This will be set in an alternate universe. Hero or Villain, any path you guys decide to go on will be rolled with so feel free to decide for yourselves. Manga/show characters and events can still be met/take place. Let's get Plus Ultra in this bitch. [End Intro]

You feel your stomach cramp and a slight rise in the back of your throat threatens to let the breakfast you shoveled down your throat resurface. You stare at the gates leading to the entrance exams for UA, the premier school for any Hero looking to secure a top 10 slot. A sea of hopefuls move around you, most looking just as nervous, a few have a level of confidence that almost make you feel shame for how anxious you are. You decide to get moving, you move your feet slowly and deliberately as you take deep breaths to loosen the knot in your belly. A kind looking woman in a Chinese style dress hands students small plastic keycards. You recognize her as Jade Dragon, a professional hero. She hands you a keycard numbered '231' and nods before stepping away.

You look around and notice auditorium doors labeled '1-100', '101-200', and so on. You enter the 201-300 doors, the last set and find your chair and a small slab labeled 231. You take a seat and a screen lights up on the slab as it extends a plastic stylus. It's asks only 2 Basic Questions...

>Name (you can include a description if you wish.)

>List your Quirk

You guys can workshop your own quirk if you'd like or go with one I've thought of before running this.

>Roulette: You can absorb up to 6 quirks for later use, though the quirk you activate is randomly selected out of the amount you have stored up. You can use the quirk for up to 10 minutes or activate 2 quirks at once for up to 3. (You cannot absorb mutation based quirks.)

Quirk: Caffeine Rush - By ingesting large amounts of caffeine, you are able to exponentially increase your brain's processing speed and reaction time. From your perspective, time seems to dilate.

>Quirk: Dipole Moment- Yoshihito passively generates powerful electromagnetic fields across his body, and can imbue any object his skin touches with a powerful (albeit temporary) field of it's own. I leave whether or not the quirk physically alters his body to QM discretion.
>>
Name: Meryl N. Merlinus

Quirk: Elemental Glyphs. By using this quirk, you are able to summon up small Glyphs of energy in order to utilize an elemental attack. This quirk burns off body fat in order to power it. The more power you put into an attack or the larger you make a glyph while either increase or decrease the amount of fat burnt off. If this quirk is over utilized, users could suffer emaciation, or have the quirk eat into their organs as a source of fuel. Each elemental glyph has a designated color. Red is fire, green is plants, blue is water, white is ice, brown is earth and black is electricity. All fairly obvious. Depending on the type of element, more "fuel" may be used, so be cautious. Using two elements at once can be incredibly unstable and may lead to a disastrous explosion.

You fill in the slate and watch as a rotating disk flashes and vanishes along with what you've written. A few moments go buy and you start to feel a bit nervous, you see other students holding small paper tickets, did you do something wrong? Maybe you weren't specific enough...as you start to sweat you hear a small whir and a paper ticket emerges saying simply: B

As you stare at the ticket you hear a voice from the center of the auditorium, "All students with A tickets, report outside, all students with B tickets remain here." Says a man in a monotone almost bored sounding voice echoes, it's source is a man with some sort of scarf and a dark outfit, the man speaking looks moments away from falling asleep. You sit back as half the students leave and the 100 or so that remain sit closer to each other.

"Listen closely because I don't enjoy repeating myself. Due to an overflow of students applying we decided to make our selection process more logical. Complaints about the tests being unfair to students with non-combat oriented quirks have risen so we decided to have two tests. One being a test revolving around combat scenarios and the other being mainly in practical quirk application." You notice a small smirk on his face as he fishes a bottle of eye drops from his pocket. When he lowers his head his smile is wide but it makes you feel uneasy. "So naturally you lot will be taking the combat scenarios, seeing as heroes don't always get to choose when they have to act and sometimes waiting for other heroes isn't an option. So we will be heading further into the course and running Hostage Rescue and Terrorist Defense drills. Anybody have any questions or concerns?" He finishes with a tone that's almost mocking.

Something about this guy strikes you as him being the type to appreciate compliance over curiosity. You simply stand and begin walking out. A few students hesitate and half raise hands before deciding against it and beginning to leave with you. One young man catches up to you and lets out a deep sigh. "This sure is some trick they pulled on us isn't it? Putting the guys like us into the fire immediately is understandable but it makes me nervous, I've never used my quirk for any sort of, how do I put it? Physical Activity, Quirk Fights in my old school were immediate expulsion. It's not that I was scared to fight it's just that you know I was an only child s no brothers or anything you know?" He prattles on and on his voice slowly getting higher in pitch and soon your friendly smile turns to a grimace and you place your hand over the ear on his side as a deep ache starts to form. He shuts up the second you frown and takes a few more deep breathes. "I'm sorry." he says with a deliberate slowness. "My quirk kind of gets the best of me when I'm nervous. I'm Shita Sokudo."

>SHITA SOKUDO, Quirk: Fast Talk, the faster he talks the higher frequency his voice becomes, nothing short of industrial ear protection can block out the sonic frequencies he'll reach if he really gets going.

He bows slightly to you and you hear a gruff female voice behind you. "Christ, my ears!" she growls giving Shita a death glare. "Want to keep your voice down, chipmunk?" She says hastily pushing between the two of you. Her hair is long and jet black with yellow tips. Around her waist is an extension cord plugged into itself in the front, functioning as a belt.

Shita sighs again, "Tenso Denki, also known as my middle school bully. She's really something." He says this with some sort of twinge to his voice you cant quite place it. You and the other students arrive at the face of a building built into the wall of the facility. "GRAND BANK" Is above the door in golden letters. The sleepy man ends up walking through the crowd and standing on the steps.

"A crew of Bank Robbers have taken over the Grand Bank of so and so. You hear they are planning on beginning to kill hostages for every 10 minutes they are inside the bank and not given access to the vault. No other heroes are close enough to assist, the only hope to avoid even a single casualty is to act. We have civilians of multiple ages played by actors as well as Actors portraying the robbers armed with real firearms...loaded with rubber rounds." The brief pause between his final sentence and rubber bullets left a few students white as sheets. "So." The man asks with the same eerie smile. "Any volunteers to go first?"

You step forward from the crowd.
"I'll go first, sir." You say boldly. You notice a few other students looking at you with concern, some with admiration, Shita simply looks like he's going to choke on his own words, and you swear you see the slightest glint of envy in Tenso's eye as she mumbles to a girl next to her and they share a small laugh. 'Right then, Kokoro Shibui, Quirk: Caffeine Rush. I hope you have something on hand because we wont be providing." The teacher says sleepily rubbing his left eye. You tap your bulging pocket and remove 3 bottles of liquid 10 hour energy shots and a still lukewarm coffee you bought from a vending machine on your way over. The teacher has what could almost be considered a genuine smile as he nods at the refreshments. "Very well then, since you had the guts to go up first I'll personally watch this test. I'm not expected, nor am I going too, watch every single exam. But they say you never forget your first. Everyone else behind the caution tape, interfere in another students exam and you're out of here whether you've finished or not." You watch as he leaps into the air, his scarf grabbing the light pole on the faux-street and him perching onto it watching intently as he snaps on a pair of yellow slitted goggles. "The ten minutes begins now." He says.

You rush to the steps of the bank and take a moment to observe the area, the bank has two large windows on the second floor, but the only way to access them is by climbing a pipe. Cameras outside point at the main door and the street has a manhole that is slightly ajar. Other than that there is a side alley and the front doors. You feel pressure as you make your decision on where to attempt an entrance.

>Burst in the front doors, like a real hero

So, we're a gal addicted to coffe that's trying her best to enter the best institution there is...
This is too real, and for that reason i think the drawback of our quirk should be

>death-march: when coffe stop flowing in your veins, you start to rapidly exausth and become letargic, but until then you're energetic as if you're on your first cup. The more the quirk is used, the more aggravated the exausthion become(may lead to short comas) and the more caffeine is needed to keep your quirk active.

Seems fitting, maybe QM change something but it seems like a good foundation for our quirck drawback

The front entrance is out, for obvious reasons. The sewer doesn't seem like to promising an avenue, unless the villains tunneled through the sewers to break in in the first place.

You dash for the pipe and put an energy shot in your front pocket as you start climbing up and making sure to keep your footing as you steadily climb. You make it to the second floor without a ton of issue and manage to find a slightly cracked open office window, you slide your fingers in and slowly lift it stepping into the office.

The desktop computer has an open program on it, it appears to be some kind of lockdown procedure for the bank involving shutters and a alarm going off, you guess for this simulation the robbers got to the office before it could be triggered. There is a keycard half sticking out of dirt belinging to the bank President, this could open the vault. Out side the door you see 2 Shadows of grown men arguing loudly. The taller shade demands to know where the keycard is while the Smaller chubbier shade insists he is only an assistant, going through this door would require dealing with the Robber.

Does it seem like sliding the card would immediately trigger the lockdown? I'm wondering if we might be able to see security feeds if we play with the computer
>>
>>3930732
This is tough. We should try to see if we can view the cameras so we can get a head count of all the robbers and hostages. If we can shut down some things but not a full lockdown that will help. We might even be able to bait some of them into the vault then lock it down. How is our hand to hand?

>>Grab keycard. Act like scared employee. Give keycard to rober.
Definitely don't like that idea at all. If we're going to hand the keycard over to them, we should try and do something like leave it in an obvious place on the desk, lure them into the office with a noise while we hang out of the window, and then sneakily follow after them.
>>
You move to the computer, information is a great weapon in hero work. You snatch the card and use it to log in, careful to avoid activating any alarm protocols as you search for a camera system. You eventually connect and watch through grainy black and white footage as 3 men carrying rifles walk back and forth in front of a crowd of what looks to be 10 hostages. A 4th man sits crouched at the vault fiddling with the keypad trying to get it open. Most hallways look clear as do the private offices and the break room. You notice a few other icons on the desk that are unlabeled.

Symbols of, A Fire inside of a yellow caution triangle, A dial lock, and a lightning bolt with a cross through it.

The desk itself is barren, a photo sits on the desk with the stick portrait of an American Family still in it. A few papers with various names sit scattered and 3 drawers, two are locked but the highest is half open.

You hear the argument outside the room escalating and wager you have maybe one or two things you can do safely before someone barges in, three if you're willing to risk it.

>What Do
>>
>>3931438
I'm guessing it's the sprinkler system, vault controls, and power. Use the dial icon. Opening the vault should distract the gunmen, hopefully including the guy outside. Once they let people into the vault lock them in. Kill the power and either start dropping the stragglers or sneaking the hostages out.
>>
>>3931438
I'll support trying this >>3931660
If we manage to trap the group with the hostages, we can down one of our caffeine shots and engage the two upstairs with us. I think we can use our enhanced speed to steal the guns from their hands, or maybe try to flick the safeties on or remove their ammunition before they can fire

You click the dial icon and it brings up a camera showing the closed vault door and a status of: Locked. You simply click the Unlocked button and remedy this. You watch the lockpicker stagger back ass the door flings open. You see the robbers look around confused.

"Leo, get down here and help us load up the loot!" One yells from downstairs, you watch the man at the door walk away leaving the Manager. He re-enters his office and you are forced to clamp a hand over his mouth. The short and chubby man gives a nod. "Well done, kid." He mumbles before sitting in the desk chair. You creep out the door and begin crouch walking through the upper walkways peering through the marble handrails. 4 of the 5 head into the vault while another man stands in front of the crowd threatening them with his rifle. You return to the office and the manager has peacefully fallen asleep, a true professional actor indeed. You stir him and ask him to move so you can fiddle with the vault controls.
"You plan to lock them in the vault? That's not a bad idea but, that guy could panic." he says sleepily. "Not to mention you aren't I have pepper spray my wife gave me but that's about it." He says tossing a small pink canister on his desk top. You pick it up and pocket it before hitting the lock button, the door slams shut with a thunderous echo, and civilians and the remaining robber look around anxiously. The remaining robber grabs a hostage and puts the gun under her chin. You see his mouth move on camera but hear nothing from up in the office. You look away from the computer and see the silent visage of your teacher sitting on the windowsill, the yellow goggles boring into you. You wager you have 5 minutes or so left.

You have trapped 4 of 5 robbers, the last one has taken a human shield.

Where is the robber in the layout of the bank? If need be knock back an energy drink and make a mental map using the cameras. How we handle this really depends on how our ability works and where the guy is in correlation to the office.

The quirk lasts roughly minute for the smaller shots you have with you but you can choose when to turn it on anywhere from an hour after ingestion. I think that's fair, the more you use it the more you get worn out but it can be countered with more caffeine. Push past your minute mark or use it too frequently and you risk a coma that takes serious juice to get you out of or a few days rest.

i think trying to make him understand that the police and other heroes are going to be here soon so his changes of escaping are slim to none, so he shoud just give up and not try to make his sentence even longer with killing a person.
while saying this we slowly get closer to them and try to disarm them

You pop the seal on your Ten Hour Energy shot and guzzle the faux cherry liquid down. You feel a familiar rush in your veins, a slight strain in your eyes. You exit the office and follow the circular stairs down to the lobby. The sound of your sneakers lightly echo through the marble halls. The Hostage and her Captor look at you abruptly, a few other hostages have confused looks as showing yourself isn't considered the best strategy.

"Sir..." you start out cautiously, you try your best innocent little girl routine and put your hands up for good measure. "Sir..I think it's time to give it up." You say continuing to advance. "Pro Heroes and Police are closing in and killing somebody is not usually a good way to keep a prison stay as short as possible." You're within 10 feet. "I just want everyone here, to go home happy and healthy. That includes you, I don't want you to have to spend life in a cement box when you could just out down the gun and walk away.." You're within 5 feet.

His arm around the woman's throat is slightly less tight and the gun is shaking slightly. These guys are damn good actors. You see him mull over your words in his head. He lowers the rifle at you. "And what about you kid, a sweet little girl would make for a good hostage. If i could take you with me I may even get out scott free. Nobody is going to shoot a kid, no cop at least." You approach him with caution, keeping your hands up and slowly turn so as not to startle him.
"Take me instead, let the woman go." You say softly. You hear a soft thud as the woman drops to her knees and feel the cold barrel press against the bottom of your chin. You shiver, a side effect from the coursing chemicals in your veins. You walk slowly towards the front door.

"Never had a kid just give themselves up on the entrance exam like that, having second thoughts about UA?" He asks.

"We are supposed to handle this as if we were a hero. This is what Hero's do, protect an innocent life even if they put theirs on the line." You hear an amused chuckle. "Brave of you kid, hope the judges see your logic in that."

You exit back to the front of the Bank. Students watch stunned as you are held at gunpoint, The teacher sits hanging from a makeshift hammock formed by his scarf. You notice Tenso smirking next to Shita who looks panicked. "This one gave up Aizawa, said she was giving her life for a civilian." He says, pressing the gun to your neck with slightly less force.

"Not quite, I said I was risking my life. I have no intentions of giving up." You say as you activate Caffeine Rush. Time slows, You feel the breath of the robber hit your neck, every individual hair waves from the air he outputs. You feel everything. You turn abruptly while dropping low and wrap your hands around the barrel of the rifle.

You drop to one knee while holding the barrel and jam it into the cement by leaning back with your full weight, simultaneously you kick out his foot, due to him leaning forward he begins to fall to his face. You leverage the gun and pressing your weight into it while turning sideways you follow through slamming the man into the ground. Your hands move at blinding speed as you engage the safety, eject the magazine and clear the chamber. It all flows like water before your hyper focused eyes. You hear every gasp from a student, a huff of frustration from Tenso, and you think you might have heard a grunt of approval from Aizawa.

You press the gun longways against the base of his neck and plant you feet on his arms. You feel a rush of vertigo and a slight sense of nausea come over you as time rushes back to normal speed. You let out a small huff and look up to Aizawa. He gives a nod and hops down from the lightpost.

"2 minutes to spare. Showing yourself was a stupid move, especially unarmed and with a quirk so reliant on situational control. Had this been a truly unhinged criminal you would probably have an extra hole or two in your head. That being said, using your age and appearance to disarm him both figuratively and literally was well executed. You got him away from the hostages and in a desperate state by locking his fellow criminals in the vault, you were successful but reckless. You've got potential." He says almost bored, if you still had your super hearing you might have detected a twinge of admiration. Shita runs past the line and up to you, his arms spazzing out as he talks a mile a minute. "ThatwassoincredibleIhadnoideaaquirklikethatwasbeingusedbysomebodyinmyagegroupandwheredidyoulearntofightlikethatitwassocoolthewayyouflippedtheguyand-" just as your ears begin to hurt Shita stops all noise though his mouth keeps moving. Aizawa stares daggers at him, hi hair floating loosely around his head. "If you keep babbling like that I'm going to disqualify you. Keep quirk use to the testing grounds only during your turn." He states, his hair falling back down to his face. "Next." He yells.

You feel a hard shove as Shita bumps ino you due to Tenso shoulder checking him, "Get a front row seat, sidekicks. Let me show you how a useful quirk looks in action." She says haughtily. You turn and retreat to the viewing area where a few students offer you nods of respect and a few even give a few words of encouragement. You sit on a bench to view and start feeling a little better from your come down, but you wont be at 100% unless you get a small nap in, but it will mean missing most of the exams.

"Mr.Aizawa!" You call to the teacher and approach him, you reach in your pocket and extend a small canister to him. "I got this pepper spray from one of the actors and want to return it."

Aizawa doesn't even turn around. "It's full of salt water. The desk is full of them, dont worry about it." He says rubbing his eyes. "And get a cup of coffee..you look pale." You smile a little at the remark. You take his advice and grab a cup of Black Coffee and sip it as you step back to the viewing area. Tenso has already started and you see her taking the same route you did to the second floor, Large monitors high over the bank show the specifics of her actions. You watch as Tenso goes above where you had gone and grabs a satellite dish on top of the roof and she disappears in a flash of light.

TENSO DENKI: QUIRK, LIVE WIRE. She can travel through wires and other electrical equipment as well as channel electricity through her body but only if she is touching a source of power.

You watch as she reappears in a room you hadn't seen, a maintenance closet. She flicks a switch and the lights shut off to the bank. You watch Robbers communicate and one breaks off for the room, as he enters Tenso grabs him by his wrist and puts a hand on the power box shocking the man into unconsciousness. She disappears into the box again, you watch a series of guerrilla attacks as she goes to different appliances and activates them to lure Robbers close enough to incapacitate. An ATM spitting money, a Telephone ringing, and eventually 3 Robbers go back to back guns out and searching. Tenso activates a soda machine and it begins firing cans of soda that explode covering the floor in a large puddle of soda and water. Tenso travels to a teller desk and unclasps her extension cord belt and sets it lightly on a bit of the puddle going to the robbers feet. She grasps one side and puts another hand on the wires of a computer. She closes her eyes and you watch as lights flicker and explode and she screams in pain while power surges through her body into the puddle and through their legs. The men collapse on top of each other and Tenso leans against the counter, her hands smoking and the skin red from heat.

Shita rocks you in your seat and his mouth is agape. "That was amazing, she used to shock me using an electric pencil sharpener in elementary school but I had no idea he could handle that level of electricity." Tenso stands and exits the bank shaking her smoking hands. "What did you think of a real hero quirk instead of your B-List moves?"

"Good use of your quirk, I'd have been worried about the hostages getting shocked too." You state before taking a long slurp of your coffee. Tenso purses her lips. "Yeah well I have good quirk control so I knew the electricity wasn't going to arc to any of them." She says smugly. You nod and take another sip. "How did you know the water wasn't touching the hostages?" You ask, peering over the steamy cup. "What?" She asks stunned. You set the cup down and reiterate. "How did you know. The hostages, weren't touched by the water?"

Tenso pauses and stares a few moments. "I just knew okay? It's called combat sense okay? You and chatterbox wouldn't know it if it bit you on the ass." She says angrily before stomping away. You watch her as she plows through students and disappears. Shita awkwardly stands there just staring. "That was...something. I've never seen Tenso so flustered before. Usually she's all cool and collected and...well, mean." He sort of half chuckles before starting to stare off. Another student approaches the two of you.

He stands a good half a foot taller than you, his hair is golden blonde and wavy and he wears a pair of dark sunglasses. "Hey, Coffee Girl." He says in a foreign sounding accent, his Japanese is stilted at best. "I'm Gary Hart. But everyone here calls me Gyoshi. Just wanted to tell you I was really impressed with your round, you and that electricity chick are making it pretty clear the competition is stiff this year." He glances at Shita. "Well..mostly anyways. Basically I just wanted to ask you. If we both get in to UA, you should definitely let me take you out to the movies sometime." You can't tell because of the glasses but you're almost positive he winked. Shita makes a sort of half squeal and you feel your cheeks warming up.

This guy didn't flinch at all walking up to a stranger and saying that. He's got confidence if nothing else.

"You certainly are confident, and that's not a bad thing." You say smiling lightly. "I won't make you any promises but maybe if you impress me during your exam." You say coyly. He smiles and adjusts his glasses. "Oh I can do that. Watch and learn."

You watch as Gyoshi walks up and pushes the next student about to start back. "Don't worry I'll be quick." He says smiling. You watch as he stands with a wide posture in front of the bank doors. "We ready to roll?" He calls out to one of the exam mediators. They offer a tentative thumbs up. This guy really has a problem with modesty.

Gyoshi flings open the doors to the bank and steps in. His boots echoing. The robbers turn to face him, obviously confused. "Are you serious, hero? You have a death wish." The screens show Gyoshi reaching for his glasses. "Look me in my eyes. Do I look worried?" He states, his face now stoic and focused.

Gary Hart, Quirk: Staring Contest. When you look into his eyes he activates a form of brainwashing where you mimic his actions. He also has 20/20 peripheral vision!

He locks eyes with a center robber and extends his arm, the robber follows suit and lifts the gun. The focused face of Gyoshi gets a slight smirk as he aims low and swings his arm as automatic gunfire goes off striking the robbers in their feet. They collapse to the ground groaning and he raises his foot, as does the robber, and mimes stomping on each one. "Don't really wanna break anything so let's just call this a knock out." He says smiling. The robber mimics the wide grin. "And finally." He states aiming his glasses at his knee. "Bang. Not gonna make you do that."

He closes his eyes for a few seconds, puts his glasses back on and turns on his heel. He gives you a thumbs up and walks directly at you. "Impressed, I'm guessing."

You take a look into the bank and examine the hostages. Besides looking quite shaken you don't see any injuries.

''Well that was a bit reckless just going straight through the front door and firing near civilians...you didn't do any recon, you gave the robbers ample time to shoot you, at most I would give you 2 points for spirit." You say finishing your mug of coffee and giving a wink. Gyoshi smirks and shrugs. You give him a nudge and he stops the from from growing too wide.

"But you should really be glad that this was only a test or your hero career could have been over in an instant. Firing guns that close to civilians is dangerous." You give him one last look before walking off to get more coffee. "But you said you were impressed!" He calls after you.

You refill a half a cup and decide to watch one last exam. Shita's.

His Exam starts simply, he takes the side alley. The screens show him skulking through the alley and finding a small window that leads to a basement, he cups his hands and begins speaking to the glass. After a few moments it spiders and he taps it so it shatters. He slides in and the monitors cut to him creeping through the basement and making his way to the lobby from a service door. He creeps into the crowd of hostages and kneels down with the rest of them, he starts whispering to a few and they slowly plug their ears and Shita takes a deep breath.

"Excuse me, Mr.Robber. I was wondering if maybe I could get a water or a soda or some kind of foodhonestlywehavebeenherealldayandnofoodisthishowweareexpectedtojustsithereandstarvedoyouseriouslyexpectustobehaveonemptystomachs?" He rattles on, his voice gaining in speed and pitch. A few robbers begin to flinch and aim their guns. "HEYITISNTSAFETOJUSTBEWAVINGAGUNAROUNDDINTYOUHAVEANYRESPECTFORTHEBASICSOFGUNSAFETY..." the speakers giving audio from inside the bank start to screech and finally give out. All you see on the monitors is Shita, red faced with spittle flying as he rants.

You watch as the robbers collapse and suddenly Shita looks shocked, Aizawa is standing in the bank doors, his hair floating. "We aren't doing permanent damage to actors. You've proven your point." Shita stands and gives a slight bow. "Thank you, Mr.Aizawa." he replies. He looks absolutely giddy as he approaches you.

"How did I do!?" He asks with a strained voice.

"You did awesome! I wasn't expecting you to be so good at the subtle approach given your Quirk, but you totally proved me wrong." You say. Shita beams at you and his cheeks grow a light pink.

"It was really nothing, I still have bad quirk control I could have permanently damaged those actor's hearing. I still have a lot to work on...I don't think Aizawa likes me either." He says quietly to you, he looks embarrassed. You look over his shoulder and notice Aizawa has a small notepad and is scribbling a few notes, he meets your eyes and holds the stare until you break it. Shita watches his replay nervously and Tonsa glares daggers at Gyoshi as he leans on a soda machine and wiggles his eyebrows quite vigorously. What is his deal seriously?

You find a small couch on the side and decide to stretch out and get comfortable. You feel the caffeine starting to settle and your heart slow down as you crash, your eyes grow heavy and you fall asleep.

==========================

You woke up hours later to the ending exams, you were thanked for your time and given permission to leave home. All you had to do was await your letter of acceptance or denial. You were in your room brewing a vanilla blend to help you focus on a game you've been getting into online. A knock at your door stops you in the middle of your french press. Your father opens your door and peeks his head in, he extends a hand holding an envelope. "Letter for you, dear. I..uh..took a peek. It's from the academy!" He says smiling excitedly.

"I thought you promised to stop X-Raying the mail, Dad." You say holding back a grin. "I couldn't resist. I just know you got in. But if you didn't then it's no big deal, who needs em?" He tosses the envelope on your bed and gives you a nod, "I'll be in the kitchen brewing a victory brew."

You open the envelope and pull out a silver disk. You set it on your desk and look it over finding a small button. A holographic image appears. A less tired looking Aizawa appears on screen, his hair is tied back in a tight bun and he wears a suit.

"Shibui, Kokoro. You have been selected for admission to the Hero Course for this year. Your display of quirk application and selflessness. Still you also displayed reckless behaviour, were it not an exam it would border on suicidal. Still I believe you are a hero of great potential, I've selected you and a handful of other students from the exams to be placed into a new class that will not be taught by one single hero. Your homeroom will be class 1-Z, a new program with a rotating roaster of heroes to guide you. Though officially I am your homeroom teacher. You're not a hero yet, but when I'm done with you I'll be sure you're ready for anything." You watch as Aizawa takes a very deep bow to the camera.

Honestly I think we'd be a pretty good teacher/analyst. With our quirk we could be pretty good at interrogations as well if we learn tells and body language. I'm definitely leaning towards just a stylish suit with some built in armor. If we want to be over the top we could have a bane type mask for hands free caffeine ingestion.

You awake in the morning to a blaring alarm and the smell of Americano and something sweet. You enter the kitchen and spot your mother (Pic) moving rapidly between a coffee machine, a set of steaming pans, and the morning crossword. She seems like a blur. Your mom's quirk gives her super speed that decreases in potency the later in the day it is: "I've been a morning person from birth!" You've heard her say countless times. She rushes over to you and you feel a flurry of kisses on your cheeks.

"I heard you got into UA Koko, I'm so happy, I knew you were destined for great things ever since you asked for your milk bottle with a shot of espresso." She laughs. You crack a smile and wash your hands in the sink by the time you dry them you have a box shoved into your hands. "I made your favorite last night. Reheated Take out from Harigari's, if i reheat it at home it counts as homemade." She says with a wink. "That's why I married you." Your father says walking into the kitchen rubbing his eyes. You get a side hug and another object dropped onto your Lunch.

'The Intellectual Inquiries of The Detective Hero: Eye-Spy! VOL, III' You nearly squeal with joy, Eye-Spy is the top Hero in his field. He ran a private detectives agency from a one bedroom apartment with the promise to personally pay all case expenses on any cases he couldn't solve. To this day he hasn't spent a single Yen. Your dad and mom simply smile and pile your plate with pancakes and a homemade strawberry syrup, they plop down your drink of choice and your dad grabs his own with his work jacket. "Late hours at the hospital tonight, have a good day at school Koko." he says stepping out the door.

You scarve down breakfast and fourty minutes later you are all packed up and heading to UA for your first day. You arrive at the school a few minutes early, shockingly the class already has a few students in it. You only recognize Gyoshi and Tonsa. You look around for Shita and Tonsa catches your wandering gaze. "Dont bother looking for the mouth, you really think he could cut it when you were the bottom of the barrel?" She says scoffing. You frown and decide to take a seat.

You grab the center seat in the front row.

"Knew it." You hear Tenso say. After a few minutes more students start trickling in, some you can see have mutation based quirks. Seldom few faces seem to be from the "Utility" hero exams. Within 10 minutes most of the seats have filled except one in the back and one right next to you on your left. On your right is a rather focused looking girl with hair in a massive ponytail. You notice as she checks her bag for something before giving up and pulling a pencil out of her arm. You try not to stare but that kind of power is a bit of a spectacle. She notices you and gives you a smile. "Can't believe I'd forget this." She says with a small laugh. You smile back and sip on the now lukewarm coffee from home.

Another few minutes pass and Shita comes stumbling through the door. He scans the class and lights up when he spots you, he gives you a cheerful wave and Tenso audibly grumbles. He approaches the seat next to you and puts a hand on it, only for another hand to come slamming down on the opposite end of the back. At the end of that arm is Gyoshi. "Get gone Motor-Mouth. I'm taking this seat."

Shita pales slightly but his cheeks grow pink as he straightens up. "No you arent. I am! Why dont you go sit next to Tenso or something." He says back, his eyes look fierce. Gyoshi chuckles and adjusts his sunglasses. "I would but she told me to get lost, which works for me. I like a hot cup of coffee in the morning." He says giving a slimy grin. "So let go of the seat Jabberjaws, or else." You see anger flare up in Shita's eyes. "I was gonna say the same to you." He says, jaw clenched.

>Gyoshi, You're being a creep. Sit down Shita.
>Shita, dont get in a fight the first day just sit somewhere else.

"Gyoshi." You state firmly. "You're being a creep. Sit down, Shita." You say to your friend pulling out the chair. "But, really? This guy, You really dont want me next to you that bad?" Gyoshi asks. "If you wanted te seat so bad you should have sat when you ad the chance." You reply in a bored tone. You finish the dregs of your coffee. "You should sit down before the teacher gets in." You add without looking. He walks away dejected and you mourn the loss of your coffee.

Not much longer the doors open and Aizawa stands next to a man who seems to be in a skintight leather suit covered in various valves. He wears a glass helmet that swirls with some sort of thin mist, the top of it has a small screwtop.

"Class. As you know I am Mr.Aizawa. You have all been selected for demonstrating what I considered to be above average potential. Before you go patting yourselves on the back that simply means that I didn't want to ship you back to your house immediately. I believe everyone has a finite level of potential, and if yours does not meet my standards for a hero, I will send you home before you can get yourself or someone else killed. With me today is our first guest instructor. You will refer to him as Vapor, his body is comprised of a variety of elements and honestly unless any of you have chemistry degrees I'm wasting time explaining it." He says half yawning, he moves for the chalkboard and begins writing.

Vapor gives the class a glance (at least you think he is). He speaks, his voice a sort of dim echo from inside the bowl. "My body is comprised entirely of gas and this suit was custom made for me, it captures different mixes of the gasses I produce and can release them by turning the valves. Usually I only get to use my powers for birthday balloon emergencies and maybe inflating a tire on the roadside." He laughs jollily and deeply. You hear Tenso behind you scoff. "And why aren't we learning from a real hero?" you hear her whisper to a neighbor. Aizawa drops the chalk and turns aggressively.

"I'm going to let that comment slide once Ms.Denki. Imply any hero is unfit for their title when you haven't even gotten permission to take the training wheels off your training wheels yet and I'll be sure you can judge Hero Competency from the comfort of your home. Vapor is retired, he can't make some of the more complicated mixtures he used to, as he uses his own stamina when manipulating his gasses. But I'm sure if he didn't mind the nap he would need afterwards he could fill this room with enough Halothane to keep us out all day." Tenso gets very red faced and stiffens up in her chair. "Go easy Aizawa, I'm only here for costume theory and to observe the first test, I know it's just a favor for an old friend." He says placing emphasis on Old and chortling. Aizawa shakes his head and returns to the board.
(To be continued.)

"Today's lesson is costume theory, how your costumes can be used for more than selling magazines. As well today we will be holding a contest of sorts. You will be left to your own devices in groups of five, where you will compete against the other members of your group to solve an issue presented in a creative way. Using your quirk in an unexpected and unique way to overcome the situation as well as succeeding in your attempt will be the main factor in placement within your group. The 1st place of each group will join as a group for tomorrow's lesson against the bottom ranking of each group. So try your best, or at least don't be the worst. Select your groups now and we will start work on the Costume Theory Lesson, the competition will begin after lunch.

You decide it's time to make new friends. You go around the room and eventually notice a Pale girl sort of waving to you, she keeps her hands close to her chest as she beckons you over.

"Hello Kokoro, I'm Reiko. We have a team going on and we were wondering if maybe you wanted to join up with us? We don't really know anyone here and Tanaka said you had an impressive exam." She states pointing to a boy with a shaved head. He sort of laughs and waves his hands. "I just said you did really good so like it might be good to bring you in so we wouldn't have to go against yuo if we got first ahaha." He says nervously. A short haired boy with black hair and a fancy watch steps up behind him and clasps a hand on his shoulder. "i'm pretty sure you called her 'Ultra rad' and talked about how the uniform makes her look so-" He is cut off as his hand goes through Tanaka and he ends up on the floor. "Don't listen to Kake, a real prankster. A joker. ha..." he quickly looks away and puts his hands to his face. Kake gives you a thumbs up from the floor. Another girl sits crosslegged on her desk, her eyes closed and a small flask smelling like green tea sits nearby. She opens her eyes and smiles at you, her hair is a deep brown with small streaks of grey. "Chiyo, please call me Chiyo. It is a great honor to work along side you." She stands and gives you a deep bow. Reiko gives you a nervous look. "Are you interested in being on our team, Kokoro?" She asks quietly.

You agree and the 5 of you turn in your team slip. You notice Shita and Tenso also end up on the same team, strange. Gyoshi ends up with a team of all girls, Shocker. This will be an interesting competition. You all take your seats and go into your lesson about Costume Theory, at the end you are given your official uniform requisition forms and told to fill them out by tomorrow. You already have a few ideas for something that yells detective, just like Eye-Spy.

>Gained the option to visit the workshop in your free time to tweak your costume, currently a noir styled detectives garb with pockets for storing your caffeinated drinks.

Lunch comes and you enter the sprawling lunchroom with the other 1st years. Most kids go to the various food stations but you simply ask a teacher to heat up your lunch and go to find a place to sit. You see one able with Shita, accompanied by Tenso and Gyoshi, much to Tenso's dismay. Your competition team also is sitting together and half looking in your direction, there's also just general class 1-Z students sitting with each other.

>Sit with Shita, Tenso, Gyoshi

We're competing with our team. Can't let them get inside our head.
>>
You decide to sit with your newly chosen team. You sit down and pull out a small pad and pencil.
"Lets talk strategy. You say popping a Honey Glazed Chicken chunk in your mouth. The rest of them look at you sort of confused except for Chiyo who nods enthusiastically. "Yes, it will be most useful to ensure we all know each other's strengths and weaknesses. We will discuss our quirks!"

Chiyo, Quirk: Venerable. She can manipulate age in anything she touches, although for living beings it can have the same yet diminished affect on herself.
Kake, Quirk: Roulette. He absorbs up to 6 quirks for later use, though he can't choose which one activates.
Reiko, Quirk: Poltergeist. She can move objects and people with telekinesis but only up to about a normal person's body weight
Tanaka, Quirk: Phase. He can briefly phase through objects and people, but getting trapped inside can lead to nasty side effects.

You write everyone's powers down and tell them about your caffeine rush. You notice Tanaka giving you his undivided attention, Chiyo as well. "What do you think the event will end up being Kokoro?" Tanaka asks you his hands under his chin as he chews on a celery stalk. "I really wouldn't know Tanaka, I don't have enough evidence to try and get to a conclusion." You reply going back to staring down your notes.

Kake sips from a ceramic mug, you can tell by the aroma alone it's an Arabica blend, delicious. He sets the mug down and leans on one elbow. "Well how about this then Kokoro, who do you think is ending up in first. and who in our llittle team is going to fail?" He asks looking at each person with a raised brow. "You guys are my team and I'll support you to a point but I don't think anyone should be forgetting this is more a free for all than anything else."

Everyone looks to you wanting to know your opinion.

>What do you say?
>>
>>3943723
>That's hard to say until Mr. Aizawa actually presents us with the problem we're supposed to be solving. There will most likely be some of us whose Quirks are better suited to it than others. You might have the clearest cut advantage in all of this, since you potentially have a stock of multiple Quirks to draw on, although that will be mitigated by the fact that you can only use them randomly and haven't had a chance to practice with any of them.

Not sure if its just a coincidence, or if Kake deliberately started drinking coffee after he teamed up with us. The dude might be thinking several steps ahead in all of this.
>>
>>3943723
It really comes down to the challenge. Our quirk is very versatile but doesn't really help where pure strength is needed.
>>
>>3943723
As Aizawa put it:
"Using your quirk in an unexpected and unique way to overcome the situation as well as succeeding in your attempt will be the main factor in placement within your group."

The contest is basically a quirk show-off. The one with the most versatile quirk and creative mind, has the biggest advantage coming first.

On the other hand, the issue probably requires actual team-work to be solved, since this is a hero school and many missions are done in teams.
Focusing on the success and working as a whole is much more important than momentary glory.
And coming last must not be that bad, it's a ruse.

Call me a maverick for suggesting this but do you think different brands of caffeine drinks/substances should branch into different effect/alterations of the original quirk?
>>
>>3944745
As far as I can tell all that matters is the amount of caffeine a drink has. Everything else is just a matter of flavor and preference. Anything more complicated seems really unnecessary to me.
