Cover-art kindly provided by our noble artiste, Draw-anon, who kindly took time off repainting the Sistine Chapel for us. Look upon our prettyboy protagonist. Look upon his devilish smile and despair.

In last thread’s episode of The Crocodile Hunter, our hero HARRY ‘TROUBLE MAGNET’ FLASHMAN just straight-up murdered canon by puking on a Shichibukai and then nat100ing himself into capturing Firefist Ace by accident. He also discovered that Garp has two pirate grandsons, and his belief in the justice of the Marines cracked further. Only faith in papaSmo can save him now... or can it? (Also, everyone loves Mr Speedy, and Roronoa Zoro got prison-beer.)

We, uh, now return you to your scheduled idiocy.
>>
>papaSmo exposition express

You start dragging over some paperwork to fill out. Joy. ... Oh, wait, you enjoy this. Never mind. “Well, for a start, how’d the big showdown in the desert go, bossman?”

“Hm. Not that I saw it myself, but apparently decent enough.” Smoboss leans back and tilts his head up, apparently enjoying one of his minions dealing with the bureaucratic crap. “Firefist got there pretty late, but he went completely nuts on Crocodile. Turned him to glass. Then melted him.”

...

URK.

“O-oh... and, uh... how’s Alabasta? In general?”

“Recovering. Baroque Works has been made public, trust in the king’s been restored, and it even rained while you were asleep. Captured a whole damn ship of that Dance Powder shit.” He stubs out a cigar without even looking, and sighs. “Absolute bullshit...”

“Yeah, about ‘absolute bullshit’, what did Garp DO?” You finish filling out a form, and move on to the next. “I mean - did I mention I caught Firefist Ace? Because I totally did. And then next thing I know...”

Smoboss glances at you, smirking faintly, as you pointedly trail off. “You didn’t hear before you went for a nap?”

You glare.

“Brat, Crocodile had his Shichibukai status rescinded after he attacked us. I’ve no idea how Garp managed it, but Firefist weaselled his way into accepting the position in exchange for his freedom. Whitebeard’s gonna be PISSED.”

...

“Uh,” you say, eloquently. “So. Am I gonna die?”

Smoboss’ eyes narrow. “Like fuck you will, brat. I’ve already made it clear to Garp that if Firefist tries anything at all, I’m making this whole damn mess public. Not as if I like it, anyway.”

“Public? Isn’t it... already public?”

He snorts, sitting forwards again. “Baroque Works, sure, but officially speaking - you didn’t capture Firefist.”

“What.”

“He turned himself in and asked for the position himself.”

“What.”

Smoboss folds his arms, looking as happy as you feel. “Unofficially, Garp’s already confirmed you’ll be properly rewarded for the capture. Officially, you captured Roronoa, and that’s all.”

You grit your teeth. “Seriously?”

“Trust me, I’ve already had words with goddamn Garp. A lot of ‘em.”

You suspect they were very loud words.

“But,” he continues, reluctantly, “it might be a good thing. Aside from protecting Firefist’s reputation for their bullshit Shichibukai PR, do you really want the Whitebeards targeting you?”

.... Okay, maybe not. “And... Strawhat?”

“Escaped. Likely lying low somewhere with his crew. Officially.” He releases a mouthful of slowly coiling smoke. “Unofficially, we know damn well he’s recovering in the Palace, along with the rest of them. Roronoa’s safely in custody, at least.”

Killed - Zoro would have gone for your weapons and tried to kill you. Luffy would have beaten Croc, but would have been far more injured, and also swear vengeance on you. Assuming Zoro didn't kill you.

This. I'd really rather not get a devil fruit.
As for the sand-sand... I kinda like the idea of Vivi eating it. I know we'd never see much about it, but it just feels right.

>>3439896
Uh, no? I said I'd answer it later? Did I link the wrong one?

>>3439900
Fireface would only have succeeded due to me giving you an autopass on drop-kicking for dramatic-entry-lulz, the Strawhats would have panicked more. Not hugely so, because they still didn't comprehend how strong Ace was, but still. Ace would also have not have been knocked out, would have come out, and fought you (and probably kicked your ass) while the others escapes. Fop would have remained kidnapped.

Vivi OH GOD SO MUCH DISCIPLINARY ACTION YES but you'd have been so panicked over checking on Vivi, the Strawhats would probably have bashed you unconscious from behind before grabbing her. And maybe you as well. And still with Fop.

Luffy - dice roll to see what happened, because D luck makes everything stupid.

>*Blackbeard laughter in the background*
>>
>>3439934
You know I'm fairly certain Blackbeard has like 6 years left to live tops.
He looks very unhealthy.
>>
>>3439732
Right, so.

I wanted massive help-I'm-cuffed-to-pirates shenanigans, so if you'd failed the quickdraw, it would depend whether Zoro got one of your weapons or if you managed to keep him at bay.

You may possibly have lost one of your weapons over the docks in the scuffle which, presuming you had a freakout over it, could have led you to convincing them to jump as well to retrieve both weapon and keys. Underwater teamwork with a useless Logia who has to trust you both to work together and pull him up witbout anyone trying to kill one another!

Aside from that, there was the possibility of Zoro threatening to tell your 'secret' versus promising to keep it quiet even from his crew (and Ace) if you went along quietly. You could also have managed to yell for help from the remaining crews, which would have caused a fun chase scene.

It's possible that you may have been convinced to come with them willingly, possibly with promises regarding protecting Vivi or the like. If necessary, Ace would have bluffed about cutting your arm off, but neither would actually do it. They would have dragged you along to find some swords and a way out of the cuffs, or just straight up chased after the nearest BW agent, whether you were willing or not.

>>3439933
Yeah, talking to him made you a little more open to The Weird Shit Of The World.
I don't understand the 2nd question. You'll just need a bit less time/effort for getting +1s to Awakenings.

Tallying and writing for update.
>>
>>3439952
>there was the possibility of Zoro threatening to tell your 'secret' versus promising to keep it quiet even from his crew (and Ace) if you went along quietly

Honestly, that kind of pisses me off and I cant really put my finger on why. We got so much out of it, and yet it still feels like we got the short end of the stick in this deal.
Also, it means we are an exceptionally good teacher and should get bonus to teaching combat.
>>

>the exposition continues

"Well. Fuck."

"Pretty much sums it up," Smoboss agrees, kicking his boots up onto the desk. You manage to pull the paperwork out of the way.

"So we're waiting for them to stage a jailbreak of Lolonoa? Did we at least capture or kill all the Baroque Works Agents?"

Apart from a mildly annoyed look, Smoboss ignores Roronoa's new name. "Roronoa's on Garp's ship, Strawhat's badly injured, and the rest of his crew are no doubt injured as well. If they're dumb enough to try and rescue him like that... well, Hina the Black Cage'll be taking him away soon. They won't recover in time, and we'll pick them up once they leave the Palace anyway.
"As for Baroque Works... there's a few missing. Nico Robin, called 'Miss All Sunday' - unsurprising, she's good at cutting her losses and staying under the radar. Mr 2 and 9, and Miss Monday and Thursday. Pretty much everyone else is accounted for, either arrested or dead." He scowls. "The Strawhats took down most of them."

"There, there," you say, brushing a sandy scuff of bootprint off the paper. Dammit, Smoboss, have some respect for the poor files. "And... the Princess? Is she still captive?"

Bossman groans, reaching up to rub his forehead. "Don't talk about the Princess, brat. Fucking political bullshit."

"Uh...?"

"She's officially still 'missing' and a prisoner, even though the King clearly isn't worried. If she's not with them willingly, I'll eat my damn jitte."

Yikes. "... I kind of see why the Strawhats piss you off so much, bossman." Was she EVER a prisoner? Those confusing assholes... Hold on. "... Wait. Did Curly know about the Strawhats the whole time?"

Smoboss just sighs.

... You're pretty sure that's a yes. "Seriously?!"

"... I haven't confirmed it. He's back in the Palace, and the Marines have been very politely refused access. Garp's playing along, politics again... but he'll be taking Firefist to Marineford soon to get everything official. Might be able to... no." Another sigh. "I hate to say it, but Igaram's small potatoes compared to the Strawhats... and I can see why an idiot, impressionable teenage princess might fall for some adventurous, heroic bullshit."

"So, what? She and Curly are gonna get away with... everything?"

Smoboss scowls at you, cigar-smoke darkening. "The sole heir to the throne? And her favored retainer? Who don't have a single known crime to their name? Who are being called heroes of the country?
What do you expect - we kick down the Palace doors and arrest them for... what, exactly?"

Depends if you managed to provide evidence or not.

>>3440152
>>3440165
OHHHHH, I see. Unfortunately, this isn't legal-technicality-bullshit, it's a) there's no actual evidence that Vivi/Curly committed any crimes, and b) they've literally JUST headed off one rebellion and everyone loves the King and Princess right now. Arresting Vivi would possibly start a new uprising or general unrest against the WG, and it isn't worth the hassle.
It's not legalities, it's politics.
>>
>>3439969
To be honest, unless the fruit has

A) some type of sentimental value/connects to Flashman in some way(Smoker, Bioparent, Sengoku, etc)

B) Just so insanely OP that not taking them would be absolutely insane (yami yami, whitebeard's)

Than I'd rather not, plus honestly having a power that puts our weapons at risk every time we use it sounds really fucking stupid.
>>
>>3440144
+1 this
>>3440176
shame
>>
>>3440187
Well, sweets are acidic. So it connects to one side in a way.
Also if the PH can be adjusted it's a perfect stealth fruit too as we can just turn into a puddle and sneak through gaps with nobody the wiser, and that also doesn't put our own weapons at risk if we only go actual acid mode when we want to.
>>
>>3440144
>>3440112
This.
I'd avoid putting too many write in choices QM, it really slows thing down if anons are too lazy to write in.
>>
>>3440198
That is a real stretch, and even then it's not like Flashman knows who his mom is yet.
>>
>>3440198
We have plenty on our head without a fruit.
>>
>>3440207
It's a stretch but it fits in a way.
Also actually finding out dad's fruit will be kind of a chore in character, and it's almost certainly been eaten again already.
Acid Logia is cool.
>purposely allow non haki swordsman to cut you
>their sword melts in half
>>
>>3440220
>they smear their sword with soap
>sword remains as deadly as ever
Its just that easy.
>>
>>3440234
I thought of that but it pretty much locks you out of using stronger acidics to keep it ftom harming the weapon. Plus wouldn't proper soap be a base?
>>
>>3440234
Not really, Soap isn't a very strong base and wouldn't offer much protection against stupid tier "melt anything" acid
Bleach might be ok for one or two slashes.
Also, huge assumption you're making that anyone other than the very rare science type characters will know the concept of PH.
>>
>>3440234
Oh please, given enough time and experience a user of the Acid-Acid Fruit would absolutely be able to make acid strong enough to fuck up common soap. I mean, Magellan can use/make poison that spreads on it's own like a virus and poisons stone!
>>
>>3440241
Yeah I'm sorry, I'm just one anon so maybe I'll be outvoted anyway but personally I'm not supporting the acid fruit. It's just not compatible with a fighting style that involves multiple weapons that Flashman clearly cares about. The fruit and our fighting style just gimp each other too much. If I had wanted a DF I would have supported taking Kid's back when we had it, at least that would have been way more compatible with our multiple metal weapons.
>>
>>3440250
On that note it would be amazing if hat and sunglasses ebed up finding and eating the acid abd sand fruits. A real big power up for the both of them.
>>
>>3440199
I work on the general assumption that if players can't spare two minutes to make a basic write-in or +1 someone else's write-in, I'll probably find it more worthwhile to be doing other stuff anyway.

>so much exposition

"... At least Alabasta's safe? And we still have Lolonoa!"

Smoboss relaxes a little, expression softening. You hadn't realized how tensed up he was until it falls slightly away. "Optimistic." You're pretty sure he's trying to make it sound like a complaint, but it doesn't come across as one; he slumps back in the chair, tiredness visible. "Just gotta wait for those damn Strawhats to leave the Palace. The Royals can't protect them once they're out in public."

You reluctantly nod. Arresting a popular Princess on no evidence... If the Government don't even want to admit their shiny new Shichibukai didn't volunteer himself, why the hell would they kick up potential unrest like this?

"Is that everything important, then?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah - we're still waiting for official bullshit about commendations to come through, but Garp's okayed something else already - one of your idiot lackeys found a Devil Fruit as part of Baroque Works' loot in Rain Dinners." Smoboss shifts slightly, cigar-smoke lightening once more. "We can't identify it, but the officers and your lackey get first crack at it. We'll hold the meeting tonight, now you're awake."

Bwuh. "Don't those go to HQ?"

"The amount of political bullshit that's going on, I'm pretty sure Garp's trying to keep me sweet." Smoboss looks more like he's 100% sour. "Normally I'd tell him where he could shove the damn thing, but if we're going to keep running into this kind of crap, maybe one of you idiots SHOULD have it."

Huh.

Wow.

"Yeah, I know, but... ugh. It's kind of a big deal, right? Especially with an unknown one. If I ever ate one, I'd wanna know what I was getting into."

"Hm. Good answer." Smoboss stubs out a dwindling cigar, looking a little more relaxed. "Part of the meeting will be to impress on everyone how dangerous eating a Devil Fruit can be. It's not something to be taken lightly. It was found before Crocodile died, so it's not the Sand Fruit, but that's all we know."

You nod. "Should I come to the meeting anyway?"

"Might as well, get an idea who might be eating it. Hell, we might decide it there. Aside from that..."

Basically, if Tashi doesn't want it and Fop doesn't want it, and even for some reason Hat doesn't want it but Sunglasses does(among many other mooks), Hat can choose to give it to Sunglasses.

>mfw i try to do cute but fail. it's not my fault, i'm a spider...

.......

oh god

You manage not to spontaneously combust on the spot.

oh god. oh god.

Stay cool, Flashy.

"Just doing my duty, Bossman!"

Everything seems to be shaking slightly. And fast. Really fast.

Both the background and foreground noise of your mind are a high-pitched EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE as you stare at him, wide-eyed.

You should probably stop staring. But everything's too wonderful and sweet and bubbly and warm to focus on some silly little thing like that.

Besides, Smoboss has already looked away, focusing on his paperwork for once. Really focusing. A lot.

He coughs. "Right. Good. Just... don't go challenging any more veteran pirates like that. Brat."

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~

You nod. Maybe a little frantically.

Smoboss shuffles some papers, eyes locked unmovingly on the top sheet.

Is this weird?

This is weird, isn't it.

It's weird.

SMOBOSS IS GOING TO THINK YOU'RE WEIRD OH GOD LIFE IS AWFUL

"I HAVE TO GO," you announce, papers clutched in your hands as throw yourself at the door.

"Wai-?"

You slam the door behind you. There is paperwork to be done. In your cabin. Where everything is normal. Like you. Because you are normal.

You'll do the paperwork once you've finished curling up in a ball and reminding yourself that you're an idiot.

Avoiding the infantry, you scurry back to your cabin and forcefully suffocate yourself in the sweet, emotioneless void of dry bureacracy.

>>3440546
I personally don't think it's a bad fruit. An important fact to remember about the One Piece universe is that there aren't any useless Devil Fruits, just people who aren't creative enough to unlock their fruits' true potential.

Having a silent Devil Fruit isn't good for direct combat, but it's amazing for stealth and infiltration. There might also be some combat uses we haven't considered yet - imagine us ripping through combat encounters, ignored by the other major fighters because they aren't even aware of us.
>>
>>3440546
Yeah, honestly the fruit seems like a real wimpy one.
I think the real reason for that is that Oda didn't want to kill off a character with a "cool" ability in a flashback.
You can basically fucking replicate all of it's effects with a gag and learning how to move quietly, the only bonus is that it makes guns quiet. But swords are quiet anyway.

MAYBE ODA SHOULD HAVE MADE A FRUIT THAT WASN'T SO LIMITED THEN.
Honestly all you really need to do to fix it is to change it from an AoE radius to being able to touch something to prevent it from making sound until you release the effect (or die/get knocked out)
That makes it an actually good fruit.

Stealth kills with pistol-chan, let's Flashman get the drop on someone in the height of combat, amazing for sneaking which Flashman is showing a knack for and most importantly will prevent him from audibly clanking when he walks once he finally lives up to the name of the walking armory.
>>
Honestly the problem with Pop's fruit is that it only does the one specific thing, thereby being overspecialized. If it did sound waves isntead of just "lmao silence" it'd be a much better power.
>>
>>3440613
Your allowed to think what you want, my stand on it is that it really just isn't good. It's really only beneficial for stealth jobs and a few things out of that. As for being able to walk in the middle of battle, that is probably the last thing possible, as the fruit just makes us soundness not invisible and unless the battle is between two heavy hitters in one piece, and even then there's a chance that they'll still notice, the enemy will probably go for the kill.

There's also the fact that it's ability coild probably be almost replicated with practice and holds less utility then most others. [Ex: Acid Fruit: if the enemy is so focused they cant notice anything then we could get away with pouring acid on the floor during a battle and melting them when they misstep.

Metal Fruit: Literally One piece Gilgamesh
Could probably fly too
Sand: just about everything from gaara did to what croc did. Plus flight]

Get my point? The fruit has sentimental value, but not much else
>>
>>3440664
Yeah. The silence is just way too meddling.
Maybe if the fruit also provided a sort of passive stealth effect that made you overlook something within it's influence if you weren't specifically looking for it too.
As it is though
It's about as useful as a pair of sneaky shoes.
>>
>>3440664
You are just not thinking outside the box.
>'silence' all life around you
>become a walking dethzone
>>
>>3440661
I do like the idea of getting the fruit, I just would rather something that gives us an extra boost. I like the Acid Logia too but that one lacks synergy.
>>
>>3440648
Our primary skillset is weapons yeah, but the fruit combined with his observation haki will make him an great stealth operative too. Good combat marines are a dime a dozen, but I bet there's fewer well suited for stealth / inflitration missions. (CP9 Government dogs don't count)

Honeslty it's the best compromise between Flashy getting powers and Flashy staying true to his weapon master roots, which some anons do want. If we do get a combat fruit there's always going to be the pressure to specialise with the fruit at the expense of our weapons.
>>
>>3440681
Lets list some synergy fruits for Flashy shall we?
Logia...
Possibly metal?
Metal Filings could be neat, basically just a straight upgrade to Croc with no dehydration but the ability to cut the fuck out of people and become as strong as solid steel.
Alternatively look for a Plasma Plasma fruit to one up Ace.

Whoever the poor sod turns out to be, I want to see the look on his face as he eats that disgusting fruit.
>>
I'm not too keen on a DF personally but I can't deny that a good user can find more than one way to use his DF powers.
For example, there is a chance we could use Biodad's powers to do all the shit anons thought up. Plus maybe even mixing it with haki or other techniques for special abilities.

Condescending the area of effect or focusing it on a single point, make it so Flashman can move and fight completely soundless without even thinking about it, "calming" a person down, etc. Remember this IS One Piece, crazier shit has been done.
>>
>>3440692
You aren't wrong by any means, it would make things pretty good, but their' s just one problem. We aren't a stealth marine[I'm going to call it submarine from now on cause I just put together how much it fit]

We're supposed to take pictures and all that yeah, but in reality, we've only taken what four notable pictures since the quest began?

We're also literally trying IC to become a combat marine, really lowering the need for stealth. Then there's the fact that we rarely stealth on pirates. We eavesdrop on our allies, in fact aside from muscle lady all stealth thus far has pretty much ended poorly, with neither target being found, our us being discovered[except when using detective pistol chan, which really doesn't count.] We usually just run into our opponents face first.

While another combat fruit may cause overuse, it won't happen unless players vote for it[this is weak argument, but still arguable] Hell I'd say most fruits are better than Flash than the sound one. Metal was, candy probably will be, heck acid could've worked as long as we didn't vote to spray it everywhere. If you want a utility fruit, there are sdo many better choices
>>
>>3440700
How about a Steam Fruit?
Has the bonus of being unable to be messed with by Ace's fire because Steam just gets hotter and faster when heated.
It's similar to Smoker's but not as obvious as a massive fucking angry plume of smoke heading your direction so could be used for stealth and flight.
Also has the bonus of burning people, because Steam is hot.
>>
>>3440700
Wouldn't that be Enel's fruit?
Fucker made of lightning and shit
>>
>>3440723
I guess it is, kind of?
Not all plasma is lightning afterall.
Let's go kill that loser Enel.
I want the best devil fruit.
>>
>>3440720
Yeah biodad was still pretty young when he died, and we don't know when exactly he got the fruit. Plus he spent a good chunk of his life with the fruit on a mission which doesn't give much opportunity to play around with his abilities easily. I can see the fruit having additional applications which he didn't get a chance to fully utilise.

If Flashy gets it he'll also be super motivated to use the fruit to its fullest potential, giving an ic reason as to why he can unlock these abilities when biodad didn't.
>>
>>3440735
Alternatively the fruit just sucks.
>>
>>3440723
Nah.
>eat Plasma-Plasma fruit
>pelt your enemies with TVs
>>
>>3440722
Oh shit, I actually like this. Remember this one Anons!

Also, while there ARE good arguments for the silence fruit in that it is a godsend for a stealth operative, there are at least two problems that I don't ahve been mentioned:
One: if we go to the New World everyone AND their mother is going to have Observation, quite possibly rendering the ability to be completely silent moot.
Two: Smoker is far, FAR from being comfortable about letting Flashy acting as a scout, rendering having silence powers useless for a good lenght of time if we continue to stay under Smoker's direct command.
>>
>>3440737
a devil fruit's power is not dictated by the fruits limitations but the creativity of the user. i mean look at chopper. he has a Human Zoan fruit and looking at examples of other zoans they have the following

1 Base form (Human in most cases)
1 Hybrid Form
1 Full Form

And then look at chopper.
>>
>>3440753
Yeah but Chopper is a bullshit Doctor.
And that's a Zoan.
There are just some dead end fruits in the end.

Bullshit Bullshit Fruit.

>meeting

Determined to make this a totally normal meeting (about who can eat a friggin' magical fruit, but still), you oh-so-casually saunter into the meeting room.

There's Smoboss (DON'T LOOK AT HIM), Tashigi, Fop, Klaus (just to watch, most likely - and wearing a load of bandages, why didn't anyone tell you he was hurt?), Hat, and for some reason, Sunglasses.

... Is Smoboss maybe counting Hat and Sunglasses as the same entity? ARE they the same? Or is one a ghost that only you and the other one can see?

Hmmmm....

You settle yourself down in a chair and try to look professional.

"All right," Smoboss announces, looking mildly annoyed by... probably existence itself. "Here goes. We have a Devil Fruit, type unknown, and permission for someone aboard to eat it. Our comms officer, Morten, doesn't want it, and apparently doesn't give a shit who eats it, so he's not coming. I can't eat it, obviously.
"Klaus is here because he's a nosy five year old. Taahigi and Flashmam, obvious. Borgia will be an officer soon, so we're including him. Johnny and Yosaku are here on the basic of finding it and... being weirdly close to the one who found it. So. Anyone here not want it?"

You slowly raise a hand, glancing around. Tashigi's raising hers too. Huh. Fop... seems unsure. Hat and Sunglasses share a look, and keep both their hands down.

"I'll take it~" Klaus croons, smirking despite the thick gauze taped across his cheek.

"You're not an option, and you'd just sell it for drinking money," Smoboss snaps, both valid points. "Anyone else...? Right."

That done, the meeting slides seamlessly into a brutal lecture on why eating a Devil Fruit doesn't simply mean a priceless power-up, Why Seastone Sucks, and how important the ability to swim is when your job involves long periods at sea.

By the end, Fop has decided that taking a chance on an unknown Devil Fruit isn't really for him.

Sunglasses and Hat look at each other.

"Yeah, we still want it," Sunglasses says cheerfully.

Hat nods. "Sounds like fun!"

Smoboss closes his eyes and very slowly reaches up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "... Right. And the Devil Fruit's going to a Private. Fine by me, though the Brass'll bitch. How are you two gonna decide who eats it?"

They each hold up a die.

Smoboss gently places his forehead in his palm.

(Rolling for Hat and then Sunglasses! Higher number wins. If it's a draw, re-roll.)
>>

Luffy's gears are possible because his fruit has always affected his body and the Gum Gum fruit is really kind of Logia-like for a Paramecia considering his body isn't just stretchy like rubber, it's actually fucking rubber (see: Enel).

HAT WINS THE ACID FRUIT

Update tomorrow, I desperately need sleep. Thanks for playing, g'night, and rolling to find the Human Human Fruit: model Pirate!
>>
>>3440774
Yeah, via Rumble Ball, which I presume allowed him to temporarily awaken his fruit powers
>>
>>3440784
That's not against my argument, but thanks for at least trying anon
>>
>>3440781
>Hat Logia
I'm so proud right now
>>
>>3440784
even then without the knowlege of OP and what Luffy has done could you think up the gears like he did? if not you'd probably write the fruit off as being less useful. my point is don't just write any fruit off because its powers get much better with the right mind to go with them.

Sure not all fruits are amazing but there isn't such a thing as a bad fruit.
>>
>>3440790
I think Steam Fruit would be one of the coolest possible fruits desu.
Also it hard counters a certain new Shichibukai.
Any arguments against it?
>>
>>3440733
>loser Enel
Senpai, you're lucky he got taken out by the "single" weakness he had in the entire world. Not counting water and haki of course.
By WOG from Oda, he'd have a 500,000,000 Beli bounty if he was a pirate. For scale, that's exactly the same as Luffy's after Dressrosa and is higher than Jinbe's current bounty.
>>
>>3440797
That sounds too much like the Smoke Fruit, so it sucks.
>>
>>3440797
Hm, I imagine we would get hard countered by cold and ice.
Thats pretty much it.
>>
>>3440797
For the sake of argument? Don't really have one besides losing swimming. Steam has many uses that could be thought up easily, I.E using the heat and air for nonlethal KOs. Sound just isn't as good as many fruits and I feel despite certain points made, most anons want it only because biodad had it and not because it's actually that useful. Pretty sure I can name more uses for steam than silence
>>
>>3440804
But that's what make's it so fitting.
Also it's better than Smoker's fruit.
Which is by far the worst logia of every Logia.
>power to turn into bigger target for haki users
>also to fly which you can just learn to hop on air for.
>>
>>3440797
Doesn't meld well with our weapons. I know I'm screaming about the silent fruit but at the end of the day weapon family > any fruit.
>>
>>3440813

>>
>>3440833
This, hoping on air ain't as easy as you assume.

>>3440814

A steamscreen for pistol and being able to wear our opponent out by releasing steam during a CQC fight is a bit of synergy, but overall the best fruit for us was the metal fruit that we decided not to grab

37 KB JPG
>>3440833
Yeah, that's the idea.
>>3440814
I don't know, it melds about as well as it could.
Also you can just flood places with steam to flush people out, or use it to create a visual obstruction which you can sense people in.
Or you can use it for aesthetics and pretend that it's mist or something when the situation calls for a dramatic setting.
>>
>>3440797
Would Flashman risk losing control if he gets '''too"' hot - like overloaded with way too much energy to handle causing him to go into meltdown?

How would he handle the concept of dry steam (steam with very little moisture content) which could happen if he gets overheated - would losing water particles hurt him?

Wind and electric might be counters to us - wind can it cool the steam and causes steam to dissipates. Electric because the the water particles will conduct it.
>>
>>3440850
>Or you can use it for aesthetics
Chocolate cigars that billow out steam when?
>>
>>3440847
>>3440850
Im worried the high temps might lead to us damaging our weapons. Unless we load them with armament haki before hand but that's just wasting energy we could be using to fight
>>
>>3440799
to be fair, bounties aren't really powerlevels
>>
>>3440851
I mean, electric isn't an issue unless Enel decides to visit.
and Wind is basically just a counter to everything because Dragon is overpowered.
Also Skypeia is somewhere that we have no real reason to go to anyway.
Can Logia control elements that they themselves didn't produce?
>Luffy goes gear 2nd
>choke him with his own steam
>>
>>3440851
The gets to hot for himself as an argument is hardly fair and dry particles aren't fair either as devil fruits don't let the user get hurt by their elements. That's why Ace doesn't have burn marks after using fire, and why croc isn't always dryed out.

The wind is valid, but beatable by adding a bit more oomph but lightning's a wild card likely as, if thunder happens during fog, everyone doesn't get shocked due to the water particle, but idk honestly how it'd go
>>
>>3440867
Okay, but what about energy overload from absorbing too much heat energy? Or losing water particles which make up the steam due to extreme heat?

With the energy thing I'm thinking of that one shaman king fight where this one chick is goaded into absorbing way too much power than she can handle and just collapses from the strain.
>>
>>3440851
>How would he handle the concept of dry steam (steam with very little moisture content) which could happen if he gets overheated - would losing water particles hurt him?
Oh, heres a neat limiter idea.
The steam he can make at hand is limited to the amount of water in his body, If he gets too hot and bothered, he needs to consciously keep steam in the air from getting away from him. Loosing steam in such way would mean loosing water from his body and getting dehydrated.
>>
>>3440865
To be honest, it kind of is when your bounty is comparable to Monkey D. Luffy after all the shit he's pulled and all the revelations they've made about him.
>>
>>3440863
Well 100+ Degrees Celsius isn't really that hot in the grand scheme of things the only weapon that could possibly have an issue is Detective Pistol.
Also when Logia turn into their element so do their clothes and things they are carrying so it's really not an issue, honestly.
Crocodile never had to worry about his hook or clothes.
Hell his clothes reform along with him iirc.
>>3440880
Energy overload is a possibility but you could probably get rid of a lot of that just by using the extra energy to move about super fast.
Your opponent would have to be awfully confident to bet on making their enemy far stronger on the off chance it might overload them.
>>
>>3440876
>>3440876
....you guys are claiming this fruit is a hard counter to ace but don't want to go into what happens when things get '''too''' hot? Okay then.

>devil fruit don't let the user get hurt by their elements
But their elements can be turned against them by other means - like Croc being turned to glass. Steam Logia Flashman is literally comprised of water particles, so Id think them evaporating away would be a big deal.
>>
>>3440892
>Also when Logia turn into their element so do their clothes and things they are carrying so it's really not an issue, honestly.
How does it work with Smoker and his seastone tipped Jitte tho? I thought he has to hold it in hand while flying around?
>>
>>3440898
That's not how steam works.
Steam doesn't evaporate.
That's what makes it steam.
It makes about as much sense as saying ice can freeze. Or that magma can melt.
>>3440902
>seastone tipped Jitte
>seastone
friend I think you answered your own question
>>
>>3440892
Would the energy overload affect Flashman's mental state?

It is his body thats being pumped full of too much power to handle.

If he goes berserk due to the mental (and physical) strain of keeping things together then I can see someone being able to outwit him.

Or maybe his brain can't keep up with the energy and sensations his steam body is getting and short circuits. Like that electric kid for hero academia who I can't remember the name of.
>>
>>3440781
>Yosaku
>YOSAKU

HA

HAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA

By god they've done It, the red-shirts have acquired a logia. Damn, I hope the next fruit we find Is a good one too for Johnny. No fisherman life for you two, time to make names for yourselves!
>>
>>3440898
Fine, let me tell you a secret: water moves faster when heated. That's it. Looser faster steam at most. And you'd have to put it into a high heat, I assumed you meant like if a look could light fire on his weapon, or a really hot day desu so that's why I dismissed you. Being overloaded can be a problem, but only if we decide to just try and store the energy rather than release it immediately by beating the heck out of the idiot who thought they could burn steam. Also I didn't say anything regarding ace.

To summarize, water doesn't die because it gets hot, and water particles aren't killed off by heat
>>
>>3440908
I don't know, honestly if we got a fruit I would want Dad's for da feels, or a hammer space paramecia type fruit for our weapons.
>>
>>3440908
Well, that seems like not only a huge pain in the ass but also a pretty big risk, always having to have at least a single hand materialized just to carry your weapon.
>>
>>3440916
Who knows?
It would effectively just be the Logia version of Gear Second.
Could probably achieve the literal same effect by vibrating the steam manually too. Too much energy though? Who knows?
Could easily get rid of it by floating into the sky and dispersing outwards to cool off though.

Im talking Smoker here now tho, and his signature weapon is.
I kind of feel sorry for him that he has to physically carry it at all times, risking possible attacks on his unsmoked, jitte-wielding hand, instead of being able to puff it away like the rest of his things.
Is this a part of why he seems to be pissed so much? Minor but unavoidable inconveniences in his life piling up until they simply cannot be ignored and yet still cant be solved?

Soap would be a Special Paramecia, like Katakuri’s Mochi fruit. Yes. Despite letting you turn into, create, and control an element, it’s not a Logia. Because it’s not a ‘natural’ element, but a fully ‘man made’ one. Yes, I’m as mad about it as you are, but I don’t make the rules. Oda does. And then be changes them when it suits him.
>>
>>3440994
On the other hand, it just came to me.
How about instead of looking for a fruit thematically opposite to Hats, we go for the one that synergies with it? They are like two peas in a pod and all that, I bet having a DF synergy between them would be a great boon.

What fruit would go amazing together with acid logia?

Y'know, the more I think about it the more I like the idea of getting the Calm Calm Fruit. Been reading through that Gun x Glory Quest that's up, pretty damn good. I do love me some VR gaming/e-sports bullshit.

>79 hat is a goodboi

"YES," Hat cheers, as everyone peers at the thrown dice. "It's mine!"

"Go, aniki!" Well, at least Sunglasses seems happy too, judging from how they grab onto each other and... do a weird happy-dance.

Everyone politely ignores them in favor of the swirly yellow-green Fruit that Smoboss retrieves from a small lockbox by the table.

"You can eat it up on deck," he says, still not looking at where the two are high-kicking. "I'm not risking you losing control and blowing the room up."

"DE-VIL FRUIT! DE-VIL FRUIT!"

They shut up when Smoboss wraps their mouths with smoke and drags them along, followed by the rest of you.

As you all walk, you can't help but ask Tashigi, "You don't want a Devil Fruit?"

"Maybe if I knew it was a good one, but I'm a swordsman first and foremost," Tashigi says, tapping her now-two katanas. Roronoa's ones are probably in her cabin. "If I ever eat one, it'd have to be one that synergizes with that."

Hm. Good thought. This 'thinking ahead' thing is pretty useful, huh?

Night has fallen outside, but the group gathers around a lamp-lit area that's good and bright. And... not near anything too valuable. Just in case.

Hat, excitement in his eyes, takes the proffered Fruit from Smoboss, and holds it high.

"At this unbelievable time, I'd like to thank the many people without whom I wouldn't be here! Firstly, my mothe-"

"JUST FUCKING EAT IT, ALREADY!!"

"... Ah, fine." He chimps down, grimacing as the legendary bad taste hits, chews a few times, and swallows hard.

Everyone but Smoboss leans in curiously.

"... Ah, fine." He chimps down, grimacing as the legendary bad taste hits, chews a few times, and swallows hard.

Everyone but Smoboss leans in curiously.

"How do you feel, aniki?" Sunglasses' voice is a whisper. Actually, why is he still wearing sunglasses? It's night. Does he have eye-problems? Is it a medical condition? Shit, you'd better never mention them, it could be rude. What horrible luck, to be named after a health-aid that you'll end up having to rely on. So sad...

"AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH," says Hat.

Oh, yeah. Devil Fruit stuff. You look back away from Sunglasses to his currently panicking buddy.

Hats flails, his arms... noxiously roiling with sizzling fluid - no, they ARE fluid, dripping down, gnawing through the deck -

"DON'T DAMAGE MY SHIP!" Thanks, Smoboss, that helps.

"An Acid Logia!" Thanks Tashigi, that's mildly informative, but still not helpful.

"I'm melting, I'm meeeeeeelting," Hat blubbers, as the rest of his body starts dissolving into acidic yellow-green goop and sinking into a puddle. "Oh, what a world, what a woooorld..."

Smoboss huffs, arms folded as he taps his fingers impatiently. "Are you done fucking around?"

"... I guess."

"Nice one, aniki!" Sunglasses (aah, so tragic...) cheers and thrusts his hand out for a high-five, which Hat gleefully goes to return, before Smoboss slams the arm down with his jitte, face twitching furiously.

"Not with an acid hand, you idiot!"

"Ha! You nearly melted my hand just by accident, aniki! How cool!"

"That's right, I'm a badass now, aniki!"

"... This is Hell," you breezily tell the others. Tashigi and Fop nod wordlessly.

"I could have bought so many beers with that..." Klaus mutters.

You 'accidentally' kick him in the ankle.

(Metal Cutting increased to B.65! )

The next morning's lesson is kind of boring and a little crappy to be honest. You feel it's a little easier to cut through metal, but yesterday was so damn exhausting, you can't really put much effort into it.

Luckily, either Klaus is feeling worse from his wounds than he's letting on, or he thinks that you need some slack for today, because he doesn't kick your ass for the barely tolerable performance.

"The Black Cage'll be transferring Roronoa today, and Garp'll be heading off to Marineford tomorrow," he says once you've finished up. You can almost hear the relief at the thought of Garp leaving. "Rewards should be coming through via the den den sometime later, once HQ's finished going through everything... looking forward to it?"

>If I don't make Captain for catching Fireface, I'm gonna hunt Garp down and kick him in the dick.

"I'm just glad this mess is all over with," you say, sighing as you resheathe your sword. "Hey, will you still appreciate me when I'm an Admiral, Klaus? I'd say it's like, two months off, max."

Klaus stares blankly at you, then raises a hand. "Come over here so I can slap the pretty out of you."

"Hmm... no."

"Well, to answer you seriously... I don't appreciate you anyway. You're a giant drain on my drinking time. And my sleeping time. And my messing with people time. But despite all that, I figure you're getting at least a promotion to Lieutenant, and likely higher." His face pinches slightly. "Don't let it go to your head. You're just as killable as before, but cockiness will only increase it."

Blinks.

Stares some more.

"... Did you get a head wound? Or heatstroke?"

Geez, he actually sounds worried. You bat his hand away as he reaches out to try and feel your forehead. "I'm fine! I just - Uh. Stuff. Reasons. Words."

"....... I think I should call the doctor..."

"And then maybe I'll go for a walk after," you say, pointedly. "Because I fully intend to survive the meeting."

Okay, it's a walk to the Palace... but he doesn't need to know that. Klaus lets you go anyway, with an admonition to go to the medbay if you start hallucinating, or if you get hit in the head by a cannonball.

... Valid concern.

You head over to Garp's ship promptly. The ships have moved over to the opposite shore now, closer to Alubarna than Rainbase, but Garp's ship is still only a short distance from the White Mist.

You're very much downplaying her. It was 20 fucking months.
>She was living on Baterilla in South Blue when she was pregnant with Ace before Roger died. She held her pregnancy for twenty months through sheer willpower in order to deceive the world of Ace's connection to the Pirate King. When the child was finally born, Rouge held him in her arms and named him "Gol D. Ace". The result of holding Ace for so long however led to her death from exhaustion after giving birth.[5]

“Oh, the one with the sunglasses-wearing friend?”

“Yeah, that one’s called Sunglasses, sir. He has an eye-condition.”

“Wow, unlucky name,” Garp sympathizes, rubbing his chin. “So what Fruit was it?”

“The Acid Logia, sir.”

“HA! You kids really have some luck!”

“I hope so, sir... are the Whitebeards going to be... incredibly angry over this?”

Garp nods, beaming. “Yep, absolutely!”

..... shit

“We’ll keep your name out of the mess, of course, but the Whitebeards have their own spies and intelligence network, so they’ll find out eventually,” Garp says casually, while you try not to scream in terror. “Still, I doubt they’ll send more than one or two people to Paradise over it, and we’ll know if anyone heads over. Besides, you already captured one Commander, you must be raring to arrest two at once, bwahahahaha!”

I wouldn't say personalityless. Tituria is far more self-confident than Seibahturia, lacking the emotionless facade the original used as a crutch. Extended use of Rhongomyniad has rendered her closer to a divine spirit than the original; this incarnation can be considered something akin to a sun goddess, displaying light and warmth in peace and overwhelming fury in war.

Cowtits cashgrab clone, on the other hand, is more accurate. Also much less adorable.

Actually, now that I think about it, this Cannonball throwing, Pistols and Billiards would would go perfectly with the Moa Moa No Mi of Byrnndi World.
>More More Hyakubai Gan (モアモア百倍銃 Moa Moa Hyaku-bai Gan?, literally meaning "More More Hundredfold Gun"): World launches a projectile and enlarges an object to 100 times its original size while it's flying towards his opponent. He first uses this to increase the size of bullets he fired at some Marine battleships.[1] This is called More-More Hundredfold Gun in the FUNimation subs.
>More More Jubai Sandan (モアモア十倍散弾 Moa Moa Jū-bai Sandan?, literally meaning "More More Tenfold Shotgun"): World spits pellets from his mouth while enlarging them to 10 times their original size at his opponent. This was first used against Boa Marigold.[1] This is called More-More Tenfold Shotgun in the FUNimation subs.
>More More Gojubai Ho (モアモア五十倍砲 Moa Moa Gojū-bai Hō?, literally meaning "More More Fiftyfold Cannon"): World throws a handful of bullets while enlarging them to 50 times their original size (making them comparable to cannonballs) at his opponent. This was first used against Monkey D. Luffy.[1] This is called More-More Fiftyfold Cannon in the FUNimation subs.
>More More Hyakubai Ho (モアモア百倍砲 Moa Moa Hyaku-bai Hō?, literally meaning "More More Hundredfold Cannon"): World fires the giant cannon of his ship and increases the already gigantic cannonball to 100 times its original size. This is powerful enough to destroy an island. This was first used against a Marine fleet, but the cannonball was cut in half by Dracule Mihawk.[1] This is called More-More Hundredfold Cannon in the FUNimation subs.

I just realized we can just attach a cannonball to a chain or a really strong bungie type rope and just pull the cannonball back. We could even develop a style around it and use it like a meteor hammer.

Actually what if that was our big "fuck you" two handed weapon? A big, seastone chain connected cannonball we use like a meteor hammer? We could even give it an extra long rope for long range shots, even being able to use it in a naval battle to sink ships while we're on deck.

Getting a cannonball and having a little hook bit added on wouldn't be difficult, just gotta get a good rope or chain for it afterwards. As for a seastone cannonball though, we'd either have to save a mad amount of cash or find and stock up on enough pieces of seastone to commission one.

I honest to god have no idea he had one too. I'm not that far in One Piece, I'm glad the idea is sound though.

>74 for candy because i'm nice like that, 36 for regular random encounter

After a quick shower and change back at the White Mist, it's TOURIST TIME!

Which means candy.

I mean sure, there's... culture. Architecture. Stuff. But candy! Local candy! The type you'll never get to try outside the country!

It's pretty easy to find a few kids, wrangle them into directions for the nearest sweet-shop, and find sugary goodness.

Mmm.

That done (and some for Mina as well), you head out for wander. Alubarna is bustling, the citizens delighted to make the most of their new peace, even if you see signs of the recent fighting here and there.

Still, damages are being repaired, shops are open, and people seem optimistic about the future. If Firefist - and Strawhat, you guess - hadn't taken Crocodile on, what would have happened? With all those hours before Garp could have got here, what would have happened to the city?

You don't think most people here quite realize that Crocodile's sand powers could have swept half the damn city away, if he'd decided to.

(No encounters, just a peaceful time in Alubarna. +5 to next winning roll.)

Not really seeing why people want to talk to Curly. What is there to talk about?
>>
>>3442933
Nothing, we just want to confront the PIRATE SCUM known as the Strawhats
>>
>>3442933
Mainly to talk to him in person and see how the country's getting on (also find out where the sand-sand fruit got to)
>>
Rolled 44 (1d100)

Nah, bonus is because you rolled crap and didn't get an encounter. Candy remains bonus-free.

Ice cream nets you a +1000 bonus, though.

Rolling for ice cream~

Eh, I wouldn't mind just saying good-bye. He did lie through his teeth about Strawhats, and we may mention we are disappointed in him about that, but everything turned out ok in the end.

Honestly I really hope Nami got it just so she isn't nearly useless in a fight.

The Palace.

You're not entirely sure why you even came here, really. They're not letting Marines in, though maybe they'll make an exception if it's for something other than wanting to search the place for pirates.

It's worth a shot.

The guards cast you wary looks as you approach, but seem surprised when you just request a meeting with Curly (or Igaram, as he seems to be going by).

Maybe it's common knowledge he was traveling with Marines, or maybe they just don't care as long as you aren't wandering around the Palace, but before long, word comes down.

You're to be escorted to meet him.

>On the one hand, he likely lied to you about the Straw Hats and the Princess, but on the other he was apparently legitimately trying to save his country/home

He did get pretty enthusiastic during his improptu Alabastan TED talk.
