"Of all the cults and religions known to the world, perhaps the strangest of them all is that born by the civilised Orcs of the Kelkiss Mountains. Of course, Orc beliefs as a rule are particularly strange, but those of these are notable for one simple thing: unlike almost every other group in existence, they have no pantheon at all, instead focusing entirely on a single divine being whom they name "The King in Yellow"."

"Of course, I doubt I particularly need to explain why it is that this was something our people took some time to grasp early on. Indeed, at first most assumed that this 'King in Yellow' was simply some deified Orc leader of some kind. After all, it would not be the first time a group of heathens claimed that their king held divine powers. Yet as time went on it became increasingly clear that this was not the case, and that their 'King in Yellow' was in fact a wholly imaginary being."

"Yet even so, there is thought to be given to the idea that these tales that the civilised Orcs tell might actually have some substance to them. After all, do they not practise magic of a strength and kind even we have been unable to achieve? Have they not been able to establish a degree of organisation and technology unlike any other of their barbaric kind? Food for thought to be sure."

"Worryingly enough, it appears as though cults to this 'King in Yellow' appear to be springing up even within our own enlightened cities, but let us hope that is merely a fleeting trend..."

That's right guys, Orc Civ is back! Sorry I disappeared for a little while, but I'm here now, and with luck, here to stay.

This, they are engulfed by our territory and we are dominant in every imaginable way. Our Confederate structure will also allow them to retain a large degree of independence. Quizzing the humans seems like a good action too.
>Idea:
Proper beasts of burden, digging, ridding and slat pulling are things the sloths should be able to do. Maybe our guinea pigs and birds can be useful too. Use fleshmancy to optimize their physic, aswell as regular breeding.

Alright, let's get the ball rolling for this. Rolling for actions!
>>
Rolled 47 (1d100)

And the idea.
>>
>>3412509
So the humans are talkative and we'll have to get started forcefully integrating another tribe. Considering the super orcs, golems and our martial culture, we should easily crush them. At least beasts of burden is not a total disaster.

>Send emissaries to Uldrik for joining the Confederacy
>Rolled 1/20
>Complete and Utter Failure

The Clans of the Uldrik are a most curious group, with strange ways and inhabiting the fire mountains north of your territories, an even stranger location. Nonetheless though, they are Orcs, Orcs who have the capability to be brought into your ever expanding Confederacy. Thus it is that a small band of diplomats set out, intent on establishing contact with one of their leaders in the hopes of organising their joining.

The journey itself takes a couple of days, but at last your diplomats reach the base of the firelands, where the ground is black with volcanic soil, and great smoking mountains reach high into the sky. There they are soon met by a band of Uldrik, strange looking as always with the scarification upon their skins and their shaven heads. Thankfully, communication is easy to establish due to the similarities between your two languages, and the diplomats are soon invited to the village in which this particular group of Uldrik Orcs happen to reside.

The village is just as strange as the Orcs themselves, build entirely above ground with huts of crudely carved stone. Once there, they soon meet the chieftain of the village, a person who strangely enough, doesn't even seem to be the strongest or most powerful of the ones there. What he lacks in strength though, he more than makes up for in the wisdom and cunning within him that almost immediately seems clear. He quickly manages to strike up a rapport with the ambassadors, and discussion goes well for a short time, until the Confederate Orcs happen to mention the venerated King in Yellow.

Almost immediately upon hearing of your god, the Orc stiffens. Calling one of his aides, the two have a brief, quiet conversation, until finally reaching a resolution and turning back up to face the ambassadors. In an instant, they are grabbed by a pair of warriors and forcibly dragged out and into the firemountains themselves, heading in through a tunnel at the base of one of them until at last they come to a stop. Yet it is here that perhaps the most disconcerting thing of all begins to happen.

The air itself seems to shift and bend as shards of light, dark and colour begin to swirl and flow around each other, speeding up in intensity until at last they begin to form a vague form, the form of a being clothed in red, a being with a great, dark presence otherwise only experienced during communication with the King in Yellow. The being begins to speak.

SO, YOU ARE THE YELLOW ONE'S FAVOURED OF THE CORRUPTED...

Yes, we are but his humble servants and our sages are his words. We have had no dealings with other great beings, considering they have not tried to have dealings with us.

>"Yes, we are but his humble servants and our sages are his words. We have had no dealings with other great beings, considering they have not tried to have dealings with us."

Soon after they say this, it feels as though the form begins to give a grim, foreboding smile, if smiles could be made by what looks to be something of little substance other than constantly moving shards of colour, changing in shade, size and intensity whenever they are properly observed.

SERVANTS? IT WAS INEVITABLE I SUPPOSE, THAT HE SHOULD MAKE A USE OF HIS ESTRANGED CREATIONS...

The form pauses in silence for a few moments as if thinking, before noticing the confusion apparent on the faces of your Orcs. When the voice (Although voice would be inaccurate, the sound more like the resonating of a great bell that becomes speech) comes again, it seems even vaguely amused.

YET YOU DON'T KNOW THAT DO YOU? BUT THEN AGAIN, KNOWLEDGE WAS NEVER YOUR KIND'S FORTE AFTER ALL. BUT THAT IS NOT MY STORY TO TELL. GOODBYE, FOLLOWERS OF THE YELLOW ONE.

For a few moments, the Orcs pause to look at each other, unsure of the meaning of what they've heard, and wondering if they were meant to leave now. Suddenly though, all changes. A great screeching cacophony fills their ears as the darkness melts away like ice. Now they feel utterly surrounded by this great, unfathomable presence of shifting colour and light: the true form of the King in Red. All rational thoughts seem to disappear as the Orcs go berserk, attacking one another in frenzied, ape-like fury, ripping, clawing, tearing, until at last only a single one is left. Then, just as suddenly, it all stops. The darkness reestablishes itself, the noise goes away, and his mental faculties return to normal. Shivering with fear and shock, he is escorted out of the cave by the Uldrick, and makes his way back to safe, Confederate territory. Yet it is the last message left behind by this groups strange, terrible god that sticks in his mind the most.

BE SEEING YOU

Well, shit. Explains why we got the King in yellow but it seems they won't federate...at least not yet. At least our scouting action worked well. Now we should know of anything in the area we might want to work towards controlling.

I think we best not interfere with these folks, at most we should look into expanding around them and working on establishing a reasonable understanding of their god.
>>
>>3418085
Nah. We need to make a great sacrifice to the king in yellow for his blessing and to prepare to annihilate these heretics. Unless we want to devolve into the mindless savages most people consider orcs to be. The king in yellow has granted us healing powers, fleshcrafting superior food sources, crafting superior orcs, bigger dicks, better fertility, and even earth magic and geomancy. The king in red offers nothing but mindless savagery.

>We need to make a great sacrifice to the king in yellow for his blessing and to prepare to annihilate these heretics.
Seems a bit of a overreaction.

>Unless we want to devolve into the mindless savages most people consider orcs to be...
>The king in red offers nothing but mindless savagery.
All this is conjecture, suspicion or fear-mongering without proof.

>The king in yellow has granted us healing powers, fleshcrafting superior food sources, crafting superior orcs, bigger dicks, better fertility, and even earth magic and geomancy.
Ignoring your more foolish comment, I never implied we should abandon our current methods but I would point out that we have no reason to believe we are about to lose any of that.

Hey guys, I think I'm going to have to take Orc Civ Quest on hiatus, at least for now. I want to continue this, I really do, especially as there's so much more of the world to share, so much of the Orc's story to continue with, but the fact is that right now I feel like I don't really have the energy to run a quest like this, and a civ where there's only one or two updates per thread isn't exactly very fun for those involved.

Sorry guys, and I'll try to come back later on. My apologies.
>>
>>3420133
Take it easy, QM. When the time is right, you can come back and run the quest with a pace you're comfortable with. Till that day, I will gladly wait for the further fate of the Confederation Orcs
>>
>>3420133
Fair enough.
>>
>>3420168
This
>>
>>3420133
But could you pretty please finish this update. the first action is complete, but the second and idea are still unanswered. It's fine if you don't want to right now, but it might be better to start the hiatus then?
>>
and so the curse strikes another civ QM

you had a good run, most civ QMs don't last three threads you lasted eight
>>
>>3423740
Lol most civ QM don’t even last 1 thread
