>Saigon, Deutsch-Ostasien
>January 29th, 1936. 10:58 PM

In a bar in Saigon, twenty seven men armed waited for a signal. In the meantime, the commander and the subcommander were having a bit of a spat. The commander, by the name of Julien Hennequin, was a firm believer in conventional warfare, where the subcomander, Sái Ngọc Thiện, was strongly in favour of more guerrilla style tactics. In the midst of the argument, and by the urging of they're soldiery, decided to settle this like the men they were, through a drinking game.

You turn to the men in the bar and stand on a chair. A sudden wave of soberness comes over you as you prep a speech "Men! Tonight we free ourselves from Imperial Tyranny, From the Chains that the Empire has kept us under! Tonight is the night we create a free Indochina!" You say, as the crowd cheers and whoops. Not just your soldiers, but the rest of the crowd in the bar cheer as well, some asking if they can join with various soldiers. You see grenades and pistol ammo get handed to civilians as they join in with your rank. Before anything else can be said, the signal is heard, a giant explosion from the German Imperial Consulate that was only three blocks down. A shockwave hits everyone in the room as you look out the windows. A firey cloud consuming the large building.

"Break the chains!" You shout, raising your fist. "Worker of the world unite! Tonight we will cast off the shackles of imperialism! We will forge a new world from the ashes of the old! Break the chains!"
You shout these things as you lead your army of now thirty one men out the door. The plan was to occupy the imediate surroundings. You heard scattered gunfire across the entire city, Three men stayed at the bar, and five men went across the street into the apartment complex to sweep it. The rest of your men spread out across the block you were meant to occupy, entering buildings and securing them. Police car and air raid sirens blared as the uprising began. Now you needed to pick a forward operating base.

I have confidence in my men. They have trained for months in secret leading up to this moment. They know what they have to do. I take a handful of men to re-position my radio inside the apartment. It will make for a good place to fall back to, should the Germans breakthrough our defense. I remind my squad leaders to stay within shouting distance of me. Once the radio is set up, I take up arms and join the battle.

>Use the apartments as a staging ground.
>>
You order your men to re-position the radio inside the apartment building. You move it to the top floor. Over the radio you command your army to set up sandbag defenses. A large group of men go into the apartment basement and start tossing sandbags up. A strictly regimented line of soldiers move sandbags and crates of barbed wires up to street levels. You watch as your army, like ants, set up barricades. The gunfire in the city starts to get more and more regular, as another explosion destroys a police station.
"VM 66 to command, we are seizing armories around central command area." Reports like these pour over the radios as more and more armories are seized by other bands of Việt Minh.

As the gunfire stays at a constant pace, you see an armoured vehicle start to roll up.

"Theres three batalions around this block, they don't know were here. Four more batalions are spread out across our imediate vicinity, all of those are in direct combat with our forces. On top of those, three more batalions are spread across the rest of Saigon."
You pass this information along to the main command. After a few more minutes you hear a slightly warbled voice come over the radio.
"This is UoB VM Liason, Megan, reporting that we have pushed all German forces out of Can Tho."
This news is heard all through our block, and cheers can be heard through the whole building.

"This is VM Commander Mai Cao Kỳ, reporting that all German forces have been pushed out of Ca Mau."
City after city falling to the Viet Minh, next was Soc Traing, then Bac Leiu, and last Rach Gia. More and more surrenders came from German batalions further south, and local militias started organizing and spreading out, capturing territory outside of their towns and cities. The final push in Saigon was now or never.
