“A Knight is Sworn to Valour. His Heart Knows Only Virtue. His Blade Defends the Helpless. His Might Upholds the Weak. His Word Speaks Only Truth. His Wrath Undoes the Wicked.”

Every child in Cantôn knows of the Knight’s Code. From peasant-born waifs playing with sticks in the mud to keen-eyed noble sons practicing with cold steel in the training yard, all have at the very least dreamed of one day becoming a knight themselves. To ride out on errantry into the Five Duchies Kingdom and beyond for God and Glory, bringing the Law of Adam to the wicked and the Blade of Cain to the beast.

The Knights of Cantôn are sworn to follow the Code, to obey the King, to refuse no call for aid honestly asked for, to seek out and destroy the Foe wherever it may lurk and rid the world of evil.

Were it so easy…

> Intel from Langlish-held Ruins +30DC

> 71 DC

Crit-fail = Men are far from the most dangerous things to run afoul of out here.
Double Fail = Certain words are exchanged. And arrows. (Depending on success it could be Reginae/Langlish or Bluejays)
0 = You manage to get turned around in the dark and lose your bearings.
1 = You make no headway, and nightfall rapidly approaches. This will have to wait until morning.
2 = You find tracks, definitely the rebels. Tomorrow the hunt continues. Bonus to attempt.
3 = You find the Bluejay rebels. Or perhaps they find you.
Double Pass = Polite introduction.
Crit-pass = I am my brother’s keeper.

3 rolls of 1d100, trackers. You have 1 Re-Roll and 1 Adverse Re-Roll.

The hunt draws to a close…

Tracking Roll
>3 Success

As you press deeper in the south of Mal Country you notice that your Fae shadow has either stopped following you into this territory or it’s become harder to spot with the failing light. Even with the information narrowing down your search, there is still a lot of ground to cover.

If you hadn’t virtually stepped in the signs you’d have likely missed them entirely. Ash and charcoal, hastily covered in leaves. A campfire perhaps, less than a day old. Not much farther you find a notch carved into a tree, to hang something from you suppose. A trap or, a somewhat more mundane explanation, a laundry line. An apple core a dozen metres to the left and you have found the sum total of what you suspect to be the signs of a Bluejay camp. The covered tracks leave you clueless as to exactly how many, but the sheer number of disturbed earth leads you to believe it’s a few dozen. Two-score at the most.

These Bluejays are cunning foresters, to leave so little a trace of their passing. Little wonder, given they must contend with worse than just the Order of Names in their daily lives out here. Free from the lawful authority and security of the Crown, bereft of the protection of the Law of Adam and the spiritual guidance of the church. From the one Bluejay you’ve met, they seem to prefer it that way. Eventually you find something approaching a trail. To be more specific, you ignore the obvious fake-trails meant to misdirect people like yourself and pursue the ground too hard or shifting to leave a trace. A rocky path that would leave no footsteps, a change in direction along a stream with only a half-imprint indicating where they left.

As the sky darkens, you begin to despair that you’re on the right path. Your overthinking tracking, amateurish enough, has led you in a giant circle right back… to... you.

”Eek. Eek.” Courageous Sky’s chirp sets the hair of your neck on edge. They’re close.

Your hand drops to your blade and your companions eye each other and the surrounding woods warily. There is nothing untoward to your eyes, just the sunset flickering through the trees and the chirp of insects. There is not even the deadening silence you’ve grown to keep an ear out for, a sure sign of a predator nearby. But your fledgling woodsman senses are itching. You’ve been out here together for little over a week now and your companions have learnt to trust your instincts when it comes to these sorts of things. You signal for them to back away, hopefully you have time to slip through the closing noose that you can sense but not quite see.

”Ah ah ah.” Too late. It takes you a few seconds to register that the bush at the foot of a tree to your left is actually a man, bow drawn and aimed straight for your neck.

”You’re a long way from your castle, little lordling.” The talking bush stands, and your trust in chest-high shrubbery hits an extraordinary new low as several others move in closer. One pops up out of the leaves just a few metres away, spear levelled with the confidence of a man that knows how to use it. ”How’d you know we was here then?”

One of the other walking bushes jerks a chin at your Griffinhawk perched in the tree above. Two more draw their bows and take aim at your feathered friend, not discounting him as a threat. You gesture for an increasingly alarmed Sir dan Marc and Mikail to keep their hands away from their weapons. Your armour is sturdy but trusting it to hold fast against three or four arrows shot by reputedly some of the finest archers in the land is a bit optimistic.

”Well, well. Don’t see too many of those pretties choosing a stuck-up noble for a pal.” The rebel, for he surely is, whistles in mocking awe at Courageous Sky. You get the impression he’d shrug, if the bow was not drawn so tightly. “No accounting for taste, I ‘spose.”

”Now. It isn’t every day we have an oppressor of the people come looking to pay his respects. What are we to do with you lot? Any suggestions, comrades?” There is a steady flow of rather galling suggestions from the surrounding bandits.

”String ‘em up by their manbits.”

”Chuck ‘em in a ‘Rachnid Nest.”

”What do Griffinhawks taste like?”

”That girlie of his is cute. Let’s keep her.”

”That’s his squire, Dennick. They don’t have girl squires.”

”Meh. Near enough is good enough.”

”All very good suggestions, comrades.” The talking-leader-bush laughs, finding your numerous possible demises endlessly entertaining. ”But we can settle for stripping them down to their bare arses and giving them a good kicking. Maybe that will teach these bluebloods some humility. Or a hanging if it don't. That all depends on how you answer our questions.”

The man’s tone takes a sharper, icier tone. ”Who are you? And why are you following us?”

Little point keeping your identity secret, you suppose. You begin… ”I am Sir Emile Andrei.”

I've not come here to cause you trouble, or act as an agent to the crown. We'd be fools to stumble around in these parts looking to harm the infamous Bluejay band, we're no rangers after all. I come seeking my brother, to ensure he is safe, or at least to take his corpse and bury it with dignity. Please, take me to him and to make this an even trade I can provide information about the forces massing in these woods, information you might be able to use"

We need to be polite here, if we upset these guys they have no reason not to cut us down where we stand. These are the people our brother trusts, lets offer a little and buy a bit of trust ourselves. At the very least it'll get us taken to their camp and we may even leave unmolested. Time to take a chance, time to have some faith.

You can’t really ‘vote down’ a write-in until I’ve put it up as a choice, but it’s pretty clear it didn’t get enough support compared to this Idealist option this time.

You figure men of this ilk prefer you keep your talking short and sweet. ”Are you Sam Wyte? I saw Tom Freeman two days hence. My condolences.”

”Tom is dead then?” Another one of the archer’s speaks up, female from the sound of it. ”What did you Crown bastards do to him?”

”I had no part in what the Reginate or Order of Names did to him. I am not with them, nor those mercenaries at the ruins. All I could offer was a final mercy when we found him.” You’re careful to distinguish yourself from his tormentors. You hold no illusions what affiliation with them might mean for you right now. ”He wanted you to know he told the Orders nothing.”

”Fuck me. Comrade Tom is dead then.” The leader, Sam Wyte you presume, mutters despondently. ”Didn’t think anything could do for the old man, damn it.”

”We don’t know for sure! It’s a trick.” Snaps the woman beside him. From the grim expressions and downcast demeanour Tom Freeman had been popular among the rebels. ”All we have to go on is this lordling’s word, and we well know what that’s worth.”

”For Pit’s sake, Comrade Widow, why would he tell us as much if it weren’t true? No, trickery would be to let us think Tom’s still alive to be rescued.” Sam Wyte lowers his bow and the rest follow suit. Though the female hesitates for a few seconds, apparently you’re her least favourite person right now. ”Is this the same dandy you mentioned, JayJay?”

”Reginae-wept… fuck me, you’re right.” A nearby man you now recognise as Jack Jehova lowers his spear and shakes his head in amazement. "Yeah, it's the same big bastard alright. Didn't hardly recognise him underneath all that gear."

”Andrei, eh? A LONG way from home then.” Sam Wyte scratches his cheek, thinking. ”I suppose your brother will be wanting to see you. We’ll take you, but you will surrender your weapons. We’ll also have you hooded and bound. Or, we fill you full of arrows and shed no tears over it. That’s the short and narrow of it.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

>”I think not.” You’d be utterly at their mercy. Your hand drops to your blade. You only need one of these rebels alive to tell you where your brother is. [Haughty]

>”Our weapons, yes. Blind too, if needs be. But I’ll not be bound like a lamb led to the slaughter.” There is only so much indignity you can stand. [Hearty]

While this would be a smart desicion if we could make it happen, unfortunlately they have us dead to rights and we have no barganing position.

Would they really let us go freely on our own and give us the chance to follow then to their camp or (in their eyes) bring some additional friends of our own?
>>
>>3851008

I’m fine with them designating most of their number to trailing us to ensure that we don’t go grab some queensmen while a couple go back to their camp.

I'll support this. I think that's actually powerful argument in that we'll never see their encampment. They could leave someone to ensure we don't follow them and instead go to the rendezvous point.

Not a lot of difference between this and hearty. Not being bound won't make a difference if we're blind and without weapons. We should apologize to Jack Jehova btw.

Like I said before, we should make it very clear that we don't give a shit what they're about and we're not looking to get in their way. We won't have a shred of useful information about them if they don't take us to their camp, so they will have nothing to be suspicious of.

>>
>>3852360
We're also not retarded last I checked. Being a pious, valourous knight does not mean we left our brain at home with the family before setting out. I'm all for picking a fight with no good bandits but picking a fight with a bunch of people who have us surrounded, with probably more hidden not too far away, and whose reputation proceeds them is pretty retarded. Hurr durr I'm a Knight
>>
>>3852360
>Getting yourself killed in the middle of nowhere, protecting nothing is part of our job description.
You're taking a kind of "America spreading freedom" approach on being a knight. Do you see any other knights out here spreading the Law of Adam? The only other knights out here are getting ready to pummel each other over some ruins. So let's calm down the high and mighty nonsense.

Despite everything, speed is of the essence since the queensman's timetable has been moved up and the langlish now know we're here.

I wouldnt be surprised if the order of names and a langlish search party blunder into each other's path while trying to hunt us.

Goddamit guys we just did this last thread
>>
Idk about [Write-In] option.
For one we don't have much time assault on ruins might be happening as we speak.
Secondly who would agree to that? I wouldn't, seems suspicious as fuck.
Us escaping from pursuers doesn't mean they can not track us down. So with that option we might actually lead them into trap.

>>”After what I have seen in these woods I can understand your caution but I cannot agree to such terms. Instead, why don’t you go grab my brother and we’ll meet up at another location in a day or so? This way you forgo the risk of me seeing anything of your encampment.” [Write-In]
>>
>>3852549

I would agree the [Write-In] makes no sense to me. Why would the Bluejays ever agree to this ever agree to this? We are completely at their mercy right now with no bargaining chips and they are going put a bag over our head anyway the odds of us seeing anything of their camp are minuscule. Besides isn't the whole point of this to see our brother who they say their bringing us to right this minute why the fuck should we wait any longer than we have to. We came all this way, let's just go see him and see what the hell is going on.
>>
>>3851727
Actually I'll switch to >”I have your word my companions and shall come to no harm?” You put little stake in the promises of rebels against the Crown, but you don’t have a lot of options here. [Idealist]
Because I agree that to the Bluejays it might not seem like we're in any position to negotiate anything.

The only reason that fails are not auto-resulting in combat is because they want you alive. Why did you think this was a good idea? Write-ins can often make things better, but they can also make them worse if you don’t read the situation properly. That said, kudos for being in character I guess. “After what I have seen in these woods I can understand your caution but I cannot agree to such terms.” The prospect of being taken hostage by outlaw rebels without so much as a fight galls it, and it would only be the latest in a long line of indignities you’ve had to endure out here. Weeks without a decent bed or roof over your head, walking like a mere footman, skirting or outright fleeing from monsters and men alike. Not to mention sneaking about like a common thief. Your patience is wearing thin, and you never had that virtue in much abundance to begin with. Your pride as a man and a noble knight cannot bear one more instance of disgrace. “Instead, why don’t you go grab my brother and we’ll meet up at another location in a day or so? This way you forgo the risk of me seeing anything of your encampment.”

”Why is it that everywhere I go, there is always some noble twat trying to tell me what to do?” The rebel leader sighs, though he lowers he bow as he considers your point. Men like these would know better than most the dangers of the woods, and there is some advantage to be had in not leading you to their base. Even if you didn’t purposefully betray their position, the Orders have demonstrated the lengths they’re willing to go to for any leads in crushing these rebels. ”Fine. See you here in the morning. I’ll leave some men to make sure you don’t get lost, seeing as I trust you royal nobs about as far as I can spit.”

You ignore the man’s jibe and think about what he said. That tells you something in itself. Their camp is close enough to reach by nightfall and return, even closer if he means to delay or give the impression they are farther off.

”Typical bourgeoisie privilege.” The woman with the eyepatch sneers. You wonder if her missing eye affects her aim. ”Comrade, we can still just shoot him.”

”…” Sam Wyte appears to seriously consider your murder for a moment. ”Nah. White Cub would take it ill if I sent his baby brother back to the mud. Right. Jayjay, Widow and Lockheed keep your lot here and watch them. If they cause trouble, shoot ‘em.”

”Right. If they cause trouble.”

”Not liking him isn’t ‘trouble’, Comrade Widow.”

”Damn.” The bloodthirsty revolutionary scowls with genuine disappointment. ”Fine. We’ll make sure the little bluebloods don’t get lost.”

[1/2]
>>
>>3852774
>>3852772
It's an impressive roll but all you can is avoiding the indignity of being the Bluejay Rebel's prisoner. How much you figure that's worth to our haughty knight is up to you.
>>
[2/2]

The suggestion of a campfire is quickly shot down by the rebels, these men are used to rough living and cold nights in the dark as the price of security against their pursuers. Clearly the prefer the threats of night-time predators to being hunted down by the Order of Names. Nightfall gives you advantage so far as ranged weaponry is concerned, but you stay your blade for now. You ruefully admit to Jack Jehova that his services would probably have been better money’s worth than your treacherous guide, even discounting the fact that he knew exactly who you’d be looking for.

”I always did figure him for a slimy one. Too piss-poor a shot to be making a decent living off of hunting.” Apparently ‘JayJay’ knew Craig of Lowgrove by reputation. “Your party wouldn’t be the first expedition he’s led that didn’t return, though the other time had plausible enough reason given the deadly nature of this land. Guess that’s the thing about being the sole survivor, ain’t no one alive to tell folk different from your version.”

Other than that conversation is understandably muted between your party and the rebels, though Comrade Lockheed still eyes your squire as a potential conquest. You resolve to kill him first should things go south. The standoff makes for an uncomfortable camp, you sleep in turns with your companions each taking watch. You doubt these rebels would wrangle their consciences overmuch if they decided to slit your throats and strip your corpses naked.

The sun has barely risen when Sam Wyte and the rest of the rebels return, and in substantially greater numbers than what he left with. Behind him a tall man in battered plate-armour ducks under a brunch and curses. The rising sun casts him as a little more than a silhouette but…

“Is leading me out here at this late hour another one of your jokes, Sam?” That voice… ”I swear by Ursen’s left nut that if this is another… Cain on the Cross… Emmy?!?”

It's important to note that they call him White Cub. That's the name Lord Alderauge used. It wasn't a metaphor but literal. I think delivering the message now would be bad. Damien could very well be infiltrating the bluejay band to use them. He did say he saw a White Cub in a coat of black and gold. I think he was signifying that Damien was still loyal to the crown.

Yep, can’t think of a single reason why I wouldn’t trust getting bound and blinded by these guys.

Not one bloody reason.

You've been nothing but a belligerent asshole, and you were just proven a hypocrite.

I don't know what the hell you people are smoking, but being disarmed and at the mercy of people who clearly despise us is never a good idea. This had absolutely nothing to do with indignity. Do any of you know what a parley is?

>>

>>
>>3853230
No, insulting everyone makes you a belligerent asshole. Some examples:
>Nigga idgaf what you type. Ain't nothing gonna convince me that dogshit write-in was anything but dogshit and dumb. Save your breath, and be grateful the lucky rolls saved us from that godawful write-in. Go practice mental gymnastics on someone else.
>Great. The terrible time wasting write-in barely made it through.
>LMAO bitch get the fuck out of here.
Absolute lol at "parley"

Also, you're patently a hypocrite because you're insulting people for supporting something that you, yourself, supported.

And yes, it's a parley where we're outmanned, out-armed, and without any information on their hideout. They hold the upper hand, and our brother, who is on their side, is an effective bargaining chip because he certainly would not want us dead. This is a reasonable compromise, far more reasonable than walking into enemy territory with absolutely nothing.
>>
>>3853194
Also I ain't hypocrite ya fuckwit. Just because I voted for a dogshot write-in but changed my mind later without having time to change my vote doesn't mean I'm a hypocrite. I can admit I voted for a trash write-in unlike your bitch ass.
>>
>>3853253
">Great. The terrible time wasting write-in barely made it through."

Your vote played a part in that. You didn't accept responsibility for your part in that when you insulted people. Don't be upset when people call you out.

>fuckwit
>your bitch ass
Again, you are being very belligerent. I think you should take some time to calm down.
>>
>>3853250
I insulted nobody in that greentext unless you're retarded enough to think write-ins hava feelings.

It was literally about dignity. Forgotten himself said it here>>3852782 absolutely nothing was avoided other than that. That write-in was pure feces. Thank fuck the lucky rolls saved us from it.

Absolute LOL at parley again.
>>
>>3853253
Nah retard it's you who needs to chill. Go get your pacifier and sleep.
>>
>>3853262
>>3853272
>>
>>3853265
I disagree with Forgotten's take on it. Avoiding indignity and bossing people around was never the intention of the write-in; avoiding defenselessness and coming to a compromise that still grants the Bluejays a clear upper hand was. Unlike you, however, I didn't call him and everyone who agreed with him a retard doing mental gymnastics.

It is a parley because we are having a meeting between opposing sides on neutral grounds. I find your rebuttal of "absolute lol" and "LOL" unconvincing.

>>3853272
Damn, what a badass.

I'm done. I apologize for contributing to shittery, Forgotten.
>>
>>3853265
And I concede, I shouldn't have included the criticism of the write-in in that list. I stand by everything else.
>>
>>3852910
I'm pretty sure if we ever ride a Wryvern/Dragon who we must absolutely call Asgorga we'll lose any subtlety in exchange for faster than horse travel speed.

>>3853194
My issue with the write In is it has little substantial appeasement, the bluejays hate poncey nobles setting terms and we were in no way in a position to dictate it, it's only through sheer bullshit rolls they actually listened.

In addition they could have easily interpreted our meeting arrangement as trap by queens/kings men and just fucked off or try to kill us.
>>
>>3853250
I don't see where anon has insulted anybody in that text. He just criticised the writein as terrible (which it was) and petty. He didn't start throwing insults until you came and threw insults first.

You seem to be mad and defending a bad vote you supported to save your ego. Relax, your ego means nothing in an anonymous site. You made a bad choice that was mitigated by the unlikely lucky rolls. Move on.
>>
>>3853302
We were not dictating terms, we were proposing a mutually beneficial arrangement. The people with arrows pointed on us dictated their end, which was watching us day and night which ensured that we did not bring any friends to ambush them. Keep in mind, THEY ran into US. We did not run into them and we were clearly unprepared when we first encountered them.

>>3853304
Read his post history. He was clearly hostile (nigga idgaf what you type, go practice mental gymnastics on someone else) and being a hypocrite (he supported the role, accepted no responsibility in its success, and turned on its supporters condescendingly) before I said anything. He was called out on it on by an anon.

I gave him a proportional response and he proceeded to be insulting and mocking while proposing absolutely nothing (unless absolute lol and LOL are considered useful discussion). So I continued to give proportional responses. There's nothing wrong with some shitflinging, but people should be called out on hypocrisy.
>>
Re-reading the writing-in again makes me realize that we were definitely pushing it. It's not unreasonable or crazy for them to accept it because they are working with our brother but we could have reword it far better considering the situation.
>>
>>3853350
That's true. I feel that the people with weapons trained on us reworded it far better, actually, by dictating that we remain in place, away from their super secret base, under constant watch.
>>
>>3853302
Losing subtlety for all that speed seems like a good trade desu.

>>3853328
>Keep in mind, THEY ran into US. We did not run into them

We were literally tracking them by their footprints. Of course we were the ones who ran into them.

>>3853288
I cannot see how that write in did anything but add more fuel to the fire. We were in no position to negotiate and demand anything from them. They had their arrows ready to loose and pointed at us at point blank range. All of this while our pants were down and catched unawares. It would have went straight into a very difficult AV save if it ended up in a fight, because they can't miss at that distance. We would be most likely dead now along with our companions if they wanted to kill us. I honestly can't attribute it's success to anything but very lucky rolls.

That and their working relation with our brother. Fighting, killing and then risking our brother finding out and sour their relationship is probably more trouble than this. Still, they I not be eager to do is any favors.

That’s overwhelmingly in favour of disregarding all protocol and giving your older brother a bear hug.

I can’t get a proper update up until I get back from work tonight, but in the meantime you guys can discuss which Code skill you wish to unlock. I know I said that I usually only award them if you fulfill a vow but finding your brother has been a big goal for Emile and anons for a while now and the doing of it was no easy feat. You managed to navigate some very dangerous territory with only one instance of combat, nonetheless it is a feat worthy of a knight.

The vote tonight will be for the Code skill selection.
>>
>>3853765

For easy reference, here are all of the code skills:

>A Knight is Sworn to Valour
A) Lead by Example: Double DC effect Winning Personal combat has on Battle Progress.
B) Turn the Tide: Winning Personal Combat allows you to re-roll ALL Battle Progress rolls next round.
*You may not flee in the face of the Foe, save by direct command of your liegelord.

>His Heart Knows Only Virtue
A) Flower of Chivalry: Re-Roll all Courtship Rolls
B) Holy Orders: +1 Combat Re-Roll, +1 Path of Adam OR Cain
*You may not be unfaithful to your wife. You may not father bastards, even if unmarried.

>His Blade Defends the Helpless
A) Blademaster: +10DC to Combat (TAKEN)
B) Warform Stance: Double success grant +2 Auto-Damage instead of +1.
*You may not strike down a defenceless or unarmed opponent.

>His Might Upholds The Weak
A) Shield of the Realm: Re-Roll 1 Failed Armour Save per Combat
B) Staggering Blows: Opponent's suffer additional Injury(-5DC) with every point damage.
*You may refuse no call for aid, honestly asked for.

>His Words Speaks Only Truth
A) Orator: +20DC to Persuasion Rolls
B) Leader of Men: +1 Companion Limit
*You may not speak a lie, even to save your own life.

>His Wrath Undoes the Wicked
A) Smite Evil: -20AV to Foes
B) Angel of Death: For one round, damage to Foe is doubled.
*You will neither permit nor abide a villain, nor allow their ill behaviour to go unpunished.
>>
>Smite Evil: -20AV to Foes
>>
>>3853778
>His Heart Knows Only Virtue
>B) Holy Orders: +1 Combat Re-Roll, +1 Path of Adam OR Cain
**You may not be unfaithful to your wife. You may not father bastards, even if unmarried.

No questions about this.
>>
>>3853778

>>
>>3853765
>>3853778
I'm honestly interested in Shield of the Realm, Orator, or Smite Evil.

Not even just for their bonus (which are pretty sweet) but for the potential implications each path would lead to.

I mean not being able to refuse a call for aid would be a major thing since we just met our brother who might ask for our help. Hell, not permitting or abiding a villain in this situation would be....interesting.

Of course not being able to lie presents its own complications.
>>
>>3853847

Correct. Still not Forgotten.

>>3853844
>>No backing out now anon, you are the voting commissioner until forgotten comes back.

Well, in that case since I've still got the old thread open would anons want me to copy/paste the analysis some other anons way back?
>>
>>3853851
sure, could be helpful
>>
>>3853859

Alright, here's the first:

>A Knight is Sworn to Valour
A) Lead by Example: Simple, nice bonus. I find it a bit situational though, especially if compared to his brother…
B) Turn the Tide: Alright, this is one hell of a skill. Re-rolling all failed Battle Progress is huge, even with the risk of double failures. If it can be spammed it’s downright broken as frak.
C) Vow: In a sense, this oath is rather restrictive (unless chivalry allows for tactical retreats, which I doubt) but it also isn’t, since it’s specifically refers to the Foe. If one has a sensible liegelord and good combat aptitude this vow is not much of a burden, if not it’s a delayed death sentence.
>His Heart Knows Only Virtue
A) Flower of Chivalry: Repeat with me – re-rolls are love, re-rolls are life. Even in the field of courtship which isn’t Emile’s specialty this is a pretty good skill to have.
B) Holy Orders: One more chance to save your ass on the battlefield *and* progression towards new cool skills. This Code is definitely high-tier.
C) Vow: Honestly, I don’t see Anons cheating on their waifu – so the first part is taken care of. The second is trickier but not too difficult to handle. It’s a pretty acceptable vow all in all unless you meet the equivalent of Elizabeth I – Almighty helps you in that case.
>His Blade Defends the Helpless
A) Blademaster: Improved DC is always a boon and a straight +10 to every combat is more than welcome.
B) Warform Stance: I’m more skeptical on this if only because it relies too much on the Dice Gods for a single, additional point of damage. Pass.
C) Vow: The workarounds of this have been already discussed. Decent.
>>
>>3853861

>His Might Upholds The Weak
A) Shield of the Realm: Can literally save your life…once per combat. By no means bad but a bit underwhelming.
B) Staggering Blows: The more I damage the opponent, the easier it gets to kill. It needs skills that improve the base DC to work well, once it does Emile will turn into a rapetrain.
C) Vow: Oooof, this is troublesome. Accepting a honest request could very well spell Emile’s doom, either because against a force too dangerous for him or because he didn’t read the other person well. I imagine that improving Courtship would help with the latter at least.
>His Words Speaks Only Truth
A) Orator: Great bonus in a lot of situations. Solid choice.
B) Leader of Men: Meh. It could be worth it if we meet some sort of uber-knight that we absolutely want to JOLLY COOPERATE with, otherwise it’s a pass.
C) Vow: Demanding oath if the old Jedi school of thought ‘It’s not a lie if it’s true from a certain point of view’ can’t be applied to it. Otherwise, with some clever thinking it’s a doable oath.
>His Wrath Undoes the Wicked
A) Smite Evil: Do you see those sturdy foes over there? Yeah, I don’t see them either. Pretty good skill since the faster we wound an enemy the better. Plus, we can shout pic related.
B) Angel of Death: CARNOTAUR IS BACK! Nerfed, but back nonetheless. Doubling damage for one round can literally mean the difference between life and death, as many BCQ veterans know.
C) Vow: This one is tricky. Not associating with people of dubious moral value is a given but other than that the first part seems rather open (I’d like of Forgotten gave some insight on it). The latter is more obvious but at least it seems to leave the chance to bide for time open – so no charging the obvious evil necromancer surrounded by an army.
>>
>>3853865

And the other:

>A Knight is Sworn to Valour
>A) Lead by Example: Double DC effect Winning Personal combat has on Battle Progress.
>B) Turn the Tide: Winning Personal Combat allows you to re-roll ALL Battle Progress rolls next round.
>*You may not flee in the face of the Foe, save by direct command of your liegelord.

This one will give us a great advantage at affecting battles. It's disadvantage won't be really important unless we get messed up in combat real bad.

This one is the one with the least bad disadvantage. The only ones who would care are the ones who want to make a harem, or turn Emile into a manwhore.

>His Blade Defends the Helpless
>A) Blademaster: +10DC to Combat
>B) Warform Stance: Double success grant +2 Auto-Damage instead of +1.
>*You may not strike down a defenceless or unarmed opponent.

This ones gives us really great advantages in combat, but choosing it means we would have to give our foes a chance to fight back.

This one almost assures that we will win in a long fight after we do damage in the first couple of rounds. But we will have to help people we might not like though.

>His Words Speaks Only Truth
>A) Orator: +20DC to Persuasion Rolls
>B) Leader of Men: +1 Companion Limit
>*You may not speak a lie, even to save your own life.

This one gives us a really good social advantage+one more companion that can fight with us. It also makes us shieldless against intrigue types however.

>>His Wrath Undoes the Wicked
>A) Smite Evil: -20AV to Foes
>B) Angel of Death: For one round, damage to Foe is doubled.
>*You will neither permit nor abide a villain, nor allow their ill behaviour to go unpunished.
This one gives us a great advantage against Foe enemy types, but it also forces us to fight any Foe no matter how powerful they are.
>>
>>3853850
While interesting from a plot and meta perspective I will like to argue for option B of His Heart Knows Only Virtue. Not only will help avoid shitstorms but it means a reroll and a step in the path of Adam or Cain. That's another bonus in the path of Adam or one point away from the next bonus in the path of Cain.
>>
>>3853778
I'd be happy with either
>B) Turn the Tide: Winning Personal Combat allows you to re-roll ALL Battle Progress rolls next round.
for the sheer strength of it(and from how recent events are going, we might need it soon in a certain siege), or
>B) Staggering Blows: Opponent's suffer additional Injury(-5DC) with every point damage.
because I like the oath and better personal combat will likely save us on more occasions.

Theres probs with that, one frist getting a wife, we are currently spanding alot of time doing kinght things and dodnt realy have time to curt anyone, would be needing both fimalys to say yes to it.

By the time we get a wife we lrobs have finshed this quest or close to it.

And haveing a wofe thats a eamon in the sheets would be harder to find as such things are must liky naver spoken of(that we knoe) ir has had dick befor, which much ladys naver get till wedding night or they are damged goods.
Our knight cant even jack off at this point to start with.

Just seems weird and you fags all trying to meata game this.

lady Sinclair we talked to like 2-3 times and she liked talking back.
Wouldnt call that going steady at all
Wouldnt be argest it if to me it made since to the mc.
>>
All of you worrying about staying faithful to your wife when we already met her. Lady Rabe.

Kidding mostly aside, I think we can pass pretty clearly on Leader of Men at this point. We can get the same bonus from having a standard.
Granted rolling with 4/5 other kniggas would be a sight to see, but we really aren't in a place where that's feasible. Maybe in the future, but it's hard to pass on +20 to anything. And does Emile even lie?

The Sworn to Valor skills should probably wait until the fifth or sixth round, just because choosing it early may hamper combat growth, and we don't even have a liegelord to command a retreat.

Staggering Blows is broken, but it would probably be better to wait until the back end on that one as well. It would probably be best to choose it after completing the pilgrimage. Otherwise we'd never get done.

His Wrath Undoes the Wicked is probably middle-backend as well, at least before Valor and possibly Might. Great skills, but it would become really easy to bite off more than you could chew.

So, with some wiggle room up or down one slot for each, it might look like this:
>Virtue
>Truth
>Might
>Wrath
>Valour
>>
>>3854025
>Virtue
>Truth
>Might
>Wrath
>Valour

I would go with is order as well, we might switch it around a little if our circumstances change but I think it's pretty solid.

>This one almost assures that we will win in a long fight after we do damage in the first couple of rounds. But we will have to help people we might not like though.

You know. All this really means is that we have to convince folks that they don't really want our aid.

So what we need to do is set compensation for things we really dont want to do and let the petitioners realise they actually really dont want our help.

"Sir Knight, please help me!"

"Sure! For 5 wealth."

B) Holy Orders: +1 Combat Re-Roll, +1 Path of Adam OR Cain

Another combat re-roll. Think about just how damn useful these have been. They've saved our ass more than once, especially with the enemies Adverse Re-Rolls in play. And another point towards Cain or Adam which means more cool powers and shit making us more powerful both socially and in combat depending on the path etc.
>>
>>3854023
No one is trying to meta shit here except you (and your shit ability to type doesn't help)

>we seem to be getting all these no wife chick's poping up

And what exactly is Maid Sinclair? She's a pretty damn good candidate for a wife. And we've only just begun our journey so there is plenty of time to meet someone to marry if not her.

>> im sure is going to get you all thristy

You couldn't be projecting any harder. The only one getting thirsty here is you, whinging that you wont be able to have "sexy times" as you put it.

>>i just dont seem y in mc point of pov y he would take that vow and taking it once we found our bro

What exactly does finding our brother have to do with us being faithful and not fathering bastards? Do you think the quest is about to turn into some sort of "Hangover - Reunion" movie where we get drunk and fuck all the bitches in Fallavon? As to the MC taking that vow, Emile is fairly pious for a Romani Knight. He is literally doing the most religious method of Knight Errantry possible by visiting all the holy sites and standing vigil etc. He's had one experience as an adult with an unmarried woman and afterwards was super indecisive and unsure about it all. Not exactly the poster boy for a life of being a manwhore which you seem to want so badly.

>>lady Sinclair we talked to like 2-3 times and she liked talking back. Wouldnt call that going steady at all

I mean... the universe we're playing in is set in a different time with different rules to the way you and I live. She gave us a token of affection to publicly display, she's had numerous conversations with us that went on longer than would be polite for two people of our stations with no interest in each other. She told us where she lives so that we may send her letters (and send her parents a letter). We're by no means route locked but as I understand it, we're making real progress towards official courtship and it wouldn't be all too difficult to start arranging that with both Lady Sinclair and her parents.

Besides all that, taking the Virtuous code gives us a combat re-roll AND a point towards Adam or Cain. Extra powers are always a good thing and those re-rolls have saved our ass so many times. They've made getting through these very dangerous woods actually not so bad.
>>
>>3854374
We really should take the extra time we have to visit her and ask for formal permission to write her letters.
>>
>>3854402
Yeah for sure on the way back I'd like to stop in assuming we can do so quickly enough that we don't leave the pilgrims stranded but not so quick that it'd be rude
>>
>>3854406
We have 21 days to get back to the pilgrim; We can probably take 3 to 5 go there, visit and come back. Maybe even less depending how long it take it get there.
>>
>>3854416
That's a good point actually, I forgot how well we're doing for time. Lets hope we don't become prisoners of a secret war in the next few days
>>
>>3854402
You can also arrange a courier, though non-Romani custom would dictate that the first letter is addressed to her superior male relative (father) asking permission. You actually don’t need her permission really, though obviously that helps. A man will effectively choose his daughters husband and while personal affection is something that helps and may be a large factor, it won’t be the only factor at all for most men. In Romaine it’s a little different but that’s a unique situation, should be interesting to see Sir Andrei make some innocuous mistakes there.

Please remember, exchanging of letters is a significant step on the pathway to matrimony. It’s not outright cheating to court other women at the letter stage, but it’s a chad move for sure that wouldn’t go down well with others women if the find out.
>>
>>3854515
Right on, so visit their family state under the excuse of return her favor, introduce ourselves to family, return favor, innocent talk while being chaperon, introduce her Courageous Sky (she likes hawking), ask permission to write her letter from her father, don't put foot on mouth.
>>
>>3854515
Got it. Might wanna hold off on the letter exchanging then.

>>3854515

Doesn't her favour unlock more bonuses the closer we get with her? I feel like I remember reading that but I might be totally wrong. Could you refresh me on that Forgotten?

It's a pretty good excuse to see her but I kind of want to keep the token, especially if it gets better with closeness. We could just be typical old awkward Emile and be straight up with the family about why we're visiting I guess?
>>
>>3854374
If the re rolles and shit wasnt part of that vow,you would naver have picked it at all, right up picking it for the bonus. Tell your not.

And with how he was with good old tracker that came about couse you people didnt know how to talk with girls and it was his 1st time(where beening a noble where having sex means you get married ), though nether dose mc,

To me part of the reason he is doing the whole thing isnt becouse his super into god bla bla more to see more of the world and if he was going to do it might as well do the whole thing.

Not about been a manwhore i just dont see y he would do this vow when there has been no reason for him to ever take this,
Il be down for this once we get a wife not when we are in the butt fuck no where,

Yes it does mean affiliation with a Holy Order of some sort later down the line, but don’t worry I won’t force anything on you and we can assume it occurs at some point during your pilgrimage.

Most orders have levels of affiliation, so at the lowest level you’d only wear a mark or badge of some sort rather than their full colours. This indicates that, if they ask for help and you are in the vicinity, you will answer.

We can get into that in more detail and what sort of Order suits Emile later but for now I promise you it will not bind you to anything near the extent of Brother Marcel or lifelong members (unless you seek exactly that).
>>
>>3854810
I suppose thats better than a hardline join an order Vow, Im disinclined to vote towards the Holy order perk until more is revealed regarding whats going on to make the queens own Order reginate so desperate to conceal something.
>>
>>3853985
There is a problem with your statement, it's called you mistaken my jest to be serious. Although to be fair I should have shitposted harder.
>>
>>3854819
It can be as serious or as in-depth as anons want. Some of these orders are more like membership clubs or were created for very specific roles that don’t have much affect on the day-to-day direction of your life. While some sort of affiliation is non-negotiable, it won’t be a dominating feature of your duties unless you guys want it to be like that.
>>
>>3854866
I assume that leaves out most of the major Orders then?
>>
>>3854882
No like he said its a matter of how serious we want Emille to take it on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a coppeclipper tier for the perks of association and 10 being actually dedicating ourselves fully to it for life with vows and all.
>>
>>3854885
I'd honestly be down with going full 10 towards the end of the game. But obviously for now it'd be best if we had a bit more freedom etc
>>
I'd go all the way as long as it's a order that allows us to marry and remain a lord as Damien seems like he won't be the heir
>>
>>3854887
My issue with going all is we cant get married, we can't sire heirs if our brother dies and we'll be under the thumb of the queen as the head of the church.

>>3854888
Im pretty sure the orders themselves involve vows of celibacy emulating the Path of adam and Cain

>Damien wont be heir
unlikely but if he does die we should consider the state of our house and the Issue that may arise from us becoming Heir apparent.
>>
>>3854901
>>is we cant get married, we can't sire heirs if our brother dies and we'll be under the thumb of the queen as the head of the church.

Possibly, I think it'd pay to investigate exactly what we can and can't do in all of the various Orders at each level. There may be some with a little more freedom for their members despite the expectations. As for the Queen, there are secular Orders and those not specifically aligned with the Queen so we do have options.

Anyway at this stage it's more of a talking point than anything serious. I'd like to see what happens with Damien first as well
>>
>>3854901
Not all of them must demand celibacy if some are like membership clubs. Maybe we could found our own order to reclaim Lost Ardenne from the deadmau5.
>>
>>3854916
>deadmau5
That's suppose to be deadmen, but for now on I'm going to imagine the Fae responsible for Lost Ardenne with a huge rodent like mask.
>>
>>3854910
Investigation is probably a good Idea their are likely nuances we aren't aware of with the orders and we don't know a whole lot that gurantees anything with vows they require

>As for the Queen, there are secular Orders and those not specifically aligned with the Queen so we do have options.

Yeah except so far their are only two secular orders the roiguard and the Order reginate additionally the queen is basically the pope of Canton and with the exception of the Roiguard the queens authority speaks to all.
>>
>>3854948
You've also got The Order of the Trident, which whilst technically Adam aligned is considered by most to be secular and quite powerful. That being said I don't really see it as something Emile would join currently
>>
>>3854952

> “BROTHER!” You rush in without thought for proper decorum, lifting your sibling up in a crushing embrace. By the Almighty it’s good to see him alive. [Hearty]
>You have braved the wild and treacherous deep woodlands of Fallavon and found your brother! GAINED +1 KNIGHT’S CODE SKILL

Fenegan, 23nd Day of Ovrimun, 883 A.C.E. – Early morning

”BROTHER” You yell with joyful abandon, rushing through the throng of Bluejay rebels to lift your sibling up in a crushing embrace.

”Oof! Strong as ever I see, little brother!” Young Lord Damien gasps, clutching at your back and hugging you tightly. ”By the Almighty Emmy, what are you doing out here?”

”Looking for you of course, you damn fool!” Your eyes are moist and you have to force your emotions down with a deep sniff. This display of emotion was embarrassing enough given the present audience. “I was beginning to think I’d have to turn over every rock in Fallavon before I found you!”

”Is the Family alright? Mother? Our sisters?” Damien asks worriedly. ”What of Father’s campaign?”

”They’re fine! Worried sick about you, but in good health. You know how women are, obsessed with the latest Aubrey fashions. Father’s campaign went well, we put the intruding Deadmen to rest by the end of winter. Mother is furious with the both of us, of course, but what else is new?” You grin ruefully, clasping your brothers shoulders and looking him up and down. He’s a little worse for wear, the gritty clothing and battered armour clearly he’s been living it rough for some time. But he’s whole and, present rebel company excluded, safe. Salve Reginae bless this day, it’s good to see that him alive and well. ”What of your squire, that Jaskier boy?”

”Dead, Salve Reginae spare his soul. If it weren’t for my friend the Tailor, I’d be done for too. So much has happened these last few months! I… it is difficult to explain.” Your brother’s face falls, but the excited exchange continues. He’s clearly happy to see you too. ”Did Father send you? Or did you finally start your Errantry you’ve been chomping at the bit for?”

”Yes, at last.” Despite the more ominous news of your brother’s companions fate you can’t quite keep the stupid grin off your face. Your brother is alive. ”Actually, I’m halfway through my pilgrimage to stand all the Holy Vigils.”

”Pilgrimage! I suppose, I shouldn’t be surprised. Though I can hardly blame Mother for trying to reign you in. Your voice was still breaking when you first asked leave to start your Errantry.” Your brother shakes his head with a wry smirk. ”And look at you now. I half-suspect Father got you out of the castle for fear of you emptying the kitchen, you must have grown a head taller since last Summer. My little brother Emmy, all grown up. An anointed knight, and jumping feet-first into danger with the rest of them.”

With arms wrapped around one another’s shoulders you walk and talk as you did in the days of your childhood. Your brother’s wisdom and temperance, your impetuous enthusiasm. Both destined for different paths in life, but always you had each other’s back. You get the impression things will not be so simple as those easy days…

”I prayed for you. Every night.” You say quietly, offering thanks to Heaven for answering.
”The Almighty must have listened, little brother.” Damien whispers back, ruffling your hair like you’re a kid again. ”Saints know, I’ve had more than a few close calls of late. You wouldn’t believe… well, it’s a long story…”

"Believe me, I'm listening."

Combat rolls have save our ass many times before. +1 on a Path is also a pretty damn big deal as it is a step closer to more powers. Emile doesn't seem like a big hoe. We had a fumbled and embarrassing experience fooling around with a girl. I think, especially with all of his sisters, Emile would see this virtue as as an obvious choice. That dosnt stop him beening a whore since the loop hole is that he isnt allowed to have kids outside of his wife.

Soo gay route is still open, so is any sexual act that wont end up with the girl have a baby so your idea isnt 100%.

Also pretty sure like 90% of you you holy order fags are just going at it for the re-rolls any ways and not really thinking y the mc would ever pick this and the whole order helping thing, kidna dont wana start getting into orders just yet as we know things happening behind closed doors, rather just wait.

Mc dosnt have to bang everything that comes his way, we and he can just vote no and not vow on this, since like you kinda trying to force something thats not there.

With the cant tell a lie peoples, i get itl help us with court but as we are involved in some bad shit just seeing our bro i woud rather be able to lie about it as i dont think our boy is good enough with word play to get around haveing to tell the truth all the time.

As to my thing itl help us with fights since we hardly pick the safe stances, bound to get hit and if we keep buy better armor the re-roll gets better and it happens every combat.
Oh and the 1+ to adem or cain we get thise just by playing normaly so not really the bigest up side.

Just my 2 cents

All vows are restrictive, Virtue seems the least onerous, the more in character and with great mechanical bonuses. If I were you I be arguing in favor of another vow instead of just going against Virtue.

Yes. Easily.

Ava Sinclair is a prospect, not a certainty. It's all right if that doesn't work out, Emile is a noble and probably an attractive one too so his options will be open.
Maybe a big part of honor and nobility is making occasional self-sacrifices, such as resisting hedonism, momentary pleasure, and temptation.

Lest with the one im wanting
We wore going to help people anyways( as a kight should do) and we can chose how much help we give.

Lest we can lie about information and involvment( which im sure is going to come up having sneaking about in the woods), no issues been joined to any orders so freedom of movement (depanding) and no one hopefully hateing on us any more then normal.

And having to kill nobles becouse they beening evil is just going to land us in super hot water unless we do it sneaky or though thr law wich probs wont happen most of the time and making other powerfully family hate ours.
I mean i do see how the one im asking for can back fire but in what i can tell lets us have alot more freedom in court and life in general.
>>
>>3855366
His a early 20 late teen whis life is in danger all the time, y wouldnt he want to have sex again befor having a wife from i last cheacked he dosnt have anything really keeping him back from it.
Then i guse you naver had good sex then.

And beening a unmarried kinght dosnt mean for you to naver have sex till having a wife.

Our family isnt that big and have been out of the court game and our bro "helping" the bad people is a bad thing to have on our name and could hender the girls family.
Any good marriage at this point would pretty much only benefit our family with a way back in the court good books and lower the other.

You can make that vow once we get married or promised to a girl. Just kinda pointless at this stage as im sure we wont get promised/ married till after we done our trip and then who knows whats going to happen.

Think itl be good to ask mother what she thinks.

>His Heart Knows Only Virtue
B) Holy Orders: +1 Combat Re-Roll, +1 Path of Adam OR Cain
*You may not be unfaithful to your wife. You may not father bastards, even if unmarried.
While the actual Order that Sir Andrei joins remains to be decided, you gain the benefits now.

”These ‘Wytes’,brother… Are you one of them now?” You dread the answer, and the possible implications. ”What do they want?”

“Equality, where every man is entitled to the sweat of his own brow. Is it so outrageous to you, brother? Were I born in a farmstead rather than a castle I’d have doubtless long dropped the pitchfork and taken up the bow with these fellows.” Your brother has that admonishing look that you know well from your childhood years. He takes much after Father there, and not a little of Mother too. “But no, I am not one of them. Even if I sought a place among their ranks their distrust of the nobility runs to deep. Our goals align for now but it is more an alliance of convenience than a true bond.”

”They seek anarchy, brother. Worse, treason against the Crown. If you’re no fanatic revolutionary then what on Creation are you doing consorting with their ilk?” Your brother’s affiliation with the Wyte’s was known to Mother, or at least the accusation of it. For it to be confirmed is… ‘troubling’ is a insufficient word.

”Because I made a vow, Emile. A sacred oath, in the eyes of the Almighty and even in the hallowed secret places of Ursen.” Your brother Damien tone is tired, as heavy as the lids under his eyes. ”If I forswear it my soul is forfeit. And our family, cursed. I am sworn to save…”

[1/2]
>>
>>3858284

[2/2]

”Ursen?! Ursen. Is. Dead. Brother Cain slew him at the River Ardenne over 800 years ago! That bond on our forefathers was broken!” Your voice raises as you grow increasingly frustrated with your sibling’s evasiveness. The Almighty holds the soul of House Andrei in his care now, not the Wild masters of antiquity. This talk… people have burned at the stake for FAR less. ”The Queen’s Heralds, foreign mercenaries, secret codes and a clandestine war that makes this little rebellion a sideshow… By the Pit and Purgation brother, tell me what is going on here!”

“I… You’re right.” Your brother’s hesitation hurts, but not as much as the suspicion when his eyes meet yours again. ”I will tell you what I know, but I need to hear what you know so far. Tell me, brother, what do you think is happening out here?”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Holy Order
+1 Step on the Path of Cain
+1 Step on the Path of Adam
This will reflect the future Order’s leanings, though how extreme is up for debate. I’m also happy for any suggestions of Orders you want to hear more about or even a write-in OC Order. Keep in mind, if it is a write-in then it is likely to be fairly minor in size and influence unlike the major ordos like the Broken Blade or Knights Comitas.

Whatever is in that ruin or wherever the male beastemen slaves are going is beyond the pit damning to crown and country and potentially soul, the queensmen are desperate to hide it, the Kingsmen are hellbent on finding it and our brother is desperate to save(?) it or preserve the status quo, our brother aligned with the Bluejays to kick either or both parties out of Deep Favallon.

The biggest question remains what is it and how it connects to the parties involved that make them so desperate in their quests to deny the others

as for what it could be I'm inclined to believe its value is theological in nature as the Queens power by and large comes from its theological roots and her position as head of the Canton church, but weither its the site of one of the brothers burials, the location of Salve reginae a portal to the pit or Allmighty knows what else is a mystery.

>There is an on going conflict between the Prince and Queen. The Prince has hired some mercenaries+knights to excavate something in the nearby ruins. The Queen's men are here to kill the Prince's men and stop whatever they are doing out here. whether they know what the Prince is doing in the ruins is unknown. If I had to guess the Prince's men are probably digging out some kind of Fae artifact or something related to Fae-Human wars. The Fae following us indicates that the Fae at least have a presence here.

One of the Dukes (who possibly might have sided with the prince) has men and Mercenaries up here which are securing slave labor in the form of Beastmen to be shipped off to work at some dig site to uncover some sort of artifact.

The Queens men, who he identified a few, are here to put down this group and find out any information they can while keeping this all a secret. We know that Lord Alderauge is somehow involved or at least just knows about our brother due to that message he gave us.

Also, we ate dinner with one of the Fae children of the woods.

The Prince is attempting to build his own power base, independent of the Queen and I presume the King. To do this he has enlisted the help of the Carthagi, in exchange for allowing them to capture beastmen and probably undisclosed 'favors' once he is in power. He seems to have hit a breakthrough in his efforts by finding... something in those ruins, exactly what I don't know. And the Queensmen are now attempting to bury again whatever he's dug up.

Someone (who tried to have us killed) is using mercenaries and enslaved beastmen to dig up something at the old fort. The combined Reginate and order of names are preparing to wipe out their existence. We don't know what is at stake but it's clearly big. We suspect it goes as deep as the Prince vs the Queen but we have little evidence.

The Prince and Queen are in conflict, maybe even over something to do with the succession, right now the Prince's Langlish mercenaries a few other of his agents are working to dig something out of the ruins. Something that
worries the Queen so much that she has order the Order Regina to put a stop to it and leave no witness and erase any evidence about whats going on here. Tell him that the Langlishmen were told they were close to their objective and the order Order Regina and the Order of Names were planing to attack in three days before they discover we overheard their plans.

Seems a little quiet war is happening. Looks like someone is getting funding to pay for Mercs, and is working with the Carthagi to pay for it. But I don't think it's full on civil war yet, otherwise there would be more official forces on one side instead of Mercs with plausible deniability.
