Your eyes are heavy... So very heavy... Soon you find yourself falling, falling, falling. Its hard to keep your eye lids from closing, but you put in your best effort. You are not ready to let yourself drift off, so you struggle to take in your surroundings instead. You look up at your feet and arms as you continue falling head first to the earth bellow. How did you get so high up? You can't recall, but you can recognize the constellations in the dark night sky engulfing you. So you at least know you can't be too far from home. You can't help but be taken in by the breath taking enormity of the cosmos as you fall through them. You have never left the city before, but you have always been told that there are so many, many more stars up in the sky then you can fabricate with your minds eye. Its not something one can even imagine, or grasp from just one photo. One must actually see just how many stars exist with their own eyes to truly understand. Someone once told you, just who you can't recall, that there are two types of people in the word: They type of person that can only learn by his own experience and mistakes, and the type of person that can also learn from the mistakes and experience of others. But looking at this canopy of stars, you wonder if that second type of person truly exists. How far can secondary experience really take someone? Whats the key difference between knowing something and understanding something? Is it possible to teach others how to be a gardener if you yourself have never planted a single seed? How far your mind drifts as you plummet...

You start to burn as you enter the upper atmosphere, faster and faster you fall to the earth bellow. But you are not afraid, the fire engulfing you is warm and comfortable. You never realized just how cold you were before. The friction heat soothes your skin, and you can finally start to move your frigid fingers as the flame thaws out your bones.

That dark dreamy sky changes to a vibrant blue as you fall down into the cloud bank. The hot sun bakes you with his attention, he looks right at you and follows your descent. You pass through cloud after cloud on your way down. The first one hit the hardest, but each cloud thereafter slows your fall speed. They sap you of your strength, and you finally close your eyes.

You awake in what seems to be a storage room. Stone walls, hay, and wooden barrels to every side of you. Looking up, you can see how you got here. In what seems an impossibly high straw ceiling, you can spot a YOU shaped hole. You look down at yourself , you are a small person with smooth skin. Your shoes are gone and so are your pants! Luckily your sweater is much too big for you, and is long enough to be a dress. Not that you like wearing a dress, you prefer pants. “Prioritize” you think to yourself. Where is this place? WHAT is this place? You stand up and brush the straw from your clothing. You can see only one way out of the room, but some barrels are blocking your way out.

>Seeing no other way out, you decide to push your way through the barrels blocking your escape.

You gather up your courage in this spooky place and head towards the barrels. You place your hands on one of the barrels blocking your path and give it a big push! Only to find your socks sliding back on the ground and the barrel remaining motionless. These are very heavy barrels and you are a scrawny wimp, strength is not your strong suit. It may take some time to move them. You position your feet firmly under your shoulders and wrap your arms around the first barrel. Then with all your might you jerk and wobble the barrel until it slowly shifts a few inches. You build up quite a sweat but manage it.

[QM NOTE: Events can happen at curtain time intervals, if you spend too much time doing a task or looking around you may find yourself missing events. Or alternatively, you may gain a boon by standing around for something to happen. A simple example is guards patrolling an area, waiting too long may cause you to be caught or give you an opening to sneak by. TLDR; the world doesn’t wait for you]

Its just then that you hear the two distinct voices, you’re not sure what they are saying exactly but it sounds like arguing. You know the sound of arguing very well. You stay still a while and try to listen, maybe they are talking about you? You did just crash through their ceiling. You wait a while but no one seems to be getting any closer, yet the arguing persists.

You decide to work on the other barrel as well, until you manage to move it too. Just enough for you to scoot on by! You step into the next room and look down the stairs...

You see six jail cells filled with hay and wood chips, four are mostly empty but two of them house people! They have seemingly not noticed you at all. They are in deep argument about something... You try to get a better look at the two individuals, but to get a better [Description], you need to get closer

>You decide to heroically announce your presence! After all they are safely behind bars...

[You]: “Uh... Hello? Sorry about your roof...”

The two men either don't hear you or are simply ignoring you, they continue to argue as if you said nothing at all.

[Gold Wizard]: “How simplistic, again and again I explain it to you but you don't seem to understand. Debating with the rats will prove more fruitful.”
[Cult Warrior]: “I understand your position wizard, it's simply the position of a coward.”
[Gold Wizard]: “Not an argument”
[Cult Warrior]: “One's word is his life, to give it out freely is to waste your very self.”
[Gold Wizard]: “Words are words, actions are actions, to imply anything else is to lie to yourself just as you do me”

You’re not sure what they are talking about, but you can tell they have been at it for a long time. You wonder if they simply argue to pass the time. Yet, you don't like being ignored. So you jump down and move towards them, perhaps they simply can't hear you over the shouting match.

As you attempt to step down a single step, something perculier happens. You end up clearing the entire set of stairs and land on the ground instead. Its then that you notice that your feet are not quit on the ground. You are just shy of floating above it. Jumping up and down to test your theory, you fly much higher into the air then you ever expected to be able too, before float slowly down to earth. [Insight]: You now realize that you weigh next to nothing. Gravity has a weak hold on you.

[QM note: an [insight] is a fundamental understanding of someone's, something's, or someplace's characteristics. Upon gaining an insight, you will gain understanding over yourself or over something else. Some are free, while some must be earned. For example, gaining insight over a characters personality will result in being about to persuade them much easier.]

The two characters have yet to notice you. But this time you are adamant. You step forward into their line of vision and announce your presences once again.

[You]:”H-HEY, Can you guys see me hello??”

Its enough to finally gain their attention, the two men sit in silence for a moment. Then they attempt to pull you into their argument.

[Cult Warrior]:”Finally, a third party to arbitrate. Tell me friend, could you maybe lend us a hand?”
[Gold Wizard]: “...”

Before giving you a chance to speak, The warrior spills forth the details of the argument.
>>
[Cult Warrior]: ”To better understand our debate, let me lead you in with an example. Say, you are walking along with your noble grandfather whom you respect and love, and he turns to you and says: 'I hate parrots, they are harbingers of disease' then he turns to you and makes you promise him that you will never in your life purchase and own a parrot. You, of coarse, know his reasoning is absurd, when has he ever even seen a parrot? But he is growing old and his mind is drifting, so you do truly give the man your word that you will never ever purchase or keep a parrot. Now, to the gut of it, would you keep your word or not? Its easy to dismiss the argument and say, 'oh I don't care I don't even want a parrot', but for the sake of argument lets say you did. So what would you do? Keep your word like a true man or would you break it and do as you will like a snake?”
[Gold Wizard]: “Don't try to sway their opinion, fool.”
[Cult Warrior]: ”What? What did I say? I simply stated the case”
[Gold Wizard]: “Now the newcomer will be biased, since they know who held which opinion.”

The wizard turns to you

[Gold Wizard]: “Never mind that the whole thing is done under duress, would you jump off a bridge if you promised to do so? How absurd, words have no meaning they don't exist.”
[Cult Warrior]: ”Then you should have never promised them not to keep a parrot, you promised them in order to avoid a bad situation. You are a coward if you fear your grandfathers wrath, the least you can do is keep your word in exchange for avoiding an unpleasant situation.”
[Gold Wizard]: “You are mad”

First of all, you should never make such a promise to start with. I doubt the man, if he really was such a senile old bastard, would remember the promise anyway.
But assuming for some reason that I did, I would simply wait for him to die and then decide on my own later once his influence on me is null and void and the effects of me owning a parrot would no longer possibly be known to him or affect him in anyway, because he'd be dead.

You think for a moment before answering

[You]: “Well, I wouldn’t make a promise like that in the first place mind you...”
[Cult Warrior]: ”Good to hear, it looks like you value your word enough not to give it freely”
[You]: “But... I wouldn’t keep my promise in the end, sorry... ”

The warrior rolls his head back in disappointment

[You]: “I would wait for him to die though! I wouldn’t break the prom’s while he is alive but once he is dead, he is dead, what does it matter? ”
[Cult Warrior]: ”So you keep your promises out of courtesy? Its more important for you to be polite then be true to your word?”
[You]: “Thats not what I said...”
[Cult Warrior]: ”What a half assed way to go about things, you keep your promise because you fear reprisal either for yourself or for your grandfather you coward”

The warrior bends your words, but you can't do much but let him talk dawn to you like a child.

[You]: “Ill keep my promise then! Its just a silly bird anyway...”

[Cult Warrior]: ”NO NO NO NO, THATS EVEN WORSE! ITS NOT EVEN ABOUT THE DAMN BIRD, HOW ARE YOU NOT GETTING IT?”

The warrior gets up from his squatting spot and slams against the cell, his hands jet out between bars as he tries to reach out and grab you. You are startled at first, but the bars hold firm. He can't reach you from where you are standing. You finally get a good look at the warrior, he is tall in stature and looks pretty well toned. For someone who may have been sitting inside a jail cell for an extended length of time. His arms, legs, and head are covered with a thick sheets of metal armour. Although, he leaves the most important parts of his person, his chest and crotch, almost completely exposed. Tattooed across his chest is a large pentagram looking symbol, it almost looks like a target directing attacks to his heart!

[Gold Wizard] ”...”

[You] “I guess I have no idea what I would do... Sorry!”

The wizard finally enters the conversation to speak to you.

[Gold Wizard] ”You are wasting your time, the [Cult Warrior] is clearly insane. But I can see that you are a normal clever little person. Perhaps you can make a deal with me? Over yonder is a key, maybe you can let me out?”

>You would like to let them both out, you favour letting the warrior out first

You try thinking a way out of this messy situation. It would be best to let them both out, but there is no way to let them out at the same time. Judging from how they act towards each other, there may be a possibility that they will prevent the other from being let out of the cage. You don't have any leverage over them once they are actually freed.

You scan the room and spot the keys. You decide to slowly head over to them in order to give yourself more time to deliberate. While you do some the [Cult Warrior] and [Gold Wizard] continue to argue with each other, but also plead their case.

[Cult Warrior]: ”Let me out first, I pledge myself to protect you! You need a strong warrior who is true to his word, not some worthless wizard. He can't even get out of the cage, what good is his magic anyway?”

[Gold Wizard]: ”Maybe I can make it worth your while? You don't want to walk out of this tower empty handed do you?”

The [Gold Wizard] seems to pull out a small golden tablet from between his palms and makes it dance between his fingers.

[Gold Wizard]: ”Wouldn’t it be just awful if you had to dredge through this place and have nothing to show for it at the end?”

When you return with the keys, you have an idea in your head on how to proceed.

[You]: “Ill free you first warrior, but you must promise me not to stop me from freeing the wizard”

The [Gold Wizard] rubs his hands together and releases a cackle at the [Cult Warrior]'s expense.

[Gold Wizard]: ”Hoisted by your own petard, eh fool? Make him promise not to harm me too, else I fear there will be no protection for me once he is free.”

[Cult Warrior]: ”Don't DO this! Listen I have been here for a LONG time. I have relentlessly grilled this wizard with many hypotheticals to slowly build a psych profile on him. He cannot be trusted! I shall not harm him if he remains in his cell, but once free he will betray us at the first opportunity! Its better to travel alone then to travel with one who will betray you.”

[You]: “I think you underestimate the wizard, besides, I trust you to keep an eye on him. Or are you a coward?”

The [Cult Warrior] doesn't seem too happy, but its hard to tell how he is feeling with the mask covering his face. He responds with a cool tone.

[Cult Warrior]: ”Alright, if you release me first I promise not to get in the way of your marry making with the wizard, I will not harm him unless I see him attempt to bring harm to my person directly or indirectly. But heed my warning, when the time comes and this man whom you call friend betrays you, I will lend you no assistance.”

You slide the key into the key hole and release the [Cult Warrior]. He immediately shoots out of the cage and takes hold of you. You are startled at first, perhaps you have made a huge mistake. But the warrior simply pats you down and takes meaty handfuls of your sweater.

[Cult Warrior]: ”I have not touched anything but straw and steel bars for a long time, you have my gratitude.”

He concludes by ruffling your hair ind pinching your cheeks. Before casting a long cold glare at the wizard.

As you make your way to release the wizard, you finally get a good look at him. The wizard wears a long crimson robe and a very long brimmed matching hat. His clothing is covered from head to toe in golden ornaments. Be it golden stitching or fine embroidered gold buttons, the wizard cant seem to get enough of the material. All this draws away form his key features. His body is long and jagged, even though only his bony hands are exposed, you can tell there is something not quit right about him. His bizarre long arms almost betray the suspicion, that a spider hides under his robes instead of a man.

The [Golden Wizard] steps out of his cage as you open the door slowly, coming to stand face to face with the [Cult Warrior]. The two of them stare at each other in silence, you can cut the tension with a knife.

You take hold of the [Gold Wizard]'s robes and the [Cult Warrior]'s only available graspable fabric and give them both a tug. They both turn to look at you.

[You]: “Now shake hands”

They both speak in unison

[Gold Wizard]: “no”
[Cult Warrior]: “no”

You tug on the fabric harder and jump up and down in quick succession

[You]: “pleeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassseeee”

In response, the two men(?) very slowly move to shake hands. It takes several moments but they do manage it. They look more pissed then ever.

[You]: “So how did you guys get thrown behind bars anyway?”

[Cult Warrior]: “I was... When I came here you see I... I was...”

[Blue Book Points: 0][Cult Warrior Influence: 0] The [Cult Warrior]'s tone changes from one of contemplation to irritation.

[Cult Warrior]: “Actually its none of your damn business, I won't talk about that with someone who can't even be true to their word!”

The [Cult Warrior] then jerks his hand away from the [Gold Wizard] and stomps off. He starts to investigate the jail room in some attempt to look busy.

[Cult Warrior]: “Tell me when you’re ready to leave”

You are left with the [Golden Wizard], who gently places his boney arms around your shoulders.

[Gold Wizard]: “Don't mind that rat, ill tell you my story free of charge. You see I am a humble financier. Sometimes I enjoy giving money to small start up adventuring groups, call it a hobby. I do this with very little interest mind you, I was once an adventurer myself yes. It was how I made most of my earlier fortune.”

The cult warrior seems unable to stop himself from entering your conversation
[Cult Warrior]: “How selfless of you.”

The [Gold Wizard] releases you only so that he may rub his hands together. He ignores the [Cult Warrior]'s words completely.

[Gold Wizard]: “I just had a small, very none intrusive mind you, clause that if the party should by any chance find a interesting artifact I would have claim over it. Yes, right, this is where the story takes a dark turn. You see one of these cruel, and brutish, tropes decided that they wanted to keep the artifact for themselves and break our fair, binding contract. I of course am but a peaceful man and could do nothing to stop them. Worse yet, these vile brutes, probably in fear of the law, put me here.”
>>
[You]:”And where is here? I may have ended up here by accident.”

The [Gold Wizard] stops rubbing his hands, but only for a moment before answering your question.

[Gold Wizard]: “Oh, I'm sorry child, you see these thugs hit me quite hard over the head. I did not see where they had taken me. You should be careful as you proceed, yes.”

The [Golden Wizard] then proceeds to turn you around and give you a light push towards the next room.

[Gold Wizard]: “Tell us what you find, yes?”

The [Cult Warrior] suddenly seems to be standing right next to the [Gold Wizard]

[Cult Warrior]:”I want you where I can see you wizard, you are coming with us.”

[You]:”Do you know what this place is warrior?”

[Cult Warrior]: ”Yes, but I won't tell you in front of the wizard”

[Gold Wizard]: "Right...”

You let the momentum from the [Gold Wizard]'s push carry you down the hall. Its an odd feeling being so weightless. It can feel like the floor is covered by ice, there is very little friction acting against you. Feeling that you got all the information that you could get from your new companions, you realizes the only thing left to do is delve deeper. Maybe the next room will have the answers to your questions? Where are you? How did you get here? Or maybe, it will be full of people not so happy that you let out two prisoners. You didn't really think about that until now... What consequences will your actions bring? At least they are not killing each other yet. You wonder if you will have to pick a side at some point.

You are slowly approaching the door leading to the next room, when the [Cult Warrior] steps in front of you and swings it open. He moves into the next room without subtlety and you follow quickly behind. The [Gold Wizard], on the other hand, is slow to follow.

...

Spiders scurry among the books, papers, and skeletons that line the floor of this old dusty room. It smells of antiquity, mold, and despair. In the center of the room stands a large table with what looks to be a lantern that provides the room with its only light source. To the left and right are two elevated platforms that house empty book shelves. With your [Self Insight: Weightless] you can easily get up there with a jump, but your companions will probably have to use the ladders to reach the same height. You look up and see nothing but darkness. You get the feeling that someone may have come through here before you...

As the [Cult Warrior] steps into the room, you move to follow him. But the [Gold Wizard]'s hands fall upon your shoulders and pull you back. When you turn to look at him, he makes a gesture of covering his lips with his finger. At least you think that's what he is doing, his face is quite covered by his high collar.

As the [Cult Warrior] steps deeper into the room, several of the bones start to rattle. Only a few seconds the bones become disturbed do they come together to make a full formed [Skeleton Warrior]s! The don't take even a moment to realize the absurdity of their own existence before moving towards the [Cult Warrior], who meets them with a fighting stance. Obviously if skeletons animate when we get close we jump right back out. Maybe try jumping to the weapons in the lower right instead and bringing one to the warrior?

If we can't do that either tell the wizard we need to maintain a balanced party to maximize our chances of getting out of here.

The [Skeleton Warrior]s advance on the [Cult Warrior], he seems to be their primary target. The leading skeleton tries to stab the warrior with surprising tenacity, but his target skillfully side steps the attack. The [Cult Warrior] counterattacks with a hard kick to the [Skeleton Warrior]'s abdomen, sending it backwards into its allies and blasting it apart. Yet quickly the [Skeleton Warrior] pieces itself back together, its lost bones fly back to the central mass like a magnet to metal. The [Cult Warrior] fights on! But he is being pushed back against a corner.

[Insight: Skeleton Warrior]: You surmise that a [Skeleton Warrior] can't resurrect itself when basked in light: You are CORRECT.

You easily slip from the [Gold Wizard]'s hold and run forward a few steps before ducking down and pushing off the ground with all your might! You jump several feet into the air and over the skeletons to land on the table. Just as you guessed, the bones near you don't react to your presence at all. Standing on the table you get a better look at the contents. Two large unrecognizable maps lay sprawled out on the table along with several miscellaneous, books, parchments, and items. But the Lantern is you quarry, so you pick it up and carry it closer to the [Cult Warrior]. You shine your light on the raised [Skeleton Warrior]s, but it doesn’t seem to have an immediate effect.

Item gained: [Lantern]

The [Skeleton Warrior]s keep hounding their initial target. They stab angrily at the [Cult Warrior] who is quickly running out of maneuverings room. He finally gets a chance to attack and doesn’t miss his opportunity. With great strength, he reduces the closest skeletons head to bone dust. Bathed in the lanterns light, the [Skeleton Warrior] doesn't raise again.

Any skeletons he'd rouse are already bathed in light. We might even want to shift it down one square to make sure that one near the weapons is suppressed so we don't wake it.

You place the lantern back on the ground in a location that should cover the [Cult Warrior]'s Path. Then, you race over to a small weapon pile; you need to help arm the warrior! He is doing fine so far, but a weapon will surely help. The task is easier said then done however, you weren’t sure which one to take. So you decide, at random, to grab the [War Hammer]. OOF, its HEAVY. You take a firm hold of the handle and slowly drag it towards the [Cult Warrior].

Meanwhile the [Cult Warrior] tries to steer the fight away from the wall and towards you. He is quite nimble and continues to dodge the spear thrusts. He makes another counter attack by sweeping a [Skeleton Warrior]s leg and delivering a knock out punch to his downed enemy. Yet his gamble takes it toll, the final [Skeleton Warrior] manages to skewer the [Cult Warrior] as he delivers his finishing blow on the other warrior. The [Cult Warrior] staggers backwards towards you, his agility seemingly drained from the damage. The [Skeletal Warrior] pushes on, not giving a moments respite! Luckily, the [Cult Warrior] stumbles back into reach of the [War Hammer]! He takes firm hold of the handle and swings it just in time to crack the [Skeletal Warrior]'s thrusting spear in half. With all the strength he has left, the [Cult Warrior] swings one final mighty blow that sends the [Skeletal Warrior] to a final resting place.

[Gold Wizard]: “I guess he wont be needing this then”

You hear the sound of a spear hitting the floor.

The [Cult Warrior] turns to face you, you can see blood ooze out of a bloody gash right under his rib. He then collapses, you attempt to catch him but his weight causes you to go down with him.

They can be used to autocratically pass skill checks, upgrade small time characters to important PLOT characters, effect the outcome of Plot heavy events, and much more]

You press your hand on the [Cult Warrior]s wound in an attempt to stop the flow of blood. Yet, all this does is get your hands bloody. You can't help but notice that the [Cult Warrior]'s blood has a strange consistency, it feels like gelatin on your hands. The [Cult Warrior] regains his senses and pushes you off himself, placing his own hand over the wound instead.

[Cult Warrior]: “Get off me. Ill- be fine. HHHHRRRNNNGGggg. Just need, a moment...”

He places his back against a wall and curls up into a small defensive ball. You can hear him grit his teeth.

[Gold Wizard]: “Well, that was a short lived adventure. At least he served a purpose”

The [Gold Wizard] starts to rub his hands together.

You squat down to the [Cult Warrior]'s eye level, and gently pat his shoulders. You are not sure how to help him, and he doesn't seem to want any. You just hope he doesn’t die.

[You]: “You did good today, thank you”

He is either ignoring you, or doesn't notice your touch.

Leaving the [Cult Warrior] for now, you turn to face the [Gold Wizard].

[You]: “Is there something you can do for him? Do you have any healing magic?”

The [Gold Wizard] stops rubbing his hands for a moment.

[Gold Wizard]: “Healing magic? No I don't have any of that”

He speaks as if the word leaves a distaste in his mouth. Soon his hands start to turn over and over once again.

[Gold Wizard]: “What I mean you see, is that I was robed of my magical equipment. If I had my tools that cell could not have held me. I would surely heal your friend If I was able, I just simply don't have the means.”

[You]: “Magical equipment? You mean like that thing you took off the desk,”

[Insight]: You believed that the [Golden Wizard] took something off the desk, you are: CORRECT

[Gold Wizard]: “Why yes”

The [Gold Wizard] produces a jagged wooden wand from his robes.

[Gold Wizard]: “I had hoped it would be one of mine, so that I could use it in the defence of our mutual companion. Unfortunately, it is not. Using an unidentified wand carries too high of a risk. For all I know it could drown our lungs in black tar or turn our skins to stone. No, I will need time to identify it before I deem it safe to use.”

[You]: “So as it stands, you can't actually do any magic at all right now?”

[Gold Wizard]: “Don't worry, Don't worry. I'm sure my equipment will turn up soon. Look how we already found such a valuable trinket.

The [Gold Wizard] holds the wand aloft.

[Gold Wizard]: “A wizard is ALWAYS worthy of investment.”
>>
You turn your attention back towards the table. You investigate the maps, but they are of no place you have ever seen. The [Golden Wizard] looks over your shoulder and nods, but he doesn't give information freely.

[You]: “Er... Can you read these maps? Do you know where we are?”

[Gold Wizard]: “I may have seen such places in books, but nothing I can recall at this time. I have absorbed so much knowledge over the years, you understand yes? Sometimes even I for... misplace, my thoughts.”

The maps are no good, you take the books and parchments in your hands and examine them as well. You are surprised at the contents. Some of the books are empty, some seem to be written in bizarre languages that you do not know, and some seem to be in the English alphabet; but these are all in gibberish, the words themselves mean nothing.

[Gold Wizard]: “Perhaps its encoded, most texts are nowadays. The worthwhile ones anyway.”

[You]”Is there anything you can read here?”

[Gold Wizard]: “This one is about irrigation, this one is about architecture, this one is a critique of the late Draconian period. All worthless”

The [Gold Wizard] reaches his long arm across the table.

[Gold Wizard]: “This one is marching orders, curious.”

You wait for the Wizard to complete his thought.

[Gold Wizard]: “Never mind, its just as worthless as everything else here”

The [Gold Wizard] continues reading the parchment even after deeming it worthless.

You leave the [Gold Wizard] behind to peruse the table and take a look at the weapons on the floor. You take a hold of the spear and find it unwieldy, one end always seems to drag along the ground no matter how you hold it. You can take this with you, but it will require both arms to carry and unless someone chooses to impales himself, it will be worthless in combat. So for the time being you leave it on the ground and decide to check out some of the book shelves.

You are having trouble getting used to your [Self Insight: Weightless] still, so you take the ladder up to the higher floor. Looking through the books, you don't find anything different then what you found below. The words are the same jumbled nonsense. You do pick up a small crystal ball off a shelf however. You turn it over a few times in your hands, but don't sense anything unique about it.

[You]: Wizard! Catch!

Standing over the edge you let the ball roll out of your hands and into the [Gold Wizard]'s hands below. He studies it for a moment before throwing it back up to you.

[Gold Wizard]: ”A knock off crystal ball, it has no magical properties.”

You feel that maybe you are missing something about this room, but you can't seem to figure out what. So you take to drastic measures... The Bookcase you knock over makes a heavy bang that echos through the room and onward. But nothing of note happens. Behind it is simply a wall.

Not ready to give up yet, you scrounge around and take a look to see if any of the papers laying about the room are of any use. Almost all of them are completely blank, the others seems to be half written and discarded. At this point you start to get a bit frustrated. Perhaps you are over thinking things, or maybe you are trying not to think about the [Cult Warrior] who may be bleeding out. You turn to face the [Gold Wizard] and start interrogating him.

[You]: “What did the marching orders say that you found curious? Why did they interest you?”

[Gold Wizard]: “They were just different from the other texts, but still worthless in the end.”

[You]: “Different? In what way?”

The [Gold Wizard] seems a bit annoyed at the question.

[Gold Wizard]: “In the way that they were marching orders and not just another book. But just like the books, they serve no purpose here. Unless they were meant to be read by the skeletons.”

You are not sure if the topic is worth pushing further, you can't read the notes yourself and if the wizard is lying, then he will just continue to do so. You don't like how indirect the [Gold Wizard] is being though, is he being sneaky or does he just look down on your intelligence? You flip the topic to something else.

[You]: “I think we should continue on soon, how long will it take you to identify the wand? Did you have anything on you when you woke up here?”

[Gold Wizard]: “Perhaps... I have a feeling that things are not as they seem, something seems out of place. Call it a wizards intuition. As for my equipment...”

He starts to rub his hands together.

[Gold Wizard]: “Just the wand I’m afraid, I'm not sure how long it will take to identify it as I have not even started. A few hours maybe? Days? Maybe I should hang back here while you scout ahead? It will give me time to identify the wand, and you are so light on your feet...”

[You]: “Maybe...”

You head over to the [Cult Warrior] to check on him. He has stopped making noise and sits quite motionless. Kneeling down next to him you realize instantly that he is dead. His wound must have been too deep. Perhaps it punctured a vital organ? Humans are so fragile...

[Gold Wizard]: “Is he dead? A shame really, you don't often find meat men to stand in the way of blows for free. Just make sure not to disturb the bones then.”

You're not sure how to react. You only known him for a short time, so its hard to know how to feel. You feel more confused then anything. You really didn’t expect his story to end like this...

Just in case: [INSIGHT] Humans are so fragile... If we are not a human, what are we?.

Also: [INSIGHT] The Gold Wizard is a pragmatic and selfish person. He definitely remembers something that he is not telling us (he knew this was a tower, although he was recluded in a cell and said that didn´t rememeber how he got here). He also mentioned about not getting out of this tower empty handed, so that would mean there is treasure to be had here. Perhaps he tried sneaking into here but got caught instead?

I don´t really know how this is supposed to work, but perhaps this will help us persuade him.

[Self Insight]: You wonder if you are NOT a human based on the fragile nature of the species, you are: Probably incorrect.

You pull the [Cult Warrior] towards yourself and hug him deeply. A death is a death, and even though you didn't know him, you can't help but morn him. (-2 [Blue Book Point]s) As you do so, you suddenly feel his heart start to beat in his chest. Then, the [Cult Warrior] lurches forward in a spasm of coughs. You immediately withdraw yourself from him and allow his coughing fit to pass.

[You]: “You're alive! But You were dead i'm sure of it!”

The [Cult Warrior] struggles to speak.

[Cult Warrior]: “Me? Never. I just needed to rest... Quit your concern, I am fine.”

[Gold Wizard]: “...”

The [Cult Warrior]s wounds may not have been as bad as you thought, perhaps you misunderstood the situation. Either way you are glad to see him safe. You try to help the [Cult Warrior] stand but he refuses your help. Choosing instead the support of the wall as he slowly regains his locomotion abilities.

Eventually, you bring the warrior up to speed about the information you gained from the room. Asking the [Cult Warrior] to help interpret the texts proves fruitless, as he can not read at all. He doesn't have much to add, other then his agreement that you had stayed too long in the room. He does express his concern that our jailers turned out to be skeletons.

Soon the [Cult Warrior] is back on his feet and starts to take a close look at the weapons available. He tests one after another before settling on the sword. While he does so you take this opportunity to confront the wizard one last time.
>>
[You]: ”I know you are not being honest about this place”

[Gold Wizard]: “Is that so?”

[You]: “It is so, if you repeat what you did here we are never getting out of here, neither alive or with whatever treasure you think lays here”

The [Gold Wizard]'s hands stop turning, he seems to freeze up.

[Gold Wizard]: “And what did I 'DO' here exactly? ”

[You]: “You knew about the skeletons and the wand, you are looking out for yourself!”

[Gold Wizard]: “Hmmmm... Yes. So was that before or after I stopped you from following the imbecile into a trap?”

[You]: “You could have warned us”

[Gold Wizard]: “I cannot warn of the danger until I am aware of it. I sensed the magic in the room the moment I stepped into it, I did not know in what form the danger, if any, it would take. If you wasn't someone to confront perhaps it should be your impatient friend.”

[You]: “Well what about the wand?”

The [Golden Wizard]'s hands slowly start to turn again. He steps closer towards you so that you are forced to strain your neck to look up at him.

[Gold Wizard]: “Forgive me for attempting to arm myself, in the future I will be sure to ask your permission first.”

[You]: “Your words are smooth wizard but I can feel you are withholding something, for instance how do you know that we are in a tower?”

[Gold Wizard]: “Simple deduction. The atmosphere, the air pressure, the SMELL. We are VERY high up, Perhaps even onto of a mountain.”

The [Gold Wizard] seems to have a answer for everything, he is quick with his tongue and his tone remains cool throughout. It seems impossible to phase or stump him, you could almost say that he is telling the truth... Almost...

[Gold Wizard]: “Anything else troubling you?”

[You]: “I just... I hope that when the time comes you will come through for us, we need to stick together to get out of what ever this place is. None of us can make it out on our own, and you can't make a profit if your dead right?”

The [Gold Wizard] awkwardly places his hand on your head in order to reassure you before quickly withdrawing it.

[Gold Wizard]: “Fret not my little friend, I was quite the adventurer in my youth and know the importance of party cohesion. I will come through for you without fail, you can trust me. Heed not the words of that fool.”

[QM note: Cleared floors may always be fast travelled to and from other Cleared floors as rooms may have a use in the future. For example. The dungeon on this floor may be used to house prisoners and the small library may be used as a staging point as you progress through the dungeon. You may sometime have the option of leaving characters on floors to do tasks, for example if you find an alchemist you may choose to leave him on a dungeon floor with an alchemical work bench for boons.]
