Spells.
We might as well make it three to be 100% certain of killing Archer and to remove Kikuko from the Grail War.
>>
>>3375638
It's smarter to use two. Holding onto the third will keep the contract in place (if you use all three command spells, the contract is broken and the servant can go find a new master), and then we can watch to see if the third command spell vanishes, which will signal Archer's demise.
Granted, it'd be hard to find a new contract while carrying out a suicide order, but they can't resist two spells and better safe than sorry.
>>
>>3375644
>and then we can watch to see if the third command spell vanishes, which will signal Archer's demise
Pretty sure they don't disappear when your Servant dies. You can still form a contract with another Servant.
>>
>>3375652
>Their loss does not indicate forfeiture of position in the Grail War, as the contract with the Servant is also part of being a Master.
>>
>>3375652
They do disappear when killed. It happens many, many times in the various installments of Fate.
>>
>>3375657
post links, I can only quote from the wiki here so shit's probably wrong
>>
>>3375663
https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Command_Spells
"Command Spells do not disappear simply with the loss of a Servant, but instead only when one gives up or loses their right to be a Master.[3] With regular Masters, this happens instantly upon losing their Servant, and only members of the Three Founding Families have shown the ability to exercise the authority of a Master even without a Servant. They will not lose their Command Spells so long as there exist Servants without established contracts.[4]"
It happens a lot in the VN, but it's harder to find concrete examples from the anime. I'll keep looking, though.
>>
>>3375673
How in the fuck did I miss that?
Whatever, I guess we'll use two Command Spells, then steal the third and sever the contract if that doesn't work.
>>
>>3375673
Oh, and by the way, there's a play through of F/SN on LPArchive if you want to get direct quotes from the VN.

That's really helpful. I'll use that from now on. Thanks a lot.

If you'd like a direct example of disappearing command spells from the VN, then one instance happens right at the beginning of this scene in Heaven's Feel.

>>3376326
Basically, Perseus has the gods' favor and so he gets a lot of fancy toys, skills, and stats, but that doesn't mean he knows how to use them.
Such is the nature of anyone who shares a significant number of traits with Shinji.
>>
>>3376326
Basically it goes like this. Endurance is the ability to mitigate damage, Battle Continuation is the ability to tolerate damage. Lancer's endurance is C; not great.
From the FSN status screen, the description of Battle Continuation A says that it
>allows the user to stay alive until they receive a clearly fatal blow.
A .45 round to the heart is something I'd consider "a clearly fatal blow."
>>
>>3376341
I'd say the same to an enchanted barbed spear of death through the heart and Cu kept functioning after that.
>>
>>3376160
>he says while we're all still trusting Truvi for no reason
>>
>>3376352
I thought that scene was bullshit when I read it, and I still do now.
In any case, the skill "rules" back up what happened to Perseus. Cu survived because of his ridiculous willpower.
>>
>>3376327
It only works out badly because those attacks go off last and then rewrite causality to have actually gone first all along.

Let me explain:
>A: Gae Bolg activates
>B: Therefore you get penetrated
A switches the order to:
>A: You get penetrated
>B: Therefore Gae Bolg activated

Colt .45 and Fragarach normally insert
>C: Cu gets shot
before A, but when A is "Gae Bolg activates" then it gets inserted like so:
>A: Cu gets shot
>B: Bazett gets penetrated hur hur
>C: Therefore Gae Bolg activated

Therefore, if you interrupt A without using a time-travelling attack then you're OK.
The real trouble is in stopping Cu from shouting out the name, because he likes to back off first if I remember that one anime clip right.
>It is like Tsubame Gaeshi in that the best measure against it is to not allow it to begin. Unlike Tsubame Gaeshi, which there is no way to stop it once it has been used, it is possible to find a countermeasure for Gáe Bolg once it is found out that it will go for the heart.

If I made a mistake, please tell me.
>>
>>3376352
Cu also isn't a little bitch who got handed a bunch of glory and magical shit solely because of who his daddy is. Cu stands back up after killing himself and keeps fighting because he's a badass. Shinji (our Perseus analog) runs from the room with his tail between his legs after Lancer pokes him in the shoulder. It's not a stretch to think that Perseus might be similarly unused to pain and just froze from the shock.

>>3376377
For Cu, it lines up perfectly well with his legend. Dude tied himself to a rock (or a tree or a fence depending on the version) as he fought to the death because, as far as he's concerned, only bitches fall over when they die. His enemies didn't figure out he was dead until a raven landed on his shoulder since he was still standing upright.
>>
>>3376377
You're forgetting that servants are still spirits with a different body composition.
A "clearly fatal" wound is something that is harder to pull off than you might think.
You have to critically damage a servants spiritual core, whilst the heart and brain are directly linked to it and deal the most damage.
Battle Continuation A is typically bullshit enough to let you continue to meander about even with that critical damage.
>>
>>3376394
To be fair to Shinji that was a poke with Gae Bolg so Shinji was profusely bleeding for a good few minutes because the blood wouldn't be able to clot.
>>
By the way, how many of you know that Arturia and Erina have the same dub VA?
>>
>>3376387
My understanding is a bit different. The "rewriting of causality" is closer to a rewriting of the future. I might just end up saying the same thing as you in different words, but I think it's worth putting out there in hopes that everybody gains a better understanding of the bullshit that is the Gae Bolg.

Here's how things go on a timeline:
>1: Gae Bolg activates
>2: Next thing to occur
>3: Gae Bolg strikes its target
Section 3 is written into the future as soon as Gae Bolg activates, and its dependency, causality-wise, is reversed. Gae Bolg activates because Gae Bolg lands. No matter what happens, we'll arrive at step 3 even if the world itself has to bend to make it happen. That's why, in the beginning of FSN, Lancer can thrust at Saber's feet and the lance warps itself and its course in order to strike Saber's heart.

That part of the future - that Gae Bolg would hit - was decided as soon as Gae Bolg was activated. Saber survived because of Luck, which is your power to change your fate. With a high enough luck, you can rewrite the fate applied to you where you get hit, like so:
>1: Gae Bolg activates
>2: Saber avoids the attack and in doing so alters fate, leading to step 3b instead of step 3
>3b: Gae Bolg doesn't strike its target because Saber avoided it
Here, Gae Bolg doesn't land, cutting off the weapon's effect at its source.

With Colt .45 and Fragarach, they strike first and retroactively cancel the activation of the Noble Phantasm rather than the hit that follows. The way they work is as such:
>1: NP activates
>2: Interrupter is triggered by the activation
Changing the timeline to:
>1: Interrupter fires "first"
>2: NP is cancelled because it has been interrupted

Now let's consider that interaction with the Gae Bolg. We start at step 1:
>1: Gae Bolg activates
At this moment, the timeline is altered and this is what we have:
>1: Gae Bolg activates
>2: Next thing to occur
>3: Gae Bolg lands a hit
Now that the timeline has reached step 2, the next thing that happens is the firing of the interrupter.
>1: Gae Bolg activates
>2: Interrupter is triggered by the activation
>3: Gae Bolg lands a hit
And the timeline is changed again. But the only thing that changes are the positions of steps 1 and 2 - the future where step 3 occurs isn't changed because that's not covered by the interrupters. Gae Bolg retroactively doesn't activate, but that doesn't matter - it activated even if that activation has been erased, and the reversal of causality has already been established. Gae Bolg activates because Gae Bolg lands. Its effect is not a direct result of its activation like it is with any other attack.

The result of the interaction as a whole is this final timeline:
>1: Interrupter fires "first"
>2: Gae Bolg is cancelled because it has been interrupted
>3: Gae Bolg lands a hit

An explanation of why shields can stop Gae Bolg is much simpler, but is best saved for a different post if anyone wants/needs it.
>>
>>3376531
Isn't the reason the shield blocked it simply because it was a throw and not a thrust?
Only "shield" I see blocking the thrust is an activated Avalon.
For obvious reasons.
>>
>>3376544
The throw is different from the thrust, yes, but the VN explains at one point (I'm struggling to remember where exactly) that there are only three ways to not get killed by the Gae Bolg - first, have high enough luck to overpower the curse; second, have a shield with enough magical energy to overwhelm the lance; and third, don't let it be activated to begin with.

"Let's take her into the university chapel," you say, "we may need to be harsh with her in order to neutralize Archer, and it's well away from prying eyes and ears."

"Oh?" Caster replies, "And just what is it you want to do to this girl that needs to be kept hidden?"

"Well," you explain, as the two of you continue indoors, "all of this is contingent on your magical abilities, to be frank. If there's anything you wouldn't be able to do, let me know."

"Alright," she says, "go on."

"First, we'll need to stop her from contacting Archer, either by telepathy or command spell. We can't risk having her summon him to us. Then I'd like to interrogate her; find out what her intentions were, and her background. Frankly, I'm still not certain whether she truly wanted to betray us, or she was just going along with Archer's plans. We should also be able to find out more about the nature of Archer and Rider's abilities that way. Lastly, we'll need to determine to what extent we can use her against Archer. Would it be possible for you to apply some kind of mental domination or binding, Caster?"

"Kyahaha~!" Caster lets out a high laugh, "You were worried about whether I could do that? Master, I can do all that and more; the mind of an unconscious human is an open book to me. Extracting her memories, giving her commands, even rewriting her personality: it's all child's play for the Sorceress of Aeaea!"

Having arrived at the chapel, you lay the unconscious girl down on a strange marble pedestal in the center of the room. For a moment, you wonder what purpose the odd thing could serve in the ceremonies normally practiced here, but the matter is immaterial. You're not going to ignore a useful piece of furniture, at any rate.

"Caster," you order, "First, bind her in place and silence her."

"Δεσμός" At the witch's word, golden chains of light encircle Kikuko's wrists and ankles, and her body goes rigid as the magical energy seizes control of her muscles. The light draws your attention to Kikuko's hands, and for the first time you realize that she has only one command spell remaining! Although the red mark on her hand forms a pattern of three crosses, two have faded into dull imprints; only a final piece of the spell remains bright.

"Now," you say, "show me her memories."

Caster replies with another incantation, "Ιστορία," and without warning your senses are overridden. You plunge through the recent past, and into more deeper memories, until you reach the time before Kikuko was summoned into the War.

Say hello to Merem Solomon. 20th Dead Apostle Ancestor and member of the Burial Agency.
>>
While your method of viewing them is mystical and shocking, Kikuko's memories are anything but. She was an ordinary human, a Japanese student in her second year of high-school. Within that constrained social order, she worked to enhance her own position as much as possible using a calculated persona and her natural charm. To the male students, she was the "Academy Madonna," the flower on a peak they admired without daring to approach. To her female peers, she was the "queen bee," leader of a clique of the most popular girls. She used her popularity and social network to torment less attractive or socially adept students, but always took care to keep word of her own involvement from spreading. One day, she was torn out of this petty lifestyle to awaken in a burning building, much like yourself.

Her time in the Third City was a continuous series of flight, manipulation, and the sacrifice of others to protect herself. One after another, she found other survivors, convinced them to protect her, and saw them die. One such protector was a man who, dying, gave her one gold coin and four silver, which he claimed would protect her. When they summoned Archer, she discovered that he'd been right. After that, she allowed Archer to manage the affairs of the war. Her own wish for the Grail is to never be resented, but always loved on all sides; even by those she willfully hurts.

Her first use of a command spell was to compel him to "Always keep me safe, no matter what!" Her only contribution to the strategy of the war was to insist that the two of them go to meet you after Archer witnessed your first skirmish with Saber and O'Mordha. Having found another student, she'd hoped to turn you into one of her admirers. In order to convince Archer to go along with this scheme, she was forced to use another command spell. Unfortunately, the meeting came to naught, and after this event she put aside all pretense of mastery.

As for the alliance between Archer, Keiseki, and Rider, she didn't take part in the discussion herself. Archer would often leave her hidden in a building and scout on his own, and after one of these reconnaissance missions he simply informed her of the trap, and told her to wait with Keiseki during the fight. She's quite ignorant of Rider's abilities, and has never been aboard his ship. She does, however, possess full knowledge of Archer's abilities.

Whatever we do, we should finish by removing that pretty mask of hers and bringing light to her true form: A vile repulsive snake.
>>
>>3378004
Yeah.
We can Geas the everloving fuck out of her.
We could install the three laws of robotics but just change Human to Yumigawa Rushorou and his allies
We could rewrite her into being basically a slave.
Or completely reverse her personality.
We could take advantage of that first command to have her use her last one to make Archer kill himself and then threaten to kill herself if he doesn't.
>>3378007
She's a bad person sure, but her part played in the betrayal was negligible, she did genuinely want us to be her follower.
She's likely been mindfucked by her experience in the selection round like you'd expect every non-magi or non-psychopath to be.
>>
>>3377976
Wasn’t complaining, just noticed that you posted almost three hours before my post and decided to use a rare reaction image correctly.

>>3377939
Ok, so she’s a infinitely inferior version of Rushorou. Hmm...

>>3378004
Frankly, I’m inclined towards geasing her into ordering Archer’s suicide as soon as she thinks of him, and then killing her once the deed is done. There’s just nothing valuable or interesting to be found with her. She *did* betray the almighty Kaichou after all.

Guys.

Guys.
I have and idea for what to do about Archer.
Hear me out.

You anons (at least, the fate veterans among you) remember UBW, right? Even Saber's A-rank magic resist resulted in her will being bent to Medea's in about a day or two.
We have Medea's aunt right here.

Let's give Circe the command seals.

It's also worth noting that her first command seal was to make sure Archer "always keeps her safe, no matter what." Might be able to twist that into forcing his suicide somehow in conjunction with the second seal, like if we promise her safety if Archer An Heroic Spirits.
>>
>>3378075
Yeah it's a bad thing but she's not a batshit insane psychopath that murders anybody that gets in her way or could pose a problem.
Like, err.
Us.
Also it's not really different from us forming our alliance with Truvi.
Except we have charisma and the willpower of a Hero.
>>3378079
Yeah, there's no doubt that Caster can rewrite her to be totally loyal to us.
>>
Ok so, how about we rewrite her into feeling total loyalty towards us and Caster to the point where she would rather kill herself than betray us or our orders?

>>
>>3378085
Even though we can do that, she's an absolute garbage master. We can rewrite her personality, but not her intelligence. It's probably worth asking Caster what she would think about having Archer as her servant.

>>3378129
Yeah, we killed the guy who posed an immediate threat to our life.
>>
>>3378158

>>
Anyway, I kind of want to wake her up to give her the choice after having Caster give her a Geas that states "I will die if I attempt to summon my servant" or something.
The ultimate sadistic choice.
>"Here are your options, you can choose to be totally loyal to me, I kill you here, or Caster here turns you into a snake so you can writhe in the dirt for the rest of your pitifully short life."
>>
>>3378159
I mean, she's not bright, but for us to rule we must have loyal subjects, and how can a King have a more loyal subject than one who's only purpose is to be loyal?
>>
>>3378181
>"I will force Archer to kill himself, under threat of my life, if I attempt to summon my Servant"
This is the specific Geass we'll be REQUIRED to apply before we wake her up.
>>
>>3378194
That won't work.
We can also have a geas that knocks her out if she attempts to summon Archer too.
That would be a very small force acting upon Archer to An Heroic Spirit.
More general commands like PROTECT ME aren't very good to make, but it might push him over the edge if combined with KILL YOURSELF.
Even if it doesn't it should stun him long enough for us to be able to kill him ourselves.
>>
>>3378181
The TRUE sadistic choice would be to rewire her such that she can't help but act outwardly like she's madly in love with Ogawara on the while retaining her actual personality on the inside, but it can't actually do anything to interfere. That way her consciousness has no choice but to watch as she slobbers over everything she hates and becomes a living embodiment of all her worst nightmares and Ogawara's fantasies.

But I think we can make better, less objectively evil use of her than that.
>>
>>3378180
>"You resign from the war, become a member of Rider's crew via submission, and we use you until the end of the war."
No, anon. That's not the deal Keiseki offered you at all. It literally was give up the war and we won't kill you. He specifically said "you can go on living however you please." No mention of you joining Rider's crew.

>>
>>3378232

>>
>>3378238
>If anything, rewiring Munahara into Ogawara's waifu might help him reform.
Did my Kirei-tier plan just turn into a possible Compassion choice? If we just rewrite her completely so that she's not suffering, they could actually be a happy couple. Of course, Kikuko will be wired to be completely loyal to us (in a platonic way) by Caster, and Ogawara will love us forever for hooking him up with an IRL waifu.

All we need to do now is plan how we handle Archer.
>>
>>3378258
I mean, that's fine isn't it?
Disposing of her like trash won't be necessary, she'll live to serve us.
She'll throw her own life away if it would benefit us.

The allies clause allows for Ogawara to attempt to make her fall in love with him but it doesn't do something as radical as forcing somebody to love someone else.

How about we mind control Kikuko into thinking like this:
As long as Archer is protecting me like I've ordered him to, I'm in danger, even if my command seals disappear.
In order to truly be safe and no longer a target for other masters, I need to have no connection whatsoever to a servant in the grail war.
I must order Archer to "protect me by killing yourself" after explaining this line of thought to him.

Do you guys think this twisted logic would let us connect the first and last command spells as a two-stroke suicide command?
After that, we can rewrite her personality and turn her into Ogawara's waifu.

My only concern about rewriting her personality and trying to get her to control Archer is that she hasn't been doing that at all. She's been letting him call the shots as her protector, and he's not likely to start listening when she's had to use her command spells to make him listen before.

>>
>>3378593

>>
>>3378559
The best of plans.
We should have Kikuko on a timer rather than implanting a kill command so Archer can't interpret killing us immediately as "protecting her": he has x time to kill himself or she kills herself.
>>
>>3378598
He can't, that's why she had a coffee date with the enemy.

It looks like we're agreed that we should kill Archer. Am I correct in thinking that there are no objections to warping Kikuko's logic and having her explain her thoughts to Archer (also wired so she won't listen to his attempts at reason, obviously) to try to get him to An Heroic Spirit?
We could also incorporate >>3378600 so that Archer has a limited amount of time to accept Kikuko's logic and protect her by suicide before she kills herself.
>>
>>3378627
I'm all for killing archer. I just dont want to do it in the way given; even though it might be the best course of action.
>>
>>3378627
I mean, if we go for absolute loyalty we can just say "when you see Archer, inform him that he has 2 minutes to kill himself before you kill yourself. Also use your command spell to order him to kill himself. Finish with "it was the only way they said wouldn't kill me by burning me from inside out""
If Archer doesn't believe the jape she dies pointlessly in your method.
>>
>>3378644
The problem there is that Archer could find another way to "protect" her if it comes down to that. I don't know if you've ever seen Parasyte, but there's a scene early on where the parasite attached to the MC tells him that while he needs MC alive as a host to survive, in order to merely be alive MC doesn't technically need arms, legs, eyes, a tongue...
All Archer has to do to get around the command is disable her so she can't kill herself.
Archer has 2 minutes to do whatever the hell he wants after he lays eyes on Kikuko, and that also includes taking her, barreling through Caster's barrier and attacks like a madman with A rank magic resist, and taking us hostage to force Caster to speed-reverse the operation we did on Kikuko.
>>
>>3378673
No anon.
We just have her say she's been cursed to die in two minutes.
Not that she's going to kill herself.
If the jape fails either way we either get absolutely nothing
Or somebody totally loyal to us.
Also, Caster is in her territory, we could just have her TP us again if it came to that.
Hell she could remote teleport us away from him.
>>
>>3378684
She's an idiot compared to us but she's great at manipulating people's emotions.
It's worth a shot, at least.
>>
>>3378673
>Archer has 2 minutes to do whatever the hell he wants after he lays eyes on Kikuko

>>
>>3378684
>>3378705
Overall, I like the basis of turning Kikuko into a time bomb that forces Archer to kill himself. Killer Queen has already touched that master!

Let's make it a geas that will just outright cause her death if the conditions aren't met. That way there's no bluff for Archer to call and Archer won't be able to try to get around it by disabling her.
Let's also reduce the timer since we want Archer to be forced into making a quick decision to kill himself with no other alternatives. Two minutes is also a lot of time for someone with the mobility of a Servant to rocket around the university and perhaps stumble on someone else at the university. Maybe 20-30 seconds at the absolute most.
Let's also mind control Kikuko so that after she explains the predicament to Archer, she uses a second command spell to repeat her first command exactly. Since it'll be the second spell for that command, Archer have no choice but to obey despite his magic resistance, and since the condition on the command is "no matter what" it won't matter that Kikuko will technically not be her master anymore.

The two keys here are to establish that the only way to protect Kikuko is for Archer to kill himself, and to then force Archer to protect her. I think we nail it with this plan.
>>
>>3378713
We can do all that with mind controlling her.
AND with the mind control there's no chance of her thinking "hold on, he's probably going to kill me no matter what".
Mind control is the cleanest method.
>>
>>3378713
Also, general commands are far weaker so even repeating the original command won't have the desired effect.
>>
>>3378708
I should also add that Archer isn't likely to be good at melee given that The Man With No Name is remembered as a gunslinger. We might be able to take him with assistance from Circe as long as we don't let him use his NPs.
>>
>>3378728
Would you kindly support my rewrite plan?
>>
>>3378399
Supporting, and we'll include the whole gambit to make Archer an hero
>>
>>3378727
I don't think "always keep me safe, no matter what" isn't as broad as it might seem. It's a clear order to set Archer's highest priority, without regard to (rather than encompassing a large number of) the conditions he may be in. And if Archer doesn't kill himself, Kikuko will die, so there's really no reason to let that last command spell go to waste.
>>
>>3378742
It's about as broad as you can possibly make a command outside of "obey me".
>>
>>3378742
Kikuko only dies if we use geas instead of mind controls and bluffs.
Archer will have no reason to call the bluff either way.
>>
>>3378746
Then again, he's not resisting the Spell.
In any case, if we made Kikuko use her last two Spells, he would be forced to act.
We already know his A-Rank Magic Resistance can nullify one Command Spell, so we have to use both by default.
>>
>>3378771
She only has one spell left.
>>
>>3378746
At the very least, I think it will be a difficult command to misinterpret given the situation we intend to put Archer in.

Do you at least agree that it's pointless to let the last command seal go to waste, so we should at least try to compound it with the other active command so that it has a chance to overcome Magic Resistance A? What do we have to lose?

>>3378751
I presume you want to keep the command spell - for what? If you're so certain Archer won't call the bluff, he'll die, the command spell will disappear, and we'll never get the chance to use it. I just don't see the benefit of trying to maintain it when the goal is to make it not matter anymore.

>>3378771
There's only one spell left. We have to try to compound it with another if we want to compel Archer to act.
>>
>>3378775
>There's only one spell left. We have to try to compound it with another if we want to compel Archer to act.
Wait what now
Do it
>>
>>3378775
Read my plan again
>loyalise Kikuko
>have her confront Archer and feed him our bullshit
>have her finish up by using her last command for the "kill yourself" order to make it even harder for Archer.
If the plan doesn't work, at the end of the day we've got a loyal follower rather than a blasted corpse.
Archer won't be able to fight when trying to resist a command spell either.
>>
>>3378786
>trying to resist a command spell
That's the problem: his Magic Resistance lets him lolnope a single Command Spell, so we have to reinforce the original command to keep Kikuko safe no matter what, and manipulate him into killing himself to save her.
>>
>>3378786
>Archer won't be able to fight when trying to resist a command spell either.
But he WILL. That's EXACTLY what Magic Resistance A lets servants do. Servants with A-rank magic resistance can't be compelled by a single Command Spell. We went over this just earlier today >>3375629
>>
>>3378793
That original command is weak and vague.
It also automatically compounds with a much stronger "Kill Yourself" if he believes that's the only way to keep her alive.
Also they have to resist with every inch of their willpower, basically immobilizing them.
>>
You two have almost the same plan. You both want to:
>Confront Archer
>Use Kikuko's last command spell to compel him to kill himself, with the threat that she will die if he doesn't do so within a certain amount of time.

The only difference I'm seeing is that ID Lock wants Kikuko to actually die if Archer refuses, while tealanon wants to brainwash Kikuko into issuing the command falsely.

ID-Lock, why do you feel it's necessary to make sure Kikuko dies if Archer refuses to kill himself?
>>
>>3378804
His Magic Resistance substitutes for willpower. There's no reason to think he can't ignore the new command and follow just the old one. We HAVE to do this ID's way for the Spell to do anything at all.
>>
>>3378809
My main concern isn't if Kikuko dies, it's the wording of the last command. It really doesn't matter to me if the bluff gets called. If the wording isn't that important either, then I'll support the plan we have and we can move on.
>>
>>3378813
No we don't.
Look at Saber at the end of Zero.
First command spell has her already lifting the thing above her head screaming in anguish for Kerry to stop.
Resist doesn't mean ignore.

>>
>>3378813
>there's no reason to think he can't ignore the new command
There's every reason to think that considering by their very nature, vague indefinite commands hold less binding power than single action commands.
>>
>>3378819
Alright then, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you each to restate your plans exactly. If you're concerned about the wording, I'm concerned about the fact that it seems to change slightly over the course of this argument.

Tealanon, what exactly do you want Kikuko to tell Blondie?

ID-Lock, what exactly are the terms of the geas you want to put on Kikuko?
>>
>>3378835
"Archer, I'm sorry. Caster has put a curse on me. They said that unless I order you to kill yourself, I'd die 40 seconds after I saw you by (painful thing (acid blood?)(suffocation?)(burning?)) So please, for my sake -Kill Yourself-"
>>
>>3378835
The geas in my plan is as follows:
Once Archer and Kikuko meet, Kikuko must explain that she has 30 seconds to live and she can only be saved if Archer kills himself. Once the explanation is complete, the countdown will begin, and if Archer has not killed himself by the end then Kikuko will die.
>>
>>3378870
>>3378879
30 seconds is far too long.
Make it 5.
>>
>>3378835
>>3378870

It seems unnecessary. We can just insert some memories of telling her about it.
>>
>>3378942
Kikuko is a practiced actor anyway, so she's got good odds.
>>
>>3378939
Do you have anything else? If there's another way I want to hear it
>>3378941
Once again, make it 5 secon
>>
>>3378944
5 seconds is too short.
Archer won't be able to do much even with 40 seconds.
>>
>>3378944
40 seconds is better. Make it too short and we risk swift discovery of our bluff as he battles against the command. With it being drawn out, Kikuko can act all scared and hurt that he's willing to let her die and try to draw out ye olde western heroism before the time is up.
>>
>>3378949
Archer's a Servant, giving him 40 seconds is like giving a normal human a day.
>>
>>3378939
I did say I'd start writing "if nobody else has problems with this plan."
What do you think Rushorou should do instead?
>>
>>3378955
It's 40 seconds, sure, but its 40 seconds of being near-paralyzed as he tries to resist a direct command spell.
>>
>>3378952
Maybe.
I still think it should be shorter. 20 seconds?
>>
>>3378960
I think the Magic Resistance might mitigate that and I don't want to find out if it will. Also, he has to have nerves of steel to win all those duels
>>
One other detail, do you want to issue this command remotely, or just prepare Kikuko to issue it the next time she sees Archer?
>>
>>3378974
Let's issue it remotely.
Automatically she could start at an awkward time.
Like Archer being in sight but out of earshot.
>>
>>3378965
Tealanon rightfully cited the end of Fate/Zero as a good example of how that goes down. Even with A-rank magic resist, Saber can hold off, but not completely disobey. When Kiritsugu uses his third command seal, she's already poised to strike the grail.

>>3378974
Prepare Kikuko for the next time she speaks face-to-face to Archer. If A Fistful of Dollars was any indication, even Archer has a sweet spot for seeing people get emotional in person.
>>
>>3378981
Actually remotely or specifying Face-to-Face works for me.
>>
>>3378956
I voted here. >>3378378
But I know I'm in the minority there.

As your vision of Kikuko's memories fades, you return to the chapel. Caster stands behind you, and the girl remains unconscious on the marble table before you. You look down at her sleeping form with new contempt. Before, this girl was at least unknown, a mysterious actor in the War. Having learned of her background, you can see her now only as a trivial buffoon. The only redeeming factor in her is the soft beauty that lends a sense of innocence to her features, and even that advantage has been turned in her hands into a tool for the pursuit of frivolities. Still, even the trivial have their uses.

"Caster," you say, "I'd like you to change a few things about Munahara before we allow her to awaken. First, do away with her self-interest. Instead, let her become a willing slave, completely loyal to my cause. Implant in her the feeling that it is her only purpose in life to serve me in my pursuit of the grail. Similarly, though to a lesser extent, give her feelings of friendship and positivity toward those others who contribute to my efforts in the War."

"Very well, Master," Caster says. Her expression darkens at the through of your taking a female servant into your confidence, but she offers no protest. As she lays a finger on Kikuko's temple an ornate network of golden filigree extends across the girl's head and face. It flares brightly for a moment, and then vanishes. "There," she says, "I've placed the compulsions deep in her subconscious. When she wakes up, she'll feel as if she's had an epiphany."

"Excellent," you say, "now, there's one more thing I'd like you to add to Munahara's mind. A sort of hypnotic suggestion, or trigger. The next time she sees Archer closely enough to communicate, I want her to tell him that she's been cursed; that if he doesn't kill himself within 20 seconds of her declaration, she'll burst into flames and die. Then, using her last command spell, she'll order him to shoot himself."

"What a lovely idea," Caster remarks, as she works her magic on Kikuko again. "I'd worried that we wouldn't be able to get around fighting him after my food failed to render him vulnerable to magic. This method should lack the problem presented by his resistance, though."

"Hang on," you interject, "what was that about your food?"

Caster chuckles in embarrassment, "Well, I'm hesitant to tell you about something that failed, Master. If you're curious, though, I can explain. When Archer and this girl ate with us to plan out the attack on Rider, I gave him enchanted food. I had hoped it would allow me to control him, but his magic resistance is still holding off the effects, even now. I just can't open a path for my magic into his head, unfortunately."

"I see," you say. Caster wasn't exaggerating when she called it something that failed; evidently Archer's magic resistance truly is quite potent. How frustrating. You look down impatiently at Kikuko, waiting for her to awaken, but Caster's voice draws your attention away.
>>
"After the alteration to the girl's mind," she explains, "it will be at least an hour or two before she's ready to return to consciousness. I suggest you find some other way to occupy your time while you wait."

In that case, you'll...

>[ ] Head down to the gymnasium for some training with Matsuda.

Ask her how she is feeling after the disaster we just went through, and use it to segway into what >>3379277
said about learning some type of enhancement magic.

Remember caster likes it when we talk to her first, and why not start on a sour subject and then move on to a more pleasant subject. However I'm not sure Caster would be able to teach us magecraft, due the changes in mana and magecraft/magic over the ages.
>>
>>3379276
>[ ] Stay here and discuss something else with Caster.
Magecraft and it's capabilities, first and foremost, and whether or not she could teach us.
>>
>>3379281
We should probably ask about Tool Construction as well, like those gloves she gave us.
>>
>>3379286
That might have to wait. If she can teach us magecraft I assume that would take all of out time anyway.
>>
>>3379281
I suspect that as a Servant-level homunculus (we could probably take down Avenger if it wasn't for Verg Avesta) we might be a potent enough Mystery to learn Circe's Magecraft, but not Divine Words.
>>
>>3379276
>[ ] Stay here and discuss something else with Caster. (Write in topics. The other Servants? Magecraft? Tool Construction? Something else?)
Ask about learning magecraft and acquiring internally accelerating grenade knives.
Because of our inability to attack at range we were forced to negotiate with worthless scum.
>>
At this point, every other Master left surviving will and should be terrified of us.
We're basically some cross between Kirei and Kiritsugu.
I think Kirei would be interested in meeting us if he were alive.
Or.at least fourth war Kirei would be.
We've turned our apathy into a desire to be victorious and rule!
>>
>>3379338
If we're Kirei, does that mean we have better compatibility with Gilgamesh than the average Master?
>>
>>3379276
>[ ] Stay here and discuss something else with Caster.
Magecraft for Rushorou. Warning y’all now, she might not be interested in that kinda magic right now
>>
If Archer tries to get Assassin's help to stop us, can we have Caster teleport the both of us to their apartment complex so we can kill or enslave them all as well?
>>
>>3379373
>spoiler
I bet she'll get interested when we remind her that we'll probably have to fight Archer personally.
She'll be even more motivated at the prospect of private lessons later, away from prying eyes
>>3379374
Assassin seemed to be more interested in protecting his (its?) Master than attacking, so he (it?) might be turtling till there's only one enemy Servant left.
>>
So
How DO we explain Kikuko to the others now?
>>
>>3379525
Another stray cat added to our team. I forget, does anyone aside from Truvi know that she’s the master of archer? If it’s only Truvi, we need to pull her aside and explain our plan (conveniently leaving the personality-editing out of it).
>>
>>3379525
Just tell them she's an enemy Master we're holding hostage.
Or don't explain her, just keep her locked up in our sex dungeonholding cell.
>>
>>3379529
So just the "use her to kill off Archer" plan?
Truvi might figure something out anyway and I doubt she'd care after the bitch caused the death of her servant.
>>3379530
We don't really need to keep her locked up.
She's basically a slave now.
...
Are we the bad guy?
>>
>>3379276
>[ ] Stay here and discuss something else with Caster. (Write in topics. The other Servants? Magecraft? Tool Construction? Something else?)
Along with asking about reinforcement, we should ask caster if she can make any magical weapons or items that could aid us in any fights we have with other servants and masters
>>
>>3379537
>Are we the bad guy?
No, we are number one.
>>
So... We ARE going to give Kikuno her autonomy back after the War, right, or is this mindflip permanent?
>>
>>3379556
Why don't we ask her?
Hahahahaha HAHAHAHAHAHA.
I mean, if you really want to reverse it Caster could do so.
But there's not much of a point.
>>
>>3379566
I will say however that she was unstable even before we programmed her.
She was basically a school bully and she had no problems sacrificing others.
Also she laughed at our death.
>>
>>3379556
Why?
>>
>>3379276
>[ ] Stay here and discuss something else with Caster.
Ask about reinforcement and making some gear to help us out against the remaining masters, servants, and Cid since he's totally the final boss.
Does this mean the 100 was Caster trying to alter Archer's magic resistance? He's so fucked.

>>3379556
>We ARE going to give Kikuno her autonomy back after the War, right
Heh. Good one.
>>3379566
>>3379571
The more I think about what Sweets has told us about Kikuko and Ogawara, it seems more and more like the Ogawara waifu plan might legitimately make them both better people (it'd also give Caster a sense of security). The question is whether we just play matchmaker now that's she's programmed to be amiable to our allies or whether we facilitate it with further mindfuckery.

>>3379537
>Are we the bad guy?
No, no. This is just forced voluntary charity to make up for all her previous selfishness. Rushorou is merely showing her the light by taping her eyelids open and forcing her to stare into it.
>>
>>3379578
>the Ogawara waifu plan might legitimately make them both better people
But it would make us an utterly terrible person.
That's something I'm trying to avoid. I want Yumigawa to be DIO, not Steely Dan.
>>
>>3379593
We could just try and play Matchmaker with the two instead.
No magical love compulsion necessary.
>>
>>3379596
Yeah, that's better than forcing it.
If it develops by itself it's not so bad.
>>
>>3379593
The love compulsion idea was just a joke suggestion I came up with when we were tossing around Kikuko torture. Sweets just so happened to toss out that it would encourage Ogawara to improve himself. If Kikuko were to legitimately fall in love, she might also not be as much of a bitch.
We could just set them up together and let things run their course. We don't actually need to fuck with Kikuko's mind any more than we already have. As Rushorou, if we can improve our subordinates naturally, we may as well try.
>>
>>3379329
>as a Servant-level homunculus
You. Are. Not. A. Homunculus.

>acquiring internally accelerating grenade knives.
Just a little hint for you folks: the creation of magical items takes time and effort. How happy do you think Caster would be if you asked her to make a bunch of disposable projectiles for you?
>>
>>3379625
Can we ask her to make throwing knives with an enchantment to return to our hand instead?
>>

Next we'll ask for ZA WARUDO
>>
>>3379671
Remember how well that worked out for Assassin?
>>
>>3379666
>not today Satan
Because you can’t even try to combat a servant in hand to hand, whereas you can throw a magic knoif at assassin while he’s fightinh caster to keep him on his toes.
>>
>>3379671
Also we can use bladed weapons in melee too.
We can't karate chop heads off so this will have to do.
>>
>>3379673
Assassins are chumps.
Everyone expects Assassin to throw knives at them.
And if they actually manage to see Assassin they are totally calling their servant with a command spell anyway.
>>
How about a melee weapon with a magically extending and retracting chain? We either use it for its intended melee purpose or throw it to get it stuck in/wrapped around someone. Then we can either yank them to us or fling them around like Medusa. We can even use it as a grappling hook for mobility. It's versatile, effective, and most importantly, cool.
The only question is what weapon to attach to it.
>>
>>3379674
>Because you can’t even try to combat a servant in hand to hand, whereas you can throw a magic knoif at assassin while he’s fighting caster to keep him on his toes.
Name one (1) weapon crafted by a God that didn't improve the user in any way. Also we would have to end up hoping Matsuda, or anyone on our side, knows how to throw knives or we'll be taking a long while to learn how.
>>
>>3379685
I'm joking about the naming part, please don't.
>>
To compliment our close quarters fighting style maybe we could get some strength enhancing fist weapons and boots and some kind of body reinforcement or armor
>>
Why not just ask for a homing + returning dagger or something for dealing with enemy masters?
>>
>>3379281
>use it to segway into what
Just a note, that is spelled segue. A segway is one of those two-wheeled things with a handle.
>>

So everyone wants to stay and talk to Caster, but you're split on the topic. From your suggestions, I've got:

>[ ] Discuss Caster's feelings on the battle with Archer and Rider.

>[ ] Ask her about magic, and if it would be possible for her to teach you to get some use out of your magic circuits.

>[ ] Ask her to make you some kind of weapons or gear in order to enhance your personal fighting ability. (We can talk specifics more if you pick this one.)

Personally, I think of Yumigawa's new existence as a "Pseudo-Hero," since you've been modified to be more similar to an existence from the Age of Gods.

At some point, I'm really going to have to have Caster sit you down and explain the whole conceptual/mundane divide and what the defining traits of your new existence are...

Anon knowing how to use magecraft to reinforce ourselves or how to shoot piddly magecraft attacks won't change that.
Caster's reinforcement is superior to anything we could ever manage.

We're making the "assumption" that it would be thoroughly counter-intuitive to try to buff ourselves rather than have Caster do it for us in the event that archer Kool-aid mans the wall of the chapel before Kikuko wakes up. Why exactly do you want us to try to crash-course any sort of magic within an hour?
>>
>>3379849
Because I want to have an extra edge to deal with our worst enemy.
Whether he kool-aids into the chapel or not is irrelevant. I know we'll end up fighting him, and I want Yumigawa to have SOMETHING other than kicking and punching.
If you want him to die, then go ahead. I want Yumigawa to have at least one card up his sleeve if the Kikuko suicide gambit fails.
>>
>>3379856
Anon, learning magecraft isn't something you do in under an hour.
Fuck we don't even know if our circuits are going to put us in paralyzing pain if we attempt to use them at all for the first time yet.
You seem to be under the impression that learning how to like, reinforce a pencil, will aid us.
Self reinforcement takes a long time to do safely and not explode your own limbs.
Projection is worthless if you aren't made of swords
Everything else will be worthless because A rank magic resist.
Caster can't teach us in time to learn anything and she can't create any magic items in such a short time either.

>>3379856
That card being... harder punches and kicks? Archer has Magic Resistance A. Modern mages cannot harm him. How do you think Berserker would react if we stormed her base, kidnapped/killed her master, and demanded that she contract with us? Based on the conversation she had, I don't think she would be averse to us seizing power from someone who's incompetent.
Caster, on the other hand, is certain to have issues with the idea. Technically speaking, Rushorou wants another girl so badly that he's willing to actively pursue her. No way in hell that sits right with her.

In that Stage 3 art it looks about 4-6".

Either she has ridiculously large feet or the red part is a platform. Also, most dress shoes don't have elevation across the board. The heel gets maybe a half-inch to an inch up, but the rest has a thin, flat sole.

"In that case," you say, "why don't we pass the time talking?" You take a seat on the edge of a pew to more comfortably face Caster. "How are you feeling after facing Archer and Rider? I know that was a very trying situation you went through for me."

Caster flushes slightly at the show of concern, and shakes her head in vigorous denial, her wingtips twitching slightly. "Oh, not at all, Master! I may prefer to dispose of enemies peacefully, but when push comes to shove I can deal with a couple of petty thugs like those two with no trouble! They couldn't lay a finger on me," she boasts, laying a prideful hand to her chest. "As long as you keep me supplied with plenty of energy, Master," she continues, "it would take a god's assistance for one of those pathetic excuses for heroes to defeat me!"

You suppress a chuckle at Caster's transparent pretense. However effective she may be in evaluating the abilities of others, your Servant clearly lets her pride get the better of her regarding her own power. "In that case," you say, a mischievous idea springing to mind, "I suppose my worries were groundless. I had planned to spend tonight nursing you back to health if you'd overtaxed yourself, but I can see you're just fine."

Caster's face freezes in surprise, Suddenly, her posture wavers. She becomes unsteady on her feet, and begins to swoon. "Oh," she sighs, "I... this must be a delayed effect of, of using too much magic..."

Not letting Caster play out her act, you hop to your feet and catch her about the waist, pulling her close with one hand and bringing her chin up to face you with the other. "Don't lie to me," you say softly, looking into her reddening face. "don't put up a strong front, or a weak one. Whether or not it's too much for you, I want to understand your real condition."

A long moment of silence passes, her iridescent eyes on your red, the two of you feeling each other's heartbeats. Then she whispers "Thank you, Master." Reluctantly breaking eye-contact, she continues quietly, "I really am fine. None of their attacks penetrated my barriers, and I don't tire from magic use. If I went too far, you'd be the one to feel it; not me." You let her go, and she draws back. "Now," she continues in a more normal tone, "why don't we see what sort of shape our enemies are in?" With a snap of her fingers, Caster's golden scrying dish appears, and she sets in next to Kikuko. "Who would you like to check in on, Master?"

"Hmm..." you ponder, "given the situation, I'd like to..."

>>
>>3381211
Your personality is basically his perfect opposite, though. Kira is fundamentally someone who enjoys living. He "just wants a quiet life," after all; killing is his problem, a set of uncontrollable urges inhibiting that happiness.
For Rushorou, ordinary living gave him nothing. He derived no happiness from any aspect of life that he attempted, no matter how well he succeeded. Social life, academic pursuits, sports, hobbies, all gave him nothing.
It's only since finding himself in mortal danger, constantly walking on the knife-edge between life and death, that he's finally begun to truly live and enjoy doing so.

"Given the situation," you say, "I'd like to take a look at what Blackbeard's doing. Have he and his ship disappeared yet?"

"Very well," Caster replies, and as she waves a hand over the water Blackbeard's image appears. He is not, surprisingly, aboard his ship. Instead, you recognize with a sinking feeling that his surroundings are a partially destroyed wreck of Assassin's apartment building. The place is burning, and the outer walls have been halfway obliterated. Rider himself is in the ground-floor lobby, the wreckage of the complex rising above him on all sides. He's battling Assassin, and both are ragged and breathing hard. the fight seems to have gone on for some time.

As you watch, the fight comes to a brutal end. Assassin, having retreated to an upper floor, draws a bow and fires four arrows almost simultaneously. None reach their target, however. As Blackbeard charges upward, leaping from ledge to ledge, he contemptuously sweeps them away with a stroke of his cutlass. Then he's closed the distance. Assassin tries to escape into the shadows, but Blackbeard must have seen the trick before; he predicts Assassin's movement and fires a pistol into the shadowy Servant's gut. That buys him all the time he needs to finish the job, cutting Assassin's head from his shoulders.

The sound of clapping emanates from the collapsing building's entrance, and Blackbeard turns to see Cid Ajisartous, with a bound man at his side. "Bravo, bravo," calls the priest, "I'd say you've more than earned your prize, Rider! Here, the last of Assassin's living charges. I will facilitate the contract between you two."

"Oho! Good to see one of them made it! I'd be gettin' precious little energy out of this trip if I'd killed the lot of 'em." Blackbeard thunders his delight as he sheathes his blade and approaches the priest. As you watch, Ajisartous takes the right hands of Blackbeard and the prisoner, one in each hand. He says a short prayer, too softly for you to make out the words, and the jagged red pattern of bones you'd last seen on the corpse of Keiseki Saburou appears on the prisoner's hand.

"Now," the priest declares, "the binding is complete. May you fare better with this Master than your last, Servant Rider."

Blackbeard's face splits into a wide grin at this pronouncement. "In that case," he rumbles, "I don't need you anymore, do I?" Almost too fast for you to follow, the cutlass flashes out of Blackbeard's sheath and into the priest's neck. When it arrives, however, the space is empty. Cid Ajisartous had simply vanished. "Tch." Blackbeard clicks his tongue in annoyance before cutting the blonde man's bonds and helping him to his feet. "Puttin' aside that worthless slave o' god," he says amiably, "looks like ye're my new first mate, huh? Look forward to workin' with ye. I'm Captain Edward Teach, but most call me Blackbeard."
>>
"Yes," the man drawls, massaging life into his freed limbs, "I've heard of you. Plenty, in fact, being a North Carolina boy myself. Jack DeLancey's the name. The Greek's already told me how this war works; just three enemies left, right?" As he speaks, you examine the newly minted Master. He's tall and broad, in his late twenties, with the body of an American football player; all muscle, straining at the confines of the slacks and navy polo he wears. Short blonde hair tops a conventionally handsome, clean-shaven face marred only by an old break in his nose.

"Well now, this is a pleasant surprise, Jack," Blackbeard replies, giving DeLancey a heavy clap on the back, "I was thinkin' all those cooped up here were spineless cowards with no fight in 'em. You don't seem that type."

Having finished stretching his arms, DeLancey moves on to cracking his neck as he replies. "Frankly, it was about a fifty-fifty split. That bitch that'd got Assassin servin' her whims collected a few like-minded lily-livers, and the rest of us were told to go 'long or get an arrow in the back. She wasn't much for a straight fight, but she sure was happy to threaten death to those that'd go 'gainst her. Now me, I don't mind doin' my part to get home, so I'd have to say I'm pretty glad things turned out the way they did. Now," he says, grinning up at the massive Servant, "I'm sure you've got your ship around, right? Let's go."

"Dispel the image," you tell Caster, unwilling to watch any more. "It looks like killing Keiseki was for nothing. We'll have to come up with a new plan for Rider as soon as Archer is dealt with." You're seething, and sure it's coming out in your voice, but you can't keep it level. "Damn!" you explode, "What the hell was that fight for, if Rider can just go and find a new Master whenever he pleases?"

"Munya~"

Your outburst is interrupted by the sound of Kikuko finally rising towards consciousness. As she sits up and looks around, an expression of confusion spreads across her features. "Huh...?" she says groggily, "what's... going on? Where is this?"

Also mock how foolish they were to fall into our trap (this is where we reveal loyal Kikuko in a sort of HAHA SHE WORKED FOR ME ALL ALONG, even if it's a lie).
Even if we aren't the ultimate keikaku Master, they don't need to know that.
Also Archer might be functionally immortal now.
We'll have to alter our plans, how annoying.
>>
>>3381443
>[ ] Choke back your anger to answer her question, explaining that you captured and took her here as a prisoner after the battle. (Duty)
And after we did our damndest to keep innocents out of this, too. Fuck knives, I want a Cloth from Circe so i can personally kill Blackbeard myself.

>>3381548
>Also Archer might be functionally immortal now.
>We'll have to alter our plans, how annoying.
Hm?
>>
>>3381548
I'll allow Adelheid to kill Blackbeard, but Cid will be transformed into a cow and snuck into a dairy farm.
>>
>>3381552
Archer can survive for a week without a Master and apparently Cid was keeping those people as reserve Masters.
>>
>>3381552
Well, if he's "served" on Rider's ship we won't be able to kill him.
I can't remember if he has or not.
The fact he was listed as an enemy is a good sign though
Not listed as an enemy by Rider himself though.
Hmm
>>
>>3381553
No no, a cow is too good.
Let's transform him into a sapient leech and throw him into a swamp.
>>
>>3381557
>and sneak him into a dairy farm
There's a reason I mentioned that: Yumigawa's master plan for world domination.
Soon all of Japan will be drinking Cid's milk, and then we enact Phase II of the master plan: Circe uses a command word to instantly enslave everyone who ever drank the milk, using the conceptual connection they have with Cid.
Phase III: We make every cow in Japan a carrier for our mind-controlling Magecraft and export in bulk.
Phase IV: We eliminate all lactose-intolerant humans, ensuring that everyone in human civilization is under our control -- thus enslaving Alaya itself to our will. We go off and kill all the DAAs and other nasty beasties, and send seven Counter Guardians to hold down Primate Murder forever at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
Phase V: Be victorious and rule. WRYYYYYYYY with glee. Give Circe fifteen kids.
>>
>>3381548
Oh and you know what else will be fun
"Thanks for taking the time to eliminate Assassin for me. Whilst I could've easily done it myself with Caster, I prefer leaving the dirty work to brutes like yourself. Killing all those non-combatants would've left a bad taste in my mouth, you know?"
I want to taunt the fuck out of this retard.
I want him thinking his every action was expected.
I want him to know his victory is an ephemeral dream, being blown away like smoke in the wind.
>>
>>3381570
>Cid's milk
You lost me right about here.
>>
>>3381572
Speaking non-memely, I would rather sneak him into a slaughterhouse and then burn the meat so nobody ever has to eat it.
>>
>>3381570
>fifteen kids
Now that's a fairly low number considering I also want us to attain eternal life.
Also all of our kids would probably be demigods too.
Because, y'know, Circe.
Bonus points in that we're also similar to an Age of Gods human.
>90 years later
>Gilgamesh is summoned by a last ditch effort of the Mage Association to stop us
>Age of Gods tier humans everywhere
>"YES, THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE."

>>

...I don't know where you got that idea, but I highly recommend you review the coffee date with Berserker as well as Caster's reactions to enslaving Kikuko and talking to Truvi first thing in the morning and this >>3380192 post.
I'm pretty sure the only reason she gave us a pass on the date with Berserker is because she assumed that, since Berserker was an enemy, we were trying to manipulate Berserker into being an easier target. The second we mention that we want to make Berserker our servant, bad things will happen.
>>

You think Berserker is going to settle for leaving her chained to a fourth-rate dumpster fire of a master when she can instead be contracted to the only person she's acknowledged of being worthy of the title? And this person also happens to be practically dripping with magical energy?
It'd probably be in our best interest, too. Odds are her already high parameters will rise significantly when her master has a ton more magical energy and circuits than an average human.
>>
>>3382102

I'll give you some free OOC info, since Circe is unlikely to explain this to Rushorou herself. She basically saw that date as being a clever way to get out of danger, similar to the way Odysseus often escaped from enemies more powerful than himself. Her perception of the scene was:
>Master hears singing, unwisely goes to investigate. (affection down, foolish)
>Discovers Berserker. At this point, he's in her power, with no way to fight that doesn't end in being killed.
>Consequently, plays along with the dangerous girl until she leaves on her own in order to safeguard his life. (affection up, heroic wiliness)

Should we try to get something like the Chains of Heaven, but for people (or whatever Cid is)? Cid just pulled one of the slipperiest getaways from perhaps the most stupidly overpowered servant in the war. He just up and stopped being present in the time it took Rider to swing his sword with A-ish rank agility. We might want something to counter that before he Nothing Personnels us in the final battle.

"Ah, I see you've awoken," you say, working to compose your features as you approach the confused girl. "you're in a chapel on the grounds of the Eighth Imperial University. We took you here as a prisoner after the battle, so we could use you against Archer." Now, this is the moment when you find out whether or not Caster's brainwashing has had its intended effect. "I hope you don't mind."

Kikuko slides off the pedestal, getting groggily to her feet and stretching before making her reply. "That's alright, I guess," the girl says, yawning and blinking sleepily. "As long as you don't, like, do anything to me, I don't really care what happens to that guy. He was kind of cool, but also kind of a jerk, you know?"

"Yes," you answer, tone laden with sarcasm, "I can imagine how difficult that must have been for you."

Kikuko either doesn't notice or doesn't acknowledge your insincerity, continuing, "But hey, now I get to live here, right? Your university is totally ritzy! It's, like, way nicer than where Archer had us staying. Actually, he made me move to a different building every night! Can you believe that? It was like, the worst!" She puffs out her cheeks, pouting at the memory of the inconvenience. "I mean, can you imagine having to, like, move in to a new apartment every night? And they're all abandoned? It was, like, totally super creepy!" Before you can make a response to the girl's banal story, she changes the subject again, seating herself back on the pedestal to ask, "So, like, we all get to go back home if you win the Grail, right? That Cid guy didn't really explain it. They wouldn't just, like, leave everyone here but the winner, right?" Her expression darkens as she considers the unpleasant prospect.

Honestly, you're not sure of the answer to that question yourself. Before you can make that disheartening declaration, though, Caster speaks up for you. "An artificial world isn't something that just sustains itself, girl," she declares, "this place must require an enormous expenditure of magical energy to sustain itself. Ajisartous built it for one purpose, this ritual called the Holy Grail War. It stands to reason that after the War is over, all surviving inhabitants of the Eighth City will be returned from whence they came as the artificial reality is dispelled." Although her words are comforting, Caster's tone and expression are cold and contemptuous. It's clear she's only offering this explanation in the hopes of cutting time spent with the Master of Archer short.

Kikuko ignores Caster's coldness as easily as your sarcasm, however, and brightens immediately at the confirmation of her hopes. "Oh, great," she exclaims, "I guess there's really, like, nothing to worry about, huh?" Getting back to her feet, she walks over to you, towards the door. "So, like, there are a ton of rooms here, right? I'm sure you've got one picked out for me. Let's see it!"

Before Kikuko finishes walking out of the chapel, you mentally tell Caster, 'I don't want this girl causing a scene if she runs into Edelfelt or the others. Let's make sure she gets to a room unseen.' Then, catching up with the girl, you say, "Alright then, follow me. It's not as though I have a room for you in particular, but there are certainly plenty in the University." You push open the door, stepping out onto the rose-lined path that connects the chapel and the main university building.

Just then, as you're stepping out of the door for Kikuko to follow, you hear the distant crack of rifle fire, and see a gleam from a distant rooftop. Before you can react, it's too late. The first thing you feel is a heavy impact on your chest, slamming you into the stone wall of the chapel behind you.

Then the pain does come, along with the blood. As you sink to the ground, propped up against the wall, you look down to see your chest, blood gushing out of an absurdly small hole. Thoughts muddled by the pain, you hazily realize two things. The hole is over your heart, and it's much larger on the other side.

You try to get to your feet, but can't put any strength into your limbs; there's no vitality there any more, no blood. All the living heat is draining out of you, pooling on the chapel lawn. As you feel even your lungs growing weak, you realize that the last moments of your life are ticking away.

Summoning up the last of your willpower, you pour it into breathing out a few words. The mark on your hand flares, demonstrating the success of your final gesture.

"Caster! Kill the bastard!"

Nope, we can't metagame our way out of this one; I suggested it before but everybody else Professor Oak'd me.
Now we shall reap the consequences, unless somebody figures out how to make this newfound knowledge REASONABLY reach our protagonist.
>>
>>3383415
It's possible that Circe already knew about that since she knows how Command Spells work, and has accounted for it.
well I'm sorry Mr Professor
>>
>>3383415
Rider didn't have a clue when we brained Keiseki, Archer didn't know immediately when we kidnapped Kikuko, Saber didn't know when Medea mind-controlled Shirou, and Diarmuid only knew that Fastwheels was in trouble after Kiritsugu made some KFC. There's a link, but it doesn't seem to be perfect about communicating when danger is really present.
This is only a problem if we can't just off Archer right now with the command spell since we rolled a 100 around the time Circe fed Archer food to weaken his magic resistance.
>>
Consciousness returns, and you're in the dojo again. It's funny how the only time you can remember the previous times you've been here is when you're here again. Normally, you only remember the timeline in which you live, but here you can see recall all the temporal branches where you died off.

This time it's just Senior Student Illya there, no instructor.

"Ou!" she exclaims, one fist in the air "Welcome to the Tiger Dojo! The invigorating place that reforms those who took it easy and died! The usual instructor was shot by a poacher in the Indian jungle, so today's Tiger Dojo is hosted by yours truly!"

Introduction finished, Illya relaxes into a more normal pose. "Now, why did Onii-chan die this time? The answer is simple: not enough motivation!" The girl wags a finger at you. "Believe me, Onii-chan, I understand how much fun it can be to spend time messing around with a captured enemy, but in this case you went too far. Remember that Archer is chasing after you. Unfortunately, he's too clever to just try to bust in through the front door like Rin and Saber. If you give him enough time, he'll set up a trap to shoot you from a distance as soon as you go outside. So," Illya continues, smirking at you, "how can you survive this situation, Onii-chan?"

"There are three ways avoid this dead end," she says, raising a finger. "The first, best way to get out of this is to, when you capture Kikuko, immediately implant the command for her to eliminate Archer and have her send it remotely. That would stop his trap before it was set up."

"Second," she continues, ticking off another finger, "you can scry for Archer instead of Rider at the previous choice. Then you'd know where he was, and you could take the proper steps."

"Finally," she says, raising a third finger, "focus on your pride! Even though you'd be doing it for some other reason, if you have Kikuko deal with Archer from inside the chapel just because you can't stand talking to her, it'd still remove his ambush. Actually," she says, a blush rising to her cheeks as she realizes her mistake, "I guess that's the only option you really have, since you can't go back farther than one choice. Ehehe~"

"There!" Illya says, "that's not so hard! Now, under the new management we'll be using these Berserker stamps instead of Tiger stamps. Here." As she holds one out to you, the side entrance to the dojo slams open, and the instructor rushes in to smack Illya over the head with her shinai!

"No," you say, "I've had about enough of dealing with you for one day. You can find a room on your own. But first, Caster. Activate that hypnotic trigger we discussed. Have her mace the threat telepathically. I don't want to have to keep this girl hanging around me 24/7 until Archer attacks."

"Gladly," the witch replies, and snaps her fingers. Kikuko goes rigid, eyes glazing over as she comes under the power of the spell. Most of her communication is undetectable to you, carried between the minds of Master and Servant, but you watch her cry out at the end, "and so, for my sake, kill yourself!"

In Caster's scrying dish, the image of the enemy Servant shoes you his end of the conversation. He's lying on a rooftop, rifle trained on the university, and a shudder runs through you as you realize he's almost certainly waiting for you to leave the chapel to fire. As the telepathic message reaches him, he grimaces, getting to his feet. Then Kikuko activates her final command spell, and a new tension suffuses his form. His hand twitches by his gun, almost drawing, but not quite; his teeth clench, and shear off the cigar in his mouth; you can see every muscle in his body straining, as he fights to keep himself still. Then it seems that the command spell wins out. He grips the handle of his revolver and slowly raises it to the side of his head. As you watch, he cocks it, twitching with the strain of the internal war.

Then, all at once, he breaks free and fires into the air. The command spell on Kikuko's hand fades, the connection between Master and Servant severed, and The Man With No Name smiles as he spits the but of his cigar out, his posture relaxing. "Looks like that's the end of her," he remarks, before holstering his revolver and turning on his heel. He strides to the edge of the rooftop and leaps down, disappearing into a shadowed alleyway. Still, he's not unscathed. You can feel the change in him that's come from fighting off the command spell and losing his Master, all while under assault from Caster's enchanted cooking. He's weakened, and not likely to recover given that Rider's wiped out the potential Masters living in Assassin's building.

Status Updated

Caster dispels the image and the spell on Kikuko at the same time, telling her, "run along now, girl. Find a room for yourself." Obediently, Kikuko scampers out of the chapel, no longer a participant in the Grail War. "Now," Caster says, "I think we ought to discuss our further plans for the war over some lunch."

"Did you have something planned?" you ask, a bit surprised by the sudden suggestion; though it is lunchtime.

"Nothing special," Caster says, "I just prepared a little picnic for us. Sandwiches, iced tea, you know. I was thinking how nice it would be to eat out in the gardens with you."
>>
"I must admit, that does sound lovely," you reply, "lead on." You follow Caster out of the chapel as she pulls from nowhere a large wicker basket and a sheet to spread on the grass. After about a half-hour of wandering through the university grounds, the two of you finally settle on a stand of oaks for your picnic spot. It's in one of the few less manicured areas of the gardens, and you have the feeling of being surrounded by nature as the wind rustles through the surrounding trees, the birds harmonize their songs, and the sun shining through the leaves makes strange patterns on the grass.

Lunch is as marvelous as the rest of Caster's cooking. She's prepared a variety of tea sandwiches, filled respectively with cucumber, smoked salmon, crab, or ham and brie; alongside which she's also brought a variety of sweets. Black currant scones, with jam and clotted cream to top them with; a selection of cookies in various flavors; and a box of various ornate truffles, all of which seem to be handmade. To drink you have iced black tea with lemon, complimenting the heat of the day and the sweetness of the desserts.

"So," you say, once you've had your fill, "what I'm most concerned about right now is..."

>[ ] "...my combat potential. Would it be possible for you to prepare more enchanted items for me, like these gloves?"

I know it's unlikely to be possible but Caster teaching us her magecraft would be hilariously f u n.
I'm hedging my bets on our existence being like that of a human from the Age of Gods and not like a modern human who wouldn't be able to pronounce the words though.

Fuck you, now we'll never learn Magecraft. At this rate we'll finish the War without once using the simplest spells, and the whole Clock Tower will never let us live down the fact that we could learn Age of God's Magecraft but didn't.

Also, as anon noted in >>3383765, Divine Words and Circe's Magecraft are more bullshit and more flexible than any single weapon she can make for us. And Yumigawa can't kill a high-ranking Magus with a few Mystic Codes unless they're Excalibur or something.

Why do we care about what the Clock Tower thinks? Those assholes will probably just hit us with a sealing designation right off the bat anyway.
Learning Divine Language would be awesome, but I'm not convinced we'd be able to. If Circe were to make us something like the gloves but for magic, we might be able to learn something useful within a reasonable time frame.

>>3383924
Rider has guns too, and we don't know when Archer will actually disappear.

>Those assholes will probably just hit us with a sealing designation right off the bat anyway.
And having Divine Words would let us fight them off, as opposed to having our limbs broken and being tossed into a big jar, after which they read us shitty haikus every day till we break and tell them what we did to become what we are now. After that we get dissected and become immortalized by some douchefag's research paper.
>>
>>3383955
We won't know unless we ask.
Modern Humans can't learn it because they can't pronounce it and the theory behind it is incompatible with modern magecraft iirc.
We aren't a modern human anymore though.

>>3384161
We do need to be careful. Sweets revealed a little bit ago that he's using an affection points system, and in FSN you could get unavoidable bad ends if you didn't get the heroine's affection points high enough. Considering that we may have accidentally yandere-Caster-route-locked ourselves very early on, we should tread lightly. Or at the very least one-up anything Berserker has us do but for Caster.
>>
>>3384187
On that subject, maybe Berserker has an affection requirement. There were bad ends in HF as a result of letting Illya's affection fall too low, and she wasn't a route heroine.
>>
>>3384187
Yeah, if you fuck up enough even fucking Saber can be convinced to kill Shirou.
Circe will probably be fine as long as we
1) never try and leave her (like, unless either of us die it's not like she's trapped and wouldn't track us down very quickly)
2) manage to make her think she's the most important girl in our life (which is true anyway.)
She might not like the idea of teaming up with Berserker but Rider is gonna be an absolute pain otherwise, and this time he won't be taking any chances with us.
You know unless we just beam of light his master from half a mile away if we learn Divine Words.
>>
>>3384187

We've been getting on Truvi's bad side lately. We should ask Caster for some advice on how to placate her, as a king should care for all his subjects.

Well, what's your idea? Come up with a way to get on Truvi's good graces without gaining Circe's ire. I'm at least being upfront and honest with my intentions.
>>
Actually, we shouldn't do that yet. Also we're almost at bump limit.
>>
>>3384555
Yeah, Truvi right now isn't all too relevant.
Unless Cid pulls off some bullshit like a second wave of servants.
Luckily, I don't think that's his goal.
Still, I'd like to have good relations with the Edelfelt house after this war is over.
>>
"What I'm most concerned about right now is my unused magic circuits," you say, "You told me before that I have massive potential as a magus, but I don't actually know any magic. Given that this Holy Grail War is supposedly a conflict between magi, I'm concerned there may be issues if I remain ignorant of magic. Why don't you teach me, Caster?"

Caster lays a finger to her chin, considering the prospect as she reclines on the grass. "So, you'd like to learn magic, hmm? It's been a long time since I've taught someone, but it's certainly true that you have the aptitude. You've basically been feeling things out by intuition so far, right?"

"Yes," you say, "you've mentioned magic circuits and magical energy, and of course I've seen you use magic, but I don't have any specific information on what it is or how it works."

"Well than, we'll start with the basics," Caster declares. "When I talk about energy, I'm referring to the mystic power which flows through the world and its animate contents. You might call it the leftover energy of the gods; the life that we imbued the world with, and left behind when we faded away. Well," she says, laughing, "I say 'we,' but since I ceased to be a goddess before the end of the Age of Gods, things are a bit different for me. At any rate, that's the basic substance of mystic energy. If I tried to go into more detail, it would probably go right over your head."

"I see," you reply, "so, if mystic energy is the life granted to the planet by the gods, does that mean life would come to an end if magic did?"

Caster furrows her brows, considering the idea. "What an interesting notion," she remarks, "I suppose it would end, yes. Either that, or it would have to change radically. That's beside the point, though. Now that you understand mystic energy, I'll explain the sources of it that a magus uses. There are three sources of magic available to mortals. First, the higher source, Thea. This is energy granted by the gods, obtained by mortals through prayer. During the Age of Gods, the most common form of magic was powered by Thea, but with the departure of the gods it was forgotten." Caster sighs whistfully at the thought. "The other two sources of energy are the greater and lesser of the lower sources, Mana and Od. Mana is the greater source, the external energy which flows through the world. When using mana, magi channel the earth's mystic energy through their magic circuits to enact magic. Od, on the other hand, is the internal energy which a magus generates. This is also channeled through your magic circuits, and the amount you create is dependent on their number and quality. Of course, since you have a large number of high quality circuits, you could use either source without much trouble."
>>
"Hang on," you say, holding up a hand to stop her, "you keep referring to magic circuits, but you haven't explained what those are yet."

Caster pauses for a moment, shifting gears. "Ah, yes," she says, "magic circuits. They're a bit more difficult to explain than mystic energy, but you can think of them as being like nerves or blood vessels, another network of channels and nodes that runs through your body. Magi are born with them, and humans without them can never use magic. The number is usually fixed at birth, although in your case you were given a new body with additional circuits."

"So, how do they function?" you ask, prompting her to continue.

"As I said earlier, a person's magic circuits both carry and generate mystic energy," Caster continues. "They aren't functional at all times, like blood vessels, though. Magic circuits have two states: active and inactive. While inactive, magic circuits passively generate Od within your body, at all points along the network. In order to use magic, a magus switches the circuits to their active state, during which they can carry mystic energy, but don't generate any. In order to quickly shift between the two states, modern magi develop a personal mental trigger, or switch, but we'll get to that in a bit. First, I should explain how the two lower sources are used."

"Alright," you say, "go on."

"Since Mana is the ambient energy of the gods, a human needs to co-opt some level of divine authority in order to use it. This is done through what magi of your era call Formal Craft, lengthy rituals involving chants, magic circles, precious materials, and various other implements. Essentially, the magus temporarily convinces the Mana that they are issuing it divine commands, channel it through themselves, and issue instructions through the ritual. Frankly, it's a despicable and pointless method that wastes time, material, and energy in pursuit of something that modern humans have lost. It's a cheap imitation of the ritual magic I taught humans when I was alive." As Caster explains the nature of Mana use, her expression darkens more and more, resentment twisting her features. "You see, when I was a goddess, I cooperated with Hecate to teach a portion of the Divine Language to humans, so that they could call on our authority over mana to improve their lives, and the two of us became known as the Two Goddesses of Magic. That vixen didn't have a shred of loyalty, though! After I was imprisoned on Aeaea, Hecate commanded her worshipers to wipe mine out so she could hold the title of Goddess of Magic alone!"
>>
Remembering the experience, Caster grinds her teeth, and the feathers of her wings fluff up in distress, "To make matters worse, her cult couldn't even sustain the knowledge we gave them!" she exclaims, "Today, all of our teachings have been lost, and the only ritual magic remaining is this pathetic thing you humans have come up with on your own! It's useless! Wasteful! Why couldn't they have just kept doing things the way we told them?" Livid, she gets to her feet and shouts, "Κεραινο!" At her command, lighting cracks down, reducing a massive oak on the opposite side of the clearing to charred splinters. Then all the anger seems to drain from her, and she sits back down, calm again.

"I'm sorry about that," she says, smiling sweetly enough that it seems like her earlier wrath was an illusion "I'm afraid my temper got the better of me. Let's move on to the second lower source, Od. As I said before, your magic circuits build up Od within you over time, up to their maximum capacity. When you switch your circuits into an active state, you can take hold of that energy, shape it into the form of a spell, and pour it out of yourself into the world, actualizing that particular mystery. The forms your Od is inclined to take, and thus what kind of spells you can use, are dictated by inborn tendencies within your magic circuits, known as your elemental affinity and your origin."

"I see," you say, "can you tell me about..."

>[ ] "...how to activate my circuits?"

>[ ] "...element and origin? What are those, exactly?"

>[ ] "...your magic? How does that fit into this scheme of things?"

Teaching mortals the divine language hmmmmmmm?

Well, I had to explain Medea somehow.

Oh no, It's fine.
I was just thinking that for teaching somebody magecraft we summoned probably the best possible servant.

We should also ask what she knows about our pseudo-hero body

Since we've surpassed the bump limit, I've moved this choice to a new thread: >>3385048

>>3384992
Can we have all of these answered or is it a limited amount?

The choice right now is for what you want to ask next.
