While not the most technologically advanced item you could produced, nor the sexiest, it is arguably the most efficient and useful for your fledgling world....

With train tracks relatively cheap and easy to build and lay, teams are sent to link the major towns and great cities of the world together, allowing for greater trade and interconnectivity.....

>>3809227
>>3809275
Baneblades are rare and hard to come by, we may be able to get a few via war trophies and the occasional Rogue Trader shipment, but never enough to field much of a force....

The Macharius tank provides a cheaper and more common heavy tank alternative we could use though.....
>>
>>3809396
While going over the latest production reports in your newly renovated office inside Black Mountain, you are informed over the vox, that a delegation of Clan warriors led by Blacktooth have arrived requesting an audience with you....

You decide to take the meeting, making it a quick one, where Blacktooth lays out his plan for a more ambitious raiding season, getting several more Dhows to raid Qorl, with a host several times larger, ensuring large amounts of loot and glory for the men....

He also mentions a great city in space, Antioch Station, several years travel by Dhow from here(likely several weeks in the warp) to the galactic east. There are old stories of Clan warriors travelling their to sell their services as mercenaries, and coming back with exotic goods and technologies....

While you may need to contact the Voleans for a few more Dhows for the raid, you would likely need a faster ship to get to Antioch....

A. Attempt to contact the Voleans to trade again, inquire about a few more Dhows and perhaps a faster ship

You grant the raiders permission again this season, same terms as before, with you having rights to 10% of all loot...

It takes a few weeks for the warband to prepare and set off, and you settle in to a rythym of looking over production reports and checking in on the status of the spring harvest, when you are contacted to come to the Command center, you quickly walk down the hallway and take the elevator 2 floors down into the command center....

You have received a long-range narrow beam vox communication from the end of the system....

"Greetings Lord Governor! I heard that you were recently awarded this planet. My name is Matheuz Blackwood, the greatest Rogue Trader in the Segmentum! It is your good fortune that I am here today to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime! If you would please sit down for dinner with me and hear me out, I have a business opportunity for you...."

It takes just a few hours for the rogue trader to arrive, his Arvus lighter gently hovering into the reinforced hangar bay on the side of the mountain, dressed in one of your finest uniforms and accompanied by a dozen of your elite guards.

The rogue traders ship is clearly heavily upgraded with armor plating and heavier weapons than usually seen on such a craft, it also bristles with antenna and other upgrades...

Blackwood steps out accompanied by what looks to be his pilot as well as a hulking man, who you notice after a moment is clearly an ogryn, armored and armed with some kind of gun.

“Lord Governor!” “Glad to make your acquaintance” as he shakes your hand.

“This is my pilot Jonas, and Bug, my bodyguard” the pilot gives an awkward smile while the ogryn glares at you.

“Let’s talk business shall we?” “I can have my stateroom prepared on the Awaited Bounty within the hour, or perhaps you would prefer to have our meeting here?”

It should help with be sure that the planet is converted. Also better moral for our troops.
even if agriculture/mining could have something nice, like work vehicles and good equipment. But we can build it ourselfs or no ?

////
In regard to the rogue trader, are we sure of not having him on land ? We could help make is base/outpost in some mountains making it in part like our secret site for psykers. It would be more secretive that way.

Perhaps we could offer even a minor noble title.
And a rule that very dangerous material, costs more to keep on the planet and needs to stay less time on it.

Having him as an ally/friend would be useful.
Or do we wait and see if is trustworthy (maybe see is reputation in the sub sector or from other imperial planets ?) ?
///

About other imperial planets, maybe we should see who is near. And ask them if we can start trade/relations.

An imperial navy base for example, could have even some old spaceships unused.

the specialist hires are 10k each

The manufacturing equipment is 20k

Infantry equipment is 20k for a basic package, which includes flak armor, lasguns, and some heavy weapons including, heavy bolters, lascannons, autocannons and missile launchers

The deluxe package for 50k, includes everything in the basic, with the addition of a regiment worth of carapace armor, as well as a handful of rare weapons, such as plasma guns, melta guns and power weapons

I apologize for not listing pricing before as wella s cash on hand

Things slow down after Blackwood leaves, with the focus being on the harvest as the onset of winter is just a few months away.

You are surprised to be notified that the Dhow's carrying Blacktooth and his men have arrived back in the system, several months earlier than planned, with an unexpected prize in tow...

It seems that Blacktooth and his men arrived to find a Tau cruiser, over the surface of Qorl, likely landing diplomats and ground forces to begin the process of taking control of the planet....

Blacktooth and his men were able to approach the Tau ship, posing as Volean merchants, and requested to board for trade negotiation purposes.

Not sensing anything amiss the Tau obliged, allowing Blacktooth and a small party of warriors to secure the Tau side of the boarding lock and rush hundreds of warriors on to the Tau vessel. The Tau crew were caught by surprise and totally unmatched in the ferocious hand-to-hand combat and close combat that followed...

A handful of their crew were spared to pilot the ship home to Veramar, Blacktooth wants to keep the ship for raiding, especially as it will cause confusion, to see a Tau ship launching human raiders.

However holding such a ship is illegal in the eyes of the Imperium and could get us in trouble as well, although the benefits of having such a craft would be great...

C. Other(Write-in)

Study is design and different parts in secret for some time (Few months, secret site), maybe we could be able to replicate it in an imperial way albeit very simplified or just know more about Tau ships and how to deal with them.

Interrogate the remaining Tau Crew about anything (avoid to kill them or maim them too much). Look on the ship for any informations it may have.

Blacktooth will receive something for renouncing this. Perhaps a feast or a parade.
//

After that give both the ship and the remaining crew to the nearest Forgeworld or Mechanicum Station.

Of course a part for the simple start of our relations and trade that we expect upon contacting eachothers, we will ask for some things.
>>
>>3823706
I should add the ships holds contain a tau dropship, a handful of their tanks/apcs and several hundred rifles and armor sets for infantry. It also has some food supplies and drones
>>
>>3823789
That s quite a lucky shot. There is nothing of this stuff that is damaged.
We will study those too.
I m thinking if we should risk it and study all this stuff for some years in a secret site, and then when we don t need it anymore give it to the Ad Mech.

It could be very helpful, but it s a long time plan. And when you grasp how this tech works, you need to traduce it as an imperial or local tech, alongside having friends in the Mechanicum and a very strong power as Planetary Governor.

You decide to study the ship and the acquired weapons in secret, buying off Blacktooth with the promise of support in the future, along with a hefty amount of money for him and his warriors....

You take the Tau prisoners to a blacksite for additional interrogation, while in the meantime you find all of the former Disciple's designers, and engineers and recruit the best of them to form your special research team, drawing up schematics of the captured ship, vehicles and weapons, all being done out of secret Blacksite, and with shuttle rides to the Tau Cruiser, always kept on the Dark side of the planet...

On Veramar itself, there is a great deal of excitement as the Karganalia approaches, the annual celebration of the great Warlord Kargan uniting the world 800 years ago, leading to an age of peace of prosperity, not known until your arrival.....

As he was the only figure to unite the world before, Karganalia is effectively the only planet-wide holiday, you were too busy in previous years to pay much attention to it, but this year is special as it represents the 800th year since the unification....

It is celebrated in different parts of the planet, with the Great Cities focusing on parades, drinking and lavish feasts, while the clans hold great hunts, and competitions ranging from games of skill, to drinking and feats of strength, given that it is a week long celebration, you should have enough time to spend a few days in each major region of the planet....

Furthermore in the recently reintegrated former Disciple territories, the celebration was banned for infringing on the worship of the Great Flame. While worshipping a figure that is not the Emperor is problematic, the Missionaries have informed you that they teach the borderline worship of Lord Kargan as an aspect of the God-Emperor, as a powerful warrior-king uniting humanity and smiting its foes...
>>
>>3824835

It could help unify the planet, but it will require you to spend money to subsidize the celebrations, as the locals wont neccesarily put up the money themselves...

You approach the podium with some apprehension, as your major public speaking engagements have been few and far between in your previous career as a military officer, generally addressing your staff and direct subordinates in small groups, rather than addressing thousands of men at the same time.

You make do though, relying partially on your reputation as a man of few words.

"Greetings loyal citizens!"

"We gather this week to honor the God-Emperor and great Warlord Kargan, for bringing together mankind and joining our people under the single unifying light of the Emperor of mankind"

"It is through the efforts and loyalty of our citizens that have made such successes possible, in particular the troops of our army, and the industrious workers of our factories all over Veramar, who work in the smoke and heat everyday to build machines to equip or workers and soldiers that create the wealth that feeds, clothes and shelters our citizens.

You say a few quick words of remembrance, and salute and bow, before stepping off the stage and taking your honored place in the highest veranda, as the military bands start playing and the parade starts through the main thouroughfare of Mercium city.
>>
>>3835602
Several squadrons fly over in close formation, as the ground vehicles rumble into life, followed by your infantry in their best uniforms marching in lock step.

In addition to your troops, the Mercium City Watch honor guard and and a large band of Clan warriors also join the parade, marching after your main body of infantry.

You have the first opportunity in a long while to mix with the Syndic Council, that still formally rule the city in your name. Several of them approach you with complaints and suggestions about the affairs of the city and your world government, which barely exists as such.

The merchants complain about the taxes in the city, which have been formally imposed on them after you took the city, to fund your new world government.

The reformed militarists wish to expand and improve the equipment of the city watch, and want to equip their troops with modern Imperial military equipment. as well as permission and funding to raise 2 new regiments worth of watchmen.

Finally the Nobility wish that you guarantee they have an ownership percentage of any new state-sponsored businesses in the city, as they wish to preserve their wealth and priveledges above all else.

While a reverse engineering it s difficult and it requires a long time, we can for the moment learn more about the Tau military equipment and how to fight them. Which is not bad.
Besides the Mechanicum could help us a lot, if we give the whole package of tau stuff (all without battle damage) to them.

More industry, better defenses, maybe some groups of tech priests in our service, helping us building a space station or our fleet.

They can do a lot.
///

We should probably help the missionary and make him more of an ally. Like building around the planet some simple temples to the Emperor, and give them to is mission.
It should spread the faith around.

We could look on studying the primitive weapons and power armors of the north clans.
>>
>>3836557
More shrines is great, especially since the cost isnt actually that great. As to Tau shit, we get Goodwill™ but selling gets us actual cash with which to buy a ship. While potentially riskier, we really need an Imperial-compliant voidship. Currently we only have the alien vessel that we need to hide any time someone comes checking. If we have an actual Cobra class we get the best of both worlds, not to mention we are Warp-capable.
>>
>>3836646
True, but if they accept to give us the help we require it would be useful.

In regard to buying vessels, the main problem is if we are able to create a space station with some docks for them ... or if we will need to wait for make one and leave them on ground or simply in orbit, which is not ideal.

But overall, it would be better. And raids would be far more productive and fast.

///

What else .

Forts, bunkers and tunnels would be neat to have. And fortify settlements would be important too.

More defenses too, turrets and such. Maybe something for orbital defense too.

We could start making the PDF, but there is the problem of 4 different types of it (us and from the 3 great cities) . But it can be a strong point instead of a problem. I would prefer to do the PDF when we can give them all the equipment and vehicles they need.

Maybe we can make our secret services, just for be sure that there are no more problems.

There are still vast amount of uncolonized land in the planet, and ruins of settlements from precedent wars. Helping the growth of our population and then colonizing this regions, would be a good solution (maybe we can also stimulate imperial settlers to arrive here, for example we can do a campaign advertisement on a hive world for welcoming settlers to come).

We should also build our capital city, leaving our mark on the planet.
>>
>>3836783
Fair enough. Depending on the infrastructure, a spaceport may be a better investment over a single ship. Even better if we can offer minor repair and refueling/resupply functions from it. Should invite more traffic and more cash.

As to fortifications, we really should get good infrastructure going before we bunker down. Standard IG-capable at the least. Seeing as we invested in mining before, further investments in heavy industry should allow us to reach that goal. Farming is shit-tier past self reliance anyway - shipping is expensive and the spaceport wont acomodate massive fleets.

More heavy industry/spaceport into IG equipment into training regiments. Then we see about an actual navy.

You decide to agree to the militarists requests, granting them a few squadrons of vehicles, as well as lasguns to practice with, in addition, you are willing to provide them with some military funding to raise two more regiments worth of troops.

As for the merchants you decide to let them stew for the time being, and with the nobles, you counteroffer with allowing them the right of first refusal for investing in any state-sponsored businesses in the city, but they will need to contribute investments equal to their ownership share, you also encourage them to start their own businesses, as the state is primarily interested in industries that directly correlate to military readiness and economic growth.

On the topic of your military, there are several issues that need to be addressed, the most pressing being the impending retirement of many of your veteran troops, while there is a substantial minority who wish to continue their service, many of the men who fought in your previous campaigns are getting into their their 30s and 40s and are beginning to "age out" from being common soldiers...

How should we deal with their retirements?

You opt to grant lands to the veteran troops of your armies, which results in dozens of small towns being established on favorable ground, with Nova Terrans, preferring either trade routes or access to natural resources a critical factor.

Your Nova Terrans, also start to establish a uniquely Nova Terran type of town, industrial communes where simple workshops are set up at first, and everyone in the community focuses on production, with the young, old and sick are taken care of as the resources are distributed to take care of its members...

This will result in a long-term increase to industrial production.

Theres another question regarding the army, with the vast majority of new recruits being from the native cultures of Veramar, you need to make some decisions about the how your armed forces will be structured, while Mercium has its own small force, your main armed forces are currently trained to Imperial Guard standard.

However the clans still fight as an independent force, based around raiding forces. They are excellent shock infantry, excelling at close combat in urban combat and broken terrain, they specialize in melee combat and close combat weapons, should the clans be allowed to retain their independence in terms of fighting style and their organization in your forces

You decide to allow the clans their independence, but integrating them into your larger command structure, have them form into rough company and regimental organization and having them ultimately answer to generals in your army.

You also have the clan troops undergo basic training in marching, terminology and weapons training with basic Imperial equipment, although they are best equipped with close combat weapons, and to that end, much of your chain-weapons have been allocated to the clans.

In general you have some excess manpower and construction capacity and have the opportunity to build/expand something, what should we work on?

Anti orbital weapons unfortunately are quite expensive. By improving fortifications I meant to either build new ones or expand on existing ones using labor, materials and equipment we already have paid for. The former disciples territories were already well fortified, so most of the work there consists of repairs to be done, while the rest of the planet will see the construction of outposts along major roadways and near strategic areas. We have some existing anti aircraft capability from what we brought with us, as well as stockpiles of disciple anti aircraft missiles, which we can use as a cheap short range defense weapon
>>
>>3841269
This may be possible in the future, although the navy and imperial forces in general are spread thin in the region
>>
>>3841886
In that case, do fortifications with a focus on heavy AA flak weaponry and SAMs to shoot down invaders when they are at their most vulnerable i.e. in the air, with them optimally being concealed so enemies don't know about them until they find themselves falling out of the sky with a faceful of shrapnel.

If we don't have enough equipment to do that, then we could easily retool a few factories to produce the parts we need, and if a planetwide ASB network is too costly, I still think we could hide a handful of MACs or surface-to-orbit missiles in Black Mountain later once we have the means to get them to give a nasty surprise to any small ships that get cocky.
>>
>>3841924
It will be possible to install a defense system like that in the future but it will be expensive enough that it will be at least several years out
>>
>>3841977
By "that" I presume you mean the AO weaponry, and the fortification plan is doable?

Yes anti orbital weapons are possible, but given the level of industry and knowledge to produce such weapons you will have to buy them from a forge world or rogue trader most likely

we can deal with it if is small-medium stuff. For the moment we aren t too relevant and is a vast region of wild space, so we could expect small warbands (xenos, pirates, chaos cults ecc ...) arriving for do small raids and then go away, but they need to find our system first. The Tau did have an interest here, but our world was probably distant so i don t expect them to show up again soon (especially if for them is far more easy to get other near systems to their current frontier without facing an imperial planet.) . And if they show up they would arrive with diplomats and traders.

an invasion force (for taking a whole planet) would destroy us regardless of industry advancements, we would become a pile of ash. so i doubt we would have to deal with anything like that for now.

fortifications and defenses are pretty useful even for being a deterrent, plus they would help in rolls. We don t need to always do them, but even a single turn for them would be good for now. We have just started here, and small threats are possible so having them is not that bad.

The problem is that unless we fortify everything or have some way to force enemies to attack a fortress (like orbital cannons) any attacker can just ignore our fortified stuff and harass our unfortified regions. Having a good enough transportation network means we can deploy troops to counter this before they finish and fuck off. Plus, it also works wonders for the planetary economy.

Keep in mind we need a far higher industrial level before we can start pumping out regiments and fortifications that matter.

I don't think there would be any =][= all the way out here so the only way they'd find out is it somebody goes out of their way to rat on us, which is rather difficult to do since we have the only astropath/s in the world. Still, we should do something with it asap.

don t worry we will do that after Shmeh will put a post about the research we have done on the tau stuff taken, same for the info gained on the tau interrogated.

and about Princess Imara Berenz, for converting her and teach it low gothic.
after that with our astropaths we can call back Blackwood and sell him all the tau stuff we have.
