Hello, /qst/!
This is a Save the Princess quest since I don't think it really belongs in /v/.

Welcome to another quest, fated Hero!
Here you will begin to customize your very being once again.
===============================================
Mainline attributes are governed by three main cores just like Vagrant Star: Mind, Body and Spirit

[Mind] covers reason, computation and the vessel of information. A trained mind can hold many solutions and is not easily distracted or surprised by trickery or deceit
It covers the attributes : Intelligence, Wisdom, Focus and Perception

[Body] is the physical framework of your person. A conditioned body can withstand nearly anything that can be thrown at it. Whether its harsh weather conditions, sickness or simply how alluring you look to others, you can never be too healthy.
It covers the attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and Beauty

[Spirit] is the wellness of being and your sensitivity to the mana around you. A strong spirit is required for inspiring leaders and also affects how keen you are to the magical forces that bind and shape the world around you
It covers the attributes: Charisma, Attunement, Willpower, Mysticism

Whether you were taken by wanderlust to rescue princesses or simply pursued a higher calling, in the past life you were once a:

>[x] Ranger
--------------------------------

You were once a ranger, helping folk, noble and with passing through alien territory as a way to earn coin. Your experience in the wild helped build your keen sense of vigilance as well as some knowledge of various fauna and animals.
You were outdoors most of your time, some people thought you never had a home. Of course you did but for now, you live on the road to go on a quest to save princesses.

You gain the perk [Acquainted to Nature]
You have a cordial affect with things in the wilderness. This may increase through various means throughout your adventure

You have [20 pieces of silver], [1x Knife], [1x 3-repeater crossbow], [Box of small bolts], [Hooded fur jacket], [A pair of trousers], [A pair of fur boots], [Boxer shorts]

Next question, are you still a virgin?
--------------------------------

[] Of course
[] No, duh.

>[x] Unanimously virgin
-------------------------------------
You have never known the warm touch of a woman (or man) or any indulgence of carnal pleasures with any other person than yourself.
Being out in the wilderness does get lonely sometimes.

You don't look too shabby yourself as the regular exercise of trekking and climbing about has given you a lithe physique with a smooth tan on your skin.

Lastly, what is your name?

>[x] A troubling start
======================

You are Thomas Fairway, a proper name bestowed by your parents.
You had an enjoyable childhood but the call to nature eventually led you into being a promising ranger.
Before you knew it you are already of age in what seemed to be a blink of an eye.
--

You wake from your sleep, greeted by the chirping of birds and insects buzzing in your ears.
A hint of the sun's rays pierce through the greenery overhead that blanket the forest you are currently on the journey towards the peaking tower of stone on the far horizon.
You had an odd dream of your parents giving you a strange name but that thought is eventually washed away from the anticipation of your quest to save a princess like the heroes of legend battling dragons and sorcerers alike.
Although your quest has been rather peaceful so far, you are still vigilant on any trouble that may spring at every corner.
You're kind of surprised at that notion as well, you surmise that the trouble should lay further down the path.

After some hours of keeping track, you finally find your way out of the thicket and into a soaring tower that casts a long shadow before you.
A sigh of relief and jubilation escapes your breath, "Finally."

The tower itself looks to be sturdy but has clearly shown its age.
The banner that adorns its side carries the Rabbit Princess' sigil, although it is mysteriously frayed on its ends.

You wonder what must've caused that damage or why a princess' banner is in such a condition.

What do you do?

====================

You put your ears on the wind to catch any alien noise that may be around as you gently and carefully climb the stone stairs.
Bits of rock crumble as you take some steps up with a hint of slipperiness on some areas.

You do not hear anything out of the ordinary.

You place your ear by the rickety door and listen intently.
A gentle breeze escapes the gaps of the frame to tickle your ears but other than that, nothing but the sound of the early birds twittering about.

--------------------------------

Eerie but unsurprising.
Like a predator hunting prey, you assume that enemies are just waiting in the dark to catch you off guard.

Well not you!

You take a step back and a deep breath before you slam a foot against the wooden door.

*CRACKAKAH*

A shower of splintered wood rain across the inner sanctum of the tower as you make your move inside, weapons poised.
Inside, you are greeted with a wide and spacious array of decorations and tapestry of various rabbits.
It definitely appears to be much MUCH larger in the inside.

At the far corner your eyes catch a beautiful Rabbit princess in a splendid gown sprouting from a green foliage as if she is the petals of a large flower swallowing her entire lavish attire.
The look on her face is of a blank expression, a adding serene vibe to the entire piece.
She is as dazzling as you imagined her to be, princesses really are a sight to behold.

After scanning the room further, you don't seem to find anybody at all which is starting to appear really odd.
Are you too late?
Has the princess been rescued already?
"Dammit.", you whisper under your breath as you bring your crossbow back down.

You look behind you the shattered remains of what's left of the creaking mess that you have wrought upon a nice welcoming carpet and dread to confront the princess on how to repay the damages.

There goes your first impression on her home, you suppose.
You hope not to break anything more.

>[x] Open door under the stairs
--------------------------

You spot with your sharp eye a door below the stone staircase leading to the upper level and decide to investigate its contents.

The door has some resistance to it at first but eventually budges open, shrieking as the rusted hinges twist.
Inside you see various cleaning paraphernalia: a basked of unused soap which is allowing the only grace your nose begs from the damp smell and wet humidity the closet hits you, a wooden bucket, some dry but crusted washcloths along with a long and grimy robe that hangs on the door itself and lastly a long wooden broom outfitted with thin midribs to sweep away murky water.

Stapled to its shaft there reads a note:
Congrats on duty,

If the Princess sees mud all over the lobby again, you are not getting any rations and don't even try to shift blame, we know .And do something about that rotting door of ours, it's embarrassing that that sorry piece of wood is the only thing that stands between us and any bastard trying to kidnap the princess.

=======================
>[x] Equip and Ascend
--------------------------------------

An idea sparks alight inside your head.
A sudden urge takes you as you don the bucket on top of your hood, staining it with whatever grime was left within.
Slicks of dark residue trickles down on to your face and clothing as the smell of the damp closet now sticks into your entire being

You are now [Filthy]

In addition to that, you take the broom with you as well in case of a backup weapon.

-

Now that that's settled, you continue to investigate the tower and the only way now is up.
You start ascending the stone steps, rattling the bucket on your head as you move along.
The vision past the rims of your newfound headgear gives little way to anything above the parallel of your eyesight which begs the notion that maybe you should not be wearing buckets for a helmet.

The climb seemed endless with the rays of sunshine bleeding though the narrow apertures lighting the vast verticality you are traversing until finally you reach the end of the steps high above the tower.
There you are greeted by a tall door, ajar, with the words "The Rabbit Princess" engraved into its finely crafted timber.

You enter the room and to nobody's surprise, it is vacant.
The aroma of scented flower permeates throughout the bedchamber that almost overpowers the muck on your face.
Almost.
The room also appears to be in neat order with no signs of a fight or any struggle of sorts.

What do you do?

------------------------------------------

Upon realizing how much of dunce you look and smell with a bucket on your head that you just found in a custodian's closet, you rush towards the princess' bathroom, careful of not touching anything until you've at least washed the grime off of your self.

You put away the bucket in your person for whatever future use you might find for it.
You are [Slightly Encumbered]

Her bathroom is as tidy as you can imagine bathrooms can get.
It's fragrance does not clash with the bedroom but complements it with the smooth scent of vanilla and a hint of honeysuckle, the legacy of the scented candles at the edge of her bathtub.
Its walls are adorned with various miscellaneous decorations with a long framed crocheted piece at the very top, woven with the words "Patience is Princess".

Beside her extravagant toilet sporting two ears, lies a basket of reading material no doubt to pass the time.
You cannot even being to imagine how uneventful a princess' daily life is.

Feeling a sense of perverted trespassing, you immediately do what you ought to do and wash yourself off the basin.
A jet of water gently sprouts as you lend your hands inside the basin as you start wiping yourself down from any dirt and grime that you have foolishly inflicted upon yourself.
You even add a little spritz of perfume labeled "Lepus Eau so Fresh" just to mask the repugnant smell washing you with a zesty morning fresh tang of a strong citrus nature.

You are no longer [Filthy]
You are now [Fragrant: Red Clementine]

Once you're all but done you inspect anything you may have missed on her mirror, flanked by a small cabinet mirror as well.

What do you do now?

You briskly exit the bathroom with newfound cleanliness.

You are once again in the Rabbit Princess' room.
It is quite spacious for one individual but considering she is a princess, she shouldn't have anything less.

Her grand bed (again, quite excessive) is laden with drapes with a canopy overhead and is filled ot the brim with various sorts of cushions and pillows.
Directly above its covering, is a glass pane that showers the roof of her bed with sunlight that is filtered through the lace, trickling shaped light onto the bedsheet.

On its left, is tall bookcase housing an assortment of books with the middle shelf containing just a single sculpture of what you assume to be an archetypal feathered-cap hero declaring his love on one knee to a blushing Rabbit Princesss( you do take note that appears to be younger in this sculpture than the tapestry on the lobby)

On its right, is a picture frame of her younger self, perusing the foliage outside with a plucked flower poised on her button nose and a clear standing mirror with a solid frame..
Right beside that is what appears to be a wicker basket hamper.

A loveseat, right below a long window, rests some books atop of its undisturbed covering.

--------------------------------

You inch towards the drawers with the books, hoping to at least find a clue on the whereabouts of your princess.
As you pull open the the first one gently, you just find an assortment of neatly folded shirts on the right hand side.
The left hand side has all her lingerie and bras organized in a tidy fashion as well.
You do note in your head that the princess you've seen so far in the photos and tapestries are definitely too young to be wearing these type of lace underwear and bra sizes.

A little heat rises to your cheeks as you peruse a woman's private drawer until a pang of curiosity hits you when you catch a slight raised bump behind the folded shirts.

You decide to sate your curiosity this time and rifle your way through her orderly stacked shirts.

After a few seconds you feel at your fingertips a box-like object and when you can feel like you can pull it out, you do.
It's a....

[Box of male condoms: Human, standard]
(It hasn't been opened yet since it is still has an unbroken adhesive seal .A thin layer of dust wraps around the container which suggests it has been here for quite some time.)

The blood on your face immediately goes haywire as your cheeks now turn beet red from embarrassment.
Alarm bells ring around your head as the heat on your nape starts to make you form beads of sweat from your forehead.

Looks like curiosity got the best of you...now what?!?

In theory, no. But if you pass that off as artistic, it shouldn't be a problem.
There was a drawquest called Clo Quest where the main character (Clo) bathed in a stream and we could see her boobs but the mods didn't take the quest down.

So as long as you're not gratuitously showing nip, I think it should be fine.

Alright, I'm going to change the voting a bit since it's getting confusing for me.
I'll make each similar/supporting vote, cumulative in a sense that they all add up compared to a different vote so that the majority get what they want and a runaway high vote doesn't just bend the interest of the many so for now I will combine all.

==========================
>[x] look at figure on shelf

You do your best to ignore whatever treasure you've just uncovered and try to put your mind somewhere else, like that figurine on the shelf above.
You find it odd that it is the one item in its own space.

It is a porcelain piece comprised of two figures, one is a strapping young man with a wide and teethed smile in admiration of the beauty that lays before him.
He is propped on one knee with one of his hands beats his bare chest peeking from the revealing neckline, the other grasps firmly the soft hands of the other figure, a rabbit princess.
Or rather, The Rabbit Princess.
She has her head tilted away, overwhelmed by emotion, hand on her forehead

Altogether the piece displays the legendary romance of the Hero and the Princess, a path you yourself have chosen to partake.
Nothing out of the ordinary strikes out as you observe it further however.

>[x] look under the bed.

Your next target is the princess' extravagant bed crafted perfectly to gather enough sunlight that filters beams that shine shapes from the lace canopy on the kempt sheets.
What a comfortable place to lie and rest, you guess.

You hunker down beneath its frame and drapery to investigate whatever contents may lie under the rich furniture and find nothing but dust on the floorboards.
There is no gathering of cobwebs however, which then you can assume that this place is cleaned often.

Up next, is the slightly open window on the corner near the entrance.
The occasional slight breeze usually carries its way inside, saturating the aroma of the room even further with the outside air.
Upon peeking out from the windowsill, you immediately conclude that such a height would absolutely be lethal to anything that does not sprout wings this high up the tower.
No signs of a rope or any escape tool was used either, or remained.

Damn, where is everybody?

===========================

You decide to head back ALL the way down, maybe you left some clues unturned.
Descending the steps is definitely easier than ascending them and before you know it you are back down in the lobby.

You immediately try to lift up a carpet to figure if the possibility of indirect accesses may ring true, as it may lend a fleeing princess means of escaping captivity from invaders.
As you lift the large carpet, there is some added weight you did not expect to burden you with but you succeed in rolling up half of it over with some effort.

What you see next perplexes you even more...a pool of blood is gathered underneath the heavy rug in fact it is soaked to the very thread.
Thoughts run through your head as to why the blood wasn't visible from above but it does show outlines of an hatch of sorts as the blood seeps through its tiny cracks.
There isn't even a pungent smell to it.

Shit just got a whole lot weirder....

What the fuck...what the fuck...

You frenetically grab the long princess' tapestry and raise its edge as well and there it is again.
Blood.
And lots of it splattered all over the wall without the surface of the cloth stained at all
You do note however how the blood eerily stops at the edges of the fabric as if to magically make the effort to hide the gore.

>[x] Investigate painting (13+8=21)
----------------------------------------------

A tinge of paranoia is starting to creep into your sanity from all the mysterious sightings you've seen so far.

You decide to check the large painting by the stairs as well, maybe to further extrapolate more visual evidence as to what is really going on here.

The oil painting is large enough that it requires at least two able bodied people to hoist it off the wall, if one was to care for its well-being.
Given that you are quite sure there might be more of the gore behind it, you are even more hesitant to remove it from its place.
The picture itself displays a large pale rabbit chewing on some greenery with a view from behind, beside him/her is a smaller rabbit nearly obscured from its foreground companion.
The frame encasing the art piece looks to be engraved less extravagantly.

The painting is a pleasant sight to look at.

It is a nice painting, so you decide to leave it be.
Your eye soon catches the missing debris and splintered wood scattered all over the floor from your recent entrance.
And to top it off, the door seems to be fixed as well.

Fucking hell.

You check the front door, examining why it's even there in the first place.
It feels like as it did whole, old and debilitated wood with metal bars keeping it together, as if you've never even laid your hands on it.
When you try to test the handle, it does not budge open, not even slightly.
You try your hardest heave....to no avail.
The very hinges themselves do not even mutter a single strain from your struggle.
It doesn't feel like there is any blockage on the other side as well.

You may not know much about the subject but there definitely is some magic fuckery going on.
Don't you dare fucking panic, Thomas.

Bursting though the bedroom you immediately grab and tear the curtains of the princess grandiose bed only to see it to be awash in blood clotting through the opaque fabric.

It's just fucking blood, man up Thomas.
You've seen it plenty of times (although animal's rather than human) it shouldn't be alien to you but the thought of these appearing spontaneously everywhere is starting to get to you.
It does not smell either which definitely is a boon.

You continue tearing out the drapes and knot them tightly into a blood-washed rope, heavy from its soaked contents and place it all in your handy bucket.
A forceful weight brings your body down a bit before you steady yourself
You are now [ENCUMBERED]
(You can still move around but do not expect to be nimble or running around until you unburden some load)

After arranging your rope in your bucket, you look back to see the whole room bloodied.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?

A near panic rattles within your mind as you take a couple steps back, alerted by the scenery before you
Everything is disheveled, the bookcase now stand leaning against the bed which is drenched in thick scarlet.
Windows are broken and the chandelier from the ceiling appears to have fallen and shattered on the carpet.
Trails and handprints of blood decorate the room and slither towards the door of the gory bedchamber.

You are now slightly in [FEAR]

The bucket is kinda loud and clunky, which could compromise our stealth and vision considering we're an archer.
The broom idea isn't awful but will probably take a while. That said, a beat stick is better than none, but we should use what we know well first.
Grabbing the torch is the only other good idea of the bunch: carrying extra stuff in the bucket is clunky. If we can grab a candle or two without being impeded then that's fine, but going full klepto isn't going to help. A bathrobe is not armor.
As for a plan,
>look at blood trails
>try not to panic
>panic and get it out of our system
>BREATHE GODDAMMIT, REMEMBER YOUR TRAINING
>look at the blood trails to track the movement of the struggle, to get an idea of what the hell happened and what we should be expecting in that hidden trapdoor since it seems like the only way out is through

Discarding that thought at the moment, you just realize that the trail does not follow you downstairs and upon reaching the main lobby everything looks to be right as you left it.

Including the bloody carpet and the crimson contour that laid beneath it.
You attempt to feel around your foot if the hatch is still there and sure enough it is although that still fills you with a sense of dread.
As if you haven't seen the worse of your predicament yet.

I'm going to put in a feed display of sorts just so it add to that "video game" feel I'm going for.

>[x] Take torch and descent.

You feel around where the invisible hatch is and try to pry it open once you've found a good grip on it.
It takes a grueling effort and an exorbitant wind off your lungs but you finally managed to flip it open.

A dark maw opens with old wooden steps leading to what appears to be dirt.
Whatever dim light you are being afforded by the lobby is all what you can see at the moment so you grab the torch by the entrance and take your first step down.

*CREAK*

The worn timber bends from the pressure of your foot but still holds up your entire weight.
Each careful footfall finds its way into an even steeper notch emitting a loud echo throughout the cavern.

*CREAK*

You breath a sigh of relief as you finally make it to the ground.
So good so far.

From what you can see from the boon of your torch is just a wide subterranean area that must've been excavated to make some sort of basement....or a means of escape.
Stalactites and thick columns of timber are all around you, the latter constructed to support the weight of the tower and help it no collapse and cave in the place as far as you know from exploring some old ruins from one of your wilderness forays.
There are piles of stone formations strewn about which might be leftovers from when they burrowed into this place.
The occasional dripping of water is heard from a far distance as well as the howling of a whispering wind—

*BAAAM!*

A loud snap shoots a scare up your spine as you look back and see the hatch slam shut, cutting you off from return.
Whatever it is that has trapped you in here must've wanted you down here, for whatever purpose.
You hope in your deepest gut that it is some sort of benevolent spirit but as far as you've seen, that notion is very unlikely.

Looks like the only way now is forward.

------------------------------------------

You spot a rusted caged lantern and open its fencing, emitting an audible squeak, and put the torch towards the oiled wick.
It catches light immediately as it flickers with the soft wind in the cavern.

Much to your expectation, another horrendous scene displays itself in full.
Blood is stained all over the columns and stone, trailer further onward into the dim path.
Claret-coloured handprints look to be grabbing onto whatever object it may have found to clutch on only to inevitably be dragged off.

You don't want to imagine what the full picture is of all these grim findings, or where all the bodies have gone.
You then unholster your weapon, poised forward and finger ready by the trigger guard, prepared for what's to come.

Your main hand is now equipped with [3-repeater crossbow]
Both your hands are now equipped and full.

With each careful step, you stay vigilant of any one or more things that may lunge at you as you have done out in the wild.
Setting foot on the blood feels dry so you're sure those who have been taken are a definite lost cause.

Although you implore to the powers at be that the princess may be safe to make this journey worth it and your adventure does not simply end by some creature devouring your innards.

As you continue onward the streaks of blood starts to fade into nothing and in a blink of an eye has now vanished altogether.
Even when looking back it's as if the gore was never really there.

Once again you are left with a barren rocky cave devoid of any evidence of slaughter

"Come horror, come all", you mutter under your breath with slight trepidation.

You take a deep breath and give yourself a pep talk, "C'mon Thomas, you got this. Blood shouldn't spook you this much."
A few exhales and you feel your confidence slightly rise as you light the second lantern, already expecting what comes next.

A bright illumination brightens of the cave and there it is...the usual blood stains painting all over the foundations and stone.
You aren't spooked as much but this time there's—

"VIRAGO'S CUNT!", a loud voice reverberates throughout the craggy walls.
You instinctively take a leap back and almost pull your finger on the trigger until you see someone raise their arms in surrender.

Conflicting emotions flood your mind, on one hand you are glad that there's at least someone alive you can talk to but on the downside, who the fuck is this guy?

His sharp eyes peek through his defensive stance "Hey! Who...Who the fuck are you?!? Goddammit...."
There is a sigh of resignation from those last words as you see him to be exhausted and have been stirred by your startling entrance.

His hands lower their guard, "Yeah yeah yeah, whatever, Listen I don't know who sent you or how you manage to find me but we're in serious shit."

You finally get a full glimpse of his face, there is a full drawing all over it like some sort of sigil. The same illustration appears in a broken token of sorts hanging around this huge metal collar he is strapped in with.
Even his clothes seem rather bizarre as metallic cuffs brace the hems of his arms and legs.
Whatever that means, you're about 70-80% sure it's about magic.
And you're out of your depth when it comes to that kind of stuff.

"So I don't imagine you're responsible for all this?, you jokingly reply.

The man looks to be in desperate peril so you lend your ear to his demand.
"Alright, what's wrong? I mean besides the whole blood...stuffs"
A little bit of levity goes a long way in times like this.

His body lurches closer to you while still remaining on the ground, "Okay shit, here's the catch. There is an, honest to Mod himself, wispell blocking the only way through about a couple meters onward. Most likely some geriatric wizard thought it'd be funny to put it there who the fuck knows."

Beads of sweat starts pouring down from his head as his eyes look like it is about to pop out from its sockets, "I got her in a force prison for quite some time now and I don't know how long I can keep up with the strain, I feel like I'm burning from the fucking inside. Fucking magic sucks man <groan>, don't let any fucking idiot tell you that it's worth learning."

"Okay, what I need you to do is to reach in deep into <groAAN> her armor and rip out the wispell itself, got it?" His fist connects to the ground to quench some of his inner agony, sputtering small stones in many directions.

"It's...going to be like... a ball of sorts.", he chirps on before crunching down once again in pain.

You rush past the anguished man, further into the cave and just like before the tracks of blood slowly dissipate away until again nothing remains the more you distance yourself from the previous lantern's light.

A sense of urgency surges you forward until *FLASH* a big bright glimmer of light nearly blinds you.

"Back again, mage?", a deep bellowing female voice echoes within metal, as you are greeted by an armored figure about twice your height knelt down with what appears to be a magical enchantment surrounding her.

There is a minor screech of rusted metal that tries to break free in vain, "Oh, my mistake. Another one of you interlopers."

You also notice a gigantic sword rested on the giant's shoulder, poised in a resting position. It has an odd shape right at the end that prongs at two angled edges.

Her one gleaming red eye pierces you with a sharp gaze, "If you wish to duel me for the princess' honour, free me of this wretched sorcery. Then you and I may do battle in her name."

Behind the iron-clad titan is a mountain of rock and boulders that has caved the entire way forward save for a short gap that has the red trail slithering inside its dark maw.

You take a step forward and judging by the iron giant's reaction, she is cautious on your sudden approach.
"Interloper, honour our duel. Slay the mage and set me free to make this right."

You holster your weapon [MAIN HAND FREE]
Once you extend you arm, the eye brightens in a troubled state as you reach inside the gaps of the metal it comprises.

"There is no honour in this! No prestige to be gained from defeating me in this state."

Your fingertips feel around the aged metal as it starts to shift and creak around.
It is as if she is resisting in futility.
The one eye she has now appears to be blazing in utmost worry, "NOT LIKE THIS, INTERLOPER. NOT LIKE THIS!"

Then you feel it, a small metallic ball, levitating and vibrating erratically inside the hollow contents of her suit of armor.
The giant now attempts to lurch and jolt around in a last ditch effort to break free of her prison.
And it looks as if she is about to break free from the sheer might.

"I BEG OF YOU, DON'T!—"

You forcefully seize the sphere before she is able to free herself, by your assumption.
You are then pushed back by a force ejected around the giant's being as it starts collapsing upon itself in a deafening clang and twisting noise, each fiber of the iron wrenching itself with each hollow limb until it falls lifeless onto the ground.
Her massive weapon shatters in two, like stone smashed upon a hammer, and crashes onto her crumpled corpse.

You take a deep sigh and pocket the brass core as you retrace your steps back to the spellcaster for the news.
Your trek just takes a few minutes as you spot the illuminating light of the lantern and its bloody scenery.
There the mage is nowhere to be found until you hear a shout from behind the column.

"WHO GOES THERE?!?"

"It's me, I've returned. I've taken this thing out of that Wispell thingamajig."
His head peeks out of hiding at the moment of your reply and the look of his face is that of pure relief.

"Ohohohohooo shit, nice. That wasn't so bad now was it? Now hand it over."
He extends his sleeved arm towards you but then retracts it back immediately, "Or not, you killed that bitch so you have the honour. Doesn't matter just destroy it."
He shrugs nonchalantly.

The man stands about a few centimeters taller than you with a rugged two-block haircut.
His strange tattoo on his face looks to be branded in rather than a mere skin artistry.

=======================

You decide to hold on to the core for now, not fully understanding what it is.
Still, many inquiries run through your mind but one strikes you as urgent.
"So who are you exactly?"

There is no moment of hesitation from your question as if he is used to being asked such, "Name's Rickard, you?"

"Thomas. Thomas Fairway." You would extend your hand but he doesn't seem to be the shaking type.

"Guess you got shit for luck like I do, Thomas."

You let out a slight chuckle, "Guess I do, say how did you end up in these parts anyways?"

Another quick reply, "Was wandering around look for some Nirn's Amanitas for some grub until I stumbled on the tower, fucking worst mistake of my life y'know?"

"How bout you? You look like the wandering type yourself too."

Amanitas? Throughout your life as a ranger, you are sure that specific mushroom is poisonous but there are a select few that are edible.
You still wouldn't recommend foraging those.
But Nirn's Amanitas? That is severely poisonous that tragically ended a famous hero's life, Nirn the Pygmy, hence the namesake.

"Uhhh..."

"What?"

"Nirn's Amanitas are extremely poisonous."

Somehow you see a slight surprise dawn on him for a brief moment before a snicker escapes him, "Ah shit, I didn't mean those, like the white cap ones. Dunno exactly what they're called but those taste good in some soup."

It's not a specific answer but it technically still isn't wrong either.

"Anyways shit, don't fucking know why we're talking about food right now. Let's get the fuck outta here before we starve to death, eh?"

With that you definitely agree.

-----[Rickard has joined the party]--------

You both walk along the path forward in a moderate pace but Rickard is definitely less guarded than he was a couple minutes ago, "So shit, you didn't exactly tell me how you ended up in this shithole."

"I'm actually for the Rabbit Princess and it looks like I got more than I bargained for with this whole horror show."

He scoffs, "Rabbit Princess, huh? Shit, I did spot that banner outside the tower 'fore barging in. Thought the place would be abandoned though before I stumbled on the whole illusion trap shit."

"Yeah, that spooked me for a bit. "
The surprise revelation still sends a bit of a raised hair at the back of your neck.

"Whatever the fuck it is, it should be dispelled with the whole wispell bitch done for or not but better to be sure than sorry. Never know when something jumps out of nowhere to fuck you royally."

You take that statement in irony due to how relaxed he seems to be in this situation.
"As for that core you're holding on to, that shit is near useless. Junk at the very best if you're looking to barter that with anything else. Not even the metal its made of isn't worth shit smelted."

"Oh."
The ball in your inventory isn't heavy at all to carry and is only slightly bigger than the size of your hand.
Rickard's appraisal of it may have lessened its worth to you than you have initially though.

"Keep it as a memento or whatever but damn I can't even imagine why some old shitter decided to waste all that mana and expertise in crafting a wispells. Shit is way demanding and way too complex to construct. Good news is that there must be something worth guarding there."
"But a princess? That's def worth it.", he elbows you with a wide grin.

Both of you finally reach at the end of the pathway, or at least so far, as you come across the crumbled remains of the now deceased magical construction.

Rickard spits at the warped metallic junk pile, "Good riddance."

"Rude, man."

He casually ignores you and walks past the heap of rust and crushed metal.
You shrug and follow suit to enter inside the dark abyss.

You immediately feel the sudden absence of the whispering wind that was prevalent ever since you came down here.
The places looks to be barren but much isn't visible to you yet beyond the darkness and is definitely more spacious than what you've initially surmised it would be.

Still, what is even more uncanny is the disappearance of the blood that has led to to this place and a chill runs up to your spine what the illusion is hiding this time around.

As you ponder these thoughts, a sweet dulcet voice catches your ear, "He-hello? Is someone there?"
The tone of the feminine voice sounds frightened and apprehensive.

You do not dare utter a single response as you look back to Rickard with a shake of your head.
He scoffs at your warning, "We're here, princess!"

At those words, you hear the pitter patter of footsteps getting closer.
You raise your weapon forward in anticipation.

From the shadows, emerges a lithe woman wearing a slightly disheveled short gown of sorts.
She sports a crown on her head with two large ears wrapped by her long hair braided back to lay bear her full cheeks.
The short fur around her exposed collarbone looks soft to the touch.

She is the striking resemblance of the Rabbit Princess in the various portraits you've seen of her so far but much more mature and grown into a finer lady.
You are honestly taken aback of her simple beauty despite being in a damp and eerie cave.

"Goodness...you don't realize how loooong I've been down here..."
There is definite sassy tone to her overall demeanour despite being in great peril

"I am Thomas Fairway and this man here is Rickard."

"Pleased to meet you both I am the Rabbit Princess, now if you don't mind—"
You interrupt her, "I do mind, please stay where you are.".
You raise the loaded crossbow onto her center mass and hold it there ready to do the unthinkable to the princess.

"I beg your pardon!?", she raises her sleeved arms above her head.
"I thought you two were supposed to be rescuing me..."

Without taking your eyes off of her, you call out to your mage companion, "Rickard, can you check for any more illusions?"
You do not hear any response from him.

"Rick—"
An array of blue light showers around you with your limbs petrifying into a standstill.
Most of your mobility has been taken away but you can still feel some freedom around your mouth.
"Rickard, what the fuck...?"

"Sorry mate, are you really too fucking stupid to realize I'm here for the princess as well?", he says chortling as he saunters past. A light blue fiery glow emanates from his very eyes with one clenched fist glowing with the same colour and manner.
"I genuinely am in shock of how gullible some people are these days."

He approaches the now doubly stupefied princess, and grips her hip closer to himself, "Alright, princess. Drop the illusions. I know this whole place is rigged with it, especially in this very cave. Frankly it is just irritating and tedious and doesn't disturb me one bit like that faggot over there."

The Rabbit Princess' raised arms now sink past down to distance herself from the mage but he pinches her plump buttock in return, "Uh-uh- uh, not so fast. Drop the shit now, don't make me freeze you as well, doesn't make a difference to me."
His eyes droop down to examine her body with a sinister grin, "It's going to be fun breaking you in."

Her head tilts away from her assaulter and looks at you briefly with her desperate eyes before surrendering its sight to the dark nothing that surrounds you three.

You attempt to resist the effects of the force prison's grip on your body but to no avail, however you still attempt to do so.

"You know what, fuck it. I'm just gonna imprison you as well, kinda miss having them wriggle around though"
Rickard lets go of her bottom as his eyes glow brighter but a squeaky giggle cuts through the air.

"Oh so you're enjoying this, huh?"

The princess squirms around his grasp, "Very!"

Rickard for a moment is at a loss of words before regaining his composure as a domineering figure, "You gonna keep laughing like that when I put your mouth to good use?"

"You are funny man, mister mage."
A blank emotion washes over her blank expression as she dons an eerie smile.

"—ha...ha...ha...HA...HA—"

Her voice is shrill but a loud crack soon pierces her ominous monotone laughter.
Then another one.
Her body starts to contort in an odd angle while still maintaining her balance to stand upright.
A large part of her torso then starts to bloat horrendously, turning one side of the princess into a bulbous mass of broken bone and tissue.

*SPLOSHH*

A disfigured mass of tissue erupts from her right arm, wriggling and pulsating to breath itself new life as a new growth.
The mass splits into five beating digits with splintered bone jutting out from its tips as it if were nails from a hand.

Rickard stumbles backwards onto the ground from the monstrous surprise bursting its fluids onto him, "WHAT THE FUCK?!?"

You witness the entire scene unfold before you but are unable to do anything about it as the earsplitting laughter continues.

"—HA....HA..HA...HA...HA—"

"—HA....HA..HA...HA...HA—"

The writhing flesh continues to bloat and burst, sprouting new growths of gigantic limbs.

*SPLOSHH* SPLOSSH*

Fluids of all kinds are showered all over as her figure starts to overshadow your presence with her newfound legs.
Her eyes protrude out from their sockets and look like they are about to explode from the sheer pressure from whatever it is happening.

A bright red split is sliced right at the center of her face, cutting it clean with blood slowly trickling out.

Her crown falls to the ground.

You and Rickard stands petrified from the horror emerging before you.

One of her gruesome limbs snatches the poor mage in shock, fully gripping his head within her horrifying grasp.
The once mangled arms crack into place to form a more rigid and complete figure, as bone and tendon is forcibly pushed back in to conform to its shape.

Her...it's legs now stand upright populated by patches of long scraggly fur until it completely rips her gown apart to allow her to showcase the monstrosity in whole.

Up above, you see the once sweet princess face ballooning out of proportion, eyes ready to pop and the entirety of her face awash in blood from her now flayed cranium.
Spikes of metal and bone shoot out with a gleeful force as if to bestow itself a new crown.

It is clear this isn't the princess anymore or if it even was in the first place.

Rickard is now stricken in [FEAR]

A bright flash of light illuminates the entirety of the cave, nearly blinding you for a near second, but it is a abhorrent and pungent smell that strikes you the hardest, causing you to gag relentlessly.
As your eyes start to focus in you bear witness a hill of eviscerated and maimed bodies all piled haplessly onto the side, blood splatter smeared all over the large space around you.
Flies and insects buzz around the carcasses as your stomach churns out your breakfast.

You feel [DRAINED]

You take a couple steps back to bask in this creature's size.
This looks to be its true form.
You try to get ready but the fear running through your limbs scream at you to run.

That is one of her many massacred Rabbit Tower Guards and various "rescuers" from where all the blood originates from.

Aventine, the Watchmaiden does not know about the beast behind her and believes she is protecting the Rabbit Princess.

I am talking about if we make it out of here alive.

>>3738100
No, I'm afraid not.
What Rickard said was true.
A wispell's core is useless on its own and is primarily used as a linchpin of the surging mana that gives itself sentience, connected to the objects it is bestowed.
Only the most skilled mages can practically even attempt at making wispells.

In this case, Aventine is a wispell bonded to a large suit of armor and weapon.
Think of them like golems.

Once the core is separated from the "body", it is disrupted and the spell (Wisp+Spell, it is essentially a Living Spell) is broken.
That may sound ridicuously easy but Wispells are really tough to take down on their own and are nearly immune to any physical and some magical damage.
>>
>>3738100
Also, I think for votes like this you cannot support a roll (because the highest ones will just be picked).
You have to roll one yourself to add to the tally.

Or do something else to bring the personality back out of the wispell? She's super double dead? You see gigantic beast's arm coming and try to weave out of its warpath.
Fortunately this time, you see it coming and avoid it accordingly.

The gangly arm razes the dirt, clenching nothing rock and stone, bits of nail chipping off in the dust.
[Yôt-jeré, the Pretender] take slight damage.

The impact of its arm shakes the whole underground cavern as stalactites and large chunks of rock rain down on the vulnerable limb.
You can even see some jab its way in into its skin, pinning some if his fingers into the ground.
[Yôt-jeré, the Pretender] take massive damage!

A shrieking howl pierces the dry air, "RYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! FUUUUUUUAACK!"

(Condition: Scraped up)
You are still stricken with [FEAR], your previous success slowly dwindling its effect.
(The putrid smell of the cave is far behind you but its odour still reeks from this distance. You are still DRAINED)

-------------------------

You turn tail from the screaming horror, back from where you came,

Every fiber of your twitching muscles carries you further and further back from the cavern as the laughter seems to distance itself behind you.
(The pungent smell of the bodies seem to lose their thick aroma form this distance but the aged blood splatters does have its own reek. You are no longer DRAINED)

"I'M....GOING...TO RIP YOU APART!"
You stop dead on your tracks the moment the boom of those words are uttered from mysterious origins.
Suddenly, zombified and gangly appendages sprout from the walls and floor, coiling around the surfaces in dark portals.
The sound of cracking bone is loud as the limbs gather and slither to block your passage.
Bloodshot eyes all of a sudden blink to life around the timber wood, all shooting you with a bulbous gaze.
"I'M GONNA TEAR YOUR GUTS, SOFT AND MUSHY, MUSHY AND SOFT GUTS!"

Horrors unbound, you feel your newfound hopes nearly dashed in an instant.
You are still stricken with [FEAR]

This looks like as far as we are getting. Its better than in the area where we were suffering from two debuffs and at risk of getting pulled back into the main area.
Reload so we can start shooting the thing in the background. We have ranged, lets use it.

----------------------------

You gotta reload!
You reach behind you to grab a handful of bolts from your pouch and flip open the loading gate of your repeater.

[You are currently reloading your 3-repeater crossbow)

You load one bolt
*click*

The writhing arms coil around you closer as the pillars, dotted with strange eyes, stare at your every movement.

You load one bolt
*click*

The limbs pulsate and jump to and fro, shifting through portals until they seize up and surge towards you
SHIT!
SHIT!

A swarm of grotesque appendages try to grab you, their momentous assault stretching their tentacle like nature from their convolving around the grim scenery.

"GUTS GUTS GUTS, RED JUICY GUTS!"

Since its past bedtime and I should get some sleep for a long day tomorrow, I'll just throw my dice as well. Can discount them if they are unneeded.

After this, probably do normal shots, and not another unload. The accuracy penalty if we go for the background or eyes will be too great to be worth it.

I'd rather deal with shitty undead hands than the giant boss for purposes of reloading. Plus, we can't escape from the tower so these things can feasibly pop up just about anywhere until we kill that thing. That said, we need to find a melee weapon ASAP or a faster way to reload, this whole reloading nonsense shits all over any decent offensive measures we can take for now.

>[x] Artful Dodge!

With a twitch of muscle, you graciously weave your body out of harm's reach and load the last bolt into the chamber with a resounding click.
The bowstring racks back in its mechanism as you are poised to fire again.

The impetus of the limbs drives it further away from you as it lands and coils back underground, resurfacing to group itself back into the main swarm.

>[x] Set ablaze!
------------------------

You ping a bolt right off the caged lantern sending it careening before a light splash on the ground is soon lit ablaze by a consuming fire.

The oil jumps and sputters around sticking onto the now floundering limbs in sheer agony
"WHAT...WHAT THE FUAAAAAAACK? FUAAAAAAAACK!"

[Yôt-jeré, the Pretender] is now [BURNED]...somehow.

The eldritch eyeballs stuck on the wooden columns, now also caught in fire, dart around as if it tries to escape the inferno in a panic before

*PSHOOO!*

One pops like an overinfalted balloon, scattering blood and black bile from its eye-pit.

*PSHOO!*

Another one follows.
Eventually a symphony of erupting eyeballs fills your ears in disgust.
You do however notice that the black tar-like mist that is ejected from the now liquefied eyeballs catch into embers as fast as they are released from the heat.
You do not know what strange fluid that is but you intend not to sate your curiosity.

"GYAAAAAAAAAAH FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! MY FUCKING EY— I'M GONNA YANK YOUR BONES OUT OF YOUR SKIN—AAAAAAAH!"

You do not know the source of that wailing but you are sure that this beast is hurt.
Your [FEAR] is slowly subsiding.

Before you lies a burning path onto back where you came from but the flames are lively from the thick jumping oil spread around the rock.

(You must run if you want to cross the blaze, otherwise abstain from the roll by posting ABSTAIN)

>[x] Through the fire and flames

You pour forth, into the burning plume of flame.
You can see the limbs wriggling violently from being cooked alive with the agonizing demonic scream shaking the caverns once more.
'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH"

You push and push through the intense heat, fiery sploshing oil, charred remains and the ear-piercing shouts and before you know it...

You make it!
The gleam of your work far behind you as your feet had carried.
Your look is a bit disheveled and blackened from the smoke but all in all, relieved by the miracle of how you aren't being burned alive right now.

You press on and leave the beast to his own torment.

HUFF* HUFF*
Your breath is ragged from this entire ordeal as you near the ladder, a beacon for your escape—

BOUUSH!

A gigantic head crashes through the darkness and into the cave, "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE HERE DIE HERE DIE HERE DIE HERE DIE HERE...."
Its form shifts into an even nightmarish version of itself, eyes opening into a black pit of chittering arms, an extra wormy appendage shooting out of its nose
Its teeth now filed into razor points with what appears to be an endless maw.
"DIE DIE DIE!"
Two arms emerge from nowhere and tries to pry its entire hidden body into the tight corners of the underground path with astounding strength that it look like that it may try to lift and push the very earth around it

Its head inches forward slowly with struggle, mouth agape.
Your [FEAR] rekindles with your hands now beginning to shake along with your entire body.

You carefully aim at the lantern, hoping to conflagrate this scary bastard.
At the pull of the trigger, the dart flies and pings the cage, despite your shaky fingers (Imagine that!)

The lantern falls off its hinges until—
"BLEEAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH"

A flood of regurgitated tissue and viscous fluids starts pouring out of the endless gullet of the monster, towing the lantern from breaking on the hard ground.
The deluge of innards inundates your lower torso in its thick liquid, filled with soft chunks and mushy guts.
You are now [ROOTED]

The smell is unbearable and the moment it hits you, your body immediately reacts to the horrid stench of the semi-digested meat and bones.
You start to hurl uncontrollably, ejecting and mixing your food with the beast's diet which inadvertently makes you heave even more.
You are [POISONED: NAUSEA]
