You are Ushi Walker, soon to be know as Loanstar, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A. High first year student and currently a nervous first responder.

The comparatively tiny car pile-up in front of you may just be a part of a training exercise in the dark but you refuse to not take it seriously, knowing that gaming the rules is no way to learn anything.

Having heard Earphone Jack just notify you that there were a handful of civilian-representing robots still trapped within the pile-up, you call for your partner's attention.

"Hang on a second!" You tell your partner, bringing your hands to your head and massaging your temples, keeping your car sized maglite pointed down. "Gotta think this through, don'tcha think?"

>"We don't have the time!" She replies, waving her arm around and pointing at the scene surrounding you, which to you looks fairly close to a hobby shop after an earthquake from your vantage point.

It only makes sense to take a deep breath and analyze the situation.
Some cars look to be still vibrating, with a few of their lights clinging to dear life thanks to the running engines, and if the smell of gas wasn't playing tricks on you, more cars were coming to the scene.

Thus, you formulate a plan. With most of the still working robots were already watching from the sidewalk by the opposite lane, far enough from the accident, it seems logical to assume.

"Ah reckon EMS would rather deal with some bruises and dizziness than burn victims..." You tell Earphone Jack, taking your hands away from your face and taking the glowsticks out of your belt without waiting for an answer. "Ah''ll get to turnin' off the cars, you go get everyone who can move to the sidewalk calmly, then get to do some triage-in'. Ah'll take care of this mess here!"

>"Got it!" She answers with a yell, starting to herd the remaining moving robots out of the danger zone, patting the stragglers on the back, and helping along the ones with minor to medium damage, be it slight scorching or bumps on their plating.

For your part, you take a step to the save area and plant two enlarged chemlights on the grass next to the sidewalk, the green one and the yellow one, nodding to Kyoka as you do.

Having made an effort to help her with both illumination and organization, you put your hand on your thigh and shrink yourself back to your normal size, looking over the smoking mock-cars and wincing at the gas, burnt rubber smell and the banging and muffled screaming from the crushed mock-car under the others. Obviously digital, but still blood curling.

From up close you notice that though the rough car-frames look bent, you should be able to pull it open, if you didn't have to hold on to your maglite. For a second, you consider lodging the flashlight somewhere, looking down at your star, then up to your horns.

Then you just turn it off and blindly pull out another chemlight off your belt and out it in your mouth, biting on it hard to activate it's red glow.

After that, you endure the civilian-bot's cries for a few seconds more, dashing into every mock-car you can and pushing the ignition buttons off as fast as you can before stepping back and reevaluating the situation.

>"Good news. Not counting internal bleeding, I don't think anyone here's dying." You hear Kyoka's voice through the small radio in your ear. "Will need an ambulance ASAP tho."

>"Hit and run dealt with, if anyone cares. A nice zap and Grape Juice here was free to get them all stuck together!" Chargebolt says through the radio as well, surprising you. "The villain robots said they left their victims tied up though, so we are about to go check on that though."

>"Call the police. Don't ever leave villains alone!" Creati adds then, surprising you further. "The fire here has been suppressed. I don't think the damage was catastrophic over all, but I evacuated the hotel as a precaution. Turns out it was… a child... with a fire quirk trying to create a light source and ended up setting a bed ablaze."

A bit confused, but relieved to know everyone was doing well, you spit out the chemlight and press your finger to your ear to speak.

"EJ, pal, Ah need a hand over here." You say, pressing your hand to your thigh and slowly enlarging yourself once more, ready to finally undo the mock-car pile-up. "Ah'll pick 'em up, can ya check on the civvies?"

>"Be right there." She answers, immediately complying. Not all that surprising, being that she was about two hundred feet away.

Just as planned, lifting the mock-cars up isn't hard at all when standing at 52 feet tall, but…

>"...These really need an ambulance." You hear Earphone Jack say, not yelling it under you, but through the radio, whispering. Then you hear her speak normally. "Don't worry, the worst is over, the ambulance it's on their way."

"So..." You say whisper back into the radio, putting the mock-cars down. "Umh… Red?"

You only know some basic triage, but so far everyone seemed to be in either "will be okay later" or "needs a doc soon" camp. These seemed to be the first in "bring a bodybag" territory...

>"Not sure, but I wouldn't put this one anywhere over a very dark orange, if you know what I mean." Kyoka answers.

I give thanks to Christ and Cow. Thank you Mic, you helped spread the glory of Snu-Snu to the uncultured masses when no one else would. With the energy you provided to the great ritual, the last few chapters of the manga have been based and blessed. Our divine power may have even killed Togafag if the unbelievable drop in Toga posting is an indicator.

As you shrink back down to your normal size, you can't help but to think about what to do now. Part of you wants nothing more than to dig around your belt for some tools and get the robot back to a jerry-rigged working order, but that'd be cheating in all but name.

Kinda like playing hot potato with what's supposed to be a nuke. You still haven't forgotten about that.

Your other ideas aren't much better though.

While leaving it to it's fate and looking for someone else to help would be the most mechanically efficient path you can see, it feels like it'd be very inhumane to do to a person so you discard that train of thought.

The last idea is the one your moral compass point to, despite your head telling you how you've always known you are a terrible liar.

You can't move an injured victim around, but you can calm them and reassure them till the ambulance arrives, right? You don't have to lie after all, Midnight gave you some tips on how to dance around the truth… Which you thought would be used to deal with interviews and fans, not this.

But what's right is right, and you can't claim that you want to be a hero in good conscience if you aren't willing to do it.

"Heya.~" You greet the heavily damaged robot, putting on your well practiced mask of confidence and bravado. If stress calls stress, calm begets calm.

"Why don'tcha go look over the rest. Get 'em nice and ready for transport, you know?" You say, nodding at Earphone Jack before kneeling in front of the robot, looking at it closely.

It's not that you don't want her there with you, but having both of you there would only make them more nervous.

It's clearly crushed, with the tube-like structure that once gave it the ability to turn its head 360° bent and shattered, with the torso plating crushed inwards. It seems that this one ended between the dashboard and the collapsing roof of the crushed car. Without opening it up, you can only guess what the actual damage is, but at least its battery isn't leaking out in any visible way, making it somewhat safe to approach.

However, you can see what Kyoka meant. The poor thing's speech is completely unintelligible, leading you to believe its speakers membrane was torn apart. In the same vein, it doesn't look like it can move other than it's left arm, which it violently swings up and down as it continues to shriek, smashing the arm against the mock-car frame, damaging both the frame and its own arm.

"Hey… Hey…" You tell the robot, positioning yourself to be within its line of sight. Once you are sure that the robot is able to see you, you start taking deep breaths. "The heroes are here and the ambulance is on its way, we just need you to breath and calm down, don'tcha overexert yourself pal, you've got nothin' to worry 'bout."
>>

After that, you just put your hand in the path of its swinging arm, taking the stinging hit with a straight and calm face.

"Stop movin' sugar." You tell it, softly holding its arm. Not enough to cause further harm if it tries to snatch it off your grasp, but hard enough to stop it from smashing itself. It seems to work, as the robot stops swinging. The arm still shakes in your hand though. "Keep calm and think 'bout everyone who'll come see ya at the hospital. Ah reckon your momma and pa will be there… Maybe a special other as well?..."

Talking. Never your strong suit, but you keep doing it for five minutes straight, talking about a well lived life the robot may have lived as if you knew about it, of school experiences you have yet to have or may never actually have, until the ambulances shows up.

You should have expected it, but it's the same kind of stretcher robots as the ones you've seen before that come pick the robot up.

Then All Might's voice booms through your radio, almost making you jump.

"GOOD JOB EVERYONE, BUT TIME'S UP!" He says, signalling the end of the exercise as the same time as the lights turn on.

>"Wait, it's already over?" You hear Grape Juice say through the radio.

>"I think we did well enough." Chargebolt adds. "We stopped four villains and saved a couple civilians."

>"...Did they solve two crises?" Creati asks, somewhat bewildered.

>"You saved an hotel and we saved a dozen civvies!" Earphone Jack argues. "That's gotta be worth more, right?"

You don't comment, choosing to look an awe at how most robots pick themselves up and start retreating, reminding you how they don't actually feel pain, all while the mock-cars start-up by themselves and drive away, back to wherever they came.

Not all though. A couple of 1 and 2 pointers come to pick-up the remaining mock-up cars and dragging them away, resetting the fake city scenario before your eyes.

When you finally reunite with the rest of your team, at the entrance you can't help but jump at Tin when he arrives trailing Momo, hugging the robot and climbing onto its back.

"Well young ones! That's one way to do it." All Might comments, showing your scores on a screen. "Managed to solve crises 1, 3, 4 and 8! That's quite the high bar you've set for your classmates!

Walker:8
Jiro:8
Yaoyorozu:8
Kaminari:12
Mineta:12

While the later two seem excited about their scores, Momo looked fairly disappointed, while Kyoka just looked annoyed at Mineta and Kaminari's cheer.

>"Generally, first year students tend to either overstretch themselves or stay in one massive and ineffective cluster." Cementoss comments.

Not having to actually do anything but watch, it's not hard to let yourself feel entranced by the spectacle of your classmates trying to solve roughly the same situations your team dealt with, with various shining spots that demanded commentary.

…For different reasons.

"Huh. I thought you couldn't argue with robots." You hear Kaminari say near you, not quite as flabbergasted as the rest you.

>"That's not meant to happen." Cementoss says in disbelief, as you all watch Deku finish talking down a cape wearing robot from its soapbox.

"Ah reckon it did tho'." You point out, pointing at the facts on the screen from Tin's back. "...But what in tarnation was that?"

"Well, young Walker. That's Crisis 5." All Might explains, chuckling. "A doom saying robot that does nothing but hurl threats and speaking like it's all going to come crashing down back to how it was in the last dark age…"

>"A red herring, then." Momo asserts with a sharp nod. "Am I right to assume it to be panic inducer at the very worst, meant to be just a waste of time?"

"You'd be correct, young Yaoyorozu!" The hero replies, chuckling once more. "But it seems young Midoriya chose to address it and make it see reason!"

It is, for a second, a heartwarming moment. You have no audio, but the screens have enough resolution to show the green-haired boy pat the robot on the would-be shoulder before placing his hands on his hips, throwing his head back and seemingly laughing boastfully.

>"Not much else he can do without tearing himself a new one." Bakugo points out, scoffing and ruining the moment.

If you were to hold grudges, you could later point out how he didn't do anything special on his own trial while Deku did score some extra points. In fact, the most remarkable moment from his team's run was watching Anima deal with the injured while the rest of his team quickly dismantled Crisis 8, the pile-up, as a group before moving on as a well coordinated unit.

Shoto's team, on the other hand, moved more like a single being, with the team riding on and moving around Dark Shadow's massive frame, reigned in by sudden flashes of Can't Stop Twinkling's laser and Shoto's fire. A frightening sight.

But by the end of the school day you are ready to leave, with new notes in your notebooks, your tiny robot in your bag and an invigorating martial training class in the near future, you take a moment to look around your classroom, seeing everyone ready to leave.

With only one nearby train station, it'd be easy to walk and talk with someone if you wanted to...

If we’re doing this, let’s review:
We appreciate the concern, but it has an unwanted effect and tone. We’re not mad at her but want to assert that we don’t want anyone tiptoeing around us, we want to become a better communicator.

You wave at your friends as they leave the classroom, grabbing your bag and slinging it over your shoulder before making your way towards the school's gate in a hurry.

You feel like something needs to be done, but with interpersonal relationships being at the very top of the list of "things Ushi Walker sucks at" right next to baking sweets and wearing heels, you need a minute of thought.

That memo has been eating at your self esteem since you learned of it, but do you really want to strain your new friendships?

"Ah mean… Ah've had worse…" You mutter as you navigate the corridors of the heroics tower, trying to not bump into too many people as you do, distracted by the ever present memories of middle school.

Being the butt of some hurtful jokes and having your everyone talk down to you is just a price to pay to have more friends than you ever had...

"But Ah don't wanna do that..." You argue with yourself, coming to lean against the school gates and scratching the soft back of your ear, to help you think.

One of the best reasons to come to Japan with your Momma was to start anew, meet new people and become the woman you want to be, and settling for pity won't cut it.

...And because being in a heroics class means that you only meet other heroics students on your way to the school gates, thanks to your longer class days, it's not hard to spot Kyoka walking towards the gates. Just perfect.

You wave at her as she approaches, and she returns the gesture.

>"Hey." She says with a nod as you approach her, still thinking your words through.

TFW you pick an option that is bound to fail because it's the IC thing for the character to do, feels bad.

Having greeted her, you nod at her and start walking by her side.

You already know you need to address this right now, you completely failed to notice the fact that "right now" doesn't include the time to think what in God's green earth are you going to say, something you immediately trip on as you approach her, shutting your piehole immediately after opening it.

Nothing to do but being terribly awkward and look at your feet for the first block of your walk towards the train station.

>"...So, you got any-" Kyoka starts trying to make some small talk as you think, taking out her phone and handlessly connecting one of her jacks into it. "Oh, right. You do extra training on wednesdays..."

"Uh-huh, wrestling, yeah." You mindlessly, your nerves trying to make up a coherent argument for your feelings.

>"...Got more time to yourself now though." She tries again, pointing at you with a finger gun. "You gotta have plans for the time you used to clean the homeroom last week!"

"Nah, studyin', trainin' some more." You answer emotionlessly, not lying but not really following the conversation.

This seems to start getting on her nerves a bit, making her speed up her walk, which takes you literally no effort to match again thanks to your longer stride.

>"...Got any thumping motivational tracks to pump iron to?" She attempts again, smacking your arm for some sort of genuine reaction.

You've hurt yourself far worse than that.

"Nah. Bass hurts mah ears…" You answer, giving her a dispassionate but short half-truth, still staring at the tips of your shoes as your brain keeps looping.

You can't be physical about this. She's so used to you that trying to dazzle her with your wiles would get the cops involved. You don't know what to say, but you can't be physical about this-

Thankfully, the loop is quickly broken, not by a flash of brilliance, but by a finger jammed straight into your sternum, as Kyoka turns around and stands before you.

>"Alright, give it up. Who did what to you?" She asks as she stops you with a finger, half mad, yet visibly worried. "Tell me all about it."

Suddenly, being the second tallest girl in the class doesn't mean anything as you are confronted by the second tiniest girl in it, demanding an answer you are growing desperate to give.

"You." You suddenly blurt out, struggling to avoid jamming your hand in when you covered your mouth right after. You can only be thankful that there's barely anything still around.

>"...What?" She asks, taking a step back and looking at you with wide eyes.

You freeze for an instant, unsure of what to do or say… Then just let your mouth run, taking it all of your chest. Might as well get hanged for a sheep as a lamb.

"Hey, Uhm…" You start, pausing for a deep breath. "Ah appreciate the text you sent to everyone…"

There's a clear flash of shock on her face the moment you mention the memo, but you carry on. Tarrying will do you no good.
>>
"Ah mean, thanks for the concern, sugar!" You palliate, waving your hands in front of your face. "But Ah don't wanna be coddled when Ah act like the hick Ah Ah'm sumtimes… Not mad or anythin', but Ah reckon' Ah won't learn a darn thing if no one tells when Ah do it."

For some reason, saying it more out of you than your jog earlier this week, almost leaving you panting to regain your breath. But it is done and despite the new knot on your stomachs reminding you how worried you are about the coming few minutes, the weight in your heart about the memo all but goes away.

You won't forget it, but it doesn't feel as bad anymore.

>"Ha, great!" Kyoka chortles, pressing her palm against her forehead. "You- The fuck am I saying, it's not your fault."

"Wha?" You ask, tilting your head to the left in confusion.

>"I ran away from your birthday, bad-mouth you and then this." She sort-of explains, slumping her shoulders and turning around, walking away. "I'm sorry. I'll leave you alone now."

But you follow.

>"...And you need to go to the same station." She then realizes, huffing and stopping, leaning on a wall. "Go ahead, I'll wait here for a while."

"Why?" You ask her, just as confused as before, standing before her.

>"You can clearly do better without me herding you around." She says, then closes her mouth so fast you can hear her teeth clack, covering her face with her hands.

She may cover it, but you can smell the salt. And you know it's not sweat.

So, you reach out and and hug her, suppressing your surprise at being able to grab your forearms.

"Don't be silly." You tell her as you hug her. "The last thing Ah want is to lose a good pal!"

It's a quick hug, but it's all that it takes to show that you don't hate her.

>"Sorry…" She says, covering her face for a few more seconds, subtly dragging her sleeves around her eyes. "You must think I'm just a well meaning idiot then."

"Takes one to know one!" You quip letting the tip of your tongue out, trying to cheer her up.

If what you heard was a chuckle, you did it.

>"I guess I just need to learn to hold my tongue." She comments, rolling her jack's living wire around one of her index fingers. "No grudges?"

I will try. Assume you already know about the Hero Academia universe.
>Ushi Walker is half american half Japanese mutant. Resembles a cow.
>Moves from texas to japan with Mom, also a cow, to escape bullying over being a cow.
>Enrolls in Hero Academia to become a Hero. Has power of changing sizes krf people and things.
Fun ensues due to combination of:
>Altering character dynamics and arcs from the source material
>Seeing the original protagonist, Midoriya, go through his own arc tangentally.
>Being Big Texas fish out of water in most honoraburu and trendy japan.
>Super power battles with Size Changing
>Schoolgirl socializing, recreation, and shipping.
>Boob jokes.

Present Mic keeps it going through adherence to the source's style and themes, rapid pacing and rationing of scenes, a personal arc for Ushi to wrestle with, and using the ORE dice system to keep us on our toes.
>>
>>3509722
We're playing an OC character in MHA, replacing Ochiro (it was a random roll of less-important characters) in class 1-A. Ushi started out as mostly a collection of "anime Westerner" cloches, but between some excellent roleplaying on both the audience and Present Mic's parts she's grown into something more. Ushi is a girl with a lot of insecurities about herself owing from not having a lot of social experience and what little she's had being negative up until now, who covers up for it by playing the role of the confident flirtatious cowgirl. Mechanically this is represented by her having five dice in the Guts stat, letting her power through fear and pain and exhaustion with ease (and many of her best moments in the quest have involved her doing so, like when her main contribution at USJ was diving back into danger over and over to rescue other classmates). However, she only has two dice in Face, meaning that even with a best of three rolls she only has a 27% chance of succeeding in any meaningful social situation, and she actually started the quest with only one die, making it a mathematical impossibility under this system.

So what you get is an OC that most of the class likes, but who no one is really close to, because she tends to put her foot in her mouth. It's obvious she's not trying to, but it still hurts people's feelings. Uraraka has even kind of grown to despise Ushi, in fact, Ushi tries to be nice to her but keeps screwing things up along the way. The only member of the class Ushi has relationship dice with specifically (though she does have a generalized "The Gals" relationship representing that her female classmates do like her even if they find her trying) is Todoroki, who she met before actually coming to UA and who she befriended so he wouldn't have to deal with his father alone. It's that 5d Guts, she doesn't back down from the terrifying fire-man threatening to do awful things to her if she reveals how he treats his family.

In terms of plot contributions, Ushi hasn't done a lot yet. We've just gotten done with the UA Sports Festival. Ushi actually won that, there were some hard rolls but it made things all the more satisfying. It was a pretty good arc. A lot of the quest has been about character moments rather than grand plot arcs, too, so she hasn't really disrupted anything. She showed valor at USJ and saved a lot of people, but no one that wouldn't have been saved in canon. Her biggest change to canon has been that from being a friend to Shoto she's slowly encouraged him to embrace his fire rather than Deku ripping the bandage off with a big dramatic speech. So it should be interesting to see how that alters their dynamic.
>>
>>3509866
>boob jokes
Well, yes, but only second to bread jokes
>>
>>3509877
We should get more Guts when we have the chance, being able to tank stupid amounts of abuse is always useful.
>>
>>3509922
We're basically at the max. Like, buff all might has guts 6. It's a scale of 5 and we have 5
>>
>>3509926
Yeah, five dots in a stat or skill is human maximum in ORE. You're not going over that unless you've got a power for it.

What kind of question was that? You more than anyone know how it feels to have good intentions and then thoroughly fuck it up.

"None at all! Just watch the mooin', udders, herdin' and such comments and we'll be fine as rain!" You tell her, counting up to three with your fingers as ou talk.

>"You got it!" She quickly replies, flashing a smile.

And that's all you really need to hear, throwing your arm over her shoulder and pulling her close for another quick hug.

"Ah really gotta get movin' now. See ya!" You tell her as you start moving once more, thinking about how brutal Spring Tiger was the first class you had with her, and how that was just incidental.

You don't want to know what she'd do if you get there late with any excuse short of the USJ incident.

Still, after such a touching moment, it's hard not to feel guilty for having to run away...

Then you look besides you, seeing Kyoka lightly jogging by your side, keeping up the pace.

>"Same station, remember?" She points out, getting a nervous giggle out of you.

"Right-o." You reply, adjusting your grip on your backpacks straps. "...Ah really like Eye of the Tiger and Push it to the Limit."

>"Uh?" She lets out at you sudden comment.

"Training songs, sugar!" You point out, lowering your stance and pivoting on your feet as you cover your face with your forearms before throwing a couple punches at the empty air. "Ah can't stand heavy bass, but Ah'll be damn if them old songs don't get mah blood pumpin'!"

>"How are they spelled?" Kyoka then asks, with her phone in her hand and fiddling with the keyboard, now showing the latin alphabet.

"Hand it over sugar." You tell her, softly taking her rather new phone to look up a song older than any relatives you've ever know on a spring afternoon in Japan. Life can be crazy sometimes. "Enjoy! Just don't go blastin' it in public or anythin'. Ah hate when people do that."

It only takes a fraction of a second for you to realize who you had told that to, allowing you to feel the bead of sweat rolling down your brow.

The deadpan stare that follows as she just goes and plugs one of her jacks back into the phone-

But she doesn't do that. There's no mocking stare or laugher at your slip up. Instead, she pats the outer pockets of her school bag and pulls out a small dongle, the kind you've seen others use to connect more than a single pair of headphones to the same device.

>"Wanna share?" She asks, plugging it into her phone and pointing at you with it.

"...That's a first." You let out before digging in your backpack for your earbuds. Most over the ear headphones bump unpleasantly against your horns. "But sure!"

For the next twenty minutes, both of you walk shoulder to shoulder, humming and taking turns picking songs, showing each other what you like to hear.

By the time you have to part ways, you have learned that there's not one genre of music she's locked on to. She does prefer grunge and punk, but your jaw almost unhinged when she started singing Country Roads in japanese under her breath.

You don't know if she knows you know, but you weren't going to let her know if she didn't already know.

After that, it's just waiting to get to your stop and then legging it to the dojo.

Which looks somewhat different now. There's never been litter outside the door before…

Looking at the trash, most of it seems to be printed frames of your small speech at the end of the Sports Festival, with close captions near the bottom. A few more seem to be about a church urging people to not follow you, and a single one seems to be the exact freezeframe of when Shoto struck your seat as you tumbled on the ring.

You make a point of stomping on that last one until it's just paper pulp.

"Spring Tiger-sensei?" You ask as you peek through the front door. "Ah don't think Ah'm late but-"

>"She's here!" The familiar voice of the bug-masked janitor interrupts you, appearing to be pushing her mop cart from a sideroom.

The inside of the dojo doesn't look any different though, as everything looks as well kept as before… But your nose isn't fooled. There's too many new smells, many, many new people sweated and bled in this large room.

Right behind her then comes Spring Tiger herself, almost shoving the janitor into her bucket as she prowls towards you. There's no other word fo it, as a primal part of your brain calls for you to decide between goring her or turning around and pumping your legs for all they are worth.

Of course, you do neither, but you kind of expect her to maul you anyway.

>"351." She says as she approaches, murder in her eyes. "I've tested 351 people coming to train here with you!"

"That's… That's great for busine-?" You tentatively interject, trying to put a positive spin on that.

>"Walker." Spring Tiger cuts you short. "This isn't a fucking McDojo. We handpick those we teach! I had to unplug the phone!"

"You have a landline?" You ask, confused.

>"Not the fucking point!" She says, throwing her arms up and roaring, almost making you lose your balance and fall on your seat. "Do you know how many of those 351 made the cut? Eleven!"

"Ah didn't mean to-" You try to speak out, but are cut short again.

>"I know you didn't, damn it!" She shouts in your face. "I'm venting!"

You can only stand there, stunned until she simmers down some more.

>"Normally, we get hopeful kids trying to be like a puroresu star, trying to beat up a bully or impress someone. Maybe some cop or security guy that wants to go beyond their duty for their work." She says, massaging her temples over her mask. "Now I had to deal with a hundred horny teens looking to spend an afternoon with "the thick american cow in tight clothes", a hundred and fifty spoiled brats whose parents thought I could get their kids into U.A. and about fifty teenagers thinking they could come here to beat you up on a ring and prove something. And none of them were worth the time! There was even a guy nailing a flier on the door I had to call the cops on!"

"...Do Ah need to apologize?" You ask, holding a fist in your palm, ready to bow.

>"No way you silly kitty." She answers, sounding far more like the bubbly teacher you recall from your previous visits. "If you are going to go around as a Tiger rep., you need to start conveying what training here means."

You flex at that, literally. You were pretty sure you looked the part.

>"Not looks, you beefslab." She says, slapping your arm back down. "I want you to have a really clear picture about what kind of den this is before recommending us to anyone."

That puzzles you, something your sensei picks up immediately.

>"This class, you are going to do everything." She states, crossing her arms. "Strikes, laps, weights, jumps, bars and locks. I have your stats from your previous classes and I know what your limits are. I'll have you push them all, until you are too tired to change back before leaving. I want you to be able to relay that to those who ask!"

This is actually a pretty sweet quest. Kinda wish I' been around when it started, or that I hadn't been ignoring it for a while now. Missed opportunities.

So I just read through the archive, and despite seeing multiple examples of it's function, along with mic's explanations, I honestly don't understand the mechanics, which I figure I probably should if I want to be able to make informed decisions as a player going forward.

Any fellow players care to take sympathy on a poor retard and help me figure this shit out?

So I get that the number of dice we roll seems to be based on our stat pool, and sometimes with other earned dice, and I get that we are looking for pairs, but some of these rolls just make no sense to me, particularly during combat sequences. It feels like the dice pool fluctuates a lot in those, and I'm sure there's a rhyme and a reason to it, but I honestly can't seem to figure out why sometimes we are rolling more or sometimes we are rolling less. Shit makes no sense to me whatsoever since it's ostensibly based on the same stat pools each time.
>>
>>3510708
You can take damage to your stats, reducing the number of dice you get to roll so that combat makes you weaker if you start losing. For instance, if I clobber you in the back of the head with a suitcase full of bricks, you're probably going to get a concussion and take some Brains damage.
>>
>>3510708
Try reading this: https://pastebin.com/Ah3xGziv

So to answer some of your questions. We aren't looking for pairs so much as looking for matching sets. The more of a matching number is rolled the faster the action is accomplished. So say if you rolled 4 dice and you got 4 ones then you succeed, but there is something bad that happens because ones have a cost. Tens function similarly in that if you roll a matching set of tens then you succeed with an extra benefit like a critical roll in some systems.
>>
>>3510710

Thank you anon, for answering this poor idjit.

>>3510711

Thank you anon. Don't know how I missed this. That helped a lot, but I still have a question. Which is related to the previous anons answer as well.

So I did see where things took damage, like damage to hands or feet or guts etc. That I get, but there are instances where the dice pool fluctuates where there has been not damage take to cause the fluctuation. Usually when anons try to make really complex actions. Is that a relevant thing? How complex the action you take is?
>>
>>3510714
You can take multiple actions at the same time, but it comes with a minus dice penalty with each action after the first. So, yes the more complex action you try to take in combat on the fly has a cost. The way to avoid this cost are things like signature moves and practicing maneuvers like during training or gaining relevant skills like how Ushi is learning wrestling.

Sometimes you might get a situational modifier, for example attacking an enemy we get the drop on

Conversely, sometimes we take stat damage that lowers the pool

Other times it's from relationships (RD) which are an incredibly important mechanic, Basically if it's related to something or someone we have an important emotional connection to, we can risk our relationship by adding our RD to the pool, if we win, great, if we lose, we take relationship damage as we feel we've let that person or ideal down

It won't be the last time you get home black and blue all over, and pushing your limits sounds like the exact kind of thing you are here for.

"Let's do it! Ah beat Ah can break some of those!" You say somewhat smugly, blowing a poof of steam off your nose.

>"Great, now go get changed!" Spring Tiger says, grabbing your shoulders and shoving you in the right direction.

You don't know what Spring Tiger has in store for you, but considering you are about to find out, you don't mind that. Instead, you just enter the changing room with your head halfway into your backpack.

You know your mask is waiting for you on the wall, but you need need to look where in your rugged backpack did your shrunken striped outfit end after a day of bouncing around.

Or better yet, ask for it.

"Hey Tin, mind fetchin' my trainin' outfit?" You say into your backpack as you walk.

>"Here it is, Mistress." The tiny robot instantly replies, rolling out of what you now call Tin's Pouch and pulling your rolled up top and leggings out of a small pen-sized pocket with its tail claw.

>"You got a slave in there?" An unknown female voice asks behind you, making you quickly turn around.

"No! It's mah friend!" You immediately answer, trying to face the speaker… For predictable reasons, she looks like the inside of your backpack. "...Hang on a second."

>"Damn, you are cute." She says, as you take the backpack off, with half of your messy golden hair falling over your face, prompting you to blow it away to see anything.

After blinking a few times, you can finally see the woman in front of you.

She sports short, bright red hair and red eyes, standing at least five inches taller than you, which doesn't even faze you, but you need to stare for a second to take in how large she is.

Having only trained in one-on-one sessions with Spring Tiger, it takes you a moment to make the connection between buff gal and the fact that she's in the dojo. The gym bag slung over her shoulder should have given it away earlier.

>"My class starts right after yours, but I thought I could show up early and watch the champ in action." She says, looking you up and down as she speaks, standing just outside the changing room doorframe.

Right…

"Ah'm Walker Ushi, nice to meetcha?" You greet her with a handshake and a smile.

>"Akahoshi Nariko, seventeen, so a minor too." She answers, shaking your hand and returning the smile and making the hair in the back of your neck stand on edge.

It almost hurts your hand, not because of her grip strength, but because her hand is uncomfortably hot, explaining your unease. That's as obvious a fire related quirk as they come.

You then take your outfit and enlarge it back to normal, unrolling it in front of her and making clear that you are about to change.

But she must be on your league of obliviousness, as she just stands there and watches as you grab the doorknob and slowly close it in her face.
>>
Changing doesn't' take you more than a minute, after which you return to the main room of the dojo, with Akahoshi trailing you.

It only took about five minutes, but Spring Tiger didn't waste a single one of them, not only propping up the impact sensor mannequin in the ring and the tire used to practice bouncing on your feet and footwork, but she's also finishing setting up the bar with what looks to be eight 45lbs weight plates.

You don't know whether to feel intimidated or flattered at that.

>"Overhead squats, hang shrugs, normal squats, pull-ups, calf raises, bench presses, barbell curls, chin-ups, and clap push-ups should cover the basics." She points out as she sees you.

"Ah reckon that's a fair bit more than usual, but Ah can take it!" You boast, looking at the loaded bar and bench.

>"That's the spirit!" She says, pointing to the other end of the room, where the more esoteric gym machinery was. "Wouldn't want to exhaust you before you hit the leg press and the 4 way neck machine."

"Never used that one befo-" You try to comment before being cut off

>"Don't worry about finishing too fast, after you are done, you'll be running laps around until your time's up." She finishes. "Any questions before I go ask Akahoshi why she's almost two hours early?"

There's a certain steely tone in her voice that makes it sound equal parts threat and question, but you still speak up.

"...Where do Ah start?" You ask her, then again. "And when do Ah stop?"

>"Anything but the laps, but tell me when you are about to bench press, I don't want to explain to your mom what happened to your other horn." She points out before addressing your second question. "And you stop when I tell you to. Do it well and it only should be a few minutes per exercise."

"Right-o..." You say, tapping your chin and looking at your assortment of tasks, glancing to the side to see your sensei talk down a girl almost a foot taller than her.

Much like you momma told you years ago, your back got naturally stronger as you aged, for pretty obvious reasons. That made training from your waist up far less tedious than what you had read it would take.

Not that you haven't spent over a hundred hours this month alone on training, but it was never a burden, always something fun to do, a stepping stone towards a brighter future.

And the results are, you like to think, just as notable if not more. Shortly after enrolling in the Tigers' Den, the combination of intense physical training and intense quirk usage made quick work of almost all fat in your body, revealing an iron abdomen you can't be prouder of and firmly muscled arms that made every drop of sweat look like it a step in the right direction.

Below your waist though?

While you are very, very glad that your skin tightened as you trained, the loss of fat down there only shows another subtler way in which you are like your mother.

Your legs are too damn long. Compared to what's under your neckline, there's not much to talk under your waistline, just the firmness that comes from not sitting on a chair all day and edging a caloric deficit daily. If anything, you are glad U.A.'s chairs are padded.

Is that what occupies your mind as you grab the bar and lift it, first from the pad to your chest, then over your head before slowly lowering it to your shoulders with no more strain than a grunt and blowing some steam off your nose.

Definitely 400lbs, bar included. Done quickly, with enough raw strength and with the most basic of techniques, it's not hard to lift. You may even be able to do some reps with that on the bench!

Pretty good, considering it's about four times your own weight.

"Would ya look at that…" You smugly mutter, making sure to look towards Spring Tiger as you start with the easiest of all the exercises.

Calf raises are just fancy for standing on your tippy toes and slowly returning your whole foot to the floor. Easy!

Or it should have been. Your back finds it easy, as does your neck and shoulders…

But your achilles tendon in your heel suddenly decides that hauling a gal that weighs about 90lbs most of the time is not nearly enough preparation for what you are asking, and sharply warns you to stop before it or your calves call it quits.

With a sharp pain, you quickly let your heel fall back to the padded floor, out of balance and forced to take a step back to try and regain your balance... But it doesn't help, as you still end up falling on your seat.
>>
>"Damn it Walker!" Spring Tiger says as she sprints by your side, quickly checking your ankles and then, for some reason, your eyes. "That's enough of that for now… Have you been training those breadsticks you call legs at all?"

"Ah -Ouch!- ran for some <clicks> the other day. That counts, right?" You ask, not all that confident anymore.

>"That's kilometers, isn't it?" She asks, getting a nod. "Sure. Now make it at least twenty a week and take every staircase you can find."

"Will do, ma'am." You jokingly say, not getting any humorous reaction from her.

>"You are okay." She says, leaving you on the floor and returning to her previous conversation. "Just get your ass back into gear. These are all calibrated to what you should already be able to do."

It only gets slightly better, with each exercise just drilling into your head how inadequate you are in the legs department…
Compared to your arms and torso, of course.

The leg press machine makes you feel like your wooden kneecaps may not be secured enough, forcing you to take your time, and the overhead squats take you a couple minutes each, partly because of your sore tendons and partly because you start feeling the tingly sensation that preludes a cramp in your seat, and you really don't want to go there.

If you got more than fifty reps on any of those before Spring Tiger told you to change again, you'd be surprised.

In the end, you basically take your time with the normal squats almost as a breather, feeling like every single join below your hips was missing some bolts and someone filled your legs with jello, leaving you feeling like the last time you tried riding a rodeo bull without chaps.

>"Add some fifty squats before going to bed every day to your routine!" Akahoshi suggests from afar as you take a breather before diving into upper body training. "It'll do you good, trust me!"

>"Don't just stand there, keep going!" Spring Tiger yells. "What was that about breaking limits!? Or did you just talk without having a clue of what you were getting into!?"

>What do you do?

Something she inherited from her dad's wooden physiology, probably to help her body cope with the square-cube law as it grows. Her proportions aren't quite as extreme as it sounds.

>>3517842
They rounded down. Six out of ninety pounds is six point six repeating percent.
>>
>>3517847
Thank you. That is more accurate.

Yeah, Ushi has little storage fat and a lightweight wooden skeleton. Most of her weight is muscle and organs. Normal girls have around 5% of their weight being sex-specific fat, so it's not even that hard to imagine Ushi to having her chest be 6.66% of hers.

Now I'll get to writing.
>>
>>3517889
Found some research that puts it into a bit of context. Typical breast mass ranges from five hundred to a thousand grams each. So the average weight for a "large" (in quotation marks because that really depends on the woman's overall frame, too) chest would be about four and a half pounds. Ushi is only about 33% bustier than the norm.
>>
>>3517889
Another question: where the hell did all of this high quality fan art come from? Most quests I've seen either use random art for characters, or extremely low quality work they make themselves.
>>
>>3518201
Mic, the magnificent bastard he is, commissions most of this art from real artists.
>>
>>3518201
>>3518235
And sometimes he miscalculates and ends up starving so you better appreciate him.
>>
>>3517937
The way you've characterized Ushi bust size is misleading. To be accurate you'd need to find the mean bust weight and the standard deviation of that mean. It's possible the 33% you describe is actually within a single standard deviation, unlikely though it might be, and then that would mean that about 34% of woman would fall into that range.
>>
>>3518306
Yes, I suppose my wording was unclear. What I meant was that it was 33% more massive than what some quick googling said was the average weight for a "large" breast. I don't have the figures to say what the mean is. Either way, my point was that she's not as cartoonishly large as saying "6.6% of her body mass is breast" would suggest. Certainly very busty, but not grossly so. Now, can we please stop talking about the statistical variance of a 16 year-old's boobs?

Endeavor's still too busy trying to use Ushi as an example to Shoto of why Quirk eugenics is so valuable. "Her mom could shrink and her dad could grow and she's super versatile because she got both of that, son! Stop being so stubborn and be like your American friend!" Getting them to have kids is step two of his eugenics plan, once Shoto is convinced of the merits of the idea.

Okay… You might have been a tad too brash about trying to tackle those exercises, far too confident in your legs abilities to carry you through the exercises Spring Tiger laid out for you...

"Ah was just warmin' up! Y'all watch this!" You tell your sensei, adopting a broad stance and pointing at her with your index finger.

>"Ain't she full of moxie~" Akahoshi comments, grabbing her face.

>"Don't you go and sprain something!" Spring Tiger warns you, crossing your arms. "I want to see you give everything you got, not just grind yourself into mincemeat!"

To that you just give a smile and a couple finger guns.

Much like before, you start by taking hold of the 400lbs bar and lifting it up to your chest, letting your wrists hang low for a second as you hold the hanging bar with your fingers.

You crack your neck, roll back your shoulders and then start shrugging, as you let your upper back and shoulder muscles take on the challenge first.

It's not exactly easy, but it's far from hard for you. Your arms, trained by an active lifestyle, martial arts and the intensive regime you put yourself through in preparation for the Sports Festival are hardly challenged, transmitting the brunt of the weight with ease, allowing you to easily get a repetition every two seconds and getting your sensei to step in within two minutes.

>"Alright, enough showing off, get moving! Chop-chop!" She says, stopping you before you were even tired.

"Sure!" You say, letting the bar fall on the padded area of the floor and then hopping away, letting yourself fall forwards, catching yourself with your hands before bruising yourself. "Y'all don't mind if Ah start with the clap push-ups, right?"

There's a great deal of smug self-satisfaction on getting this one going without a hitch, as it's both a struggle against gravity and your own anatomy. You physically can't get your arms parallel to the ground, which feels like it would undermine the exercise… Until you start clapping, pushing against the floor until your arms are fully extended and then some before each clap, as you have less airtime than most.

Once more, you make sure to keep eye contact with your sensei, determined to make up for the disappointing performance earlier. This time you get to 150 reps before you are told to stop.

The chin-ups are even easier for you, as your low body weight and the ankle weights Mina gave you for your birthday, which you have been wearing while doing chin-ups at home make you able to get to a twentieth set more of a chore than a challenge.
>"Okay, I get it, you aren't just gonna start gasping for air with those." Your wrestling teacher concedes, walking by your side and looking at you, as your skin is just now starting to glisten. "Get on the bench, I want to see how you deal with this one."
"Ah reckon Ah'll be liftin' it." You say, shaking your still hurting legs to keep the muscles to go cold.

"Ah reckon Ah'll be liftin' it." You say, shaking your still hurting legs to keep the muscles from going cold.

>"Funny! That's two plates more." She says, pulling two more 45lbs weight plates from the rack.

...Which wouldn't be nearly as scary if she wasn't already holding another two on her other hand.

"Ain't that a tad… Much?" You half point out, half ask, recognizing it to be out of your league.

>"I can see I'm not going to tire you out with reps, and I've seen you keep going through far worse things than I can get away with without losing my license to teach." Spring Tiger points out. "But since you have been working on strength, you should be able to muster a 490 pounds powerlift."

Akahoshi then walks over and picks up the bar with some effort, setting it on the bar for Spring Tiger to load.

>"Mhm…" She mutters, holding her chin and looking at your nervous expression with a smile. "C'mon, you'll do fine. Just don't focus on a single muscle and don't be scared to stop if it hurts. Just don't drop it on your neck and kill yourself!"

"...Ah'll keep that in mind." You reply, taking a step away from her and sitting on the bench.

>"Ready?" Spring Tiger asks, hands on the bar and ready to spot for you.

You lay down on the bench with a sigh, looking at you sensei from below.

"C'mon..." Clamping on to the bar, you start by testing the bar's weight with a soft push, getting nowhere.

>"What the hell was that?" Your sensei asks while raising an eyebrow, which you somehow notice through her mask.

"Just checkin'!" You yell, pushing once more and this time, you give it your all.

Your sight goes slightly blurry, your arms and back muscles instantly start hurting as you push them to their limits and slightly beyond, as you can feel your face and chest grow hot and your wooden clavicle bend in from the strain, groaning in a worrying low tone.

In the span of a couple seconds you lose control of your breathing and you can feel the sweat cover your palms and brow, but you manage to push the bar to arms length.

And then you lower it, slowly.

"<JESUS H. CHRIST THAT HURT OH MY GOD MY EVERYTHIN'!!>" You yell in your mothertongue, hugging yourself and rolling on the bench with a tear in the corner on your eye.

>"Ah… That's more like it." Spring Tiger says as she watches, relieved. "You can go run your laps now, unless you want to get more roughed up. Your call. You are already going to feel all this in the morning anyway."

"Can Ah pace mahself?..." You ask your sensei, feeling sore all over.

While you aren't exactly hurt, your everything hurts.

>"To be honest, I'm kind of impressed!" She says then plays the sound of a noisemaker, smirking. "Don't try to walk on me and you'll be <a-okay>!"

The fact that it was your voice saying that last word makes it a fair bit unnerving, but you keep it to a mere shudder.

"Alright, here Ah go... " You start, trying to convince yourself that a jog shouldn't be hard… But that's just endurance-wise…

"<Ah been trainin' in this dojo, for what feels like all day long~>" You sing to distract yourself. You know you are perfectly able to keep going, but every step you take makes you aware of the strain your muscles have been under, with your every joint is on some level of discomfort.. "<Ah can only keep on runnin' to pass the time away~>

With good form, carefully controlled breathing and just enough distractions to keep your mind off your aching joints, you manage to keep going around the dojo until seven pm hit with no other problems than chafing on your shoulders, severe thirst and having left your training gear soaking wet with sweat.

>"Alright, that's enough! You can stop now, I really don't want you to fall asleep on a train." Your sensei says, sprinting towards you and jogging by your side as you let your weary body slow down to a walk, instinctively and mindlessly licking away some sweat drops before they can fall on your eyes. "...Stop that too. It's creepy."

"So… Can Ah go get dinner?" You ask her, feeling a fair bit lightheaded by all the prolonged, constant exercise.

>"Uh-huh!" She answers, earning herself a long, sweaty hug from you. "I'm giving you thirty seconds to let me go."

Had you slept any less last night, you'd not be sure you could make it back to your house without dozing off, but you are confident you can make do, this time.

You waste little time making your way back to the house, just making a small stop at the changing room, throwing on some jeans and a shirt over your stinking self and bidding farewell to your sensei, getting an awkwardly long hug from Akahoshi on the way.

"Heya, Tin!" You say as you walk towards the nearest train station to get back to Musutafu, briefly looking over your shoulder at your backpack. "Mind doin' me a favor?"

>"Anything, Mistress." The robot's child-like voice answers as it's metallic tail claw peeked out of the side of the closed top flap, the shutter of the red camera adjusting to the light as if it was an eye. "What would you have me do?"

"Uhm… How about getting me a crash course on traffic laws?" You ask it, waving a hand around in uncertainty. "Not like, for right now, but to have it ready to listen later, you know?"

>"...Publicly available sources only, or all available ones?" It asks for clarification after a brief pause.

"Public only, Ah guess" You patiently tell it. "We don't do piracy… If that's what you meant."

>"Understood!" Chimes in Tin's androgynous voice for the last time, as its tail retreats back into your backpack.

The rest of the way back is just as you are used to by now.

Walk to the station trying to act like you don't notice the boy that got slapped by his girlfriend for turning to keep staring a bit longer.

Board a train back to Musutafu, keeping a wary eye on both the still sober salarymen that just got off their shifts and the other teenagers coming back from their first club meetings.

Run from the train towards the house, as the cloud of mosquitoes chasing you grows both volume and density by the yard. The facts that you attract all kind of mosquitoes and that they are one of the few things that are larger in Japan than in Texas only makes it more frustrating.

"<AH'M BACK!>" You shout as you slam the front door behind you, keeping the bloodthirsty dusk swarm outside. "WHEEZE~"

Only then you allow yourself to let your shoulders fall, yawning and stretching your abused joints.

>"Heya hun!" You hear your momma say from the kitchen, followed by the rhythmic sounds of her approaching hoofsteps. "Christ, did you not change before comin' home? You reek!"

Nothing for you to do but to roll your eyes and sigh.
"Fine, Ah'm gonna go take a bath." You mumble, dropping your backpack on the couch with just enough care to keep your notebooks and Tin from being roughed up before unclasping the top flap to let the tiny robot free. "Was gonna make myself a sandwich but whatever…"

>"Oh damn… They did a number on you… Again." She comments, looking you up and down, worriedly clasping her steaming cup with both hands. "...Yeah, you go get some rest hun, Ah'll bring you somethin' to eat."

She quickly shuffles back into the kitchen, returning with another teacup and handing it to you.

"Thanks Ma..." You reply, taking the cup and looking at all the golden liquid inside, stirring the cup and watching the tea and it's bag spinning within as you walk up stairs, careful to not spill it as your knees quiver.

You wouldn't like to spill the leaf juice onto the tiny white robot following you, after all.
It has enough problems with the stairs as it is.

You leave the teacup on your nightstand and waste no time stripping down, throwing everything were wearing into the laundry basket and picking up a towel before leaving for the bathroom.

A miserable, standard japanese bathroom. No tub in sight, just a stool to sit on while you wipe all the grime off yourself.

You huff, puff, and stomp in annoyance, almost slipping. Then you just sigh and sit down, taking the needed time to scrub where you need to, take care of the mess that is your hair 90% of the time and rinse all the detergent away.

>"You seem to have free time. Would you like your audio course now, Mistress?" Tin asks at the other side of the door.

"Ah'm not really in the mood anymore." You say, opening the door.

>"In that case, I have brought you your tea as well, Mistress." The robot says. "It seems to be at 104 degrees, <american>."

It wouldn't be the first time…

"Come on in." You tell it, stepping aside and letting Tin in. "Leave it by the drain, then start reading."

>"Understood." It says, rolling on it's tiny tracks and leaving the cup where you told it to.

For your part, you just place your hand on your thigh and slowly shrink yourself.
Then you just enter the cup and let yourself soak in the tea. It's no different from perfumed water, right?

For the next hour, you just lay there, eyes closed, letting your body rest and listening to the basics of the MLIT's laws for motorbike use.

By the time the tea gets cold enough and you leave for your room, you are not surprised to see the clock mark 9:30PM.

You are a bit more surprised by the three dishes on your desk though. Two slices of cornbread, a plate of rice and what looks and smells like baked trout.

A small surprise, but a welcome one to be sure.

>"You finally got out of there! Ah was getting worried you might have slipped and hit your head or somethin'!" Your mother says behind you, actually surprising you and causing you to instantly enlarge your towel and fully roll yourself in it. "Easy there hun! It's just a glass of juice!... And your backpack. Just keepin the livin' room tidy."

Looking out of your fabric cocoon you can see that she was indeed just bringing your backpack and a glass of what you instantly recognize as apple juice.

"Oh. Sorry 'bout that." You apologize, letting the carpet sized towel fall and quickly throwing on the old concert shirt you use as your pajama top and a pair of clean panties, slightly red-faced as you do. "Ah was goin' to go get it anyway."

>"First, please don'tcha go doin' that kinda thing anywhere else." She tells you, leaving the backpack on your bed and the glass on your desk. "And Ah think you could get away with not doing one day's homework, hun."

"Nah, there ain't no homework to be done anytime soon." You answer, waving the question off as you open your backpack and take out the thick pile of papers that you were handed earlier. "Just gonna read through my internship offers!"

You then let the pile fall next to your food, to review as you dine.

>"Lemme have a look at 'em." She suddenly says, snatching them off the table and squinting at the list while sifting through the stack's side with her thumb, picking up two pages seemingly at random and shoving them in her apron pocket. "Nevermind those. You got quite the big names here! Endeavor wants you to work with him!.. Edgeshot and Miruko too!"

"Uhm… Yu told me she would train me too, if Ah wanted to." You point out, carefully taking your offers back before any more pages would go missing.

>"Huh. She's a good kid, but Ah dunno. She'd have something to show you, but Ah reckon she's not quite on Endeavor's level." She says, her tail starting to hit your bed with a rhythm. "No one is, anyway."

You sip your juice and look at the now slightly smaller stack of papers.

Well I can see where the wind is blowing. Edgeshot is probably the one to pick if we want to improve our quirk usage, if I remember him correctly. He's the origami ninja guy, right?

Yeah. Just like Ushi, he's trained his Quirk to the point he can transform faster than sound. But he's also got good tactical skills and knows how to manage his public image. There's a comment that his status in the charts would be even higher if it was based solely on public approval. And while it's meta-knowledge, Edgeshot eventually forms a team with Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady (maybe in this universe his experience with Ushi will be what encourages him to work with another size-changer), so we can still get a connection with Yu that way. Edgeshot is an all-round quality pick for Ushi's internship.
>>
>>3523683
He can teach us some subtilty too, hopefully. Using less of her quirk for more effect. think about other angles of approach other than charge forward, along with maybe some people reading skills.

Him knowing how to move at high speed and avoid tunnel vision while also not putting much strain on himself is a plus too.

Plus he's a ninja. Cowboys vs ninjas ahoy

Oh, and he'll be working with plant-based mutant, too, preparing him for Kamui. Ushi's basically foreshadowing for Edgeshot, it works too perfectly not to go for him.

Yeah, ninja dude is pretty good. Skilled with both Quirk use and combat tactics, image-conscious, a team player, gives us future access to useful contacts, and there's nothing more East meets Wild West than a cowboy training with a ninja. Isn't that right, StarNinger?

On that subject... theres the black ten gallon hat for stealth joke, but I'm wondering if we'll get a modified alternate costume while working under edgeshot. Or if he'll actually take a shot at wearing something brighter to make us feel a bit welcome and show even with brighter colors you can still be stealthy/work from other angles.

Well, if you do have to decide soon, you might as well do it now.

You quickly shovel the rice into your mouth and down it with a sip of juice, taking a pencil and working your way down the school form you needed to hand over this coming friday.

>"Huh? Edgeshot?" Your mother asks, dragging the name out. "Are ya sure you don't want to go with Endeavor?...Or Yu, Ah mean… Mt. Lady? Miruko?"

"Ninjas are like the third coolest thing ever." You tell her, pointing at her with your pencil. "...And Ah kinda already train with him often enough."

>"Why not one of them gals?" She asks, with a bit of worry on her tone.

Were it someone else, you wouldn't have caught it, but you have been with her more than anyone else in your life.

"Ah don't wanna miss this chance. Ah reckon Ah can get Mt. Lady to show me some tricks some other time and Miruko… She's kinda crazy, ain't she? Dunno why'd she'd want me..." You ponder for a couple second, tapping your chin. Then you turn to face your mother. "Why not Edgeshot tho'?"

Her arms wrap around you as she answers, her bell ringing muffled close to your ear.

>"It's just… You'll be out for a week with some strangers..." She softly says.

"...With one of the best heroes this country has to offer." You point out, awkwardly patting her hand, barely moving to avoid poking her with your horns. "Is this related to those pages you took?"

For a second, her hug turns from firm to smothering.

>"No! Ah just don't want you to go out there and get stabbed or kidnapped or… or…" She blurts out, then sighs. "Hun, Ah know you chose to make a livin' outta this, but Ah can worry! Ah also don't where you'd be stayin', who else works there or anythin' really!"

"Well, Ah reckon Ah have a phone. Ah can call you." You point out, finishing the form.

>"But the ninja? Really? You ain't exactly inconspyci- insconspic-" She interrupts herself a few times, as if recalling the word. "...You are very noticeable. Almost glowing, really."

"Ah can wear black!" You tell her, stabbin your fish with a single chopstick and taking a bite out of it, like a brochette. "A black hat would do it."

You aren't sure if her dumbfounded expression was caused by your revolutionary flatware efficiency technique, what you said or the fact that you pointed at her with a mostly whole fish as you said it.

She just lets her shoulders slump for a few seconds, running her fingers through your hair.

>"Fine… Have it your way." She concedes in the end, ruffling eh hair between your horns. "Just go to bed soon, you need your rest Hun."

Yep. Mama Walker is 2.7 meters tall, that's eight feet and ten inches under the Imperial system. That's including horn height, but even subtracting those she's still enormous. There's a throwaway line in the first thread about how she nearly got in trouble for vigilantism after pinning a robber holding up a store she was in because the police assumed she was using a growth Quirk.

Come the next next day, your everything feels sore.

Once more, nothing you can't plow through, but you are 90% sure that your clavicle creaked whenever your backpack straps pulled on your shoulders.

Luckily, the morning classes don't require much physical activity, allowing you to rest in your comfy chair for some hours before heading out of the classroom for lunch.

"Where to go now?" You ponder out loud, looking around the mess hall.

It's almost funny how many chairs are subtly opened for you in mostly male dominated tables, but you just chuckle and scout the area for your friends.

Pony, Itsuka, Monoma and Tetsutetsu were on their usual spots with not so usual sheets of paper strewn on the table between their trays. They are also joined by the dark green haired girl again. Setsuna, if you recall correctly.

Shoto too is where he often is, sitting by the window alone. His cold glare helps him keep anyone from even trying to sit by him.

Momo, Mina, Tsuyu, Toru and Kyoka are happily chatting on a table near the center of the hall. They all look excited, and Kyoka waves at you when your eyes meet.

>What do you do?

Your eyes dart around the mess hall for a few seconds, looking at the gals, then at your lone friend at his table, at the Class B kids and then back at the gals.

Making a quick decision, you bring your tray to your classmate's table, making an effort to sigh away the wicked thought of bringing Shoto with you.

Not because you couldn't, because you are damn sure you are perfectly capable of either convincing your friend of it or throwing him over your shoulder and carrying the helpless boy away~

>"Here." Momo greets you with a nod, pulling the last chair of the table for you, getting you a place by her side.

"Uh?- Oh yeah!" You reply, quickly shaking your head.

>"Hey, Ushi!" Mina says, not even waiting for you to sit. "You got more offices to pick from than any of us! How are you gonna pick!?"

>"She's totes going to go with a tough brawler kinda hero!" Toru interjects, throwing mock punches you can only see because of her sleeves movement and the fact that she was only a foot too far to stab Kyoka in the face with her spork. "Or Mt. Lady. One of those!"

>"I was just explaining why I thought Ubawami was a good fit for my internship!" Momo tells you, covering her mouth for a short giggle. She's totally swept in the moment. "Back me up, please. Getting eliminated directly after my first fight of the tournament is not necessarily related to my choice to go with such a well regarded rescue focused hero as Ubawami is."

>"Not saying it's a bad idea, but picking someone who does no combat…" Kyoka points out, clearly teasing. "Eh, sounds just a little bit suspicious, don't you think?"

>"I'm just going for coastal patrolling with Selkie." Tsuyu comments, tapping her chin. "But even then I may see a fight or two. Ribbit."

>"See indeed." Momo shoots back, leaning forwards to place her elbows on the table to adopt into a steepling pose with hands clasped and fingers crossed. "Don't believe any of us will be put directly into any dangerous situation, no hero would do that."

This visible takes the air out of Toru, Kyoka and Mina's sails, just eliciting a shrug from Tsuyu.

"...Actually sugar, Ah'm goin' with Edgeshot." You point out before shoveling some rice into your mouth. "Ah'm sure Ah can nab some techniques from him. His quirk ain't too similar mine, but Ah reckon Ah can learn somethin' from the No. 5 hero."

>"See? She understands." Momo says, nodding at you. "It's a great opportunity to try and broaden our skillsets."

Silence hangs over the table for a solid minute, which you use to gobble down the rest of your lunch.
>>
>"...Edgeshot, The Ninja Hero?" Kyoka asks, tilting her head a bit to the side.

"'yuup!" You quickly answer, which somehow gets the rest of the table to glance at each other.

>"Ninjas are cool, but I…" Mina starts, dragging the last word for a second. "I don't really see how you fit there? I'm pretty sure a cowgirl is the opposite of a ninja."

>"That's pirates. Ribbit." Tsuyu quickly points out.

>"Whatever." Kyoka continues, waving the age old argument off. "It's just hard to imagine a ...large american cowgirl in a red white and blue costume being sneaky."

>"Aw…" Toru then whines. "I thought Edgeshot just wasn't scouting…"

Either position is perfectly fine. It basically boils down to 'do we focus on our core strengths, or shore up our weaknesses?' We're all going to eventually do both, and more, during our time at U.A.

Actually, think of this like a test! Do you aim for top marks in your good subjects, or just try not to bomb your bad ones? Goodness knows, Uwabami would be a good way for us to learn some social grace...

You take a couple of seconds to think of a good answer. And to properly chew.

"Ah mean… Momo's right, ya know? Maybe Ah can get some quick and' sneaky-like uses outta my shrinkin'! No better chance than this one!" You say after swallowing, tapping your chin as everyone ought to when thinking. "After all, Ah reckon we'll all be doin' everythin'... In time, Ah mean."

You take a sip of your juice before continuing, starting to feel excited about the small speech weaving itself together in your mind. Progress!

"It's kinda like a test!" You proclaim, smiling and pointing at yourself and Momo. "We are shorin' up our weaknesses, y'all are gonna aim for top marks on your stronger subjects! It'll all work out in the end!"

>"Thank you." Momo replies, looking over other occupants of the table. "Huh."

"Uh?" You sort of respond, looking at the other girls to see what surprised her.

The you look back at your food, sniffing the now empty dish.

Doesn't smell bad in any way, in fact, it makes you feel bad for suspecting that anything bad could have happened in Lunch Rush's kitchen of all places.

But if the food is as great as ever, how come they all started looking pale? Hell, Mina looks sort-of-normal!

>"...Tests." The not-so pink girl feebly says. "...When are the midterms!?"

"Uhm… three weeks, Ah think." You answer, shrugging unworried.

Mina sighs in relief, the color returning to her face-

>"Oh. Then we are okay." She says, sighing and leaning back on her chair, almost melting into it, rocking back and forth. "Wew, I almost got worried. I can still study later."

>"Y-yeah!" Toru stumbles over her words. "With the Sports Festival and the internship, we've not had time to study!"

>"I/Ah've studied." You and Momo say in stereo.

Seeing the mood of the table deflate, you quickly try to pull the reins of the conversation back to the internships.

"Anyway… What are y'all doin' for your internships?" You ask, looking at everyone on the table.

As one of the three of you that wasn't really bothered about the midterms, Tsuyu is the first to answer.

>"I think I said it already, but I'm going with Captain Selkie." She says. "Unless there's a flash flood somewhere in Japan today, I can't really go anywhere but the coast. Ribbit."

You can hear Momo huff at that last remark, followed by very poorly concealed mass giggling.
You may or may not be part of it.

>"Death Arms for me." Kyoka says, crossing her arms and leaning back on her chair, choosing to motion with her jacks instead of her arms. "Back in USJ, I could barely use my speakers and had to rely on Yaoyorozu to handle me a blade before Ushi bailed us out."

>"Thanks for that, by the way." Tsuyu suddenly adds, looking at you, Momo and Kyoka.

"No problem." You quickly reply, waving your hand at her. "It's… kinda of our job, ain't it?.. Will be… Ah'm confused."

After an equally confusing half-minute of being headpatted by Momo, you decide to pitch in the talk, smiling smugly.
>>
"You know, Edgeshot." You say, discreetly grabbing your thigh and standing up, quickly shrinking yourself to a few inches in a puff of white mist.

You then run under the table to its other side before placing your hands together and enlarging yourself again.

"Ninja stuff!" You announce as you pop-up between Mina and Kyoka in another puff of quickly receding mist, in what movies have taught you is a ninja pose. "...Ah really gotta practice doing this stuff more often."

>"Okay, I kind of forgot you could do that kind of stuff." Mina says, poking you in the ribs before announcing her pick. "No one drafted me… So I decided to go with Slidin' Go! Had to look him up, but the big guy knows how to move around, so I figured I could practice my acid sliding!"

"Ooh…" You say, looking around for any clue as to who that was, only getting shrugs from everyone else on the table. "...Ah have no dang clue who that is."

>"I know!" Mina says, throwing her arms up. "But I had no better options!"

Ochaco wasn't sitting with you, so you can only look at Momo, being that you are the only girls that got drafted by anyone. You both wince at Mina's remark.

>"Hey, cheer up!" Toru says at Mina's other side, her cheery tone getting . "...I've not even picked anyone yet."

It gets kind of awkward after that, with you making your way back to your chair, around the table this time.

Why does Ushi have to do that, anyway? I get that she needs to have all five fingers on something to change its size, but can't she get all her fingers in contact with her own body just by closing her hand?

After spending every afternoon between the USJ incident and the Sports Festival, getting to leave school at 16:10 feels like the eight period was canceled and you were told to go home earlier…

Despite A) Your home being at the other side of the pacific and B) The fact that only Heroics students must stay that late, with everyone else having left an hour earlier.

But as All Might, the No. 1 Hero of all of Japan slams his suitcase closed, you are almost vibrating on your seat, ready for liftoff.

"Just keep in mind that while heroes aren't legally required to act on non-quirk-related crimes, that doesn't mean you shouldn't!" Says All Might, finishing today's Foundational Heroics Studies class on deployment situations. "And with that, we are done! Have a good day, young ones!"

As your notes now summarise, normally a hero either finds a villain while on patrol or after being called for an emergency dispatch, meaning the police knows of a villain and needs a hero's assistance. They rarely call just one office, but all in the neighboring area.

Other times, the most important ones to fight against organized crime, the police and the Hero Network would coordinate a raid with specialists within the force and the heroes best suited for the job. Never as flashy as the brawls in the streets that the news loved, but far more important to keep crime from raising and better compensated by the government.

You quickly add All Might's closing lines as well. Heroes can walk away from normal crime or disasters unrelated to villains, or even wait for news crews to show up first, but people really don't like that.

Having filled your internship paperwork already and today being Sato and Kaminari's turn to clean up Class 1-A's Homeroom, the rest of the day looks clear for you.

The moment the teacher rushes off the classroom, you and most of your classmates follow suit, wasting little to no time getting out of the classroom, then the school building itself.

You take a moment to think by the school gates, leaning on one side of the gate and looking around, thinking about what to do with your day.

Most of your classmates walk towards the train station in groups, talking amongst themselves, with Fumikage and Shoto walking alone instead.

Class 1-B seems to do the same, with Pony stretching at the other side of the street in front of the school, seemingly ready to start her trip on hoof… and away from both the school and the train station.

The other oddity is the dark-green haired girl from Class 1-B, Setsuna.

...Who is staring at you from a few yards away, leaning on the other side of the gate.

>>
>>3535181
In seriousness, we did sort it out already. We had a talk with Pony right after the Sports Festival. We're fine, Ushi and Pony are still friends. There's nothing to talk about. So Pony pities Ushi. Whatever. We're not going to fix that with more talking, we're going to fix that by not being something pitiable. We need to hang out with our friend more, because that's what friends do, but a big dramatic talk isn't going to be helpful, let alone necessary.

>>
>>3535290
I'm not sure. The character sheet says it's still Shocked, but that hasn't been updated in a while. Even if it's still Shocked, though, it doesn't matter. You don't need big speeches for Quality Time, it can just be spending time with someone to rebuild your relationship the natural way. So yeah, let's hang out with our friend Pony, but we don't need to get all dramatic about it.

>>3535290

Yeah, it's 1 Shocked, 1 Normal RD right now.
Quality Time would fix it. All you need for Quality Time to work is to spend time with the person bonding over something they like and not fucking the relationship more in the process.

Imagine playing boardgames for an afternoon.
Winning or losing doesn't matter, just don't flip the table or eat the cards.
>>
>>3535300
Also, as a side note, it actually benefits us to not have the reconciliation be some big speech. Quality Time can use any dice pool, so long as it's appropriate to the moment and the relationship. To use one of the book's examples, if we disappointed Papa Walker then we could rebuild the reputation by using Feet+P.E. to play catch with him. Talking it out more or less mandates that the dice pool use Face and be quite small, if we can swing a way to Guts our relationship back together we're in a much better position. Maybe go on a long run with her, the two of us quietly enjoying the other's company, so that we can use Guts+Wind for endurance.
>>
>>3535300
Right. so we just need to do something with her. Go for a jog and laugh together and it'll be all good.

You stare at Shoto's back for a minute, contemplating the possibility about the possibility of chasing him down, walking him home and maybe dragging him off to go do something fun after that…

But from the corner of your eye, you can see Setsuna staring at you. It's not an unblinking stare, as when she notices you looking back, she grins, sticking out her tongue and… hissing?

You are not completely sure she hissed, but it brings memories.

The combination of the hiss, her sharp teeth and her smug grin reminds you of Chloe...

As such, you push against the side of the school gate you are leaning against, getting closer to Setsuna.

>"So-" It's all you hear from her before you book it to save your hide.

Sadly, you don't make it nearly as far away as you'd like, as you slam the brakes when you get near Pony at the other side of the street.

>"Oh, Ushi!" She says, looking somewhat surprised. "Uhm… Hi, but I'm leaving? Can't talk stand."

"Howdy!... Mind if Ah join you?" You ask her, looking over your shoulder to the puzzled-looking Setsuna, hoping to leave while she's still stunned.

>"But the trains are over there?" She points out, literally pointing with her finger in the train station's general direction, before pointing in the direction she was facing a second earlier. "I'm walking over here. Your home isn't this way."

"Ah know!" You tell her, trying to pull back your sleeves and failing on the grounds of having done it earlier in the day. "Just thought it'd be nice to go for a jog together!"

>"Oh, okay. Sure!" She replies, as cheerfully as she often is, adjusting her bag straps. "Just try to keep up! Doubles as endurance training, you see?"

"It ain't no problem, sugarcube!" You smugly wave her off, adjusting your backpack straps.

>"If you say so!" She says, taking off!...

In what seems and feels like the middle point between a normal jogging pace and a run. Not enough to even threaten to push your breathing, but way too fast for you to even attempt to keep up with via powerwalking.

It's clear to you that she has the route committed to memory, as there's zero hesitation in any of her metallic hoofsteps as you follow her lead through the lazy streets of Musutafu closer to the school.

Too noisy for the small, damaged by time houses to be worth much, but too close to U.A. to attract any crime, you aren't surprised by the calm streets nor the amount of senior citizens in the area.

"Ah reckon Ah've never gone around these parts." You admit as you lose sight of the school towers.

>"This are the nice parts." Pony tells you in her working, but still somewhat broken japanese.

"Are we going to the bad parts?" You ask, unsure as to what that meant.
>>
>"...Kinda." She answers. Then, like she had said something she shouldn't have, she starts stammering. "Just a bit! Is fine before dark! Not too bad after either! Roads are good!"

"Do Ah wanna know?" You ask, more to give her an out than anything else.

>"<Nope!>" She quickly replies, snapping back into english. "<...Dang!>

"<Ah was wondering when you'd start speakin' english.>" You admit.

>"<I want to practice my Japanese as much as possible.>" She replies, huffing a bit. <"I plan to make the best out of these three years in Japan!">

After what feels like another half hour of jogging, you notice something odd.

There's graffiti on some of the walls now, something you had only seen in japan on some train stations and under a bridge one time.

Pony doesn't seem to mind however, still trotting to wherever you are following her to.

Not having a clue of where you are currently standing and with the sun noticeably closer to the horizon, you start having some doubts…

>"<Here!>" Pony suddenly says, stopping just as suddenly and causing you to run into her.

Had it been anyone else, you would have likely toppled them, but she just takes it like a horsey wall.

It seems to be an apartment tower with flakey white paint, and too many doors for how wide it actually is.

You follow Pony up a flight of rickety metal stairs and to a door on the second floor, where she produces a key out of her bag and brings it to the lock.

But doesn't insert it.

>"<Uhm...>" She starts, turning to look at you. "<Thanks for the company!... I can give you directions to the closest train station if you want?"

"<Are you kicking me out before Ah even set a foot in?" You joke, but it doesn't feel like it lands well.

>"<No!>" She neigh-instantly answers, waving her hands in front of herself. "<It's just… It's a mess inside!.. And you don't really want to stay late! I mean, I don't think you even told your mom you'd be here, right!?>"

A mess, she says? Does she even know you?

"<...Ah was raised in a ranch, sugarcube. You could have a sty in there and Ah'd only keep my shoes on.>" You tell her, waving her excuses off and then crossing your arms.

She stares at you with her large blue eyes for a couple seconds, but you don't budge, staring back and remaining immobile, smirking.

>"<...Fine.>" She finally gives in, inserting the key and turning the knob with a sigh, revealing nothing but the fact that all the windows inside must have their blinds down, if such windows exist. "<You can come in, but I warned you!>"

The moment she opens the door a slightly damp smell comes from the darkness within, hitting you full on and making you scrunch your nose and close your eyes for a second. You weren't lying to Pony though, as it's more of a surprise than a bothersome smell.

>"<I warned you.>" Pony says from inside, turning around to face you.

With no other light sources but the sunshine behind you, all that you can inside are the shining reflections on Pony's blue eyes and her red fireman's axe.

>"<It'll be messy.>" She softly says, fiddling with the axe.

Startled, you take a step back and huff, crossing your arms in front of your face and lowering your head, wondering in the back of your head if you would be better trying to take the first swing and disarm her or turning around and risking an axe to the back.

>"<To your right.>" She then says, staying put in the dark, still fiddling with the axe.

You keep looking at her, but briefly glance to the wall to your right, slapping the lightswitch on and quickly returning your attention to your axe wielding host.

>"<Sorry, gimme a minute!>" She apologizes, separating the axe's blade into small pauldrons and arms, revealing a small robot head between them.

"<...What's that?>" You ask, watching her split the axe's handle into a pair of legs in confusion.

>"Maxon, Fire Slash!" She immediately answers in those japanese'd english phonemes that some products use here, shoving the resulting robot toy in your face.

"<...Is that a dang Transformer!?>" You ask her, not knowing whether to be mad, relieved or just more confused.

>"<NO!>" She yells, pulling back the robot and surprising you. "<I mean, sort of! Don't bring Hasbro's taint here! This is an original Takara-Tomy> Super Robot Life-form Transformers: Mythical Microns <collectors figure!>"

The fact that she hugs the lifeless toy only confuses you more, but helps your racing heart to settle down.

Looking around, with the lights on this time, you can see what she meant when she said it was a mess inside.

The department seems to be as small as you imagined, with the kitchen door aligned with the doorframe you are standing on, just a couple dozen yards in.
What you assume to be the living room, the one after the tiny area to leave your shoes right after the entrance, is littered with cardboard and plastic packaging.
>>
The only clean area would be her kotatsu, currently covered in about half a dozen mid-assembly anime figurines, a rather complex looking gray plastic robot model and what looks to be a painting kit.

The only other thing insight are three shelves, two of completed figurines and models and one of disc boxes, a modestly sized T.V. and a media player next to it to watch the discs.

>"<I only come here on my spare time to work on my projects, so I don't really clean it all that often.>" Pony excuses herself, leaving the robot on a shelf with other similar robots and adjusting it to fit with their posing before quickly but carefully picking her figures' boxes, folding them carefully as if they were valuable too. "<I had gotten Fire Slash during the weekend, so I was still on the process of taking photos with the rest of his team… And, like, I didn't expect you to come hang out!">

"<Don't worry, Ah didn't know mahself!>" You assure her, looking around for all the figures you can recognize. Mostly some Pretty Cure, a couple Mobile Suits and, for some reason, an old Toyota Corolla Levin. "<Ah see you are really… Enjoyin' Japanese media. Didn't think you could bring this much luggage from America without a shrinking quirk though.>"

>"<These? Oh, these are all new! I have much more at home!>" She tells you excitedly, literally trotting in place for a full minute.

"<Ah reckon none will ever tell you you got no passion, that's for sure.>" You comment, finally closing the door behind you and entering the cozy room in full.

>"<This is most of my home, really. You can see the kitchen, and the small hall leads to my room and the restroom.>" She says, walking to the open kitchen door and waving a hand towards said small hall. "<Pie? I baked it yesterday, so it should be cold, but still amazing!>"

"<What kind?>" You ask, as if it mattered,

>"<Take a guess!>" She immediately asks back, winking.

"<It's apple pie, ain't it?>" You deduce, getting a nod in reply. "<Sure, Ah could go for a slice or six.>"

After a few minutes, she has moved enough figures from the kotatsu to let both of you sit by it with enough room to put a dessert plate each on it.

>"<Is it any good?>" She asks you, watching you cut a piece of the slice with your spork.

Your nose tells you to say yes, but you wait until you actually taste it to answer.

"<Yesh!>" You tell her the moment it makes contact with your tongue, watching her pump her fist with a satisfied expression on her face.

>"<So..>" She says then, taking a bite out of her own slice. "<Did you, like, wanted to talk about something or…?">

>What do you do?

Try to bond over a shared love of working with our hands. Sure, we prefer wood to plastic and paint, but either way it's fun to work out the tiny details. Just make it a nice afternoon of getting to know each other better.

I'll say it again, but Shocked RD don't need to be repaired with a heartfelt talk. You can just spend time with a person and repair your relationship through affirming that you do like each other and enjoy being friends. This is actually advantageous to Ushi, as it allows Quality Time actions to be based on any dice pool, not just her meager Face pool. For example, if we hung out looking at all these cool models Pony has, comparing our respective experiences with plastic and wood, we could use Ushi's 5d Hands+Shop pool to reflect how they got to know each other better over the course of discussing their hobbies.

Not so sure about pinks write in, but if there is a chance to repair the shocked RD without face rolls I’ll go with it.

There was something, in a way…

But it doesn't really matter, does it? Isn't being her friend a better way to mend your relationship than talking about it?

"<Nah, just wanted to hang out with mah Pony pal, see what you do for fun.>" You tell her between sporkfuls of pie. "<Who knows, maybe we would find something fun to do together.>"

She giggles nervously, looking at the half-painted model sharing the kotatsu with you.

>"<Yeah… Sorry about that. I don't think you'll find anything fun to do here, just… piles and piles of weeb trash.>" She starts, dragging her words and scratching the back of her neck for a moment before her expression quickly returns to an eager smile. "<Had you told me before, I could have gone get some ingredients and we could have made a cake!... Or we could have gone for a long haul trot into the countryside way earlier!>"

Considering the decor, you find her dismissal of all anime related activities more than a bit suspect.

"<Yeah... Ah could have sworn you liked all this so called trash.>" You say, raising an eyebrow and slowly bringing your index finger closer and closer to the shiniest bit of paint on the unfinished model.

Then she slaps your hand away, just before you can touch the potentially still fresh paint, glaring at you.

You just stare at her with a smug expression on your face, waiting until she rolls her eyes and looks away.

>"<That's, like, obvious, isn't it?>" She says, somewhat defensively. "<I was just trying to suggest something you'd like!>"

"<What makes you think Ah wouldn't like any of that?>" You ask, perplexed.

>"<Not American enough.>" Pony immediately answers in a completely deadpan tone.

"<Hey now, that's unfair!>" You say, slamming your hands on the kotatsu, flustered. "<Ah may not know anything about most anime, but Ah know a fair bit about robots and scale models!... Ah kinda live it!>"

>"<...Oh fuck, I kind of forgot all about Tin.>" She says, looking a bit ashamed all of the sudden. "<Shrinking yourself must make painting way easier, too.>"

"<...Wanna try it?>" You ask her, with an outstretched hand and a mischievous smile on your face.

While you were proposing a handshake of sorts, the speed with which she slammed her hand into yours feels more like a low five with run-up.

Still, you grab onto her and let your backpack fall down, then you take an instant to shrink both of you to be half a foot tall before trying to let go of her.

>"<No.>" Pony tells you, holding on to your hand. "<Keep going. Let's make it to scale.>"

The next four hours feel like the middle point between playing dolls and what Pa does for a living, as you pretend to be working on an actual giant robot while standing barely over an inch tall each.
>>
A painting scheme with color palette is set on a napkin, matchsticks and cemedine make for sturdy scaffolding and some plastic bottle caps help carry paints around the robot in between painting parts, giving both of you a few minutes to rest in-between the full body work-out that operating a precision paintbrush is at that size, or carefully shaving the plastic seams into uniformity with an X-acto knife tip.

In the end, it's not completion, exhaustion, nor boredom that makes you stop, but the ringing of your phone, a call from your mother.

You quickly hop off the kotatsu with Pony in tow, growing back to normal in an instant, intent on getting to the phone before Momma thinks you are ignoring her or worse.

>"Heya, hun!" She greets you as soon as you answer the call. "Is everythin' alright? Clock's about to hit nine and Ah hadn't heard nothing from you! Ah was worried you weren't gonna answer!"

"Howdy!" You start, pulling on your shirt collar for letting mama worry like that. "Ah'm at Pony's… Got carried away paintin'. Didn't think it'd get that late."

>"Tsunotori? She seemed like a nice gal… Just try to wrap it up soon, okay? Ah don't want you to be alone on the streets too late." Your mom tells you, her voice both firm and pleading.

"Sure." You tell her. "...Love ya."

>"Love ya too." She replies, ending the call.

>"I guess it means you gotta go back." Pony then says, back in her almost-good japanese, scratching her cheek and leaving a cyan paint streak on her face. Before her face lights up, quickly turning around and walking down the small hall. "...Come here."

Following her, you arrive at what must be her room.

Both because there's no other rooms in the apartment, and because you can't tell the color of the walls thanks to the poster density on them. Much like the rest of the apartment, the room is tiny, with nothing but a closet, a desk and chair, a futon-style bed on the floor and a small shelf with some familiar books, like some of your textbooks, The Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird and Meta Liberation War. You wonder if Momma brought her copy.

But out of all the posters in the room, there's one that Pony is looking at when you enter behind her.
>>
One displaying a tall blonde woman in a skimpy cowboy outfit, with cowlike ears and massive horns, wearing safety glasses and a stetson. All capped off with the name of the heroine in the poster, Cow Lady.

>"I don't think she made it big. She was popular back in California when I was little, but I don't know what happened with her. I think she left, and I never saw her again." Pony says, staring at the poster for a bit longer before turning to look at you.

You can't answer, too stunned by the poster.
Had someone beaten you to the punch, a decade ago!?

>"She never made it to the big leagues, but she inspired me to get here. Took me too long to make the connection… But I want you to have it." Pony continues taking a step closer to the poster and taking out the thumbtacks keeping it in place before rolling it and handing it to you. "She did for me what you said you wanted to do for us all. Maybe it'll help you reach the top, someone people won't forget."

In an hour time, you are back on your own room, still stunned.
Still holding the rolled up poster in your now cramping hand, not having had moved a muscle since Pony put it in your hand.

It's motivational, but scary all the same.
You can still be the symbol you wish to be…
But the possibility of failure and oblivion wasn't something you had ever thought about.
