"What comes to mind when you think of an elf? Long ears? A slender frame? Agility far beyond that of any mortal man? Beauty that surpasses all beauty?

Foolishness.

I see them for what they are.Barbaric savages. They waged their wars in the name of virtue, and on behalf of nature itself. Protecting the forest from the industrial menace of mankind. I see them as the butchers who slaughtered my brothers and sisters, all for the sake of a few trees. As if the two are even comparable. They hold the greens of this world so far beyond the flesh of the living, they consume the dead without remorse. We tried to abide by their ways. Live within the limits they set for us. Being restricted in the amount of foresting we can engage in. But how many lives are we willing to sacrifice each winter for the sake of peace with these monsters? I reject the very notion with all of my being.
That's why when the king said there can be no peace, I was one of the first to raise my sword.
This cancer will be removed. We will drive them out of these lands, and if they are so willing to die for these forests, then die they shall."
The soldier continued to rant and rave, disturbing the peace of your fine establishment while he downed another shot of Ale.
His type were the very reason you decided to build your pub on the outskirts of town, but it seems that such drama is intent to follow you everywhere. You could already see the sour faces breaking out amongst your patrons. Why must it be so difficult to give people a place to drink in peace?
Before you even begin to think about what action to take, someone else decided to get involved.

"Bullshit! Everyone knows this war is only about the gold. The elves have built their homes atop a treasure trove they refuse to plunder, so.."

BANG

The solider had slammed his fists upon the table, spilling not only his drink but the other 3 belonging to those at his table. Your waitresses looked hesitant to go start cleaning the spill.

"Who dares to utter such lies?! I'll have your head!"

What a pain.

>Your pretty charismatic and have a good reputation around here. You can diffuse this situation. They are paying customers after all.

>Your confident enough in your strength to just throw these two drunkards out. You don't have time for this shit. Time to send a message.

>Let them get it out of their system. You're quick enough to stop them if things start getting out of hand, But you'd rather not get involved.

You make your way around the bar and approach the soldier, looking towards the man who had shouted across the room.

"I think the Elves need to learn that greed is a vice. Why should we freeze and starve so that they may play nice with deer they refuse to eat, crops they don't harvest, and lumber they won't use? Time for them to share I’d say."

You motion towards your staff to come clean the mess and replace the spilled drinks. The distant man sat back down with a huff, as the solider next to you collected himself and spoke.

"Ah... Apologies my good sir. It appears I’ve had a bit too much caused a ruckus.. But i thank you. It's quite the insult to insinuate what I’m putting my life on the line for the kings wealth. Our people come first, and this is what it's about. I had no idea you were such a sensible man."

The solider slowly took his seat again as fresh drinks were brought back to the table, and the bar went back into a state of simple chatter.
Looking around you could see a large number of happy glances in your direction, as well as a few furrowed brows, But you had said your piece and prevented a brawl. All was well.

At least until you felt a slap on the shoulder followed by a small chuckle.

"Nevah thought id see you jump head first into politics boss! but ya' sure brought that to an end to it quickly. Thought I’d be scrubbin' blood off the floors again today."

Looking over your shoulder you were greeted by your most trusted employee, Christina. Being about one head length shorter than you, four times as energetic and far too rough at times, This spunky blond had helped you through some tough times, and really got the word out about the place.

>Of course, we have a business to run and men screaming and brawling with each other is bad for business.

"Our veterans take priority here and they need to know that."

Although you weren’t speaking that loudly, your remark was met with a few cheers, nods of approval, and an awkward clap or two. Only the soldier seated next to you had his formal attire on, but it seemed that a good number of the enlisted or ex-military were here today. Maybe you should offer veterans a discount to attract more customers? It’s not like business was bad or anything, but you weren’t exactly opposed to the idea of this place becoming THE place for military guys to unwind. Compared to all the troubles customers have caused you in the past, this is the first time it involved a soldier. He was pretty quick to apologize for it too.

"If that’s how ya' feel boss i ain't gonna complain. I'm sure them boys got it pretty hard out there... and ain't that why ya' done set up the place? To give folks a place they can be at ease?" Christina said.

She spoke the truth. You used to frequent the pubs around the center of town, but it never really suited you. Constant fighting, yelling, and cat calling had really lost its appeal lately. You wanted a place to get a good drink and a quiet atmosphere to drink it in, and the only reason you have that is because you got off your ass and made it yourself. Your own little slice of heaven.

"The customers help keep the place alive, don't forget we always have to do right by them." You remarked.

Christina swung around to your front and looked up at you and asked.

"Sure.. But why all tha love for the soldiers now? I mean, i treat 'em all well by default, but this is the first i've heard of it from ya'."

>It just reminded you of the time you spent in the military. You have a lot of respect for what they do and go through.

>It was those same soldiers who got you to saftey when your home was attacked, But she doesn't need to know all that. They need a place that acknowledges them.

You pause for a moment considering just how honest you should really be with her, before finishing with: "I also just really hate elves".

"I see." Christina snickers before picking up around the vets table, wishing them well and heading back to the bar.

You start making you way back up front before feeling a tug at your sleeve. Turning around you saw it was the same soldier, but with a rather distressing look on his face.
"Sorry.. but, do you have a moment to talk? In private?" He mumbled. If it wasn't for how calm the bar is, you certainly wouldn't have heard him, but that look in his eye seems somewhat familiar.

The memory wasn't so good, it seems.
Writing.
>>
>>3889851
You try to recall the memory being brought on by the sorrowful gaze. The feeling that was in the hearts of men who had such a distinct look. After a moment spent reflecting, the world around you seemed to fade away as you open your eyes to a fellow knight sitting in front of you.

His armor almost looks pristine. All of the men from his unit had returned unharmed, but they all had the same broken look on their faces. Eyes that wished to look away from the very world they stood upon.
"What happened out there Joel?" You inquired. "I keep trying to get answers from someone but all i get are vague replies. The hell is wrong with you guys?"

Without even moving his head he spoke.
"What the hell IS wrong with us? I didn't sign up for this."

You couldn't help think 'how cliché'. You had heard that line so many times back home. Every over exaggerated play depicting the army was guilty of it. All it served to do was make deeper that sinking feeling in your stomach. Even one of your oldest comrades wasn't being straight with you, and your unit was being rotated into their place for tomorrow. All they had to do was secure a settlement.. What was going on?

Your train of thought came to an end as the world faded to white, and sprawled out before you in a small hazel colored room were corpses. dozens of tiny corpses underneath the bodies of female elves, or laid out in the open. Looking about the room you find blood on your sword and in your hands. The reflection of your face as your helmet drops to the ground off the crimson pools oozing out across the floorboards.

"Area secure" you hear, As you continue looking into the face of a monster. Vivid images of mutilated corpses, defenseless screams, and endless pleading fills your ears as you’re ripped away from your memory and back to the present, a concerned soldier looking back at you, awaiting your reply.
A part of you doubt your own memories. Or were those the images that Joel had described back then? Your head hurt. It was all too broken up to really make sense of, but you certainly understood the meaning behind that look.

"Yeah.. we should head into the back room if we're going to talk about that."

The man’s eyes lit up for a moment, as you turned and lead him into the back room and into your office, pulling up a chair from the corner as you took a seat behind your desk. The weary soldier sat before you and began.

"You said you're a veteran yeah? Maybe it's just the booze talking here but.. i wanted to know. I couldn't help but think about it after everything you said. What made you quit?

>I did my duty and served my time. I decided to move on.

>It wasn't what i expected. i just couldn't keep doing it.

"I did my duty and served my time. I decided to move on."

Right or wrong, You had served your kingdom. It was more than most had done, and you managed to walk away from it. What was more important to you now was this place right here. You had fought to protect this feeling you have right now. All across these lands are people with places and things that are important to them, and there are those who would take it from them if they got the chance. You did your part in protecting it all.

You leaned forward in your chair and spoke firmly to the warrior across from you.

"I can't tell you wether it's right or wrong. If you've done enough or too little. Wether you should continue to fight, or sit down and say enough is enough. I can only say that its up to you what you want to do with your life."

You hoped you weren't being too preachy with the man, but if anything you said at least made him feel a little more comfortable within these walls, you could feel you were still doing your part for the kingdom.

The man go up from his seat and looked down at you. The pained look in his eyes now gone. He didn't look happy, but he sure wasn't as pitiful as he was when he first walked in.

"So im due back pretty soon now.. You wouldn't mind if i told the guys about this place would you?. about you and the staff. I think they would like it here, and they won't cause any trouble Mister..."

"The names Fabian Ross."

You get up to help escort the man out.

"I wouldn't mind at all. Let everyone know they are welcome here." you say with a smile.

"Oh.. thanks a lot. It'll be nice to come down here with some of the men once in a while."

As you head out of the office and up to the front of the bar, The soldier thanks you one last time and takes his leave. The room was as relaxed as ever, as you noticed the setting sun through the windows.
"Looks like it’s getting to be about that time.." You mutter to yourself.

Your pub unfortunately wasn't open 24/7. Nighttime this far out from town got pretty dangerous with wild creatures and the occasional thief. A small price to pay for the tranquility and one hell of a view. The place was built not far out from an occupation zone, so you had an up-close look at just how incredible the trees of the forest are. Some of them stretch beyond the highest watchtowers back in town. looking west you're greeted with Rolling plains, distant mountains, and a solid brick path that connects to everywhere you'd ever need to go.
The local economy was doing well and growth was certainly on the horizon, but people are generally wary of coming to make a home so close to the frontline, but from what you knew there wasn’t anything to be worried about. Most if not all of the fighting was deep within elven territory at this point.
Eventually the towns expansion to the north will catch up to your cozy little place, but that was a long time from now.
For now, you decided to

>Let everyone know its about closing time and they should wrap things up to get home safe, Start shutting down for the night.

>Take a look at whose still here and see what they're up too. [talk to somebody?]

You figure it would be best to head outside and check the perimeter before sending everyone home for the day. It wouldn't be the first time you were getting ready to close shop to find damage to the fence or cellar doors. You recall a time when you had shut down for the day, only to wake up the next morning to every wine bottle having been smashed open, all thanks to a roaming mosshound that was waiting for the place to be empty.

You habitually tapped on your waist to make sure your short sword was in place, as you headed outside to a gorgeous view and the smell of spring flowers.
You walked around the bar, inspecting the grounds for any foreign animal droppings, then glanced at the fence for any signs of damage. Everything looked to be in shape, but something caught your eye in the distance. It looked like the silhouette of someone off in the field beyond your back fence. It didn't look like they were approaching your establishment, but it was never a good sign to see someone wandering around off the road. There aren't any residences out here, and that much already leaves you suspicious of anyone off in the wilds.
You knew for a fact that it's far less likely that your locks will be broken into, and more that your doors will be broken down, if anything. You've seen signs of tampering before, but there's a reason you paid out of pocket for a renowned locksmith. You just have yet to secure a budget for rebuilding the place out of stone, So it leaves you worrisome.

>Head out into the field and confront the individual. Maybe you'll be lucky and it's just someone collecting herbs.

>Go back into the bar and oversee the shut down of things properly. The safety of the customers and bar staff come first.

>Get Christina to shut down for the day while you go and check this out.

>Get Christina to shut down for the day while you go and check this out
>>
You turn back and lightly jog around the building and go inside. Quickly spotting Christina serving a drink, you approach her and make things quick.

"Christina, I'm going to need you to shut things down for the day. There's someone out back skulking around and I’m going to go check things out. You don't need to wait up. Good work today."

Christina nodded along with everything you had said before replying:
"Alrighty, not'a problem. Ya' don't got a thing to worry bout. Yer the one who needs to be careful ya hear me?"
She must be pretty used to all the trouble by now, you thought to yourself. It's a good thing you had someone so dependable around, or things like this would always turn into a real handful. Maybe you should give her a raise...Then again..
You walk back outside and head around the building, looking past the fence to try and find the figure you had seen just moments ago. No matter how hard you look across the field, you're unable to find the figure again.

"Are you kidding me? They were just here.."

you climb over the fence and head off in the direction you last saw them, hoping to get a better look. If you seriously can't find this thing now, it's going to be on your mind all night long. You couldn't help get paranoid about your special little place. Especially since it cost so damn much.

Having jogged across the plains for a while, you finally managed to find what you were looking for. They had moved behind a bush in the distance, and you couldn’t tell the two apart. The figure seemed to be slowly moving back and forth between the fauna now, occasionally bending over and standing upright again.
Instinctively, your right hand moved over the hilt of your blade. You cautiously approached the person until you could make out their clothing.
..
Their clothes are a washed out green dress, It blended in with their surroundings quite well. But what really caught your eye was their long green hair. You felt your heartbeat begin to quicken, and your mind start to race.
What is an elf doing all the way out here? Is it really an elf? Would they be so careless? So bold as to walk so far from the forest? What are they doing?

You quickly glance from side to side, Your training was starting to kick in, You already found yourself low to the ground with your sword drawn. It didn't make sense. This couldn't really be an elf, could it? Were you just seeing things, or is it some sort of coincidence? Inching closer and closer to the figure, their slender figure became apparent. You scan their person for a weapon, but found nothing. They could be hiding a dagger however. What were you even thinking? How much trouble would you get into if this plays out the way you're thinking it will?
Your breathing begins to hasten.

You take a moment to compose yourself as you look out at the person wandering in the distance. It looks like they are picking things from the bushes over there, and they have yet to notice your presence.

Carefully observing the person in action leads you to believe it may be a female. Possibly a teenager, but if we're talking about an elven woman you could throw that hypothesis out the window, who knows how old she could be. The lack of a bow or quiver could mean it's a civilian, as you recall bows being standard issue for the elvish forces. Then again, her equipment could just be set aside. There's a lot you really can't be sure of, but her movements seem particularly carefree and oblivious. After they pick a series of herbs and flowers they seem to ferry them over to the same spot before heading back out to nearby bushes. The container, and possibly her equipment must be in that spot. If you could sneak around to a different angle you could possibly see what's over there, if anything.

Seeing as how she is completely unarmed, even if the weapon is being hidden on her person, it would take a good amount of time for her to retrieve it. If you take them by surprise you wouldn't have any trouble.

Then again.. you could be wrong. From this distance you can't tell if this person is really an elf or not, and if she is.. you would almost certainly be spotted before you are close enough to be certain. It wasn't unheard of for elves to try and disguise themselves as human..

What should i do? you wonder.

{You are within someone's line of sight and are hidden, any movements require a 1d20}

You steady your hand, and slow your breathing. Surveying the area with your eyes, you see that one of the same types of shrubs is located not far from your left side. Depending on just how much she's fetching, she may end up coming your way. Then you'll have the perfect chance to get the jump on them. If she doesn't end up coming this way, then you can move up on her while her back is turned, or while she routinely makes her way back to her supplies.

The scent of the grass fills your nostrils, as the soft buzzing of small insects fills you ears, and birds sing their pleasant songs to the setting of the sun. It was like this too back then, wasn't it? You think back to your time in the military. Staking out elven hideouts. tailing your targets as they separated themselves from one another. The elves seemed to be rather fond of putting their women into their ranks. You recall the faces of old fallen comrades who lost their lives feeling pity, showing mercy. War is filled with such horrible shades of gray. Were they wrong for showing mercy to the elves? Were the elves wrong for taking advantage of that mercy to strike them down?

Were you any exception?

Finally your patience bore fruit. The girl was heading your direction. Her features had become blurred in the twilight. More time had gone by than you thought, but now was a time to act. That perfect moment to spring forth before being naturally discovered. Your grip tightens.

[What do you do?]

You charge forward from the grass with a swiftness that even took you by surprise. The girl had no time to react before you collided with her, letting out a small yelp, she went fumbling backwards onto the ground, Scattering all that she was carrying into the air. By the time she had realized what was going on, you already had her pinned to the ground, Her hands held down by your forearms, and her body stuck beneath your weight.

She didn't scream once on the ground. Her face expressed utter shock and confusion as she gazed up into your eyes. Before long, tears began to well up as you saw her bite down on her quivering lips. Was she expecting this? Prepared for it?

Now that you were this close, you were able to get a full view of her features, and the few that you had been expecting were missing. Her hair was splayed out across the ground and you could see it clearly.. Her ears weren't as long as they should be, but they certainly were not human in shape. If you had merely looked at her face from a distance, her hair might have obscured them. You'd have mistaken her for a human, no doubt.
This was a [b]Half elf[/b]

You have heard that such a thing was possible but never imagined you see one for yourself. If somehow she had been born before the war, she could be even older than you. Your mind was flooded with a barrage of questions without answers. How is this half elf here? Why is this half elf here? And what the hell are you going to do now? Is there even a protocol for half elves? You took quick glances around yourself to make sure nobody else was approaching you, and it seemed clear so far.

First things first..
You pat down her dress to make sure she doesn't have any hidden blades on her person, and you really don't feel much of anything. Seems like this dress is all she has on her. And now that you're this close, you can see its actually quite grimy.
"Who are you, and what are you doing out here?" You say, as you begin to bind her arms behind her back with your belt.. You didn't really need it anyways.

The girl replied in a mellow voice between sniffles to your demands.
"My name is Sayla Coster... i was gath.. gathering medicine for m.. my pet. She's sick.."

Certainly not what you expected. She was certainly trying to make some kind of medicine. You recognized some of the herbs scattered along the ground, but you couldn't make heads or tails of what she was going for. With her hands secure, you began leading her back towards your pub. By now the place was empty. You could count of Christina to have done a good job of things. You fished the keys to the cellar out of your pocket as you brought her along.

Strangely, she didn't seem to be resisting you at all. You would at least expect her to be asking why, or protesting to some degree. Hell, you would even take begging at this point. The silence was throwing you off big time.

It didn't take long for you to reach the cellar doors at the back of the pub, as you bent over unlocking them and swinging them wide open, leading her down into the darkness. After lighting the wall mounted lantern, you shut the cellar and lock the doors. Now that it was dark out, you had to be extra careful getting around. You wondered if this girl would often be out this late. Its a wonder she hasn't been torn to pieces yet.

Finally, Sayla had something to say. Her sobbing had come to a stop, but she still spoke softly as she asked.
"What are you going to do with me?"

A good question.

>I’m going to be keeping you here until the authorities arrive. Then it will be up to them.

After locking the cellar entrance into the bar at the other end of the room, you glance back towards the bound half-elf sitting on the floor. Your eyes going up and down her body, admiring her features as a something dark enters your mind.

Take her.

Her body seemed appealing enough to you. Elven women were almost renown for the softness of their skin, and you began to wonder how soft she just might be. How pure she is. How that in this moment, it didn't matter to you. Submitting to your primal desires, you start to break out into a sweat as you contemplate these twisted thoughts. To your own shock, you seriously start to consider going through with it. The bar is empty, she has no hope of escape. Her hands are tied behind her back with leather, she won't be breaking out of that. She might be able to put up a fight, but you'd wear her down eventually, and the night has only just begun. Who would come to interrupt you and your fun? You felt yourself embracing the plan more and more.

You could feel a rush of old memories from your time in the service trying to creep their way forward, but you push them back down as you start walking towards the girl.

She must have felt the change in the atmosphere as a look of dread washed over her face. She desperately scampered up to her legs and backed up into one of the wine racks, jostling the bottles held there. Drawing ever closer, you could hear the heavy panting escaping her lips as it dawned on her just what is was you were planning to do. But that helpless gaze suddenly turned into one of determination. The sound of a bottle being dragged off the shelf, and an angry young girl charging at you.

[You are under attack, all actions require a 1d20]

With her hands tied behind her, her range of motion was very limited. You knew a simple sidestep would be enough to avoid any serious danger. As you did so, you draw your sword and went to strike her with the pommel as she passed, but you didn't feel any impact as you swung. She had managed to slip past you quicker than anticipated.

You heard the sound of breaking glass as you saw her pressed up against the wine rack on the opposite wall. Her teeth were clenched as she was trying to look over her shoulder, wriggling in place. Was she trying to saw through your belt with broken glass? You let out a chuckle as you approached her once again, weapon in hand. Even if she decides to charge you again, there was no way she could get a clean cut on you, even if you took elven agility into account.
The girl looked towards you and shouted at you.

"Why are you doing this to me?! Please stop!! I need to get back home!"

Home? Does that mean there are people who will come looking for her? Maybe you should have gotten more out of her before doing this. You shake your head and push the questions aside and focus on what you're here to do. All you needed to do was get in a good hit, or get back on top of her. Once she's underneath you, there would be no getting back up. Her back is against the wall and she isn't making a move.

You were tired of playing around. You were wasting time, and at this rate she was going to end up hurting herself more than you were about to. You dash forwards, taking her by surprise as you lift her up in a bear hug, removing the glass shard from her hands and tossing her to the ground.

Landing with a thud, she let out a pained scream as you threw yourself on top of her. She squirmed and cried beneath your weight as you pinned her in place and began lifting her dress. She began to scream and cry out as you put a hand over her mouth. Twisting her head in defiance didn't yield any results, but she continued to resist despite having no way out. Her skin was softer than you had imagined, and far cleaning than the stained dress she had put herself in. With complete control and the girl at your mercy, you removed what frail and delicate pieces of cloth remained in the way as you free your inner demon and give into your carnal desires. No amount of pleading or begging brought your actions to a halt, and eventually she gave in to the sheer force of your will.

Your guilt was replaced by anger. Your regret was washed away in the pleasures of the flesh. How could a man betray his kingdom to lay with the enemy? Let them give birth to such a thing? Hide the truth from everyone. Protecting them selfishly. You felt a wave of pleasure flow through body and mind, knowing how you were destroying the sanctity of that traitor’s creation. It was a memory that you would carry with you forever. You weren't doing anything wrong. Nobody who was loyal to the kingdom would really care, and as this feeling grew in your darkening heart, neither would you.

This was who you really were, after all. Memories of your past fill your head. It wasn't uncommon on the front lines either. You may have held yourself back then, but not today.
You finish without remorse, Leaving a bloodstained mess in your wake. She lay motionless upon the ground, only breathing heavily in the silence of this dark cellar.

Having finished your business, you unlock the cellar door and head back into your office. Moonlight filled the room and your bar. Guess it was a full moon tonight. without having to light any lanterns, you find and gather a length of rope. Fetching yourself a glass as you go back into the cellar locking the door behind you. The violated half-elf was still laying in the same spot you had ruined her, and you tie up both her arms and legs this time around as you drag her beneath the lantern. You open a fresh bottle of your finest wine and drink heartily. The refreshing liquid soothes your parched throat, and cools you off.

You head back and stand over the girl, glass in hand as you ask her who the elf is in her family. You don't get a response from the teary eyed heap on the floor. You bend down and remind her just how bad things can get if she refuses to answer you, and this evokes a proper response.

"My mother..."

Asking why she was so deep in human territory got you the same story as last time. Trying to get medicine for her poor little dying whatever the hell. The only thing you manage to learn this time is that her home appears to not be that far from where you found her, Somewhere to the North of where she was collecting those herbs.
You're surprised that someone would be so bold as to settle in the edge of the forest, but there was a human in this equation.. so he must have thought they wouldn't get caught, or that nobody would come looking. Morons.

Your blood was boiling. You hadn't felt this much of a rush since your time in the army. It was exhilarating. The surge of power and dominance that filled you was refreshing, compared to the simple silent days you had been spending in this bar. It had been so long since you felt this good.

What was your next step? You were starting to get a little tired. You could try to find her home, but the wild beasts are out and about at this hour. Might be risky.

>Best to get rested up. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow. Sleep in your office and keep the cellar locked down.

Having heard everything you needed to hear, you pull out your sword as the girl looks up at you. She lets out one final shriek before you drive your sword through her skull. Her suffering at an end, you pull your sword free from her limp body and put it back into its sheath. Grabbing a shovel from the cellar you head out back and dig a grave to toss her body into. It was important to make the pit deeper than normal to prevent wild creatures from picking up the scent and tearing up your property. Looking around the field you didn't see anything out of the ordinary. It was pretty easy to see thanks to the clear skies and the full moon.

It took some time to move the hard ground. It hadn't rained recently, but once finished you untied the corpse and tossed it in, filling the hole. It would be easy enough to explain away as having killed a beast and buried it here. It wouldn't be the first time you had to do that anyways, and there were no witnesses to claim otherwise. You went back into the cellar to wipe up the blood and brains that had spilled out onto the floor.

The place looked as good as it looked when you first came down during the night. Nobody will ever know the truth of what happened here, except for you of course. You wondered if anyone was going to come looking for the girl. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to go looking for her home at some point. You might even end up getting some recognition for having rooted out an elf in hiding this close to the town. You yawn as you wondered at how things were going to end up in the coming days. Maybe you should re-enlist in the military again. Perhaps this simple life tending a place of business wasn't the life you were looking for.

You head back outside to try and make your way to where the girl had been gathering herbs. You were more worried about running into some nasty creatures out in the night like this, but it was important that you gathered this stuff before someone else happened across it. It didn't take you long to find the spot you had first encountered the half-elf, and you scattered the few herbs she had dropped when you captured her along the grass.

Moving beyond that point, you look towards the forest and find a small wicker basket filled with various plant matter. That was where she had been taking things. You head over and collect the basket, as you make your way back into your bar and set it in your office. The only person who had a key inside was you, so you didn't have anything to worry about. You placed the basket in the closet just to be extra careful about things, since you wouldn't know how to explain it away if you got pressed on the issue. Your staff knew you pretty well.

After putting everything away, your exhaustion finally caught up with you, and you couldn't help but nod off while sitting in your comfortable office chair. Your dreams were filled with your memories of the battlefield, as you were awakened by sunlight pouring into your office. Looking out the window, you could see the sun was only just starting the rise. You had some time before your staff would arrive.

You use the time you have before the place starts getting busy to look over the place and see if you missed anything. The first place you start is with opening up the cellar to some daylight so you can get a clear view of everything.
It's a good thing you did too. While you couldn't see it by lantern, there were a few spots of blood on the floor and support beam which you had finished her off by. The stains take a bit of scrubbing, but you managed to get them out before long as you headed outside to look around.

The grave appeared undisturbed and your fence was intact. Everything looked pretty natural from where you were standing. You headed back into the bar and gave the place a good once over to make sure everything was in order.
It looked just right.

You heard the click of a lock towards the front of the bar and as your head snapped in that direction, you saw Christina entering the building. She was quite early for her shift today. She must have been worried since you never got back to her after having her close the place down. Hanging her coat on the rack by the entrance she hopped on over to you.

"Heya boss. Ya doin' alright? What'cha end up findin out there after ya sent us home? I'm guessin ya had ta spend the night, what with them same clothes today and all."

>I'm fine. It was just another Moss-hound out there digging around the bushes. Took care of it just to be safe. [lie]

"I'm fine, it was just another Moss-hound out there digging around the bushes. Took care of it just to be safe."

That seemed to cover all bases. Now she won't ask about the freshly turned ground behind the bar. You shouldn't have anything to worry about unless someone heads back there and digs the body up just for the hell of it.

Christina gave you a smile as he responded: "Boy, them lil' buggers been HOUNDIN' us for quite a while huh? Sorry i wasn't round to help ya' bury the thing. Must'a been a real hassel. Take it easy today boss."

She headed back behind the bar, got a few rags and began wiping down the tables without prying any further into the matter. Considering how long you two have been working together, and the fact that was the first bold faced lie you have ever given her, it's a wonder she hadn't gotten that impression. She had tried being sneaky with you on more than one occasion and you could always catch her in the act. Christina was a terrible liar. Hopefully this would be the end of it, but you couldn't be sure. The connections the girl might have had weigh heavily on your mind.

After an hour or two of cleaning the place up and getting ready for the day, the remainder of the staff showed up and got to work. A few early birds came in and began slamming drinks left and right, but the place was still rather quiet. You wouldn't start getting busy until shortly after noon.
You had some time before you needed to tend to the counter.

>Wait for business to pick up as usual. No need to go off and find any trouble. Be yourself. Or at least, the yourself they are used to.

Well, no need to rush things. You had plenty of time to deal with the things that may come. Hell, there wasn't even a guarantee that there would be any trouble to begin with.
You approached Christina and decided to hear about what's going on in town. Most of the things you new about recent events was from listening in on conversations while tending the bar, so you figured why not be a little more engaging. You both took a seat at a nearby round table as you began.
"Anything new going on in town? How've things been?"

"There's been a good bit a buzz in the town lately. Lots'a people on edge these days. They been shufflin troops outta the area recently. 'Parently there ain't enough action out here to be worth keepin’ them 'round. Folks feelin’ a lot less secure these days. I even heard there'd been'a break in at one'a them bigger supply stores at the square." She said.

"Crime has been on the rise?" You asked.

"Yah. Not to mention the towns itchin to grow but ain't enough people for the work. People were already ‘fraid of coming out this way, the shrinkin' military s'only makin it worse. Spose them crooks be thinking they can get away with it in light of that. Might not be such’a bad idea to hire a guard or two Y'know?"

"I was starting to feel the same way honestly. Constantly having to patrol this place and clean up the wild things that venture too close is getting to be bothersome. If we get a little more business we'll be able to comfortably afford having someone stationed out here."
Especially if criminals are feeling bold lately. Your pub would most likely be one of the best places for them to try and hit for booze given its location.

Christina looked down as she slowly continued.
"I sure wish this here war would come to 'n end already.. Makes things so hard on us all Y'know..."

You weren't entirely sure of that.
Enough time had passed that the bar was getting pretty lively. You saw a few tables filled up with soldiers in their gear, having a good time with one another. You even recognized the man from yesterday who gave you a nod as your eyes met. He sure did get this place filled out nicely.

>Tend to the bar and help out the staff. Things are getting busy so you could do quite a lot to keep things running smooth.

>Talk with the soldiers in particular. {Can ask about the war, re-joining the army, personal details, recent events)

>Head back outside to take care of those loose ends in the forest

>Help out Christina on the job today to make up for leaving her holding the bag yesterday.

Looks like op got tired of writing murder

Too bad, we could have played an interspecies serial killer that only target half elves. A rare thing to hunt indeed.

Helping our staff, or helping Christina explicitly. Let's see.
>>
You decided to spend your time working with Christina directly to make up for having her do all the work last night when it came to closing the place down. You knew this could be a challenge as sometimes a customer might be.. less than willing to comply. It wasn't like Christina was built to throw guys twice her size out of a bar.

You passed the time with idle chatter, observing her work, personally serving a table or two. She had been insisting you didn't need to go this far, but as the place started getting busy you saw just how much the rest of your staff slacked off compared to her. She was a real blessing to this place after all.

As the sun was starting to set in the sky, you had a revelation that you couldn't believe you didn't have until just now.

This wasn't who you are.

You were bored out of your mind. Everything you did made it feel like you were holding yourself back. It had only been a day since you used your strength to satisfy your desires, and you were already hungry for more. It had been such a thrill. The pleasures of the flesh were nothing compared to the joy of overpowering and dominating them. Watching the gears turn behind their eyes as they understand they have no choice but to accept what's coming. Having been so close to Christina all day you had become keenly aware of her features. It only served to fuel your desires even more.

Your urges are getting in the way of your thoughts.

>It's time for things to change. There is an elf problem that needs taking care of around here, and you're going to be the one to deal with it. Release your burdens by giving ownership of the bar to Christina.

>You could use Christina to satisfy yourself. You might not even have to be forceful, You've been working together for a long time. You just want to get this feeling out of your system. It's all that matters right now. Close the bar and keep her here for a while.

>As boring as it might be, its appearance you need to keep up. Try to force these feelings down until you can close the place, then run wild. [1d20]

Maybe not full ownership tho. Just entrust her with this place until we return.

Also promote her to assistant manager if she makes it a good good night.

You had enough of this. You could feel the pent up energy in your system. Tending to this dull place was only driving the point home. You lust for so much more than this. It was time to go and take it for yourself.

That an elf could just wander into human territory so casually, So carelessly. There had to be more of them. Dwelling in the forest, Hidden amongst the people. You knew the military was putting the pressure on them, but where was the effort to root out the ones fleeing from the fighting? Who was searching out all the elves who merely waited for the armies to pass, cowering in their trees? Now that was something that got your blood pumping. The thrill of the hunt.

Only question now was, how would you leave things? You had no real interest in the bar, but it was profitable and you would need the money eventually. You had to replace all the things you had given up after you left the military. You had been allowed to keep your sword after your discharge, However it would take more then that if you were going to be serious about this. You knew that some of these elves could be quite dangerous, despite their massive shortcomings. If the elves had been smart enough to plunder the earth beneath their forest, the war might have gone the other way. Their pathetic wooden armor personally grown from trees they planted did little to protect them. Had they been willing to arm themselves with steel... the thought made you shudder.

So what to do... You headed over to Christina and pulled her along into your office. She knew how to run the place and close it down, Was the hardest worker by far, and respected you. It seemed only natural. It would also keep her busy and out of the way while you prepared for things to come.

You left her in charge of the bar. A nice promotion, a good raise, and the expectation that she wouldnt let all your hard work fall apart. You expressed how you still owned the place, and it was your money that was going into it, but you just wanted to take some time to clear your head. You might pop back in once in a while, but it was her show from now on. The fire that lit up in her eyes assured you that you had nothing to worry about, as you looked out your office window towards the treeline, fantisizing about all the things you were going to do when you found them.
You licked your lips in anticipation as you gathered your things and headed out back beyond your fences. You were looking forward to this..

Wouldve been yesterday, but worked actually whooped my ass, so I'm utterly drained.
Sometime this week is the most honest approximation I can give.
Especially since I want to put more effort into the next thread.
