The primary objective is to weather this attack, and repel the enemy, which numbers approximately 60. Our primary advantage is the enemy is primarily a melee-focused force, and we have narrowed the front they can engage.

I strongly advise against deploying in the Fore without having a plan for rapid retreat. I would prefer if we primarily fought between the two spike strips in the Teeth.

Enemy cavalry should be considered critical targets, followed by any unique leader units.

This is an endurance match, not a sprint. So try to keep yourselves healthy and call for help if needed.

In the deep mountains of Iberia, many of Goldjoy's soldiers were held captive as tensions are still high. Overseeing the whole exchange was Donovan Durandal , a recurring name in mine notes and currently something of of a Retainer to Thurdson Goldjoy much to his admirers' dismay.

To begin with, he has seen 1000 battles in and out of the Tree, and slain a few dragons himself as a Commander in the Right Army. Technically she should have already died, but as he says it, wearing the armor fashioned by the GoldJoys' master craftsmen keeps him alive. But that isn't where his reputation stems from.

It's because of his austere strategies that the numbers under the 13 Banners didn't buckle against the might of wyrmkind- when all other accounts would put subjugation armies into martyrdoms.

So then why did he -

Fernand stood up, one arm to his side. He paced the room lightly, a calculated gaze betraying what would otherwise seem to be contemplation. After a thoughtful tilt of the head and a scratch of his chin, he spoke to the guards. "Release this man from his chains, then get Cicero for me. Wait outside with him until I request you. No one else may bother us." He waited until he was alone with the prisoner , and the dust falling on an unseen current.

"I'm not a knight, I'm a monster hunter. Honor is a foreign concept to such creatures of the night, and those who hunt them. But you know plenty of honor, apparently. So I'm going to leave this in your hands." With a flourish, Fernand pulled a knife out of his cloak, and flipped it around in front of Donovan's gaze. The dust diffused lightly, and a faint weight fell on Donovan's shoulders. "A knife can point in many directions, it only requires imagination. You can point it at yourself, if your honor so dictates. You can point it at me, if instead it demands a final struggle before the bloodletting. You can point it at those who would enslave you, and sever the bonds of servitude. Or you can sheathe it and let the world continue to decay. I fear that we have long been robbed of peace as an option."

I suppose you're all rather interested in how this tale got here. Well, dear reader, for my name is Geiger Gram, the New Owner and Proprietor of 1/6th of Serpico and her surrounding territories and yes, dare I say even the subsumed ones that were taken in by the Arm of the Collectors.

As I was saying. Serpico's fortune did not simply turn overnight- well technically it actually did, for when it was known that the Uncrowned had fought the Goldjoys' punitive forces, a larger more massive muster was being collected, aye- one would say it was the biggest one yet.

During such a time our intrepid thief, Keys had - with some minor difficulty swiped the registry and I - with my small fortune inherited by so many favours, had also begun to pay off what needed to be, copied the rest for our friends in the battlefield, and promptly burned the rest.

Meanwhile, Thurdson , Skendson, and Furstson Goldjoy were systematically Handicapped, Ransomed, and Killed by their elder counter part respectively when offered to make demands. Who knew that their greed would pull them into the same pattern of treachery as the rest of their ilk. Certainly not THIS merchant.

This pattern repeated of course until they made their way to the very tippy top, the Goldjoy Patriarch- and the lesser known Matriarch. . . ..

Now imagine if you will , a golden meadow and our intrepid heroes, marching onto their estate , 100 to one. That is , 100 of Goldjoy's former mercenary so recently bought out and reused by none other than Donovan Duran himself- and here's why.

When at last your hardworking merchant and his covert associate finally did pay off every possible lendor's lendor's lendor's lendor - it became apparently clear that our friends at the Notary consistently kept up this game, to create a perpetual vortex of with which to line their pockets with. And so with me , who is in debt , with me - made it known that at least there is no such thing as money left in the world, the Soldiers who had no hope of finding any compensation for their collapsed their ranks one after another like so much coppers spilling out of a tax collector's courier bag.

The children gasped, as Gram took another hit of opium.

" Yes, an indescribable battle took place, with monsters of the dark, with a hunter of the dark, and yes- even a survivor of the greatest war against the dark, together these forces clashed ! But the demon was STRONG ! He Overpowered Durandal's mortal body easily ! And he damn nearly destroyed that psychopath and his face-wearing friend of his as well !

And that wasn't all - the dead rose up - the victims rose up. The room rose up, and all the bodies started dancing the dance of death unlike any one has ever seen. Even with his mercenaries , the yellow lot of them dwindled in number, not a single man who served under the Goldjoys would even face this monster or get between our hero and The Beast in order to protect them. But someone eventually did, "
