Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Kai! With the arrival of Sachie and Zarid, Izzy and Gohan head off to meet with Lime on an expidition to a pyramid, only to find out that an ancient curse has been activated inside it, leading to an attack by mummys and monsters! Izzy manages to confront the Pharaoh responsible for the curse, and with Gohan’s help manages to free the boy he took control of and stop the mummy’s pyramid scheme! But the mystery surrounding it deepens as the demonic creature serving the Pharaoh bears a striking resemblance to a cybernetic creature Peppa faced. Can you find out the scheme behind such monsters? Good luck, Peppa! Good luck, Izzy! Goood luck, Gohan!

“That is exceptionally strange.” Pantea comments. “I haven’t read much literature on such a thing being on Earth...”

Videl looks out one of the windows on the ship as you start to approach the planet. “You think there may be more like them out there?”

“Possibly.” You look over the picture you made, sketching in any small adjustments your memory recalls. “The fact that we had such a huge one on Earth, the fact that it mentioned ‘children’ especially, leads me to believe there are more out there, undergoing... whatever this was.” You tap on the picture.

“I’ll definitely keep an eye out.” your mother adds. “Okay, we’ll be heading down. Should reach the planet in a few minutes.”

>A. You’ve been to Imecka before, mom, what’s it like?

Didn't he bitch about the Trip to Konpei's being too short or some shit? Shouldn't he be fucking thrilled for all this?
>>
>>3480320
The Journey to Konpei's could've been great if we had the chance to explore new lands or meet new people, just like the early Dragon Ball hunts. Hell, even Piccolo Jr. was coming with us, who was a really new addition to the Z Fighters, so it would have been interesting to see him react to the adventures that they went on for like 6 months.

We can't see new things in a spaceship unless we get raided by pirates or wander into an asteroid field that is actually space whales, and the characters don't change due to their environment because the environment is an unchanging spaceship. And wouldn't Peppa be antsy to get out on the planet and stretch her legs due to being a little hyper monkey?
>>

>"Silence is a valid option."

You really don't do yourself any favors.

If Peppa is antsy, then she'll be talking with her friends as a result or something. Is that good enough? Is your butt less mad now?

You place the paper down. “You’ve been to Imecka before, mom, what’s it like?”

“Well... heh, feels so long ago now. It’s where I met the Ginyus after being separated from everyone by Churai.” Maple takes a moment to look back at you, giving you a proud smile. “They were stuck on the planet just like I was, with their leader beaten and taken in by...” Her eyes look down. “...By Ledgic.”

Pantea, Raditz, and Videl all noticeable look away from her. You though, are not going to just ignore this. “He was different when you first met him, right? What changed, exactly?”

“He seemed to merely take the job because of the chance to take on strong fighters. He seemed... almost bored with it. I tried to get him to take on some new challenges for himself... and it ended up leading him to Babidi.” Maple lets out a low sigh.

“He’s responsible for his own decisions.” Raditz states bluntly. “That he ended up with Babidi and Towa, those were his choices.”

Mom nods. “I know.”

To try and turn the topic away from making your mom feel worse about what’s happened, you look over to your uncle. “Well... has any of your work for the Galactic Patrol brought you here before?”

Raditz rubs his chin. “Some. Rowdy mobsters trying to peddle black market goods, last I checked there was something about a coup that a few pirates tried to get involved in.”

“A coup?” Videl repeats, turning her head back to him. “What’s the story there?”

“The usual. Leaders running out of good will among the populace over ridiculous and incompetent leadership and rampant corruption.” he states. “Some pirates ended up getting involved in order to snatch up weapons and ships. Supposedly has started to die down.”

Mmh. Well, going to need to keep that in mind. Videl returns to looking out the window as you pass through the atmosphere. Giru floats over to her, beeping softly. You walk over as well. “So... this starting to bring back any memories, Giru?”

“Giru, Giru. Memory fragments of planet Imecka still unclear, but recovery improving.” The ship lands, the robot looking over the desert landscape. “Potential path probabilities being calculated!”

Mom and Pantea get up from their seats, most everyone starting to head out. 19 looks over to 16‘s head. “Do you wish for one of us to stay here and watch over the ship with you?”

“I do not require any assistance.”

>A. One of us probably should stay behind, just in case

“We’ll leave that to you then, 16. If anything comes up you can contact us. Best of luck!” you tell the robot head cheerfully. He seems to roll his eyes at you, but makes no further comment. Once outside, you and everyone else start looking around the area. You can sense a large number of people some distance away... ah, looks like the main city. Further out you don’t get much else, what seem to be some small animals and the like scurrying around. Around... this mostly featureless desert. “...Say, um, mom, where exactly will we be heading?”

“Hassan apparently landed around this area when he left Brench.” she responds, looking around. “Which means this is the area where Giru landed as well. And, more importantly, it’s probably where Babidi’s minion was laid to rest.”

“So... what, we start combing through the desert?” Videl questions. “Because it’s gonna take a really big comb...”

“No, no. We’ve got something better.” Pantea tells her, pulling out a Scouter. “I’ve been fiddling around with this for a bit, and we should be able to pick up on any unusual mechanical structures in the sand.”

“Well, that should help things along... say, can you somehow make that able to detect spiciness? Hot places tend to have hot dishes.” you comment to her cheekily.

Pantea laughs. “Peppa, come on.”

Moving forward, you keep an eye on the city. “...So this whole planet a desert or something? Or just the main area? Because it looked pretty sandy from orbit, but there were still plenty of clouds and the like.”

“There are some small bodies of water around, but most of it is underground.” mom states. “Very little vegetation except when it starts to rain. Looked into this planet again a couple times over the years. Deserts tend to have brief periods of blooming, after all.”

Pantea stops everyone. “I’m detecting... three strange objects ahead of us. One of them seems larger than the others. And I’m also...” She squints, fiddling with the Scouter. “...What in the world?”

“What?”

“...There’s a Dragon Ball up ahead.”

“What’s a Dragon Ball doing all the way out here?” Videl asks.

“...Careful, this could be a trap.” you tell everyone lowly. You look around the area. Basilea could be here.

“Not sensing anyone snooping around.” Raditz comments.

Hmm... wait. You’ve got an idea. Telepathically you explain to everyone that you’ll head underground to lay a trap of your own, while they move forward to check the metallic things Pantea’s Scouter picked up. You let them get a few feet ahead of you, and then form a Ki drill and start tunneling through the sand as you lower your Ki. You move forward, setting up some Ki mines in the ground.

As you tunnel through, though, you notice some strange things in the ground. Ki signatures. Faint... but present. Ki signatures that... begin to move. Move up towards the surface. They then stop. One seems to move in the path of one of your Ki mines. You’re close to where Pantea pointed the Dragon Ball out to be.

Carefully, you get a little closer to one of the Ki signatures, contacting your mother as you do so. ‘Ghost Pepper to Momma Bird, come in Momma Bird.’

‘Momma Bird here, go ahead Ghost Pepper, over.’

‘Subterranean Ki signatures detected, checking if everyone else can sense it too, and requesting permission to investigate, over.’

‘Sensing some clearly, and we believe we’ve found something... wait. Wait this looks like... aha! Videl has uncovered an individual with silver skin, body... strangely preserved. Permission granted to investigate, over.’

You reach the Ki signature you were detecting... and startle it as you drill towards it. A small, mechanical creature... one that looks much like the thing you faced on Brench. It tries to scurry away from the light coming from your Ki drill... and heads right into your Ki mine, detonating and causing an explosion that shoots up through the sand. ‘Momma Bird, hostile machine life forms are present! Over!’ The ground starts tremble as another hits one of your mines.

‘We’ve got more than that, Ghost Pepper!’

‘More than-?’ You don’t get a chance to finish as something starts to burst from the ground. You manage to avoid it, but whatever it is, it’s massive. Poking your head out from the sand, you see it... a monstrous, insectoid creature, like the nightmare mixture of a centipede and a tank. It starts to drip a silvery, slimy ooze from what you think is its mouth... ooze that splashes into the sand and stains it silver as well. Raditz manages to avoid it breaking through the surface, and even gets a lucky shot in with a Ki blast, forcing it back slightly.

“GIRU GIRU GIRU GIRU! DANGER! DANGER! NANOMACHINE INFECTED ORGANISM! AVOID CONTACT WITH NANOMACHINES AT ALL COSTS!”

“I’ll keep it occupied! You guys get that Dragon Ball!” You power up more, no longer suppressing your Ki, and then yell out, “RAIO-KEN!” You bring out your Power Pole and thwack at the monster, pushing it back. You then bring out your Ki drill once more and dig underground again, circling the monster with Ki mines to trap it in and keep it from digging back down. It tries just that, and is forced to the surface once more, with Raditz waiting for it.

“DOUBLE SUNDAY!” he yells out, blasting the mechanical beast with twin beams of yellow energy. The two of you then coordinate your strikes, you leading with the Power Pole and smacking its head to keep it away from your uncle as he delivers blow after blow on it, wearing it down.

You look back at everyone else, seeing Videl, Pantea, and 19 blasting away some of the smaller creatures that try to ambush them. Mom manages to get the Dragon Ball, a sphere with... black stars in it. You then get an idea. “Mom! Try blasting it with Lightning!”

“Okay! Hold it steady!” she requests, tossing the Dragon Ball to 19 and starting to charge up some Ki. You and your uncle both flip back, the mechanical monstrosity letting out a haunting metallic shriek as it tries to spray out a blast of nanomachine fluid. The two of you avoid it by jumping up and unleashing a barrage of Ki blasts. Mom finally finishes charging the attack. “Time for the big show! LIGHTNING FLASH SURPRISE: BONUS ROUND!”

She blasts the machine with electricity, shocking it with tremendous force, then managing to lift it into the air. Your mother then crosses her arms and a second jolt of Lightning, stronger than before, seems to engulf the machine. It falls to the ground, twitching for a moment... and then starts to move once more.

“That thing is STILL going?!” Pantea calls out in surprise and shock.

“Well, frying it with electricity isn’t working.” Raditz states. And... the damage you and your uncle inflicted seems to be repairing. “And... it’s regenerating. Fantastic! This is starting to get annoying.”

“The head.” 19 tells you all. “It seems to be producing the most nanomachines from the head section. Disable that as quickly as possible.”

Mom brings up her hands, keeping it from heading back underground with Telekinesis. You power up into Super Saiyan, forming a Ki drill once more and spinning it with tremendous force. “Then I’ll take out the head! HERE GOES!”

“I’ll back you up!” Videl shouts, bolting up next to you, powering up as well. She brings her fist back, flaming energy blazing around it. She starts to head down with you. “FALCON...!”

“SPIRAL...!”

“SKREEEE!” the mechanical monster shrieks out, spraying a blast of nanomachines your way. Videl’s forced back from it, unable to get in closer to land a solid blow.

“BRREEAAAAAAAKKKEEERRR!” But you press on through, bolting down at it, your drill tearing through the head and punching right down into the ground. Sparks and crackles and small explosions start in the area you drilled through, until finally the whole head section explodes, taking out most of the rest of the machine with it. You stand, giving everyone a thumb’s up... and notice that there’s something on your arm. Ow. Ow what is that? What is... agh, AGH. OW!

You fall to one knee, wincing. There’s this stinging sensation in your arm. Giru and mom bolt over immediately. “...Some of it got on you.” Maple states, holding your arm up. “Not a lot, but...”

“Nanomachine removal beginning!” Giru declares, using his tool. The greenish light soothes the stinging sensation, and eventually it disappears alltogether.

You bring your arm up. Good as new! “Thanks Gi-” ...wait. You look up. “Videl! Videl are you okay?”

She floats down. “Ow... something... something got my leg.” Giru flies over to her next, doing the same to her. Once she’s in the clear, she sighs in relief. “Okay, definitely going to need to be more careful around these things.

Looking over to the wreckage of the giant machine, you cross your arms. “Well. That was quite the trap. Betting Basilea had her hand in this.”

“How’d she get such a thing? Is it even native to this world?” Videl questions.

You pat Giru. “Thanks for the assist there, lil’ guy. Could’ve gotten pretty bad without your help.”

“Giru Giru! Glad to be of assistance!”

Crossing your arms, you then ask. “So... this jog any memories?”

“Giru, Giru...” he beeps lowly for a few seconds, then moves over to the unearthed corpse. You finally get a good look at it yourself. He does seem to be some kind of strange, almost fish-like alien with large lips. And skin... completely silver. But more than that, it seems sort of... dried out, almost... mummified.

“Hmm... well, we’ve got that done, I guess.” You look over to mom. “Should we get the Dragon Ball back to the Ship or something?”

She and 19 look it over. Three Stars, all black. Upon closer inspection, though, you notice that it’s got some slight differences from the Earth’s Dragon Balls. The color of it is slightly off, but it still seems to have a distinct, mystical glow to it. As you move closer, you see that it’s also marginally, very marginally, larger than the ones from Earth. “I believe we should do something to keep it safe.” 19 states. “I will do so.” She takes off, heading back to the ship.

“Hmm... something doesn’t feel right about this.” Pantea comments. “Sure this was a trap set for us, clearly, but... why leave an actual Dragon Ball as bait?”

“Maybe she wants us to find them.” Videl tells her. “And sets one so we’ll try to find the others. This wasn’t the one she had, right Peppa?”

“No, wrong number of stars.” you affirm. Glancing back at the remains of the mechanical monster, you then ask, “So... are there any weakness we should be thinking over for this kind of thing? Melting them, freezing them, frying them with electricity? Blunt force did work in the end, but it also nearly got me and Videl in the process. Giru’s tool is helpful but unless we can replicate it on a wider scale we’re gonna need to be extra careful around these things.”

“Nanomachines aren’t completely invulnerable. I was able to stun it, after all, but the issue was that these things can clearly self-repair using them.” Mom thinks for a moment. “Mmh... it’s like with the Big Gete Star, in a way. Unless we can get rid of control units for them, they will be able to keep recovering.”

Giru stops beeping. “...Memory fragment recovered!”

Good thread, Kato.

We need to have Giru print out those nanokilling beam gun parts so Bulma can reverse engineer them. I'd really like to mesh it into a ki attack, but I have no idea how that would work. Best case scenario is probably Maple figuring out how to clothes beam them.

Trying to make the repair device into a Ki blast isn't exactly something possible without very highly advanced magical skills. However, there may be other methods with dealing with the nanomachines. Keep your eyes open for them.

And okay, hit another snag but we should be good tonight. Sorry for the delay, we're back!

Giru beeps happily as he floats around you all. Once mom’s able to get him to calm down, the robot gets to explaining what memory fragment he’s recovered. Apparently... it’s the encounter he had with the individual you see before you. And it’s a bit more complicated than you initially assumed.

Giru had been continuing his mission of seeking out rare species, and the scuffle between Ledgic and Dabura had attracted his attention. He was found by the individual Zui-Zui, one of Babidi’s minions. However... the fight also attracted the attention of something else. One of the spider-snake machines lurking in the sand. To complicate matters further, Giru apparently does have a link to a memory file about them, but one that isn’t merely fragmented: it’s been permanently deleted.

“Did you delete it yourself, Giru, or did someone else delete it from you?” Pantea asks.

“Unable to discern! Giru, Giru. Familiarity with alien machines unknown. Fragmented data may still exist among memory banks, but main file has been deleted.”

Pantea adjusts her glasses. “And so the hydra of questions continues. Each answer leads to yet more mysteries about you, little guy.”

Videl looks over the remains of the broken mechanical monsters. “So, what about these? We just leave them out here in the desert, or what?”

“Locals may appreciate knowing that they’re gone, at least.” Raditz tells her. “And may have some information to go off of, since Ledgic and Dabura’s clash wasn’t exactly hard to spot.”

“All righty! Sounds like a plan!” you thrust your arm into the air. “Let’s head to town and search for clues!” You take a few steps forward, marching through the sand, but as you do, you look over the wreckage once more, then back at the silvery corpse they uncovered. “...What about these though? Should they be burried up again?”

Videl looks around, then gives a solemn nod. “Yeah. I’ll do it.”

“Let me get a sample of that big one first.” Pantea requests, flying over to it as Videl gets to work.

You walk along with mom and Raditz, Giru floating around you. “So... you’re definitely aware of those machines. You’ve got the tool needed to counteract them. But just having the one might still isn’t going to be enough if we’ve got more of these. What can you do to make more of them? And how long have you had information on those spider-snake things?”

“Giru, Giru... data unclear! Data on alien machines stretches back several years. Earliest record is from approximately... 8 years ago.” He floats closer to you. “Nanomachine removal tool mass production would require substantial input of material!”

“How substantial?”

“Approximately 30 tons of various components required.”

Frowning, you tell the robot, “You weigh less than a kilogram. What are you needing 30 tons for?”

“Specialized components need appropriate fuel sources for mass production! Available nanomachine assembly can not develop removal tool on a large scale without converting portions of own body mass into tool parts! Giru Giru.”

“Well, that’s off the table for a bit.” Raditz remarks.

Pantea and Videl rejoin you all as you head into town. You get an eerie vibe as you approach. There are people around, but the whole place seems rather... quiet. Unusually so. You do see some friendly faces walking the streets, but just as many seem to be hiding indoors. Videl is the first to remark upon this. “They look rather spooked. And not by us.”

Mom takes it upon herself to talk with one of the locals. “Hello there, we’re here trailing a lead on a suspicious alien presence that may have passed by recently. Might you be able to point us to some authorities to speak on the matter? It involves a number of mechanical creatures that we’ve seen near this city.”

“Ahh, so it was your group that got into that scuffle over there.” the alien resident comments, a short elderly fellow. “You’ll want Commanders Gale and Sheelia. They’re up in the Security Tower.” He points out a building closer to the center of the city that looks substantially newer than the more rustic ones on the outskirts, and even those around it. “They’ve been trying to get rid of that thing for months! Good on you, travelers, for helping us out like that.”

“Waaaait. Months? When exactly did it appear?” you question, tilting your head.

“Was about... mmh, 3 months ago now? It showed up almost out of nowhere, too.”

“Out of nowhere... sir, there aren’t things like it here, then?” Videl asks.

Raising a brow, he replies. “No, young miss. Giant robot death bugs are not common here.”

Slouching her shoulders, Videl clarifies, “I mean, in terms of wildlife, there’s nothing that reaches the size of that thing in the deserts?”

“Not even close! Few big ol’ lizards and the like, but nothin’s like that in the desert!” he assures.

“Interesting...” Pantea taps her finger on her chin. “So it’s definitely from off-world, but appeared only recently... how many days, specifically?”

He shrugs. “Eh, ‘bout 80 days was the first sighting of it, attacking some patrol cars chasing those would-be freedom fighters, decimated them both. Good riddance to the both of ‘em.”

..."Would-be” freedom fighters? Interesting terminology there. And fairly telling. “I... know we’re more or less just visitors here, but I’m getting the feeling people are a little on-edge. If you don’t mind my asking, what’s been happening here?”

“Some radical nutjobs trying to overthrow Don Kee again, clashing with his forces now that Ledgic’s gone.” The man snorts. “Can’t get much business done when every day might turn the city into another battleground.”

“You don’t seem very perplexed by it.” Videl remarks, narrowing her eyes.

“Feh, I’m old and I’ve still got my retirement money.” he replies, dismissively waving his hand, then turning around. “You’ll wanna get there before sundown to report in you stopped that thing.”

You notice mom rubbing her arm, looking away. You’re about to speak up when she instead starts to take to the air. “Well, we should be going then. Come on.”

Flying off, you arrive at the major building, mom and Raditz managing to clear your way through to meet with some higher ups. You’re brought to an office where a short pair of aliens, matching the rest of the Imeckans, are sipping coffee and going over reports on some datapads. A pink-skinned woman in a green and salmon jumpsuit (the uniforms of the security officers there) with red hair, and an even shorter dark-skinned man in a blue and black jumpsuit with crimson beard. “Yes yes, we’ll be with you in a moment.” The woman grumbles as you enter.

“Movement’s slowed in the Casino district. Could be trouble brewing.” the man comments aloud. Finally his attention turns to you. “All right what do you want? If it’s something about a parking permit I swear-” He stops as he sees your mother, tilting his head.

“No sir, we’re here to tell you about the giant alien machine that’s been pestering the outskirts of the city. It’s been slain.” mom tells him. “It won’t be bothering you any more.”

He squints at her. “...Right. Right. And... you folks were the ones who did it? Who are you exactly?”

“Raditz. Deputy Galactic Patrol.” your uncle replies, cutting your mom off before she can give her introduction. “The rest of my group are from planet Earth. We’re in pursuit of a suspicious individual who may be responsible for the machine appearing on your world.”

>A. What can you tell us about its attacks? Have there been any odd folks associated with it?
>B. The individual is a red-skinned, white haired horned alien named Basilea, do you have anything on an individual who matches that description?

Approaching them, you ask, “What can you tell us about its previous attacks, sir? And have there been any odd folks associated with it?”

He grabs his datapad again, looking through it for a moment. The woman looks up from hers and does a double-take when she sees your mom as well. The man looks up at you all. “Basically targeted anything that came close. Seemed to be most active when that wizard showed up and took Ledgic away, was going after all sorts of people, but part of that was the commotion that all caused. As for your second question, we have a number of suspicious individuals we’re keeping watch for. You’ll need to be a bit more specific.”

“Wait wait wait.” Videl holds up her hands. “Anything that came close? So it kept to one area or...?”

“A few different hunting grounds. Damned rebels have plotted them all out, kept luring our forces into traps there, but we’ve plotted most of them out. Seemed to really go after our patrol cars, but even our officers weren’t safe.” the woman tells you all.

“So, wait, who are these rebels you’re after?” Videl asks.

“Bunch of low-lifes who wanna topple Don Kee. Team up with mobsters and assassins and criminals all to try and bring him down. Lot of robberies on banks, attacks on vault cars and tax offices. Violent folks.”

Videl’s eyes narrow. “I... see.”

“Point is they’ve been using that thing to their advantage. Ain’t that right, Gale?”

The man nods. “Sheela here’s got some of the reports on it. Still, suspicious individuals? You’ll need to be specific.”

“Okay, then how about this. We’re looking for an alien female with red skin, white hair, large horns on her head and shoulders.” You sketch out a picture of her real quick. “Oh! And a tail, same color as her skin. Goes by the name Basilea. Do any of the suspicious individuals you have fit that description?”

He takes a moment to look at your sketch. “...Huh. Not bad, kid. Hrmn... we might not have a detailed file on someone like this, but the rebels do have some odd folks in their ranks.”

The woman looks down at her datapad again, then at your mom, silently. Okay. This is getting weird. You telepathically contact your mother, ‘Ghost Pepper to Momma Bird. Do these people know you? They’re giving you some funny looks. Over.’

‘Momma Bird here. It’s fine, Ghost Pepper. Probably have some records of me kinda... trying to rescue Captain Ginyu, is all. Over.’ She rubs the back of her neck.

Gale taps on his datapad a couple times. “Mmhmmm. Okay, you have saved us a lot of trouble. We may be able to make a major move against the rebels thanks to you lot. Just stay out of our hair amd we can leave you with the info you want...” He turns the datapad over, revealing a... rather crude picture of your mother on a wanted poster. “And drop all charges against you, Maple Son-Mahogany.”

You clench your fists and grit your teeth, but give an understanding nod. “Basilea is what we’re after here, we’ll be out of your hair and leave as soon as you wish, so long as we get the information we need on her.”

Videl looks over to you, saddened. “Peppa-”

“Wait, what’d she do wrong?” Pantea questions.

“I guess I did still break Captain Ginyu out of your prison. I am sorry that I broke your world’s laws, even if it was to help someone else.” mom admits.

The two officers frown at her. “That, and you convinced Ledgic to abandon his job for years. Your little incident here incited a lot of crap we had to deal with. Of course then the wizard came and kidnapped Ledgic, but we that one isn’t on you, at least.”

Mom winces. “I understand.”

“Good. You keep to yourself, and the charges will be dropped.” Gale tells her.

Videl crosses her arms. “This isn’t right.”

“Even if we disagree with them, we have no need to start any conflict between us.” Raditz reminds her, placing his hand on your shoulder. “They don’t want to tangle with us, and we shouldn’t force our ideas on them.”

“You’re pretty smart, monkey.” Sheela tells him with a confident smirk. “We’ll have what you need soon enough. You just sit tight.”

Videl glares back at her, but makes no further comment, stomping out with you all. “I’m not sure we can take their word on this.”

“I don’t like this any more than you do.” you reassure. “But they are extending an olive branch here. Especially since, according to them, my mom’s some kind of space criminal.” You nudge her with your elbow.

Maple lets out a soft chuckle, but one that sounds a little sad. “Don’t you start following in my footsteps, Ghost Pepper.”

“Oh noooo, it’s in my blood, I’m gonna be a spaaaace criminal toooooo~” you reply, trying to cheer her up a little. Another laugh, but this one less melancholic. “But... mom, Ledgic isn’t your fault. Even if it does mean they needed some extra help taking down things like that monster-”

“Mmh.” Videl bites her thumb gently. “And now I’m regretting that too. Maybe we acted too hastily...”

Before you have time to debate that more, almost from nowhere a person approaches you. Not a native, instead an alien with an almost bird-like beak, but one wearing similar uniform to the other officers here, just with large black sunglasses. And you get a rather... suspicious feeling about him. “Youse Maple Son-Mahogany’s group, yea? Don Kee would like a word wit ya.”

You glare at the person briefly, and then just turn and wordlessly walk away. Videl seems to do the same, following after you. “...So I take it the kid there has a stick up her butt, eh?” he tries to taunt while you’re still within earshot. Not dignifying that either. Videl walks beside you, a smile on her face. The person says something, but you don’t care to register what it was. You’re not falling for this kind of sketchy scheme.

Once outside, you notice Pantea following along after, mom and Raditz behind her. But as they walk, you contact them telepathically. ‘Can someone try and contact 19? She might be able to help us get to the bottom of this, scout out these supposed rebels and see what their story is.’

‘Are you sure it’s wise to get involved?’ Raditz questions.

‘They’re trying to GET us involved. We’re no mercenaries. If they’re trying to pull a fast one on us like this, we need to at least know the whole story.’ You look to Videl and smile. “Right?”

She nods proudly. “Right.”

‘I’ll contact her, then.’ Pantea tells you, heading out, giving Videl a nudge with her elbow. “Sure you didn’t want to hear more of that guy’s sales pitch?”

You stretch your arms a little. “Aaaaalrighty! 19‘s got her thing to do, why don’t we look around the area for a while?”

“Sounds good, Peppa.” Videl affirms.

“We’ll be here still.” mom tells you.

“Oh! Um, should one of us go watch over the ship too? Just in case?” you bring up, looking back.

Mom and Pantea turn to Raditz, who frowns at them. “I think our main pilot should be the one doing that. It could use a tune-up.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Pantea grumbles.

“It means that ships tend to end up with some wear no matter how good the piloting skill of the person driving it around is.” he tells her bluntly. “God knows I’ve had to make a few hasty repairs when I had my old PTO pod.”

Pantea brings up a finger and looks like she wants to argue that, but stops and concedes. “Okay, okay, fine, I’ll give her a look over.”

Raditz tries not to smirk, mom shaking her head, as you and Videl continue on your way. “We’ll tell you if we find anything interesting!” the black-haired girl calls out to Pantea. She waves as she flies off, Giru approaching the two of you, floating around.

“Giru, Giru. Are you two attempting to find more about Basilea on your own?”

“Perhaps.” Videl tells him. “But the whole place seems a little sketchy, and I want to make sure we know just what we’re getting into while we’re here. And I’m not entirely sure I trust the ‘law enforcement’ here. They seem like they have a grudge against Maple, and that may bias what info they’re willing to share with us.”

“Mom does seem to not be too happy about what happened with Ledgic, especially if it’s having such an effect on this place.” You cross your arms as you walk. “So we should get to the bottom of this.”

You and Videl start to roam the streets nearby, seeing a noticeably busier few markets. Certainly busier than the area you entered from, with several merchants selling their wares... and almost immediately trying to sell the three of YOU whatever they can. “Used Microwave! Just needs new cord! 25,000 Gammets!”

“N-no thank you-” Videl tries to move away, only to be ambushed by another.

“Fresh bread for the pretty lady and her sister! Is only 8,000 Gammets!” a man with what looks like giant baguettes tells her.

“Seems like a lot for bread.” you mumble.

“SIX THOUSAND!” another, with the same kind of bread, yells, climbing over the first.

“5500!”

“New watch! New watch! Please, please, I need to sell these things!” one man almost begs of the two of you, showing you both a selection of strange pink watches that let out garbled sounds, like toys with dying batteries. “I had to eat shoes yesterday! Shoes taste awful!”

The gathered crowd starts to slowly be broken up as you and Videl see a couple robots start to shove their way through them, heading into a couple buildings. A lot of the merchants seem to move off in a panic when they see the robots coming. You and Videl get a closer look at one as it goes about its business. “I AM THE PUSHER ROBOT. I AM HERE TO PROTECT YOU.”

It then stars going through drawers, a couple cowering in a corner as it does. “We’ll find the money, just please, please give us more time.”

“DO YOU HAVE STAIRS IN YOUR HOUSE?”

“You took the stairs last week!”

Videl looks at the machine angrily. Giru asks, in confusion, “Why would this robot take stairs as payment?”

>A. All right hold up, just how much do these people owe?
>B. Watch, but don’t interfere

If you were in the joking mood, you’d make a pun about the stairs thing. But you’re not. Also it’s clearly a pun Izzy’d make. You instead focus on making something with the Clothes Beam. Ah, but what would catch these robots’ attention? ...Got it!

“Excuse me, Mr. Robot Sir!” you call out, firing the Clothes Beam off in the distance. “There’s someone with quite a valuable-looking gem over there! I believe he’s requesting to pay his taxes with it!”

“PUSHING WILL PROTECT YOU.” it declares as it marches past you and Videl, and right over to a crudely made mannequin holding a crystal ball with (what you’re hoping is) their currency symbol on it. The robot seems nonethewiser, tackling the mannequin to the ground. “OUR MISSION IS COMPLETE.”

And the robot bolts away, the couple sighing in relief. The man approaches, bowing to you. “You bought us some time, young girl. I’d say we owe you, but I’m afraid we have little we can give.”

“It’s no problem, sir. You’re in a bad spot.” you tell them. “Has this really been that bad?”

“It varied before, but it’s gotten worse recently. Rebel activity has put some strain on Don Kee’s resources, and so he takes it out on us.” He shakes his head. “It’s a cycle that keeps feeding on one another, and we suffer because of it.”

“I keep hearing about these rebels or freedom fighters, but what exactly are they doing?” Videl questions. “Who are they?”

“A rag-tag group, truly. Not all of them natives. They tried to topple Don Kee and stop this, but they’ve never been more than a thorn in his side since Ledgic left.” He exhales loudly. “And Don Kee isn’t one to start giving in to their demands that he turn over his wealth to us.”

“So this merry band got a name, or a leader, or something?” Videl asks.

“Some of the aliens in the group have declared their names before. Can’t quite recall all of them, but there is one young man, think his name was Ze... Zesh... something like that?”

19 finally contacts you through your goggles. “I have visual on some of these rebels. A number of them seem to be truly humanoid in appearance. Overhearing them talk of an operation beginning soon.”

“How soon?” you ask.

And as if to answer, you hear the sound of weapons firing outside. You and Videl look outside as the couple goes back to hide. An attack on... the Pusherbots, a group of people in cloaks and other concealing outfits, though some with armor and even a couple with PTO armor, rushing out there, faces mostly obscured by masks or large goggles. The weapons they’re using seem to be mostly low-tech, rifles, shotguns, pistols, a few of them with beam weapons. “Emi! Bun! Stick to the plan! We’ve gotta draw them out!” a young man orders.

“Got it!” a young woman... no, a girl, maybe about your age replies. She shoulders a rocket launcher and fires it off at one of the robots. The explosion is smaller than you figured it would be, but aimed well, disabling the machine. “More coming our way, Zeshin!”

“Stick to the plan! No going back after this, Don Kee’s reign of terror ends today!”

You know I voted against that mod. We can use a phone because that has things targeted at the ear and mouth while goggles are for the eyes and go over the ear.
>>
>>3488067
Furthermore, if whatever's in the band of the goggles is going to be emitting sound that's loud enough to be clearly heard by Peppa despite it not being in or around the ear canal, that's going to alert enemies to our location which could rob the initiative from us.

This invention isn't as useful as a phone with the vibrate function.

The group of rebels charge forward as police sirens blare in the distance. The Imeckan natives huddle in their homes in fear, the marketplace that looked so busy when you and Videl first arrived now desolate save for the young rebels and robots clashing. Some more seem to take cover around building corners, others gathering up the various trinkets and items the robots took for “taxation” and moving them to certain homes.

‘Peppa, Videl, looks like there’s going to be a bit of a delay on us getting the info they have on Basilea.’ mom tells the two of you telepathically. ‘Keep Giru safe, Raditz and I have a plan to-’

‘GUYS THEY WERE TRYING TO TAKE OUR SHIP!’ Pantea calls out angrily. ‘THEY HAD A CREW SET UP AND EVERYTHING!’

‘Heh, figured as much.’ Raditz remarks smugly. ‘Nice work.’

Pantea seems to grumble, but doesn’t add much else. “Well, now what?” Videl asks.

‘Keep Giru safe, we’ll meet up soon.’

The battle outside starts to get more intense. You and Videl look at one another, then at Giru. “...I can’t just stay here and do nothing.”

“Heh, couldn’t stop you if I wanted to.” you tell Videl. “I’ve got a plan though. I’ll keep Giru safe while you do your thing, but above all else we prioritize keeping civilians safe. No reason to be space vigilantes and get our pictures on the wanted posters. I DID already get yelled at by Mrs. Launch for that before, kinda.”

Videl laughs and nods. “Smart thinking, Peppa. On three?”

“One.” you start.

“Two...” Videl continues.

“THREE!”

https://youtu.be/rU0XA7ZpiXU

The two of you head off, Videl charging forward as you sneak your way around with Giru. You see some civilians rushing for cover up ahead, then teleport to them and pick them up, bringing them to safety away from the fighting. Videl meanwhile blitzes around with the Raio-ken, doing her best to deflect all the shots both sides take from any of the residential areas, even grabbing a few missiles out of the air and knocking them up into the sky. You follow that up by spotting a crying child being ignored by the Imeckan Police as they bring their patrol hovercars towards the scene of the battle. You teleport to the kid. “Hey there little guy. Don’t worry. I’ll get you out of here.”

“I... I wan... I wan mama... wh... WWWAAAAA!” the kid starts to cry. You pick him up as you hear gunfire start again, leaping up to a rooftop.

“Where do you live, lil’ guy?” you ask, peeking over the rooftop.

“Th-th... tha...” he sniffles out, looking around. He points to a smaller building, one with a woman outside yelling out for someone. “MAMA!”

You see some of the rebels try to march forward, only to be knocked aside as a much larger robot storms through, firing off a rocket that sends some of them flying... and with an explosion strong enough that it damages the building the woman’s at, trapping her leg under some rubble. Videl seems to spot her, but is forced to leap up as the robot starts firing wildly, taking some of the missiles it launches and doing her best to keep them from hitting any more buildings.

>A. Teleport to the woman and get her and the kid to safety far away from here!
>B. Knock the rubble away and reunite the mother and child, but focus on protecting as many civilians as possible

Tapping your fingers on your forehead, you teleport to the woman and get her free in a blitz of speed that leaves her speechless. Making sure the two are far enough out of the line of fire, you give them both a thumb’s up, then turn back around. Your tail sways behind you as you focus, checking on how many civilians are still in the area. Just to be on the safe side, you power up into Super Saiyan and then blast away like a relentless gale, teleporting all over the place and getting as many people to safety as possible, along the way disarming some of the rebels and the police when you notice them start to fire wildly. As you do so you almost mistake an afterimage of you helping some people for you using the Crane School’s multi-form technique.

Finally, with the area mostly cleared, you spot the person the group referred to as Zeshin before try to charge forward into the officers, guns blazing, yelling out as he does. You burst down right in front of him... and take a rocket to the face meant for him alongside having to hold off his manic firing. It doesn’t hurt you too much, but it is certainly annoying. Still, you manage to get him to halt his charge. At the top of your lungs you scream out “EEEENNNOOOOUUUGH!”

That gets the clash to calm for just a moment, the young man falling back as you stand in front of him. “W-wha-?”

“Shame on all of you! Look at what you’ve been doing!” you begin to lecture. First you point to the Imeckan forces. “What are you all thinking?! Overtaxing your citizens is one thing, but this behavior is pure recklessness! Who taught you all to aim?! You’ve been putting innocent civilians in harm’s way, letting the collateral damage build up without a care in the world!”

“What... who’s this kid?!” one of the officers demands.

“AND YOU!” You turn back to the rebels, looking down at Zeshin first before addressing all of them. “If you’re trying to help these people, you can’t all be so gung-ho about this! What kind of freedom fighters are you that you’d act so calously towards the people you’re supposed to be fighting for?!”

While that puts a bit of a damper on both the Imeckan forces’ and rebels’ morale, some of the officers seem to get agitated. “And just what are YOU doing here, kid? Who the hell do you think you are?!”

>A. I am Son Peppa, Champion of planet Earth, and so long as I’m here I’m not going to let innocent people get hurt!
>B. I’m just a hero passing through, not sitting on the sidelines while innocents are in danger

>>
>>3490592
>>C. I’m a Saiyan who fights for justice! And what you both have been doing isn’t right!
>>
>>3490592
You stomp your feet into the ground as you let your aura surge around you just a little more, crossing your arms and staring down at them all with a ferocious glare. You declare to both groups with a fire in your voice, “I am a Saiyan who fights for justice! The Tuffest there is! And what you’ve been doing isn’t right!”

“S-SAIYAN?!” a couple of the officers call out, noticing your swaying tail. They back up, and even the rebels seem to be shocked by that declaration.

You point your thumb at your chest and declare further, “I am Son Peppa! Champion of planet Earth! And as long as I’m here, I’m not going to let innocent people get hurt!”

The Imeckan police start to retreat, running off. The rebels however seem awed by your display. Zeshin finally gets to his feet. “Um... that was rather impressive... Son Peppa, was it?”

“Yes. But you guys aren’t off the hook either. I can understand trying to help people in need, but... look at this!” You swing your arms out at the ruined area, the various craters and demolished buildings. “What the heck is going through your minds?!”

“W-well, we had little choice...” he tells you defensively. “Don Kee has upped his game. We need to make a move against him now.” He looks towards the highest tower in the city. “And we should have bought them enough time for it. I knew we couldn’t rely on that machine forever.”

“If by ‘that machine’ you mean the giant bug robot, then you should really have picked better things to rely on.” Videl tells him critically. “Because it didn’t exactly target just them.”

His eyes widen slightly. “...Wait, you-?”

“Yes. It went after us. Someone baited us into a trap with it there.” you cut him off, glaring.

The redheaded girl and the other young man approach alongside a couple of the other rebels. The girl tilts her head as she looks you over. “You... seem familiar. Have... we met?”

“Don’t believe so.” you reply, eyes still glaring at Zeshin.

He shakes his head. “Well, this was probably distraction enough. We’ve accomplished what we needed to.” Zeshin looks at the tower once more.

“What exactly were you trying to-?”

Videl’s question is cut short by the sound of an explosion in the distance. You both look back and see smoke rising from the tower. Aaaaand to make matters worse, mom contacts you. ‘Ghost Pepper, come in! We’ve got confirmation Basilea was here... and it looks like she was in contact with the rebels. Raditz has gone off to investigate that explosion. What’s the situation on your end, Ghost Pepper? Over.’

‘I hear you loud and clear, Momma Bird. There’s this guy here, he seems to be one of the rebel leaders, I can bring him to you if you need. Name’s Zeshin and-’

‘Hold up Ghost Pepper... you said Zeshin, right? Are there any others with him? Over.’

You look back. ‘Uhh... another young man and a redheaded girl, why-?’

‘I’m coming there, just give me a sec to collect this. Over.’

Ooooh boy she sounds upset. Like, you and Gohan arguing over the last couple steaks choices upset. Maybe worse. “Look, uh, Videl? Can you watch over these guys until mom gets here? I’m gonna head off to help uncle Raditz. Apparently they’ve been in contact with Basilea somehow, and we need to get what answers we can.”

She nods. “All right, fine. Giru! Get over here, Peppa’s going somewhere dangerous.”

“Giru, Giru. Assistance needed?”

“No, you’ll probably get hurt.” You take to the air. “We can’t risk that. We’ll meet up again soon though.”

Your mom teleports in right as you’re about to leave. The humanoid rebels freeze in terror when they see her. “...So. This is what you’ve all been up?”

“MRS. MAPLE?!” the girl shouts in surprise.

“Hello again Emi.” she tells the girl in a tone that sends a shiver down your spine. Even Videl seems to flinch when she hears your mother talk like that. “And hey, you remembered my name.”

“W-well, you are kinda famous.” the girl admits. She, and the rest, then realize something. “...Wait, is that... is she your daughter?” Emi points up at you.

“Yes she is. Now can you all explain what exactly you’ve been doing associating with a dangerous demon lady and playing freedom fighters on this planet?”

“We aren’t playing anything! We’ve been trying to help these people!” Zeshin protests. “Do the right thing!”

Mom sighs loudly. You wave to her. “Hey, uh, I know this is probably all important, but I’m gonna give uncle Raditz some backup, just in case.”

“Okay sweetie. Keep in contact.”

You teleport away as mom starts to give her retort, teleporting next to Raditz, who’s peeking through a hole in the building. He motions for you to keep quiet and lower your Ki as the two of you see what’s going on in there. There seems to be a man cowering behind a desk, an Imeckan native. “P-please! Please! I’ll give you as much as you want! I’ll do anything!”

“You’ve taken quite a lot from your people.” a... cold, but oddly cordial voice tells him. Slightly mechanical sounding, but also somewhat... masculine. A figure in what looks like silvery armor with a flowing green cape towers over the Imeckan. “And yet you crumble so easily when a few rabble rouses outsmart you.”

“Please! Please, spare me! I’ll give you all that you ask!”

A mechanical chuckle comes from the larger figure as you... feel its Ki rise. Ki... that feels like Giru’s. A mechanical hand stamps a staff into the ground. “There is one thing I want. The last location of your bodyguard. I figured threatening you directly would get him to show himself. Tell me, where is Ledgic?”

“Th-the wizard! The wizard Babidi ran off with him!”

“And where was Babidi going?” the large figure asks, stomping closer. You spot two more figures with him, things crawling on all fours. Obscured slightly, sticking to the shadows, but you spot long, barbed tails on each of them. “My patience is wearing thin, Don Kee.”

“I-I don’t know!” One of the barbed tails is brought to Don Kee’s neck. “B-BUT I KNOW SOMEONE WHO MIGHT! THE ONES WHO ENCOURAGED HIM TO LEAVE THE FIRST TIME! TH-THE GINYU FORCE AND THAT GIRL THAT WAS WITH THEM!” The tail’s brought away.

“See? Was that so hard?” The figure looks back in the direction of you and Raditz, and you make out the features of what looks like a robotic skull. “...It would seem you have more uninvited guests. Looks like some of the rabble rousers have gotten here to finish you off. Just in time for me to take my leave.”

“WAIT! WAIT PLEASE! PLEASE YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE ME TO DIE!” Don Kee pleads.

“Very well.” He raises a hand, one of the obscured figures moves out of the darkness and towards you and Raditz. “A little parting gift.”

“Hold it, buddy!” Raditz finally jumps in. “Deputy Galactic Patrolman Raditz, I’ve got-”

The figure teleports away before your uncle can finish. And the thing that held its tail to Don Kee’s throat stands... letting out a shriek as its jaws open. Both sets of them. Oh CRAP.

“One each, or want a free-for-all?” your uncle asks you confidently. “Because I’m pretty sure I could take both of these on blindfolded.”

>A. We get them out of the city, just to make sure they don’t hurt anyone!

“We need to get them out of the city! Make sure they don’t hurt anyone!” you call out, powering up. The one staring the two of you down makes a lunge at you both, which you dodge and grab it at the tail, gripping tight and flying up with it, bolting away at top speed before swinging it around when you reach the city’s outskirts and flinging it as hard as you can into the desert.

Raditz does the same, adding a bit of flair to his attack as he flings it up in midair and pummels his fitst into it before smashing its jaw with an uppercut and sending it flying into a craggy hill. The two of you touch down where the machines landed, seeing both creatures get back up... the damage your uncle did to the second one starting to heal up. They both bolt at the two of you, you and Raditz dodging, but getting quite a surprise as you see the backs of their gigantic heads open up into toothy maws, jaws like robotic alligators, as they barely miss you. The heads close up. “Ornery little things aren’t they?”

“Okay even in the dumbest sequel movies I’ve seen things like this in, I haven’t seen them do THAT.” you comment. “They might have some nasty surprises in store, uncle Raditz. Stay sharp!”

>A. All right, pummel this thing until it can’t regenerate anymore!

You strafe away from the monster as it tries to leap at you again, both pairs of front jaws snapping towards you. You spin in midair as you get some more distance, then make a gun-shape with your hand. “Geist Magnum!” Okay, aim for the joints! You fire at the monster again and again, wearing it down. Its body does manage to regenerate, but you’re taking a toll on it pretty quickly.

“KRREEEEEEEE!” it yells out, a surge of energy jolting up from its body. Sections of its face start to open up into a large, blaring red optic, glowing... with a good deal more energy than you were expecting. It fires out a beam from its head, one that you deflect away into a rocky cliff, a rocky cliff that gets vaporized when the beam hits. Heat visibly vents from the machine’s head, and it once again tries to charge at you. You flip up over it, the machine’s backward-facing mouth trying to take a chomp at you again... and to make it even stranger, it also fires off a missile from the open back mouth.

Spinning around the missile, you decide to up the ante a bit. Mixing Wind Magic in with your Ki, you yell out, “RASEN! MAGNUM!” and continue your barrage. That’ll kick up some of the sand and get it in the joints, giving its nanomachines a harder time to repair the damage. It even kicks up enough that when it opens up the optic cannon again, you manage to scratch and blast that too. In desperation, it seems to fling a metallic liquid your way from its wounds, which thankfully you manage to see coming well enough that you avoid a repeat of earlier today. Bit by bit the damage keeps adding up, until finally it collapses under your flurry of energy attacks, limbs falling off as it’s blasted to pieces.

The machine collapses back, its sparking body oozing some foul-smelling substances that seem to eat through the sand, burning away at it and even singing it slightly. Raditz finally overwhelms his opponent with a massive Ki blast, eradicating the other machine completely. He exhales deeply. “Hoooh! That regeneration of theirs is quite annoying. That took more than I thought it would.”

“No kidding. Certainly stronger than I was expecting.” You hover a little closer to the remains of the one you blasted apart. Doesn’t look like it’s getting back up any time soon. You sense Pantea start to approach, 19 visible in the distance carrying some very frightened Imeckans dressed in garb that the rebels you saw earlier were wearing.

>A. Pantea! Hey! You’re gonna want to take a look at this!

You call to the purple-haired girl. “Pantea! Hey! Heeeey! Over here! You’re gonna want to take a look at this!”

She approaches as you keep waving to her, mom and Videl still in the city, 19 heading towards them. Apparently she’d gotten some of the rebel leaders to agree to questioning. Pantea slowly approaches. “What... exactly happened here? I had to fend off some people going after our ship so I’m a little lost here.”

“Long story short, freedom fighters made their move against the tyrannical Don Kee, got into a big fight against his forces while mom and uncle Raditz uncovered evidence that they got help from Basilea. Meanwhile, some OTHER person who’d been working with them barged into Don Kee’s office and threatened him with two of these...” You bring out your Power Pole, extending it and poking the corpse with it. Almost without warning it jolts back to life, the torn torso and remains of the head and left arm springing to action, the arm grabbing on to your Power Pole. Pantea, almost on instinct, fires a Ki blast at it as you thwack it a few times, smashing it to bits. “AND STAY DOWN YOU CREEP!” you yell at it.

“This... well, as terrifying as this is, it just seems to raise further questions.” Pantea comments. “Mmh... we should do something to analyze it. And you said someone was ordering them around?”

“Well, tall, robotic-looking guy. Had a skull-like face. He mistook us for some of the rebels, and left these things to go after us while he escaped.” you explain to her, poking it one more time. Okay, DEFINITELY dead now. Ugh. Nearly gave you a heart attack.

“He wanted to know where Ledgic went off to.” Raditz adds. “And Don Kee pointed him in the direction of the Ginyu Force before he left.”

“Well. That sounds bad. Hey, Peppa, can you move it a little closer?” Pantea moves a bit closer, you pushing a bit of what’s left of the thing’s tail over to her. She kneels down, making a heavy glove with her Clothes Beam and picking up the piece. “...It’s just like the one we encountered on Brench, but... clearly more developed. It... ah!” She drops it as the glove starts steaming. Pantea quickly removes her glove and looks it over. “...It has some crazy strong acid in its body too.”

“It also opened up the back of its head into another set of jaws and even fired a missile out of them.” you point out, prodding the head section. “And there is some kind of optic cannon in this too.”

“Mine started flinging that acid at me when I blasted its arm off. It then sealed up its wound and began to self-repair.” Raditz comments.

“Think Giru might be able to get some data from these things, figure out what happened to them and maybe reverse them?” you ask.

“I don’t think ‘reversing’ adding a giant laser cannon to some poor creature’s face is within his capabilities.” Pantea remarks, squinting at you. “But we definitely need to analyze these.” She materializes a large container and has you pick up a piece that isn’t still sizzling from leaking acid. “Let’s get these back to Maple.”

Taking off, you give one last glance at the remains of the mechanical monster. Cocoa isn’t going to believe you when you tell her about this. Even with proof. Man, it sounds like a bad movie sequel. Turning one into a robot and giving it missile launchers and a eye cannon. How would that even work? Eh, thoughts for later. You manage to arrive, but see a vehicle jetting off away from the city... and with Don Kee inside it. Uh. Whoops.

You loudly sigh as you stop in midair. “...I’m gonna go grab him real quick. Be back in a bit.” You bolt off after him, getting up close. He’s heading off pretty quickly. Prrrroooooobably for good reason, but still. You fly up beside his car, knocking on his window. “Hey. HEY! Pull over!”

He spots you and screams in panic, flooring it, bolting away. You pinch the ridge of your nose. Okay. That’s how he’s gonna play it. You tap your fingers to your forehead and lock on to his Ki. Teleporting in front of him, you latch on to the vehicle’s front window, frowning and letting out an annoyed snort. “GET AWAY! GET AWAAAAAYYY!” Don Kee screams... turning on the windshield wipers. They harmlessly bap at your head.

“You think those things were going to stop with us?” you ask him. “You’d be next. You’ve got a lot to answer for, buddy, but you can help resolve this peacefully. Now, you want to come quietly, or kicking and screaming?”

The girlish shrieks, higher and louder than ANY girl in your class somehow, indicate he’s choosing the latter. You open the door and pull him out, setting the vehicle down before teleporting him back to where you sense everyone’s gathered. Don Kee still screaming. “AGH, MY EARS! MAKE IT STOP!” one of the officers demands.

19 approaches Don Kee slowly. “It would appear your volume is set too high. Please lower it if you wish to continue.” He refuses. She brings her hand up to his mouth. “Lower your voice.” she less asks and more directs him.

“You’ve got a lot you need to answer for.” mom tells him. “Let’s start talking and see if we can get this over without any more violence.”

“You’ve done everything in your power to exploit your people!” Zeshin yells out.

“YOU have no right ordering us around, young man!” Don Kee retorts. “You’re a criminal!”

“The only criminal here is the one extorting every last Gammet out of his citizens!”

The tense stalemate continues as it has for the last 5 minutes, with a back and forth between them both as most everyone keeps away, both groups only barely held back by Don Kee’s clear cowardace towards putting himself in harm’s way. But for your group, you manage to get everyone caught up on what’s been going on, that Emi girl surprised by what she hears from your questions on Basilea.

“She... she never gave us a name. Just pointed out that... that monster would help our cause. And that greedy individuals like Don Kee would inevitably be drawn towards it.” She places her face in her hands. “We thought she was helping us.”

“In the end though she just used you to further her goals... but this isn’t your fault. You had no idea what she was capable of.” Videl tells her softly.

“What about this other person? The one who went to Don Kee directly?” Raditz asks. “Was he in league with her?”

Emi shakes her head. “No, he had no idea who she was, but he did show familiarity with the thing we’d been using to fend off the Imeckan army’s attacks. We were willing to trust him, as he demonstrated the ability to keep them under his control. He... he urged us to make our strike when he seemed to realize that the large one had been destroyed.”

“How long has he been here?” you ask her.

“About a week, counting today.”

You notice mom’s been oddly quiet, her focus divided between listening in on all of this, while also keeping watch over the argument Zeshin and Don Kee are having. No one’s mentioned it yet. But someone’s going to have to. That someone ends up being 19. “Raditz, Peppa, you said this person was looking for Ledgic, correct?”

“And Don Kee set him in the direction of the Ginyu Force.” he affirms. “We don’t know WHY he’s after Ledgic, though.”

>A. Emi, is there anything else you can tell us about this person, and your encounter with Basilea?

“Emi, is there anything else you can tell us about this person? And your encounter with Basilea? Anything at all? We’re trying to prevent her from doing something dangerous, and this guy clearly doesn’t care much about collateral damage.” you ask. “What they were wearing, strange behavior, strange smells, anything at all?”

“Well... this Basilea lady was in a large cloak that obscured most of her body, but what little we did see seemed to indicate she was dressed in grey furs.” Emi rubs her head. “She... really did seem like she was trying to help us. Or maybe we were just looking for any excuse to get a leg up on Don Kee...”

“Hmm...” Videl thinks for a moment. “What do you recall about the tone of her voice, and did she seem like she was in a hurry?”

“Her tone was cordial and respectful, just offering us that little bit of assistance, giving us a warning about it, and some bits on behavior... she didn’t exactly want to stick around for that long, though...”

“Hmm...” Videl bites her thumb gently. “We’ll have to keep note of that if she’s doing this elsewhere.”

“And the robot guy?” Pantea questions. “How did that encounter go down?”

“He approached us and demonstrated he had no hostile intentions, merely was looking for something and figured helping us would help him achieve his goal. He seemed like some kind of... it’s hard to describe. He was tall, mechanical, and lanky, almost skeletal-looking, but he didn’t quite behave maliciously towards us. Quite the opposite, actually. He’d have some banter, strike up conversations with people, and give some advice when needed. But he only ever showed up on his time, seemingly out of nowhere. I don’t know if it was some kind of technology like our old ship, or if it was him just teleporting in at random, but he’d always surprise us when he showed up.”

“What did he ask you to call him? A name, an alias?” Raditz asks.

“Mugen.” the other young man, Bun, replies. “He told us to call him Mugen.”

Your uncle ruffles his hair. “Mugen... Mugen... not ringing any bells.”

“This Mugen individual is after Ledgic. That he is seeking such a powerful warrior out on his own is reason enough to be concerned.” 19 comments.

You see mom close her eyes, then walk towards her. “Mom, are you okay? You’ve been very quiet. Something bothering you?”

“This all has gotten more complicated than I hoped. The kind of impact I had here, on these kids, on this planet... and more importantly, with Ledgic, it’s all making me wonder how we can keep this from spiraling out of control any more than it already has.” She looks at the still arguing Don Kee and Zeshin, though looks like Don Kee’s starting to lose what little support he still has left given the wavering looks on the faces of his forces. She glances at you, though, and smiles. “You know Peppa, I’m proud of you.”

“W-what for?”

“You got involved too. But you did it for the sake of protecting innocent people. Heh, kinda wish I got to see your little speech there.” She nudges your arm with her elbow. “So, strike a heroic pose to go with it?”

Eheheh heh, guess you did kinda... do that. BUT! But, an important difference! “Hey now! Cool poses only. No dorky ones like the ones you do! So nyeeh!” You stick your tongue out at your mom childishly, Videl giggling behind you.

“I mean... you did a pretty good job getting everyone to stop fighting by telling them all off.” she adds. “No overly dramatic movements, so... definitely more reserved posing.”

Mom laughs and shakes her head. “Oh Peppa...”

“Okay but, really, mom, if that kind of stuff’s bothering you that much, you know you can tell us, right?” Your tail sways behind you as you speak. “It’s not your fault that things ended up this way.”

Mom sighs. “I have a part in it, though. I’ll do what I can to set people on the right path, though.”

“Maple.” 19 addresses. “For what it is worth. I still appreciate what you and Chiaotzu did for me. I am glad I was able to walk down this path.” She gives mom a smile.

That brightens her spirits a bit more. You place your hands behind your head. “So... what are you proposing we do now? Start searching for this thing? Do you have anyone who could help you look? I think I remember you mentioning another world’s Kami helping you out before...”

“Might be useful to check in on planet Kuhn again, but first I want to contact the Ginyu Force, give them a heads up on this. We also need to look into the remains of that monster, and the connection it had with the one on Brench and the one we fought earlier. Lastly, I’d like to double check on when Hassan was here with Giru. Could give us some more clues, because they seem related...”

“I have had ENOUGH of this!” Don Kee screams at Zeshin. “I will not be lectured to by some ingrate alien terrorist any longer!”

“Run out of retorts and resorted to shouting insults, huh?” the young man asks.

“YOU THERE! STOP STANDING AROUND AND ARREST HIM!” Don Kee demands of one of his officers. “MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF HIM AND THE REST OF HIS PATHETIC GROUP!”

The officer... refuses. Zeshin starts to walk towards him. “Don Kee. It’s over. You’re only trying to save your skin at this point. As soon as you’re able to, you’re going to bail, just like you did before.”

He looks around in desperation. “W-WHO PAYS YOUR SALARIES?! STOP LISTENING TO HIM AND LISTEN... LISTEN TO ME!”

Zeshin seems to move his hand to his pistol, mom tensing up as he does... but then it stops, instead bringing it back up. He asks of the officer Don Kee yelled at, “I think it’s time we put this to rest. Peacefully.”

The officer is quiet for a tense moment. He starts to walk forward. Don Kee turns around and laughs. “HAH! I KNEW IT! Smart move turning yourself in, you-”

“Don Kee, you are under arrest.” the cop states, cuffing him. “For excessive corruption and attempt to flee off-world.”

“W-WHAT?! NO! NOOOO!”

Mom’s smile goes wider. Sheela and Gale head to her. “Look, this is gonna cause a lot of turmoil, but we might as well make the best of it. Be on your way, Maple Son-Mahogany, and we can give you something extra.”

“Extra?” mom repeats.

“Cameras did catch some footage of the big ol’ mechanical guy making his way to Don Kee’s office. Do what you can to find him.” Gale states.

“Rest assured, we will.” Raditz responds confidently.

They leave, and Pantea asks everyone, “So, what now? Do we head off immediately?”

It's easy to point at one person as the source of people's problems and make them a bogeyman, it's hard to actually fix the problems.

“Eh, you guys have fun. I’m gonna chat with Cocoa some. She is not going to BELIEVE what we’ve been through!” You get your goggles ready, but as you do, you remember something. “...Oooone thing first though.” You march out towards the officers, hauling off the ranting Don Kee.

One of them turns to you and gives you a curious look. “...Y-yes, uh... Son Peppa, was it?”

“One last request, and I’ll be out of your hair.” You spot out the couple you met earlier among the gathered crowds. “Can someone give those people their stairs back?”

Emi does a double-take as you give that request, but the couple gives you an appreciative smile. The officer rubs the back of his neck. “Um. We’ll... see what we can do.”

“Thank you! Please give them back!” You start to take off, waving to everyone. “Oh, and no hard feelings for earlier, Emi! Just don’t want to see innocent people get hurt.”

“R-right. Goodbye, Son Peppa!”

>DRAGON BALL TUFFLE QUEST KAI #15 END.
>Twitter account is @KatoQm, will have status updates there
>Got some questions for the QM? Suggestions? Throw them at ask.fm/QMKato and I'll try to answer them as best I can

All right folks, that's all for this thread. Thanks for sticking around for so long! I’ll be around for a bit tomorrow for some questions if y’all have any. Did y’all have fun?
>>
>>3495640
Had a good time, Kato. Nice having Peppa come into her own, more.
>>
>>3495640
gohan next?
>>
>>3495644
Gohan's story seems to be finished with no clear goal in front of him. The other two are more interesting to play as to boot.

Though, I have an arc in mind, it involves milk delivery to an undersea palace.
>>
>>3495640
Yes, but I really didn't appreciate your bullshit with that pun write-in back there. Peppa has made lame puns, and Izumi hates them. You can't just flip the dynamic on a whim. You saw that I wanted to do something, and you mutilated it even if it made things not fit with what came before.
>>
>>3495640
Daww. That's cute.
Great times were had Kato! Peppa is definitely getting some character bits in. I think this one had a better flow than the Branch one, and curious about this new villain.

Would be fair to give Gohan a shot next time.
>>
Speaking of bullshit, Kato can you please tell 13arabba aka Angry that he really he needs to calm down and stop being so disrespectful.
>>
>>3495847
Anon, Kato has disrespected me to begin with for wrecking something I wanted to get in for no reason other than she's mad at me. I have shown her evidence of her own words to make her see differently and that she had no real reason to fuck with that write-in the way she did, but she has not acknowledged this. Making a write-in is one of the fun parts of this quest for me, and if Kato gets in the way of that out of spite, I can't have fun. Kato, if you don't like a write-in, just don't put it in the story, and please don't mess with it.
>>
>>3496040
Make better write-ins, jackass.
>>
>>3497040
Not relevant.
>>

>>
>>3497082
Seriously, do you read? She ruined the write-in I made for no good reason. Peppa does make dumb puns, and Izumi doesn't.
>>
>>3497133
It was shit. She made it less shit.

She retconned Peppa's and Izzy's characterizations to mess with my write-in. That's not great.

And the Ask thing. Every time I try to raise an issue on Ask, intending to have a conversation about something, you dismiss my concerns, and then wave off my rebuttals as to why they're valid.

You treat a discussion on there as "tiring bullshit" and something you "don't have time for," even though,
1. You run an Ask and wanted people to talk to you about stuff
2. You are given all the time in the world to answer something on Ask

That's the only way I can reach you with suggestions and topics that's public and for other people to pitch in their take on when we don't have a thread.
>>
>>3497235
So I can't really clean up anything if the other players are automatically against me and you are dismissive of me. I don't know what I can clean up that isn't external. And you've once again ignored me this thread when I pointed out your flawed reasoning on why a write-in wasn't good enough to get in, so I can't even have fun in the quest I go to to have fun in thanks to you making it that way.
>>
>>3497235
He's not going to stop until you tell him off, Kato. He's too invested in controlling everything. His ignores everyone else even when they tell him the same fucking thing you do. It LITERALLY happened last thread. His hypocritical ass will keep at it until he heard it from you.
>>
>>3497313
I have done nothing wrong this thread, I wanted to play the game with everyone else... then Kato intentionally made a write-in of mine (that was half the votes she got at the time) not get in on grounds of being out of character. If I can't play the game like normal, something's wrong. Someone, anyone, please acknowledge this.
>>
>>3497324
Here's the acknowledgement: read it again. Peppa directly says/thinks she would make the stupid pun if she were in the mood for it, but because of the situation and because nobody else supported it, it didn't get in. And here you have this autistic shitfit over it, treating it like a personal attack, decrying it as this fucking travesty. Because your shitty pun didn't get in. Kato wasn't insulting you you goddamn selfish fuck, she gave more attention than it probably needed.

You actively drown out criticism others might have because you keep doing shit like this. The reason people tell you to shut up? Because you have your head up your ass over this persecution complex of yours that you legitimately cannot see what you're doing is wrong. Look at what you're doing! You're having a fit because of a stupid little pun during a more serious stuation.

But you're not going to admit you're wrong. Just like you did last thread to another anon, you're going to ignore my response. Because that's what you do you whiny little hypocrite.
>>
>>3497370
>You're having a fit because of a stupid little pun during a more serious situation.
The other situation was storming a pirate airship for ninjas with little time and many enemies out to get us, the robot was slow, confiscating stairs, and not out to get us. Peppa has a penchant for making dumb jokes no matter how tense the situation is, and Videl was there, one of Peppa's friends who would be used to it from her.

You're painting me in the worst possible light so I'll just shut up, but I know I'm right.

And what's wrong with a little levity? If we don't take the piss out of a serious situation, it won't really be Dragon Ball after a bit.
>>
>>3497370
>and because nobody else supported it, it didn't get in.
I had one out of the two votes at the time, and even made a meme image for it. And when did this rule come about that we needed to have support for dialogue write-ins?

>Peppa directly says/thinks she would make the stupid pun if she were in the mood for it
Kato didn't use that reasoning, and the votes went that way, Peppa's in the mood for it. Kato said:
>Also it’s clearly a pun Izzy’d make.
Izumi doesn't do that. She would never make those puns where anyone else could hear, no matter how much of a guilty pleasure it is to her.
>>
>>3497418
>But, you miss out in your sneaky little attempt to make yourself look better that Izzy was amused by it. Subtext is that Izzy is upset she didn't make the pun first.
You're wrong, puns are a guilty pleasure for Izumi, that's all. She's disgusted that she thinks what Peppa said is funny, and would never lower her image in that regard by making them, but appreciates it just a lil' bit.
>>
>>3497431
And here you go. Lying out your ass because you can't admit you're wrong.
>>
Knock it off.
>>
>>3497441
No, that is really what all the subtext meant that you misinterpreted.
>>
>>3497421
>Kato didn't use that reasoning, and the votes went that way, Peppa's in the mood for it.

I can structure this a bit better.
>Kato didn't use that reasoning, and if the votes went that way, then Peppa's in the mood for it.

Peppa is her own person, but she's also a puppet. If we really want her to do something that fits with her character, she ought to do it.
>>
I have an apology to make.

>>3497443
I am sorry for cutting into your enjoyment when opportunities where you can enjoy yourself are becoming increasingly rare for reasons you've stated. I will resolve to consider how much fun you're having instead of bringing problems to you.

When I do have a question about a perceived inconsistency, I'll read through the previous threads to make sure it really is an inconsistency and not just my memory failing me before I ask you in the thread about it, especially so during a session.

I'm truly sorry about getting into these arguments, but again, I don't set out to antagonize the players, and it takes two to start a fight. So, with that in mind, I will not rise to the others' taunts from now on.

About the poll, Goldvoter has been either one person voting up your polls or a phenomenon of a few voters having many opportunities to vote up the suptg. I am of the opinion that Goldvoter has been rigging strawpolls as well as suptg for years ever since they figured out the trick to do so. I wanted to expose him/them with a bold move like the zeroing out, but it was a futile effort since no one trusted me. So, as a show of faith, I will tell you all the trick Goldvoter uses to rig polls: Take your phone, turn off wi-fi, use data, hit "Airplane Mode," then deactivate "Airplane Mode," voila, you have a new mobile IP address. I trust that you all will not use this in any fraudulent way. We are all adults here.

I seek to fix what has been broken for a while, and hope to re-earn y'all'ses' trust so we may all enjoy this quest as much as we did back at the tournament. I look forward to playing next time with you all.
