/qst/ - Quests

In this realm, six forces war over all that exists. Each is paired, locked in struggle with a force that is anethema to itself, and each preys on another of these forces, and is preyed upon in return.

Chaos begets Magic begets Life.
Order begets Fate begets Death.

This cycle of war has continued for ages, when one begins to win over the other, the very balance of reality shifts and buckles as new things are brought into existence and old ones forced out of it.

This plane will never achieve stability, but that doesn't stop it's inhabitants from carving their desires into the fabric of it. The Divines rule over creation, taking domains filled with concepts to solidify their existence for millenia. They are the children of Order and Chaos. The Mortals inhabit creation, branching out of their role to grasp for their dreams. Their short lives give birth to ambitions beyond the imagination of any other beings. They are the children of Fate and Magic. The Primordials ARE creation. They are the wind and the stone, the earth and stars. Every tree and pebble is inhabited by them, every ore and gem. They are the children of Life and Death.

But, what are you?

>> Divine. You are a young member of Divinity. Possessing only a small domain with a single, mediocre concept, and having quite a few competitors who'd be happy to tear you apart to solidify their own existences.

>> A mortal. You will be like many others who came before, and many others who come after. But you will carve your existence into the history books, because your ambition demands no less. You will not be constrained by your birth, even if the gods wished it so.

>> A Primordial. You do not know what has awakened you, but your power is vast and it is deep. You won't have an easy time using it, though. Your spirit thrums with purpose, but you can't recall what it is. It pushes you forwards, ever onward...
>>
Hello guys, welcome to The Six Pillars! This might be a short quest, just 3 or so threads, but it really does depend on how much I enjoy myself.

Here's some useful information.

>I'll call votes at 15 minutes or if an option gets 3 votes.
>Rolls only count after the vote is called and lasts for 5 minutes, and there's a system of 3 [3d10+/- modifier] to resolve conflict. Depending on the action you want to take, you may need 1,2, or 3: 4s, 7s, 10s, or even 13s to succeed. If you get a nat ten and succeed on the two other dice, then you have a critical success, but getting two passes with nat 10s counts as well. Nat 1s have no effect unless all rolls failed. It is best of three for each column. Ex. 4,3,6 : 3,5,7 : 8,2,4 = 8,5,7. I hope this makes sense to you guys.
>If there is no votes, I will roll for the action taken.
>If there is not enough rolls, I will make them when the time comes.
>It's okay for me to change the rules if it'll make the quest run smoother.
That's about all I have to say for the opening post. But here's a little lore on the realm.

There is multiple planes of Creation, they are the bodies of ancient Primordials and not all of them have been discovered. The most important ones for the story will be Gaia, where most mortals live. Aether, where most Divines live, and then the four elemental planes of Ignis, Firma, Gale, and Seae, finally there is the underworld, Abyss, a land of dead mortals, dark gods, and where the minds of sleeping primordials rest, comforted and lulled to slumber by the presence of Abyss herself.

Anything specific pertaining to the realms should wait until more is decided about our character.
>>
This first vote, I'll leave open for 30 minutes. I'd rather not leave it up to chance.
>>
Hmm, is this a dead time-zone on /qst? It is pretty late. Well, I'm determined not to roll for this. So I guess I can only hope someone comes in and votes so we can continue.
>>
>>3637029
Voting for divine. Sounds interesting.
>>
>>3637031
>Divine
>>
I doubt there will be an upset within 2 minutes, so I'll post your options for the first concept of your small domain.
>>
Divinity... It's a hollow dream for most, though the rare mortal and rarer primordial manages to obtain it.

But this doesn't just flow one way, and for a young Divine like yourself, your future hinges on how well you can expand without causing waves and upsetting established powers.

You were spawned from...

>> The spirit of a local folk hero, a mortal who was revered after his death long enough to give root to your existence. You possess some of their skills, less of their memories, and preside over the concept of either 'Hardearned Respect', 'Selfless Protection', or 'Lucky Heroism'.

>> A landmark, strange and unique due to its strange presence. The locals prayed to you because of this, and from the shell of a sleeping primordial you were born. Your domain can be either (Harvest of Grain, Health of Children, or Safety of the Home.)

>> The mists of the Aether. The thoughts and beliefs of mortals across the Planes culminated in your creation. You could be anything... (Some examples would be, Winter Pestilence, Violent Expansion, Silent Murders.)

The first option has a few competitors and the most room for you players to act with ease.

The second option has almost no competitors, but you don't have much self agency in the beginning.

The third option has the highest potential and competitors, you could write in a suggestion if you wanted. (But try to keep it to multiple words. Northern Wind, not Wind. Guardian of X, not Guardian.)
>>
>>3637109
>folk hero
>lucky heroism
>>
>>3637109
>The mists of the Aether.
Guardian of Dreams
>>
>>3637109
>The mists of the Aether. The thoughts and beliefs of mortals across the Planes culminated in your creation. You could be anything... (Some examples would be, Winter Pestilence, Violent Expansion, Silent Murders.)
Some ideas I had:
>Zealotry
>Fear of the Other (xenophobia)
>Forbidden Temptations
>>
>>3637130
Out of these, Zealotry is my first preference if it's allowed.
>>
As for the power of a Domain's Concepts.

Basically, I look at the words themselves and what they mean, first. An example is Winter Pestilence.

Winter, the time of the year where the sun's light hits at an angle the departs less heat on the surface, and days last less time. It's the time of death and sleep for many forms of life. BUT. This is not Winter, Pestilence. It's Winter Pestilence.

So, only the pestilences prominent in Winter are under your control. And you only have a percentage of the concept, since there are going to be many divines linked to this concept. Like any god of Winter or god of Pestilence. Your existence drains some of their power, not enough to actually attract attention unless you're totally careless.

What you would need to do is search for concepts others haven't claimed yet. You could do it by being incredibly specific, like getting 'Sicknesses of the Reynold House in Farmville'. That would let you increase the pestilence domain's power, by an incredibly small amount.

Or you could go after other minor divines with a winter, season, or pestilence domain. Try to directly fight with them and steal what you want for big boosts at big costs.

Diversifying is important, but if you can't reinforce your domains they'll be easy to steal and hard to feed into each other.

So don't try to do conflicting concepts and things.

It's a bit of a mess, I know, but if we just start playing with it I think we could have a lot of fun.
>>
All three of those votes are within the time limit, I think. So we will be born in the mists of the Aether. But what was the concept you were born to rule?

>>Justified Zeal
>>Blind Zeal
>>Guardianship of Zealots
>>Forbidden Temptations
>>Guardianship of Dreams
>>Fear of the Other
>>
>>3637142
>Forbidden Temptations
>>
>>3637142
>Blind Zeal
>>
>>3637144
>>3637146

Both have their good points. Mainly, it's easier to get followers as a god, really.

Having control over forbidden temptations, to tempt useful followers to you. Or Blind Zeal, to blind your followers to your flaws and inspire them... It's pretty good set-up for the future, either way. Though, I will say they are rather heavily leaning you towards Chaos and Order respectively.
>>
Three minutes left, wonder if we'll have a tie breaker?

Should I just 1d2 it if there isn't?
>>
>>3637158
Yeah let the dice decide
>>
So be it!

>1 = Forbidden Temptations (Chaotic)
>2 = Blind Zeal (Orderly)
>>
Rolled 1 (1d2)

>>3637167
Fails to roll dice, fucking a... kek.

Does a capital D really matter? or is 1d2 too small?
>>
>>3637170
1d2 might be too small. 4chan dice have weird curves on the smaller ones not saying this because blind zeal lost, so we're clear, totally not that
>>
>>3637109
Yes... that's right. You are mist-born, your mind coasts along the winds in the plane of Aether.

Knowledge you could not have know exists within you, most pertains to the temptations forbidden to mortals. What they love to hate to love... But some of it is about yourself, though ill defined you are.

You are not nameless, but your name is simple and generic. "Temptress of the Moonlight."

A few people have thought of you this way, their thoughts are yours. You are what they claim you to be, for now. For you are young, younger than them, but the idea of you has been around for as long as Creation itself...

Forbidden Temptations, how delicious that domain sounds. It makes you wish you had hands to caress the skin you lack. It makes you want to eat the flesh of your own kind and dance naked in the halls of a temple, to break vows for fun and seek knowledge to powerful to destroy and dangerous to understand.

You're filled with desires, flitting thoughts that can't agree or disagree, but in the end, you decide to...

>> Depart from the Aether, you wish to play in the other planes of Creation. Gaia is where the Mortals who spawned you live, right? Maybe you should visit one of their kind, maybe you should forge a name for yourself?

>> Indulge yourself in these various thoughts, revel in them while searching for some tasty concepts in the mist. Expanding would be okay, if you keep it small of course, and it could help clear your head... not that most of your trains of thought WANT that.

>> You want to enact some of these darker fantasies on something, find another weak Divine and take pleasure in their suffering... or vice versa, if they're capable of putting you in your place. You're not particularly against either option, aside from the risk of growing weaker of course... but a part of you whispers there's a certain kind of strength, in weakness. Hmm~...

Not TOO much fun, this is /qst afterall, not one of those nsfw sites. But if we ever get to doing things like that I think I can link them from somewhere else, right?
>>
You know, I'm kinda considering having the MC here aware of chat, but I think that'd be a bit strange to write, and 'Forbidden Temptations' might not be enough to really justify it.

Maybe some good lines could be used, but that's something I can debate later. For now...

>>
Just a few hours now!~

I'll be writing up the different races of mortals in my free time.
>>
Well, I've more or less finished the races of Mortals. Slow day I guess. Here it is!~

Children of Fate

Orcs - A brutish, tribal race on the whole, though it’s become more common for their tribes to bunch up and ‘civilize’. There’s a dozen or so Orcish cities on the border of the Orc-lands, that trade and fight for something greater than the blood of their enemies.

Dwarves - A reserved and ancient race. They’ve survived many eras as the powers that be tear the world and shape it anew. They cling to the traditions of their ancestors, though they don’t understand most of the technology of their ‘precursor’ race.

Monsters - A collection of beast and foul persons born with a purpose in the world, mutant animals or people spawned their lines, and they propagated. Monsters seek power, through consuming the life-force of others. Goblins, Dire-wolves, Owlbears… the list goes on and on, but some deny their fates...

Fae - Sometimes referred to as the Hands of Fate. The Fae see through the weave of reality, and understand incomprehensible truths. Their power ranges from weaker than a human child, to stronger than a godly pantheon, but each works on terms that they can not break with desires most can’t hope to grasp. Fairies are the weakest of them, though, notable only for their immortality and miniscule innate abilities.

Giants - A collection of unnatural races, they are huge and reclusive on the whole, living in the depths of forests, swamps, and mountain ranges. They possess great innate strength, physical and magical, but little ambition. The rare giant who enters the lands of man is an ambitious sort, who will die or flourish.

Demons - When the dead don’t die, they linger on the plane of Abyss. Demons are their keepers, and their children. Demons are the final stage of life for all mortal beings, if they fail to ascend and refuse to die. They use souls as currency and to feed their innate powers. Each demon is unique, but shares certain traits with each-other, such as each one possessing a wicked nature and a desire to live again. To escape the Abyss.

1/2
>>
Children of Magic

Humans - The dominant race of Gaia. They are as young as they are old, for every era, the Humans never fail to pop up. Each time, their histories are devastated, but in mere generations they form nations and spread to reclaim the world. With short lives and short tempers, they chase their ambitions regardless of the forces that be. They care not for their bonds to Magic, Fate, Life, Death, Chaos or Order. No, they’ll use the power of anything they find if they can.

Elves - This race is the keeper of Magic and Nature. They perform rituals that revitalize the body of Gaia, create items of such power they could slay a god, and bicker over the true path of their race’s future. In most eras, they turn against each-other, fighting for centuries or even millenia over how to worship their gods. Some greater beings believe the Elves were cursed to act this way, by a pantheon long forgotten, because of their startling potential.

Gnomes - A race of small beings. Some are furred, some are smooth skinned. All have a connection to the magic of nature, and a curiosity for the machinations of Creation. How things work, technology, philosophy. They are thinkers and builders and super fucking cute!! But, they struggle with population size, and are likely to die in an era or two.

Elementals - They are the lifeblood of magic, the flesh of the elemental planes, and the guardians of Gaia. Elementals are all the Fae could have been if they had embraced life with open arms. They live among all the races of mortals, sharing their power to any being who calls on them in their heart.

Beast-kin - Some consider this race an evolution of Monsters, some consider them a creation of the elves, and some consider them a product of Human Promiscuity. But, no matter the truth, they are humanoids with a wide range of beastly or monstrous traits, from barely human to barely non-human. A lot suffer predjudice for different reasons, but they are a happy race that perserveres, nonetheless.

Dragon-kin - Dragons are a myth, but their descendants are very real. They live as clans and subspecies, each tracking their unique traits and appearance to their ancestor. Marrying outside of the clan is forbidden, but many have left to pursue their ambitions in love or for adventure. The strongest of these beings are known as Drakes, and the weakest as Kobolds or Lizardmen. The Dragon-born make up the majority of the population, though, possessing the breath, scales, and talons of their namesakes.

Now note, just because a race is the Child of Fate or Magic, does not mean they can not use magic, or be born with innate abilities respectively. They can and are, it just means that is the affinity their race possesses.
>>
>>3637179

You decided to slip away from the plane of Aether and the mists from which you were born. Your eyes are turned towards another world, a place of Magic and Fate, where mortals struggle against each-other and the gods of their enemies, hoping to make life just a wee~ bit better for their offspring and themselves. 'Heheh... It's cute, ki~nda.' You think to yourself, reviewing the thoughts that make up your mind at the moment... hm, oh!~

You seem to know quite a bit about mortals, heheh. Well then, that just means you'll be able to pick out a fun target from the buffet of options to choose. 'Who to tease, who to tempt?~ So many options and so much time to try them all out~' You think, somehow slipping between worlds with such ease that any demon would spit blood if they saw it happen.

'Well, I'm he~re! Now where should I go?' Hmm... Maybe you could...

1 - Orc outside the orclands
2 - Orc in a tribe of the orclands
3 - Orc in an Orcish city
>>
>>3637892

'Heheh!~ Well, I suppose an Orc could be some fun. Feisty, loyal, brash... ' Your ethereal form shudders as you roll over in the air and bathe in the moon's light. 'Mmm, yes. I'd like to play with someone like that...' You can hardly restrain your mirth as thoughts of turning loyal broodmares into a dominatrix, strong leaders into lazy hedonists, and young braves into reclusive intellectuals... 'There's fu~un to be had here. I just kno~w it!'

+_+

You slid through the air as a mote of energy and wispy essence, surveying the ground so many miles below you as you coast. But, even with the distractions of half a dozen trains of thought focused on the destination, at least a part of you focused on how to get there.

Beneath you, the harsh Orc-lands lays sprawled, like a wound in the earth from your point of view. Barren sands and rocky canyons form a large portion of it, with some mountains and valleys ringing the land. A few small rivers carve through the barreness. Some drop off into the canyons, some pool into the marshes at the border of these lands, but all are the life blood of the inhabitants of this land.

And it's along one of those rivers destined to end its journey in the swamps, that you find a town bordering on being called a city. Orcs teem within it, and toil around it. A crude road of cut sandstone leads to it from far in the distance, and you notice a small population of, surprisingly non-enslaved, other races. 'Huh. Guess they really have begun to settle down.' You think to yourself, almost shocked at the strange site of Orcs going about a daily life...

But a daily life means structure. And structure means laws, but more importantly, it means TABOOS. You'd love to see your smile right now, if you had either a mouth or a mirror to look into.

You dive into the smoke and stench of mortal beings, and revel in the noise. Concepts are born and die at an astonishing rate among them. The interactions of these ambitious beings, their conflicts, their compromises. It's so energetic, and it makes you even MORE eager to start your fun.

But what's a good target? 'What am I looking for?' You can't help but wonder. With so many vibrant lives around you, you're suddenly a bit lost... almost uncomfortably so.

>> A young urchin sitting on an uneven clay roof. They're young, but that's no reason for fate to spare them its cruelty. They seem quite focused on some of the goods being traded in the street below...

>> A warrior, or guardian perhaps? You've seen his eyes drift while he patrols, before snapping away from the bodies of women. He seems to be chastising himself for a lack of... self control? Hehehee~ That could be fun.

>>A heavily robed Orc, wearing a spiked chain of black iron. Standing on a platform, he speaks to the crowd with passion as he cradles a book bound in the skin of another race. But maybe they can feel the doubts that you do? Because most of them leave after hearing more, or ignore him altogether.

You flit about the streets for a bit, cycling between three Orcs who caught your attention. A priest, a guard, and a sweet innocent youth... 'Pfft, as if I'd pass this chance up!~' You come to a consensus. Really, there's no way you could let this child keep struggling with their needs and morals.

'Time to tease a little cutie!~ let's get a good look at them first...' You fly around him as he kicks his little legs, and immediately freeze.

'Oh my~... How strange, how cute, how queer!~ This isn't just an Orc, he's a half-breed~. Forbidden love? No, he tastes darker than that... So that's the story? His mother left him here after being rescued from one of the tribes. The priests say he's too old to live with them anymore? But he looks so young, half-elf indeed. Poor boy, sweet child, naive... Hehehee~' Your thoughts go on a rant as you continue to circle and look him all over, gleaning bits and pieces of his life from his thoughts and fragments of his memories.

Really, such a fragile child. Only sixteen~... But he's got heart, and he's got soul, but most importantly he's got desires. You can feel them in his spine, see them in his eyes... Yes. This one has potential.

The only thing left, is to decide how to approach him... He's been eyeing the stalls for a while now. He really likes a few of the items: A steel dagger hanging on the side of a stall, a studded leather vest hung behind a stall-owner down the street, and a box with a clean and sturdy set of some kind of tools in it.

Oho... You don't think he has the money for any of it, but surely you can convince him to take one? 'I've decided, yep yep!~ It's time to get this boy what his heart desires~'

That is to say, you'll push him to...

>>Steal the steel dagger. It's a good blade to help him cut down the obstacles in his path. Much better than the iron that most would be able to afford.

>> Lift the armor, he could get it quite easily from the rooftops. And there's little risk he'd get caught by the guards. It's ea~sy pick~ings.

>> Those tools are calling to him, and you've noticed there is more to them then meets the eye... But the thought of helping someone's destiny progress leaves a bad taste in your mouth... hmm. Well, you are curious what he could do with them, though...

"The priests?" You interrupt him. "You mean the cretins who threw you out to the streets two years ago? The ones who declared you 'a man' despite your size and fraility? The people who deny you help, who deny you an equal standing with the others, just because your mother was an elf? My boy, my sweet child... You are not one of them, they have made it clear. But, you could be one of mine... What do you say?" You ask him. "Won't you do it?" You rise above him, holding his head against your chest as you press your nose to his hair and wrap him in your embrace. "Don't you want that?"

... Silence, but you can feel his beating heart and his breath. Before you started, you knew exactly what to say and what to do to get what you wanted. And what would push him even further into your embrace... He tries to pull back a bit, and you let him, floating down to see his face clearly as the sun signals the beginning of the twilight hours. "Yes." He says, looking at you with wide eyes and a sense of underlying will and determination. "I do want that, I'll become yours, goddess. So please, lend me your strength. Help me, please."

You smile, "Then we will begin." You gift him a minor boon, by placing your lips between his eyes and caressing his long ears. You giggle internally at his rapt attention and slight blush, before saying, "I've given you a blessing of the twilight hour. When the sun begins to set, man and woman stretch and pack up the work of the day, turning to the pleasures of the night to pass their time. Right now, no one will look at you with suspicion or disdain, no. Anyone who sees you, will have their thoughts filled with desires and things that they are afraid to enjoy. They will clamp down on them, and become distracted, unless they possess a strong will. So go, slip through the crowd and take what is yours."

He grins, nervous and excited, full of energy as his eyes sparkle and observe the stalls as prey instead of something to fret over and debate with himself. "Yes... my goddess." He says, the hushed voice sends a shiver down your spine as fragmenting pieces of his morality begin to flit about in the air. You happily gobble them up, and watch as he steps off the roof, and into the crowd below.

Rolled 3, 4, 6 + 2 = 15 (3d10 + 2)

A whole fucking hour spent crafting this fucking post. Only for my glitchy fucking mousepad to double click my chrome tab when I switched back from image searching. I'm so FUCKING pissed right now...

Rolling for the boys thieving.

This is why most qms write outside then paste. Work or a text doc is less likely to loose progress.

I just got used to it in akun before I quit there. You could close the window and come back later cause it auto saved. I knew it didn't here, but my glitchy touch pad made me double click the tab exiting it out.

I'll be more careful next time... this really sucks.

The boy slipped into the crowd like a ghost as you laid down upon the roof and watched, ethereal palms on your chin as you kick the transparent smoke you call legs, idly watching his progress. 'Heheh this was soo~ easy! And what a feeling... I might get addicted to this, if I'm not careful...' Not that that'd be a bad thing, parts of you comment. But all of you is enjoying this, basking in the boy's presence as he feeds your domain more and more.
Coinpurse here, snack there, the dagger, a leather bracer, a pack, a shirt, some shoes... he moves like a ghost, stealing beneath the noses of everyone around him. Finally, though, he reaches the real prize. The tools which shimmer with a certain... magical glow.
He swallows his spit, but does not pause. He walks forwards, brushing past the stall without looking at it... and when you see him in another part of the crowd, the box's corner slightly sticks out of the pack on his back.

Your grin explodes as you leap off the rooftop and twirl towards him, dispersing most of your form for stealth.
You follow him into an alley, and down through some broken cobblestones into a man-made tunnel.

"Are you there?" He asks, looking around in the darkness. "Goddess?"

>> "Of course, you made me proud out there."
>> "For now. But you should have grabbed the armor first, not to mention how dry watching you was. Put some flare into it next time..."

"Of course!~" You say, materializing enough to be seen in the dark. "You made me proud out there, though I will say, next time put a little more flair in your performance. I want to be a charming rogue or dare I say, even a tempting one?"
He nods to your words and smiles. "I'll certainly try my best, but that was amazing just now. I walked through the crowd like they weren't even there! And I got so much good stuff... This was awesome." He looks at you with uncomfortably pure eyes.
'He's happy,' a part of you realizes. Just... Happy to be here, to have met you. You can feel it in him, he's so defenceless and pure. Even with all the things he stole, he's got an ocean of desires and mountain of morals you could keep feeding from... But if you really want more power, you'll need followers, not just a champion that hardly looks the age of 9...

You smile, following the boy into his hide-away, listening to him talk about the city and his life... You are content with this, for the moment. This boy is good. A small little champion for a small little Divine, but you plan on changing that. It is your duty, and your desire, to become more godly. To tempt more people, to expand the sphere of your domain, and to collect more essence to define yourself... Focusing on your champion, building a leader to rally your future followers around. This is the first part to stepping beyond the lackadaisical wisp of potential you began as, and becoming something so much more.

You think these kinds of thoughts to yourself, while the boy struggles not to pass out. But soon, his eyes close, and he slumps against the wall of his sleeping rags. Items he'd stolen sitting around him or tucked into nooks and crannies, just in case. Looking at him fondly, you turn your eyes to the distance. The stark silence of your mind nearly startling you, until ideas for the future finally start emerging from the depths...

We're going to move into a slightly different vote format for what comes next.

There's three things that need to be addressed.

You have a resource value called Essence. The child generates 2 essence once the post is written up, you can increase that by guiding him down a darker path. You can also get essence from going out to attack other Divines.
Essence can be saved or spent, you can buy concepts with it, bestow blessings, and perform miracles.

You have Six essence right now. Represented by:
cont.
>>
>>3642784

Please choose one each, of the following.
What guidance do you give the child?

>Little to none, let him develop on his own for the moment. Give him no more of your power than is absolutely necessary. (Costs 0 essence: small chance of losing favor with the child, small chance of gaining favor with the child, large chance of maintaining the status quo.)
>Moderate Guidance. You will give him missions of a sort, designed to test his capabilities and corrupt his morals, giving you more essence. (Costs 2 essence: Moderate chance that you will gain favor with the child, Moderate chance of maintaining the status quo, Small chance the child will begin to Revere you.
>Obsessive Guidance. You will accompany him throughout his life, molding him into the shape of your ideal champion using your essence, whispering the wonders and powers in store for him under you, should he continue to please. (Costs 4 essence: Moderate chance the child will begin to Revere you, Moderate chance you will lose favor with the child, Small chance you will gain favor with the child.)

What efforts do you put into expanding your domain?

>Fight a minor Divine such as yourself. (Cost 2 Essence. Minor chance to subsume the enemy, Small chance to defeat the enemy, Large chance to standstill with the enemy, Minor chance to lose some of your 'Forbidden Temptations' domain.
>Swim through the Aether, hoping to chance upon something useful. (Cost 3 Essence. Minor chance to expand 'Forbidden Temptations' domain. Large chance to gain 1d4+1 essence. Small chance to find a miniscule, unrelated domain. Minor chance to encounter an enemy Divine.
>Nothing, simply relax and feed on what you already have. (Cost 0 essence. Gain 2d2-1 essence)
cont.
>>
What efforts do you put into solidifying your Godhood?

>Prepare the town by sending messages into the dreams of those you'd like to target, your name, your domain, whatever their sleeping minds can remember of it will stick with them, and help solidify your personality. (Cost 4 essence. Initiates a follow up vote on what people want the character to become. Large chance that the main character will develop in the way players desire. Small chance the main character will develop along the major points the players desire. Minor chance the character will have random additions or subtractions from the current iteration.
>Push the boy into telling stories of you by word of mouth to temple orphans, urchin gangs, and other places. (Cost 2 essence. Initiates a follow up vote of what people want the main character to become. Moderate chance that the main character will develop in the way players desire. Moderate chance the main character will develop along the major points the players desire. Small chance the character will have random additions or subtractions from the current iteration.)
>Protect yourself from the thoughts of mortals who have fleeting considerations of you, they may have birthed you, but that is it. Your life is yours now. (Cost 1 essence. The character remains the same.(PS. The cost increases the more people thinking about you without your guidance or teachings to help them understand 'what' and 'who' you are.))
>Allow your interactions with the boy to reinforce your Godhood. His thoughts on your actions will shape you, adding substance to your form... (Cost 0 essence. Overwhelming chance that the favor you hold with the boy will result in additions or subtractions to the main character's identity. Small chance nothing will change about the main character, but that they gain favorability with the child.)

If there's anything you'd like to do, in the months to come.

Perhaps, though you're slated to become an Orc Goddess of Temptation and Dreams at the moment.

Like, if I had to write an epilogue right now. Shaping your character is something that needs to be chosen, from this point forwards, or allowed (though it would be random)

Just gotta say, I'm really enjoying this quest so far. It had a bit of a slow start but the intriguing writing made up for that.

Rolled 2 (1d2)

four voters

Moderate guidance - X X
1d2:
1 aether bathing
2 relaxation station.
Dream Walker - X X X X

Well, if Aether bathing wins the roll, we move on to a sudden death vote on wether to dream walk or take a dip. Those cost 3 essence and 4 essence respectively. Combined with Moderate Guidance, you'd be spending 9 essence when you only have 6.
>>
>>3643008
Yeah this is why i wanted relaxation station what if we dont get any essance will we just die?
Why the fuck cant annons do basic addition it infuriates me.
>>
Rolled 1, 1 + 1 = 3 (2d2 + 1)

So in total for this turn, Six essence was spent. And 2+2d2-1 essence was gained.

A follow up vote for the players' intended direction of development for the main character will begin now.

I will write the current direction as a standard vote option, this should help you understand what to change if you want something different.

>>Name/s - Temptress of the Moonlight, Outcast Mother, Starlit Maiden.
>Domain/s - Temptation, Dreams
>Description- A shameless goddess who seeks to embrace the outcasts and the oppressed. She is cunning but not malevolent. She enjoys her depravity and wishes to share it with others, to give them their heart's desires, and to make them hers.

If you want to add more or less, feel free to. If you're okay with it as it is, that's fine.

I won't count votes that come within five minutes of this post, though.
>>
>>3643022
You will not die immediately, but if you have below zero at the beginning of a turn, you'll be in trouble.

Without essence, you're more or less forced into hibernation. If your followers can restore you within a certain amount of time, you'll be fine, just weakened. Go on for too long, and you'll become fractured, or even de-volve into a primordial. Your domain, your very self, turning into something somewhere. Particularly strong gods that 'die' like that, will turn into entire planes of existence.
>>
>>3643046
I like that template as our base. Perhaps Add forbbiden desires to domain.
>>
I think I'll leave it here for tonight.

I've been on the site for better part of eight hours now. I do have things I ought to get done before tomorrow.

I might not be ready for another run tomorrow. But if I am, it'll be around 4 pm nebraska time. (I don't quite know what time zone that is. Central something? Central north america time zone? One hour behind est and 2 ahead of california.)
>>
Looks like I won't be able to run until later in the week. I've got four hours of lawnwork ahead of me, and I doubt I'll be ready any time soon, after that.

I'll let ya'll know when I think I'll be ready.
>>

Cool QM
>>
Well, I think I'm ready.
>>
Rolled 1, 7 = 8 (2d10)

What are the odds?
>>
Rolled 3, 1 = 4 (2d4)

So that's how it is.
While you manage to get closer to the boy, your messages to the sleeping townspeople got a little jarbled, and the rumors about you are going in a few different directions, there's going to be a few minor aspects that change a bit from their differing interpretations it would seem.

The hours pass in seconds, as you watch the boy sleep. He’s yours, but you’re not content with him as he is.
You seep into his dreams, using the connection your blessing has formed between you to bleed essence into his mind at a very slow rate. ‘This should do it. In a few days, I’ll test him further.’ You think to yourself… But there’s more to it than this.

You need to think of more things you could do. Ways to spread the word about you… You consider a few options, but there’s really only one way to go about this. You’ll seed the dreams of sleepers, over the next few weeks. Let them get a feel for who you are, who you want to be… Well, that’s something to focus on in the future. For now, you decide to let your mind wander, falling into a trance of sorts as you giggle internally a dozen dozen times.
Conversations and roleplay, imaginative storytelling. You engage in all kinds of frivolous activities as the boy sleeps, relaxing, and drawing some power from the breaking of taboos the world over…
_+_

The days pass with a blend of anxious energy and some slight boredom for you. Some are slower than others, and interacting with your young champion is much of the reason for that. He’s… stubborn, in a way. You find that your essence doesn’t batter down any barriers of morality for him, nor does it spark the zealotry you’d expect from an ambitious little cultist like him… But you grow closer, anyways.
Beyond the games and teasing, you find yourself genuinely paying attention to his little rants about the things he’s seen and the people he’s met… And he’s latched onto you as well.
He may not see you as the goddess you are, but he’s come to accept you as a… a mother, of sorts. A mother who didn’t try to abort him, one who doesn’t abhor him. This feeling in your stomach, when he comes to the hideout with scratches and bruises… The change in your smile when he does something for you. These feelings are a sign of change, within you. It’s a change you don’t recognize until he says it one day, as he drifted off to sleep in your embrace.

G’night, ma”*Yawn*
You froze, at that. Half a dozen arguements went silent, and even the main body of decision makers felt the gravity of those words… The realization that they brought. You aren’t just the Temptress of the Night, anymore. You’ve earned yourself another title. Something else to root you, and to gather followers… But more importantly, it shows you just how much you mean to this child. “... Good night, my child.” You whisper to him, long after he’d fallen asleep…

_+_

Soon, weeks began to pass, and the first month of your life on Gaia ended. You’d done a lot of preparation and experimentation in your freetime. Working out how and what needs to be done to project yourself across the minds of many sleeping mortals. But you finally felt prepared.
cont
>>
>>3647104

Getting away from the boy had been difficult, because he has begun to rely on your presence to sleep well throughout the night, but you managed to succeed this time… With a moment of silence, from all but the most disobedient inner voices, you settled in for the night of essence weaving to come…

... Really?’ Fortunately, you found out that you’d succeeded in spreading the news of your existence quite well… but you exited your typical relaxed state, into a rather uncomfortable situation. Small seeds of many new concepts regarding your form and domain were everywhere inside of you. Even the normally disorienting array of inner turmoil you usually have, is nowhere near as annoying as the dozen or so misconceptions trying to worm their way into the core of your being.
‘Blood-Wife, The Virgin Orc, Vixen of Crime, Goddess of Danger?! What is wrong with these people’s memories!?’ Those are only the ideas strong enough to worry about for the future, the rest are already starting to bleed out of you as rumors start to solidify and dispel them.

You sigh… though really, this was to be expected…

Well, you’ll keep that in mind going forwards. But for now, there’s some things that are holding your attention…

Choose up to two…
(Essence |X X X X)
>The boy. You’re tired of calling him this, but the little rebel refuses to use what was given to him by the priests… Well, you can fix that. Names have a certain power, especially to a Divine like you, but you’re willing to bestow him one anyways. (-1 essence, ???)
>Your essence levels are a bit low… And there just so happens to be some competition in town. Guide your champion to the small shrine of ‘Garettahl’-Orcish Godess of Fading Life and Bitter Hopes. If he can destroy it, you’ll be able to siphon a decent amount of her energy and weaken her influence in this town. (- 1d3 essence, + 2 to 15 essence, chance of failure based on your champion’s rolls.)
>Those tools. The boy has tinkered with them a few times, but neither of you have really discerned what they are or why they’re calling to him. You want to investigate. (-1 essence, potentially learn more about the boy’s ‘Fate’ and the natural talents gifted to him.)
>Your ‘religion’. You want to go a step beyond the dreams, and simply manifest yourself in front of people who know about you. Give the dreams some corroborating evidence. (-0 essence, small chance to increase essence gains per ‘turn’)
