In the year 1987, crime and corruption in America is an epidemic. Drugs and guns flow into the country from everywhere in the world, and the gateway to it all is the coastal paradise, Heat City. This is a place of shining high-rises and shadowed alleys, sunsets and smog, neon and blood, ruled by ambition and greed and power. Here in Heat City, you can get whatever you want -- if you can pay the price.

So the attack on the Nebula nightclub is even bloodier than anyone thought it might be. Multiple cars crashed into the walls, frag and smoke grenades going off, death and destruction everywhere, shit's complete chaos.

In other words, it's an ordinary night in Heat City.

Attack Punk with Bat
Shoot Punk 2 Southeast, 1 South with Pistol
Reload Pistol

Some punk with a particularly massive mohawk rushes Caphound, so she cracks the knife out of his hand with the bat in her hand. She may also have crunched a few bones and been shot at some point in there. She lives for the moment, not the memory. She swings again, this time for his knee. He stumbles forward and screams, which draws out a sick chuckle in turn as Caphound kneels behind the punk to line up a half-decent shot on some dickhead going at Twitch and Oka. It wasn't that he'd stop a bullet or anything. Any gangster in Heat City would have a handgun big enough to drill straight through a man. Nah, she just doubted their ruthlessness. She herself wouldn't hesitate, unless it was Okeana. Maybe Solomon, too. He was alright.

For a more gentle sort, the way she calmly actioned a reload of her pistol with a man howling and bawling in pain next to her may have been disquieting, maybe even nightmarish. Certainly, the dog mask added a surreal element that wouldn't be out of place in a horrid fever dream. But if any of the crew were a gentle sort, they'd be dead by now. Except for that goth, Penny or whoever. Whatever. She shrugs and moves to make a final crippling blow on her impromptu cover. Killing him outright would be less fun. Amusingly, he still tried to get out of the way of the bat. He still thought he might come out of this intact. Caphound cackles.

The sound of sirens cut through the gunfight. The police is here. There are some dancing partners with steps you never try to match. The Boys in Blue roll deep and heavy and they always, always, always bring donuts and lead in abundant supply.

Twitch marks, in the little quiet space in his head, that he's none too used to the palpation of the heart that come with genuine worry. It's rule number #3. You Don't Mess With The Cops.

The Jack bosses, made of stronger stuff than their cronies, show their mettle. Spades guns down Twitch in a hail of bullets, while Clubs comes charging out the bathroom, shrugging off pistol shots to shank the living shit out of Rick and turn his organs in a bloody mess. The gang takes its first losses of the night, even as the cops begin their approach. The shitstorm is threatening to turn into a full-on shit tornado.

After Heckler's furious assault on the Jack, Blackjack almost immediately made a stab through the back of the man's neck. She would call it overkill, if she hadn't seen the Patriot in action, once. That made her reconsider what the human body was capable of withstanding.

"Jacks now? They're jacking my branding, is what they're doing." Blackjack grumbles. She'd need to get Lena a new codename. Maybe something else gambling related? Roulette might be nice.

Twitch died. That was the tipping point. She didn't really mourn him, not like Terry, but his death made her really fucking angry anyway. She leaps off the counter to head around and give her bat a bit more action, only slowing to carefully sidestep around Okeana and not disturb her aim.

She instinctively knew as soon as she saw the Jack boss that she couldn't get to him in this run. She'd have to settle for someone lesser. Someone like the motherFUCKER who shot Oka. Armour or not, she wasn't going to just stand for that; she was going to cave his skull in for that.

Shots slam into kevlar, Twitch falls over, an earbud falls out. Suddenly, the smoke beneath her feet swirls like the Moscow sleet as Caphound makes a rabid lunge toward the nearest punk.

This is now, this is then, the concrete is so, so, cold. Oкeaнa's spine seizes with chills.

"Maдaм, пoчeмy oхpaнники иcпoльзyют питбyлeй? Paзвe дpyгиe coбaки нe являютcя лyчшими бoйцaми?"
[Madam, why do the guards use pit bulls? Aren't other dogs better fighters?]

"Пoтoмy чтo, мoй Poбин, дpyгиe coбaки тeбя yбьют a yйдyт. Teпepь дaйтe кoмaндy. Бyдьтe блaгoдapны, чтo вы caми eщe нe зaбиpaeтe жизни."
[Because, my Robin, other dogs will kill you and quit. Now give the command. Be thankful you are not taking lives yourself today.]

The dog is held by a man from the eastern side. Men like him are all over the compound, outnumbering even the cockroaches this time of year. She recognizes this one, though. His name is unknown to her, but once she had seen him call the dog, нeжный, from the window this morning. He had looked happy, a happy dog in the snow then.

The gun in she clutched was so, so cold. She and the other girls were training outside all morning. It is still too big for her hands. A man's pistol in a girl's fingers, leaving knuckles white and wrists screaming. There was no protest though. the girl knew, this is what happens to protestors. The man before her was bound and gagged, tarp spread out under his writhing body, the only feature visible a pair of bloodshot blue eyes. Thankfully, the girl was not taking lives directly today. She was versed in killing, but the lesson was one of a killer's intent, not just a finger on a trigger.

The words come from the girl's mouth now as they did then.

"тaк их"

The blood puddling around her feet makes the dance floor feel a little warmer.

Hey, what's that in the hallway past Alan? That's a back door, is what it is. Leaving the way you came in is looking less and less like a thing that is happening, so another way out of this place is a sight for sore eyes.

You can also try to escape off the sides of the map anywhere outside the club, but you'll have to roll a Cool check not to get grabbed by the 5-0. The back doors is the way to go if you want a safe exit. Only problem being that time is extremely fucking limited.

Most of the women who were being used like playdolls by the Jacks either escaped in the first few moments of the brawl, or cowered under furniture until they saw an opportunity and ran. One stayed behind. The killing blow on the Jack of Hearts goes to a woman with a fresh scar on her face. She surprises him from behind and drives a broken bottle into his neck, causing a pulsing geyser of arterial blood. The Jack's assault rifle burst goes wild, bullets slamming into the walls and ceiling, until eventually he drops the gun and falls to the ground. The pulses of blood slow, then fade away.

"The others teams are probably going to get the target. Let's move to secure our exfil." Heckler says as he slips into the next room, slipping the last magazine on his vest into his AR. It takes him a moment as he produces one of the two satchels that have been hanging off him, and opens the zip, revealing a good stash of magazines for SMG's, AR's and Pistols, alongside a couple of slide loaders of shotgun shells. "Ammo bag deployed. I sadly don't have any fuck toys for Sully."

Past her flies Boulder, as skeevy as always. She wouldn't be left behind. Her eyes light up with an unhinged gleam. She pauses in front of Poole, just about baying for his and Spider's blood, but wrenches herself away with a snarl to loose her rage on someone she /didn't/ need to keep alive. A pistol round whizzed past Honey Badger's head, barely even phasing the former merc. This was an aggravating situation, an indoors shootout they couldn't just bumrush. The enemy was well-entrenched, and he could get a good shot. He pondered for half a second... Only for two of his comrades to just bumrush the enemy leader and beat him to a pulp. A sigh left his mouth, audible through his mask filter. "Have a little more regard for your own lives, you damn kids." He reported his attention to the next target, sliding another mag into place.

Non Grata presses the Jack's backup sidearm and $100 in cash into the hands of the girl with the fresh scar on her face. She's scared but is keeping her head, and seems to know where the back door is. The Jack's wallet and keys, Non Grata keeps for himself, along with a scrap of paper he has a quick glance at before stuffing it in his pocket -- somebody's handwriting, numbers, maybe a phone number. Some information to check out later.

Right now there's two accountant nerds to kidnap and/or interrogate at gunpoint. Jenkins is frozen up, muttering a plea for his life over and over, while Harry Poole is making all kinds of excuses to the bloody-masked Caphound. Neither is in any kind of position to put up a fight. Do what you want with them. Just make sure you have enough time to do it and get the hell out of there.

Jesus christ, just how many cops ARE there outside right now?! Seems like HCPD never throws five or six uniforms at a problem when instead they can throw forty. And if they get pushed back, there's Heat City SWAT to deal with. Those assholes have become more and more aggressive and militarized ever since the Patriot ran roughshod over them last year. Got embarrassed, probably, and want to act as tough as possible now. So you'd better do your thing before they show up, cause these uniforms are just the start of the pain train HCPD can run if they get mad.

He could hear the sirens. The merc had seen his comrades seize both objectives, and the police was bearing down on them. On top of that, the extraction was far, far away. She hears the sirens, and as much as she's kill-crazed, Caphound isn't stupid. She ignores Poole and gets to scarpering. Boulder can handle that, and Okeana... where's Oka? Last she'd seen she was... damn it, running in to slap some patches or something on Boulder.

Caphound whirls around. "Oka!" /Don't panic, she'll be fine. You wouldn't like her if you had to fret over her./ That's what she told herself, or what someone had told her, but that didn't stop her mouth going bone dry. "Oka, come on, I'm waiting for you!"

Mizuchi eyed the door, the route to freedom slightly ajar as the discordant sounds of more and more sirens mixed with the club music. Instinctually, he began to run, then that same inner vigor that lead him to drag Jacketwolf's mangled body from the club at the cost of taking a hail of pistol fire kicked in again. He wheeled through the remains of the nearby door, slamming up against the wall and drawing his pistol. "Move people, move! I've still got clips to burn!"

After tangling with the Jacks all night, getting shot and stabbed to hell, it feels good to Ramirez and Boulder to not only reach their targets but to put them down with one good hit each. Nice when something is easy for a change.

Upstairs is an office, maybe a counting room. Piles of money, drugs, and jewelry sit half-sorted on old wooden desks. A trail of dollar bills, some still fluttering slowly to the ground, lead out an open window and across the roof, away from the cops. Some empty duffel bags lie on the floor -- Entry and Jim each grab one hastily shove what they can of the loot inside.

Smoke grenades go out, covering the entrances to the coatcheck foyer -- that is, the doors and the big hole you made with a car. Might be enough to screen your exit. Guess you'll find out.

There was nobody in that room, so uhhh, so much for those grenades, but they certainly made a nice loud bang. And hey, at least there's a door. Looks like you'll need it, too. HCPD isn't going to let a little smoke stop them for long.

In the hallways, Badger takes a bullet but is covered by Castle and Max, while in the main room of the club, the first couple cops to try and push ahead eat a hail of bullets from all the crooks with guns at the ready. The other cops hang back and take cover, not so eager to run out there anymore, which gives everyone on the crew left inside just enough time to slip out the back.

The exits get a little crowded, but in interest of not taking a bullet in the back, everyone squeezes through pretty quick. A warm breeze blows through the alleyways as the team splits up to the respective escape routes, knowing they'll eventually all wind up at one of the same few places, the pre-arranged meeting spots and safe houses that your crew knows are still secure, those that are hidden or run by close friends.

It cost you, but you're one step further towards paying back Spider for what he's done, and avenging the Boss. Whether it's justice, revenge, power, violence, or just a good old-fashioned payday, tonight you got a little closer to what you wanted.

The first drink goes down easy. The others, not so much.

Before your vision blurs too hard, you pull out the note and have a look. You thought it was a phone number, at first, when you had a quick glance at it in the club. But there are actually only six numbers. And wait, this one isn't even a number, it's an "E". 12E219. What the hell is this?

The earbuds come out, are wound neatly and are tucked straight into a vest pocket. There are small, black spots on the edges of her gloves where the rubber has worn in from this little ritual. Oкeaнa walks over to her car, a 1980 Datsun Fairlady Z, sent over with her right out of the factory. They both were, really.

Her bag goes straight into the trunk, and Oкeaнa walks around to the front. Keys jingle and turn, a motor thrums. She plugs her Walkmann into the stereo.

Ramirez dumps the accountant into the getaway van like a sack of potatoes, before stopping to help anyone else heading to the safehouse in. "Come on, come on, we don't have long before they get us!"

He's in last after everyone's embarked, nervously sitting at the back with shotgun readied. The safehouse is a welcome sight by the time it pulls into view. "Phew. We made it. Too bad about RIck and Twitch, though." A sigh.

Changed into a neat black suit, tophat and purple shirt, Doctor Ben conducts preparations in the darkened room. Candles are lit and a glass of Havana Maximo is set out, along with two expensive cigars and some grilled peanuts. Chanting in an unholy mix of English, French and Ewe, Ben pours the rum onto the floor three times - for Rick, for Twitch and an extra large one for Wolf. May their spirits arrive to the underworld safely and quickly, guided by Baron Samedi. The sacrifice, both expensive and taken from their enemies, should please him enough for that.

Tucking her pistol back into her pocket and slinging her bat over her shoulder, Caphound jerks her head in Okeana's direction. "Hnnh? Jerry's?" She nods enthusiastically. " 'Was about to say all that killing made me hungry! You're psychic, Oka." She steps into the passenger's side, having not been particularly far from her maybe-friend's side anyway. Was there a word for that? She rolled her head back in thought for a moment.

Nah, probably not.

The mask tenderly comes off and she brushes some /something/ off it out the window. Her face is sweaty under the mask. All of her body is, really. Not much of it was left though, so she wasn't in danger of sticking to the seat. She laughs as the energy of the battle runs out of her, laying the bat over into the backseat and then sinking into her own.

"You got cash?" she asks suddenly, jolting up and patting her pants. "I think I've got—ah, gotcha!" She produces a pink wallet with a kitten lined black and filled with white on its front. She holds up a finger to try and forestall any mockery. "Don't—don't laugh, alright? 's not mine. I found this in some blonde bimbo's hand after I told her I'd break her fingers 'n pop her boobs if she didn't." She looks over at Okeana and flashes a sly smile, a rare thing for Caphound, whose face is normally split by wide, toothy grins of anticipation, enjoyment, or ecstasy. "What a cliche, right? Anyway, I think there's a few fifties and twenties in there. Think I saw a hundred, too. So I can do the money shit, yeah?"

Heckler steps out of the get away van, unloading weapons as he heads towards the armoury and bunks. Too bad that Rick died, but when you get shanked six times in the chest, there isn't much one can do about it except for field surgery which gets most medics killed.

Ramirez'll need some tools to get the point across, and as soon as he finishes up with those, he proceeds to grab a bucket, a towel, a car battery, some jumper cables and nice set of hand drills.

Solomon piles into the getaway van, blood still dripping off of him and staining the seats. At least he had some time to bandage himself up before the escape. He rubs his hands together, cracks his knuckles and lights up a cigarette.

The ride home is calm, he lets the adrenaline wash out of his system, looking at the street lights pass by. Halfway through he has to sock one of the accountants in the face again, when he looked like he was waking up.

The van comes to a stop and Solomon comes out after Heckler, carrying an accountant over his shoulder and whistling a jolly tune. Inside, he grabs a chair and some duct tape, getting the man ready for the coming interrogation. A thug's work is never done.

>Safehouse, checking loot for any club paperwork mixed in

Entry consulted a pocket ledger on the ride home. Two informers, two bags of cash and contraband. These, in exchange for 52-ing a deck of Jacks and a shift of nightclub staff. Account likely incomplete, the Miss' room having been glossed over during inventory... Typical, but in Entry's estimation, nothing there could balance the additional Give of two colleagues.

Early on, Entry had taken to heart "You get out of life what you give," his father's words. Entry had determined himself to see out the saying's truth, even if, as he also took to heart, the parity could not always be apparent. Even if he was also obliged to permit Misses to complicate transactions, throw off all his models.

That was why he had joined The Gang. In concert, mens' Get and Give rose and fell with more stability, and more vitally, in parallel. Men and Misses, averagers and error sinks. The loss of specificity was annoying, but tolerable, for his mind's peace...

Which had been disturbed by Spider's deviation, now an outstanding balance on the former level of Entry's short but notable series of mothers. If anything in the bag could lead to Spider, that might be sufficient Get after all.

Boulder looked at each and every bloodied face of his comrade in the getaway vehicle. Sully, Ramov, Caphound, Okeana, Heckler and.... ugh, Sin. In his armpit, the neck of the accountant is still clutched tightly. A few faces are missing from his squad, though that's a fact he have long accepted since he entered the crime game.

"A botched job. Shame that the police came that soon. Could've gotten much smoother otherwise. We got what we came here for though. Mr. Accountant here and us are going to have a nice long civil chat, isn't that right my man?"

The poor pencil pusher taps on the muscled arm that is slowly tightening more and more around his neck, threatening death by asphyxiation.

Pain. The merc clutched his shoulder as he walked towards the getaway van. No, to be honest, he was more annoyed than anything. A cop had scored a lucky shot at him as he coordinated the evac. He could feel the warm blood seeping into the fabric. Not only that, but two kids had died under his watch, because he had tried to do something fancy. This felt arguably worse than the bullet. He had promised the boss he'd keep everyone safe, and yet the moment she was gone, he had lost two people? Fucking pitiful.

He hopped into the van, giving Ramirez a nod. "Good job out there." After unloading his rifle, he grabbed a knife, the first aid kit under one of the seats, and dug the tip of the blade into the bullet wound. Seconds later, the crunched up bullet hit the metal roof with a ping. Letting out a sigh, he poured medical alcohol on the wound, and methodically bandaged it. This would do for now. The merc then looked around at his companions. "Alright kids. When we get back to base, who wants some s'mores?" If someone had peeked under the mask, they could have seen a faint, tired, yet proud smile.

The first mission was expectedly disappointing. Like a man visiting his girlfriend's parents or finding himself in a new clique, Alan's actions were too awkward and stiff trying not to mess up so much he failed to really stand out.

The night was still pretty good however as he at least got a sense of the group he'd joined so he considered that a plus.

The young assassin was standing half in his beat up compact, swearing under his breath as he tried to turn over the thing. Hearing Alan talking behind him, he turned around, carefully shutting the door as not to slam his braided hair in it, he'd been laughed at by the crew for doing that before. He looked around, somewhat nervously, after hearing the young psychopath's offer to hang out. Alan was weird, he was drinking buddies with Jacketwolf by extension of hanging out with the rest of the crew, but she was a predictable, consistent kind of fucking insane. Still, his sixth sense gave him an even more nervous vibe from the masked killer.

Mizuchi will sigh. "Eh, sure, why the hell not? Grab whatever seat you want, think I got room for the three of you in this old thing if you're down to come with too. We'll swing by Mitch's Videodrome since it's still open this time of night, great guy, imports a lot of foreign shit if you're into that." At this, he'd turn around and finally start the damn car. Part of him wondered if this timing was coincidental.

The psychic Russian lets out a snicker at the sight of such a girly wallet, escalating into a ladylike chuckle with the accompanying story. Pulling into the parking lot, she checks her holster before cutting the engine and opening the driver's door. A pair of impeccably shiny aviators rises from the doorframe, and Heat City smog mixes with a bright coastal breeze, catching Oкeaнa's equally bright red hair as she surveys the lot. The sight of at least one friendly already eating puts her at ease somewhat. She leans forward with her hips, steel toes coming off the pavement as her head pokes back inside the car. >Late Night Diner

Ramov goes to a small diner in one of the more run down districts to see his friend Joseppi, one of the oldest living criminals in the city.

After some introductions and small talk they order food and eat in silence when Jossepi, who has clearly been shifting his weight uncomfortably a few times finally says

"Ramov, one of my informants tell me you and a bunch of the surviving crew of that dead boss attacked the jacks and killed 4 of there heads.. tell me I didint have him beat up for telling me the truth"

Ramov remains quiet a few moments knowing this would come and his mentor would scold him but how could he understand

"Your informant was right Jossepi..."

Jossepis eyes light up

"ανόητος! Have you learnt nothing! You shouldve left town after the ambush you idiot, do you want to die is that it? hm?"

"What do you expect from me? To forget an attempt at my life like that? You think spiders going to stop before he sees us all dead? We either kill him or we die regardless that is how it is"

Jossepi has defeated look in his eyes, he knows this his seen what happens when people try to run seen the story played out a hundred times before

"You know all this already old man why did you ask me?"

Jossepi smirks

"because I wanted to make sure i wasent giving you these in vain.."

Mizuchi will look over as the injured psycho hops into the passenger seat. He'll motion his head towards the glove box. "Put a First Aid Kit in there if you need one, tearing up a perfectly good suit to patch up my wounds at the club and then driving to get burgers is not an experience I'm going to repeat. Anyhow, it's the same Mitch. You just go into the alley by the pet shop and there's stairs down to the basement. Don't steal anything or I'll ram this katana down your throat." He said the last part quite chipperly as he put the car into gear.

His eyes will light up. "Homecooked noodles huh? Soory, but I've never learned how to cook, assassin work pays the food bill pretty damn well. I can't say I'm not excited at the possibility though, cheap stuff has played havoc on my digestion. His face scrunches into a slight frown as he hears Mizuchi say that.

"Do you really have to threaten to kill me though? It doesn't have to be the first thing that pops into your mind when you speak to people you know? Gotta compartmentalize one life with the others, keep yourself sane or at least grounded in reality. Least that was what I was told."

However Alan quickly fixed his mood when the topic of food came up.

"I dunno how to make them man, does the crew have any Japs around who know how to cook? Maybe if we hit a Yakuza crew one of the Geishas will ride with us this time haha"

"Speaking of noodles though I know lots of people have a thing against Victor Charlies but man can they make a good Pho. Great coffee too, shame a bunch of them closed down after the war."

"I dunno man, I've seen both like 3 times. The only fun I get out those movies is hearing people talk about Childs and Macready-... Well that's a spoiler."

"You can watch those movies any time you want is what I'm saying, mark my words they'll get immortalized and years from now people will still be talking about them and the extreme diarrhea Arnold had during filming. I'm really in the mood for something weird like Fritz- wait no that gets pretty explicit borderline porn. Maybe Cobra?"

Alan straightens his back and speaks in a deep slurred voice like he'd been hit by a dart filled with horse tranquilizer

"You're the disease, and I'm the cure."

He rubs his chin with his fingers and hums in thought before slapping his seat!

"I will throw myself on the taste of you and Alan when it comes to picking out movies, Hollywood is not the film scene I follow."

He'll turn a tad red, realizing he offhandedly threatened to murder a comrade.

"Soory about that, access to my fresh Japanese imports is a life and death matter to me. Mitch is the go to guy in Heat City for these, and I felt like a warning was necessary bringing several killers to his establishment. Though I can tell from your taste in film that you have developed taste in media as well, and that I have nothing to fear."

He'll tap his chin, somewhat hungry now considering the food talk.

"Vietnamese food has never quite been to my liking, guess people went after all the good ones' first during the war, since they came to mind first. What a shame..."

The girl doesn't answer for a while. She has long dark hair and a striking face, now marred by a line drawn by a knife or a bottle across her nose and below her eye. The street lights illumate her thoughtful expression at rhythmic intervals. "I've been using different dancer names for so long, I almost forgot what I used to be called," she says eventually. "Destiny, Charity, Faith, lots of virtue names. But I think I'm done with that, now. Call me -- hmm. Let's go with Mary."

"Is that your real name?" Jenny asks.

She doesn't answer.

"We're here," MIzuchi announces, pulling the compact up to the video store.

The bell on the front door tinkles as Mizuchi enters, followed by the others. Crowded shelves loaded with dusty video covers, posters on the walls showing muscular actors posing with guns or blades. "Hey, Mitch," Mizuchi says to the squat, hairy man seated at the counter.

Mitch grunts, not looking up from his small television set with built-in VCR. A black and white film shows samurai duelling with clashing blades.

"Yeah, I can really tell you're glad to see me alive and well," MIzuchi says. "I, uh, brought some friends, I'm thinking we should hole up for a while until all those sirens die down."

Mitch grunts again and waves towards the back. "Your usual spot's open."

Past the new release section, through the rows of foreign films, and around a corner, in back of the store is a set of worn but comfortable couches and armchairs with milk crate end tables, in front of a couple of television sets hooked up to VCRs. There's also the latest in home entertainment video game systems: an Atari, a Nintendo, and a Bomb King arcade machine. On a shelf is Mizuchi's collection of his favorite tapes: Zaltron X, Hundred Fist Puncher, Catgirl Panic, and -- uh oh, did he leave Doki Doki Shoujo out? How embarassing!

Jameson is an old Irish fellow who tries to keep his bar neutral of all the turf wars around here. By the end of the night, it's just him and Non Grata left. While pouring the fifth shot of tequila, Jameson says, "Rought night, huh kid? But maybe more rough nights to come, from the sound of it." He slides the shot glass forward. "Don't drown yourself in sorrow just yet. You'll need to keep your head in the game. Toast the fallen, but be ready to soldier on."

Torture turns out to not even be necessary, much to the chagrin of Jim. Solomon just punches Harry in the face and bellows, "Where's Spider? What the fuck is he doing?" and the numbers man can't spill his guts fast enough. It's a pathetic sight, really. Heckler laughs his hyena laugh, watching from nearby. Jenkins seemed like he was preparing to put up a tougher fight, but just sighs like the air went out of him when the guy next to him gives the whole show away, and confirms his story.

Spider's made a deal with the rival syndicates from the nearby neighborhoods. They've all made an agreement to carve up Freedom Square between them. None of them are known for their benevolence. The Jacks, with their alleyway knife boys and shakedown rackets, were probably the least bad of the whole lot. This is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

From these guys you're able to get some details on who these allies of Spider are, and where you can find them. As for the man himself, they say Spider left the neighborhood and is probably holed up somewhere in Castle Green. You're pretty sure these spineless weasels would tell you exactly where, if they knew, but that's all they can give you. This is probably all you're going to get from them. Do what you want with them.

In the kitchen, Boulder digs into one of several bags of Big Bad Burger and unwraps a double-decker burger, while nearby Badger sits finishing up a bandage on his wound. Ramov enters, having arrived late, and sets a wooden box down before taking a seat at the table and grabbing a burger for himself.

"What you got in the box?" Boulder asks.

"Little something from a friend," Ramov says.

Alan rushes over to the gaming console and tries to set it up
"Wait there's an Atari here! Let's play that instead."

"Plus it wasn't THAT weird, don't you just love to watch a terrible flick and shit on it?"

"Looks like no home made dinner tonight though unless Mitch is willing to let us use his kitchen."

"What'ya guys wanna order? Sushi?"

>>4063335
As Alan fiddles with the console his eyes quickly goes over Mizuchi's anime collection, a glint in his eye shines as he gives the Assassin a thumbs up

"Nice."

"Bomber king 2vs2 with comps?"

>>4063502
A long moment passes as he finally hooks up the Atari properly. Alan just looks at the scarred girl with a blank stare.

"So Mary what's the plan? Much as I don't like throwing people out in the rain, I don't think we can keep just cause we want too. Course you can probably stay the night but what's the plan after that?"

Alan gives Jenny a cold look, his face not twitching or betraying any sort of emotion for even a moment.

"It's up to you Ms. Death but she isn't some sort stray you just pick up and have everything go hunky dory. Housing's gonna be the least of her problems too since she's a witness, even killed probably a lieutenant."

"If you wanna keep her hidden in your apartment when Spider's already looking for members of the original gang, probably for people who saw what happened tonight too then by all means try to play hero."

"Who knows, keeping her with you might even put a bigger target on her back than if she'd just try to hide on her own."

As Bomber king opens up and the start menu appear, the psychopath's face lights up as he settles himself with a controller.

"Also Jenn, Mary what'ya want to order for food. Come on I'm starving man we'll order from multiple places if you guys can't decide."
>>
>>4063535
"Same could be said for you, too. I have my precautions, and I doubt she does. Letting her go home is just manslaughter with extra steps. Oh, Mary, I can sleep on the floor if you're not fine with sharing a bed."

The young street samurai, desperately hoping he is playing this even remotely cool, fumbles to grab the Doki Doki Shoujo tape from the shelf and slip it into his jacket pocket. He hadn't intended to stop by with friends, or he would have hid the romance stuff. It's bad for his image.

>>4063504
"Y-yeah, s-sure Jenny. My private reserve is open, if y-you're not feeling western media. M-maybe you or Mary are secretly into anime." He'd chuckle and wave his arm dramatically towards the self, the pink and heart covered VHS sleeve very blatantly visible in his pocket.

>>4063515
>>4063541
The offer seemed to recover some confidence, as the samurai took his usual armchair and grabbed the other controller. "Sure, I'm game. Kick Mitch's ass in this all the time. Ain't that right?" The manager wouldn't turn from his movie to acknowledge Mizuchi. He somehow had friends tonight to bear his antics.

"Pizza sounds good to me. Pineapple and ham on mine, always been a fan of the Hawaiian."
>>
>>4063507
"So, Ramov, Badger, everyone. Got a question for you all. What now?"

Boulder swipes off a bit of ketchup splattered on the side of his cheeks before continuing.

"I mean, what are your plans now? Spider's sure as hell will put up a resistance after our stunt tonight. Honestly, I'm just here for the face smashing. Men like me can't stand without action. You guys though... pretty sure its better to dip out now. I mean, last I check , most thugs in Heat fucking City aren't too keen on holding out their neck for their bosses, especially dead ones."

Boulder reaches out for yet another burger, slurping his drink before opening the wrap and start chowing again.

"There's no turning back now. It's do or die. We don't want anybody going stiff when we're out there. Hey, who ordered the chicken sandwich? Oh yeah, me. It's for Rick. Damn, this is like Jacketwolf all over again."
>>
>>4063550
"Ughh I bet you're one of those people that puts chickpeas and apricots on their pizza you freak."

Alan gives him a look of absolute disgust before bursting out into laughter.

"Haha I never really got the whole pineapple wars people go on about. Food's food really, at least it's not chickpeas and apricot pizza or even worst, pear and strawberry pizza. Even then I'd probably eat it."

"So just to cover out bases let's get 1 Hawaiian, 1 Meatlovers and 1 Pepperoni with a dozen wings and garlic bread sticks? Everybody good with Flaming Nero's?"

"That'd be like 5 bucks a person... Unless somebody's offering to pay."

She shrugs, then winces as the motion's pain finally breaks through Caphound's tolerance and rapidly fading adrenaline. "Never tried it." She pulls herself out of the car and follows her into the diner. "Probably not if they're real. Hell if I know though. I'll have to give it—hnnh—give it a go." She still had a few stabs and bullet wounds from after Okeana wrapped her, didn't she? She didn't feel lightheaded yet, so they couldn't be bleeding too bad, but she'd still have a look at that. She didn't want to bother Okeana with it though. /Oh, god, she hadn't bled into her seat had she?/ Her eyes go wide with panic as she pulls behind Okeana and tries to think. /She'd kept it clear, she must've./

(Weird 3 for having done something about her bleeding by instinct while in the car.)

>Feed a sweet tooth with doughnuts AND cake.

"I'm /hungry/," Caphound blurts out as soon as she sits down. "And I wanna fuckin' live a little. Let's get something sweet." She snatches up a menu and immediately flips to the sweets/desserts section, tapping her finger down the list. She had no idea what most of the descriptions or names even meant, so this'd be a gut thing. What sounded nice? She'd order a bunch of it. The other girls could have some too, maybe. Oka definitely could, anyway. Nothing /wrong/ with Blackjack, but Oka was Oka.

(Weird 3 again to pick out what she'd like most from the menu since she doesn't have a clue)

Mizuchi will make a half turn in his se-"No, Mizuchi." The short manager said, before he could even open his mouth. "Ah come on, really? I bring you three more customers and you won't even spring for a midnight snack? Not cool man..." He'll fish through the pockets of his blazer, then his pants, and pulls out his wallet. "I'd brought money for the crew in case it wasn't *actually* all drinks free the night shit went down. I can spring for it." He'll sigh, remembering again what happened.

Jenny leans uncomfortably close to Mizuchi to whisper in his ear.
"I've seen all the episodes of Catgirl Panic. Subbed."

Mizuchi's eyes would sparkle in awe. He'd look around and half shout, half whisper. "Holy shit...even I haven't watched the official subs...that's a bootleg on the shelf, best Mitch could get his hands on..." He'd look around, nervously, not sure if he should ask this. "Would...uh...are you a fan of Doki Doki Shoujo perhaps? Mitch got the newest volume in last weekend, haven't had a chance to watch it. Th-the usual otakus who come in think I'm lame for liking it."

"I like this city. And the rest of you, on average." Entry takes off his pillow-case mask and the trucker cap holding it down. He uses them to fan a poorly-shaven face, young-ish and dirty blonde. >>4063616
"... Here." Entry pushes a row of bags toward Boulder, and frowns. He leaves the table for a wastebasket, and returns to sort the trash.

"Anyone Spider's after must be scrambling as much as us, for survival and maybe a little revenge. What's this 'bad or good for us?' You expect someone wants exclusive rights on whacking Spider so they can claim credit? They'd need a sponsor first. We shouldn't have that kind of competition for a while."

Solomon takes a moment out of his spicy chicken wing slaughter to look up in Boulder's direction. He talks between a wing and the other, blood-red sauce staining his chin.

"To be honest, mate..." *CRUNCH* "...I don't know or care so much about this boss of yours." *CHOMP* "Let's jus' say a friend of a friend whom I owe a favour to told me to get involved." *SMACK* "Turns out you can't slice up Freedom Square without pissing off someone." *CRACK* "Worked out fine so far for us innit? Shame 'bout Twitch and Rick though..."

The thug seems to get solemn for a moment, before continuing his animalistic assault on the food lait out before him. He grabbed an extra large soda cup, draining it like he hadn't drunk anything in years.

Ramov sits on the tables corner sipping his glass of Havana maximo rum they looted from the club

"Well the boss is dead and that made a power vacuum in the city? so what spider has done is he prevented civil war for the time being by making an.. albiet uneasy relation with the syndicates by giving each a piece of the pie."

he smirks

"well this means good news and bad news for us. Bad news is each of these syndicates gonna be paranoid and ready for attacks. The good news is it shouldnt be too hard to set of the powder keg and when the gangs tearing itself apart by infighting THAT is when spider will be most vulnerable since most of his soldiers will be fighting and even his most loyal goons are going to be on strained loyalty because with the smuggle and drug suply chains disrupted cash will be tight"

"The first rule of heat city is that you can do anything as lontg as you have the money.. I say we take away spiders ability to do things, one of these syndicates control the drug supply lines for Spider, if we hit them and disrupt the supply of drugs to the city everyone will be strapped for cash and be forced to expand, that should prime the powder keg"

"Unless anyones got anything better?"

he leans back taking a gulp from the cup.

>Safehouse

After a quick change and a trip in a near supermarket, Castle returns to the safehouse just in time for see how the rest of the interrogation goes.

In a hawain shirt some shorts and sun glasses, the mostly silent soldier walks in while munching a few biscuits with almonds in it bring their sack in one hand and in the other a spare battery car.

"So how is tough our guy... he has already tell everything ? What a shame."

>>4063507

"Harry are you sure you don t have anything more to say ? What about your friend the other accountant ?"

Castle says while taking a seat on the table, and eating one of the burgers left.

>>4063554

"Now ? Spider probably sit on a good amount of money, and the pay here is decent. We are going to get both"

>>Just coffee and cigarettes.
Not that Jackie had anything against Jerry's food, but she wasn't really hungry at the moment. Given the largely congealed stab wound, she doubted she could keep solids down at the moment. As the waitress brings the coffee, she thanks the pretty lady, and takes a swig of the warming stimulant. Ah yeah. That's the stuff. Setting the coffee on the table, Blackjack lights up, blatantly ignoring the 'No Smoking' sign.

>>4063565
Exhaling her smoke away from the other girls, Blackjack leans back in her seat, throwing her arms out across the back of the booth. "So, girls, what's your deal? Got any reasons for blasting up a club for the Boss?" Taking a sip of coffee, she squints at Caphound. "You look familiar. Like, uhhh," she struggles to think of the name for a moment, before snapping her fingers in recognition. "Oh! Jacketwolf, that's right! You're her sister." Taking a puff from her cigarette, she asks, "So how's she been doing recently? I haven't worked with the Boss' crew in a while. Got called in this whole mess by a friend." The normally quiet assassin seems to be drawn out of her stoic facade by either the comfortable atmosphere in Jerry's, or the blood loss. Probably the blood loss.
>>
>>4063652

"What Ramov said. See, the more groups that is in play, the more factors are unaccounted for. That adds up the number on the denominator, which lowers the value of the number above. which in turn lowers the percentage of something NOT fucking us up when we're on the field. To tell you the truth, I'd rather play Blackjack than Roulette if you catch my drift."

>>4063651

"Part of the OGs alongside us and the others. The first... no second casualty of Spider's coup, to us that is. His goons stormed our club and we had to fight our way through. Still, her sister's doing fine but geez, I didn't warm up to her sister and I certainly don't warm up to her. Psychos giving me the creeps ya get me? Liable to just go ape shit one day and lop off our heads in our sleep for all we know."

> Rare winter decides to take one of the accountants and let him run loose. Tailing him from a distance, just out of sight, watching where he goes and what he does. And when he draws near a safehouse belonging to Spider or his associates, perhaps relieved that he managed to survive his brush with death, tension draining from his chest, head lifting skywards as the tiniest amount of optimism begins blooming within him, she'll drive a bullet or two into the back of his skull, and disappear back into the urban sprawl just as swiftly.

"Well first order of business then is we find someone, maybe a higher up in one of the syndicates to outline the biggest link in the chain and hit that, my guess is its probably going to be in south harbor.. here" pointing to it on the map "but chances are good theyre using a place in gatorland too to smuggle it in too thats just a guess. Since the beaches to the east are full of tourists which means cops and the north is rocky and has a civilian road, not exactly the perfect place to tranport tons of cocaine through so south harbors gonna be the most likely culprit"

He finishes of the glass he was drinking from

"But thats just an educated guess we wont know exactly how and where until we get someone wholl know"

>>4063507
Jim clicked his tongue after the 'interrogation'. He wasn't blood thirsty, but he couldn't help but feel listless. It didn't seem like the Boss' revenge was any closer than it was before, and he didn't even get to lay into anyone. Doing it now would have felt worthless.

Alan's ears perk up as he hears the conversation. His face scruntches up in disgust and annoyance as he hears them talk about their Yuri story.

"Bleegh DoDo Shojo had some potential but it was so obviously fetish bait made to appeal to girls love enthusiasts with cliche bullcrap and unrealistic main characters made to fit blatant archeypes."

"Also Yumi x Sachiko really?! Literally the worst ship, I mean I get Sachi was in love and she was confused on how to express it but holy shit the amount of will they won't they and forced drama made me so frustrated."

"Ayaka was a better friend to Yumi than Sachiko ever was, had much better chemistry too but nooo the designated couple's already set even when they're shit for each other."

"The ending for Aya's arc pissed me off even more. God I hope Ayaka at least ends up with Taro, he's lame and boring but gahhhh I just want best girl to be happy with SOMEBODY!"

"She won't even fight for her feelings because she's so nice and because she thinks Yumi could never love her since Aya THINKS Sachi's better suited for her which is false!"

As he spoke Alan started getting more and more heated, losing focus on the game and dying to a rogue bomb

"Fuck, what a waste of time! I didn't learn jackshit from that and I can't even play any of the characters because I, as a probably deranged serial killer, can't make any of those characters work realistically or interestingly."
>>
>>4063800
Caphound buoyantly ignores the question. "I didn't think I'd seen you much before, guess that's why. Me, I'm the Boss's girl through and through. You wouldn't catch me getting bossed 'round by anyone else."
>>
>>4065651
"Yeah, the will they won't they wasn't the best. I'm cool with it though, since the series is continuing. Childhood friends, you know? Would take an act of god to prevent them from getting together, just the nature of the world."

He'll shrug.

"Sachi's dependable too, Yumi needs that shit in her life, you know? I heard shit's gonna go down in this volume, so I trust the writers will show us how they complete each other and get through it."

He'll tap the VHS through his jacket.

"Pfft bullshit Sachi's dependable. Remember in volume two when Sachiko started ghosting Yumi and being awkward around her once she realized she was in love?"

"Then remember immediately after that near the end when she saw Yumi talking to Daisuke and got all crazy jealous? I was still KIND okay with her up until that point but that part just made me hate her so much when the whole misunderstanding could have been so easily been cleared if they just talked like normal human beings."

"And she SHOULD have known Daisuke was actually Yumi's cousin, they've been friends for so long and even take trips together."

"It was even worst because at that point Yumi thought she was losing her best friend and her personal insecurities were flaring up telling her she wasn't worthy of being Sachiko's friend which could have been solved so easily if they fucking TALKED!!"

"Also I like childhood friends I really do, but I don't believe in good archetypes I believe in good characters!"

"I mean have you seen that new issue of Mothman where they reintroduced Flying Lantern?"

"He was a joke character but when they actually showed his backstory and the struggles he had to go through to be where he was now, man that's amazing writing. They made him really cool even if the writers still use him as a punching bag."
>>
>>4070551
>>
>>4070551
"Hey, come on man, you're cherry picking here. That was before her big character development in volume three, all that was intentional. I guess you probably missed that because of how hard seeing her makes you seethe, eh?"

He'll smirk, satisfied with himself.

"I'm unfamiliar with the recent Mothman run, I don't read Western comics, the cyclical nature of them got tiresome after a while. I swear, they do some cool shit and then they retcon it a year later. Bet the same thing will happen with Flying Lantern when someone decides they want to make things less grim. This trend toward edginess will die out before the nineties even start, bet on it."
>>
>>4070843
Jenny retreats from the conversation as it shifts toward Western comic books, instead heading over to the Bomb King arcade cabinet to burn some time.
>>
>>4070843
"Nope already read that part, shit just went back to the statues quo and nobody learned anything at all a few chapters later. Also regardless Ayaka is best girl and nothing you say can convince me otherwise."

"Disregarding DoDo Shoujo because we can probably only agree to disagree you limit your media digestion too much, Western comics, Eastern literature and European Folklore, hell even Middle Eastern stories have so many interesting things to say."

"We're in Heat city man, it's a melting pot of different cultures and personalities, are you seriously only going to limit yourself to learning about the Japanese when you have so much more on your finger tips? So many cultures to learn, so many stories to hear. This gang itself is a multi ethnic miracle don't you think?"

"If you think a few comics become repetitive, find the good ones. Like Sandman's more of an Anthology but the different stories are so wonderful and interesting, incorporating lore and mythology from different countries. Johnny Curse has it's own extensive set of magical rules and system basically embodying the idea that the most interesting thing about magic is the things it can't do than the things it can."

"Then there's Electric Warrior which is an amazing "what if" about cybernetic transhumanism and the effects of technology on society which we even see today!"
>>
>>4070973
"Shit I mean I guess? Look man, I get that I shouldn't limit myself on media. You're right that there are incredible stories to tell, but none of it has resonated with me as much as this has."

He'll gesture to his VHS shelf and the katana leaned safely against the armchair.

"Japanese Art truly, truly, speaks to my soul. Without it, I wouldn't be who I am today. Hell, I wouldn't have this job if I didn't. Besides, I like western music. I'm not completely one dimensional. Though, you'd have to be some kind ultra freak to dislike Bonnie Tyler."

He'll sigh, recalling the lyric that tripped him up.

"But, I mean, if you bring your picks by I'll give them a look. Mitch doesn't get new anime in that often, have a lot of downtime."
>>
>>4074398
Alan raises his palms up slightly apologetically

"That's all I ask man, all I'm saying is that every culture's got some good shit if you're willing to look into I'm not trying to force anything down your throat."

"Also Bonnie Tyler's Scottish, the European's got some pretty good music. Have you listened to David Bowie's shit, under pressure yeah but also Modern love's a great jam. That goblin king man his musical range is fucking amazing, real national treasure."

"Fuck man, with this group of weirdos I kinda hope we'll get a dedicated musical weirdo soon haha. I mean Jenny sure, but like a character that straight up brings..."

He has a wonderful thought that makes him jump out his seat.

"LIKE THAT A DRILLTAR! You know?! That shit from slumber party massacre two! Except maybe like a guntar too would work too if they're a pussy."

He'll scratch his chin.

"I know there's some weird fucking people in Heat City, but where would someone get a Drilltaur anyhow?"

He'll stretch out his hand to stop Alan.

"Don't...don't answer that, I know you already know and I really don't want to expand my horizons that way."
