Describe your stats in plain English using the ranks below.
Ranks: minuscule, weak, low, below average, average, above average, high, exceptional
For Stats, an “average” rank means the rank of an average person
For skills and other abilities, an “average” rank means an average person skilled with this ability; an average professional. Those with less than average ranks are skilled amateurs. Yes, this means, above average skills are uncommon.

The skills are freeform so you can list anything. Here's an extensive list if you need inspiration: https://gurps.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Skills

Attached is an example character from the Mythic book.
>>
CREATION RULES
1) Create your character, following the rules above.
2) Reminder: you are playing as yourself, the person behind the screen. The more honest you are statting yourself, the more fun this is going to be.
3) Reminder: for skills, an average rank means the rank of an average professional, not the average person. If you rank yourself as Average, then it means that you're as good as the average professional.

GENERAL RULES
1) Namefag yourself.
2) Roll 20d100 with each post. The rolls will be used for the GM emulator.
3) You have to keep track of your own inventory and money.
4) No whining about the QM decisions and rolls.
MULTIPLAYER RULES
1) You can chat with the other players as much as you want
2) Don't make more than one action post before the QM responds

INTRODUCTION
Floating Lotus City (浮莲市) is a city that only exists in the dream world, and is accessible to new dreamers once every twenty years. The Iron Buddha Sect (铁观音氏), a sect that practices Buddhist cultivation, holds a trial in this city to recruit new members.

You have fallen asleep. You were brought here after seeing the dream-inducing Cundī lotus maṇḍala that was posted on /x/, /his/ and /lit/. The Cundī lotus maṇḍala is a memetic condensation of the Cundī Dhāraṇī recited 100,000 times. It is a very rare chance, but only a genius can hope to be recruited. The Trial of the Two Ponds will reveal the heart of the participants. The ponds are filled with the water of the unsurpassed good Dharma, and the trial is difficult on the mind; many would-be cultivators give up in just the first pond. If you give up, you can return home. If you pass, each pond will reveal your nature and the best path of cultivation for yourself.

A middle-aged, long-eared monk dressed in white robes greets you. "Amituofo! You want to pass the trial? Go ahead if you dare!"

>Enter the Black Water Pond. Write everything that you don't like about yourself, and everything that you fear.
>Enter the Gold Water Pond. Write everything that you like about yourself.

After you have passed the trial, the monk asks you a riddle. "Does the number of souls in the universe increase or decrease?"

He then asks a second riddle. "When you meet the Bodhisattva Immeasurable Intention on the celestial bridge, you can't talk to him, nor face him in silence. What, then, will you do? Answer me quickly!"

NEW MECHANICS

Tathāgata Store is a new stat that starts with a rank of Minuscule 3. The Tathāgata Store is shrouded in your afflictions. There are several methods of cultivation, but the method presented ITT is to remove all afflictions. The more you remove your afflictions, the higher your rank will get. The Trial of the Black Water Pond will help determine what your afflications are. Effectively, this stat will represent your store of magical energy.

Good Karma: Good Karma will work like Favor Points in the Core Mythic Rules. Good Karma can be used by the players in action posts to alter positively the results of dice rolls. Good Karma can also be used to buy off Evil Karma Points.

Evil Karma: Evil Karma will be used by the QM at dramatic moments to affect the results of dice rolls negatively.

I wonder if Mark's After-Effect cheat can be used to summon the hybrid entity known as Jackson-Larry from Tartarus.

One question was left unanswered in the Tartarus thread.
Q: QM am I taking Jacksons robot cat? (http://boards.4channel.org/qst/thread/3981247/#p3986945)
Odds: 50/50
Roll: 29
A: Yes

It is now ruled that, in Tartarus, Mark took Jackson's robot cat. As Tartarus is a nearby timeline (http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/3919883/#p3920086), possibly a nightmare world, After Effect can be used to summon Jackson-Larry.
>>
>>3993024
I might as well expound on my design ideas for this character's powerset if you're going to use it. Jackson's shade: Thermalshock Tiger was created as a Dual class shade, meaning it has two operators. This runs contrary to the Epsilon symbiote, which is a supportive program with the ability to assist Calibre and operate subsystems. Tiger would have most of its physical capabilities be managed by Larry while Jackson would operate it's Meter weapons. Due to the nature of Jackson and Larry's relationship, Jackson would be the primary decision maker. Tiger's Meter weaponry is based on the principles of heating and cooling, of which the shade has extrodinary control over. Dealing Fire and Ice elemental damage with the same attack would be trivial, and bonus damage would be awarded for hitting enemies suffering from temperature based status effects with an attack of the opposite element, hence the title: Thermalshock.

Meter is a resource gained by dealing and taking damage and is measured in percentage from 0-100, with new tiers of abilities at each level. Meter is consumed by the Secondary Weapons unlocked by Meter gain. Thermalshock would gain its first tier at 35%, later than most frames, and would have it's temperature manipulation range limited to the immediate area around it. 50% would unlock a doubled radius and the ability to project zones of influence at long range for a medium Meter cost. 80% would grant a second doubling of effective radius and a potency boost. 100% is Thermalshock's ultimate ability: Pyroclastic Glacialstate. This ability would allow Tiger to exert an absolutely absurd amount of temperature change across a massive area, and grant it a font of manipulation potential. This ability could cycle an enemy through hot and cold states a thousand times per second, create glaciers, a storm of flaming ice spears to block out the sun, or anything the Operator could imagine.

All Meter reverts to zero at the end of combat.
>>
>>3993067
I also intended for some other possible abilities, but those rely on Tartarus' unique properties and are unlikely to be awakened outside of that context.
>>
>>3992426
>Black Pond: My greatest fear is regression, to sink back into the depths of an inferior life plagued by the shadow of repeated failings of the past, to lose my principles and become something lesser. I have seen people reach a peak of understanding before casting themselves back into the depths of delusion, and I will never let myself succumb to that same fate.

>Gold Pond: I have never been one for frivolities, and that lack of attachment has always helped me. My pride. My mind. My resolve, and my abilities. I have goals and I work towards them.

Cheeky Death Perception here 'cause I know how Wux operates. There is a method by which I will be ejected from this realm if it deems I have failed the test, how can it be negated?

>"Does the number of souls in the universe increase or decrease?"

"Observably, it remains the same."

>"When you meet the Bodhisattva Immeasurable Intention on the celestial bridge, you can't talk to him, nor face him in silence. What, then, will you do? Answer me quickly!"

"I cut him down."

By the way Wux, how many kills did I get in that epilogue? My ability should tell me.

Such high potential for a thread.

>>3993207
I will give some context for Boston and the lurkers who haven't followed the previous threads. The cheat powers, a concept derived from the anime "Isekai Cheat Magician" or another anime, are magical powers that are completely overpowered, on the level of destroying entire kingdoms. I have tried to ban them from the previous thread, but I was unable to, due to the players finding at least 2 loopholes in the rules.

In this region of the dream world, you need to make a Tathāgata Store roll (>>3992426) to use any sort of power, including cheats.

Your Death Perception is strongly weakened, although not absent. You are unable to perceive information about the Trial, and your Death Count shows fluctuating numbers. The fluctuation was the strongest when you were in the Black Water Pond.

IQ (Trial method): You find no logical weakness in your natural method. The weakness here is Death Perception, because if the other participants who know you assume that you are using Death Perception to obtain the correct answers, they will copy them and score as high as you.

>>3992504
Reaper Aspirant is active.

>Reaper Aspirant: Although your Death Perception is weakened in the dream world, the knowlege of how to destroy hasn't left. It's easier to see flaws in an enemy's fighting style, and enemy weaknesses are easier to intuit. Training is also a bit easier due to your experience finding your own flaws. It's nowhere close to what you had, but it's a start.

The monk speaks. "Amituofo! Twelve of you have been chosen to enter our Iron Buddha Sect. Everyone else, you can go back home and try again in twenty years."

Dante, Mark, Boston and Chase have all been chosen. The other eight persons seem to be Earthlings, except for one small demonic creature clad in winter clothes. The monk does not seem to mind.

"I will now explain the answers to the riddles."

He clears his throat.

"One. Does the number of souls in the universe increase or decrease?

The correct answer is: Neither! The number of souls neither increases nor decreases. It is an enormously wrong view to compare the soul to a flame. This is a wrong view of Nirvāṇa; a grave, evil karma. The soul is luminous, but it has neither a beginning nor an end.

The Blessed One has answered this riddle in the Sūtra of Neither Increase Nor Decrease. I will now recite it in its entirety, please listen carefully."

(You can read here: http://www.sutrasmantras.info/sutra14.html)

"Two. When you meet the Bodhisattva Immeasurable Intention on the celestial bridge, you can't talk to him, nor face him in silence. What, then, will you do?

This question is an open-ended question and all of you answered properly. The Chan master Wumen Huikai has answered in the Gateless Gate scripture:

'Face him neither with words nor silence.
Give him an uppercut
And you will be called one who understands Chan.'

For giving the answer that is the closest to the patriarch's, this man here [Chase] wins the contest."

Behind the monk is the celestial bridge, a bridge of gold, silver and sunstone suspended more than a thousand feet above the ground. This bridge separates the sect from Floating Lotus City, and as new members of the sect, you're allowed to pass.

The monk walks with everyone and he explains how the sect works. The main philosophy is the development of cultivation and benefiting all beings. The majority of the disciples are dream travellers who have come from the material plane to join the sect. The sect is located in the mountains; it is small sized and has five large and elegant pavilions and a few courtyards and gardens. The white walls of the pavilions are covered in beautiful mantras and incense is burned outside to create an atmosphere that is tranquil.

There is only one meal per day and the rules are very simple.

1) No killing
2) No stealing
3) No sex
4) No lying
5) No alcohol

As you are Inner Disciples, you must choose a Pavilion where you will study and live.

The Nine Cloud Pavilion: administration; handing out quests; dorms; kitchen.
The Vajra Pavilion: in charge of security, discipline; study martial arts.
The Secret Cauldron Pavilion: infirmary and pill production; study esoteric qi techniques, alchemy.
The Nameless Pavilion : library; study sutras and practice meditation.

There's a fifth Pavilion that does not accept new disciples, reserved to the sect leader.

Two male and one female Earthlings follow you to the Secret Cauldron Pavilion.

The Pavilion's main room is decorated with golden statues of the frog god Kek, his wife Keket, and the god-king Shi, in meditative poses and dressed with Taoist outfits. On the walls is a wooden relief showing the battle exploits of Shi, with Kek floating in a cloud above him. On both edges of the rooms, there are two small pond of clear water, with colored frogs swimming across the surface. Standing on the pond's banks are sixty small statues of Bodhisattvas.

You are welcomed by the master of the Pavilion. She introduces herself as Mistress Lu, to be called by you disciplines "Shifu". Her tone is deep and soft, and her voice is soothing like the flow of water into the sea.

She's an immortal fairy, her beauty is like the white pearls reflecting the gentle moonlight, her wisdom is like the winter dew on top of the mountain peak, and her kindness like tender lotus blossoms. The cuffs of her robes are wrapped with silk and the green skirt of her robes, woven one by one and held together with a firm knot. Her long flowing purple hair floats above her shoulders and envelopes her face and limbs in a warm and lovely softness. She is like a raindrop gently pattering on a path, or the lily of the valley, her loveable face is tender and sweet. Her eyes have the color of amethysts, they are moist, holding an inner glow, and a deep mystery.

Her elder discipline introduces himself.

"My name is Chen Fengjian, you can call me Dage. I will show you the pill factory."

The pill factory is a large room with an enormous bronze tripod cauldron in the middle, after which the pavilion is named.
Your job as new disciplines is to grind herbs into powder all day.

"Grinding herbs to make healing pills for all the disciplines of the sect, this is a task of great merit. If you want to gain greater merit, you can go to the monster beast valley to collect more herbs."

A: Critical Yes
Critical: He gives a detailed speech

Chen Fengjian hands you a mortar and pestle, and answers.

"Our main herb is the spirit grass, and our main recipe, the healing pill.

The principle of alchemy is simple. The spirit grass has absorbed the spirit energy from cultivating beasts in the valley. The spirit energy is like the Tathāgata Store, hidden inside of the plant. Bake the herb powders, release the spirit energy of the spirit grass. Fuse the spirit energy into a spirit pill with healing powers.

The alchemist must first meditate to purify their mind from the three poison: delusion, greed, and aversion. This is an important step, to not transfer evil karma to the pill.

Then, the color of the flame must be controlled. Steadily rotate the furnace and change the color of the flame blue. If the flame turns green even for one second, the pill is toxic, don't eat.

Control the flame and stabilize temperature with qi, intense at the beginning, then keep it smooth. The smoother, the higher purity of the pill. Perfect fragrance means perfect temperature.

Only use morning dew if you must lower the temperature. The control of qi always stable or it creates an explosion; the herbs are wasted. If there's green or black smoke, run.

Continuously, the alchemist must recite the mantra of our sect leader, "An ma ne ba mi hong", with perfect control over their tone. This is in fact the most significant part of alchemy. When the powder is entirely baked, the sacred An hanzi (唵) must be formed above the furnace from clear blue qi energy and then thrown into the furnace. This last step will create the healing pills."

At lunch time, disciples from the Nine Cloud Pavilion bring you your meal. It's a vegetable and tofu soup, with two wheat dumplings. There's no salt and it's bland tasting. One of the Earthlings, the one who looks vaguely like Harry Potter, sits next to you.

"Hello, I'm Wade. How did you guys get here? Do you think we'll get more food? I've been eating Thanksgiving food for the last month so I'm still feeling hungry with this soup. Chen Dage, please bring us another portion."

Mark eats with the others in silence, which is only broken by Wade's chatter. He then walks around the area, looking for something interesting.

The first thing that he finds is a delightful garden. The lawns are made of small white stones and are bordered with ivy and bright blue daisies. A wooden bridge leads across the garden from one of the many paths that wind through a bamboo forest. Then he sees a beautiful grotto with another bridge that rises to a platform with a pretty fountain. The garden is so quiet that a single whisper makes the grass rustle. Across from the pond, there are teak stands and small terraces overlooking the tranquil waters. The scenery is perfect for walking meditation.

The garden is tended by students of the Nine Cloud Pavilion, who ask him if he has ideas on how to improve the garden, to make it more serene.

He keeps walking around the area of the Nine Cloud Pavilion and finds a group of students circling a strange, four-story phantom tower. It has appeared out of nowhere and they are arguing about what it is and if it's evil in nature.

Because of his severely underdeveloped Tathāgata Store, Mark is unable to use his cheat Alter-Effect. Moreover, by attempting to connect to alternate realities, the opposed effect happens: he is sucked in to Tartarus, summoned by Jackson-Larry, who's using his own version of Alter-Effect.

Picking flowers with a half-dead friend, that is a decently fun activity. Chase's heart is filled with wonder and delight as they run, jump, spin, and swoop in all directions. Such is the sheer fun of nature's beauty. Each corner of the forest is covered with different types of bush, roots, shrubs and mushrooms.

Seeing that the warning has been ignored, three ghosts follow Chase and attack him from behind. They suck his life force away; it is as if the fat was sucked from his flesh, making him look like an anorexic corpse. There is no color in his body anymore; he is now a thing of cold, lifeless bones. Dante, who has touched the ghost herb, does not look much better. Despite the loss of life energy, Chase can still remain inside of the dream.

All books of the sect are stored in the main hall of the Nameless Pavilion. Approximately one thousand volumes are stored here. The rare and forbidden books are stored in another room. Since he's a member of the alchemy pavilion, CW is granted access to books related to this subject of study. The librarian gives him a thick volume called "Introduction to External Alchemy", a favorite among new disciples. CW opens the book and reads.

Introduction to External Alchemy: There are two types of alchemy: internal and external. Internal alchemy is the alchemy within one's person; making pills and the like is external alchemy. The book explains that Buddhist alchemy takes the science from traditional alchemy, but makes a strong focus on transforming the materials with personal energy and mantras, rather than formulas and rituals. Internal and external alchemy use the same concept. In internal alchemy, a person gains power by removing the shrouds of affliction that surround their Tathāgata Store. In external alchemy, a pill gains power by removing the material envelop that surrounds the essence and energy of the elements. One's personal level of internal alchemy thus determines success in external alchemy. The book then explains in detail how to get rid of the three poisons (delusion, greed, aversion). All afflictions that shroud the Tathāgata Store are derived from the three poisons, and the book makes a focus on the jealousy affliction as a major alchemical hindrance.

Grenades and radioactive missiles are exploding everywhere on the hellish battlefield of Tartarus. The hybrid cat Jackson-Larry is fighting his nemesis Rust Kaiser, a sort of black-colored Terminator with turtle shells on his shoulders. Jackson-Larry had tried to summon an alternate-reality robot cat to attack Kaiser with laser eyes or other advanced weaponry; he hadn't expected a feeble human to answer his call.

"The sound is a deafening cascade of crystal, a monstrous bang erupting forth in a concussive peal - huge fragments of mirror bound out in all directions, a glittering hail that pelts Jackson-Larry with fist-sized chunks of bounding quartz, splintering against him, splintering around him; the bow-wave of the blast picks him up, and he pitches to the side - tumbling down, down, *down* to a crunching impact that splinters the tiles into a sunburst, his arms and legs twitching and flopping in partial seizure as he convulses."

Before dying, Jackson-Larry releases Mark and lets him go back to the dream world. They exchange an understanding glance, and Mark heads home.

Back to serious business. Mark examines the ghost tower closely.

Intuition: The tower is strongly demonic in nature. It has been constructed by a shen dragon to disrupt the sect memetically. It is designed to drain the life force of sentient beings enter the first floors. The memetic power of the tower is relative to the number of souls that it has sucked in. The tower is only a mirage and has no reality until it has drained a few people. It's best not to enter.

So what are the effects of the drain we're suffering, and what are the ghosts weak to? That is of course if they're still around. I didn't know Dante was suffering some serious wight-blight, I thought it was more of the general ouchies you get when touching objects charged with negative energy.

>“This is extremely dangerous, call the Elders. This is a big nope area. No one must enter the tower.”
Although he's a new discipline, Mark speaks with authority so no one enters the tower.

The Elder Sister Duanbi Shijie comes to investigate the situation. Duanbi Shijie is a pure flower who appears nearly like a goddess among humans. Her fragrance is resplendent and heavenly; it brings a calming effect to the senses, keeping people in an even mood. She has large eyes and a melon seed face, charming and attractive, bringing a feeling of ease and security to the hearts of everyone. The sight of her gentle gaze is similar to a cat's eyes, which are of utmost cute. She's dressed with elegant robes that wrap around her body and form a string of garlands around her neck.

She makes a triangle with her hands, close her eyes and feels the energies of the tower.

"This is bad, very bad."

The vibration of the tower distorts her mind, but she maintains a firm foothold on the ground.

"This is a memetic array trap. Please recite protective mantras with me."

Zombie Dante sits next to you and you both drink from the water. Of course, there's something off with it, if spiritual grass is growing next to it. It is in fact a pond of awareness. Drinking from it makes you feel aware of magical abilities that you possess, but that are difficult to perceive in the dream world. The familiar death perception comes to your awareness.

Death Perception (necrosis): Necrosis can be countered with a simple healing spell or pill.

Death Perception (ghosts): Ghosts are vulnerable to attacks that are ethereal or magical. They are also vulnerable to exorcism and holy water.

Death Perception (Tathāgata Store): Your Tathāgata Store skill is limited by your afflictions. You have been informed of your worse afflictions by the Trial of the Two Ponds (>>3993207). Your main affliction has been determined to be pride, which is one of the five poisons.

>Chase gains full access to Death Perception
>Dante gains full access to Vice/Virtue: You can channel a specific one of the seven deadly sins or heavenly virtues to gain powers unique to both, these are initially weak but grow stronger the more you embody them. At first, you can only have one at once and changing brings a complete reset but extensive experience can allow you to incarnate several at once. The choices are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, pride, opposing chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.
>Dante gains full access to Electric Conduit: You can instinctively generate and manipulate electricity. At first only small amounts and low voltages, but eventually you can call down thunder, disintegrate your foes, and control the fundamental force of magnetism.

>>4002873
The monks don't make pills, they only grind herbs. Only Mistress Lu and Chen Fengjian have the ability to make pills. Chen Fengjian gladly accepts your help. You produce a perfect blue flame while he's rotating the furnace. You close your eyes, focusing on the fragrance of the herbs to reach perfect temperature. Very good. The furnace is getting hotter and hotter. You try to keep the temperature stable, but it's too difficult. Black smoke comes out of the furnace. Someone yells, "Run!!!!"

A firework of burning grass goes off. Thanks to your fire immunity, you're not hurt at all. Only one other student gets hurt, and flames rise from the wooden floor of the pavilion.

Death Perception (Shifu's character flaw): Lu Shifu is deeply unlucky due to an abysmal accumulation of evil karma. Her destiny is unclear. Her main affliction is arrogance, which is caused by her superior beauty and intelligence. There are traces of all five poisons in her character.

>Dante uses his good karma to buy off his evil karma.

Mistress Lu is standing by the pond in the main hall and convokes the students.

"This is the dreamscape of our sect leader, and she's going to wake up. The dreamscape is only semi stable: when she wakes up, the dream always fades away. We will see each other soon."

Chen Fengjian does a fist and palm salute.

The Tathāgata Store will remain a mystery. This is the end of the thread. Thank you for your participation.

I have created a new Isekai thread (https://boards.4channel.org/qst/thread/4011268#p4011268) as a continuation of Shi's thread. All karma gained here will be transferred there.
