/qst/ - Quests

Well you had made it. After studying your ass off, you had been accepted into a good high school in Tokyo. Of course your family was sad to see you go, but they knew this was the best for your future. Your family is paying for the apartment you're staying at and is sending you a monthly allowance to your card that you can supplement by working part time.

Though you're happy you made it into this school, you honestly couldn't care less that this was a good school. You just wanted to get away from your hometown after... that happened. You're ready to start fresh in the big city. You even woke up early today. It's the first day of the new term and you want to make sure that everything goes right.

While other students have to worry about looks and fitting into social groups, you have an entirely different concern. Ever since you were little, you had always naturally gravitated to the background. Any friends you made eventually made new (ridiculously attractive) female friends and drifted away from you. You decided to look into your parents' yearbook and discovered that your plain parents had been surrounded by similarly extraordinary people but had obviously drifted away from them to the point that if you hadn't found out they were high school friends from the yearbook, you wouldn't have known they existed. Looking further back in your family tree, you discovered the same thing.

Before middle school had even started, you had figured out that you were destined to be a side character in the story of life and your theory had proven itself correct over the course of the first year of middle school. And then you got carried away and... that happened.

But this time you were starting fresh. You were going to do it right. You would be the ULTIMATE side character and guide the stories you get wrapped into to a happy ending from the shadows.

Alright everyone, welcome to my quest. This will be my second ever quest I've ever run. I ran another one a few years ago under a different name and people seemed to enjoy it. Hope you will all enjoy this one as well.

As you can tell, this game is centered around you guys controlling the actions of a mob/side character and making decisions to affect the course of whatever anime story you have stumbled upon. Any genre goes so keep your minds open when trying to figure what is going on before intervening.

The unique gimmick is the Protagonist/Mob points. These points are earned by making certain decisions and can be spent to abuse the fact that you are in a story. Mob points can do things such as make you blend into a crowd seamlessly, make people not notice you even if you are right in front of them, forget about you the second you leave their sight, etc. Protagonist points allow you to do things like interact with the "main cast of characters" and significantly affect character arcs and plot events.

Be careful when using protagonist points because this also raises the Divergence Percentage. This stat will show up when you swept into a story and tells you have far the story has diverged from the happy ending. Your goal is to aim to as close as a zero percent divergence as you can, but unexpected consequences of using Protagonist Points make in fact raise the divergence and make the plot go off the rails. You want to make sure that the Divergence Percentage of the current story arc is at least below 50% or else you will have failed to get the happy ending.

How severe your failure is depends on how much you made the story diverge by the time it ended. This can range from a bittersweet ending to a complete downer ending where everyone dies.

Now onto character creation.

Your name is Kagetora Tooru. As a child, you were the rough and tumble sort. You often got into fights with other kids, but you also had a few friends. You picked up your passion for video games from your childhood of playing fighting games against your friends. These same fighting games also inspired you to work out. Underneath your impressive physique however, is a bonafide nerd. You love to read manga and often stay up to watch anime.

This last part especially comes in handy. After reading so many mangas and watching so much anime, you seem to have picked up a knack for following the "plot" so to speak of the story you tumbled into ass backwards. Whether it's a kid detective or shounen fight manga style story, you've seen it all and expertly navigated your way through it. Well all except...

You were being a stupid kid. You thought maybe she would notice you if you showed her how cool you were. All the amazing things you've seen. You were stupid and inexperienced back then. It wouldn't happen again, you swore it to yourself.

As you roused yourself from sleep, you briefly wondered, what it would be like to have a little sister waking her onii-chan up. Or perhaps a cute childhood friend. You however, are not that lucky. You are an only child and while you love your parents to bits, being the only kid in the house often got lonely. And if there ever was a possibility of a childhood friend waking you up, you killed it by going to school all the way over in Tokyo.

Just to clear up any confusion about the Protag/Mob Point system. The points are earned by making certain decisions, picking certain dialogue actions or doing certain actions and then later can be spent on other decisions. Such decisions will have the point cost in parenthesis. Protagonist Points are spent on actions that direct influence on whatever plot you're in and the characters. Things such as punching the protagonist out of his funk or making that impossible shot. Mob Points can be used for things such as sneaking into a place you aren't meant to go because people will just not notice you or making someone completely forget who you were even though you were talking to them just a moment ago.

Of course these are just examples and there are much more uses for these points that will show up as the quest goes along.

You snapped your fingers. You were in a new place. This wasn't your small, sleepy town anymore. You had to make sure you knew where you were going. If you got lost or took the wrong train and ended up being late on your first day, well at a high school like the one you were going to, it wouldn't be the best first impression.

As you made you fried some eggs for breakfast, you thought about your new school. Ainsworth Academy. It was named after the foreigner who donated a lot of money to have the place built. As anyone could guess, it was a very prestigious, very high class academy. You had applied to go there and tested merely on a whim and had not expected the acceptance letter or the scholarship. It seemed that your hard work had really paid off. Because of the scholarship, your parents could afford to give you a bigger weekly allowance than they normally would have been able to.

At the Academy, you would be rubbing shoulders with actors, actresses, idols and the future leaders of the world. No pressure.

Because of how lost in thought you were, you had finished your morning exercises without even realizing it. Hmm, maybe it was time to increase the reps.

Having finished your exercises, you quickly made yourself some breakfast. You fried some eggs and put some rice in your rice cooker. You also had ready a glass of milk and an apple to eat on your way to school. An army marches on its stomach, as they say and you were an ardent believer. Gotta eat big to get big (though not too big else you stand out too much).

Having double checked your route to school, you made it with no incident. You breathed a sigh of relief. From what you had read in more... mature works, plots that start in crowded trains are more trouble than they're worth.

Reaching the last train stop, you get out of your seat. Looking around, you notice that the previously packed train was almost empty when it got to your stop. Strange. Usually trains in the morning rush are always packed. You couldn't even see a single person with your school's uniform.

You give your head a light knock with your fist as you exit the train. Of course you wouldn't be seeing many if any students on this train. Most of them probably dorm on school grounds or get driven in a limo or something ridiculous like that.

Exiting the train station, you walk up a hill that you are sure did not exist prior to this day, to your school. Upon seeing it, you rubbed your eyes in disbelief.

This wasn't a high school. This was an entire college campus. No it was likely even bigger than that. And right in the middle of Tokyo where real estate was at a premium? No wonder it was such a hard school to get into and pay for. Rich people loved excessive things like this, didn't they.

At the gate, your suspicions about your fellow students were proven correct. Limousine after limousine dropped off one rich student after another. You swore you could even see a helicopter land in the distance. All of them having their hair styled to perfection and any skin blemishes destroyed with the best that money could buy. You just hoped you would be able to blend into this mob that looked like it came from the pages of a teen fashion magazine.

Letting out a breath you didn't know you were holding and taking a gulp, you move forward, hoping that no one notices this mere commoner walking among the elites.

--

Some time later, you found yourself seated in class. There was quite the elaborate entrance ceremony with clubs that you thought that high schoolers had no right to be in. A beautiful blonde student council president with drill hair that you were sure wasn't dyed giving out a speech. Etc. etc. etc.

If there was one thing you were thankful for in this strange life of yours, it was that your unique nature made the club recruiters not notice your existence.

From there it was the usual seating arrangements and self introductions. You noted that the teacher was attractive if ditsy woman who seemed out of place in the Academy.

One thing that caught you off guard was that after the introductions, it was straight into the schoolwork rather than a slow easing in. You probably wrote more notes during those few hours than an entire week of your middle school.

Before you knew it, it was lunch. You had prepared lunch the night before but from now on, you would have to set aside time to prepare your lunch or be prepared to spend money to not go hungry.

We need information to tell what sort of plot we're in. Check out who our classmates are, what they're talking about, and then finish it off with a little bit of preparation so we're less preoccupied in the next time block and can more easily react to new events.

Seeing as you had this time to do what you wanted, you decided to look around and get an idea of who your classmates were and more importantly, where they were seated. Most people don't put a lot of though on where they are seated, but when you are drawn into a story, your seating can often be a life or death matter. It is the thin line between background mob and main cast. You of course were seated dead center of the class. All around you was a sea of black and the occasional brown hair. Bland forgettable faces. Yes, definitely the mobs. You stretch and let out a yawn, disguising your scan of your surroundings. For your troubles, you get a few annoyed looks.

Wait what? No one should be noticing you right now. You were a part of the scenery. Something wasn't right.

You reach up to adjust your glasses, your go to reaction to stress, when you figure out the answer. This morning, you had forgotten to bring your fake glasses or do your hair in the classic mob style haircut. Taking advantage of the nature of mob characters would be a little more difficult now.

Your scan of the classroom did yield some results however. In the protagonist seat was a small brown haired girl. She was cute, you decided but nothing exactly special. From her lunch, you could see that her family wasn't the most financially well off. She didn't seem to have a cellphone to play on to pass the time and her bag seemed somewhat used. Likely another scholarship student.

To her side was a attractive blonde teen with blue eyes. He appeared to be foreign. If the girl was the picture of poverty, he was the picture of wealth and privilege.

Wait a second. Was that a butler?

You rubbed your eyes to double check and yes, it appeared that the blonde teen was being served a very fancy meal by a butler. Of course, no noticed anything strange about it. Well except the girl who looked on hungrily.

Another thing you noticed in your scan of the classroom was an empty seat in the back. No doubt that would become important later.

You look at the clock and notice you still have time left. To pass the time and avoid a repeat of the morning, you fish out the textbooks for your next classes and decide to read ahead of the class. You hadn't expected to be thrown in the deep end of the pool from the very start. This time, you'd be prepared. As you read the books however, you got a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you should do some more research. You speed read through your textbooks and lay your head down. You would no doubt have been served better by taking your time to read, but this was more important.

You lay your head down and pretend to sleep, while keeping your ears open.

The thing about plot relevant conversations is that they are often like a dream. You don't notice anything strange about them unless it is pointed out to you or you study it very hard. Therefore, listening for something plot relevant is very mentally exhausting. You have to keep your ears open for everything and individually sort through it all for anything that seems off. It is very easy to miss even the strangest things if you aren't paying extra attention. Luckily, a quirk of your existence that you've found especially useful is the ability to zone in on one conversation as long as it is in distance and everything else conveniently turns into quiet background murmurs. Of course, it doesn't always work and you have to put effort into it, but you can hear a conversation from the other end of the room as clear as day if you put the effort into it.

Unfortunately for you today, nothing much seems to be happening. It makes sense though, it is only the first day of high school. The plot is only just starting to roll and depending on what you get yourself tangled into, it could be a very slow burn. One thing of interest you did pick up is a popular clique of rich girls planning some sort of prank on the poor plain girl. Or perhaps bullying would be a better word. Tsuki Kanda was the girl's name.

Before you could figure out anything more, the bell rang to signify the end of lunch and...

Wait a second.

You never ate your lunch. Your stomach growled at you as the teacher walked in. Sometimes you were so stupid.

--

The second part of the school day was just as hard as the first part, but for a different reason. Though you weren't floundering trying to understand the lesson, your stomach constantly reminded you that you never ate. You were sure your neighbors were annoyed by the growls as well. Overall, it was rather embarrassing. However, you finally reached the end of your first day at school. Nothing of note happened. Now you must decide what you will do. (Pick 4)

As soon as the bell signalling the end of the school day rang, the classroom rapidly depopulated. Whether to go hang out, go to clubs, study or go straight home, it was clear that the students did not want to spend anymore time than they had to in the room. Well all the better.

You took your lunch box out and prepared to eat the meal you prepared the night before. Fried chicken, rice and some pickled ginger. Perhaps not the most exciting of meals, but it was healthy. As you took your first bite out of your thoroughly boring meal. you realized that you are definitely proving every stereotype about mob characters right. But you can't help yourself, you're just drawn by the plain taste of rice complemented by the crispy fried chi- actually wait a second. The fried chicken was rather floppy and from the oil droplets left behind when you picked one up, it was clear that you had waited far too long to eat your lunch and now it tasted even blander than it looked.

Still though, food was food and before long, you finished off your lunchbox. You were even humming a happy tune. No wait, you were humming along to a song. It seemed that there was someone singing in the class next door. Your years of reading manga and watching anime come in handy as you realize that this is the most obvious plot hook imaginable. Though whatever plot you may get sucked into varied. It would be especially dangerous if this was a cute girls doing cute things kind of show. The story would be especially violent in expelling you. Will you investigate or move on to the next thing on your to do list? (Pick 1)

You shake your head. The singing career of some student is none of your concern. She can have her story happen without you. Whether she succeeds or fails in becoming an idol or musician or whatever doesn't have any world shaking consequences and you don't even know who the person is. In other words you have no connection to this and you aren't so altruistic that you'll go out of your way to involve yourself and help them. You pack your lunchbox and leave the classroom. You look around in the hallway and notice it is empty. No wonder that person chose this place to practice. Totally alone though the acoustics were a bit lacking.

No what was on your mind was what you heard earlier. That clique of girls was planning to put Kanda Tsuki in her place or something like that. No doubt this was the start of some sort of plot. Or perhaps this was the set up to a plot that would show up in flashbacks when it started properly. In any case, it piqued your interest.

You had heard a bit of their plan. They had planned to ambush her by a stairwell and... well lunch ended before you could find out what they were planning.

You reached the stairwell and could heard female laughter. It seems the party had started without you.

You peak around the corner and see them. Three girls, all stunningly beautiful and Kanda-san cowering on the floor, backed up against the wall. Her tights were ripped at her knees. She was likely tripped on the stairs. With the wall on one side and the three girls making a sort of semi circle around her, she had no way of escaping. She could only endure their cruel words and... was that juice they were pouring on her. No doubt that would ruin her clothes and her hair. Those were very important for girls. Especially a poorer one like her.

You could intervene, yes, but that would mean you were deciding of your own free will to become a part of this story. You don't know what sort of things would happen if you come out swinging or you make contact with the protagonist without being a main cast member. Judging from the handsome boy seated next to her and the fact she was a bullied underdog, there was only one genre this story could be.

Maybe he would just turn the corner coincidentally and see what was going on and there would be no reason to step in. There were so many variables to account for.

Or maybe, nothing at all would happen. What if you were wrong and this wasn't some sort of story. Would you just ignore a classmate being bullied? She was a scholarship student, same as you. It could very easily be you in her shoes.

What will you do? (Pick 1)

You pull your head back from the corner that you're watching from. You can't stand by and do nothing, but you also can't just barge in recklessly. It was in times like these that modern technology was really convenient.

You took out your phone and began recording the incident. While you wanted to step in and do something, it just wasn't an option with so many unknowns. The bullying itself was just more of the same. Food and drinks being spilled on the girl while the three talked about how she didn't deserve to be at the school. It seemed a bit overkill for bullying a poor kid. You made sure you got all of them on video. The ring leader is someone that you'd say fits the gal stereotype to a T. Dyed hair, fashionable make up and nails and stunning figure. Her light pink hair was done in a fashionably messy medium length ponytail. From her jabbering, apparently her father was the police chief. Something something Fukuyama-san. Poor guy.

Flanking her was some tanned girl with short dark hair. Probably an athlete who made it in on a sports scholarship, though knowing this school, her parents were probably Olympic athletes or something. The last one was also some gyaru though she didn't seem to have as much presence as the other two. In every respect, whether it was looks, figure, make up, accessories or what have you, she was second to the Fukuyama girl. In that case, she was the suck up. The one who hoped that Fukuyama's popularity and looks would rub off on her. Well she was doing a hell of a job emulating the queen bee.

Eventually, the girls either ran out of things to say, food and drinks to pour on Kanda or just got bored. Either way, it was time to make yourself scarce. There was only one way into the place they chose to ambush the girl and you were around the corner. You quickly look around, checking the doors of the classrooms.

No luck! They were all locked.

You didn't have much time so you decided to run as fast as you could to the stairs. Perhaps you could just pretend to be another mob heading to his club or home. You wouldn't have enough time to completely be out of sight once they round the corner, so you put your hand on the railing, put your head down and walk as if nothing was happening.
>>
>>3457110
Everything appears to be going according to plan when all of a sudden, you hear the imperious voice of whatever-her-first-name-was Fukuyama.

"Hey you on the stairs," she said, having no need to raise her voice in the empty hall "What are you doing here so late?"

You turn around, cursing the fact that you forgot to put on your fake glasses or fix your hair. It seems they have noticed you, though they may just be suspicious of anyone they ran into and didn't suspect what you were really doing. What will you do? (Pick 1)

[Hopes internally]
As far as the video goes, does anyone have any idea of how to get good use out of it? Blackmail is a pretty obvious trap when Fukuyama(?) is involved, but leveraging it against one of her mooks might be worthwhile.
>>
>>3457215
We could blackmail the suck up since she seems the easiest out of the three since Fukuyama is connected and the muscle girl might try to fight us. However whatever the choice, Tooru should do this when he is more forgettable so it'll be harder to trace it back.
>>
>>3457114
>[ ] Ignore them and keep walking (+5 Mob Points)
>>
>>3457215
However considering Tooru's skillset and situation, it would better to anonymously release the video to the school and let everyone see it.
>>
>>3457114
>>[ ] Confront them (-10 Protagonist Points)
We mastered Street fighter for a reason guys
>>
>>3457221
>>3457232
I considered the anonymous release, but it really depends on the reaction here. Fukuyama & co. might have a pretty good idea it was Tooru who dropped it, and that draws a lot of undue attention his way. Not to mention the narrative divergence from stopping the bullying in a (probable) Shojou story.
It's probably better to find the weak link between Sporty and Tag-Along and exploit her so she either leaves for practice or suggests alternate after-school activities when Fukuyama gets her initial bullying out of the way as a distraction. Tooru stays generally hands-off and only picks up the interest of one girl instead of three, and there are more opportunities for Kanda to run into the hero.
Of course sitting on it is an option too, and not a bad one if the hero is a decent guy looking for a reason to stand up for Kanda.
>>
>>3457114
>[ ] Ignore them and keep walking (+5 Mob Points).

Shit. We should have pretended to have our headphones in. Would it be possible for us to pat down our hair quickly so we look just a bit more mob?

So are we thinking of joining this plotline? I for one was hoping for a schoolboy detective plot since there's no better place for a mob than in one of those..
As for the video, if we plan to use it 'safely' then we could stick to the protagonists and offer it up to them anonymously or not, when they need some kind of proof. A kind of Deus ex Mobcina
>>
>>3457114
>[ ] Ignore them and keep walking (+5 Mob Points)

>>3457232
I'll bet you anything releasing the video will just be worse for Kanda. After all, bullies upload bullying videos on their own not just in this kind of stories, but IRL too, and rarely get their comeuppance.

Now I think we can't just stop this bullying since it's probably an integral part of the plot and the device for the love interest to come to the protag's help. So what we need to do is to determine who is the love interest and nudge them along.
>>
>>3457309
What if we're the love interest? We might be promoted to primary or secondary immediately.

You decide to ignore them and keep going. After all, you're just another mob. You keep your head down and keep going down the stairs at your normal pace.

"H-hey hold it you-" Fukuyama said, raising her voice.

It seemed she wasn't used to being ignored. It also seemed she didn't even know your name. That was a bit of a relief. You continued walking and rounded the stairwell. A few more steps and you would be in the sea of mobs. Just another anonymous face.

"Hey! She said hold it," a far more aggressive voice shouted.

You heard the footsteps of someone running to catch up and a few seconds, you felt a strong grip on your shoulder. The fingers you could see were tanned. It was the sporty girl. You still had time before the others caught up. However if they caught up, you would likely be dragged back upstairs where no one would see what was going to happen, though considering the relative lack of urgency in their voices, it was almost certain they didn't know you had the video. What will you do? (Pick 1 action)

So this is definitely shoujo with handsome blonde sitting next to this plain girl, but was the butler also handsome?

Because if he was then this is shoujo haremshit, and if that's the case then we'll either have to save this girl from a harem of Abusive badboy types, or we'll be stuck on this shit for a while because harems just never end.

Either way if the butler is handsome I suggest just emailing the file to the chief of police and telling him to either discipline his daughter or we release it to everyone and bail this route

>>
>>3457774
You can try, but with the amount of Divergence you cause by introducing an entirely different genre into a story where it doesn't belong it is going to end very badly. You'd have to deal with two very divergent plot lines that get more divergent the more they are in contact with one another. You'd have to put in a lot of effort to get both below 50% at the same time and keep them that way all the way to the end. This probably involves a lot of risk to life and limb on your part. You have to think, is this character the type to make all that hard work for himself for no reason?

Within seconds, the hand is off your shoulder as you push back hard. Whether due to the fact that she didn't see it coming, you underestimated your strength or her position on the stairs was precarious, the sporty girl takes a small tumble. It was nothing as dramatic as falling down the whole flight, but she was definitely not going to be chasing you.

As you walk into the sea of mobs, you remember to pat down your hair and keep your head down. Before long, you have blended into the crowd entirely. You sorely missed your fake glasses.

After wandering around in a circle for a few minutes, you eventually see the trio come down the staircase. Perhaps they had gone back for some extra stress relief. You note that the athletic girl had a slight limp. Oops.

Judging from their attitudes, it seems that all thought of you had completely left their mind. That was a good thing. Hmm, or maybe not. The tomboy did seem more annoyed somewhat, though Fukuyama didn't seem to be worrying.

You sighed. You didn't know how long you could keep up the mob act before you were absorbed into the collective for real. You accidentally did that once during middle school and completely missed the entire plot that you were supposed to be helping in. You hadn't snapped out of it for a few months. Your then best friend had found a cooler, new best friend. Some sort of handsome transfer student. You noted that his little harem had also decreased to just one girl. With distaste, you noted it was the most annoying one. You never understood what people saw in bipolar short tempered brats like her, but you weren't here to shame people for their taste. On another note, those few months had some of your most consistent academic performances, so it wasn't all bad.

Standing up a little straighter, you were now free to do as you pleased. You noted that the crowd had started getting thinner and the sun was going to finish its journey soon. You maybe had enough time for a few more things before you had to go home. What will you do? (Pick 1)

You briefly consider checking on if the girl was okay after all of that, but you ultimately decide not to. It wasn't like you to go interfere in a plot like that for no reason. No doubt, she was already getting comforted by some handsome hunk at this very moment. You also note with relief, that the pins and needles sensation you normally felt when slipping into a story line and the number at the back of your mind had not appeared, meaning you had managed to dodge every plot hook that had come your way. Rather than make their intimate moment awkward, you'd rather do something for your academic career at this school. That is, check out the clubs.

The school halls are pretty deserted at the moment. If the students hadn't gone home, they were in the library or already in the clubs. The school had the usual assortment of clubs you'd expect. A variety of different sports clubs (they even had American Football and horse racing for some reason) and things such as a band, light music club, art club, etc. Your usual high school clubs.

However, you knew that the Academy had even more clubs, mainly from the Entrance Ceremony. You weren't paying much attention and none of the recruiters approached you so you were sure there were stranger clubs you were missing.

Reaching a convenient map of the campus, you must decide which club room you'd check out. (Pick 1)

You decide that you are going to do some more investigation investigation on any plot hooks that could be lurking around. You start looking for unusual clubs. Ones that wouldn't be out of place in some anime. You did find a few. For example, a telepathy research club, some club with a stupid name that was trying to make branches in other schools (honestly seemed more like a cult than anything), a hanging out club (who approved this?), a service club (what kind of service?) and many others. Eventually you found your way to an old Western style wooden door.

This Academy was built with money donated by a rich foreigner and did have a strange amount of foreign students. Western style doors in the older parts of the Academy weren't exactly out of place, but this one gave you a strange feeling. There seemed to be no sign saying what was behind the door, but this was where all the rooms for the various clubs were, so surely, behind that door was another strange club.

Before you could open the door and investigate, a voice spoke up.

"Hey you!" said the cheerful female voice "I've never seen you around here before and you look pretty confused. Are you still looking for a club?"

You turned to the direction that the voice was coming. Judging from the color of her ribbon, she was an upperclassman. Judging from the rest of her, she was likely popular among the boys, yet something seemed strange here.

"Well, you're in luck," she said as she got ever closer to you and prepared her sale's pitch.

Oh great... she was one of those. An older, beautiful senpai character with a quirk.

"The Research Club is recruiting for members!" she said with much gusto.

She was now right in front of you. You had seen this scene play out multiple times before so you might as well go along for a bit.

"Research club? What exactly are you researching?" you asked skeptically.

What's this? It seems that this is the first time you've talked today. You weren't this quiet before.

"Well..." she started sheepishly "Whatever we want! There's always new things to research at the Research Club."

Ahhh... so it was one of those hang out and do nothing kind of clubs where attractive females gather to get sucked into the orbit the the chosen protagonist. Or perhaps it was female only. In any case, you had a decision to make. (Choose One)

Yes, you had seen this scene play out many times. You were one of the characters in a flashback or montage who turned down the quirky senpai's invitation until in her desperation, she runs into the main protagonist and gets him to join, saving her club at the last second.

"Ah sorry," he said with a smile as you turned her down "Your club isn't what I'm looking for."

"Wha- hmmph!" the senpai seems shocked and then pouts.

"It's not every day that a beautiful upperclassmen personally invites you to join her club," she said, doing a bit of a twirl, showing herself off.

For your part, you are unmoved by the show.

"You don't have to try so hard senpai," you tell her, keeping a straight face in response to her antics.

"Grr, you don't understand," she said, her frustration leaking out "If I don't get another member, that damn Student Council President is going to shut it down. She's always had it out for me..."

She continued on and on but you tuned her out. The President. She was the blond haired oujo-sama looking girl who gave the speech during the entrance ceremony. She looked like a composed and regal sort of girl, but clearly there was something else going on, judging by the apparent rivalry these two older girls had. Judging from her looks, this senpai was one of those Yamato Nadeshiko types at first glance, but hiding a much more quirky personality underneath. You could already see how this would play out. The foreign rich girl and the Japanese rich girl and the poor guy stick in between. Of course, you had no way of knowing if she was rich outside of genre conventions.

"Hey are you listening?" she said, snapping you out of your thoughts. She was looking at you nervously. Perhaps she was wondering if you changed your mind. She was definitely a persistent one.

What do you do in response? (Pick 1)

That sounds like a plot hook.
>>
>>3458241
I think if we were at the public school that would be a bigger deal. If I had to guess, there was the first encounter between the hero/heroine and Sporty got the worst of it.
Alternatively, she could be having a moment of crisis because her scholarship might be at risk, either because of her injury or someone threatened to squeal on her because they saw the bullying. We'll probably figure out though.
>>
>>3458250
I mean elite private schools can have elite teams. Assuming our prediction was right and she's a scholarship star I can definitely see it being an issue. You put your hand on the pushy senpai's shoulder.

"Senpai, I'm sure you'll find a great guy to join your club," you tell her "But that guy just isn't me. You should hurry up and find someone before it gets dark."

"W-wha-" she starts, taken by surprise before she grins and gets you in an armlock.

"Hahaha look at you, acting all mature," she says as she playfully tussles your hair.

Being much shorter than you, you have to bend down. Or rather, you are forced to bend down. Where does she get her strength from? Well you can't complain much, you were sure there were guys who would kill to be in your position. They were rather big to be honest...

Eventually she stops tussling your hair and lets you go.

"I'm the older one here," she states, putting her hands on her hips "So I should be the more mature one. Sorry for being so pushy, but if you ever want to hang out, you can always drop by the clubroom."

She walks off with a spring in her step, ready to find her new member (victim).

"Ah, th-thanks senpai," you say, putting in effort to do the stutter and summon a blush. You were a mob character after all, this was how you were supposed to act. You had no intention of ever visiting though. It would be for the best if you leave her be and allowed her to forget the cheeky mob character naturally. She had an entire storyline filled with fun, new friends and maybe even some romance to experience, after all.

"My name's not senpai," she says as she suddenly stops and turns around with a grin on her face "It's Hino Megumi. You'd better remember it!"

She strikes a confident pose before continuing on her way. Strange girl. That protagonist is either going to be very lucky or very miserable. Maybe both.

Now that the senpai left, the hallway was once again empty. Time to investigate this door. Truth be told, it looked rather boring and you would rather do something else right now, but all the same, your hand found the doorknob and

"Ah!" you shout as you feel an electric shock.
>>
>>3458305
You didn't mean to be that loud. You look around to make sure you didn't attract anyone's attention. Satisfied, you go back to the mystery of the door. Before you just felt your attention slipping away from the door and the pressing need to go do something else, but now, you just couldn't ignore it. Not because your attention wasn't being distracted anymore. In fact, it was getting harder to focus on the door. Rather, you were now interested in the door BECAUSE you were having a hard time focusing on it and the electric shock. No doubt, you were only aware of this because of your special nature. Any other mob would have already turned away and forgotten about it.

What will you do? (Pick 1) (You only have enough time to do one of these today before you have to go home and sleep)

Alright time's up.
>>
Electric shocks and mental suggestions weren't going to stop you. If you were anything, it was stubborn. You put your hand on the doorknob again and feel the electric shock again, but you keep holding on and turn it. Surprisingly, the place was not locked. You supposed that the shock and the mental suggestion were considered protection enough.

You throw the door open and are greeted with a dark room. You are also suddenly aware of a throbbing pain on your right hand. You look down.

"Ah," was all you had to say.

There was a doorknob shaped burn mark on your palm. Either whoever put in that defense was very reckless or did not consider that someone would keep trying after the first shock. Unfortunately for them, you were exactly that kind of idiot.

You feel around for the light switch and upon finding it, flick it on to illuminate the dark room. You are greeted with a rather opulent club room. It was like something out of the Victorian Era.

Well this was something you'd expect from an exclusive school for the rich, but something struck you as off about this. The room itself was deserted, leaving you time to do some investigating, but you didn't know how long it'd stay like that. What will you do? (Pick 3)

Alright time's up. Writing the update.

Naturally, the first thing you do upon entering a place you weren't supposed to be in is go through their paperwork. Somehow, even the filing cabinet was fancy. What did a club even need a filing cabinet for? Should you call the tax collectors to see if there was some tax evasion going on in this opulent room?

In any case, you start going through the papers. To your surprise, most of them are completely blank. Were they put here just for show? No, because a few of the papers do have visible writing in them and are placed in seemingly random folders. Perhaps they weren't so random. Maybe you just couldn't see the the writing. In any case, the ones that you could read were rather helpful. It gave you a full list of the students in the club as well as the teacher advising them. You note the names down in your phone and move on to the next thing that caught your eye.

You walk over the the big desk and sit down on the fancy office chair. You almost sink in right away. If you could sit in this chair yourself, you'd join the club immediately. You spin in the seat a bit, admiring the view when the big window behind the desk catches your eye. It was strange, you noted, how this clubroom has such a large window giving a view of the courtyard, yet you never noticed this window from the outside. You would have noticed a room as fancy as this.

Deciding you had enough fun, you begin opening the drawers. More blank papers with the occasional legible ones. All of them were students. Potential members perhaps? You copied down their names to look into it later. There was also some sort of necklace with some sort of elaborate lock on it and... a keyhole? You decide to smell the chair.

...

Yup, feminine shampoo and the lingering scent of some perfume. The president was a girl and had a judging from the necklace and how these types of stories normally went, she made a promise to someone in her childhood. Spinning in the chair to collect your thoughts once more, you notice how late it's getting. Time to go home.

You quickly leave the room and close the door behind you, getting a shock for your troubles. You fast walk down the hallway and just as you round the corner, you hear some fast footsteps coming from the other side of the hallway.

"Right this way," you hear a dignified voice say "Someone got in!"

"It's gotta be one of them..." another, more aggressive voice said.

"B-be careful," you hear yet another voice.

"Don't worry, I'll punish them severely," said a fourth, who giggled at the end.

It seems you had left just at the nick of time. You could feel cold sweat pouring down your back during your trip to your locker to get your shoes, on the train ride home and all the way back to your dorm, where you collapsed in bed. However, it was not time to go to sleep just yet. You still had things to do. (Choose 2 options)

Alright, time's up. Update incoming.
>>
You get up from bed and decide to do your homework. Finding plot hooks to figure out how to avoid them is great and all, but it won't do you any good if you flunk out of classes. You go to pick up your bag before hissing in pain. The burn mark is still there on your hand. You click your tongue in annoyance. You're going to have to deal with that, but unfortunately, you don't have a first aid kit or anything of the kind. You'd have to make do. You look through your closet and find what you're looking for. A plain white t-shirt. With some scissors, you turn it into rags and cover up the burn with the makeshift bandage. It isn't perfect but it'd have to do.

Afterwards, you get to work on your homework. Because of the studying you had done earlier that day, the homework wasn't as hard as it could have been and you finished relatively quickly.

Once you were done with your homework, you got to work exercising. You had to prepare your body for the next day. Not only was the chunni patrol going to be on the lookout, you might get dragged into something with that girl in your class. Not to mention any other unplanned for obstacles. That was one of the annoyances of not being wrapped up in a plotline. The universe would keep throwing something at you until you found yourself a nice story to hide yourself in as a side character and even that reprieve was temporary and brought with it a whole host of new troubles.

You quickly get done with your exercises and take a shower. It wouldn't do any good going to school smelling like a garbage bag on a hot day. As you showered, you felt that you hadn't gotten the most out of your exercises. Perhaps you would have to try harder. As soon as you were done and changed into a comfortable t shirt and boxers, you collapsed into bed, asleep before your hid even hit the pillow.

Perhaps the next day wouldn't be as annoying.

--

You wake up and look at the time. You had woken up somewhat early. Perhaps it was because you went to sleep earlier than usual. Having this extra time, you make yourself some breakfast and eat it and put on your fake glasses ahead of time. No need to repeat yesterday's mistake. In any case, you had time to do a few things before going to school. (Pick 5)

The first thing you do is deal with your stomach. It had been growling at you ever since you woke up. A consequence of skipping dinner the previous night. You shrugged. Whatever was done, was done. You make yourself breakfast and prepare your school lunch at the same time. The breakfast goes a long way to satisfying your stomach and with your school lunch out of the way, you are now free to exercise. You do your usual, doing your best not to overexert yourself, partly because your hand still hurts and partly because you don't want to get all sweaty.

Feeling satisfied with your results, you go on to more important things. The bullying video and the information you got from the clubroom. What do you do?

First you examine the bullying video. (Pick 2)

I sincerely doubt we'd find anything on the bullied girl online if she came to the school like we did. I also doubt publishing the video will have a major impact, probably have connections within the school itself to avoid punishment anyway.

A rich school in Japan and no Ojou-sama yet? Damn.
>>
Actually I think I'll do the update tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty pooped right now.

Read the part with the entrance ceremony again.
>>
>>3459109
Alright, later and thanks for the quest.
>>
>>3459101
It's a high class academy full of primarily rich kids, with the exeption of scholarship kids like us.
It's not that there's no ohohos. It's that unless they're specifically called out as normal, they're ALL ohohos.
>>
>>3459109
Must have been good garlic bread. Guess speculation is going to need to wait until tomorrow.
>>
>>3459101
What anime is this gif actually from. I've seen it for years

Fate/Apocrypha

Intel gathering time! If we figure out what’s going on we can smoothly insert into the story and penetrate deep into its darkest depths.

Alright lads, I took a break yesterday and right now I'm not at home. Won't be back for 12 hours and all my stuff is on my PC. I'll post a new thread when I'm home.
>>
>>3462956
Oh for some reason it seems my tripcode didn't show up. Also it seems that the post bumped the thread. Is the 72 hour limit thing gone now?
>>
>>3463387
5 days before autosage.
>>
>>3463387
I guess I'll just file that 'Death by Garlic Bread' Obituary for another time.
>>
MobQM here. After my 12 hour overnight volunteer shift, I ended up being knocked out all day and just woke up. I was hoping to get some sleep but it was a busier night than expected. I don't think we'll be able to make any significant progress in the game if I started it now so I'll wait until tomorrow. Sorry lads.

Polite sage.
>>
No worries, see you when you feel better!
>>
This isn't bumping anymore, right? Should I make a new thread?
>>
prolly should
>>
>>3469795
>>3469758
/qst/ is a slow board. No need to make new thread until Page 10.
>>
>>3469758
It's not bumping and you should make a new thread.
>>
>>3470253
see >>3470251
you just need to use "Last Reply" for the catalog
>>
>>3470360
? That doesn't fix the problem of the thread autosaging. A new thread fixes that. OP, start a new thread, don't listen to this idiot.
>>
>>3471042
Are you retarded? Its only page 5. Its like a week away from getting archived.
>>
>>3471118
Are you a complete fucking dumbass? It's so new players can join in, you mouth-breathing prick.
>>
>>3471123
New threads while the old ones are still on the catalog doesn't make it any easier for new players to join in you fucking newfag. You're definitely a newfag to /qst/ or else you wouldn't be insisting on being this retarded.
>>
>>3471142
The fuck are you on about dipshit? Of course it's easier for them. Do you think everyone knows about the archives or even how to archive? Do you think every single QM archives their own threads or posts their past threads? Dumbass faggot, the answer is no, because that's actually a common occurrance here for new QM and people on this board. At least with a both threads up, the new players can read the old ones and then vote in the new ones, shit eating cunt.

MOB DIED ON THE WAY BACK TO HIS HOME PLANET BY CHOCKING ON DEEZ NUTS!!!
>>
>>3477651
Garlic bread finally did him in.
>>
I actually have part of the OP written up, I'm just having a bit of writer's block.
>>
>>3471142
>>3471156
As someone who just joined and caught up, it is a lot nicer being able to read the original thread than going to suptg or whatever the archive site is. That being said, there's already a one week archive built into this board.

Either way you're both ridiculously salty. Calm down lmao.
