Welcome to Young Justice: Meta Human Slave Quest

You are Joseph Mercer. From a young age you excelled academically, to the point where the school curriculum was often too easy for you, and ultimately as a preteen you skipped a few grades and went to high school early. You continued to excel, and even as an underage freshmen took advance courses such as AP Biology. Unfortunately, your nature as a Nerd and your relative youth compared to your classmates made it hard to make friends, and by your second year of high school at the age of fourteen you had ended up as a solitary wallflower. Feeling bad for yourself and with your self confidence at an all time low, you responded to a self help advertisement online. This proved to be a horrible mistake.

When you got to the address from the add you were kidnapped by Meta-human traffickers and experimented on, gaining the power to control and manipulate your flesh. You were then implanted with a control device and thrown into some sort of super villain school with a number of other kidnapped teenagers.

After spending some time at the school, you've found a group of friends, and started to learn to use your powers. You've also discovered a conspiracy to slowly brainwash you and the other students into willing servants of the HIVE.

When we left off you had been comforting your friend Caitlin, who had been reminded of her trauma with a Fatherbox after watching the Headmistress make an example of a student who attempted to escape. You had convinced her to open up, when the Head Bitch herself barged in on the two of you and demanded to know what it was you were doing.

“Talking” You reply as casually as you can. You haven’t done anything wrong, not really. Just be mostly honest and play it off and she might let it go. It’s like when you caught the attention of your upperclassmen and they’d try to mess with you. If you made a big deal about it they’d keep doing it. Just keep calm, act like nothing was going on and you weren’t worth it, and they’d move on.

Fuck, you really hope she’ll move on, although if you are honest with yourself you know that super villain school head bitches probably don’t work on the same principles as the son’s a bitches from high school. Still, it’s the best you got, so you play dumb like nothings going on. Just act natural. Nothing to see here. These are not the teenagers you are looking for.

…Dammit why couldn’t the meta gene have given you the force or something? Why won’t she stop staring at you, and why the hell hasn’t Caitlin let go? In every TV show you’ve ever seen when this sort of shit happens and two people who aren’t romantically involved get caught in a compromising position the girl immediately leaps away from the guy in embarrassment. She doesn’t cling tighter to him. Has television lied to you?

And the head bitch is still staring. Just staring. It’s creepy, and she totally doesn’t believe you. Fuck. Should you say something else? No, no she’s trying to make you sweat. You saw that on a cop show once, using silence to freak the perp out so they’d babble and provide information, or something like that. Volunteer nothing.

After an extended period where you all sit there quietly and no one moves the Headmistress raises one tweezed eyebrow and says “Talking?”

“Yeah, talking.” You tell her. “Waiting for Larson to show up. Personally I was wondering when the food he promised was going to be here, cause I’m kind of hungry.”

“And this ‘talking’ required Ms. Fairchild to sat in your lap.” The headmistress says it like it’s a statement, but clearly it’s a question.

Well shit, you really don't have a good explanation for that.
>>
>>3874845

“We were just talking honest.” You tell her. You aren’t even lying. “Nothing else happened.”

“For fuck’s sake Kane.” Larson pipes up from behind the head bitch. “So they’re cuddling, it’s not like we walked in on the Kid bending the girl over the pommel horse with their pants around their ankles. Now if you don’t mind I’ve got a lesson to teach, and we’re burning daylight.”

“You’ll find that I do mind, and I’ll thank you to keep a civil tongue and address me with the respect due to my station unless you’d like me to speak with the board regarding your conduct.” ‘Kane’ turns and snaps at your teacher before turning back towards you and Caitlin.

“I’m willing to overlook this once children.” She tells you with a frown on her face “but if I catch you like this again there will be repercussions, do you understand?”

You nod your head, because hell what else can you do, and Caitlin follows your lead and does the same, and the headmistress says “Good. Now, my purpose in coming here was actually to speak with Ms. Fairchild. If you wouldn’t mind separating yourselves so that I could do so please.”

Slowly Caitlin disentangles herself from you and stands up, allowing you to get up yourself, at which point the Headmistress looks at you and tells you “Go get warmed up with your teacher and prepare for your lesson, I’ll only need to speak with her for a moment.”

Larson jerks his head over indicating you should follow him, and you do, but you do your best to keep quiet and listen in, and you’re able to catch their conversation. Honestly the head bitch isn’t really trying to be quiet or discreet.

“Caitlin dear, I’m sorry you had to see that this morning.” She tells your friend. Her frown has melted away and has been replaced by a rather soft expression “I know that after your experience that must have been distressing. I wanted to make sure you were alright, and offer to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wax for you.”

“Thank you for your concern ma’am.” Caitlin replies with somewhat stilted politeness. “But I’m fine.”

“Dear you appear to have been crying, it doesn’t look like you’re fine.” The Headmistress replies with concern. If you didn’t know she was an evil nutter you’d honestly believe she cared, her tone was just that convincing.“To say nothing of the compromising position I found you in. While I understand it’s difficult attempting to avoid your emotional issues by indulging in carnal distractions is not a healthy response, and I think it really would be much better for you to get professional help.”

Caitlin’s jaw stiffens and she squares her shoulders, narrows her eyes, and glares down at the smaller woman. “With all due respect ma’am, you’re jumping to conclusions that I find frankly insulting. James is my friend. We talked. That was it. Despite whatever lurid fantasies you have running through your head nothing happened. I’m not that kind of girl. Furthermore as I have said I’m perfectly fine. I do not need professional help. I appreciate your concern, but there is no need to trouble yourself or Dr. Wax on my behalf.”

They stare at each other for a moment before the headmistress replies simply “Very well then, if that is how you feel, I won’t push.”

“Thank you Ma’am.” Caitlin replies with bared teeth better that can only barely be described as a smile rather than a threat display.

The smaller woman reciprocates with a polished stepford smile and then turns to leave, but not before looking over to you and Larson and saying “Have an excellent lesson.”

She then leaves. The room is quiet for a moment until the sound of her high heels clacking on the floor fades away and then the silence is broken by Larson saying . “Well don’t just stand there, limber up. We don’t have all day, so we’re going to get right into it. For you kid, practice fighting someone with super strength. And for the girl, a chance to learn how to fight shape shifters.”

Wait, wasn’t that just your cover? Is he actually going through with it? One look at the lopsided grin he casts your way and the amusement in his eyes and you know he’s serious. He has every intent to make you go through with the sparing, and he's going to enjoy it.

“Don’t worry about beating on him” He tells Caitlin. “Better he takes a few lumps from you in practice instead of getting his head kicked in during a real fight. In fact, thump him good.”

“Wow feeling the love Sir.” You tell him “I’m touched by your concern for my well being. Do I not get any advice? Admonishments to do my best and not hold back?”

Larson laughs and says “Sure kid, give it your all or she’ll tie you into a pretzel.”
>>
>>3874848

“Shouldn’t we prepare or establish rules,or something.” Caitlin asks while biting her lip and glancing over at you. “Go to the dojo we use for the martial arts class, or somewhere with a proper ring and padding?”

Larson snorts then gestures around the room. “We don’t have a proper ring, but it’s not like real fights happen in a ring anyway. Best get used to fighting with plenty of obstacles. Feel free to get creative actually, use your environment. Don’t worry about breaking anything either, it’s not mine and this place has a budget. As for rules or preparations, how often do you think you’re going to get in a fight with someone who will let you sit down and hash out rules before trying to pound your face in? Now, I’m going to count you down. When I hit one you start.”

“Ten” He says as he begins to move off to the side of the room.

Well shit, this is happening

“Nine” He says as he moves farther out of the way.

Shit, nine seconds left, you need a plan.

What do?

>Shift into big guy while he’s counting and then rush Caitlin. No sense waiting. Like he said there aren’t rules in the real world, maybe you can catch her by surprise.

>This is ridiculous, no way. Hell no. Try to talk your way out. Stall and avoid Caitlin while doing so.

>Look around and try to find something in your surroundings you can use to your advantage.

>Shift into combat form. We wont be able to beat her with strength so lets play to speed and an unconventional form which would make leveraging her strength difficult. Pump biomass into out legs for jumping and speed. Maybe develop bone exoskeleton over our fist and forearm so our strikes will be worth a dam. We should also aim to just knock her off balance. Target her legs and knock her down as often as possible, it is infeasible to harm a brute style cape like her. We should play to our versatility

>>Look around and try to find something in your surroundings you can use to your advantage.
>>
>>3874866
Actually, this sounds pretty good. Speed, agility and creative shifting were what stopped us getting creamed in our first fight after developed powers. Probably worth trying again.
>>
>>3874849

>Look around and try to find something in your surroundings you can use to your advantage

Hopefully Mercer can find something then have the option to use that advantage right away or later in the fight.
>>
>>3874866
Supporting.
Should be good trainning for both of them.

An idea for future: We may want to try developing some kind of deployable whip like muscle from our arms, something we can keep in use aiding our human physiology muscles when we don't need them, but otherwise would be useful for extending reach and allowing greater movement for us. Since changing our body takes time and biomass, a simpler way to keep common useful mutations available for short notice is to make them an alternative mode for current biology.
>>
>>3874866
You want to make a whole new Form, on the fly, and use it right away? Weren't we told not to do that specific thing?
>>
Yeah, but remember this is a training exercise and the first of several spars. This would be a good time to explore our powers and unlock a new form like when we got the tenticles fighting that first guy when we unlocked our powers. Unlike in a straight up fight we can afford to fail (But learn) in this case then get shit on in a real fight because we were unwilling to take risks when we were training.
>>
>>3874909
It's not really on the fly we used something like it when we fought mammoth (and we did ok) we don't even need to use a different body type just make our legs better
>>
>>3874927
>>3874909
Yeah, it's the mammoth fight I was thinking of too. If we could survive him then we should be able to handle ourselves pretty well against the much less experienced Caitlin.
>>
>>3874866
Support

Maybe we can eye surroundings a bit while transforming if it doesn't take too much focus. Might also be a good idea to back away to leave yourself more reaction time. I don't think we are going to hit first, are we?
>>
>>3874866
Going for an agility form sounds fine, but wasn't bone exoskeleton and the like something that was offered as a training option, and as such is assumedly isn't something we can just do off the cuff?
>>
>>3875435
Yes i think thats what won the vote.

Hey E-16 how long was the timeskip?
>>
>>3875446
Wasn't it a week-ish, just as a little test time skip?
>>
>>3875435
So just don't bother with the bone exoskeliton? So we are all agreed on pumping up our legs for speed and backing up a bit to get some more space before the fight. Anyone else have anymore suggestions. I just feel like we are lacking offensive options
>>
>>3875476
It was a few weeks, but not quite a month, if memory serves

>>3875636
The issue is that with strength and durability types like Caitlin, unless you yourself are a strength type, if you want to be able to injure them you've got to be willing to use something with piercing or slashing power, neither of which is suitable for a nonlethal sparring session. We could form some talons for example, velociraptor style, to make use of our newly optimized leg muscles, but we want to fight her, not slash her to ribbons. Maybe just try to rely on the strength of our optimized leg muscles and hit her with some solid kicks? Aim for easy knockouts, like a hit on the chin or the side of the head, maybe soften her up with a kidney shot or the like to give us an opening.
>>
>>3875664
Since we're training, I think everyone would be okay with us making dull claw-like toenail things, and we just say they're going to be claws in a real fight.
>>
Vote will be closing in a bit, I've got something I need to d first but I'll be back later to close the vote and update. Call it an hour or so.

Regarding the bone armor, or flesh whips, or talons and spikes or whatever else you want to do. You can absolutely attempt them, you just won't have had any practice. You'll be flying by the seat of your pants. It will be hard, and it won't be as effective as it could potentially be in the future, but you could absolutely attempt it if you wished to do so. You can do whatever you want/feel is best. Please dont feel limited. Trying new things and getting creative makes the quest fun, and even if it doesn't neccesarily work perfectly it's a learning experience and a chance to stretch your boundaries and get a feel for what you want to work on going forward in order to progress.

If that doesn't make sense let me know and I can clarify.

I'll answer all questions once I get home and settle in to write.
>>
>>3875664
>>3875674
Can't the fatherbox heal any wounds from our sparring session?
>>
>>3875687
Well yeah, but it hurts when they heal you, and Caitlin's got a phobia of them.
>>
>>3875683
I think we should not go for full bone armor. Rather just create crude plates over the fist and feet to give our strikes a bit more umph. We lack the practice to go full body, bu I would like to do some experimentation.
>>
If we're going a big legged "speed mode" then plates would just be extra weight. I like the plates, but I think they'd be better on Big Guy mode. Also, do we want to make special names for the forms, or nah?
>>
>>3875706

If we made a girl mode, would we be allowed to sleep in the girl's dorms?

Is that a worm thing? I think that's worm terminology, although I'm not too certain. I've never actually read worm desu, but I hear good things from a buddy of mine.
Sorry for the late response. So listen I shit you not, I got home, grabbed my laptop, and laid out on the couch to get writing, and then I fell asleep at the keyboard. Honestly I can't say I'm terribly surprised. I'm still hella tired and in retrospect laying out on the couch was a bad idea. A really really tempting comfy idea, but I really should have seen the nap coming. I've basically been kept standing and cognizant by stimulants all day after how late I was up last night, and it looks like they finally wore off. I'll be honest, I'm still really tired now even after a few hours nap. I'll see if the creative juices flow, but if not I might head off to bed and come back to writing in the morning when I'm not feeling so sleep deprived and my head isn't as foggy. We shall see, but I shall keep you all in the loop if I'm going to be headed off to la la land so no one stays up expecting an update that isn't coming.

Yeah its a worm power classification. I'll give you a link to the different classifications so you can have a look. Basically the government in that universe said fuck it lets try to standardise powers despite the fact that powers are completely random and inherently difficult to standardise. Basically powers get classified based on how they are used and the threat level posed (Not power level, don't make that mistake). For example Alexandria (Similar powerset to superman) has a power which locks her body in stasis. Essentially her body is locked in time but free in space, thus making her both invulnerable and the immovable object. Hookwolf is a villain that is capable of changing his body into a car sized object of metal blades and hooks. Both are considered brutes due to the way they fight and not necessarily how similar there powers are.
Yeah, you should totally get into worm. Very realistic and grim dark, with a realistic take on cape politics and the consequences of there actions. Not to mention there is a metric shitton of good fan fiction out there for it (also a lot of bad)

>>3876122
A lot of my friends are into Worm, but also say to never get into it, because it gets too grim dark and edgy.

Depends, sort does but thats only for the bad writers. There are plenty of deep characters that are not edge lords like miss militia, legend, or assault. I would encourage you to have a look first and then make your mind up

The only thing I have against worm is how insanely Grimdark it is and how much the writer hates his own creations as well as loves to watch them suffer(he literally even admits it at one point). I mean holy shit you would think he hates writing with how much he shits on his own creations. I'm not necessarily against grimdark but holy shit at least cut your own creations a break every once in a while for fuck's sake. This is coming from an anon who also likes fucking with the characters during writing but at least I give them a fighting chance no matter how small. If only so I can see how hard they fail or if they surprise me.

Worms basically the warhammer 40k of the superhero genre. The sooner you acknowledge this the sooner you learn to love the pain.
>>
>>3876336
So who are the Ork equivalent?
>>
>>3876343
Not based on Tolkien fantasy. When I say its the 40k of the cape genre, I'm more talking about how 40k is the grimdark setting of the space oprah genre. Worm is the grim dark setting of the superhero genre. Between the end bringers, golden morning and just normal horrible people you just would not want to live there in general. Starts off street level and shit just escalates from there

Hey E-16. How’s it going?
>>
>>3874849

“Eight” Larson says as he continues his countdown and you start to shift biomass to your legs.

You remember your “fight” with mammoth quite clearly. Only reason you made it out of that in more or less one piece was how well you’d played keep-away. Caitlin probably wont be trying to fuck you up, not like mammoth would have, but you’ve seen her lift a tank over her head. She doesn’t have to try and fuck you up. Larson's told you that trying to go head to head with super strong meta’s is a fool's game, and you agree. So you break down some of the densely packed muscle mass in your upper body and redistribute it to your legs, bulking up your thighs and calves as quickly as you can, and get ready to play keep-away again.

With all the practice Larson has put you through you’re much faster at shifting proteins around and building up muscle than you had been. Even if you hadn’t specifically practiced bulking up your legs it only takes two, maybe three seconds for the changes to occur. As you are now no one would ever suggest that you skipped leg day. Actually considering how hyper developed your legs are now compared to your upper body they might suggest you start cutting leg day.

As you finish up your changes Larson’s still counting down. You glance over at him and see that he’s staring at you intently as he’s counting and he’s not grinning anymore. He’s actually frowning a bit as he eyes your legs. You kinda wonder why such a simple shift killed his mood, but you don’t really have time to worry about that, since he’s still counting down.

You’re ready to play keep-away now, but you’ll never win if all you do is run. You’ll need to fight back, but how? When Larson coached you about this sort of thing he talked about making use of talons and venom and striking from unusual angles by exceeding or bypassing the limits of the human bodies physical structure through shifting. Underhanded tricks you could use to level the playing field against opponents that would turn you into a red smear on the ground if you tried to square up and trade blows with them.
>>
>>3877697

Thing is most of the methods he encouraged you to use are brutal, and frankly dangerous. Potentially lethal even. You don’t want to actually hurt Caitlin. She’s your friend. You aren’t going to carve her up like a thanksgiving turkey or poison her, but you’ve got to do something.
You can’t just punch her as you are. If you do that you’re pretty sure you’re going to hurt yourself worse than you’d hurt her, but you have an idea for how to reinforce yourself so that you can hit her harder. Hopefully without breaking anything.

Stripping excess material from elsewhere in your body you feed collagen, calcium, and other nutrients into your metacarpals. You build them up until they’ve gotten big enough to stretch the skin on the back of your hand uncomfortably and then you split the flesh to allow them passage and continue to grow the bone. Taking inspiration from your vague understanding of boxing gloves you fuse the bones into an armored plate the extends over your knuckles and extend it back to fuse it into your radius and ulna. You bulk them up as well. It would be stupid to protect your knuckles and then hit so hard you broke your wrist. It inhibits your range of motion, but you’ve now got a pair of hardened battering rams at the end of your arms you hope will be enough to get some good hits in on Caitlin.

Thinking back to your “interpersonal relations” lessons with Sensei you apply the same concept to your legs as well, since he’s had you learning to kick. You bulk up your tibia and grow and develop it until it too forms a bone armor plate that extends past the skin.

Armed now with a bony pair of gauntlets and greaves you feel pretty prepared, which is good because you got so caught up in controlling and shaping the growth that you’d failed to pay attention to Larson’s countdown, and right as you finish up with your legs he calls out “one” and Caitlin jumps at you.
>>
>>3877702

Her hair trails behind her like a banner flapping in the wind as she leaps towards you, rapidly crossing the room in a single bound. You just manage to avoid her by throwing yourself forward and to the side and rolling out of the way because she jumped to high and the split second of hang time at the top of her arc gave you an opportunity to react. You can only assume she pushed off too hard, or at the wrong angle. If she'd come straight at you like Mammoth had you might not have been able to dodge.

You let the momentum of your roll carry you to your feet like you were taught and spin to face her. She’s darted in towards you again and lashes out with jab.

Shoving off with the powerful new muscles you’ve built up in your legs you sidestep her fist and move in to retaliate with a cross counter. Your fist crashes into her face and you feel the recoil reverberate up through your arm and chest as if you just smacked a brick wall.

Fortunately, the bone plate holds. Mostly. There’s some cracks, but you intentionally limited the nerves in the armor. It doesn't hurt, not badly, and you’re able to force it to re-knit and repair itself.

Dropping back to get ready for the next pass you glance at Caitlin's face where you hit her. There’s a bit of discoloration, but there aren’t any abrasions. You haven’t broken her skin at all, and she seems completely unphased.

Her hands come back up and she starts shuffling towards you.

What do?

>Maintain the course. Stick it out and trust in your ability to dodge and strike back.

>Disengage, back off and look for something you can use in the room or try to tire her out.

>Escalate. If she can shrug off your hits then she only has to get lucky once and you have to dodge every single time, you need a more stopping power.

Can we develop some hoves under the soles of our feet, or some kind of hardened structure. It would give our Thicc legs some extra stopping power

Dammit guys. We're a smart guy, can we try to act like it. Given how unphased Cait was by our first punch it seems pretty obvious that getting into a simple slugging match - even if we throw all our biomass into it - is a bad idea.
Just look at Larson's face he clearly disapproves.

Also, doing anything too exotic with our powers, if it even works, with expose our potential tricks to anyone watching.

Oh shit, hey Eig welcome back!

How does she have so many dice
>>
>>3878003
She is super strong, and a straight forward power. She has just been getting power dice while training, we've been working on forms, because our power is more complex.
>>
>>3878004
It probably doesn't help that we didn't use an "established" form
>>
>>3877887
I still don't understand why it's so suspicious. Any decent shapeshipter (without a specialization, like Beast Boy) can alter it's form to non-human shapes, we just "happen to be one a little shittier and easier to control" (because we need biomass to change, like any other shapeshifter with the decency of following the laws of biology). I doubt that Larson suddenly discovered that we are a Biokinetic just by staring ot a minor change. Let's be realistic, even if he is a master in the field, any Hive scientist with a little experience with shapeshifting Metahumans would know too. If they knew, we would be in a reinforced bullshit can, being brainwashed by someone competent (Any, and I mean ANY villain or criminal organization would literally murder to get their hands on a Biokinetic of our potential).

>>
>>3877887
If they knew the true potential of our power we wouldn't be in class with other students. Instead, we would be getting max brainwash while being stuffed full of biological knowledge/fed samples of all kinds while being guarded in the most secret facility they got with the strongest they can offer. They just think we are a lousy shapeshifter but detail oriented whose reliant on biomass to transform. Its why anons have refused to use any other abilities that would so much as a hint we aren't just a shapeshifter. Even Larson just thinks we are just a shapeshifter and not a manipulator/biomancer.

If they so much as suspected what we really are we would be beyond fucked. Our powerset is beyond valuable. Since we don't get any special treatment it's clear they got no idea still.

Alright, so I've got something I need to attend to at 5 in the morning tomorrow, so I'm headed off to bed early tonight. I'd hoped to be able to write something out at work so we'd have something today, but twas a busy afternoon and sadly I wasn't able to scribble on my legal pad much.

That being said I don't have plans for tomorrow evening or afternoon since my usual arrangements have fallen through, and I don't much feel like going out on the town by myself, so after I deal with my business in the morning I'm thinking I'll have a relaxing day in and do some writing.

So no update tonight, but there will be at least one tomorrow.

>>3878003

What it honestly comes down to is a lot of power dice. She won't scale like you will, and her powers are far less versatile, but they are rather strong and quite suited to direct confrontation.

If you feel somewhat put upon that you are at a disadvantage please consider that you can theoretically match her dice using nerd along with your powers, which would give you a pool of 8d6 as well, so it's not like she's hitting numbers that are beyond your reach.

I apologize if the roll was frustrating. I understand that feeling like things are stacked against you and you're doomed from the start is not a pleasant feeling. If you feel that I am being unreasonable I am willing to discuss the issue in more depth. If you feel that there is a flaw in how things are being handled I am willing to listen, as I recognize that I am not perfect. I cannot promise I will ultimately agree with you, but I will listen.
>>
>>3878724
Nah, it's okay. We have a bullshit power, we get put in bullshit situations. You made that clear at the beginning. Sometimes a one sided battle can be fun, because of the story implications of losing. I don't think anyone here wants to be a Mary Sue that curb stomps everything.
>>
>>3878724
>>3878735
>I don't think anyone here wants to be a Mary Sue that curb stomps everything.

Completely agree. Too many of the qsts here just slide into complete power fantasy territory where the MC can never lose. I like a challenge.
>>
>>3878724
I’ll agree with the other anons, things being like this are fine. Our ability is more of a slow buildup over time as we widen it’s width and depth, so to speak, whereas hers is basically already as good as it’s going to get, barring some presumed moderate increase in strength due to muscle training and practiced technique. It’s natural she’d be able to beat us early on, when we’ve barely got any practice with, or accumulated knowledge of, our powers.
>>
>>3878724
Nah I don't mind. I know our power is a slow growth high potential kind. Plus we are facing her in a straight up fight which is a terrible idea with her powerset. We actually kinda deserve to get our asses kicked if we don't come up with a good plan. Hell even if we had more biomass and mutations to work with. We would still be going up against a Metagenes for strength.

>>3879011
Technically she can still grow stronger with Super tier exercise, training, and she can still unlock her psi potential. It's just she doesn't have an easy time in terms of improvement. So she hasn't hit her cap. She won't even hit her strength cap until her body can no longer endure the strain but that's assuming she can find a way to reach that point. Combat training meanwhile is obvious. Psi is going to be trickiest it can offer the biggest direct powerup right away but that requires finding out how to unlock it.
>>
>>3879074
Oh yeah, no, she can definitely get stronger. Like I said earlier, having actual fighting technique will definitely help her out a lot, and proper conditioning would probably help her further increase her strength, I just meant more that there’s a bunch of other different uses for our powers we’ve yet to unlock, whereas she can mostly just build on what she’s already got. I completely forgot about the psychic potential though. We’ll definitely need to see if we can find a way to unlock it later on. Preferably nothing overly traumatic though, she’s in a precarious enough spot as is, mentally speaking.

How much spare biomass do we have? And can we dislodge it from ourselves?
Caitlin is a pure powerhouse, and we can't compete with that toe to toe as we are, but even if she's got super strength it means nothing if she can't use it properly: latching on balls of the stickiest, most spongy flesh we can produce on her can potentially bring her down hard. USE THAT NERD DICE BABY
You can't really deliver proper punches and kicks if you can't find a good footing to create that momentum, and you'll tire yourself out much quicker if you have to strain just to move around properly.
Something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28vz5_z8kro
But toned down, obviously we don't have the mass for so many balls. yet

So...I just finished reading House of X and I realized that Mercer can potentially do all the shit Krakoa does, but way better. We could literally become a living heaven to Metahumans (add a little civ to the quest if we want, but nothing too complex) and have an avatar of sorts to play our regular adventures. That would give us a way to get "extra lives" in a realistic way. We could have a limit to our clone-spawning process using the "hastly made clones end up fucked up like Bizarro" theme that comics tend to use : building a normal human body takes a few hours (respawn at lvl 1 with all our knowledge), but we need to get used to the new avatar (get a malus to rolls for X days), spend a week to get a lvl 10 avatar, etc. It would be a mid game achievement (unless we create a smaller version early on to get one or two extra lives) and would only serve as a way to explain how we got a extremely secure (try to get inside the body of a Biokinetic without his permission. Good, now try to get out), self-sufficient (photosinthesis and chemistry, son!), movile utopia in a few years (we could get a HUGE boost to our rolls and dice pools while inside our "Krakoa" form, but outside of it, we would only get minor boosts like secure telepathic comms with the island (like a phone but impossible to intercept or spy on without our knowledge), resistence to mindreading/brainwashing, maybe a way to refill our biomass reserves through a small portal inside our body, eliminating the need of eating an entire slaughterhouse every day. It would also act as a giant FUCK YOU to every law in the world, because there is no law that prohibits you from swimming around the ocean (international waters) carrying your friends in your back. This project would take years to be even feasible (we would need powerful psionics, a WAY better control and understanding of our powers and to make absurd advances in biology, chemistry, bioengeneering, architecture, etc), but if we manage to pull it...well we become both king and kingdom, also one of the big players an earth. And if no one wants to come inside us (bad pun totally intended), we could always go full Horatio from endless space...or maybe not. Better not.
>>
>>3880940
Chimera would be a good name for us. An eldritch mish mash of parts. It could work hero or villain.
>>
>>3881101
I was thinking more of turning our "main body" into our superhero/antihero/villain base (island/archipelago/small country form, depending on how much time an effort we invest) with specially crafted biological structures that act as an ecosistem (a forest to get food and other resources by growing plants on our back, a desalinization plant to get fresh water, a series of cave sistems to house cities, etc). We could always grow over a preexisting island and mine it for resources. That way, we could have different forms to different tasks like swimming, flying, digging... and keeping our human appearence for diplomacy and missions, also to not detach from our humanity and go full EGO from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
About the name...we'll decide once we get out of here. I'm fond of Ouroboros for the whole cycle of life, death and renewal (with change and progression added). Also to have a bitching dragon eating it's own tail as our cape symbol.
>>
>>3881926
>become a whole island of life

>>
>>3881926

>>
>>3882006
Plants and trees do not require that much care. Also I'm talking about genetically engeneered superplants with metahumans like Ralph taking care of them (remember, it's supposed to be a place for metahumans to live in peace. We won't be the only one taking care of it, just the guy with the master control for all the island's functions).
>>

I'd like to start by apologizing for disappearing. Honestly I dont really have an excuse. Couldn't work up the motivation Saturday. Happens to me sometimes. Got a buddy who is studying to be psychologist that tells me he thinks I should get checked out but fuck that shit I function mostly fine and they can't fix anything anyway. Then I had things to do sunday, and by Monday I was being a little bitch because I didn't want to show my face after ghosting you all like that.

I've honestly been considering whether or not I really can run this. Because I want to, but my life is kinda crazy and I am admittedly a flakey bastard with poor communication skills and some emotional issues that get in the way sometimes. I feel bad stringing you all on and making you wait when I dont have my shit together.

I want to continue, and if you all can accept that I'll honestly probably keep doing this shit I will, but I understand that a lack of consistency is probably irritating as fuck and makes it hard to play because you dont know what to expect or when to expect it. It's not a good experience to wait for an update and have it not show, and for things to pop up out of nowhere when you aren't expecting them and cause you to miss out.

If I had decided to quit I would have told you, and I decided not to quit, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it and I figure you all deserve to know that and what we're getting in to if you choose to stick around and go forward.

I'm busy tonight and I have to be up early in the morning tomorrow, so the update won't be today. If you still want to play expect it later tomorrow.

Literally every QM constantly thinks about quitting. Anyway seeing a councilor might not hurt or aim for ways to better take care of yourself. Like growing stuff or passive sources of income can help. Mostly by meaning there is less shit you have to run around for in order to handle yourself.

Watching Caitlin shuffle towards you carefully closing the distance between you in preparation for her next attack without so much as a scratch on her after you gave her your best shot right on the kisser you realize very quickly that slugging it out is a loosing proposition. If you let her close again, odds are it’s going to end badly. You need to create some space and figure something out. Maybe find something in the room you can use to your advantage.

Keeping an eye on Cait you start to shuffle backwards. You don’t turn and run, turning your back on her would be incredibly stupid even you know that, so you back away as best you can and you glance around the room as you do so looking for something that can help you. In order to keep her from cornering you you start to angle yourself and circle. She’s still pushing you back, and eventually you’ll run out of room to run in, but hopefully you can find something to use to your advantage before then.

Sadly there isn’t a whole lot in the classroom. Exercise and gymnastic equipment mostly, along with the computer set up and a few other odds and ends. Still, after a moment you formulate a plan. It’s quite simple really, Larson never said you have to stay in the room. If you can distract her long enough to get out then you can try and shake her or set up an ambush if you can’t get away entirely. All you have to do is obstruct her movement and make her hesitate long enough to make your get away.

Step one, slow her down. You slide over to the gymnastics equipment and then heave the pommel horse onto the ground in front of her. She can go over it of course, or through it maybe, but hopefully it can buy you a split second.

With the obstacle hopefully impeding her ability to pursue you dash towards the weight rack and grab a few good sized kettle bells. Looking over your shoulder you see that she’s gotten around the overturned pommel horse and is nearly on top of you, so you enact part two of the plan, make her hesitate.

You swing the kettle bells around and pitch them at her head. While you’re fairly certain it won’t hurt her too bad, hopefully the sight of large metal weights flying towards her face will give her pause long enough for you to get away.

With no time to waste you cut to the side of her and sprint towards the door. With as fast as you are you only need a second or two to get away. As long as she flinches you’re home free.

She doesn’t.

With a snarl she brings her forearms up to shield her face and bulls through the flying weights and then springs at you like a hunting cat slamming into you and riding you to the ground. She mounts your torso pinning you between her thighs and reaches up to grab your arms

what do?

Combine the two.

How quickly can we grow ourselves some hedgehog-style spines? They're just evolved body hair so I'd assume that's something with could do pretty simply on the fly.
If we can do that fast then that's my vote. A fraction of a second space from Caitlin jerking back might be all we need to get the advantage in the grapple.

Okay, this is pretty bad. She’s got you trapped under her. There’s no way your going to be able to buck her off or wrestle your way out of this. You know that, you aren’t stupid. Honestly all she has to do is just clinch up and pin you down properly and you’d be absolutely screwed.

But fortunately for you she hasn’t done that. You aren’t sure if she’s just forgotten everything Sensei beat into you about ground work, or if she’s just too embarrassed to get that close and press herself up against you. She’s sitting over you in the mount position, but rather than resting her weight on you she has her butt up in the air leaving a gap between her hips and yours. Her knees are in tight to your chest, but with her sitting up like that her control of your torso is actually pretty poor, and so is her balance.

Because of this when she leans forward to try and grab at your arms she tips over and falls forward nearly shoving her pelvis into your face in the process before barely catching herself with her arms.

As she falls you yank your arms in towards your chest and therefore out of the way of her hands, and you see an opportunity to escape. You’ll never throw her off, but as it is you can probably just slide out from between her legs. You’ll need to do this quickly though. You don’t have time to slowly shimmy your way out. You need to get out from under her fast. That means you’re going to have to really shove yourself away from her as hard as you can. You gotta have good purchase for your hands to push that hard though, and you can really only think of one place to put em to get that kind of purchase.

With no time to reconsider before Caitlin recovers her balance and you end up stuck between her thighs with no way you out you push your hands between her legs through the gap between the two of you, and reach up to press your palms against her ass.
>>
>>3888476

In a movement similar to a mechanic underneath a car grabbing onto the bottom of the door or the edge of the undercarriage to pull themselves out from beneath the automobile you grab onto Caitlin’s undercarriage, say a silent prayer in your head she won’t kill you for this after the fact, and then heave as hard as you can.

She eeps as your hands make contact and goes stiff, moving not an inch as you push as hard as you can against her posterior, and since she isn’t moving you do. You start to shoot out from between her legs. Realizing what’s happening as you slide out from under her Caitlin start’s to move again, tightening the grip of her knees against your rib cage in an effort to hold you in place and keep you from moving.

Thinking fast you exhale all the air in your lungs and then use your powers to compress your own rib cage, making the bones denser and shorter and reducing the circumference of your chest. It lets you keep sliding, but you realize you are going to have another problem once her knees get to your shoulders, which will be too wide to pass through the gap as they are.

Desperate, and with no other ideas you disconnect your clavicles, rearranging them on the fly so that they are free floating like those of a cat. It hurts, you can feel the bones pressing against organs and tearing some of your soft tissues where you aren’t fast enough to split them or move them out of the way with your powers. You have to manually control your heart beat for a split second when one of your clavicles gets pressed against it as it’s pushed into your torso, but you squeeze out from between her legs and slide across the floor a few feet creating space between you and Caitlin.

Rolling your shoulders back you reconnect your clavicles and repair the tissue damage before breathing deep to re-inflate your lungs as you expand your rib cage, then you plant your hands and push yourself up to your feet

What do?

>Run. You can’t fight her without getting a lot rougher than you’re comfortable with and you may have just pissed her off

>Keep your distance, be ready for the next attack, and apologize while you’re at it because you really didn’t mean to cop a feel you just needed to get out from between her legs.

>Reengage and go on the offensive. You’ve been reacting to her maybe making her react to you will work better.

>Appeal to Larson to stop this since it’s pretty clear it isn’t going anywhere, and this whole damn thing was just a cover in the first place

And grab an unloaded barbell as we charge in. Maybe a 2m metal quarterstaff will be what we need to even the odds.

I still think spraying blood from our mouth/eyes is the best strat. Obscuring her vision like that neatly side-steps her powers and give us the upper hand we need without hurting her. The organs involved wouldn't be too much harder to grow than an octopus's suckers and we managed those on day 1.

I'd point out only two of those three things happened. Technically she caught herself before she fell on us, so there was no contact between our face and her crotch.

I'd also point out that a bit of wrestling hardly ruins her for anyone else. If I was obligated to marry every women I had wrestled with I'd have more wives than a saudi sheik has women in his harem.

>>3888533

Anon let's not rush. Sure she seems like best girl at the moment but keep in mind we've had more development with her since we've been focused on her for a bit. We will be having focus segments on Liz and Tara and Roxy as well in the future where you'll have opportunities to learn more about them and develop those relationships as well. I'd reccomend waiting until you've had the opportunity to properly weigh all of your options after getting all of the information before you make any decisions.

Also, please note that even if you do all decide to pursue one of them romantically they won't just instantly reciprocate and hop on your dick. Nothing worse in my opinion than "I'm suddenly in love with you take me now". Romance plotlines need time to develop in my opinion. Yeah a slag might jump on your dick right away, but none of these girls are slags. Wooing them will have to be done right.

Point is you've got time, no need to hardlock right now. To quote a buddy of mine who plays dating sims, and forgive me if I get this wrong cause I've never touched one of those before, explore the different routes set some flags.

Voting is still open. Voting will close in about three hours. If you have any questions please ask. Hope you are all doing well.

At the moment it's looking like reengage is the winning option barring an upset in the next two hours.

With that being the case how would you like to reengage? It's a bit vague, so I'd like to hear from you all how you want to go about it.

We've had one anon suggest trying to get a weapon to use, and another anon suggesting you blind her by using your powers. The suggestion for a sleep inducing compound is there as well, though it's a bit of a stretch. Of course you can always just bo with a classic and try to hit her. It's been pretty well established you all don't want to go for anything sharp.

Feel free to discuss how you want to attack.

This is all going in really interesting ways. Anons, please continue to resist the urge to pick a waifu although I am totally okay with hot redheaded amazons with thighs that can pulverize concrete until the story is well and truly underway.

Caitlin is our friend, and she respects our strength in at least some way. She may need a confidence boost, but she's not going to get that if James plays possum; if she wins, but it isn't a win she's fully convinced she has earned, it'll feel like an insult. I think that, more than mere confidence, Caitlin needs two things:
1. To feel like she's still strong after letting down her guard like she did, and
2. To know that James also isn't going to just turn into a puddle of dead goo the instant she gets a little serious in a fight.

We actually do need to amp this combat up a notch or two. I don't think we'll actually be able to damage her unless we use poison or something, so let's take this opportunity to see how far we can push the physical shit we know so far.

...I'm interested in the pilebunker fists option mentioned earlier. Can we do that?
>>
>>3888887
I'm still pushing for a weapon and a bit of friendly blinding.

Like I said before, we need a way to get around her strength and physical invulnerability ... obscuring her vision should do this.

And I don't get all the concerns about "revealing the true extent of our power". There's nothing particularly sophisticated about building up some extra muscle around our eyes or salivary glands and squeezing some blood out. Its a simple adaptation used in the animal kingdom same as an octopuses suckers.
>>

>I personally don't think that we should do anything like that until we actually have had poison or venom "analyzed/eaten" blood is just not something you squirt at your friends during training
Why would we need to analyse it? Blood is blood, we've got 5 L of the stuff floating through every organ of our body.

Manufacturing THC or PGE2 might be a bit beyond our ability to do on the fly but this is simple and creative. We need to fight smart if we want to provide Caitlin any sort of challenge.

>>
>>3890936
Awesome!
>>
>>3888487

Now standing, you turn and see that Caitlin has been slower to regain her footing than you were and is still getting her feet under her and rising from the ground.

Sensing an opportunity you step in and go on the offensive. You’ve let her chase you around and dictate the pace this entire fight and that just isn’t going to cut it. It’s time you take control and set the pace. As you step up you chamber your left leg and then lash out with your armored shin taking advantage of her vulnerable position to kick her in the face.

You don’t feel anything give. There isn’t the crunch of cartilage or bone giving way and as you pull back to plant your feet and regain your balance you don’t see any blood, but the redhead does reel back when you strike her. It’s the first real reaction you’ve gotten to any of your attacks this entire fight, and it feels pretty good.

Pressing your advantage you wind up and kick again. If it worked once it should work again right? No. This time she gets an arm up in the way to intercept it and then grabs at you after your leg bounces off her guard. You just barely pull back your leg in time to keep her from grabbing hold of you as she reaches for your extended limb.

Spooked you step back out of her reach and she takes the opportunity to scramble up to her feet. The difference in your reach is a problem. She’s taller than you. That makes it hard for you to safely hit her, but you can fix that.

You give ground staying out of her reach and you use your power to start to build up your bones and expand your muscles, assuming the now familiar shape and stature of your larger form. A form which has even Caitlin’s impressive reach beat.

Now able to strike from outside her range you start to jab at her. Quick lightning fast punches intended more to keep her occupied and block her line of sight than to do any real damage that you use to buy yourself time and keep her from getting any closer to you.

And for a while it works. You jab at her and dance away staying just outside of her reach. Every time she raises her arms to stop your fist she looses sight of you for a split second, and that lets you reposition and get ready to do it again. You aren’t really hurting her, but you are keeping her at bay.
>>
>>3891278

And then suddenly you aren’t as she bull rushes past your fist taking the blow to close distance between the two of you and get inside your reach. Rather than immediately strike at you she reaches for you, clearly intending to grab hold of you and keep you in place so that you won’t be able to avoid her any more.

You panic. If she gets hold of you it’s done plain and simple. You aren’t strong enough to fight her off or push her away. You need to keep her from grabbing you, but you can’t possibly get out of the way in time. She has you dead to rights. And then, you have an idea. A desperate idea.

Taking inspiration from the horned lizard you use your power to rapidly divert blood to the salivary glands under your tongue, gorging them with it until they are almost painfully swollen. Then, you open your mouth, press the tip of your tongue against the back of your front teeth, and violently contract the muscles surrounding your salivary glands forcing the blood out of them in a spray of crimson liquid that hit’s Caitlin right in the face.

Standing point blank in front of you she has no time to react or get out of the way as the hot liquid splatters her in the eyes. She shrieks and jerks her eyes shut as she jumps back away from you, effectively blinded.

What do?

>Take advantage of her being blinded to knock her feet out from under her. Even if she’s super strong that doesn’t necessarily help her balance and if you can put her on her back it’ll improve your odds.

>Take advantage of her being blinded to go and grab something you can use as a weapon, like the specially reinforced Barbell Larson has on the weight set over in the corner.

>Take advantage of her being blinded to run and escape. You’ve only been prolonging the inevitable, and you may have pissed her off in the process. Best give her some space and let her cool down a bit.

Jellyfish toxins on arms
>>
>>3892452
so cells with inbuilt harpoons that activate with touch that inject fluids and we could replace our hair follicles with it and have needle hair on our arms that can shoot out

>>3892452
>and whats the current ideas for the escape lets line them up
I don't think we have a clear idea yet but if we're spitballing ideas for possible short-to-medium term adaptations.

>Jellyfish toxins on arms
And we can choose specific poisons for specific scenarios
Need someone disabled? Paralytic neurotoxins and sedatives
Need someone dead immediately? Cyanide compounds
Need someone dead after we've had time to leave the scene? Ricin
Need someone just a little confused or not as alert as usual? Narcotics and hallucinogens
Need someone relaxed? Sodium thiopental and pheromones
With microscopic nematocysts (or simply sweating DMSO-laced toxins onto our skin) we could easily deliver poisons without any pain or evidence - cue lethal handshakes
And injection isn't the only delivery method - topical agents could be sprayed across a room with a jet from our salivary glands, inhalational toxins could be released in our body odour.

Poisons really are a fantastic option for us as they can provide a tremendous effect without requiring much biomass.
Biomass is a pretty major limiter for us at this stage as we'll soon hit a cap with how much we can increase our density and even making our muscles as efficient as possible we're not (yet) able to compete with the metahuman strength of supers like Caitlin. Poisons only require a few milligrams to do the job.

Other ideas might include
>Bone blades. We're relying on blunt tissue damage in this fight because Caitlin is our friend but we really should start to practice quickly growing blades on our striking surfaces. I'm talking shifting our fists or knees into bladed battering rams of solid keratin as we throw a punch, growing porcupine quills from our skin the instant some bruiser tries to grapple us, swiping through the air with razor-sharp cat claws (would also help with climbing).
>Biological armour styled on a crocodile or a pangolin. We want to be sure any tranquiliser darts or tazer barbs will bounce right off.
>Develop some sweet-ass tinted eyelids and a cut-off valve for the inner ear so we don't get blinded or thrown off-balance by flashbangs (or other explosives).
>Electrocytes a la the electric eel. Form them on our fists etc taze people with a punch or a grapple
>Get some practice being shot or cut. With our ability to immediately and specifically target any damaged blood vessels death by blood loss is almost a non-issue. You'd need a lot of firepower to overcome our healing factor, at least once we're more practiced
>Play with the elasticity and recoil of our various muscles, tendons and ligaments. Many animals are able to load a tremendous amount of tension into their limbs before firing them like a spring. Combine this with superefficient muscles and we could easily be jumping cars or punching through concrete walls.
>Build up our circulating volume of blood and increase its oxygen carrying capacity so we need less of it (and can lose more of it before worrying).
>>
>>3892536
how would you feel about
>muscles in our veins at key points that can close up if we experience dismemberment and close the circulatory loop so our blood can continue pumping
>fixing the wear and tear problems on the spines discs and vertebrae without compromising the rotating and flex because if we do the force we use to walk not channeled properly would make us spin
>we need to do something about our heels they take extreme amounts of stress.
>animals that walk on 4 limbs use there forelegs to dampen the kinetic force by converting the kinetic energy into thermal energy using the muscles

Taking advantage of the redheads blindness you move in close and then drop and sweep your leg forward scything her feet out from under her. No matter how strong she is that doesn’t matter if she’s standing straight up and down with her feet close together like she is. Her center of gravity is too high and her connection to the ground too tenuous to stop you from knocking her over onto her back

She falls over squawking and windmilling her arms, nearly clipping you with her hand as she tries and fails to keep herself from falling. Sensei had taken some time to show you how to fall properly but Caitlin doesn’t seem to have retained any of it as she catches her self with stiff arms. Were she any less durable she would have broken her wrists for sure. As it is the force of the impact jolts up her body and causes some interesting jiggling, but her bones hold.

She ends up on her butt with her legs sprawled out and her arms thrown back behind her holding up her torso, kind of like she was getting ready to crab-walk and had only planted her hands and not her feet.

She’s still got her eyes squeezed shut, so you follow up by kicking at the nearer arm and knocking her all the way to the ground. Her head bounces off of the concrete with a thunk. You wince a bit, but she survived beating her head on the ground repeatedly during her seizure without a concussion somehow, that little bump probably won’t have actually hurt her.

The problem you realize as she starts to blink blood out of her eyes, is that despite having successfully gotten her onto her back you don’t know what to do at this point, and if you don’t do something she isn’t going to stay on her back for long.
>>
>>3895634

As she starts to push her self up and you contemplate whether or not you can get away with kicking her arms out from under her again or if she’ll be expecting it your thoughts are interrupted by a shrill whistle.

“Alright I’ve seen enough.” Larson shouts at you from the side of the room. “That’s enough, cut it out.”

You freeze, and then turn and look over at him. He’s leaning back against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest and a small frown still on his face. Sitting next to him is a cart loaded with biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausages, waffles, and bacon, all of which is lightly steaming.

“You two grab something to eat and then we’ll discuss the fight.” He tells you as he inclines his head towards the cart. “Take your time, I need to go get a few more teaching aids for today’s lesson in light of your performances so I’ll be a minute. There’s a jug of water and some towels inside the cart if you wanna clean up a bit.”

He starts to walk away, then pauses in the doorway and turns back to give you a lopsided grin and says “No hankey pankey while I’m gone kid.”

With that parting shot he leaves you in the room. Alone. With Caitlin. Who you had just been fighting. And who you had blinded with your own blood. And who you had maybe sorta kinda groped a bit by accident in a strictly non sexual fashion.

Fuck.

What do?

>Ignore it. It’s not awkward if you don’t make a big deal of it right? Just act like nothing happened and go get something to eat. Ask her if she want’s waffles or biscuits and just fucking ignore everything. If she’s unhappy with you she’ll let you know right?

>Deny any wrongdoing on your part preemptively. It was a fight and she had been trying to hit you too, you can’t be blamed for defending yourself and shit happens in a fight. If you can prove you aren't guilty she can't stay mad at you.

>Apologize. The blood thing was gross and even if you were just trying to get free and these sort of things happen when you wrestle you did kind of grab her ass. It's possible she may not even be mad, but you still feel bad and want to apologize.

>Write in.

Yeah I'm sorry anon. Workout went long and then I got called into work a bit early. I should have said something, and I'm sorry I didn't communicate.

Yay! Update, offer the girl a towel

Don't preemptively apologise but do ask her if she's alright and say that we hope we didn't go too hard. Once she confirms she's done with it all then complement her on almost taking us to pound town and maybe crack a couple of jokes.

>"Gross stuff aside, it was kinda fun?"
Hey, we are going to be fighting capes from now on, any experience we can get without risk of death is welcome.
Also, I know we are playing as a 14 year old socially stunted virgin but I'd be more comfortable if we all anons pretend to be regular, well-behaved, emotionally stable adults.

I can get behind this.

The best way to deal with the awkwardness is to let her bring it up if she feels the need to.

Hey anons just giving you a heads up. Been working on the update off and on here at work when I have a minute between things I need to do. Making some pretty good progress but theres a bit more to be done. Once I get off work I have something to take care of, but when I get home I should be able to finish this up and get it posted. Call it maybe 4 hours from now or so, and I'll let you know if there are any delays.

I love you.

Our biggest problem in terms of our powers is the fact we still haven't unlocked some of the key primary abilities of our power. An obvious one of which is we cannot extend our power beyond our own body. Another example until we unlock plant manipulation we have to rely upon Ralph and get him into our plan SOONER rather than later. He can do all the shit we can do with our power but specialized in plants. He can literally grow a boat or a submarine for our escape or he can create super oxygen fixing plants if we decide to burrow a tunnel to freedom underneath the seafloor. Like us though he needs time to prep.

The other problem is biomass. We haven't unlocked DNA manipulation so we stuck eating whatever mutations we wanna absorb directly. As for ideas. Bats, bugs, and seafood we could gain a LOT from eating some of them.

So you hate roleplaying? I mean...come on what are you even doing here? Its not even out of character.

Oh no, I'm sure sperging out at the slightest contact with a woman must be absolutely hilarious, Big Bang Theory is the greatest sitcom ever for a reason. Is just that, y'know, it isn't all that funny when actual people do it, and it gets old really fast?
>>
Home, working on it, need a bit more time. Just letting you know since we're coming up on the four hour mark not to worry if it doesn't go up right away. I'm pretty nearly done I think.

Right, I'm going to come back to this in the morning. Thought I had it, then looked at it again during the rereading to make sure there weren't spelling errors or whatnot I had missed and the dialogue was hella stilted and awkward, so I had to scrap a bit and rethink things.

Many apologies for the delay.

If it's in character I can't say much since technically the QM/writer is sticking to the script as they should. Complaining about something like that sets a bad precedent. There are plenty of times when I have disagreed with character actions but because it was IN CHARACTER I shut up about it. The moment you throw away in character actions you might as well trash the entire story and gameplay since 'lol it doesn't matter'. Technically they would be correct since at that point rules are no longer worth a damn since the thing they are supposed to enforce is now trash.

Are there different ways to go about it in character actions yes. Some are obviously more preferable than others but here is the thing. Technically its ALL in character. People will always disagree about which is preferable and then later bitch about the consequences of it no matter what. Ultimately the only thing that truly matters is it a legitimate action according to the character and setting or it's bullshit and shits all over the entire premise.

If you wanna complain about something at least make sure it's legit bullshit. Otherwise your just raising up problems that really don't exist.

here have a better version

Right so I'm an idiot and when I headed to work today I forgot to bring my notepad that I do the writups on.

So I'll keep thinking about it and maybe scribble some stuff out on a new notepad, but the update will be delayed to this evening since I'm missing what I've already written. Sorry.
>>
>>3897940
Appreciate the updates bro.
>>
Man I hardly got anything done in this thread did I? I'm sorry about that anons. My life is crazy at the moment. It'll be less crazy after December but for the next month and a bit I'm going to be in silly season and things will be slow but after that it should hopefully pick up.

It pains me to do so considering how little there is in this one, but with how close we are to falling off I suppose it's about time to start a new thread. What do you all think anons, try to eek out a bit more in this one or just start fresh?

>>3897597

Thank you for that anon.
>>
>>3899004
I think we should have like a day or two before this drops, so maybe do one more update and start next thread with the timeskip?
>>
>>3899033
This should work, but also whatever Eig wants is law and correct
>>
>>3899033

This seems reasonable if we can swing it. One maybe two updates and then timeskip if we can. Just a moment and we will have our update. Still polishing. I much prefer writing fight scenes to human interaction. It's easier. But, if you never push yourself you never grow, so might as well get used to it I suppose.
>>
Happy Halloween, hope you all had a better one than I did. Sorry for the delay. Quest is not abandoned.

R.I.P in pieces.
>>
>>3901693

As I said I haven't abandoned the quest. I know I haven't posted anything significant in days and it feels pretty damn dead, but I do intend to continue first thing tomorrow.

I'm sorry I've not been as active as you or I would like. As I said I'm kind of stupid busy from now until mid december. Got a lot going on. If the schedule of updates is too sporadic and slow, which I would totally understand, we could hiatus if you all would prefer that and then pick up when I'm not quite so busy. That way you won't have to wait and wonder, but I'll be honest I would prefer to have a thread up even if my posts are sporadic just because having it up helps motivate me to write and post. But if you all believe the extended periods between posts are detrimental to the quest as a whole and would prefer it we can go on hiatus.
>>
>>3903411
On page 10 start a new thread when you do and link it here.
>>
>>3903411
Nah mate, keep doing what you're doing.
I really enjoy this quest and your writing, I'd rather sporadic updates than no updates. Just keep us informed with the eta and it's all good.

That said, probably not worth starting a new thread unless you have an update to start it with.
>>
No hiatus, just update/new thread when you can
