Welcome to Minion Quest, where a brave crew of foot soldiers led by the inept General Goomba are on the road to aid Bowser in kidnapping the Princess (again!).

You'll be needing this spreadsheet to play, which is constantly updated with our current Party, Items, discovered Enemies and moves that can be declared:

>Let the Sisters play with the baby, he is pretty amazing
The Doctorly Duo tickle and coddle the newborn Piranha Plant in the office. He loves the attention and makes little gurgling noises. The fun is interrupted by a crackling of the intercom.
-----
"Attention, General Goomba! T-this is Cadet Guy. W-we have a bit of an issue coming up on the computer that you REALLY need to see..."

>Go see what has the Cadet worried
I mean, the Cadet worries about the sky being blue but it's my job as General to keep everyone from losing it. So let's check out this new computer.
-----
"Heigh Ho, Generallisimo!"
>"At ease, Cadet. No really, ease up. You're gonna give yourself an ulcer."
"We've got a good reason to be tense."
>"We?"
-----
It only then occurred to me that Gom, Goom, and Goomy, our vertically stacked Engineering team were playing with the computer beside us.
-----
"He's right, Bossman."
"Check out the screen."
"We just finished uploading your Overworld Map on here."
-----
It looks just like the map in the Navigation Quarters, except it moves automatically instead of me having to draw on it with markers.
-----
>"So what are those red arrows?"
"Distress beacons."
"Several other Koopa Troop airships have been shot down within the past few hours en route to the castle. The Rosa Day and Amarillo Surprise stopped pinging about a half hour ago, and the Shock Azul is suspected to have been hijacked."
>"That's..."
"I know, it's not heard of. We've never had the Mushroom Kingdom actually fight back!"
>"That can only mean..."

>"The Mario Brothers are stepping up their game!"
>"Those icky black Fury Plague things are already there..."
>"That Princess is one badass dame..."

>It's the Fury Plague
-----
>"The only threat big enough to down our ships would be those nasty black zombie guys."
"Our thoughts exactly."
"The thought of those...things...taking out our ships... All our allies... Lord Bowser..."
>"You really think the Koopa King would get taken out by some puddles of black sludge?"
"Well, no, but-"
>"But nuthin'. I bet those airships were packed with chumps."
"C-chumps or not, General, they're our soldiers! Our friends! We should immediately get down there and save them!"
"...It's probably already too late, Cadet."
"Gom's right, we should head for the castle and get to Lord Bowser while we have the chance. Finish the mission."
>"Hmm..."
-----
Wow, this road trip's getting kinda heavy. Dunno how long those other airships can hold out, but the King could already be at the castle with no backup! It's time for a battle plan...

>Respond to the distress beacons!
>Prove your loyalty to the King!
>Take a third option and level up to the West
>>
>>3490681
>Respond to the distress beacons!
Our job is to cause mayhem around the castle, so we can cause a little extra mayhem while checking out the damage. It could even be potential threats to the mission.

>No Goomba Left Behind
I couldn't agree more.
-----
>"Cadet, where's the intercom on this thing?"
"T-the big red button on the console, General. Just hold it down and the whole ship will hear you."
-----
Well, nobody has to tell me to press a red button twice. Red buttons are the superior buttons. Why anyone would make a button any other color is beyond me.
-----
"This is General Goomba, addressing the Verde La Sol at large. All personnel onboard, listen up! Airships in the Koopa Troop armada are under fire or worse, and it jeopardizes both our primary mission and the lives of hundreds of Minions in this quadrant of the Mushroom Kingdom. With that in mind we are switching focus to Search and Rescue until further notice. Lord Bowser deserves a full fleet of ships to greet him at the rendezvous point, and we'll give our damnedest to bring it to 'im. All hands to battlestations; we ship out in two minutes."
-----
I can hear moderate cheering from across the hall. Sounds like Toadsby and Private SMB whooping it up. The Engineers run off to prep the propeller, and the Cadet starts charting our course. I'm really starting to like this job.

Both blood red Bullet Bills swish right past us. Sweet navigating, me! Cadet Guy seems less enthused.

"T-the Bullet Bills weren't the ballistics, they were the carriers!"
>"...Carriers?"
"T-that Black Sludgey Stuff was dripping all over them, and NOW ITS ON THE SHIP!"
>"Where did they land, Cadet?"
"There's a few puddles on the Deck, b-but they're growing!"
-----
We don't have long until that junk spreads to the whole ship! What do we do?

We head back into the mountains, maybe we can see what these two ships are under before we commit. To our North sits the Rosa Day, presumably still fighting off the Plague. It takes a lot of boring coding-type stuff from Cadet, but he finds some transmission logs from before the distress signal was sent. It's mostly some red Magikoopa talking into the camera.

"This is the Rosa Day, codename Pink Sunrise, reporting. Red Leader calling in. Operation Bowser's Tail is underway. Status report, Golden Trickster."
"This is the Amarillo Surprise, codename Golden Trickster, responding. We have met resistance by an unusual army hailing from the Northeast that has slowed our progress. Requesting assistance."

"This is the Rosa Day, codename Pink Sunrise, hailing Wizard o' the Wind. Operation Bowser's Tail is complete. Princess Peach's Castle is in sight. Requesting orders."
"This is the Wizard o' the Wind responding. Quit being dinks, Rosa Day. Lord Bowser is getting antsy. Go make sure the coast is-"
"...Wizard? Come in Wizard!"
"...Confirm visibility, Rosa Day."
"...An unidentified army is on the Castle Grounds."
"Confirmed, Rosa Day. Lord Bowser wants to deal with it personally. This is his dance floor and he doesn't like to share. Provide backup immediately. Over and out."

The transmissions end here. Looks like Lord Bowser and the Rosa Day did get into a big fight. At the least our maps indicate that the Castle is not under Fury control.

The level that white fuzzies show up in in Yoshi's Island is named LSD in the German translation. And as someone who's been to therapy and gotten drugged up for my issues a therapist that gets you high seemed like a hilariously appropriate character. Or characters, in this case.

The Sisters go to comfort the new guy, and the Engineers take a shot at the boss. One of those Lantern guys gets a wee shot in as well.

-----
"What goes up must come down! ...Except the Sisters and Scary. They can float for as long as they want. Maybe even... Never mind."

The only thing worse than 12 hour shifts are 13 hour shifts. It's been a bad couple of days. For the record, I noticed the Goomba Tower shouldn't be able to attack but I let it go since it was a fake-out anyway. The Lantern Ghosts are NPCs, and we all know NPCs cheat like crazy. It's hard to describe what a beam of pure happiness looks like, or how awesome it looks coming out of a rookie dinosaur. It didn't vaporize the plant, but it knocked it off the ship and into the abyss from whence it came. Landing in a sea of Fury, it disappears in a gurgling cacophony, and then silence. >Funeral Blues
It doesn't take long to organize everyone. We're already outside and there were only a few boards of the old ship left. As per tradition, the ship's Captain is to relieve her of duty and burn her to cinders. This falls onto Shifty.
-----
"The Shock Azul... served the Koopa Troop for almost a decade. She had seen four kidnappings, seventeen sieges, and cost the Mario Brothers eleven lives. On my time aboard her I have had the good fortune to see most of it as a Shift Manager. Fate has deigned me her final Captain, and as such I commend her to the winds of the kingdom we shall one day rule. Shock Azul, codename Blue Thunder. Our Cerulean Bolt of Battle. With these flames you are discharged with honor and distinction."
-----
As Shift Guard lights the pile of blue boards aflame I look about the Deck. His crew rallies around him to keep the wind from extinguishing the funeral pyre. Rex is being consoled by the docs, he looks like he's about to bawl his eyes out. SMB and Magikeven, ever the odd pair, stand stone silent and respectfully watch from a distance. The Scouts look like they've seen a ship funeral before, standing to the side like a proper procession. The Engineers and Toadsby watch the horizon as the ashes float away. Our new pet and Pathik seem to understand that this is a serious moment, and quietly do pet things out of the way.

We haven't really gotten to talk much to this new fella. It's been a whirlwind of activity up here. At any rate he's over in the Sisters' room (with the door OPEN, we had a meeting about that). The smell is less strong, but his eyes are still pretty red. Most likely from crying. Sure, that's it.

Computers are the most fun thing in the world! I mean, there's porn, and probably other stuff too. We're there before long, in the Supercomputer room. Same old servers and whats-its. Unusually, Cadet Guy isn't here running it.

"What does a warship need one of these for?"
>"Dunno. But we got one!"
"And..what do you plan...to do with it now?"
>"Fun stuff!"
"...Like what?"
>"Hey, someone left our Intelligence Reports open! Hey, our stocks are up four coins. Nice."
"Hmm... I guess we could cruise around the net for a bit..."

Rex takes command of the computer and starts pulling up weird cartoons. Gotta admit, they're pretty funny and he seems to be cheering up.

>Get him to pull up Twitter, see who he follows
>Watch some music videos
>Bootleg old cartoon episodes that haven't been taken down yet

Also just noticed that this thread is already open in on of the tabs, so my suggestion doesn't even really matter.
Oh well.
