For those of you unfamiliar with HJC. It is a Chinese wuxia web-novel.
You can read it here, it is completed: https://www.wuxiaworld.com/novel/heavenly-jewel-change

The Wiki (May lack information with certain characters but has all the mechanical information we need): https://heavenly-jewel-change.fandom.com/wiki/Heavenly_Jewel_Change_Wiki

Lots of things like place names and people will be OC. so I can run with interesting character ideas.

This will be the initial power setup thread. You will play as Zou-Do-Shai. A 14 year old orphan boy living in Dershwa city, a relatively advanced city with two main borders, one with a forest to the east and a wasteland to the west . For now we are going to roll/vote for his Personal Jewel(s) of power. For those who haven't read HJC. People in this world cultivate heavenly energy, each level makes them stronger and more powerful, those who do not cultivate are the vast majority. When they have cultivated the first 3 levels of heavenly energy they develop either Physical or Elemental jewels. They can cultivate to 9 Jewels of Power, each jewel increasing their strength and control over element(s) or physical attribute(s), respectively called Physical Jewel Masters and Elemental Jewel Masters. Rarely, some people will awaken with both Physical and Elemental jewels at 4 levels of Heavenly Energy.. These people can cultivate to 12 jewels total. They are called Heavenly Jewel Masters. They can become the strongest humans in this world, the major clans are all comprised of Heavenly Jewel Masters.

Choose:
>Physical Jewel Master
>Elemental Jewel Master
>Heavenly Jewel Master

You will find a cultivation technique later. You currently are not in possession of any Heavenly Energy. A normal human.
>>
The cutoff for voting will be at 08:00 gmt. In around 10 and a half hours. Then we will roll for things like the number of elements and physical attributes. Depending on which set of jewels we choose, there will be choices for a cheat as this is wuxia.

Your name is Zou-Do-Shai, only 14 years old, yet an orphan in the great Dershwa city, a massive place built of stone, well protected, but surrounded by beasts from both the forest and the wastelands, with a border with one coastal country to the north.. The head of the Orphanage looks after those children more unfortunate than most, but many never learn to read or write, only survive. but, as it is your 14th birthday, you know you need to make your own way in life. The head, as sweet and kind as she is, offers a job in the orphanage, but it will not pay well. The other options mean going into the forest and killing monsters, or searching for a job.

Choose
>Search for a job, this means a safer cultivating environment, but less fighting opportunity. Will require a roll for the job you get.
>Apply as a junior hunter for the forest, optional roll to find a secret cultivation technique in the forest, it is known well to be a good place to hide good things, as it is filled with monsters which can tear a normal man to pieces. Required encounter roll.

You know that the best way to earn money in this city is by joining the hunters. You make your way to the nearest guard post ask ask to join. "You want to join? You're only 14!, tell you what, I'll put you on a patrol team, probably the safest bit, I can tell you have no heavenly energy so don't expect any special gifts, just the standard gear."
>Gained Basic Hunter's Gear (Includes new clothes and a small knife. 1d6 damage)

You are told to meet a small group of about 5 adults near the entrance to the forest, all of them look bored, one, the leader of the group informs you he has 2 levels of Heavenly Energy, so there's no need to worry.
Setting of into the forest, its scary, the pathway is clear, but the rest is dense, some light passes through but you can't see much, only a few magic lamps lighting the way, something tells you this won't be as boring as the others think it might be.

You run, as fast as you can, but you're terrified, behind you all you hear are screams, everyone's dying, you can barely move your feet. blood in your eyes, knife on the ground. "Hhmm"

He places his head on you, you feel nothing but fear, an energy pulses through you. coming from those weird jewels on his left wrist. settling on your left arm.

"This should help you, When you reach 3 Jewels, look for the Demon Hammer in Miller city. I expect to see you soon."

>Due to Fear you do not stop to loot the wolf/ people

He leaves in a flash, with the wolf dead, and the fear still running through you, you finally start to run, as you do you stop at a tree, and see a book hidden inside. Whatever.

Stat explanation.
For now you have 6 main stats, represented by dice pools. Used mainly for checks

>Strength 1d10, the stronger you are, the harder you hit, weapons increase your dice pool, e.g the knife you have makes your current strength 1d16.
>Agility 1d10, can move fast, better speed means you can escape faster and attack quicker. Will normally be used for running checks, also used for general travel
>Endurance 1d10. Also a check stat. If I ask toy to roll this you have been gravely hit and need to roll to see how much you suffer.
>Flexibility 1d10, Used to dodge attacks, and hit a critical point on an enemy
>Stamina, 1d10, the higher your stamina, the longer you can perform an action. Running takes stamina for example, does not affect how strong you are.
>Coordination 1d10, Helps you know where your body is, used for dodging and production techniques.

Each stat can be improved by Physical Jewels. When you awaken your Jewels you will gain another stat and all your dice pools will increase by apart from that other stat.
As you cultivate Heavenly Energy and train, your dice for your stats will improve.
Looking at the Patrol leader.
Strength 1d50 (training + Heavenly Energy + weapon) =1d25 for the 4 people with him, of varying degrees of alertness.

I’m UK, so possibly. Maybe advertise in the QTG thread? Probably a lot of people are also unfamiliar with the canon so might not want to try it out just yet.

I wouldn’t worry yet, it’s slow but active even though not a lot’s happened so far, you’re doing better than a lot of starting quests.

Thanks! I'm mainly working with the idea that the PC is next to nothing at the moment, when the first Jewel is earned things will speed us as you can kill more things and the city will place more responsibility on you.

Shilling the thread on QTG seems a bit underhanded, so I think I'll wait for when we hit the second thread.

Def blink skill if we got Spatial, is there a long range teleportation skill as well? i know Saint also has the absolute strongest healing techniques including potential resurrectiona t really high levels, pretty much any skill that boosts speed as a side effect works for our build, especially since we lake physical jewels cause people decided to go elemental instead of Heavenly (I still don't understand why), Lightning is likely to be our main spam offensive element so a good spammable attack would be ncie in there. Water Life are both healing elements, so a combined healing skill fom there, also some regeneration type effect would be good

Basically look at our elements, and think of cool ways so use them. The Silver Emperor skills for example include a spacial slash which deletes things in its path. A basic 3 star water skill would be Water Barrier, a skill that can tank one attack, giving you time to think and plan ahead,
>>3641854
I can organise a short range teleport for when we get there, long range will be 4th gem and beyond. With Life and Saint we can be a really good healer for the main clan in town too.

As an elemental master we dont get to turn our gems into physical equipment like Physical or Heavenly masters get to, so our defense and other physical abilities are permanently underdeveloped, we gonna need to rely on our skills to be effective in combat, and while there are skills that will improve our defense, strength and speed i feel that skills that will boost our coordination and flexibility are much rarer, so better grind these up a bit

Both Jewels then Glimmer sightly, Heavenly Energy moving inside them. Their forms miraculously change. The first Hunter summons a huge Icy Jade Hammer, tipped with a Yellow Jade face. The second man summons a grey coloured long sword. The two start circling each other, neither making a move, until the Hunter with the sword goes for a stab to the chest. The other Hunter blocks the attack, but with some difficulty, using this opportunity, the hunter with the sword then slices downward onto his opponent's leg. He catches it slightly,
The Hammer Hunter falls down on to one knee, abdicating.

>Elemental Knowledge

You take a look at all the buildings, and remember the woman from yesterday night.
The Elemental Knowledge course says today is the study of the darkness element, hosted by the local lord himself. This sounds like an important experience, you has never even heard of the darkness element before.

>The session costs 1 gold, there are 35 students in one room, 10 are Elemental Jewel Masters of some respect.
>You now have 3 Gold

The lord walks in Shang-Dershwa, a tall, robust man, brown hair, a bit scuffled, and dark green eyes,
looking about 30 years old, but looks can be deceiving with Jeweled Masters.
A respectable member of high society you never thought you's have a chance to even see, due to your history as an orphan. He starts of with some basics.
Summoning his 4 Onyx Darkness Jewels, a Low Level Zun Stage Master.

>Roll 1d20 to notice details about his Jewels best of 3

"The Darkness Element is primarily used for sealing, such as with the Skill storing palace up north, which many of you will be aware of, but can be used to bind things to your will in other ways. For example, could one of you volunteer to be a test dummy?" One person steps forward.

You see a glimmer from his 3rd Jewel, then suddenly several tendrils made of pure darkness rush towards the volunteer and cover him in darkness.

"In this state he cannot and will not move, darkness techniques like these can apply to almost anything, including emotions in some cases. I hope you all realise what danger a powerful element can do now." He releases the volunteer, the tentacles disappearing as fast as they appear.

The lecture continues for a few hours. However as you don't know how to write you only remember some of the information.

Also to explain a certain ranking system:
Rudimentary<Basic<Useful<Extensive<Master<Divine
This shows the level of knowledge your character has on a subject. Basic and above allows it to be used in everyday life and beyond. For example your Rudimentary knowledge on Consolidated Equipment doesn't give you much. Your basic Knowledge on the Darkness attribute makes it so you can recognise the element when used.

During the lecture yesterday you immediately realise that although the Lord introduced himself as an Elemental Jewel Master. You saw 4 Yellow Jade Jewels on his right wrist, hidden cleverly by a mixture of long sleeves, distractions with his elemental Stored Skills and only showing his left side, normally hiding his right arm. Why is he hiding the fact he is a Heavenly Jewel Master? More importantly, why is something like the local Lord a Heavenly Jewel Master in the first place, he could become a top member of the clan with that strength.

Your opponent, unlike the first man you sparred with, is much less disoriented, and walks off groggily, no healing required.

You ask him about Stored Skills, you have heard about them during the lecture yesterday, but didn't grasp too much.

Stored Skills are imprints of elemental abilities that come from beings other than humans. Earning one requires being an apparently equal power to the Heavenly Beast in question, and forcing your own Heavenly energy in side it, pulling back Skills.
Stored Skills need Heavenly Energy to be used, but the cost is worth it. They are ranked from 1 Star to 12 Stars. For example the skill you saw earlier was the fire elemental skill Fireball, 3 Stars. Most people travel to the Stored Skill Palace, as they use the darkness element to seal some of the power and fighting spirit monsters have to make the chance of successful storing higher. You can store one skill per Jewel, per element. The more powerful the beast you try and take a skill from, the more difficult it will be to succeed. Most Elemental Jewel Masters get a skill equal to the Jewel it aligns to.
First Jewels tend to have 1 Star Skills. This Hunter here is lucky to have a 3 Star skill on his first Jewel. However, taking a skill from a beast and storing it in a Jewel is permanent. He will have 9 Skills is he reaches the pinnacle of his cultivation.

"Kid, come here for a sec, I need to tell you something, we'e seen your progress in training and think you're capable enough to join the patrol as part of a 4 man team, 2 of you will have heavenly energy, the other 2 not, but all of you have OK combat ability. Remember, anything you kill belongs to the team, so fewer people means you can get more money. Also we investigated the path of that Wind Wolf and the Hunter's who killed it are 85% sure it was lost. So little chance of anything like that happening again."

Thanks to your lecture with the Lord you remember that it is slow, very slow, and can be run away from, but can freeze those of the first and below Heavenly Energy Level if it gets off an attack, only 2 minutes away is the rest of the team, just as equipped to combat it.

Don't worry, on your way home, you will pick up the book as you run past. When I said later I meant later in the patrol.

You dash away as fast as you can, dashing back to the beaten path, the Ice Cap, tried to move, but gets stuck in the ground. Calling for the other patrol members, all 3 respond.
"Those Mushrooms are Heavenly Beasts! I found one and it jumped at me!."
"Shit, We'll go target it as a team, Zou-Do-Shai I need you to stay calm, what happened with the last patrol leader will not happen to us." The leader gives his orders, the two of them with Heavenly energy will attack first and create an opening for you and the other Junior Hunter to attack.

You feel a change within you, you know from the cultivators you have met that normal cultivation techniques involve controlling the small amount of Heavenly Energy in your body, and forcing it into a pattern, the circulation drawing Heavenly Energy from the surroundings into the body, where it expands your Dantian to hold the energy and spread it around the body. This is very different, the energy in your body, something you have never felt before, starts to collect at the crown of your head. It changes something in the meridians there. You feel new Heavenly Energy sprouting from your head, falling, as a gaseous spirit, into your Dantian, Expanding it slightly. You feel little to no energy come from the surroundings.

>Congratulations! You have awakened the first level of Heavenly Energy.

You decide to cultivate, you remember the rush of Heavenly Energy when you broke through and want to try again. The book mentioned you merely need to generate Heavenly Energy to cultivate. You focus on your crown, and start to use the new spiritual organ to create Heavenly Energy, where it flows into your Dantian, not expanding it, just sitting there.

You're struck by a sense of awe. You immediately notice he is a Heavenly Jewel Master, looking at his Pure Red Jade Physical Jewels, then you see his Elemental Jewels, Ruby, Amethyst, a Cat's Eye and Emerald. Then you notice how many he has, 9, this puts him as powerful as the top 10% of people in Dershwa City!

"Good morning Hunters and Junior Hunters, I have come today for a specific reason. Recently the patrols have had unusual reports of Low Level Shi Stage Beasts and variants come close to the city, our analysts have looked at the data and decided we need to take control of the situation sooner rather than later. So we have started an expedition. For those Junior Hunters unfamiliar with them, the Central Hunter's group will be arriving this afternoon, including my advisers to take full command. Tomorrow patrols will be abandoned in favour of finding out why powerful beasts are coming so close to the city, then send a message to the survivors. You will be lead by a Jeweled Master in groups of 50 to thoroughly investigate the forest. Be warned that as you move deeper into the forest the beasts become much stronger, as strong as any Upper Level Zong Stage Heavenly Jeweled Master. So know your boundries. That will be all, I suggest you use the morning to train or learn in preparation for the expedition. Dismissed."

At this point, the 150 or so people who are part of your sector of the forest all leave to do their own thing.

Critical Failure!

The Guard tries to explain to you the principles, about using your mind to feel where your Heavenly Energy is slightly denser, then using that to guide a few specks to one part of your body, from your Dantian to anywhere through your meridians, most importantly, to your wrist, where your Jewels will awaken. However, even hours later, you grasp none of it, a small bit of the Heavenly Energy you cultivated last night fizzles away, into the aether.

"Alright, Lad I can see you're having trouble, why don't we take a brake and try again tomorrow. "
"By the way, I have your unit details ready for tomorrow, you'll be part of the rear guard, one of the weaker groups, as a cultivator they have put you in charge of 4 people, making 10 teams to a group. Good Luck out there!"

>Go meet your team

With the main vanguard moving tomorrow, you decide to meet your team and work out how you'll be fighting. You see 4 people, 3 you recognise as Junior Hunters, and 1 you don't, and looks to be part of the Central Hunters, a young girl, rare for an organisation focused on combat, you don't sense any Heavenly Energy from any of them and all look to be as equipped as you are.

>Talk to one of the men from your own sector(Introduce, ask about the girl

You introduce yourself to the Junior Hunters you recognise, they're surprised that a child is leading them, but know that with your level of Heavenly Energy, you're no slouch. One uses a spear, and focuses on dealing lots of minor damage, another uses pair of knuckles, likes to get in close. The third uses a bow, and is useful for surprise attacks.

>Spearman has 1d25 attack with spear, 1d15 for everything else
>Kuckleman has 1d27 attack with knuckles, 1d13 for everything else
>Bowman has 1d22 attack with Bow and arrows, 1d15 for stats except AGI 1d17

>Ask about the new girl
You ask about the newcomer, they mention she seems..off, not exactly harsh in anyway, but unusually timid for a Junior Hunter. They mention they use a Staff to attack, and seems just as strong as the rest of them

The next morning you awake to the sounds of feet marching, and you take a glimpse outside, trying to see the Vanguard in all its glory. You know that you have this morning to train, but you need to set out this afternoon with your group. You also see a note on the desk next to you, not with words, but crudely drawn pictures, it shows happy children with an old women smiling. You recognise it as something from the Orphanage and decide to take with you as a reminder of your family.

"Now, I'm sure you're wondering why someone like that wants to see someone as weak as me, well it's because of my fancy heavenly energy techniques I'm trying to teach you. Something you have to realise is that beyond a certain rank, only Heavenly Elemental Jewel Masters have a real chance of getting there, but not many have her miracle like luck. She is at the 8th Jewel level, but has not 1, not 2, but 6 elements! She was the perfect pick. A bit feisty in character but her looks couldn't be different, you know, her actual age is probably in the mid 30's, but she looks about your age! Anyway she asked for a private training session to make her cultivation more powerful."

Then take it back again. You can't seem to manage much else but you do notice that your control is in fact improving the Heavenly Energy Generator at the crown of your head.

"Good, good. I need to go now but I need you to know that your job as a group will be to kill the leftovers from the vanguard, just as heads up, good luck out there!"

it's kinda why am salty anons voted to be an elemental master at the begining. In canon pure elemental and pure physical masters are all mooks, with the ones that have more esoteric shit being notable mooks. But Heavenly Jewel Masters are the important ones and far surpass others even at lower cultivation levels

The wiki is available in the OP. Knowledge is power anon, only idiots die of something dumb. Looking at Jewels without asking is rude to some people, especially if they are hiding something about them or are insecure about the number they have. To most people they don't care if people look, they are higher members of society after all. yeah we gonna need to see if we can find a method fo hiding our jewels, at our power level we will be seen as an extremely atractive target for enslavement and potential breeding by the more evil groups, and even the nicer groups will want to bind us to their side by any means necessary. Our potential as a consolidated equipment craftsman is honestly fucking insane as well. "I...I, no not really. I suppose I need to tell you something, my name is Jiang Dershwa. My father, the current primarch of the clan, has had many partners, but when I was born, there were some complications...my meridians are incredibly damaged, apparently someone with the Saint attribute could help me, but my family haven't found anyone yet, Rainbow Moonstone happens to look really similar to Opal and other gems after all. I was raised with protection, but with me turning 14 now, I was told to make a name for myself, even I couldn't cultivate. I haven't even seen monsters in the palace before. "Right right, all is well, I think we're done for this area too. Salutations and all that."
He puts the communicator down and looks at you.
"All done I presume? Any injuries? No? Well do I have some news for you. Firstly the Vanguard called to say things have not been moving as quickly as they'd like, some unexpected gas pockets and nests of monsters a bit way in. Also their scouts have seen a massive abandoned castle way to the east. The on-site analysts think a Heavenly King Stage Wolf is hiding inside, slowly giving birth to even more wolves. So expect a lot of them going forward. We've sent a message back to the City about it and they say we're going to get someone from the state military to handle it. So all being well we should be home within a week."

I have about 2 hours for updates at the moment

>Call backup from stronger group
You think back to that day, how one of these things obliterated a 2nd Level Cultivator. You need stronger backup if it wakes up. You call the group leader after creeping away a bit
"Hm? What? A Wind Wolf? Well if a normal wolf can tear a decent hole in you I guess you really need i t then. Wait there."

A few minutes later you see a man with a crystalline bow slowly tread forward. Then shoot at long range, an arrow of pure Heavenly Energy forming as he drew the string.

With that dealt with, you loot the corpse and bring things back to base.

The group leader calls everyone over for two announcements

"Everyone, I have some bad news, reports from the front lines say Heavenly King Stage Wolf has taken notice of their actions, so we may be in for a rough patch. There is some good news though, please direct your attention to the skies, as the reinforcements or should I say reinforcement will be passing over us very soon."

You look up, you don't see anything at first, then you hear something, a massive roaring, like a continuous explosion.

You see one man, covered on what you think is Consolidated Equipment, but it doesn't look like normal armour or weapons. Two wings stretch out from his back, probably three men long, a massive crystal tube sitting on his back, a helmet and two smaller segmented tubes resting on each wrist. You can't make out any details, because in a matter of moments, the man is gone, taking the sound with him.

"That was the Heavenly King Stage Heavenly Jewel Master sent by the state military, he's special for a few reasons, but the main one are his Physical Jewels, most Heavenly Jewel Masters have one pure element yes? Well he has two, Dragon-stone and Black Jade I think. Dual Mutated Phisical Jewels. That armour he wears is something that allows him to boost the flight speed of a Heavenly King Stage Jewel Master to ludicrous levels. Now all of you, either rest or get back to work!"

You decide to practice the things the Guard showed you.

You normally do your cultivation and training outside, after all, it is very distracting for your teammates, especially Jiang Dershwa. Over the days here, you have become attuned to the heartbeat of the forest. Today it seems erratic. You hear a rustling in the bushes, you run over, thinking it just to be a wild animal, when you see a figure cloaked in black, trying to scramble away

"Wait!, wait I can explain! We're from Derswha."
"We're?"
Two other dark figures stand up, one of them face-palming at the sight in front of him.

"I know miss Jiang thinks we left her all alone here, but we needed to have some way of ensuring her safety whilst allowing her to grow. She's been cooped up in the palace and she needs to step out of her innocence. So her father had her go on the expedition."

A small flash of light appears on the bodyguard's left arm. 6 Onyx Jewels shine on his wrist.

"Just leave us to protect her and we'll leave you alone alright. Oh, and we heard the bit about Shimuko. If you want we can try talking to her now, but we think letting Miss Jiang do it would be better for her."

One of the other bodyguard scoffs.
"Our priority is Miss Jiang. If you happen to live it won't be a problem to us."

The one you found looks at his partner a bit before turning to you.

"Well it's not like we'll try to kill you or anything, you don't seem to be a bad kid. What about Shimuko? She could be a life saver, no pun intended."

"Jiang Dershwa should ask Shimuko herself. Seeing people as powerful as you could scare her off somewhere else and I think Jiang Derswha wants to take that first step."

"Good to hear. If you don't see us in the next few days then we're just doing our jobs. Bye."

For some of the group, they loose their weapons, slowly digested by a blue-purple whip like water appendage coming from the lizard's mouth. However, one of the more powerful Cultivators rips out a small tree, throwing it at the lizard. It catches the trunk with its tongue and that keeps it busy enough for archers to whittle away its stamina, enough to tire it out for the melee Hunters to pummel it to death.

After the corpse has been dealt with the group leader calls everyone over

"Now, I have some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that the Heavenly King Stage Wolf in that castle has been killed, so the expedition's main mission is over. However, we are miles deep in this forest and need to make our way home somehow. We can either wait until tomorrow morning for the Vanguard to pick us up with some transport or set off home now and walk the whole way back. If we set off home now it gives us more time to train and earn some money. If we wait for the Vanguard we get a free ride home, but loose some opportunity to earn a bit more to put food on the table. The way things are looking when we get home and sell our catch we should have enough for 30 gold each, this could be doubled if we walk back and we would have more time to train and spar with each other in a real combat situation. I'll leave the choice to all of you."

You decide to stab it again, it could just be tricking you, but no, your sword sinks in, stopping at a massive sphere in the centre of its body, you decide to rip it out.

>Gained Evil Element Zun Stage core.

The Jewel Master, you see now from the 6 Onyx Jewel on his left wrist, that it is the bodyguard you met one night, not one of the Hunters.

"Holy shit man, you good? Don't worry we've helped everyone we've can, even Princess Jiang. She's a bit angry that we came without her knowing but if she's alive then she can't complain."

The two of you meet up with other Hunters and the two other body guards. There are fewer people than you expected. You don't see the knucleman from your team.

"We think about 20 people are dead, none of them cultivators, but you'know, bit of an issue."

"What happened?"

"After the Heavenly King Stage Wolf was blasted it seems like other strong monsters have been fighting over who will own the castle. One of them looks and probably is a very tough Evil Element beast, what you saw there was a remnant of chunks that sometimes fall off things like this."

"Princess Jiang needs to get home sooner than expected due to this turf war so we need to call in some transport. You wanna come with you just tell me alright?"

You tell the bodyguard you want that life home. After 2 nearly life shattering events where other people have helped you out. You need some time to heal, go back to the orphanage and prepare yourself. Too weak, you think to yourself, I am too weak.

"Good choice I say, some of those things were difficult for even us! Also, as a precaution we're giving everyone a small gift on behalf of the Derswhas as thanks for keeping the Princess alive. We didn't just to body guarding in the days here you know, one us, the gruff one, likes to make things like this from time to time."

He brings out a small silver ring with a tiny ruby encrusted on it.

"This uses a small amount of Heavenly Energy to launch some fire as a deterrent for monsters, use it well.

She looks at you. Eyes widening, body becoming tense as she stands up.

"I don't believe you, not for one second, this is not alright!", 20 people are dead, my own people!" There's a monster war happening under our feet and it turns out my father lied to me about my bodyguards! Nothing is 'Alright' at all!"

She picks up her staff, her normally snow white face turning red.

She is about to swing it at you when one of her body guards grabs her from behind. Stopping her attack.

"As much as we agree that this is a tragedy, you need to learn to appreciate what you have, not mourn what you lost! Calm down"

She slowly puts down her staff, tears forming in her eyes.

"It was....just so horrifying, the sky went red, and everything couldn't stop screaming. I'm going home tomorrow right? Well I have someone to see before then, the team leader says he knows someone with the Saint Element. I don't want to be weak anymore, I want to be able to stop that kind of thing myself."

The bodyguard makes a convincing expression of surprise, before turning to you.

"That's excellent news!" Are you coming with us by any chance?"

You tell him you are.

"Then if your claim is true, consider yourself in debt to the Dershwas."

You nod, and take off to your emergency living quarters after saying goodbye to Jiang Dershwa and the bodyguard.

Jiang Dershwa is a Princess of the head Patriarch of her clan, and with that comes certina history. Being unable to cultivate she is likely disliked, at least in secret, by the palace, a waste of the family name if you will. Her father and her bodyguards do care for her though, and it shows. However it seems growing up surrounded by supermen and superwomen has taught her to fight in a certain way. She moves to quick, or bends her body in way you have only seen from cultivators. It seems when looking for a teacher for her, the palace in its pride, couldn't hire a normal person she could be set a reasonable example from. To be blunt, she is overestimating her limits. You tell her all this even now as she breaths heavily after a a dozen swipes or so.

"I see...then If I want to train, I should ask for people only slightly better than me? That makes sense but I'm not sure father would agree to it. Could you let me hit you so I can find my limits then? I don't want to hit a random stranger and you are a cultivator.

You agree and take of some armour

You take multiple hits to the stomach and arms, but tank them, she is only a normal person after all.

"I think I know how to get better now, thank you for helping me."
She bows, Jet Black hair, something you suspect is inherent to the Dershwa family, falling with it.

One of Hunters runs over to you, apparently in a hurry

"Those weird Jewel Masters say their transport is arriving soon, get there soon or you'll miss it!"

You run to the designated point, "Landing Zone", did the bodyguards call it?

Jiang Dershwa nudges you a bit

"I think you'll like this."

You hear something in the air, similar to the State Military Jewel Master earlier in the week.

A few seconds later, you see a massive metal bird, covered in symbols and crystals of all kinds. The head of the bird has a massive version of the Dershwa symbol on it, the same one on Jiang Dershwa's staff.

"Hop in"

When you get inside you see only 1 man at the helm, Jet black hair like JIiang Dershwa, but 10 glowing Jewels tell you why others do not need to be sent. The groups stuff is also packed in.

Jiang Dershwa sits herself next to the pilot, familiar with him.
You sit next to another teammate, this is the first time you have flown, so you're a bit scared.

"Check check. The flight home will take about 12 hours so be prepared to be sitting down for a long time. We will drop you off in the Palace walls, where you'll be allowed to make your own way home.

When you land Jiang Dershwa runs up to him, the man hugs her back deeply. As you leave however a massive pressure pushes you down, coming from the cloaked man. This man is at the near peak of cultivation, a kind of power you could only dream of. It is too much to handle, and like the rest of the Hunters, succumb to his aura.

You wake up in the Palace, the distinct purple walls glaring at you, you see Shimuko sitting across from you, a tired look on her face.

"Are you all right young man?"
"Yeah?"
"I need to scold you a bit, as you can see the Dershwas....acquired me as soon as King Long Dershwa found about me from Princess Jiang. I am only a Upper Level Shi Stage cultivator, I know I have the Saint Element but it will take time for her meridians to heal properly. As such, I am stuck here until that time, I will not be at the Hunter's Camp you see. "It's a bit late for that now young man. However yes there is something you do for me, not right now, but when you awaken your Personal Jewels of Power."

She lowers her voice, coming in closer.

"You see, this Saint Element of mine is not normal, I did not awaken with it, it was granted to me via a...family ritual of sorts, because of that, I can tell that you will awaken with the Saint Element, so when you awaken those Jewels of yours, I need you to contact me and I can arrange for you to come here and help me with Jiang, my three Jewels will not completely be enough to heal her, but working together we can do it. I can also simultaneously teach you how to use the Saint Element. "

She passes something to you, a white wooden cross.

"Use this to contact me, it only activates via the Saint Element so I will know that you have awakened."

"Now Go!"

You rush as fast as you can to where a few attendants lead you, to find a large room, not with the amethyst walls of the Palace, but a myriad of stained glass windows, made of precious Jewels and other things. In front of you is the old man with the cloak, who you now know as King Long, Patriarch of the Dershwa clan, Jet Black hair and all, Jiang Dershwa in a very expensive dress, adorned with Jewels from head to toe. Then a brown haired young woman wearing similar clothes to Jiang Dershwa.

"Welcome to my home, young Zou-do-Shai, my name is Long Dershwa, what do you think of my humble abode?"

You fall to your knees, remembering the pressure you felt earlier you know not to upset him in any way.

"Oh stand up, I'm here to thank you not crush you."

You stand up warily, eyes widening at the King's informality.

"You see, we Dershwas only believe in three things, Family, Friends and the Future, you happen to be two of those things. I thank you most deeply for finding Miss Shimuko, even if she was hesitant to join, please trust me when I say she will be looked after most carefully."

"Now I don't want to send you home with nothing but a few sentences no! I have nothing but time here, and have spent around 300 years developing our weapon crafting skills, so I will offer you a choice of three gifts."

>1 vote for Sword

>1 vote for either

You pick up the cultivation tool, a sphere decorated with esoteric patterns and symbols you don't recognise.

"Good choice! I have one more gift for you, you see, that tool will do little for you later on in your cultivation, so I will give you something else."

He hands you a solid gold medallion with the Dershwa clan symbol and a few other words you can't read.

"When you awaken as a Jewel Master, this will be very beneficial, it allows you a one time use of this Palace's Consolidated Equipment Chamber or the Stored Skill Palace, for free! A trip like that for most people can cost in the thousands of gold to use them. As soon as you awaken your Jewels you hear! If you happen to awaken multiple Elements I'm afraid you will have to prioritise the one you want, but I can assure you it will be worth your time. It was certainly worth mine! Ah sorry that was just a little joke of mine. One more thing, You are only 14 now, but when you turn sixteen you will be able to join the military. I want to give you my personal commendation to join as one of Jiang's Bodyguards. You are welcome of course to stay with the Hunters but the Dershwa clan puts a lot more into its people than other organisations. I see great things in your future boy, I hope to see you when you awaken your Jewels. Now be off with you, I think not only the Hunters but the orphanage you came from will want to hear all about your trip to the palace!"

He hands you a shimmering note of paper, you learn later it reads "I, as the King of all Dershwa, hereby grant my personal recommendation to accept this citizen as a member of the Officers of Dershwa City." signed Long Dershwa, Patriarch of the Dershwa clan.

You swear as he talks about the "great things" in your future he takes a few choice glances at your left arm. You take one last look at Jiang Dershwa and who must be her mother. Her mother is just as terrifying as the King. 11 Pure Black Jade Jewels sit on her right arm, with 11 Green Jade Jewels on her left. You knew cultivators lived for a long time, but chances are she could be as old as the King. At least 300? You question this as you are escorted out of the Palace, Cross, Medallion, Recommendation and Cultivation Tool in hand.

You leave the palace, a sense of awe, pride and fear filling you. You had never heard much about the King, but you never expected him to just be a kind old man, a father who cares about his daughter like any other.

Its been about two weeks since you left home, in that time you have seen 2 massacres, one by the Wind Wolf, the other by the Evil Element beast. You need to see your family again, or you may never see them before you die like them.

It takes a few hours to navigate the centre city, but when you make it to the outskirts finding the orphanage is easy. You knock on the door. The old woman in charge of the place answers.

"Hmmm? If it isn't our Zou-Do-Shai! Have you found a job yet? It's only been a fortnight since you left, do you need anything? Let me get some food."

Before she can run you bring her into a hug, she's a bit confused, until you start to cry, babbling about monsters and madness.

"I see, well let me tell you that everything's going to be fine, your a strong boy. Being a Hunter isn't easy, but I can tell you've become so powerful even in this short span of time. Look at those muscles!"

She brings you inside, telling you that dinner will be ready soon and that people from the orphanage are always welcome to the table.

Whist it's been nice visiting your friends and family, you need to the Hunter's camp as soon as possible. So you hand the old woman 5 Gold, a sizeable amount, then trek your way back to the camp.

The Guard is the first one you see, his eyes light up. Happy to see you again.

"Lad, where the hell were you! I thought you were one of the dead folk they keep talking about from the expedition. Ah who cares, you're alive anyway, that's what's important."

He pats you on the soldier, this time you feel the impact much less due to your increased endurance.

"Hmmm, did you break through to the second level whilst on the expedition or something? You seem...different."

You start to speak, but the Guard stops you.

"Hang on, this looks like it might take awhile, lets get inside."

A few minutes later, the Zun Stage Evil Element core, White Wooden Cross, the Cultivation Tool, the Ruby Ring and the Recommendation letter all rest in front of you and the Guard. He's been thinking on what to do with each, and he comes to his decision.

"This is only my personal opinion of course, but I think firstly, you need some proper rest. Keep the cross, tool, core and ring, two of them are gifts from the King himself, the cross we'll need if we need to help out Shimuko, she wasn't too happy about being locked up inside a palace for a long period of time, keep the ring, at least in the future you can always sell it or something, you can also sell the core, it will go for around 700 gold here but traders in the City might buy it for more at auction. It's that letter which troubles me the most, the only reason the King would so openly do something like this were if he had some big plans for you, but you're only a Second Level Cultivator, I got there at 15 and never broke through, the same could happen to you, yet the King has faith you will become strong enough to protect a princess! Be warned, he may seem like a kind old man but this country was founded on war and bloodshed, all started by his actions. How do you think they have so many Jewels in the first place? Any way we'll talk more tomorrow, you've had an exhausting day, you need some sleep."

To you personally, no, but to other people? Yes, but you would need to hold onto it until you meet Demon Hammer again, which by that point, the chances of you killing another Evil Element beast are pretty high.
>Mass Funeral

You decide to follow the Guard to the funeral, across all 7 days of the expedition, 28 people had died, the majority in the massacre you were nearly a victim of. You think about these men and women's last moments, hearing a horrible screaming finally shouting its method of murder, a bloody mass squelching in delight. It makes you glad to stand here, and not be in the ground with them. You send your regards to the brave Hunters who died, one you yourself fought and talked with. It is a funeral like the morning that preceded it, grim.

When the funeral is over the Physical Master equivalent to Shimuko tells everyone that all Hunter activities will halt for the day, and that tomorrow would be a day off in respect for the fallen.

The Guard comes over too you.

"Kid, I need to tell you something, as you are now a Second Level Cultivator, you have no right to be called a Junior Hunter, so you're being promoted! Congratulations new Hunter! You'll be getting a new uniform to replace the junior one you have now."

>Heavenly energy Control
>>
>>3660858
If we're purely learning to read rather than write, I think that should cut costs down by not having to purchase ink and paper? Aside from that, there's the potential of using a slate or shallow box of sand that we can draw in, to cut down costs.

As for the teacher, there's obviously no other option unless we can teach their kid some swordsmanship or something in exchange, but I would think it's somewhat useful anyway.
>>
>>3660903
If you are only learning to read, you will not need writing materials, only books to read from, however these can cost varying amounts of money, so the Hunters have streamlined the process to write as well, to ensure things like signatures and details can be recorded on important documents.

>Heavenly Energy Control training

You go see the Guard.

"Lad, remember what I said about those animal-human but not beast civilisations? Well I'm going to give you a crash course before we begin."

>If it has enough intelligence, anything can cultivate, even animals, even beasts. When beasts reach higher planes of existence, they become more intelligent, closely resembling humans. If two beasts of this state have children, what looks like a normal human is born, yet as they grow older their hair colour, eye colour and attitude will change to represent the animal they are born from. These people belong to a new species. Human-like intelligence, cultivation and empathy, they act and look like you and me.
>Only a few species have recorded actually forming civilisations. Even then, it is only the predators that lead them
>Dragons, Tigers, Wolves, Eagles, Lions, Spiders and Rats are just a few examples of these evolved beasts forming cities. However to reach them you would have to travel through the wasteland on the west side of Dershwa City, a place where powerful monsters battle and call home, it is where the Hunters focus their hunting efforts.

The Guard puts a lot more effort into teaching you today, not only because he realises you are close to a breakthrough, but he himself has more Heavenly Energy than has ever has in his life, and wants to us every drop.

>Success, but it's still out there. It will not forget you. This should be an indication on what Element is winning this turf war (Evil). Reminder that you still need another core.

Writing for 8am UK time tomorrow. I need to sleep. Thank you for playing everyone!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Night! Now back to screaming in preparation for next time.

You use the technique you learnt yesterday to boost your agility to unimaginable heights, running as fast as the wind itself away from it, anywhere away from it, until you find yourself in a new area of the forest. Whether or not that thing was real or not confuses you, you are at least out of its sight. For now. You check your bags, you don't have enough loot to be counted as a successful hunt. You need to fight again. Looking around, you see a plume of spores, billowing, moving, getting more ferocious as time goes on. A Nature Element beast is reproducing. Dying and leaving tens of weaker spawn to carry on its lineage.

Player Choice
>Head towards the spore storm.
>Roll 1d100 best of ONE for an encounter (A roll will count as a vote)

Voting will finish in 20 minutes
>>
Or not, I'll take the first vote then. First come first serve.

Don't like that spore storm.

>39
>Not going for the easy kill with your fire ring.

That spore storm looks dangerous, and you decide to make your way home, using the castle, now visible in the distance with your increased coordination and eye sight as a marker of where you are in the forest to find another monster

You come across a small section of the forest where it seems a bit darker, not like impossible to see dark, but it is discernibly dimmer. Your eyes spot in trees whilst checking for the castle again a teenage Black Cat, not yet fully able to use its powers, merely watching you from its perch.

>Darkness Element focuses on sealing
>Black Cat is normally found in the Low Level Shi Stage strength

Player Choice
>Attack with Sword via throwing (STR), but will loose the Sword until you grab it back
>Wait to see what it does
>Boost a stat (What?) (How much?)
>Leave it alone
>Prepare to Dodge (COORD or AGI)
>Other? (What?)
>>
>>3663873
>Wait to see what it does
>Resist urge to pet the kitty

Might want to make a new thread sometime soon, QM.

Rolled 13 (1d22)

I know, I just trying to find out how to archive this thread. This is my first quest, so I'm struggling a bit. If you have any suggestions please let me know, I know there is a site called something like "This is not a true reading", but I tried searching for it and never found it.

>Wait to see what it does
The cat stiffens up, it can smell something on you apparently, and doesn't trust you one bit. Even if you wanted to pet it, it doesn't look so cute anymore. It lunges at you, claws drawn, you didn't prepare to do anything, so you become the mercy of its claws.

Rolling 1d22 for damage
You take 2 less damage due to Hunter's Uniform

Player Choice
>Attack with sword
>Endure
>Dodge
>Run
>Other? (Write-in)

Go to
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html
On the left hand side there's the 'request interface' button.
When you click that, use this thread number 3638342, and quest name and description. For the tags, use 'Collective Game, Heavenly Jewel Change Quest, wuxia' etc so people can find it easily in future.

>Attack with sword

Thank you! I'll archive the quest at the end of the day in game, then make a new one.
>Attack with sword
>Roll 1d55 best of three to attack
Rolling 1d40 for Black Cat to run up a tree

Also, your STA is now 19.

Could you roll a 2d55 for me please?

>51 vs 36
Success!
You deal 51 Damage!
The Black Cat is dead.

Its claws drag into you, blood pouring all over it, liquid darkess starts pouring from its paws, preparing to move through any shadow it can find.

However, you're faster, and a clean blow to the head kills it with little difficulty. You loot the corpse, finding a small black core and nothing else.

With enough materials for a successful hunt, you walk home, damaged and without any Heavenly Energy, you need to cultivate and rest. It is the evening by the time you come home.

After selling your loot you gain 8 gold.
You have 63 Gold.

Player Choice for the Evening
>Cultivate
>Train Heavenly Energy Control with the Guard
>Train Sword Technique
>Sleep (Bonus to a random stat training next morning)
>Go to a Pub in the City
>Other? (Write-in)

Voting will be finished in 20 minutes, then I can archive this thread, and start the next one.

The fuck! It's like 3am for you or something go back to sleep!
>>
>>3664044
fell asleep at like 6 PM is 4:15 an right now, am up and i aint going back down. Also someon tried to pet a demon cat and ignored a low level nature beast despite us havign a ring that makes fire, im staying
>>
>>3664039
>Cry over the cat

>>3664046
It's a kitty! You have to pet kitties even if they're tearing your throat out!
>>
>>3664048
it was a darkness element demon beast... and cats are asshole
>>
>>3664048
You do have the potential to tame really weak creatures when you become so strong they can't hurt you. For now however almost everything can kill you. So no petting the murder kitty alright! Even if the Darkness Element are second in the race for the castle.

>>3664051
Since beasts mainly cultivate intelligence, they tend to be nicer to their masters.
>>
>>3664053
Cats are assholes, tigers are tolerable and I aint gonna trust aany beasts unless we find them when they are babies, use a darkness skill to seal them or are stupidly stronger than them
>>
>>3664054
Cats just tend to be indifferent to me, if not friendly. Its feral cats that have the people skill problems, never stop and think to consider your side of the story. So you have to be careful.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d2)

20 minutes are up! Rolling 1d2 for choice
>>
...i dont think the cry over the cat is an actual suggestion
>>
>>3664068
Now now, salt is put on food, not in quests.

Archiving the thread, see you in the next one in roughly 30 minutes!
>>
>>3664068
>>3664071
It wasn't a real suggestion, but oh well.

>>3664054
But - kitties.
>>
>>3664071
When you make a new thread by the way, it might say there's a problem with the image. Open the picture and add a different pixel somewhere, then upload that image for the title.

New thread is up!
