And now, for the report - we commissioned an expedition by sea along the coast beyond Dabar, our southernmost trading partner, starting last year. The ships have all returned safely now, bearing news and exotic goods in small amounts.

Dabar, the port from which our expedition truly begins, lies at the edge of the massive Al-Hasham desert. The Dabarians themselves claim to be of an old seafaring stock and their major trading partners in the south, along several ports, are all cousins of theirs who over the centuries settled along the suitable coastal areas of the Al-Hasham. The desert's interior itself is home to nomads and other strange folk who to us Dumin may seem to be the same as the Dabari, but according to the latter are a fouler folk. Of that, we see some evidence during our expedition - the coastline south of Dabar is barren for many days of travel, the occasional fishing village being the most one could find. The first proper town we saw was half-ruined, with barely anyone in it. It is weeks after leaving Dabar that we finally reach another proper city, one which we were refered to from our starting point - located in the more hospitable Watub peninsula alongside several others, the city of Parush is a desolate ruin, most people living in tents around the city - many as slaves. The Hasham ends as a desert and turns into a dry steppe around these areas and it is the people of those steppes, the men of Burak, who now dominate, a young empire of their own having been founded to the east of the Watub peninsula, its raiders sacking those cities who refuse to pay tribute - such as Parush, where our ships only briefly stay. The Buraki and Watubi are swarthy folk both, but it is here that we for that we see what was a rare sight in Dabar even - the people of the rainlands as they are called, a most darkskinned folk of notably different features. Some communities of their kind have settled in the peninsula, we are told, but many others are slaves brought in as both the men of Watub and Burak raid into the southeast for the riches of the many small kingdoms that dot those humid lands.
Past Parush, lying at a cape on the tip of the peninsula, is the only somewhat lively city in the area, Tafral. Its walls are sturdy and it lies the furthest away from Burak, but even so their livelyhood is only possible thanks to substantial tribute that they pay to the riders from the east, whose great herds of camels and horses allow them to both dominate the inland trade and the conquest of these lands.
These lands hold wealth in salt, ivory and perhaps of more interest, a bitter, yet energising drink made of dark beans called qahwah, a word somewhat hard to pronounce. One sailor decided to call it kave instead and it stuck among most.
By the time we reached Tafral, our ships had sailed for well over a month past Dabar and it was decided that we'd best return for the time being.

Trade ladyas made for longer sea voyages are now being built - not counted towards the Grand Knyazdom's navy itself, as they are not meant for combat, their purpose being to maximize cargo capacity. With our methods of shipbuilding and technology, this might be the peak of what we can accomplish, with the ships made longer and wider, a main sail being most important for such travel.

It is the year 1180. The 1160-1170 decade saw many factions being set back by their participation in the war and the ways that affected even those who stayed neutral. The faction projects you can now do will be for the entire 1160-1180 period - rather than giving a minus to those who took damage in the war, I'll give a plus to those who suffered the least from the war and its aftermath. If you think you're one of them for some reason(did not participate in the war, the reconstruction or you're a rare case of actually benefiting from it materially) then you can mention it in your project now.

Next thread, hopefully one of the later weekdays.

With the end of the war and the ascension to Sainthood of Gregor the Pious the cathedral construction would continue with the new name of the Cathedral of St. Gregor. With funding from the Candorain church the cathedral would be constructed in the most modern styles with a true Bishop being invited to rescind their. They would also house the bones of our new saint attracting pilgrims from all over the world.

Vedro Tribe
----------------

while the vedrotol lands where untouched, they did suffer some losses during the war.

---------------
Old Description :

Mostly made by commoners and the Vedrotol themselves they are farmers and woodcutters to the east of Vingradets. While not rich, intelligent or powerful they have with perseverance and fatigue carved from the forest their lands. They are followers of Volh but as the priests have seen many times they can t grasp several concepts of their faith. Still the tribesman of Vedro love their religion and give it an important position in their lives while not working, training or drinking. In regards to unbelievers they find it absurd, that someone else could not pray to Vohl or one of the other 3 great spirits. They wonder if they will have ever time to talk with one of this southerners and their "great god".
Faction Project :

(elite heavy infantry)

Raise of the Vedro Brutes

After the civil war, there was no victory only a white peace. The relations with white swords boyars where bad as always, same with the ones that didn t partecipate.

Vlomen became a men with too many regrets. Becoming unripe and distant, he was only interested by war. What happen at Sekorek could just quickly happen here in the Vedrotol lands, thinked the lord of the Vedro.

Devastation and death everywhere, for avoid it just men with the only occupation of war would be good in the next conflicts. The militia and levys where not always prepared, they wheren t warriors for all their lives afterall.
So Vlomen raised a new force of men. From some of the strongest of the family and the tribe. They would have been warriors for life. But choosing them was not easy, and their numbers become fewer and fewer, every day of training. Vlomen wanted only men always prepare for war and no friendship, respect or relation of blood would have care for him in this matter.

He trained them in formation and alone, in forests and plains. Training and marching they would have only know.

They would have been a force of champions to deal with, and their equipment would have been of proper champions : meshes of iron and mantles of furs, helmets with red plumes and iron masks, durable and decorated gloves and knee pads, and for weapons strong shields and iron maces with a well made knife as last resource.

The Vedro Brutes where born, a small force of elite heavy infantry only interested in war and their training. In a way a distorted idea of the holy warriors of the spirits or of the theo "knights". Thirsty for glory and blood, and obsessed by war with Vlomen training and teachings.

They would have avoid that Vedro and the Vedrotol would be harmed.

And they would have always fight alongside their kin and Boyar.

The Valkovich Family
Assets:
-The village of Volkon
-Small, poorly constructed port on the Alga
-Small, modestly armed defensive army
-Agricultural and lumber industries

Faction Project: Pagan expansionism. Though they took heavy casualties during wartime raids and lent aid to the reconstruction of Sekorek, The Valkoviches soldier on with their own project. Boris seeks to solidify the Pagan religion in Volkon and the surrounding land controlled by the family. After banning Theophantism, he commissions the construction of a Pagan temple, similiar to the one in the capital, albeit much smaller in size and of primarily wooden construction. Though more modest in size, Boris nonetheless orders the architects to attempt to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible and encourages them to think outside the box. He wants it to serve not just as a symbol of the Pagan faith, but also as a monument to those who fought and died for Paganism.

The cult of Animals, worship just that animals, by and large, they live in anprim way, being a very backwater group, they commune with the forest through ritualistic dances, usually including sword dancing, hunting isn't something that's usually among them but it is allowed if the situation is honorable, meaning only one on one, and honest meaning no poison or anything like that. They embrace each major animal and its spirits, this includes the bear, the boar, crow, wolf, eagle, and Fox are all worshipped equally although one of the two current leaders Varg, focuses on them quite a bit, something which is criticized by Klas, and keeps him from grabbing all the power of the group.

Priests are called Volh, and are the ones who do most of the rituals but may sometimes bring up others to let them aid them in their communication, through journeys to hard places or drugs.
The new developments of religion have caused outrage, protesting against such things. They focus mostly on fighting back the influence for now, But a recent group in the Cult wants to take up arms, recently emboldened by support from Varg.

While they aren't militant there are fanatics promoting anti-theopantics ideas
They organize more like a terrorist group, operating in lots of cells being spread out across the country, while this leaves them disorganized it also makes them very hard to track down the leadership, meeting in different places, usually houses dug into the hills or making journeys up the mountain for meetings.
Assets: Lots of hiding places, obscure locations, lots of fanatics, Animal communication, Great spirit worship. Ursir Beast speaker refugees

FP: With all the deaths of leaders, people and cultists, the beast cult sends out their now reformed priests being sent out to spread literacy and reinforce the faith.
While this is going on the eagle-blessed will try to recruit more Volh to replenish their numbers.

The Zagadka got off every lightly in the war, few losses and lots of time practising their craft. Not only that but in the face of their competitors town being in such a state it would be foolish not to develop and capitalise upon it. Those with trade skills were welcomed into the lands, siege engineers, smiths and craftsmen. All in the name of turning the region into a vibrant region of craftsmen and development! All in all they have been hoping the lessons learnt in the war, the talent they could sweep up and the combination of these skills by having a population not decimated should see they soar! Best of all? no oaths broken.

The Cult of Water
(The Vodniki)

Worshippers of what they call the lifeblood of the world, a large amount of the cults presence resides in or near their holy site, Vodniki, though wherever water may be they can be found. The main worship of the cult is to the water beings and spirits who according to the cult, reside in bodies of water, be it sea or swamp. They say these beings, while powerful and sometimes fierce are kind and help nurture the body and crops of those who pay tribute. Because of this, the cult takes violent action against any who poison or corrupt the flow, seeing it as an attack on life itself. The title of Caretaker of the Waters is usually given to those who devote themselves to tending to certain, specific bodies of water and their spirits.

Assets:
-Volnutes
-Large amount of worshippers/Caretakers
-Various tiny camps on the coast and inland bodies of water
-Fishing boats

Faction Project: After the expedition to The Rusalkan Isles, The Vodniki were abuzz with excitement. Zora Orelik, the new Head Priestess, decides that furthering our relations with these divine beings is of top priority for the cult. The cult sails as many times as they can to the islands, bringing gifts and sacrifice. They hope to learn more from these beings and what their connections to the spirit realm are and possibly build a small temple, so that they may be able to live close by. Those who go are mainly spare caretakers of both salt and fresh water.

(Unsure if I would get a bonus or not. I did “fight” in the war on the pagan side, but sustained very little, if any, damage to my assets or people.)

Ruling in his father's stead while Ozren was away, Bogudan proved less apathetic and frivolous than his predecessor, putting all men to work. Having lost only 90 men in the war (the crews of the three sunken ships) and having the carnage of battle taking place to the east in the Sekorek region, no major restoration work had to be done after the war.

Faction project: Expand naval power
The Yaruszin fleet has not grown much in the last decades; each year only constructing so many new ships, and every few years losing some to war or attrition. Bogudan, however, does not wish to see this trend continue and will put all three of his shipyards to work mass producing ships, and later on maintaining them. With Valkovich lumber men put to work cutting down trees, and Yaruszin shipwrights building the ladyas, construction can be started rather fast. Both sea and river ladyas shall be built and upon completion be available to hire by any nobles with coin and naval ambitions.

Rhemani

Assets:
-Several thousand
-Wagons/Tents
-Woodworking Tools
-Axes/Archery

The Rhemani have always been close to the spirits. In their perilous journey from afar, where Shlin raiders, starvation, sickness, injury and death lurked around every corner they did everything they could to petition luck and favor on their side, believing it could mean the difference between life or death. Every new day is a roll of dice, a tarot card drawn, a spirit pleased or displeased, a blessing or an omen. Every wagon contained a miniature collection of shrines to dead ancestors and gods they had found along the way, some whose names they didn't even know or understand but worshiped anyway in the hope of their favor.

In this atmosphere of superstition, it was the Rhemani women who gained true insight. Whether it was because they simply understood the hearts of their men better than they did themselves, or if it really is true that demons and warlocks found them fair in times long past and covorted with them imbuing a bit of their of blood into the lines, from the young child who interprets palms to the old crone eyes squinting at her candle lit glass ball, they nurtured the fear and respect of the spirits in the hearts of men, figuratively or otherwise.

In this new land, the fortune teller women claimed they sensed new spirits to be appeased. Not the spirits of the steppe lands, nor the desert sands, but spirits of wood, and earth, and trees that surrounded them always.

"The spirits of nature are strong here" they would say "fell no more trees than you need," "sacrifice upon sacred stones in sacred places you find" "add some mandrake and bark to your shrines"

Whether these things would truly make them closer to the local spirits or simply adapting to the local climate, the Rhemani mystics plied their ways to it. And they were very good at it. Wherever the convoy of colorful wagons went, where inside were women in colorful robes and scarfs, many foreigners came to them to have their past, present, and future read. And many did find good or ill fortune and believed.

The Uzhnei Plainsmen

After the conquest of Olfa and Uzhnei by the Dumin and the Olkans; the remaining Uzhnei spent the next two decades nigh-leaderless. Without the help of the Olfans and with a general lack of care from their new lieges, the Uzhnei fled back to their marshy homelands. But many banded together under a Velikiy Zupan: Beloje Luksa, unwilling to let go of their homes. Velikiy Zupan Beloje marched to the capital of the conquerors: Knezdvor, in hopes of being recognized as a noble by their Duma and being granted dominion over the old Uzhnei lands. In exchange, he would swear fealty to Dvoreshka, establish a proper dominion over the eastern Uzhnei lands, and bring as many men as possible to aid the Dumin in their new wars.

Assets:
-Luksingrad (Marketplace)
-Most Uzhnei tribes in the lowlands
-Horses with their respective pens.
-Cavalry tradition of the Luksa family.

After settling Luksingrad, the Luksa family began envisioning plans of giving it a proper port to benefit from the southern seas trade. The civil war and the dire winter that sprang through it forced zupan Beloje to focus his attention on securing the lowlands, but now the time was ripe to properly establish this port. Trade with Dabar was flowing again, and the discovery of the strange lands further south provided many opportunities to get strange and foreign goods flowing into the country quickly and efficiently. Beloje's plan mainly relied on spreading goods faster from his port to the south of Dvoresh, avoiding reliance on the western ports.

>Per Bulgar, I can also have one Project for late joiners

The Rhemani have always favored archery and ranged weapons over anything else. In part due to the nature of their exodus, they were always the ones pursued rather than the pursuers. Fending off Shlin horsemen from behind bush, scrub, tree and even at times behind their own wagon homes arrayed in a circle as a wall between them and the raiders.

Early in their journeys, they met some escaped Shlin captives. Through broken Shlin, translated into Rhemani, they were able to piece together that they had been captured from the east of Shlin, though how they arrived there isn't clear.

But these described a form of bow at the time unknown to the Shlin, but shown to them. It crossbar and means to hold a taught bow and something to easily loose it with the finger push. Now they have learned it is called a crossbow, and is not new technology even here. It is known that the lands of Candor have crossbows as well.

The Rhemani liked the weapon, but often on journeys had neither the time, resources, and most importantly spare wood to try and craft them. But now they had all this and more.

If what the escapees said was true, they even described a small form of crossbow. This had a leaver which could easily pull the string in one hand, and a small box to hold several bolts atop it.

Wanting to defend their new home, many Rhemani, already expert carpenters and craftsmen having done much to maintain and repair the many wagons that brought them thus far, as well as being familiar with bowcraft, try and replicate the weapons on their own using the available forests and trees, and make as many of them as they can. Making different kinds, big and small, short and long.

Tribe of Vyat:
Settled by the coastline west of Svetales, the Vyati have always been undividedly devout followers of the Durvid. They are concentrated in the coastal town of Celllom though many farmsteads dot the plains inbetween there and the forest's edge. Great value is placed upon honor with duels over personal slights commonplace among their foolhardy youths. To dishonor yourself by lying or breaking your word is paramount to committing murder in their eyes. Even greater is the pursuit of glory that drives their people to organize raids upon the Mochorans to the north. While some would consider them pessimistic, the Vyati simply view death as a transition between either being reborn once more or joining the ancestors in a blessed existence. This burgeoning warrior culture has climaxed in the ascension of Boyar Stanimir who has begun organizing his people once more for a time of war.

Assets:
-Small Coastal Town (w/ Palisade, Roads, & Market)
-Scattered Farmsteads
-Mid-Sized Ranger Order
-Durvid Advisors
-Outposts in all Major Forests

Faction Project: Increase size of Small Coastal Town and number of Farmsteads by attracting refugees

It's been a long war but Boba is glad to finally return home to focus on less controversial problems. One of the foremost goals of his father and his father before him was increasing the number of citizens that they could draw upon in Celllom. More serfs meant more wealth and more levy in times of war after all. Yet even the great Stanimir had failed in this pursuit even with the backing of the crown behind him. He had one advantage his forebearers didn't and that lay with the recent civil war that had ravaged the lands to his south. His own tribe remained virtually untouched by the civil war even as thousands of serfs and peasants starved in the south. Soon both criers and rangers would head south to convince the people of the ravaged lands to move to greener pastures. He'd offer generous land grants, tax cuts, and small sums of money to those that would make the journey north to his homeland. He'd even allow Theophantist settlers to join their caravans though he often questioned his own sanity in allowing a snake into his garden. All in the spirit of reconciliation. While all of the south would see their recruiters, they would especially flock to Sekorek whose populace was undoubtedly sick of living in burnt-out homes and stepping over rotting corpses.

Recovery in your lands goes well enough and in 1172 the cathedral is finished and opened for visitors - the addition of stained glass windows required some masters from Candor to come, but it is well worth it now as it stands as a proud and beautiful temple of God, dedicated to St. Gregor 'The Pious' of Blagograd and pilgrims flock over time.

The eagle-blessed make good gains in recovering the numbers of the warrior volh across the years of their lives remaining, while your less bloodthirsty priests focus well enough on literacy, establishing by 1180 enough scholastic presence in Zverasbor itself to fill the needs of your cult, the sacred writing being of course in the script of stone, though most know the Candorian script as well.

A combination of compiling local knowledge spread out across the land, the services of accomplished occultists being sought out at Knezdvor and texts from Candor coming through Olka allow the learned elite of Dvoreshka to begin delving into the sciences - the studies of mathematics, philosophy, alchemy, language and writing beyond holy scriptures and practical records, writing for the purpose of conveying deeper thoughts or emotions, now has a presence here. While not having too many direct applications on its own, this direction of our studies will definately benefit all further aspects of our advancements.

In the first month of 1181, Grand Knyaz Alyosha Alexov, nearly sixty years of age, drunkenly stumbled off the side of one of the newly constructed sea ladyas he commisioned a year prior, drowning in the cold water.

A new Grand Knyaz must now be chosen by the Duma.
Present your candidacy with at least the following as information:

Name:
Age:
Skills/Accomplishments:
Promises/Beliefs:
The first candidacy comes forth from Knyaz Dragoslav Gregorovich of Yantar, 24 years old as of 1181, son of Vsevolod, well-known across the people of Knezdvor for his interest in all manner of subjects, a man believed by many to be blessed of great intellect, knowing several languages already. He promises to finish the old project for the Great Roads, to lead expeditions that will expand Dvoreshka's knowledge of the world and its standing as a modern nation and not some backwards tribe, yet to also be an alert and astute leader who protects the realm. Though a pagan, he is like his father in that he is not known to frequent temples much.

Faction Project: Create a force of Sea Warriors/Marines that can fight in both Land and Sea

Clan Moreshki will focus on creating a Warrior Lodge of Sea Warriors that are adept at fighting on both Land and Sea. They will be mostly medium infantry, capable of raiding coastal areas but also holding their own in boarding actions upon enemy ships and sailing in general. This will truly enhance Dvoreshka's capabilities at sea!

As for how devastated I was by the war, while I did heavily participate in the fighting, no fighting happened in my lands.

Ladyas usually don't have room for too many men outside their own crews, so naval attacks tend to involve the sailors regardless, but you've committed to bringing your saliors to a higher standard and they are now equal to the regular soldiery in their ability to fight on land and definately better at ship-to-ship fighting. "My lords! The beacons are lit!" One of the Prince's Guard says, barging into the Duma chambers in Knezdvor Palace.
"The Ursir fleet sails down the Alga, they have passed Sekorek already and are headed this way!"
The mumble grows into roars of anger from some of the boyars. A few prepare to leave immediately, to see to the defence of their estates. No word has been received from Ursir of any diplomatic intent on their side, so we can not say for sure what is going on. What is known is that here in Knezdvor we have 30 river ladyas, 20 sea ladyas, the Prince's Guard which numbers several dozen men - and besides them, no other standing forces besides the boyars and their retinues.

A mere two days later, while levies in surrounding regions have only just started rallying, the fleet arrives - its size is unsurpassed in all our known history, a force of over eighty and possibly as many as a hundred longships of varying sizes. Our delegation at the river docks is joined by Knyaz Dragoslav of Yantar, the only one who has been able to bring in his personal forces into Knezdvor, just a few hours ago. The ships of the Ursir make their stop, taking up space without regard for the locals' comfort - seeing our delegation, one of the larger ships approaches and before it has even fully halted its own momentum, a large man stands by its prow, as though ready to jump off to the side. Warriors and servants rush to get to his side as his own movements seem to have surprised them, beginning to speak in a mostly understandable form of the Dumin language, though noticably accented, to us.
"I am Hrork Second, Konungr, conqueror and ruler of Alga. Today I and Ursir fleet stand to see Knyaz on knee in swearing of oath to me. Your land is now Ursir, your spirits and gods are now servants for the great Raven. If you fight, you will die and burn. Olka will not help, they war in own east lands and lose many already. Go on knee and swear now, for life and all children's lives." the man says.

The bottle would've hit his head, but he was already leaping off the ship to stand near you, so it only hit him in the chest with a thud. His shieldbearers follow right after and join him on the pier, to protect from any other stray projectiles lobbed his way. You see as men from many other ships stand ready to jump down as well.
"I take challenge for fight, little Knyaz. I hear that you are far-away cousin of mine, so is good to remove you."
Hrork II stands somewhere between six and seven feet tall, large shield held in his left hand and fine sword in his right. He bangs the sword on his shield and prepares to charge as soon as Boba is ready to fight.

With the bloodline of both Stanimir and Hrork running through him, Boba stands tall and muscled just nearing around six foot. He's more suited to archery like any ranger but his skill with with the blade and axe is still undeniable. He hopes that it will be enough as he pulls the sword handed down from his grandfather free with his left hand and grasps the freshly-forged hand-axe with his right.

Boba charges forward to meet Hrork but will dodge to the side at the last moment. He'll attempt to overwhelm him with blows from his axe all the while his sword attempts to find purchase around the side of his shield. May the spirits of the forest watch over him.

Hrork's sword is coming towards your left, so you dodge to the right, but he reacts immediately by swinging his shield like a door opening, knocking you back and out of balance. He is back on the attack against you a second time - you try to back away and deflect his strikes, but to no avail, one cut opening a wound across your left shoulder - with all the force you can muster, you attempt to pierce through with your left when he opens up his shield to push your axe to the side - your sword hits metal and slides off the rings of mail, its trajectory having gone too far to the side - while Hrork's sword embeds itself into your torso, all his force delivered into the point.

The others around see as Hrork lifts Boba up a few inches from the ground and whispers something to him, before throwing him down. He would've moved for an additional finishing blow, were it not necessary to react to two other attackers.

Boris' axe hits the end of the longsleeved hauberk covering Hrork's right arm - though not a clean slice through meat and bone, it is force that is delivered and passes across the metal for a cut to the flesh beneath. Hrork's grip over his sword weakens, barely able to hold it for a few moments, but with his left he is able to block against old Luksa's strike. In the seconds that follow, Hrork's shieldbearers who had formed a demicircle around the dueling rulers cut down both assailants.
Hrork crouches down to the dying Boba's side, raising his head so he can look.
"See what people you throw your life for. You have the blood of Hrork for sure, cousin, your children will be safe for honor you show me. Now rest."

Knyaz Yaroslav stands atop the walls of Sekorek looking at the army that has been arranged bellow the walls. He sees the numerous banners banners of the Ursir and the banners of the coeardly Dvoreshkans who had bent their knee to the foreign invaders. These banners he had seen before standing against him before when the civil war had raged. Yet, it is not those banners that fill his heart with sorrow and rage, for he had no expectations from such snakes. No, it is the banners he recognizes as those he has rode into battle with. His former comrades that once fought side by side against the tyranny of the Grand Knyaz.

He turns his back to the enemy army and faces his own men. A pitifull number of them are proffesional soldiers, most being boys and old men who in ordinary times would never see battle. His heart sinks once again as he realizes that most of them would die on that day. But, he will not despair, he will not beg and weep, he will proudly stand for his father's ideals and die defending the honor of his ancestors. Lastly, he looks upon his most elite soldiers. Each man has fought with him in the civil war and they have forged a bond of blood that no Ursir weapon could cut. Their faces filled with resolved eased Yaroslav's heart as he once again turned to his men.

He speaks to the men with a booming voice.
"Men, heroes, soon the enemy will be upon us. Their numbers are overwhelming, their equipment is superior. There exists no hope of us winning this battle. Your lives were nonexistent the moment that army surrounded our city. Yet, shall we just lay here and let them stomp over us like we are nothing?! It is a duel between two men of valor, blow exchanged for blow, some deflected by parry, others landing on sturdy armor - yet a feint from Razvigor towards Luksa's neck then is redirected to his wrist, cutting in deep enough to cause the rebel leader to drop his sword and instinctively almost drop to a knee in pain.

The battle was neck and neck before that point, but Luksa keeps his end of the bargain and orders his men to stand down - most obey that order, a few loose groups disperse into the hinterlands.

King Hrork's army arrives in the region some time later, regrouping with his southern vassals during the winter and offering Luksa the chance to bend the knee and retain his land and title after a hostage is taken or to die.

As soon as the snows have melted in the spring of the following year, the King gives the order for his vassal forces to move on Samograd to bring down the last rebel stronghold. Those who are sworn to the King, roll for this.

After several failed assaults, it was Borege's men that took the walls and opened the gates of the Samogradian fortress, their momentum unstoppable. After the castle's fall, the remnants of the mountaineers, having inflicted heavy casualties upon the attackers, began withdrawing into the mountains, but the Borege pursuit caught up to them and slowed their main force down enough for Hrork's own men to arrive and encircle them - there, a very aged Kenan Radjan, leading the survivors of his band, was given the final offer presented to others before him - surrender and retain land and title at the cost of a hostage or be destroyed...

Kenan's tackle can not get past his foe's shield - instead, he is pushed away, then hit with the sword's pommel in the face twice and downed. Kenan's hand pounds the ground next to him thrice - the duel and, broadly, the war, ends.

Lands across the nation are redistributed as Dvoreshka becomes a vassal state. For the time being, King Hrork decrees that Knyaz Dragoslav of Yantar shall be granted Knezdvor for his family to hold and rule as Velikiy Knyaze of Dvoreshka henceforth. The Duma will be allowed to convene as usual, though the Gregorovich Grand Knyaz will have delegates from Hrork's men there watching its activity. Insofar as your lands go, you still can build and maintain the mundane matters that provide you with wealth, which shall flow to Sekorek, now Hrork's seat in the region, as tribute every year.

Sisterhood of Spirits
In ages passed the Pagan beliefs were more feral and free form but recent times have seen them become more refined, writing and more unified teaching. Having observed the spread and structure of the Theopan faith an idea has emerged. Those dedicated to the faith wear more formalised robes and icons, a uniform and set body markings denoting their Spirit of focus and rank within this new sisterhood. Often taking the form of a shroud and small chains wore around the neck bearing the symbol of their chosen Spirit...the idea is simple to create a sense of majesty and unity of those whom devote themselves to the faith, to intrigue and inspire for to show all of themselves to the world may not be a sin but it is more worthy of respect to maintain ones honour for only the Spirits.

The Sisterhood of Spirits is established as a more refined priesthood dedicated to our native spirits here in Dvoreshka.
In late 1185, news arrives - Olka's costly war with their eastern neighbours is over and lost, lands and wealth along with it. King Hrork expects us to ready our armies for war in turn.

In the interest of public safety and security every Boyar and Knyaz shall have a small standing force of 100 men that shall be armed and training at all times. These men shall act as unit leaders when times of war come and raids are required. This allows for the majority of the population to retain their duties but have leadership and experience available in times of need. These 100 men shall be exempt from taxes to make up for the fact they will be busy training. They will be provided equpment by the state but upkeep is up to them.

Lighter mail will manufactured for this army. It will a standing professional army provided by taxes and loot. Long rectangular shields and short swords are the order of the day or whatever you can scrabble apart from the shield. New shield training and battle line formations. Training will be hard and long to turn pathetic peasants into proper soldiery.

New formations and forms wilk be theorized by the scholar of pechatar university. This will be tested and implemented. There will be officers for every 100 men. 1 non commissioned officer per 10 men to hold discipline.

These units will make up of 10 hundred men companies under a knyaz or high boyar.

The Grand Knyaz's own stables are able to equip some and for the rest, horses are bought where needed, men armed and being trained and led by the Prince's Guard.
Come springtime, King Hrork will expect your forces to be ready, including those of the regional levies. His own forces will focus in Poledzhie and aim to reach the capital, Strazka; He'll expect two forces from Dvoreshka, one at the Blagograd pass, to force through and enter Predgorie and another in the south, to enter Olfa and if possible take the city of Jaroslavizh. Loot and land are promised, depending on your contribution to this war.

State how great a force you will send from your own faction - token, moderate, large or none (all of these being per your own faction's standard). If you have any specific forces you're contributing, you may mention them, as well as any commanders you'd put forward.

The forces of the Grand Knyaz, the Borege, the Volh, the Aynur, Jarek's League, the Derevos, Samograd and Blagograd are to force the pass and the Samogradians are ordered to go in first to assault the castle guarding its other side. Grand Knyaz Dragoslav Gregorovich, Knyaz Niko Brutislav and Ceco Tagatev are appointed commanders here.
Vedrotol, Plavisk, Wotrek, Jutrodrvo, Moreshki, Luksa and parts of the Ursir fleet will be tasked with conquering Jaroslavizh. Commanders here are Knyaz Yaroslav Moreshki, Knyaz Vortkye of Wotrek and Gorm Stigandisson, leader of the Ursir fleet, are in command there.

For the initial offensive, let the commanders + Samograd roll. Give strategic ideas to possibly boost your odds of success.

By some twisted irony of fate, the Samogradians were able to climb up the walls and open the gates, holding the gatehouse themselves and suffering quite low casualties across the battle, while the rest of the army poured in - but in the castle grounds, for every stable, smithy, armory, tower, keep hall and chapel, the knights of the Peregrinan order resisted to the bitter end. Their garrison force, squires and commoners included, numbered under a thousand all in all, but left more than twice their number from across the castle grounds and walls dead or wounded. Brutislav's force marched south, across his lands and then past the border, where they were harried by men of the forest, slowed down and supplies burned, until they reached the castle two days after its siege was over, the loot and glory already distributed, with the Aynur also beginning raids into the countryside of Predgorie.

In the south, the fleet takes a beating during their assault on Jaroslavizh harbor, though they manage to eliminate the meager Olkan navy. The Olka river proves hard to navigate at this time and the best we manage is to establish makeshift bridges with our ships - Wotrek's riders cross and begin raiding on the other side, but are caught in ambush and lose over half their number one evening, while Jaroslavizh still stands.

It is late summer now, news claims that King Hrork met Duke Stanislav Lenski of Poledzhie in several skirmishes across the forested frontier, yet no decisive battle has been fought yet.

The commanders on the fronts can now give orders and roll for their execution. If a lesser commander of some faction's force wishes to volunteer for some mission, they may be assigned to such and allowed to roll for its success. The road into the Olkan plateau is open, the Duke of Predgorie and his men would be somewhere out there now, while in the south a siege of Jaroslavizh could begin.

Jaroslavizh is put under siege, surrounded and cut off supplies from all sides, but its walls look sturdy and it might be well enough supplied to last the winter. In Predgorie, the local forces were spread out and the Duke is nowhere to be found, yet also said to be everywhere with his bands of foresters and riders in the night. Several raids on churches and monasteries in the area saw the raiders killed, left with burns for life or repelled and the Grand Knyaz's own camp was raided, supplies stolen or burned. The only one to suffer relatively little in fighting there is Knyaz Brutislav, who has taken up residence in one of the market towns.
In the north, a decisive battle did occur and Hrork smashed Duke Stanislav's army, forcing them to retreat towards Strazka, yet the Jasiulins who dashed forward found themselves biting on more than they could chew and had to retreat.
It is autumn now, snows will start falling before long. Resistance among the peasantry in Predgorie seems to have risen as the people believe God is on their side, punishing all who attempt to tread with ill intent upon holy ground. The southern army is in good supply at the moment, thanks to Wotrek and Luksa's riders. Another round of war activities.

Burn down the Olkan wine fields, as the commander permitted. Dvoreshkan spirits are the best spirits, our wines the best wines.

Shortly after the snows melt, we receive an odd message. Hrork appears to have struck peace - Ursir takes Jaroslavizh and border regions elsewhere, along with a bounty in wealth and slaves, yet will not pursue war against Olka any further at this point and for the coming decade.
The King is expected to announce rewards in land soon. As far as loot is concerned, the Aynur managed to procure enough for themselves to warrant a +5 on their next project.
