Welcome to Young Justice: Meta Human Slave Quest. You are Joseph Mercer. From a young age you excelled academically, to the point where the school curriculum was often too easy for you, and ultimately as a preteen you skipped a few grades and went to high school early. You continued to excel, and even as an underage freshmen took advance courses such as AP Biology. Unfortunately, your nature as a Nerd and your relative youth compared to your classmates made it hard to make friends, and by your second year of high school at the age of fourteen you had ended up as a solitary wallflower. Feeling bad for yourself and with your self confidence at an all time low, you responded to a self help advertisement online. This proved to be a horrible mistake. When you got to the address from the add you were kidnapped by Meta-human traffickers and experimented on, gaining the power to control and manipulate your flesh. You were then implanted with a control device and thrown into some sort of super villain school with a number of other kidnapped teenagers. Currently you are undergoing your first lesson in using your powers with your shape-shifting teacher, and are about to attempt to manipulate your skeletal structure. Previous thread. http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/3514945/
You nod to let him know you understand his instructions, and grab the jug of water and the nearest bottle of pills and start stuffing your face with eggs and dietary supplements. Then, you get to work. Before you start however he whips out a tape measure and records the length and dimensions of each finger. “It’s important to have a reference when you’re working under controlled conditions. Hopefully we won’t need them, but it’s better to have them and not need them rather than need them and not have them” He tells you as he records the numbers. “When you do it on the fly you have to eyeball it, but when you can it’s best to be clinical. Remember, precision is key to our work.” Once he’s done he gives you the go ahead to start, and you get to work on your fingers like he had suggested. You think back to your anatomy classes and you imagine the bones. You picture the cartilaginous segments that allow for growth and feel for them with the awareness of your body given to you by your powers until you find them, and you order them to grow and lengthen your bones. As they expand you will materials into the new growth forcing it to ossify as it grows.Larson watches you closely as you work, commenting on the growth of your fingers and making sure you keep it even. You add maybe half an inch to their length, and then he orders you to try reversing it and shrinking them back down. Reversing it is harder, you start by trying to break down the ossified material, but experience pain when you try that so you cut that out real quick. After a moments contemplation you have an idea and order your bones to compress in on themselves and try to shrink them down by making them more dense. Packing the same amount of material in as the larger bones down into a smaller space. It’s uncomfortable, there’s a sensation of pressure and your hands feel stiff while the change is ongoing, but it works. You manage to shrink your fingers back down to their original proportions. Then Larson orders you to grow em back out and shrink them again. You do this for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half.
>>3529465In the beginning it’s slow going, it takes minutes to grow out the bones and shrink them back down. It’s a lot harder to manipulate bone than it was to manipulate muscle and flesh, but you can do it, and as Larson makes you do it over and over you begin to get faster at it. By the time the kitchen staff arrive with two whole cooked turkeys you’ve got it down to about half a minute all together between the extension time and then the time to shrink them back down. You’ve been choking down supplements and eggs the whole time, actually to be more accurate you finished the eggs about an hour in and started on the sausages. Most of what you’ve been using has actually been the stuff from the dietary supplements you’ve been downing by the handful. You’re pretty sure if a doctor was here they’d tell you not to do that, but it’s working so far. While some of the material from the eggs and sausages has been used, both for the cartilage growth and as fuel for the reactions, most of it is just getting distributed or being used to make storage for the excess nutrients from the pills. You experiment with trying to compress your flesh as well as your bones to keep the new mass from being readily apparent. While the flesh had been faster to respond to your mental commands than the bones, the bones are oddly enough easier to compress. Still, you manage to force your body to comply with your wishes after a bit of practice. It feels kinda like flexing everything all at once. There’s a sensation of tightness and effort from head to toe. It isn’t exactly uncomfortable but it’s certainly distracting. You have to focus on it at first, but after a while you find yourself just kind of maintaining it without thinking while you focus on your bones. You decide that what your teacher doesn’t know won’t hurt him. If he thinks you’re burning everything he’s feeding you powering the use of your powers on your fingers you aren’t going to clue him in on the fact that you’re managing to store a good bit of it for later use. He told you himself that keeping some secrets to yourself is smart after all. He’d probably approve. After the turkeys are delivered he tells you to stop for a moment. He goes and grabs another jug of water, sets the roasted birds in front of you and pulls out a few more bottles of supplements. “Alright” He says as he sets them in front of you “How do you feel kid?” “Good” you say, flexing your fingers “I think I’m getting the hang of it.” “Sure looks like it kid.” He says with a smirk. “You pick things up fast and you don’t bitch. That’s good, very good.” “Now” He says “Take a break for a minute, use the facilities if you need to, and then come back here. When you get back we are going to start the next step.”
>>3529470“Thank you sir” You say and you get up and stretch. As you stretch you think about what you’ve seen your teacher do, turning his hand into a damn working dinosaur head and mimicking Lex Luthor. You’ve got a long way to go. Though that thought does bring up a question you’d had. “Sir, You mentioned that copying someones look took a lot of time and effort right?” You ask him.“He looks at you with a somewhat bemused look. “Yeah, why are you asking? I told you to hold off on that till your ready.” “Of course” You reply quickly “I was just wondering Sir.... well, why are you so good at copying Mr. Luthor’s face.” He looks at you for a minute and then throws back his head and laughs. “Worried I’ve been using his face for nefarious purposes? Defaming him maybe?” He says with a smirk. “Ha, I wish. No, he hired me on as a body double to attend some meetings for him while he was collaborating with the Reach to take over the planet.” ….What? “To quote dome-head. ‘While it is necessary that I appear to attend these meetings for the sake of maintaining our business relationship with these aliens until we are ready to make our move, to place myself at risk by going in person would be imbecilic.’ He had a telepath hook us up to each other and I went as his mouthpiece. Damn good money too, hazard pay you know?” Seriously, What? “But that’s a story for another time” He says as he chuckles a bit more. “Don’t want to smash all of your illusions about society all at once. Go take a walk kid, hit the head, and then come back. You nod, and then go take care the necessities. When you’re ready you head back in. When you walk through the door he’s munching on one of the turkey legs. He gestures for you to sit down next to him.
>>3529476“Alright” He says after swallowing. He pushes one of the turkeys up to you. “Next step. Lie down on your back. We’re going to start working on other bones besides your hands. Rather than trying to grow everything at once and overwhelm you, we’re going to practice one section at a time so you get used to working with them, and then combine it all.” You lie down on your back and start repeating the process you’d just done with your fingers on other bone groups. Your arms, your legs, your ribs cage. Your spine. It takes hours, cycling through one section at a time. After each section Larson has you get up, walk around and stretch out. Take a short break, and then you lie back down and start on the next section. You go through both of the turkeys, and the next turkey they send up after those. You burn a lot of it. Doing larger body parts is a lot more energy intensive. As you grow the bones you have to grow the muscles to match, and then when you’re done you have to compress the lot. Slowly but surely you feel yourself getting heavier, denser. You feel like your body is more solid than it had been. Your original size is accompanied by a faint sensation of pressure and tightness, and expansion feels like your pushing against a wall and slowly forcing it back. You’ve been at it for hours. The light filtering in through the windows is tinted orange from the setting of the sun and the fluorescent lights have come on, when Larson claps his hands together. “Alright, it’s time.” He says. “Time to put it all together kid. Lie down on your back and do the lot, all at once. Go slow though, you don’t want to rush it and botch something. Speed will come later, for now focus on not making mistakes.” Lying down you focus. By now the sensation of manipulating your bones is much more familiar to you then it had been this morning. You focus, and then you start to grow. Your limbs lengthen, your rib cage swells and your shoulders broaden. It takes a few minutes, but when you’re done you feel good. You sit up and look at your hands, they’re as big as plates. You could probably palm someones skull in one hand easily. Larson whistles and then holds out a hand to help you to your feet. You take his arm and let him pull you up. Once you’re standing you realize that you’re actually taller than him now. Not by much, but he has to tilt his head up slightly to look you in the eye and give you a smile. You smile back. “Good job kid.” He says “Damn good job. Now, go ahead and walk.”
I think it came out ok.
>>3529484Flush with confidence you take your first steps...and nearly fall flat on your face. Larson chuckles behind you as you stumble to catch yourself. “Did better than I did the first time I tried to mimic a T-rex.” he says as he chuckles. “Everyone thinks I was trying to crush Robot man with my bulk, truth is I just tripped. Least you didn’t land on your face. Here, lean on me.” He walks up next to you and extends an arm, and using him as a crutch, you stumble around the room. After a few laps you are able to release your grip on him and walk on your own, and after a few more he urges you into a slow jog for a bit before telling you to stop. “Alright, that’s enough for today” He says. “Shrink back down.” You concentrate and start compacting yourself, feeling the sensation of pressure build as you shrink back down. It’s quicker than growing had been, it takes a lot less mental effort to make your body return back to it’s original proportions than it did to force it to grow. It feels natural. “Well kid I don’t know about you, but I’m bushed.” Your teacher says as he makes his way over to the pile of stuff he had been retrieving jugs of water from throughout the day. “Wonder what time it is.” He pulls out a watch and looks at it and then curses. “Shit.” He turns around to face you and says “Well kid, we went a bit over time. Dinner is almost over. Headmistress probably won’t be happy, but don’t you worry about that I’ll take care of it. I can get something delivered to your room if you want to go rest, you’re probably exhausted.” What do you do? >You are exhausted, though not necessarily hungry, going back to your room and vegging out sounds great.>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.>You are pretty tired, but you don’t want to waste the time vegging and you don’t really feel like seeing anyone. Maybe you could see if there’s a library and do some research or pleasure reading. >Write in.
>>3529485That's fucking awesome anon. Thank you. Now, If you all will give me a minute, I need to type up some mechanical stuff. There's some information that needs to be imparted regarding the fruits of our day of labor.
>>3529490>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.So wait, are we physically stronger now in our smaller form?
>>3529497+1 that's what it sounds like
>>3529490>You are exhausted, though not necessarily hungry, going back to your room and vegging out sounds great.Library option is tempting, but it's no use trying to research when tired.Speaking of, it's almost 3 a.m for me, I gotta crash. Thanks for running E-16!>>3529485Daaaamn. Nice work anon, very nice.
>>3529497That's going to come up in a bit, but you've just consumed like three turkeys worth of biomass not including the eggs and sausages and Incorporated a good chunk of it into yourself. It may not seem like a lot compared to the kind of gains people have been talking about while discussing eating whole cattle and whatnot, but it isn't anything to sneeze at either.
>>3529490>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.
>>3529503Go sleep man, thank you for being here.
>>3529490>>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.I like this guy. Gonna be a real shame when we inevitably have to go up against him. Also when we go full 7 feet, is everything proportional? By everything, I of course mean... everything. Shit should be like a dream come true for a 14 year old nerd.
>>3529490>>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.
>>3529485That's pretty good anon.
>>3529512>Look down at our foot long cock>"Huh, it didn't grow with me."
>>3529504Did we eat the bones too? Powdered bone broth soup aint half bad....>>3529497I think we are denser, so we probably have more damage resistance and stronger bones by default.
>>3529526Based. Gotta wait til we hit the shower rooms to say that.
>>3529485can i save this, this is some real good work
>>3529546Of course anon.
>>3529550kind of want to keep it as a possible future look/persona for us so what program did you use and how did you keep the style the same?
>>3529555I normally use GIMP 2.There's quite a few different methods I used.At the end I added some noise to it to make it fit the original style a little better. For the armour I just copied some of the texture and edited it slightly before pasting it over where the spikes were.I used the smudge tool a little too much in some places, it works pretty well when combined with a half transparent brush.
>>3529568i am a msp user so i had one third of a idea what you did
>>3529568can you make like a under jaw for this? its supposed to be like a skull but a biohazard symbol and i did not make it i just have it in my folders and this could be like our symbol
>>3529490>>You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went.Super villain name, Biohazard? Bioshock?
>>3529615We aren't decided on our path yet.I think Ouroboros is a good villain name and Synthesis is a good hero name
>>3529615Someone suggested Taxon last thread, that one's cool. Rolls well off the tongue.
>>3529597>>3529615>>3529617>>3529626>>3529619a biohazard like symbol would work for us
>>3529615Biohazard isn’t bad, leans towards the villain side, but will work as a antihero or hero name too. Support.
>>3529638How, though? Mercer may have been an inspiration but we're straight up cellular manipulation. The only thing that's really similar is the ability to consume, but even that's not really connected to a bio hazard symbol.
>>3529638But are we even going to use a soopa suit? Don't we want to be sneaky and/or turn into a monster?
>>3529626Nvm, I’ll switch to supporting this. Much more versatile and fits what our ultimate power set will most likely end up looking like.
Alright, mechanics blurb incoming. Buckle up. Due to the nature of our powers I’ve decided that I will need to add a few mechanics to represent them and make training with your power worthwhile without just throwing power dice at you. That, and I think it will be fun and add a bit more depth to your decisions in combat. Therefore, we are introducing two new mechanics for your use. The first is Forms. Through rigorous training you have created Form: Big guy (1)Forms can be assumed through a successful powers roll. While in a form it adds dice equal to it’s quality to applicable rolls. These dice can stack with both your cliché dice, and your power dice for applicable rolls. Forms may subtract dice from rolls they are unsuited too. For instance certain forms may be bad for sneaking around, while other’s may not be useful for a fight. You remain in a Form until you either voluntarily leave it, or take damage equal to it’s quality, which forces you to abandon the form.Form: Big guy is currently quality 1. Spending time in this form and practicing with it to familiarize yourself with the new form will increase it’s quality. The second mechanic is Combat tricks. Combat tricks are practiced actions that can allow you to get an edge in a fight. An example of a basic combat trick would be to grow yourself a small bone blade to shank someone with. An advanced example would be turning your hand into the head of a dinosaur to bite someone. These represent combat applications of your power that you have practiced before hand, rather than on the fly creative uses of your power. A combat trick has limited uses, equal to its quality. Therefore, if it’s quality is 1, it can only be used once in a fight. A combat trick functions as a pump for a single dice roll, increasing your dice pool by a set amount. However unlike a pump, use of a combat trick does not cause you to take damage.1/2
>>3529653if we can change pigments we can put it on our skin and remove it if we want
>>3529657The advancement of your forms and combat tricks will directly effect the advancement of your powers. Your number of power dice will increase when the combined quality of your forms and combat tricks reach a predetermined threshold. For example if you have a form of quality 2 and a combat trick of quality 2 the combined total would be 4. The threshold for your first increase in your power dice will be a combined number of 5, at which point your number of power dice will go up from 3 to 4. You are currently at 1/5 for upgrading your power dice. No pool can go over 6 dice, however in the instance of your powers when it has reached 6 dice it will be possible to continue to progress. In the event that your powers pool is at size 6 and you earn an increase, the number of dice in your pool will be reduced to 5, but the size of the dice will be increased. For example if you have 6d6 and you earn an increase you would then go to 5d8. If you get to 6d8 and then increase it further you would go to 5d10, and so on and so forth. If you have any questions or objections please let me know. I’m going to be putting together a paste bin of the mechanics for easy reference, and will put a character sheet together. There should be no further mechanics introduced after this unless absolutely necessary to represent an evolution of our powers that can not be represented with what we have already. I’m going to go eat, and then when I get back I’ll call the vote and get writing. Probably be 40 minutes to an hour.
>>3529657>take damage equal to it’s quality, which forces you to abandon the form.Hmm, I don't know about this. We're shifting our body, are we not? Why would taking damage force us to revert back? Unless it's from losing biomass and not having enough to sustain it, but surely we can still maintain it as much as we can (e.g. big guy form but an arm's gone).
>>3529672good questions we dont revert if we dont decide to revert
>>3529679or atleast it seems like that
>>3529615I'd think it depends on if our character picks his name, or HIVE assigns it. I like biohazard and ouroboros for the first, or If it's the second one, what about parasyte or maybe krieg?
>>3529672This is true, but on the flip side forms would need to have other limitations to replace that. Ive thought of two possible alternatives to simply reverting:1) every action while in a form, roll a d6, where dc == (8-(quality))/2 rounded up. Moderate Success means nothing happens, major success(6, or DC+4 whichever is lower ) means success with a benefit. minor failure means a minor malfunction, major failure(1 or DC--3, whoever is higher) means a major consequence.
>Based on the mc from prototype>In DC where the most heroes names end in -man>Not going for the most universe appropriate name
>>3529700>damn my fingers2) Forms have significant drawbacks that accumulate over time and can only be fixed by reverting back to normalize. For example, using Bane Mode could create micro-fractures in the bone, which lead to braking more bones in combat. This would leave the exact consequences up to the op and less to the die.
>>3529623well obviously were not gonna stay villains but for the meantime, until we can free terra and friends we ain't going nowhere.
>>3529704Well Bio-Man sounds like we work in sewage.
>>3529704ok meat-a-manham-manbiomorph-manmorph-man bio-man
>>3529700>>35297081 holds the same problem for me as reverting due to taking damage: it's as if we're going through a temporary transformation rather than actually changing our body's shape. Maintaining our current form shouldn't take concentration because it's just the form that we're at - we've already forgotten stuff like our claw and teeth before. I do see it as a natural consequence of taking on an uncomfortable form though, like when we were shifting our flesh before.I think 2 is something that will actually just happen naturally whenever we make new forms. Right now Big Guy mode is just... a big guy, so no drawbacks.
>>3529707>>3529718>>3529720I can't tell if I'm getting fucked with or not.
>>3529597Maybe?What do you guys think?
>>3529731Glowing Red version
>>3529731>>3529733ok you do good quality stuff
Looks like an undead anteater skull.
>>3529731It gives me jellyfish vibes more than skull. The shape of the top kinda reminds me of a Metroid. Mostly though, it's the jaw part, feels too long.
Okay, I'm back. >>3529728>>3529700>>3529672Alright, I hear what you are saying and I get where you are coming from. So, lets work this out. I want to keep the mechanics fairly simple to keep things from gumming up under the need for multiple rolls to resolve a single action. I'd like to stick to things that either add or subtract from your pool of dice, and simple dc checks. Keep things streamlined y'know? What I've realized is ultimately it doesn't really mater from a mechanical stand point if you technically stay in the form, if you take damage your dice pool is going to go down. So we'll just apply damage to powers and cliches like normal, and you can leave the damage to the form as the last one to go, unless you want to drop it earlier, but dropping it will be your choice unless you literally get absolutely smashed down to the last dice. The weakness, or drawback to a form, will be the time spent assuming it. To assume a form there will be a DC check. If you pass the check, you assume the form without getting caught flat footed while changing. If you fail the check, then you still manage to assume the form, but they get you while you are changing. The higher the quality of the form the lower the Dc. So basically you take a round to try and assume the form. If you succeed you just increased your dice pool. If you fail you take some damage, which may or may not even out with your new gains. Amount of damage to be determined by how badly you fail the check. How's that sound? I feel like it's pretty consistent with what's been established so far.
>>3529708>>3529700>>3529657I don't really like the idea of having to revert or having downsides to being in a form.Like the other anon said, we're changing our body. We should stay in it until we decide to change it again. Being reverted back on taking damage doesn't make any sense to me.I don't see why we need a mechanical method to encourage us back into our original form - it should be a narrative thing, if we want to stay in a new form 24/7 then so be it, that is our new body.
>>3529742I feel like that’s more of a positive than a drawback though. An abstract skull is way better for a career in villainy, especially one that can easily be confused for a jellyfish.
>>3529757*heroism, not villainyz
>>3529742Here's a more compact version.
>>3529752This is of course assuming you are trying to shift during an active combat situation. You're not going to get btfo lying in your bed just shifting.
>>3529657Could you explain the dice again please? What the booklet you are using called?
>>3529752>The weakness, or drawback to a form, will be the time spent assuming itThat makes a lot more sense to me.If we get practiced then we can jump to a torm in a flash but if it's a new form then we need to get lucky ... and the newer or more complicated the form the more thought we need to put into it to shift in time
>>3529752Sounds pretty good, a compromise between mechanics and lore. But that brings up another question: how will a non-cliche buff work? Will form powers always slot into cliches? Will a form that doesn’t align with a cliche automatically get slotted into power? For example, if we make a form that can move really fast, would that still add a dice to the power pool? Would a form that increases our brainpower increase our nerd pool?
Honestly I think another system would fit our character better.
>>3529764No problem. So basically your character is described by a series of Cliche's. Ours currently are Wallflower (4)Nerd (4)Hacker (2)and power dice (3)When you try to do something appropriate to a cliche, like a nerd knowing trivia, you roll the dice pool for that Cliche. Dice are d6 unless specifically stated otherwise. You add up what you rolled, so if I rolled 3 dice and they came up 1 2 and 3, i'd have rolled a total of 6. When you are doing a skill check you are trying to beat a set number, a DC. So something easy might be DC 5, something hard would be more like 10+. If the combined total of your dice is higher than the dc you succeed. In combat you and your opponent both roll the dice appropriate to what you are trying to do. Whoever rolls the higher total wins the combat round. The looser takes damage, which is represented by loosing a dice from the cliche they were using. We can stack our power dice with an appropriate cliche for an action that uses both our powers and one of our cliche. A pump is when you push yourself beyond your limits knowing it will hurt you. This adds a number of dice to your pool for a single roll. So If I had a cliche of 4 and I pumped it for 2, then I'd roll 6 dice. But, after that your cliche takes damage equal to the number it was pumped by. That's it.
>>3529752I definitely like this method more than before.>>3529757Fair point, though I'm not sure about a jellyfish being our symbol regardless. I guess if we're also abstract in it's meaning? Like the many tentacles representing all our many forms.>>3529759Oh yeah, much better than the other one.
Well I've opened up a real can of worms here. >>3529768When you are in a form, that form will act like a cliche and provides dice appropriate for things that form would be good at. So big guy is good at big guy things, like hitting stuff or being scary. If you make a big brain form it will be good for big brain things, like solving problems. Big guy will give no dice for solving problems, and big brain isn't going to help you hit things harder. For all intents and purposes they are cliche's that describe your character only while you are in that form. I hope that addresses your question. >>3529774There may well be anon. There may well be. When it comes right down to it no form of abstraction is perfect. I picked something I felt would work for me, for the purposes of running this quest. Something simple and quick. Now I've fucked up and complicated things a bit, but I still think it's pretty simple and I still think it will work well for my purposes with this quest. I wanted something between the extremes of just rolling d100 with a dc, because that wasn't quite meaty enough for me, and some of the more complex systems I've seen used here on quest with multiple different stats and damage mechanics. I thought this would hit just about right where I wanted it. I didn't quite envision how the quest would evolve, and it looks like I got a little over enthusiastic and in trying to evolve with it I may have made a mistake, but honestly I think that >>3529752 will work pretty well. I'll be honest, I don't want to switch systems. I'm sorry if it isn't to everyone's liking, but it works for me. I hope it can work for all of you as well, but I have no desire to try and learn a new system and re-stat our boi. Not at this point. I just want to explore a collaborative story with you all and play in the young justice/DC universe sand box a bit, not do more book keeping. Now, I'm going to get back to writing, and I'm going to try and get the next write up done for tonight and then I'm hitting the hay. If you wish to further discuss mechanics feel free to do so, but I probably won't be responding to any further mechanical inquiries until tomorrow.
>>3529857this is actually a fun idea for a system
>>3529756Maybe it should be we take damage only we we won't have enough energy stores for the revert. So we either stay in our form until we do or we revert back at a cost to our heath, which makes some sense...Perhaps the damage comes from our flesh being turn and shifted around by the musculature changes, since flesh is attached to bone...
>>3529763so rapidly changing or shifting can cause damage? I can live with that.
>>3529873same and it makes some sense
>>3529857I like something a nit more developed than just 'roll1d100'. This system sounds pretty elegant to me, not tok complicated but not too simple either.Same with the test to change form quickly
>>3529490While going and resting is tempting, you want to know how Tara and Caitlin and the rest of the gangs first days went more. You might have missed most of dinner, but you could probably catch the tail end of it and see your new...friends? Acquaintances? Fellow kidnapees? You aren’t quite certain what you are, you haven’t known them very long and you wouldn’t want to presume, but you’d like to think of them as friends. “I think I’ll head down to dinner anyway” You tell your teacher. “Maybe relax in the common area with some other students I met yesterday.” “Alright, have fun kid.” Larson tells you as he waves you towards the door. “Go on ahead, I’ll tidy up. See you in a few days for your next lesson.” He then turns and starts picking up the bottles and plates and stacking them onto one of the empty trolleys. With that clear dismissal, you figure it’s alright to leave. You hop on down the stairs and make your way to the cafeteria. Despite your late arrival there’s still a good number of people there. Looking around the room, you can see that cliques are already forming. It seems that teenagers will be teenagers, even if they're at super villain academy rather than in a normal high school. The white haired Gothamite is sitting at the same table he was last night on the opposite side of the room. In addition to the redhead and the blonde you can see he’s been joined by a pair of older boys, a smaller one with dirty blonde hair and pretty fit one with black hair. There’s also two smaller groups sitting towards the middle of the room. One is made up of the large pacific islander, a short Caucasian kid with broad shoulders and thick mutton-chop sideburns, and the tall black kid you could have sworn was stretching yesterday. The other is made up of an Asian girl with long hair that’s either been bleached to a bronzy color or who’s been mutated a bit by her meta-gene, a tall black haired guy with a hook nose and his hair shaved close to his skull, and a short Hispanic kid.
>>3530013Then, there’s a few kids who are sitting alone. There’s the silver haired girl who had done the whole floating resonating voice thing sitting off in the corner away from everyone else, a petite girl with a pixie cut that has a purple streak dyed in it, and the old woman whom you can now see clearly and confirm is in fact an older woman. Though she looks younger than she had. Still someones grandma, but you could have sworn she was more decrepit than that yesterday. But to be fair you did only really see her from behind a few times and hadn't really payed her any attention other than that. Finally, there’s your group, sitting at the same table you had occupied the last few meal period. Your table now you guess. As you step in the door Liz sees you and nudges Tara, who turns and waves at you with a smile and gestures for you to come over. You wave back, but looking at them, you notice something. It’s not odd per-see, but there is a very obviously empty space at the table. Caitlin isn’t with them. >What do you do>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is. >Head straight over to them and ask how their days went. Caitlin probably just ducked out early, not a big deal. >Call out to your friends you’ll be there in a second and try approaching the petite girl with the purple streak in her hair, you know how it is to be alone and it sucks. Maybe she’d like some company> Call out to your friends you’ll be there in a second and try approaching the silver haired girl. She may have been creepy, but it was probably a misunderstanding and no one should be isolated. >Tell you’re friends you’ll be there in a moment and go talk to the old woman. You have no idea what she’s doing here, and you kinda want to know. >Write in.
>>3530016>>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is.She clearly wasn't in a good state the last time we saw her.
>>3530016>>Call out to your friends you’ll be there in a second and try approaching the petite girl with the purple streak in her hair, you know how it is to be alone and it sucks. Maybe she’d like some company>> Call out to your friends you’ll be there in a second and try approaching the silver haired girl. She may have been creepy, but it was probably a misunderstanding and no one should be isolated. One of these two. More allies is always good.
>>3530016>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is. Talking to the psychic is tempting, but doesn’t feel at all like what a teenager would do. Maybe once we get something to eat and we’ll swing by and check up on her.
>>3530016>>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is.Actually, changing to this.
>>3530016>>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is.
>>3530016>>Head straight over to them and ask how their days went. Caitlin probably just ducked out early, not a big deal. She's probably either still with her teacher, or recovering from whatever her training was.If she's still missing tomorrow, then it's time to worry.
>>3530016> Call out to your friends you’ll be there in a second and try approaching the silver haired girl. She may have been creepy, but it was probably a misunderstanding and no one should be isolated
>>3530016>Head straight over to them and ask how their days went. Bring up Caitlin if they don't mention her during the conversation.
>>3529857>big brain formYES>>3530016>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is
>>3530461>mfw that the way to get psychics powers
>>3530485You didn't post a face.
Okay, this is gonna sound pedantic but...How do our current clothes respond to our transformation? I don't think E-16 touched on that particular point when writing our first shift into Big Guy.Unless HIVE has us dressed in some sorta clothes with bullshit-tier stretching capabilites I'm picturing a seven-foot us with a comically ill-fitting outfit.
>>3530488HE HAS NO FACE
>>3530016>Head straight over to them and ask them where the missing girl is.
>>3529759I tink anons want a biohazard symbol that resembles a skull a little more, like pic related.
>>3530648Oooohhh! I don't know about other Anons but to me, that's a villain symbol if I've ever seen one.
>>3530655A biohazard symbol is villanous on itself and quest has been torn between being a hero or being a magneto-like antihero , that's why I support Biohazard as a villain name, Ouroboros as an antihero name and Shynthesis as a hero name. Remember that our name should be connected to our powers but never reveal entirely what we can do, not every enemy is an idiot.
>>3530648YES YES thats the one i have been searching for i could not find it thank you anon
>>3530648Yeah, no, I don’t think this fits our (current) ethos at all. Maybe if we turn into a full blown villain one day but not otherwise. This just screams malevolent.
>>3530720remember we are a shapeshifter if we dont have several identities we are not doing it right
>>3530737Having a villain identity is also called "being a villain."You can't just go for both and not expect to eventually be caught out.>>3530648That's far too fucking evil for James. As a villain sure but I want to go down the Anti-Hero/Liberator or the Hero route unless something terrible happens that changes our mindset in character.
>>3530762Unless we scape soon, I see Joe/James/Whatever posing as a villain to please H.I.V.E. until he figures how to fuck themup.
Alright I'm back. Give me just a minute, and we will get the next write up done.
>>3530800voting closed by the way. Good to see you all, hope everyone is doing well.
>>3530798Honestly escape by ourselves should be pretty easy if we can get the implant out. Then we can just swim away by developing gills or fins or some shit. But I don't want to go the solo escape route unless we absolutely have to, even if we could just get the Justice League to fix everything or whatever.Posing as a villain might work too.
>>3530762I also support Liberator Anti-Hero path, like Magneto but without the terrorism and racism or the inhumans but open to everyone who wants to join.
>>3530817I personally want to scape with every other kid they have trapped in here, that would not only give us a small army of metahuman allies, also fame as Justice League promising future recruit for hero path, powerful Metahuman concerned with other safety as Liberator path or fucking dangerous and competent monster as villain (if we eat everyone in the facility). Whatever we do, let's take samples from everyone, maybe create microneedles and give hanshakes like a madman or bite enemies and succ (nonlethal takedown or let them dry, you choose). Also scan your own brain to make sure we know if we've been fucked by the "psychologist" in any way that is not regular conditioning.
>>3530914Microneedles the funny thing with that it matches the abstract biohazard skull jellyfish
>>3530016You head straight over to the table where your friends are sitting. You’ve been eating all day anyway, and you don’t know if the cooks will give you anything if you ask this late in the dinner period, so you don’t bother trying to get any food.“Hey guys” you say as you plop down onto your spot on the tables bench. “Where’s Caitlin? She get held up by her teacher too?” “Ah no” Says Ralph as he shakes his head slowly. “She didn’t, got pulled out right before the end of class actually. The headmistress sent someone to take her to the psychiatrist. Reckon she’s still with em probably.” “Might be a good thing.” Says Liz in a considering manner as she taps her chin with her fork. “Big reds been kind of out of it y’know? The psychiatrist could be helpful.” “Might be where they do the brainwashing too” drawls Ralph with a scowl “I don’t think they got our best interest at heart darlin.”Out of the corner of your eye you notice Tara look down at her plate. You can’t see her expression because of the curtain of her hair which has fallen across her face, but you can see her white knuckle grip on her utensils.“So” You say, perhaps a little too loudly cutting off Liz’s response. “How were your classes? Mine was actually pretty okay. How about you Tara?” She peeks over at you. You notice her eyes are a little bit watery, but she blinks away the moisture and gives you a small smile. “I was given several large blocks of stone and told to move them. Lift them, stack them. It was difficult, but boring.” “Ugh tell me about it.” groans Liz as she slumps down onto the table. “So boring. Hit that target, now hit that one without shocking the first one. Higher amperage, lower amperage. Adjust the voltage. Here, feed lighting into this battery! It was so tedious.” “Lightning?” You ask with a raised eyebrow. You never actually asked her what her powers were come to think of it.“Yeah” She says as she lifts up a hand and it crackles with electricity as power arcs between her fingers. “Did I not show you?”“I guess I forgot to ask.” You say. “How about you Ralph?” “Got a video chat lecture from Poison Ivy.” He replies with a bemused expression. “She spent most of the morning lecturing me on our responsibilities to the environment and the evils of pollution and deforestation, then we got around to growing some big ol vines and tested how many I could control at once. Hard capped out at four for now, but she said that was pretty good for my first day and that I would soon be ready to ‘fight for the future of plants everywhere.' not quite sure what to make of it t'be honest."
>>3531079“Poison Ivy?” Tara replies. “I know of her. She was involved in the injustice league yes?” “Did Markovia get caught up in that?” You ask, trying to think back to the Injustice leagues attack a few years back. You don’t think they did.“No” She replies “But Perdita mentioned it at Tea on occasion.”Perdita...oh right. The Queen of Vlatava. “So, what was your lesson like James?” Tara asks you as she looks at you expectantly, and Liz and Ralph lean in with interest. “Learned to grow my bones.” You say. “Took a lot of practice but here, watch this.” You look around to make sure no one is watching, and shield your hand with your body to block line of sight just in case. Then you lay your hand down on the table and start growing it to about the size it is when you’re in your seven foot tall form, and then shrink it back down. “Cool.” says Ralph and Tara claps her hands a bit. “Yeah, nice parlor trick” Says the older blue sitting next to you with a sinful little smile as she leans back and raises an eyebrow at you. “The question is can you do that little growing display anywhere?”It takes you a second to understand what she’s getting at, and then you flush in embarrassment. You hadn’t really considered that, but now that you think about it….Liz cackles at your red face and Ralph chokes on his drink and starts coughing, as Tara looks back and forth between you and the blue girl with visible confusion on her face. “I do not understand” Tara says “What is the joke?” “That isn’t important” You splutter as you try to get the conversation back to a less uncomfortable topic. “So, what’s everyone’s hobbies?”Fortunately they go for it. Dinner period ends as you exchange small talk and move yourselves out to the common room. Ralph reminisces about hiking near his home in the mountains, and laments that he doesn’t have his dulcimer. This kicks off a small good natured argument with Liz about music, who insists that ‘twangy country shit’ has nothing on synth. Tara stays pretty quiet. She mentions her brothers a few times, but seems uncomfortable when asked for details about her life. Neither of the other two make any references, oblique or otherwise, to her being royalty. You wonder if maybe they don’t know. Maybe they didn’t watch the news, or they might have been taken before she was. After all Tara was taken several days before you were, and yet you both ended up here. Who knows how long ago they got snatched. It’s not something you’ve talked with about them. They haven’t asked you, and you haven’t asked them. It’s like there’s a silent agreement not to go there. You do wonder though.
>>3531087Time passes and eventually free period ends and it’s time for you all to troop back to your dorms, and still no sign of Caitlin. You wave good bye to the girls and head off with Ralph. You go back to your room and start preparing for bed, which is when you make a discovery. You have abs now! You knew that you were growing your muscles while you were growing your bones, kind of had to for things to work, and you’d made your new form buff while you were at it, because why not, but you hadn’t considered quite what condensing all of that back down to shrink would do. You look ripped, like there are steel cords running under your skin. You poke at your stomach. Rock hard. Man, this is awesome. Best side effect ever. All the gains, years working in the gym not necessary. Suck it Jerome, so damn proud of your muscles and your achievements on the football field, well whose ripped now Jerome! This guy! This is great, this is….this is a clearly visible indicator of how much your powers are changing your body. One the faculty can observe easily. Shit. This could be evidence that you can store a good bit of what your teacher was feeding you, that you don’t ‘have’ to be eating in order to change. It might be a bit of a leap of logic, but it's possible they could connect the dots. Slowly accumulating enough mass to work with unbeknownst to your kidnappers seemed like a good way to start stacking the deck in your favor, but it’s no good if it gives up the goose. Fortunately, your ‘uniforms are really baggy and loose, and stretchy too as you discovered when you grew. As long as you are wearing it you really can’t tell much bellow the neck. You’ll just have to be careful and hopefully think of something down the line. Maybe if they see it they’ll just think you were using your powers to make yourself look better for vanity reasons. Actually, that’s probably a good excuse. Alright, maybe this isn’t such a big deal, but you’re definitely going to have to keep an eye out for this sort of thing. You can’t afford slip ups.Lying down in your bed, you slip into an exhausted dreamless sleep. The following morning you get cleaned up, dressed, and head to the cafeteria for breakfast. You look over at your table, and see Caitlin talking animatedly with Tara and Liz with a large smile on her face, gesturing animatedly with her hands to illustrate whatever it is she is saying to them. It’s a massive shift from how reserved she had been the first dinner, or at breakfast yesterday. “Well now” Says Ralph as he slips up besides you. “That there looks like some mighty effective therapy.” What do you do?>Suspiciously effective. Go ask Caitlin about last night and try to learn more>Best not to pry, if it comes up it comes up, but you’ll leave that up to her.>Best to avoid the issue, steer the conversation away from the topic by speculating on today's lessons. >Write in.
Be back in a few hours, two to three.
>>3531095>Suspiciously effective. Go ask Caitlin about last night and try to learn more
>>3531095>Best not to pry, if it comes up it comes up, but you’ll leave that up to her
>>3531095>>Suspiciously effective. Go ask Caitlin about last night and try to learn morehas anyone ever noticed it looks kind of better without male nipples even if it looks less human https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlNDv8lV77c
>>3531095Wait, we are still 14 right? Our age hasn't been retconned was it?>Talk smack about the headmistress and the guards. It could be a good laugh, and if Caitlin responds strangely then we know she's brainwashed. Also anons. We need to run before any more of us have therapy sessions.Eig, on the next night would it be possible for us to, or at least try to, work out roughly where we are via the stars? Would that fit with our cliche?
>>3531116Supporting this write-in.>Would that fit with our cliche?Pretty sure it would, but I think we'd need to read up on... (navigation? astrology?) - first. James/JJ is a biology nerd, after all.
>>3531116support, also first learn biology, then eat a few migrating birds and replicate their orientation sense (or read about them and justify it as solving the equilibrium problem in future warforms, birds have an incredible resistence to getting sick while doing werid manouvers while flying)
>>3531178We ate turkeys didn't we? do they have the migratory deal?
>>3531271No, they don't. We'd have to catch a seagull or some shit.
>>3531095>Eat breakfast. Why didn't we try t oat least eat a little bit or have food sent to our room? That probably raises red flags, and there could be camera's in our rooms too.
>>3531095what else i vote on try to eat some food
>>3531095>>Suspiciously effective. Go ask Caitlin about last night and try to learn more
>>3531289Then they alredy know about us being on peak human shape from one training session. If they know about every external effect of our powers, then we should focus on things with little external impact, like making our organism the most efficient and effective we can: when muscles are required to work harder than they're used to or in a different way, it's believed to cause microscopic damage to the muscle fibres, resulting in muscle soreness or stiffness. Solve this by using local regen, which combined with a better waste management and oxigen/nutrient transport, will increasing our stamina. Create new bones, tendons and muscles in our base form, rearrange our joints for maximum flexibility and mobility, get rid of all useless parts, change the internal structure of our body to be a "natural" superhuman (something like Captain America but better).
Alright, gonna be a bit longer than I'd expected. Just got news a friends having some issues, so I'm going to be held up. Just letting you all know, I don't think I will be back in an hour.
>>3531379Hope everything's okay.
>>3531379I hope everyone's okay Eig.
>>3531374Well we missed dinner which probably raises eyebrows to anyone seriously observing us. They might decide to cut back on our food to better control us in difficult situations or as disciplinary measures if we are shoved in confinement or something to that effect.
>>3531389We were training. If anyone gets shouted at for that it's AVM-Man.And we were literally eating there to fuel our powers. If they are observing us they will probably just discount it as a 14 year old nerd wastefully giving himself muscles with his power.
>>3531400No I mean after the training, we didn't eat more food to fuel us so to keep up the image of how energy intensive we want them to think, so they can probably better gauge our "fuel tank" so to speak. I'm assuming they have low level mooks or goons watching our every move and reporting back anything of note or discrepancies.
>>3531095dont forget to eat as much as you can you must keep the facade up
>>3531406probably a way to keep it up but this is most likley a stupid idea is to grow larger with time like the mutation is trying to reach a "base form" growing larger but skinnier more compact so we have a excuse for our diet they dont want to risk starving there growing mutant supersoldier to death we are still a growing child of 14 summers and winters think of it as super puberty
>>3531439I don't want to limit our size just keep up a image of how much energy or feed we need to fight or make transformations, as I feel that keeping that closer to our chest would be beneficial. I don't mind if we bulk up a bit and put on some fat I think we should definitely do that.
>>3531476what? please explain? what did you think i meant?
>>3531483>most likley a stupid idea is to grow larger with timeI dunno. I reread this twice and I still feel retarded.
Things are going to be okay, but I'm needed here for a bit. Emotional support and all that. >>3531116Yes, you are still 14. No retcon. Just ripped. I had abbs when I was 14, figure it ain't odd that your character would. My apologies if I confused you. And yes, reading some star charts and figuring things out is well within your cliche nerd.
>>3531491my idea is too instead of compacting we expand under the guise of a "base form">>3531476and how the heck did you get this idea"I don't want to limit our size" its the opposite we grow larger, keep looking skinny making them think our "base form" that our kind of normal body is growing larger in some weird superpowered puberty this way they dont think we are bullshitting about our energy needs and stuff this way we can eat as much food as we can and continue bulking up fuck my grammar is just bad and my punctuation is even worse and i am ranty like a god damn old man, that dont remember how to use a with the rotating dial tv thing so you cant sit in the sofa FUCK i actually cant remember how to use one >>3531510i have never seen a 14 year old with abs thats not the weird record holder for youngest strongest person thing
>>3531476Getting fat is the opposite of what we should do: Fat means that we are storing mass or that our body can't process all the food we have eaten. If hive sees Mercer with a little overweight, they'll limit the food either because they think we want reserves to escape or because we don't need more food to shapeshift. We should make them think that, as long as we aren't using our powers, we eat only a little more than a regular kid, that way we explain not eating dinner today. We could also pretend that our powers are immature because we are a 14 years old, so they will fully develop as time passes, requiring more biomass.
>>3531510>And yes, reading some star charts and figuring things out is well within your cliche nerd.I underestimated how much of a nerd James is
>>3531095>>3531526Oh and I'll support >>3531116 if vote isn't closed yet
>>3531526never underestimate a nerd we know things like a human is one of the creatures with the biggest dicks for our bodily size and that we mated for size instead of most other traits and how to make napalm and things like blackpowder with eggshells or rockets out of sugar when i think of it way too many things that could be used to hurt people bodily lots of things how to burn down buildings and people in a alleyway with chemicals and how ot build a nuclear reactor in a garage from old glowing clocks
>>3531546ok why do i know how to make explosives out of the metal out the parts of a engine in kitches fans?
>>3531526>I underestimated how much of a nerd James isOur nerd stat is 4 out of a maximum of 6 anon, our nerd sight allows us to perceive the world in strange ways.

>>3531512>"base form"Yeah I'm down with that.>>3531512>rotating dial tv thingWhat?>>3531514I was thinking more alone the lines of compressed "fat" or muscle that is shaped to look like fat. I'm certain we need some fat anyways because its easier to convert than muscle, but if density of fat and muscle is the only argument, why can't we compress the fat and packed it just as tightly as we do to muscle?
>>3531597You don't understand how much I want to go full Freeza on almost any possible opponent.>"THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!">forms get bigger and bigger up to final form which is just a small streamlined Kryptonian/Martian/Metahuman/whatever hybrid
>>3531621we could do that i would see it as a thing a unsocial young nerd would do thats the mc and it would be pretty funny to read
>>3531621Why do we need to transform when we can just compress a springy loaded limb and extend it at will? It would cost us less energy and burn less body "mana". Course the setback is, it would be harder to make out something we need specifically. Trade off customized weapon for a specific need for more universal one like a bone blade that we can pop out at will or a stretching tentacle limb that is all coiled up.
>>3531883For the style points.
>>3531889We'll get a skateboard.
>>3531883Mechanics wise, because forms give us bonus dice. Why would we not transform? Especially when what you talked about sounds like a Combat Trick, which means they can work very well together.
>>3531920We can do both can we not? I want to be able to conserve our energy use until we really need it, our battle with that muscle meta human whats his name? Mammath? Really shows we need to have better reserves and use our power more carefully and intelligently.
>>3531937Yeah we can do both, which is why they work very well together. Remember that for Mammoth, we were at our most unprepared: just found out our powers and had no extra biomass, scraping for every bit we could muster. Don't think we'll reach that state again anytime if we can help it.Still not sure if shifting stuff around and transforming expends any actual energy. We've gotten hungry before but we were exerting ourselves physically and using everything for biomass anyway. Would we be able to shift mass we already have freely?
Well, I'm finally home.I'm going to get some sleep, and then I will update first thing tomorrow when I wake up, and will try to dedicate some more time to this tomorrow. I should be pretty free, so we'll see about doing some shorter voting periods and more updates than usual. I'm sorry not much got done today, but real life takes priority. Voting is still open. Looks like we have a tie at the moment based on the count I did while contemplating staying up to write. We'll see what it looks like in a few hours. >>3531381>>3531384Thank you for your support. >>3531512I suppose I should clarify that when I say abs I mean visible abdominal muscles and not necessarily a full 6 pack. Active life style and and a good diet for low body fat percentage and it ain't that hard. >>3531995Shifting mass you already have isn't completely free. There is some cost, but it's negligible really unless you're trying to make really big changes. See you all in a few hours.
>>3532485Wolverine claws when
>>3532521Whenever we want actually. Minus the adamantium anyway. They sound like a good combat trick to learn.
>>3532615Without the adamantium we probably wouldn't be able to make full size wolverine talons - they'd be too fragile and likely to snap. We could definitely make some bone spikes maybe 5'' long or so.Then once we get a bit more experienced start incorporating biometals into them a la limpet teeth or deep-sea snails. That'd allow us to extend the talons another couple of inches and maybe shape them more like knives than spikes.Another trick once we've got the skill would be to line the spikes with nematocysts. One strike to deliver a bolus of neurotoxins and then we just stay out of reach until they drop dead. Even if they're too strong to be killed by one dose or we're in too much of a rush to wait the minute or two it would take for them to lose consciousness ... well they'll lose control of whatever limb we punch almost straight away and that'd make the rest of the fight a damn sight easier.
>>3531589We are going to wear lots of straps or latex lots of latexA stupid idea so when people hire us we give them a cataloug for our personas and pretend they are there own person or they can like order what they want for a job like how our doom patrol villain teacher is kind of like a actor >>3532615There is a reason why horns and bones are round
>>3532831<We give them a catalog with many personas.>They choose the horny maiden. >Nope. Also yes, lots of shapeshifted latex (unless we go for the totally normal civilian clothes).
>>3532926There is going to be much leather
Did not expect to oversleep that much. Okay, I have one thing, just one thing to attend to real quick, that will take me about 2 hours, and then I've got nothing else for the rest of the day. So, I'm going to go take care of this, and then I'm all yours for the evening. Eight hours or so of my undivided attention. Looking forward to seeing how far we get.
We should have a Danny Devito-esque form.
I am sorry about the delays, but I swear I'll make it up to you all.
>>3533031Don’t worry about it, we appreciate that you keep in touch
>>3533031you keep in touch with us then most do with there parents also have a kermit as thanks for keeping in touch
We could use some of the spare time to decide what to do next, make something that resembles a plan at least. We can't bruteforce our way out right now, and staying without measures to counter the brainwashing is a no.
>>3533031No apologies, only punishment. Execution is the only option.
>>3533057I don't think we can counter the brainwashing without figuring out how exactly it's done and actually being able to manipulate our brain. We've got too little experience. Gotta find that sweet spot where we've stayed around enough to have the experience but just before we're full HIVE
>>3533088>I don't think we can counter the brainwashing without figuring out how exactly it's doneI PRAY it's the more mundane kind of brainwashing and not the "forced psionic laundry day in our head" kind! The way I see it, HIVE using mundane brainwashing would mean that we potentially wouldn't have to rush escaping so much.
Alright, calling the vote, and writing.
>>3533242If they use chemicals and conditioning via shocks and subliminal images or that kind of shit we could deal with it easily, the only problem would be faking it's effects to avoid getting a visit from Psimon. We could observe and replicate a mix of what we see in others after they visit the psychiatrist (the problem is if they reach a supposed high level of loyalty and ask us to kill another student/innocent as a trial). When we get psy dna and a decent understanding of psy powers, we disagree with one of Headbitchstress orders/suggestion and get a delivery of fresh Psimon ready to get lobotomized.
>>3532831careful now someone might freak out at the thought of latex clad fetish villains!
>>3533451we could make our skin leather like to mimic clothes in some way
>>3533479Why not go nude and have a freaky bad ass bone Armour meat suit that doesn't give us hot or cold sensations?
>>3533497>Why not go nude and have a freaky badass..>Why not go nude.No but seriously, the good thing about being a shapeshifter is that we can wear whatever we want, whenever we want.
>>3533515the question is if we can make the clothes and make them convincing, leather would be the easiest due to it being made out of skin already
>>3533515Won't it be time consuming to get all the little details and texture of inorganic clothes correctly? What if we need to take off our hat or jacket in public like a restaurant?
>>3533541I was just going to mention leather.... But doesn't it undergo a chemical treatment then drying?
>>3533541>wearing skin made out of human leatherSlow down there leatherface.
How does Mercer in the games actually do his clothes? Maybe we can replicate that.
>>3533558It could be leather from anything. Could be crocodile skin if we want.Spider Silk will probably be our go-to for clothing though
>>3533563He just eats people and steals their character model.
>>3533558did you forgot our power we just make our own outer layer look like leather
>>3531095Suspiciously effective therapy, you think to yourself as you get in line to grab breakfast, loading your plate high. It’s omelets today. You tell the cook to throw in everything, all the veggies and meat options and extra cheese, and then ask for two of them. Then you look back over at your friends. Now you aren’t a therapist yourself, and you’ve never been to therapy, but you were under the impression that it takes time. It could be you’re just being paranoid, and that Caitlin was just feeling a bit out of it and all she needed was some rest, but her sudden change of demeanor right after her “therapy” session sure doesn’t feel like coincidence. As you approach the table you contemplate how to go about it. You decide you won’t just straight up ask, at least not immediately. You’ll test the waters a bit first. See if there are any other changes besides the smile, a new outlook on life here at the H.I.V.E. maybe. You decide to start by making some unkind comments about the guards and the staff, see how she reacts. If she jumps down your throat defending them, then you’ll know for sure something is wrong. If she doesn’t, then you’ll ask outright. “Hey James, hey Ralph” says Caitlin with a sunny smile as the two of you sit down at the table. “Pleasure to see you to darlin” replies Ralph with his own grin. “Hi Caitlin, Tara, Liz” You say with a smile and a nod for each as you sit down and then apply yourself to your first omelet, waiting for the right moment to enact your plan. After a few minutes when the introductions are done and there’s a lull in the conversation you point over at one of the guards in the corner. Ever since that first night in addition to the guy on the catwalk they’ve had one or two on the ground floor as well. “So” you say as you gesture at the uniformed man “Where do you think they get those guys? Put out an add online maybe? Jackbooted thugs wanted, must be comfortable with the kidnapping and imprisonment of minors?”Liz snorts and Tara looks at you with wide eyes, glancing around nervously as if to make sure no one heard, while Ralph just sighs. You’re focused on Caitlin’s reaction though. Caitlin brings a finger up to her chin and adopts a thoughtful expression. “Maybe they train them in house.” She says. “I don’t think they’re PMC. At least, I’d like to hope they aren’t PMC, but I suppose they could be. If they aren’t, there is a large population of ex-criminals who often have difficulty finding lucrative employment. Perhaps they recruit and train them. Or they might just hire active criminals depending on their connections with organized crime. Of course this is assuming they hire out of the United States. If they recruit internationally, which they likely do, that opens up numerous possibilities...”
>>3533558I'm glad moralfags are on edge, but seriously, relax man, the edgenons in this quest seem more focused on utilitarianism than pure evilness.
>>3533586She trails off and then blushes and looks at you all sheepishly “Sorry, I think out loud sometimes. Mama always told me it was a bad habit.” Well, that was not the response you were expecting. Still, she didn’t defend them. That’s probably a good sign. Maybe they didn’t mess with her head, or if they did perhaps they need more time before it shows results. “S’fine darlin” says Ralph, and then he asks “PMC?”“Private military contractors” Says Caitlin as she tucks a strand of hair behind her head. “My father was one after his term of service ended.” Things quiet down again after Liz makes a joke about what kind of qualifications you would put in an internet add for jackbooted thugs that falls a bit flat, and you wait a little longer before you move on to the next part of your plan to figure out what’s going on. Beating around the bush didn’t quite hit on anything, so you’ll just ask outright. “Hey Caitlin” You say as you look over at her. “Forgive me for prying, and if you want me to drop it tell me and I will, but I was worried last night when we didn’t see you at all during free period. Was everything alright?” “Oh” She says “Yeah, everything was fine. I was just talking with Doctor Wax. I’m sorry if I worried you, but it was fine. Really. Doctor Wax just helped me come to terms with a small accident that occurred when my powers were activated.” Her eyes glaze over just a bit as she speaks, and her smile seems kind of stiff. “Accident?” Asks Tara as she looks over at Caitlin with concern “Were you hurt?” “Oh no” says Caitlin cheerily. “I wasn’t harmed at all. When I came to after the procedure I was naked on a table and my measurements were being taken by a scientist and it startled me. Startled him as well, I wasn’t supposed to be awake yet I think. In any case, I slapped him as hard as I could, and his head sort of just popped.”She tells you this with a sort of unnatural mechanical cheer, as if accidentally killing a man is no big deal, and she has no issues with it. “Doctor Wax helped me to understand it wasn’t my fault.” She says, still smiling. “He really is a very nice man.”Tara is white faced and looks horrified, and Liz and Ralph are staring at Caitlin in shock. What do you do?>Ask Caitlin if she’d grab you some fruit, try to get her away from the table so you can talk to the others. >Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.>Continue your line of inquiry and ask Caitlin about this “Doctor Wax” >Write in.
Voting will be open about an hour, forty five minutes or less if we get enough to establish a clear majority quickly, and then I'll start the next write up.
>>3533600>Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.I see, very cool!
>>3533595yeah i am not into that evil for evil crap i am not even into evil its more about having a practical and pragmatic attitude
>>3533600>Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.Right. Definite brainwashing. We need to gtfo fast.
>>3533600>>Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.Hmmm. Headfuckery, trauma, or traumatised headfuckery?
>>3533623like they would only use one so why not all?
>>3533600>Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.>"I see, that's very cool Caitlin but second opinions should always be sought after.">"Anyway, my instructor told me that Lex Luthor is evil and tried to take over the world with aliens!"
>>3533600I also vote to ask when everyone's earliest scheduled therapy session is.
>>3533600>>3533628Supporting.Well alright then. Brainwashing confirmed, just not to as large an extent as I thought. Starting it off slow, likely can't turn the students into murderbots right off the bat. Certainly can make them comfortable with killing, or at least accidental killing.
>>3533623>>3533627I dunno... hard to tell from just the little Caitlin said. Might not be anything too heavy-handed at this point, maybe this "Doctor Wax" just... expedited the healing from trauma? At least it's good her memories aren't altered. In any case, this just confirms that HIVE is going kinda slow and steady on the brainwashing.
>>3533600>Take Tara’s hand to try and calm her down and hope you can shut up the other two with your eyes and act as if nothing is going on while changing the conversation topic.
>>3533635Even if you expedite the healing and rationalize the murder, it isn’t “normal” for someone to shrug off inflicting severe trauma to someone else
>Doctor WaxI might have found our man.https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Agent_Wax_(Wildstorm_Universe)
>>3533600>>Continue your line of inquiry and ask Caitlin about this “Doctor Wax”
>>3533646>rationalize the murderIt was an accident. She didn't kill the guy on purpose.
>>3533648>The mental pushes are temporary along with the fact those affected can remember they've been hypnotized and must be constantly exerted to have long-term effects.Huh. If they're the same guy (and the powers are the same), then this means if we get away in time the effects could fade and Caitlin goes back to normal.
>>3533654Anon do you understand how murder works and the traumatic effects it has on humans?
>>3533654Then it's manslaughter, that's not the point.
>>3533664It still isn't murder, dude. In fact, it's most likely even more traumatic for her because she never intended to actually kill anyone.
>>3533648Ha, okay. This guy being on base isn't TOO bad, going by a cursory look into his powerset.Shit will hit the fan if any of the Fearsome Five or HIVE's head honcho you-know-who show up though.
>>3533600I say we stock up on food, eggs and whatever doesn't go off, immediately. Practice exerting control on others as soon as possible, and practice with our powers during lights off to boost our power dice! The food is to hide our practice.. hopefully.
>>3533674>SpoilerYou mean the Queen? If Kane is here then the Queen's not involved, I don't think. Probably will be after a while, though.
Right, seems like they didn't implant loyalty, but did rip out her PTSD. Unless she actually asked for them to do that, I am horrified. And we can't exactly trust her word on that.If we copy an organism's traits, does it scale up to our size, or is it diminished somewhat? For instance, there's a mite that can run 322 body lengths per second, and if it was human sized that would be 1,300 mph (2,100 km/h), slightly past the speed of sound. So if we eat one could we mimic it to move at supersonic speeds, or just very, very fast. Also I made a pastebin wishlist with animals with useful traits. There's no animals with for us to get mobility from because that depends on whether or not their traits scale up, I'll repost it depending on what the answer is.https://pastebin.com/AU9cWSTU
>>3533703>Also I made a pastebin wishlist with animals with useful traits.Anon.. holy shit, I appreciate it!
>>3533703some tricks just dont work when teh size is changed
>>3533703I would imagine that it could be faster or slower, considering there would be less surface area to volume, meaning less air resistance, proportionally. But it also means that we need more structure to support it and more heat venting due to the vastly increased volume to surface area ratio. (Also strange stuff starts happening at such small scales, dunno if there's a special effect it exploits.)
>>3533664Anon do you understand how manslaughter works and the traumatic effects it has on humans?>>3533665It is the point Im making. If he only gotten rid of the feeling of guilt from her traumatizing memory it's not that bad. If he make her feel good about murder it's very bad. What's yours point?
>>3533703This is good shit anon. For now, we should probably focus on stuff that doesn't have a visible indicator, like the dolphin eyes.
>>3533595I'm just joking around. I actually am one of the edgeanons. I legit want to eat people.
>>3533706Eh, Most of this stuff I already did for another thing where the protagonist has animal shifting. Speaking of which, new pastebin because I didn't fully remove that character's name.https://pastebin.com/L80b33XQ>>3533712There are totally exploits and smaller sizes. That mite would shatter it's limbs from the force before flaying itself from the wind if it moved at supersonic speeds at human sizes. There's a reason that if you start measuring speed by body lengths per intervals of time insects start winning everything instead of cheetahs and peregrine falcons.
If Wax makes Mercer fine with killing/using his powers in a more violent way, I'm going to laugh so hard I'll wake up the neighbours. That's just like splitting your group into the creepy forest where a lot of people were brutally devoured yesterday, then covering yourself in steak juice to disguise your human smell and start screaming and moving your torch to scare any possible monster.
>>3533703We could go for the thing Salmon have>Salmon and some other freshwater fish have an enzyme that switches their visual systems to activate infrared seeingDon't need to morph our eyes constantly like this
Well, Looks like there's a pretty clear majority. Calling the vote and getting to work. >>3533648...I give up. I'm never going to slip anything past you all no matter how obscure the character I pick is. Seriously, I went with a minor character from a comic that wasn't even really DC, and whom I only remembered because he creeped the shit out of me at the time and I found him abhorrent, and ya'll figure it out in like ten minutes. Damn google, I thought for sure that would take you all a while. Still, this at least gave me a good image to work with for him since I don't have those issues any more, or a means to scan them if I did for that matter. He shan't be exactly the same. I'm taking some artistic liberties to make him fit how I want, but yeah, you're right. That is indeed the character. >>3533703Damn anon. Nice.
>>3533703the only reason some some tricks work is the stuff that happen when stuff are small like a mite if you copy how it moves to human size and you are X times bigger then a mite then the stuff you are made of need to also be X times more durable/elastic and even then we are not acounting for gravity and air-friction like how a bee is just the perfect size for it to flythose water bugs that glide on teh water surface cna only do that due to water tension but some other stuff is perfect that can be guided with by us and adapted most bug trick really depend on there size and volume
>>3533754the most important thing is to be inspired by other animals and copy paste some so we can improve or atleast mimic it at a bigger scale
>>3533751Always happens in established settings, at least it you use canon characters. I always use a bunch of OC. Also disallow metagaming.
>>3533754Luckily this is comic land so some tricks might work regardless.Superman is apparently solar powered after all yet has billions times more power than he should have.
>>3533751To be fair, you did give a name. If you go to the DC wiki, look at the category page for "Mind Control," you get only one result from ctrl+f "wax."
>>3533754>>3533757but hey this is comic book land >>3533759most of the times its some magic crap or some other dimension it takes energy from >>3533759but remember we are talking about copying small bugs and animals as normal ones and so its best to copy a small bit and then improve it with our smarts.Remember that the only reason why nature is this good is that they have tried billions and upon trillions of times, even then remember nature is not about survival of the fittest its about survival of the good enough its about living and reproducing and not using up more energy then needed to do it.we dont have those limits and we can do with way faster with imagination and the human knowlage of the world we are like the eloin musk and einstein of evolution
>>3533751I agree with you, he is a murderer and a reincident rapist, like really reincident, also now works brainwashing kids into weapons. If we're going to eat someone's brain to get psy power is this guy. Even if heronons win the vote and only take a sample, he needs to die horribly (or get a perma lobotomy).
>>3533751All he had to do was a simple google search.Super power quests tend to get metagamed hard.
>>3533800But won't we become murdery rapey? What if we somehow end up having to battle for control of our own mind or body?
>>3533819i think we dont need to copy his brain completly if we did we would just erase ourself just compare it to ours to look for weird meta stuff
>>3533814Let's try not to metagame at least.
>>3533751What if all the people had alias instead of their villain's or actual names? Then we can be left figuring out who they are based on their powers or descriptions and not really being told the answer unless we find out more about that particular persons background or history? It'd be like a game of clue or detective. An excuse could be given that their real names are not provide due to company policy and to protect themselves from any backlash or something.
>>3533842I try not to, that's why I haven't advocated or joined in on going full Alex Mercer ...... Yet.
>>3533819>>3533824We would just study how his metagen affects his brain to give him his powers and replicate said mutation inside our brain or a secondary brain to make sure we don't go full asshole.
>>3533861Or this could just be an alternate DC universe with different names.
>>3533874Like Batman and Manbat just switched names?
>>3533874Nah, I prefer the "hide your name to make sure they can't track you" stuff, but I'm Ok with giving us a description or a part of the villain's name, it's fun to guess who wants to kill us.
>>3533600Ok, they definitely messed with her head. That is not a normal reaction to killing someone. You grab Tara’s hand under the table and squeeze lightly, shooting her a small smile before looking over at the other two, trying to communicate with them using your eyes to shut up and not draw attention. “That is interesting Caitlin.” You say, “The doctor sounds very good at his job. I wonder when the rest of us will be meeting him. Does anyone have a session scheduled?” “There wasn’t anything on my paper about therapy” Says Liz in a slightly strained voice. “Me neither” Replies Ralph. You look over at Tara and she just shakes her head no. Now that you think about it you don’t recall seeing anything on your schedule about a therapy session, so maybe none of the rest of you are meeting with him this week. “They aren’t regularly scheduled yet” Caitlin pipes up. “I didn’t have the appointment on my schedule before either. Doctor Wax told me that for now he’s scheduling his meetings with students on a case by case basis, and that once he has a better understanding of our needs he’ll be working out a more regular schedule.”Okay, crap. So you could just get called away to meet with this Wax guy any time. That’s problematic. In more important news your hand is starting to hurt from Tara’s death grip and Ralph is looking greener than usual. Time to change the subject before this gets any worse. You’ve found out what you needed to know. “Hey guys guess what?” You say with forced enthusiasm. “My instructor told me the craziest thing yesterday. He told me that Lex Luthor’s evil and was working with the Reach to take over the planet. Isn’t that nuts?”
>>3533938“That is nuts” replies Ralph, latching onto the conversation. “I mean, sure he had that partnership with them for the whole Lexcorp Farms thing, but that doesn’t mean he knew what they were planning. He was just trying to make progress towards ending world hunger.” “I don’t know” Says Liz. “He’s a politician now. There’s no such thing as a clean politician, just one’s with better PR than the others.”“Mama says Papa believed you should never trust anyone who makes more in a month than you do in a year.” Caitlin chimes in with her two cents. “Mr. Luthor is a great man” insists Tara as she looks you in the eye “He brokered the peace in Rhelasia, ending a senseless war that had gone on for generations. A bad man wouldn’t do this.” “Hey I’m just telling you what my instructor told me” You say “No need to get up in arms over it.” “He probably just helped the Rhelasians to boost his image.” interjects Liz “And everyone knows how much he’s outsourced over there. It’s not like he didn’t profit off of it. No such thing as a politician who cares about people, they only care about what people can do for them.” “That is not a fair thing to say.” Tara insists. “My p-..my countries monarchs love their people very much. They work hard for the Markovian people.”Liz smirks somewhat condescendingly, and you can just see her gearing up to knock some naivety out of the younger girl. Only she isn’t just going to be talking down about someones world view if she does, she’s going to be badmouthing Tara’s parents. Your desperate attempt to steer things away from sensitive topics is starting to hit on sensitive topics. Great. What do you do?>Grab Tara and leave for class, get out before things escalate. You don’t know how to fix this, so you’ll run. Half an hour, maybe forty five minutes, and then vote will be called and I'll get started on the next bit. >>3533758>>3533764>>3533814>>3533861I mean I'm not really unhappy about it. I figured you all would figure it out, I just figured it would take longer. I hadn't really thought 'Wax' was a whole lot to go off of, but it looks like I was wrong. I know that whenever I introduce a character and start giving names and more than cursory explanations you'll peg who they are sooner or later, and I'm fine with that. It really isn't a big deal. I actually like seeing you figuring it out, I was just hoping this one would be more of a puzzle. Just have to be more cryptic if I want to stump you all I guess, but that really isn't a huge priority for me. As for Meta gaming, well honestly I expect it. There isn't really much I can do to stop it, and since Meta gaming requires you all to converse with each other, and I want you to converse with each other and for there to be discussion, I honestly kind of want some good natured meta gaming. Like the list of animals thing. That was cool. I might throw in an OC here and there as necessary, but where I can I like to use existing characters. For instance every single teenager here at HIVE with you is based on comic book characters. >>3533955Sure anon, one moment.

>>3533955Okay, so what you know so far. Tara- has told you she is a geokineticRalph- has told you his lesson consisted of a video conference with poison ivy and controlling some giant vinesLiz- Has shown you her power by arcing electricity between her fingers. Caitlin- Has just told you how she "popped" a guys head by slapping him. White haired kid -you saw frost gathering when he was squaring up with Caitlin during the argument in the first dinner hour. Silver haired girl - Floated, had her hair turn weightless and her eyes turn into black pits, and somehow knew Caitlin had killed someoneThe Black Kid - You're pretty sure you've seen him changing heights out of the corner of your eye. Doctor Wax- was clearly able to alter Caitlin's mental state. Larson- Turned his hand into a fucking Velociraptor.Mammoth- was huge and deformed, but incredibly fast and strong. Psimon- weaponized a children's game as his preferred method of controlling people. I'm pretty sure that all the instances of Meta-human ability we've encountered so far.

>>3533947Shit, this is bad. This is really bad. If this goes down like you fear it will it’s going to poison the group dynamic. You’ve seen enough television to know how this goes. People say stupid shit and then the friend group splinters and someone ends up plotting murder. That may be television drama exaggeration at play, but you’re in super villain high school. That makes murder plots one hundred times more plausible. At least. Caitlin is already acting like a sociopath, who knows what’s next.Shit, Liz is opening her mouth. You need to do something now before she says something that ruins everything, you don’t want your friend group to fall apart. You just got them, and they’re one of the few comforts you have in this place. So you blurt out the first thing to come to your panicked mind. “Hey Liz” You say, cutting her off to catch her attention. “You remember that question you asked me last night?” She turns and looks at you, a mildly confused expression overtaking the smug look she had a moment ago. “Well I checked” You deadpan as you look her square in the eye. “And I can in fact grow anywhere” You maintain eye contact and wait. It takes a second, and then she turns purple and Ralph’s jaw drops. You can’t really see Tara or Caitlin’s expressions. That may be a blessing.
>>3534117It would let us change our face without Superman or other bullshit heroes/villains instantly realizing our power includes face swapping. Also lets us have any face we want behind the mask. Also it protects our face and brain.
>>3534125Holy fuck what did you just do? Oh shit, what do you do now? Okay, it’s okay, just move on like nothing happened. Yeah, that’s the best thing to do. “So what classes does everyone have today again?” You ask abruptly as you turn away from Liz, breaking eye contact. “Caitlin, what classes do you have today?” “Uh, Asset preservation in 2-B” replies Caitlin. It takes her a second to deal with the sudden change in topic, and you can see that she’s slightly pink. “How about you?” “I have Acquisitions in 2-A” You reply after glancing at your schedule.“Really?” Asks Tara “Then we will be sharing the class, I have Acquisitions as well.” “2-B” says Ralph. “Looks like I’m the odd girl out” says Liz. “I’ve got electronic warfare in 2-D” Okay, this is working. Good. It’s just like those self help books said. Confidence is key, just fake it till you make it, and all that other trite bullshit. “We should probably get going.” Says Caitlin eyeing the clock. There’s still some time left in the breakfast period, but not much. “We wouldn’t want to be late.” “That sounds like a great idea.” You say. “Tara, why don’t you go ahead and grab us seats, I’m just going to grab some fruit real quick and then I’ll join you. You want anything?” “An orange maybe.” She replies with a smile. “I will see you in class.” She stands up and starts to head off, and Caitlin joins her, but before Liz can get up you reach out and touch her shoulder. “Liz, a moment please.” You say. She stops, as does Ralph. He seems to be watching almost expectantly with a small smile on his face. Bastard probably wishes he had some popcorn. “Uh listen James I’m flattered and all” The older girl says with a slight purple tinge to her cheeks “But I was just messing with you last night. I’m not-”“I don’t think Tara would appreciate it if you insulted the Markovian royal family.” You interrupt her. “She seems to really love her country. Please don’t.” “Uh yeah sure.” She says as her eyebrows approach her hairline and the tinge of purple leaves her cheeks. “I’ll keep that in mind.” Then she smirks at you again, the same wicked smirk she’d sported last night before making her innuendo. “Soo, looking out for Tara are we?” She sing songs. “Does little Joey have a crush? Is it the accent that gets you hard or those big innocent doe eyes?” What do you do?>”We should get to class.” Ignore it. A tride and true utopia for Metas and their families, with jobs assigned to the meta according to their power and skills. Alternatively just regular ass life if you DON'T want to use your powers, though lessons in control would be mandatory, since this new nation would work like others, but be founded on the principles of bettering Meta-Human living.Crown would actually be pretty cool! Y'all think we could go full Manchester Black and give ourselves psychic tumors in our galaxy brains? Maybe the crown can be made of bio-metal! >>3534153Big dick and abs will change a man anon. Get in on this planning too, we're gonna have to bust out of here sooner rather than later. Rolled 4, 2 = 6 (2d6)
>>3534213I wouldn't want to punch a guy with his insides out
>>3534162>but I really want something against psychic shit.Well, psychics don't work on robots so presumably any sufficiently different brain structure would be immune to psychics. The problem is finding something like that. Since robots are the only known example and it works across multiple different planetary origins we'd basically need to find a lifeform that wasn't carbon-based or an animal, or grow our brain around a mechanical backup processor to zap us if someone tries mind controlling us.Hopefully Ralph can make intelligent plant life and doesn't mind us eating them because I don't remember telepathy working on plants in Young Justice. so we could just eat them and grow a few plant-based lobes to our brain as an emergency override.
>>3534221Manchester Black is actually an excellent point. His power comes directly from that little organ thing. If we can copy anyone's power it might be his, and that makes us a very high level telepath too.As for our chips I say we poison the asshole with the control box.
>>3534236I'd imagine not being able to psychic plants would be more due to unfamiliarity than impossibility, which would still be useful.
>>3534221Are there even enough metahumans out there, particularly those that would be interested in joining us, that we could form our own fully independent nation? I've been thinking about this and it's possible that it would be more of a community than a nation. Also Manchester Black definitely sounds like someone we can copy but to actually get him first is the problem. ...Maybe just wait for Superman to kick his ass.
>>3534220Hey Monitor, I'm enjoying this quest a lot so far. There's a comic about bodily manipulation called The Strange Talent of Luther Strode. I think it would serve as a decent fuel for your creative fire. Best regards.
>>3534291Also Manchester Black is a Martian Manhunter tier telepath so copying his brain growth will really boost us.Full on King of Markovia route would probably be fun. Also if we're legally the ruler/married to the ruler of a country the league can fuck off.
>>3534221Well ok, I can help. If I know my laws of narrative(and I do), the macguffin always has a way to stop the ticking clock. Well, the obvious shiny object here is the father box, so I’m willing to bet it has a failsafe to cause the chips to extract themselves. So all we need to do is take a father box without anybody noticing. How we do that, of course, is another question entirely.
>>3534323Steel is strong. But flesh is so much stronger. Hell we could end up looking like pic related if we want. Would be dope.>>3534291Well I say "nation", really the size of the territory would match to fit the population. Show says there's somewhere between 150k-160k meta humans being traficked, that's like, a City-State? Medium city at least. What are the chances HIVE actually HIRES Black I wonder? >>3534362Well alright, first order of business, incapacitate the nigga with the father box, instruct father box to deactivate the chips and rally our Meta-Brothers and Sisters. We get closer to our Metatopia every second brothers...
>>3534393The first problem with a Meta Utopia isWell...We've got to convince all the upstarts that we should be the leader
>>3534393Out of those 150-160k, we still have to account for those who would just want to go back home. Then beyond those, we have to consider those who would not want us to lead. This is a point where being a wallflower really messes with our plans. If I'm reading the rolls we just did correctly, then we had to roll a 2d6 for a barely suggestive comeback. As for hiring Black, that'd be HIVE just asking to get taken over.
>>3534129A few days ago you probably would have stuttered out a denial or run. You aren’t exactly used to talking with good looking girls, and Liz is fairly attractive. You’re even less used to being teased like this. But it’s been a long few days. You’ve been kidnapped, drowned in chemicals, thrown into a pit and forced to struggle for your continued well being, and started learning to warp your flesh according to your will. At this point getting teased or dealing with people laughing at you seems so much smaller than it had before. It really doesn’t take too much effort to keep your cool. So no, you won’t run or freak out, but you aren’t quite sure what to do either. After all, you aren’t exactly used to socializing like this. You know you need to do something, and without your own experience to draw on, you think of books you’ve read and shows you’ve seen. The protagonist always seems to know what to do and it works out. They may be works of fiction, but even fables often have small kernels of truth and wisdom right? You’re mind spins through your Rolodex of bold socially savvy characters trying to determine what they would do, and it fires out a solution. “Why, are you jealous?” you reply to her with a waggle of your eyebrows. If she’s going to tease you, you have to tease her back. That’s how this works you think. It’s like a contest, and whoever gets embarrassed first looses. Probably. “You aren’t worth getting jealous over, little boy” She fires back at you with a smirk. “Little boy is quite literally the least accurate description you could apply to me.” You respond quickly. Is it clever? You have no idea, but you know if you stop to think you loose. Quick response matters. Off to the side Ralph clears his throat loudly. “As fascinating as it is to watch yawl flirt.” He drawls “I’m pretty sure we should get to class.” The sound of his voice breaks your concentration. “Right” You say “I should get going.” As you make your way over to grab some fruit, making sure to grab an orange in addition to your own selections, Liz calls at your back “Yeah, you should go. Wouldn’t want to keep your blonde angel waiting right?” You just know she’s got a shit eating grin on her face right now. But Ralph is right, you really do need to get to class. You’ll let her have this round, but you’ll win the war.
>>3534445When you arrive in 2-A Tara gestures for you to sit down next to her in the seat she saved for you. You look around the classroom. There are three other students besides you and Tara. There’s the black kid, the older fit boy with the black hair that you’d seen sitting with the Gothamite who called you the next coming of Killer Croc, and the girl with the purple streaks in her hair who had been sitting alone. At the front of the room, standing next to a projector screen, is a tall woman in a black dress. Her raven hair is sleek and reaches just past her shoulders and her skin is incredibly pale. As you sit down she purses a pair of rather generous lips painted with dark red lipstick and looks at the clock. “Cutting it rather close Mr. Mercer” She tells you. Her voice is smooth as silk and she speaks with a cultured accent. She sounds like old money. The kind of accent you get from etiquette lessons as a kid. “Do try to be earlier for our next session. I do not like to be made to wait.” “You will refer to me as Ma’am” She says as she addresses the class, looking away from you. “I will not tolerate back chat, nor any manner of shenanigans. You will pay attention, and you will give me your best effort, or there will be consequences. Am I understood?” There are murmurs of assent from the other teenagers in the classroom and she nods her head sharply. “Excellent.” She says. “Then let us begin. Tell me children, what do you think the most important aspect you would need for a successful heist is?” Well, that confirms your suspicious as to the nature of this class. Acquisitions was a likely enough euphemism for theft after all, but there’s something different about being casually asked about your opinion on how to steal something. She looks at you and the others expectantly as you sit there quietly. “Come now children, no need to be shy. I won’t punish you if you are wrong. What do you suspect the most important aspect of a successful heist is?” “Skill?” says the boy with the black hair tentatively at first, and then with more confidence as he keeps speaking. “You have to be able to get past the security measures, and that takes skill.” “Skill” She says slowly, and hums. “Yes, skill is important. You do need to be able to circumvent their security measures after all, and that does often require no small amount of skill. It is this line of thought that holds up that home wrecking whore Kyle as the greatest thief alive.”Her fast twists slightly at this, as if she had bit down on a lemon or something similarly bitter.
>>3534456“While a passable answer I would contend that skill is not the most important aspect of a successful heist.” she tells you all as her face smooths back out. “Rather, the most important aspect of a successful heist is one’s preparations. One’s plan. If you know what their security measures are, and can therefore make adequate preparations to circumvent them, you are far far more likely to succeed than if you relied on skill alone.” “Always remember children that the true master thief is a master planner” She tells you. “Not just a limber contortionist or a skilled safe cracker. When you have completed my course you will be more than just safe crackers and infiltrators, you will be master planners, and therefore masterful thieves.” What follows are hours of lecture on planning. Lectures on blue prints, on identifying potential points of entry on a variety of buildings, on learning how to figure out camera arcs and time blind spots in their coverage, all with visual aids and in many cases scaled down replicas that the teacher has you gather around in the front of the classroom. Intellectually the challenges she poses are quite fascinating. How do you get over the wall? All of the conventional entrances are guarded by armed men and covered by cameras, how do you get in? There are three cameras in the hallway spaced out at five meter intervals, each camera makes a sweep of 90 degrees and covers a section of the hall, how do you get past them? The cameras are fish eye lenses with a near 360 degree field of view, what do you do? It reminds you of some of your favorite heist movies, like oceans 11 or the Italian Job. Sadly, it’s a lot less fun and a lot more complicated than the movies make it out to be. There’s a lot of tedium involved from what little you can gather, since you have to account for all kinds of small details, but it’s still pretty cool.
>>3534462Then about midway through the day the lectures end and she leads you all outside, where there’s something of an obstacle course that has been erected. She forbids you use of your meta powers, and then you are set to acting out the scenarios you had discussed in the class room. Climbing over walls, dashing to avoid the sweep of red lights representing cameras. It’s all really quite intensive. You do alright since you can kinda cheat by using your powers on the down low, but Tara struggles and you have to help her in a few sections. You can tell she really isn’t used to this level of activity. By the end of the day when your teacher informs you all that the lesson is done and that you are free to go to dinner you are tired, but you can’t deny it’s been an informative experience. What do you do?>Try and reach out to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair and invite her to eat with you and your group instead of sitting alone, and then try to rope her into socializing with the rest of you for free period. Now really quick, just gotta put something out there, cause it's important to have all the information. Some anons have mentioned using Tara to get an in with Markovia. This is certainly possible, but is unlikely to end with you as King of Markovia, as she has two older brothers who are ahead of her in the line of succession. So unless something happens to them, you aren't going to be ending up as King, or more likely the royal consort. Now I mean anything is possible, but that's something to keep in mind. I am not saying this to shit on the idea of pursuing that possibility. I'm just putting that out there so anons understand all the relevant information.
>>3534511And then Alex Mercer was evil because fuck you.I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.
>>3534468>Try and reach out to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair and invite her to eat with you and your group instead of sitting alone, and then try to rope her into socializing with the rest of you for free period. More friends can only be a good thing. I think there are two factions of students forming. Our friends and the kids that hate us. I REALLY want to study anatomy but more friends means more safety. At least until we can turn into a mass of tentacles and gore that terrifies and rips apart our enemies. Until then, friends.
Alright, ten minutes and then the votes getting called. Last call for votes.
>>3534514They could be a problem. Ah well, we'll just see what happens.
>>3534518>Try and reach out to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair and invite her to eat with you and your group instead of sitting alone, and then try to rope her into socializing with the rest of you for free period. More friends can only be a good thing.
>>3534514>Unless something happens to themOh, I get it. "Accidents" happen. Accidents involving tentacles and teeth. But if we end up in that route, I'm happy with being the husband of a princess. You have all the benefits of royalty with 0 responsibility ruling a country.
>>3534514At least we can still make the nation more metahuman-friendly. I doubt they'd be huge dicks toward the people that saved the princess... and the princess herself. If we form a separate, independent nation, it also helps to reach legitimacy if another recognizes it.And at the end of the day... we're only 14. Building and running a nation is not quite something we're prepared for just yet.
>>3534514What about working for her as her bodyguard ?That'll get our boye a sweet job, nice pay and a home
>>3534535Why not just marry her then?
>>3534468>Eat your dinner quickly and then say good bye to your friends see about finding a library and if they have any medical texts. If you want to remove the control implant you’ll need better understanding of the nervous system than you have.
>>3534541I dunno anon, maybe because that doesn't always work out?
>>3534541Cause our boye must be freeThat and I wish the waifuing would be lessened for at least a while. We're still in a teenage evil army camp
>>3534541We already held hands...
>>3534546>>3534548Yes but I want to be a prince. Being a bodyguard is lame.>>3534549Ah shit. It's already over.
Well, that's the end of the vote. Now I'm going to need you all to roll me nerd (4d6) real quick, and I need to make some rolls of my own.
Rolled 5, 5, 4, 4 = 18 (4d6)>>3534555
Rolled 6, 2, 4, 2 = 14 (4d6)>>3534555

>>3534596Ah I see, it's Japan's fault.
>>3534602It was all because of Japan!
>>3534468As you make your way to the cafeteria with Tara you start to plan. When you probed the control device you failed. If you are going to circumvent it then you are going to need much more knowledge about how the nervous system functions, and you aren’t arrogant enough to think that learning about the intricacies of your nervous system will be easy or fast. If you’re going to learn what you need to learn in time to get yourself out of here, you are going to need to get to work now. It’s been nice to talk with your new friends in the evenings, but other than the free time you were given at night you aren’t sure when you’ll have the opportunity to do the study you’ll need to do, so socialization will have to take a back seat tonight as you get an idea of how much you’ll need to do. You grab your dinner and then start powering through it as soon as you sit down. Fortunately tonight none of your group seem to be missing. You keep one ear open to the conversation going on at your table, but other than agreeing at the appropriate times by nodding your head you let the conversation flow around you without participating. The topic seems to be music again. Caitlin is trying to convince the others that classical music isn’t boring, with some support from Tara. Who is really advocating opera rather than pure orchestral music, but still there seems to be some overlap between their tastes. Ralph and Liz seem rather unconvinced however. As you stuff your face, it’s chicken roast and grilled vegetables this evening, you look out at the other inhabitants of the cafeteria. It’s immediately apparent that the group sitting at the opposite side of the room is bigger than it was before. The Gothamite and his group have been joined by the grandma and the tall kid with the shaved head who had been sitting with the Asian girl and the Hispanic kid before, though the smaller boy who had been part of the Gothamite's group before is missing. The Asian girl and the Hispanic kid have fallen in with the black kid’s group, and the silver haired girl and the girl with the purple streaks in her hair are still sitting off alone.
>>3534739After you finish your meal you turn to the others and tell them “I’m going to head off early today.” “Are you feeling alright?” Asks Ralph as the others look at you with concerned expressions. “You’ve been awfully quiet.” “I’m fine” You reply with a smile. “I’m sorry if I worried you, just a lot on my mind. And I’m tired I guess. I was going to see about getting myself a book and chilling for a while.” “That does sound nice” Caitlin says with a nod. “I wonder what kind of selection we have access to.” “Well, there’s only one way to find out.” You say as you stand up, and then you approach one of the guards in the corner. They never exactly told you who to talk to if you had questions, so approaching the guard is the best thing you can think of since you don’t see the headmistress or any of the teachers around. You walk towards him slowly with your hands up in what you hope is a non-threatening manner, but he still stiffens up when you approach and one of his hands drops down to rest on the butt of the pistol he has at his hip. “Can I help you.” He says in a somewhat hostile manner. “I hope so” You say. “I was hoping to get some reading material. Is there a library I could use?” “One moment.” He says and then he tilts his head slightly to speak while pressing at something on the side of his helmet. “This is Johanson. I have a student requesting reading material.” He keeps the hand not on the but of his gun up to his ear and then listens to something you can’t hear, before telling you. “There isn’t a library, but you can have a tablet delivered to your room which has a large number of texts downloaded onto it. If you want anything that’s not on the tablet, then you’ll need to get permission from a teacher or the headmistress.”“That sounds fine.” You say. Actually that is less than ideal, but there isn’t much you can do about it. “Could I get one delivered please?” “Of course” He says “Just tell me your name and I’ll radio in to have someone send it along.” “Joseph Mercer” You tell him, and he nods. “You’ll have it in a few minutes.” He tells you. “Just go to your room and wait.”
>>3534742So you go, and before long there’s a knock on your door and a member of the staff in their ubiquitous uniform gives you a tablet. You check to see if it’s connected to any networks, and find that it isn’t, at least as far as you can tell. You’d need to conduct a far more thorough investigation of the devices hardware and software to be sure, and it might be beyond your means to determine with certainty. In any case, you have it, and time is wasting. You check the database. There are indeed a large number of books downloaded to the tablet. Thousands it looks like at a glance based on what you see in the directory. After a quick search you find a few hundred or so medical texts. Further searches narrow that down to about half a dozen books dedicated to neurology that look promising. You crack open the first one and get to work. It’s dense stuff, filled with medical jargon you don’t understand. You have to flip back and forth to reference texts and a medical dictionary that you found in order to start making headway, but make headway you do. It helps that you can compare what you read with what you feel through your new senses as you look at your nerves and poke at some of the peripheral strands out in your fingers and toes. You get through the introductory chapters and have started diving into the real meat of it when the voice of the headmistress comes over the intercom announcing lights out. You’ve got a long way to go, but already you are feeling more confident in your eventual ability to figure something out. But that raises the question, if you are able to get your control device out, what are you going to do about your friends? You put away the tablet, which does in fact continue to function after lights out, and lay down to rest. That the tablet kept working is good you think, means they aren’t controlling it remotely. Maybe. They could also be trying to make you think they weren’t in control of it. They could be monitoring everything you look at, but they would have kept track of what you were reading if it were physical books anyway. You decide not to worry about it right now and go to sleep. Morning comes all to soon as you are awakened by the alarm going off over the intercom. It's time to get up and start the day. What is your plan for breakfast?>Talk to your friends and ask them about how their classes were yesterday. >Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreaker>Try to talk to the Silver haired girl. >Bring the tablet with you, keep studying. >Write in.
>>3534746Let's keep studying and go full nerd.
>>3534746>>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreaker
>>3534746>>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreakerThe chances of them monitoring what we study on the tablet is near 100%, so we should probably make a token effort to pretend to read stuff that doesn't look as suspicious, along with our actual research. Try to obfuscate our intentions a little.
>>3534746>Talk to your friends and ask them about how their classes were yesterday.
Now, really quick, before I pop off to bed. Few mechanical things. Regarding the advancement of your nerd dice, that will advance when you've completed a set number of successful evenings of study. The success of an evenings study will be determined by a roll of your nerd dice. Breakfasts and dinners spent studying at the expense of other possibilities will count for half of an evening session. The target number is rather large, as you are already quite advanced in the nerd cliche, and may take some time to reach. You can choose to try and rush through these as quickly as possible if you were so inclined, however if you do so you will be neglecting other opportunities, and may find certain paths being closed to you. Your choices will always have consequences. If you have questions regarding this, as always feel free to ask, and I will respond as best I can.See you all in the morning.
>>3534746>Bring the tablet with you, keep studying. >mfw we escape and become a doctor instead, living a comfy high class life.Real talk though, if we can work well with nerves, we can do some cool somewhat freaky stuff like grow eyes or create reflex loops that would bypass the need for us to process danger, for example, dodging bullets becomes much more possible when your body instinctively knows when to dodge. (Allows us to, in a sense, program our body to react in certain ways to stimuli without our processing of it.)
>>3534746>>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreaker>the smaller boy who had been part of the Gothamite's group before is missingGuessing based on the rolls that he's dead, injured, or getting Wax'd.
>>3534746>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreaker
>>3534493I prefer Alex James Mercer.>>3534511What? You must be confused there was only Infamous 2 that came out, Prototype never had a sequel.
>>3534746>Bring the tablet with you, keep studying.Considering we're under TIMED conditions, where we don't know how long we've got, we should study as much as we can at first.Also.>Voting to stock up on food.>Voting to practice our powers after lights out.>Voting to be a nerd and locate where we are via the stars.
>>3534746>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreakerNo one should be alone in this situation but maybe someone else from our clique would be better at approaching her? Also we should think that there is possibility that one of us is ONE OF THEM.
>>3534746>Try to talk to the Silver haired girl. Shes a psychic mind reader right? Having one on our side would be useful and may even help us resist, undo, or even prevent mental tampering.
>>3534878Why don't we sit next to them and get to know them both, see if we can bring both of them over to our table at the same time.
>>3534842It has a sequel
>>3534909What are you talking about. There's only one game in the series. A great game. Yup. No other.
>>3534782Something we should do when we're advanced enough is replace the myelin on our nerves with a better insulator. That would greatly increase the speed of our thoughts.
G'day Anons, what's going in this thre->So much spaghetti>the waifu wars begin>All this far-future planningGoddamn timezones and the need for sleep preventing me from catching all this live.>>3534513>James is a flower due to his foot in mouth tendencies and torrential outpour of pasta from his pockets.Hey, the pasta outpour is only a problem if we let it stay at the level of common homecooked pasta!>>3534602>>3534666>See pic attached
>>3534955>the waifu wars beginThere can't be a waifu war when there's only one contender.Agreeing with you on the time zones. There aren't many quests active when myself and the other brit/euroanons are awake.
>>3534959>Agreeing with you on the time zones. There aren't many quests active when myself and the other brit/euroanons are awake.Just do what I do. Fuck your sleeping schedule.
>>3534961>Just do what I do. Fuck your sleeping schedule.I already do so anon. Been sleeping at 4-5am the past four days, and wake up around midday. Thank god for weekends.
>>3534959If you're considering Tarahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3elwDp1tC0She's shit no matter what universe she's in. At best she's a good friend, at worst a means to an end to establishing our meta-utopia. Sure the only other options are Caitlin and Liz who, despite saying she's "not interested" and was "just joking", seems to be very fixated on our dick that can change size and shape for maximum mating presses. and I feel your pain anon. Greenwich time a bitch and a half. >>3534910Hey, Prototype 2 isn't the worst thing. I'd argue it actually expands on the gameplay but leaves a bit lacking the narrative department, especially with cutscenes looking like a bad noir movie. Other than that it has all the charm of Prototype 1 with some added features and polish! >>3534746>Try to talk to the girl with the purple streaks in her hair. Use yesterdays shared class as an icebreakerHonestly I want to talk to that silver-haired chick, the one who did all the floating and spooked Caitlyn. She could be VERY useful in the future.
>>3534978I would rather do without waifus. The choosing will only cause disharmony and having one makes Jim too human.
>>3534978Bet you liked battlefield V.Pee2 killed the franchise, a few game trinkets isn't worth losing hat could have been as successful as infamous 2.
>>3534980But anon think of the powers our babies could have. Think of the EUGENICS! We could be an inhuman bastard by virtue of having children, not out of love, but out of our want to see the meta-race grow ever more powerful under us!
>>3534982How dare you. You know my mother was Battlefield V. And besides, it really isn't that bad. Sure it's not InFamous levels of Narrative and Gameplay, but it's servicable and fun. Hell, Prototype 1 was just as much if not MORE of an edge fest, which is what made it fun. It revels in its mediocrity, and if it can own it, then all the better!
>>3534983>EUGENICSCalm down there Endeavor
>>3534978>she's shit no matter the universe. She hasn't had the horrible stuff that turns her unstable happen to her yet. Also we both know that no matter the universe statement is bullshit.Fuckin evil Supermen and good Jokers exist in some of them.
>>3534987Was your mother Europe? That explains all the holes from the pounding she got in the last two wars. You can have good game play mechanics in principle and still fail hard if one or more of the crucial aspects of your game does not hold up to snuff. Just look at Mass Effect 3 end or the spinoff Andromeda.
>>3534996And I never said you couldn't, just that you don't need one or the other to be fun. Prototype 2 exemplifies this through its fun gameplay, but shite story. I'm just saying I liked the gameplay, despite the shit story. I don't know why you seem to not like this opinion, enough so as to miss my JonTron reference
>>3535005The gameplay is ok but kinda gets repetitive, didn't they remove fast and heavy attacks for no reason? That's a shitty change. The game never explains why Mercer became evil.Iirc a comic does. It's because a girl tries to shoot him and rob him. That's it.Anyway, solo breakout to get backup, team breakout or takeover?the Terra waifu train will not be stopped
>>3535005>New 1ID post.Put on a dam tripcode, you IP skipping fag.Anyways.Sometimes other glaring issues or aspects of a game can ruin the rest of it despite being fun in other ways.Never watched Jon Tron, heard of him but no idea about aside from him being a youtoober and voicing a game, and something about nazis?>>3535008I thought it was something about Mexicans destroying his faith in humanity or something. They made the comics AFTER the game I believe, to try and explain away the character 360 moonwalk.
>>3535012Honestly they could've just made the Mercer in Prototype 2 a fake Mercer that split from the real one or some shit and it would've been better written.
>>3535008>Remove fast and heavy attacksNigga wha? You mean like, in the regular combat or the combats involving powers? Cause in the regular combat, yeah they did remove heavy attacks, but they removed it for a reason since play involving powers took precident over just wailing on people with fists. Aside from that they kept and in some cases expanded upon the powers hoping people would have more fun with them. And yeah sure character development takes a backseat, something something virus cult new human race, but hey look you can make a spider-web out of people's guts! >>3535012Make me. As for JonTron, it's a touching success story, evolving from just another AVGN knock-off into his own distinct brand that outlived the site that had been hosting him, greatly improving his production value along the way.As for the Nazi thing, he said not to let in a load of immigrants all willy nilly, amd that doing so would alter politics according to the whims of these new immigrants, who don't always share the same views as the regular citizens.Look at this man. Does this look like the face if a Nazi to you?
>>3534978>>3534993If we are going to start a waifu war, we should do it in a civilizated way. Post a pic of each waifu and why do you think is good. Then wait for someone to make an argument against your post and answer said person (politely).I personally think we should focus on improving and escaping first, but starting the bases of a friendship/relationship with Tara, Liz or any other girl before they get brainwashed could be vital in the future.>Talk to both the purple haired and the silver haired lady. If we can't take both, talk to the silver haired one (we need decent psy powers and defenses before meeting Wax, which considering our powerset and our reading material could be sooner than we expect).
>>3534980eeh, Terra seems like the shoe-in already because of plenty of factors, kinda like X-23 in the Homeless Mutant Quest years ago.Terra has:>Established fanbase>Blessing of the First Girl>Cute>Has that must protecc quality>MC will spent lots of time with her because they're both in the same shitty situation The only disharmony comes from anons wanting to waifu ASAP and anons that don't want waifus. There's more warring going on between moralfagging anons and anons that use "muh pragmatism/Powerlevel" to justify their desire to eat people, be villains or even literally wearing people's faces in the case of that one guy. Forget waifus, the war and shitstorms this quest will have will come from this, which is way more volatile than any waifu war. Also>having one makes Jim too human.>He doesn't want to be a real human bean https://youtu.be/BHgYtKkSEDA
Oh shit Tara's uncle hasn't killed her parents yet, we could save them.
>>3535022Its just stupid opening the borders so anyone can get in and decide the countries fate and people had been arguing for and against voting with no ID so those illegal aliens can vote and give support its like having no ip and spamming votes
>>3535032Are you talking about me i just said we could skip the clothing issue and mimic leather and stuff with our outer layerThen anon goes something like this >calm down leather face
>>3535045Honestly, if it was up to me I would add the requirement of having a high-school diploma or equivalent.>Must be at least 18 years of age>Must be a resident or landowner>Must have finished high school
>>3535041We could. We just gotta get the hell out of here first. We could become the Hero of Markovia.
>>3535041>>3535058Assuming Tara's uncle hasn't already set his plans well into motion - Tara's been missing from home about 5 days, after all.Markovia's ruling family may well already be dead by the time we bust out of this HIVE facility and get back into civilization, and then there's the problem of the fucking control chips.I honestly think that we need to get in touch with the Justice League somehow when/if we manage to escape - I can't think of any other trustworthy organization that would have the necessary equipment/skill to remove the chips. Contacting the League depends entirely on if James can figure out how to remove or hack the chips in the other's necks by himself.
>>3535073If we get our chip out we can just start injecting every staff member with paralytic venom.Get the control box and saving everyone is very easy, hopefully. At least we can immediately try to call the League for help if we solo takeover.Removing others chips is reliant on our ability to affect other people.
>>3535079And if paralitic venom doesn't work on the enemy metas, we could use a big ol boneblade.
>>3535083IT IS THE BONEBLADEKilling is something that while I don't want to do commonly, may be required for our escape.
Well, looks like we have a clear majority on the vote. Calling it and writing.
Rolled 2 (1d6)Hold up just a moment.
>>3535133well okay then, looks like you're doing this solo. Can anyone whose around give me 2d6 real quick please.
Rolled 1, 5 = 6 (2d6)>>3535136
Rolled 5, 2 = 7 (2d6)>>3535136Here you go boss.
>>3535073>I honestly think that we need to get in touch with the Justice League somehow when/if we manage to escapeI'm not being very serious here but how about we store as much mass as we can, go into the courtyard, shift our head/mouth, vocal cords and lungs to be as big as we can make them and still be functional then scream "Superman save us!" while also going https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq_r19xoKJE and making as much sound as possible?Hopefully we won't get shot/Fatherbox'd to death before he gets here. Then again maybe this is too meta? How much do in-universe people know about Superman's hearing? Something to keep in the backpocket if we don't manage anything else before we start getting Wax'd.>>3535048I just did a cursory glance of the posts, my bad, the point still stands going by the previous thread as well though, I'm pretty sure what's going to cause shitstorms and arguments to come isn't going to be waifu wars.
>>3535168>How much do in-universe people know about Superman's hearing?I'm pretty sure everyone knows about the Daily Planet's magic Superman summoning watch. I think they should also know about his improved hearing range. We could also shift our pitch so we scream at a frequency much higher than what typical humans can hear. I suppose we have to make sure that there are no super sense villains or dog-humans in this facility.
>>3535168>Hopefully we won't get shot/Fatherbox'd to death before he gets hereI think if he actually took it seriously, he could get here before anyone realized we did anything. The problem is that we'd be risking everything on the chance that he actually hears us, took us seriously, and isn't busy with some other shit.I have a feeling people in-universe just think "yeah he probably can" when talking about Superman.
>>3535178>>3535179James is a massive Nerd so we can maybe attempt the good ol ...---... sequence as our call.Make it a higher frequency than humans can hear and see if it works.
>>3535188I have a feeling they'd count on some of the metahumans they have to be able to communicate like that and have some way of countering or sensing it. Huge risk. Could be good for if we have confirmation otherwise or just have nothing to lose from doing so.
>>3535198We could just make the equivalent of white noise at a higher frequency that gets progressively louder during lunch where everyone's there. If someone reacts, we know who and how much it affects them.As for faculty/defense measures, if we do it long enough they'll probably jump on our ass, at which point we could play the innocent card and say we were just screwing around and figuring out the things we can shift and how they feel and act during stress testing, maybe throw in a reference to Black Canary so we sound like just an eager student doing extracurriculars, it plays with our Nerd cliché, I'm pretty sure they know we skipped grades, but whether we were a highly competent hard-worker or just a genius, that's doubtful. If nothing happens for a couple of days which would be enough to drive someone mad with the sound, then it's safe to assume they can't pick it up and we can start Morse coding SOS or something.
>>3535217would also be a good exercise working on the lungs ribs and abominal muscles we could do some cool shit with this if we do this right we can shatter glass and make people feel sick
>>3535288If we strenghten our vocal chords and other sound related parts, we could not anly make sonic attacks, we could also hide the mesage behind every sonic attack and point some towards Metropolis at regular intervals. As a plus, if we study where we are and where Metropolis/The Justice Hall is, we can give them an our position (If we can justify knowing it with our nerd cliche or find a way to learn it without raising alarms).
>>3535032But what about a girl so fit she can pop a mans head off?
>>3535343The waifu wars have started. Remember, post pic of your waifu and explanation of why she's the best.
>>3535343Brutish, terrible name. NotAWaifu/qt3.14
>>3535343Too late, she's been brainwashed by Agent Wax. Now we can only try to mitigate her.
>>3535362James, because he can be any waifu
>>3534746As you get up and get ready for the day you decide to yourself that you’re going to approach the girl with the purple streak in her hair this morning and try to get her to come sit with your friends. Sitting alone sucks ass, you know this from personal experience, and it has to be even worse in a situation like this. So you’ll reach out to her. As long as she isn’t a total bitch she’ll probably get along with the others fine. Fortunately you have yesterdays shared class experience to use as an icebreaker. According to the sociology books you’ve read sharing in an experience predisposes people to think of others as members of their in group, particularly if that experience involves overcoming or facing hardship. Come to think of it that may be why your group is gelling so quickly despite have some very different interests. Shared adversity really does wonders for social cohesion. Anyway, you just gotta walk up, introduce yourself, and invite her over. That should be easy. Then you just gotta pass the baton on to the rest of the group, who are much better at socialization than you are. You make your way to the cafeteria and look around for her. You see her sitting down with her tray alone again. Perfect. Time to initiate the plan. “Slice of life sitcom knowledge don’t fail me now” you think as you walk over to her and pause by her table. “Hey” you say with a smile. Alright, contact initiated. Now you just gotta introduce yourself and refer to your shared experience. Start with a complement. Everyone loves complements. Nothing like stroking the ego a bit to butter someone up. “I’m James, nice job yesterday in class.” “Thanks” She says. It’s the first time you’ve heard her talk, she stayed pretty quiet yesterday. She has kind of a husky voice, which is surprising considering how petite she is. You would have expected something higher pitched. “You did pretty well yourself.” Mutual complements achieved, second wave preparing for firing run. Stay on target. ...maybe you should pick a better metaphor, that didn’t work so well for those guys. No wait, no time to think about that, focus on the conversation. “Thanks” You reply with a smile. You gesture over at your friends sitting at your table with your head and say “Hey listen, I was wondering, you wanna come sit with us?” She leans forward towards you across the table and smiles as she plops her chin down on her palm. “So this is where you invite me to join your gang huh?” Shit, you really should have picked a better metaphor. Boogies on your six! Gotta shake em. “Uh” you say intelligently. It’s no good, you can’t maneuver!“No offense kid” She says “but this whole sit across the room from each other and stare thing you and those other guys have going on, it feels like when rival neighborhoods start tagging each other’s turf you know?”
>>3535073Wait, wasn't Tara missing a good five YEARS in the show before her uncle put shit in motion? Like, I remember something about her parents pouring in a load of reslurces into finding her for a long ass time...
>>3535419Well shit, looks like the bombing run failed. “Buuut” She says as her grin gets a bit bigger as if she’s enjoying something. Maybe she can see your internal suffering. “I’ll probably get sucked in eventually anyway, and I’d rather wear your colors. That other guy seems like an asshole. So yeah, lets go meet the gang.” Wait what? Success? Eh, you’ll take it. “Great” You say with some forced cheer. “Come on, let me introduce you, uh...” Aaand you never got her name. Damn it, that’s important. How could you forget that step? “Roxy” She tells you as she stands up and grabs her tray. “I’m Roxy.” “Well then come on and let me introduce you to the gang Roxy.” You say as you lead her over to the group. “Hey guys” You call out as the two of you approach your friends. “This is Roxy, she was in class with me and Tara yesterday. She’ll be joining us this morning.” “Pleasure to meet you Roxy” Says Caitlin as she pats the seat next to her. “Here, sit down.” “Don’t mind if I do” says Roxy as she takes a seat next to the much larger girl. “So, you all know my name now, how about some introductions?”Everyone exchanges their names as you dig into your breakfast sandwiches and congratulate yourself on a successful plan. While the girls are all introducing themselves Ralph looks over at you, glances at the new addition to your table, and then gives you a discreet thumbs up by crossing his arms so that his left arm is underneath his right arm, and when he raises his left thumb it’s blocked from the girls line of sight by his limbs. He also shoots you a little grin, flashing you his wood grained teeth. No idea what that’s about. “Love the hair” you hear Roxy tell Liz. “Thanks, you too.” Comes the reply from the blue girl. The two of them kinda click after that. They discover they have a mutual love of dancing and underage clubbing and the rest as they say, is history. After breakfast you head off to class. Tara isn’t with you today, but Caitlin is. Your class for the day “Interpersonal relations” is in 4-A. When you get there you find a large open space. The flooring is covered in some sort of mats, and there’s a variety of punching bags and some human shaped dummies in the corner. In the center of the room a man is sitting with his back to you. He looks short, if he was standing he’d maybe be 5’6 at best, but he has broad shoulders. He’s shirtless, wearing only loose white pants. He’s kinda swarthy, sorta Mediterranean looking. There’s also two staff waiting by the side with a pair of bows. And arrows, real arrows, you can see the glint of metal at the tips.Okay, you’ve seen enough martial arts movies to know where this is going. Holy shit, you get to learn Kung-Fu! Or Karate, or something. Is he gonna be a Mr. Miyagi kind of guy, or is he gonna be more Cobra Kai?
>>3535435When the hour strikes and it’s time for class to start he turns and stands sinuously to look at you all. You and Caitlin have been joined by the kid with mutton-chops, the pacific islander girl, and the Hispanic kid. “Draw” the man barks at the men on the sidelines startling you. They pull back their bows to full draw and aim at the man in the white pants, and then they loose. As soon as you hear the twang of the bowstrings the man starts moving, his center of gravity drops as he lowers his hips and he spins towards the two men with the bows. His hands move faster than you can see and then he and the two men on the side of the room freeze. You can see he’s holding the arrows. He literally snatched them out of the air. You called it, that was totally something out of a wuxia film, only it actually happened. “You will call me Sensei” the man says as he dismisses the bowmen with a nod and turns to face you and the other students. “If you waste my time I will break you.” He says it very calmly, but punctuates his statement by snapping the arrows he’s holding in his fist right as he says ‘break’. Definitely more Cobra Kai than Mr. Miyagi, but you are at villain school so that makes sense. “Now, remove your shoes and GET OVER HERE” He starts out speaking in that same soft tone he’d been using, but then he bellows the last command. Holy shit you did not expect him to be that loud all of a sudden.
>>3535443Then the torture begins. Stances. So many stances. Feet here, move this way, bend your knees, shift your weight. Hands up. Make a fist. That is not a fist, this is a fist. Palm strike, make sure to keep your fingers tight and curled back so you don’t break them. Do it again, and again. Hundreds of repetitions of just foot work or forming your hands correctly. Take a break, but it’s not really a break get your elbows up, me and some goons are going to beat you with sticks now. Breaks done, knife and ridge hand. Hit this, we’re going to break your fingers intentionally now so you can do these strikes. Don’t worry, the Father Box will fix it. You didn’t need the Father Box personally, not that you told him that, but holy shit this guy is a sadist. You do it right or he smacks you around until it’s right. You’re pretty sure that’s poor teaching technique and is in fact counter productive, but you aren’t going to tell him that. He doesn’t scream, much. He’s very calm most of the time, rather soft spoken actually, and then suddenly something flips a switch and he’s shouting at all of you to move. The only reason you aren’t a mass of bruises and micro-fractures at the end of the day is the liberal application of some sort of red ray from the Father box that stimulates healing. It does nothing for pain though. In fact your pretty sure it makes the pain worse. You also have the advantage of manipulating your bodies processes to help you recover faster from the exertion. The others look even more ragged than you do, and you're pretty sure you're a mess. What is your plan for the evening>Socialize, there’s a new member of the group that you need to make sure remains a member of the group, and should probably find out about.>Practice with your powers, tomorrow is going to be your class with Larson, maybe you can impress him with your initiative if you show up with something new. >Study, that implant isn’t going to remove itself and you don’t know how many more sessions with the little screaming maniac in white pants you can take. >Try to figure out where you are, go out into the courtyard and look at constellations to compare with stuff on your tablet. Gonna be a few more hours everyone. Hope you are all having a good day.
>>3536037Day's been alright Eig, working working working
>>3535572Also for navigation lots of creatures have an inbuilt magnetic compass. The 3 easiest for us to find would be bees, ants, and termites. Eat one of those and we can grow one to know where north and south are.And ants should be pretty easily found.
>>3536295Yes, but eating a fresh bird’s brain and eyes is harder than finding an ant wandering around since ants are everywhere and much easier to catch.
>>3535459>>Socialize, there’s a new member of the group that you need to make sure remains a member of the group, and should probably find out about
>>3536301You can scarf them down, bite their head off. It's not outside the realm of possibility.Besides, I think we would benefit more from sampling a nervous system more complex than say, bees and ants.
>>3536095>beesFuck HIVE.We should try shifting our hair colour as a neat party trick.
>>3536322I doubt James is at the stage where he'd be able to stomach a live/raw bird. Ants are small enough that he can just think of some good memories and swallow in one bite. We can make our way up the food chain. It'd be a lot easier to catch an ant than a bird, too.I'm gonna laugh my ass off if AVM man has us eat live animals anyway to accommodate for scenarios in which we need biomass on the fly.
>>3536368he lusted after the rarer meats, raw animals aren't as far. Especially since cooking is meant to increase caloric content for the ones who don't have an eldritch meta stomach, I doubt any run of the mill pathogens will bother our boye.If anything, cellular machinery that hasn't been wrecked to shit and proteins that haven't been denatured might be more readily usable?
>>3536368>>3536377Pretty much this. When you cook something, it destroys a good ammount of the proteins and DNA I think. We should start eating raw ants, insects and plants (we can get them in our stargazing trip, also, if we find something else like shells I vote for eating)
>>3536377He went all wild cause he was hungry, since by that point he'd used up everything he had and only filled up on half an MRE. I don't think we'll get the return of that James while he's so well-fed.You have a point about raw being better. We should try to actually experiment with this during dinner, see how big the difference is.
Some ideas to quick and easy modifications.
>>3536384The sooner we find a pearl oyster the sooner we unlock infinite money. Just generate pearls at will.Though Tara can probably use her powers to find gems too.Easy moneyyyyy.
>>3536386Those are pretty neat.
>>3536389We start up a jewelry company to fund our shenanigans. It's perfect.
>>3536389>>3536430Precious gem stones would be a good export for our Meta City-State. That and banking. The Caman Islands do it all the time, imagine the lods o' emone we'd get from super-brained meta bankers.>>3536386>>3536322>>3536368While these are all cool ideas, y'all, we need extra bio-mass to do fucking anything. I see a lot of ideas for eating insects and birds and stuff but we're gonna need a more filling source if we want to tap into our true power. Sure we can copy things from the stuff we eat but we need to eat more in order to readily use any of it, like flight if we eat birds! I'm not advocating for eating niggas but I'm also not seeing any way out aside from giving into our primal urges. Either that speaks to my limited imagination or the QM's excellent narrative skills. I'm gonna choose the latter, since I believe the other available powers in the first thread would have equal drawbacks...Also, I doubt James is so much of a pussy that he can't eat an unproccessed bird. Just stick a needle through its head or snap its neck. Voila. Problem solved, you pansy city slickers.
Alright works done, barbecue's over, lets do this. Calling the vote and writing.
>>3536576Always forget to put this thing back on.
>>3536550Primal Urges being eating animals and not eating people.eating people is like the opposite of a primal urge. Also we can make a crown for ourself out of solid pearl if we decide to go for our own nation
>>3536550Eating more shit and getting more biomass is already a priority, that's been something we've been doing ever since AVM man gave us extra food. The question is what other abilities we can develop because there's no point in amassing more biomass if we can't do anything with them to help us escape. Also, remember that we can recycle biomass real easily. OP said shifting biomass doesn't take up much energy unless it's big changes so we can also keep ourselves up and running going through multiple "abilities" even if we don't have a kaiju's worth of biomass. As for the bird, the solution you posed is just a method of killing one, which isn't the problem. It's actually eating a raw bird that's the problem. I'm sure James'll do it eventually, whether it'll be soon or later remains to be seen. AVM man will likely want us to develop animal type forms at some point, so it might be out of our hand anyway.
>>3536617Remember, AVM doesn’t know we can eat to learn forms. He might show us a bird to mimic one, but he won’t make us eat one(probably)
>>3536658I know, I talked about a possible "eat live animals mid-combat" scenario before, my point was more that we'd learn to be a bird regardless. Although I wonder how thorough it'd be, whether we'd just make a really basic bird form that allows for flight if we'd actually replicate the magnetic compass anons were talking about. No idea how hard AVM man goes with his forms.
>>3536584I had barbecue chicken what did you have
I honestly don't want to use shapeshifting as our main use of t he power. Maybe some useful parts from other animals but I would prefer to turn into some kind of lovercraftian horror mid-battle. Supers are though people, but even them will flinch when a creature made of tentacles and teeth is using its own guts to attack.
>>3536684edgy and pointless and ineffective.AVM man already said how difficult it can be to fight in an unfamiliar form and you want to fight as a writhing mass of tentacles. It's easier if we keep a human form.
aaaand I just remembered that Miss Martian has a Bio-Ship the Team use for transport. So that's a goal.
>>3536684I really don't see the appeal of being a flesh smoothie. Kars and Mercer are our supposed inspiration and they are very badass while staying human-like. I'd be okay with a more Venom-like form, that's both slick and menacing.
>>3536695I get where you're coming from but the point of AVM man's speech was that we should practice our forms before using them in operation. Even a writhing mass of tentacles can be effective if we actually take the time to practice. Our power practically screams versatility. We're the perfect swiss army knife, capable of overcoming any situation with multiple forms. Keeping only a human one limits us severely. We should be whatever shape will help us.
>>3536695He has a point, we should invest in some totally different forms, though not for combat. For example a form with thin tendrils would be very useful for sensing in dark spaces or underwater, and a thin slime type form would be good for decentralizing our bodies for avoiding detection or sensing.
>>3536723sure, but for actual combat it's really the best if we maintain an actual human form so we can put our martial arts training to use. Also Mercer's armoured form is cool and I kinda want to take something like that form for combat.Or at least combat where we need to be serious.
>>3536728>Also Mercer's armoured form is cool and I kinda want to take something like that form for combat.Oh hell yeah, I want this shit. No idea what the hell it's actually made of and I don't think the games ever explained but I'm sure we can make it durable enough for our purpose.
>>3535459You stumble your way into the cafeteria and grab a tray pilled high with food .You didn’t even have to ask, they just gave you a triple portion tonight. They’re learning. You wait for Caitlin to grab her tray, and then with food attended to you decide to look around the room as is becoming your habit. Thing’s look pretty much how they had at breakfast. Silver haired girl is sitting off alone, there’s the smaller third group off to the side and the Gothamite’s group is the same as it had been. Then you look over to your friend group. Good news, Roxy is sitting with them right next to Liz, so she hasn’t split off alone again. Bad news, Liz is practically snarling and is clearly trying to kill whoever she is staring at over on the other side of the room with her eyes. Worse news, Tara isn’t with them. You hurry over to the table to figure out what’s going on, and Caitlin seems to have the same Idea since she beats you there. Must have been the longer legs. “Liz what’s wrong?” She asks as she moves to the girls other side opposite Roxanne, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “And where’s Tara? Didn’t you have class together today?” “You see the skin head over there.” She says and points at the tall guy with the shaved head who’d recently joined the other group. “Son of a bitch got Tara in trouble, she’s meeting with the psychiatrist for anger and sensitivity counseling.” “What?” Caitlin asks, clearly shocked. “How? Tara’s so sweet, how on earth did that happen.” “So class is wrapping up and our teacher is putting away his materials right?” Liz says. “And it’s been kind of stressful, cause the guy’s been talking to us about learning our target’s patterns and how to avoid getting fingered for killing someone right? Like, ‘these are the most common methods used by forensic scientists, this is how you avoid detection’ and shit right? I don’t know about everyone else, but I was freaked the fuck out, and I think Tara was as well.” “And then that fucker” She says and jabs a finger at the tall kid with the shaved head “he starts whispering all kinds of sick shit to Tara. Something about how everyone knows Markovian girls open their legs just like their Monarchs open their borders, and Tara slaps him and starts crying and screaming something about Vlatavan pigs and then everything went to shit.” “The old man who was teaching us wasn’t happy” She continues, still glaring across the room. “I shit you not, he pulled a pistol on us and told us all to calm down before he sent us to medical. Skinhead over there starts whining how “I am done nothing wrong” and “She is starting it” and his shit stain friends backed him up, so Tara took the blame and a guard bundled her off.” Well. Shit.
>>3536834You hear a snapping sound and look down. Alright, Caitlin is going to need new silverware, but at least it wasn’t a table this time.“That’s absolutely abhorrent” She snarls as she starts to stand back up with her eyes trained on the other table like heat-seeking missiles. “How dare he say something like that to Tara?”“Whoa whoa hold your horses darlin” says Ralph as he stands up and lays a hand on the larger girls shoulder and stop her while stepping in front of her to block her path. “Hold up. Now I’m every bit as mad as you are, but if we start a fight here in front of all the guards, we’re gonna be the one’s to catch shit for it, and it ain’t gonna help Tara. We gotta keep cool, or things are going to get worse.” Caitlin glares at Ralph for a second, and then takes a deep breath before sitting back down. “You’re right” She says as she loosens her fists and drops her mangled silverware onto the table. “We can’t do anything about it.For now.”Alright. So, Tara’s seeing the psychiatrist, who you’re pretty sure messes with people’s heads, and things are escalating between you and the other group. That’s a problem. You contemplate your escape plan, and then realize that even if you got your implant out, you don’t know where you are. You wouldn’t know where to escape to. That can be fixed though. You know how to determine latitude and longitude, and man you will never complain about geography class being a waste of time again. You just need an opportunity, and you’ve got an idea. “Well, Ralph is right” You say. “We can’t do anything about it, but I don’t think I can stand to be in the same room as them right now. Why don’t we see if we can go eat in the courtyard? Sun should be going down soon, maybe we could see some stars. We’re pretty far from the city so we should get a good view without all the light pollution.” “That sounds like a great idea” Says Ralph as he throws an arm around your shoulder. “Tell you what, I’ll go ask the guards.” He trots off over to the guard in the corner. You can’t quite hear what they’re saying, but Ralph gestures at the ceiling and back at your group a few times, and then he trots back over. “Well we got permission.” He says “We just gotta have an escort is all.” “Well the storm troopers are around no matter what anyway” says Roxy “So it’s not like we’re really loosing any privacy. Why not, lets do it.” “Cool, let me go grab my tablet real fast” You say “I bet I can find some books in it to help us identify constellations, and it can help us keep track of the time.”
>>3536842Of course that isn’t exactly what you want your tablet for, but it’s a likely enough excuse if anyone on the staff asks them about it later or if you get pulled in and questioned. It is a legitimate reason to have the tablet with you after all. “I’ll carry your tray out for you.” Says Caitlin “Meet you in the courtyard James.” “See you all there” You say, and then you run off to get your tablet. It takes a while for the sun to go down after you’ve joined them in the courtyard, but that just means you all get to enjoy the sunset. Sort of. You can’t see the best bits since they’re blocked by the wall, but you get to see at least a part of the display of colors up in the sky. Then the sun sets and the stars come out, and your work begins. True to your prediction, the stars are quite pretty away from any large cities, even with some interference from the facility itself it’s possibly the brightest night sky you’ve ever seen. Ralph assures you all that this is nothing, that if you go up camping at night in the mountains near his home you’ll see a view like nothing else, but it’s still pretty good. You aren’t here for the view though. You look for the North Star, and then you start figuring angles. By looking at where it sits in the sky compared with the horizon you’re able to determine your latitude. Roughly speaking. You don’t exactly have any tools right now for exact figures, but looking at the angle you figure it’s less than forty five degrees, and more than thirty, so call it around 40 degrees N.Longitude is a bit trickier, since as far as you can remember that’s based on how far you are from the Greenswich observatory, but that’s where the tablet comes in. Under the guise of “checking the time to make sure you don’t miss when you have to head back to your dorms” you check the clock feature on your tablet, and see that it does in fact have a function for setting the time zone. You’d hoped it would. You take a quick peek at UTC, and then look at what the tablet says is local time, and then you calculate the difference and convert it into degrees. 15 degrees for each hour if you remember correctly. Based on your calculations you figure you’re off the shore of the east coast of the United States, most likely a little more than a hundred miles off of the shore of New Jersey.
>>3536845Everyone enjoys the stars as Caitlin and Ralph point out different constellations and you chime in with factoids from the books on your tablet, and you get one step closer to getting out of here. All in all, a productive evening. Eventually the time comes that you have to go back to the dorms, and then it’s time to sleep. As the intercom wakes you up, you really wish you could choose your own alarm. The chipper sound of the Headmistress’ amplified voice is a horrible thing to wake up to. What is the plan before you head to lessons? >Approach white hair’s group and see if you can stop this from getting out of hand. They could be reasonable people same as you.Something along the lines of "You think it's funny to harass a 14 year old girl and get her sent to get brainwashed?" to the skinhead to potentially decrease his standing in the group. Doubt everyone in the group's on board with that. And then addressing the head honcho "Listen, I'm not going to say we all need to be friends, skip through fields and play paddycake, but we need to at least keep our noses clean before things get out of hand, yeah? Or we can keep escalating if you want - all the way up to when I show you all how I can make Killer Croc look like the Cookie Monster by comparison - then we can all get ourselves killed, fatherbox'd and Wax'd until we're nothing but lobotomized tools for HIVE. We're all in a terrible situation here, our best bet to making it with our minds reasonably intact is if we don't start petty crap. This isn't the time for this clique bullshit, this isn't high school, it's closer to a fucked up boot camp."We should at least extend an olive branch to these guys, they can be a huge help in the future prison break we won't tell them about until it's actually time, but depending on how they react, I'd be okay with letting them sink or swim. The Killer Croc bit is something of a bluff, but disregard the entire write-in if it's too out of character/cringe, just wanted to do more than just pick a prompt.
>>3537166Support>The Killer Croc bit is something of a bluff.Boy, we're a Kars/Mercer fusion, we can be way more powerful and scary than Croc by eating like three or four cows.

>>3537170I know, but where do you think we'll find them on short notice? Plus, we're still lacking practice being heug, so right now I feel this is more of an intimidation bluff than an actual promise. Thanks for the support tho.

>>3537595We could even cover the thing in microneedles, or maybe add a poison or toxin. I'm thinking bullet ant, or something paralytic.
>>3537642Microneedles in a tentacle? So a Jellyfish. There is a jellyfish with a poison strong enough without being lethal, probably.
>>3537642Imagine being punted by somebody with a fist covered with a thousand bullet ant stingers. >>3537595>assuming our little group sticks togetherOur little group will be the founding members of our Meta-Human Liberation Squad. Also if our powers can work on other people then we can really fuck with Waller and the suicide squad by just knocking them out and removing their brain bombs. That is if the Squad gets sent after us.
>>3537595Liz seeing us shapeshift our whole arm into a tentacle would lead to pranking (and Liz secret crush increasing), followed by some akward retort from the socially akward kid (who only knows a way to deal with a lewd joke: escalating even further) about the size of his tongue (which will increase Liz secret crush even more), which will then lead to Terra becoming jealous and then a catfight. Meanwhile, Ralph won't stop making thumbs up and grins to Mercer, who doesn't understand a thing and is busy trying to figure out where all this sudden infight comes from.
>>3537675>Our little group will be the founding members of our Meta-Human Liberation Squad. Now I'm not against this route, I'm just gonna say that I don't really see James putting something like that together all that soon after escaping from HIVE. Any good scout should at least be able to examine their surroundings and observe identifying landmarks such as street signs and government buildings. Train and bus stations might even provide a map of the immediate area. Direction: Do you have a particular destination in mind? If you can ascertain how to move yourself to your ultimate goal, and it seems feasible to do either on foot or preferably with public transportation - Remember your travel money! - then you should see about reaching there under your own power. Don’t forget to use your umbrella. Shelter: If you can’t reach your intended destination, your next priority should be protection from the elements and personal security. If you’re expecting somebody, you shouldn’t move too far - if you’re at a train station, for instance, see if there’s a sitting room connected off the platform; these are designed for hapless passengers caught out in the rain like yourself. Mr. Neighborhood Officer: If even basic shelter that makes you feel safe can’t be found, try determining the location of a police kiosk or station. Even if it turns out you aren’t allowed to stay the night there, your friendly neighborhood officers should be able to help out with your predicament. (You can even stop your search if you find a patrol car. If an officer isn’t already present within, they’re likely in a nearby eatery.)

That dream coincides with the liberation of our brothers and sisters, liberating the whole so that we may ALL strike out on our collectivly, instead of simply aiding ourselves. >>3538429The abs update said we were so ripped it looked like steel cords running through our stomach. Rock hard, though I don't know how literal that was. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to get to a density level that injures baseline humans if they punch us.
>>3538429I mean, IRL punching someone in the face is a good way of fracturing bones in your hand. It mostly depends on how strong the person doing the punching is and how durable their bones are.
>>3538606That's why when you hit someone in the face you slap them.
>>3538618It's why when you hit someone in the face you shift your hand into a giant biometal hammer.
>>3538625Its why when you hit someone in the face you add as many tendons and muscles to your hand as possible without being obvious, and flick them in the forehead with the force of a truck hitting them.
>>3538640It's why when you want to hit someone in the face you instead lightly poke their forehead and infect them with a hyper rapidly multiplying cell designed to break down and convert organic matter into biomass
>>3536847As you get dressed you give serious consideration to approaching white hair’s group and trying to talk things out with them, maybe give the Vlatavan kid a piece of your mind while you are at it, but ultimately decide not to. You know you aren’t very good at that sort of thing, and you’re genre savvy enough to know that trying to talk things out with the rival group rarely ends with a positive outcome. No, talking to them would likely prove futile. Instead you’re going to stay near Tara this morning and see how she’s doing after yesterday. See if there’s anything you can do for her, and check to see if there have been any big changes in her personality like there were with Caitlin when she got back from visiting the shrink. With your mind made up you make your way to the cafeteria, pointedly ignoring the Gothamite and his cronies, and heading straight for your table. You and Ralph arrived before the girls today, so you pick at your food while you wait for them to arrive. When they do the other girls are arrayed around Tara like bodyguards. They move as a group, keeping the young blonde girl firmly in the center as they collect their food and make their way to the table. Tara is holding Caitlin's hand, and Liz's hand is on the blonde girls shoulder. They sit down across from you and Ralph, and you can’t help but notice Tara’s eyes are a little bloodshot, as if she hadn’t been sleeping well or had been crying. “Tara, are you alright?” You ask.“Oh James yesterday it was horrible.” She says bitterly “ All day listening to that man talk about killing people, knowing they planned to make us kill people, and then that terrible boy. It was awful, absolutely awful.” “And the Psychiatrist” She continues to rant “He would not listen to me when I tried to tell him what happened, he just insisted that I needed to learn to control my temper and that if I allowed the words of others to effect me I was giving them control over my actions. He was kindly yes, but he didn’t help at all. I left more frustrated then when I went in!”Well, this is interesting. On the one hand Tara is still visibly upset, and that is bad, but on the other hand she is still visibly upset. Caitlin went to see the psychiatrist and came back with her grief and guilt over her trauma ripped out of her. Tara’s come back from seeing the same man, and yet distress hasn’t been removed. She’s even still clearly upset about the subject matter of her class, so they didn’t do any tinkering with her morals either. That brings up questions. Did the psychiatrist choose not to alter her mental state? Was he not capable of doing so? Or are there simply alterations at work to subtle for you to detect their influence at this point?
>>3538692“Well I agree with the psychiatrist about one thing.” Ralph says to the side of you as you mull things over. “Trash like that ain’t worth worrying about. You pay him no mind darlin, it’s beneath you.” “He is trash.” You agree with Ralph. “And he is beneath you Tara, just hold your head high if he does it again, and tell us so we can figure out a way to get back at him.” “I think a few hundred Volts at a non lethal amperage would do the job” mutters Liz darkly.“No” Says Caitlin “That would just get you punished. We’ll need to be more subtle than that.” You spend the rest of breakfast bandying about suggestions for how to get even, and then it’s time to head for class. Once again the majority of your group heads outside, with Tara’s hand held in Caitlin’s comfortingly, and Liz plops down on a couch in the common area. You climb up the stairs and soon find yourself back the large open classroom with Larson. He’s waiting for you by the door. He grins at you and then gestures around the room. “Well kid” He says “what do you think? It’s changed a lot. The floor is now spread with mats, and there are hurdles set up in a circular path across the far side, and some hoops resting along the wall. The computer he requested is tucked in a corner, along with a table full of odds and ends. “It looks different.” You tell him honestly. “We’re ready to really get going now kid.” He tells you, then he gestures over to a waiting cart full of food at the side. There’s a whole roasted hog on top of it. “Now eat what you need, and then shift into that taller body we worked on last time. We’re going to work be familiarizing you with it today.” You nod and head over to the cart, gobbling down succulent pork as you slowly grow into your new larger form. “Good” Larson says “But too slow, We’ll work on that.” He has you walk around a bit, then he starts you on jogging. You stumble again at first, but after a while you’re doing pretty well. Then he starts you on the hurdles. They’re low hurdles, not the full height ones, but nevertheless you fall down. A lot. And are really grateful for the mats he’s spread out across the floor. Just as you’re starting to get the hang of it, having just completed the last hurdle of your most recent lap he shouts at you “Shrink Kid!” You stop and start shrinking. When you’re done packing yourself into your smaller body he nods at you and then shouts “Grow.” He has you do this a dozen times while he keeps track of how long it takes with a stopwatch. Then he has you do a few laps while small, before making you grow again and start doing hurdles. Once again you stumble at first, but it takes you fewer laps than last time to get into the groove of things.
>>3538706He nods and then you repeat the exercise where you shrink and then grow, and shrink and then grow. You’re getting much faster at it, in your opinion, and you mention it to Larson. “It’s good progress, but still too slow” He replies as he holds up the stopwatch. “It took you twelve seconds. Do you know how many times someone can hit you in twelve seconds? If you’re going to be able to shift in a fight we need to speed you up.” So you keep going. Shrink, grow, run, jump as Larson bellows encouragement and orders at you from the sidelines. You go at it for the whole morning, whittling away at the food cart. Mid day comes and Larson tells you to stop. “Go take a break kid” He says “We’ll work on the next thing when you get back.”You nod to him and then step out into the hall. You decide to find a window and see if you can catch a glimpse of anyone else training out in the courtyard. You find a window and look down. You don’t see any of your friends at first, but you do see a few students. The blonde girl and the Redhead who hang around white hair are the first two you notice. Blondie is flying, honest to goodness flying through the air. There’s a series of hoops that have been erected that kind of remind you of the Quidditch scenes from the Harry Potter movies that she’s looping through at speed. The red headed girl is throwing handfuls of fire at targets. Some are stationary, and some move, but she seems to be doing a good job of hitting even the mobile ones. You see the silver haired girl next. You can’t see her too well, but it looks like shes...screaming? At a rapidly deforming block of stone. Odd. Still, not who you are looking for. You keep looking around. The next thing you notice is an large vehicle. A big heavy looking thing with treads instead of wheels. You’d call it a tank, but you don’t see a cannon. Then, before your eyes, it suddenly lifts off of the ground and into the air in the space of a few seconds. You look down and see there’s someone underneath it. It takes you a moment to recognize who it is. She’s wearing a skin tight leotard rather than the boggy smock like garments you’ve gotten used to seeing her in, which throws you for a loop for a second, but you recognize the height and the hair quickly. It’s Caitlin. She stands there for a moment holding the vehicle over her head, and then she lowers it back down. Damn, is that what she looked like out of the smocks? You knew she was tall and therefore had long legs, and you figured based on the way the smock hung about her that she was stacked but...damn. Also, did she just clean and jerk a fucking tank? You watch for a second longer and then realize you’re being creepy. Bad James, no oogling your friends.
>>3538718You remove your gaze from your friend and resume looking around, but can’t see anyone else from the window you are at. They must be in a different part of the courtyard, and Larson is probably waiting for you, don’t want to keep him waiting. When you go back into the classroom Larson hands you a hand ball and then orders you go grow. “This is yours now” He says “Take it with you, practice with it in your normal body as well as with your other forms. I’m going to show you an exercise for building hand eye coordination and hand speed that I learned from a boxer.” “Follow me out into the hall” He says as he leads you through the doorway. He pulls out his own ball. “Now you’re going to bounce it off of the floor, and smack it back down with your hands, like this.” He then demonstrates bouncing the ball back and forth between his hands and the floor.“When you’re ready you move on to multiple balls” He says as he grabs two more and then starts bouncing all three at once, keeping control over all of them as his hands flash out and he sidesteps and hops around on his feet to keep smacking them down. Then he catches them all. “Eventually you’ve move on to doing it off of a wall instead of the floor.” he says as he turns to face the wall and throws the balls at it, bouncing them between the wall and his hands “It’ll be a while before you get to this point” He tells you as he grabs the balls out of the air, “But you’ll get there kid, I’m sure of it. For now, just start bouncing that once against the ground and listen, I’ve got some stuff to tell you.” He waits until you’ve started bouncing the ball, which is surprisingly difficult in your larger form since you misjudge the distances, and then he starts speaking. “So, there’s some stuff you’ll need to keep in mind kid, and the sooner you learn it the better.” He tells you as he leans against the wall and brings a hand up to his chin.
>>3538718>>3538718GEN 13! FUCK, I should have known...
>>3538725“Meta’s with super strength will beat you in a contest of brute force.” He tells you with a rueful shake of his head “Every time. I learned that the hard way. Shifting will make you stronger and more durable than is humanly possible, particularly if you can control your density like I can, but those bastards cheat. I’ve done the math, it is literally biologically and psychically impossible what they do, but they do it anyway.” “Unless you have a way of massively increasing your density don’t expect to be able to go toe to toe with them.” He tells you. “That being said, if they’re white hats it’s a bit easier. They aren’t trying to kill you, or hurt you too bad. Their morals won’t allow that, so they’ll pull their punches. It’s why superman doesn’t just reduce everyone he fights to red stains on the concrete. If it’s a super strong villain though, I recommend escaping kid. Can’t get paid if you’re dead and there will always be other opportunities, other jobs.” “If you gotta fight them” He continues “Being tricky is the key to it. Poisons are great, changing your limbs mid strike to something more flexible to get around their defenses by striking from an angle they didn’t predict, growing some spikes at the opportune moment when they try to lay their hands on you. We’re versatile kid, it’s our greatest strength. Play to that, don’t get into a straight up slugging match.” “Elementalists and blasters are irritating.” He says as he rubs his chin “But far from the worst thing to deal with. Thick hide, fur for the ice flingers, bit of regen, and you can deal with them. It’s painful, but frankly barbecuing something the size of an elephant that sloughs off damaged tissue and replaces it takes a lot more juice than all but the most powerful of them have.” “Psychics are a bitch to fight.” He says with a grimace. “Unfortunately I’ve had more than my fair share of experience with fighting them. One in particular really. Mento. Nasty vindictive little shit.”“Now some people” He continues as you keep bouncing the ball. It’s getting easier. “They’ll tell you you can’t do shit, that either you’ve got a psychic of your own to protect you or you’re out of luck.” “Those people are idiots.” He snorts. “Don’t know what they are talking about. Let me tell you kid, it’s a lot more doable than people make it out to be.”
>>3538732>Unless you have a way of massively increasing your density*laughs in bullshit superpower*
>>3538732“The first thing to understand” He says “Is that the mind actually adapts to it. The more contact you have with psychics the more used to the sensation of it your mind gets, it starts to recognize it, and prepare. I’ve build up a bit of resistance over the years. Hopefully you won’t have to do the same, but you never know.” “The second thing” He tells you. “Is that in order to get anything deeper than a surface read, they have to really dig into you, and when that happens you will know about it. At that point it becomes a battle of wills. Their powers give them an edge, but if you are strong enough mentally you can resist. Against a weaker telepath you might even succeed.”“But, and this is the most important thing, sometimes you don’t want to resist.” He tells you with a savage smirk. “Sounds crazy right kid? Here’s the thing. Telepaths, they aren’t all powerful, they don’t know everything. If you resist strongly they might break you trying to get at what they want because they know you are hiding something. If you put up a token resistance for them to ‘overcome’ and then offer up most of the information they want willingly while hiding the more important bits deep down, a good number of them will think they’ve won and move on. See, psionics tend to have pretty inflated egos. They can’t fathom the idea of some mind blind sack of meat getting the better of their superior brains.” “Mento is one of the most powerful and versatile psionics on the planet” Larson tells you, still grinning that vicious little grin “And I still managed to get one over on his arrogant ass on more than one occasion with that little trick.”He starts telling you stories after that, about the time he went toe to toe with a redheaded amazon, and how he almost broke into fort knox, and a lot of stories about the Doom Patrol. You listen with half an ear and focus on smacking the ball around, and the afternoon passes quickly.
Larson's a cool dude.
>>3538740You migrate back into the training room as the end of the class day approaches and he has you do the shrinking and growing exercise again. You’re in the middle of shrinking back down when the intercom on the wall goes off. He walks over it and presses the button before saying “Larson here, what is it.” “Please inform your student that he has been scheduled to meet with Doctor Wax this evening and wait with him after your class has concluded” says the voice emanating from the speaker. “A member of the staff will be by to escort him to the Doctor’s office shortly.” “Understood.” Larson says, then he turns to you and says “Well kid, looks like you’ve got an appointment with the shrink.” He walks up over to you and puts a hand on your shoulder. “You did good today kid. Keep practicing that drill I showed you with the ball alright? And don’t forget those stories I told you. They may seem like the ramblings of an old man, but you never know when you’ll meet your own doom patrol, your own Mento, and if you learn from my experience you don’t have to figure it out for yourself. So, remember to keep what I’ve told you in mind kid.”Then his face twitches a bit, just one side, his right eye to be specific. ...did he just wink at you? He has you tuck into what’s left on the cart since “It doesn’t sound like they’re letting you go to dinner.” and before long a member of the staff shows up and tells you to follow him to the Doctor’s office. What is your plan for your talk with the doctor?>Talk to him concerning your worries about white hairs groupies>Talk to him about your concerns about the curriculum>Wait and see what he wants to talk to you about>Stonewall him, you aren’t talking to him willingly. >write in.
>>3538748>>Wait and see what he wants to talk to you about
>>3538748>Talk to him concerning your worries about white hairs groupiesLarson you madman.
>>3538748>>Wait and see what he wants to talk to you aboutI guess we gotta try to Mento this fuck somehow
>>3538748>>Talk to him concerning your worries about white hairs groupiesA good enough, hmm, red herring I guess.
Man that really got away from me, and I kept getting pulled away so it took way longer than it should have, but it's done. I've been looking forward to this bit for a while now.Sadly, I don't know that I'll be doing any more tonight. Got my regular Tuesday evening appointment to take care of. We'll see how it goes. If I get done early we might meet Doctor Wax tonight, if not it'll be tomorrow.
>>3538748Also block our surface thoughts with Caitlin wearing the leotard. It's totally in line with a teenage boy so Wax shouldn't be suspicious. She a cutie though.
>>3538765Agreed but I think we should think about random spiel of thoughts, wholly unconnected and irregular. That way he can't bring up our current problems.>"Well the food here is rather dry compared to home, did I ever talk about home? It's pretty nice place, the local council erected a new town hall so the. Blah blah blah."This would be a method of stonewalling him with random bits of information. Concentrate on brick walls and strange remarks.
>>3538748>>Talk to him concerning your worries about white hairs groupiesI didn't even think I could like AVM man more but by God this man just keeps getting cooler
>>3538786I'm suggesting this because if we think of brick walls then he will know that we know what his power is. Then he'll try to brainwash the others before we can talk to them again.
>>3538765Yeah that's probably our best bet.Remember, we don't really want the telepath to lead the flow of conversation otherwise he can trick us into thinking something we shouldn't.If we pick the subject and block our surface thoughts by remembering Leotard Caitlyn we might be ok.
