Welcome to Young Justice: Meta Human Slave Quest.

You are Joseph Mercer. From a young age you excelled academically, to the point where the school curriculum was often too easy for you, and ultimately as a preteen you skipped a few grades and went to high school early. You continued to excel, and even as an underage freshmen took advance courses such as AP Biology. Unfortunately, your nature as a Nerd and your relative youth compared to your classmates made it hard to make friends, and by your second year of high school at the age of fourteen you had ended up as a solitary wallflower. Feeling bad for yourself and with your self confidence at an all time low, you responded to a self help advertisement online. This proved to be a horrible mistake.

When you got to the address from the add you were kidnapped by Meta-human traffickers and experimented on, gaining the power to control and manipulate your flesh. You were then implanted with a control device and thrown into some sort of super villain school with a number of other kidnapped teenagers.

After spending some time at the school, you've found a group of friends, and started to learn to use your powers. You've also discovered a conspiracy to slowly brainwash you and the other students into willing servants of the HIVE. When we left off you had just finished with a day's classes where you were pitted against other students as part of a "pop quiz", which you passed by winning, and were on your way to dinner when you noticed some strange behavior from your friend Ralph.

That is not normal behavior for Ralph, not at all. The fact that he’s alone also begs the question, where are Caitlin and Liz? This can’t be good. Is it another trip to visit Wax, or something worse?

You go to grab your food, waiting impatiently for the kitchen staff to bring out your plate so you can get over to Ralph, who is still just sitting there staring at his food. While you are waiting on your dinner you see a flash of blue out of the corner of your eye, and turn just in time to see Liz join you Roxy and Tara in line waiting.

“Hey guys” she says as she slides into place next to you “How was class?”

“Eventful” You reply.

“Mine was so boring” she moans “I’m getting so sick of code. I don’t even like computers. The only interesting thing was when they had me try messing with the electricity in the circuits directly, but I fried the computer on accident and the teacher yelled at me.”

“Bit of coding sounds nice to me” You say half to yourself “Very low stress.”

“You some kind of computer geek James?” Asks Roxy teasingly. There’s no real bite in her words, it’s just good natured ribbing. You think.

“No” You reply, perhaps a tad too quickly “I just know a thing or two that’s all.”

“In that case, help me before my brain starts dripping out my ears” Liz begs you dramatically “I’m just not getting it.”

“We’ll talk” You promise as you grab the plate offered you by the kitchen worker. “Hey Liz, did you see Caitlin on your way in here?”

“Cat? No I didn’t, why?” Asks Liz as she accepts her plate and your group starts to walk over to your table.

“It’s just she and Ralph have the same class right?” You ask rhetorically “So if Ralph’s here where’s Caitlin? They should have been let out of class as the same time.”

“Maybe she was given remedial work like our classmates?” Tara offers as a possible answer to your question.

“Yeah but Frosty the Snow douche was in her group” pipes up Roxy “If her group had been held back for remedial work he wouldn’t be here.”

“Let’s just ask Ralph.” Says Liz “He was in her class so he’ll know right?”

She picks up her pace, pulling ahead of the rest of you and plopping down next to the green teen before asking “Hey Ralph, where’s Caitlin?”

He jerks and looks away from his plate, his head turning towards the blue girl at the sound of her voice. He takes a deep breath and opens and closes his mouth once or twice, but no words come out.

“Jeez man are you alright?” asks Liz, concern bleeding into her voice as she lightly puts a hand on Ralph’s shoulder “You’re looking kinda pale.”

“C-caitlin s-she” He stutters out as his breath hitches and his eyes start to glisten with moisture.

“What?” Asks Liz

“Fatherbox” He chokes out, and then he drops his head onto Liz’s shoulder and sobs, clinging to the blue girl as he falls apart crying.
>>
>>3553112

Liz is stunned into inaction for a moment, then she slowly lifts her hands up and pats him on the back while saying softly “Hey it’s okay.” Then she looks over at the rest of you, confusion and panic writ clear across her face.

Yeah, you have no idea how to deal with this. Fortunately the girls seem to know what to do, and Ralph is soon surrounded by the rest of the group murmuring comforting words. Roxy grabs you by the hand and pulls you in, gesturing sharply at the crying green boy with her head and you throw in a few platitudes and follow the other’s lead. Eventually your friend calms down enough to explain.

They’d had a quiz today Ralph tells you, a contest with students from another class. His group passed, he’d grown out a layer of grass that acted as an early warning system and then wrapped up the opposition with giant thorny vines. It had been quick, easy even. He’d cut one of them up doing it, and he felt kinda bad about that, but still he won and it was over quickly.

They’d been taken back to the classroom and told to wait. When the other group, the group Caitlin had been in, had come back two of them had been on gurneys and had needed fixing with a Fatherbox. Caitlin had been fine though, and one of them was that white haired ass, so Ralph hadn’t thought to much of it.

Their teacher had just gone right back to class as usual. No commentary on their performance or anything. Kind of odd, but Ralph hadn’t questioned it. It had seemed like it was just going to be forgotten, until the end of the day.

Their teacher called them up and separated them back into the groups they had been in for the quiz. He’d praised Ralph’s group, and Ralph in particular, for their excellent performance and for passing their quiz. He had then informed the other group that they would be punished for their failure.

“But that isn’t fair” had argued White Hair, Darryl according to Ralph.“We tried, we only lost because she gave up.”

Darryl had blamed Caitlin. He and Wendy had at least tried, they’d had be brought in on stretchers for their trouble even, but she was untouched. She was untouched, and had probably let the other team win since they were her friends. It wasn’t fair that the other members of the team be punished for her failure to take the exercise seriously when they had given their all and suffered for it.

And their teacher had agreed with him.

He had stated that there needed to be an example set, an example of what would happen to those who didn’t take their studies seriously, and then he ordered the rest of the class to step away from Caitlin as he pulled out a Fatherbox.

Then he’d pressed the button, and Caitlin had screamed. She’d shrieked in pain and terror and fallen to the ground clutching at her head, and he had just kept holding down the button. She’d fallen to her back with a final cry and her whole body had arched as every muscle pulled taught, and the teacher had continued to hold down the button.

She’d started to thrash, limbs jerking spastically knocking aside and breaking desks as she writhed across the ground, and he’d kept holding the button down. Her head and heels had gone up and down like jackhammers, pounding cracks into the concrete floor of the classroom as she spasmed, and he’d kept his thumb on the button.

She’d foamed at the mouth, choking on her own spit as her eyes rolled up into her head, and he hadn’t removed his thumb from the button. She’d started to turn purple in the face, and he hadn’t removed his thumb from the button. Ralph had fallen to his knee’s begging him to stop, afraid to move closer for fear of Caitlin’s thrashing limbs, and he hadn’t removed his thumb from the button.

She’d stopped thrashing. Falling silent as her limbs went limp, and he still hadn’t taken his hand off of the button. He’d calmly informed the rest of the class to remember the price of failing to give your best performance, and only then had he lifted his thumb and slid the Fatherbox back into his jacket.

Then with Caitlin still lying there limp and still as a corpse on the ground, the only evidence she still lived the slow rise and fall of her chest, and he’d ordered them to go to dinner. Had held up the Fatherbox in warning when Ralph tried to go to the side of your friend instead.

“I was so useless” Ralph tells you bitterly, looking down at his hands in his lap as he finishes his story. “I didn’t do anything, I just stood there as she screamed. Some friend.”

What do you do?

>Leave comforting Ralph to the girls, this is way outside your comfort zone.

Will you continue writing after this?
Also, do we know where Caitlin was taken? Is there an infirmary?
>>
>>3553233

Honestly I should be in bed already, I don't think I'll be getting another update in tonight, but we will have one in the morning before I head to work.

At this point, Mercer doesn't know where Caitlin is. That is certainly something you could inquire about or look into though.

Also asking again if we when we copy smaller organisms, we get their abilities scaled up or not. For instance, fleas can jump 80 times their own height, which is the equivalent of a 6-foot tall human jumping 480 feet.
>>
>>3553363
Also, for white-hair, let’s not get in too much trouble. Let’s just give him a little allergy, one that should be relatively simple to set up with skin contact, given we’ve already eaten meat. Let’s give him a meat allergy. Pretty hard to trace to us given it’s usually caused by ticks.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha-gal_allergy

“A typical allergic reaction to alpha-gal has a delayed onset, occurring 3–8 hours after the consumption of mammalian meat products, in contrast to the typical rapid onset of most food allergies. After the delayed onset, the allergic response is like most food allergies, and especially an IgE-mediated allergy, including severe whole-body itching, hives, angioedema, gastrointestinal upset, and possible anaphylaxis. In 70% of cases the reaction is accompanied by respiratory distress and as such is particularly harmful to those with asthma.”
>>

>you need to hit something

I want to grow as large as we possibly can before we do this I kind of just want to scare the living shit out of him
>>
>>3553367
>Pretty hard to trace to us given it’s usually caused by ticks.
>OK, there are no ticks around here and he doesn't have any ticks on him, plus he doesn't remember being allergic to meat previously
>who could get their hands on some Alpha-gal and put it in his body discreetly
>surely not this guy who can manipulate his physiology (and potentially his biology)
Also, I don't want to give him something permanent.
>>
>>3553380
Nope.
The tick responsible is found in New Jersey, where we are, it takes a few hours between ingestion of meat and the allergic reaction which is unusual for allergies so it’ll be quite a while until they figure out what he’s allergic to, and we don’t have to be obvious about giving it to him.
It’s caused by injection of alpha-gal into the bloodstream so we can just eat a mosquito to copy their proboscis for a stealthy injector, and then bump up against him to inject him with alpha gal while leaving a little bug bite. Even better if we could make nematocysts, but we don’t exactly have any jellyfish or related animals to eat.

As satisfying as it would be to feed Snow White his cowardly teeth, that's just going to get us Father Box'd and no doubt that is exactly what SW wants.

Next time we have a lesson with AVM-Man we should learn a combat trick.

Confront Whitehead verbally. Be the bigger man. Him and his group should feel ashamed of themselves for taking such joy in the suffering of one their peers. He might be a cunt but his whole group can't be, lets sow a little dissent in their group.

Though I have to say, flipping out here won't do us any good at all.
We wait till we've got our chip out before making Darryl a potential paralympian by removing his legs.
Then we can dash through the faculty and stab the guards, kill basically every asshole teacher we know and get the father box controls.
We don't HAVE to cut Darryl's legs off though.
We could just Father Box him.
Even Superman goes killer if you push his buttons enough. Remember that.

Batman's motto isn't "don't kill", it's actually "don't kill people with guns, the most convenient way possible". Once he killed a mental patient by hanging him by his neck from the Batjet, as he flew away.

Batman is stupid.

He's killed thousands because you keep putting him in revolving door jail.

This is the extreme downside of longrunning capeshit.
Characters are never consistent because they keep getting passed around different writers of differing skill and opinion, plus, people in the "arts" have this need to force their own spin on established canon, never emulate, so when a writer gets brought on for a run, rarely do they just set out to do a good, fun rump that play to the strengths of the character, they have to inject OCs or subversion or make a "bold statement." into the mix
It leads to what we see in Batman, especially now that he's been flanderized with his no killing shit because "Heroes don't kill": his rogue's gallery as been completely warped into monsters over the years, which makes Batman's insistence on being "Good" more and more convoluted and retarded when he keeps making himself accomplice in future murders yet rarely does anyone bring it up, and when they do, they're the antagonists that get defeated by Batman, it's never considered anything but positive and inspiring.
I'm not saying we need Frank Miller Batman where he sets street thugs on fire with the bleach they wanted to steal then having sex with Black Canary right next to them, just someone that knows when cleanly putting down an irredeemable animal is the moral action to take, rather than having this infantile black and white morality, patting himself on the back on how lawfully good he is despite being a vigilante and while the guy he spares later goes on to damage more lives by murdering more innocent people.

You guys seem to be confusing not attacking Snowball as a moral decision to be a good person.

Not attacking him isn't based on morality at all, its based on the fact that it literally does nothing to help us. All it does is make him hate us more and it makes you guys feel better about yourselves for letting Cait get hurt.

The ONLY thing we have complete and total control over is our self, and by letting Snowball get a rise out of us and going into a tard rage, your giving up control of yourself to someone else.

Like don't get me wrong, if murdering Snowball could give us a decent chance of escaping, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But that's not the case. We need to wait till the right time to strike.

Also PLEASE don't use any abilities that make them realize we're in fact NOT a shapeshifter and are actually a bio-kinetic.

Supporting this. If there are any non-assholes in that group, they’ll leave. Whoever stays just earned a position on our shit list.

>>3553554
I mean, if you want a moral rationalization, here’s one: up until this moment, the unspoken understanding between the school and the students has been that if we stay docile and comply, we will not suffer unduly. In return, we have stayed fairly within the bounds of normal human behavior, and part of that is that is our escape plans, which have been engineered to be disabling rather than explicitly murderous. This agreement has been enforced by the fact that the school’s punishments have been minimal and that they have given us comfortable lodging, meals, trainers, etc. Basically, because they treated us like human beings, we will give them the same courtesy when we blow this popsicle stand.

What Martial-Man just did violated that agreement. By using a disproportionate response on our colleague, he demonstrated a flippancy for the social contract that exists between us and the school. Any action ought to be punished or rewarded proportional to the overall harm it created or prevented. Breaking the contract places everyone in this school at high risk of harm or death, and thus, the action must be punished with lethal force in order to provide a deterrent proportionate to the possible impact of the crime. Thus, lethal force is justified. (This, by the way, is the crux of the Batman-Joker and the Punisher conundrums. How does one punish those who break the social contract while still remaining within that same contract? Batman and Punisher are two ways to do so.)

However, applying the appropriate punishment for this action in itself breaks the social contract. When the bonds of social contract are broken, the state of humanity returns to its default: policy through a contest of power. The only question, then, is whether we can muster sufficient power to overwhelm our teachers and impose our own wills on them. This will require the use of disproportionate force as well, and so use of disproportionate force against them is justified also.
>>
>>3553567
Yeah, unlike say... Lex Luthor, there is 0 reason to not kill the Joker.
Lex is a little evil but he's not a homicidal maniac doing it for the lols like the Joker is.
Lex does actually have somewhat good intentions, he just doesn't like relying on aliens to solve humanity's problems.
Which is fair.
Also his public image is fantastic.
Batman meanwhile takes on murderous mental patients who will never change.
>>
>>3553584
I legitimately cannot wait to eject our chip and fucking MURDER (maybe) whoever tries to threaten us with a Fatherbox at this point.
Just laugh as we walk up to them and bladearm through their chest.
I've had enough of everyone in this shithole.
The revolution shall begin.
>>
>>3553584
Actually, scratch that last paragraph, here’s a better justification:

>1)Breaking the social contract anywhere weakens it everywhere
>2)Deterrent should be proportionate to harm
>3)Harm is societal collapse
>4)Proportionate deterrent to social collapse is eradication of offending group.

Caitlin not dead, you guys know that right?

Anyways, while we probably will be able to deal with the implant in us eventually, the thing is they will just threaten our friends with it and hurt them instead and we WILL break at the sight of that.

Also gonna add that we can probably disconnect our nerves touching the implant, make new ones and pathways, plus insulate ourselves a bit from the implant, we can even try violently ejecting it possible have Caitlin rip it out of us and stitch ourselves up after making some backup nerves and getting better at both passive healing and active healing.

>>3553582
>Also PLEASE don't use any abilities that make them realize we're in fact NOT a shapeshifter and are actually a bio-kinetic.
Agreed, but its more in character for us to lose our cool at this point and smack that guys face in.
>>
>>3553604
Yeah, removing our father box is priority 1, with removing our friends’ boxes as priority 2. I wonder if we could pilot a nerve up someones bloodstream and establish a spinal bypass that way? Up the jugular, then worm it out and kinda attach it on both sides.
>>
>>3553586
>Lex does actually have somewhat good intentions, he just doesn't like relying on aliens to solve humanity's problems
Lex could solve humanity's problems anytime he wanted, but chooses to pursue his crusade against Superman instead.
He likes to claim that he has humanity's best interests in mind, but the truth is that he's insanely jealous of Superman.

After all, he's just about everything Lex wants to be (or already is but worse) -- handsome, charismatic, powerful, intelligent -- and the only advantage Lex has is his mind.

He has always been selfish at heart. His motive was never HFY, it was jealousy.
>>
>>3553607
Our powers are pretty much one of the few ways I see us getting out of this and maybe getting other people out too.
Also, I realised we can just lobotomise Wax and the asshole staff members.
It's not killing, technically.
>>
>>3553618
Yeah, Lex is a dick.
But he's usually about to kill dozens of people for the sole purpose of being a prick.
Also the Injustice universe basically exists as living proof of Lex being correct all along about relying on Superman.
>>
>>3553618
True, he's also obsessed with Lois Lane (but probably that's a result of Lois being sups waifu).
Also Lex is fucking rich and smart, but is always trying to be the number one (which is impossible, so he is eternally frustrated). Superman doesn't really need money to live and be happy, just sunbathing and not facing Doomsday without plot armour. If we can learn something from this is that after achiveing Martioomsdayseidptonianhood is to enjoy life and try to be happy, no throwing ourselves in an eternel crusade to be the the PERFECT LIFEFORM or some bullshit. Being immortal gives you a lot of time, we can slowly turn into THE PERFECT LIFEFORM in a few hundred years or when we really need it (remember that boredom is to immortals what death is to mortals, an ever-present threat).
For the inmediate future, I support ashaming White in front of his table and then asking the guards if we can spar with Whitebitch (and non lethaly brutalize him without revealing our true powers, maybe reiforce our knuckles to break bones when we hit him, ask how much we are allowed to harm him without being punished)
>>
I had an idea on how to deal with Daryll (Coldsnap, I think.)
We're a shapeshifter.
We just need to give him the impression that we might be infiltrating his group.
Something like: "next time I'm not at lunch and one of your friends are late, spare a moment to think that I can take the appearance of anyone I like."
It's not really truthful to our current level but the kid is an idiot.
This might cause him to self destruct out of paranoia.
>>
>>3553665
>Asking to spar some random asshole who wasn’t even responsible for what happened.

Like, he didn’t even encourage martial arts man to do it, he just weaseled out of receiving the same thing. The teacher was going to do that to all three of them. The teacher is the one we need to focus on.

And all of this instead of trying to visit our undoubtedly hurt and traumatized friend.

Can you guys stop trying to make joe act like some sort of dumbass?

Hell, going to the headmistress and complaining about senseis behavior would be more fruitful. At least to her we could make a good argument that failure is a critical part of learning and that senseis methods are not conducive to education. Supporting this wholeheartedly.
I think Snowball is the only one actively fucking with us, if he was separated from his goons that would put us in a way safer position both generally and specifically in the case of an escape.
Just imagine how sweet it would be if he were to be beat up by his own side.
James could spy on him, reveal some shit he thinks he shouldn’t be able to know and just watch him devolve into a paranoid mess.

>You guys seem to be confusing not attacking Snowball as a moral decision to be a good person.
Nah, at least, I'm not. Just discussing moralfagging/Batman at large.
>Not attacking him isn't based on morality at all, its based on the fact that it literally does nothing to help us.
It's stupid yes, and I'm pretty sure we're getting Fatherbox'd for it, but being the pacifist is starting to be the worse option, this is the second time one of ours as gotten screwed over by them: first skinhead starts harassing Tara in class, sending her to Wax (Thankfully it wasn't Psimon), we turned the other cheek, now to avoid staying for extra work because one of our friends refused to tear us open to get the statue after flying bitch and Frosty the Snowdouche jobbed hard keeping us out, she got literally tortured in front of their class.
Now anons still want to be the "bigger man", use their words like they teach you in pre-school, if not now, then when? How do you know it does nothing to help us? How miserable must they make our friends' lives before we finally show them not to?
This isn't everyday life here, Frosty isn't an asshole co-worker.
Are you assuming that feeding Frosty his own teeth in front of his posse for laughing at getting our friend tortured that this won't cause everyone there to have second thoughts on messing with us and our own in the future?
It's like you people never actually encountered normie bullies before, it's not like fighting back gets you shanked with these. Sure, you can lie down and take it until they grow bored (God knows how much shit they'll escalate and put you through first) or you can fight back, beat the shit out of them/get your shit beat, make them accept that it's just not worth the pain/effort to mess with you, hell, at the very least they'll begrudgingly respect you for not allowing yourself to be slapped around.

Jesus fuck, they probably should've really gone through some of these teachers more thoroughly before hiring em. You go from a teacher like Larson to this asshole. What a pointless punishment, does nothing to help the student get better or learn from their mistakes. Just intensifies the fear and anger they already had.

Why don't we set off elsas father box? It reconnects automatically eventually, the separation could be handwaved away as the result of being hit, and he'll learn what it feels like.

I feel compelled to point out that it was the Asset Protection teacher who flipped his lid, he may or may not be the same person as the Interpersonal Relations teacher, you don't know. Could be something to look into.

Gotta love the discussion.

>>3553363

Alright, the insect question. So here's my answer. These work because of their size, and really shouldn't translate up to something our size, but this is comic book land. So, if you were to eat a flea you wouldn't be able to jump 80 times your height and go a few hundred feet, but you'd probably figure out something that let you jump much higher than should be humanly possible and clear a building. Now given time, good materials, large samplings of various creatures, you could eventually figure out the 400 foot jump, but it ain't gonna be as simple as a single flea.

>>3553367

Honestly you'd have an easier time giving him Auto Immune disease, though that may be further than you wish to go.

>Their teacher called them up and separated them back into the groups they had been in for the quiz. He’d praised Ralph’s group, and Ralph in particular, for their excellent performance and for passing their quiz. He had then informed the other group that they would be punished for their failure.

Pretty clear he was going to punish all of them and Snowball convinced him otherwise.

It seems to imply he was going to punish the three for failing, but it's up in the air on what punishment it was going to be, but then Darryl blamed Caitlin for "Giving up", said that he and the other girl had at least tried and showed damage for it as proof, but Caitlin was completely fine because she "let the other team win because they were her friends" and the teacher believed him, which then moved him into setting an example to what he perceived was someone not taking this seriously.
I see no reason to believe the punishment would have been anything more than a drill instructor tier lecture and extra work until White Hair shifted the blame all to Caitlin.
>>
>>3553727
This isn't highschool where we get to go home after the bullies said mean things to us.

Our only goal is getting the hell out of here before they brainwash us. So far the only "bullying" has been some verbal taunting which is fucking irrelevant.

Neither us nor White-hair knew that the Martial Arts teacher was fucking crazy. White hair is not responsible for what happened to Cait, the only thing he did was convince the teacher not to include him and flygirl in the punishment as well. If we had been in his shoes, there's a good chance we would have done the exact same fucking thing.

So keep in mind, what you want to do is literally kick a guy's teeth in for SMIRKING at us across the room. He didn't speak to us, he just had a smug expression.

Not only will we get probably get us father boxed but that would be the least of our concerns, this will only serve to escalate this stupid gangwar from verbal harassment to physical assault. We've already broken his ribs and clearly that did not dissuade him from being a taunting asshole. Punching in his teeth will only encourage him and his posse to start trying to get back at us PHYSICALLY, which will only serve to distract us from our main fucking goal which is escaping.

Attacking White Hair right now literally accomplishes nothing and only makes our job harder by turning a minor distraction into a major distraction.

His punishment is going to be staying here and becoming a brainwashed assassin because he was too stupid to focus on the real problem and wanted to play Mean Girl esque games. Let's not do the exact same fucking thing as the idiot.

Listening to Ralph tell you why Caitlin isn’t here was hard to say the least. You’re certain that your knuckles are white right now, and if you were to grit your teeth any harder, you fear you’d probably crack a few of them. This may honestly be the angriest you can ever recall yourself being, and a very large part of you is screaming for immediate action. Retribution. To fill the gaping hole fear for your friend has left in your chest with the suffering of those responsible, but you squash that down. You will be doing something about this, but you’re going to be smart about it. You need cold anger. Cold anger is good, you can use cold anger. Hot anger is bad, hot anger uses you.

You can’t remember where that quote is from, but it’s nevertheless true in this instance. You’ve got to cool it down, remain rational. You won’t forgive, you won’t forget, but immediate instinctive action is not the answer. You need a plan. You are going to get your pound of flesh for this, and you will do so methodically. You will ensure that you succeed, rather than simply lashing out. But, before anything else, you need to reassure your friend.

“This isn’t your fault.” You tell Ralph, your voice rough with emotion. “There’s nothing you could have done, you would have just ended up on the ground next to her and she wouldn’t have wanted that.”

“But-” Ralph starts to say.

“But nothing.” You cut him off. “You are not at fault here, and that is the honest truth. Put the blame where it belongs.”

“He’s right Ralph” says Roxy “It isn’t your fault.”

“We need to see Caitlin” Sniffles Tara. Her eyes are red, she must have been crying during Ralph’s explanation. You hadn’t noticed. “We need to find out if she is okay.”

You nearly snap that she had a grand mal fucking seizure and bounced her head off of a concrete floor repeatedly, there’s no way she’s okay, but you catch yourself. Calm, calm, keep cool. You cant snap at your friends over this. Tara doesn’t deserve that. Tara is terrified for her friend, Control your anger, don’t let it control you. Forget fear, anger is the mind-killer, and you will allow it to pass through you.

“You’re right.” You tell her as you stand up. “We do need to find out what’s going on. Wait here.”
>>
>>3554133

You march up to the guard in the corner, the same guard who you had spoken with to get your tablet actually. Apparently your ill temper is apparent on your face, because he stiffens and reaches for his pistol while you’re still several feet away.

“Keep your distance” He orders you with one hand on the but of his gun “What do you want?”

“There was an incident involving one of my friends today in the Asset Protection class.” You tell him “I, and my friends, want to see her.”

“I don’t think that’s going to happen.” He tells you “Now sit back down and eat.”

“Respectfully I don’t think it’s your decision to make.” You tell him belligerently “Now kick it up the line and ask someone with actual authority.”

“Listen boy-” He starts to say, before cutting off and putting one hand up to his ear and listening.

“Yes, Yes I understand.” He says to whoever is on the radio before addressing you again. “Alright boy, looks like you get your wish. Finish up dinner with your friends and then go wait in the common room. Someone will be coming to collect you and take you to medical.”

“Good” You tell the guard with a sharp nod, and then you walk back to your table.

“We’re being allowed visitation once we’ve finished eating.” You tell the others as you sit down and grab your silverware.“They want us to wait in the common room when we’re done with dinner, and someone will come to take us to her. I suggest we finish eating quickly.”

Your friends nod and apply themselves to their food, and you do the same. Ordinarily you rather like Chicken Cordon bleu, but at the moment you can’t really taste it. Your table is silent except for the clink of forks and knives on plates. It doesn’t take long for the other’s to finish, but you still have a bit on your plate. Bigger portion sizes take a bit longer when you mind your manners.

“Go on ahead” You tell the others “Just don’t leave without me, I’ll be there in a second.”

“We’ll wait here with you” Says Tara, and Liz nods in agreement.

“I’ll be right there” You tell them a bit more forcefully “Go wait and make sure we don’t miss whoever they are sending.”

Frankly you don’t think they actually need to go wait for them, but there’s something you need to do, and they’d try to stop you. You can’t have that, so you need them out of the way.

“Okay, just hurry.” Says Liz, then she stands and leads the others out to the common room. Once they are gone you shovel down the last of your food, and then get up and start walking.

You aren't headed to the common room though, not yet. You have something to take care of real fast first.

You can’t necessarily blame White Hair, Darryl, for what happened to Caitlin. He didn’t push the button, even if he did throw her under the bus, and he likely hadn’t anticipated that level of response from the teacher. The “punishment” was, well not quite unprecedented, but certainly well outside of the norm, so you can’t assume he had malicious intent and wanted Caitlin to suffer like that. You can however absolutely be angry with him for finding what happened amusing. That’s just sick.

You’d be lying if you said that you hadn’t contemplated causing him physical harm. You have, and it’s very tempting. You had never been the violent sort before coming here, but that’s changing it seems. Feeding the little shit his teeth and seeing how well he smirks at you then sound like such a wonderful idea to the snarling ball of anger in your chest you’re trying to keep in check. You bet you could do it too, but then you’d end up Fatherbox’ed yourself, so you won’t. You will control your anger rather than the other way around, but even if you aren’t going to let your rage behind the wheel the simple fact is you can’t just let this go without saying anything. You simply can’t.

You don’t walk over to the Gothamite’s table, you don’t march up to it, no you stalk over to the white haired ponce and point at him imperiously.

“You are the most miserable petty small minded excuse for a human being I have ever seen” You snarl at him quietly. “You have the unmitigated gall to sit there and smirk at me after watching my friend have a grand mal seizure. I have to wonder, are you simply that callous, or are you just that stupid?”
>>
>>3554147

“A grand mal seizure” You continue your tirade, voice gaining volume as you continue. “Do you know what that means? It means you watched her brain overload and short circuit due to the pain she was experiencing, causing her to violently lose control of her bodily functions.”

“You watched her head bounce repeatedly off of concrete” You tell him as you jab at him with your finger. “Do you not understand how horribly that can injure someone? The only reason I hold out hope that her brains haven’t been scrambled to the point where she’d be lucky to add two and two is that her Meta powers may have made her more durable.”

He starts to open his mouth but you increase your volume and talk over him. You’re going to say your piece damn it!

“You watched my friend tortured” You scream in his face “and you had the audacity to find it amusing? Because of a petty disagreement? What is wrong with you? I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. We’re under a lot of stress. I mean look at what happened with the Stanford prison experiment, people do crazy things when put into difficult situations, but this is just ridiculous. I was willing to try to reach out to you, to reason with you. Fuck that, you’re psychotic!”

You’re breathing heavily. White Hair is just sitting there shocked. His whole clique is just staring at you, frozen in place. You could hear a pin drop in the cafeteria. Well, so much for keeping your cool.

“Just, just fucking stay out of my way.” You snarl at him, and then you turn and stalk out of the cafeteria and head for the common room.

You push open the doors, breathing deeply to try and calm back down, and find yourself face to face with your friends, who are looking at you with wide eyes.

What do you do?

>Uh, you heard that huh?

>What are you looking at?

>So, where’s that staff member at, are they here?

Very well said anon.

Not being dumb moralfag and understanding the importance of social contract is important even for anti moralfags. Both going too far and not far enough can be just as damaging. Its why I personally despise moralfags and evilfags who cannot see past the immediate ramifications.

>>3553607
We cannot remove the box from others until we unlock the ability to extend our power beyond ourselves. It's one of those abilities that are within our powerset but we haven't learned how yet. The only problem is the QM hasn't given us a single hint on how to unlock new abilities but only has confirmed that is indeed within our capability.

Naturally, anons have been running in circles because they have literally no idea to resolve it. To make matters worse moralfags insist on taking DNA samples to grow stronger...when we haven't even unlocked genetic manipulation. Meaning DNA samples are worthless until then which naturally aggravates the pragmatic anons and anti moralfags who point an immediate workable solution. By pointing out that without that ability we literally have to eat whatever it is we want to acquire or understand it enough to mimic it without eating(direct assimilation). Which with a lack of stolen super smarts is limited to mundane things we can comprehend or directly devouring said super beings.

Our power while powerful and adaptable is truthfully a very gruesome nightmarish one. That forces us into being both a glutton and turn into abominations in order to maximize our true power. We literally grow stronger the more we feast and can ignore the limits of the human body by twisting ourselves into whatever we can imagine. Naturally the more...imaginative we get about it the stronger we will be which quickly turns into body horror and covert superhuman 'normal' resting state that if you look inside REALLY isn't actually human anymore...it just looks that way.

>>3553905
He literally laughed and taunted us in our face about getting our friend(his classmate) tortured just because she wasn't willing to LITERALLY rip our guts out in order to get the statue. I really do mean LITERALLY. Since without doing so its 'technically' in our possession and the match cannot end until we either lose the statue or completing the mission.

Even a classmate who wasn't our friend would hesitate about having to literally gut another classmate in order to retrieve it. Since we are all still rather fresh after all. Now you're ignoring the fact that the harassment is precisely what they want in order to keep us from thinking too hard on how to escape or working together against them. Infighting means we have to spend effort AWAY from getting out of this hellhole.

This means we need to show them that they cannot afford to mess with us. Otherwise, we will waste valuable time. Think about it every time we have to comfort a friend due to their bullshit. Is time we COULD have been spending on stuffing ourselves or preparing to escape.
>>
>>3554746

I'm sorry for making you that mad anon. But I'm glad you came back.

Should be on my way home in just a minute, so vote should be called in about 30 minutes or so.

Last call to vote.

>>3554970

>Qm hasn't given us any hints

Guilty as charged, but I have plans, and that should be coming up soon actually.
>>
>>3554972
Not your fault. I was one of the anons pushing for a peaceful resolution and I felt betrayed for trying to be friendly to him.

That means you did good writing this.
>>
>>3554970
>Infighting means we have to spend effort AWAY from getting out of this hellhole.

You're actually so dumb, you think that beating snowball up would end this feud and not just escalate it to a whole 'nother level.

Whatever. Joe didn't do what you recommended. (Thank god). It's a moot point now.
>>
>>3554970
>>3554994
I kinda assumed we would unlock new powers by just... trying. Is that not the case?
Also, do you guys think we should make a complaint to the headmistress or is that a total waste of time?
>>
>>3555011
I'd assume that to be an absolute waste of time, and a great way to get Fatherboxed our self.
>>
>>3555011

It might be worth a shot, depends on who the headmistress is. We have a decent case that such actions are not an efficient way of teaching people and that the it's not conducive to a productive learning environment.

Ultimately depends on her personality.
>>
>>3555011
This is a facility that trains and braimwashes kids into becoming supervillains loyal to a secret terrorist/mercenary organization, so probably a waste of time.
>>
>>3555001
You're right, it'd be stupid to beat him right now. We have to follow Ender Wiggin's advice, beat them so hard, so thoroughly that they never dare to try their chances against us ever again
>>
>>3555011

You are correct that you can figure things out via trial and error. I apologize if I gave the impression you couldn't. Trial and error is a big part of your self discovery and exploring your powers. What I mean to say is there will be opportunities to experiment presented to you.
>>
>>3555001
Anon I think just going straight up to snowball and bashing his face in is as stupid as the next guy, and I do think some anons are being a bit too edgy, but for god's sake you can't just assume a bully will leave you alone if you play the big man and ignore his crap. That never works, when you do nothing it just encourages them. We tried to be polite and that failed, we tried to appeal to his rationality and that failed. At some point you just have to stand your ground, go up to the kid, and tell him you're done with his shit and to fuck off. We did, he's been warned, and if he does or pushes any further, verbal or otherwise, than you subtly retaliate, because he's a bully, and bullies prod and see where your limit is, and if you give them an inch they'll take a mile. When someone juat won't listen, you have to make them understand that any type of prodding, any type of slight, is unacceptable and they need to watch it.

Is it the preferred option? No, I would have loved to have eased tensions and get him to understand there is no reason to antagonize each other, but he's already showed he's unwilling to listen. Scaring him off, making him go "shit I don't want to fuck with this kid" is the best way to deal with him. For now I'm satisfied, but if he tries anything again we'll have to really set in how bad it is to mess with us, or he'll never stop.
>>
>>3555017
Not to mention that the horrible pain and possible death of having a grand mal seizure inflicted upon you is only going to rile the students up even more. Who the fuck gives a shit about possible death as a threat if that's gonna be a possibility regardless just because of a performance in a pop quiz?
>>
Alright, home. Vote's called. Give me a minute to read and tally, and I'll get started on the next write up. Probably last one for today.
>>
>>3555038
I get what you're saying, but there is fuck all we can do to "subtly retaliate" and effectively instill fear in him because we've yet to experiment with our powers to do so and they have mindreaders on staff. Anons are talking about the staff trying to keep the conflict going to prevent cooperation for escape but I imagine the headmistress does not want it to go overboard and lose possible tools for the future.
>>
>>3554267

Well damn. My only defense is apparently my professor back in the day was unaware of this or didn't care and taught it anyway.
>>
>>3555050
Just kick the shit out of him the next time we're in any kind of training exercise and the opportunity presents itself.
>>
>>3555055
The experiment being fake hasn't even been confirmed, it's just constant back-and-forth from what I've seen. The one thing that could have actually altered the results, without any defense from the professor, is that the students he recruited could have naturally been more aggressive than normal; another study from 2007 attempted to recreate the recruitment conditions with similar wording for their fake ads and found that to be the case.
>>
>>3555050
Basically this>>3555060
>>
>>3555060
>>3555069
Fair enough.

Perhaps James can engage in a bit of hot anger. Though it'd probably terrify White Hair more if James still kept to his cold anger philosophy and beat the shit out of him methodically.

Do we actually have any ideas on how to change our body and get advantages against him other than fur? I imagine that wouldn't help much if we end up in a situation where he can freeze us directly.
>>
>>3555078
Antifreeze blood like some arctic fish? Or maybe a really high internal body temperature or getting really fat
>>
>>3555078
Extra lipids/fat to act as blubber/insulation? That and possibly burning energy to raise our body heat. That's about all I got.

As for beating Snowball up in school sanctioned matches, it's less hot rage and more cold punishment. We hit just a little hard, twist just a little further. Heavily bruised and bloody? We were just taking the exercise seriously. Broken bones? Honest mistake. Just make it really hurt, just up to the point that we're not obvious about it
>>
>>3555078
Well one of the main tools he used when we fought him in the pop quiz is blunt force, just throwing ice balls at us. I think it's pretty what we do to protect against that; bone armor around vital areas.
>>
>>3555090
That should be a colon, not a semicolon. My bad.
>>
>>3555084
>Antifreeze blood like some arctic fish?
Damn, looking this stuff up, really interesting stuff. Particularly this bit
>https://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=132798
>The protein-bound ice crystals that accumulate inside their bodies resist melting even when temperatures warm.
> "What we found is that the antifreeze proteins also stop internal ice crystals from melting. That is, they are anti-melt proteins as well."

>>3555089
>That and possibly burning energy to raise our body heat
Oof, the thing about that is that it means using up our biomass too, rather than re-purposing it. Could be our only choice right now, though. We really need to experiment more.

>>3555090
Internal or external? It's probably easier to just have a sort of bone mesh inside our body rather than manifesting it outside. Can leave it on permanently without looking different, too.

Speaking of which, Monitor, did we shift back from Big Guy mode after the battle?
>>
>>3555078
Honestly, being huge and having shaggy fur should be enough. Consider the Bison for example- able to winter Yellowstone and nuke bears that attack it. It’s just a matter of having enough fur, muscle mass, and presence of mind to ruin this dude.
>>
>>3555108
>Internal or external
The internal bone mesh is a good idea, but if we wanted maximum protection we could go Mercer armor mode. They're not mutually exclusive, internal could be our baseline and we could shift on the external as needed.
>did we shift back from Big Guy mode after the battle
I'm going to assume yes, because it would be dumb if we didn't.
>>
>>3555111
Yeah. Sasquatch mode is the best way to fight him. The 2nd best way is to come up with some kind of ablative epidermis. Layer it so that when the top layer freezes it sheds away and he has to refreeze the new layer rather than just continue letting the cold seep into our body.
>>
>>3555011
The only hint we've sorta gotten is the first time when we ate the steak. We learned how to create those tissues...but not anything else to do with the animal in question. Eating eggs also hasn't given us anything nor plants. Which honestly means that atm our assimilation ability fucking sucks and needs serious upgrades. At the moment we can only eat animals to benefit and we ONLY unlock whatever it is we directly ate.

Which you know sucks pretty hard all things considered. So right now if we wanna get a better understanding of brains, for example, we literally have to eat brains. Eating anything else even if it's from the same body won't count in terms of improving our brain related abilities. QM has acknowledged there is a way to improve this but we got nothing. We don't even know how to make use of plant or fungi we've eaten.

So hey it really wouldn't be a bad idea to go fishing and eat some bugs whole. We can at least gain some starter armour if we ate a bug to learn how to grow carapace.

>>3555078
multi-layered coats(both polar bears and penguins do this), blubber, and antifreeze blood/cell tissue.

Chomping on some cold water fish should give us the antifreeze blood. Blubber isn't hard to understand if not we can munch on some more fatty animals. Which come to think of it means finding upgrades for the cold is actually pretty fucking easy. I know best heat upgrades are equator and friggin volcanic bacteria related.

Keep in mind he literally tried to kill us when he shot our forehead. We would have died or gotten brain damage if it weren't for how much effort we put into reinforcing our bones previously.

As for dissuading someone like snowball the trick is to make it abundantly clear it is not worth fucking with us. Period. Sadly with someone that stupid, this means inflicting as much pain and misery as possible for the smallest of excuses since it's impossible to reason with him. Since he's the 'leader' if he does something we beat him so bad that we make him wish he were dead and we randomly choose someone in his group for the same treatment while pinning their misfortune blame on their boss for not stopping him. If a minion of his does something we beat both of so badly they wish they were dead. Sabotage him and his people in classwork as much as possible. Blame them for the smallest mistakes and hyperinflate them to the staff. Create elaborate plans to sabotage them as much as possible. Pit them against each other. Instigate conflict between his group and others.

Since he's the 'boss' he is naturally responsible for any bullshit his minions pull and we punish one of the minions at random for anything he does for being too stupid to follow him. The goal is very simple its to make his life a living hell and intimidate the rest into never wanting to fuck with us under any circumstance. Simple.

Naturally, we will need to teach our friends how to pin the blame on others and be smart about sabotaging them as much as possible.
>>
>>3555166
Oh right here are some very simple rules to keep in mind before I go into deeper detail.

1 ALWAYS get revenge
2 NEVER start it
3 be smart
4 maximize intimidation

In order to convince friends to beat the ever living shit out of the enemy far more than necessary tell them this. Maximize pain and minimize harm. Remember pain disables but harm cripples. If they fight them it's actually 'kinder' to just inflict pain then actual harm as its easier to recover from.

That is why they use the fatherbox after all. Causing undue harm means time must be wasted on recovery. Pain doesn't have that problem and is just as convincing.

When dealing with neutral parties. Be friendly. Be helpful. Be scary. Make it clear if they are so kind as to...target our foes we will not forget such favour and since we cannot be friends. That don't mean we cannot be allies who help each other. Once you get the ball rolling there is always someone who will want help us out if only to avoid being on our bad side.

Maximum intimidation at all times when in the presence of others. This means giving the most terrifying, cruel, ingenious, and gruesome suggestions as if we were merely talking about the weather. When we talk in the presence of others is meant to be scary. Advice from us must be good, sincere, and nightmarishly effective. The point is very simple. We have to make it painfully clear that is FAR better to be on our good side than bad. This doesn't mean we have to show them why personally...we just have to reveal that we always have plans that we can use and we won't flinch when doing so. By speaking up first and revealing our terrible designs means there is a chance we won't have go through with it at all. If we do...well we DID warn them after all. This means whenever we discuss anything in the presence of others we must make it painfully clear just how terrible it is to face us and how good it is to be on our side. Be calm about it. Act as if it were all perfectly normal and that your still totally a nice guy. Never get into it. That is far scarier then being an honest psycho who loves it. At least you can safely reason with us!

When dealing with the enemy we mustn't let a single thing slide no matter how small or accidental. All of them guilty but they all have a way out. Its not our fault they didn't bother so they deserve 0 kindness. Never give them any mercy and never accept an excuse. They know exactly how to not be on our bad side but they refused. Now they need to pay the price. So we must destroy them and make them cower to the point of never daring to give us the slightest reason to target them.

Make sure to approach the neutral group and be helpful in exchange for mutual assistance. They help us we help them. Simple. If they don't better stay neutral or else. After knowing how fucked up our enemy is and how reasonable we are. A few are bound to be willing to offer assistance. We merely have to give them an excuse and help them out in turn.

>>
>>3555090
If we want to better defend against blunt force than really thick hide and fur is the way to go right? It would also help with the cold too, so in general thick blubber, hide, and fur is the best way to deal with Snowball and most ice users.
>>
>>3555470
I'm confused about everyone's thoughts on snowball. IIRC we've never seen him "freeze" anyone. We've just seen him fabricate ice and snow. Are you guys using meta knowledge about cold snap?
>>
>>3555485
It's a likely assumption if someone's able to throw ice balls that they made out of thin air they probably can freeze you as well
>>
>>3555498
If he could freeze us he would've done it from the beginning. He doesn't seem like the type to hide things -- although that could also mean he's really good at hiding things.
>>
>>3555485
It’s a pretty safe assumption. We’ve seen him make hoar frost when he got mad, and he generates snow and ice. Itd be pretty damn weird if he could do that without lowering the temperature somehow.
>>
>>3555505
He might not be able to yet
>>
>>3555505
He’s probably not at the skill level to do a ranged Mr Freeze style you’re now an ice block attack. But he can almost assuredly start freezing us and giving us frostbite in close proximity/contact.
>>
>>3555510
Get out of my head
>>
>>3555485
Anon I have no idea who this character is but he can blast snow. Thinking he has the potential to lay on the cold with repeated snowballs to the face or even freeze us is a safe assumption. Honestly, not everything needs to be bluntly told to us, we can connect the dots without needing to read up on the character.
>>
>>3555513
It's just so obvious though
>>
He also has the ability to make an “avalanche” of snow around himself, that he used to break down the door. If we get caught in that, fur or blubber is a must to keep up afloat and alive.
>>
Let's do a quick anon intent count while waiting for monitor
How many of you want

Magneto route is go. Take the crew. Though depending on circumstances I could be pushed towards total monster.

Call me indecisive, but I'm pretty much fine with everything except the monster and villain routes.

I just don't really see James committing to anything immediately after escaping HIVE. Maybe he'll try to go back to civilian life, try to forget what happened but soon realize that is just not gonna happen.

...I think I'd prefer striking off on our own.
>>
>>3556585

Any of them are good and I don't care if we go villain or full hero, but being the thing that makes you fear the darkness intrigues me. This character can be extremely terrifying if we go full body horror abomination.

As for me personally I'm all for trying to become either a superhero team with our friends or trying to become a revolutionary and fucking up people who attempt to enslave or force meta-humans into doing shit with EXTREME prejudice.
Which will make dealing with Waller fun.
We can also attempt to make our own utopia where Metas are safe from all the bullshit.
>>
>>3556677
>I don't know enough about DC to get involved, do they even have problems with metas like Marvel with mutants?
...Not to the same extent as in Marvel, I don't think? At least, it's not touched up on as much in the the DC universe.

Mercenary. Neither a hero nor a villain, just a guy who has a unique set of skills that let him make a damn good living.

>>
I hope Monitor posts soon.

>>
>>3556827
From what I've seen of previous posters, the plan is to basically work together with Tera to make Markovia or whatever she's from a haven for Metas where they won't be discriminated against.

Couple big flaws in this plan, she's not next in line for the throne, she's got a couple of big brothers and an uncle. Two, Meta's aren't really that discriminated against in the first place since this is DC.

On the plus side, we get to waifu a princess and get to devote ourselves to a decent cause. (and maybe keep all the bad things from happening to poor Tera.)
>>
>>3556872
They aren't really discriminated against but naturally if you're fucking blue or look like a giant hulking lizard people aren't gonna treat you like they would treat other people.
And they are ripe for being used in nefarious plans like the nefarious plan we are currently trying not to be used in.
But not really to the point of Marvel where mutants get an incredibly bad rep for mostly no reason, I say mostly because Cyclops is a massive cunt and pisses the entire world off many times.
>>
>>3556827

My feelings are along the lines of >>3556882

They aren't overtly discriminated against but you better believe that, aside from swamp thing, there are no heroes that look/have ugly powers. If you look gross or have similar powers you tend to end up a villain in DC.

Plus there's no place really for powered folk who just want to live a normal life.
>>
>>3556882
>But not really to the point of Marvel where mutants get an incredibly bad rep for mostly no reason
Wasn't there that one germ that was making people hate mutants all along because it couldn't infect them and wanted them out of the way?
>>
>>3556585
>to go full monster
I will honestly be disappointed as hell if we don't go full body horror abomination with our powerset. There is just so much cool as fuck nightmarish shit we can do if we just let ourselves. Which is frankly my only reason. Truthfully if we keep up the body horror route I don't mind doing something else entirely instead. I just want to be nightmare fuel.

After the escape, we are sorta going to need Tara in order to acquire asylum and a new solid as fuck identity in her country. Which will be our best first base of operations. Its the best place we can run to after the escape and her family is going to owe us big time. Anywhere else and we simply won't have the connections or resources to cover our asses VS just tagging along with her back home. I mean really it's a no brainer so Tara is the most important in terms of usefulness. After that, we will obviously have a lot more breathing room to consider things and relative safety.

I would imagine our friends being a similar situation if they don't have any special cards to play that they neglect to mention(can't really blame them given whose listening). We can't exactly force them to come with and hopefully, they won't do something as stupid as heading back home to their families which will no doubt be bait for a big ass trap. To be frank I think a couple of them will probably join up with the superheroes and maybe the supervillains if on their own terms. We could possibly keep a couple of them around but we aren't exactly very persuasive. I think the most we can manage is staying together until we reach refuge with Tara's family. At that point, we will probably end up going on our separate ways. From what I can see currently our friends lean towards superhero and supervillain. We seem to be the only ones considering doing something else entirely.

>>3556827
It's not as serious as what Magneto has to deal with. Things to keep in mind is things like HIVE and Suicide Squad. As well as the poor metahumans who don't have a human appearance thus cannot pretend to be normal. Keep in mind people will happily shove a bomb inside skulls of metas and mindrape metahumans in order to do what they want.

Basically as a revolutionary we will be pissing off both sides by going after anyone who tries to use metahumans against their will, abuses them, and offering them refuge. Basically, we will be deeply pissing off a LOT of people.

There is even serious discrimination among superheroes against metahumans with freakish appearances and any who have disturbing powers to the point of forcing them all to go supervillain. Supervillains have been able to recruit them all simply due to their lack of bias. In the superhero defence though public opinion is a HUGE concern for them which the supervillains obviously don't have. People won't support them if they allow for monstrous metahumans and those with nightmarish powers.
>>
>>3556882
I remember that one Wolverine-centric strip going around a while back with some kid waking up one day and passively killing everyone around him because of some radioactive or gas type shit or something, I imagine stuff like that is one reason why they get a bad rep. It's one of those things that people criticize Marvel for when it comes to allegorical usage of the Mutants; these characters have superpowers that can do some real damage and it can come outta nowhere. No shit people would be afraid of them. And that is, of course, barring shitheads like Cyclops making things worse for everyone.
>>
I owe you all an apology, busy day. Update soon.

What curse?
>>
>>3556937
The QM curse is when quest runners just mysteriously vanish mid-thread forever. Usually blamed on the QM getting run over by a car or something.
>>
>>3556928
>Things to keep in mind is things like HIVE and Suicide Squad
This feels like a really strange point to make. HIVE are a group of villains and are explicitly trying to turn us into useful tools hence making us metahumans in the first place. They've had no qualms of callously throwing aside normal humans with their weird black goo. Suicide Squad is a group of supervillains who already have a history of crime, it's not a surprise they're treated like garbage. Like with HIVE they're supposed to be tools and have members that aren't even metahumans.
>>
>>3556950
>Usually blamed on the QM getting run over by a car or something.
Ah, reminds me of the tragic tale of Zion: disappears, returns with news of having been hit by a car, disappears again, returns with same news, and then disappears a third time, and his players wait with bated breath for news of the third accident.
>>
>>3556952
I mean, the suicide squad is a government sanctioned group of MOSTLY supervillains.
If you're just a meta that was arrested for something relatively minor but have a power useful for a mission, welcome to the squad! Here's your free brain bomb.
>>
>>3556827
Not a magnetofag, but I can definitely see the perks:
>Gives an overarching goal to the quest
>Fits the experiences of the character so far
>Allows us to be a “good guy” without having to adhere to hero codes(no cannibalism, no body horror, etc.)
>Let’s us team up/go against heroes or villains on our own initiative, rather than being on one side or the other
>Allows us to eat people, as long as they are sufficiently “bad”
Honestly it’s not a bad goal to aim for, just not quite my cup of tea.

Alright so I'm reading up on a load of comments, these posts in particular, about Meta-Discrimination. Here's the thing, to be discriminated you first need to be considered a person. When you're Meta in DC, though it may never be outrightly spoken, you cease to be a person and become a resource to exploit. You know what I'm talking about. Hell it's happening right now. But for a better view, I give you Ace as a prime example.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YOooJW5SSDA

Since her infancy she was experimented on and turned into a government attack dog. She should've been throwing a million frisbies at once with a million puppies to catch them all in a field full of flowers, smiling happily that she was lucky to be so gifted. Instead, there she was. Backed into a corner and hound for the very thing that made her so great. She never got the chance to experience any real happiness because to the people around her she wasn't a person with feelings. Feelings were dangerous to them, as was thought and person-hood.

Let's not forget, she was one of the lucky ones! Anons make a good point, that physical deformations determine a great deal of what people think of you. People always forget there's more to Waylon Jones than just Killer Croc. He is a victim of circumstance. Abused by the same kind of people that are locking us up right now. This dude helps the homeless, avenges dead cops that do right by him, he even helps people into AA meetings for god's sake. Look at him. He just wants to be left alone. He doesn't want to eat anyone, he just needs a hug. We can give him that hug. Him and everyone else who needs it. We have the ability to do so, we have the power! We have the obligation...

With great power, comes great responsibility.

Reminds me of the tragic tale of UberNEET, survivor of the QM Curse:
> My formerly alcoholic and autistic but otherwise healthy grandfather died out of nowhere, two days after the ban, leaving me reeling

Right. Look, If at some point I can no longer continue, or if there is going to be a hiatus, I will tell you all. I won't just disappear, I like to think I'm better than that.

Otherwise I will post at least once a day. I'll try to be more frequent like I have been in the past, but I can't promise it. Some days things just get a little crazy is all, and it takes a bit before I get a free minute.

Now this following section is intended to provide information only. This does not represent me supporting one side or another. Just providing information so everyone can make an informed decision.

Warning, spoilers for young justice season three ahead.

Regarding predation of meta humans in universe. In the standard DC universe meta's have it pretty good comparatively speaking. There isn't active hatred like you get in Marvel, although there is a certain degree of discrimination against those with unnatural appearances or frightening abilities.

Within the Young Justice universe as seen in season three which is the basis for this quest, there are a few things that are non standard.

One is meta human trafficking, which is a major plot point for the series. That isn't really a thing in the standard DC universe, at least not to this degree, but in Young Justice it very much is. To use some direct quotes from the show.

"Meta humans are being treated as the next exploitable resource. By first world countries, third world countries, rogue nations, corporations; its a global pandemic." -Batman

Child abduction and human experimentation are occurring on, and again this is a direct quotation, and unprecedented scale. The season revolves around various meta exploitation plots and organizations that participate in them. This quest likewise deals with said issues as a major theme. You're tied up in it, and it will likely remain relevant even after your escape, because people will want you.

Two, is that due to misuse of meta's by some organizations and due to super villain activity some countries and civilians are shown to have a fear of meta humans in general which is not typically present in DC. Meta humanity appears to be becoming a political issue. In season three we see at least one nation where significant political debate is occurring on what to do about the "meta human menace" so it is something that may spill out in some places. It doesn't appear to be a widespread problem, but it is a sentiment that is growing somewhat.

Now, this quest is occurring prior to these quotes and events from season three, but that's the way things are headed in universe.

>Now, this quest is occurring prior to these quotes and events from season three, but that's the way things are headed in universe.
I can see James going the revolutionary route if he escapes from HIVE and returns to all this shit coming to a head. He has the benefit of being able to be perfectly normal so he might not face it directly but considering his friends, he'll probably have to deal with it at some point.
>>

Neat.

Also don't worry about not posting enough. Do things at your own pace. This is a really good quest, you're a really good writer and I'm pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say we don't want you getting burned out.

My intention is
>Escape HIVE with Tara (Rest of the group is also okay tho)
>Take Tara back to Markovia
>Take Tara as wife (Hopefully, our interactions and experiences together will ensure she will have us and that her parents approve) to secure ourselves a place in Markovian royalty.
>Become ruler of Markovia
>Start speaking in third person.
>Become wildcard
>Become Victor Von Doom of DC

Anon, no. Tara's older sibling aren't going to die, if we have any say on the matter.

I get where the revolution fags are coming from but I just- WANNA BE A COOL BROODING ANTI HERO OK? IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?

Anon don't be ridiculous

Doom overthrows royalty, he doesnt marry into it
>>

Perhaps he could be persuaded to relinquish the crown? After all, why stress over making Markovia the best country in the world when you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy a life of luxury as prince while your younger sister and your brother-in-law do it for you?

Magneto is a cool brooding anti-hero though.
He just has a goal.
It's not like he doesn't chip in when the world needs it.

Right, they definitely heard that. Now you could address the issue, but that would be awkward. Yeah no, don’t want to deal with that right now. Now deflection, deflection sounds good.

“So, where’s that staff member at. Are they here?” You ask after clearing your throat.

“Uh not yet” Says Roxy after a moment of silence where they all just looked at you.

“Well I guess we’ll just have to wait then.” You reply. Okay, they’re still staring. Gotta stall for time. Gotta change the subject. Now. “So Roxy, I hear you’re really good at DDR and I missed it last time. Care to dance?”

….Well, not the best idea you ever had on the spur of the moment, but it could work. Your friends look at each other and share a look. Right, they aren’t going for it. Crap.

“James-” Tara starts to say, eyes still red from her earlier crying. Actually wait, she’s teary eyed currently. Crap, you don’t do crying girls. You don’t know how to handle that shit.

“Kid” calls out a familiar voice from behind you, drawing your attention. And also fortunately providing you a nice out from the heartfelt discussion that may or may not have been about to happen. Thank goodness.

Standing over by the stairs is the familiar large frame of your shape-shifting teacher Larson. He looks a little different than usual, takes you a minute to place it. No smile. His lips are pressed firmly together in a small frown. You see him sigh, and then he jerks his head towards the stairs.

“Come on kid-kids” He catches himself and addresses you and your friends “I’ll take you to medical to see your friend.”

Huh, you’d expected one of the goons on staff, not your teacher.

“You know this guy?” Asks Liz in a whisper as your friends fall in beside you and you walk as a group over to the stairs.

“Yeah” You reply “His names Larson, he’s the guy teaching me to use my powers.”

“What’s he doing here?” Asks Roxy

“Showing us to Cait apparently” Mutters Ralph.

When your a few feet from the stairs Larson turns and starts up the steps ahead of you. “This way kids” He calls to you over his shoulder.

The walk to medical is quiet. Larson isn’t saying anything and your friends seem disinclined to talk among themselves in his presence. Your teacher takes you and your friends up past the second and then the third floors. Your destination is on the fourth floor it seems. He leads you through a set of double doors and down a long sterile white hallway before motioning at the entrance to a room on your right.

“She’s in there” He tells you and the others. His voice is subdued, grim. “She’s unconscious at the moment, but the medical staff is certain that she’ll make a full recovery without any lasting physical damage. She’d be awake now actually, but the doctors felt it was safer to leave her under for a bit. Feel free to head in, but don’t touch anything.”

He opens the door and ushers you in. Tara is the first through, followed by Ralph and Liz. You’re the next closest, but as you move to go through the door Larson reaches out and puts a hand on your shoulder.

“Hold on a moment kid” He says with that same grim look on his face. “I need to talk to you for a second.”

Roxy pauses, hesitating to enter the room and leave the two of you alone.

“Go on” He tells her, face softening slightly “I’m not going to hurt the Kid, just need a word that’s all.”

Roxy looks over to you for confirmation, and you give her a small nod. It’s not like you have too much of a choice. She looks at the two of you for a moment more, and then slowly walks into the room. Once she’s gone through the door Larson closes it behind him.

He sighs again before speaking. “Listen Kid, I’m sorry about your friend. It won’t be happening again. The man responsible has been dealt with.”

“You and your friends will never see him again.” He tells you and his lips curl up exposing his teeth. Calling it a smile wouldn’t do the predatory nature of his facial expression justice, couldn’t capture how vicious all those bare teeth and that glint in his eye looks. “I can promise you that.”

Well, there’s only so many ways to take that.

“He’s not dead” Larson chuckles darkly, must have seen something in your facial expression. “Let’s just say he’s been reassigned to a position outside of domestic operations, and leave it at that.”

His grin lingers a bit longer, and then he blinks and his face smooths back out.

“In any case, the headmistress will make an announcement about how he was let go. Bring in his replacement all of that, but when I heard you were asking to see your friend I figured I’d volunteer to take you so you could hear it from me.” He tells you. “I wanted you to know he got more than just a slap on the wrist. Feel free to tell your friends if you think it would make them feel better. Now get in there Kid, I’ll be here when you’re ready to leave.”
>>
>>3557489

He opens the door and gestures for you to head in. Looking inside through the doorway you see your friends are clustered around a bed in the center of the space where Caitlin is laid out asleep. There’s a beeping ECG machine keeping track of her steady heartbeat, and an IV drip line set up. You’ve never really spent much time in hospitals, but it looks like what you’d seen in medical dramas, albeit a bit more spartan. No plants or nice sunny window. No chairs for visitors either.

Everyone is silent, seemingly caught in their own thoughts. Tara is holding one of the larger unconscious girls hands between her own. Roxy is standing next to the blonde girl close to the bed. You watch Ralph hover on the edge of the room until Liz puts a hand on his shoulder and lead him closer to the bed to stand with the others.

What do you do?

>Go inside, wait for one of your friends to say something. The mood seems pretty somber.

>Go inside, pass along Larson’s assurance that the teacher was dealt with. It might make them feel better.

I'm not convinced HIVE was the one using the Tar on people. Doesn't seem like HIVE's MO going by what I know.
Personally I think it was CADMUS experimenting with the Tar, and they simply sold surviving test subjects to help fund the research.

Like I said man, half the time when introduced to people who don't scream at him at first sight, notably kids and the elderly, Killer Croc is a nice dude. He's just been so badly mistreated cause of his condition, and make no mistake, it is a condition. That's canon. It's like people attacking you cause of how your teeth look, it's bullshit. We need to find Waylon Jones and give him a hug.

This particular set was from Batman Earth One though I forget what Volume. Give it a read sometime, it's pretty good.

>>
>>3556990
Wait but that pic is from an otherworld comic set in setting where gotham is way more normal and Killer Croc was just some runaway carnie living in the sewers.

But anyway I see the appeal to the revolutionary, I just think it would make more sense if MC's focus was on liberaring the metas from Hive specifically, destroy them as an organization, and then eventually going full Magneto during his crusade as he sees more and more of the sick shit people do to get themselves a squad of meta-powered pawns. Rather than going straight to Magneto route, you need a little of that inbetween you know?
>>
>>3557750
Of course, we can't immediately go full revolutionary.
We need a trigger for it.
Another thing I realised, if we get good enough at our biokinesis and can effect other people, not only will we be able to heal other people's injuries, we will also likely be able to activate their meta-gene if they have one.
>>
>>3557753
>activate their meta-gene if they have one
Or deactivate it.
Or steal it.
>>
>>3557771
If we are actually capable of doing that at any point we will easily be one of the most powerful beings on the planet.
>>
>>3557753
Or enhance it, or do any genetic bullshit we want. Just imagine how much the world would change if there was a guy that can steal your powers if you act like an asshole and give them to someone that will use said powers to help others. Not only that:
>You are a natural supergenious ( like Luthor, no powers) that wants to conquer the world by any means necessary.
>You just failed your last plan to blow up Metropolis so Sups goes crazy and you can kill him and be declared emprah of mankind.
>Suddenly, this random guy appears from nowhere and grabs you by the neck.
>You wake up in a hospital, chained to your bed.
>Time to think a plan to get out of here.
>You can't because that guy altered your genes and brain and you are now a regular guy with memories of being a supergenious.
>FUCK.
That way we can fuck anyone whose powers come from a biological source (magic is still a problem). The downside is that everyone would want us dead, so we better keep it hidden until we are kriptonian tier at least.
>>
So things we can probably already do
>be biologically immortal, can't really die of old age when you can control how old you look/are
>be immune to poison, we can control the interior of our body, eject/destroy that shit
>be immune to hallucinogens
>be immune to control powers that aren't psionic in nature (pheromones etc)
And that's just as we are now.
We might even be able to reverse aging on others with enough practice if we ever get to the stage where we can actually affect others.
*Ra's Al Ghul would like to know your location*
>>
>>3557973
Control powers that aren't psionic OR magical, I should correct.
>>
>>3557973
We better keep HIVE from knowing the full extent of our powers, just imagine the auction to get us as a sidekick:
>Joseph Mercer.
>Metahuman.
>Highly intelligent, competent and adaptable.
>Wide knowledge about biology, chemistry, physics, programming/hacking and many other fields due to eidetic memory and hyperfast synapses.
>Perfect Biokinesis, both over himself and others.
>Can leave your enemies powerless as long as they aren't magic users.
>Can give you their powers.
>Is immortal as long as you feed him.
>Omnivorous, like, literally.
>Can cure anything.
>Can make you immortal.
The bets would be insane.
And then everyone would try to kill everyone else in the auction house to be the winners, the JL notices the massive top tier villain fight and beats them. Then you get an autograph from Superman, or give him one depending on how much of the talk he heard.
>>
>>3558017
I mean, we still have a lot of unknowns about our power.
If that's our end game though we really are bullshit.
Also we will be able to give ourselves photosynthetic skin so we don't need to eat as much too.
>>
>>3558031

>>
>>3558112
>>3558176
Because a succesful amoral Mercer that
eats everyone and has no fear to experiment with his power/lose his humanity would be both extremely powerful and dangerous. Doomsday level at least and a new whole level at worst.
>>
>>3558200
Whole new*
>>
>>3558200
No I mean the dark multiverse in general.
We've already got Earth-3 for evil parallels of heroes.
>>
>>3557973
If we want to develop our power then we need to start trying out the small stuff first. Better senses. Claws. Healing.

Save full on DC Universe En Sabur Nur until later.
>>
>>3558252
He already seems to have a mild (but effective) healing factor.

I do think anons are getting ahead of themselves in regards to our powers and making a LOT of assumptions. Like, even Larson said our power is about versatility. Not about eating krptonians and getting to doomsday levels.
>>
>>3558302
>I do think anons are getting ahead of themselves in regards to our powers and making a LOT of assumptions.

I agree with that statement
>>
>>3558302
We lied to Larson about our true ability. He doesn't know we're increasing our mass either, I think.
We're not a shapeshifter, we're a Biokinetic.
But yeah the what-ifs are just for fun, that's just the very limit our powers can be taken to if we master them and we manage to affect ourselves and others down to the DNA or whatever.
>>
>>3558056
>>3558031
I think QM should think about limiting (until we level up enough) our more bullshit powers and give us a list of some stuff we could pull right now. That way we avoid crazy theories and useless arguments about our possible powers and power aplication (can you eat a a ton of meat and bone? Yes, but you need time to process and compact it. Can you get upgrades from animals? Yes, but only after spending a few hours/days to study it's biology, depending on how complex it is and how high your nerd/biology skills are. We should be able to study any animal/organism we want at any time, but trying to replicate something above our level takes way more time [specially metas]). Letting us develop our "survival" powers (like becoming denser, regen, consuming, studying and incorporating different types of biomass and regular materials [celulose from paper, rubber and plastic, steel... common shit that most regular capes and trained non capes have acces to and can deal with]) to a decent tier, but keeping us from going full Prototype Mercer in a day.
I'm suggesting this because i think this quest is great, but anons not knowing how to advance/escape because we have only a vage understanding of what we can do is becoming a little frustrating.
>>
>>3558357
Fyi, there is an implant in the back of our body that can heal or disable us. I think its not a far stretch that it can at least read SOME of our body vitals information or scans, and send some of that information back, or act as a tracking device.
>>
>>3558408
>but anons not knowing how to advance/escape because we have only a vage understanding of what we can do is becoming a little frustrating.
Well, the escape part isn't that big of an unknown, given Joseph already knows the location of the complex he's trapped in(somewhere a hundred miles or kilometers off the coast of New Jersey IIRC) and the biggest obstacle is the Control Chip. There's just a LOT of variables, and THAT prevents us from making detailed escape plans.

Also we DO have a... seven month(?) timeframe to escape. The faster the better of course, but unless Monitor decides to do months-long timeskips we have no cause to hurry for several threads still.
>>
>>3558441
As much as I would legitimately enjoy playing out seven months, I'm pretty sure we're gonna get timeskipped within the next thread or so. Less patient anons are going to get bored of train, sleep, repeat pretty soon.
>>
>>3558441
Oh yeah, Gotham is in New Jersey in case anyone wants to try and get Batman's help when we escape.
I guess we'd just have to loiter about the Bat signal.
But yeah, we just need to discover our current limits.
It's technically possible for us to remove the chip right now, but I want that to be as sure a thing as possible.
Also during an escape we'd have to have our group traverse 100 miles.
Cait has superhuman physicals so she'll probably be fine
We're bullshit so we'll be fine.
Tara, Roxy, Liz and Ralph however won't be able to make it solo.
Either the swimmers carry them on their backs, which might work
Or
Roxy and Terra combine their powers to levitate a big rock for the escape, which is kinda too obvious and will lead to detection
Or
Maybe Ralph could grow some Seaweed/deepsea vegetation into giant variants for vines to act as rest spots, bonus points if they are strong enough to hold up enough rocks manipulated by Tara so that it just looks like a rocky outcropping but actually has a hollow shell

Ralph and Tara could collaborate to make a primitive little submersible thing out of dirt and plants. Like a crude diving bell or bathysphere that us or Caitlin can drag through the ocean.
>>
>>3558494
>>3558514
We could make our organism so efficient it requires little to no food, use what HIVE gives use only for upgrades, learn how to make super choloplasts (we MUST get photosinthesis as soon as we can, we need a way to get food without HIVE knowing).
Also QM, If there was a way we could see how much we need to make a breakthrough with our powers (like: you are at 5/10 for next level) it would be great.
>>
>>3558700
Also turn into a living submarine and carry everyone inside a special bag, maybe even make seats out of bone.
>>
>>3558704
A little weird.
And we'd need a fuckload of biomass to do so.
>>
>>3558704
We all live in a fucking seamonster, a fucking teenager, a gigantic ravager.
We all live in a metahuman freak, a messed up human being, a huga ass fucking thing.

And Mercer is the one singing it. Those poor teenager are either laughing their asses off or crying in terror.
>>
>>3558705
That's why I proposed ways to get a fuckload of biomass in my previous post (a month is a lot of time to fish, hunt, filter, make full skin photosintesis and eat for four persons, maybe five).
>>
>>3558753
Then we've got to deal with being about as heavy as a truck while small, that's gonna raise a few eyebrows.
>>
>>3558704
Oh oh oh! What if we start vibrating our body at the universal constant and open up a portal to the source wall and then gain the power of the source and the use it to eat The Presence and all of his court!

Like guys, cmon. Try to keep it grounded.
>>
>>3558753
Also an aquatic humanoid form so we won't need to adapt to a completely new body structure.
>>
>>3558760
Man, there's been a fuckton of theorizing about our power's possibilities, one of which is affecting others (something I don't think QM has commented on), but the one that you decide to interject on is the one that we know is actually possible for Joseph given enough biomass?
>>
>>3558758
They probably have anti-air defenses, Tara and Roxy flying away with everyone is risky (unless they can go really fast and avoid the shots until someone comes to see why are missiles exploding in the coast of Gotham). We should split either way, those who can swim and won't get captured go by themselves or in pairs. That way we split HIVE forces and make sure none of us has to fight alone.
>>
>>3558766
Nah that was just the straw that broke the camels back. Like, I get it. His powers are really cool and it’s a really good quest with a really good QM and actual decent choices made by the anons.

But come on guys, hold your horses on the power speculation it’s getting really out of hand.

Mercer is a BIOKINETIC. I'm keeping it pretty grounded.
>>
The only thing we need to figure is if we can affect other people bodies. If yes we should be able to get out no problem if not well we are fucked.

>there's a guy who becomes a godtier metabeing by standing out in the sun for a little bit
Ok
>>
>>3558774
>Straw that broke the camels back is doing something entirely within the realms of even somebody like fucking Beast Boy
Biokinesis is a super strong power and if HIVE knew that's what we had then you bet your ass we don't get to stay at Supervillain school and instead get transferred.
>>
>>3558774
The straw that broke the camel's back is normal shapeshifting into a big fish?
>>
>>3558774
We were given the choice to turn into a fucking giant monster when we trained with Larson, I think especulating refers to making asumptions about things you don't know about, but given that our revealed powers are complete cellular control, conscious adaptation/shapeshifting and biomass consumption, thinking we can't SHAPESHIFT INTO ANOTHER FORM is like saying the Flash can't go fast.
>>
You know we could get photosynthesis pretty easily just by eating some plants from Ralph. We just need to figure out how to ask him without revealing our ability to emulate traits.

I guess the easiest thing we could do is say we're testing our abilities to see if we can emulate plant biomatter and just say it didn't work when we "try" to test it.

That or just say we want to compare with our body is more efficient with prepared meals or living organisms.
>>
>>3558753
Honestly, even then I doubt we'd get enough time to harvest enough biomass for a form as big as you're suggesting, not to mention the amount of time it would take to actually shift into said form.

No, no. We need to keep things simple and efficient for the escape. Because once we spring the escape, time will be of the essence. We need to be out on the sea as quickly as possible.
What I was thinking of was that Ralph would manipulate wood and plant matter into a boat (and oars just in case), and Joseph would shift into an aquatic form to pull said boat at least par of the way to the mainland. The question then, would be what size is suitable enough for pulling. Maybe something comparable to a Great White Shark?

Anyways, once Mercer tires he can shift back, climb back onto the boat and... perhaps Ralph can manipulate the boat to have some sort fins he could move to push the boat forward? Other students tagging along would then use aforementioned oars to help speed things up and maybe even use powers where applicable.
>>
>>3558790
>Flash can't go fast
You mean like in every comic which isn't him solo and he manages to get spanked by people thousands of times slower than him?
>>
>>3558801
Which never makes any sense yet still happens whenever the current Flash writer isn't writing him yes
>>
>>3558776
Except not really. At this point we can manage turning into a seven foot tall dude with octopus suckers on his arms.

Being grounded means realizing that there is light years of difference between that and turning into a living goddamn submersible that can keep 4-6 people alive in its gut.

Like sure, it’s possible, but it’s extremely doubtful that joe can get the amount of practice and experience he needs to pull that off in just a few months. He’s had his powers for like, 3 days. Calme te.
>>
More forms to trigger moralfa...I mean, to give ideas for the future, yes... (but seriously, If someone starts complaining abuot us turning into the most efficient and effective form for a task because "we will look like a monster and that is not capeshit heroic and will hurt muh feelings" I'm dropping the quest. We are a shapeshifter. Even martian manhunter, one of the greatest heroes of earth is scary as fuck in his real form.We can keep a human form most of the time but when we need it, I support going full warform.

>>3558799
Yeah, I'd put swimming back to land out of the question and get a boom tube to Markovia maybe, or the Justice League HQ.
>>
>>3558805
The only person who ever overperforms in the league is Batman, who honestly has no business there anyway.
Martian Manhunter usually has a lighter chucked at him and he's reduced to a screaming mess
Flash punches people ineffectively until he gets one shot
Wonder Woman just generally does ok and then loses.

>Not knowing is becoming a little frustrating.

That's fair, I have kept some things dark intentionally, and I have tried to stay out of speculation. For a couple of reasons, but if this is causing frustration, which it seems to be, then perhaps it would behoove me to communicate with you all a bit more than I have been on the matter.

So, I'm going to start by answering some of the questions I see here, and then we'll have a bit of a Q and A session for the next half hour or so where unless it causes major problems for what I intend for the future of the quest I will do my best to answer any questions you all have.

First things first

>Can we effect others, or just our own flesh

Yes, you will be able to effect others. As I said earlier in the thread the learning opportunity for that should present itself shortly. I won't tell you exactly how to do it at first, I want to see if you come up with something better than what I have planned to be quite honest because I like to see your creativity, but if you struggle with it long enough I will throw you a bone so you can figure it out.

>Plant DNA?

Possible, will require practice and a greater understanding of your power. You'll get plants when you hit four dice in your power pool.

>Biokenetic

Yes you are, you're just not very good at it yet. Your powers are complex, with a high likelihood of hurting you or others if you mess up. Takes time to figure things out.

>Advancement.

As stated previously when you reach a combined number of 5 by adding up the quality of your forms and combat tricks you will advance your powers dice. So either getting something to quality 5, having five quality 1s, or some combination thereof like two quality 2's and a quality 1 etc. Going from four power dice to five will be more difficult, but when you get to that point I will give you the target number.

For advancing your nerd dice I hadn't given you a specific time frame, although I was keeping track for myself. I didn't want things to get too metagamey, but it's a moot point. To advance your nerd dice you are going to need fifteen successful study sessions. You are currently at 1/15. This will move you from Nerd 4 to Nerd 5.

>Escape

The biggest stumbling block is your implant. In previous threads anons poked at it a bit, and a dc was set. The DC is set at 30, and the pool would be Nerd and Powers. There are a few implications for this. Theoretically you could remove it right now, but if you attempt to do so and fail there will be serious repercussions. Mathematically speaking in order to have a good safe chance at removing it you would need 9d6, with which you would likely succeed. So you could advance to that point and then immediately try it, or you could stick around and keep growing. You do have seven months as far as you know, and you could likely get to 9 dice in those pools well before then. Of course getting it out is only part of escaping.

Hit me anons what do you want to know?
>>
>>3558814
Sure but as long as it looks cool.
We won't have any fighting experience fighting as a mass of tentacles anyway, remember Larson's advice, we'll be able to fight physically best in a humanoid shape.
Prototype's armoured form looks cool and is also unnerving.
>>
>>3558816
I've heard some plans to get rid of the chip in our spine by getting the father box itself and preventing the chip from being used in the first place. If we accomplish that we could boom tube as well
>>
The problem with our power is that is so powerful and versatile we can do literally anything given enough resources and time, so instead of doing something, we spend most threads arguing about what we can and should do instead of doing it.
>>
>>3558823
I did and I think you’re forgetting that joe needs detailed understanding of the biology he’s creating. Making an aquatic form is easy. Flippers, eat a fish and get gills etc.

You’re talking about creating an entirely new life form, from scratch, with an ability that does not exist in nature. (Life support for mammals inside of it).

Like yes, it’s POSSIBLE. But joe needs years of practice and experience with his power before being able to do that successfully, let alone learning how to make that form under Hives noses.
>>
>>3558850
>years of practice
Really underselling us here, chief.
We've figured out quite a lot in just a few days and James is a potential genius even without the power, which explicitly made him smarter somewhat.
Remember, in DC, it's canon that most people only use 10 percent of their brain.
>>
>>3558838
If we learn more about our nervous system etc will DC to remove it will be lowered?
>>
>>3558799
Kraken or a whale would be the best bet.

For escape vessel a capsule made of earth/plants with anti gravity afixed to it make it lighter/easier to move would go a long way. We transform into an ocean creature and drag along the capsule which hopefully has a breathing tube attached leading to the surface. Otherwise, we gotta figure out how to use extra gills and transfer the air from them into the capsule.

Personally, I would suggest turning into a kraken before using some of the tendrils to grab it and drag it along. Otherwise, our best bet is some kind of abominable hybrid form.

>>3558826
If its organic in nature then technically yes we can just keep in mind it will consume our biomass so we won't enjoy the infinite amount of items and it always has to be biotech in origin. In fact, I would imagine that is going to be our first power upgrade in terms of expanding our control to outside objects of our own creation. If we can figure it out creating our own clones, minions, and even living facilities will be possible.

>>3558838
So power upgrades are locked behind Powers dice?

>>3558850
Use whale form. Create an empty cavity close to blowhole when we come up to breath. Really not that hard actually just way too fucking expensive in terms of biomass.

>>3558849
Currently, anons are lost simply because they have no idea how to acquire upgrades. Its not that we don't know what we want...they just don't know to even go about unlocking the possibility to do so. So arguments of what to do personally are minimal simply because nobody even knows how to go about it.
>>
>>3558857
>Currently, anons are lost simply because they have no idea how to acquire upgrades.
We've had multiple opportunities to train and experiment outside of Larson, it's just that shit always happens with our group that we end up having to take care of that first. Hopefully with our outburst and the headmistress actually doing something about that teacher, we'll have some space to breathe
>>
>>3558816
A great white shark can swim at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. Assuming Mercer had the stamina in a form comparable to a GW Shark and could keep his speed at a constant 35 mph, it would take approximately 3 hours to reach inland.
Swimming our way to freedom is not impossible, if that's what you're worried about.
>>
>>3558850
Eat a fish.
Study it.
Eat another different fish/animal.
Study.
Repeat.
Make Ralph create plants that produce oxigen really fast and feed them with the CO2 our seaform generates.
Create a chamber inside our body big enough for everyone (childs and teenagers) to fit inside, not dancing around, but maybe crouched or sitting.
Get biomass in any of the ways we've alredy discussed.
Escape.
The only problem I see is underwater preassure and people not wanting to get inside us (create a hollow in our side for them to get in, not the mouth), but I'm sure we can deal with it.
>>
I think short time skips can really help with the pacing. So far we're managing every day, and that can get frustrating after awhile.

I think a time-skip montage of training, followed by days where we can micromanage, might be worth trying.
>>
>>3558838

Oh, other big thing I see asked about a lot.

>DNA

Eventually, and I say eventually because it's going to be a ways down the line I think, this will become possible. This is going to require you to have both a high nerd pool, possibly even a maxed out nerd pool, and a power pool of at least 6d6. Figuring it out may be what moves you from 6d6 to 5d8 for your powers pool, cause I'll be honest once you get dna replication you're going to go off the rails.

>Copying metapowers

I confess I am hesitant to allow this. You've already got some pretty bitching powers in my opinion, bio amazo seems like a bit much. So what I'll go with is cracking the meta gene is hard. People don't get it. If you get to the point where you can comprehend how the meta gene functions, then at that point you could copy powers if you have the power to back it up. So theoretically possible, but definitely not a short term thing, and not until after you comprehend dna. I'd suggest shelving that for a bit, and revisiting the idea when it becomes more feasible.

>>3558855

Learning more about your nervous system will not lower the dc. The study sessions will however increase your nerd dice. The task isn't going to get easier, you are just going to get more capable.

>>3558857

Upgrades to powers dice are had by using and experimenting with your powers. Developing more uses for them and practicing and getting better with them. Which is why as your uses for your powers, your forms and tricks, get better this eventually causes an upgrade in your power dice. Made sense to me as far as an abstraction that could be measured goes.

>How to aquire upgrades

Experiment, consume, adapt. Trying things that you think might work, same way you made the suckers. Ask Larson for ideas, like how he helped you with big guy or offered to teach you some combat tricks. Try and get some non standard things in your diet. Right now not the easiest thing to do, but you could find bugs like some anons have suggested, there might be some useful ideas to be had from bugs, and you can snatch and crunch a few quickly without drawing too much attention.

I'm sorry if I've made it seem confusing. I honestly hadn't intended for there to be confusion on how to advance. I had thought it rather clear, but it appears I did a much poorer job than I had thought. My apologies for my failing to explain things clearly causing you frustration.

>>3558871

I fully intend for there to be timeskips. I originally offered the the first time skip so we could jump to the end of this week last thread. Anons chose to play out the days and thus we got all this. I probably won't put it to the vote in the future, because we do need to get the ball rolling, and we'll be here far to long if we play out every day.
>>
>>3558838
Tanks for the explanation, I'm sorry if I got a little carried away, this quest is good and I have bad experiences with cape quests.
>>
>>3558874
Holy shit our powers are fucking bullshit.
>>
>>3558874
Doing week/2 week long timeskips and playing the important parts seems fine, but we should try to avoid skipping months because we only have 7 to spare and 7 choices give too little chances to rectify a failure or solve an unexpected issue.
>>
>>3558871
Basically this.
>>
>>3558878

Don't apologize. You have nothing to apologize for. If something is unclear, and it is causing frustration, then that's on me.

I'm the one who owes people an apology if the way I'm going about things is causing anons to have a less than enjoyable experience. This is a communal thing. There's give and take here, so I am always willing to listen and try to make things better for you all.

I'm sorry there has been bad experience with cape quests in the past. I will try to make this a positive experience. Can't promise I will succeed, but I will try.

>>3558874

One more thing I've seen bandied about that I should probably address since I touched on meta powers

>Incorporating elements of alien physiology

Also something I'm kinda hesitant about. That is going to be pretty close to end game. Like Bio Amazo. You can, but before you do that you'll need to comprehend DNA that evolved completely separate from anything on earth. Even the strangest creature on the planet was at least part of the same evolutionary tree as we are. Aliens will not be. So this will be after dna manipulation, and will take a lot of work. Multiple samples and experimentation before you can hope to get it down. Very very difficult, and the more bullshit the alien the harder it will be. Just nomming on superman won't be enough. But, given time, effort, and experimentation, it is possible. Very very far down the line though. This is end game stuff.

>>3558891

I was planning on doing weeks. It seemed like a good time frame.
>>
>>3558874
One thing I can't figure out is how to extend our power to things outside our body?

Since obviously, we know EXACTLY what's happening within our own body so we can obviously tinker with it at will. The best idea I could come up with is creating nerve tap to inject so as to link our nerves together and gain access to the different body status/map. Problem is it's really primitive/crude, will probably hurt like hell even us, and we should be able to do so without a direct connection.

Another thing I'm curious about is how 'connected' are we to our own cells and body? As in if we say start bleeding or a lose a body part can we still sense it/control it from afar? Basically, I know our connection to our own cells is wonky but I'm curious about how deep it really is. It seems to be exceedingly potent and close I just wanna know how extensive which isn't really something you have explained very much.

>>3558882
We are a biokinesis while we may suck in the beginning(see starving shapeshifter knockoff) the more we eat and the more we know the stronger we become. Once we understand how to shift flesh better we can literally sculpt people into acquiring different upgrades albeit it will probably hurt like hell. So it would be best to sever their nerve connection before we start and reattach when we're done. Once we can get DNA we mess with their DNA directly and can create viruses that can do something similar but won't require our babysitting.

Any minions we gain will be pimped out as fuck with our tinkering or we can just grow them ourselves even.
>>
>>3558897
You're doing a fantastic job explaining stuff, anons are just getting over-excited by the potential of our power, I don't think anyone legitimately was expecting ultimate alien hybrid with any meta-power he wants to be even close to early game or even mid-game.
Regardless this quest is one of the very fortunate ones where it has both a fairly large playerbase and anons are actually discussing among themselves about the quest and possible plans.
>>
>>3558901

If it leaves your body, if it is no longer a part of you, you don't control it. Until you get some telepathy going. Once you have the ability to link your mind to things outside of your body via telepathy then there's going to be a lot more options opened up.

For right now, if it ain't part of you, ain't connected to your nervous system, then no control.

Connecting your nervous system to others, while crude and primitive, is a method that can be used until you get something better.

>>3558912

We are very fortunate to have this level of participation and discussion, and I hope it will continue. I always enjoy reading what all of you are speculating about and debating over. I confess I worry I may be cutting things off at the knees with this expose, because there will be less reason to discuss when things are known. I can only hope we will still get good discussion and speculation, perhaps on things that are more immediately possible.
>>
>>3558901
This is DC, but given that in this quest we tend to explain how our powers work (scientifically, or at least DC kind of science), I would say we could use contact at first (touch someone, scan and map their organism with vivrations, daredevil like sonar or something, then get control over their cells via eclectric impulses/electromagnetic fields/low level psy powers like "mind" control or really short ranged and precise telekinesis/chemicals or even a weird mixture of some of this methods) and when we have enough dice pools we could use ranged fleshcrafting.
>>
Alright, I gotta go for a bit. Hopefully I won't be gone too long. I'll call the vote when I get back.

Holy shit, I'm a bad person for laughing at this?:
> Coldsnap is a mercenary who was also a member of a super-villain group called the Masters of Disaster. He was romantically linked to Heatstroke, but due to the opposing nature of their powers, could never be physically intimate with her.
We are probably one of the few people in the world that could help (in the distant future) Snowball and his girlfriend with their little problem. We could amplify their control of their powers with genetic manipulation, avoiding a tornado to form each time they try to fuck (Lol, just imagine the scene)

Also it's just fucking hilarious that Daryll pretty much picked on the one person who could and would help him if he wasn't such a dick for no reason.
What a retard.
Man we're fucked if our potential is revealed before we're strong enough to actually escape. We're the sort of metahuman that a war could start over.

Though yeah it seems like we really can become the worlds's greatest doctor and cure basically anything short of death on the battlefield, So if we did want to join the League when we get stronger we probably would get accepted in a heartbeat.
Especially if we hide our age, which is also pretty easy.

That a challenge chum? Obviously if we ain't there we can't do shit, but with enough knowledge of the human body and mastery of our powers then if we are close and act fast enough then hell, we can fucking get someone back into shape from anything save being turned to mush, incinerated to a crisp or otherwise have their brain destroyed (I say this because while we might be able to resurrect someone who's brain was previously ruined, the loss of memory and experiences we can't do shit about, so for all intents and purposes that person is dead)

>Isolate the wounds, plug leaks, keep blood flowing, reroute major veins, pump oxygen directly into the blood stream, etc.
>Bonus body horror alternative: directly conjoin the body to ours temporarily so that we can get to work fixing them while our body acts as life support.
>Reconstruct bones, transplant organs directly without being exposed to the environment, regenerate damaged tissue.
>Manipulate their brain into producing chemicals conductive to keeping the body alive.
>Graft possible missing limbs back onto the body, expunge debris, good as new, or if we have the time, induce the body into growing new limbs.
You don't joke about biokinesis, ol' bean.

>>
>>3559121
Right so we are literally one of the most desirable Metahuman on the planet for a villain to want to control.
We really need to keep our powers under wraps huh?
Total Healing, limited resurrection powers, the ability to alter others, the eventual abiltiy to mess with DNA and to mess with Meta Genes and alien DNA.
The ability to change others is the thing that villains will want the most because to them that means "superhuman army" even if they don't have meta-genes we can enhance strength and all that shit.
Oh right, and we can make you live forever with our power too as well as cure probably any disease or affliction.
>>3559131
Why be a just a pillar man when you could become the Ultimate Lifeform? Kars would kill you for such a sentiment.
>>
>>3559094
I think the best way to escalate to full DR Doom (way of speaking) and Magneto (liberation but without being a terrorist) is create an asociation/company to defend Metahuman (specially monstrous ones) rights and give them a chance to do something else than go villain, hide or get rejected by society. We could even help those with harmful or grotesque mutations, like a super plastic surgeon. When the traffickers, corrupt agents of the government, villains, etc destroy our dream to keep the Metaslave market going, we go full Punisher/Magneto/DR Doom upon those assholes and seek a country to stablish our Metahuman, Human (and anything sentient and peaceful that wants to join) society. Let's turn Mercer into some sort of protector of Eden, being the nicest philantropist and hero ever until someone fucks with his people, then he goes full nightmare. We could fund all of this by creating our own company and selling biostuff at a modicum prize (imagine how good and weird would be our public image: Yes, he's so polite and noble and generous, he brutalized and ate a supervillain that attacked the diplomats, but that guy wanted to cause a war and was warned to leave so...
>>
>>3558919
Nerve tap it is then...goddamn that shit that is going to be pure misery to perfect. For both ourselves and unfortunate guinea pig. Was hoping to avoid that, looks like one of our friends is going to suffer an awful lot in order for us to figure out how to remove the device from them all. In exchange, though we can offer them some snazzy biotech upgrades. They are REALLY going to deserve it after all this...

>>3559080
Death isn't impossible if the body hasn't rotted(so our power will still work) and there isn't extensive brain damage. After all, we can't replace lost memories and experiences even if we can make new brain tissue.

As for getting involved with the league...that is something we REALLY need to avoid. Helping them out is okay on occasion is one thing but keep in mind their strong bias against appearances and disturbing powers. There is a reason why all those like that turn towards villainry instead of heroism.

Honestly though keep in mind we can literally create different bodies down towards the cellular level. Our disguise ability is unbeatable and its only flaw is psionics who can look into our mind. So rather than reveal ourselves for what we truly are(ever hungry body horror abomination with fucking biokinesis powers). Our best bet is to create different personas with their own 'gifts' and morphed appearances. A miracle doctor is an entirely possible persona to adopt but for the love of god...make sure nobody knows that all those personas are actually the same fucking guy made of nightmare fuel.

So I would suggest anons to stop thinking in terms of WHO we should become but rather on what our different PERSONAS can become. There is 0 reason to reveal ourselves personally when we can create a near perfect disguised persona that we can literally adopt at will and create new ones whenever we want. So why not have a miracle doctor persona? Why not a supervillain persona? Why not an antihero persona? We can literally be all those things and unless someone mindrapes us to find out that they are in fact all the same person...no one will ever know the truth.

We can create a supervillain persona and infiltrate them from the inside. We can do the same as a hero and join the league. All of that is easily within our means in the not so distant future. So why not stop bickering over it and create Persona to go with those plans? We can have however many personas as we damn well want. It's really not a problem. The only tricky part, plans in which to use said personas.
>>
>>3559193
>Magneto (liberation but without being a terrorist)
Is Magneto NOT a terrorist? He goes around destroying shit, causing mayhem, and ranting about the next evolutionary step in man and how homosapiens are inferiors who should bend to their masters and future rulers of the world etc. How does that not make him a terrorist?

Botox.

>>3559222
Something something poorly written holocaust backstory that's never ever going to change even when Magneto has to be like 90 years old to justify it.
Also the story writes itself in corners sometimes to make Magneto innocent of the worst shit so sometimes it's just a convenient imposter that happens to have all his powers.
>>3559209
People don't really care what you look like on the inside as long as you aren't a monster in front of the cameras. I'm not so sure on the catalogue of identities idea myself. Maybe if it goes to real shit and we need to hide but that does kind of leave our friends up shit creek.
>>
>>3559256
Think of it this way catalogue of identities=anons stop fighting over what path/plan/appearance we should take. Since then all they gotta do is create a nifty new persona to go along with it and just add it onto the catalogue. That is actually the main reason why I support it. As it would massively reduce anons fighting among themselves.

The whole usefulness of in terms of disguising and following through different plans while most important is actually secondary to me. As for our friends they'll be among the only people in the world who can easily figure out the truth if we don't tell them. Plus they'll easily be able to get ahold of us due to knowing that truth. So we won't really be leaving them up shit creak since if they get into deep shit. They can easily just have us whip them up a new identity and upgrade them with biotech mods to make them stronger.
>>
>>3559298
Maybe.
I just don't know if it's a fantastic idea.
Like, we heard from Larson that Shapeshifters can fuck themselves up with taking different identities and lose sight of who they really are.
Also we'd need a persona with all of our powers anyway in order to fight against the big threats so it kind of renders the idea moot. Then there's the amount of people who would be able to see through our disguises via psionics, research or by being Batman.
It just leads to an awkward situation when somebody leaks out that 20 well known heroes/villains/vigilantes/mercenaries are actually the same fucking guy.
>>
>>3559298
No, that sounds like a terrbile idea. Spending time developing what would basically be new characters is going to slow our progress to a halt and satisfy none. Might as well go make your own quest. New personas should be made as tools for our goals, once we decide on them. There's always gonna be anons who wont like the direction a quest goes and there's nothing we can do about that.

Also it doesn't stop infighting at all.
In fact it's just going to increase infighting because then you've just got a bunch of anons fighting over a character select screen.
Hell there hasn't even been that much infighting apart from the moralfag/edgefag stuff and that shit won't be resolved by multiple personas, obviously.
>>
And having a persona that eats people still means we eat people. Lets just stick with improving our powers, helping our friends, and planning a breakout before we 'graduate'.
>>
Seriously tho.
Pearls and Botox.
Easy money.
Also you only need a nanogram of botulinum to kill somebody.
Of course that means actually getting to a point where we can synthesize it safely though.
I do like Synthesis as a hero name
Ouroborous is a good Anti-Hero or revolutionary name
Biohazard as a villain name?
Hopefully we don't casually drift through the alignment chart like say, Hank Pym does, god Marvel is inconsistent.
>>3559416
Exactly
>>
>>3559440
We don't know what we exactly want to be yet and how powerful we are. We should wait till then. Also giving ourselves our own nickname is lame. I'd rather have the court of public opinion pick a name for us. Unless we end up as the Blob. Then we choose.
>>
>"Iv'e built a bridge, but do they call me a bridge builder? No. I've brought metahumans together into a sovereign nation, but do they call me a king? No. But if you eat just one army and convert their biomass into a horrifying meat dragon..."
>>
>>3558897
I'm glad to hear we won't be going full biokinetic god any time soon. I like a bit of challenge and struggle to a quest, having to painstakingly grow and come to terms with our abilities.

>>3559440
>Also you only need a nanogram of botulinum to kill somebody.
Yeah, but it takes 24-72 h to take effect. Not something that'll help us in a fight.
>>
>>3559644
Great for covert kills though. Dose somebody and be long gone before they kick the bucket.
>>
>>3559440
Cape names:
>Fat Joe (vs Slim Jim)
>Adonis (big guy form)
>Skinwalker
>>
>>3559656
That was my first though but even that doesn't work that well.
The toxin causes a gradual onset paralysis with respiratory muscles among the last to be affected. Any victim is likely to present to hospital well before their life is threatened. Doctors will have plenty of time to administer antitoxin and intubate the victim. Once intubated chance of death is extremely unlikely (although the victim woould be out of action for the days or weeks it takes his neurons to recover).
>>
>>3558874
When we first got Big Guy form we voted on how big he should be, and unfortunately we chose too smol in my opinion. If we were to grow it, would we have to start over from the beginning?
>>3559440
I like biohazard as an anti hero of even hero name. We can be edgy.
>>
>>3559696
Hm, not terribly useful then. Could be viable if we’re careful with the timing, and make sure that the more obvious effects don’t hit them before they go to bed or whatever, or when we know they’ll be in an isolated situation I suppose, but that would probably be iffy, assuming the effects don’t take place over time like clockwork for every victim.
>>
>>3559849
Then we should use it as a defensive measure or give people huge overdoses.
>>
Sorry to say I shan't be updating tonight.

Why don't we use the most effective venoms and toxins in nature instead of wasting substances that are both expensive and difficult to make:
>Golden poison dart frogs are most dangerous among the family. One golden poison dart frog contain enough venom to kill up to 10 adult men. These frogs gain their potent venom by eating a special types of arthropod insects (and thata only the most venomous vertebrate, invertebrates are even worst).
We should stop talking about superpoisons and making pearls and focus on studying and practicing to improve our power dice, also easy combat tricks (Prototype game attacks are pretty cool and "realistic" we can use those for the moment [and the aesthetics, oh man the aesthetics...]) and forms we can obtain now. We should really eat some insects (ants, flies, mosquitoes, milipedes and the king of bullshit endurance: roaches are common enough to be here) when no one is looking. Also fish and hunt if we are allowed (tell HIVE we want to test our power to see if biomass from living things is better than frozen meat and normal food or wait until you have an out doors exercise to eat something, then diffuse by saying: "What, I'm hungry").
>>
>>3559973
I also vote using our combat tricks and simple forms to fish, that way we get biomass faster and train our powers at the same time.
>>
Can't wait to actually get enough control of our powers for the escape for us and our group and reveal that "actually I've been bullshit the entire time, Let me just remove your chips with my BIOKINESIS."
Also Cait might be somewhat safe to discuss escape plans with due to her latent psychic ability making her a pain for Wax.
>>
>>3559973
Even roaches and flies seem a little premature at this stage.
Right now we should just focus on getting more comfortable with our combat form.
>Make him a little bigger
>Lengthen his arms for improved reach
>Grow some big old claws and fangs
>Thick fur to resist the cold
>Toughened skin and strengthened bone
>A prehensile tail for grappling and climbing
We can do all this without eating anything - remember we don't NEED to eat something to gain the pattern, we just need enough knowledge and imagination like how we developed octupus suckers just by knowing the details of how to shift our flesh into that shape.
>>
>>3560072
Our power works basically by experimenting with our body and eating things, the more we eat, the stronger we get. Consuming animals will give us something useful for sure, so stop saying we don't need to eat stuff because "we don't need it", you guys are blocking like half our power progression and mechanics. If you want Beast Boy pulling forms for free through is connection to The Red you are in the wrong quest, Mercer needs four things to transform: Biomass, knowledge of how to build and use something and practice, and we'll get two just by eating animals.
>>
>>3560108
It might also be a good idea to eat loose hairs of as many people as possible. Assuming we can mix and match DNA, it's probably a good way to disguise ourselves once we've escaped.
>>
>>3560112
DNA manipulation comes much later
Metagene and Alien DNA manipulation comes even later than that.
>>
>>3560118
I thought we could still 'learn' the DNA even if we can't currently make use of it until later, is that incorrect? I've probably missed some QM clarifications.
>>
>>3560120
I think we only learn how to do things we directly eat right now. I'm not sure though.
>>
>>3560122
Things we eat or things we think about as long as we pass the roll.
>>
>>3560122
Things we eat and what we already understand. We created octopus limbs because we already knew how it works despite having never eaten an octopus before. Which means research is VERY important to boosting our powers. We can even create stuff that doesn't exist naturally in nature just by understanding how it works. So organic mechanical parts are entirely possible. So think organic piston hammer arms to improve how powerful our punches can be.
>>
>>3560108
And what I'm saying is that at this point we'll likely get more yield out of experimenting with our body or hell, just sitting down with biology textbook, than dreaming up elaborate schemes to be allowed to go fishing. All the mutations we've pulled off so far have been through our own knowledge of physiology or the guidance of AVM man - we got some amount of knowledge through eating the cow steaks but we've yet to find out how significant that is.

And the biomass argument is weak - unless we can arbitrarily keep increasing our own density indefinitely we'll hit a hard cap on stored biomass soon enough. Until then there is all the biomass we need sitting in the canteen.
>>
>>3560142
Yeah, he has a point about the mass thing.

We can only get so dense before people start getting suspicious.

Though to be fair HIVE knows about our inability to conjure mass out of thin air like beastboy can. But they’re probably gonna limit out weight to 500ish pounds for safety reasons.
>>
>>3560159
How dense do you think we can get before it starts to become obvious to others? They don’t seem to be doing medical checkups (Not yet, at least) or anything, so if we’re lucky as long as we’re able condense it so it’s not obvious on our frame we might be able to pack on a lot of mass. Mind you, we’ll need to make sure we don’t become so heavy we start destroying chairs or something.
>>
>>3560235
I mean it’s pretty easy to tell if someone is heavy just by the way they move. The way the floor vibrates when the walk etc. And that’s just for normal people.
>>
>>3560235
>>3560238
We could create pockets filled with gas lighter than air to counter that. But it also can help only so far. We could walk around in our bigger form all the time. So weithing around 300 kg would be in realm of posibility.
>>
Benis.
>>
>>3560247
300 kg? Probably not. I’d put our maximum unnoticeable weight at 400lb(180 kg) max. Beyond that, we’d need specially reinforced chairs to hold our weight, cause wooden chair would snap. We already most likely weigh 220lb (100kg) just carrying 7feet of weight around all day, leaving just 80 kg biomass left before they start noticing. The other poster is right, there’s a pretty hard limit on max biomass and we don’t have that far to go before we hit it.

And when they figure out our “shapeshifting” is actually biomanipulation, whoo boy, this whole games is gonna change.
>>
>>3561058
We really don't want them to figure out our real power.
That turns us from "below average shapeshifter" to "walking game changing superweapon" in their eyes.

We really need to get out with our gang.
Honestly I'd like us to start by trying to have a superhero team but turning into revolutionaries when we see how bad the Metahuman situation is getting.
I would like to go around being a miracle doctor and regenerating peoples limbs or curing blindness too.
>>
Alright for real is there gonna be an update tonight?
>>
>>3561234
Just have a little patience
>>
>>3561058
Honestly we should just using and burning mass to practice our powers in our room once we reach near the point where it becomes noticeable. If it's going to eventually be a liability anyway then we might as well use our free time to experiment outside of Larson's lessons
>>
>>3561234

Yes there will be. I'll be home in just a bit, and I've set aside the evening, so you'll have my undivided attention for 4 hours or so and hopefully we can get through a few decisions.

I'm sorry for the long delays.
>>
>>3557497

You nod and murmur “Thank you” to Larson as you step inside and he closes the door behind you. Knowing that the person responsible has been dealt with does make you feel a bit better, and you’re sure that it will make your friends feel better as well. You move to stand by the others next to Caitlin’s bedside and clear your throat softly to get their attention.

“I’ve got news” You tell them quietly. The atmosphere in the room seems to demand reverence. “The teacher who did this is no longer on the staff, Larson says he’s been punished. We won’t be seeing him again.”

“This is good news” Says Tara softly “It is good Caitlin will not have to see him again.”

“Probably just a slap on the wrist” Liz mutters angrily

“No” You reply. “Larson told me it was pretty severe, and I believe him.”

“Good” Says Roxy “I hope he suffered.”

“Don’t change anything if he did” Says Ralph “Lets just be glad he’s gone, and that Cait’s going to be okay.”

You all fall silent then for a moment, the only sound the steady beeping of the machines and quiet breathing. Everyone seems content to take some time for silent contemplation. In your case, your thoughts turn to your escape plans. Seeing your friend lying there still and unmoving hammers it home. You aren’t safe here. Your life, and your friends lives, are in the hands of others and can be threatened or ended at a whim.

They’ll try to play this off as an isolated incident to keep the students pliable. The headmistress punishing the teacher in question even gives credence to the idea that events like this are not supposed to occur, but nevertheless it did happen. It could happen again. And ultimately in the event that you reach graduation you and your friends could conceivably spend the rest of your lives being compelled to do horrible things by unscrupulous people under threat of violence. That is assuming you weren’t willing participants after they finished raping your minds.

>>3561475

You’d been aware of course, but this makes it much more real real. You need to get out of here. Preferably with your friends. Just escaping won’t be enough either, you’ll need to stay free once you’ve escaped and you have no illusions as to what will happen when you do. You’ll be hunted for sure. You’re to valuable for them to just accept the loss without trying to recover you. You need to get stronger, get more control over your power. Become powerful enough to escape and then stay free. But that will take time, and practice. But when, your schedule is already so full. You need more time

There is something you could do, a crazy Idea. You need more time, perhaps you can make it by burning the candle at both ends. Intellectually you understand that loosing sleep is a horrible idea. It can cause serious health problems in the long term, and negatively impacts both judgment and mental and physical performance in the short term. Just trying to stay up later, loosing sleep practicing, that wouldn’t be a practical way to buy yourself more time. Human’s need their sleep, teenagers even more so.

But you aren’t exactly a normal human anymore are you? You’re a meta-human now. Normal people don’t force their tissues to knit back together and reset their bones by willing their muscles to pop them back into place after being thrown around like a rag doll by a giant. Normal humans don’t grow and shrink at will. Biologically speaking sleep fulfills several functions. You might be able to replicate the same effects with your powers. Lack of sleep also causes several harmful biological processes, but you might be able to inhibit those as well.

It might not be perfect, but perhaps you can squeeze out an extra few hours a night. Maybe not every night, but still every little bit helps right? It’s a risk. If they notice they might ask questions, or if you aren’t able to compensate with your powers like you are hoping you might run yourself into the ground, but the only way to find out would be to try.
>>
>>3561490

“Did your teacher tell you when she’d be up?” Roxy asks you, snapping you out of your thoughts.

“No, no he didn’t” You tell her.

“Hopefully it won’t be long” Ralph murmurs softly “He said she’d be awake if they weren’t keeping her under, means it can’t be long right?”

“Probably” Says Liz.

There’s another period of silence, and then there’s a soft knocking at the door. It opens and Larson pokes his head in.

“I’m sorry for disturbing you” He says “But I’m afraid the Headmistress is asking me to bring you back down to the common area.”

He opens the door and gestures for you all to head out. Liz and Roxy head out first, followed by you and Ralph, with Tara bringing up the rear. As she passes the large blonde man the smaller blonde girl stops and latches on to his waist, hugging him.

“Thank you for bringing us” She tells him with a small watery smile.

He stands there stunned for a moment before his lips quirk up in a small grin and he pats her on the head. “No trouble Kid, come on.”

He waits for her to let go and then closes the door and leads you all down to the common room. He nods to you, and then heads back up the stairs leaving you with your friends.

“I think I’m going to turn in early” says Ralph.

“Good idea” says Liz “I’m bushed.”

Roxy and Tara murmur soft assent and your friends head to their rooms. With all of them leaving there isn’t really much point in hanging around the common room yourself, so you head to your room as well, thinking about your idea.

Will you

Are you posting again tonight.
>>
>>3561863

Yes. I'm working on it. My apologies for the delay. I write pretty slow sometimes to be honest.Depends on if an Idea sparks and comes out willingly or if I have to drag it out, sadly today my muse is being less than cooperative. Doesn't help I second guess myself a lot. There will be one more tonight before I sign off. It's the weekend, I can stay up a bit longer, but just the one. We'll have more tomorrow.
>>
>>3561868
Think about what you did at night as a kid when you tried to fake being asleep and how thoughts just wander becoming this mass(could be thoughts on how all these animals do it, possibly watch a animal doc) and how in the dark you stare out into the darkness to see. You can see but too only see things that are not there like the dark is crawling becoming horrors in this unseen world until your eyes get used to it and you can half see what hides in the dark, the shapes, the darkness like static becomes a world of shapes and vague colors you are never sure of what color is what color but your mind still makes you see what is not there in the corner of your eyes, every creak and groan a scream in the dark.

(Excuse my bed time thoughts)
>>
>>3561868
It's cool.
>>
>>3561868
I wonder if we’re just going to increase the possible size of our pupil, that should work as a stopgap for true Night Vision, we could also turn our eyes blue ( lighter coloured eyes have better night vision)
>>
>>3561977
Easiest methods are
>Increase the physical size of our eyes
>Form a tapetum lucidum behind the retina - essentially just a mirrored layer that bounces the light back through the nerves a second time for twice the effect
>Strip the pigment from our cones - cones are responsible for detailed vision and colour vision but the blocking pigments responsible for colour vision reduces their sensitivity. By bleaching the cones we'll trade our colour vision (which doesn't really work in the dark anyway) for a better night vision
>>
>>3561977
>>3562101
Is there a way we could do it without compromising color vision or making our eyes sensitive to sunlight?
>>
>>3562192
Not really but we can have two pair of eyes
>>
>>3562250
>only two pairs
>not becoming an eldritch monstrosity formed purely of eyes, tentacles, and slavering, screeching mouths
Amateur.
>>
>>3562192
It’s plausible but would require some structural changes. The more precise your senses, the more delicate and vulnerable to overload the organ becomes. Our best bet would be turn our eyes to slits like cats do in the daytime and add a third, polarized eyelid to act like sunglasses.

>>3562101
I would also add simply flipping our retina to the list. Human retinas(and all vertebrate retinas actually) are actually backwards. Light has to filter through the retina, bounce off the back of the eye, and come back in order to be sensed by the eye. It’s an evolutionary fossil that severely limits how well animals can see in the dark, because a lot of light gets absorbed by the eyes network of blood vessels and veins. However, invertebrates like squids don’t have this issue, and this can see extremely well, even deep under the ocean. If we simply reorganized our retinal layers, we could see far better in night and day, and free up some brainpower besides(the brains visual cortex filters out the blood vessels and edits what you see into a seamless picture).

I'm glad you guys took night vision, we can't really practice certain tricks if we can't see whe the lights are off.
About the "Hive noticing we suddenly weight a ton, can shrug off attacks that would kill a normal human/low lvl Meta and don't need to
sleep nor rest" issue, we could make them think our body slowly adapts to ease our survival/ life in general and requires biomass to do so (no Doomsday tier, something more like slowly achieving human peak, maybe surpass it slightly).
We could also spend nights creating mental schematics for our tricks and forms, making internal changes like improving our digestive system (mouth and esophagus included) even more, etc. The "mental blueprints" (pic rerlated) could act as a roll bonus, for example, if we spend 6-8 hours planing the process and doing small tests (small enough to go unnoticed by any cameras, sensors, etc HIVE could have in our room), we get a +x bonus when we roll to get to said trick/form/upgrade.
Also, we should study a few hours before going to "sleep", seeing how many regenerators have also enhanced endurance and stamina, we could need less sleep than a normal person.

Hey, has OP talked about Joseph's family? because given that we are based in Alex Mercer and he only has a sister, our mother could be Elizabeth Greene, think about it.
>We escape HIVE, beating/eating (depending on the edge) anyone they throw in our path.
>They discover we are a biokinetic.
>They inmdiately go after our family to see if it's genetic (like Tara and her family, in which every member has powers related to earth manipulation), and capture mom.
>HIVE takes her to a secret underground/submarine base in the Antarctica (John Carpenter would be proud), put her through the Tar process (her powers could be biokinesis but different to our own: we can massively improve our own organism with biomass and eventually we'll be able to affect others and get psy powers. She could start with the opposite powerset: Bioweapon generation, on contact/limited range biokinesis, hivemind with those infected by her plagues, telepathy, but only peak human physiology, supersoldier physiology in mid levels, and limited shapeshifting, always keeping a human form) and makes Psimon or (insert powerful psion here) try to brainwash her into the perfect war machine.

QM usually posts in an hour or two from now.
I don't really want to get Batman's attention by actually commiting crimes.

Also I realised when we've got plant shifting powers Poison Ivy won't hate us by default for being a human.
Additionally we'll basically be immune to all of her poison/pheromone abilities.

Why do people keep asking if QMs dead?! This is, without a doubt, the most active and responsive QM I’ve seen on this board. Is this you guyses first quest? I’ve seen QM teams(not individuals, teams) not update for days without people asking if they were gone. QM is not going to disappear, QM is not dead, QM is not going to die, and if he ever did, he would probably resurrect himself just to give one last status update about the afterlife’s shitty internet quality. Understand? So, for the love of god stop asking.

>>

>don't take moralfag as an insult, at least not in qst
It's not that, it's because of
>writing a joke post like an 11 year old autist

>I think I have a point
Regrettably, you do. People tend to have powers similar to their siblings (Tara has geokinesis, Brion makes lava, DeLamb can transform into a rocky form) so our family might have the potential to gain similar powers of varying levels of lolbroken.
>>
>>3563778
They'd hunt down our family to use as leverage to get us, either to get us to come back or punish us.

We got our powers awakened via magic goo. There's no evidence that such goo works via bloodlines. And considering the failed test subjects died, our family would be more useful to them alive, to serve as a sword of damocles to keep Joe in line.
>>
>>3563882
The Tar didn't give us our power, it merely unlocked it.
Metagenes are a genetic thing, after all. Metahumans who are related tend to have similar abilities.

>>3563778
The moment we escape they'll be using our family as bait. We literally cannot approach them because that is EXACTLY what they want. Our family is insurance and bait to use against us. We ourselves cannot rescue them since that is exactly what they are hoping for...but that doesn't mean we cannot get someone else to do it in our stead. After all they'll only be expecting us but not whoever goes instead.

It is admittedly a pain in the ass but there is nothing we(personally) can do about it.

As for exposing our family to goo...that depends solely on how big our family is. I wouldn't put it past them to sacrifice a few to magic goo to see if it's genetic given how stupidly valuable biokinesis is. They won't kill or experiment on all of them though simply because they do need some alive for blackmail/baiting purposes.

I also doubt they will outright kidnap them simply because doing so will tip us off completely and by making it seem 'normal' our guard might be lowered enough to walk right into the trap. Overall better just to set up around them and wait for us to walk right into it.

>>3563804
>>3563889
Oh shit better pray our family is tiny then. Fuck they'll have a field day if we come from a big family. Plenty to spare for experimenting and blackmail.

>He was running fucking daily, most QMs really shouldn't do that.
I was under the impression he did it on and off. Not like sitting his ass down for long hours at a time to run a proper session (The amount of hours required to run and write is just impossible to keep up with daily unless you are a Kazuma Kamachi tier madman with no life) just post up an update, go about his day, come back and read the votes in time for another update before hanging around or going to bed, rinse and repeat.
The way I see it he either

>Got the bad case of QM curse.
Hopefully not, that usually entails some bad IRL shit.
>Got up to some mischief elsewhere on the site and got b&.
Speaking from experience: spending so much time on certain boards, you forget your usual (sfw) posting you find tame might get you a ban on another board you haven't been on in a while, where mods crack down harder.
>Got fucked by his ISP's incompetence.
Happened to me once: was minding my own when suddenly my service got suspended and it took two weeks to sort that shit out. I effectively ghosted for that period because I use an older phone and couldn't phonepost even if I wanted.
>Got burned out/realized running quests isn't actually his thing so he ghosted so he doesn't have to break it to the big following he's gotten in such a short time.
He himself admitted he writes mostly on inspiration, if that's gone then he's kinda screwed, it stops being fun and starts being a chore. The actual feelings and commitment of running a quest might have finally gotten to him. A lot of people sometimes are infatuated with the idea of running their own quest but don't realize that they don't really want to run one, they just want to write fanfiction without the stigma associated with fanfiction.

I want to think the last one's unlikely, given QMs words on the matter of flaking.
Time will tell, it's just been 3 days. Keep calm and carry on, do your job, play some vidya, read some comics, watch some shit, etc, if he's gone, he's gone, if he isn't, he'll return.
>>
>>3568975
Basically this, the only thing I'm worried about is this ending like Wendigo (worm) or Worm Quest Redux, both cape quests were the QM dissapeared without a warning or explanation. Those two really made me angry, if they burned, run out of inspiration or couldn't run anymore I can't blame them, but the least a QM can do is post an apologize so anons know the quest is over (and given how popular those two stories were, there was a high chance of another QM picking the mantle).

Ok, I owe you all a huge apology. I swore I would be in contact. Obviously I broke that promise, and I'm sorry. Looks like I'm a bit of a flake after all. I'm not going to give you excuses, I'm not going to spin some sob story. I'm going to be perfectly honest with you all. Nothing bad happened to me, I'm just an idiot.

I made a series of horrible decisions this weekend, the least of which was not staying in touch with you all. Said decisions culminated in me taking yesterday off and spending most of the day in bed recuperating. Seriously, I didn't wake up until like 6 in the evening. I was subsequently very busy today, but that is no excuse. I should have dropped a line like I said I would, and I'm sorry I didn't.

I'm back, and if you all are willing to forgive me, the quest will continue. Got my usual Tuesday evening appointment I need to go to here in a minute, but when I get back we'll have an update.

So yeah. No burnout, no QM curse, no bans or internet troubles, just me being a dumb ass and fucking myself up. I do that on occasion.

About the quest and Mercer's development, I've been reading the previous threads and it seems the main source of conflict are:
>Arguments about interactions with antagonists like Snowball.
>Eating/not eating animals (and persons, which I only support in extreme situations or agains irredeemable enemies).
>Looking inhuman in our forms.
In my opinion, we should wait until we advance further into the story to make permanent moral decisions, maybe we'll join the Young JL and spend our time curing people with cancer and other mortal illneses, maybe we'll have to rip the joker's head off to save a bus full of children, we'll see as we play.
As much as I want to beat Coldsnap until he cries, we should avoid getting revenge and take the "only defend and protect" path. We are more powerful but his group has the numbers, if we make everyone see snowball as the absolute idiot he is, they will stop supporting him (like with the fatherbox incident). When he is left alone as a consequence of his own choices, he'll learn how bad irrational hatred is (or will try to murder us, he seems like that kind of retard).
About shapeshifting, I only care about the form being optimal for the task we create it: A social form having a 11/10 hot bod and facial features chiseled by the gods, an intimidation form so horrid it gives nightmares to Parallax, etc. I refuse to make a form more edgy or more family-friendly if it doesn't provide any benefit to our character. That said, we should keep in mind that long term benefit tends to be better than short term rewards (but right now, we need to improve our powers in 7 months what would normally take a few years of training, so I'm open to suggestions).
>>
>>3570161
Idk why so many Anons want to look super edgy and inhuman considering there's really no need for it.
I wonder how long it would take for a guy going around healing terminal illnesses and regenerating people's limbs to get attention from heroes and villains.
>>
>>3570219
If we use Panacea from the Worm series as an example, like 5 minutes.
>>
>>3570219
>Idk why so many Anons want to look super edgy and inhuman considering there's really no need for it.
Probably a toss up between anons who are taking the Alex Mercer thing way too far and anons who find irony in being a hero that looks like such an evil dude.
I'm fine with anything as long as it looks cool, so I'm not a fan of writhing mass of limbs and whatnot, but am fine with stuff like Mercer's armor or even something like pic. If it looks humanoid and sleek, edgy or not, I'm fine with it.
>>
>>3570242
So we should probably hold off on being some miracle man and emptying hospitals of patients then?
>>
>>3569933
Monitor, you gotta stop apologizing, seriously. Real life happens, and it should take precedent over internet things. Most QMs post maybe once or twice a week, on that scale your hiatus doesn't even register. Don't worry about it.

Honestly though, you should consider pacing yourself a bit. Often a creative activity like quest running can put a lot of stress on authors that they might not even realize is there or what the true source is. If you feel like ordinary things have gotten more stressful over the past week or so, there's a possibility that the culprit is actually this quest spilling over, cutting into your time and mental real estate for other tasks. Choosing a consistent schedule can help with that. Consider taking weekends off of quest running as time to decompress. Just a suggestion.
>>
>>3569933
Ah, good, you came back. It's no big deal, it's only been a couple of days after all, no need for apologies. Just glad you didn't get hit by a car or have a heart attack or something.

>A social form having a 11/10 hot bod
Good one, we should talk to Larson about practicing this. For social infiltration of course, definitely not to seduce girls.
>>3570264
>anons who find irony in being a hero that looks like such an evil dude
That's me. You just don't see it often enough, heroes and even anti heroes are always so pretty. I also don't want writhing tentacle shit but I want it to be scary and unpleasant.
>>
>>3570703
Yeah I wouldn't mind looking like Mercer, fashion wise.
Though honestly we can have any clothing we want.
And yeah, when we go full mega death claws mode I don't expect to look pretty.
>>
With enough practice we could probably emit poison gas and give the anti-venom for it to our team.
An easy way to take out most human opponents.
>>
I've been looking for shapeshifting ideas we can use without Hive going nuts and I realized we are way behind most shapeshifters in terms of number of forms and time needed to change, key aspects of this power (overwelm your enemy with quick changes between multiple forms). I know changing forms is not our only ability and Mercer got his powers a few days ago, but seriously, look at this shit and tell me we don't need GAINZ:

>See whoever is left in a few hours.
Hope there's an update tonight or tomorrow.
>>
>>3571432
Going to that extreme would be pointless, and isn’t our forte anyways. Whereas Beastboy could do that sort of thing more or less intuitively, we’d likely need to comprehensively research a form, likely taking in dna and the like to learn how to produce things like fur, scales or feathers, carefully learn how to transform into it without like, killing ourself, and then put further practice into doing it quickly. And then do that many, many times. We’d be better served just learning how to somewhat malleably shift our normal humanoid form. The effect would be much the same, but require significantly less effort and training. Why spend like, a week focusing on learning to quickly turn into a snake when we could just learn how to compress our size a bit and increase our body’s flexibility in a pinch, which would in all likelihood take much less time and have the same effect? We COULD probably do most of what Beastboy does, certainly, but it would just be forcing a square peg into a round hole, and an unnecessary waste of training time we could out into much more useful aspects of our abilities besides.
>>
>>3572217
Not to mention, even if we could somewhat imitate his ability to change forms, we could never completely do so, since he basically just spits in the faces of the laws of mass and physics and we...well, we sort of do the same, but not nearly as much as he does, at least in that regard. We can’t just shrink down to fly size, or grow to the size of a whale.

The Qm curse is apparently an adaptive one assuming it is real. I honestly kind of want something to attribute tonight's event's to, because I don't want to accept that they actually happened, and the qm curse makes as much sense as anything else.

No car wreck, but I did just have the largest fight I've ever had with a good friend over something incredibly stupid and inane. Honestly I think it's the first fight I've had with this guy since we were teenagers. At this point now that my bloods not up anymore I'm kind of baffled. We nearly came to blows while arguing over the proper use of a fucking word. How the fuck does that even happen?

Went from zero to a hundred in no time flat. I thought we were just having a friendly debate and all of a sudden he invades my space and squares off with me. That juvenile get right up in front of them and start shoving thing that always happened back in middle school. I was half convinced he was going to take a swing at me over an asinine discussion about whether or not he was using a word colloquially.

At the time I was pissed, now I'm just kind of stuck in a loop of what the fuck just happened. Suffice to say my regular Wednesday get together with friends, it did not go as planned. The plan did not involve a near confrontation in the parking lot, scaring the shit out of our other friends, or getting back this late. I'm kinda done with today. I need to sleep and hope the world makes sense tomorrow. I don't even know what the fuck to do about this, because apparently I seem to have given him a mortal insult without meaning to, and I don't know what the fuck to do. It's just fucking stupid.

I mean I'm pretty sure I know why he blew up, wasn't really about what we were discussing, but I didn't fucking mean to set him off, and I don't know if or how to fucking apologize for his skin being thinner than I thought it was.

Take some time, QM. Shit happens.
>>
>>3572377
What was the word though?
>>
>>3572377
What if your friend was right tho?
But yes it does sound like some pent up frustration
>>
>>3572543
Right or wrong you have to be stupid to attempt to escalate to violence over a definition.
Especially when Google exists.
>>
>>3572377
>I’m sorry you’re a thin-skinned little bitch

There, problem solved. Jokes aside, I’d just leave him alone for a bit, let him cool off. He’s probably feeling about the same as you are about it. Talk to him again in a few days. Don’t broach the actual original discussion topic, but make sure you guys are cool again. I doubt he’ll still be angry about it, if the topic was as inconsequential as you make it out to be. He’ll probably be embarrassed, more likely then not, unless he’s the particularly stubborn sort.

My brother and I threw hands in the kitchen one time because he didn't like my use/the definition of variant.

Well in my experience there are two or three things I notice that causes the bar to be lowered for conflict when hanging out with friends.

1. Previous feelings or sentiments that have been left and ignored that builds up tension and resentment or disrespect over time, this one tends to be subtle and hard to remember. Small things like a friend making a jab or rude/disrespectful comment that he was just messing with you but it cut deeper than you'd expect.

2. Irritability when you haven't eaten. Seriously, not even kidding. If your hunger and you haven't eaten all day and are hanging out in the afternoon, you are easier to annoy and smaller things tend to upset or piss you off more often than not.

This one I think is more me than anyone else so this is a maybe.
3. Not %100 committed or wanted to go out or hang out with friends but you went anyways, and things don't stick the plan for that day.

If its really over a word then it might just be more of a ego thing where as its not so much a conflict over words as one over one feeling or unknowingly thinking the other is calling them a liar or doubting their integrity, perhaps because they "put their self behind the word and taking a stand in declaring its meaning" or something.

I really hope there's an update soon.

We all do, but the update will come in time.

This sucks.
Please Monitor
Come back.
Or say something

>basically every quest I follow just dies at the same time
this is a feeling beyond compare.
I have reached the pinnacle of /qst/.

I've got this and BPQ that are looking a bit shaky. What, did some other stuff die?
>>
>>3580193
I know for a fact that a few quests I follow are about to go on indefinite hiatuses and some others have just stopped updating for quite some time.

I'm calling it quits. Even if monitor comes back they'll just keep flaking until the quest dies again. Good DC quests never last.

Hey now, I'm sure Monitor is just busy or something.
If his real life got in the way or something that's fine.
Dealing with stuff that actually affects you is far more important than writing a quest for a faceless hive.
Just, please come back.

The least he could do was give a quick "Hey shit's happening can't run for a few days".
>>
Shit happened. Shit is no longer happening. Shoulda kept in touch when shit went down. Update to come in the morning, or new thread if this one's dead. Just dropping a line in case this one dies before I wake up. If you want an explanation or an apology I'll provide one in the morning after the update, I'm too tired at the moment.

G'night.

QM curse is a thing as you have now discovered the hard way, but hey at least your house didn't burn down with all your notes. That is happened to what like 2 different QMs? Its honestly amazing the amount of different shit that happens to QMs.

>>
>>3587918
THAT would be based. Haven't seen a dinosaur troll in a long ass time.
>>
>>3587522
Did you mean the next morning, or is this another broken promise?
>>
>>3589080
Anon please, it's been like a week.
Don't try to make somebody feel bad about not being able to do something for free because IRL shit obviously got in the way.
It's pretty assholish.
>>
>>3589080
Just do like this anon >>3584049
and go away
>>
>>3587522
And then Monitor never woke up...
:(
>>
>>3589080
>>3589087
I think about these situations logically. I don't guilt trip QMs because guilt only makes them more scared of facing the players, so they're even more likely to jump out. Just chill, save the thread, and see what happens.
>>
Ashes to Ashes

Monitor pls post an update with a new thread before we are consigned to oblivion.

Once again Monitor flakes and breaks his promise.
