Previous threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gun+x+GloryThe year is 2030, and competitive gaming is a worldwide phenomenon. The world has come far from the days where professional gaming is stigmatized, stadiums erected in the name of physical sports soon being re-purposed into stadiums for competitive games. From high-octane first-person shooters to intense rhythm games – everything is accepted in this world where games reign supreme. And you, Wolfgang O’Neal, have just secured your first win on a professional stage in five years.Your vision remains dark as your mind is unplugged from Warscape, the sudden temperature whiplash taking you off guard. Gone is the sun within the game, instead replaced by the chill of the stage – you can only imagine how long it would take to adjust to that weird feeling, considering temperature wasn’t a factor in the game five years ago. Next, your sense of touch – the stiffness of your neck and back within the console, mainly. Is this what professional players have to deal with nowadays? You recall the skirmishes with 0phelia and Cinder at your arcade, and with those you had snapped right back with no issue…right now you feel physically exhausted from having to play in this machine.A second later, the helmet removes itself, and you look up at the gigantic screen that’s on display – you can make out the words displayed across it, the large letters reminding you of the feat you had accomplished.>MATCH DECIDED!>n0v4_c43s4r def. RockA part of you is still shell-shocked by the battle, and the other part feels strangely liberated. You had publicly gone out of your way to prove Rock’s assumptions wrong, and by doing so, you’ve done it to everyone else who said you couldn’t play without cheats. As you begin to sit up, something occurs to you.The arena is cheering, and they’re cheering loudly. Before you can fully process this, the announcer from earlier appears out of the corner of your eye – he all but yanks you out of the console, making you stagger as he tugs you to center stage with little regard to your current state.“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE BATTLE HAS BEEN DECIDED! HERE IS YOUR WINNER…NOVA!”To your surprise, the crowd is going fucking bananas. Huh, and they were so opposed to you when you walked in. Neat. How do you proceed?>Scan the crowd for familiar faces whilst you attempt to reorient yourself – you’d like to make sure that 0phelia is still there and not planning to ambush you later.>Tear your arm away from the man and walk off the stage and towards the other room – you don’t want all this attention right now, and you have a friend waiting.>Ease yourself out of his grip and walk over to Rock’s console – you want the satisfaction of being able to look him in the eye and say that he was wrong.>Stay where you’re standing and prepare to be interviewed like you’ve never been interviewed before.>Other.

Rock’s helmet is off, and he’s staring into the sky with a thoughtful expression…in all of the past experiences you’ve had with him, he’s either been incredibly angry or completely blank. You’d describe his expression as almost strangely…serene, in a way. When he eventually registers that you’re there, his eyes slowly move to meet yours.“…yes?” His voice has a strange quality to it, one you can’t exactly identify…one thing you do know is that you’ve never heard it come out of his mouth before.>Be polite and extend a hand to help him out of the console – there’s no reason to incur bad favor with everyone else in the crowd, and he did drive you to the venue.>Immediately ask him the questions that you’re owed – he’s already paid off all the damage to your arcade, and with this he can get out of your life for good.>Lord your win over him – he did all of this shit to you, all to be proven wrong in the final stretch. You bet your ass you’re going to hold this over him, if only for personal satisfaction.>Other.

>>3875881(So I am incredibly tired at the moment, and I just wanted to get this thread off the ground before I go to sleep. So I’m going to go and do that! Thank you very much for reading this, and I hope you’ve had a good time doing so – last thread was wild. Please give me feedback, questions, or even some compliments – I want to make this quest as good as I can so everyone enjoys it. Have a great night, anons, and I’ll see you in the morning!)You let out a sigh and extend your hand to the large man – you lose nothing by being cordial with him, especially on stage in front of a large amount of people who are literally judging your every move. You’ve dealt with enough blistering hatred to last you an entire lifetime, after all!Rock looks down at your hand, then back at you, and then back to your hand. He raises his own to take yours, and you attempt to help him out of the console – unfortunately he’s a very big dude so you don’t help all that much, but it’s the thought that counts, after all!“OHHHHHH! A SHOW OF FRIENDSHIP BY NOVA!? WHAT A SURPRISING MANUEVER!”You want to clobber the announcer over the head for at least the third time today, but you repress it as Rock looks down at you. The height difference between you two is staggering – he’s at least a head and a half taller than you, and you come up to about his chest when standing normally like this.“…I still intend to honor what I proposed, I can see the doubt in your eyes.” Shit, was your suspicious look that obvious? He had already paid off the damages, but you had a slight fear of him just denying everything else with physical violence? He’s already going to the clink, so there wouldn’t exactly be a lot for him to lose on that part. “However…could you please give me a few hours? I need to make peace with a few things on my own.”Huh, out of everything you expected him to say, you…didn’t expect that. You analyze his expression – you had expected a healthy amount of anger, and upon finding none you’re…well, you’re fucking weirded out, honestly.>”Uh, yeah, sure. Would you like to meet up somewhere?” You see no issue in allowing the matter to rest for a few hours, especially when he’s acting this oddly.>”No, sorry. We made an agreement, and you’re fulfilling it right now.” You want this to be over with, so you’ll get what you need and then send him off to avoid further confrontation.>”I just want to hear you say that you were wrong. Rock might have been an asshole but that doesn't mean we gotta be. Plus if 0phelia was behind this then we've both been played. Might as well give him what he didn't give us. A hand. Also here's hoping he doesn't off himself because he has no support.

Would you like to meet up somewhere later, then?” You wipe the other vaguely condescending answers you had been considering from your mind, looking into the man’s eyes. With how Rock is acting now, you find it a little hard to muster up the anger that you had brought into this fight originally – his face has shifted from serenity to one that seems to be a mixture of reflection and looking like a kicked dog. You think you can make out a hint of relief in his eyes as he opens his mouth to respond.“Yes, that would be preferable. I have your contact information, so I’ll message you when I’m ready to speak. Do you have a ride home?” He asks you, already beginning to step away towards the off-stage area he had emerged from. You idly notice that his hands are clenched, despite the lack of malice in his eyes.“Yeah, I think so…if not, I can always call a taxi.” You shrug your shoulders as you respond to him.“Then I’ll see you later, Nova.” He turns away from you curtly, and just as he’s about to walk away, you feel a need spring up in you – the need to reciprocate competitive etiquette like he had shown you earlier. You’ve already decided to be polite to him, so what’s the point in not going the little extra mile?“Hey, Rock. Before you go, I have something to say.”“Yes?” He looks over his shoulder at you with a raised eyebrow.“Good game.”He pauses for a moment, unsure of what to say. After a moment, he raises a fist in your direction.“Good game.” His voice is solemn as he responds to you.>Accept the fist bump.>Do not accept the fist bump.>Other.>Also roll a 1d20 with your choice to perceive something.

>>3876366You smile at him and raise your hand to reciprocate the fist bump, all while keeping your eye on his other hand. You never know what it could hold, or when a sudden clothesline could occur! Fortunately, it seems he’s not hiding anything, it stays stock still at his side as your fists touch together. As you expected, however, a metric fuckton of camera flashes go off as soon as this exchange happens. The announcer sounds like he’s going to have a heart attack, and to save your thoughts from the unfathomable drivel that he’s saying, you decide to ignore his screeching and to instead exchange a nod with Rock. He lowers his extended arm and walks away without another word, despite the announcer’s best attempts to flag him down for some “closing words”. When this fails, he rounds on you before you can get away, dragging you again to the center of the stage. You look out to the cheering crowd and squint to see past the stage lights, your eyes trailing up to the very back in order to find one specific person – you want to make sure she’s not going to pull you into a room and threaten you into being on her team, after all – and you find her sitting exactly where she was when you went into the game.0phelia appears to be sitting calmly while everyone around her is still losing their shit, her hands politely folded over her lap as she observes the stage. Due to the distance, you can’t exactly make out too many details – the only reason you can see her hands is because of the contrast to her dark clothes – but she must have seen you looking, as she raises a hand up in a dainty little wave.God, you will have words with her at some point. VERY STRONG AND HARSH WORDS. Oh well, you’ve at least ruined her advantage over you – her whole plea for you joining her team was to restore your quiet life, and now that you’ve done this whole shebang, you can safely assume that those days might be in the past.“NOVA, LAD! DO YOU HAVE ANY PARTING WORDS FOR US, AS THIS EVENT NEEDS TO CONTINUE FORTH?” The announcer shatters your introspection. Well, do you?>Yes, you do have some things you’d like to say! Those competitive machines are like deathtraps compared to the ones you have at your arcade!” She roughly pats your shoulders with both hands, causing you to wince, and continues. “But putting the teasing aside – yeah, I’d say you looked pretty badass! The crowd was electric nearly from the start, and I’m pretty sure they shit themselves when you did that crazy gun trick! I’m betting there’s plenty of videos of people watching and losing their shit online, we should give them a watch later!” Damn, you’re a bit surprised at that revelation, but you feel pretty good about it! It’s always nice having a horde of rabid gamers not totally hate you, considering how long that the opposite was the case. Also, hey, she’s not that bad at getting the tension out of your shoulders! You have no doubt that she’s done this for other players before, considering how often she plays in solo tournaments – most likely another standard of etiquette. “And what’d you think of it, huh?” You teasingly ask her, to which she barks out a short laugh, coughing afterwards.“Well, judging by how much my throat hurts, I’m pretty sure I was right along with them in screaming my head off!” Aw, that’s nice.“Well, I’m glad I managed to put on a good show. Thanks a lot for the guns, by the way.”“No problem, they were chump change anyways. I'm more interested in where you got those grenades! We should probably bail, though! I got berated by one of the staff working here for lingering and not being a player in any of the events, and she’ll probably get even more mad if I’m still around when the tournament starts!” “Why didn’t she just…kick you out?”“I’m incredibly persistent!”You know what, that tracks. You’re fairly certain she’ll take that olive branch, and you hear her pause in the middle of her sentence…and just when you think she’s about to take it, Cinder decides to pipe up with the biggest shit-eating grin.“Drinks sound great, yeah!” She calls to you from her perch across the four chairs, making sure that Alexis would be able to hear her. You stare at her with empty eyes – Alexis and Cinder got along well, but they both loved to get each other’s goat occasionally. “Are we going to do anything about her?” Cinder asks, reaching up and placing a hand on your shoulder. You contemplate for a moment but shake your head.“Not today. Tonight, we’re going to celebrate. Hey, you ever watch Fletcher?” You swiftly change the subject, beginning to dial his old cellphone number from memory into your phone.“Yeah – he’s stopped doing team stuff, though. Sometimes you’ll see him pop up in minor solo tournaments, but he sort of vanished from the spotlight after Genesys disbanded when you left.” Cinder recites, walking behind you with her hands in her pockets. You can’t help but flinch at that – you didn’t need the reminder that he up and dissolved the entire team when you disappeared.“Well, tonight you get to party with him. He’s the one who got me those grenades, and he gave me a major pep talk, not to mention the day of training…I feel like it would be rude not to invite him along.” You press the call button, raising the phone to your ear as you see Cinder clap and hop in place.“Awesome! Turns out I’ve been secretly friends with Nova for years, and now I get to meet Fletcher? I’m a pretty lucky girl! I wonder when I’ll get to meet the rest of you lot!” She throws her head back and laughs, wincing a moment later when she realizes that her stomach is still injured. You smile solemnly – she never will as long as you’re still around.“Hello?” You hear Fletcher’s deep voice through the receiver, the wind blowing in the background. You can make out that he’s panting a little bit, and you raise an eyebrow. “May I ask who is calling?”“Hey, Alex. It’s Wolfgang.” You feel your throat tighten a bit, suddenly a little nervous about talking to him. In the game, it’s one thing…but real life? It’s, fittingly, more real to you that way.“Oh! Apologies, I didn’t recognize the number, it only makes sense that you got a new one. Have you left the arena?” “Not yet, I’m on the way out, though.”“In that case, stay put. I’m running back over – I’d like to see you in person, if that’s okay.”You turn a corner and can make out the din of the lobby – it’s definitely louder than when you walked in, although that would only make sense.“Of course – that’s why I wanted to call you, actually. Me and a few friends are going out for drinks as a celebration…a-any chance you’d like to tag along?” You curse the hesitation in your voice, and you can’t help but feel a little worried about the answer – based on his recent actions you have no reason to be worried, but isn’t anxiety just a bitch?Fortunately, Fletcher dashes those worries in a second.“I’d love to. We need to catch up, after all. Talk soon, keep an eye out for me.”“Y-Yeah!”He hangs up, and you let out a relieved sigh.Fletcher seems to be exactly how he used to be, both in game and out.>Roll a 1d20 to perceive something – best of three win.

You look around the room, and while there was no shortage of people when you walked in earlier, now it’s as packed as a tin of sardines. Now there are televisions strung up from the ceiling, displaying the feed from the stage area – currently there are two people who are in a pressured sword fight in some sort of forest area. You don’t recognize either of the players, but they must be somewhat decent considering they’re able to keep each other on relatively easy ground. As you continue to watch them, you feel a curious sensation on the back of your neck – like someone’s watching you. Cinder’s moved so that she’s standing next to you, so it can’t be her…you turn your head to look into one of the crowds of people, yet you can’t find anyone who’s particularly paying attention to you at the current moment.“Something wrong, Wolfgang?” Cinder looks up from her phone at you – you can make out that she’s looking through some recent news articles – and you shrug your shoulders.“Felt like someone was watching me is all.” She snickers and jabs you in the side with her elbow.“Wouldn’t surprise me if they were, considering the performance you put on!” You go to respond to her jest, but you feel your stomach rumble loudly before you can complete the thought – you’re still very hungry. The loss of a potential breakfast bucket wounds your soul in a very bad way, but you know that you’ll have to press on, so you bury it deep down and make your way towards the entrance to the building. On the way there, you spot quite a few people looking your way – at this point there’s no way in hell that anyone in here wouldn’t recognize you – but none approach. You suppose that you prefer it that way – all you want right now is to find Fletcher and then spend some time celebrating with close friends. >>3877886You bring out your phone again as you scan through the parking lot, intending on dialing Fletcher’s number once more. You really don’t understand why he didn’t just take his car to the arcade, but there are a lot of things you don’t understand about him – he’s always been a guy that, for lack of a better term, does things his own way. A source of major contention in the old team was because of Fletcher doing things his own way, going behind the coach’s back and changing up strategies just before matches…and honestly, things always worked out better when Fletcher was at the head.Regardless of old fond memories, you call him again and shiver as the wind picks up slightly – you’re going to need to buy a new jacket for the winter, since you think it’s going to be a rough one this year. Fletcher picks up immediately, and you can hear him chuckle.“Wolfgang, I’m almost there. Still as impatient as ever, I see?” You furrow your brow at the phone – of course you’re impatient, it’s fucking cold out! “Entering the parking lot now…and I think I see you.”He ends the call, and you look around to spot your old captain – and hey, there he is, weaving between a few cars and jogging over to you.Fletcher in real life looks not so different from how he used to, yet it still gives you pause. Somehow, he’s grown even taller than he was before, still towering over you five years later. His black hair used to be spiked up, but in this occasion, he’s opted to keep it neatly combed, and a pair of glasses now rests upon his flushed face. You ask yourself again why the fuck he decided to jog over to an arcade! His love for beige apparently had bled out of the game somewhat, as he has a relatively warm looking jacket of that color adorned. He looks…well, he looks a lot more grown up than he did before. It would make sense, considering he’s four years older than you, but still! Also, he doesn’t look to have any food with him. >>3877919You nudge Cinder with your elbow as Fletcher approaches, to which she jumps and puts her phone back in her pocket, looking up at you with a grin. You pay her no mind, instead turning to your former captain and looking him directly in the eye, quelling your initial nervousness. He slows down as he approaches, curious as to what’s prompted this intense stare down from you.“Food.” You state solemnly, moving off the wall and clapping him on the shoulder. “Take me to it, Alex.”He pauses and gives you a good long look before a jovial smile crosses his face, wrapping an arm around your shoulders as Cinder rushes up to the two of you.“Sounds good to me. And who might this be?” Fletcher looks up to regard Cinder, a friendly look in his eyes. Her grin grows as she pops a hand up in a mock salute.“Name’s Cinder!” She says to him, patting you on the back. “I’m this guy’s moral support, basically!”That isn’t entirely untrue, you’ve felt a lot better about certain things with Cinder around. Going through rough times is always just a little bit easier with a pal alongside you, and she’s done quite a bit of sticking around whilst you go through this whole process…but you wish she wouldn’t say stuff like that out loud. It’s embarrassing!“Well, I’m glad to hear he hasn’t been entirely reclusive since he left.” Fletcher begins to lead the both of you through the parking lot, glancing down at you occasionally.“What’s up, is there something on my face?” You find yourself asking him, because it’s not like he was being subtle about his glances – you aren’t that unaware of things!“Don’t worry about it. It’s just good to see you again.” He looks away from you with a chuckle. That…sounded a bit suspicious, you’ll admit. Maybe it’s just how things have been over the past week, but you’ve really started to pay attention to how people speak…or you could be overthinking, you guess. Shit’s been crazy, man!>Roll me a 1d20 to perceive something. Best of three wins.

>>3877938(Sorry for the wait, making some food!)As you walk with both Cinder and Fletcher, a certain sensation comes over you once more. The sensation of being watched! This is starting to get a little bit ridiculous, you think. If someone’s decided to watch you so intensely, why can’t they just…walk up and talk to you? You don’t know who’s doing it, but they’re fucking creepy, desu. You aren’t about it. You try to locate the perpetrator YET AGAIN but find nothing.Oh well, it could be nothing. You decide to forget about this venture, because you’re with friends! Friends are good, friends are safe. You see Fletcher fish out his car keys from his jacket pocket and unlock a car in the distance – a fairly nice-looking black car that looks well taken care of. Cinder whistles at the sight, impressed by it. He’s definitely upgraded from the rusty hunk of junk he had five years ago, that’s for certain.“Do you have a place in mind?” Fletcher asks, walking around and entering the driver’s seat. You and Cinder have a moment’s stare off in an attempt to wage mental war for the passenger’s seat, but you end up taking it because you’re hungry and you want to get on with this whole celebration business.“There’s a bar back near my arcade that me and my landlord frequent…I’m guessing you’ve seen my address online too, so I’m sure you know the general area.” You say to him, sliding in and pulling out your phone to text Alexis where you’re going. Cinder gets in the back and proceeds to lay across the back seats, something that Fletcher apparently doesn’t take issue with.“Guilty as charged.” Fletcher admits without hesitation, starting up the car and reversing out of the parking spot. Your phone buzzes as you receive a response from Alexis.>See you in a bit, prodigyyyyy. I’m looking forward to finally putting a dent in your finances!Oh, Alexis. You never knew Aidan was into that sort of music. And his name IS Aidan, not Alex. You’re such a buffoon, forgetting your own captain’s name for a short period of time. Maybe that’s why he was looking at you weird, perhaps. Because you forgot his fucking name! You’re ashamed of yourself, but you let it slide, because you know Fletcher’s a forgiving man. You know he won’t look down on you for such a silly mistake. He’s a good one, that Fletcher.“So, uh…what have you been up to for the past five years, Aidan?” You hesitantly ask him, to which he looks over at you as he makes a turn. You’re not quite sure how to initiate conversation with him, because you still feel pretty bad about vanishing for a few years? You’re still shocked that he’s gone out of his way so much for you.“Not a lot. After the team dissolved, we all went out separate ways. I still play in the solo scene, Buster and Drifter went off to join other teams, and as I said earlier, Orange also disappeared off the face of the planet. Other than that, things have been going well, though. I’ve made enough money to live comfortably, I got this new car and a new apartment…so I can’t say it’s been all bad. Have you burned through your money yet?”“No, I’ve been living fairly frugal.” You shrug at him, happy that he’s still been able to make a living despite not being in the spotlight anymore. A real shame about Orange, though. You wonder what’s been up with that dude. He was a real quiet fella. “I still have a lot of savings, and my landlord really doesn’t charge too much for rent – she’s the only reason I was able to start that arcade at that age.”“Sounds like a nice lady. Will she be attending our little get-together as well?” He asks, pulling up at a red light.“Yeah – I already forgot to tell her about my match, if I didn’t invite her to this I think she might just evict me.”“Well, the more the merrier, right? I’m glad to hear you’ve been able to make it on your own.”“If there’s anything I can call myself, it’s resourceful!” You joke, nudging him with your elbow.“The jury’s still out on that one.” He responds. You both share a laugh.>Text Alexis a witty response as you relax into the comfy car seat.>Text 0phelia some put-downs about her match, assuming it hasn’t started already.>Text Rock where you’re going to be for the next few hours, just so he’s aware of where to meet you.>Ask Cinder about any news articles mentioning the match – you want an ego boost, baybay.>Other.

>>3878125You look back at Cinder, who’s still splayed across the back seat while holding her phone a little bit above her face.“Hey, Cinder – any news on the match? I’m real curious what people had to say about it.” You ask her. Even you need a good old-fashioned ego boost occasionally, and you want to be distinctly aware of how it went over for business reasons. After all, now that your arcade has become public knowledge, you have no doubt that you’re going to have at least a little bit of an increase in your customer base – and if people are going to walk in throwing shit talk at you, you’d like to be at least a little bit prepared for it.“There’s not a lot up good stuff up at the moment, other than clips of commentators! Looks like you might have rocked their world a little bit?” She responds lazily, still scrolling through her newsfeed. “I’m guessing a lot of sites are waiting for the VOD to be uploaded before writing out a full play-by-play. Of course, there are a lot of posts from before the match throwing shade, but what can you do?”That would make sense, you suppose. You know for a fact that your match with 0phelia spread like wildfire hours after it happened, and the slew of articles – both high quality and otherwise – polluted Cinder’s feed for a few days after the fact. You can only imagine what the sites had to say when this match was officially announced.“Oh, before I forget, I had a question for you. What’s the difference between competitive machines and personal machines? I recall you mentioning that earlier. Also, what’s the deal with the blood? That wasn’t in any of the matches I played before.”“Ah, those are good questions, and both are tied together. When I meant competitive machines, I meant tournament only machines. Those ones are built to process a lot more stuff – such as the blood. You’ll only find that feature in tournament matches, as it provides opportunity for players to track their opponent for a short period of time, although people only really do that in team play. There’s a bunch of other mumbo jumbo involved in it, but the gist is that those machines are built to analyze a lot more stuff than a consumer machine would, and as a result it can really tire you out if you’re not used to it. Also, they aren’t super comfy.” Cinder recites, shoving her phone into her pocket as she looks over at you. “Personally I’ve never really cared about what else it looks into, I just know that they suuuuuck.”Huh, interesting! You’re reminded once more about how things have changed. Good. Now Rock won't be standing awkwardly outside the apartment for hours.
Well I missed the vote but I thought this was a celebration. Why are we inviting the guy who assaulted us and our friend and destroyed our property over a video game? I can't imagine Alexis or Cinder will be too pleased to see him.
>>3878211Because we beat him so hard that he's now friends with us.
>>3878222Why would you want to be friends with him is the question?
>>3878197As Fletcher begins to turn down the street that leads to the bar (and your arcade!), you decide to shoot Rock a message just so he knows where you’re at. You really don’t want to forget to do that, because then he might show up at your house, and you really could do without that initial fright. You heavily disliked 0phelia showing up in the early hours of the morning, but imagining Rock doing it? Brr, gives you the chills. So, with that in mind, you type out a quick text to him.>Hey, this is Wolfgang. I’m going to be at the bar next to my arcade for a while, so when you’re feeling up to talking, make your way over there…also, I’ll buy you drink when you do.The way he looked when walking away from you still bothers you, so you throw in that little addendum at the end. Dude’s going to prison soon, so you’ll pay for his drinks while he answers your questions – you’re hoping that Alexis and Cinder will be gone by the time he shows up, though. Alexis might just stab him on the spot for how much he fucked up your arcade, and Cinder would be more than justified to knock him out for the injuries he caused the both of you. All you want is the information that was promised, no more conflict – after this, he’ll be out of your life either way.As Fletcher pulls up to the curb, you get a response.>KWell, that’s settled.“We’re here.” Fletcher states the obvious, putting the car into park and shutting it off. You look towards the entrance of the bar and see Alexis leaning against the wall, a cigarette between her lips as her eyes trail over to the car. She must not have had a lot of work to do today, judging by how casual she looks – normally she’s wearing business apparel at all times, but now she’s cladded in just a hoodie and jeans. You don’t know how the fuck she can tolerate wearing that thin looking hoodie in this weather, but you won’t judge her on it.>Get out of the car and make your way over to Alexis – you have no doubt she’s going to have those STRONG and HARSH words with you.>Get out of the car and open the door for Cinder – you’re a FUCKING GENTLEMAN, that’s what you are.>Ask Cinder to go out first – if anyone can placate her to prevent her temporary wrath, Cinder probably can!>Other.

She seems to be staring at you with malicious intent.” Fletcher asks you, an eyebrow raised and a slightly worried expression across his face. You make a nonchalant gesture at him, beginning to exit the car as you feel the piercing glare of Alexis bore into the side of your head.“She’s my landlord. I’ll introduce you two.” You stand and pop your back, walking over to the opposite back car door and deftly avoiding the flaming daggers that Alexis is metaphorically tossing at you. She’s got the mom glare more than your actual mother did, which is sort of impressive? Regardless, you lean down and pop open Cinder’s door, causing her to look up at you with narrow eyes. She’s moved from her sprawled out position and appears to have been about to open the door on her own. You teasingly smile at her and offer your hand. She blinks once. Then twice. She looks at your hand, and then at your eyes for hidden malintent. As soon as she determines that you’re not planning anything funny, she slowly reaches to take your hand…and then gives you a low-five, grinning at you as she pulls herself out of the car.“Thanks for the sentiment, but not on your life!” She claps you on the shoulder and walks over towards Alexis, giving her an enthusiastic wave despite being right in front of her and pulling her into a conversation about the match. Yep, that’s about what you expected from that venture – but hey, now no one can say that you aren’t a shining example of being a GENTLEMAN.Fletcher gets out of the car as well and shoots you a bemused smirk, the both of you stepping up to the sidewalk. As soon as you do, Alexis breaks away from her short conversation with Cinder and strides over to you, pivoting and looping her arm with yours. When you try to extract it, she doesn’t move a muscle.“You aren’t getting away from this, Wolfgang~!” She says in singsong as she attempts to pull you towards the bar forcefully, Cinder and Fletcher looking on with a barely hidden grin and bemused smile respectively. “This is a celebration, right? And you owe me, right? I can order as much as I want, right?”You sigh at her antics – you’d swear up and down that Alexis was an alcoholic, just an incredibly functional one.>”Sure, Alexis. You let out a sigh, looking back at Fletcher and Cinder with an exasperated expression. You know Alexis is going to be very rowdy tonight, because she always was when she got piss drunk – you’d most likely get roped into a litany of drinking games as well, which was always either embarrassing or uncomfortable, sometimes both! You never could tell with Alexis, and now there would be people to witness it.“She seems like a handful.” Fletcher says, being the pinnacle of bluntness that he is.“I find that to be one of her charms! Never thought I’d be out drinking with her, though.” Cinder giggles, stepping forwards with her hands in her pockets. “Never thought I’d be hanging out with Fletcher, for that matter. He looks at you with a raised eyebrow.“You’ve made some interesting friends over the years, Wolf. You’d really like to say that you didn’t recognize him, but that long golden hair that nearly reaches down to his feet is a dead giveaway. It’s been a hell of a week, and tonight’s supposed to be one of merriment and revelry. You have no doubt in your mind that since he’s in the area, he’ll eventually pull you aside one way or another. If it’s tonight, you’ll delight in forcing him to deal with you while you’re potentially piss drunk! Boy, that’ll be a treat. You shake your head at him and turn around, stepping into the warm air of the bar – the smell of cooking food makes your mouth water. The place looks busy today, and upon glancing at some of the large televisions within you can instantly see why. They appear to be broadcasting the livestream of the tournament, and a lot of people must have gathered to watch due to not being able to secure physical or virtual tickets. The match currently being shown is between two people called Elementalist and KALHN, who are engaging each other via a sniper duel. You shake your head and scan the bar for your friends, and you find them tucked away in a corner booth. Its been around long before you moved to this town, yet the owner of the establishment is surprisingly good at keeping up with the times judging by the amount of technology littered about. While it has old bar mainstays such as billiard tables and dartboards, plenty of holographic table games are spread around. In fact, you can spot two people playing one that look like they’re about to clobber each other…how quaint! The bartender looks up at you as you approach, drying off a glass with a rag. He’s a burly fellow with thick arms and a shaven head, and the white apron he’s wearing looks about three sizes too small for his frame. You don’t know him all that well considering you were too young to drink until this year, but he did bring over a nice basket of food and wine (which Alexis snatched up) when the arcade first opened, and your limited interactions since have only cemented to you that he’s a pretty nice guy. He doesn’t talk a whole lot, but you see his stony face crack a little smile at you when you walk up.“Good afternoon, Ken. Mind if I pay for a round for the whole place?” You ask him, causing a few others to look over with interested eyes. “I’m feelin’ good tonight.”Ken nods simply, setting aside his glass and straightening his apron.“Was that you on the TV earlier?” Ken speaks up, his soft-spoken voice hardly able to be heard over the general din of the bar. Shit, you didn’t really think that he paid attention to whatever games were being played on the television, if only because he’s an older man. You nod at him, and he reaches out and claps you on the shoulder.“Good job.” He retracts his hand and pounds it on the counter, causing a vast majority of the place to tear their eyes away from the television and to look over at Ken.“Everyone gets a drink on this guy!” He calls out, causing a hearty cheer to course through the place, people beginning to flock over to the counter with the promise of free booze. Mind if I get a pizza as well? I haven’t eaten hardly anything all day.” You ask him, to which you receive a firm nod from the man. He has a dainty little notepad in his hand as he jots down people’s requests, and when they’re done, they take a seat in a free stool at the counter. From what you know, Ken doesn’t prefer to walk drinks over – if you have working legs, you’ll damn well be walking up to get your own. You respect that!He looks up at you and raises his notebook, ready to take your order. You feel as if this might be the most important decision that you have made all week, if ever. What do you want on your pizza, Wolfgang?>Trust your QM’s impeccable and infallible judgement of what should be on a pizza.>[Submit pizza topping ideas, the most agreed upon ones shall be chosen.]

As big as you can make it, we’re gonna be here a while.” You say to him, reaching into your pocket in order to fish out your wallet. When Ken sees this, he shakes his head at you, raising a hand in a gesture to stop. You tilt your head at him in confusion, to which his stony exterior once again cracks in a smile.“Present. For a job well done.” Aww, isn’t that nice? You glance over at the table and catch Fletcher giving you a look that would seem to be a call for help – your captain never was great with receiving female attention. He used to be good at hiding his embarrassment, but that ability of his must have faded with time! You better go fish him out of there. You secure a few glasses and make your way over to your pals, deciding to pay no mind to the people patting you on the back or those cheering at the television. You’ll most likely have a dent in your savings later, but who cares, really? Today’s been a relatively good one! You’re more than happy to drop some money for that reason alone.“Never thought I’d see you buy an entire bar drinks, Wolfgang! Are you slowly coming out of that shell of yours?” Alexis cackles as she leans against Fletcher, snatching the glass that you slide towards her and immediately pouring what appears to be spiced rum into it. “Soon enough you won’t even need me anymore! That day will be so sad…”“I’m happy just where I am, thanks.” You reply as Cinder scoots over, offering the bowl of pretzels to you as you look over at Fletcher. “You alright, captain? You look like you might melt.”He shoots a half-hearted glare towards you as Alexis slaps her knee, obviously very amused at Fletcher’s distress.“You’re aware that I’m not good with…feminine attention.” He murmurs, adjusting his glasses and hiding his face behind his hands. You slowly look over at Alexis who’s grinning at him like a shark.“What did you do?”“I’m just tryin’ to be friendly! Your pal here needs to loosen up – he’s about as wound up as you, and twice as easy to fluster!” You sigh as you pass out the remainder of the glasses, offering yours to Alexis as she fills you up. Your landlord was a good person, but goddamn is she hard to handle – you’re guessing Aidan doesn’t entirely hate it though, considering he hasn’t told her to knock it off.You stare down into your glass – how much do you plan on drinking at the current moment?>Not at all, actually – you’d like to keep sober, so Alexis doesn’t weed out anything embarrassing from you.>You’ll drink a fair bit to get a buzz going – you’d like to be able to loosen up for the celebration yet remain aware whenever Rock shows up.>TIME TO GET TURNT, AS THE YOUTH SAY. >>3881981You chuckle as you knock back the glass of rum – damn, that tastes good and leaves a pleasant heat in your throat and on your tongue. You find yourself offering your glass out to Alexis once more – you’ve resolved to not get entirely turnt tonight, but just a little turnt. You have that meeting with Rock that’s gonna happen whenever he drags his ass out of his funk, and you have no doubt that Golden’s probably going to force himself at you whenever you exit the bar. If you add the unpredictability of 0phelia into the mix, it’ll make for an interesting night! It might just be the recent induction of alcohol into your system talking, but you’re feeling good about it.Eventually Ken brings over the giant pizza stacked with various meats, and you all tuck into it. You’ve never had any of the food here, but Ken makes a damn good pizza – and he even stuffed the crust! You make a mental note to come here for lunch from now on, a quick glance at a traditional blackboard menu shows that it’s a bit pricey, but you think you could afford such expenses rather than a packed lunch once in a while. After a few hours of eating and quite a few drinking games shared between the four of you, Alexis looks like she’s about to fall off her seat. Alexis has invited you for drinks a few times, and you’ve been able to spot that she’s a lightweight. She’s been glancing over at the billiards tables for quite a bit, and she loudly makes a declaration that she’s going to school some fools, slamming her hands on the table and making her way over. You fear for anyone who tries to best her, she’s crazy good at pool when she’s drunk.Cinder ends up excusing herself from the booth in order to get a better view of the television, presumably because the tournament is wrapping up and she’s curious about who made it through. Cinder’s real analytical when it comes to that stuff – you don’t know too much about it, but she nearly religiously pays attention to solo competitors when she’s not playing. Makes sense since her income solely comes from those tournaments – you’re even a bit surprised that she didn’t enter the local one before your match with Rock even became a part of it!So, with that, you’re left in the booth with Fletcher who’s switched from the spiced rum to some sort of vodka and soda mix. The two of you have been inquiring about each other’s lives since the split – you find it funny that Fletcher still hasn’t gotten with anyone, and he keeps expressing that he’s proud of you for starting your own business.>Inquire about your old teammates further with Fletcher – you’re curious how they’re doing.>Go and find Alexis to make sure she hasn’t gotten into trouble – she’s a rowdy drunk.>Excuse yourself to go watch the remainder of the tournament with Cinder – you’d like to hear her play-by-play.>Look out the window to see if Golden is still lingering around.>Other.

>>3882509“Hey, Aidan…mind if I ask you something? You mentioned them vaguely before, but do you know what Buster and Drifter are up to?” You lean on your hand while you continue to sip your drink. You notice that Alexis cheers from the little game area, waving a fistful of money at the two of you with a cheery little grin – she’s started betting over billiards, great.“Well, Buster’s been bouncing around quite a few competitive teams ever since we dissolved – last I spoke with him, he was on a team that started last year called the Gambol Club. He’s still primarily a tank role – still uses his same loadout, judging by when I last sparred with him!” Fletcher chuckles and leans back in his seat, much less stiff than he was when you all first arrived. You idly notice that he’s pulling the crusts off his pizza and eating them like breadsticks – you’ll never understand him. “Drifter…well, she’s also one who doesn’t talk to me all that much. I may have made her a little mad when you left, actually!”“You got her mad? That’s a little hard for me to believe, considering that you’re…well, you. You’re a blunt guy, but never hurtful.” “Tensions were running a little bit high after you left – can you keep a secret?”“Who would I even tell that cares about our old team business?”“Fair point. After you left, she came out to the room and was just…staring at the door for a while. Like she was expecting for you to come back in. Buster told her to knock it off, she got snippy with him, Orange just went into his room like always, and I ended up raising my voice and told them that I was going to dissolve the team.”You look at him, jaw going a bit slack.“Didn’t you tell me that you dissolved the team because you didn’t want to play without all of us?”“That’s precisely why I did, Wolf. I decided on that as soon as you told me that you were leaving…I was planning on telling them over dinner or something, but it just sort of slipped out. I pulled Buster and Orange to the side afterwards and talked it out with them, but Drifter…well, she gave me the most simultaneously venomous and hurt look I think I’ve ever seen in my life and then didn’t speak to any of us again for years.”You both sit in silence for a little bit after that, until Fletcher claps his hand and points over at one of the holographic tables, clearly attempting to dispel the mood that had fallen over the table.“How about we play a game? No stakes involved.”>You agree – you’d love to have something else to focus on rather than the bad taste in your mouth.>Actually, you need to make sure Alexis isn’t getting into trouble over there. Alexis has apparently just finished up beating a tall and skinny looking biker – he has the stereotypical leather jacket, long and grungy beard, and hand tattoos – and he skulks away with a mean looking expression on his face. She seems to be none the wiser to this, though, cackling and shoving a wad of money into her wallet. You’ll bet, right?”“On two conditions.” You raise a finger to cut her off, moving over to the table and beginning to rack up the billiard balls. “One, you stop being so damn noisy before we get kicked out. Two, go and get a cup of water or three. You’re getting a little out of control!”She looks like she’s about to protest both of those terms, but your stern look makes her falter. She gives a nonchalant gesture towards you.“Fine, fine! You’re so mean…” She grumbles and pouts as she walks over to the counter, resting her arms on the bar as she has a few words with Ken. You know she comes here quite a lot, so maybe they’re friends? It would explain why he hasn’t forced her out yet. As you make sure the balls are lined up, she makes her way back over with a yawn, a small glass of water in her hand.“So~! What are you betting, Wolfgang? Could it be money? Having your rent lowered? A kiss? I’m afraid I can only go for two of those…” In the low light granted by the hanging bulb above the table, you can see that the flush that had previously dominated her face has lessened ever so slightly as she grins over at you. A chuckle passes through your lips, some of your buzz already gone – you’re gonna have some more rum when you get back to the table.“Your money. All of it. The terms are if I win, I get it, and if you win, you get to keep it. Those are the terms, and they’re non-negotiable.” You say flatly, tossing the cube of blue chalk at her. She fumbles with it in her hands but prevents it from falling to the floor by clasping it with both palms.“Hmm…fine, but only because I’ve never played you before! Stingy bastard…” She grumbles, slamming the chalk on the side of the table just a bit roughly. “I’ll be courteous and let you go first! Be sure to impress me!”You sigh and remove the rack, walking over to the adjacent end of the table and setting the cue ball down. I mean, you’ve seen videos of people doing this! You know for a fact that there are a few pool games floating around! Hell, even back in the day when this sort of VR tech was coming out there were some, although they were mostly relegated to chatroom type games where you could make a custom avatar and just…hang out with people. You’ve heard cases of some people getting so absorbed in those worlds that they straight up never leave the house, which is sort of fucked up?“Not a chance if it’s for all my money! You roll your eyes and take your shot, the worn cue ball hurtling across the table and smacking into the other triangle of balls with a satisfying CLACK! Your shot seems to have been decent enough, considering you pocket the solid yellow ball.“I believe that makes me solids, right?” You ask Alexis, who whistles at your shot.“Yep! It’s your turn again too – it’ll be mine when you fail to get a ball in the pocket!” She says, shooting you a thumbs up as you nod. With that in mind, you circle around the table and take another shot – this time at the red ball. That one goes in without issue. And so does the next. And the next. And the next. After a few minutes, you both are standing and staring at the table in shock, Alexis glancing down at it and back at you rapidly. You scratch the side of your cheek as you let out a nervous chuckle, a bit of an embarrassed flush coming to your face as you lean your cue against the table. It would appear that you’d sunk every single solid ball without issue, and you even pulled off a neat trick where you’d ricocheted one into another to sink two in a turn!“You’re…something else, huh? It was always an interesting phenomenon, you thought – in game Golden acted so regal and condescending, and in real life he’s like…well, he’s like this. Petty, argumentative, and completely lacking common sense. You recall the time that he sent you a three page long message in Warscape when you were younger criticizing your every play and how he would have done it better, along with why he should be the one that was featured in news outlets and not you! He was a constant pain in the ass that seemingly hasn’t changed very much! “If you were trying to act cool, it’s clearly not working!”“You’re the one who didn’t come up to me! Looks like the two of you have started a movement! A minute or so later, Golden comes back with a stack of red plastic cups and quite a few bottles of beer pinned against his side with his arm. Unfortunately I have to call it here for the day because I'm mega tired, so I'll resume in the morning! Thank you very much for reading and I hope you've enjoyed so far, please give me any feedback, questions, or just comments so I can make this story not hot trash garbage. Sorry for being sporadic today, and have a great night! See you in the morning, anons.
Shit, I'm too late to suggest we play totally-not-Yugioh...with first season rules, to make it more annoying/hilarious.
>>3883532>we could have settled it with a children's card game
>>3883535>children’s card gameAnon we are professionals, we don’t solve disputes with children’s cars games. We settle them in melodramatic Warframe
Good morning, anons! Gonna get breakfast going and then I'm gonna get this ball rolling. Will you beat the trap in a game of beer pong? We'll see soon. How are you all doing today?>>3883532The not-Yugioh scene be bumpin' in the world of Gun x Glory.
>>3883601They probably have those holographic duel stadiums
You find yourself able to make the first shot into one of Golden’s cups with relative ease, causing him to glance down at it nervously for a second before flashing a cocky smile at you, taking the cup and immediately downing it with no prior preparation. This seems to bother him as you can see him press a hand to his chest, but nonetheless he drinks all of it and tears the cup away from his lips, tossing it onto the ground. The crowd applauds him for this, and he looks at you with a beaming expression.“See! It’s super easy, you don – ahem – you don’t have a chance!” You don’t miss the little hiccup that he tries to cover with a cough, but he squints at the table and takes aim with the ping-pong ball. He looks as if he’s about to spike it into the table in an attempt to somehow hit his mark, but after a moment he seems to reconsider, and he ends up tossing it rather daintily. Unfortunately, it bounces off the rim of one of your cups, and he looks at the ball with puffed up cheeks as you go to pick it up.“Didn’t know you were this much of a lightweight, Goldie.” You resort to calling him by the name he detested five years ago, causing him to step back with an offended expression before he resorts to glaring at you with every fiber of his being. Honestly, with a flush coming over his cheeks due to the alcohol, he doesn’t really look all that intimidating! You’re feeling pretty good about this one, but the game is not over yet! He could sneak up on you with a series of slick shots…probably not, but you never know.>Player: Wolfgang>Drunkness: 0/3>Player: Golden>Drunkness: 1/3Time to continue the match!>Roll a 1d20 – best of three goes through.

>>3883658You try to angle another expert level shot, but unfortunately yours goes wide due to a poorly aimed bounce. Golden pumps his fist happily at this turn of events, eagerly going to pick it up and returning over to the table with a bright grin. He raises it up, takes aim, and this time his aim rings true – he gets it right in, and the crowd applauds him. You shrug and begin to knock back the beer – okay, you can see why Golden might have had a little bit of an issue with this particular beer. It’s incessantly strong and bitter, making you cringe a little bit as you force it down. Thankfully you do it with no issues, and you take aim once more.Fuck, another miss? What is this bullshit? You’re about to express your displeasure, but the warmth rushing to your face dissuades you otherwise – it took a few seconds, but downing that all at once just hits you like a truck.Golden gives you a scathing smirk as he sinks another shot into one of the amber filled cups, causing you to sigh and begin to down that one too. This process happens twice more – you’ve only gotten one cup of his down, and he’s got four of yours squared away with only two remaining. You fight down a giggle bubbling up within you – you will NOT LOSE TO HIM! You can pull through this, you just…need a few seconds is all. You lean on the table as you try to gather your thoughts, which are suddenly oh so hard to grasp…you’ve never really been much of a beer drinker, and this hasn’t persuaded you otherwise. It tastes like shit and this brew in particular has a hell of a kick!“Feeling good now, Wolfgang?” He snipes at you from across the narrow table. “I told you I’d beat you at anything you chose! How’s it feel now?”You grimace as you unsteadily begin to aim the ball – you’re not out of this game yet!>Roll a 1d20 – best of three wins!
>>3883671Whoops forgot to include this.>Player: Wolfgang>Drunkness: 2/3>Player: Golden>Drunkness: 1/3
>>3883532To be fair anon, I was going to suggest we do a fairly standard drinking game: both sides make a bet of drinks (e,g 2 shots of vodka) before doing something (in this case I was going to suggest trying to embarass / make the other blush) with whoever fails (be it to make the other blush or to blush) drinking all wagered drinks. My first suggest was then going to be "5 doubles of Vodka" on the fact that mistook him for a fangirl at first glance. I can only imagine him reacting quite quickly to that. This, this is better somehow.

>>3883688As you throw the ball, you realize you’re just a little out of it when the thing doesn’t even hit the table, instead bouncing into the crowd for a random bystander to catch. Alexis looks like she’s having the time of her life as she snaps a quick photo of your disheveled state, while Cinder and Fletcher step forward to help you up from nearly falling into your remaining drinks. For fucks sake, you didn’t know that they made beer this strong! Your face, head, and throat feel very pleasantly warm as Golden sinks another shot into one of your two cups. This time you don’t find yourself hesitating to take the drink, instead knocking it back without care. Fuck it, right? This is a party, and you’re gonna have fun at the party! You vaguely recall something you had to do or someone you were meeting, but you’re SURE it’s fine – how could anything not be fine when you’re in such good company? You have your bestest friend Cinder, your great landlord Alexis, your old captain Ale- no, his name is still Aidan, and you’re playing a game with a pretty blonde girl! No, he’s a guy, you shake your head rapidly and nearly headbutt Cinder in the process.Your next throw doesn’t even come close to the table, and Golden looks at you with unbridled glee as he goes for the ball and takes his final shot. You don’t even see him hit, but you hear the plop it makes in the cup, so you just take it and down it while the ball clatters to the ground.>MATCH DECIDED!>Golden def. Wolfgang“HAHA! I TOLD YOU!” Golden exclaims as he strides around the table, waggling a finger in your face as your eyes lazily follow it. He looks…incredibly happy with these events, and honestly, that’s fair. But WHY DID YOUR WINNING STREAK HAVE TO END SO EARLY? You’d won three Warscape games, you’d won at billiards, and you could have continued your reign…but noooo, Golden had to be Golden. God, you’re irritated by him so much right now. “Score one for me! I told you I’d win, I told you!” Golden says in a melodious singsong, and you can make out Cinder chuckling under her breath as she witnesses the scene in front of her.How do you respond to this 100% serious affront to your honor?>[Write-in.]

>>3883749(It won't stop raining. I hate it.)“Okay…” You get out indignantly, trying to move away from his stupid finger. You almost trip over your own feet as you attempt to back away from the petulant boy, but thankfully Cinder’s there to loop your arm around her shoulder and to keep you from falling on your ass. God, is it just you or is she like…way stronger than you? Sometimes you feel like a toddler compared to her, hell, you can’t even get out of her headlocks that she likes to spring on you! In this moment though, you’re thankful for her as Golden laughs openly at you, causing you to grumble incoherently under your breath.“Come on, let’s get you some water.” Cinder murmurs into your ear, her breath cool against your very warm face. She turns you around and walks you back to your corner booth – you catch Golden about to follow, but Fletcher reaches out and puts a hand on his chest as a signal to drop it. You like Fletcher, he’s a good captain and a good friend…a lot better one compared to you, you’d say.As Cinder gets you sat down and heads over to the bar to fetch you water, your mind drifts back to the conversation with Fletcher. It just doesn’t make sense to your drunk self! Drifter had said such mean things to you when you tried to talk to her – she said that you were worthless and that she never wanted to speak to you again, damnit – and yet she came out to just stare at the door when you left? You rest your head against your hands as you let out a long sigh – why did people have to be so complicated? You look over at the group you just separated from and see that Golden has hustled Fletcher into a game of pool whilst Alexis watches. Cinder’s at the bar idly chatting with Ken as he takes other people’s orders, the man seemingly saying little as per usual. The bar seems quiet to you in your moment of introspection – Golden’s voice has gone down and the din has mellowed to pleasant background noise, the gentle jazz music tickling the back of your mind as you rest your weary self. Moments of calm have been hard to come by over the past week, so it’s nice to just soak in the good vibes from the bar, you think to yourself.>Stay in the booth and wait for Cinder to come back – you want that water to cool your head.>Call Drifter in your slight drunken haze – even after all these years, you remember her number.>Move out of the booth and venture out into the street – you think some fresh air might clear your mind.>Other.

Vote’s open until I get back.)After giving it a few seconds of thought, you decide to stay right where you are. Your thoughts may be muddled, and you may hate that you’re thinking of Drifter, but you allow yourself to sink into the booth and to zone out to the ritzy jazz reverberating throughout the bar. After a few more minutes of lingering at the counter, Cinder makes her way over with a tall glass of water and sets it on the table in front of you, scooting into the booth right next to you.“Here you go, man. Feeling okay?” She asks you gently, pressing the glass into your hand which you greedily take and begin downing. Fuck, the water is clear, cold, and it tastes great as it goes down your throat. By the time you’ve set it down, you’ve finished three quarters of the glass. You look over at your companion with a small smile.“Doing better now that I’ve had time to sit down.” You murmur, trying to shake the edges of sleep from your mind. You’d been vibing out so hard that you almost passed out right in the fucking booth! You never would have heard the end of it from Alexis if that had happened, her being the person that she is. “Can’t believe Golden followed me all the way here…and then beat me in beer pong.” “That was quite impressive, considering he looks like a stiff breeze could blow him over.” She leans back in the seat and looks over at you – she looks like she’s about to fall asleep herself. You look through the window and see that the cloudy sky has turned dark. The only light that can be seen is the dim moon through a patch of clouds, and the various streetlamps and fluorescent lights that dot the street.“Didn’t realize how much time had passed.” You say to her, some clarity starting to come back to your mind due to the refreshing water.“Yeah, me neither. I’m gonna bounce, since I need to get up early tomorrow! It’ll be a long drive.”Huh, that’s news to you! You don’t recall her having mentioned anything of the sort.“Where are you headed?”“There’s a tournament going on in Waymoore, so I signed up for it.” She replies simply, pulling out her phone to check the time. “Wanted to come over to say goodbye since you won’t see me for a few days!”You nod at her – its been a little while since she’s played in any tournaments, so it would only make sense that she’d leave for one eventually. Not only are they her primary income, but she has a blast being able to square off against high level players. With how you used to be, you can’t really blame her.>Wish her good luck and thank her for being there for you today.>Ask her why she didn’t sign up for the tournament in town.>Ask if she wants you to walk her home – with everything that’s happened over the last week, you’re a bit paranoid.>Other.

>>3883939You consider asking Cinder if she’d be okay with you coming with to the tournament, but you reign in that train of thought. You really don’t feel like being in the public eye all that much after this week, and you definitely don’t need to be following her around like some sort of puppy. You reach out and place your hand on her shoulder, offering her a smile as she begins to leave her seat.“Thank you for everything today, Cinder. You being there meant a hell of a lot to me, as well as everything else you’ve done over the past week. Wouldn’t have been able to have such an easy time getting my foot in the door for Warscape again without you. So uh, thanks.” You look away from her as you scratch your cheek, the alcohol making you ramble on just a bit more than you normally would have. You remember the days where you might have been awfully cagey to her, but you feel like you’ve come a long way since the beginning of the week! All it took was some old bandages being torn off with rusty appendages, it would seem. You’re a bit shocked when you feel Cinder sit back down and pull you into an incredibly crushing hug, making some of the bar patrons look over with amused faces.“Hey, since when have you gotten so sappy, Wolfgang? You’re making it sound like it’s a final goodbye or something!” You find yourself hesitantly returning the hug because you don’t really get those very often? If at all? Cinder’s like…the only person who’s ever hugged you in the last five years. You’re aware that that’s a bit sad, but hey, sometimes it really do be like that. Regardless, you don’t respond to her words and a minute later, she releases the hug and gets out of the booth.“Good luck, Cinder. Knock em’ dead.” “Absolutely, captain!” She gives you a mock salute and a wink. You both exchange a fist bump and a smile, and then all too soon she’s left the bar, leaving you sat alone at the booth while the smooth jazz goes on and on. You feel your phone buzz against your thigh, and you really hate that you’ve learned to immediately get tense when it does.>Check your phone and see who’s contacted you.>Leave it be and walk back over to the group now that you have a cooler head.>Lean your head against the table and rest for a while.>Other.

The fact that 0phelia has given you some form of phone PTSD really fucks with you, but you decide to slot that thought away for later and look at what the big man has to say.>ROCK: I am outside>WOLFGANG: Well, I’m still in the bar, and I’m not very easy to miss.>ROCK: I would prefer if we did it outside>WOLFGANG: …and why’s that?>ROCK: I do not wish to cause discord. Now that Alexis doesn’t have any money to bet, she’s seemingly calmed down quite a bit and is having a bit of friendly banter with both Golden and Fletcher. You hate to break up the good times, but you tap Fletcher on the shoulder and motion for him to come with you when he looks over – he does so immediately and passes his pool cue off to Alexis, who takes it and interrupts Golden before he can say anything. God, that kid has such a fucking motor mouth.“What’s going on, Wolf?” Fletcher asks you, leaning against the wall with a glass still in his hand.“I need you to keep an eye out for me – I’m going to talk with Rock about some stuff, and I need you to make sure that if he attacks me, to either call the police or get him off of me. He’s been acting really weird since I last saw him, but you never know considering what he did to my arcade.” You say in one breath, already making your way to the door of the bar and pulling your jacket on. Fletcher doesn’t say anything and opts to just nod, immediately following you with narrowed eyes and clenched fists. You’re sure that he’ll have your back! You exit from the warm and comfy interior of the bar and into the frigid night air, and you find yourself immediately wrapping your arms around your waist to keep yourself warm. Fletcher is considerably more well off with his jacket, and he walks past you to go and lean against the wall right next to the door. You’re very aware that this is sort of against what Rock wanted, but honestly you don’t really care that much? Dude broke thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment and assaulted you, you can hardly be blamed for wanting a little extra security. You scan up and down the street, and you see a figure standing in the middle of the sidewalk, only visible due to the light blue fluorescent bulb that’s shining over him. You find yourself shivering a little bit once more at the sight – for someone who talks like she’s speaking in slow motion, she’s an awfully scary person when she wants to be, you have to admit!“Good evening, Rock.” You say to the man, who nods slightly to acknowledge that he’s seen you. Upon getting closer to him, you can make out some of his face in the darkness – it’s very neutral, and his eyes are locked onto you. This is literally what you’ve been waiting for! Every trial and tribulation involving him has led to being able to interrogate him here – what were the questions you had in mind again? Who analyzed the footage for him and implicated you as a cheater yet again, who gave him your home address, ask if anyone sent him to wreck your arcade, if he knows 0phelia…there’s a litany of them that you can remember mentally going over, but you might be missing or misremembering a few due to the alcohol. Sometimes a buzz will do that to you, man.“How are you doing?” You start out, but Rock raises a hand to cut you off as soon as your mouth closes.“Please forgive me for my bluntness, Nova, but I do not wish to punctuate this conversation with idle chatter. If you can affirm that he knows her, then that’s basically a hell of a platform for other forms of questioning – did she analyze the footage? Did she send him after you? Does she do shit like this to everyone that she’s remotely a fan of? The questions about here are limitless, really. He’s silent for a few moments before he responds, running a hand through his thick brown hair.“Yes, I do. You’ve got enough stuff compiled to at least make some sort of case to them! Maybe you could even angle it so it’ll have some impact on her streaming career, considering how she potentially played a part in up-heaving yours for a week.“No, she wasn’t.” You deflate immediately. As well as that, I was not aware that she had already came here by the time I had set off, I only learned that when I arrived."“How did you find out she was here, then?" You ask, shivering due to a cold gust of wind."I told her I was going to talk to you, and she revealed that she was here and offered me room and board."“Then…do you know about anything else that's happened, in that case?”“I know that she went to your arcade to face you. Other than that, no.”Hmm, so she’s been keeping him in the dark, then?>Inquire about the mutual friend, if only so you can dig up information on him later.>You think you’ve heard enough from him – this is already enough to cast shade on 0phelia.>Other.

>>3884796“…you said you’d answer questions to the best of your ability, yes?” You say to Rock, moving off of the glass and turning to face him fully. He nods resolutely at you, so you figure that it’s about time to settle your own curiosity about the way he’s been acting – his absolute serenity after the fight ended, the weird feeling you got when he said that he needed to go settle his own affairs on his own, his lack of any aggression ever since you won that fucking fight…it’s all incredibly strange, and now you’re going to try to get to the nub of the matter.“What’s going on with you, Rock? You’re acting entirely different than you’ve been for this entire week, and I want to know why.” The air grows silent as the two of you stare at each other, and after a while, Rock breaks it with a deep and weary sigh.“I will say this to you once, Wolfgang, and only once. I have not stopped thinking about you ever since our match. I was under the belief that you cheated and I had a damn good reason to believe you did, and while I will admit that I made my own fucking mistakes by breaking the rules of competitive play in betting everything we had on that match, I leveled the blame at you. This is because with the revelation of your aim-bot tampering, it could have meant that we could have won that match and advanced, doubling our money without anyone having been any wiser! This was my mistake, and it cost me my team that I loved…and I believed it was all because of you. My anger has kept me going throughout these long, long years, and now that I’ve come this far and been proven that those skills of yours were entirely legitimate?!” His voice is slowly raising as he rambles on, going from standing stock still to pacing back and forth with clenched fists. You take a step back – you hadn’t expected this out-pour of emotions from the man! A few seconds pass, and he slowly looks up at you.You are taken entirely off guard by the tears rolling down his cheeks.“I feel…empty, now. Like there’s nothing left. Everything that’s been carrying me has been proven false, and all that’s left behind is my own stupidity.”Silence overtakes the street once more, and you find yourself robbed of words to say to the man. How are you even supposed to respond to that? It doesn’t make any of what he did right, but…wow.“I would like to go now, Wolfgang.” He says after a while, no longer looking you in the eyes. “I’ve done enough here, I think.">Allow him to leave – you don’t want to bother this man further.>You still have questions – and he’s obligated to give them.>Other.
>>3884826>>Allow him to leave – you don’t want to bother this man further.>>Other.Not really a serious question, but ask if his big ass sword was a custom job. Maybe get the name of the crafter. We could use a nice knife/machete/what have you.

Too tired to continue, so I'm going to head to bed for the night. Thank you very much for reading and I hope you've enjoyed the quest so far! Please give me any feedback or questions that you have, and I'll see you in the morning. Have a good night, anons!
>>3884861>>3884856Excuse me if I’m forgetting something but, how is 0phelia involved with rock’s situation? Wasn’t it just confirmed she wasn’t involved?
>>3884901HehNoShe wasn't involved directly as far as Rock says and he could be lying *GASP*. She could be one that told Ko$sacks to lie to rock.
>>3884951So what are we going to say then“Oh yeah by way, you know that person you just said wasn’t involved? Yeah they’re involved, how do I know? Beeccauusee I think they are. That’s way too much of a stretch anon.
Just woke up! Gonna make some food and do some schoolwork, and then we're gonna be back in this.
>>3885225You don’t think that you could keep Rock here even if you wanted to, what with the look on his face and the emotions he had just shown you. You know for a fact that he had brought about his own demise with his own actions, but you can’t help but feel a little bad for him – he had made a mistake just like you had, and instead of getting slapped with an anti-cheat band and leaving your team of his own accord like you, he forcefully had his ripped away and is now banned from competitive play indefinitely. You find yourself stepping towards him, and while you don’t give him a hug, you reach up to firmly clasp his shoulder. He looks down at you, a note of surprise held within his eyes.“I think you might have been influenced by 0phelia, Rock.” You look over at him, deciding that now’s the time to say your own piece. “With everything that’s happened recently, I can’t help but think she knew about your anger and exploited it against me. She’s been trying to recruit me to a team over the past week, and she’s done quite few things to try and force me into it. She’s the one that leaked my address online, she might have been the one who influenced your friend to implicate that I cheated in my match against you.”“And?”“H-Huh?”“I’m going to prison soon, Nova. If she used me to try and accomplish her goals, then that’s just how it is – nothing would have prevented this result. I will not levy blame at her, nor will I continue to place blame on you.” He steps away and causes your arm to fall back down against your side, beginning to walk away from you. “Her business is her own. If she used me as a bargaining chip for you, I can’t do anything about that. Later.”He says nothing to you as he walks away, and the silence is oppressive as he eventually makes his way out of sight. You stare forward as you replay his words over and over in your head, and you suddenly don’t really feel very festive anymore. You feel very introspective after this encounter with Rock – it turns out his motives ran deeper than you originally thought. Shit, man.>Go back into the bar and think about everything that just happened – you’ll grab a drink and try to calm down from this.>Go back to Fletcher and inform him that you’re going home – you don’t really feel like celebrating anymore tonight.>Other.

>>3885392>"You sure you don't want to trash her place too? Since you're going to jail anyway and all..."
>>3885459No.I can get why anons aren’t thrilled about 0phelia but she’s not involved, plus we just gained a bro and you want to send him to do our dirty work? Not cool bro, not cool.
>>3885431(Sorry for the wait, words are a fuck)You really would like to say that you have it in you to continue hanging out with everyone, but honestly you sort of just feel a little depressed now? The fact that all of that had been propelling Rock to do what he did is fucking with you, and it’s left you with a lot to think about. You let out a long sigh and begin walking back towards Fletcher – you’re too tired to make coherent logic out of everything, judging by the fact that you can feel sleep probing at the forefront of your mind. It’s been a long day!“I think I’m going to head home, Aidan. I’m really tired, and that…was a conversation and a half.” You say to your old captain, reaching out and patting him on the shoulder. “Be sure to tell everyone where I went, alright?”“Will do. Aren’t you going to pay the bartender, though?”Ah, you had almost forgotten about that! You reach into your wallet and pull out a decent amount of money (none of Alexis’s, otherwise she would have your head), and hand it over to him. He takes it and his eyebrows raise.“Damn, you really have been saving up if you have all this.” He idly remarks to you as you turn away.“It was good seeing you today Fletcher – will you be in town for long?”“For a few more days, yeah.”“Then I’ll see you soon!”“Sounds good to me.”You both exchange a nod and a wave, and then he disappears into the bar. The street falls quiet other than the low buzzing caused by all the lights, so you jam your hands into your pockets and begin to make your way home. The air has grown much colder by the time your little apartment complex is in sight, enough that you can feel the insides of your nostrils beginning to freeze up. Christ, this is one hell of a cold snap! It isn’t too uncommon for these to happen around your area, but you hate it viscerally every single time – you look ahead and see that it has begun to snow a little bit, the small flakes only visible due to the streetlamp just in front of the building. Even if it’s frigid, you certainly find the calm atmosphere of the evening invigorating, especially after the conversation you just had with Rock. It’s only when your vision shifts away from the snowflakes that you notice a girl lingering under the streetlamp, her hands within the pockets of her tan jacket as she leans against the pole. Her black hair seems to be a little messy due to the gentle wind, and you can more than certainly ascertain that the oval glasses sitting on her nose are fogged up.You let out a sigh – you should have known that 0phelia would flag you down today, one way or another.>Approach the girl – might as well get this over with and interrogate her like you did Rock.>Walk past her like you don’t even know her – you’re tired and have no time for her bullshit.>Act like you’re still drunk – maybe that will get her to go away?>Other.

>>3885533>>3885539>>3885541Come on anons.Ignoring her is only going to drag things out, and I want to be done with this. For better or for worse
>>3885530>Walk past her like you don’t even know her – you’re tired and have no time for her bullshit.Wrong time, wrong place.
>>3885533>>3885539>>3885541>>3885563>>3885567You ain't got time for that. Writing now!
>>3885577You shake your head – now is neither the time or place to have this conversation with her. You’re tired and burdened by these thoughts that Rock’s now put in your head, and you have no patience to deal with her and her weird speech patterns. You move forward and pay her no heed, walking past her and making your way up to your door. You almost expect her to make some sort of effort to snag your attention as you walk by, to try and levy some sort of threat to make you hear her out yet again, but none of that comes – all she does is stand still, illuminated by the streetlamp as the snow brushes against her form.If she has something to say to you, you know she’ll find a way to contact you later. You feel no guilt in leaving her out there as you unlock your door and pass through, locking the door behind you and shutting off the rest of the outside world. You shrug off your jacket as you make your way inside, flinging it onto one of your chairs as you slump towards your room. You sigh as you pass by your heater, the warm air helping loads with your freezing ears and nose – fuck it, you take your shirt off and throw it in a corner as well. You move the boxes containing your old team outfits from your bed, and then you promptly collapse into it without a care in the world. It’s felt like ages since you’ve last been able to have a calm rest – you’ve dealt with Rock, your arcade is being fixed, and you think you might have a handle on things with 0phelia.“Fuck…it’s been a long week.” You yawn, taking your phone from your pocket and setting it next to you on the bed. You’ve earned this rest, you feel. You yank the covers over your half-naked form and settle into bed, allowing the vast reach of sleep to grip you and pull you into the throes of unconsciousness. As you begin to drift off, all is quiet in your apartment…except for the sound of a slip of paper rustling somewhere unknown to you. You’d like to say you care, but you really don’t at the moment. All you care about is catching up on your shut-eye.>End thread.
And with that, I’m now archiving this thread! Thank you very much for reading this, and for all of the feedback – it’s really helped me, and I can only hope I’ve improved somewhat since the beginning of the quest. If this were a book, I’d say that this is the end of Act 1!Unfortunately, I’m going to be taking another little bit of a break from this quest…because I’m going to be running a spooky one-shot either tomorrow or the day after! So hey if you like my writing, please look out for that. After I do that, I’m either going to hop back to this, or I may start a little side-story for this…I wonder what your old teammate Orange might be up to?As well as that, thank you very much for the warm welcome back to the board – it’s been great writing this again, and I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed this. Please leave any feedback, comments, questions, compliments, or concerns for me – I’ll be sticking around the thread for a little bit if you wanna chat or whatever. With that in mind, see you all for the next round! Thanks again for playing.
>>3885645thanks for running man, enjoyed the constant updates!
>>3885649Thank you for reading, I really tried my best to stay consistent!
>>3885645Thanks for running cirno. Of the characters introduced so far, which has the nicest ass?
>>3885662Probably Cinder because she exercises lmao
>>3885645Thanks for running!Very important question, have long do we have before going into dramatic pose withdrawal?
>>3885683It could happen any day now, it has been a while...
>>3885662How about rock, or does he skip leg day?
>>3885690He's one of those dudes who focuses way too much on his arms. Absolutely skips leg day desu.
>>3885694Thanks for answering cirno! I'll be looking forward to tomorrow then. Also do you have a nice ass?
>>3885706Currently working on it, it will be someday!
>>3885709Have we ever did anything unexpected?Because I like seeing Qm’s tremble as we you are at our mercy
>>3885712Nothing too far out there, although I didn't expect people to have sympathy for Rock in the end. I'm glad y'all did tho because I got to write his piece on things, and also for other reasons that I can't say!
>>3885724Don't worry, I'm just as baffled as you are that some people now think of the guy who assaulted us and destroyed our property in autistic rage as a 'bro'.
>>3886087I haven't forgiven him but he has at least finally admitted he was wrong and apologized. Considering he's going to prison, justice served. The real problems are the people who lied to him and aimed him at us.
>>3886350>admitted he was wrong and apologizedFeel free to correct me if I missed it somewhere, but Rock hasn't apologized for attacking us. All he's done has admitted that we didn't cheat in a game years ago. >The real problems are the people who lied to him and aimed him at us.Just because he was manipulated into going after us doesn't mean he holds less culpability for his actions, he's a person with free will, not a terminator.
>>3886362Still me, just on different Wi-Fi.>Rock hasn't apologized for attacking usI thought he had had apologised, if he hasn't then he definitely needs to.>doesn't mean he holds less culpability for his actionsDefinitely not, but he's a solved problem, whereas his instigators are an ongoing issue. He was a moron to trust them, but he thought they were his friends and believed what they said, it's not like he got paid for it. If Cinder told us someone was a cheating asshat who was screwing us over, we'd probably trust her too, even if we were smart enough to try and verify it before attacking them like a dumbass.Rock is a naive moron with no self-control but hopefully some of that naivety has been bitch-slapped out of of him with all this. I wouldn't call him a friend, but I'm content that we likely won't have more issues with him (plus he'll be in prison soon, so good luck getting tricked into attacking us from there anyway).
>>3886430>I wouldn't call him a friendHonestly, this is mostly what I mean with all this. Some of the replies to prompts involving Rock (offering to buy him drinks, calling him a 'bro', one guy trying to hug him) from some of the voters makes me think that they're acting like this is some kinda shitty shounen anime and we're supposed to be buddies with the guy now and forget what he did to us because we beat him in a video game.I mostly just wanna be done with him and never see mention of him again. I agree that he's not an issue anymore and I'm not saying more needs to be done, I'm mostly just confused how some people suddenly lost any ire after we won a match against him.
>>3886434>>3886430While I agree with you, it doesn't surprise me at all. There are people who think 0phelia did nothing wrong
>>3886447At least there I'm pretty sure they're memeing. At least I hope so, given the couple of '0phelia is best girl' guys. Especially when we all know best girl is Cinder, right?
>>3886519Agreed, Cinder a best, but 0phelia being treated as a punching bag without knowing anything other than our point of view is really irritating. With anons screaming fuck 0phelia every chance they get, and refusing to talk to her? We'll never be able to see the whole picture. I don't know about you but acting on partial, let alone biased information is dangerous territory.
>>3886546What kind of circumstances could she have that warrants dragging all this shit to our door? I'm pretty sure we've asked what her deal is multiple times and been met with vague nothings. Chances are any further attempts will garner the same response until she gets what she wants or at least believes she will.
>>3886554>What kind of circumstances could she have that warrants dragging all this shit to our door? That's what I want to know. You don't go looking for a washed up, has-been cheater, whose only experience was one tournament years ago. Not without a damn good reason. If we have to lie in order for her to tell us why, then so be it. It's not like most anons here have a problem with that.
Hey, good morning everyone! Really enjoying the discussion, it warms me heart.Spooky quest begins tomorrow because I actually forgot I have a lot of homework today so whoooops.>>3886519Cinder is pretty great desu.
>>3886597Thanks for the run, it was a blast. Now make a twitter account, so when you inevitably disappear again we would be able to come there and scream at you.
>>3886604I may just have to do that lmao.

>>3886786Best girl is breakfast bucket.
>>3886910Not all of us are into vore, sorry.
>>3886910Imagining a breakfast bucket girl now. Not sure how I feel about it.
>>3887438Imagine not wanting to eat her out, if you know what I mean

>>3887673O-Oh my, anon.>>3887810Hopefully soonish, an unexpected essay has proved more difficult than expected! Gives me time to work on the OP I guess but I don't want to start unless I'm sure I can get out at least a few updates - apologies for the wait!
Howdy, everyone who's still lingering! Hope you're doing well. After quite a while spent on trying to work on the spooky quest, turns out the idea didn't pan out into quest form as well as I would have liked. Pretty shitty, right? My game's slippin', I'll tell you what. Sorry about that if anyone was looking forward to it!On the upside though, it means I'll be spending time getting the next arc of Gun x Glory ready. Whether that be the side story, or the next full adventure! Will be a little bit before I write it, though. Maybe even four months...? Nah.But hey, an anon suggested I get a Twitter - and it turns out that I hate Twitter! So instead of doing that, I'm going to throw down a sick alternative - Discord! I've made a server for the quest, so if you wanna join it and ask me things and hang and stuff, feel free to swing by!https://discord.gg/e5rWRfSo that's it for my little info update - hope you're having a great day, and I'll see you in the next thread! Or on the discord. Up to you, really.
>>3889250Sometimes it be like that, anon.
>>3889238>discordnahSee you next thread, Cirno!
