The year is 2019 and you're 18 now. Finally eligible for a hero license from the Meta-human Surveillance Force. You've dreamed of this day since you were a young boy. Now on the precipice of manhood the first choices that'll define your life are yours to make. But many things need answered about yourself before then.

Class level, the MSF divides super powered individuals into six classifications, which are you? S Class and E Class unavailable.
>A Class - 5 Powers
>B Class - 4 Powers
>C Class - 3 Powers
>D Class - 2 Powers

The next most important, after your powers of course, is the decision of which path you'll take.
>[Hero] - A licensed and recognized hero who operates within the confines of the law and is allowed access to areas the general public may not. There's no need to keep your identity a secret and you are not breaking any laws that'll put you in jail when on duty. But the MSF knows where you are at all times and will hold you accountable for breaking the law, even in the name of good. As a super powered being you are also considered beholden to additional laws of the MSF's making. You receive pay from various governments around the world for your work.

>[Vigilante] - Unlicensed heroes who deny the authority of the MSF and take the law into their own hands. Some are only vigilantes in name and could work as licensed heroes, others are extremist who do as they wish. You receive no official pay from your work and what you do is considered very illegal. Though official heroes are unlikely to arrest you if you ever show up to help.

>[Villain] - You know damn well what this is. You break the law and do damn near everything for your own gain in some way or another.

(This is my attempt at a less crunch intense quest than what I usually do. I've had this idea for a while but wannabe hero qst finally inspired me to get this underway.)

Since you were a little boy you've always aspired to be a hero like your idols on TV. Like the Olympians, greatest superhero team in the world. You'd always thought it was just a dream, but one day it awoke in you. The source of super powers in humans, the Fons-gene. Sometimes it occurs naturally, other times through stress and trauma.

You still remember the day your powers awoke and you became a meta-human. You were 7, your home, Archon city was under attack. The villains Mechonos, The Beastmaster, Ripjaw, Tiamat, and a dozen minor villains took the city by force as they were led by the Jackal. Five heroes united, and four stood at the end, the day saved. They named themselves and their fallen comrade the Olympians and pledged to make sure Archon never suffered again.

In the chaos of the event four powers awoke, placing you as a B Class meta. They were.

1 in super intelligence for example doesn't mean your stupid, it's still a boost basically. Just not a very noticeable one. The main drawbacks of 1's is they bring minor flaws, like 1 in intelligence may give you OCD or you might hear voices. Meanwhile that 1 in reflexes earlier may give you an involuntary muscle twitch.

Gonna wait till morning for all the votes. Don't worry about rolling for wildcard now. It'll be much easier to do the rolls at the same time once you all agree on a power set.

Also some power combinations may give you unintended bonuses, like how I said earlier that Super speed enhances your durability to make sure you withstand your power. Combining super speed and strength would basically make it so you could shrug off whatever you'd need to withstand your powers, like going through a brick wall. While high Enhanced Durability is more pic related.

>>3727409
Rolls don't count till you agree on a power set. Sorry.

The trick is being the ultimate distraction. The Electricity draws attention and kills electronics, the Durability and Regen when combined would make us so hard to kill that when we get the force of the enemy team bearing down on us, we can take it. The Superstrength is what lets us actually take out proper high tiers of villainously inclined supers.

You sit at a desk in the local MSF office waiting for the officer to approve your license. As you wait you think of your powers. None of the powers that awoke for you were obvious at first. There was no flash of lightning, no ray of light burst from you. You were simply you, and when Jackal came to take the city you and your family hid in your home for the several days the city was fought for. When all was over you slowly discovered your powers.

The first to reveal themselves were your super strength and intellect. When school started back up again after the debacle you accidentally ripped the door off its hinges and broke your locker. Then there were the classes, they posed no problem to you, you were smarter than ever. A after A found their way to you and soon school began to bore you for not providing enough of a challenge. Sometimes you skipped, and even after they advanced your grade you were still bored. In your spare time you picked up some physics and engineering textbooks to stop you from going mad.

The next was your super reflexes. It was subtle at first. You began avoiding things easier and you finally discovered it when you went camping with your cousins. One of your idiotic cousins brought a bow and didn't look where he was shooting. An arrow was accidentally fired at you. The world slowed and before you knew it the arrow was in your hand.

Finally you discovered your regeneration powers after getting your leg broken in the fifth grade. You were sent home and the doctor put it in a cast. For the next few hours you gorged yourself on food, and at the end of the day you couldn't feel the pain anymore. Returning to the doctor the next day you found it healed.

You're pulled out of your thoughts to those days as the officer returns and sets himself down with a sigh. "Almost done sir, just need to finalize some information. Gonna need your Hero Name, Costume which is optional, and your actual name."

>Name:
>Super Name:

>Pick a costume

"Also." He adds searching behind his desk. "You can buy this for an extra 50 creds." He places on the table a pair of simple looking glasses, of course the J on the side tells you they're actually a Jac. An analysis tool made by Prometheus Industries. As a bonus they come with a small database on supes, inbuilt AI, and alert heroes to local problems.

>Buy it, you'd still have $150 left.

"My name's Joseph Sasaki."

The man writes it down and says. "Last name sounds Asian but you don't look it?"

"Dad's half Asian. Super name will be Atlas."

"Eh, fortunately for you looks like its available. Lucky you, ain't many mythology names that ain't been picked."

"Super suit will be black, blue pants, white shoes, and made out of an undisclosed material."

He cast a slight glance at you before looking back down at the paper. Under his breath you hear. "Thank god, for a second thought he was going to be another white and gold Omni wannabe."

Putting down his pen he looks over the information and gives a curt nod. "Alright this all looks in order, give me a few minutes and I'll be right out.

Giving him some time he soon returns and places the card on the desk.

Your grab it and savor the feeling. This is it! You're a real hero now! You look at the Jac on the table for the moment and consider declining, but decide it'd be best to buy it as it may prove invaluable in your fledgling career.

You fork over the 50 credits for it and after purchasing it swiftly leave.

You stand on the steps of the MSF office now. The world is yours to do as you wish and with a celebratory jump you exclaim. "I'm a real hero!"

Well this is a good as time as any to try out the Jac you figure. You put the glasses on and whisper quietly to yourself you say. "Jac where's the nearest bar." A few seconds pass before you hear you hear a chirp in your ear and a gps pops up in the bottom right corner of your vision.

"Greeting Atlas. I am Jackie your personalized Jac AI. I have found the nearest bar to you, The Old Ranger, located 6 blocks away."

Following the path you make your way to the bar and are greeted by a neon sign of a ranger above an old almost hidden away door. Pushing it open you're greeted to the smell of cigar smoke and the sound of an old jukebox playing country songs. Saddling up to the bar you ask the bartender for a drink.

While waiting you notice the news playing in a corner and two rookie heroes like yourself sitting over at a table.

Over the next several hours you spend the day relaxing as the other heroes keep to themselves. You nurse a couple glasses of whisky and drift around the bar overtime, you play darts, put some songs on the jukebox, and once even saddled up next to the two rookie heroes and chatted a little for a while. Eventually you find yourself playing pool with a random patron and as the game comes to a close you recline against the wooden bar and turn your attention towards the news. A newswoman sits in a chair and speaks with the leader of the MSF, Jamesons, celebrating the new year and the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the MSF. "Now please welcome our other guest the second in command of the MSF, [Null]!" She says throwing a hand to somewhere out of view. Marching on stage is the head enforcer of the MSF [Null], in his iconic costume. Black cargo pants, a form fitting and featureless black mask, motorbike armor, black leather gloves and boots. No skin or hair showing as always, and just in the same way he says nothing and just stands there behind Jamesons back.

It's pretty generic after that and you unfortunately feel your buzz coming down. You order another drink when suddenly the screen changes to another scene. A woman is on the street and behind her a building is on fire. "As you can we're here on 107 Broad St. Where suddenly an apartment block has caught fire." As she says those words an alert pops up in your Jac.

"Urgent: A fire has broken out on 107 Broad St. You and three others are the closest available heroes. Report of villain sighting. Do you accept the mission, there will be no penalty for declining." Jackie reads out the alert as it pops up. You hear chairs screech across the floor as the two rookie heroes leave in a run.

You stand up from the bar and feel the buzzed sensation begin to leave you as you get ready for your first fight. You make a run for the door and turn around last minute to grab your drink. As you run out with the drink you hear the bartender call from behind you. "Hey wait your bill!"

"Put it on a tab, I'll be back you!" You yell. You pop up the GPS on the Jac again and being running towards the rookies in the distance. One of them had flight and the power to control air, the other had granite skin, super lungs, and super strength.

"Oh hi." Says the Indian girl with short hair flying above her friend. "Guess you're joining us. This will be fun! Um I'd give you a lift too but I can only carry one, so see you there!" She says as she picks up her stone friend and carries her off towards the mission over a couple buildings.

'Alright I can't fly but I can get close to it.' You think. Suddenly you stop in your tracks and do a few hops in place as you stretch your limbs and steady your breathing. 'Okay so fire's three blocks away how much force'd I need.' Going over in your head quickly you do the calculations of how much force you think you'd need. Than you wind up your legs and jump. Air rushes past you, the ground falls away, you cover your drink with a hand, and your eyes begin to tear up. After quite a bit of falling you land about a block away from the building and run the rest of the way there.

You notice the entrance to the last block has been cordoned off by a line of bots, clearly the automated protectors made by [Professor Adam]. You get close to the line pushing your way through curious bystanders and as you approach the bot says. "Please step back and remain calm. The MSF has alerted all heroes in the nearby vicinity to the crisis. Help will arrive shortly."

"I am the help." You say pulling out your card and holding it up to the bot. A beam of light from its eye scans the card and you hear a few synthetic chirps.

"Hero: Atlas, recognized." It moves back from the line and extends an arm pointing towards the smoke in the distance. "Right this way sir."

You take off and round the corner, building in site. Something's speeding for you, it's the granite woman from earlier. Quickly you put your hand over your drink and duck into a roll. Rolling under you get back up into your run. From the fire you hear a crazed laugh and a figure emerges. Jackie's voice sounds in your ear. "Villain identified: [Maniac Jack]."

>Tell me what I'm dealing with Jackie!

"Jackie what am I dealing with here?" You ask the Jac glasses as you make out the figure emerging from the fire. Its body's made of thick green vines, the head of a jack-o-lantern atop its shoulders, fire billows forth from its mouth as it lets loose another laugh.

"Maniac Jack - Real name is Henry Jack. Former occupation was as a farmer. Fell into foster care at age 7 after his teacher made a report to the child services that he was being abused by his parents. Claimed later in life his foster parents also sexually abused him. Later was assigned a personal psychiatrist who believed Henry was under increasing danger of a psychotic break and showed signs of psychopathy. Henry's mental health later improved after meeting his future wife, Helen May, in highschool. Three years later she died due to cancer at which point Henry's health took a dramatic turn for the worse. Sued [Rycol International] on claims that it was their pesticide that caused the cancer, judge ruled in favor of Rycol despite evidence supporting Henry. Several years later Henry was linked to the murders of several dozen Rycol employees and their families. Tracked and confronted by the hero War Front who severely injured Henry before fleeing into a pumpkin field. Henry almost bled out in the field but moments before death his [Fons-gene] activated and as they say the rest is history." Jackie rattles off in your ear seeming to give you his entire life story.

As she does you scan the surrounding area for any remaining civilians and it seems thankfully clear. Up above you spot the flyer hero from earlier creating a safe space from the flames on top of the roof. "Ohohohoh. Some little naughties on the roof left? Let's take care of that!" You hear from the pumpkin man creature who begins twirling two hand scythes on chains. He seems to be aiming for the flyer.

Jumping into action you charge the villain, drink still in hand. Jackie continues again in your ear finally listing powers. "Powers - Agrokinesis, Pyrokinesis, Fire Immunity, Regeneration."

>>3729225
With a shout of anger you barrel into him throwing him into the wall of the next building. The dust you throw up from the impact fades and Jack starts getting back up. "Oh how delightful a new friend!" He charges at you in return and try to cut you with his scythes which you manage to avoid. He swings one of them down and you catch it with your left forearm letting out a hiss of pain as they bite down, their sharp edges cutting through your skin before being stopped by the muscle underneath.

"That all you got kid." He hisses in your face.

"No, I have a drink actually." He looks in confusion at your response as you down your drink with your right arm. Before you spew it out into his fire lit face.

He lets out a scream of panic backing off as he wipes at his head, blinded by his own flame.

>Check whatever the flyers protecting on the roof.

>Try to restrain him.

'Complete control over plant matter and fire, body's made of plants, regenerates, and surrounded by fire. Not a good match up for me.' You think. Best to hold him off and keep him occupied until someone who's a better match can show up. "So you wanna play rough eh?" He says in glee finally getting control of his fire again. "Well that's just fine. I like it rough!" He exclaims bringing up a scythe and running a tongue of fire across its edge.

You're launched into a full brawl. It's a full dance of you avoiding his attacks with precision and wailing back on him mercilessly. Each time you land a hit a shock wave rings out and a hole is blown straight through him. To your disappointment it does little as the other stalks and vines grow back repairing the wound. In fact he even starts using it to his advantage with some stalk rooting into cracks.

He starts to put distance between you and back off letting the stalks do the work. 'Need to make him angry, get him close.'

"Your wife would be so disappointed in the man you became." You tell him with a sad tone in your voice.

"DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT HER YOU BASTARD!" He screams at you, his rage fanning the fire ever higher. He launches at you in a flurry of undefended blows. With one punch you blow off half his pumpkin head. To which he rolls his head to one side before grinning and spitting out some pumpkin seeds. "Get a new trick." He says mockingly. You feel some anger surge in you and go for another hit.

There's a slight tug of resistance, but quickly you feel a snap, hear the sound of stone breaking, and destroy the rest of his head. Looking behind you and down at your wrist you see the destroyed remnants of a vine and the wall of another building. "Underestimated me. Big mistake." You say. Walking to the destroyed wall you pull out a piece of old rebar and walk back over to Maniac Jack, who's begun to regenerate already. You raise the bar above him, and say, "Don't get up." before spearing him to the concrete with it.

You look towards the roof and see the flyer's still there. Your Jac gives you a notification telling you she has one of her own which you use to establish a chatroom with her. "So what you doing up there, um..." You ask casually crossing your arms.

A strained grunt of effort comes through the Jac. "It's Aero and some... people didn't get out. A stone column... collapsed on the stairs. I've got a wall of wind around them keeping the flames away, but it won't last."

'Neither will the building.' "Say weren't we suppose to have a fourth guy."

"Look in the corner of your vision they declined the job, system's still looking for a Hero to accept."

'Bastard.' You think.

You look down at the regenerating villain and back up to the building. You could probably save the people, but Jack would get away, probably.

>Jump up to the roof and hop the people across to a neighboring roof.
>Charge into the building and remove the pillar. Your regen could help enough to save you, and you could have Aero make a tunnel through the flames for the people.

People, the people come first, it's your job as a hero to protect them. 'Deep breaths. Remember to keep a tight grip but not crushing and not to disturb the building too much.' You take some deep breaths and get ready to jump before you remember the villain behind you. You look back and his form's nearly regenerated. You consider try to bend the rebar around him more but dismiss the idea, he's made of plants after all, something he has complete control over. He could just slide his body out around any bars. You walk back over to him and stomp on the reforming pumpkin head to buy yourself more time. 'He'll be fine.'

You leap up the building's roof and land in an area untouched by the fire, a wall of wind keeping the flames away. Three families immediately rush to you and begin crowding you. You're overwhelmed and they push through each other all trying to get at you and beg you to save them.

(Talking seems to win with the first two and the one supporting a mix.)
"Everyone!" You shout over them trying to get their attention, fortunately it seems to work, your voice aided by your stature and urgency. "Please calm down! I'm a hero and my name is Atlas. I'm getting you out of here two at a time, but I need you to calm down. Line around the center of the roof, woman and children first!" It takes you a moment but they comply. The first in line is a woman who presses her kids into your arms and begs you to take them first. You nod and jump to the roof of the building across the street holding onto them tightly. It takes some time but steadily you get them across.

As you finish you go to the edge of a building to look down where you left Maniac Jack and to your dismay see him gone. You look down the road and see him making a run for it with the granite girl in pursuit, and Aero going after him now that the people are safe, but losing ground. You begin to feel a feeling of hopelessness as you fear you may lose him when suddenly you see a blur at the end of the street. It's getting closer and suddenly Jack is flung back and hits the ground hard as if clotheslined.

You look to the corner of your vision where the pics and name of the heroes who've accepted lay and you see a fourth hero, finally, with the name Peregrine under Atlas, Mica, and Aero.

The granite girl, Mica, now catches up to him and stomps on his legs as he tries to get up. After that Aero flies up to him and uses her wind powers on him. Your Jac crackles and Aero's voice comes through. "He's down for the count, seems like extinguishing his flame knocks him out."

You feel a burst of air behind you, and confirming your suspicions, as you turn around you see the purple suited speedster Peregrine, with a falcon's head emblazoned on his chest. "Hey.NamesPeregrine,butyoucancallmePereorjustGrine." He rattles off like this for a few seconds. Speaking so fast you think your head will spin off. Calmly and in a controlled manner you place your hand on his mask.

"Shhhhhh.... shhhhhhh. Let's tone that back a little pal. Talking so fast I can barely understand you."

He rubs the back of his head and lets out a slight chuckle. "Right sorry. I was saying sorry I'm late. By the time it cycled around to me, so many had turned it down I was a few dozen blocks away." You give him an understanding nod. You're about to ask him how long you think it'll be till the MSF and 911 get here but hear someone arguing in the crowd. You see the front of the crowd make way for a woman and a young man who is attempting to drag her back. "Dammit mama. Its too dangerous for them, you have to leave them!"

The old black woman turns back and shouts at the boy. "Like hell I do! Now let go of me before I beat you over the head with my purse Jamal!" That seems to get him to let go and the old lady rushes over to you. "Please sirs. My cats are still in my apartment. My son dragged me out before I could grab them but they should be in locked in the bathroom, they should still be safe. Please go back for them!"

"Peregrine." You say turning to him. "If I can get you over there do think you can get to them in time."

"Depends. My top speed is 200mph, but I should be able to run through the flames before they can burn me. Suit should also help." You nod and sweep him up bridal style. "Woah, buy me dinner first."

"Don't make me drop you." You tell him as you hop across the street to the other building. The scent of acrid smoke filling your nose now that the fire is spreading to the rest of the roof. You run to the door and using your strength kick it off its hinges into the burning staircase below, where crashes and clatters into the dark.. "Go!"
-------
Peregrine ran into the smoke, helmet protecting his eyes, and enhanced reflexes helping him to avoid obstacles as he ran down the stairs. The heat from the flames was already getting to him but his speed helped make a shield of displaced air that warped the flames and smoke away from him directly. He ran into several apartments finding them devoid of everything and even one with out a floor. Finally as he was down three floors from the roof he found the room, 97. As he burst in he heard the desperate mewling of several cats from a bathroom door that had a blanket thrown down at the base keeping the smoke out.

He wrenched the door open, only placing his hand on the knob for a second but still feeling the burn through his suit. Unlike most of the apartment the tiled brightly lit bathroom remained mostly untouched and smoke free. The two cats sat in the tub looking up expectantly in confusion. One an orange tabby and the other... Peregrine wasn't quite sure. "Whoa you are an ugly cat." He said.

Not wanting them to get hurt you grabbed the blanket from outside and threw it into the sink turning the water on, which mercifully worked, and let it soak for a few seconds.

Grabbing the dripping wet blanket he went over to the tub and said. "Sorry bout this guys, but it's best you got something soft for the acceleration and wet for the fire." A confused meowing responded.
-------
A minute or two later Peregrine emerged from the smoking staircase holding a loud and thrashing bundled blanket. "Pleasegetusovertherebeforetheyclawthroughtome!" He yelled urgently. Complying you swooped him up again and landed safely back on the other roof. The old lady rushes up to you, as Peregrine releases the two sopping wet cats, giving you each a peck on the cheek and pulling you into a hug where she than precedes to thank you repeatedly. Aero's also flown to the roof now and deposited Mica and the knocked out Maniac Jack who's wrapped in a steel bar.

You wait for about another minute before you hear choppers in the distance.

Soon they're overhead and from them drops several bots bearing the mark of [Prometheus Industries] and the MSF. They form a circle around where the helicopter lands and several men in suits exit. "Greetings." Says one of them walking up to you. He waves over one of the bots who makes its way towards Aero, who holds Jack.

It makes a few deep and echoing synthetic beeps before saying. "Please hand over the apprehended criminal mam. You will not be asked again." She complies with little resistance and the bot carries the unconscious Jack back to the copter.

The man places a finger next to his ear and you hear him say under his breath. "They got him. Tell the Professor's bots to let the police and fire department through now." He looks back to you with a likely practiced and relaxed grin. "Now the payout for catching Jack is 2000 credits. How's payment going down?"

"Everyone should get 25%." You say. "This was a team effort and he probably would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for everyone here." The man gives you a nod and tell you it'll be sent to your accounts later tonight. Mica leans in and gives you a whisper of thanks considering she got knocked out pretty early on.

And so just as quickly as they so do they leave. Taking Maniac Jack to some far off hellhole where he should never see the light of day again, or for three weeks till a competent villain takes interest in a prison and breaks everyone out.

The fire department finally shows as do the police now that it's safe enough for them to move in and soon enough an ambulance shows up to look over the people you rescued. You all begin to clear out when Aero suggest you all head back to The Lone Ranger to celebrate.

You chat with each other as you walk back, after the other three leave for a moment to change out of their costumes. You burst through the door and begin asking for more drinks which the bartender sends you off to some booth near the door with. You drink and celebrate with your impromptu teammates who you learn a bit more about, and finally take your chance to get a good look at them out of costume. Guessing at everyone's age they all seem to be rookies as well and at least a year or two within your age range.

Aero's the closest around your age presumably and is pretty easy to tell is an Indian immigrant from her brown skin, dark short curled hair, and a slight accent that still refuses to leave after years of living here.

Mica is the tallest of you all, at around 6'7", with curly black hair. You can't exactly tell what she is cause her skin is green granite with white veins. But you just assume her to be of mixed race.

Peregrine is the oldest of you and is a pretty nondescript freckled ginger. He's also been hitting on Mica for a while who usually responds with threats to break his hands.

You make your way to the pool table and ask Peregrine if he'd be interested in a game. He goes to grab some cues and as he goes you tell him. "Hey check if they got any appetizers. They should right?" He gives a nod. Meanwhile you divert your attention to the television.

You see yourself jumping between the rooftops carrying the people you see and several other highlights of the battle and your teammates actions. Peregrine returns with a tray of buffalo wings and two cues as the clips seem to becoming to an end. You spend the next hour or so halfheartedly playing pool while watching the news. Once the clips ended they cut back to the Director of the MSF Jamesons, the newswoman, and Null. Jamesons seems to spin your heroic acts into positive press for the MSF. "You see this is exactly why the MSF is a good thing, the system works!" He says vehemently. "Here we have four sanctioned heroes, one of which got his license today, and not a single causality. All done within the confines of the law. Criminal caught, people safe, and all done within thirty minutes of the fire starting." Jamesons reclines comfortably with his hands in his lap. "Look at what things were like before the MSF, look at what happened to Cuba! The actions..."

You feel a tap on your shoulder. Peregrine looks at you with a grin. "Hey man your turn."

>Keep watching, let's see where he takes this.
>Shut the TV off, you're actions weren't meant to deify others.

You decide it best to ignore whatever the director says, probably some spiel about the destruction of Cuba, and just focus on your friendly game with Peregrine. He plays well, very well actually! But as the march of time drags on it is clear he's no match for you. Peregrine reflexes may help him to adjust his shots last moment, but his speed is no help and the booze has definitely affected him more than you. For you the game lacks challenge since all it comes down to is math, something you excel at.

Peregrine lets out a flurry of curses as you win the game and challenges you to another round. He puts up a much better fight but it's still an uphill battle. You take a buffalo wing. "Get sauce on my cues and I'll break them over your head!" The bartender yells. Quickly you lick your fingers and dry them off on your shirt.

Peregrine challenges you several more times after losing, and after that the trend continues with you not losing a single time. A slumped over and defeated Peregrine finally admits his match.

Looking at the clock you see it's around one AM.

Best you make sure everyone gets home safe. The girls seem pretty wasted, Peregrine is slurring and starting to have trouble walking. Even you're starting to feel the buzz amp up. You walk over to the table where Aero and Mica are with Peregrine and tell them it's probably time for them to head home. Aero tries to convince you they're fine but if anything strengthens her argument, as you aren't even sure what she said was a human language.

You get out your cell and call a taxi. It's a tight fit but you squeeze everyone in. You ask them for their information and after a few attempts are able to get them to transfer it to your Jac. Peregrine lives in what appears to be cheap flat and gives you all a wave goodbye. Mica lives it a gated community where she waves you and Aero, or rather Amita, bye at the gate.

Finally it's just you and Aero. Time seems to pass more slowly now seeming to stretch on without end until finally a small house pulls into view. You escort Amita to the door of her house where she begins to lean in. You think you know where this is going.

>Stop her with a finger. "You're not in your right mind, get some rest."
>Lean in too.
>Stop her and tell her you don't know her well enough.

Different topic: does our regeneration continuously reduce our blood alcohol level? Does it also reduce our need for sleep?

You reach out with a single finger stopping her. Making her look at you with a very far away and cloudy stare. She seems nice and maybe if things were different, but.... you can't do it. You rescind the finger and stand straight trying to make your words clear. "Amita, you're drunk and not in your right mind. Get some rest and sleep it off." She looks at your for a few moments before nodding. You believe a sigh of relief, disaster avoided. With everyone seen home safe you hop back in the cab and return home yourself. A small apartment black made almost entirely of steel and glass comes into view, you live in the "Neo" district. An old industrial part of the city that Professor Adam has sunk many resources into to bring to the forefront of technology. One of the better places to live, but a little pricey.

You greet the doorman and head up to your apartment. Gently opening the door and flicking on the switch the lights come on. You see your bed and work table with the blueprints you've made in the past on it past the kitchen/dining room.

You walk over to your work table, illuminated by a strong of lights above. On the desk you have a two monitor computer, some Soldering tools, a couple spools of wire in a drawer, some blueprints tucked away, a microscope, another draw full of old plastics and electronics, and the wrapper from a eaten cream cheese danish which you throw away.

You pull out your chair and take off the Jac putting them under the light. The augmented reality glasses give off a slight gleam and you think you can see where they house the AI.

After examining the glasses for several hours. You believe you've come up with several possible changes you could make.

>Attempt to make the Jac more compact. (Work on turning it into an earpiece.)
>Attempt to improve the AI of Jackie.
>Attempt to transplant the Jackie AI into the chip at the base of your spine.

>82: Major Success
As you crack open the tiny bump on the outside of the glasses you pull them under the microscope to get a better look at what you're doing. The way they've designed the AI makes your soul cry for being so simple and inefficient, though it was likely only designed to get the job done while being cheap. It wasn't able to learn or do anything really other than tailor its responses to its owner.

Well there has to be some starting point you think to yourself.

Hours pass and the sun begins to rise on the horizon, you wipe the sweat from your forehead and place the cover back over the bump that stores the AI. You did what you could in one night. First and foremost was disconnecting the remote access Prometheus had to their AI. It took some time but you were able to sever it from their servers without sending any alerts... you think. You also sped up the processing of the AI so now it should respond faster and improve its capabilities all around.

With a satisfied nod you place the glasses in the drawer and walk over to your fold out bed where you collapse as the sun rise. A smile on your face and a new destiny laid out before you.

(Gonna end this one off here for now and go back to Space Colony. Starting the cycle over.)
