>In the grim darkness of the forty-second millennium, the Imperium of Man is shattered, the world of Cadia is lost, and across a thousand worlds the Forces of Chaos scourge and slaughter in the name of the Ruinous Powers. Untold trillions of mortals have sworn their souls to Chaos in the hope of freedom or spite of rebellion, they are the Lost and the Damned, and before the Traitors of the godlike Astartes they are nothing. You were once a Space Marine of the Emperor, a transhuman warrior geneforged to purge the foes of humanity but long ago you found newer, worthier masters and turned Traitor. Now the lies of duty are forgotten and you do battle to test your strength, earn their favour, and simply because you can.

You stand on the sands of a distant, arid planetoid hurtling around a pale white sun. There is no glory to be found here and precious little plunder, but it is an isolated waste, no Imperial response shall come, and once your warband has decimated what petty resistance there is the chattel shall be at your mercy. Smoke pours from the barrel of your bolter and gore clogs your chainsword. In front of you is a small mountain of rent flesh and broken bone. The "warriors" of this township weren't worthy of the title but staring at the mutilated dead reminds you of the distant past. You were a part of something greater once.

>Which Legion claimed you before the Long War began and you went your seperate ways?
>The Black Legion- The infamous Sons of Horus, they are waging the Thirteenth Black Crusade even now and in time you might return to lend them your strength.

>The World Eaters- Frenzied berserkers sworn to Khorne because there could be no other, you live solely to reach your next slaughter.
>The Thousand Sons- Sorcerers to the last, tragically misled into the thrall of Tzeentch, they are scattered in a thousand directions and like you, each furthers their own schemes.
>The Death Guard- Ruined wretches in the pits of despair, they have found inner peace in Nurgle's embrace and you want only to spread his love.
>The Emperor's Children- The scions of Slaanesh who've realized that sensation is the only reason to exist, you freely indulge in the heresies of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
>Another, rarer but still respectable Legion, (Write-In)
>No Legion at all, but a member of a younger, newer warband that doesn't remember the Heresy, (Write-In)
>No Legion at all, but a single member of a Chapter turned Traitor, utterly alone in damnation, (Write-In)

>Veteran of the Long War: -20 to Combat checks
>Son of Lorgar: -20 to Conversion checks

You are a gene-son of Lorgar, Herald of the Dark Gods, and you seek nothing more than to see their unholy names magnified, again and again until the whole of reality sings the blackest of hymns. During the Horus Heresy, when the Primarch realized the Primordial Truth, you were among the first to witness the Eightfold Path and swear your mind, body, and soul to Chaos, that your flesh and bone might serve as a vessel for the Primordial Annihilator. During the Horus Heresy, while the Word Bearers fought the Loyalists tooth and nail, you were at the forefront of battlefield after battlefield, slaying those fools who would rather spit in the Ruinous Powers’ eye than worship as They ordained with a rapturous zeal exceptional even among your kin. When the final battle began, you set foot on Holy Terra, marched on the gates of the Imperial Palace, and were it not for Lorgar’s command to flee, when the pathetic Warmaster failed his unholy task, you would have fought until your dying breath. Ten millennia later, spurning martyrdom in the Dark Gods’ name, even at the command of your gene-father is among your only regrets, one you shall atone for in blood and steel.

After the ultimate defeat, when Monarchia burned and the Long War began, you continued to fight. Alongside your battle brothers, you slaughtered in the praise of Chaos for countless centuries without question, but when Lorgar left in ascension and the Dark Council claimed to speak with authority in his place, you began to doubt. Finally, when Cadia was shattered and the Materium torn asunder, you realized that the End Times were nigh and rebuked Erebus and Kor Phaeron to strike out and earn the favour of the Dark Gods on your own times. It has been some time since and you have amassed a furious warband to your banner. It may be no more than a fraction as powerful as the Word Bearers at their height, but in time the merest mention of its name shall strike fear into the hearts of Loyalists everywhere, and you shall be the greatest of its Champions.

we have 84 prestige.

We may have also broken from the word bearers, which is a big taboo amongst their kind.
>>
>>4064100
No problem, I'll be counting bonuses/penalties whether or not they're in the roll.

>>4064108
>we have 84 prestige.
I'm taking the sum total, you have 201 which is enough for a massive but not enormous warband.
>We may have also broken from the word bearers, which is a big taboo amongst their kind.
You have and that has worsened relations with your former battle brothers considerably.
>>
>>4064108
That s good.
New warbands always happen, for chaos factions it s everytime a maybe for relations with other chaos factions. They might despise us or they might like the fact that we are from their legion. They have a lot of infighting with different doctrines and preachers, new warbands can easily happen.

And this should be fine for us as well.
>>4064118

>>4064118
A question on mechanics, Is it a roll over or under system? Because vet of the long war seems to grant a minus modifier.

>You did
Well, uhhh. With lord Aurelian returned to lead us, listening to the bickering fools of Erebus and Kor phaeron is nothing but holding back our divine duty!

>>4064125
Not really mate. The word bearers are renown as the only legion who is still a legion in the 41st millenium. They act as a singular organisation as during the heresy and they hate people who break ranks for their own personal glory as we seem to have done, coming down hard on them. That being said, given everything going on we probably don't merit an active hunt for our progenitor glands
>>
>>4064125
Word Bearers breaking off into their own warbands isn't unheard of, but extremely rare and dishonorable to them. They aren't actively hunting you down but it would take enormous need or potential gain to get them to cooperate, and if you come across them they are far more likely to initiate hostilities than not.

You are Ur-Shadorath, well-named the Resplendent for the silver and gold filigree woven into your armour, to better exalt the Dark Prince and mock the vain servants of the False Emperor. Though you fought alongside Lorgar in the Horus Heresy and won victories on a thousand battlefields, your glory went unrecognized among the Word Bearers and you were denied the honor of serving in The Anointed. Nonetheless, seniority yields its boons and tales of untold atrocities precede you, such that a strong host has seen fit to rally to your banner. They are The Burning Gospel, each zealous in praise of Chaos, they are those who chafed beneath the strictures of the Word Bearers and broke alongside you, sufficiently fanatical outsiders seeking glory in the service of an ancient, and the frothing multitudes that have gathered beneath your feet.

>You have 201 Glory to spend on the following units: You can specify which Chaos God they worship, otherwise they’ll follow your creed of Chaos Undivided. Each Chaos God has their strengths and weaknesses but servants of Chaos Undivided are more loyal and can serve as a buffer between units fighting for mutually hostile Ruinous Powers. Daemons aren't listed here because they are rarely a static force in the materium, but can be readily summoned if their requirements are met.

>Lost and the Damned:
>Cultists- Fodder useful only for dying in droves to their betters, their sole redeeming traits are their numbers, zealotry, and willingness to obey any and all commands without question. They are trivial to amass for a former Word Bearer and would best be bought to fill out your militant ranks with reliable, if inferior rabble. (1 point for 100 units)
>Mutants- Those who’ve been touched by the Dark Gods or pollution runoff are more than willing to fight for Chaos against their former oppressors. They are little different from Cultists, save that their blessings have left them suited to doing battle. (2 points for 100 units)
>Traitor Guard- Almost acceptable fighters, like you, they once served the Corpse Emperor and abandoned him in service of the Dark Gods. Former soldiers of the Imperial Guard, they are well-equipped and fight with a discipline and skill uncommon among the servants of Chaos. They are adequate infantry. (5 points for 100 units)
>Traitor Elite- Near the apex of what a mere mortal is capable of in service of the Ruinous Powers, these are the hardened warrior fanatics of a dozen worlds, each blessed in the Dark Gods and hell-bent on ascension, death in battle, or if the Dark Gods will it, Chaos Spawndom. Each is worth many of their lessers in battle, but a mere man can only do so much. (10 points for 100 units)

>(cont.)
>>
>>4064225
>Twisted Abominations:
>Chaos Spawn- Those who are touched by the Chaos Gods and reflect the true nature of the Immaterium, each is a unique expression of their power, bent and twisted into new, wondrous forms and filled with neverending bloodlust that makes them excellent bolter fodder, even if they can be tedious to gather after a battle is done. (10 points for 50 units)
>Chaos Ogryn- The hulking descendants of those incarcerated on prison worlds eons ago, though they are dim-witted and almost incapable of understanding orders, they fight with monstrous strength, insane resilience, and an unquestioning faith in the superiority of their masters and the Chaos Gods that only the most foolish can boast. Sadly, they are difficult to field in numbers. (10 points for 20 units)
>Chaos Dreadnought- Former warriors of Chaos that have been mutilated on the battlefield but not yet martyred, they are Astartes and continue to serve, interred in earthshakingly powerful warmachines. Even you admit it’s rare for a Chaos Marine to retain the entirety of their sanity, but whether their mind has broken under the strain or they lacked coherence to begin with, inside each marching tomb is a gibbering madman you can hardly do more than point at the enemy. (20 points for 1 Dreadnought)

>Traitor Marines:
>Traitor Neophytes- The servants of the Corpse Emperor mere decades ago, it took the sundering of the galaxy for them to see the Primordial Truth and they have taken to it with zeal, if a lack of venerability or experience. You have a hard time giving them any respect so you do not bother, but an Astartes is an Astartes and they willing to fight. (1 point per Neophyte)
>Traitor Marines- Those who fought in the Horus Heresy, some alongside you and the mighty Lorgar and others in theatres far afield for their own, inferior Primarchs, if they’ve survived the Long War up to this point they are fearsome warriors indeed. You feel a kinship to them, however slight, and they you in turn, though you would be a fool to assume most wouldn’t stab you in the back to take your place without a second thought. (2 points per Marine)
>Traitor Specialist- Worshiping each of the Ruinous Powers in full has its benefits, and while none of these ancients may serve Chaos Undivided, so long as their individual idiosyncrasies are satisfied, every one is willing to fight for your cause. These are Khornate Berserkers, Tzeentchian Sorcerers, Nurglite Plague Marines, and Slaaneshi Noise Marines. They would serve well leading forces of the same deity, though this isn’t necessary. (5 points per Specialist, 15 if they are Champion-tier, specify type)

>(cont.)
>>
>>4064227
>Traitor Champions- The Astartes equivalent to the mortal elite, each is if not your martial equal, damned close, capable of cutting down scores of fodder without flinching, and thoroughly, tangibly blessed by the Dark Gods. For all of their prowess, they see themselves as your equal and demand a great deal of plunder, refuse to follow orders they feel are beneath them, and are much likelier to challenge you for your place. If you willing to tolerate insubordination in exchange for results, they are worth that much and more. (10 points per Champion)
>>
>>4064225
Hmmm Well first, I think we should focus on elite units. So lets start from the top and work down.

>2 traitor champions, Explicitly not charismatic so that we may play them against eachother. If they squabble then they will always be vying for our favour. -20
>1 Traitor specialist [sorcerer], for some magical umph, they also only require dealing with one quirky personality. -5
>50 Traitor marines, undivided and 40 can serve as our men directly. 5 per champion as personal units to use as they see best.

>400 Traitor elite, -40
>400 Traitor guard -20
>1600 cultists -16
>>
>>4064275
With this set up, 2400 mortal's, 1600 of which can be used to make and carry out rituals without problem.
800 of our forces are actually competent and if spread out can serve as trainiers and sergents.

1 competent traitor guardsman leading 4 cultists in a fire team, probably work out well.
Possibly swap that out for 1 elite leading 4 cultists in squads and using the guardsmen as all rounders to plug the gaps.
Naturally not all cultists should be used in battle [or if using them as cannon fodder shouldn't be assigned a champion tier man to lead them] so any spare elites can join up with the guard or form their own squads.

Our astartes however should probably be used as intended, shock troops that identify problem areas and are launched into them for troubleshooting, like decapitating the head of a hive govenoer. Sending our champions will earn them much glory and so long as we are in power, naming one a successor, the politics will ensure these undivided fools remain in conflict with one another.

Another thought isn't to give the champions any set battle brothers, rather allow them to work with however many they need at a given time, but they will choose favorites anyway and that just lets them have free movement for them to speak to other brothers and sway their loyalties.
>>
>>4064227
Rank and file are disposable but Marines are rare and we should get as many as we can.

>4 Traitor Champions, (-40)(161)
>60 Traitor Marines (-120)(61)
>40 Traitor Neophytes (-40)(21)
>1 Chaos Dreadnought (-20)(1)
>100 units of Cultists (-1)(0)
>>
>>4064466
What is the reasoning for 4 champions?
>>
>>4064472
Each Champion is a wrecking ball worth a dozen loyalists that will multiply the effectiveness of our troops. If we're smart about it they'll be too busy infighting to gain traction with our men. I'm not set on it, I just think a former Word Bearer needs an inner council.
>>
>>4064479
If we want a council, I suggest the specialists. Much more loyal.
>>
>>4064482
They're cheaper too. Hmm. How do you feel about this?
>2 Sorcerers to scheme around themselves
>1 Noise Marine for artillery support
>1 Berzerker to keep the aforementioned in line
Then scattering some Khorne and Slaaneshi in our ranks to work as shock troops and supplement our core.
>>
>>4064515
I feel like that is good enough composition. We do need to keep the noise and beserker out of eachothers way [or at least try].

That being said, We should drop the Dreadnought, because frankly they cost too much for something that can be better accomplished by an equivilent number of neophytes and the neophytes are a more flexible bunch of warriors.
As for alignments, being a wordbearer and the fact that undivided is more loyal, I feel like unless we have to, the bulk of our forces should be Undivided.

Really our two suggestions come down to planet scale ass raping vs surgical strike operations akin to loyalist marines.
>>
>>4064531
The Dreadnought isn't tactically flexible but it would be an invaluable asset during boarding/bunker cracking operations. If you want to switch it out with more neophytes that's fine but a couple of Champions to keep the council balanced could be better. I was thinking 15% Khorne 15% Slaanesh 70% Chaos Undivided
>>
>>4064573
Sending a dreadnought on a boarding operation is like sending a bazuka to clear out apartments.

The thing is too big to move around most ships easily and the damage they do is more against the ships themselves than not. I think we should also discuss what manner of operations we wish to conduct.

Raiding citys and ships is not going to require the same level of forces as conversion and holding of territories. Given this is a oneshot however, I doubt we need to consider the long term.
>>
>>4064582
Since we're zealots we should be trying to proselytise as much as possible. My goal is to have Iron Warrior tier swarms of cultists swamping our enemies and a Dreadnought would be good fire support. I mostly meant counter boarding but you're right it is serious overkill. Plague Marines could be a good substitute but feels like a horrible idea unless we want most of our fodder to be zombies. I think 2 Champions are ideal to tilt the council's balance toward Chaos Undivided and lead our fuckload of marines.
>>
>>4064589
Right, lets Hammer out some goals for the warband.

We want 2 champions of undivided to pit against eachother and lead our armies.

We want 2 sorcs, 1 noise marine, 1 beserker, sorry nurgle buddy, to keep everything going with our council. May I suggest having the noise marine be a master/specialist of void combat for our ships? That should appeal to his perfectionism.

Lotsa marines.

And I want to set the benchmark at about 600-1000 mortals, 100 elite, 500 to 900 cultists so they can do their crap while still being effective as both summoners, cannon fodder and swarms of flesh to throw at a problem.

Can we agree with these peramiters and work around them?
>>
I forgot to mention that 1 unit is the equivalent of 10 men. Even lone marines are extremely dangerous but unlike masses of fodder, they can't hold a trench or clear a (large) city overnight. If a decision isn't reached in two hours I'll leave it to Tzeentch and roll.
>>
>>4064612
Oh shit.

That makes this >>4064275
4000 elite
4000 guard
16,000 cultists. Fucking wow
>>
>>4064626
Remember, you're operating on an interplanetary planetary scale.
>>
>>4064225
Alright, lets try to compromise.

>2 champions, as outlined above being uncharismatic. -20
>6 specialists [2 sorcerers, 1 noise marines maybe space spec, 1 beserker] -30

>10 marines -20
>80 neophates -60
9 men squads is go.

>400 Traitor elite units
>2100 cultists.
4000 + 21,000 men total.

This is a decently powerful sized warband, with about a codex compliant chapter of space marine chapter supported by lots of men.
>>
>>4064603
Agreed on the champions, council, and Noise Marine void master. The Khornate should be our master of boarding missions and ground assaults. I want as many Marines as possible for us to get, we can scrape by on 100 cultists until we enslave the locals.
>>
>>4064658
I disagree on the sizes of mortals contingent.
1000 cultists is not a suitable size for interplanetary operations. Not to mention piloting our ships, which requires 5 thousand roughly by lore counts.

Then there is the ritual chattle, the guarding of trenches and so on. For this reason, I am adament that out numbers shouldn't dip below 600 units at the very least. because 5000 cultists is the minimum I believe is required for our operations to go smoothly to get a couple of daemons here.
1000 elites are also good form for training the cultists up/using as daemon hosts.

I am willing to move on numbers here >>4064657 but 100 units of elite and 500 of cultists are my minimum.
>>
>>4064612
Holy fuck that's enormous.

>>4064657
Considering >>4064612 and our bonus to conversion I think we can drop the cultists and dump the rest of the points into elites because hardasses are difficult to get. Cultist on the other hand are the easiest unit to recruit and the more elites we have the quicker we can train them to guard standard.

>2 Champions of Chaos Undivided (-20)
>4 Specialists (1 Berzerker, 1 Noise Marine, 2 Sorcerers) (-20)
>10 Traitor Marines (-20)
>80 Traitor Neophytes (-80)
>6,000 Traitor Elite (-60)
>1,000 Cultists (-1)
>>
>>4064676
You forget that Cultists are also to be used for ritual sacrafices/presiding over rituals/herded over minefields.

Numbers are their thing, so I say 5,000 traitor elites, then 11,000 cultists is our best bet.

Other than that, the lineup is perfect.
>>
>>4064686
We are a Word Bearer, I guess it would be faggy if we didn't have a horde of cultists to throw at lasguns. Alright.

>2 Champions of Chaos Undivided (-20)
>4 Specialists (1 Berzerker, 1 Noise Marine, 2 Sorcerers) (-20)
>10 Traitor Marines (-20)
>80 Traitor Neophytes (-80)
>5,000 Traitor Elite (-50)
>11,000 Cultists (-11)

I'm concerned that our marines are inexperienced but the elites should bridge the gap.
>>
>>4064700
With one elite man leading them in the proper ways, and marines being fucking devastating even by themselves, we will be fine mostly.

We have 10 squads of 9 astartes, plus 7 command staff that can be attatched leaving us 3 marines short of a chapter.

Alright, Supporting this list.
>>
>>4064708
Then it's settled. I think "Through the Fire and Flames" should be our war cry and we go heavy on flamers.
>>
>>4064727
Flamers....ehh.
I don't really have an objection to it barring the short range.
Sniper fire to cover the front line troops, with the beserkers/elites having hand flamers as well?

You recall the emergence of The Burning Gospel, unflinching in fanaticism, unrelenting in wrath, and resplendent in glory with a rare smile as a rabble of cultists set to plundering the dead. They’ll make an excellent pyre later, or perhaps, would they better serve mounted on stakes as an example? Indecision rarely grips you and when it does, you can delegate. To date, no less than six warbands have been broken, stripped of their names, and folded into your horde and you do not doubt for an instant that in time more shall come. In the beginning you were a mere dozen, the Champions Urkastur and Mortemus whose ambitions your own narrowly outstrips along with ten lesser but no less fierce veterans of the Long War who saw the truth in your seditious whispers. The breakaway went seamlessly, hijacking a Dauntless-class Cruiser and exiting a system into the Warp when the bulk of the Legion’s fleet stopped to bring the Primordial Truth to a heavily fortified Shrine World.

Wandering for years, you lost their pursuit and heard tell of a schism in a minor Chapter, with near half of its number driven to heresy by the malign influence of the Warp following a partial Gellar Field failure. They were aimless, worthless scum who barely knew the names of the Ruinous Powers they sought to venerate. You wrenched the head of their “warlord” whose frame bore not a single blessing from his shoulders, then claimed right of conquest to rule over his corpse. You were fifty then, with another Cruiser sadly no stronger. Still, it was the beginnings of a warband and you continued your personal crusade with furious zeal.

It wasn’t long before you heard that a Black Legion offshoot was active in a nearby sector. You were disgusted to learn that they weren’t even the gene-sons of Horus Lupercal, but weaklings of Gulliman freshly forsaken when the Inquisition discovered their Chapter Master sought knowledge of the Warp and its mysteries. Months later, you tracked them to an isolated moon and a third of your number lay dead in exchange for half and their fool leader’s head. Sixty swore to you and not one hesitated when you announced a march against the fringes of the Segmentum Ultima. There was pitched warfare then, and many citizens of the Imperium died but hardly one of your marines and it wasn’t long before your ceaseless proselytizing bore fruit, bringing a regiment of the Imperial Guard to throw their commissars’ heads at your feet and beg that they be allowed to fight for the Primordial Truth.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4064992
You welcomed them into the fold and continued your warpath, scouring, if not fully annihilating eighteen worlds before word came to you that a significant detachment of the Imperial Fists readied to end your despoiling. Deciding that discretion was the better part of valour, you fled, seeding cults that would flare and harass no less than three sectors for generations to come. During the campaign your force of traitor guardsman was decimated, but those who remained were the worthiest of the Dark Gods’ gifts and boasted their favour with the sight of their very flesh. Eventually, and not without a fair proportion of frenzied skirmishes, you eluded the Loyalist retaliation into the Segmentum Obscurus, where you came across a petty yet bloodthirsty mob of Khornate neophytes, drawn together solely by their youth and reverence for the Lord of Hate. Battle was inevitable and you joined in with wild abandon, eventually felling their warlord; earning a new scar and the submission of the survivors who witnessed your fury, along with his second, a ferocious berserker with half a brain (not a figure of speech) by the name of Ghoul’khar.

A mere six months later you came upon a shameful coalition of Slaaneshi and Chaos Undivided on a slow descent into hedonism, who sought to pursue rumours of warriors fighting for Khorne and earn the Dark Prince’s favour with their demise. Your promise of delights to those in the least opulent vessel of their pathetic fleet proved a wise decision, as they turned on their allies in the midst of your battle in a masterstroke. Later you learned they were captained by Farrax, a noise marine with delusions of grandeur and a noteworthy talent for ship-to-ship combat.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4064995
Two years of pitched raiding of the tattered Imperial trade routes later, you were visited in your dreams by two separate sorcerers of Tzeentch who claimed to be ruling a petty two squads of eager, directionless traitors from nameless Chapters manipulated into their service. Svorulak told you that he received portents of great change in the years to come, and that only through service of you could he reach grand heights. Davmon claimed that the despair your deeds spread in their wake could only be countered through the hope of a true devotee of the Changer of Ways, thus he must seek to serve at your side. Each sought to tell you that the other was a treacherous and foulmouthed deceiver best killed on sight, unaware that you dreamt of both, and not seeing any reason to decide on a single sorcerer when two could be brought to bend the knee, when your forces made contact you appointed them as your personal advisors of “That which is beyond sight” and “That which is beyond the veil” respectively. Since then they’ve been undermining each other and spreading rumours among the less strongly aligned of the marines, who oscillate between opinions of the pair too rapidly to shift one way or another. Between their foolishness, Urkastur and Mortemus constantly trying to one-up each other in displays of glory, Ghoul’khar not caring who leads so long as he is thrown into a steady amount of battlefields, Farrax too busy fine-tuning his “magnum opus” that sounds like industrial noise spliced with bolter fire and static to a broken violin’s tune, and the Council providing them an illusion that they have a say in how the warband is run, your position as leader is secure.

For now. You are always certain to maintain a healthy degree of paranoia, but thoughts of treachery can wait for the next voyage. At the moment The Burning Gospel is busy scouring the surface of an arid frontier world in the southeasternmost section of the Segmentum Obscurus and you need to determine how the conquest of its few settled regions should be done. While you are lost in thought, the pile of corpses tumbles as a mortal sprints to stab you in the chest with a knife-! only to be stopped when a random cultist dives in front of your power armoured chest plate, taking a mortal wound and shouting praise. A leisurely instant later the assailant’s head is a red mist and you return to your contemplation, ignoring the howling of Khornates letting loose over the dunes.

>How do you want to bring the world of Uccethea II into compliance?
>Bombard the planet’s largest mountain from orbit, then broadcast vox of the footage to the Planetary Governor and demand immediate submission, lest you do the same to his spire in the only major city on the planet, a proto-hive near the northern pole.
>Spread your forces far and wide, sweeping through every relevant settlement they can find with an ultimatum, forsake the False Emperor, worship the Ruinous Powers, and surrender to The Burning Gospel or be slaughtered. Most won’t accept but that’s of no consequence, their resistance is nothing, and you’ll make ample use of the few who do.
>Deploy the entirety of The Burning Gospel’s forces to the proto-hive city and launch an invasion, from spire to spire downward, until every last manufactorum and corpse shrine has been stripped clean and desecrated. It isn’t the most efficient method of conquest and there’s a chance you’ll take a handful of casualties, but it’ll give the marines an opportunity to unwind after so many weeks in transit.
>Surround the proto-hive city and begin the first phase of a protracted siege, because corpse starch and mold farming can only get several millions crammed into the space of a moderately sized mountain so far. Once they’re good, hungry, and have had a few weeks to slaughter each other you’ll start broadcasting propaganda and promising food to those who abandon the Imperium.

I love the smell of Chaos in the morning. My last post for a while until I can wake up again.

>Surround the protohive to starve out the hive city, all the better to soften up the populace for our message. Send some of the cultist's most prolific apostles to infiltrate the proto-hive and begin their messages. Put Urkastur in charge of keeping the hive supressed.

Meanwhile scan the surface for settlements, then give Mortemus the task of converting the largest to the worship of the ruinious powers, or wiping them off the face of the planet and using it's inhabitants as slaves if they refuse. Grant him 3 squads to make it work. After all, we all "Know" about his superior silver tongue, which is why we gave him the seemingly less glamourious task.

Lastly, get our seers making some calculations on how many re-enforcments the world may get, where their comms network is so we can disable it and lastly, how many daemons we can summon once everything gets jiggy.
Lets avoid as much collateral damage as possible, this shall be a glorious shrine world to the powers.

Our ship should be used when needed for destroy anything that could be a problem to our forces on the ground (fortifications or overwhelming zealous enemy forces ecc..), at the same time it can also be used as a show of strength (and will no doubts bring fear to the population, even by simply seeing it in the sky above ).
By the way there are other planets in the system of Uccethea ?
>>
>>4065023
>>4065196
And where we put Ur-Shadaroth, his bonuses are pretty good. I think we can put it near the proto-hive, perhaps doing sermons (with powerful speakers) that can be hear by all nearby. If imperial forces try to break the siege, he would be there for help/command in the fight.

///

Great shepherd or Supreme minister could be a decent title, or just chaos lord.

Prophet of the Flame of Chaos, Obscure Messiah, Chaos God-King or even Chaos God-Emperor for even more hate from the loyalists and a mixed reaction from traitor forces .

Or maybe using a corrupt title of the ecclesiarchy ? or something already used by the wordbearers like dark apostle.
>>
>>4065790
We are not a dark apostle, just like you wouldn't be an apothecary just for learning how to sew a cut shut.

That being said, We should remain on the ship until the hive is properly surrounded and co-ordinate from the bridge. Once the seige is under way, then we can start our attempts to convesion.
>>
>>4065793
As an addendum, I propose our title is "Exalted Preacher of the burning gospel" or shorten to "preacher"
>>
>>4065793

i have write some titles and dark apostle sounded like an option. If it isn t there are the others titles i have put there.
Well once we have surround the city, i think we can go for it. Since it further breaks the morale of the defenders. What about having our ship visible to the defenders ?
I will go for the Prophet title
>>
>>4065795
>>4065804
How about Exalted Hierophant?
>>
>>4065882
Exalted Hierophant sounds good enough.

>>4065804
Having our ship visible would likely mean having it enter atomosphere, which due to gravity [which only seems to apply to space ships rather than titans] we would be dragged to the planet and crash.
But once the city is surrounded and weakening, if we weave into our speech the power and truth of chaos, emphasising the point with the decimation of the governors hive spire, then that can serve a powerful motivator, especially if the hive plebs have never seen orbital bombardment and can't recognise it as anything other than the fiery wrath of the primordial truth.
>>
>>4065882

It s cool. i will change from Prophet title to Exalted Hierophant.
>>4065889

I can agree with that. Too bad for the spaceship, but even the orbital bombardment alone should be a powerful message.
If there are mutants in the underground parts of the hive, we could use those as well.

After some time has pass during the siege (preferably when they have reach a point of no return) maybe we could order our sorcerers to influence the minds of the weak, and tell them to open the city to us.
>>
>>4065915
I feel like using magic to mindcontrol people is sending the wrong message. Sure it can be a backup, but we are already sending in cultists ahead of our invasion to stir up trouble and whip up cults.
By the time we ourselves start broadcasting, we should have a healthy amount of grass roots cults there to begin an insurrection.

Everything the city does is of it's own free will, be that resistance or serving the great powers.
>>
>>4065889
The Purge sends their ships into the atmosphere all the time. I don't think we need to but it probably isn't impossible.

>>4065915
Mind control is risky for our psykers and beside the PDF and any arbites these humans aren't a threat. I think it would be easier to break through the walls with marines.
>>
>>4065932
Depends on the ship in question really, but anything largerer than 2 km is usually subject to gravity tearing you to the ground Of course, writers are wont to do as they wish and ignore any lore they care too, like making a space marine hurl a fucking tyranid Bio tank over 50 meters.

You determine to a cohesive strategy fairly swiftly, and issue commands accordingly to your subordinates without wasting a moment more. The bulk of The Burning Gospel’s forces are to commence a siege of the planet’s capital overseen by Urkastur as the foremost demagogues of the cultists infiltrate the proto-hive and begin to undermine the False Emperor’s faith. Svorulak and Davmon are tasked with scrying where Uccethea II’s interplanetary comms are located, how likely reinforcements are to arrive and if so, how significant, and the number of daemons they should be able to summon once the wrath of the Ruinous Powers is in full-swing. While they’re preoccupied, Mortemus shall take twenty-seven marines of his choice to convert the largest settlement on the surface as he sees fit, or should his “silver tongue” fail, exterminate them.
To prevent Ghoul’khar and Karrax from feuding, you’ve given them the task of honoring the Dark Gods with a competition of sorts, gathering the fifteen marines who share their faith, riding into opposite directions, and bringing back as many prisoners as possible in three Terran months. Whichever manages more will receive the honor of being first into the breach when the assault of the proto-hive begins. Meanwhile, you’ll be preaching the manifold glory of the Eightfold Path to whip the fodder into a frenzy and practice oratory for when the conversion begins. So you swear, by the Word of Lorgar or the chainsword, the masses shall bare witness to the Primordial Annihilator! None have any objections to your plan, or if they do, are wise enough to remain silent.

>All that remains is to execute it. If you aren't personally doing something, roll Bo1.

>Roll 1d100 for Urkastur’s siege to break the proto-hive city’s will to continue.
>Roll 1d100 for the cultist infiltrators to subvert the proto-hive city without issue.
>Roll 1d100 for Mortemus to convert the settlement of slightly over 100,000 mortals.
>Roll 2d100 for Svorulak and Davmon to ascertain the information you’ve requested.
>Roll 2d100 for Ghoul’khar and Karrax to gain honor for Khorne and Slaanesh and prisoners for the Burning Gospel.

To an ancient warrior of Chaos who has seen ten millennia pass, the three months seem to pass in moments, to minimal fanfare. The twofold attack on the proto-hive’s faith in the God Emperor, from the siege without and the corruption within proves devastating, and what encrypted vox your servants manage to transmit outside the walls verifies your suspicions. There are hundreds of cultists ready to slaughter in the name of the Dark Gods and many more faithless gangers prepared to fight if that is necessary to avoid starvation. Even the beatings of the enforcers do nothing to sway the population’s discontent, and worse, the lethal suppression of a riot enflames the Anti-Imperial sentiment. Soon it is festering, reports of cannibalism grow by the day, and despair of imminent death grips the unwashed masses. They are vulnerable to the Primordial Truth.

You are pleasantly surprised to see Mortemus return with twenty-seven marines intact… and four-thousand four hundred cultists in tow, each gripping a sharpened blade or primitive stubber-rifle. Allegedly they were reluctant at his initial sermons, but a public demonstration of the strength of the Ruinous Powers against their noblemen, priests, and pitiful PDF detachment did much to sway them. Only a third of the new converts followed, the remainder have stayed to erect fortifications and sacrifice their former kin within the desecrated cathedral.

Svorulak and Davmon remain sequestered in shrouded tent chambers, meditating on the mysteries of the Immaterium in concert with what you have commanded. The former finds some success after countless weeks of determined focus while the latter howls in wordless madness as the Forces of Change come upon him. Next you see Davmon, he boasts a writhing tentacle where his left eye once was, though when it turs and blinks, you see that his left eye remains in place, if not in socket. Svorulak is sure to openly express his jealousy that he wasn’t chosen, though you suspect the treacherous sorcerer might be speaking in sarcasm, he is careful to utter only the utmost tact when he explains his findings to you. There are anywhere from two to three small regiments of Imperial Guard in the nearest five systems, which may or may not be entrenching themselves in preparation of your coming or mobilizing to purge the heresy of The Burning Gospel. Their only method of interplanetary communication, a lesser astropath, is situated in the planetary governor’s spire and Svorulak has done what he can to corrupt their outgoing messages to downplay the significance of the warband’s numbers. Lastly, given that there are roughly forty million humans on this planet, if they are optimally prepared and offered to the Chaos Gods, he wagers that anywhere from two-to-three thousand lesser daemons could be summoned.

You are thanking him for his wisdom when a staccato of autogun fire interrupts his response and prompts a scowl. Mildly annoyed, you leave him to see that Ghoul’khar has returned with nine-thousand shackled prisoners and over a third as many militant cultists whose zeal to shout to the heavens outpaces their desire to preserve ammunition. If nothing else, they’ll be useful fodder for the invasion and you congratulate him on his success. Four days later, Karrax returns with a mere four hundred prisoners and when asked where the rest went, sheepishly admits he got carried away and forgot about the competition. As he fidgets with an aux cord wired into the side of his skull, you shrug and suppose you shouldn’t have expected much more from a Slaaneshi.

The resolve of the proto-hive is wavering, if it was any there to begin with. You need to determine The Burning Gospel’s next course of action, though whether it is to launch an assault or begin voxcasting propaganda is up to you. Urkastur and Davmon are of the opinion the proto-hive should be subverted longer, Mortemus and Svorulak say the warband’s efforts should be focused on corrupting those outside though these aren’t mutually exclusive, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Ghoul’khar supports an assault as soon as possible while Karrax feels it makes no difference. Ultimately, the final decision is yours.

>What do you want to do?

>Continue the corruption of the proto-hive, lending your effort as the warband scatters to sweep the planet and conscript as many civilians as possible.
>Trust the cultists already there to continue their efforts while Urkastur maintains the siege and everyone else proceeds to amass lasfodder.
>Begin an assault immediately, following into the breach fifteen minutes after Ghoul’khar and his motley rabble have made a dent in the paltry defenses.
>Orbitally bombard the largest mountain on the planet and inform the planetary governor his life will be spared if he surrenders without a fight though he might wish he was dead later.

We need to remove that astropath.

Have our corrupt cult slink into the governors spire, if they are not already there and kidnap them. convert/torture do whatever we must to get them on our side and do not allow them to get a message out. From here we can use them as a way to send out false messages of "defeating the heretics."

Meanwhile have our sorcerers prepare some of the cultists, A "few" possessed units will do wonders for us.

Next we should allow the corruption to reach fever pitch, giving us time to sink our claws into the local pdf and finish off the problems of there being.....well, "Other people left alive outside the city"
Prisoners and converts preffered but ultimately the death of all opposition is the important part. In those towns and places already under our sway, begin construction of churches and catherdrals or conversions. I want those mortals revering the primordial truth and able to recant 20 hymns by heart with more zealous piety than a dark aspotle stat.
Not to mention, such works, if placed in certain locations will make summoning daemons easier. Ritual sorcery is the legions strength, even if it isn't widespread amongst the ranks
>>
>>4066270
Additional thoughts, is if we corrupted the governors bodyguards.

Then widely broadcast the demand that the governor surrender and when he refuses, have our men shoot him in the legs and beat him on live airways, signalling the uprising.

You decide that the preparations of the proto-hive are not yet complete. The Ruinous Powers must be satisfied, and though the ecstasy of slaughter would appease them, they would not be as pleased as if the multitudes bowed in zealous adulation. Another command is given, each of your Inner Council are to take a squad of chosen Astartes to the furthest corners of this world, and return with ample fodder for the invasion. If they refuse to worship and must be press-ganged, that is sufficient and in time all shall come to serve, whether in sacrifice or furious rapture.

The remainder of your forces will maintain the siege while you take Urkastur’s position in command. In the coming months you’ll be taking a more active role in the blockade, voxcasting sermons on every channel open and encrypted, such that you cannot be silenced. Again, none take umbrage with your suggestions and leave immediately, each reveling in the sacred duty they have been given. Before the sorcerers leave, you ask if any of the cultists can be prepared for possession so far, to which they reply without the sacrifice of thousands the Immaterium is not close enough.

You concede that it may be more prudent to wait until the assault itself is underway and turn your focus to the question of the loyalist astropath. The cultists within receive the command to remove them, by any means available, and despite the difficulty they swear that they will see it done or die in the attempt. Preparations are to be made elsewhere outside of proto-hive, you decree that the construction of temples in settlements where the Sign of Chaos is raised shall commence immediately whilst the elite of the Traitor Guard make themselves useful and whip the cultists into fighting condition. They take to this without question and already, progress is being made. Some get the hang of swinging the lash quite quickly, and to be honest you’re quite impressed.

Responding to this:

I feel for you man, I really do. I have to juggle study and bad shit happening as well, and I'm a quest dropper like you, like most -- if not all -- QM's on this board.
You make this sort of commitment to people you don't even know, and yet you get attached to the stupid shit you write, and the people that reply to it. Is it the instant gratification of knowing someone reads your work and responds? Is it the fact that it's an easy way to talk with people who share your same interests? Or is it just fun to write stories? I don't know, but what I do know is that people here don't mind someone getting burnt out, lazy, or real-life in their way, because at the end of the day it's not about the fact that you dropped the thing, it's more about the fact that you wrote it in the first place, that is what people remember.
I was happy that people remember my 'Apocalypse Raider Quest' that I dropped abruptly months ago, one that I had been thinking about re-continuing for so long, but I wasn't too surprised: the anons on this board remember the things they liked, the things they took part in. Anons remember your quests because they were good, not because they ended.
So in conclusion: don't beat yourself up about it anon, you're just like the rest of us faggots

It may sound dumb, but desu i can t say anything against you. Your quests where all a good time for me, and i m happy you have return.
I had fun in the christian cult one with us trying to balance our objectives and our following, in the Eldritch God of Bliss one i was the autist that create those write-in demons (which i have still some that i didn't post, that i will post now for you to see).
And the feudal world "New Emperor", i didn t have the time to fully partecipate but it looked very cool.

///

here their descriptions :
new demons

Gar Ahan (- 20 Bliss)

A fusion between a human rotten corpse, an adult bear, a mussel and a great snake.

Gar Ahan will be able to go through strict passages and move in tiny spaces, is muscles are many making him incredibly strong. Is mix of scales, shell and fur give him a good protection against cold and the mortal weaponry, and he moves well in water. Is neck and head are enlarged and given additional protection, and he is able to eat a whole man with a single strike.

Is claws like is many fangs are able not only to transfer in is foes a large quantity of poison but give them lucid dreams and nightmares of bliss. At command Das Ahan is able to exhale a waft of diseases that can cover a whole small village. He use is four long and powerful tails like whips or for crush mortals in deadly hugs.

Thanks to is tongue he is able to sense the mortals that serve the idols, albeit not perfectly.

///

Upgrade for Qamara (-10 bliss)

She will become more alluring, charismatic, intelligent and seductive. She will learn to mitigate (when is appropriate), her aspect and traits for better mix with mortals and avoid zealots or the priesthood of the idols.
She will also be able to fight if needed like is brethren (from now on she as like them an inhuman strength, speed and agility with the difference she can hide it when needed), giving her the power of creating a great sword from her own flesh and blood (or from any near willing mortals), creating an armor out of her hair and from her other hand summon at will a small breeze of seduction and bliss for influence mortals.

I know exactly you're talking about and can't pin it on any one of those, because in some ways, it's every one simultaneously. I'll confess that Apocalypse Raider Quest was and is one of my all time favourites, I've posted in every thread to date. I might be overdramatic about this, but you guys really do mean a lot to me, not just because this is about the only faggots out there I can run a quest without worrying about what any moderators have to say about it, just as it is, and have them participate or not to any extent as they please, and that's a beautiful thing, but also, faggy as it is to say, because >>>/qst/ isn't that big a place, and in some ways we're one of the last "real" communities on the site.

>>4067656
I'm glad you enjoyed my quests as much as I did writing them, from here on out I'm going to stop dropping them and if for some reason I do, I won't be leaving you hanging. I love reading write-ins in general, especially ones I never in a thousand years would've thought of, and that's metal as fuck. I was inspired to start this quest after reading the 40k Cultist quest and stumbling back on https://1d4chan.org/wiki/What_it%27s_like hitting the random page button on 1d4chan to try and get a bit of that early 2000s nostalgia. The ordinary men following Chaos and succeeding through sheer tenacity are more interesting to me than Chaos Marines, but don't get me wrong, they're cool as fuck too. I'm not just a Chaosfag either, I know it's something of a stereotype for fa/tg/uys and autists in general but I really do enjoy 40k and its numerous factions as a whole. Orks are an extremely close second favourite to Chaos, followed closely by the Imperial Guard, and then it's a tie between everything after, even the T'au are neat in some ways, though I'd rather they focused on other minor Xenos species too. The omnipotent, multiversal Chaoswank annoys me to no end, and I've always headcanon'd that it's propaganda on their end.

WHEW fuck, looks like Ur-Shadorath is more favoured by Tzeentch than the Sorcerers in his warband! Normally a 7 would be a Nurgle crit, but this is on a roll to determine a Tzeentchian gift which, by the looks of it, is quite significant. Either the Chaos Gods are puppeting you for esoteric reasons, think you're champion material in the making, or both.

It means a lot to hear you say that, I have a lot of respect for you as a QM for reviving someone else's dead quest, and then running it for over twenty threads and counting. I have no interest in fuck quest, but to see that finally end after countless threads, over years of posting amazes me. >>4067796
Neither do I, but I'm impressed every time I see it in the catalog. There's a chance of both, possibly simultaneously. You have to keep in mind that with any given quest, there's an audience that's been keeping it from sliding off the board since the start. Out of curiosity, are you also a 40kfag or just settling for semi-active threads on a slow board?

>56, The twisted multitude hear your Word and in time, doubt may ferments into furious rebellion.
>21, The cultists rally and storm the planetary governor’s spire, taking grievous casualties and fail to execute the astropath, though the illusion of the Imperium’s invincibility is shattered.
>48, The traitor elite manage to beat eight thousand of the rabble into militia marginally more fit for clogging tank treads.
>78, 49 Urkastur’s methodical approach proves inefficient, while Mortemus’ convert or die yields satisfactory, if insufficient results.
>7, 4 Ghoul’khar’s spin on Mortemus’ strategy was taken more seriously, while Karrax’s convert for eternal pleasure proved even more popular.
>40, 45 Svorulak and Davmon’s schemes gained much fodder, though the latter’s horizontal complexity proved slightly outdone by the former’s layers upon layers.
>!4! Thousands of tormented sacrifices in a span of weeks from a planet that was completely loyalist months ago have pleased the Ruinous Powers, and they have given unto you no less than four wondrous gifts, to say nothing of the mutants in the cultist ranks.

At your command, six squads of nine marines for a total of fifty-four disperse across the planet, under the command of six more. Whether they are aspirants or true champions matters nothing, each member of the Council is there because they are an unflinching devotee of the Dark Gods, avatar of war incarnate, and harbinger of damnation whose mere presence brings the minds of the “faithful” to doubt. Any one could render this worthless rock a charnel house with a tenth what The Burning Gospel can bring to bear and you know firsthand that you, Urkastur, and Mortemus have done far more with far less beneath the dictate of the Word Bearers. Every man, woman, and child on Uccethea II is doomed, they just don’t know it yet.

Your commands are followed with furious zeal but you do not waste time contemplating what they do, choosing instead to focus on what you must. Each moment of every day, you howl prayers to the Chaos Gods over a thousand and counting vox channels, no frequency is safe from your fervor, and you know that within the walls of the proto-hive no less than millions are forced to listen to every syllable of your hymns to the Primordial Annihilator. Most choose to go without, destroying voxcasters wherever they can be found, but for every ten to reject you outright, your Word strikes a chord with one and they hold theirs in secret, listening with baited breath as they consider. A tenth of these see the wisdom of rejecting the False Emperor and take on the worship, finding cultist cells, founding their own, or remain in solitude, preparing for the impending wrath of the Ruinous Powers.

>>
>>4069432
In countless alleyways and sewers that could’ve have metastasized into an underhive in four centuries or less, the disappearances of the last few months triple in frequency and when those missing are found, the mutilation of the flesh in devotion to the Dark Gods is such that only the strongest of loyalist stomachs can hold their contents and not without effort. The desperation of the planetary governor grows daily and the draconian martial law implemented months ago proves to be too little too late. So deeply does the sacred message resonate with what the infiltrators have done and are doing, the warband could leave in its entirety and this planet would still be facing a pitched insurrection in no more than a decade. However, you are not leaving, you intend to stay until the gargantuan structure before you is in ashes or a cathedral dedicated to the Fourfold Powers in all their splendour, and each moment you remain preaching on the digital pulpit is an impetus for a hundred souls to swear themselves to damnation. For a Son of Lorgar, this is almost as exhilarating as the sights and sounds of the battlefields every Astartes was gene-forged to fight, and no less fulfilling.

You do not allow those beyond the crumbling proto-hive’s walls to remain idle in zeal, your fiery voice demands that they give themselves and all that they are unto their worship, and they do without question, howling rapturous joy and incandescent hate as their former friends and family are ritually disemboweled and burned in pyres atop a hundred desecrated altars. Alone, the masses may have worshiped and committed a thousand atrocities in Chaos’ name, but under your Word, they spiraled into a downward frenzy to rival a fairweather Dark Apostle. Such rapidity in absolution of zeal is rare even for Chaos outside of the Immaterium, and when the outpour of rhapsodic madness reaches its crescendo, the fractured stars align, and you demand that those which lie beyond the veil give unto you the strength to see their will be done as your clenched fist tears the still-beating heart from a false priest’s chest, your prayer is heard, considered, and answered in full.

Were the sorcerers present, they would claim the Warp shuddered as a shadow crossed over it, and non-psychic though you are, even you can feel the presences permeating the atmosphere. Under the passing glimpse of not one, but four of the Ruinous Powers, you do not kneel in supplication but raise your bloodstained hands and shout in praise, for you are the Exalted Hierophant of Chaos, no cultist thrall to bow and scrape! A moment goes by as their gaze intensifies and you are made to feel smaller than an insect under your boot, but you do not relent, and in a second more, the weight releases, replaced with a sense of vague satisfaction surrounding your soul and a manic anticipation for what is to come and be done in their Dark Names.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4069437
For an instant, it feels as if the composite energies of your soul were slowly torn in twain but you stand firm and soon realize that it is not being ripped asunder, but added onto, by the tips of a thousand lesser threads woven into your legendary tapestry yet to be written! Curiosity seizes and focusing your subconscious, each are pulled with all the strength of will your psyche can yield and all around, the veil is slashed apart as a mighty host comes forth! Not one less nor more than a single thousand, you tower above what look to be a swarm of deformed gargoyles wrought of prismatic flesh, each barely larger than the average man, their contorted faces dominated by expressions of desperate terror and utter submission at your sight. A former Word Bearer immersed in daemonic lore, you recognize them immediately: Furies, the souls of the damned twisted into wretched monsters and denied eternity at the side of the Dark Gods for their disloyalty.

They are cannon fodder scarcely better than cultists, the lowest of daemon-kind save the multitude of minor malignancies with no name, and you stare at them in scorn, then recoil in reverent awe as you see they are divided into four groups of two-hundred and fifty, each bearing signs of recent service to a different Ruinous Power! You instinctively realize that, as pathetic as they may be they are beneath you, and thus are bound to your service. They collapse, bowing at your feet with the worthless lack of pride that you refused to display to your patrons, and you raise your chainsword and bellow, triumphant in vindication, for now none can deny that you have been chosen!

At a whim, the nearest Fury rises and skulks to your knees, shuddering- only to screech as its skull is severed in a furious blow! You feel there nine-hundred and ninety-nine threads now, no, the thousand remain, though one has faded into a wispy strand you see it regaining consistency by the moment. You deduce that it shall be fit to return to your service in roughly a month’s time, far less if a multitude of sacrifices are made or anarchic war is waged. Greatly pleased, you release your hold on all save four of the strands and watch the remainder fade back into the Immaterium. Those which remain are of the Four Gods, and tasked to follow you in a subdued hysteria, chittering and babbling the obvious truths about your grandeur any subordinate above a cultist is hesitant to mention. You think this to be the most magnificent blessing of Chaos Undivided you have ever seen and for a moment, your tireless ambition is content, but then as the presences of three Ruinous Powers cease to linger, the largest and fiercest remains, not yet satisfied with what it sees.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4069440
Not pausing for a moment, an infinitesimal extension of Khorne’s everlasting malice thunders into your entirety and leaves an instant later, through the same arms you had raised to what was only hours ago an uncaring cosmos. You scream in rage beyond description, tearing a nearby cultist limb from limb in a sudden frenzy as, for the briefest of instants, you become one with war. Once the emotion fades, you scowl in loathing then grin with teeth no less polished than your pauldrons. An echo of the presence remains imprinted onto your existence, conferring an instinctive awareness of how best to slaughter your foes in the Crimson Tyrant’s Name that outmatches even an original traitor’s millennia of combative experience. This, too is a gift you shall make use of in the coming days, but what’s more, you notice that the ceramite shielding over your wrists has been cracked and shattered by the force of what left you moments ago, and where the vambraces once laid, now over a dozen spikes of gnarled and sharpened bone menace every soul in sight.

Already, your mind races with the possibilities and you shout your praise, personally overseeing the slaughter of eighty-eight prisoners and twelve more thrown to the craven and spiteful whelps at your feet. Not a trace of the Blood God remains and you lament your gifts to be over, though you are more grateful than almost any neophyte who has seen mere decades of heresy without recognition can comprehend, and you are grateful to be wrong as visions of writhing flame scouring a lump of stone into a hundred warping statues afflicts you in your sleep. Not much is remembered of your soul’s visitation, only snatches of formlessness, the pervasion of a vain, deceitful hope that refuses to die, and burned into the deepest facet of your very memory, a name and a sigil to be etched into the center of a summoning circle. In an unprecedented recognition of your ambition, Rhairaik’Skazkaith, Nightchaser and Lord of Change awaits to be summoned, that he might serve Chaos in the materium and see your petty ambitions fulfilled. This perhaps, is far and away the most powerful of gifts you’ve received, though that it is the least reliable goes without mention.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4069442
When the Council returns over the course of the next three months with raving throngs thousands-strong in tow, they are deeply impressed by your boons. Most notably, Ghoul’khar views you with a newfound respect while Svorulak and Davmon often glance with inscrutable expressions on their faces. Frustratingly, the cultist’s attempt to slay the astropath was a failure, though the planetary governor suffered a wound during their head-on assault, much of his family and retainers have been rendered casualties, and his spire, long-thought impregnable by the masses has been revealed to be vulnerable to those with vast numbers, primitive weapons, and the will to use both without relenting. Supposedly, the backwater equivalent of an Arbites precinct has gone into lockdown and those who approach its gates without a warrant are shot on sight. So you swear by the Dark Gods, The Burning Gospel rises and can be extinguished by no mortal on this material plane!

>Your forces are stronger than ever and the capital is teetering off the precipice of collapse, the Council is almost unanimous in support of a Khornate deep strike on the planetary governor’s spire while the remainder breach the walls in force, but the final choice of what is to be done remains yours to determine.

ForgottenQM is extremely based. I'm sorry that I derailed your thread with my shit, but hearing you and anons talk about it was the straw that finally broke the camel's back. It's been bottled up for a while. My writing isn't that great, just run-on sentences interspersed with adverbs and hackneyed metaphors, I have a lot of respect for QMs that can say more with less. What's more important is not dropping a quest once you've started, otherwise there's next to no point in its posting it to begin with. I'll be lurking your thread, that's for sure.

The cultists weren't able to infiltrate the staff of a planetary governor's hive spire in only six months, but the creed of Chaos Undivided is spreading like wildfire throughout the capitol and many of the PDF and administratum, among others, a handful in crucial positions, have succumbed to the temptations of the Ruinous Powers. Interrogation is always possible and a task Slaaneshi have a particular talent for, but whether it generates noteworthy information is anyone's guess.

>>4069794
You can send the Slaaneshi Marines to deep strike the planetary governor's spire, but it's the second most heavily defended position on the planet, the first being the law enforcer's precinct, and when the invasion commences some of the heaviest fighting will be there. Of course, this is a sparsely populated backwater and heaviest is relative, but there's always a chance of high-ranking nobility having something genuinely dangerous squared away. If you chose to deploy the Slaaneshi and have the Khornates spearhead the assault, unless you phrased it very well, there's a good chance Ghoul'khar would be angered (at you specifically, instead of everything and everyone around him) though your standing in the Warband is too high for him to attempt a mutiny. Or is it? Paranoia is part and parcel of leading a host of Chaos Marines, and if there's a single thing you miss about the Word Bearers Legion, it's the relative reliability of their hierarchy.

On the other hand, Karrax would be pleased at the chance to plunder the innermost sections of the spire your rabid cultists missed. Sending them both would cause the risk of infighting to skyrocket for marginal gains in force projected per spire room. You could always suggest that the Khornates deep strike onto the sections of the proto-hive above the law enforcers precinct and rip and tear their way down until they stumble upon it or drown in loyalist corpses, but then they wouldn't be supporting the frontal assault. Then again, against armed citizens, panicked PDF, and loyalist gangers, the difference between a Chaos Marine of Khorne and Chaos Undivided are slim. A handful of neophytes would be enough to put a massive dent into the PDF before they ran out of ammunition, and only one could lead an insurgency with devastating efficiency. Astartes aren't living gods of war and be overwhelmed by sufficient numbers, firepower, or rarely dumb luck, albeit at grievous losses, but between centuries of combat experience, the blessings of Chaos, and the deadliest wargear they can plunder, some come extremely close.

How do you want to orchestrate the deep strike, if at all? Keep in mind, you can always go yourself at no loss of reputation, though you'd need to decide who would lead The Burning Gospel until you fought your way back to the gates.

Holy shit, its you!! I thought you actually died, Nice too see that isnt the case

>>4070363
Ah, you do raise a valid point good sir.
However, the deep strike to my knowledge was to plunge down into the governors spire and thusly they would be rather removed from the first head into the fray, which was promised to the khornates.

But let us leave that thought there for but a moment and consider.
We promised the Khornates the honour of first in and at the vanguard.
We also know khornates are not the most delicate or controlled of fighters.
I am also assuming we have drop pods.

My solution is thus. We send forth the hoards of cultists in what will probably be a costly attack at one of the gates we hold the most control over. Once the cultists can funnel in and begin their slaughtering, the other operations go in properly and the hoards suppress the arbites precinct all under the direction of Urkastur's capacity for seigecraft.

Once we have determined the trouble spots and eliminated the anti-air, Drop pod our beserkers into the precinct with support of 2 squads of men. total of 15 + 18 men to 34 marines running rampant inside [2 vets, 16 neophates, 15 aligned, 1 commander]. I doubt the presinct will hold properly and thus die.

Send Mortemus with two further squads along the newly opened point of entry into the city controlled by our cultists and have them move along the walls to pacify them and lead the cultists to hold the positions.

Once the hive spire is the last thing remaining, we send the beserkers in at the bottom to fight the bloodyist path up [assuming they are even still cognizant of our orders at this point] while some more unaligned deploy near the top and secure the desired people/disable it's defenses and allow for extraction.

The slanneshi will as "punishment" for their earlier failings be spent as a trouble shooting unit hunting down scum and flanking strong points of the imperials, possibly using the noise weapon against stone to destroy entrenchments.

The slanneshi's enjoy battle and the hunt for their senses. They won't mind.
Khornates have a different mind and would see it as punishment for failure. Both sides happy.

As a minor thing, get our sorcerers to try and intercept the astropathic messages being sent and "corrupt them" somehow. False information is ideal, simply incomprehensible is fine.
>>
>>4070363

Ur-Shadaroth, Mortemus, Karrax and Svorulak will lead the assault on the walls and ultimately the one on all the city.

Ghoul’khar, Urkastur and Davmon will lead the deep strike force on the spire.

Ghoul’khar will do exactly what he expects to do lead and fight the imperial soldiers.
Urkastur and Davmon will support in this fight the khornates covering them where they are the most vulnerable.... and avoid that most of the valuable things are destroyed.

The objective is to break the loyalists, kill that astropath, take over any of the defenses control from here and capture the governor for is public sacrifice to the gods. If many nobles can survive it would be excellent. Especially if their families extend around in this sector and not only in this planet.

Now on this matter tell Ghoul’khar that he needs to go for the fighters. If any weakling has weapons take it from their hands and scream to them to stay sit or die . If he wants to actually try to do even the other objectives (other than killing/maim fighters) make it clear that if he wants to go for that we want the exact results we have ask for. Nothing less.

Ghoul’khar will be insert first by drop pod in the arbites precint, and followed by cultists they will go for the spire. His group should attract much imperial attention, so he should be satisfy of so many soldiers coming to kill them for stop their path.

Urkastur and Davmon will get in the spire for take what we want and extract it from the bloodbath of the khornates.

The khornates get to attack first, fight much of the soldiers and to take the spire. They didn t ask for prisoners or the governor head so they should be fine

Hey tube fucking amazing to see you again finding out you where behind no only christian cultist quest but the new emperor thing as well 2 of the best recent quests iv ever read is surprising love that your getting back into things and i understand why you dropped out before

it happens to all of us i have like 6 quest ideas 1 of which has been shiting around my folders for over a year and im probably never going to do so your already doing way more then most of us ever have or will so dont feel too bad
>>
>>4070377
I'm glad I've finally fessed up to my dropfaggotry, it was eating me up inside and feels good to get that weight off of my chest. Now that I've come out about it, I can revisit some of the quests I dropped and be more transparent with you anons.

>>4071473
Even if almost every QM ends up dropping a quest at some point, leaving dozens of anons hanging without a word, only to start another quest a week later and do it all over again is a fucked up thing to do. It felt wrong but now that I've come clean, I'm going to try to move on, get over my bad habit of dropping quests, and QM an actual series instead of the one-hit threads of the past. We'll see it how it goes, but once I do it, if I can do it which I'm going to do my damnedest to, urges to start a different concept aside, I'll know that everyone else could.

>>>/qst/ is a community like any other, and without people following up on their posts, quest participants might as well be shouting into the wind, and I hate that I was a part of shit. I was dragging the board even more than the Civspamming faggot, because I stuck around long enough for anons to hope that it'd be different before I bailed, and every thread was always different enough from the last that there was room for doubt, and then hope it'd become an actual, decent thread that I'd ultimately shit on. I just want to be a more dedicated QM, that's a lot of what this is, now that I've posted this, I know you anons will *know,* and even if I want to back out now the odds are that'll keep me coming back.

There's no reason not to start a quest on a concept you enjoy contemplating, as long as you don't emulate me and let what could've been a promising thread die in its cradle. Hell, this quest started as a one quarter-serious, three quarters-shit post the back of my head intended to do the same with, but now it'll be a semi-casual proof of concept. I'll see whether or not I can get this to five threads or until the protag dies/ascends/mutates beyond recognition, etc. ends, and then I'll at least know that I could, and from there, doing what I can becomes that much easier. The most important part of QMing is work ethic, and that's where too many, myself included, fall short. This is all grandiose bullshit, but I mean what I'm saying, and so help you gaggle of faggots that are some of the closest shit I have to a consistent group of friends, I'm going to hold myself to it.

>>4069935
Chaos is as Chaos does.

>>4070398
The Khornates don't necessarily want to be the through the wall and into massed loyalists, though they wouldn't mind the chance, they want to be where the fighting is thickest and the chance of glory, death, or glory in death is highest. After hearing about the cultist's failure to eliminate the astropath, a Chaos neophyte mentioned to Ghoul'khar he wished he could deep strike into the planetary governor's spire, and mulling over the idea, Ghoul'khar turned around and demanded it to the inner council. They agreed because there was no reason to risk his ire not to, but no-one is particularly set in stone on the strategy. Offering the enforcer's precinct as an alternative is nigh-certain to be met with fierce acceptance. The cultists inside aren't as numerous as the loyalists but they're a significant chunk of the population and will be fighting with all the tenacity madness can bring once Ur-Shadaroth says go.

>>4070515
This is a perfectly good plan too, if you're comfortable with the slight risk of infighting from Ghoul'khar against Urkastur and Davmon, or less likely, vice versa but barring extremely high morale or loyalty to the warband, there's a chance of that happening every time forces following different Chaos Gods, or even from Legions or more recent, Renegades fight alongside each other. It's just the largest when two groups worship opposing Ruinous Powers. A public sacrifice of the planetary governor would go far to break the proto-hive and earn slight favour from the Dark Gods. Of course, a Chaos Champion has to do more to earn their blessings than a random cultist, because the Dark Gods know he's capable of more and expect more, but there are always exceptions to the rule. For example, Ur-Shadaroth receiving four blessings for, as far as the Long War's concerned, amounts to a hill of beans but in more ways than one, appeasing the interests of a Ruinous Power is just as important as, if not more so than desecrating the Imperium in their Name, even if they overlap to almost exact extent.

Corrupting and slaying Loyalist Marines in particular is a surefire method of earning their attention in a hurry but is extremely risky, because they can fight and if the battle-plan goes wrong, your subordinates betray you/fail to fight hard enough, or the Angels of the False Emperor have a stroke of luck, easily kill you on even-footing. Then again, the opposite is true and while they usually have superior numbers and equipment, they don't have daemonic assistance or the tactical versatility the worship of Chaos Undivided affords. Generally, the more difficult a task is, the greater the chance of a reward from the Dark Gods will be. Disappointing or angering them is also a possibility if you retreat, lean too heavily into a single Chaos God, or somehow fail them, and you can get "gifts" that send you spiraling that much closer to Chaos Spawndom.
>>
>>4071636
>*what amounts to a hill of beans
>>
If you anons don't agree on a specific plan by the end of the day, I'll merge them together or, if they're different enough, roll to see which you go with so I can update.

>>4071643
Right, we need a synthesis plan.

first, lets get the prep work done.

>Week of lastly converting preaching, sway the final few who are on the fence.

>Order the cultists inside that before the attack start to capture key positions in the city and take over parts of the wall / the barracks / artillery positions/ stores of munitions/ medical fields.

>When the assault starts some cultists will create fortified blocks in the streets, for deny the imperials place to retreat and secure the captured parts of the city.

>In the nights before the assault, they shall take anyone of the foe that is in small groups or alone.

>At night (or when not see) disseminate in the city the symbols of chaos, and desecrate the imperial ones be it a poster or a statue.
After this is done take the rest of the city and assault the spire.

>Ghoul'khar will deep strike into the arbites precinct. Urkastur and Davmon strike down onto the governor's spire with their forces, we want the astropath, nobles and the governor for future use. Governor is a prioity take alive, astropath as well.

>Use the rest of the forces to finish off the rest of the city/support the other two assaults.

There, I think this is the best plan I can make that blends all of our contributions.
>>
>>4071643

I will go for support is vote instead of mine.

While keeping this objectives which i think are not problem or are in the same interests :
"The objective is to break the loyalists, kill that astropath, take over any of the defenses control from here and capture the governor for is public sacrifice to the gods. If many nobles can survive it would be excellent. Especially if their families extend around in this sector and not only in this planet."

>>4070515

Change my vote to

Support this one

>>4070398

//

i recon the unmention leaders will be mostly on attack to the wall.

And we could give this orders as well :

"- Order the cultists inside that when the attack start, to capture key positions in the city and take over parts of the wall / the barracks / artillery positions/ stores of munitions/ medical fields.

-When the assault starts some cultists will create fortified blocks in the streets, for deny the imperials place to retreat and secure the captured parts of the city.

- In the nights before the assault, they shall take anyone of the foe that is in small groups or alone.

-At night (or when not see) disseminate in the city the symbols of chaos, and desecrate the imperial ones be it a poster or a statue."

Praying to the Changer of Ways, a cunning stratagem comes to mind. Gathering the Council, you dismiss the suggested plan and propose an alternative certain to appease the berserker. Though Ghoul’khar’s enthusiasm is furious, he’s aflush with murderous wrath at the mention the wait will be one week longer but is willing to concede to your authority and stay his chainaxe. Karrax makes a show of distaste for the punishment of reaving and flanking the loyalists instead of assaulting them head-on, but seems more than content with the proposed task. Urkastur and Davmon are honored at the chance to capture the planetary governor, while Mortemus and Svorulak feel the combined forces of The Burning Gospel are more than sufficient to breach the proto-hive’s walls.

>With no more to discuss, you begin relaying encrypted orders to the cultist infiltrators and proselytising at the top of your lungs. Praise Chaos!

For the next week, you howl the glories of the Fourfold Ruinous Powers, decry the Corpse God on his Gilded Throne, and bid the faithful within the proto-hive’s walls to desecrate his idols and defile the objects of his faith wherever they can be found. In a handful of sermons out of dozens, you preach a code no less worshipful, but all too informative for one knowledgeable enough to piece together the discordant syllables. Their orders are given and after over six Terran months of waiting, the cultists cast off the False Emperor’s yoke in furious rebellion.

Across the proto-hive, numberless hordes of fanatics clutching pipes, knives, and the rare cutdown stubber wash over the loyalist’s fortifications in a wave of heresy. Thousands are drug from their hab units to be sacrificed in the streets, the blood of both sides flows freely that the Crimson Tyrant might be appeased for the briefest of moments, and the sacred peace of the Imperium’s law, long-held inviolable, is shattered. Heedless of gunfire, the frothing masses tear those PDF who haven’t stripped away their aquila and joined them to pieces, and for a night, it seems as though the planetary governor’s authority is irrevocably broken and the proto-hive lost.

However, the bulk of the PDF have not yet succumbed to heresy most foul and when they’ve recovered from the sheer tenacity of the onslaught, they begin to push back, executing rabid zealots across no less than a hundred slum blocks and manufactorum facilities. On the verge of victory, the loyalists think themselves to have won a victory over the traitors in their midst but to their imminent woe, they failed to realize a grave strategic error. It was nothing more than a distraction.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4073595
Outnumbered three-to-one by their loyalist counterparts, the traitor militia of the PDF are nonetheless ferociously coordinated and with the backing of dozens of raving throngs in the grip of lunacy, they strike one of the proto-hive’s five gate with all the wrathful precision of a sledgehammer. When the loyalists truly understand the depth of their error, they fight with the desperation of a cornered dog but beset by all sides, they are overrun in the span of mere hours. The rabble of The Burning Gosepl have no time to celebrate, the long-idle gate’s mechanism is wrenched open, and the cultists turn their backs to frantically defend the same positions they fought to seize mere minutes ago against a panicked loyalist counteroffensive. Left alone, their eventual defeat would be sealed but beyond the citadel, tens of thousands of ragged boots and armoured wheels spin at the behest of their Dark Masters, and to the soul-shredding dirge of Slaanesh, the true invasion begins.

>-7 vs 15 Shouting praise to Khorne, the militant cultists fight the loyalist PDF to their dying breaths, pushing back wave after wave, and while most are killed, enough hold on that the gate stays open long enough for the offensive to succeed.

Behind you stands a horde of thousands, every man a newly won fanatic or hardened combatant of a dozen campaigns, both willing to kill and be killed in the name of Chaos, that the Dark Gods might be magnified and glory won for The Burning Gospel. Flanking you are two dozen Astartes, most recent traitors who’ve cast off their bonds in worship of the Ruinous Powers, some in pleasure alone, one so fiercely the weaponized guitar in his grip can barely soothe the neverending thirst for sensation. At your side are a handful of Furies, worthless damned seeking solely to earn your favour that you might stay your malice, and channel their eternal frustrations in making wiser men suffer. None of them matter. Jangling a dozen golden chains with the slightest motion of a pauldron, you rev the chainsword in your hand and gaze forward.

Across fifty-thousand paces of hardpacked sand and battered rockcrete highway lies the capitol of Uccethea II, a sprawling mass of urbanity stretching to scrape this world’s thin sky. It is a center of commerce and trade, a near-miracle of human engineering, and home to tens of millions. It is damned and as a handful of shooting stars crash from the atmosphere into the tallest spire and the center of its habitation units, a rare smile comes to the scarred face beneath your silver helmet. The invasion has begun. Already, your Lyman’s Ear can perceive the staccato of autogun fire, and a wild grin parts your jaw as the chosen gate, tiny in the distance, rises!

They’ve done it! Almost as if you are outside of your flesh and watching the beginning of a battle take place, the chainsword is raised above your head and roaring thunder flows from above your gorget, shouting as you take the first step. “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!” A thousands-strong chorus of voices echoes your word as you break into a frenzied sprint “SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!” Noticing that you’ve begun the advance, the forces entrusted to Mortemus and Svorulak begin to charge, the former lost to an incandescent thirst that can only be quenched in blood, the latter crackling with lightning of forbidden sorceries as he raises his staff. Karrax’s three five-marine squads abandon their ranks, charging with wild abandon you can’t fault them for, as the aspiring champion of Slaanesh restrains his flesh-flaying chords to mere, resonant hymns of an obscenity most loyalists can’t comprehend. Some of the overeager zealots fire their autoguns into the air, wasting ammunition in exhilaration, and few indeed are among the ranks of the elite who’ve survived this long.

You are a terrifying avatar of hate against the bedraggled PDF gathering to force you back, many of whom to this day have only known warfare from the propaganda vids they were forced to watch and the petty drunks they’ve restrained from swaggering in the alleyways. The gate draws closer and hundreds of scattered, fragile lines of panicked men in cloth uniforms come into view. Nothing in their training could’ve prepared them for this, and as you draw closer, you tear the materium asunder to unleash a horde of furies hundreds strong, who hit the ground and sprint into their defense on four legs. The proto-hive becomes vast and the opening of the gate vaster, barred shut only by trembling conscripts whose bullets do no more to damage your power armour than the flecks of dust beneath your feet. Each ping in your ears is retaliated with a bolter round, piercing through five lines of men and throwing shrapnel into twice as many more. You see they are on the verge of routing before you reach them, and then you are a giant in their midst and they are nothing before you.

The red mist comes over your vision and you are in motion, slaughtering masses of dozens faster than they can think and shouting the same prayers to the Dark Gods that many among their number tried to deafen through silencing their voxcasters. All too late, they discover that they made a terrible mistake. Some turn to run, only to be shot in their backs. Some beg for mercy, only to go unheard and die screaming. A few stand to fight, their lives end on their feet, and the Blood God smiles on their spite. You are through the gate and the masses follow. Only four-hundred of the furies remain feasting on carcasses, but the slaughter of the citadel will see the rest soon return. Karrax and his squads sprint into the streets to let themselves loose and thousands of Slaaneshi follow. To your left, Mortemus breaks through and can only be told apart from a berserker by the colour of his uniform. He and a swarm of Khornates rush into the capitol, eyes blazing. To your right, Svorulak calmly strides into sight and at his feet are almost a third of the PDF, singing praises to Tzeentch.

You wonder if you should do more to please Nurgle, and dismiss the notion. The decay of the loyalist dogs will please him greatly, and until the thirst to spread virulent doom arises you need do no more. At the moment, you’ve begun to lose control of your forces but you’re no longer a Word Bearer and were never an Iron Warrior. Such is Chaos, and you revel in the fray! Though the battle is moving quickly, you know it shall be some time before the initial tumult calms and you resume control. You feel an all-consuming compulsion to slay loyalists in the Primordial Annihilator’s Name and such is unquestionable, but can be directed as you please.

You will try to balance your massacres with your captures, but the question of whether you'll assail the law enforcer's precinct or desecrate the largest cathedral you can find remains to be answered. As there's a tie, I'll leave it to fate and roll to determine.

You seek to glorify the Dark Gods with the gift of loyalist gore, and where could it best be attained but the site of the Khornate’s slaughter? There is no question. YES, you shall reunite with the berserker’s squads and run down the blasphemers who dare defy the Blood God behind their shielded walls! Firing the bolter into the forehead of a PDF who sought to throw down his autogun and surrender to a mob of cultists, you cry out, “HAIL THE PRIMORDIAL ANNIHILATOR!” Ten thousand shout in response or simply scream in exultation. “HAIL!” Over your armour lays splattered blood of a hundred corpse worshipers and the viscera of twice as many clogs your chainsword, but it is not enough. No, long as the False Emperor draws shuddering breath on his gilded throne, quiet prayers are whispered to his name in so much as a single alcove across a thousand stars, and the reality remains still in lawful defiance of the Immaterium instead of shattered, that the Ruinous Powers might be entertained, it will never be enough. You must do more, always more, never ceasing, never stopping- “LISTEN TO ME- WORMS BENEATH MY FEET, WRETCHES AWAITING THE SLAUGHTER, VESSELS OF MY WILL ETERNAL! YOU MUST RAISE YOUR WEAPONS, YOU MUST WAGE THE LONG WAR, AND YOU MUST NEVER RELENT! ONWARD AND EVER FORWARD, UNTO ANNIHILATION AND THE END OF DAYS YOU MUST FOLLOW THE EIGHTFOLD PATH AND READY YOURSELF TO MAKE WAR IN MY NAME! THIS IS WHAT I ASK, WHAT I DEMAND, AND WHAT I SHALL RECEIVE!” A bolter round flies through a nameless cultist too busy cutting off the hand of a corpse to heed your Word.

“LEST YOU BE DAMNED!” There is a moment of silence, then autoguns are fired into the air and a maniacal echo rings across the rockcrete and beyond the gate, into the hab units where some yet remain sheltered. “LEST WE BE DAMNED!” You march into the vague direction of where you saw Ghoul’khar’s Astartes deploy. “HAIL CHAOS! SLAUGHTER THE LOYALIST! SHATTER HIS FAITH! BRING EVERLASTING RUIN TO THIS WORLD! MAIM! KILL! BURN!” The militant fanatics in your wake take up the chant and even the traitor marines and neophytes at your side, near your equal, are brought to heights of wrath and shout, “MAIM! KILL! BURN! MAIM! KILL! BURN! MAIM! KILL BURN!” So you, your subordinates, and your fodder repeat again and again, shouting as they tear through suicidal PDF remnants and foolish, brave citizens that think to halt your advance. You are not the only warriors of Chaos to fight against the Imperium on this day and as you march, multitudes of cultists rally to your force to form a mighty horde.

>>4075666
Though the cultists offer no more than raw numbers, they are so many walls of meat a lasbolt must fly through before scorching your ceramite plate, so let them come! Soon the loyalists learn to flee at the sight of your glimmering visage but few run far, before a half-dozen furies lunge from the shadows and tear them asunder! You are in ecstasy and vaguely recall that you’ve shot perhaps a tenth of the bolter rounds your armour has stored. So be it. If need be, you’ll cast your blunted chainsword aside and tear the slaves of the Corpse God limb from limb with your own two hands! There are some serfs accustomed to the manufacture of new munitions, if adequately supplied, and for that, their lack of vigor to rush into lasfire is tolerated. You muse on what you’ve heard of Hereteks supplying warbands with fearsome technology in exchange for slaves, perhaps connecting The Burning Gospel for a daemonforge world would be a wiser decision than scavenging. You’ve heard of traitor marines reduced to improvised carapace and primitive chainguns- Imagine the shame! Though, you suppose any weapon is worthy so long as it serves the Chaos Gods with rapturous zeal. A furious bellow breaks your reverie and you turn to unload in the offending loudmouth when you spot the sight of a hulking Khornate Astartes. No, not just any, but Ghoul’khar!

You cease the march and stare, taking in the sight. He staggers with a furious limp, his armour is riddled with molten holes, and he has cast aside his helmet to reveal blackened burns on the side of his face so severe there isn’t any sign an eye was ever there and you see white bone poking through. Even so, a monstrous grin missing many teeth fills his maw, and he throws the carcass of a mortal at your feet. You glance down to perceive carapace lined with flak, though it must’ve done them little good, and the gurgle of frothing blood brings your vision back to Ghoul’khar. The berserker raises a weapon outwardly somewhat similar to a lasgun and no less tiny in his gauntlet, but with the pull of the trigger, a beam of superheated doom burns through ten and half again cultists too busy staring with shocked eyes to dive aside at the swaying of the barrel. Understanding comes. This was a…

“MHHHELTAGUN.” To say you are surprised is a profound understatement. You’ve heard of these among marines, both loyalist and traitor, and the rare elite of the elite anti-armour squad in the Imperial Guard, but… “IN A PLANETARY DEFENSE FORCE?” The berserker laughs, howling in mirth. “YHEEES! YHEES! YHESSS! THE MORTALS CAUGHT US OFF-GUARD, HUNDREDS OF THEM ARMED WITH THESE! ARC-PLASMA TOO! KRAK GRENADES WERE THE LEAST OF OUR THREATS!” Your thoughts are sent racing. “BUT HOW?” He laughs, spitting blood onto the pavement. Not all of it is his own. “THAT’S WHAT WE WANTED TO KNOW! WE FOUGHT FIERCE AND WE GOT DEEP BUT THE MURDER HOLES WERE TOO MANY AND THE MAZE TOO CONFUSING! TEN OF OURS WERE CUT DOWN FOR DOZENS OF THEIRS, DOZENS! I THOUGHT BETTER TO DIE ON THE BATTLEFIELD THAN BE SHOT IN THE BACK, SO I GRABBED ONE AND FLED, RIPPING AND TEARING THE SCUM UNTIL I HEARD YOU!” He throws the meltagun.

>Toss it to another Astartes, you don’t much care but they’ll make good use of it.

“AAHAHAHAHAHAHA! FOLLOW MHEEEE ANCIENT! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!” With that, he turns and bolts into an alleyway, running back to where he came. A few hundred zealots follow at the prospect of glory and plunder, but the remainder don’t move a muscle, waiting for you to determine their next course of action.

You caught the meltagun by its barrel without so much as a quarter-second’s hesitation, then slid into a satchel and began a leisurely march in the berserker’s path. The sprinting Astartes was already out of sight but the frenzied traitor’s footfalls were readily visible in the rockcrete and reflexively activating your helmet’s night vision, you followed them without issue. At your tacit approval another five thousand separated from the masses and charged in the rough direction of their predecessors, hell-bent on receiving a glorious death or undying glory. If these “law enforcers” are anywhere near so well-armed, you imagine any mortal that isn’t in the center of the ragged throng or directly blessed by Tzeentch is a dead man running. You don’t begrudge them this, any who survive will have proven their worth in the sight of the Dark Gods tenfold and those who fall shall be easy enough to replace. Watching them run, you almost feel a pang of jealousy.

Even the least of the heretic Astartes is a towering champion of Chaos, the legendary veteran of a thousand battles, whose merest sight brings hardened loyalists to beg their False Emperor for mercy that can never come. It is not an existence you would trade for a hundred sectors at your feet, but the truth is that, as an original legionnaire, you are already worthy, all you must do is prove yourself before the Ruinous Powers. How much worthier in the sight of the Dark Gods is a mere mortal that rises from the teeming rank and file to the vaunted heights of daemon princedom? You do not permit yourself to dwell on such questions, you are as you are, an avatar of destruction incarnate and if you must struggle to surpass the legend of arisen fodder, into the fray you shall go! In time, Lorgar shall speak your name, deem you worthy, and Erebus and Kor Phaeron shall know their folly!

>(cont.)
>>
>>4075873
Or so they shall. Such ambitions are a thousand battlefields away, and for the time being you’ll continue your march. An hour and a half of effortlessly mowing down chaff come to pass before you hear the sounds of unrelenting rage and turn a corner to see the berserker’s chainaxes rending a plasteel door asunder. It is behind a rockcrete wall that’s been powdered in a handful of places to permit outside intrusion, and only one of a handful across a colossal structure dwarfing even you. The symbol of the Corpse God’s aquila mocks you, but only so long as it takes to shoot and point your bolter. You notice there is no crater where it connected when the smoke clears, only a tremendously deep divot and thick layer of dented plasteel. You heard Ghoul’khar’s angered confession but to see it for yourself settles it; if these “law enforcers” are mundane agents of the planetary governor’s decree you fought alongside Horus yesterday! Soon enough, the entrance collapses beneath the assault and the Khornate rushes into the corridor to the sound of frantic shouting and rapid lasgun fire. No, the pitch is deeper than the sound of mundane blasts, these must be- “Hellguns.”

You turn to a nearby Astartes and furrow your brows, for he spoke the obvious as if it were profound. Neophytes! What wouldn’t you give that every Chaos marine could’ve fought in the Heresy… Their lack of experience leaves you irate, but you suppose that’s the sort of problem that can only be tempered through the fire and flames in the crucible of war. Judging from the screams of terror that only come from disciplined men routing, you estimate the berserker is doing well for the entrance, but you need to determine how you wish to handle your end of the assault.

Send a good amount of cultists in attacking the loyalist scum.

With them attacking, we will use them not only as cannon fodder but even as meat shields, since behind them a force of traitor elite and astartes will fire with deadly precision upon the enemy fortified formations killing them all while our losses will be only some cultists.

With the loyalist attacking our meat shields and then coming under the deadly fire of the traitor elite and our astartes, we will summon the furies where they are located for ensure that the imperials have no chance of survival.
>>
>>4075924
Backing. I think the furies have a good role in "air support" and in complicating their defense by opening up another front, kind of. We may need to use near all of them, since these guys are pretty well equipped (fucking hellguns and meltas), but they're expendable. We're chaos, so we can just overwhelm the corpse worshipping fucks

You’ve plundered hundreds of fortresses in your time and do not hesitate to issue your orders. “NEWLY FAITHFUL DEVOTEES OF THE BURNING GOSPEL, I BID THEE FORWARD! PROVE YOUR FAITH TO THE DARK GODS AND EARN GLORY IN DEATH OR HONOR IN TRIUMPH!” The hundreds of fodder don’t hesitate, and flood into the corridor singing hymns and sprinting over the corpses of those who died instants earlier. The traitor elite hang back, for they have earned the privilege by surviving dozens of battlefields, and when thousands are clogging the hallway so thickly the sound of lasfire is muffled, you advance personally, bolter and meltagun at the ready. The Astartes and elite know better than to test your patience and run before you, only pacing themselves to let cultist zealots ahead. In mere moments, you crush dismembered dead and watch with keen senses as a long tunnel becomes visible. On either side appear to be flat, smooth walls but the occasional slit opening only long enough to annihilate a dozen cultists unfortunate enough to stand too close dispels the notion. Ghoul’khar mentioned the fortifications were mazelike, and frustration grips you before you recall the gift of furies and your superhuman senses recognize the nigh-imperceptible outline of a concealed camera against the ceiling, which receives a bolter round. Moments later, screams of horror echo under the din of autoguns and fanatical praise, buried under your furious shout. “FOR THE DARK GODS! MAY THEY BE PRAISED!”

>48 (88) + -46 + 4 + -36 [4] + 29 + 3 + 47 vs 31 + -33 + -12 + -51 The wrath of Khorne comes over Ghoul’khar and he is filled with such fury that the walls of the maze cannot contain him. Filled with fervent zeal, the neophytes and traitor elite storm the breach before the veterans of the Long War can react. The few that survive the berserker’s fury and ambush of furies must contend with their wrath, and the handful of escapees are quietly eviscerated by cultists. All in all, the battle lasts a grand total of fifteen minutes.

You march, filled with the grim determination of a champion on the verge of apotheosis or damnation, fully expecting to pay a pound of flesh and gallon of blood for every inch you take, yet willing to risk your very soul and the lives of every one of your men for the chance to seize what secrets lie within this place. Then you hear a colossal thud, nonstop screams of “MAIM! KILL! BURN!”, the sound of wrenching plasteel, and cries of horrified despair. You pause, not sure whether to be concerned or ecstatic, when sensing the presence of the Ruinous Powers, the neophytes charge around the corridor along with the traitor elite, both screaming- “MAAAIM! KIIILL! BUUURN!”

The entire warband stops as the murder holes stop opening, any semblance of an active defense ceases, and they are left adrift as your brain struggles to process the implications of what your senses are feeding it. Fifteen more minutes of waiting pass before you sprint around the wall’s angle to see at the end of the hall, a section of the reinforced plasteel wall rated to withstand plasma grenades has simply… been torn open and flung aside. You stand dumbstruck, uncertain if you are in awe or disbelief when a loyalist crawls from behind the wreckage, begging for mercy, only to be dragged back with such swiftness as if by a telekinetic, and be slammed into the rockcrete floor, again and again until he is a pulped corpse barely held in its carapace. Ghoul’khar steps into view, his remaining bloodshot eye wider than any you’ve ever seen, and walks before you. In his hand is a different carcass, and staring into your visor with unholy intensity, he rips the skull from its shoulders, slams it into the ground with such monstrous strength only a wet stain hits the floor, and shouts- “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!”

When he shoves you to the side and sprints through the cultists, reaving and mauling with his chainaxes, you stand still and hardly react as all five of the surviving Khornate neophytes, each no less disfigured and maimed than the berserker, rush from the hole and charge to follow in his bloodstained path, howling in madness you’ve rarely heard from any outside of the World Eaters. Soon they are out of the precinct and into the streets, slaughtering cultist and loyalist alike in their frenzy. “Khorne only knows when they’ll stop.” You turn to see a similarly shocked neophyte, who continues. “There was nothing left. He… charged through the wall and then-”

You nod, stating the obvious as if it were profound. “And then.” The gathered marines nod their heads in mutual acknowledgement of what they’ve seen and stunned respect of the berserker’s strength. In the most recent of perhaps two dozen engagements over the millennia, an attack on a dug-in fortress was over as quickly as it begun. All that remains is to execute the wounded, harvest their remains of rations and plunder, and pillage the complex to see just what it was they were hiding. Since the berserker, or, berserkers had no inclination of looting the precinct, you suppose you shall in their stead and distribute what you find as you see fit. Amusingly enough, the overwhelming majority of your casualties came from Ghoul’khar himself. Khorne must smile on him indeed.

>118, 24, 91 The berserker’s rage was nigh-total, but amidst the shattered ruins a respectable quantity of weapons and carapace remain.
>53 Aside from a vault where a handful of defenders attempted to fall back, the bulk of armaments are unscathed.
>10 By the malign Will of the Dark Gods, the library remains entirely intact and archivist’s laspistol did not avail him against your power armour.

Still in a fugue state from how bizarrely easily victory came, you decree that the plunder of this complex is to commence immediately and dismiss the remaining furies. As an Astartes, you recover from shock far quicker than most, chalk it up to the Will of Khorne made manifest, and take to stripping what corpses remain of their armour and equipment. None of your followers begrudge you the first pickings of the plunder and ever-eager to supplement your equipment, you help yourself. Of course, you did little to contribute to the conflict and while you’re entitled to the vast majority, claiming too much could leave your subordinates irate.

>What, if anything else, do you want to take? (You have 40 Glory to spend on plunder, alternatively, you can take nothing and slightly improve your standing among the unhinged fanatics who worship your name.)
>Lasgun & Laspistol (1 per weapon)- These are inarguably beneath your notice and you’ve gone so long without claiming one for a reason, but perhaps you fill the need to slay the loyalist scum with as little firepower as possible. You might as well grab an autogun.
>Hellgun (10 per weapon)- An implement of annihilation that would be massive in the hands of a mere mortal, it is somewhat smaller than comfortable in your gauntlets. Nonetheless, its firepower is immense, capable of piercing even an Astarte’s shielding and rapid enough to stop a throng of cultists in their tracks. It requires the user to wear a debilitatingly heavy shoulder-mounted charge pack but if you were so inclined, you could easily have serfs wire one or more into your power armour. Of course, there’s nothing preventing you from strapping a few charge packs to your plate, but it would look a little ridiculous and leave you slightly encumbered.
>Hellpistol (5 per weapon)- The miniaturized version of a Hellgun, it is little more than a toy in your crushing grip. Still, it’s more than deadly enough to kill a mortal in flak as if he were naked, its charge pack is similarly downsized and if wired, its impact on your suit’s energy reserves would be negligible at most. More of a novelty than anything, really.

>(cont.)
>>
>>4077471
>Meltagun (10 per weapon)- Almost identical to the weapon tossed to you by Ghoul’khar before he abandoned any semblance of rational thought in favour of rage, you’ve already seen it in action and considering their tendency to overheat, a duplicate or two could be worthwhile. The effect they have on armour is devastating for such a small package and considering their size, there’s nothing preventing you from sheathing several on your belt, or perhaps hanging them on chains. Perhaps a fury or two could press-ganged into carrying your surplus equipment.
>Plasma Pistol (10 per weapon)- A few dozen defenders died clutching these, and you could have one or more too if you don’t mind the tiny size, short range, slow rate of fire, and small, if significant risk of the weapon exploding in your hand. More than compensating for the risk, (or would, if you didn’t already have a bolter) it is capable of nigh-ignoring armour and in a pinch, can be deliberately overcharged and thrown to function as a crude grenade. No Plasma Guns were among the wreckage, though the slots in the armoury suggest that they were stored here but were either removed some time ago, or less likely, invariably reduced to crushed powder by Ghoul’khar’s wrath.
>Plasma Grenade (2 per explosive)- Similar to the Plasma Pistol from a structural standpoint, with the exception that it’s designed to overheat and made to be thrown, rather than fired. Thankfully, most of these were intact and you can take as many as you please, though considering their unholy destructive capacity, it would be wise to get a bandoleer or satchel of some sort, rather than letting them dangle on the end of a chain or strapped to an exposed belt.
>Multimelta (25 for the weapon)- This was bolted down at the end of a chokepoint corridor and almost certainly intended to eviscerate your entire force, prior to the berserker brute-forcing the maze. The sheer quantity of superheated death involved would’ve done the job too, or at least put down a marine before the rest reached the gun-emplacement. In a word, it is massive, requiring even you to hold it with two hands though you can do so comfortably, and in exchange for the added mass and doubled barrels, it surpasses the lesser meltagun in every way.

When you’ve finished arming yourself as you please, you continue searching the “precinct” to find its secrets and walking through the tunnels, you find little that doesn’t pertain to the mundane duties of planetary law enforcement or the worship of the Corpse Emperor. That is to say, nothing of interest. Until you hear a hushed prayer behind a seemingly indistinguishable section of the wall and using your melta, burn a hole in the structure to reveal a sliding hatch that effortlessly yields to your superhuman strength. Inside are hundreds of books on shelves and a thin, wild-eyed mortal who shoots you in the chest with a laspistol, before turning it on his own skull. He screams when his forearm is snapped in two by a pinch, then starts yelling something or other about heresy, the judgement of the God Emperor, and a great deal of other drivel you’ve already heard a thousand times before. This hidden library is quite the intriguing find.

>What do you want do with these archives and their chronicler?
>Burn them, the lies of the False Emperor are of no interest to a Champion of Chaos.
>Reseal the chamber door and order a detachment of cultists to bar the entrance, you’ll examine it when you’ve finished pacifying the rest of the planet. The archivist will be bound, gagged, and watched under lasgun point with the promise that any preemptive harm befalling them will see everyone involved handed over to the Slaaneshi.
>Threaten the archivist into explaining the purpose of this place and what he was doing here, else you’ll leave him to be tormented by the furies, who seemed to terrify the defenders here as much as you’d expect from standard Guard, not whatever elite would be defending such a heavily fortified location. If he doesn’t speak, you’ll make good on your threat and command the furies not to kill him yet, the torturers might be able to wring some worthwhile information out.

You examine the plunder for a short time, then determine between your bolter, chainsword, and the meltagun you’ve already claimed there’s no further need. The Astartes comb over the munitions, a traitor seizes the multimelta, a few others emulate your example on lesser meltas, two claim plasma pistols, and a heretekically inclined neophyte takes four hellguns. Most grab as many plasma grenades as they feel they can get away with carrying, a veteran legionnaire takes a hellpistol for the humour of it, and what the Astartes overlook is tossed to the traitor elite who scramble to snatch the first they can take and squabble over it once they have, but none dare stab or shoot other over plunder in eyeshot of the marines. If a mortal has survived The Burning Gospel this long, it’s for good reason.

At your decree, the loyalist is dragged before you and made to watch a pack of furies tear into the dismembered corpse of a man he once knew. To his credit, he doesn’t vomit or beg for mercy but clenches his eyes shut and tenses in a way that makes you think he is unaccustomed to displays of brutality. Much befitting a scribe of the Imperium. “LOYALIST. YOU SHALL TELL ME WHAT I WISH TO KNOW OR THE FURIES IN MY THRALL WILL DELIVER UNTO YOU THE DIREST AGONIES OF THE IMMATERIUM, SUCH THAT YOU ARE LEFT BEGGING FOR OBLIVION OF THE SOUL WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE.” You listen, awaiting his response.

The whelp does not speak, but spits into the eye of the nearest daemon, which hisses in hate. “THEN YOU SHALL BREAK WITHOUT HONOUR.” Five of the furies lunge onto the mortal, shoving the cultists grabbing him by the shoulders aside as they drag him, kicking and murmuring silent prayers into the chamber. You sense that regardless of whether or not he snaps under the pressure, the archivist will be much more pliant when they are done. Each fury knows that the slightest damage of the shelves or this wretch’s death will see them suffer the worst torment you can visit upon them, but anything up to permanent mutilation is more than tolerable. It is welcomed.

A hundred of the traitor elite, those which were the first to follow the neophytes after Ghoul’khar are permitted to stay and watch over the prisoner while keeping a voxcaster in clear view, in case he should happen to change his mind. Ghoul’khar and Karrax run rampant across the proto-hive, slaughtering the foe by the multitude. Urkastur and Davmon ravage the noble spires with the precision of a frenzied servitor with a scalpel, seizing the nobility even as they plunder their bastions. Mortemus and Svorulak scourge what resistance remains, rallying thousands to their banner as they oversee a new atrocity every hour, that the Ruinous Powers might be lifted high as the corpse worshipers are cast low. You stand in the ruins of an Imperial bastion overrun by another, claiming not a whit of material wealth nor slaying a single loyalist soul. The Dark Gods must look down on you disappoint, for beyond breaching the gate, you have done nothing save orchestrate. Enough of this empty contentment.
You know better than most traitors that the Imperium cleaves mightily to its False Emperor, and unless this proto-hive were on the brink of secession from the Ecclesiarchy in Terra, there will be a cathedral here, a refuge from the madness scourging this world, barred shut and defended by those who would sooner seek shelter in faith before the fortifications of the PDF. There, is glory to be found. When you announce your intent, the militant horde shouts in foul excitement and a hundred fleet-footed cultists volunteer to lead you there. Not a word is spoken in acknowledgement, only the beginning of a black hymn to the Lord of Despair and the sound of marching boots. An hour and a half of fighting your way through hundreds of fleeing loyalist civilians on every street, half of which are left to rot where they fall, half of which are thrown into chains and made to a await a darker fate.

You see fewer and fewer loyalist PDF as you march, but the traitors are growing bolder and more than a few rally to your side. Some screaming cultists come to you as well, more than doubling, nay, tripling the losses you took from the berserker’s wrath. A frenzied intensity washes over the horde along with the skin-crawling sensation that a malign presence watches them in anticipation. The cathedral cannot be far and rising into the near the center of the nascent midhive, where the manufactorums and habitation units intersect, you hear it before you see it. The sound of the Corpse God’s faith singing even in the midst of their doom, interspersed with autogun fire and cries of pitched defiance.

Thousands of cultists are already thronged, slamming against gate-like doors but they are of no interest. Instead, you gaze upon the holiest of this world’s places in bottomless, monstrous hate and a twinge of disappointment, not only that those within would reject the Primordial Truth, but that were it tenfold greater and grander, it would hardly compare to the humblest shrines of Monarchia, rendered ashes so long ago. It is not a worthy offering to the least aspect of the Primordial Annihilator, but it is all that you have to give unto the Fourfold Dark Gods, and so it shall do. “SO IT SHALL DO!” The cultists know not why you shout, but they cry in assent nonetheless. “SO IT SHALL DO!”

>How do you wish to conquer the opposition within the cathedral?
>You and Astartes shall render the brass slag with meltas, step in, and slaughter the faithful within one-by-one, by bolter and chainsword until they succumb to the chance of life in service of Chaos or there are none left to slay. The cultists will await outside, ready and waiting to slay the mortals who would rather flee than fight an unwinnable battle.
>You will allow the fodder a chance to prove themselves and breach the entrance will the help of a bolter round or two into the center, through the cultists already there. The prayers within the cathedral go silent and the air is made still, as if in dread of the word you are to speak. For a time there is no response, and as the suspense mounts the hordes are left clenching their weapons with white-knuckles and you tapping your foot in your armour. Eventually, the voice of a feeble old man you know to be a thousandth of your age speaks from behind the door. “Damnation is your lot Heretic, and the least among us would sooner die than forsake the God Emperor on His Throne in Terra!” You sigh in a strange mixture of annoyance, piteous regret, and terrifying anticipation. A nod is given, a dozen meltaguns surge, and ten seconds later you are through the entrance and in their center.

Rolled 2, 3 - 4 = 1 (2d6 - 4)

My apologies for vanishing yesterday, but I was busy and didn't have any time to update. It'll likely be the same for the rest of the week, but I'll be able to get in some. I'm keeping track of a Favour Chart of every named Chaos follower in the background, and rolling for their boons and so on and so forth, but whenever you've done enough to advance I'll let you know and you'll be rolling for your mutations/gifts in the thread. You're relatively far from receiving another boon, but if you double-down on sacrifices (always a safe bet) or get lucky attracting a Chaos Gods' attention, you can get another quite quickly. Remember, not all blessings are positive from a mortal point of view and too many before you've gained sufficient glory can cause you to degenerate into a Chaos Spawn. I'm talking in the neighbourhood of dozens, though, you're an Astartes and resilient enough to handle quite a few quirks in your biology before it collapses in on itself.

Also, I forgot to mention, if you have uncorrupted gene-seed and are inclined to time-skip a decade or two, you can create new Astartes to join your warband OR you can sacrifice them for more favour. The dead Khornates had 10 gene-seed between them, 7 non-mutated enough to harvest and implant into a(n) (un)lucky mortal child. At the moment The Burning Gospel is fleet-based (and it isn't much of a fleet) but there are advantages to having a permanent fortified center of operations. Uccethea II is a very shitty candidate for a number of reasons, not the least of which are a tiny population, closeness to Imperial space, and a general lack of resources. If you're so inclined, you can venture into the Eye of Terror which is crawling with Chaos warbands, daemon worlds, and ancient ruins. There are a number of locations that, if you can exterminate or subjugate the denizens already there, can make a great fortress. The Eye of Terror is an unspeakably horrifying place where the laws of physics have next to no sway and daemons run rampant, but you're a Chaos Astartes can handle it.

>>
>>4080606
As long as I come back, of course. No it was not, the casualties could've been serious on your end, as it is, only one neophyte died.

>>4080609
It's not that long when you consider that Warp travel tends to take months and some Chaos warbands go years, or even decades between serious raids. You can timeskip if you want to say, build some serious fortifications or monuments, or anything to do with training marines, delving into tech-heresy, or modifying/constructing a void-faring vessel. This quest will continue until anons lose interest, or Ur-Shadaroth dies, is twisted into a Chaos Spawn, or ascends into a Daemon Prince. The odds of you actually managing daemon princedom are slim, but it can be done with enormous amounts of luck, a sufficiently impressive display of worthiness, or rarely, sheer persistence and enough fortitude not to succumb to Chaos Spawndom. Managing to rise into a Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided would take some serious bullshit, because you'd have to do something worthy of rising to Daemon Princedom on its own, but simultaneously please each of the Ruinous Powers enough to bestow it, and have them agree that you're not only worthy but worth giving that amount of power and independence. You can of course try to ascend to Daemon Princedom on your own by sorcerous means, but that entails an obscene amount of forbidden lore, blasphemous rituals, and again, luck to manage.

>-21 vs 30 You crush the loyalists underfoot, tearing hundreds limb from limb in an incandescent frenzy of bloodshed.
>-45 vs 1 Having done this hundreds of times before, the marines slaughter the thousands who flee your rage or are beneath your notice.
>37 vs 13 The neophytes do well for themselves, cutting down and capturing much of the chaff, until a fool without a helmet lifts a fanatic with a frag grenade to mock the Corpse God to his face.
You can feel the presence of the Ruinous Powers permeating you and you are enraptured. Standing in the entrance of a blasphemous cathedral to the False Emperor, you stare at devotees of the Imperial Creed numbering in the tens of thousands on their pews, every one terrified or resigned to imminent death. Before you stands a feeble old man in ecclesiastic vestments, faster than lightning, you lift him and are pleased to hear the same voice that sought to defy you scream in agony as his entrails fill your gauntlet. The viscera splatters against the floor and your chestplate as you laugh, cackling in maniacal glee as you dig deeper, crunching ribs, lungs, and other nameless chunks of meat until the life leaves his eyes. You hold him by the spine now, staring at the corpse, and causally snap its spine between two fingers, before casting it at the feet of a shuddering congregation too terrified to raise their improvised weapons. “SUCH IS THE FATE OF THOSE WHO WOULD DENY THE PRIMORDIAL TRUTH! BLASPHEMERS, COWARDS, AND WEAKLINGS ALL! READY YOURSELVES TO MEET THE DARK GODS!”

The next half hour fades into a haze of gushing gore, broken bone, and unspeakable laughter you can barely recognize, though it comes from your own throat as it has in a thousand atrocities in the past and Dark Gods willing, will again. Occasionally you hear loyalists firing autoguns, fools into your power armour, the wise into their wives and children that they might be spared your doom. A handful of Astartes unload their bolters into the scattered crowd, and some run them through chainswords, but most follow your example and rend the corpse-worshipers apart with no more than their hands, to demonstrate their strength and devotion to the Ruinous Powers. Though a naysayer might claim they take little notice for this was done through the miracles of gene-craft and archeo-tech backed by malign intent, rather than the luck, skill, and raw tenacity of a mere mortal, such lofty matters of theology are the last thing on any marine’s mind.

>>
>>4080633
As much as you might wish the chance to glorify the Chaos Gods by bringing their wrath on the nonbelievers could continue forever, you recognize that there are only so many loyalists here, and as the emptiness returns your massacre slows. Eventually, you and the other veterans are idly snapping necks and crushing skulls while the overeager fanatics among the neophytes keep running rampant. Only a few hundred mortals remain and you’re about to call the cultists in to loot and mutilate the dead when loud screaming draws your attention. Near the pulpit, a neophyte who tore off his helmet in exhilaration holds a mortal close to his face, spitting insults to the False Emperor while he weeps, but the tell-tale pinging sound and shoving of a frag grenade into his open mouth brings you to wince, then scowl as an explosion ends what could’ve been centuries of black crusading in an instant. You mutter obscenities as you approach the headless power armoured corpse, kick a dent into the pauldron, and spit acid on the bloody stain where the skull should’ve been. “PATHETIC.”

A handful of the traitors laugh at his foolishness, a diversion you don’t begrudge them. You have cleared the cathedral and the cultists remain, along with many thousands of loyalist prisoners. The battle for the proto-hive wages outside and for the most part, is already won for The Burning Gospel. You’ve seen this many hundreds of times, anyone harboring a hint of doubt will switch sides or kill themselves, the Chaos-aligned mortals will take the opportunity to settle old scores, pillage the ruins, or slaughter each other for the sake of it, and what loyalists remain are fighting out of some combination of spite, terror, and fanaticism. All that’s left is to consolidate your gains, desecrate the grave of a once-loyal Imperial world, and decide where the warband should go next. Of course, first the final bastions of resistance must be brought to heel and the marines regathered, but you’re not any obligation to do the former and the latter can always wait a few weeks. Or not, you’re the warlord after all, it’s your call to make. At the moment, you need to determine whether you want to appease the Ruinous Powers in depth at this cathedral or attend to other affairs. Such as this fool and the fallen Khornate’s unclaimed gene-seed, though that can always wait for the time being, as the mortals have no use for it, Ghoul’khar is busy berserking somewhere else, and no-one else in the warband would dare lay claim to what (you would claim) is yours by right.

Earlier, you mentioned the possibility of carving out territory for ourselves in the Eye of Terror. Would that include the entire thing rending the Galaxy in two (given this is the fourty second millennium) or does that only refer to the original territory? If it's the former, then it should be a lot easier since that opens up more "space" for people like us (understanding that space is a bad term, given how such concepts are twisted in the Immaterium).

Desecrate by our own hand the important parts of the cathedral, then leave some cultists to finish all the rest.

Add the remaining people of the church to our prisoners.

We will be using this later as one of the 7 places of sacrifice. And the fucking idiot who got his head blew off can have his geneseed sacrificed.

Finding worthy mortals among this group of worthless dregs is important. Getting info on where the last bastions of imperial resistance is so we can crush them with numbers is also important.

Enough time has been wasted here, in this crypt sanctum to a Corpse God. The Ruinous Powers may have been appeased by the offering of a thousand loyalist skulls and spines crushed within your gauntlet and they may yet be further enticed to shower unto you glorious gifts by the personal profanation of this tomb of a temple, that your very visage might be evidence of the Primordial Annihilator’s impending wrath made manifest… but you are material and must temper your thoughts of immortality in divinity with your warband’s needs and necessities. The Burning Gospel demands its dues, millions of zealots rebel against the Gilded Throne still, and dozens, perhaps hundreds of PDF and loyalist militia bastions remain, still hold steadfast against them.

If the remaining defenders insist on martyrdom in service of their idolatrous faith over eternal glory in the service of Chaos Undivided, you shall not disappoint the Fourfold Dark Gods with sluggish pace and shall be more than satisfied to oblige. Countless skulls await to be tossed onto the Skull Throne, innumerable carcasses to bloat with the Grandfather’s gifts… You can stay here no longer and give your command. One thousand of the traitor elite are to stay and see the Chaos Gods’ unholy work done over unto nook, crack, and cranny of this blasphemous shrine until it seethes with the slightest hint of the Immaterium’s limitless potential. Joining them are to be two thousand of the rank and fodder, cultists who know nothing of the rituals of The Burning Gospel, once the Word Bearers’, now theirs to keep, but must be taught if they are to serve, and even now ready themselves to learn with a devotion any scholar would envy. Last, a traitor marine is given the honor of overseeing the dismantling and remaking of this wretched place, for every champion of the Word Bearers, even if estranged, has defiled enough temples to know that cultists are incompetent at matters of precise geometry and esoteric symbolism, and can rarely be trusted to do it themselves.

First, however, a pair of egregious examples of the False Emperor’s will need be disposed and none are better suited to the task than you. A vast statue stands behind the pulpit, wrought of rockcrete but polished to such a sheen an onlooker might think it gray marble. It doesn’t depict the Corpse God or one of the Primarchs who turned their backs on what could’ve been apotheosis, but a minor saint, most likely false whose malignant dogma and insipid name you have not bothered to recognize. No matter, it was built for the Imperial Creed, down it goes at your own hands, arms raised in supplication snapped off at the elbow, a picturesque face marred to unrecognizability, and perhaps most importantly, cast onto the floor, back facing to the roof, so that Terra may forever lie beyond the mindless idol’s sight. The remaining neophytes and cultist throng watch with interest, they are as eager to learn as you are to teach. Less theologically stimulating but, if you could bare to think such blasphemy, perhaps more interesting is the fate of the headless failure’s geneseed.

No long-winded speech is given, only the digging out of the throat and viscera under the shell until its glistening surface is visible, then wrenching it out of the power amour, holding it high to the sky that the Dark Gods might recognize your bestowal, and before the eyes of your followers, sizzling, popping, and eventually crunching the priceless progenoid. When you are finished and all that remains in the palm of your hand and between your fingers is featureless glistening muck and paste, you cast them aside and point to the headless carcass- more than enough to justify your deed. The excess of its consumption may have pleased Slaanesh, but your standards are high, it was not a worthy meal, and moreover, you do not have the time to waste on idle pleasure. A world of unbelievers, kindling for The Burning Gospel awaits to be set alight in offering for the Dark Gods’ delight! “MAY THEY BE PRAISED!”

There's a 1% chance OP got hospitalized or had is computer stuck by a bolt of lightning, but I'm guessing he's just dropped it out of old habits. OP, you faggot, if you want to just constantly make fragment quests that don't go anywhere, well, that's actually fine. Most quests are either outright shitposts or stillborn. Just don't make a big deal about how you're going to do it right to then fuck up on following through. If you genuinely want to stop the habit, you can continue making posts like nothing happened and follow through. People will just go along. If you are going to drop a quest you've promised to continue going, then at least own up to it and say as much instead of disappearing, god damn.

I'm mad at this because I am very similar in starting shit and then stopping. I hate seeing people promising to do better and then failing because it reminds me of myself and how I've dropped things. I don't like seeing shit like this, especially with somebody who's clearly capable of putting out good shit. Seriously man, I was rooting for you. Still am.
