You’re still in the stinky alley… Nothing has happened since Ichie Saionji presented herself to you and Catastrovania. You are just staring at her in uncomfortable silence while she’s still sporting her shining smile. It’s been a few minutes now…

“…Is there anything I can help you with?” You try to be polite and break the ice simultaneously.
“No, Alfred Brown! On contraire, I’m here to rescue you!” Ichie responds with bizarre enthusiasm.
“You just said that…”
“I thought you didn’t hear me!” It would have been impossible not to hear her shouts.

“I did. I was only showing my bewilderment by not reacting appropriately.”
“I understand!” Ichie smiles. “The circumstances behind your life has led you to a treacherous path, I can lead you back to the path of redemption! That’s why I’m here!”

“W-What does that mean?” Catastrovania feels so confused, she had the need to say something at least.
“You must be Alfred’s other companion! We have no information about you. Nice to meet you!” Despite Ichie’s kind words, her demeanor is more uncouth towards Cat.

“Y-Yeah…” Catastrovania is now hiding behind you like all magic users do…
“Alfred, I have investigated you thoroughly, and I can not help but feel for you. So! I’m here to take you to the right path and aid you in your mission in life!”

It doesn’t feel like she’s going to elaborate without some intervention…

“Please elaborate. I don’t understand what’s going on.”
“Alfred… Can I call you Alfred?” Ichie kindly asks. You shrug in response. “I did some extensive research on you, from the beginning to the very end! I understand your plight, Alfred. You’re an introverted man, so I do not wish to divulge this information any further than this.” Ichie stares at Catastrovania. “But I’m here to help you! Rescue you from your demons!”

“…You’re just repeating yourself.” Catastrovania comments to the oblivious girl.
“Alfred, look at me.” Ichie completely ignores Cat’s comments. “What happened to your family was morbid. What happened to your store was a disgrace. But what is happening with your life can be stopped – paths diverge but they can connect back...” Ichie takes her wallet from her pocket. “As the heir of the Saoinji family, my parents encouraged me to invest in new ventures – to slowly get accustomed to the business world. We might not be the wealthiest family in the entire country, but I have enough money in my disposal to rebuild that lovely store of yours. And if that isn’t good enough for you to cease this behavior, I would gladly form a partnership with you if you so desire.”

“A-Are you trying to buy him with money?!” Catastrovania looks offended for both of you.
“No, of course not. Alfred and I know this is not about money. Great men are driven people, and I believe that Alfred was on the path of greatness – until that terrible series of incidents. I know in the bottom of his heart he doesn’t wish to resort to violence, he was wronged, but he doesn’t see another path – that’s how tough the world is to men. Leaving their desires behind for the greater good. But I can rescue you, take you back to your path and leave all this nonsense behind us. What do you say?”

“D-Don’t listen to her! She’s pulling some sort of trick! Y-Your store was shit anyway!” You hear from your pocket Odetta screaming at you.

“Sorry. But you don’t know me. I’m starting to get tired of people with a savior complex.” You respond bluntly. “You gotta do better than that.”
“Good boy!” You hear Odetta celebrating.

Ichie is taken aback for a second, then a different type of smile covers her face – one that doesn’t look as fake as previously. She puts her wallet away and resumes talking:

“Savior complex? Are you one of those pseudo-nihilists that think the satisfaction of helping is a selfish desire? That the reward doesn’t come from seeing another person smile but to feed my own ego with the praise I receive from our peers? I’m sorry, I do not believe the desire to help others is nothing but an altruist sentiment.” Ichie puts her hand on her chest. “Just to clarify, I don’t plan to parole this deal with anyone else, this will be kept between us – but it’s important to say this isn’t charity. I’m not trying to help you because I feel pity, but because I see potential in you.”

“…I’m here, you know?” Catastrovania raises her hand.
“And I find it slightly irritating for this reason. Nothing personal.” Ichie smiles yet again.
“…I d-don’t know why, but I don’t quite believe you.”

“You have your reasons, I do not wish you to explore them as of now.” Ichie tries to gather your attention again. “Mr. Alfred! I’ve shown you I’m not doing this for my own satisfaction or as pure charity. You said my deal wasn’t enough? I’m inclined to agree. I don’t know if you are informed about this, but I’m one of Aleister's best friends…” Ichie pulls her phone out. “I’m currently calling Aleister right now. If you accept my deal, I’ll make him apologize to you for everything he did as well. He will admit everything, I swear. So please, Alfred, I want you to have a better life!”

You see her phone dialing Aleister’s number…

“He’ll be sorry alright. Not interested.” You decline anyway! You gently push her phone back to her. Ichie cancels her call.
“Alfred, could you explain to me why?” Ichie looks down with her phone still on her hands.
“I rather not. Cat, let’s go.” You point to the way you came from to leave this stinky alley.

Fufufu, my assistant is too smart to fall for your tricks.” Catastrovania proclaims like this is some kind of victory for her?
Tricks? You may be used to deceive good people, but I’m a woman of good.” Ichie gets irritated by Cat’s remarks. “I feel bad for you, Alfred. You’ve been manipulated all your life you cannot distinguish when someone speaks frankly with you. Can’t you see this girl and Ms. Duchemin have poisoned your mind?”

“…I believe you’re giving them too much credit.” You respond. Catastrovania looks a little offended, but you’re going to ignore it.
“Or maybe it’s time for you to open your eyes.” Ichie won’t back down. “Alfred Brown, I’m more interested in you than what I would like to admit, so I can’t let us part ways like this now. Violence has never been my favorite alternative, but it’s always an option. Do not underestimate me.”

Ichie is now in her fighting stance. She looks ridiculous.

“…Don’t worry, Alfred. This is just the first step for your redemption.” She’s really betting on herself… She has some brass knuckles on her hands! “I’ll beat goodness into your heart!”

“W-Woah, are you serious?! You want to fight him?!” Catastrovania looks at you then at her, then at you again!

Do you really seriously want to beat up a girl?

“Are you going to let her talk to you like that?! Beat her ass! Teach her a lesson! I believe in you, Alfred!” You hear from your pocket. Odetta wants some ass-kicking now…

You stare at her for a few seconds. Then you pull out your phone…

“Odetta, call the police for me.”
“Aye, aye, captain!” Odetta smirks the way she only knows how.
“Huh…?!” Ichie is caught off guard.

You hear the policeman answer from the other side. “Hello officer, me and my acquaintance are being threatened by some crazy woman, she looks like this…” You start describing Ichie Saionji to the poor police officer.

“Rejects my deal for egomaniacal reasons… Doesn’t understand he’s being manipulated by two lowly women… He’s in a silly vendetta for no good reason… Calls the police instead of fighting me…” Ichie murmurs rapidly to herself. “Alfred Brown! I swear I’ll save you!” Ichie escapes like the coward hypocrite she is with a perverted smile on her face! That’s no good!

“…You know, I fully understand now why you hate all of these people.” Catastrovania comments as the maniacal girl runs away from the stinky alley.
“They are easy to hate.” The understatement of the year. “We should go back to inform the others about what happened.”
“S-Sure…” Catastrovania agrees and the two finally leave this stinky place. One lesson you learn this morning is that you won’t ever play this phone game again. It’s only trouble and makes it easy for strangers to stalk you into alleys.

Back at your apartment, you’re greeted by a nice surprise – you have new furniture for some reason! It doesn’t look great, but they are something.

“Where did you get this stuff?” Catastrovania is as perplexed as you are.
“Oh, Bruce brought them! I helped clean them up and stuff. Jump on ‘em if you wanna!” A cheerful Maggie explains.
“I’m fine…” Catastrovania doesn’t know what to think of them. You sit on the new couch and it’s not comfortable.

“Is he here?” You ask.
“Yeah, in the bathroom.” Maggie points to the room in question.

Once all the members are in the living room, you informed them about Ichie Saionji and her shenanigans. Bruce commended your ability to remain calm and not fall for her tricks. Maggie instead asked why Catastrovania didn’t fight her in a straight one on one. Catastrovania said she would’ve to unleash her real power and that would totally destroy Ichie and wouldn’t be worth the effort.

Another topic, Bruce explained he asked a friend for his truck, then he went around the city and started to collect free furniture for everyone in spots he saw online. How nice of him, much more reliable than the girls.

Lunch time is nearing and now the full team is procrastinating…

There's gotta be records or some shit dude. Dead bodies are heavy and hard to move, they smell a certain way, they attract all sorts of insects who exclusively feed on the dead and nothing else, and more. Why not pursue the transplant lead? Hospitals track that stuff in their medical records, though there is confidentiality bullshit that might get in the way...

We went on revenge because Alister destroyed our dad's shop so much it drove him to an early grave, when we tried to get him to apologize he tried to beat us up.

I feel like any part of us that would have allowed peace is gone now, short of Allister himself taking a bullet for us, we're pretty firmly on the path of revenge. Money won't distract us, and a forced apology from someone unrepentant won't placate us.

After having a pleasant meal with your team (that you prepared). It’s time to move forward and start searching for Odetta’s body! You inform everyone about your intentions:

“We need to find Odetta’s body.” You pull your phone out to drive your point. Bruce and Catastrovania are sitting on the new table. Maggie is cleaning the dishes and you just stood up to gather everyone’s attention.

“It’s about time!” Odetta is hyped. Your screen displays her on a futon and eating some instant noodles. You’re not going to discuss how any of this is possible.

“Where can we find dead bodies?” You want to discuss your options.
“T-The morgue…?” Bruce isn’t sure if his answer is satisfactory.
“Maybe a graveyard!” Catastrovania seems excited to visit such a place.

“Hey! I’m not dead, you dimwits! Don’t even think like that! I’m sure my body is resting in a beautiful clinic somewhere.” Odetta is offended…
“So the morgue…” good ol’ Bruce remarks again to your amusement.
“That’s not funny!” Odetta is getting irritated.

“Oh wait, she wasn’t like part of our imagination and stuff!” Maggie is half scared, half surprised. “…You should delete her, Allie.” Maggie is all serious now.
“W-What?! You can’t just delete me like that, right!?” Odetta spills her instant noodles!

“We’re not deleting anyone yet.” You clarify as it wasn’t your intention. “The faster we help her, the less we question how our reality works and the meaning of our lives.” Aside from revenge of course.
“You said you don’t remember a thing, right? So… huh… where do we start?” Catastrovania turns to you as everyone else does.

The perks and burdens of being the leader, huh?

“Let’s go to the nearest morgue, err… Hospital and let’s ask some questions.” You decide.
“Just say it! You’ll go to the morgue! Just don’t forget we’re searching for my STILL living body!” Odetta sounds kind of pissed.
“We need to start from somewhere, you know?” in an atypical moment, Catastrovania backs your decision.

“Do I look furious to you, darling?” Odetta sure does sounds furious though.
“Can’t see shit on your screen with all the lighting.” Maggie feels the need to say something.
“T-That’s not…! Ugh! J-Just go! Alfred said it best, the faster we do this the better.” Odetta is tired of dealing with your group.

“I-I still have the truck. Let’s use it.” Bruce offers. While you like driving, you wouldn’t mind if he takes the mantle for the time being. It will help his anxiety by feeling useful anyway. Besides, he knows the city better than anyone.
“Sure.” You agree and everyone gets ready to go!

You had to delve deeper into the city to find the nearest hospital. The city streets have a greater number of cars moving around than you’re accustomed to – the people look too busy to look around their perimeter. You find it odd, but you could get used to this.

You arrive at a shady hospital: The Great Care. If people weren’t walking in and out of the establishment, you could have sworn this was an abandoned building. You’re paying for the parking slot, so you’ll have to be brief or pay the price.

“Woah, this place sure is big.” Catastrovania looks more concerned than surprised with her comment. “Have you come here before?” She asks Bruce.
“N-N-No…” Bruce just shakes his head. “S-Should we separate in pairs...? We should move fast, right?”
“I don’t feel like that’s a good idea…” Maggie looks uneasy, but not frightened. “That place looks like the Morgue…” Maggie points to one of the buildings. It’s one big building, but you can tell they are separated into different wings. They look exactly the same to you though.

“How do you know…?” You are deeply confused. Seems Catastrovania and Bruce were wondering the same thing.
“I don’t know? Instinct...?” Maggie starts walking to the building she pointed at.
“What are you waiting for?! Move! Make progress!” Odetta screams from your pocket. Guess you don’t have time to question it…

You would like to know at this moment why almost every single place you have set foot on looks like it’s haunted. Like why? Are you cursed? Why can’t this one be the exception? Well, it’s a morgue. The corridor you manage to see seem to be consumed by the darkness the further you try to look… There is a reception, a woman with a plague mask is waiting…

“HOW can I HELP you?” The woman notices everyone in the group and asks you directly. Everyone in the group promptly stand behind you for some reason. You’ll be the one doing the talking as usual…

“I’m Alfred Brown and I’m her friend. She has been missing, and her apartment was rented to another man, so I’m worried about her.” You explain to the gloomy-looking woman.
“…” She loudly stares at you, deeply into your soul… At least, you believe she is. You cannot see her eyes at all, so you’re just guessing. “…Can you show me your pic again?”
“Of course…” You slowly take your phone out again, hoping Odetta quickly gets into position.

Heidi carefully looks at the phone… “Does she look different to you?” Oh no, did Odetta fuck up!?
“What do you mean?” You feign ignorance with your stoicness.
“Almost looks like it’s not the same photography. It’s like your friend is ALIVE in here!”
You move closer to check your phone. You didn’t pay much attention to her last pose, so you have to come up with something. “She looks the same to me? Did you swap the pic?”

“Oh! That may be it! Whoopsie Doopsie HOOPSIE! My mistake!” Heidi hands you back your phone without even attempting to corroborate what you said. “Now, I see you HAVE a group of friends with you.”
“Is that going to be a problem?”
“Yup! I can only sneak in one of you at the time!”

“…Is that even necessary? Can’t we just go all together?”
“Yes, it is necessary! Please follow me!”

Heidi robotically stands up from her desk, opens a little door and walks into the shadows of the corridor. Without having any other option, you tell the rest of the group to wait here while you follow the plague doctor. The way she walks, it’s almost hypnotizing – it’s so unique…

“Is anything wrong…?”
“Keep it between us. I just need you to help me identify someone that might be or not be your friend…” The plague doctor explains.
“And I’m the only one coming here because…?”
“Because I’m doing this on a whim! So please be quiet.”

You’re certainly getting a bit concerned and a great deal of afraid. This doesn’t feel like it’s a good idea. But something inside you can not let it stop…

You walk for like what felt for hours, you’ve been going up stairs for quite a while after the first section you went through – you follow her to a dismal looking corridor with many doors by the side. In another time, this would’ve been a normal section in the hospital, but now…

The only good sign here is that this place doesn’t appear to be the morgue any longer.

“Wait for me here, Mr. Brown. I need to check if we’re in the clear first.” Heidi grabs your arm and makes you randomly sit on a chair next to a room – then she promptly disappears, almost into thin air. Once she’s gone, you noticed there is a little girl in front of you, waiting outside of another room – you two are rudely staring at each other without saying a word and are the only people here…

What do you do?

“Waiting for someone?”
“Y-Yes.” The little girl has no problem answering your question. “I’m waiting for someone to tell me where to go. They don’t let me visit him anymore.”
“Who's they? The doctors?”
The little girl nods.

“To see who?”
“M-My dad.”
“I see. Is he in the room next to you?” She did mention she doesn’t know where to go.
“No… I don’t know where he is anymore.” She looks down with pain in her eyes. Your instincts tell you not to continue prying. “Are you waiting for someone as well?”

“Yes, a friend of mine. I need directions too, more or less the same deal as you. Do you come here frequently?”
The little girl nods again as some sort of gloominess covers the air.

What’s your name?”
“Madotsuki.”
“I’m Alfred. Nice to meet you.”

“Anything you like to do?”
Little Madotsuki looks down again with a pained expression. “See my dad…”
“I meant if you have any hobbies.” You explain yourself.

Madotsuki’s eyes shine for a little bit, then she digs out a strange-looking book. She shows it to you with a gleeful attitude. At a glance, it’s a strange artbook of sorts – the image on the cover is quite disturbing. You wonder why a little girl like her has one of these...

“I like this, it’s cool and scary.” The excited school girl says.
“Can I see it?” You ask politely.
Madotsuki nods and hands you the book. “Please be careful.”

It’s an artbook from a famous horror comic book artist, at least that’s what the description says. The images are more weird than scary, and you don’t believe yourself to be hard to scare. There are notes on some of the pages that, out of respect for Madotsuki, you didn’t thoughtfully look into. You wonder if Catastrovania would like this kind of thing. You know for sure Maggie would be scared… You hand the book back to the little girl.

“D-Do you like it? Uhm, that type of art I mean...” Madotsuki wants your opinion.

What do you respond?

>“Not a fan.”
>“I find it cool.”

“I find it cool.”
“R-Really?” Madotsuki is pleasantly surprised. You’re getting better at distinguishing emotions in people despite having their faces hidden. “D-Do you like horror? W-Would you like to read one of my books…?”
“Sure. I already enjoy watching horror movies.” Better than waiting and doing nothing.

“B-Books are kind of different though… For people I mean. I don’t know many people who like reading them...”
“It’s worth giving it a shot.”

Madotsuki digs again in her backpack but this time she’s having more trouble trying to find whatever she’s searching for. With her hands still inside, she turns her face to you…

“I-I only have some comic books here. Is that okay…?”
“Yes, it is. Don’t sweat it.”
“Cool!”

As soon as she pulls out one of her comic books, a doctor appears in the hallway approaching you two, his full attention on Madotsuki. He’s bald and has a weird mustache, he has a sleazy air to him...

“Ms. Demoniacal.” The untrustworthy looking doctor says. Madotsuki tightens her grip around her book and turns to the man, then she slowly puts back her little comic book into her bag as she looks down once again. Guess you won’t be reading anything now… “How’ve you been?”
“…” Madotsuki doesn’t respond.
“Still moody? Oh dear…” The doctor doesn’t seem to be very understanding but acts like he’s trying. “Did you forget again about what we discussed? You shouldn’t be here, you know there is no good reason to be here. I know your mother is worried about you.”

“…” Madotsuki looks even more uncomfortable. Hearing the word “mother” made her flinch for a second.
“So please, let’s go back outside.” The man grabs Madotsuki’s arm without her consent. She doesn’t do anything to fight it off though…

What do you do?

>Stay put. You came here to help Odetta! Heidi probably doesn’t want you to grab any attention here.

“Excuse me, she’s talking with me. Could you please leave her be for a minute?”
Madotsuki is turns to you with her eyes open wide. The bald man stops moving, his face shows bewilderment and annoyance, he didn’t think anyone else was here despite Madotsuki interacting with you the whole time. He turns to you…

“…Nobody should be here.” The annoyed bald man informs the law to you.
“I have permission. Let the girl go please.”
“Show me your credentials.” With the hand that isn’t holding Madotsuki, he taps on the card on his chest.

You stand up to him to the doctor, you’re a few inches taller. “Please let her go.”
“Fine.” He stops holding Madotsuki. She grabs her stuff and moves to your side without saying a word. “We’ll do it your way, I’m going to call security. They will be more than happy to do this than me.” He pulls out his phone with a sarcastic smile on his face.

(Disclaimer: I never specified here if criticals (=>95) and critical failures (=<5) are a thing. From now on they will be (outside of combat) and rolling the same number will count for something – which is the case here.)

You take out your phone and command the Crazy-Eyed Odetta Living Girl to attack the bald man’s phone! You’ll owe her one!

“Go forth.” You exclaim pointing your phone towards the old man.
“Huh?” The man looks confused. So does Madotsuki, but she doesn’t say anything.

Miraculously, a green beam comes out the electronic device, it flies through everywhere like a lightning bolt and lands on the other phone. The only thing you heard was Odetta going “WooooWoooo.”

For some reason you feel your understanding of the dark of the Mafuba getting slightly better… Not enough to level up though.

From the looks of it, the beam appeared to be completely invisible to the bald man – but you can tell Madotsuki saw something.

“…I should’ve called security from the beginning.” The creepy man laments. He turns his attention to his phone and… “What’s this?!”
“Na Na Na-nah! I’m a virus or something like that!” That’s Odetta’s voice coming from the bald man’s phone! You can feel her dancing. The man tries to push the screen. “W-Where are you touching you pervert! PERVERT! PERVERT!” She keeps repeating herself loudly.

“Ugh…!” The bald man furiously storms off as he points at you and exclaims: “This isn’t over, young man!” He trots off and you’re able to hear Odetta going off into the distance…

You’re here with Madotsuki now alone. She looks up to you mildly confused and grateful.

“I would like to know what’s going on if possible.” You turn to Madotsuki.
The little girl looks down in shame. “…I don’t want to be, uh- rude. But…”
“You don’t trust me enough, right?”

Madotsuki is sad. “I-It’s not like that…”
“I’ll ask some questions, you answer what you can or want to. Is that alright?”

Madotsuki nods. It’s an agreement now.

“Who was that doctor?” Let’s dispel these bad vibes first.
“I don’t know him that well. After I was… um- told not to come here anymore. I found him when I tried to trespass here and told me he wouldn’t get me in trouble if I did some, uh- stuff for him.”
“What stuff?”

“He wanted to talk with my mom, he acts very friendly but I don’t trust him…” Madotsuki frowns.
“Did he do anything else?”
“He likes to chat with me and bought me candy and stuff… I always turn him down. But that’s it… He’s annoying.”

“Is that seriously all?”
The small girl confirms it with a quick nod.

“Tell me his name just in case.” You didn’t read his credentials.
“Lester…”
“Good. Don’t worry, Madotsuki. You are not in trouble.”

You’re trying to calm her down, but Madotsuki still looks troubled – this is not something you can fix immediately, is it?

“I really just want to see my dad…” You can feel Madotsuki’s heartache. Should you do something?

You start hearing footsteps coming your way, the sounds are uneven and erratic. It’s probably Heidi, but the corridors are too dark to see anything.

What do you do?

“Hold on for a second, Madotsuki.”

In supersonic speed you text your team (to Maggie since she’s the one always paying attention to her phone) to keep an eye on this Lester guy, describing him to a tee and informing them there is a slight chance he has Odetta in his phone. You did it fast enough, Heidi is in front of you now after you finished sending it.

“Hello, Ms. Heidi.” Madotsuki is the first one to break the ice.
“Oh Maddie! Were you HERE before? I’m sorry, I didn’t notice! HOOPSIE!” A casual Heidi responds, but you notice a pinch of nervousness. “Were you two chatting?”
“Mhm! Um, Alfred likes horror too!” The elated Madotsuki confided.

“That makes us three then! HAHA!” Heidi rejoices.
“Heidi, is it too much to ask if we could help Madotsuki find her father?” You queried.

Madotsuki’s eyes are open wide and full of excitement, in contrast, Heidi looks petrified – again, you believe as it’s impossible for you to see her face. Heidi pantomimes you to come closer to her, as soon as you approach her – she grabs your arm and drags you further to the darkness and away from the little girl.

“W-What’s wrong?” You mouthed.
“Alfred, I didn’t make a mistake about you. You seem like a kind-HEARTED man. But…” Heidi looks depressed, yes, she looks depressed. You can tell even despite the mask. You’re worried…

“Mr. HARRY is dead. HE HAS been dead for weeks now.”
“I…”

“HE was a patient of this very hospital, a tough but sickly man who did everything he could to withstand his illness, but his body gave up on him. There was nothing we could do but slowly wait for the inevitable. A kind soul that loved his daughter.” Heidi conveys this heartbreaking information. “Maddie visited him almost every day, we quickly got accustomed to HAVING Maddie around, we knew it wasn’t going to last forever – but… even after HE died, she kept coming back. No matter what we say or what we do, she keeps coming back to find HARRY… She just can’t process it… HER mother can’t do anything either… So one of my superiors decided to ban HER from the establishment, pitiful piece of shit of a man he is. Now she instead sneaks in somehow, and we HAVE to deal with her over and over again. I love Maddie, but this can’t keep going...”

“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. Because I’m not telling you this for you to feel bad, I’m not the one who divulges this kind of information to HAVE a sob story to entertain people with. You promised the impossible to Maddie, and I want you to do deal with HER.”
“But…” Are you the right person to deal with this? You barely know the little girl!

“…If you don’t, I’m not going to HELP you find your friend.” That’s incredibly cruel from Heidi… “I just… don’t HAVE the HEART in me do this anymore…” Is she… crying…?

“Do you remember your dad’s room number?”
“Yup!” Madotsuki’s worries vanish.
“Take us there.” You turn to Heidi. “All of us. Heidi has the keys.”
“…” Heidi bows to acknowledge what you said, you’re banking on her having a master key of sorts. The little girl looks a little bit confused but goes along.

You and Madotsuki are walking side by side, she’s a little bit further front leading, while the medieval doctor is a few steps behind. All of you traversing the gloomy halls together, the empty corridors are as forgettable as they are sinister.

“You know, my father was my best friend too…” You disclose. Madotsuki tilts her head to look apprehensively at you. She doesn’t like where this is going. “I felt like he was the only person I could rely on.”
“Uh, same! My dad is a very cool dude with lots of sick stories!” Madotsuki is so happy talking about her father. “What kind of guy is yours?”

“He was a simple, calm and dependable man – one that enjoyed his routine. Probably wasn’t as cool as yours now that I think about it.”
“N-No shame in that!” Madotsuki believes that’s a tall order. You smirk back.
“Often people called him boring though.”
“That’s mean.”

“It never fazed him, I don’t think he minded – he embraced it sometimes. You never expect when that type of person can take a smile out of you, that was always fun.”
“But still…”
“You’re right.” You don’t want to tell Madotsuki you felt the same way all your life. “But he was a humble man working on his little store. Wouldn’t you think that’s kind of lame?”
“I-If he liked what he was doing, I don’t think it was lame… I-I don’t like when people judge someone like that, it’s not fair.”

“I agree, it wasn’t fair.” And you believe it still isn’t fair.
“So your dad was really cool too!”
“…Indeed he was.”

You arrive at the supposed room where Madotsuki’s father should be in. The door is closed. You ask politely to Heidi to open the door, as she got closer – you ask her not to go inside with you two. She acknowledges your request and after opening the door she walks away. Little Madotsuki was too focused on getting inside to notice your interaction together, she bursts inside the room and you follow.

The hospital room is empty, well unoccupied would be the better word…

“Where is dad…?” Those are the heartbroken words Madotsuki mumbles. She’s in disbelief…

“Seems as though he was moved.” Somehow, even after fucking up, you remain calm. “They move patients around a lot in hospitals, you know? I’m sure if we keep going through the building, we’ll find him.”
“O-Okay!” Madotsuki believes you immediately as she calms down again. “Where should we go first?”
“Let’s ask Heidi.” You open the door for Madotsuki to go outside with you.

You approach Heidi first and ask her where Madotsuki’s father is.

“Excuse me? I told he’s…” Heidi got confused for a second then she realizes what’s going on. “…probably somewhere else! But you didn’t listen! HAHA! L-Let’s go back to the reception and check my computer…”
“Sure. C’mon Madotsuki.” You are now the one leading the group.
“Mhm!” A naïve Madotsuki skips to your side. For some reason, you feel like you’re forgetting something…

If your memory serves you right, the reception is a long way from here. So you have some time to come up with a plan to deal with this, you probably need to find Odetta – she’s a psyche after all! A real one!

All of a sudden, your phone starts ringing. You pick it up.

“Assistant! It’s an emergency! You’re in grave danger!” It’s Catastrovania.
“What happened?” You don’t like the sound of this.
“Long story short! Margaret pickpocket the bald man’s phone to rescue the flimsy ghost, the fat oaf doesn’t know who of us did it so we split – I’m close to the real entrance and a bunch of thugs invaded the hospital! You need to escape ASAP!” What does your group understand as keeping an eye on someone that involves pickpocketing…?

“Thugs? What does that matter?”
“I-I think they are after us! They showed a pic of Maggie to the receptionist, and they are asking if someone saw her!”
“What do they look like…?”
“They have masks so I don’t know, there are two of them! Alfred, we need to get out!”

“Where are the others?”
“Before we split, I told Brucey boy to prepare the truck for our escape. Maggie ran off to find you! She’s not picking up her phone! What do we do?! Ngh… I knew this was dangerous…”

You need to think of something…

“What’s wrong?” Madotsuki is worried just by looking at you.

What do you do?!

You tell Catastrovania to leave with Bruce to safety or something, you’ll deal with Maggie yourself.

“A-Are you sure?” Catastrovania puts her acting down.
“Yeah.” You try to sound reliable, but you’re sure it comes out as monotonous.
“B-be careful…” Catastrovania hangs up.

It’s all up to you now.

“Heidi, I’m in mild trouble.” You inform the plague doctor.
“Explain.” Heidi mouthed.
“I need a private place, quickly.”
“I don’t HAVE to explain that your behavior is concerning. Right?” Heidi isn’t putting much trust into you.

“Is everything okay? What’s going on…?” Madotsuki is concerned.
“I have a friend in trouble. Two strangers are after her and they are potentially dangerous, I just need a quiet place to hide.” You explain to Heidi.
“I-It’s nothing, dear…” Heidi ignores you and addresses Madotsuki.

“I’m not joking, Heidi. I need your help.”
“Alfred, are you trying to escape some other commitment you HAVE…?” Heidi blurted with heavy sarcasm.
“We’re going to visit Madotsuki’s father, I give you my word – but this is an emergency.”

Heidi (you assume) stares at you intensely. “Let’s turn back to the last room, shall we? That’s private enough.”
“B-But…” Madotsuki is heartbroken again.
“Sure.” You responded, then you turn to Madotsuki. “Please be patient, I’ll take you to your father in a few minutes.”
“Uhm… Alright.” Madotsuki felt pressured to say yes. That’s not a good sign of trust…

While walking back to the room, you try multiple times to call Maggie’s phone – but despite your efforts, the calls just don’t connect. You’re within walking distance of the room, Madotsuki goes inside first then yourself.

Out of the blue, the door closes and gets lock. Heidi just locked you inside!

She got you there… Madotsuki sits on the bed and looks down at the floor.

“…We are not going to visit my dad, right?” Madotsuki painfully admits to herself.
“Please believe in me, Maddie.” You have nothing else going for yourself. You don’t want to disappoint Madotsuki for reasons unknown to you.

Suddenly you got a call! It’s Maggie!

“Allie, I’m in trouble…” Maggie is whispering.
“Tell me your situation.”
“The guards and two weirdos won’t let me like move around! I don’t think I’m close to the entrance. This place is spooky as fuck. Where are you?! We need to like get the fuck out!” Maggie sounds nervous as her voice rises. This isn’t good…

What do you do?

>Give Maggie the instructions to arrive to this room. Believe in Maggie!
>Tell Maggie to leave the establishment by herself. You’ll call the others to pick her up.
>Tell her to stay put. You’re going to tell Madotsuki the truth to leave this place to help her!
>Write In.

“Maggie, listen to me. You need to follow my directions…” You give Maggie your location and how to get here from the reception. “Also put Odetta on speaker on the other phone. One more thing, call me if you are in trouble.”
“R-Right, b-but Allie, I don’t know if I c-can—”

“Maggie, I believe in you.”
“…I’ll be right there, Allie.” Maggie hangs up.

You have no other option but to believe in Maggie! Your most trusted companion since the beginning of this ordeal. The one who swore to stab Aleister on the face. The one who is as reliable as regular glue…

Oh god help us all…

“I guess I’ll try to narrate what’s going on, Al! I know you missed my voice!” That’s Odetta, Maggie followed her first order correctly.

Despite all that, you have a bad feeling about this…

Sadly this is all we have for this thread! Thanks for Playing!
