You are Ushi Walker, also going by your hero name Loanstar, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", U.A. High first year student, one of Edgeshot's Sidekick/Unpaid-Interns and one of, of not the best model the sculptor has worked with. After all, he just told you that he doesn't often work on a 1:1 scale. Which makes you wonder whether he has worked with someone who can shrink, or there's some human-sized statues out there, spooking the distracted like the suits of armor on old dusty homes."So, mind tellin' me what we doin' here?" You ask to the old man from your position on his workstation, as he pokes you in the armpit with a stick, guiding your arm up.There's no other way to say how it feels but strange. There's nothing weird about it, as you can see how he carefully sculpts the triceps on the figure's arm, but moving according to someone's else's designs is… well, strange.>"You asked what I recommend, and that would be both a sturdy figure and a detailed one" He answers, focusing on the other tiny figure on the mobile workbench, tracing the tip his precision knife on the underside of the figure's arm, carving the tiniest of crevasses to imitate how yours looks. "Were it to be mass produced, it would certainly be expensive, but your audience is sure to appreciate it being exact."It's amazing to see how precise his work was, to the point that the tip of his blade was trailing a small string of material. Then, about thirty minutes later, it hits you, when he starts adding material to the hand, seemingly to start working on your glove."So, how long does this kinda thing take?" You ask, noticing that despite you having held the same position for what feels like half an hour, and the arm looks uncannily humanlike, most of the body was still a blank slate.>"Not much more than any other way to do it." He assures you, not changing his speed in any way.You nod and sigh, glad it won't take too long. When you arrived back in your costume, Johai was drinking a frankly awfully looking glass of… sludge.By the time the sculptor is done working on your other arm, he was not only done with that, but he has had time to produce a small book and flip through a few pages. You, on the other hand, are left standing on uncomfortable positions as you are professionally stared at and prodded with a stick.Despite knowing on some level that it would happen, you can't help but get red faced when you see the sculptor add a large mass of material to the figure's chest. It makes it a relief when Edgeshot walks up to the workstation, a welcome distraction.>"Would you tell me what is it that you are doing?" He asks, looming over your tiny self.
"Modelling, sir!" You answer eagerly, jumping in place. While you are that excited, it's mostly to stretch your muscles and remind your skeleton that those wonderful things called joints are meant to move. "Ah bet it'll look just like little ol' me!">"Yes, that's the idea." The hero replies, then turning towards the sculptor. "If you are going to etch every… contour, this will take about… I think another three hours""What?" You ask, surprised.>"Closing on four really. I plan on getting the figure and gear both ready by the end." The sculptor corrects him. "I hope I'm not keeping any important hero businesses?""Hang on!-" You squeak on deaf ears, waving for attention that's not granted.>"Not at all, she can cover it with her lunch time and starting her training earlier tomorrow.""You said it wouldn't take long!" You denounce, pointing your tiny arm and hand at the sculptor.>"No kind of sculpting would take less than 5 hours with anyone else, and it would certainly be a lesser piece." The hero interjects. "Be glad it's just that.""...my lunch?" You utter, somewhat defeated, pouting.>"You should have thought of that before accepting an hours long task. Take it as a lesson, if you must. Heroes are free to do anything, but that doesn't mean you don't have to deal with the consequences." He tells you, before maybe, having some pity on you. "Have a snack and come find us at the training rooms when you are done. There's things we need to go over, and skills you'll both need.">"Isn't that incentivising bad behaviors, sir?" Johai asks the elder ninja. "The snacks, I mean.">"There's an afternoon of training and an evening of skulking before us, going beyond that would not only be cruel, but dangerous." The hero rebukes him sternly. "Follow me, I still need to see what you can do with your quirk.""...Bye." You let out dejected as the ninjas leave you behind. The resentment bites at you for some minutes, but in time, your excitement burns bright anew. How would it not? By the time the sculptor is done, it's like looking at the mirror!A somewhat dull mirror with strange indentations where your joints would be, but a mirror nonetheless! After spending more time than you'd care to admit making your doppelganger pose and then imitating it, you finally hop off the mobile workstation, enlarging yourself back to your natural size, give or take half an inch.>"Once more, just remember who made it when you make it to the big leagues." The sculptor says as he hands you the finished figure, now in its own stand."Will do, Mr. Kamihara sir!" You answer, bowing deeply. Not the kind of courtesy you are most comfortable with, but well deserved by someone so well versed in their craft.
You then waste no time running up to the elevator and (after waiting within it) to your room, placing down the figure safely within a drawer. Knowing you have no time for lunch, you slap a piece of cold salmon between two slices of white bread and pretend it's not a culinary crime as you down it with a glass of you-don't-know-but-was-in-a-carton-in-the-fridge.You can only hope it won't come bite you in the ass later as you dash to the training rooms, finding the ninjas in costume on one that you hadn't been in before, another wood-paneled faux-Edo style room, but it's easy to notice by the sliding door that the walls are at least two feet thick, and the dark glass looks a few shades of black off from the rest, it'd all be strange, if not for the floor. The padded floor makes it clear that it must be some sort of heavy duty training room. Just a really pretty one with seemingly no usage so far.>"Officially, you are here to see how heroes operate. But that means that you need to be competent enough to be helpful or not a hindrance at least." Edgeshot starts the moment you enter. "However, I wouldn't have drafted you if you didn't clear that bar already.">"Thank you, master." Johai says, placing his fist in his palm and bowing slightly. You just give a thumbs up and a smile.>"But tonight might be a dangerous one, one on which I might need you on the front lines and taking down threats alone won't cut it." Edgeshot ominously continues, producing a manila envelope. "And for that, I need to know for a fact that you can hold your own against… whoever did this."The hero then opens it, taking out one of several large pictures and handing it to you.>"The mine… Is that… a dog?" Johai asks, looking over your shoulder, tilting his head to avoid your horns."'t was, once." You reply, looking at the black and green picture. "Poor mutt must have been rottin' for… Huh. Ah have no idea how long."A dog, in a weird state of rot. No lower jaw and it's throat was ripped out. No real way to know how with the way the rotten tissue fully blackened the area. The rest of the carcass looks far fresher though. One of the good things of growing up on a ranch in the south is that hunting, roadkill and butchering are somewhat common scenes. It's sad for the dog, but nothing you'd lose your miserable lunch over.>"No one does, the drone that was sent in was recalled after taking the pictures, as to not alert whoever is using the place." The hero says, taking the picture back and showing you another, a simple picture of boxes and a wooden crate, the later stamped with the date of last saturday. He then puts both in the envelope and puts it aside. "But it's easy to assume someone's quirk is involved. That mine is full of blackdamp, animals dying would be normal, but it shouldn't decay like that without oxygen, not to mention what actually killed it."
"Right… Decay quirks. Those are fun." You say, recalling what happened at USJ. At least that one made things fall apart, not rot into black fleshy pudding. "Why isn't that place closed again?">"I won't ask you to fight, but to know how to survive if you do." He says before answering more directly. "The old mine is a naturally stable High Level <Mazuku> event-""Ah'm sorry, Ah don't know what that one is." You quickly interject, asking for clarification.>"Evil Wind. It's not japanese, but it means that if anyone were to somehow disturb that gas pocket, a cloud of nigh-indetectable gas spanning several blocks would roll out." The hero explains. "In such a case, we'd need someone able to displace several cubic meters of air quickly, as that would render it harmless."You and your fellow intern share a quick glance, understanding.Either of you could deal with this with a block of styrofoam and some stamina.>"What do you need us to do?" Johai asks before you can.>"For now, spar. Show me what you can do so I can help you build upon it." He says, looking at the center of the room. "The room and building can take it, just be careful with your fellow student."The moment he finishes speaking, the younger ninja does a flip and goes to stand in the middle of the room, waiting.>What do you do?>[Never not ready! WELCOME BACKAlright, Kamihara, gotta remember that name for later.Enjoy that Ushi takes scenes of death pretty well for her age. Now finally I hope that sometime later that we will be able to make use of Edgeshots internship to do some self reflection and maybe shore up some bridges with people. Also I see we have 2d with Kyoka, would there be any chance we could come together and agree that should be for Mom and not her? We barely have cleared the air with Kyoka off but we are already really trusting with Momma to the point that you both hosted a banger of a party together for your social benefit. Not particularly tall and wearing loose clothing, there's not much intimidating about Johai's physique, if anything. That's not to say his quirk wouldn't be a problem, but you can't help but be confident in the knowledge that you'd dominate the floor if you get your hands on him.Heck, one would do!"Ah can't promise Ah won't break 'im." You tell your mentor, strutting towards the center of the room with your spurs lazily jingle-jangling all the way. "Want me to focus on anythin' in particular? Quirk use? Close Quarter? Something else? Ah'd like havin' a goal more specific than just bringin' the pain.">"Surprise me. Show me wildcards, show me things no villain would see coming." The hero says, taking a step forwards for what you assume will be a demonstration. "You can't practice ten thousand kicks in a week, competence at ten thousand different ones will have to do."...And you aren't wrong, as Edgeshot's arm stretches and thins into the piercing string you've come to know. Instead of weaving as if looking for an opening however, this time he twists his body at the waist, swinging his stringlike arm as a whip, slicing clean through the decorative wood of the wall in front of him and raising a small cloud of dust. You can only assume it left a mark on the concrete.>"If you are capable, show me that you can win without touching him." He continues, taking the wind off your sails before turning towards your fellow intern. "If you can, do something other than throwing scrap at people."Once more, you share a glance with the younger ninja. I'm not sure either it says. You don't back down though."Well then, pal. Ready when you are… Just grit yer teeth." You tell him adopting a wide, wrestling stance almost out of sheer muscle memory, but partly to show off too.>"I've been ready since took my place." He says, somewhat smuggly. "Sir, when does it end?">"When one of you don't want to go on. In the end, it's just training." Edgeshot answers, then continues somehow sounding both factual and threatening. "If I see any kind of injury or otherwise see you going overboard, I'll stop you."With that, it's settled.Neither of you need to hear anything else. You know it's on.Looking at him from 10 feet away, you try to read him. Not to hard, as he bobs on his knees with one of his hands hovering over the pouches on his belt…...Right. It's been a while since you had to fight in costume. He looks distracted, though. Not exactly looking at you.

While it's nowhere near as formal as the tournament was, the brief silence, the dead air before either of you does their move… It's just as tense. You don't know what will the best way to take him down, nor what will he do. Should you try to cause as much damage as possible within the least amount of time and end this as soon as possible? Try and make it a sports-like showcase of your skillsets? The standstill doesn't last though, as you push your muscles to swing your arm down as fast as you can, intent on taking the first move and quickly snatching the reinforced rope off your belt, the you asked the support kids to make and are eager to test.Johai himself doesn't wait an instant either, sliding his hand by his own belt and pouches, flipping the flap so fast you wouldn't even think it opened, if not for the arc his arm follows. To you, it's as clear as water that he's still going to throw something at you, fast!"Not so fast, sugah!" You let out as you spin the rope overhead once.>"I don't plan on standing still!" He yells back, jumping to the side and trying to go around you, keeping you in his sight. But once is all you need. You can tell it's weight distribution with a touch. It's strong and stiff, a good work rope, and for you that can tie some knots single handedly, there's nothing you can't do with a good rope! With a flick of your wrist the loop flies sideways, perpendicularly to the floor. And more importantly, catching your foe's arm in midair, proving a fatal flaw in moving with your arms behind you and short work of his attempt to dodge. With and a single arm and your back, you pull on his arm and SLAM him against the padded floor. You don't get to congratulate yourself though, as you just manage to hear a clink against the wall behind you before a large, chromed, heavy hex nut slams against the back of your calves, swiping your feet from under you and quickly switching your perception of forwards with the ceiling.Considering you were just hit with a piece of metal the size of a tire, you consider the soreness on your calves to be something of a blessing.Or maybe you just screwed with his aim, you don't know nor have time to think about it, as you feel a rather strong pull on the rope you are still holding tight.Looking down your shoulder, as to see something below your chest, you can see Johai grab the underside of his bracer with his throwing hand, likely undoing the fastening.

You smile, you know what to do, as you've been here before, in a way.Much like how it was back on the Cavalry Battle when you helped Momo return after what looked like a desperate dive for your headband.Well, she cooperated back then, unlike the boy tearing at his bracer, but what is tying people for but to get them to do what you want against their will? It's almost a marvel to watch, as you are pretty sure people aren't meant to be able to move their fingers damn sideways, but the clasps on his bracer fly open in less than a tenth of a second each. Who knows how fast it could be if he opened his other hand and tried to wiggle it off too. A shame to stop him dead on his tracks, but what else can a girl do?You don't need to see what you are doing, turning your wrist to wrap the rope around your hand and janking HARD, not even letting your own concentration on your quirk slow you down. The white mist that covers your target barely has time to exist before being pulled back towards you, looking more like a jet trail before returning to nothingness.Perhaps if it had all been less frantic you would have noticed the gleaming line running parallel to your rope, connecting the now tiny ninja to something behind you.Having barely an instant to react, you just grab you sparring partner firmly.A moment later, the tire-sized nut hits you on the side. Jacket, thick bodysuit and proud muscle can only do so much to minimize what feels like, well, several pounds of steel at high speed. You are only sure that the sound your bending ribs made was more of a CREEE-AK tha anything else, but it's hard to know as it was drowned by the wheezing air scaping your lungs through your mouth and the sound the rest of you does when you rolling along the floor.>"You didn't think you'd be the only who'd try to wield a weapon, didn't you?" Johai says defiantly from your grasp, the now normal sized nut spinning by your thumb, held with what looks to your dizzy eyes like fishing line. >>3816004>[He's talking mad shit for a human yo-yo. Maybe a few spins will make him throw the towel "...Ah know one of those, ours spin tho. Lemme show you..."]I suggest going with "Walk the Dog" first, and maybe "Around the World". Also, didn't we want to do these to Sero back at the Sports Festival?
You aren't one to quit when things get though, heck, you are pretty sure most of the people who have heard of you knows you for your tenacity and awesome toughness! Or so you hope anyway. But even you know when the effort is not worth it, like a spar without anything on the line that you have already lost by any metric. But he still has the moxie to brag about his weapon A weapon on the same complexity level of SWINGING A SOAPBAR IN A STOCKING!...Or a yo-yo."...Ah know one of those, ours spin tho. Lemme show you..." You tell the ninja in your hand, deftly spinning a ring of rope around your middle finger and then letting him go->"What are you doing, releasing a captive like that!?" He chastises you as he dives down, seemingly pretending to land rolling onto the padded floor.-For about two to three seconds, before janking him back up with a sudden jerk of your wrist, neatly entangling him like an actual yo-yo."Give up yet?" You ask, dropping him again before hearing any answer, flicking your wrist to send him spinning even faster this time. "Can't hear ya!"Of course it's petty as hell, even a bit cruel… But it's so very cathartic, almost therapeutic to your sore ribs. You are pretty sure it'd stop hurting after some tricks. Walk the dog would be fun.But it's not to be.>"That's enough, Star." Your mentor stops you around the fifth time. "It's clear there's no point to continuing this.""Ah've been thinkin' the same for a tad now, but he wasn't havin' it! No sirree!" You say, giving Johai a last spin before letting him fall to the floor, landing on his feet with a soft thud. "Ah reckon Ah'm mighty impressed he kept his lunch.">"Standard Seijin training. The school's pride on their graduate's speed and dizzying moves would be worthless if the students suffered them as much as the villains." Edgeshot calmly explains. "Return him to normal."Holding on to your rope, you just focus for a fraction of a second and a curtain of white mist covers the rope and your fellow intern, quickly dispersing and revealing them both back in their normal sizes. While the red ninja doesn't look at all happy, he doesn't look nearly as mad as you thought he'd be. Maybe it's the mask, but he looks more frustrated than angry as he quickly unties your noose from his bracer.>"For something never tried before, I do think that went well." He comments, returning his string-and-nut bolt to his pouch as you hook your rope back onto your belt.>"Good attempts, but that's all that was." Edgeshot says, his critique stinging something fierce as he stands before you, looking down on both. "Johai, your quirk is powerful and your training in weapon techniques is at the very least standard for any Seijin student. What were you doing?"
>"... I tried to be act more impulsively, perhaps if I were to allow myself to go with the flow of battle… Then I could think outside the box, as you have so encouraged me to do, sir!" The younger ninja admits, slumping his shoulders and sounding in far more pain than he did a few seconds ago.>"Anything in your hands is a weapon, triggered at your command." The elder ninja states, as a fact. "The strike on the swing back was a good start, but you need to build upon that idea."Edgeshot then grabs his index finger and pulls on it, stretching it about a foot.>"This was all I could do when I started training." He continues, letting go of his finger, which snaps back to form. "Keep training, don't let your confidence falter and explore everything your quirk allows. Try caltrops next time.">"Thank you, sir." Johai replies, bowing. Then the hero turns his attention to you.>"Remarkable power, overwhelming speed and impressive toughness. As expected of the U.A.'s Freshman's Sports Festival." He praises you, which somehow feels like he's raising a hammer over your self-esteem. "You don't seem to have issues thinking fast, and acting equally as fast. There's nary a moment where that doesn't work, isn't there? Withstanding any hit and outmuscling your foes? How do you think that would work if it wasn't just Johai, but a group? Would you have been able to take multiple hits like that?"You bite your tongue, almost commenting on how ninjas always seem to take turns to attack anyway. Those are movies!"Only a couple more…" You admit, rubbing the area over your bodysuit. It's slowly fading, but breathing still hurts a bit.>"Look at me." He then says. You look up to see him cocking his arm back, as if to swing at you… Then he does.A cream colored blur passes through were your head just was, obliterating the white mist your dodging left on its wake. You quickly enlarge yourself back to your normal and most comfortable size, taking a few bewildered steps back, alarmed."WHAT WAS THAT ALL 'BOUT!?" You ask, rightfully indignated.>"Confirmation. Your body and reflexes training are well on their way." He calmly answers taking a step back himself." If you couldn't avoid Johai's last hit, it was because you didn't see his set up. That's what we are to work on, you more than anyone should know how sometimes you can't afford a single hit.""Oh." You let out. Yeah that makes sense. Too much sense.

The question itself is surprising, you didn't expect to have input on to what you'd be doing during your internship, nor that you'd be allowed to waste your morning on such a vanity project as getting yourself a plastic duplicate, but you aren't going to complaint. And even though you picked him for a reason, and that's not what he just offered you, you know better than to presume to know better than any of the top heroes of the country.Except maybe number 2. You have... strong opinions on his choices."Okay! Let's do that!" You say, slamming your fist onto your open palm, bursting with enthusiasm. "...How do we do that?">"There are many ways to train both dynamic vision and static vision, but The Nimpo Maze would be the perfect place to quickly show you the basics." He says, walking away from you and towards the door, motioning for you to follow. "Cloaked in shadows, with twisted walls and crooked halls, an empty area from which to skulk without easy escape."You can see how that would be a good place to do it in but that still doesn't tell you what you are going to do."So, we are gonna go hide in a dark room together!" You gasp and summarize out loud as you skip behind him. "What are we gonna do in the maze?"For some reason, the always cool hero stumbles before switching to a longer stride, building a distance between the two of you as he leaves the room.>"There were no tall tales, at all." The hero mutters.>"She does it on purpose, sir!" Johai comments as you leave him behind in the room. Not knowing what he means, nor really interested in finding out, you just follow your mentor, opting for a melodious strut on the wooden, creaky floor, one that tries to complement Edgeshot's steps, almost managing to sound good.>"What we are going to do is simple." The hero explains once you reach the room the maze is in, turning off most of the lights right after you enter. "All you need to do is grab the tip of my all my five fingers.""What." Is all you manage to say, looking at his hand a few feet away from you. Then his fingers shoot out like silly string over the maze, likely going for entrances you have never even thought of."Ooh… <Easy-peasy>!" You say, giving him a thumbs up. "Ah'll get this done inna New York minute and we'll all be home for dinner!">"How gleeful. I'll wait for you, then." The hero replies, not sounding too sincere.Perhaps it's related to the fact that right after telling him it'd take no time, he pulled out a small paperback book out of his costume. You roll your eyes, shrink yourself and jump into the maze. The rest of your afternoon is spent in the maze, shrunk to the size of your model, finding your way and your mentor's string-like fingers in the dimly lit labyrinth, running from shadows, chasing running threads lead by a nail and jumping at hidden ones whenever you saw them.
Every time you caught one, the rest would shift, two disappearing into the umbra and two lashing out and weaving around. It made it impossible to ever hold more than one.You need, however, to remember and ask him later how he does his nails. It takes hours of running and jumping around for you stop doing it.After you stop blindly running and jumping, however, you start getting the hang of it.You walk in the dark, keeping your breathing in check once more and letting yourself relax a bit.You aren't any less focused… just more flexible. Catching one after the other looked pointless, for a tad… But paying attention to your whole vision at once, it starts making sense, seeing the threads pull back slightly and twitch.Instead of just lunging at them blindly, you pay attention for a minute, then go.The first one is easy, the second one you saw slide back and forth before, so you can intercept it with a stomp (and a shout of "Sorry!"), the third you knew would flail in your direction, so you catch it along the fourth in a hug. Sadly, the last one vanishes through the maze's ways before you can catch it."Get back here, you <pinko!>" You yell at the escaping pinky finger right before the other four lash out at once, throwing you off and escaping. You sigh, but get ready to try again with a smile. You got it.Before too long, you got it well enough. Not what any particular finger can tell nor prepare to do, but what it's about to do right before they do it. Or maybe when they start doing it. All that matters is that you don't let them do it."<Five little monkeys, hanging from a tree~>" You try to rhyme as you exit the maze with the finger-threads tied in a bundle over your shoulder. "<Ah can't recall the rhyme, but it sure wasn't this grim.>">"I never thought of New York as a sleepy town." Your mentor comments as he close his book, giving you the somewhat scary impression that he didn't even need to pay attention to do all of that."...Ah reckon Ah may have… overestimated mahself. Better than the alternative though, right!" You say, dropping the bundle of fingers. Before you can untie them though, they unravel themselves, zipping away before returning to his hand.>"This will have to do for today. 7PM, first floor. Be ready, tonight is important." The hero says before walking away, turning around for a last observation. "Well done."You may or may have squeed at that. With the faint sunlight throught the windownOuthink is now 2!>What do you do?>[Change and go out to town to find something to eat nearby and watch the news. You could go hungry, but why would you, given the chance not to?...But you can't go out on your own in costume, you need to change! ...And you'd do well with a good scrubbing!Realizing the urgency of your situation, you waste no time and put the pedal to the metal, as it were, running down the wooden hall, your spurs turning the manic percussion into a melody that's more reminiscing of windchimes falling down a flight of stairs than any music, but there's no time to dance."If Ah hurry, Ah should be able to get in the shower, in 'n out, dry, get dressed, get to a fast food place, eat something, change back and… And…" You say, trailing out as you reach your room, suddenly finding yourself speechless.Inside, on the floor, are Tin and your plastic doppelganger seemingly playing poker on the floor, with Tin's tail moving the figure's hand to put a card down next to the five between them."...Ooh, Hold 'em!" You say when you identify what is going on, not stopping to check if you are winning, not having the time for that.It takes you until you have taken off your suit and hung it to ventilate to realize how weird that thought was."You know you can't really play by yourself, right?" You ask your robot as you gather some fresh clothes and hold them close, rushing for the shower. "You won't get a good game if you can see both hands!">"I can't, mistress." The robot replies, turning both its head and the doll's to look at you. "It's running on a semiconscious Virtual Intelligence, with one control of one of my appendages. I can't access it as it runs.""...Like an imaginary friend?... but conscious." You try to summarise it in a way that doesn't sound like madness. Robots can't go mad, after all. "Roll 'n talk with me sugar, Ah need to keep movin'."In the interest of multi tasking, you just hold the bathroom open for Tin for a fraction of a second and then throw your clothes to a far corner, as too keep it all from getting wet.>"...I wouldn't know. "How so, Ah just got the mini-me toda-AY?!" You yell over the running water as you hop in the shower, almost slipping thanks to the momentum. "...Water's slippery, right.">"I've been iterating since you taught me, mistress' image was a new addition today." It specifies, letting its tail drop for an instant before it returns to its resting position. With a shower technique looking more like doing jumping jacks under running water, courting death and nearly chafing yourself with a soapy locally sourced bath sponge, you try to get out as soon as your finely tuned nose detects you smell less like ."If you are playin' with uh… a program? ...Then what's the figurine for?" You ask, making an effort to keep your hair dry.>"I just missed you, mistress." The robot says, sounding like always, a small kid through a subpar phone.Much like seeing it play with the doll, this leaves you speechless once more. You say nothing and just step off the shower calmly, as to not just fall on your teeth."Well, Ah'm goin' to get sumthin' to eat on town for a bit. How about Ah bring you with me?" You ask the tiny robot as you get to drying yourself. "Ah was thinkin' of bringin' you with me tonight anyway, but this way Ah can tell you all about it over a plate of somethin' warm and tasty..."The only other part of getting ready to head out that takes you don't breeze through is getting proper support on, but it's a must and something that you can't afford to botch. With a prepaid card of ¥2000 and ¥10000 in cash within your purse in your backpack, you weight your options once you put your boots on the street.Of course Edgeshot's tower is in the middle of Yokkaichi, in an area that remains well lit even as the sun starts to come down, with a slow flow of people calmly walking by as the work day starts ending.Normally, a well off, well lit area would be the best place to be when the sun threatens to hide, but not now.The clean streets, cleaner than the air at any rate, lack an important thing. There's no food carts in sight, only actual buildings for restaurants, all but one looking like barnacles, growing on the walls of the larger businesses."...Where to go, Tin?" You mumble, spinning on your heels to look around.>"Do you mean to ask me to look up the directions to an establishment?" It asks from your backpack."Nevermind…">What do you do?>[Go to the large white restaurant with the giant glass front, with the sign promising dinners of fish and beef. Packed napkin holders and a big menu on the table are all things that indicate a nice meal to you.You take a seat on one of the few empty tables and open the menu, barely making it past the pork chops and cabbage before a waitress approaches you.>"Welcome. Sitting between a wall and a stranger isn't something you'd do if you had a choice, and not having had that choice only makes it more uncomfortable. And that's just the position you are in, the fact that his fingers slide down instead of up your thigh even as you think doesn't really help the shivers this is sending down your spine. It might as well be a cube of ice running down your leg.I'm just here for a quick meal pal. I've already got plans tonight. You think and rethink, rehearsing the simple line in your head, taking deep breaths before trying it.You don't want to make a scene, but at the count of three you are going to grab that chilling hand and put it away from your body.3… 2… 1…---Okay, roll time! It's Face + Connive! That's 3 dice! Roll me 3d10!

It's not that you think you can botch it yourself, but it wouldn't be the first time someone doesn't get the meaning of no. But you don't want to miss out on your meal either. Thus, you just let go of your worry and grab his wrist, not allowing your nerves to make your hands shake."I'm just here for a quick meal pal...." You say, taking a small break to avoid choking on your words, but using the short silence to lift his hand off you and throwing his arm in his general direction. "I've already got plans tonight."The guy looks at you for a second, seemingly shocked, then chuckles, sliding about a foot away from you and raising his hands over his head, as if to be arrested.>"Well then, I can only hope I don't get called out with him. I mean, you could just say that because you aren't interested, but I'm not gonna risk getting myself gored." He says, then sighs. "Still! This is a nice place, and it'd be great for all if you were to bring friends next time you come down south."His prodding is somewhat irking, but far more tolerable at arms reach than touching you. While you can't tell if it's good or bad luck, the waitress soon returns with your order… And a sampler of six differently colored large glasses of beer.>"Your order, drinks and all. Enjoy!" She says, giving a small bow that barely bent her neck and quickly leaving you alone with the guy.>"Here, lemme show you something." He says a second later, picking a pale yellow one and a dark, almost black one and placing them next to each other, holding one on each hand.He then claps. In less than a second, your heart shoots back into your throat, but the expected sound of shattered glass and spilling booze never comes.Instead, he smuggly shows you a glass that's about 50% taller than any of the two he… did whatever that was on, its contents now a gradient of black to yellow, foaming at the top.>"Here, try it!" He says, nudging the beer closer to you and almost sending foam into your plate.>What do you do?>[Not impressed. "Congrats. Now the bar's down a glass. Ah'm on a bit of a hurry, so if ya let me chow, Ah'll let you have the booth."]>[Show off, grab the glass and make it normal sized. "Nice quirk, here's mine. Was on T.V. not long ago. Got places to go, can Ah eat in peace?"]>[Just no. "Pal, I'm 16. This won't look good on you."]>[Write in.]

After being almost murdered once, and almost pretend-murdered once, you are no longer one to ignore potential threats, especially those of the one and done category."Nice trick, pal. Ah ain't touchin' that with a 10-foot pole. Yah think Ah'd gotten here if Ah didn't know what roofies are?" You tell him, doing your best to stare him down and ignoring the drink itself. You want to believe the best of everyone, but your parents have always made sure drill the lesson into your head any and all times they could.YOU ARE NOT TO TOUCH ANY DRINK YOU HAVEN'T OPENED YOURSELF and ANY DRINK OUT OF SIGHT IS LOST are things you doubt you'll ever forget.>"Now wait a minute!" He says, slamming a hand on the table. By how little the beers shook, it was more loud than strong. "Being the hottest piece off ass passing through town doesn't mean I'd risk jail time for a hook-up!"You just keep staring at the guy with a furrowed brow, unfazed, not moving other than grabbing your fork and stabbing your steak. It's growing cold."Then take a hint, 'cause you are makin' one hell of a case against yaself. Ah'm 16, pal." You state matter-of-factly.>"You can just say no, no need to be a bitch about it." He says, grabbing his mixed beer and chugging half of it down, as if it were impressive."It's also unlawful to use your quirk in public." You tell him, pulling your lanyard out of your backpack, making sure he sees your backpack as well. "You should try avoiding showing that to a hero intern."The lanyard makes his face go through the whole emotional spectrum as he can read all the relevant info about yourself. It's hard to not feel a vindictive warmth starting to melt the clump of ice this whole situation made in your guts, seeing his face go from anger, pass through disbelief and settle in horror.>"U.A.'s cow..." He lets out, and you can tell how his perspective of you changes in real time. You just furrow your eyebrows a bit more and glare again, nothing you hadn't tried already, but your words aren't those of the hottest piece of ass passing through town playing hard to get, but those of Walker Ushi, the 16 years old stranger from overseas that climbed her way up the podium over the favorite and the sons and daughters of some of Japan's most prestigious' hero dynasties."C'mon, skedaddle." You repeat without any special inflection, just your natural accent.>"I'm sorry! I didn't recognize you!" He says, bowing as he backs away. "Enjoy your dinner!"You just blow steam off your nose and continue to stare him down."Ya ain't gonna have me pay for this, ain'tcha?" You half ask, half demand, pointing at the 4 untouched beers and the half glass of the mixed beer.>"R-right! My treat!" He says, pulling out his wallet. You can see a flat square container in there before he pulls a handful of bills and slams it on the table. "Never told you my name, did I?"
"Nope." You say, shaking your head a bit but not losing sight of your glass of juice nor him.>"Thank heavens!" He almost yells, then bows again and turns towards the entrance, hurriedly walking away with his head low.Once he leaves, only then you let your composure fail you, almost letting yourself fall over the table, taking fast shallow breaths. You didn't really expect that to stop happening just because you weren't in America anymore, but you kind of… hoped. At least your… lukewarm steak is kind of free? He left ¥10000, enough for both the beers and your whole meal…Despite not asking for it, it's hard to banish the thought that you just got paid for being touched. The thought swirls within your skull even after you leave, leaving only when you push it out with more pressing matters. You are not patrolling tonight. You are going in a mission! So it's with great enthusiasm that you run back down to the rendezvous point, after almost tearing off your clothes and getting cozy in your suit, getting Tin and your phone in your belt....And the horned mask you won from All Might. Night vision and filters must be helpful, right?>"It's not a raid. I wouldn't bring you if it was." Edgeshot explains as you make your way over the rooftops, the two ninjas and you. "I'll go into the mine along a small police unit, under the cover of dark. We hope to find where are the goods going, as well as how they are moving them in and out of the mine without being seen.">"It's minor, but still a landmark. Someone should have seen something." Johai agrees."Not that Ah want it to, but Ah reckon the thing should have gone off too. Unless they started recently?" You add to the discussion, unsure about what will happen in there. It may only have been barely over a day, but you are sure you are getting better at rooftop-running. You even start using sheet muscle power for the smaller jumps, that being those smaller than your own height, no quirk required.>"You two are to guard the entrance, in case the pocket of gas bursts." Edgeshot continues, producing two small grey blocks, throwing one directly at your hand and one at Johai, both of you catching them with ease, as the boxes seem to move oddly slow compared to everything else. "Those are samples of Carbon-Aerogel, a cubic meter of that weighs a single kilogram and it absorbs 90% of any impact. And the supply team acquired it and delivered it within a day, never underestimate the importance of the rest of your office, not only sidekicks.">"Then we just need to worry about possible sonic booms." Johai summarises, pocketing the block. You hold it on your palm and try slapping yourself instead. You just feel a soft touch on your cheek and the air pressure of your hand."The math checks out!" You conclude after your brief experiment, to the dismay of the red ninja.
Then the damn thing almost floats away, but you snatch it off the air before it leaves you, shoving it into one of your pouches.Perhaps it's too light a material. The entrance to the mine is almost as you remember it. Old, rusty and foreboding, a large rocky hill with a framed, gaping underbiting maw into darkness, dampness and death, a hole that your nose can't pick anything from...The four police officers are new though! As is the fact that their masks look less like the one hidden in your belt, but more like they plan on engaging on trench warfare. Full face mask, tubes and air-pack only leaves the uniform to distinguish them as officers.Next to the squad are some open metallic cases, looking similar to your school provided suitcase.>"Are these the kids?" One of the officers asks as you all approach, the mask muffling his voice. "Better than nothing, I suppose. Let's kit them out and get moving, I'm sure you can take care of them yourself, but I'm hoping we can be back here within the hour.">"Johai and Walker, yes."Your mentor answers for you, then addresses you. "Pay attention, this is what you are supposed to do."The officer grabs a couple white pucks from one of the cases, revealing a screen on their side.>"CO2 sensors, so you know when and if to do your thing, whatever your side of the plan is." He says, handing one of them to you and the other to your fellow intern. The small screen sits at 270, jumping up to 280 and 300 when you exhale at it, depending on how you do it.>"What are we looking for?" Johai asks, beating you to the question.>"Anything over 2000 is trouble, but nothing a few minutes with oxygen won't fix." The officer tells you, then points at the mine. "That in there's about 50000. You take a couple deep breaths and fall over, that's it. So if it ever gets over 5000, that's a catastrophe in the making, and your cue.">"Even if it doesn't spike over that threshold, I need you to contact me if anything happens." Edgeshot adds. You fit the sensor to your belt, keeping the screen a glance away.>"Stay in this area, stay alert-" The hero finishes. "Stay safe.">What do you do?>[He can trust in you!
