/qst/ - Quests

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son, several years after I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present.

You play as Takeshi. A highly capable Chunin, who is returning from years of training with Sasuke Uchiha. A new journey is starting.

As always, voting rules are as follows. Voting is typically completed following 15 minutes after the first vote. This may be subject to change according to activity.
>>
You're standing in the training field, with Himawari. It's early, and the morning is crisp. There's fog surrounding the area, gently floating around the two of you. She's asking about your time training.

At first, you let out a big sigh. Then you smile.

"It was easily the most difficult training of my life. Of course, that was the idea."

She nods. Himawari is smiling, with her hands folded behind her back. You can't help but feel enthusiastic in return. "Sasuke, huh? Dad told us a lot about growing up with him, and everything that happened. Did you guys visit a lot of cool places?"

"Yeah! We went all over the different shinobi nations, mostly in the wilderness. I didn't even know there were giant mushroom forests out there! So many monsters, too..."

She chuckles. "I bet. How did you and Ai get along with Sarada and Boruto?"

Crossing your arms, you take a deep breath. "We really got to know each other well. Ai and Sarada both softened up a bit, while Boruto seemed to relax."

Himawari nods. "You seem a bit different too. More confident, or something!"

"Thanks!" you beam. "Were you hoping to get some training in, by the way? We could spar a little bit, if you're up for it."

Himawari quickly nods. "Yeah, that sounds great! We've only ever gotten to watch each other fight."

The two of you walk a small distance away, roughly five meters. At once, your demeanor changes, and you start to assess her and categorize what you know of her abilities. Himawari possess the Byakugan of course, and is also a member of the Uzumaki family. Both her Chakra pool and Taijutsu abilities far exceed the norm. Being the Hokage's daughter is no small matter, either. She can use the Rasangan, as well as different variations.

Her Taijutsu skilled is something to be feared. She's extremely capable at piercing defenses. Whereas Mari would overwhelm you with a series of large strikes, Himawari tends to go for simpler combos with more power. You've even heard a rumor that she once knocked out her father when she was a toddler.
>>
>>3940082

She takes the traditional Gentle Fist stance. Her legs are widened for stability, and she places the front palm up, with the other down at her side. It's especially useful for interception. Veins at the sides of her eyes throb with increased blood flow, her Byakugan fully activated.

You react by taking a rhythm with your stance, bobbing up and down lightly on the balls of your feet, letting your hands rest at your sides. The best attribute you have in Taijutsu is your speed, no doubt. Your iron hard forearms, knees, shins and knuckles both boost defense and offense.

How do you want to approach the situation?

>A. Dash in and use footwork and straight punches, to try and inflict some damage to her face. You're taller, and have longer arms, so with your speed and reach you might be able to outmaneuver her.
>B. Activate Soap Style: Soften. This will give you an extra layer of defense, making it more difficult for her to strike vital points. The technique coats your body and clothes in a thin layer of slippery soap.
>C. Use the Water Clone Jutsu to create two clones, and send them in with a pincer formation. Simply get a read on how she reacts, so you can see what her physical abilities are like now.

Hot damn. Welcome back, Mini!

Just so everyone knows, tonight will be a fairly short thread to get back in the swing of things.

Tomorrow I plan to continue it. Generally before I would run for long periods, with life often interrupting me. Now I'm intending to do shorter threads, but more frequently, with long ones fitted in every now and then.

Sorry for such a long hiatus (again), but I've got a stable job with privacy in my living situation now.

>>3940098
Thanks anon.

Tonight I plan to run until about 5 PM, but I should be continuing at about 5-6 PM tomorrow.

I'll give updates on twitter at least a couple hours before each continuation.

While you're going through the seals for your jutsu, Himawari observes you. Her brow furrows slightly when you complete the technique. From her perspective, it must appear as if you're being coated in some sort of chakra based armor. The liquid perspires from your skin.

She begins to circle you, taking slow, careful steps. You keep up your rhythmic stance, ready to react at a moment's notice.

Her stance is still the same. Low and rooted to the ground. It catches you off guard, slightly, when a burst of air seems to explode from her heel and send her flying forward at a great speed.

Himawari's palm comes flying directly at your face, choosing to go for a direct attack as opposed to any special tactics. You roll under the blow, stepping around her. As soon as she touches down on the ground, she twirls and launches off yet again. However, this time she goes diagonally up into the air.

Just as you've landed from your dodge, she suddenly launches back down to you with a flying kick. The speeds of her attacks are far greater than you had anticipated. It seems as if she's using Wind Style to boost her movements.

Of course, you're no slouch either in speed. Heightening your concentration, you narrowly avoid the kick by a hair's breadth, stepping to the side. By the time she hits the ground and begins to reset her stance, you step back in and send a punch at her temple from the left.

She quickly shoots her palm up, and it impacts your elbow. Pain shoots through your arm, though thankfully her blow is deflected somewhat and slips off. If you hadn't used your Soap Style technique, you probably would have lost function of your arm in that moment.

Whereas Mari's blows are exceedingly precise, Himawari seems to completely destroy the chakra gates with power.

Taking a leap back, you reflect on the data you've gathered. Overall, your speed is still superior. She can move in straight lines to attack, but you're capable of circling, and countering. However, her Byakugan makes sneak attacks from any angle exceedingly difficult. While your punches would no doubt cause great harm if they landed, her defense seems nigh impregnable. Without even using the Rotation.

If you used Ephemeral, she would be able to see it coming based off of the movement of the Chakra in your system.

How do you want to proceed?

>A. Use the Summoning Jutsu, and work with Danpei to attack her from multiple angles. He uses Ninjutsu while you use your Genjutsu.
>B. Use the Water Clone Jutsu as a diversion, and try to set up your Paralyzing Bells technique.
>C. Try to poison her with ranged weapons, and keep moving. Do your best Hit-and-Run tactic.

>C. Try to poison her with ranged weapons, and keep moving. Do your best Hit-and-Run tactic.
She'd easily be able to see through the clones and Summons would be a waste of time if she could just use Rotation.
Best to use hit and run.

Before she can attack again, you take out fistfuls of senbon and poison them with your generic vials. Instead of your rhythmic bobbing stance, you drop down low and take a similar stance to Himawari.

You intend to react as quickly as you can. She bursts off to meet you, dashing in a straight line. With a flick of the wrist, you let a poison senbon loose at her core. She brings up her palm, and a concise burst of chakra deflects the needle into the grass. As she comes to meet you, she folds her arms together and tightly spins in place like an ice skater.

This quickly becomes a full sized, mid air rotation. It barrels at you, ripping apart the ground. Dashing to the side yet again, you flick several needles as the technique stops.

It's going to be hard, even like this. She weaves under the attacks and starts rocketing towards you again. Just as your feet are about to touch the ground, she appears in front of you. Her palm is shooting upwards, and the two of you lock eyes for a brief moment.

Gripping a single senbon tightly in your hand, your perception seems to slow down as your concentration is pushed to it's utmost limits. The palm flying at your chest will equal total incapacitate. Attacking her after she completes her attack doesn't seem to be working at all.

You're reminded of the intense pressure that Shozuku, the leader of the Jashinists, would place on you with his reckless rushes. Just like back then, your only choice is to face down the onslaught.

Although her attack started first, you begin moving your hand forward to stab her midsection with the needle. You clench your teeth in anticipation of the blow she's about to deliver, and try to twist your torso out of the way, bringing your shoulder back.

Your arm comes forward, the needle sticking itself through her clothing and striking the ribs. However, her palm glances off of your ribs. The explosion of chakra is somewhat diluted by her slipping, but you're still sent spinning out of control.

Tumbling off of the ground, you quickly return to your feet and look up to see her pulling out the single senbon. Himawari frowns. "My bro is right. You are annoying to fight!"

The generic poison is fairly weak, especially with one dose. But it's a start.

You grin. "That means I'm doing something, right, huh?"

Wiping the sweat off of your brow, you hunker down yet again. The single dose won't slow her down very much, but you might be able to get more in. Although, doing so in the same fashion is going to be dangerous. Your ribs are seriously aching right now...

---

That's all for tonight folks. We'll continue tomorrow, around 5-6 PM. I'll make a twitter post before doing so. Thank you for joining me yet again!

There are six poisoned senbon left in your hands.

Himawari is specially suited to dealing with your attacks. It's clear to you how hard she's worked on improving her Taijutsu while you were away. You've just delivered a single dose of the generic type of poison.

It's effective at depleting physical stamina. However, the Uzumaki are known for their extraordinary chakra pools and physical toughness. Her Byakugan is going to make getting a surprise attack difficult, as well.

Your Genjutsu would be effective, if you could somehow manage to land it. You've managed to deflect a couple of her attacks with your Soap Style: Soften. Of course, your elbow and your ribs are still aching. Her raw power certainly exceeds Mari, at the cost of accuracy and overall speed.

Using a technique she isn't familiar with could work. It certainly helped to push Mari back when you were thrust into a corner. Your Soap Style techniques require a considerable amount of chakra, however.

She's preparing to attack again. Her pace will likely increase.

What do you want to do?

>A. Wait until the last possible moment, and use the Afterimage Technique to try and poison her more.
>B. Duel her speed with your Jet Sheath. She'll likely be able to block your counter with a Rotation, but it could serve to tire her out.
>C. Send several Water Clones after her, and wait to see what she does. She could have new techniques you don't know about.
>>
>>3941563
>>A. Wait until the last possible moment, and use the Afterimage Technique to try and poison her more.
>>
>>3941563
D. Get some distance from her with your jet sheathe in order to try and get a hidden mist jutsu out. It would block her Byakugan. bonus if she uses rotation to try and block an attack that is not coming.(chakra infused mist means she cannot see through it, so she either spams rotation to remove it which is a LOT more chakra intensive or we level the playing field LoS wise)
>>
>>3941571
Oh that's true! I forgot the hidden mist works like that
>>
>>3941571
Definitely this as I forgot we knew hidden mist.
>>
>>3941563
>D. Send some Water Clones after her as a distraction and get some distance from her with your jet sheathe in order to try and get a hidden mist jutsu out.
>>
>>3941571
Support. Does she even know rotation? If she does, that's a drain on her chakra and a delaying tactic while the poison kicks in, and if not we can throw senbon at her while shrouded in the mist.
>>
>>3941579
She does now Rotation, as well as two variations of it unique to her.

She can do a mid-air rotation, and a Rotation-Rasengan combination technique. Essentially she creates a Rotation sphere around her, and thrusts it forward as a huge projectile.
>>
>>3941576
>>3941572
It's a freaking useful jutsu that's easiest on chakra but fucks eye users hard and passively refills itself easily. It's an amazing technique we should have used on mari.
>>
>>3941581
We tried using it on Sarada earlier, she just blew it all away with enhanced strength.
>>
>>3941583
Then we used it poorly, typically the only way to remove it is a huge chakra expenditure or ganking the caster.

Naw, it was just countered. If the person has a way to easily disperse the mist than it's only really good for momentarily delaying them, as well as sapping their energy a bit(depending on what method they go about dispersing the mist).
>>
You put your hands down onto the mechanical sheath of your sword. The pressure-building mechanism is activated, and after a few moments, it beeps to indicate that it's prepared. A small light turns green.

Himawari has no doubt seen it before, so she's a little wary of dashing directly in. She holds out a single palm.

The air swirls around her briefly, coalescing into her hand. A bright blue orb is formed. Thrusting it forward, the ball suddenly appears to disperse. You hunker down and focus, paying attention to the swaying grass as the invisible projectile flies towards you. The Vanishing Rasengan is an original technique of Boruto's, and it seems that she's mastered it as well. The ball curves to the left, before heading back to your direction.

If you hadn't sparred with Boruto so much, you might not have been able to see the attack coming. It's elusive in nature, and difficult to deal with when it isn't coming head on. You dash forward at top speed, hands held tightly on your sheath. Himawari sees you coming, and draws two kunai from her bag just as you unleash your Jet Sheath.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcshz4lBJPQ

You leap just slightly, the extra burst of speed propelling you forward at an upward tilt. Your blade crashes into her two knives, scattering sparks everywhere and blowing them out of her hands. You spin in the air, and quickly sheath your sword and perform the seals for the Hidden Mist Jutsu.

Just as you land, the technique starts to activate. The fog of the morning intensifies, enhanced by your chakra. Himawari turns to you, and grins. She looks both impressed, and frustrated. "Crap..."

You stand still as your chakra signature vanishes into the mist.

She forms seals, and uses the Wind Style: Great Breakthrough technique. A forward explosion of air cuts through the mist, centered on your location. It blows it away in a straight line. You're already gone, however. It only takes a moment for the mist to roll back in and cover the spot. If she knew the Air Palm technique, she might be capable of attacking quickly enough to disperse the mist, but forming seals simply takes too long.

She looks all around her, when suddenly, a Water Clone of you leaps and attacks from above, wielding your short curved sword.

She steps to the side, dodging the slice and pushing her palm into the clone's face, destroying it in a splash of water.

Behind her, various fireballs from your Phoenix Flower Jutsu rain in. As she's stepping around weaving between then, another clone runs directly at her with a punch.
>>
This prompts her to use the Rotation, blowing away the clone, the fireballs, and a bit of the Mist surrounding her. However, due to the speeds she's spinning at, she's also momentarily blinded. Once her Rotation ends, she finds you standing in front of her.

Pointing a single finger directly at her eye.

"Ephemeral."

The illusion you cast on her is fairly simple. It's just, standing in front of her. She tries to fight and strike you with her palm, but it merely phases through your body. Your illusion chuckles. "Hehe, sorry. The fight's over now. I'll release you in a second, but don't move too quickly or you might get hurt."

At once, you release it. She gasps, and flinches to move. However, the pinprick of a kunai against her throat forces her to pause.

She's panting. "Well then... I didn't think there'd be that much of a difference between us."

You drop the kunai, and walk around her. She chuckles. "You're really something, Takashi. You seem like you're good at just about everything, now."

>A. I only have the people I trained with to thank. I did a lot of losing to get this good!
>B. You're really strong yourself. I just happened to have a good counter for your Byakugan, that let me use my other techniques.

You shrug. "You're really strong yourself. I just happened to have a good counter to your Byakugan. That really let me bring out my other moves."

She beams. "Well, I know what to work on now. I never sparred with many Water release users, so I didn't even think about the Hidden Mist Jutsu. What was that one jutsu you used at the start, by the way? I couldn't land a clean hit on you!"

It takes a considerable amount of effort to restrain yourself from making a 'clean' pun, but you somehow manage. "It's one of the new techniques I've come up with. I learned Boil Release to counteract Shozuku's Acid techniques, and I created a few Soap techniques out of that. This one is called Soften. I cover myself in a thin layer of soap, to reduce the impact of blunt damage. Since your Gentle Fist pierces the hardened skin on my limbs, I needed something to survive in close range."

Her eyes sparkle for a moment. "Boy, all of your techniques are so smart. Boruto and my Dad still just completely overpower everything."

You grin. "Well, Boruto's a monster in his own right. Nine times out of ten in our one on one spars, he beats me at this point..."

Shooting up a thumbs up, you rub the back of your head. "Of course, I'll recreate the tournament finale sometime! I just gotta figure him out."

She nods, excited. "I'm sure you will! Thanks for the training, I'm gonna go ask my Mom about some techniques and stuff now!"

You wave goodbye as she runs off, and you head back into town yourself after cooling down with some stretches.

On your way back, you run into a comical sight...

Hanto is totally wasted, and attempting to pay for a meal at Ichiraku Ramen. It's about 1 in the afternoon, as well. He seems to be searching for his wallet, but might have dropped it.

Ah, of course! Your Sensei is in need of some help. You don't really quite approve of his excessive drinking habits, but he's still your teacher. "Yo!" you say, quickly approaching with light steps. The man working at the Ramen stand has his arms crossed, and is looking impatient. "Hey there, Takeshi. Maybe you can help Hanto here find his money."

Your teacher stumbles, bumping you in the chest with his shoulder. He's actually a couple of inches shorter than you, you now realize. He also reeks of booze, naturally. He's feeling around in his pockets. "I couldshwear I jus had it... gimme a minute.. Don't worryboutit Takeshii, I'll find it."

He seems pretty sloshed. Thankfully, you notice one pocket in the back that he hasn't unlatched yet. It's the one that also holds his kunai. Reaching out a hand, you flick it open and find the wallet!

You hand it to him with a smile. "Here you go, Hanto!"

He sighs. "Huh, of coursh ish in the one place I dun check... Thank buddy..."

Hanto pays for his food, and turns away. He wraps an arm around your neck, and starts to walk. "Help me get outta here, I don't even know this shit.."

Thankfully, you know where he lives. You're prepared to help him get home. At least, until you round the block and all of a sudden he sobers up. Hanto stands up straight, and glares at you, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're a little too honest for your own good sometimes, kid."

>A. Well, it's good to see you haven't changed much at least...

"Uhh.. Crap. Sorry Sensei, I thought you needed some help."

He waves it off. "It's fine, it's fine. I was just brushing up on my acting skills."

You blink. "You weren't trying to get out of paying?"

Hanto rolls his eyes. "They're not necessarily exclusive, you goober. But whatever, I wanted to talk to you anyways. It's a good thing you showed up." He looks you up and down quickly. "Were you sparring someone recently? I can tell you were sweating a bit. You should use booze to cover it up like me."

On cue, he takes a swig from his flask. It's hard to tell whether he's actually drunk or not, sometimes.

You nod. "Himawari Uzumaki. She's gotten a lot stronger! She's better at both Taijutsu and Ninjuts. Just what I'd expect from the Hokage's daughter."

He grins. "Of course, you still beat her, didn't you?"

Scratching your face, you blush. "Well, I did. It just happens that the Hidden Mist Jutsu was good against her Byakugan."

He slaps your back. "Shaddup! That jutsu was just a part of your repertoire! It's the fact that it works good with your other moves that makes it great. But look, this isn't what I wanted to talk about. How's your fire style jutsu been coming along?"

You blink. "Fire Style? I know a handful, I'd say I'm adequate with it."

He smiles. "Your Taijutsu is pretty darn good too now, huh? You've got your Brother's style written all over your body. As well as that speed. I know you've got a mission coming up, but when you get back, I think it's finally time for some one on one training between us."

A realization crosses your mind. "The Dragon Boxing!"

Dragon Boxing is Hanto's family style, that combines Fire style Ninjutsu with aggressive Taijutsu. Your team-mate Kichiro is very skilled with it as well. It could make a powerful addition to your style.

I dunno if we'll have time to learn that on top of Biol release as well as everything else we have to innovate on. Boil release in particular is something we need to work on, we only got 3 techniques out of the proposed like... 12 I think.

Also, Dragon Boxing doesn't really fit our fighting style at all. Way too up close, too much investment on it working and if it doesn't we're fucked.
>>
>>3941739
>>3941731
Conversely this is the evolution of our taijutsu, which is a thing that is always good to have. it'll also improve our fire mastery which is needed for boil release.
This will make boil research even easier in the long run, and give us even more options which is takshi's only real way to keep up with his fellows, by being the swiss army knife of 10,000 counters.

"Yeah! That sounds like it could be pretty useful."

Hanto smiles warmly. Your Sensei pats you on the back, almost knocking you off balance. He really is extremely strong for his size, physically. Not to mention what a titan Kichiro is. You wonder if this training will help to boost your own strength even more.

He keeps walking with you, on the way to his home. "So, you're going to the Grass country in a couple days, eh?"

"Yup. Me, Ai, and Inojin are the squad for this mission. Apparently there are some Jashinists left over, who've formed small bands."

Hanto sighs.

The two of you have moved off of the main road, into a smaller one where the tall buildings cast shadows over the street. The city is abuzz in the distance, and the wind can't be felt here. Your teacher turns to you, a frown on his face.

"If I tell you something, can you keep it a secret?"

You nod. Hanto's never seemed this serious, unless something dangerous was going on. "Of course."

Hanto turns, and steps towards you. "Seriously, though. There's no one you'd be able to tell. Not even your own brother, or Ai or Kichiro. I'm only going to tell this to you. Don't even mention it to the Hokage. If it gets found out I've spilled this, I could end up in prison. I've never been one for the rules..."

You nod. "Okay. I promise, Sensei. What is it?"

"Shozuku is still alive."

Everything is quiet for just a moment. In the distance, two cats sound like they're fighting. It breaks the tension in the air long enough for you to respond. "What... What do you mean? I stabbed him in the brain with a knife! I saw him go completely limp! You're telling me he got away!?"

He shakes his head. "He didn't get away. He was captured, in the aftermath. They took his body in to be sure that he was dead. He suffered severe brain damage, and is in maximum security holdings. Only the Jounin directly involved in the mission, and the Hokage, are aware of this. Naturally the ANBU are looking after him. He's how we managed to get information about the remaining cultists. Interrogation on what's left of his mind."

You grumble. "You're old, right? Aren't people supposed to stay dead? Does this happen all the time?"

Hanto shrugs. "Assholes tend to last the longest. I can't believe Orochimaru is still around, personally. I mean, what the hell? Right? The man did more harm than Shozuku and literally killed a Hokage."

"..."

Your sensei crosses his arms. "Yeah. Exactly."

"I appreciate the honesty, but why tell me this if the situation is handled? I get that you trust me, but do I really need to know this?"

The Jounin looks up at the sky, between the tall buildings. "There's more to it than what I've just told you. I wanted to share what I thought was appropriate, but it's still top secret."

You nod. "Well.. I guess I can accept that. I don't really know what to make of it."

He pulls out a cigarette, and lights it up with a blue flame from his thumb. "Well, maybe I just wanted to get it off my chest. I couldn't exactly tell Kichiro, for obvious reasons, and I wouldn't want Ai to know either. That left you, buddy."

You chuckle. "Thanks. Think your drunk ass can make it home from here?"

He looks back. "I think so. Go get some rest, kiddo. Your mission isn't gonna be an easy one just because you've been playing around outside the gates!"

You smile. "Yes sir!"

---

That's all for tonight everyone. I intend to run on Wednesday night, around 6 PM. We'll be starting the new mission then. I'll be around to answer some questions for a bit.
>>
>>3941794
Sure. Thanks for the run Mini, see you Wednesday.

Just a couple of things I've been curious about for a long time, In regards to Ephemeral.

First, why not any other genjutsu? We got a host of other ninjutsu taught to us and we invented three, but Is there some reason we were only taught the one genjutsu after all this time? Secondly, If he tortured us with It for so long does that mean we have any kind of resistance to genjutsu In a mental sense? Are we accustomed to nightmarish or painful experiences in regards to genjutsu then to some degree? Or just In general now?
>>
>>3941794
When are we gonna have to opportunity to workshop and develop some Boil release jutsu? We had that long ass list of jutsu ideas, I'll look for it and repost, how long will it take to develop them into reality?
Now that the timeskip has happened, how long till you think we'll hit romantic subplots?
>>
>>3941804
Here's the list.
Lethal attack Jutsu
>Melting Mist Jutsu
>Napalm Bullet Jutsu
>Soap Bullet Jutsu
>Soap Bomb Jutsu
>Soap Dragon Jutsu
>Soap Senbon Jutsu (upon penetration or being blocked they revert into their corrosive base form)
>Soap String Jutsu (a Sticky Binding rope/string that when broken reverts into it's corrosive form)

Nonlethal
>Soap Layer Jutsu (cover an object/person in a thin layer of slippery soap, various uses but could also nulify limited acid attacks)
>Soap Coat Jutsu (cover something in a hard/thicker layer of soap, only real use is near totally neutralizing acid jutsus. But it would counter then very hard)
>Alcoholic Mist Jutsu (many extremely varied and deadly uses, No sane Fire user would cast flame jutsu while inside of it)
>Water Destruction Jutsu (Certain powerful basic compounds will literally separate the Hydrogen and oxygen of water upon being introduced) (Destroy a water attack coming at you and then immediately follow up with Great Fireball jutsu for a massive explosion)
>Bubble Clone Jutsu (Clones that explode in a POP of concussive force when destroyed)
>Soap Binding Jutsu (Create solid and Hardened soap as bindings (or anything really) for transporting prisoners, can be sticky or slippery)
>>
>>3941802
Ephemeral is really one of the best Genjutsu, period. It has an easy trigger of activation, and the flexibility of it's usage can be extremely subtle. If you catch someone with it, you basically get a free hit on them unless they can break the illusion before you slit their throat.

Sasuke chose that above all others for you. He helped you learn some more Fire Jutsu, and you trained your Boil release techniques, Taijutsu, and your brother's limb hardening. As well as improving your speed as much as possible.

the idea was to slightly improve on what made you good, your balanced abilities, and to greatly improve what made you great, your ability to trap the opponent into checkmate. That's why he pushed Ephemeral so hard.

As for resistance to Genjutsu, you are certainly very good at recognizing when you're in a Genjutsu now. It's not so much a specific resistance as the ability to detect flaws in an illusion simply from experience. Your powers of observation have gone up quite a bit.

>>3941804
There's going to be a big chance to train later on. When you get back from this mission, the first major plot of the Quest will start rolling. That's going to include some pretty heavy training sequences.

As for romantic subplots, it's going to be up to you guys to push for them. All of the girls you know are going to be available, pretty much. Whether or not that works it is a different story, but you'll have to see for yourselves

>>
>>3941814
Ah, I was more reference In the sense not that we could resist a genjutsu entirely, neutralizing It, but more was talking about how genjutsu tend to be able to inflict excruciating effects on the mind through pain and fear. I was just wondering If Takeshi might have a bit easier time being on the receiving end In the future, having long familiarity with Sasuke's creativity in genjutsu torture.

That Is good to know that we're quite familiar when we're under the effects of a genjutsu now though.

Can I have a rough estimate on how long It took over the timeskip to make our jutsu's? How long for the first, which was which one and how long for the next and such. I'm just trying to get an estimate for things, since even though we're far more experienced with Boil style in particular now and have exceptional chakra control, making Jutsu's takes time and I'm trying to gauge whether we should bother to go for making more Boil style or just trying to pick up a host of jutsu to expand our moveset and tackling the issue a bit later when both our Ninjutsu and chakra control are a bit higher, not to mention It might be desirable until we've gotten a good few texts on jutsumaking and more advanced chakra theory read up on, which might be best at that point to wait until we hit Jonin and abuse shadow clones to cut the time of text based endeavors massively.

tl;dr, efficiency is key when we need to out-train a bunch of genetic monsters.
>>
>>3941835
Let's see, you were in timeskip for roughly 2.5 years

Hardening your limbs took about two full years. Very gradual process. Mastering your speed also took roughly the same time.

The first application of your Soap Style was Soften. That took about four months to learn, and then Spray took about four as well. Bubble Bomb took considerably longer, at seven months. Of course, you weren't focusing on just one jutsu at a time during this. You also learned several water type jutsu and a new fire type jutsu, and improved your healing abilities. Ephemeral took up the last year of your training.

Learning new jutsu is still going to be really difficult, but focusing down on Boil Release should make it possible to figure things out faster.

Of course, I have ideas in the future to help progress your training quicker. One of them is a training arc similar to before the Chunin Exam tournament. Another is eventually learning Shadow Clones, as you mentioned.

The other ideas are more secretive :)

The next couple of days are spent quietly, by yourself. You choose to use the time to relax in your home, reading your favorite Manga and watching movies that you've missed out on while away. Of course, you also eat plenty of your favorite foods. It feels kind of nice to simply relax after the last few years of training. The days go by like one big sigh.

Naturally, there are also times that you simply get too restless and perform basic exercises in your room.

You remember a point in your life where you would have found great difficulty in performing several sets of push ups. Now, you lift yourself off of a single finger pointed into the floor.

On the final night before your mission, you make a short visit to your parent's shrine in their old room. Looking at their photos always inspires a mix of emotion.

The day arrives, and you're the first to the village gates. The sun has barely risen, and you can see your breath in the morning air. You're wearing your navy blue spandex suit underneath your clothing. Standard dark blue shinobi pants and shoes, a green flak jacket vest. You leave your blue jacket at home, seeing as how it's a little tight over your lightly armored vest. Underneath that, you have a black T-shirt, and the navy blue sleeves of the spandex suit (A modified design of Rock Lee's) go up to your wrists.

On your side is your Jet Sheath, and in your various pockets are all of your ninja tools. Poisons, soldier pills, and different types of weapons. You also come equipped with your two Fuuma Shuriken, folded up.

Inojin arrives shortly after you. He has a long blonde ponytail now, as is custom in the Yamanaka clan. On his back is a scroll, used for his Super Beast Imitating Drawing. A versatile technique used by his father.

He gives a short wave. In the distance behind him, approaches Ai. She looks the same as ever.

>A. Hey guys. We ready to do this thing?

"Hey guys. We ready to do this thing?"

Ai yawns. "Let's slit some throats."

Inojin pulls out a scroll, ignoring her comment. He unfurls it, displaying a map of the continent. "First we'll have to get to the Grass Country. It's to the northwest. Should only take a few hours for us to reach the border. Of course, I've heard the two of you are pretty quick. If you want to, we can make things fast!"

He puts away the map, and grabs the larger scroll on his back. Unfurling it, he quickly flashes his holstered paintbrush across the paper. A hand seal later, and a large hawk is resting in front of everyone. It's clearly a highly stylized drawing, but in three dimensions. It's quite vexing to look at for you. Inojin chuckles as the two of you stare in bewilderment. "You can touch it, if you want. It's pretty much just like a real bird, though it'll vanish when it runs out of the chakra that powers it."

Ai and you simultaneously stroke the bird's neck, feeling soft feathers despite it's flat appearance. Ai blinks. "Sometimes I think there are no limits to what Jutsu can accomplish. It's like magic, or something."

You nod, feeling the bird. "Yeah, this is basically magic. We're wizards."

Inojin shrugs. "Yeah, pretty much. Sneaky wizards, sometimes. You two more sneaky than most. Well, we ready to get going?"

Everyone nods, and the three of you take off for the border. It's an uneventful journey, aside from you and Ai having some fun leaping between the trees and trying to overtake one another.

"Speed defines the winner." was Sasuke's philosophy. Everyone on your little team grew quite fast. Of course, you had a head start in the beginning, but as usual, the more talented three caught up to you. It took every last drop of effort to maintain the pace, and not be overtaken.

Inojin keeps high in the sky, only having to refresh his Bird once along the path. You take a mental note that they can last for quite a while.

Finally, you arrive at the border of the Fire country and the Grass country. Waiting for you is a somewhat familiar sight. Leading two other Grass Chunin, is the infamous S.
>>
He's tall, with medium length brown hair that's swept back. His eyes are as serious as ever, and compared to the last time you saw him, his build has bulked out quite a bit. Of course, he still moves with the easy grace of a large cat. The two of you are similar in height now, although he's clearly heavier. You still remember your time against him in the Forest of Death, during your exams. He seemed nearly unstoppable in one on one combat, back then.

Ai managed to defeat him in her preliminaries, thanks to her clan's unique jutsu. S is smoking a cigarette.

Inojin lands, and your squad approaches his. He gives a little wave. "Well, you didn't keep us waiting. We only just arrived here ourselves, and we had a much shorter trip than you. It's good to see you two again. We never got much of a chance to talk before. Nice to meet you as well, Mr. Yamanaka."

Your friend chuckles lightly. "Ahh, you can just call me Inojin. Mister uh... S."

S smirks. "Yeah, strange name, I know. We have codenames for security purposes. Anyways, I suppose we should get to discussing the mission at hand."

Ai looks around. The terrain is much different than your home country. Though there is a light forest behind you, in front of you the roads only lead to massive plains. It's midday, and the sun is high in the sky. The tall grass all around seems like an endless ocean. "I suppose you'll be guiding us, then." she says.

He nods. "That's right. Interestingly enough, though, your superiors were the ones who informed us of the Jashinist remnants. The leaf has it's ways, huh?"

>A. Mr. S! I've been meaning to ask you, where the heck did you get a cardboard box in the forest, back then?

Inojin laughs a little bit in response to S's comment about the Leaf. "We're not even sure how we got the information, exactly. Top secret stuff."

Unconsciously, you take a glance at Ai. She's surveying the land still.

"Hopefully we're coming up on the last of these Jashinists. Do you know if they still have their immortality?"

S shakes his head. "Seems not. If they do, it's probably restricted to their leaders. The rumor is that ever since Shozuku got iced, they all lost it at the same time. Good work, by the way."

Ai perks up. "How did it work, though? Based on our information about Hidan, the previous man favored by Jashin, his immortality seemed to be everlasting. As well as restricted to him, personally. Where did it come from?"

Inojin sighs. "All signs point in the direction of Jashin being a real God. Which makes me pretty uncomfortable, personally."

You think for a few moments, and give your own take on it. "If I had to guess, Jashin thought it would be fun to give them immortality, and then he later decided it would be fun to take it away. He thrives off of suffering of all, including his followers."

S smirks. "Well, I guess we're going to give him a little bit of entertainment today. Let's get moving, everyone. The base is underground, with several entrances. We'll get there and formulate an entry strategy."

The two Chunin that S is leading go ahead of the group, into the tall grass. S watches carefully, and explains. "They'll be scouting things ahead for us. They'll warn us if we're going to run into something."

About forty minutes later, and your group is peaking through a clearing in the expansive grass prairies. There's a single entrance to a bunker, built into the side of the hill. In the distance is a tree, in another small clearing.

"This is the front, and the other side is the back entrances. As far as we know from our scouting reports, this is all their is. Their numbers shouldn't be more than fifty, mostly bandits, with few actual Shinobi. No one stronger than a Chunin. My boys will stay out here as lookouts. We should split up into two man teams."

You perk up slightly, whispering. "Oh, Mr. S. I was meaning to ask you. Where the heck did you get a cardboard box?"

He chuckles, his voice deep and gravelly. His demeanor is quite different from the foe you once fought. He's very relaxed. "Well, some people keep knives in their scrolls. I keep boxes. Inconspicuous."

You shrug. True enough.

"Me and Ai will take the front. We have a lot of experience working together."

Inojin chuckles. "Well, It's me and Mr. S then in the rear."

S stares out at the gate guards. "Alright. You two can be as loud as you want, as long as you think you can handle the heat. We'll meet in the middle... Hopefully."

He tells the Chunin behind you to go get backup if you're not out before thirty minutes.

Inojin and him both head to the rear, and are waiting on your move to enter. One of the Chunin follows the B team, and the one with you says that once you initiate, through stealth or not, he'll be able to communicate to the other Chunin that the attack is on.

You and Ai share a small smile, and look back at the entrance to the bunker. It's a steel door leading into the side of the small hill, surrounded by concrete walls. It probably has numerous hallways and rooms inside. Standing nearby, are two gate guards. One is wielding a sword, and the other a spear. As far as you can tell, they don't look like Shinobi, just bandits. It should be fairly trivial for you to break in.

But Mari is so smug. She finally beat us...

In a Taijutsu fight. When she's a Hyuuga.

With a couple seals, you place the False Sound genjutsu on Ai. It allows you to create auditory illusions, but you once realized you could re-purpose it as a communication tool. Mentally, you communicate your plan to her. It only takes a few moments for the both of you to circle around the clearing before you line up your shots.

Counting down from 3, you both throw on one.

Your kunai and hers stab into their throats at the same moment, blood spraying as they gurgle. The two bandits turn to look at each other with bulging eyes, and see the two of you come out of the grass.

Searching their bodies, you find a key for the iron door. It creaks open, heavy and impossibly loud. You and Ai slink through the hallway, which is angled directly down for quite a bit until reaching flat ground. The hallway is illuminated by electricity.

Someone around the corner ahead is speaking. "Did the door just open? I'm gonna go check it out. I'll be right back. No one's supposed to be showing up today, we had a supply run just a couple days ago."

A bandit, or possibly a shinobi, is heading your way. You and Ai look at each other. How do you want to handle this?

>A. Both of you use the Transformation Jutsu to turn into the bandits you just killed. Silently kill this one, and then transform into his ally and survey the area past this corner. Keep False Sound active so you can communicate to Ai what you're seeing.
>B. Use Water Style: Raging Waves to flood the hall ahead with water. Have Ai use a lightning jutsu to electrocute them.
>C. Leap onto the cieling, and use your Chakra to stick to it and go around the corner. See if you can find a better angle to attack from.

I too understand the hilarity of her win post-fight

In terms of waifus I'm personally at:
1) Salad
2)Himawari
3) Mari

Interms of Takashi's future development I'm very satisfied with the current stuff that's been thought of

Dragon Boxing will give MC a superior style to the conventional taijutsu he's been trained in, makes much better use of his bro's hardened limb conditioning, and improves Tai, physical stats, and fire jutsu.

Further improving our water and fire jutsu/learning more fire/water jutsu to convert into boil jutsu will push our ninjutsu to a whole new level, and all the creative ideas taking advantage of Boil Release's unique nature will make Takashi an absolute monster in the long run.

Genjytsu is already at a great level and learning more to mix and match with our current kit will only make it better.

In general Takashi is set to be an incredibly powerful ninja if we stick to our training regiment in the futurr.

C'mon man, I get that she's cute but we got nothing in terms of chemistry so far. That could change, but the fact that so much has happened with Mari and Salad has kinda left her in the dust.

Mari was the basis for Takeshi to start taking things seriously, the first great fight of the quest, one of the best rematches that was built up super well, and (personally) seems like the best choice from a story perspective. I can't fault you for Salad though, she's a strong contender.

In terms of real(read: not waifu) shit though, I'm kinda split on Dragon Boxing. Utility's great, but I'm worried we're gonna be a Jack of All Trades Master of None with that lack of innovation in Biol Release so far. We only got 3 jutsu so far, and nothing that diverges at all from soap. We really need to double down on that shit.

I have mentioned something similar to that before, though not in so many words.

Trying to put all your points into Ninjutsu, means the super talented Ninjutsu masters will have a heavy edge.

Same with Taijutsu, and Genjutsu.

Of course, you'll have time to learn both more Boil and Dragon Boxing. Since both use the fire element, which you have the least experience in, relatively, it will help overall

>Jack of All Trades Master of None
People always see this as a bad thing because it's actually a misquote, or at least an incomplete quote.

"A Jack of all trades is a master of none, but is oftentimes better than a master of one"

Specialization is fine...veey early in when you really only have time to develop a handful of abilities, but with age and experience it's the Renaissance man that wins out in the end
>>
>>3944094
Sure but if learning dragon boxing both cover our slowly growing physical weaknesses like >>3944087 pointed out AND improves our skill in fire jutsu which is part of the foundation of Boil release AND gives us far more to work with in clise combat scenarios then it can only be a plus. Boil Release is a priority for sure, but it's a longterm priority we'll be giving focus to for probably the entirety of the quest. While we do that pushing our other skills up is also important so we keep Takashi's versatility honed.

Remember we're not really a specialized build, we're not purely a jutsu focus or a hyperintelligent genius that can only do smart things, Takashi's big thing is that he builds up all of his skills and uses them in clever way.
>>
>>3944095
Still, us leaving Boil underdeveloped isn't a good idea, that's the main thing I'm trying to get across.
>>
>>3944104
While that isn't untrue, I think you're overestimating how much time dragon boxing training will take away from boil release training, and underestimating the value it has for both honing our boil release and keeping Takeshi competative with the rest of his peers.
>>
Going through a number of seals, you take a deep breath and exhale a flowing stream of water. You and Ai leap up onto the walls and stick to them. The approaching bandit yells out as he's swept up in the current, as does his friend.

Once she believes they're both soaked, Ai fires a Lightning Ball directly into the stream. Both of you cover your eyes, and a couple screams can be heard in the distance.

You both rush down, and find them laying on the ground. The water disperses down the rest of the complex, feeding into a number of rooms on the side. Like a hive of angry hornets, the bandits come out of the rooms armed with weapons and shouting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLHdJIat0ZM

As quickly as you can, you try to pick out which enemies are Shinobi based on their movements and reactions to you and Ai. Overall, in this section of the complex, there look to be about twenty bandits. Three or four of them are shinobi, if you had to guess. Glancing over at Ai, you see her prepare a powerful combination of Jutsu that you're quite familiar with. If you had to put it into simple terms when thinking of her abilities, she's like a unique mixture of you and Sarada, minus the medical techniques.

Her pupils begin to rapidly bounce around, until they're moving in such a blur that her eyes appear to be pure white. The Tanketsu, Eye of Heaven, is a technique taught to her by the Sixth Hokage. In terms of enhancing reactions, it's comparable to the Sharingan.
>>
>>3944109
I suppose, but I'm thinking about like, researching how to make Napalm and how long that's gonna take. Boil release encompasses all of Chemistry, so we're gonna have to learn chemistry if we want to be good.
>>
>>3944115
Using the Four Witches technique, a second pair of arms sprouts from her back, the bones crack and flesh warping to accommodate it. She actually has two holes on the back of her shirt, for a seamless exit. On top of all this, she draws four Kunai, and begins to channel Lightning chakra through it.

"Chidori Current. Chidori Sharp Spear."

The electricity on her weapons extends, and she's now holding four lightning katana in her hands. You take up a fighting stance, and feel a little underwhelming in comparison for the moment. The current combination of techniques she's using is a large reason why you haven't defeated Ai in one on one combat in years.

Before she attacks, you go through signs of your own and use the Dragon Fire Jutsu. Stretching both hands outwards, you roar with all of your strength. The flames need a medium to travel through, and thankfully this hallway is narrow enough. Various kunai and shuriken were thrown your way, but the blast of fire sweeps through the main hall, scattering their forces. That took care of about ten of the twenty.

Ai shoots ahead of you, and one of the shinobi attempting to form handsigns has his hands cut off first, and then his head. She twirls and bounces from one foe to the next. You burst along at top speed as well, cracking your iron knuckles into two people, caving their faces in from the velocity of your attack.

Behind you, an enemy shinobi launches himself out of the thin layer of water on the ground using the Water Style: Hiding in Water technique. He's wielding a blade, and nearly swipes at your Achilles tendon before Ai impales him from afar, one of her lightning katanas extending several meters. It enters his midsection, and she swipes up and splits him in half.

From behind her, an enemy shinobi who had melded with the concrete wall sticks his torso out and goes to swing a huge fist at her. You use Shunshin to boost your speed to even higher levels, and thrust your fists up into his nose. Stunning him momentarily, you grab his neck and throw him out of the stone onto the ground.

Ai slices his head off.

The stench of blood and burnt flesh slowly starts to fill the complex.

Huh, yeah that seems pretty BS, four lightning katanas with sharingan reaction time? Ouch.

That said the best way to beat her would be obscuring her eyes and then blasting her with a strong long range jutsu she has no chance to dodge. Or genjtusu her for the same effect.
Strong close range and pressure, but a good zoner would ruin her.
>>
>>3944130
There's one important part of her Four Witches Jutsu that should be noted.

It essentially lets her use other Jutsu while her hands are occupied. Two hands with the lightning katanas, and the other two for... everything else she might know.
>>
>>3944118
Question could we alloy the fire typed Dragon boxing with the Water Chakra we have and our brothers style in order to create a new taijutsu style? Once we achieve mastery or sufficient skill in dragon boxing anyways? Maybe akin to the stuff Bang uses from OPM?

>>3944133
Yes gives her immense pressure, but I doubt that jutsu is cheap, and I doubt it'd be good for her to take too much damage like that or get poisoned given the extra strain her heart and it's chakra system would be under with those extra limbs.
>>
>>3944135
That sounds like it could be doable in the future.
>>
>>3944137
Actually ahs anyone studied the effects on the bodies that transformations like her do that are temp ones? Like how they deal with damage or heart/organ strain?
>>
>>3944140
It doesn't have detrimental effects until much later in life. Essentially her heart has to work on doubletime while it's active, but there's no sustained chakra cost once it's up. Her Chidori-branch jutsu are very hard on chakra, however. Especially with for swords at once. She generally sticks to two, but she wanted to be wary of surprise attacks here.

Tanketsu causes a moderate chakra drain and moderate physical toll. Her eyes will start to bleed akin to Mangekyo, if she uses it for too long. Though she has trained to alleviate this somewhat
>>
>>3944135
>alloy the fire typed Dragon boxing with the Water Chakra we have and our brothers style in order to create a new taijutsu style

What would that be? Like, would we be literally steaming, the water chakra enhancing us being evaporated for the sake of power or something?
>>
>>3944144
So a viable tactic to dealing with her is to basically wait her out and let her fall apart on her own. Issue is being fast enough to not get ganked.

Neat.

On another note, how hard would it be to modify some water techniques we know into boil techniques?

>>3944151
Water chakra flows as it's major component. So it'd have the explosive force of Fire and dragon boxing applied in such a way that it'd appear to moving smoothly and hitting opponents in places they do not expect a hit from or can easily counter.
>>
>>3944154
Turning water techniques into boiling water would just be a single jutsu that lets you do it to all water style techs for an added chakra cost.

That's actually one that would have reference material, so it wouldn't be too hard.
>>
>>3944164
Nah not boiling water
Boil style

Like turning making a Boil stlye: Bubble bullet jutsu

from water style: water bullet jutsu.

Several of the dieas for boils tyle were made from existing water techs, and I am wondering if making boil style variants would take less time to make them.
>>
>>3944168
ahh, I'd say not really, it'd still be very different
>>
>>3944343
So what'd you estimate on our time to make one while being able to really focus on it then?
>>
>>3944773
It depends on the strength of the technique, and whether or not you're pushing into a new aspect of Boil release.

For further Soap Style techs, B rank or lower would take a week or so, while A rank or higher could take weeks or maybe even months

For pushing into new fields, low rank techniques could take weeks, possibly more
>>
>>3944779
Hmm. While I'm certain we'll have plenty of stretches of time to create techniques of our own, this Is exactly why I was stating that we should hold off until we get a few more things under our belt.

1. Learn and master more jutsu.
2. Get our stamina higher.
3. Learn shadow clones
4. Get some tutoring on jutsu creation, from a person or from written texts. All jutsu's are made different, but there might be tips or strategies to make the process easier or faster in general.

If we know more jutsu, our experience with ninjutsu in general is broader and the increased familiarity makes our job easier, stamina makes It so we can work longer and attempt jutsu's with high chakra costs easier. Shadow clones would let us multi-task, particularly If we just have the clone learn some minor jutsu or study in the mean time that wouldn't require much chakra, and the clone dispelling itself would refund us most of the chakra spent to create It once we need it back.

So In my opinion I say we wait a while and spend our training efforts elsewhere before we truly dive into mastering Boil style, If only for the efficiency of saving precious time.
>>
Need to develop a signature genjutsu that triggers with the enemy seeing their reflection within a floating bubble.
>>
>>3945223
The Genjutsu apparently works like a line of Charka that goes from out finger and hits our opponent(according to the fight with Mari). So I'm not sure how we'd get a reflection to do that.
>>
>>3945369
Bullshit ninja magic. What you described is the Ephemeral technique but other Genjutsu have different delivery methods. It would be more like whatever the mass sleep technique is. But the ability to trap an opponent without having to make eye contact or have line of sight on them could be valuable. If they somehow figure out the trick it would still be tricky for them to avoid if there is 6 or so Genjutsu bubbles floating around the battlefield.
>>
>>3945369
>>3945223
Yeah, Genjutsu seems to work by having a direct line from caster to victim. The only thing I can think of like that is the infinite tsukuyomi.

Maybe casting loads of small bubbles or one massive one, but seems difficult and maybe a bit redundant considering we have the bells.
>>
maybe finagle a way so the bubbles make an audible pop noise? genjutsu can be auditory (Tayuya and her flute)

The two of you take a brief glance at your surroundings.

The bodies on the floor suffocate the air with the stench of their innards. The cuffs of your pants are stained in red. The only sound that can be heard is dripping blood, and your breathing. The two of you split up briefly and take a look inside each of the rooms in this hallway. As far as you can tell, this was the commons area of the facility. Primarily luxury items like radio and television, a pool table, and a mess hall.

You both meet up in the hallway again. Ai holds up a small map she found nearby.

"It looks like there's three main sections to this facility. The commons, which we're in now, the training rooms, and the barracks. The barracks are in the back. S and Inojin are probably going through it slowly and eliminating people one at a time. I guess we should push onto the training area."

You nod. "Seems that way."

As the two of you walk forward, something is bugging you.

Didn't S say that the cultists all lost their immortality when Shozuku died?

He isn't dead. However, they're still not immortal. Does that mean that Shozuku lost his immortal abilities when he was defeated?

Ai and you come out of the hallway after another turn and a long straight stretch. This part of the complex is an open area, with an arena similar to the one you took your Chunin preliminaries in. A rectangular room with platforms overlooking the center. On the other end of the room, on the other overlook, is the door to the barracks.

Standing in front of it is a tall, hooded figure. It's a large man, with ragged robes.

Probably one of the last Jashinist Shinobi. What do you want to do?

With several seals, you send out a single Haze Clone to jump into the arena before you. Additionally, you cast the False Sound technique on the hooded figure so that you can make it appear as if the clone were speaking to him.

The hooded figure walks forward, jumping into the railing of the overlook to stare down at your clone. You and Ai are still in the shadow of the doorway, unseen.

The man throws back his hood, and reveals his face.

He has light brown, curly hair. It's medium length, falling all over his face in random locks. His skin is deathly white, and he has numerous long scars on his face.

Your clone begins to speak to him.

"I've already eliminated most of your allies. If you give up, we can take you in peacefully."

The man slowly unfurls a scroll. In a puff of smoke, he suddenly has a two handed scythe in his hand. He responds. His voice is airy, and dry. It sounds as if he's quite thirsty, or tired. "I know you. You're the one who killed Shozuku. Little Shozuku."

Your clone smirks, and responds. "I guess I can take that to mean you were one of his Jashinists, then."

The man shakes his head, slowly. "No. Something more like a rival, I guess you could say. When he banded together his forces, Shozuku took care to wipe out the organization of assassins that helped to raise him in the process. I was a member of his class, you could say."

The clone stares upwards. "So, I'm going to guess that you're not going to come in quietly?"

He shakes his head. "This life is all I've got. If you want me, you're going to have to kill me."

The man stands on the balcony, staring down at your clone. It seems as if he's not intent on making the first move.

>A. Use the Shadow Shuriken technique to throw your two Fuuma Shuriken directly across the balcony.

You take a few small steps back, and cancel your Genjutsu on the hooded man to cast False Sound on Ai. Silently, you tell her to go out there and make the first move while you prepare your Paralyzing bells.

She nods, and exits the shadows. She leaps on top of the balcony while you hold a senbon with a bell in one hand, and a wire tied to it in the other.

The hooded man releases his scythe, and it gently floats next to him. He's using some sort of Jutsu to be able to manipulate it with his chakra. With his freed hands, he rapidly casts the seals for the Hidden Mist Jutsu.

The room is quickly filled with the fog. The balconies that he and Ai are standing on look just over the small pool of white mist.

She uses her first pair of hands to form seals for the Lightning Ball Jutsu. However, she doesn't launch it quite yet, instead holding the orb of crackling electricity above her head. She then takes her other two hands and grabs a number of shuriken. In one smooth motion, she throws the two attacks together.

The orb of lightning in the center, with a number of shuriken on the outside. The electricity freely flows from the orb to the shuriken, creating a net of energy.

The hooded figure doesn't move as the attack strikes him. He explodes in a burst of water, as part of the balcony is destroyed from the blast. In an instant, the real hooded figure hiding in the doorway launches itself at Ai. He's flying through the air at a great speed, wielding his large scythe.

Ai jumps and sticks to the ceiling, the balcony's railing getting sliced into pieces. Just as the hooded man looks up, he spies you holding the bell in the shadow of the doorway.

You ring the bell once, and the Jutsu reaches his ears. For a brief moment, he's paralyzed. Ai leaps back down from the ceiling, and stabs him on both sides with kunai.

It's merely another clone, however, this time it was a Shadow Clone.

He knows that there's two of you now. The mist still fills the bottom of the room, though you and Ai could easily jump over to the doorway. What do you want to do?

>A. Try to advance through the door. If he makes himself present, you and Ai should be able to handle it.

Biting your thumb, you draw enough blood to perform a Summoning Jutsu.

After forming the seals and slamming your palm on the ground, one of your Owl summons, Danpei, appears.

Danpei is a great horned owl. He has the demeanor of an old man, who's just woken up. He spins his head around on his neck to look directly at you. "Hey, Takeshi. What's the deal? Why are we in a video game level?"

You point out into the Mist. "There's an enemy shinobi hidden around here. He's tricked us with a couple of clones so far. He can do Water Clones and Shadow Clones, as far as we know. Do you think you might be able to help us locate him?"

The owl sighs. "All business, huh? Fine. Let's see.."

At once, his head spins around and points to the right. "He's in the bottom right corner of the room. However, there's some kind of clone in the doorway across from us as well."

"Great. Let's see..."

You hold up a finger to Ai, making a "shhhh"shing noise. She nods slowly, and Danpei watches you with interest as well.

Going through a number of seals, you begin to unleash your very own original ninjutsu. Carefully, holding out both hands, a small bubble forms between your palms. Stretching it outward, you let the size of the bubble increase until it's comparable to a basketball. Carefully, lightly, you tiptoe forward and lift the bubble high into the air, gently blowing on it to urge it forward.

In a long, slow arc, it makes it's way to the corner. As it's on it's way down, you motion for Ai and Danpei to get down and cover their ears.

On cue, the explosion rocks the facility. All of the mist in the room is blasted away to the other side, as rubble and dust fills the air.

Taking a glance over the railing, you manage to spy the hooded man flattened against the corner. It looks as if the concussive force pushed his spine into the wall suddenly, and broke his back.

You and Ai hop down in front of him, while Danpei watches from above.

He's choking on his blood, and spitting it out. He smiles as you approach. "Well. Seeing as I've just shit my organs out, looks like you got me..."

Ai kneels down. "What relation did you have to the cult of Jashin?"

The hooded man's eyes are starting to glaze over as he rapidly loses consciousness. "We're...Just leftovers..."

Searching him, you don't find anything of great interest. You, Ai, and Danpei start to make your way through to the barracks.

It isn't long before you encounter S and Inojin.

They look at you, confused. "Huh?" says Inojin. "I'm glad to see you guys, but, where's that guy in the hood..."

You give them a thumbs up. "We took care of him! He's probably dead by now. Fought him back in the training area."

S and Inojin stare at each other for a brief moment. "That's impossible. He just came around this corner less than a minute ago. We had injured his arm..."

Ai points. "Look, there."
>>
Sure enough, at the corner of the hall coming from the barracks, a trail of blood stops short suddenly. It looks as if S and Inojin really were pursuing another man in a hood. You and Inojin both look up at each other, and speak in unison. "Our guy had a scythe, and-..."

"Curly hair."

"Brown eyes, scars."

"I didn't hear or see anyone slipping by us." says Danpei.

Your group heads back to the hooded figure to get a good look at him once more, but the body is gone.

Your brow furrows. "This is impossible. He was paralyzed, his back was snapped."

Everyone looks to each other, but there doesn't seem to be an apparent answer based on the information that you currently have. S is the first to break the silence. "Except for this one escapee, we've cleared out the entire facility. Aside from this odd note, I'd report this mission as a success. We should head back to our home countries."

Ai nods. "I agree. We'll give a fully detailed report on this hooded figure so that he can be added to the BINGO book."

That's all for tonight folks. Sorry for the short thread, but I've had a fairly long day. I'll be running again on Wednesday, and I'll be here for a while for questions.

Thanks for running Mini, looking forward to getting back to the village and actually starting on the dragon boxing.

Any idea how long we'll have before the next mission?
>>
>>3950301
A couple weeks to train and whatnot.
>>
Bros I'm still torn between Mari, Salad, and Hima
>>
>>3950367
Here's the greater question. How are we gonna snap Takeshi out of his training autism for just long enough to ask one of them out?
>>
>>3950367
I'm still team Mari, Sarada is a tinfoil hat but can be a bro. Himawari is little sister tier imo
>>
>>3950367
Salad is my pic because I consider her a better rival for us than Mari.
In the end, though I'll go to whatever girl comes to us first, which knowing how these things tend to go will probably be Hima or nobody.
>>
>>3950367
Mari is still best girl desu

Not that Takeshi cares at this point since he's training autism incarnate
>>
>>3951615
I'm getting flashbacks to lazes leaf ninja quest. Oh my god are we some unlucky girls TenTen?
>>
Hey guys, work has asked me to stay late. I'll be postponing until tomorrow. Apologies.

>>3952264
What's this mean lol?
>>
>>3952475
We autistically train until we're the best but we constantly miss the invitation of our love interest until they give up and move on.
>>
>>3952522
Well that certainly sounds within the scope of reason
>>
>>3951572
>Salad is my pic because I consider her a better rival for us than Mari.

Eh, I'd argue that, why do you think so?
>>
>>3952689
No need to argue, everyone can tell its not true. Yeah, she's a good counter and one of the few people smarter than us (of our generation). But really that's about it, she doesn't have as much presence in the story as Mari and isn't as fun to be around.
>>
Hello everyone. I have some cleaning to do, so unfortunately I'll be postponing things until tomorrow again.

Apologies, this was unexpected. I need to clean a kennel for a dog I'm taking care of for a few days.

Tomorrow, at 6 PM, I'll start a new thread.
>>
>>3953894
Thanks for the update boss!
>>
>>3953894
