Cover-art kindly provided by our noble artiste, Draw-anon, who kindly took time off repainting the Sistine Chapel for us. Look upon our prettyboy protagonist. Look upon his devilish smile and despair.

In last thread’s episode of One Piece Genuine Pirate Quest, our accurately named mysterious hero MYSTERIOUS HERO ARTHUR tragically lost his ship and crew to the fiercely flung cannon-balls of the monstrous Marine, Vice-Admiral Garp. Managing to make his way to Mocktown to drown his sorrows, he came across a valiant warrior of the sea and befriended him via COCKTAILS and SHOOTING PEOPLE. Having one too many (the cocktails, not the shooting), our mysterious hero succumbs to the sweet embrace of unconsciousness...

We now return you to your scheduled idiocy.

>hug yer bestest... bestest.... zzzzzzzzz

oooooooooooohhhhhhhh wow

your head

Ow

OWWWWWWWW.

... yup. This is a Pink Flamingo headache, all right.

You open your eyes in a squint, trying to remember what happened... beyond the drinking. There was... Captain Usopp? Yeah. Nice guy. And... a dead guy? What an asshole. Um. And hugging? Yeah, you remember hugging Usopp a lot, not the dead guy. And... telling him he was your best friend? Huh. Now you think about it, do you HAVE a best friend? You kind of think you have... multiple friends now? Wow. Awesome. Maybe not a best one though?

... Wait, where are you?

Gentle sway... a ship. Wooden planks for ceiling. Inside the ship. Beyond that...

Owwwww.

“Ow,” you announced because sometimes saying it helps. Then you manage to sit up, head clearing a little, and look around the small cabin. Looks like someone just dumped you on top of a cot-bed - you’re still wearing your badass disguise, apart from the boots, which are - yup, by the bed. Oh, and there’s your duffle bag as well.

You wriggle the boots on, pushing yourself standing. Teeeeny little cabin, probably a small ship, too, but you can hear people talking somewhere outside.

Hm. This is weird. Why are you.........

wait

................ did you get kidnapped again.

Previous thread archived!

Guess what? I still haven’t finished reading up on Skypiea and I also need to get home, so that’s all for tonight! My data refreshes at midnight, so update tomorrow morning Britbong time to kick us all off, as the Strawhats deal with two STRANGE AND MYSTERIOUS new passengers, along with the convenient absence of their regular sharpshooter, whoever he is. Probably not important.

Also, Chopper is cute.

But seriously, not hugely long, it's more of an insight into Usopp's psyche and to show stuff going on with the Strawhats that you'd either miss or not understand just from Flashy's POV.

You just might find it more fun to muddle through as Flashy with no idea what's going on.

>from sniper island to sky island

Your name is SOGEKING! Greatest sniper in the world! Brave warrior of the sea! A man ready to stand and fight (from a good distance) for what you believe in!

And though the rest of the crew are clearly unaware of your cunning ruse, you’re also Usopp. The weakling. The nobody.

Yup. Absolutely noooobody has seen through your cunning ‘cover my face in bandages and a pair of goggles’ disguise. Definitely. Ignore all the pointed looks, Uso- Sogeking! It’s impossible to see through!

.... ahahahahahaaaaaaa...

W-well. The important thing is that Sogeking’s courage has already brought you through the Knock-Up Stream with a total lack of terrified screaming, so it’s working! It’s really working! You’d thank Arthur for the idea, but... well, he’s still unconscious. And like hell you’re gonna admit that you’re just a random crew member and not the Great Captain Usopp!

You manage to turn your melancholy sigh into a dramatic one as Merry sails towards the massive cloud-thing.

At least you LOOK like a badass. Even if Carue keeps imitating your poses to mock you, the asshole.

You’re interrupted from your Dramatic Staring Into The Distance by Chopper tugging at your sheet. Uh, cape. Right.

“Sogeking, are you sure you don’t want me to look at your face?” He looks up at you with such sad, worried eyes, you almost want to yank the bandages off, but that would mean becoming Usopp again. And... you don’t really want to be him right now.

(1/2)
>>
“Don’t worry, Chopper-kun!” You strike a pose and laugh heartily, glad by how reassured he looks. “My terrible wounds are healing well with all this fresh sea air!”

“But they’re covered up...? And we’re in the sky...?”

“AHAHAHA, there’s nothing like fresh... sky... air to heal a sniper’s wounds! The people of Sniper Island are intimately connected with the wind and air! In fact, the higher we go, the faster we heal!”

“WHOAH! That’s amazing!”

“Ahahahaha yes so it is ahahaha!” crapcrapcrapcrapcrap that makes no sense

And then you’re saved, because a door opening heralds the emergence of Arthur, still with his collar high and cap low, half-stepping from the cabin you dumped him in.

“Oi! Have I gotten kid... napped... again...?”

He trails off, staring at the assorted Strawhats on deck, who mostly pay him zero mind, being far too interested in the approaching mass of solid-looking cloud.

>Ah, Arthur-kun! Usopp-kun had to go, so he passed you over to my protection! I, the Great Sogeking, apologize for the inconvenience! (pretend Usopp ditched him on you. It’ll be fiiiiiine.)

Quick! Get in with an explanation before anyone else does!

“Ah, Arthur-kun! Usopp-kun had to go, so he passed you over to my protection! I, the Great Sogeking, apologize for the inconvenience!”

Arthur stares at you. You can’t really see much of his face, but the blank-eyed stare creates an aura of confusion that goes beyond mere facial expression. “... What.”

“Sogeking’s travelling with us for a while,” Zoro butts in, smirking at you, “so his good friend Usopp ditched you here with us. I guess he had better things to do, huh?”

“I’m s-sure he had incredibly important tasks,” you mutter, reaching up to adjust your goggle. “Anyway! We’re currently in the White Sea, en route to Sky Island! Fear not, for your safety is assured under our watch! Probably.”

“This is... the Strawhats’ ship, right?” Yeeeeah, you guess a lot of the crew are pretty recognizable these days.

“Yes?”

Arthur pauses. “Excuse me.” Then he steps back into the cabin, closing the door behind him. Two seconds later, you hear a long, muffled scream from inside. A very long one. ... Yeah, that’s pretty long. Impressive lungs.

Chopper stares at the door, as do most of the crew. “Do you think I should check on him?”

>No, I think he just has a... bad impression of the Strawhats. Just give him some time, Chopper-kun.

You are PRINCESS FL- wait, no. You are MYSTERIOUS HERO ARTHUR, a fledgling pirate and repeat kidnap victim.

You are currently screaming,

“-RRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh...” you trail off, mostly because you’ve run out of oxygen again, and need to gasp. Sooner than you expected, too - the air must be thinner up here, as you’re, y’know.

In the sky.

Yuuuuuuuup.

What the fuck. What the fuck. What the fuck.

N, wait. Not important. More importantly, Usopp left you with some bandaged sniper dude, who decided to... take you onboard the Strawhats’ ship. Somehow. For some reason.

In other words...

You got drunk and kidnapped by pirates. Again.

Smoboss is gonna murder you, Tashigi is gonna murder you. Klaus is gonna murder you for missing more lessons than necessary. Does anyone know where you are? Do they think you’re DEAD?! Going missing in Mocktown doesn’t sound good... especially if that bartender tells Curly and Tashigi that you got dragged out drunk by a pirate Captain...

Oh noooooooooooooooooooo

Okay. It’s fine. Cool it, Fla- no, Arthur. Your disguise is still working. You have your weapons. The Strawhats may be a cunning and depraved crew, but you can still fool their simple pirate brains.

You’re calm. You’re an iceberg of smooth coolness.

You freeze up.

You may be quivering slightly, eyes widening, lips parting to let out a gasp of sheer amazement at the pure and precious sight in front of you.

CHILD MINK

CUTE

TOO CUTE

“F-fluffy...” you whisper. Fortunately, with your body locked down, you don’t throw yourself at the adorable child, or make a high-pitched (manly) squeal of glee. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you recognise that the ‘Chopper’ name is probably a surname, and the kid’s likely related to the massive deer mink sighted in Alabasta,

But never mind that.

CUTE. CUTECUTECUTECUTECUTE

“aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,” you breathe, eyes blurring slightly from their sudden wetness.

“Are - you all right?” The adorable mink stares up at you with a worried gaze.

“Your speech seems to be impaired, though. Maybe a quick check-up—“

“NOOOO! I’m good, honest! Just -“ You cough, steeling your anti-cute defences. This is a person, not an animal! And, well... doctor or not, a child can hardly be a pirate, especially when he’s probably just been dragged along by his irresponsible big brother or father, right? “It was... kind of a shock, waking up on the Strawhat ship, is all. Especially when I was last in a bar with Usopp...”

The adorable child frowns, “Usopp... I wonder where he is...?”

“Oh? You know him?”

His already cute eyes widen. “N-no! I absolutely don’t know him! No-one on the crew’s heard of Usopp! We just know about him from Sogeking!”

“Yeah, Usopp’s gonna be so disappointed when he realizes he missed out on a sky island...” You feel kind of bad for the poor guy. He’s clearly not cut out for the pirate life, but he made it to Jaya to try and get to a sky island - and now you’ve discovered they exist, but he’s already gone.

Hopefully he’ll find another way up here. Or go back home and live a peaceful life as a civilian. That’s good too!

Doctor Chopper seems upset too. Oh, sea- no, sky-gods, you want to hug him. So much. So much. “I’m sure Usopp w-would just be glad we’re having adventures! Because he sounds like a nice guy! Even though I definitely don’t know him!”

“He’s a really great guy,” you agree, forcing yourself not to coo over those big eyes and clenched... hooves? You don’t know how that works. It’s still cute! “Maybe I’ll try to get him a souvenir in case I ever see him again... if there’s sky-people here, maybe they have sky-candy...”

Oh no. His eyes.

They got BIGGER.

“Sky-CANDY?!”

“I know, right?!”

You can’t see very well, with all the sparkles the two of you at emitting, but it doesn’t matter. Only your sense of taste matters, anyway.

“D-do you think they might have cotton-candy made out of CLOUDS?!”

“If they don’t, they will when I’m done with them,” you vow.

The pair of you devolve into a blissful, sparkling silence as you vividly imagine the purity and sweetness of sky-candy. Too good for this sinful world...

A rap on the grabs your attention. “Hey! Chopper, passenger, we’re heading towards some big gates! You might want to come and see!”

That’s... the Princess, right? The ‘hostage’ - as if. She sounds waaaaaay too excited and happy, even if you didn’t already know she’s a filthy pirate runaway.

I don't know if I'm on the waifu train, although I wouldn't be opposed. I am looking up the timetable for the Protect Robin train to see if it arrives at the station while we're in Skypeia.

>>3462031
Not OP but pretty sure it's Robin, OP did point out she got pretty shit rolls during Alabasta, and she was at the palace when Ace Firebombed Croc.

Plus Ace has left with Garp's ship, which is heading for Marineford. So he shouldn't be in Jaya to roast Sis.

>Also people now actually want to kill Ace so that's fun too.
People who want to kill him are forgetting that, at the point Robin got those scars, she was a known Baroque Works agent who had no known association with the Strawhats. AKA she was on the team of the guy actively trying to murder Ace's brother. I don't blame him for not bothering to control his flames.

>>
>>3462077
>Waifu Train

I may have started that, but I wouldnt call it a train yet. Really, all I want for Flashman is some happiness in the most Shounen way possible. If the Waifu Train demands to be boarded here, with an OC from BPQM, or never at all, all that matters is that it fits narratively and Flashman finds (makes) his family.
>>
>>3462077
>We're on the waifu train now.
More like we're waiting on the station and QM is delaying the arrival. Its going to happen sometime in the future, but nowhere soon.
>Also people now actually want to kill Ace
I did, but that was when I was convinced it was Tashigi who got broiled. Im still waiting for QM to confirm it was actually Robin. We didn't met her in the quest yet, so Im indifferent to her well-being at this point in time.
>>
Isn't Robin 28 pre-timeskip? Doesn't seem like it'd work out
>>
>>3462118
> It's going to happen sometime in the future
Nah QM went on record saying that they were uncomfortable with writing romance, so they didn't particularly want to give Flashy a waifu. Can't remember which thread by it's there somewhere.
>>
>>3462112
>forgetting
I don't think literally anybody is. They evidently just don't care.
>>
>>3462115
The thing with Robin is that she literally had no choice but to become a pirate.
The WG killed her entire island just for crimes they MIGHT commit and intended the same for her.
Considering Flashy is already flaking a little on JUSTICE that certainly won't help his opinion.
But I guess we'll see.
Narratively it fits.
>>

Indeed.
What are your thoughts about roll for 'Flash man getting a vanilla cliché romcom romance' that got 96, followed by QMs own reply roll for 'his romcom romance... with a pirate!' that got 93, both in thread 12?
You can't make this stuff up, its just too good.
>>
>>3462182
I'd say that dice rolls outside actual roll posts are invalid unless QM desperately wants to use them. Otherwise imagine all the bullshit that could sneak in.
Also all this dicefagging is a mistake to begin with. The whitebeard pirate interlude was a mistake, both for the plot and the dicefagging it spawned

And considering on the topic on romance QM is option is a solid nah...

Besides forcing something a QM isn't supportive of is the quickest way of killing a quest. Burnout is real.

To be perfectly honest, every time players non-jokingly waifu/husbando someone, my urge to write this quest dies a little more.

You can write your own romantic or smutty fantasies (off-thread somewhere), but they're not happening in-quest. Honestly, I'm starting to regret trying to be nice and giving Robin cool scarring rather than something more serious, which she frankly should have had based on rolls.

Romance isn't going to happen, with anyone, no matter what dice say or how many people push for it.
>>

There was briefly a thing about a potential weapon we could call Mercy, probably a misericorde, on account of a smartass comment in response to us supposedly not having any mercy.

Certainly not something that should obviously be restricted to Nat 1s
>>
>>3462262
It was originally going to be a thing if yu guys wanted to gain some pirate's picture by flirting/seducing her into letting you take photos before you ran off. Then this turned into 'what is photography, I like stabbing things' quest, and thus it became even more of a joke. I'll probably just ditch it to avoid this kind of crap.

>>3462244

She SHOULD have had serious injuries. I tried to be nice and make them superficial and not actually a real problem. I feel like the only way to remove the issue to is to get rid of plot armour entirely, down to just letting you guys shoot Zoro next time you see him, but THAT would probably be petty.

>that's all you had to say
Yes, I've said it. About fifty million fucking times. It gets old.

>>3462298
In-game? No. In the comments? The weapons weren't too bad because people were mostly joking. Tashigi was a pain in the ass despite me saying forty thousand times nothing was going to happen, and I can now see it happening with Robin. I just can't be bothered any more.

I just like quests not being afraid to stick it to either the player or canon. Quests are entirely shaped by player actions after all.

This whole debate reminds me of Stardust Crusader quest where we rolled a nat 1 during a hostage negotiation and got Koichi killed. Duster got so much shit for it but I loved it.

>>3462298
People are getting pretty serious about Robin in this very thread.

Also there was a play for Nami when we encountered her in Loguetown. And all the Sis lewding requests.

>>3462305
Nat 1 territory in Robin's case would be her getting killed off by getting caught in Ace's fire though.

She got shit rolls when defending a literal wall of flame. Injuries should be expected.

The eternal dibs war with Tashigi is probably one of my favorite things. Plus the two are different sides of the same coin.

Flashman is the outwardly bumbling hyper competant side and Tashigi is the reliable yet still clumsy side. The two play off each other well as Smoker designated brats.

>explore PIRATELAND, the ship of SCUM and VILLAINY

“We should... probably go,” you whisper into the reverent atmosphere. “To look for cand- I mean. To see what’s happening.”

“Y-yes... What’s happening. Exactly!” Chopper gives a small cough (CUTE) and heads towards the door, followed by yourself, tugging your collar a little higher, just in case.

Good thing you’re a Mysterious hero/pirate!

Most of the Strawhat Scum seem to be crowded on deck, though you can’t see the giant mink anywhere - you try not to glare at the backs of the criminals as they exclaim over the massive set of gates the ship is aiming to pass through. You’re a pirate, now. Gotta play the part.

‘HEAVEN’S GATE,’ the sigh over the gates announces. Sounds presumptuous to you.

“That waterfall-looking cloud is really a waterfall!” The Witch-Thief is apparently just as awed by the spectacular sight of the pillar of tumbling clouds as everyone else. Admittedly, it DOES look kinda cool. Why didn’t they cover sky islands in the Academy? “It has clouds of different properties falling down!”

... you’d say a cloud’s a cloud, but clearly not.

“‘Heaven’s Gate’...”

“What a bad omen,” the Sogeking guy announces. “It’s like we’re - Well, it doesn’t matter! I’m excited!”

“Excited to enter Heaven, huh...?” Lolonoa Asshat suggests, weirdly mocking. Well, you can sort of understand. As pirates, they’re definitely destined for the lowest level of Hell.

Not Chopper, obviously!

“A-absolutely!” Sogeking nods furiously, already shaking with anticipation. “Wow! Can’t wait! You Strawhats sure have some fun hahahahaaaaaa!!”

The princess pats him on the back, clearly encouraged by his enthusiasm, while Zolo and Cheapshot (that trash!) snigger. Weirdoes.

“Someone’s coming out,” some guy observes, a hand resting on his undrawn sword hilt. Kohza, you assume - possibly the biggest threat, although he’s had little time to train his power. If you had your seastone cuffs with you...

(SPLASH)

For anyone who doesn’t read One Piece, I won’t be describing literally everything, so you guys want to read chapter 238 to properly visualise stuff.

>everyone say cheeeeeeeese

The first, most obvious thing - take pictures. Partly because Strawhats, and partly because the sky stuff is actually pretty cool.

Tugging your camera from your jacket pocket, you quickly start snapping the surroundings (and Strawhats’ backs) as some old lady comes closer.

She... has wings.

Okay.

You take a picture of her too, because wings.

And she’s taking pictures of you guys. Okay.

As you get close enough to hear, she calls out, “Are you here for sightseeing, or to fight?” Then, lowering the camera, “Actually, it doesn’t matter why you’re here. If you want to go up, each person must pay a one billion aigusu entrance fee. That’s the law.”

...

What the crap is aigusu? And - do you technically come under this place’s law? Is it affilitiated with the World Government? Maybe it is, but just classified? Cruuuuud, you have no idea...

You ignore Strawhat’s yelling over her being an angel (impossible) or the Witch Thief’s question over not having money. If they don’t want to pay, you need to be ready for when they attack he-

“You can still go up,” the old lady states, sounding bored, followed by a chorus of confusion and cheers from the pirate dumbasses. You take another couple of pictures, just because. “Also... if you don’t want to go up, it’s okay too,” she continues, as you carefully step closer to the railings (and pirates). “I’m not a guard or soldier... I just want to know your intention.”

... Lady, they’re pirates. They want to rob everyone. Do you not see the jolly roger? Do you not have pirates here?

(1/2)
>>
Do you have to protect an entire civilization of winged people from the depredations of a Revolutionary pirate crew by yourself?! Are they gonna rob them, or establish some kind of secret Revolutionary base in the sky?! Or both?!

You gnaw on your lip like it’s a chewy candy. But less tasty.

“Then we’ll go!” At least Strawhat isn’t ordering anything malicious right now. “We want to go to sky island, even though we don’t have the money, granny!”

“Really? Ten people and a duck, right?”

You look to the side, to see Strawhat’s confused face. No-one seems bothered by the fact you’ve slipped among them, wriggling your way in like the expert infiltrator you are! Brilliant!

“Um - how do we get up?” Strawhat sure seems weedier than you expected, even knowing his bounty photo... maybe being rubber doesn’t encourage visible muscle development? His brother and grandfather seemed to pack it on easily enough.

The ship - rocks, knocking you off balance, two huge pincers appearing over the side of the ship, and with the old woman’s casually-called explanation of the ‘Speedy Shrimp’, the goddamn thing starts hurtling up the ‘waterfall’ of clouds, carrying the ship on its back, as the screams of panic and excitement ring out.

... This is fine.

>he has a doctorate in ADORABLENESS

The caravel is at - almost 90degrees (direction, not temperature), so you react on sheer instinct; hang on, and grab the innocent child!

(The cuddly, fluffy child... purely to make sure he doesn’t fall. Naturally.)

One hand slams out to grab onto a railing as the Strawhats do the same to any nearby part of the ship, while your other hand lunges to snag Chopper and yank him close. It’d be nice if you could manage picture too, but with both holding on to a) the ship and b) the civilian, that’s unfortunately impossible.

“Wha-agh! Thank you!” Aaaaaa~ too cute as he goes from flailing in sudden panic to grabbing right back. Kohza confirms his identity in your mind as he glazed into sand to supportthe duck from falling, too.

Smoboss is gonna murder you, you think tiredly, as the shrimp races merrily ‘upstream’, over a ribbon of coiling, winding cloud.

“This thing was probably artificiallly made, right?” You can barely tell who’s yelling, above all the wind, but at least the Strawhats aren’t yelling any more.

“There’s something written at the top!”

“It’s an exit!”

You tighten your grip on the wide-eyed deer mink, as you stare up towards the sign embedded in the cloud.

“Godland Skypiea!!?l

“It’s not an exit!” No shit, genius. “It’s an entrance!”

You duck your head, twisting your arm further around the railing so you extend it to hold onto your cap, as the shrimp-and-ship emerges violently into another sea of clouds, massive island coming into view as the Strawhats exclaim.

You peer down at the excited doctor(?), looseningmyour grip on the railing now the ship’s at a decent, respectable angle. “Are you all right?”

“Yes! Thanks for looking out for me.” He taps your arm lightly with a hoof, eyes still fixed on the shoreline ahead. “You can put me down now!”

Reluctantly, you place Chopper down. Carefully. Then you pat his hat. “Be careful...” you start to say, but he’s already throwing himself back by the railing to chatter with everyone about the island.

... This ship... definitely isn’t childproof.

Wait. You have a job to do! (Ew.)

Taking a deep breath of the thin air, you pull the camera out again, and start casually taking pictures of the surroundings... and the Strawhats. By accident, of course.

You’re juuuust taking a snap of the surroundings which conveniently includes an excellent shot of Kohza, when you feel a tap on your shoulder. You turn to see

“It’s okay, we don’t need Sogeking either,” Strawhat confides, as if to encourage you. “We already have a sharpshooter! But you guys can stay with us for a while, as long as you’re not boring and don’t eat my meat.”

“.......... Thanks?” You wanna shoot him. Pistol-chan also wants to shoot him. You know this to be true. Also, how is this dumba- no.

Of course.

This kid’s a goddamn genius, and an expert actor. He almost had you thinking he was a total idiot! Despite working for Dragon himself, despite recruiting a crew this dangerous, despite having found a way to a freakin’ SKY ISLAND, you still almost fell for his act!

You need to stay alert, and deep undercover, if this guy thinks for one second that you’re a Marine, let alone the one who got his brother all Shichibukaied up...

“You can have any meat I get in the future, in payment for your help, Captain,” you politely add, as though you’ve fallen for his act. Two can play at that game!

The punk grins at though, bouncing on his feet. “Oh, that’s even better! You’re an okay guy, Mystery Guest!”

“My name’s Arthur.”

“Okay, Mystery Guest!”

He must be doing that on purpose. No-one could be dumb enough to get someone else’s name blatantly wrong like that...

“Sure, if they want,” he says.

Good enough. You give him a thumbs-up, and take it as permission to take more blatant pictures. “Thanks, Strawhat!” Thanks for SCREWING YOURSELF, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

“No problem, Mystery Guest!”

.... You still wanna shoot him.

“We’re coming ashore!” The call from Cheapshot interrupts, the duck and Kohza already jumping overboard like lunatics. Well, it’s not like a caravel is as high as a regular Marine ship, you guess...

“LAND!” Strawhat yells, and... slingshots himself over onto the beach. Okay.

>follow the not-leader (he's just not that interested in you...)

While Zolo and Cheapshot bicker over the viability of anchors in a sea made of cloud, and the woman and Sogeking (and Chopper!) wait for the ship to get closer, you activate your amazing jumping abilities, and throw yourself after the Strawhatted captain of villainy.

Whatever he tries to get up to, you'll be right there to stop him. Sure, you're not strong enough or stupid enough to take on the while crew at once, but maybe you can nudge whatever insidious plans they have off course.

And rescue Chopper at the end, naturally. The poor kid will hardly be thrilled to be separated from the people he obviously adores, even if you DON'T have to beat up or kill any of them in front of him, but you hardly leave the sweet little thing here, can you? Even without all the danger, what if some asshole at HQ gives him a bounty! He shouldn't have his entire life screwed just because he got dragged onto a pirate ship!

Plus... cute.

The 'shore' is made of weird, soft cloud coated by the waves of misty cloud, and it's not difficult to run on, although the air is still different enough that you doubt you could move at top speed for long.

Strawhat is faster than you, but you catch up easily enough as he explores the beach, exclaiming over the palm trees that line it. Whatever their fruit is, you don't recognize it.

... You take a picture anyway.

Kohza, meanwhile, seems to be testing to see if there's any actual sand on the beach, but nope. Just cloud.

Hopefully Zoro won't recognise us as long as we don't actually dual wield/use our jitte
>>
>>3465389
He could, but he and Sanji are talking right now. It'll be harder for him to recognize Ka-tan seeing as you've only got one sword out, but from this distance and as he's not paying attention, you can get away with it.

If you actually sparred he'd recognize your moves, but a brief run-through to check your ability should be fine.

So don't fight with Ka-tan in front of him, but I'm assuming you're turning and using cover not to let him have a good look at Ka-tan in general.

>Try meteor hammer out, see how effective you are with it.

If we're keeping all other weapons hidden to avoid being recognised, then we're going to be using the newest addition to our family a lot. If we're shite using it we can blame it on the lack of oxygen rather than our inexperience.
>>
Should I assume you guys put Ka-tan in the duffle bag with the rest of the weapons while you were in the cabin? The rest of your weapons are still in said cabin, by the way.

If no vote changes/additions soon, I'll call for explore.
>>
>>3465415
Even if they are marine issue all the Strawhats probably know that Ensign Flashman is the guy with all the weapons. Us bringing out a bunch more (keeping in mind we're already armed with hammer and gun) might raise red flags with the more observant members.

Also if Zoro recognizes them as marine issue that might be a problem, especially as Flashman's cover story is he has marine inflicted PTSD. (Gun won't be an issue because the only one who'll know it's marine issue is MAYBE Usopp, and he's got bigger things to worry about)

Hammer is the safest bet because no one has seen Flashman using it.
>>
>>3465441
I'll vote explore.
Also we should grab a few cannonballs for our Duffle bag when we get the chance.
>>
>explore the mystery beach

Well, it doesn't really look like Strawhat can do much piracy or Revolutionary nonsense right now... considering he's climbing a palm tree... to get a fruit.

Right.

With that in mind, you give yourself a little while to mentally squeal lime a five year old over the fact you're on a frigging SKY ISLAND and set out to explore, just as the ship finishes docking and the other start coming ashore.

Being a curious kind of guy armed with unfamiliar weaponry in unfamiliar territory, where your only backup are pirates, you cleverly decide to check it out.

You raise your camera, and find the perfect angle (angle, angel, heh) to capture a good shot. What with the camera being made for stealthy picture-taking, there's no sound for her to hear, and you're still a fair distance anyway.

You doubt most people would believe the wings are real, but still. YOU know it's an actual sky-lady - with a cute little fox thing sitting at her side, as well - and that's what counts!

... Plus, if Smoboss and Tashigi are impressed, they might be less likely to brutally murder you. Would Mr Speedy even work up here? How DO den dens work? Are snails magic?

... Is there a den den zoan out there?

Wait. Pictures. Right.

>7 for contemplating Den Den zoans, 6 for approaching sky-lady. understandable, Den Dens are way cooler than angels

(Photography +2 by the way, because I keep forgetting to mention it.)

Now that then pictures are done, you can turn your thoughts back to a far more important matter.

Den Den zoans.

Are Den Dens actually natural animals, or were they somehow engineered? Even if they aren’t natural, neither are mythical beasts, and there are still zoans of THEM, so it’s not like it should matter, right? And putting physical possibility aside, what would such a zoan look like? Would the Den Den form be human-sized? What about the type of Den Den? There are different ‘models’ for dogs and the like, so would there be a baby Den Den zoan and a transponder zoan, for example? Would the user have the full capabilities of their respective Den Den? Would they be able to call normal Den Dens with the power, or only other Den Den users? Would normal Den Dens be able to call THEM? What about listening on other people’s calls? How would the facial mimicry work? Would they be able to alter voices to make fake calls? Would they have literally ANY actual combat powers? How much lettuce could a Den Den zoan eat in one sitting?

“-thur?”

What would one of those mid-way forms look like? Would they have the shell? The face? The little stalk eyes? If they’d had the stalk eyes, would they keep their human eyes? That could be useful for fullly watching a battlefie-

“ARTHUR!”

You blink. And turn to look at Sogeking. “Yes?”

“... Are you all right?”

Why wouldn’t you be? “Yeah, I’m good. Why?”

“R-right... You saw the angel, yeah?”

Another look shows that the angel-lady has left her giant rock, instead cutting open one of those giant fruits Strawhat was climbing to get. When did that happen?

“All right, enjoy!” She passes the fruit over to Strawhat (there’s a straw in it now? The hell?), and you glance back at Sogeking.

Eh, my main complaint about This Bites, is the bloat. And the absolutely obscene chapter lengths. It makes it something of a chore to read.
>>
>usopp is best friend now

“Man, I feel sorry for Usopp...” you sigh. You bet he’d love to see and meet a real, live angel. His crew are probably okay people too, you can’t imagine him letting regular psycho pirates on board. “Hey, Sogeking, want a picture with the angel?”

You can’t see his face behind all the bandages and goggles, but the way he perks up is obvious. “Well, if you’re going to take photos anyway...”

“Sure, sure, go ahead!” You motion him away, smiling sweetly even though he can’t see it behind your collar. Sogeking doesn’t have a bounty, and you’re not sure if he’s actually a pirate... but he’s pretty chummy with the Strawhats (and presumably Usopp), so there’s a good possibility. If you can get a good shot of him just in case, that’d be perfect.

Plus, you know, Usopp might like a picture of his buddy and a real, not-actually-divine-but-still angel.

While Strawhat (and Chopper!) are in raptures over the taste of the fruit juice, Sogeking gets the angel lady’s attention, pointing over at you.

“Oh, a picture! That sounds good!” Score! “Could I have a copy? I’ve never met Blue Sea travellers before.”

“I can’t really print them out here,” you admit, adjusting the camera settings for the best light, “but if anyone has a visual Den Den or another camera, I’m sure it could be arranged?”

Sogeking nods eagerly, along with Chopper. Strawhat’s too busy fetching more fruit, while the rest of the crew approach.

“There’s a Vision Dial at home we can use,” angel lady happily suggests as you start taking photos. You have no idea what a Vision Dial is (except that it apparently takes pictures), but she’s apparently so naive that she’s inviting pirates into her home. Presumably she doesn’t KNOW they’e pirates, but still...

Maaaan, this is another person you’re going to have to add to the ‘look after’ list along with Chopper and possibly Sogeking, isn’t it?

“Hey, take pictures of us, too!”

... Thank you, Witch Thief. For FALLING INTO YOUR CUNNING TRAP, OHOHOHOHOHO~!

While Conis introduces herself, you happily agree to take more bount- uh, souvenir photos of pirate trash, for printing back on the ground.

(Acquired good photos of all the Strawhats you know of! Plus the Mysterious Sniper King. And Chopper. Lots of pictures of Chopper...)

Suckers.

Zolo interrupts your internal cackling. “Hey, something’s coming from the sea!”

“Ah, it’s my dad,” Conis says, as though a guy riding some kind of weird sea-bike thing is totally normal. Which, to be fair, it might be up here,

You promptly take pictures of it.

>I’ve had it recommended to me, but then I look at the wordcount and nope myself away.
Probably the best choice. It's fun for a while, but it doesn't take long for the constant braggadocio to start grating, for the story to lose focus, and for the growing chapter length to gradually sap all will to keep reading. Sooner or later, it stops being an entertaining read and becomes a chore.

Oops, sorry, I already called for a Chopper at the deciding vote and wrote it. I’ll try to mention when I call in future.
Also, the author’s plan is indeed batshit.

>doctor cutie

While Conis’ dad - Pajaya - comes ashore via smashing himself into a tree, and introduces himself, you ever-so-casually make your way over to Chopper.

You’re still not sure whether he’s actually some kind of prodigy doctor, or just gets called that because he knows a little first-aid, but he’s a civilian child, which means he’s under your protection. And when the time times, as it inevitably does with you, that some dumbass picks a fight, you’re going to be letting the pirates handle it while you actually look after the innocent here.

Plus, excellent excuse to pick him up again.

“So, why are you with the Strawhats?” That’s right - you too can inveigle your way into his fuzzy heart!

“Oh - well...” He looks a little embarrassed, like he doesn’t want to answer. “Back in - it doesn’t really matter, but - they’re really nice!”

....... That explains nothing.... but he’s still cute,

“I see,” you say. You don’t. It certainly looks like the poor thing’s all Stockholmed up, though. You wonder where the larger mink is. Guarding the ship, perhaps?

The two of you look back over the sea, where Strawhat has someone talked Pajaya into trying out his ‘Waver’. You manage not to whisper ‘fall, drown, fall, drown,’ under your breath, because... you’re a pirate now.

You really need some damn sugar.

Taking advantage of the distraction, you wander off towards the bizarre sky forest, as if looking to explore.

It’s a little easier to breathe, here, with all the trees (and how are there even trees UP here? The hell?) and you amble a good distance, taking a pictures just in case anyone gets suspicious, before deciding you’ve wandered far enough.

Ducking behind a tree, you pull Mr Speedy out. He fixes you with a tired glare, wriggling impatiently, and you poop him down on a branch. “Just wanna check if we can call anyone from here,” you promise, while he eyes a particularly succulent-looking leaf.

>Princess Notflashwoman: a mysterious royal of a far off kingdom, honorary member of the kuja pirates, considered the most beautiful woman alive by most of the male cast, much to Flashman's shame and Smoker's amusement (and Tashigi's conflicted feelings on the matter)

There's a subtle difference.
Normally deadpool is just somewhat aware of the fourth wall and sometimes makes silly comments about it.
He doesn't generally tell the reader to go fuck themselves.
When bad things happen to Deadpool and he's genuinely upset or furious he doesn't address the audience.
He thinks "wow I'm just like a comic book character." He doesn't have concrete proof though.
>>
>>3469612
Speaking of the Shandians, I'm hoping Flashman can swipe a pair of those skates and a bazooka. The skates can be used ob regular water and can be included in the weaponized seastone boots design when we can make them, and the bazooka is a good ranged addition to our armory, which is very welcome since we really only have Pistol-chan and I guess the meteor hammer sort of. Having a new gun type weapon would be a fresh change of pace.
>>
>>3469650

Do we want to use dials? It kind of feels like cheating when no one else outside of Skypiea uses them, but maybe that’s just me. Or I guess we could just get rid of them after we leave.
>>
>>3469886
Do they work outside of Skypiea?
>>
>>3469931
As long as they don't use literal clouds(milky Dial, Eisen Dial) they should work fine.
>>3469886
They kind of fit in our fighting style, which kinda looks like using every weapon we can possibly think of. So using them and mastering sky warfare could be something nice and unique-ish
>>
>>3469886
The only logical option now is to upgrade our babies with Dials. Turn Cut-chan into Red Queen, attach impact dials onto Meteor-sama, Jet dials on Ka-tan and become Jetstream Flashman. Imagine the bricks that will be shat on our return.
>>
>>3469931
Ussop used them extensively to try and beat Luffy in Water 7.
>>
>>3470039
Still one of the best fights in One Piece

It takes a lot to make it actually look like Usopp might actually beat Luffy and make him seem like the better person.
>>
>>3469959
I guess. I don’t know, something about relying on weird magical shell technology instead of good old steel and skill doesn’t sit right with me, I suppose. Don’t really mind using them while we’re up in Skypiea, where everyone’s got them, but using them on the seas just feels cheap to me. I remember Usopp using them, but I mean his weapon of choice is a slingshot, he probably needs the added effectiveness.

In a world full of giants, physically supwrior fishmen, elementals, etc I'm not really sure how adding dials to our toolkit is cheating. I'm not trying to insult you or anything, it just seems like a weird way to look at it.

We don't need Bazooka, we can throw cannonballs.
Skates would be useful, especially sea stone ones, but they look silly in my opinion.
Reject Dial would be crazy useful in many various situations, Impact would be good too if
he wouldn't want to part with reject.
>>3470025
>upgrade our babies with Dials
Thats a big 'no' from me, they are fine as they are. You want a dial weapon, get a new one.
Like that Heat Javelin the bird rider uses, we can yoink that and ask Gan to teach us the way of the lance when we meet him.

You know clacker two balls two strings one ring imagine if the balls where reject or impact dials with razor wire of seastone metal

When has that ever stopped Flashman before? Besides we can probably make them look sleeker when we incorporate them into the seastone boots later.

As for the bazooka, we don't NEED it, but technically we don't NEED half the weapons we have. It's a cool weapon, it has high firepower, it would be a second firearm to our collection, it helps hit home that Flashman is a living armory, etc.

Sorry to hear that BP, hope it turns around. I don't know if it'll make you feel any better, but I think you're doing great. Really making me relive my childhood with your quest. Flashman actually feels like someone straight from One Piece.

Anywho, is it just me or does anyone else get tone whiplash from Oda and his backstories? Like, Luffy isnt too bad, and having hardship is pretty much a must for Shounen but some of them feel needlessly mean. Like I just finished Thriller Bark, I originally stopped at Long Island. What gets me the most is fucking Zoro. Like, "Oops, guess your childhood Sword Prodigy friend made a super important promise and broke her neck the next day!" *Sad trombone*

I’m feeling mostly better (after spending most of today and yesterday sleeping, my immune system is so great), but I’ve decided it would be a better use of time to actually read the damn manga so I can figure out what’s going on.

Up to 246 now, so by tomorrow I SHOULD have a good enough grasp on what the hell is going on in Skypiea to plan things out more precisely.

Sorry again for lack of updates, rest assured I’m not thrilled with it either. Will DEFINITELY update tomorrow, otherwise I’ll chop off my magnificent lumberjack beard with my magnificent lumberjack axe.

“Getting taken by the Strawhats while undercover, and ending up in an island in the Sky that floats around on a cloud? Plus side, I got pictures of all of them, so the people at the bounty department can't complain I'm not doing my job!” See? Totally not your fault! Aaaand you’ve turned it into a plus, too!

Sure, it’s not exactly a capture of them, but still!

“Oh, I see,” Tashigi says, Mr Speedy’s face turningly worryingly pleasant. “So You didn’t get drunk, befriend a pirate, shoot someone, and wander off with your new friend?”

“........ Um.”

“Hmm?”

You swallow. “Ahahaha... funny story...!”

“Hmmmmmm...?”

“I... did I mention I’m in the sky? Like - on a Sky Island? Pretty cool, huh?”

You’re pretty sure she growls. “That’s the worst deflection I’ve ever heard! Flashman, I - YES, I’m mildly interested in the fact you’re apprently in the sky - and believe me, I’ll want a full explanation for that one - but you didn’t answer your Den Den for nearly two days!”

Wow... apparently you were reeeeally drunk...

“We didn’t know what was going on! Or who the pirate was that’s you left with! The bartender didn’t have a clue! Do you even realize how worried we were?! How Cap- Commodore Smoker was?!”

>o shit son

You bite your lip hard as it suddenly strikes you that everyone has probably, y’know, thought you were dead. Like... really dead. Totally dead. Via pirates. In pirate town. On sort-of pirate island.

Oops.

“Um. I’m really sorry? How is everyone?”

Tashigi releases a deep sigh, fury dimming slightly. “Not great, thanks to SOMEONE vanishing on us. The Commodore arrived at a Mocktown this morning and... well.”

“It’s a pirate town, and he wasn’t in the best of moods?”

“That’s an accurate summation, yes,” she answers dryly. “Mocktown is - well, it WAS flammable.” You suspect there’s not much flammable material left in town, now. Or many pirates. “It didn’t help that Bellamy the Hyena and his crew were assassinated yesterday evening.”

You can’t help but raise an eyebrow at that. “Thursday?”

“Judging by the lack of heads on those with bounties, we suspect so. No doubt she left the island as quickly as possible afterwards, though - it’s not like bounty hunters are popular there.”

So Thursday is likely off on her merry way, to collect the bounties and probably chase that doctor. Good luck to her? Maybe? You’re still not entirely sure how you feel about her. Why is everything so damn complicated these days?

“But everyone’s fine?”

“Concerned or furious, but fine,” Tashigi corrects. “Smoker was - less than happy.” Yeah, you can imagine. “He didn’t let anyone on the ship know you were missing, though. We’ve all been been busy clearing out Mocktown.”

“With fire.”

“With justice! ... And some fire. A little.”

Uh-huh.

“A few injuries for us, but nothing much,” Tashigi continues. Then, delightedly, “And I’m out of that disguise! No more stubble!”

“Awww, but it suited you!”

“... Seeing as you can apparently make calls now, I’ll leave it to you to tell the Commodore you’re okay, shall I?”

>>3475827
>>3475828
WE don't hate Nami and Sanji any more than we hate all pirate scum, but they definitely have cause to seriously hate us.

>Nami
We caught her mid theft and then locked her up. She'll automatically hate us thanks to that massive blow to her pride.

She'll probably also dislike her witch thief nickname.

>Sanji
We held a woman hostage (a cardinal sin in his book) + that woman was his beloved Nami.

We got him locked up and embarrassed him infront of Zoro.

And last, but not least, we saddled him with the name 'Cheapshot'
>>
>>3475822
>I think I have to confront her.
>>3475828
Honestly I don't know if we can honestly say we'll *never* forgive Nami.
Trying to steal our shit was a terrible move from her but Flashy doesn't seem to be the grudge holding type.
If he sees that the Strawhats are good people despite their flaws he might have second thoughts.
>>
>>3475842
I mean, we probably dislike Nami and Sanji and Zoro a little bit more than the others, what with the whole pickpocketing, ball-kicking, hostage-taking that happened...
>>
>>3475828
You’re a Worthy Rival (and he kind of maybe possibly feels you have a point about the whole hostage-taking stuff, even if he felt it was necessary at the time).

The dick-kick sure didn’t endear you to him at the time, but you kind of won his respect (in skill/honour/tactics) past that incident. Zoro’s thought process is strange and weirdly casual.
>>
>>3475822
>I’m going to carry on as normal, and see what’s happens.

If and when the time comes I'm waiting for Flashy to learn of the BUSTER CALL and for him to confront what his Justice means. Robin aught to be a good segue into that process, so lets she what she does.
>>
>>3475842
>Sanji
You say that he'd be embarrassed but Sanji wasn't the guy who got absolutely obliterated twice by a cameraman.
>>
>>3475840

Nah Sanji's going to have probably the biggest hate for us out of all the Strawhat's because
>Flashman is Woman hostage taking scum
>Cheapshot Sanji will follow him forever

Dunking over Zoro isn't going to erase those grievances, not by a long shot.

Also yeah showing him up infront of Zoro is small fry compared the his first two complaints about us, but its still a complaint.

“I think I have to confront her,” you say bluntly.

Silence. But Mr Speedy stares at you intently.

“Tashigi?”

“I think that’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard you say.”

“Thanks.”

“Including the tic thing.”

“To be fair, I was just distracting her...”

“And that’s the only reason I didn’t commit seppuku right there. But if I can’t rely on your brains... I guess I have to rely on your luck.”

“I’m a decently lucky guy, I guess,” you admit. “If I die, tell Smoboss I died doing something really badass.”

“And not that you drunkenly kidnapped by pirates and then blew your cover like an idiot?”

“... I’m going to hang up now.”

“Good luck, you absolute moron.” She sounds despondent.

“Not necessary, Lieutenant Junior Grade!”

You emerge from the trees onto the cloudy-grained beach, to find the Witch Thief is happily at sea on the... waver, was it? And everyone else is happily crowded around Conis.

Strawhat gleefully waves at you as you approach the group. “Hey, Art-Guy! We’re going to Conis’ house! Let’s go!”

How nice of them to wait for you. Almost like they’re not CRIMINAL SCUM.

Which they are.

Nico Robin smiles pleasantly at you as the group starts moving off, in the direction of what must be the local housing.

You give a quick head-tilt to the back of the group, casual as you can, and Nico Robin’s smile widens in exchange. She still slows herself to end up walking beside you, though, the pair of you dropping back behind the others. It’s not out of the range of loud talking, but lowered voices should be fine, especially with the chattering going on ahead.

“What pleasant weather up here,” Nico comments, still smiling pleasantly. She doesn’t bother to hide the look in her eyes, though. They’re the sort of eyes you see on Klaus just before he... does something Klaus-like. Violently, and all over you.

"It’s indeed beautiful weather... for eavesdropping." You're so suave and subtle.

Robin arches an eyebrow at you. Likely only one - but the other is covered by a swathe of bandage- supported gauze that covers most of the upper and mid right of her face, from forehead down to cheekbone. Red skin and healing blisters peeking out from the sides tell you what kind of injuries she received - likely courtesy of Firefist, while she was working with Crocodile.

"Eavesdropping? Now, who would go around doing a thing like that, Mr... My apologies, I seem to have forgotten your name. I've heard so many."

You smile back at her. "People's names are so unimportant. It's really their intentions that matter. Why don't you tell me yours?"

Nico's emotions and face register a mild amusement, but she feels more like distrust-wariness-watchfulness-tiredness. A sudden extra weight on your arm calls your gaze go where a new hand - hers - grows out of your sleeve, fingers within casual reach of Ka-tan, should you go to draw her.

You take it for the warning it likely is.

"My intentions? Why, Mr Flashman - or Ensign Flashman, should I say?" You don't correct her on your rank. "Shouldn't I, a member of the Strawhat crew, be asking YOU that?"

So that confirms she's a member, and not a current tagalong, like you and Sogeking. "That makes sense. After all, with your history, I guess your own intentions are obvious - take what you can get, then stab them in the back. Right?" You keep smiling at her.

Nico laughs, happily. "What an interesting idea! And you, Mr Flashman - you'll be stabbing them in the front, perhaps? Or just shooting from the most convenient angle?"

>Does it matter? As long as they're corpses in the end, it's all good.

"And others value their duty more."

Her visible eye narrows, all the more obvious when she's still. Friggin'. Smiling. "A Marine who actually pays more than lip-service to duty? What a rare prize?"

"I work on a ship full of them, so not really."

"But no shipmates here. Quite alone, in fact."

You cede the point with a graceless shrug. "So I'm at your mercy. Do you have any?"

"Practicality only," Nico murmurs. Then, a little louder, "But for now, there s nothing particular I need or want from you, Mr Flashman - beyond your not taking action against any of us, of course. Apart from that... let's leave things at a pause, shall we? It's always best to have times to consider these things."

We could risk it and attempt a quick draw on Detective Pistol-chan.
But I personally don't want to start the Strawhat murder spree.
>>

It's not really blackmail anon. The most she can do is reveal our identity to the Strawhats, and as soon as we regroup with the Marines, it's not going to matter.

Honestly if we don't try to arrest the Strawhats or sabtoage their mission then I think she'll leave us pretty much alone. And at the moment we're too good of an asset for her to just out us to the others and have them chuck us in the brig / beat us up.

Worse she can do is use us to draw Enel aggro, but then again Flashman would have probably done that anyway.
>>
>curse you, nico roooooobiiiiiiin

"Then we'll finish this conversation some other time." With that blunt response, you speed up to press yourself back into the Strawhats, who appear to have little concept of personal space.

Not that you're overly concerned with it yourself, admittedly... but that's with your own crew. Still.

So far it's been pretty reasonable how it's all been handled with regards to the Strawhats.

None of it actually feels like an asspull yet, possibly baring Garp outright impairing Smokers attempt to capture the Strawhats in Alabasta.

The only victory we have vs the straw hats is that we have 2 of zoros swords. and in return they have the sand logia

Firefist was released by his gramps

Zoro getting released was us getting outplayed that i dont mind.

guess we'll see how things turn out in the sky islands. I just hope Robin can't fuck us over too badly
>>
>>3476496
>Firefist was released by his gramps
Tbf he's now a Warlord aka a dog of the marines. I'm counting that as a moral victory if nothing else

>Ask him about the shells you found out
>Ask who is in charge here
>>
>>3476483
Also,
>Ask about sky candy
>>
>>3476496
None of that is plot armour tho.

We arrested Sanji, Nami and Zoro in Logue town and the only reason they're free was because Dragon freed them.

Garp only showed up because we asked Smoker to contact him as back up. And OOC we know that Garp loves both of his grandsons and Ace is willing to do anything to save his little Brother. So becoming a Warlord is pretty reasonable.

Everytime we've clashed with the strawhats we've won. We've just had bad luck that Luffy is just really well connected to people way out of our league.
>>
>>3476501
Yeah, villains have had their plot armour confiscated too.
And as a result they all keep fucking dying.
>>
The Strawhats have actually never won a single encounter against us, they keep getting rescued. In the Strawhats Negaverse we are the terrifying recurring antagonist
>>
>>3476504
>Robin actually getting the better of us is the first time that the theoretical show audience get to see us actually be outplayed
I like imagining that our character is mostly a mystery still at this point to the theoretical audience and they haven't seen us being an idiot yet or it's portrayed in a way that makes it seem like we're actually outplaying everyone.
>>
>>3476483

>>3476490
This

>>3476495
Smoker rolled like a 96 against Ace, and that meant he kicked Ace's ass hard enough that Garp had to step in to prevent Ace getting arrested on the spot.

Garp legitimately rolled super low on all his other rolls though, which is fitting since he was up against both his grandsons.
>>
>>3476494
To be fair, Smoboss tends to capture where he CAN - it's only when it becomes too unreasonable and a risk to his men/civilians, or the pirate will likely escape that he goes for a kill. Kidd refused to surrender, wouldn't go down, and had a dangerous enough Devil Fruit that if he made it up on deck, he'd be able to kill a lot of Marines. Currently Smoker's tearing through Mocktown because there's just too MANY pirates to arrest. If they surrender, good, if they don't, fuck 'em.

>>3476495
Garp kept getting absolutely godawful rolls (and in one case Smoker's was shit too). Seeing as he's actually meant to be competent, the answer us that he was clearly pulling shit deliberately instead.

If the Strawhats got captured he wouldn't let them go, but as for cutting Luffy some slack early on, yes. He actually wouldn't have let Ace go, except canonically Ace already turned down the Shichibukai position, so they clearly wanted him for it, and it becomes an even bigger score when he's a Whitebeard pirate AND it means they get Crocodile neatly taken care of.

So yes, if you manage to capture Luffy, Garp's not going to let him go, although he won't be thrilled about it.

Luffy does have some plot armour because he's a D (all the D's do, except when it's one D against another). The rest of the Strawhats don't. Just think it as though most people are rolling a single d100, but D's, like you, are rolling 3d100 and picking the best roll.

Oh, and Chopper has plot armour because he's cute. This is a very important rule.
>>
>>3476512
Wait
So are Ace, Garp and Luffy also rolling 3d100s now?
Cool
>>
>>3476514
Oh and Teach too I guess.
>>
>>3476512
Chopper deserves his plot armor, cuteness is a natural force of great magnitude
>>
>>3476514
And Blackbeard, yes. I'm not actually rolling 3d100s for them, but it's a sort of theoretical 'if there's a reasonable chance of them passing it, then they probably will due to sheer D bullshit'. This didn't apply in Garp+Fireplace v Blackbeard, because they were all D's.

>>3476518
And also because if anything happened to Chopper, I would kill everyone in the quest and then myself.
>>
>>3476512
>all Ds do 3d100

It's time for some retcon rolls on the ace fight then

(Assuming he's dead, please don't be dead ace, don't let our greatest win be against a jobber. )
>>
>>3476520
Read a theory that BB is actually a fake D, as he is the only D shown to not smile in the face of death, the idea is that he heard the stories of D's defying fate beyond all reason and wanted to do that, so he changed his name
>>
>>3476520
Do I want to know what happened in that battle?
>>
>>3476508
I was thinking they've been showing glimpses of his silliness and setting Flashman up as more of a sympathetic antagonist. He acts like an idiot but is super confident and a cool longterm recurring anti-hero. He's mostly a "bad guy" who ends up working with the main characters from time to time and ends up being endeared to the audience.

It will just make Flashman's dramatic death scene that much sadder when it happens.
>>
>>3476525
You know, he's the son of the Pirate King.
and that makes him the
PIRATE PRINCE OF ALL JOBBERS
>>
>>3476520
>if anything happened to Chopper, I would kill everyone in the quest and then myself.
Based and cutepilled.
>>
>>3476532
Don't worry the dramatic death scene will be an exploding boat and we'll survive because that has literally never fucking killed anyone I swear.
>>
So for questions,

>General Sky Island stuff
>who's in chaaaaaarge
>pretty shells
>CANDY

I'm heading to bed, updates tomorrow. Thank for playing, and damn, I'd wanna watch this from the Strawhat's perspective of the show. Flashy sure is terrifying.

>>3476532
nooooooooooooooooo

>>3476541
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
>>
>>3476545
>>General Sky Island stuff

>>
>>3476532
Sympathetic will be in full blast if we do end up following Chopper to the sacrificial area (>>3471041) and end up having to protect him from one of Enel's guys. In canon, Gan Fall got fucked trying to protect Chopper. Flashman'll be a fan favorite in his place, I guarantee it.

>>3476541
Also this is One Piece where Pell survived a fucking bomb exploding approximately 2cm away from him.
>>
>>3476527
It makes a lot of sense to me. Part of the Will of D is the fact you smile in the face of death, if not welcoming it then atleast at peace with it. Blackbeard was TERRIFIED of Whitebeard when the most aptly named of all pirates beat his fat ass.
>>
>>3476532
Flashman is a deuteragonist from Strawhats perspective. He's definitely a recurring thorn in their side and terrifyingly competant (from their point of view). If this was actual One Piece he'd be a fan favourite with a special dramatic death ost who'd show up next season in a surprise revival to save someone and repay a debt before promising to catch them again.
>>
A realisation. BPQM mentioned that Klaus's technique is technically, and unintentionally, similar to armament haki.
Does this mean that Flashman might avtually be able to inadvertently wound Enel?
>>
>>3476607
In theory, yeah. Actually, we might have a decent chance to kill his ass. He's an overconfident fool who's never encountered anyone who can touch him. He'd totally let us hit him, expecting our weapon to just pass through him.

And it would. Just not how he would be hoping.
>>
>>3476607
Zoro's face will be hilarious. Sanji's sides will leave orbit. Usopp believes the end is nigh.

Why would Ussop be afraid, it just shows how awesome his friend Arthur is. What a cool guy that Arthur.

>>3476596
If this were the series and Flashman was actually a recurring character he would end up with one of the following routes

>enemy that grows parallel to the heroes
Flashman's marine crew continues to grow parallel to the Strawhats. Throughout the series Flashman gets stronger and gets promoted higher until he becomes a rear admiral to Luffy's yonko status

>Dramatic death to empower the rest of the cast
Flashman is developed and given tons of development to truly make him a fan favorite, having him constantly clash and interact them as they develop a grudging respect. Then pay off on it by finally ending him in a heartfelt death that reverberates through the setting and known vharacters. Either through a grand execution ala Ace due to his family line being revealed, ironically sacrificing himself to save 1 or multiple strawhats, or in a final fight between him and either one or all the Strawhats with no holds barred.

>Admiral Kuzan/Vegeta/Shadow the hedgehog/that one magus guy from Chrono Trigger

Either Flashman's sense of Justice clashes more and more with the Justice of the marine brass, a slowing sense of sympathy bring developed for the protags, or a growing bitterness towards certain circumstances finally have him grow disillusioned with trying to work in the system. He either quits and goes off by himself or eventually joins the Strawhats in a surprise twist that leaves most of the crew suspicious and against Flashman's presence on the ship. If if he does join then the tension grows between him and the outrage members of the crew until they fight together on enough adventures to eventually ease them all into the idea

And those are the different ways Flashman as an actual OP character could have been used. Well that or

>One and done interesting side character who ends up being expanded on more either through chapter cover art or waaaaaaaaaaaaay later in the story
>>
>>3476687
>that one magus guy from Chrono Trigger
You mean
Magus.
>>
>Meanwhile, in an alternate time line:

"Oh princess Flashman~"
"Oh please no."
"You lied to me."
"...I *want* to deny that, but yeah, I kind of have been leading you on; look, I just didn't know how to break it to yo--"
"You dirty boy~"
>Flashman then spontaneously developed Soru and Geppo, and proceeded to "NOPE" the fuck out of there.
>>
>>3476607
.... oops. It actually IS armament, not that I knew it at the time. Metal-cutting at lower levels isn't, but at higher level is basically a handwavey-sort-of pushing your energy into your sword to strengthen/sharpen your own. Klaus' particular style also had a little Observation to it to best 'read' where and how to slice, not that Flashy's aware enough to notice that yet.

So yeah, he could MAYBE hurt Enel. Thanks, Klaus?

>>3476596
>>3476687
You guys are actually kind of setting Flashy up to be a dramatic counterpoint to the Celestial Dragons. By recruiting a Mermaid and setting the beginning of the duck recruitment, you guys have kicked off some fun stuff!

Another thought I had, although I doubt anything will come of it, is that the Donquixote in Mariejois is actually an okay guy. If he knew about Flashy, and had the authority to, could he un-disown Flashy back into the family? Would he want to? Maybe fodder for a future non-canon thread/interlude.
>>
>>3477413
>Donquixote in Mariejois is actually an okay guy.
Yeah post his experience in Fisherman Island he's one of the nicest around.

Pre-getting captured I'd imagine he'd be just as a jerk as the rest, but then again the show never gave concrete dates for when he was captured so I suppose you can jiggle the timeline around so he's already gone there and come back by the time he meets Flashy...

Honestly I think he would be open to Flashy coming back into the family, so long as he doesnt find out Flashy is a D.
