Look upon our prettyboy protagonist. Look upon his devilish smile and despair. In last thread’s episode of Harry Flashman and the Orders From Your Superiors That Will Continue To Be Ignored, you found yourself shooting the crap out of Fan Lady, who turned out to be a bad guy. Who’d’a thunk it? After letting her escape, you caught up with the rest of the crew, including new recruit Fop, and got a shiny new rapier. Mmmm, swords. Klaus turned the training up a notch, and papaSmo expressed a desire to legally become Mina’s papaSmo. Now you’re on the way to Alabasta, as the QM desperately tries to delay you long enough that she can reread the manga. Will this cunning plan work?! Probably not.We now return you to your scheduled idiocy.

Ha!It turns out that you’re over-thinking things, which is... unusual for you. Standing still and slashing act bits of scrap metal turns out to be far less effective than actually pretending it’s a fight and focusing on your target as an enemy’s weapon, or an actual obstacle to be removed.Higher-quality metal is still a problem, at least if it’s thick, but you’re pretty confident in cutting the average pirate’s blade now. A little more, and you’d call yourself ‘very’ confident of the same.(Metal-cutting to B.4!)As for Tashigi, she takes to wielding both Shigure and Kashu like a duck to eating bread and then choking on it. Or, uh, water. One of the two. There’s a bit of trouble at the beginning, but she’s learned to wield Shigure with her off-hand in a pinch, so that helps. You wouldn’t call her ready to dual-wield in actual combat, but by already being an excellent swordsman with a single blade, that’s about three-quarters of the issue already gone.By the end of the lesson, Tashigi can at least parry strikes close to her with Kashu, even if she can only attack with Shigure. Once she can attack or defend with both at the same time without difficulty, you both agree she’ll be ready to kick ass in an actual fight, but for now, regular-one-sword ass-kicking only.>2nd free action?>OR random event/action.(Also still rereading Alabasta. Definitely a doctor. "And if there's any lingering effects a while after you've deactivated it, you call me immediately.""Shouldn't I talk to the ship's doctor first?"Mr Speedy glares at you."... >>3416252.... Anon, Flashy's dad never married anyone. Flashy is the result of a one night stand (possibly a drunken one). And while your PATERNAL grandfather certainly never married a pirate, we know sweet f' all about your maternal one.>>3416257Normally I would say mink is too weird, but honestly, if anyone in the One Piece world would yiff for a cause, it'd be her. >>3416260It's more for shenanigans during future arcs than to have any visible result on Flashy. But as I said before you do you, just pick something that works.
>>3416260OP, I put in an edit message right below that saying I meant our grandfather. And let me clarify this.Homing, our paternal grandfather, married a woman. This woman, was judged to be of good enough standing, that she would be granted the privilege of marrying one of the Rulers Of The World. Do you HONESTLY think, that he was going to marry her, his would be wife and her family wasn't examined from top to bottom for 'tainted blood' and shit?People can meme all they want, maybe our dad did fuck a random Charlott, but there is no chance in hell our WN granddaddy married someone who was the kid of a pirate, or a nonhuman.

>>3416275These are two completely different sides of the family (if there's anyone who somehow doesn't know Flashy's father's heritage, please SKIP PAST THIS COMMENT, I can't be bothered to spoiler).Homing and his wife were CDs (or he was and she was something else, but whatever). They had Dofla and Rosi. Rosi had Flashy. That is Flashy's paternal line, which includes NO Charlottes. Assuming we go the Charlotte route, Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) gets with a guy who WE HAVEN'T DECIDED ON, but who is NOT a CD, and has a daughter (probably an original character, as yet uncertain). This daughter meets Rosi and they do the horizontal tango. This is Flashy's MATERNAL lineage, which has no CDs.Rosi had no idea who he was banging, and his own father was way too dead to care.>>3416285Huh?

Heading to bed guys, I'm exhausted. Thanks for playing, good night, and return tomorrow for more cute-child-with-HIDEOUS-DEMONIC-DEVIL-FRUIT updates! ... yay?
>>3416674Thanks for the run QM, sweet dreams you handsome spider lumberjack

>>3417699You absolutely kill it with consistency and humor is by far your biggest positive. And One Piece in general is a fucking great world to tell stories in.
>>3417699>Bounty Photographer QuestIt was the title. I know nothing about One Piece, but I saw that and had to know how a bounty photographer worked and how you would turn photography into a quest. Then the pacing and the humour kept me here.
>>3417699You've been running almost every day for nearly 2 months, your comedy is great, this quest has a great vibe and it's been a lot of fun.I stumbled upon this around the second or third thread, mostly because I was curious about how a fanfic quest managed to get so many replies and not die on arrival. I was istantly hooked.About shortcomings... I can't really think of any right now (if we don't count you being masochistic and writing on a phone without a real spellchecker), so keep up the good work I guess?
>>3417699It really feels like the humor is making me think I'm reading the actual manga.(Now if only there were coolly drawn action shots :V)You're doing a great job QM! :D
>>3417715QM wants to be dommed and sandwhiched between Ace and Sabo confirmed
>>3417699Character interaction is great, the characters are wacky enough for One Piece without heading too far into flanderisation, consistent updates are one hell of a drug, you're clearly willing to flip the stations of canon off a cliff. You do good stuff QM. Zoro interlude when
>>3417699>Actually funny>Chara have a certain feel>Early OP was really good, had a novelty factor at every turn.Maybe it was just me, being a kidYou get something that's quite similar>Crits make everything feel super anime. Dice Gods like the pace fast and loose
>>3417699>how are you guys finding the quest so far?I enjoy it greatly!>Any reason it snagged your eye in the first place? The title was interesting enough that I decided to give it a shot. It was also only on the third it so thread, so not too big of a backlog.>Anything I'm doing right/wrong/adequately?Sorry, not sure what to say here, nothing to complain about, really. You really well paint the scenes, I guess, feels more like reading a story than cyoa, and I really appreciate this.I especially like the theme of this. Not photography in particular, because we didn't really done much of it beyond background actions in Lougetown, but the entire 'from zero to hero' vibe this quest has. I really like to see a character start off weak and slowly but surely build himself up to be of a respectable strength. The most crucial thing in this was to begin without demon fruit, they tend to really give a headstart in most OP content. The only reason Flashy is as strong as he is are those obscene rolls, and now when gains start to somewhat slow down, I really expect to put our whatever down to the grindstone. All in all, I don't think I seen a quest that managed to catch my interests and hold them as well as yours did. Also, I dropped OP after Doffy arc and have to yet pick it back up, so many discussions about characters fly over my head. Its fine tho, I will probably get few surprises along the way.
>>3417746You really should pick it up, Whole Cake Island might be my actual favourite arc pre or post skip.
>>3417699I’m really liking it though I feel that Flashman is being flanderized a bit too much as a genki boy. I liked the first few threads where he was a bit more mellow (and didn’t act as dumb) but was still a flashy dude (tattoo).I know he’s not actually stupid and he’s just playing it up to appeal to his new senpai, but it’s a tiny bit over the top to me.
>>3417699>How are you finding the quest so far?I've been enjoying it greatly. It's been a wild ride.>Any reason it snagged your eye in the first place? Was just getting into two other new shounen type quest, DB Human quest and Headhunter quest, when I saw the first thread of this starting up, and figured I may as well make it three. Haven't regretted it yet.>Anything I'm doing right/wrong/adequately?You've got a good balance of humor going so far, as befits our goofball of a character. If I had to cite one concern, it'd be that I'm worried the rolling system might become to clunky down the line, with modifiers on top of modifiers, and everybody rolling handfuls of dice in combat. Otherwise, I like how things are going.
>>3417699>how are you guys finding the quest so far?Mostly love it.>Any reason it snagged your eye in the first place?I was recommended it during the first thread by someone.>General comments?Doing the Yu and Tashigi thing you talked about while also hard no-ing romance for Flashy kind of feels iffy, and I'd maybe recommend either going full no romance or vice versa. I'm personally fine with either but not so much the middle road.
>>3417699>how are you guys finding the quest so far?I love it. You are doing a very good job at making it feel like One Piece. It makes me want to reread/rewatch the series again. The constant updates also help keep us questers hooked but please take a rest if/when need it.>Any reason it snagged your eye in the first place?I love One Piece. Also that it was not about the usual topics and it looked like you had things planed out.
>>3417757It feels like we went from rash teenager cadet already tired of the ambient and the Marines to bubbly overly competent officer, which ampes up his own childish axpect.Thing is, considering our attention starved childhood, it feels kind of realistic: acting tough among the other students in the academy, actually getting pampered and spoiled the moment we aquire some deeper relationships, in both cases exaggerating a bit in order to try being more likeable. The question is: what is Flashy's real personality, and how much is he faking?OP are you taking notes for our character arc? lol
>>3417699I like this quest a lot but I have a request/complaint. Zoro Interlude! That is all.Heh, Mina is perfectly suited to dunk on Crocodile. I’d love to see the entire crew trying to rescue her, beat up guards etc and bust down the door to see her with her boot on his unconscious body smoking one of his cigars and wearing his coat.
>>3417717>leaving Captain Coby out Why even bother?>>3417726>zoro interlude stfu ur banned from quest>>3417757This is definitely a concern of mine, thanks for pointing it out. I’ll admit to sometimes making Flashy a bit TOO ditzy simply for humour value, and hopefully I can give Flashy a few insteances of (non-combat, non-paperwork) smarts to show his real guile. He definitely does ham it up to establish a niche for himself as the ‘nice, funny, lighthearted one we can (mostly) depend on’, but like you said, it does go over the top sometimes, and sometimes he really is just having a moment of dumbassery due to Excitable Teen Finding Himself In A Position Of Authority And Actually Being Liked and Respected After Escaping From Being The Nothing Of the Academy. As Flashy gets more confident in his skills and position (both as a Marine and of his place in his friends’ lives), he’ll definitely not feel the need to act so much. And probably not to keep asserting his newfound authority over poor Sunglasses and Hat, either. I also have some vague plans for a brief separation from the crew along the line, so Flashy can rely on himself and figure out what he really is when he’s not trying to rely on/impress/bond with the people around him. ‘Who you are in the dark’, and all.>>3417772The romance thing is a massive pain. At first I thought I’d allow some waifuing, but I didn’t want you guys to jump straight on First Girl (whoever that would be), and wanted something to properly develop. This was back in the days when I figured I’d get a few players max, and you’d be travelling the Blues by yourself. (HA HA THAT WORKED OUT WELL.)Now, though, added on to the fact that I’ve never written romance (I used to write and edit erotica for people, but that was... less romantic) not only do I not want to attempt it and fail, thus letting down players, there’s also the consideration that there’s enough players I don’t want to deal with waifu wars. I think the only real push for waifuing thus far is Tashigi, and honestly, I just can’t write Tashigi and Flashy. A bit of non-canon stuff? Sure. Actually trying to pair them in-quest? I wouldn’t even know where to start. As for Tashigi/Yu - honestly, it probably won’t even happen. I gave it a little go, but it isn’t really working out, and Yu swooning over Tasharry is pretty much just for the lulz.So at the moment, hard no on any romance or lewding in-quest (except SmokerxJustice, obviously). Will I maybe permit romance an in-game year down the line? Possibly. Will it be a big thing? No. Will I let you do anything with Tashigi? No, that’s your sister, you degenerates.(1/2)
>>3417778Sure, I had things planned. Then they went out the window. And exploded.>>3417780I absolutely love psychological bullshit and people faking/deceiving/manipulating, and generally have horrible self-defence mechanisms that are great short-term and mentally crippling in the long run. So how much is Flashy faking? Well, he’s maybe a teeeeensy little more affected his desire for affection than he’s admit to anyone, including himself. In another world, maybe he’d have fixated on a single individual and slowly slid into full-on yandere love-me-love-me mode. As it is, he’s balancing what he thinks maybe a half-dozen or so people WANT him to be, along with his own personality. Luckily, most of those people want him to be the same or similar things as what the others want, so he’s trying to get the right mix of ‘I’m competent, you can rely on me, don’t leave me!’ and ‘I’m fun and my dumbassery makes you feel smart and needed!’.Which has blown up in his face when he felt he needed to be competent in combat so as not to be disregarded, but also felt he wasn’t taken seriously enough to be allowed to take PART in combat. Whoops. Now I’m writing this, I’m definitely seeing a need for Flashy to be temporarily stripped of his anchor-people and figure out who he is when there’s no-one around he’s attached to. Hmm.Anyhoo, writing now (grandma is fine, by the way. AGAIN.), and thank you all for your helpful responses. I now know that you guys want a more serious quest, with robots and Flashy eating multiple Devil Fruits within the next 24 hours.>>3417793>zoro interludeur banned too
>>3417818You still working on that Lolanoa Zolo Intelrude?
>>3417818>I’m definitely seeing a need for Flashy to be temporarily stripped of his anchor-people and figure out who he is when there’s no-one around he’s attached toWell, we're approaching Alabasta and if the Straw Hats are still there, then there's a chance of Flashman dealing with the opposite scenario: surrounded by people who hate him and absolutely do not want him around. Except maybe Luffy, if he thinks us carrying a billion different weapons is cool.>>3417824Why have you done this? Now I have that damn theme song stuck in my head.
>>3417816>Now, though, added on to the fact that I’ve never written romance (I used to write and edit erotica for people, but that was... less romantic)The mistery is solved: Qm is affected by ptsd >>3417818>flashy aloneaaand, he's going to get kidnapped. neato
>>3417836It's time to acquire CrocoDad.
>>3417827...How would an accidentaly kidnapped by the strawhats story even go?Like we aren't marine enough and they aren't pirate enough, for us to hate each other once we've been around each other long enough. But Flash does have genuine reasons to be angry at most of the strawhats, and he'd never be able to tell smoker, hey the strawhats are ok actually.
>magical princess doomblood“You might not be able to fly, but turning into liquid is pretty cool,” you encourage. “You can go down cracks and get pretty much anywhere, you can’t be hit, you can even drown people on land! Uh. Don’t... don’t practice that one.”Mina gives you a look that tells you that even as a ten year old, she’s not THAT stupid. “I’m not gonna drown people, Flashy!”“Well. Good.”“Unless they’re pirates.”“Even better!” The pair of you high-five, bonding over the joy of killing the ever-loving crap out of CRIMINAL SCUM.Truly, the best little sister. In a few years, maybe you’ll even kill pirates together! Ultimate bonding!>(Second daily action? Alabasta tomorrow, remember!)>>3417824GET OUT OF THIS THREAD AND NEVER RETURN>>3417827I have various vague plans for how Alabasta works out (and also for Usopp), but (trying not to spoil anything), the massive canon changes you’ve kicked off may lead to some pretty intense Flashy+Strawhats interaction after Alabasta. Depends on how Garp/Ace/general-dice-bullshit works out. I have learned the true folly of Making Plans.>>3417844If you guys want to acquire CrocoDad, it’s possible, but I need to know pretty far in advance. And you’ll be separated from the crew for a while. And canon will crawl into a ditch and die, but I consider that a given so far, anyway.>>3417846I’m keeping my mouth shut as to specifics, but it’s definitely doable in at least two ways. One of which depends on you being a Charlotte grandkid, but still.

Today is a -NULL- Cigar day.
>>3417858SupportWe aren't totally dumb!
>>3417846I wasn't really thinking kidnap plot but more trapped with Strawhats, like Smoker in canon. Of course, canon is fucked but it's a possibility. As far as interactions go, it's really more about Flashman having to confront people without any need on his part to act up and play a character, because he genuinely hates them and knows to take them seriously (even if in other circumstances he'd be having drunk adventures with them).>>3417851>>3417858Supporting.
>CrocoDadOkay, I'd like to think that Anons are just memeing around with this but PLEASE let's not, even for the sheer wackiness of this quest I feel that is way too much.I could, however deal with Crocodile trying to use that approach if he attempted to convince Flashman into joining him.Why would Croc try to recruit Flashy? I dunno, I'm just spitballing what comes to mind here.
>>3417897Oh yeah, agree with this guy. I wouldn't mind if he was doing it to try and pass as an affable Emperor/Casino Owner, but once he's revealed as a big fuck, then nah
>>3417613Oh right, you were the one with the sword legs. My apologies, here's one of you and your cousin.>>3417699Joined in fairly early 1st thread, was the guy pushing for looking like Roy Mustang. What drew me to the quest initially was giving it a chance since it's a OP quest and you see very few of those last more than 5 threads at most. Ended up staying for the humor and suprisingly well developed characterization. I'm still hooked and keep up when I can. Despite the flack you give yourself for typos the question is well written and you keep things interesting. I also enjoy how you pipe into discussions and don't just drop updates while the anons post, always adds a bit of life to the thread. Nechanics are also beyter than most with a feeling of we're strong and there's improvement, but there's still a lot stronger foes, and training actually feels like training, not just maxing out a skill in a week. My only suggestion is mapping out "tiers" of strength for characters mechanics just so you have an idea jist who can beat who in the system. Like, how many dice liffy rolls, Garp's modifier, Coby's progression, etc. It'll save you a lot of trouble down the line.Over all the quest really has that feel One Piece has, I love it. I'd give the quest 2/10 not enough Ace Abs >:[ [/spoilers]
Sorry about delay, needed groceries.>educating harry "So tell me," you say, dropping yourself in the seat besides Curly like a small elephant, "What's Alabasta like?"Curly looks up at you from his book, and in both tone and word, says, "Dry.""... Yeah, I got that with the whole 'desert kingdom' thing. Apart from that?"You soon regret everything.Ten minutes after Curly decides you're legitimately interested in learning about his country, you have a basic understanding of the country's geography and major cities, thanks to a constant lecture and a neatly handdrawn map.Twenty minutes after, you also have a basic idea of the weather, clothing and food preferences.Thirty minutes after, a thorough overview of the royal family and political situation (well, Curly calls it basic, but it seems thorough to you).Forty minutes after, while Curly moves on to the most important imports (not sand) and exports (surprisingly, also not sand), you seriously consider faking a heart attack. But no!You are a strong, brave Marine, and you can keep your ears open and handle this!>Anything in particular you want to ask about?>>3418053Mapping out different rolls is a good idea, I'll probably draw up a list of major characters with some basic idea for how many dice they'll roll. At the moment aim obviously still messing around with the combat system, trying to account for differences between Blues and Grand Line, and keeping people improving without it seeming stupidly fast (to be honest, your Observation Haki IS too fast, but I'm putting that down to bullshit prodigy, Armament will be a lot slower if you learn that) or too slow to be relevant to the Strawhats. You'll soon be getting into characters rolling with 2d100s, so I'm hoping to have things more settled by then.

>>3418064>>Who are the really important people in Alabasta?>>Where do you think Baroque works will mostly be?
>>3417858>>3417851Support>Strawhat kidnappingIf it depends on us being a Charlotte then I'm guessing they snatch us to do a hostage exchange for Sanji / use as leverage against the Charlotte family / so they can flee the scene safely (if Flashma for some crazy reason actually beats them to Whole Cake). Whole cake arc is literally right after Dressrosa, which Flashman will 100% be there for, so it makes sense. >Flashman personality Actually I think what we see with Flashman IS pretty much his actual personality. Yeah he exaggerates this natural airheadedness to amuse / please people, but it's not like he's completely changing who he is around company just to win their approval. He's just naturally a ditzy golden retriever most of the time, but with a few complexes on the side. His big problem is the fear that people will leave him. I personally don't think he has a desperate need to surround himself with company at all times to drown out his loneliess or anything (going from what I've read), but that after his mother and father he carriers a niggling fear that those he gets close to will one day leave him (and deeply fears that it will be because he's not 'good' enough)
>>3418074>EmperorsPretty sure Flashman knows the difference between the Emperors and the Warlords, especially considering he's a marine
>>3418084Flash might!But I don't I get the terms swapped a lot......
>>3418067As someone who only seen anime with subs, this makes me want to stab my eardrums.
>>3418084Yep, I'd change that to a more general question about the Shichibukai situation if that vote wins. Even aside from going to the Marine Academy, it's pretty much impossible for anyone on the Grand Line to not know the basics of Emperors and Shichibukai. As an aside, I'll be saying Shichibukai instead of Warlords, unless people think that's off-putting?
>>3418064>>3418074>>3418080Can we combine these three? After that info bombardment from Curly we need to give as good as we got. >ArmamentFine with it being slow, so long as Flashy is at least decent with it post Timeskip, because if he's not by then then why the he'll bother with it in the first place. Honestly we don't really need it much pre timeskip anyway. Definitely do for post since everyone and their mother has it.
>>3418064>Armament will be a lot slower if you learn thatNot if this briefcase full of Nat 100s has anything to say about it!
>>3418064>>3418094Yes, I'd like to support asking everything. More info can't hurt.>>3418091Proper nouns and stuff like that are fine. They're pretty much interchangeable for me at this point. The only thing I'd ever get autistically angry about is nakama
>>3418094I'm gonna be honest - fuck timeskip. Work on the assumption there isn't going to be one. I'm going to be kicking the crazy-train up to 11, probably 12, and you've kicked off enough changes that Alabasta IS going to turn out differently, and only the Dice Gods know what's going to be happening by Water 7. Will there even BE a Water 7? I DON'T KNOW.>>3418099What's the deal with the big bad nakama word?
>>3418064>>3418094>>3418098>all this armament talkI still want to believe that we will find a way to skip it entirely and yet stay competitive without it.
>>3418114"I'm a logia so I automatically win""Damn"I wonder if the Blood Fruit allows for healing others or at least stopping bleeding.
>>3418114If we don't have armament we functionally cannot compete with anyone who does have armament, or has effects like the Gum Gum Fruit or a Logia.
>>3418128Seastone tipped weapons would like a word
>>3418109Oh come on now we haven't changed that....>Garp, Luffy, and Ace are all gonna be on Alabasta....Dear God what have done....
>>3418109The original One Piece subbers used nakama because they claimed it meant a group of people so close it was impossible to translate to English. In reality, it's just used to refer to a group, period. I don't really hate it that much, just a pet peeve. Weebism at its finest.
>>3418128Eh, the Gum Gum Fruit is only troublesome if we used Pistol-Chan or Jitte-San, the swords would still cut/pierce.I agree that Armanent is a must for the Post-Timeskip events/New World areas.
>>3418141To be honest, do you really expect a fansubber to have even know the word "friend" exists?
>>3418132*purposely breaks seastone weapon*
>>3418134I'm sure not everything is ruined. Events will surely conspire to ensure that the legendary Davy Back Fight still happens. It's the Will of D.

The real question is whether or not G8 will be happening.Fuck if that filler didn't deserve to be canon
>>3418114Seastone-capped boots, anon. As for defense side of things, D O D G E>i still haven't reread alabasta arc, so gonna be real vague but assume flashy got a good explanation"What about the pirate situation there," you manage to ask, as Curly pauses to take a sip of water. You don't really need to hear about famed theater productions. "One of the Shichibukai lives there, right?"Curly frowns. "Crocodile, yes. Or Lord Crocodile, as the people call him."Hm. You tilt your head, curious. "But not you?""The man is... a true pirate at heart, mi-mi-mi. As a Shichibukai, he should have stopped with his crimes against civilians, but in practice... he's merely quite excellent at hiding them. I wouldn't normally say this of such a person, but - well, I'll have more to say of him when I meet with your vice Admiral. I'm sure you'll learn whatever he considers necessary."That's weird. Curly seems overly reluctant to talk about him, which is understandable if the dude (Sand Logia, right?) is still doing piratey stuff - you know some Marines would turn a blind eye as long as it wasn't TOO bad - but still. Well, that's Garp's problem after the Baroque Works mess is sorted out.Next up, you ask him who the really important people in Alabasta are. This nets you an even more detailed explanation on the royal family (apparently the king is actually a decent guy and being framed by Baroque Works, so, uh, that's something that'll hopefully be sorted soon), various political figures, and some royal guards you might end up dealing with. Reluctantly, he also explains a little about the revolutionaries - small r, not the Dragon kind - and the like. Again, hopefully they won't be a problem soon, once they know the king isn't a psycho. As for where he thinks Baroque Works will mostly be... that's complicated. Curly keeps it vague again, this apparently being information for Garp and Smoboss, but Baroque Works is BIG, which means their agents will be pretty much everywhere. He gives a more detailed overview of different towns and the deserts though, so you guess it's worthwhile."The official reason for this ship and Vice-Admiral Garp's being in Alabasta is seeking the Strawhats, mi-mi-mi, considering they were rescued by Dragon," Curly explains. "We'll be swiftly noted by Baroque Works' spies, so we need a ready excuse for such a strong Marine presence.">(What's Flashy's opinion on the idea of Shichibukai, anyway?)>>3418134No, anon. They're all going to be in Nanohana. At once.Yuuuuuuup.>>3418141They are ohana now.>>3418166I fucking love Davy Back fights. Why have we never seen more?! Were the Foxy Pirates just making shit up?!>>3418169You are a gentleperson of taste.
>>3418175Find me the episodes, and I'll consider it. Is that the one where they get locked inside a Marine base and have to pretend to work there? Because I'm actually planning docked-at-a-Marine base shenanigans, and could probably fit that in.
>>3418180>>It's not like the idea of not evil is pirates is insane, we partied with those golden dragons, but making them high ranking officials just seems to be looking for trouble
>>3418180He understands the logic behind it but does not appreciate the fact that it essentially means pirates can run rampant and be rewarded for it - and since higher bounty means more incentive to stop their activities, the more damage they cause, the more likely they are to be offered a spot.>>3418182Yeah, it's the one where they meet another D. character but since it's filler, he wasn't allowed to have much impact on the plot, even though he probably could've made
>>3418199Apologies, I meant to say: even though he probably could've made a pirate as crazy as Foxy shit his pants.
>>3418182Episodes 196-206 according to the wiki.Like, I'm pretty sure the main reason the Foxy arc got the flack it did was because it came right after this gem of a filler arc. There's neat characterisation bits for the crew (especially Sanji), the humour is top notch (motherfucking CONDORIANO). It's just all round great
>>3418199I've read the wikia, can't see a D?Heading to eat, back soon.
>>3418190Just want to say here that their name translates to SMALL Dragon, not gold. The Captain is just a gold-freak.Also think we've got Flashy's opinions on Shichibukai pretty much settled, so that's good.NEXT UP, THE THING YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR... HQ's call regarding your transfer. While I'm writing that, by the way, I've been considering doing a non-canon thread (possibly some kind of what-if?AU) if I don't quite catch up in my Alabasta reading before everything kicks off. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but would you guys be up for that?
>>3418274Hell yeah. I'd love to see Son of Roger Flashman, for the sweet relationship dynamic with Ace.
>>3418298Son of Rayleigh, surely?

Or he thinks you're a brat. Whichever. You hustle your ass over to his office anyway, a little concerned to see the scowl on his face as he motions you inside. Has he found out you skipped out on duties to read comics with Mina? That's impossible, right? He jabs a finger at the seat opposite his desk, and you quickly sit down, trying to look both professional and innocent."Whatever you think I've found about, I don't care," Smoboss says bluntly. >>3418379Isn't Flashman's grandfather like super dead? Or do you mean grandpa in the sense we have like three dads?

"WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK, THAT'S STUPID.""Yep," says Smoboss, stubbing out a cigar."I'M PERFECTLY COMBAT-CAPABLE, I'M GOOD AT STABBING AND SHOOTING AND HITTING AND - AND KICKING PEOPLE IN THE BALLS!"Smoboss winces as he lights a new cigar. "Yeah, maybe don't brag about that one.""BUT WHY?!""People usually consider it cheating. Dumb, I know.""NO! I mean why was I turned down?!""Oh, that." He finally looks at uou properly, face annoyed. You're good enough at Smoboss Expressions to tell it isn't with you, though. "Look, brat - for all that you're a good fighter, there's a million other good fighters. And apparently the brass was pleased with the photos you've sent in - and there's a lot fewer good photographers in the Marines. Especially now they know you're on the Grand Line. Apparently the Photography Department got pretty excited when they heardnyou were out here, and figure they can send you off to take pictures of various pirates along our routes."You scowl. Intensely. "They can't order me to do that.""... Technically they can, being your bosses and all. And while normally I'd tell you to be careful disobeying orders while you're only an Ensign, I have SOME good news."You cross your arms in a totally non-sulky manner, slumping back. "Go on.""I wasn't exactly thrilled either, so I... discussed the matter with 'em." (You're pretty sure that means he yelled at them.) "I talked into two options, you pick which.""... Yeah?""Option one," Smoboss tells you, "is that you stay in the Photography Department, BUT you're allowed to fight. You'll sometimes be asked to take photos of pirates in the area, which might sometimes get you put on detached leave from the ship for a few days at a time, but I get the right to veto those if they get in the way of our combat duties."Huh."Second option - you have to stay in the department for now, and train up someone else to take your place as photographer. THEN you can transfer in a couple of months or so, once they're deemed competent.">???
Option one sounds pretty good to me, fighting is fun, but so are photos. Also imagine the look on a pirates face when we ask for a photo, they laugh in our face, we kick their ass, take the picture and walk out.
>>3418391I appreciate it Anon, but a little too late....can we still chairflip when we leave Smoboss' office?
>>3418394>Option oneBeing able to participate in battles was the only reason we decided to do this anyway. Trying to train someone else just seems like more of a hassle than doing the occasional photo job. Plus having to do spec ops trying to sneak a photo of a pirate actually sounds pretty fun.
>>3418394>>May as well go with option one.>>I'm still going to flip a table as a sign of protest though

>>3418394>Option OneI mean... it's not bad? As long as Smoboss doesn't just dump us when we're detached from the ship. You wouldn't do that, right, dad?
>>3418394>Option oneHahahahahaha there's no way we're not fighting when Alabasta is literally right around the corner.
>>3418394>option oneI mean, it's all we really wanted. Besides now we can keep the camera. We can even use it in combat! >Flashman's "Final Flash": Blind an opponent with a high beam flash photography shot, one shot them while they're dazed
>i appreciate you guys keeping the title, that would have been a painYou let a looooong sigh of seething indignation. "The first is okay. I guess."Smoboss gives you a pointed look. "Shall I confirm that with them?""... Yes.""Good. As for your first assignment, you're supposed to get pictures of the Strawhats - Witch Thief Nami, Cheapshot Sanji, and the unknown guy."You nod. "So I should focus on them. Got it.""Screw that. I said that's what you're SUPPOSED to be doing. If you think we're just going to stand around and let you take photos of them, your head's too full of swords." He scowls. "We're arresting these punks, come hell or high water.""... I don't think we'll get high water in a desert country, bossman.""Then I guess we'll be in for Hell instead," Smoboss replies, as if stating a fact. "Anyway, we'll be docking in Nanohana tomorrow; you've got a few options before I draw up final arrangements for day...">1) Go with Smoboss and Curly to meet with Garp while they finalize arrangements.>2) Take a bunch of infantry to deal with supplies. "Normally I'd say that's bullshit. But it's Garp, so you're probably right."In any case, the pair of you condemn yourselves to the upcoming horror. Tashigi will be dealing with supplies instead (and taking Hat and Sunglasses with her), Mina and Yu will stay on the ship (partly for their own protection, and partly because deserts and mermaids don't mix), Fop will be checking the town for any information, and Klaus will be... you don't know, but you suspect the answer is 'as far from Garp as possible'.>Confirm arrangement?>Dispute Smoboss' arrangement?>>3418470You would have got to pick your companions for the trip, much like you did in Renaisse, but alas! >>3419465I'm gonna be honest with you, I stopped keeping track a while back and have just been using your pastebin to check shit (and if it isn't quite up to date, checking the posts since it, so thanks for listing latest update post number). But, uh, it all looks good to me? Awakening seems right, Haki seems right, Combat and non-Combat skills seem right (although swimming should be in non-combat and metal cutting in techniques... I think you've already added the +2 into Swordsmanship that B5 metal cutting gives).Apart from those, it's all good, soldier! >>3419771yeah the one i was worried about was sword since that was lower than fans and jitte until recently which seemed odd to me (And yes metal cutting sword +2 is included). i also figured the post number would help keep it accurate so go me. I'll also switch swimming and metal cutting. Also sorry if my OCD in keeping things ordered from highest to lowest makes it hard to find things but it makes it feel right to me.
>>3419926It's cool, your gains in swords have been slower lately because a) it gets harder to raise skills when they're at higher levels and b) you've been focusing on metal-cutting and Klaus' style. Plus some gains have gone into Raccoon style rather than general Swordsmanship. Anyway, the pastebin looks good to me, and very helpful, thanks. Now if you guys had managed to break the DC for Klaus' bullshit, you'd have got a Swordsmanship boost... but alas, it was not to be.Currently re-reading Alabasta! "All right! Let's go!"Aah, subordinates. So malleable. You guide the group as quietly as possible towards the office, steering then clear of any windows or creaky deck planks. Klaus is obviously less than enthused, but blackmail is a wonderful thing, as you silently point and nudge the others to different spots along the side of the office. You won't hear as much here as the window or door, but you're less likely to be caught.Settling down and carefully placing the bag Bogart gave you aside, you press your ear against the wall as the others do the same.(71 - 10 = 61)It isn't... great. Garp's pretty clear (thanks for being loud), and you catch some of what Smoboss and Curly say, while if Bogart says anything at all, you have no idea. Quiet dude.Whatever's going on, the loudest and clearest thing you're getting is condemnation of Crocodile. Not surprising, you know Smoboss doesn't like Shichibukai and Curly said he's committing crimes, but isn't that a post-Baroque Works sort of problem? They're talking about him and Rainbase, the casino city - maybe he's laundering money for Baroque Works? There's something about 'Dance Powder' (drugs?), before the conversation dulls down too much for you to hear it. A few minutes of barely-caught words (did you hear Dragon mentioned?) before a furious Smoboss practically roars, "Fucking Strawhat!", followed by Garp's unholy laughter.(1/2)
Rolled 1 (1d100)You and Pinky, the nearest person, share a confused look and shrug. So Crocodile is doing something illegal and probably Baroque Works-related in Rainbase, Strawhat Luffy is pissing Smoboss even more than before, and from bits and pieces scattered here and there, it sounds like the revolutionaries are pretty damn numerous. Like, there's a whole damn army of them. And they're gearing up for something. You can't help but wonder why Garp dumped all of you outside. Smoboss obciously give a shit what you heard (but then, this is Smoboss), so there's clearly something in the meeting that the Brass don't think it's suitable for low-rankers to hear. Curly certainly had things he didn't want to tell when you asked.Scraping chairs from inside tells you to move, and the four of you promptly move yourselves as quickly and quietly as you can away from the office. And Garp. Especially Garp.(Acquired Stealth skill +8!)"Well, I hope you kiddies enjoyed that giant waste of time," Klaus gripes, once the four of you have scrambled out of sight.
