You sit in a meditative position, crossed legged, on a cliff. Overlooking the vast ocean as the sun cast its first rays ushering in another dawn. Waves break against the cliff's ancient face wafting a salty breeze to your face carried by a stray wind. A smile graces your face at the beauty of it, but it quickly leaves. A small surge of anger and sadness washing over you like the waves do to the stone below. For you wonder if you've seen any others sights that hold such beauty but merely cannot remember them.

You awoke on this small peaceful island several months ago. When you came to you had no memories.

Thankfully they have returned slowly, but surely. Bit by piece they come back and put together a picture of a larger whole.

Some of the first to come back were that which you could never forget, home.

What is your Homeplane?
> [Earth] - Steel, concrete, and lightning. You home is far more advanced than others, but drifts far and quiet from the rest of the multiverse, those not from here are unlikely to ever find it. Before you left moments after your spark ignited you felt something that terrified you to your core, your home is dying.
> [Zendikar] - A lush plane of deep oceans, ancient forest, and ancient relics. This plane is rich and bountiful with mana, but that is also what drew the very creatures that sought its destruction.
> [Ravnica] - A plane-spanning city that is controlled and fought over by various guilds seeking to further their own goals, but for now you rebuild after the devastation of the Nameless. Though the guilds are currently focused on rebuilding old rivalries are bound to flare, even under the eye of Niv-mizzet, reborn as the guildpact.

always bet on tech, if earth is 21st century earth then that means the other planets are primitive or medieval which means we wont be able to find any reliable non magical things

Honestly I voted for it simply because its going to be a hell of a lot easier to find magic rather then tech in the future. So I would rather have the tech since we can easily compensate for the magic from now on. Tech on the other hand...not so much.

Earth, that's the name of your home. A strange place in the multiverse it sleeps quietly adrift at the edge. What few memories you are able to piece together tell you your home isn't like others, no dragons soar the skies, no leviathans stalk the depths (to you knowledge), and no other fantastical creatures haunt the woods. What forest are there are also puny and childish compared to those of the other worlds. And you have a feeling you know why.

When you try to think of your last day on Earth, before your spark awakened and you were cast adrift. Things are spotty at best. You remember a dreadful overwhelming fear as you ran from... someone? something? Perhaps a bit ironically you cannot remember what it was that inspired so much fear it awoke in you something that is nearly gone on your Homeplane. It drove you to a roof, no escape. You decided to take the leap instead, and moments before you hit the ground, you vanished.

But in those precious few seconds as your spark sputtered to life and you felt the mana of the world for the first time. You realized earth is dying. Something is taking the mana of your plane, draining it of life slowly over hundreds of thousands of years. Like some parasite sucking the marrow from the bones of its host.

Though whatever it was that drove you to awaken still haunts you as you try to sleep. You don't think you'd have gotten a good nights sleep in months if it wasn't for the one who saved you, when you appeared out of nothing wounded and dying.

What is your color affinity?
>[Colorless] - You are devoid of a specific affinity at all and instead are attuned to mana that is closer to raw aetheric energies of the Blind Eternities than its colored-kin. Some would regard you as closed off but know who you are at heart after a time. Contraptions, constructs, the ancient, and the artificial resonate with you most. [You can still use all 5 colors with colorless but you have less finesse with them.]
>[Blue] - You are centered around blue mana. The closest mana to that of sorcery and magic blue is the color of logic, technology, and knowledge. It is also the color of water and ice and has srong ties to those elements. You have an affinity for magic, logic, and water/ice.
>[Red] - The color of emotion, fire, freewill, and the illogical. Those of this color are usually strong willed and independent, if not rash and quick to action. They tend to always go against the norm and will seek to change it even if it may harm them. Freedom, emotion, and rebellion resonate with you.
>[Green] - Green, color of the natural world. Nature down to its most ancient core typically has a strong connection to green mana and in turn those with an affinity for it reflect its wild nature. Green typically seeks to change and withstand rather than fight and destroy.
>[Black] - Color of death, undeath, deception, trickery, and amorality. Many would consider black to be the closest to the personification of evil in the multiverse, due to what it is associated with and that it is typically the center of demons.
>[White] - Morality, law, and order resonate with this color strongly. Those with a center of white shall stand against the dark that would threaten others and find allies easily.
>[Combo] - You are aligned with two colors that overshadow the others in your heart.

When you appeared on this island you were wounded, a small hole in your lumbar, and poisoned. Fever gripped you for several days and you likely would have died. Fortunately for you however an elderly man also called this island home. With time he was able to calm you in your delusions and managed to carry you back to his home. He was a man who'd left for this island to study, write, and live in peace. But he told you in all his years he'd never seen a poison like the one that sought to snuff out the flame of your life. The way he describes it your skin was a pallid white, your veins turned black like oil and pulsed with a life of their own, and no matter how hard he tried for days he could not awake you.

In fact he could not even save you from it. On the fourth day the poison spread to your heart and brain and you gave out a spasm before your heart stopped and the poison began to recede having done its job. A fuzzy memory works its way to the front of your mind. Your heart has stopped and you begin to feel yourself pass on. You see yourself lie below on a simple straw bed. You hair is matted and stuck to you with sweat. The elderly man, Rodmend Bromwell stands over you and yells. "Dammit lad! I've spent too much time on you to let you die!" He grasp your body by the shoulders and gives it a shake. "I'm trying to save you but I can't do it all! YOU HAVE TO FIGHT!" Your body gives no response other than a roll of its lifeless head. He mutters a few curses under his breath before stepping back. He stands unsure of what to do before his face takes on a look of determination. Slowly he begins muttering in a strange tongue under his breath and his hands are consumed by a white light. He seems to think of placing his hand on your chest but changes his mind. Instead he grabs you be the collar of your shirt and smacks you with one and than the other, and on the second one you feel your spirit rocketed back into your body.

That was several months ago, and here you've rested since regaining your strength and memories. But over the past few weeks a growing dread follows your every thought. You don't know how, but you feel that whatever killed you in the first place is still hunting you.

But you try and distant those thoughts for now and finish basking in the sunrise.

With a wistful sigh you pick yourself up and decide it best to leave back for Bromwell's, old bastard was probably up already. On the way there you stopped by the forest, or at least that's what Brom called it even though it was a few acres of trees. You spent the next few hours picking some low hanging mangoes and climbing the trees. With a shirt worth of fruit and a pocket of berries you decided to get the chewing from Brom out of the way.

You walked up the simple stone path he made to his home. In your own opinion his home was certainly odd. It was actually underground, carved into a dugout made in a large hill on the west of the island, some part of you wanted to call it a hobbit-hole. From the top of the hill jutted a lighthouse.

You threw the door open, and the acrid smoke from the candles that greeted your face did in fact confirm that Brom was already up. Making your way through the hoarders mess of books, scrolls, and alchemical ingredients you set the food down on the kitchen table and heard the scribbling of a quill against paper coming from Brom's desk. "Brought some food Brom." You said grabbing one of the Mangoes and taking a bite. A dismissive "Eh." was your answer.

"Need any help?" You ask hopefully. Brom had spent the last several months trying to find reference to something, like the poison that killed you, in his books.

"Yah can help by getting better, and pissing off."

You flip him off behind your back and with nothing to do rummage through his papers. A small book slides off a nearby pile, being disturbed for the first time in probably years. You see a glint of metal beneath. Brushing aside several papers a blade is revealed beneath the pile.

"Yah doing something back there?"

You pull the old blade from pile and brush the dust away with your fingers. The blade is a beautifully crafted scimitar, the maker clearly put their heart and soul into it. Taking it you head towards Brom's desk. He looks up for a moment and upon seeing it looks away with mildly hidden disgust, only making a 'tch' sound.

"What is this?" You ask looking for answers.

"It's junk what do you think."

"Is it yours?"

"Once upon a time yes, yes it was. But now it gathers dust as it should."

"...would you teach me how to use it?" You ask quietly.

The quill stops for the first time since this morning and he turns slowly in his chair with a sigh. His face is impassive regarding you with neither anger or joy. "And why should I do that? You are a Planeswalker after all, wouldn't you prefer something on magic I'm sure I could find some books around here. If they'd get you to leave me alone."

Throwing fireballs from my eyes and lightning from my ass is sure to draw a whole lot of unwanted attention. If people use swords on most planes that won't stick out as a sore thumb for the witch burning mob or the anti magic inquisition or fizzle out against the smart magekiller with anti magic shit.

"Wait come to think of it if Planeswalkers like me are as rare as you've said than how do you know so much about them?" You say realizing for the first time that he seems to know a lot about what, by his own claims, should be an elusive subject. He looks at you with shock at the question for a moment before it leaves and he quickly dismisses your question with a wave the hand.

"Bah you're trying to change the subject. What you should be telling me is why I shouldn't throw that sword into the ocean, with you attached." He says. You consider bringing up the fact he's changing the subject himself, but decide you might as well interrogate a brick.

"Because... if I really am what you say than I need to be able to defend myself." He raises his eyebrow and leans back, and you can't help but feel if you're winning him over. "What if I'm ever without magic, hell I don't even know how to use magic! What if I end up on Salem witch trials the plane! I can't be shooting lasers and shitting lightning without being noticed!"

"No need to be so descriptive..." He seems to be arguing with himself and you hear him mutter under his breath. "That's a lot of "what ifs"." Signing and pinching his eyes shut he rest his hand over his head as if hiding a migraine. "Very well. I'll teach you."

"Yes!" Your arm shoots up in triumph.

"But! You need to tell me what you want to learn."

"What do you mean?" You ask.

"Huh, this is going to be a long month." He says rubbing his eyes. "Knowing how to swing a sword without decapitating yourself isn't enough, there's a reason fighting styles exist. I know several but I need you to tell me which." Sitting you down he takes several hours to explain to you the style she knows and their various advantages.

You tell Brom you're interested in the solar style. He says in a dour tone. "Why am I not surprised." Grabbing a nearby walking stick he leads you out of the house. Images of you gracefully cutting down hordes of evil creatures fill your mind. Just as you begin to imagine yourself as some interdimensional Geralt/Conan does Brom stop. Using his walking stick he pushes the branches out of the way and leads you into a clearing, where he sits on a nearby boulder. "Go gather up some wood and vines, roots will do though if you can't find any."

"What?!" You shout. You were expecting actual fighting, not this karate kid crap.

"Well I'm too old to train you myself, properly at least, so I'm going to make your tutors. Now find my wood or piss off." With a grumble you leave and after several hours have assembled a nice pile of wood, branches, and roots. Brom gives an approving nod after regarding it for a while. Like so long ago, when he rescued you, he closes his eyes, mutters a strange tongue under his breath, and his hands take on a green-white glow this time. Before your eyes the wood knits itself together like the muscles of its creature, the more flexible roots making the joints, and before you three small wooden constructs take shape. Each carries a staff, they only reach about your chest, and they all face you. Sweat covers Brom and mats his hair and when you move closer to help him he merely waves you off. "Just... took more out of me than I... remember. I'll be... fine. Just need a second."

The next month you devote your time to sparring with the creatures. Though sparring isn't really the word for it. More like a month long beating, to be honest. "Nope, awful, disgraceful, even your ancestors felt shame on that one." Brom comments from his perch on the boulder. As the sun sets and once again you fail to defeat the golems rage overtakes you. Lashing out with all your might you strike true with your weapon, planting it in the head of tallest of them. It gives a shudder and drops to the ground.

You give a shout of triumph before one jumps on your back and the other starts beating on your shins.

"Well you're getting better. But between you and an anemic toddler... I'd still put my money on the toddler."

[Sabre/Scimitar: 5] - You've received the most basic of training and instruction in the use of these curved one handed blades, but lack any real experience or skill. To a professional you are lower than a floundering child, in fact the child might best you.

I'll also explain the skill levels for the various magics and martial skills and styles you can pick up.

Skill levels
1-20: Novice. Minor Training.
20-40: Adept. Well trained but lacking.
40-60: Expert. Well trained and experienced they're truly skilled in their art.
60-80: Master. A true master of their field attained through years of dedication, few can ever surpass this.
80-100: Paragon. A true prodigy of your era, it's very possible no normal mortal on whichever plane you're visiting can match you.
100+: Godlike. Those who wish to oppose even the weakest god need bring their skill to this level if they hope to survive.

Paragon and Godlike must be acquired through exceptional rolls, greater time devotion, ancient knowledge, or unnatural enhancements and can not be progressed like the previous stages.

>[Sabre/Scimitar: 9] - You've received the most basic of training and instruction in the use of these curved one handed blades, but lack any real experience or skill. To a professional you are lower than a floundering child, in fact the child might best you.
>[Swords: Solar Style: 4] - A style based around elaborate dance like moves that use the sword like an extension of the body. Those who use this style flow through battle like a river, and preserve the energy of their moves, never stopping. A useful style for taking on large hordes of lesser opponents. You are barely a novice of this style but are beginning to understand it. Though you still can't use it without endangering yourself.

Briefly you consider giving up on it and trying another style but are instead filled with determination to master this art that escapes you. "Again!" You shout clambering to your feet. You can't be sure but you could have sworn you saw Brom smile.

The next few weeks are brutal, and every night you go to bed bruised, and wake up sore, but ever day you train, and you fight with the same resolve. Brom is always prodding and your ass gets kicked every way to Sunday by the little vicious bastards he calls your tutors, your shins and knees may never by the same again.

But as the last week of the month draws to a close you feel you've made real progress. Your, you mean Brom's sword feels lighter, faster, and your tutors actually have to go on the defense every once in a while.

The Solar style turns out to be a lot more complicated than you thought at first and at first you doubted you were even picking it up. But a few days ago as you slashed one of the tutors across the face you kept moving with your swing, and in one swift motion twirled around taking off the arm of another.

But during this last week something has been haunting you. The sound of hunting horns and the wild drum have returned with the sense of dread. You twist and turn in your sleep the past few days awaking every night from nightmares. Today you can barely move out of bed from fear, the horns sound so much more real now, and the drum grows louder like a hammer bashing against the inside of your head.

You talked to Brom about it and he gave no wise advice or insults like usual and just decided to call off training today.

Now you sit together at the dining table a bowl of nuts, some smoked fish, and a couple of pieces of sliced fruit for dinner. "You're still awful, but... the potential is there." Brom comments and you both share a laugh.

As you're finishing up dinner the unexpected happens, and there is a knock at the door. A monotonous and measured thunk that repeats. You feel a terror you wish you couldn't remember begin to well in your heart, seeming to suck out the light and warmth of the room. You look to Brom who looks at the door and seems confused and concerned himself. "Now who could that be?" He says. The nearest landmass he's told you of is two hundred miles away.

Banishing the terror you gather as much courage as you can and head towards the door.

As you stop a few feet from it the knocking ceases as well. Your hand shakily extends and grabs the iron handle of the door.

Slowly opening it up reveals a tall man on the other side. A black cloak covers most of his body exposing only the gauntlets on his arms, and the steel mask on his face.

And all at once you feel your heart seizes. It comes back to you at once. The thing that was chasing you in your memory of your last day on earth. The fog and haze of your mind lifts revealing his form chasing you through the city, and his beast at your heels. He nocks an arrow and it finds purchase in your gut as you leaped from the roof of the building he cornered you on.

"Hello little fox." He says in a cold reverberating voice that seems to suck the warmth from the air. "Hiding on my own Homeplane very clever."

"Hiding? No I just waiting for somebody to visit me. By the way... What the heck are you?!" You say trying to hide your fear, and focus on your genuine curiosity. The figure stand there impassively for a moment making no moves, or any real reaction as its hard to see under all that armor. To your surprise he lets out a loud raspy laugh.

"In all my years this is a first. I have seen many things from my prey. Defiance, cursing, denial, fear, but humor is a first. I thank you. It's been many years since I've laughed. I hope when your soul passes the frigid damnation of the drowned is gentle to you." He takes one of his right clawed gauntlet out from under his cloak and raises it over his shoulder. "But my master has waited long enough, she will be glad to see I've brought her an awakened spark, and I will not be denied my trophy."

He clenches his fist. You hear a shrill whistle pierce the air and before you can react an arrow flies over his shoulder hitting you square in your own. The breath is knocked from your lungs and you stumble back grabbing onto the wall for support. With little care he pulls aside his cloak revealing several weapons. Choosing an axe he unclips it and raises it preparing to deal a finishing blow.

From behind you hear. "Down boy!"

You quickly do as told and throw yourself to the ground. The figure looks up in confusion for a moment before a large ball of fire meets his chest and throws him from the doorway with incredible force.

'Damn.' You think as he goes tumbling for a few dozen feet throwing up grass as he nearly plows through the ground. He's brought to an end though when he slams into a tree and you can hear the snap from here.

A hand grasp your shoulder and you hear. "Up boy, we need to go."

With a pained grunt you're able to pull yourself off the floor when you notice the arrow is still in your shoulder. Before you decide to do anything with it you hear a long low blow of a horn. You both cast your gaze outside and find the figure is blowing on what looks like a hunting horn, even though his neck and limbs are all bent different angles than they should be.

"We need to get out of here quick." Brom says. He's out of breath and gripping onto his staff with all his might, you feel he doesn't have another of those fireballs in him. "There's a little cove to the east, I have a boat there, or you could always try Planeswalking." He says quickly. One of the figures legs gives a loud snap and returns to normal.

>Try to make a run for the boat.

With only slight hesitation you grab onto Brom and feel yourself slide out of tune with plane and drift into the Blind Eternities in flash of heavenly light.

You find yourself returned to the Blind Eternities, a place you'd both hoped and dreaded ever seeing again. It is the space between all planes, the gap of the multiverse, from where all mana flows, a storm of ancient beings without form, and the birthplace of all aetheric energy. Your form feels thin and taut as if trying to burst, the very energy of your being both overwhelmed and seeking to return to its birthplace. The only thing that stops you from being reduced to nothing in the violent roil is your spark, a very piece of the eternities etched into your very soul.

You quickly try and look for another plane, anything! To attune yourself to. Your vision blurs and things begin to lose meaning. Several orbs of mana and matter fill your vision, a part of you tells you that they're what you're looking for. But each is different and you can't be sure what they are as they warp and change form as all begins to bend. They probably aren't even what you think, just a mind trying to process something indescribable beyond its grasp.

Home, far away you feel its call.

Bringing all your might to bear you try and home in on the call you felt from it. Pulling yourself through the formless nature of this realm you find yourself "above" your home. The sight of your plane from afar breaks your heart. It is frayed like an old and ragged ball of twine, the energy that the others seem to swell with barely exist as a trickle in yours. Even with your lack of experience its easy to see the damage that has been done to your home, and you may be the only one who knows the danger it faces of simply... ceasing.

Your pulled out of thought and concentration though as you remember you brought Brom with you. You feel him slipping and as you look to him... you see it's not because he's fading or overwhelmed. His soul... it shines bright and pushes back the consuming Aether. He...he's a Planeswalker like you! But he's confused and trying to pull back to the more centralized planes. The man himself is looking at you with a determined look, but the spark inside him is tugging him away from this foreign edge.

Quickly you begin descending and pull everything you have in trying to descend and help Brom find his rhythm with your weak Plane.

With every instinct have you try to force yourself close to your house as possible.

Home is...

As you get closer and closer you think of home and try to direct yourself there as much as possible. You think of your gravel driveway and the path up to your home and begin to leave the Blind Eternities and are rocketed into the driveway of your home.

With a sickening lurch you drop to your knees, as you believe you left your stomach a few Planes back. The arrow in your shoulder also reminds you of its presence with a dull throb. You feel Brom's hand on your, good, shoulder and he pulls you to your feet. "Up boy, now where are we?"

"Home."

"Well good, so this isn't considered a break in." He says dragging you to the front door. "Key?"

"Hold on a sec." You say as you feel around the frame of the door and find the part where a spare key has been lodged under the edge.

You both enter and flip on the lights. Your house is pretty bare and simple. Couch, fridge, bed and a spare, TV, desk and a computer. But it don't need much upkeep. You have solar panels for power, a small windmill, and a well on the property hooked up to your plumbing.

You flop onto your couch and begin thinking of what to do.
