In this world, there are many mysterious creatures known as Pokemon. They come in many shapes and sizes and hold immense power. Some use them as common house pets, others to compete in fancy contests, others try to harness that power and fight amongst others. Your name is Virgil Tankerson you just turned 16 last week and currently living with both your parents and your older brother Chad. You have a pet Yamper named Pantheon. Your brother thought it was a name for a tough guard dog, when they adopted it from the PokeShelter. Though all the pup does is lick whoever comes to the door and bark for attention.

It’s a Tuesday night and your sitting in your room. Your lewd poster of the new poison Galarian Gym leader Klara is slowly peeling off your wall. The current time on your Pikachu clock states 11:50 PM. It’s a school night and you should probably be getting some sleep. Though Chad is playing loud music in the room next door, it doesn’t seem he will be going to sleep anytime soon. Looking over to your nightstand you see your Umbreon beginning to stretch her legs. The rings on her body flicker for a moment soon glowing a bright blue. You’ve only had her for about two weeks now, after purchasing her of a sketchy website. When she came in the mail there were visible bruises on her body. Thankfully your mother is a certified Ms. Joy, and you picked up a thing or two of how to treat a pokemon. You haven't told your family yet that you have a Pokemon.

You swivel around in your rolling chair. “Lumi come here girl,” you beckon the Umbreon. She looks over to you, and slowly strides over. Looking up from her position, her yellow eyes look at you expectedly. Opening a drawer you pull out a long string, with the fluffy Clefairy over at the end. Hanging the Clefairy string over her you watch as she playfully strike the ball, you pull it back from her and watch as she jumps upwards opening her mouth in an attempt to bite the fluffy end.

The music stops in the room next to you, as you hear Chad’s door swing open.

“No, I think I might just stop by the Pokemart and go to sleep. I got a test tomorrow,” you respond.

In the cold silence, Lumi stops walking, her ears twitch as she looks over to a nearby forest.

“Let’s hit the Pokemart. I’ll buy you something to eat.” Whatever Lumi was staring at is no longer of interest to her as she hears about food and begins to dash in the direction of the Pokemart. You pick up the pace, but soon quickly grow tired.

“Lumi s-slow down.” You say as you come to a slow walk. Lumi looks behind you and sighs before walking back to you.

This Pokemart is a little bit more expensive than others, though they are more known for their late-night food sales.

You walk over with Lumi to the food section of the Pokemart and pick out two “Thicc Emboar Hamburgers” known for there juicy tastes, and to build fat into people or Pokemon quickly.” Looking over to Lumi she is toying around with an empty Pokeball that fell of one of the shelves.

“I guess we can get one of these as well,” you say picking the spherical ball of the floor. Walking over to the front of the store you notice that there is a different cashier than when you entered. He is holding a blunt in his hand and puffs out smoke as you step up. “Hey there little dude, nice jacket. For looking totally rad I'll throw in the ball for free”

“Thank you,” you say as you place your items on the desk glad that Chad's gift got you a good deal.

“That’ll be $140,” the cashier says as he takes another hit of his blunt. You hand the cashier the money and walk towards the sitting area in the Pokemart. After warming up the Thicc Emboar Hamburgers, you sit down with Lumi. Her mouth is agape, as you unravel her burger for her. She dives into the burger using her paw to hold the meat down as she bites off small chunks. There is a look of satisfaction on her face, as she swallows her food. There is a television, replaying the local news of events that happened today or that may be happening. There is also an unread message on your phone from Sebastian & Chad.

You do the same as Lumi and bite into the juicy Emboar burger. The nearby television shifts to a local news report happening in your town.

Not sure what she said, you finish hurry and finish eating your hamburger before she can take another bite. “I know these are good, but eating too many of these will make you fat,” you say as you pet Lumi along her back. “Umbreon”, Lumi saying her name again. You know that some people that have been around their Pokemon for a long time have a gist of what they are saying. Most likely due to a deep friendship of being around another. Though some psychic types can speak a human language and act as a translator for money.

You open up your Pokewatch, and read the unread message from Chad. It’s a video of Pantheon dancing in front of a large group of women. They are cheering the pup on. “Go Pantheon! Go Pantheon! It’s your PokeBirthday! Go Chad! Go Chad!”

Sebastian’s message says “You should have been here! It was epic! There were some goons who were crashed the party and threatened to take some of the girls, but Chad saved them in an epic double battle with that Yamper and overly strong Pyukumuku. Why can’t you be more like your brother?”

Lumi comes closer to you and tilts her head to the side, “Um-”

Clicking your tongue you respond to the text, “Rude, I’ll see you in class in the morning.” “It’s getting very late now, let’s go home,” you grab the two burger wrappers and crumbling them into a ball, and tossing it into the nearby trash. Before leaving the Pokemart you purchase a small cake of 3 for $20. The woman that was originally there when you came in is at the counter. “Where did the other guy go?” you ask. The woman looks at her cameras behind the counter, “What other guy? I been the only one here all night.” Before you can respond Lumi is nudging your leg to leave Pokemart.

Shrugging your shoulders you leave the Pokemart, walking by Lumi’s side in the direction of your house. The walk there is uneventful at most, the occasional HootHoot, or Murkrow sitting on a lamppost. You can see your mother through a window working at the front desk of a Pokemon center, she seems to be treating some girl’s Vivillion. Soon you reach your house, it doesn’t seem that Chad is back from the party meaning you could probably catch some Z’s. Your father doesn’t seem to be making anymore, noise. Heading back into your room you notice that your Klara poster has fallen off and is now laying on the floor. You take the small cakes out of your pocket and hand them one of them to Lumi. “Don’t eat them all in one night,” Lumi nods and begins eating into the small treat. While Lumi is distracted eating her treat you quickly change into more comfortable sleeping clothing and lay in bed.

As you get into a comfortable sleeping position you know that something is missing…Lumi. “Lumi come overhear”, you say beckoning the Umbreon over to you. She comes over to you jumping on the bed. There are some crumbs of chocolate on her face from the small cake. Lumi licks your cheek as she snuggles up close to your chest. Your body feels warmer as you cuddle her close. Things seem better after Lumi came into your life, though that may just be because you feel that you have a sense of responsibility to feed and care for something else. Eventually, these thoughts drift away as you start imagining Mareep jumping over a fence, while slowly petting Lumi.

Maybe you should have hidden them from her. Tiptoeing around her, you open your closet and pick an outfit to wear.

Instead of choosing to wear your bright red Supreme Jacket, you opt to wear a black jacket as well with a hint of blue on the arms; Similar to the color of Lumi’s rings. Lastly, you put on a black bandana and keep it around your neck. You think you saw a picture of a guy wearing a bandana around their neck in Gardevoir Fashion Monthly. Wearing dark and grey clothing reminds you of one of those dark type gym leaders you saw on 4chan.

Moving over to Lumi you shake her lightly waking the shiny Umbreon up. You sit down at the table, the Lopunny wearing a frilly maid outfit saunters over behind you, her shoulders high, and slim hips moving while carrying the plate of food in her hands. She places a hand on your shoulder and the food on the table. In your ear there is a low-whisper “Lopunny”. Once more you have no idea what it means, looking around behind you she winks as she disappears into the kitchen. “…So what's her name?” you ask staring at your Buneary shaped pancakes, with whip cream on top. “She’s um,” your father pauses for a moment and stares into the kitchen. “Mia, she’s just visiting…” Nodding your head and smiling slightly you quickly slip on your black shoes and sling your bag over your shoulder. The sun is barely peeking over the houses of the neighborhood, as you make your way towards the bus stop. Though you do feel somewhat hungry after skipping out on breakfast like that. When you reach the bus stop there is a girl with blond hair, wearing a pretty purple school uniform. In her hand is a Pokeball. You think her name was Christine, though you don’t know much about her. In the back of the bus you see Sebastian waving his hand at you, there is also an open seat next to a girl with white hair tied in a ponytail. The photo message that Mia sent you flashes back into your thought process… “Mia wrote that message to me, right? It wasn’t dad?... No no no, it couldn’t be. Why would he?” A speedbump on the road breaks your thought process. Sebastian is still rambling about the party mentioning that Chad is receiving an award from the Gym Leader of the town today. Though the details soon melt away from your attention as you remember the breakfast that you left behind.

“Mia, made the breakfast, she sent the text message, she was able to understand the message that was meant for your father. Could she possibly teach Lumi how to read and write in English? It could be possible right? Mia could cook, read & write just like any other human and she isn’t even a psychic type.”

Sebastian pats your shoulder, breaking you out of your thoughts once more. You’ve arrived at school. Stepping off the bus you notice that some students are heading inside, and socializing. Others are holding a Pokeball in their hand talking about battling before classes start. Maybe you should research more about this later? Why wait though? There is some time before class, though you haven’t eaten yet because you were distracted with your thoughts. Lumi hasn’t eaten either.

You decide to go on 4chan to look for any info, thankfully you browse the threads on the /pokemon/ board often so you already know where to go. First, you browse through /PSY/ and learn that just giving them an alphabet and teaching them slowly may work if they are smart enough already. Though there is a post about something called “LitTransference” that makes the process quicker? After browsing on /PSY/ you take a few bites out of the burrito, before switching threads to /PHG/ due to the Manaphy being in your local area. After some interesting, and eyebrow-raising things about something called “heart swap,” you get sidetracked and go on a thread of Pokemon wearing clothes. You take another bite from your burrito. Lumi lays on your arm, full of the burrito. Looking at the time in the upper left corner you still have time for one more search before you must get to class.

Opening up a new tab on your poke-watch you search up the term “heart swap”, in an article there is a picture of a Manaphy with a pink glowing antennae. The ends of Manaphy's antennae glow pink and each produces a pink energy from them. The two energy balls find a Pokémon or human, and when both energies touch the opponent, their souls are switched. After a while, the effects fade, the longest known swap lasted for 3 days. A person who was allegedly swapped with their Garchomp stated, that they were able to understand other pokemon speaking during and after the swap. Feeling a little nice, you decide to help the white hair girl next to you. You stretch one of your arms to the side, and with the other, you casually move your paper to the right. Obviously the thought of not spilling our Italian sauce all over the ground when talking to a girl will take priority for most anons, and myself, my main concern is about the ultra balls.

Was it ever specified exactly how much money we had in our pockets? If we ever get into a battle with a particularly strong wild pokemon, an ultra ball would do well with delaying the beast whilst we escape. Then again, we could just buy the ultra balls, which is why i question our monetary situation and how exactly we go about acquiring money.

LitTransference: The transferring of knowledge from one being to another through a psychic link. Typically initiated by a third party. In essence, if the user wants to impose knowledge of something into another being quickly they may perform a “LitTransference” to allow them to gain this knowledge. Though the act of linking two minds together is simple, many things can go wrong during the process. For the process to work initially the two must be thinking of the same thing of what is being transferred. If one of the minds were to wander off, the knowledge may be lost completely. If there is a third party in play that originally linked the two minds together, messes up during the process or loses focus the two minds could be negatively effected such as:

>Thinking same thoughts at same time
>Unable to think
>Loss of Knowledge being transferred
>Brain Dead
>Death

Though even with these negative effects in place some are still willing to attempt the transfer. If they are going through a 3rd party, the minds being linked may sign a waiver so that the 3rd party is not liable for any mishaps. There are those who have tried to allow their Pokemon to learn a human language, or what some consider the “pokemon language”. Though this process is much more difficult for all parties involved and is more risky due to the very low success rate. LitTransference was illegalized in the Reborn Region two years ago due to an accident involving one of the Elite 4 members.

“How would you like to learn a new language Lumi?” you ask. The Umbreon looks at you and tilts her head. She then places a paw on your cheek and nods her head in understanding. You go back into the previous 4chan thread of /PokeHuntersGeneral/ and look for any updates regarding the Manaphy, but the thread has devolved into shitposts and memes regarding some anon failing to catch a Scyther using an Magmar. The last seen location supposedly was still near a river by UpperNorthPeak Street. Looking at the clock on your poke-watch you can see that the current time is 11:00 am and there is still some time before you have to go to the gym.

You pet Lumi’s back once more and nudge her awake, “Can you show me what moves you know? We’ve never battled together before,” you say. Lumi ears perk up as she moves quickly off you. She opens her mouth amassing a ball of dark energy before firing it off into the air. The ball of dark energy dissipates after it travels a short distance.

Lumi then lowers her tail and a green field of “energy?” Surrounds her.

Looking into the same direction that she previously tossed a Shadow ball a small multicolored ball of light travels slowly a short distance before dissipating.

Lumi looks at you for a moment here pupil changes to the color pink, before reverting to its normal color. You feel more relaxed around Lumi.

Finally, you see a streak of white light appear from Lumi’s body as she runs towards you, hitting your abdomen knocking the air out of your stomach. Thankfully you can catch your breath quickly.

Outside of these attacks, you know that if commanded the Pokemon will do other basic “attack actions” such as:

“Good Job Lumi, we can work on more moves later if you like. I need to be getting to the gym,” you say as you pet her. “Umbreon,” Lumi says as she is recalled into the luxury ball. As you head to the gym you send Chad a message.”

Seeing that Chad is currently unavailable you send a message towards your dad. Opening up your previous chat log with him, you see that the photo of him and Mia has been deleted.

As you head into you the gymnasium you see that there are 9 chairs on the floor in the middle of the room. Students are filing quickly into the bleachers of the gymnasium. You can see Roxie with a group of girls holding guitar cases, you can also see Sebastian just now entering the entrance of the gym.

You shake your head and decide to not sit next to Roxie. You just met her and she looks like she is with some of her friends right now. It's best to avoid an awkward conversation. Variety and randomness helps alleviate some of the writers block many QM's suffer from, and it lifts the burden of "Why did you give us such a bad situation" into "fucking dice gods".
