Both Johnny Cage and you locked each other in sight, circling the crater of a ring created by Shang Tsung and Sektor's previous fight. Audiences peer from the ages, watching in anticipation of the battle to come. The shokans, specifically one named Kintaro shouted for kombat to begin already.

"Johnny Cage is not the sharpest tool in the shed, as far as I have observed him during the Earthrealm Mortal Kombat tournament. Even so, for him to act this brashly is not natural. I suspect the thunder god had manipulated him or put the man under a spell of sort. Either way, he might not show as much reservation as he did against Reptile yesterday. I'd suggest you to err in the side of caution. I would hate to lose men with as much potential as you do."

These were the last words spoken by the sorcerer Shang Tsung. Those words rings true it seems, the man standing before you gritting his teeth, baring them like a rabid beast. His eyes reveal red statics, and outside the ring you can see Raiden's index finger on his left hand holding his staf seems to be moving in Cage's general direction.

"Why'd you side with Shang Tsung Satsujin?! You spared Jacqui yesterday didn't you? This is not all about Shang Tsung killing Sektor isnt it.... I didn't think you're such a piece of shit that you'll let the bastard play your strings like this!"

Phoneposting. Mind the quality.

"I'd say the same about Raiden and you, Cage. For someone who had beaten a god, your buttons sure are easy to push."

You gesture him to make the first move smugly, hoping that your comment might agitate him to do so. Sure enough, the human fighter charged at you with a swift punch aimed at the face. Despite his speed, you managed to dodge just in time to deliver a stomp on his knees, shaking Johnny's footing. He retaliated with a staggering blow to your guts that sent you reeling back.

"How's that for pushed buttons asshole!", Johnny Cage shouted before aiming to knee your lowered head.

"Exactly that!"

Evading a broken nose, you swiped Cage off his feet before he can lower his one leg proper, leaving him prone and open for attack. What will you do?

Shamg Tsung's amulet glows as you leap to your opponent's side in preparation for a chi strike. A sickening cracking noise resonates even beyond the ring as your fist connects with Cage's ribs, causing some of the audience to cringe. Johnny Cage clutches his chest in pain as he pushes himself back up, his breathing turned haggard. From the looks of it, you manage to fracture, maybe even break a few of the bones in him. Still, you haven't knocked out the fight out of the man just yet.

"Bastard…", he mutters before coughing up blood.

He regained his footing before you could capitulate too much on your previous crushing blow, a few blade cuts here and there. Johnny shot out a green energy blast that you manage to block, followed by him dashing forward at an incredible speed with a front kick that puts your back against the crater wall.

A fast jab narrowly misses your skull, cracking the earth behind you. Retaliating, you perform an elbow strike to Cage's chin. Blood shot up through his mouth sending him back and freeing you from being cornered. What's next?

>Perform a rope spear pull and knock this man out for good.

Flashes of steel passes by Cage, cutting through his flesh. None of your thrown daggers his the joints of his limb however as he charges at you in an attempt to pin down his adversary.

He misjudged your intentions however, instead focusing on shielding his upper body. Just before reaching his target, you ducked down and unsheathed your ninjato, slicing down the back of his left leg that causes him to kneel. You leaped up with his shoulder as stepping stone, throwing daggers with deadly accuracy midair to Cage's other, still intact leg. The fighter can no longer rise up to stand, despite his best effort if he does not want to bleed out. You have won.

Before Kotal could announce it, Shang Tsung comes closer to the ring's edge.

"Finish him.", he commanded coldly.

"No sorcerer, you will not have this one.", you answer.

"Is that so? Have you forgotten the offer I extended to you?"

Raiden looks at Shang Tsung with increasing contempt, but his look of dismay towards you have decreased somewhat. Jacqui Briggs of course is relieved to see that you have spared Cage.

"How long has it been since the Shirai Ryu's slaughter? Some 20 odd years? At what age were you when you escaped that fateful day? You are not young, yet you remain barely above novice, depending on outside powers and incomplete techniques. I've seen masters like Hanzo Hasashi and the old Sub Zero fight. They grossly outclass you in every way. I can mend that issue Satsujin, but only and only if you were to pay one small price: Johnny Cage's soul."

The sorcerer points at the fallen fighter. He smiled, knowing that he is offering you a chance in greatness in return for one favor. Raiden shakes his head in disagreement, frowning at you. Briggs is horrified hearing what Shang Tsung demanded and the rest only watches in anticipation of what is to come.

Yeah this. Shang Tsung, while resourceful and no doubt a great mentor to have, is a lying, cheating, back stabbing, treasonous son of a bitch who I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw him.

In all seriousness though, we REALLY need to find some kind of gimmic or something. All the longest running people have one. Shang Tsung has the right idea, using souls to power himself. Maybe we could take it a step further and become Scorpion 2.0, using the dead souls of the Shirai Ryu as power? Like a mix of Ermac/Shang Tsung and Noob Saibot...

"Well that is.... regrettable."

The sorcerer waves his hand, causing the amulet he gave you to disintegrate into dust. The surge of power coursing through your veins unceremoniously vanish, leaving you to almost fall on your knees. With disdain, he leaves the arena, but not before sparing a glance at a nearby veranda. Cage is being carried by Briggs and another Earthrealm soldier out of the crater you're both in. Before you can leave however, Raiden teleported inside to confront you. He doesn't seem to have any ill intent though, urging you to stay calm as he speaks.

"You have my thanks for preserving one of my fighters for the second time, Satsujin. It is a feat Hanzo Hasashi had failed to display during the previous mortal kombat tournament. Would you not consider fighting for Earthrealm? Your talent would surely be at better use fighting for your own realm."

"This realm will fall Satsujin, and soon you will have no home to return to, Outworld or Earthrealm. Struggle as you may, I will not stop at nothing to ensure the protection of my world."

Heeding no mind of the thunder god's threat, you leaped out of the crater, hearing thunder crashing down behind you. The second day of the Mortal Kombat tournament is over as all fighters return to their respective encampment.

-------------------------------------------

Night falls on Outworld once again and you find yourself awake still. The events that happened today are still lingering in your mind. An oppressive aura, the same you felt in Kotal's dungeon the night before the tournament, can once again be felt. Mileena owes her life to you, and you no doubt desire to reap the benefits of helping her. You've also set your mind on training with the mysterious fighter again. The lessons taught by him had aided you in kombat greatly. Thus, you embarked around the castle in search of these individuals.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You walked around for a while, but did not find a trace of any of the two you search. Your new mentor aside, worry grows in your mind, fearing that Mileena may have broken her promise and fled.

This, added with the dark aura surrounding the castle drives you to a maddening state of uneasiness. You shuffle back and forth on what steps to take next, that is, until you hear footsteps nearby. You turned around and…

You reacted fast enough, bending backwards to dodge a flash of steel passing where your neck was. Your assailant seemingly closed the gap between the both of you in a flash, now swipes his sword towards your leg, which you narrowly dodged, but still leaves cuts deep enough to bleed.

"Well aren't you the fast one.", His voice, filtered through a metal mask exclaims.

You draw your ninjato to match the assassin's exotic hooked swords which he wielded with deadly mastery. This combined with his super speed slowly starts to overwhelm you.

Luckily, a gap in his flurry of swings allowed you to thrust your blade deep into his guts. This should have been a fatal blow, yet your opponent stood unfazed. Before he could retaliate, you kicked him away to create some distance and breathing room.

"Ha! That's cute kiddo. Wanna try that again?"

Then you see it, the assailant illuminated by moonlight. Disregarding the breathing apparatus attached to his body, the skin exposed by his clothing betrays a deathly gray skin, and orange glowing cracks. He's obviously not human, not entirely anyway. Besides him, you sense one or more person in this room, spiking your urge to flee. What do you do?

Not responding to his taunting, you immediately take this chance to flee in fear of being outnumbered, especially against similarly inhuman warriors such as him. Your attacker simply laughs, as if giving you a head start. Sure enough, he caught up a distance of some 20 feet in an instance, dashing by corners and hallway like a purple lightning.

The flurry of sword swings begin anew as once again the assassin corners you with unyielding ferocity.

"C'mon, you beat Cage right? Show me what you're made of!"

Unsheathing another dagger on a different hand, you try to match his speed, parrying and deflecting blows. Just when you see a small gap to turn the tables, a loud bang was heard and you are pushed onto your back.

"Playtime's over Kabal.", a gruff voice demands.

Out of the darkness, a man in blue law enforcement attire comes out, pistol in hand. The muzzle is still smoking due to the recent discharge of ammunition. Touching your chest, you are sobered by your now blood soaked hands.

"Yeah, yeah Stryker. Just trying to have some fun, sheesh…."

The one referred to as Kabal positioned his hook sword so that the curved side is around your neck. With a single pull, he could tear off your head clean. "Stryker" aims his pistol at you with an unamused expression.

"So, any last words? Well, last living words anyway.", Kabal asks you with cruel glee.

A burst of smoke enveloped your immediate surrounding as you smash a smoke bomb against the stone floor. Using the confusion, you try to escape the two assassins sent for your life. Kabal's hook sword slices a side of your neck in your escape attempt. A few more gunshot grazes your body as you run, throwing daggers back in a bid to slow down your pursuers. You feel faint the further you go, clutching your bloodied chest to apply pressure onto the bleeding.

"Shifty one aren't you?"

Kabal effortlessly outpaced you, blocking your path triumphantly. Stryker catches up, dislodging a dagger from his throat as he shoots your leg which forces you to kneel.

"Well it's like my buddy here said, playtime's over. Don't worry though, you and I will get along juuuuuuust fine after this."

Before Kabal could detach your head, a sai was launched out of the shadows straight into Kabal's neck. Out of thin air, Mileena pops out, brutally pulling off the sai and savaging your would-be-executioner. Stryker tries to shoot her, but a different masked fighter also came to your aid. Tearing a piece of cloth from your clothing, you tightly secure it around your chest in hopes that it applies enough pressure to stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, Mileena and the mysterious fighter are facing their opponents. Mileena matches Kabal's speed with inhuman ferocity and strength, tanking a sword slicing into her arm without so much as a grunt. Stryker on the other hand is preoccupied with your mentor, seemingly outclassed in skill as he exhausts every tool at his disposal to stop the advance of his opponent.

Seeing as Kabal is the bigger threat here, you stand up and assists Mileena in her battle. You're too weak to fight in melee right now, but more than capable to attack from range. A well aimed dagger throw leaves Kabal kneeling on one leg, which earned him two sais in the neck and a knee on the jaw.

"Shit! Stryker, we're outnumbered here, time to bail!"

The speedster dodged past Mileena and joined his comrade jumping off the castle railings. Despite the height, it is doubtful that they would die from that fall. Sighing, you rest your back on the wall and sits down for a moment.

"Are you hurt? Let me see your chest…. You! Sound the guards! He needs immediate medical attention!", Mileena demands at your mentor.

"That would be unnecessary, Mileena. You however need to leave this place with haste. As far as Kotal is concerned you were supposed to be dead!", the mysterious fighter speaks.

"I… but-"

Mileena stutters before conceding, looming wistful as she melds into the castle's shadows. Your mentor holds you by the shoulder to receive aid.

"That woman, Shao Kahn's daughter. She possesses a volatile character, no thanks to her Tarkatan blood, a half breed clone of the then true Princess of Outworld. During her birth, her mental state is no better than that of a child. During Kotal's rule she's but a rebellious teenager. Her whole existence is filled with lies and betrayal. She will never truly belong to either side of her artificial heritage. You sparing her during her loss this morning may have triggered some form of dependence, and she may lash out at the smallest hint of betrayal. Knowing her past and considering what just happened it is hard to not pity Mileena. Be careful when interacting with her, Satsujin.", your mentor long windedly lectures.

You simply nod. Soon, your mentor leaves you at the hands of a shaman who applied salves upon your wound after extracting the bullet lodged in your chest. Before leaving, your mentor asks a favor from you.

"In tomorrow's match, I am sure that Raiden will bring out Sub Zero. I will be the one who challenge her tomorrow when the time comes. Can you promise to help me ensure that will be the case, Satsujin?"

Huh, fair enough. Figured we'd dive out the window or something, not just try and run. I wonder if the rest of the cast is as weak to bullets as we are. Erron Black should really instawin most fights.

Though for christ sake we NEED to prepare before hand. Maybe reconsider Shang Tsung's offer so he can teach us to bind vengeful souls that we can use against Sub-Zero!

He just saved our ass, why would we say no?

Ask him if he will kill her?

>Yes.
>I'd ask you spare her.

You nod weakly from where you lies a the Osh-Tekk shaman beside you stitches your gunshot wound. After assuring that you will assist him in his endeavour, your one-day-mentor leaves for the night, but not before thanking you.

"You have my gratitude Satsujin. To me, despite the shortness of our training, you are an excellent and bright student, but above all a humble and loyal one. Never forget that."

With that, he leaves you to the apothecary's care. After being administered some sort of liquid, you fall into a dream. In your dreams you see a tomb of a long dead king. In your dreams you see an egg of some sort pulsating with energy. In your dreams you see rows upon rows of petrified soldiers standing lifelessly. As you pass by them, their head slowly turn to your direction. They call out for their emperor. They call out for a name you do not recognize. Soon, consciousness takes hold, breaking your dream. The third day of Outworld Mortal Kombat tournament will soon begin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ring in the castle courtyard had been repaired, leaving it with a flat open ground as it had earlier in the day before. All fighters once again had gathered, with the exception of new faces among the Earthrealmers. It seems to replace Johnny Cage, Jacqui Briggs and Sektor, 6 new fighters had been summoned by Raiden. One is a hooded mountain of a man. His body is covered by layers of stone-like exterior and his eyes glows orange. The next newcomer is an adult male with silver white hair tied into a ponytail. He wears a vest with the character "空" on its back, a black pants and boots. The last one, or rather, the last three are a group of cyborgs of similar external design but of differing colour. They act in unison.

Something peculiar had also popped up in your side of the conflict. Two cloaked fighters whom you are unable to discern the identity of stands nearby, and Erron Black looks as if he is a few decades younger. Could he have done some form of deal with Shang Tsung?

Soon enough, Sub Zero steps into the ring, declaring a challenge to all Outworld fighters which seem to upset Raiden, as if she had gone against his orders.

"Here stands the true Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei you Outworld imbeciles! Who dares to step forward and fight me!", she gloats.

This bold challenge causes some of fighters to turn head to each other. One of your own, Kintaro, walks forward to accept it, only to be blocked by you.

"You dare, ninja?!", he asks, furious that you would deny a Shokan kombat.

>Try to reason with him so that your mentor could go for the challenge
>Threaten him to stand down

"No one doubts the strength of the Shokan, but that's why we need you to wait in case we need to turn the tables with one of our trump cards. No sense in letting a minor injury from underhanded bastards like the Lin Kuei hinder you in another match against an actually honorable opponent."

Addendum:
"Better to let another fighter go first in this instance to gauge their strength and see what counts as a 'grand master' amongst Earthrealmers don't you think? What might be a one sided sweeping victory for you might be considerably more difficult for a non-shokan kombatant. But that is information other fighters could use in case her crushing defeat causes them to treat their matches flippantly for no reason."
"You know?"

"No need to be so hasty, Kintaro. We are facing someone who's considered a Grandmaster among a notorious Earthrealm assassin clan. No one doubts the strength of the Shokans, but wouldn't it be smarter to let other fighters gouge out her strength? There is no need for you to fall for any underhanded tactics this early into the tournament."

"Bah! Shao Kahn once favored me for my strength and ferocity! I have no need of such discretion against clearly inferior weakling such as her. My flame will melt her smug ugly face off in an instant!"

While you talk with the hot headed Shokan, your mentor took the opportunity to walk into the ring and challenged Sub Zero himself.

"And who would you be, cur?", she asked, taking a fighting stance.

Your mentor sheds his mask, and then his robes. Some of the audiences are shocked, as are you. The striking blue attire coupled with the drastically decreasing temperature of the surrounding is more than enough to declare his identity.

"I am Kuai Liang, Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei. Today you will pay for your treachery, Frost! Hand over the Dragon Amulet and release the clansmen you enslaved!", he declares, taking a similar stance as her.

" They are mine by right you bastard! Should've held on to it harder if you think you deserve it."

"Frost, you insolent child! I gave you a home, raised you from the streets, taught you how to utilize your gift! Yet you stabbed me in the back and dug out our clan's shame once more!"

"You were a weak old man who excused the Shirai Ryu scums to walk the earth! I did what you could never do, you coward! Always holding me back, in truth you fear my power! But Raiden sees my potential, saw that I could be… more!"

The both of them prepared to do battle as the surrounding air turns to mist. A clash of cryomancers is about to begin!
