The Hive world, a polluted radioactive desert, plagued by toxic fumes and acid rains fueled by the industry of a galactic need. Hive cities, a dozen towering archaeologies that rise for miles and stretch across the planet for miles more. Each one housing billions of people, most in cramped inhumane spaces.
Deep in the foul underhive is where you survive, where the poorest of the poor and those criminals who have escaped the law live and suffer. Abandoned by those above the power has long since been turned off and resources are scarce. The law and order of the Imperium sees little light in this place only appearing when dangerous chaos rears its head, snuffing it out with ruthless efficiency. Gangs rule diving up territory by those who have the most strength and can fight to hold it.
Yet light, dim as it may be is appearing in this darkness. A priest of Christianity born again leads a flock, turning them away from the violence and hate that is so prevalent in these times. Will one man be enough to save the underhive or perhaps the whole hive itself?

Having driven off the first onslaught of the Flayed Vultures new problems await your attention. You are out of food after feeding the refugees and you do not have nearly enough space to house all of the new recruits who wish to join the church. Work will need to be done and quick or else you will all starve and the Vultures will pick from your bones.

>> Change rationing for members of flock or refugees

Refugees- Currently at Significant Rationing
>> No feeding – they will starve and may question why you stopped.
>> Harsh Rationing - Just what they need to survive, a thin broth mushroom soup with some viridians sprinkled in. (Increase food consumption by 125%)
>> Significant rationing - A few mushrooms, some viridians, the rare piece of meat from a rat or some other foul vermin. Just enough to keep them from complaining of hunger (Increase food consumption by 150%)
>> Standard Rationing – Mushroom soup and half a pack of viridians. Should keep them healthy if they don’t do too much activity. (Increase food consumption by 175%)
>> Barely rationing - Mushroom soup a whole pack of viridians and small piece of meat in the soup. Same as what you feed your flock. Will keep them healthy (Increase food consumption by 200%)

Member Rationing- Currently at light rationing
>> Heavy rationing. Would apply the Malnourished debuff in combat having their max health be 3 wounds. 50% food usage.
>> Light Rationing would apply the hungry debuff in combat having their max health be 4 wounds. 75% food usage.
>> No Rationing. No Debuff so health is 5 wounds. 100% food usage

We need to find more food sources or improve their production, being hungry is bad for health and morale so it s unacceptable to have it like that.

What could do the job ?
More mushrooms farms ?
Maybe a farm of rodents ?
Other animals ?
plants (search in the underhive, buy from a merchant from above ?)
Going deeper ?

There is the mention of larger creatures around, for now we know of the big centipedes.
>>4081779

We will make those next turn, expanding our living space and claiming more floors for space. Maybe we should do it another time as well.

In another turn we could enlarge the tunnels and create larger spaces.
>>
>>4081837
To farm rats, we will first need to significantly increase our mushroom production. Getting seeds from the merchants is a great Idea.

True

It could backfire if those plants cant live/grow well enough here. Searching for other sources of food instead might give us an edible plant or another mushroom that can be used, of course searching in the underhive isn t really safe.

This. Pray to the LORD to deliver us from our disastrous predicament. God is the answer to all.

Have all gather in mass prayer to the one true God.
>>
Since there are no decisions, good time to discuss strategy. Going forward, how should we deal with the Vultures?

Should we just defend ourselves or go on the offense to destroy this threat to the wider community?

On the other hand, our LORD teaches that no human is beyond redemption and that was must love the enemies who hate us most. On the other hand, they're Slaneesh cultists...so maybe being partially demonic makes it okay to kill them? There is no question that we can kill to defend the innocent, but if we attack them, it raises moral problems as Christians.

what would Jesus do?
>>
>>4082303
https://www.gotquestions.org/demons-Bible.html
My, those descriptions for demons sound remarkably like the four chaos gods.

Therefore, we should cast out the demons like Jesus did.
>>
>>4082303
Wrong. The commandment is 'thou shalt not murder.' The lord makes an exception for times of war in the defense of one's homeland and people. God in the old testament even had the Israelis slaughter the Caananites down to the very last, every man, woman and child.

I imagine literal demon-touched Chaos spawn deliberately and zealously spreading the taint of evil would be met with even harsher punishment.
>>
>>4082303
They have already given over their souls to satans power, the only thing we can do for them is offering them a swift and merciful death. All we gain by allowing them to spread is more enemies and allow them to damn more souls to the pit. It is our duty as Christians to wipe them out.

Such is the will of God
>>
>>4082308
>>4082310

I see the point, (and having turned their soul to Satan seems like an exception to most moral rules), but the difference from Joshua is that our God has declare that there is no 'outsider', that all people are his and to be saved. There is no Israel and Canaan, there is only the Kingdom of God.

Maybe we could try exorcism? Like Jesus did at the beginning of the Gospel of Mark.
>>
>>4082320
we can try the exorcism I am willing to give it a shot, but if it fails we all must be ready and willing to do what must be done.
>>
>>4082320
An exorcism is more trouble than it's worth. These are chaos cultists, once they go to the eightfold path they cant go back. Just kill them.
>>
>>4082303
It is first and foremost our duty to defend the innocent.
Therefore i say kill them all and let god sort them out

We should go on the offensive as soon we have stabilize the situation here and are more prepared to fight them, can t leave evil around.

Their bodies where twisted and they where more than fine to go in that path. if you do an exorcism, since there are probably no demons in them (and when a man has a demon in it in 40k it becomes far more a menace than a normal cultist becoming something of a super human for a while before is body collapse dead since it can t hold the creature for long. And we would have seen this during the combat with a good fighting bonus on their part), you don t exactly save them. And that s because they have fallen there and they search the favor and blessings of the dark gods. You may take out corruption out of them, but the devotion and what the dark gods could offer will not go away unless you wipe well their mind.

you usually don t do an exorcism at something that will fight you, has no demon in them (corruption sure, but the problem is still their mind that has choose and wants that path. if it has a demon good luck capturing it) and has become a frenzied drugged zealot.

> Heavy Rationing
Feeding everyone comes paramount and with the new population you have no leeway to give them more food then absolutely necessary. You tell your flock of the new rationing rules in the next sermon. None complain but you see the reluctance in their faces.

>Heavy rationing implemented all food goes 25% further.

> Dig out the new farm plots.

Food now being the most pressing thing for your flock you immediately direct them and the newcomers to digging out the revealed dirt walls connected to the tunnels. With many times the man power this goes far faster then before, with the digging and transporting of the excess dirt going smoothly and quickly. While this is happening the trained engineers of the flock work on adding new connections to the irrigation setup so that it will flow into these two new farms. Once enough is dug out some of the mushrooms are carefully transplanted over to the new fields on the site of buried bodies in the hope they grow more, you and your flock have never done this but you need it to work. All that’s left to do to these plots is digging it out more, bracing it, getting torches setup and finding some way to alter the humidity and temperature as your vision showed you.

>Gained
>2 mushroom farms (irrigated, Fertilized,) (0.01/0.4 weeks)

As an immediate solution to the food you head to the base of the violent Rats with your thrones for trading. With the new size of the flock perhaps you should try haggling to bring their prices down lower as for now each throne does not go far at all.

Deciding to Haggles with the Violent rats, you request to speak to their leader. You begin explaining to him of the dire situation with starving refugees that you are feeding and how food is running out and the money you make now is not enough to keep up with their needs. So the deal with food is that if you spend all your money it gets you about 0.75 food for a week. Your farms are harvested next month which will get you past that to the 1.00 food level plus some extra.

Deciding that you can no longer allow the Flayed Vultures to continue to expand and commit their atrocities you prepare to attack into their territory. The Scarlet Knuckles and Brass Slicers are ready to attack with you believing that together the three of your forces should overpower theirs. All that’s left is to decide how to attack them. There is only the one main tunnel into their territory with a few much smaller connecting tunnels so the location of attack is decided for you. However the method of attack is not. The leader of the Scarlet knuckles think you should use the goodwill of the refugees arm them with basic weapons and send them to attack first, while the Brass Slicers leader disagrees massacring hundreds of refugees so you can have an easier fight is against Gods teachings. He believes the best armed and armored should go first to punch a hole for the others to go through. Both look to you to decide which plan to go with.

I am against this, Indulgence has no Biblical basis its something the Catholics made up to justify the crusades and steal money from the poor.

The only one that can forgive sins and show us the path to heaven is Jesus Christ.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" john 14:16

To suggest we a man corrupted by sin ourselves can lessen that of anyone is tantamount to sacrilege.

You agree with the Brass Slicers we must put ourselves forward as the protectors of the weak and helpless. It would be cruel and against the teachings of Jesus to use them as body shields and fodder. The Scarlet Knuckle leader grunts in dissatisfaction but raises no further protest. You all leave the meeting to prepare you forces for battle.
Before the barricade to the Vultures you rally your men. About 100 armed and armored and the front 15 with the best guns armor, blades, and training. Both the Brass Slicers and the Scarlet Knuckles bring each bring 50 of their men the leaders themselves directing them armed in their best gear. With you is another 200 refugees making up partially those who joined you and those who wish to fight for their home; only armed in crude implements you hope they will not be needed. Behind you the Samaritans quietly slip away into the tunnel you are about to charge through, with any luck they will remove any traps that may slow you and damage resolve. You stand above them all on raised section of a barricade and begin your Sermon

“The Bible tells you and I not to get weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give up.
The challenge for you and I is to weather the storm before the breakthrough.
The challenge for you and I is to know that every mountain top of victory will have a valley of the shadow of death.
The challenge for you and I is to know that in between victories are struggles.
The challenge for you and I is to know that in between breakthroughs are battles and before every new breakthrough, there is a harder battle than we have ever fought!
Moses was blessed to deliver the people of Israel, but he battled the Pharaoh.
David was blessed as a king, but he battled Goliath.
We are blessed to bring about the resurrection of faith! But we will battle the Flayed Vultures and many thousands beyond them.
There can not be Triumph without being Tried.
There can not be Testimony without the Test.
There can not be Victory without a Battle.
There could be no Resurrection without the Crucifixion!
“So if you and I don't turn back we will inherit new land, save new people, we will free the underhive from the shackles of suffering!”

Those before you cheer as you step down from the box.You take your las gun in your hands, once used to spread a false truth now used to bring about the faith. You call the 15 strongest with you and head through first into the small fortified passage into the tunnel.

Slinking past Joshua as he makes his speech into the tunnels you are somewhat saddened having to missing the speech, but your work is paramount. You and your Samaritans slink through the dark tunnels finding and disarming traps, also managing to avoid scouts. The traps themselves are strange, clearly not meant to kill they seem to be built just to maim, skin and cause agony. Leading your men down the tunnel is thankfully free of surprises. Angel approaches you telling you that most of the traps should be cleared, just stay away from the edges. The call goes back through your forces and with luck and the guidance of god no one should be hurt by the. As you march forward you hear a shout of a scout ahead of you, they seem running back to report to the Vultures of your coming. It seems they aren’t foolish enough to leave it unguarded then.

After several tense minutes the first gunshot rings embedding itself in your flack, but dealing no harm to you. While no barricade It seem a line of the gangers are holding the end of the tunnel with their guns. You shout to your troops
“Shields up!”
The 15 around you raise their shields and brace their pistols on them firing back. While those just behind bare rifles. You yourself aim your Lasgun prepared to end these foul gangers.

> Have the gangers and refugees hold the area while you take the tunnel to the right
You direct the gangers and refugees to hold up in this area and fortify the path to the left while you assault to the right. Then once you are finished you can all assault to the left, as far as you can tell it’s the best way to minimize losses. You take your warriors while you head through the right tunnels.
The tunnel is lightly defended as your troops easily cut through them, the next room however is horror show. Flayed humans pinned to the wall with bended scrap through priced through their bodies some even still alive screaming begging for help. Many of your Warriors are shaken to their core and make the symbol of the cross to defend their souls. Quickly you take them down from the scrap only to find that it was the only thing keeping them from bleeding out. After some begging for life those that you tried to save die in your arms. Your fury burns brighter at such horrific treatment to their fellow man. What manner of person could do such a thing? With renewed vigor you march down the tunnels quickly taking down the paltry resistance in this direction. Your las gun blasts through another of the sadistic gangers when you begin to hear the laughing and screaming from further down the tunnel. As you and your troops march approach it get cacophonously loud dozens of people must be being tortured in here. Your troops blast down the door into the sub block and see terror. Dozens of people strung up in various sadistic poses, each one tortured in some fresh horrible way, the very sight of it makes you want to retch and fills you with anger. Your companions seem to feel the same way prepared to blast any gangers in this fresh hell. From behind one of the a woman stuck to a flayed cross crying and begging comes out a beautiful creature, its shape approaching an androgynous human, something from your dreams a vision of perfection and sexuality. You hear her voice in your head.
“Come Joshua I shall show you the heaven you so deeply desire”

You see the deamonette still wearing the form of a beautiful woman charges forward at you, her arms outstretched to impale you. It’s too fast there is no way you can get out of the way in time. Suddenly Mark slams into your side bringing you to the ground as the claws narrowly avoid you and cut into the side of Mark taking your place. “For god, for the underhive” He gasps out as he uses the long handle of the hammer to push the deamonette off him the claws leaving his flesh, fresh blood dripping to the floor. He readies his hammer to fight

3 = The frenzy causes the turned’s blows to be sloppy and uncoordinated. Your allies quickly takes advantage of this bringing them down with fury. (3 damage)

> Possessed Church warriors (Broken)

While your own battle is that of struggle, the non-turned holy warriors make short work of the possessed. Either breaking out of their own violation or being held down and knocked unconscious they quickly loose fighting numbers and are defeated entirely.

Seeing your struggle against this daemon that looks like an angel several of your allies join you surrounding the thing and its last possessed.

Your blows carve into the creature it taking deep cuts and thrusts that would kill any normal man, yet it still breaths albeit with labor. For the first time you see fear on its face. 3 = You and your companions endless blows tear down the creature as it tries to find a way to escape. (Deal three wounds)

despite its attempts to escape it stands no chance, after dozens of blows you and your warriors finally cut down the creature. Despite your bayonet in its throat it speaks foul words.
“I will remember you Joshua do not think you will avoid the wrath of Slannesh after what you have done”
With those ominous words it gurgles up blood and finally stops moving. The creatures form suddenly changes, no longer a beautiful woman it is an abhorrent purplish creature with claws for hands and disgusting mangled body. This must be the true form of the daemon. With its death Juin the warrior finally comes to his senses and begs your forgiveness. You tell him he fell under the spell of a demon under the service of Lucifer and that while it is not wholly his fault he must harden his mind against such influences in the future.

Your forces free the suffering souls throughout the room stuck in terrible devices intended to inflict pain and kill slowly and eventually the screams stop and only sobs and blessed prayers fill the room. You are lucky you lost no men to this encounter it could have gone far far worse. Seeing the body of the daemon on the floor you have a warrior use his longsword to decapitate it and take its head. Let us see how the Vultures react when seeing their object of worship slaughtered like the beast it was.

You tell the surviving victims to go to your church where they will find healing and food, you will stay as you still have a foul daemon worshiping gang to destroy. You head back to the area you had the gangers fortify seeing they have taken a few losses but it has held against whatever attacks they sent. The two ganger leaders ask what happened as you explain it to them almost not believing their words. You show them the head and they both shudder in disgust viewing the horrible thing. They agree it is good we attacked, letting this spread would have been the death of the underhive or attracted the attention of the upper hive perhaps an even worse fate. Now all that is left is to decide what to do next.

>Your troops are in decent condition most are battered due to the friendly fight but as the loyalists fought primarily non lethally most of the ones who were possessed were only battered or slightly injured, they are getting tired though after hours of fighting.

I say we attack now. Seeing the severed head of their heathen deity's servant might just shatter their already shaken morale, and attacking right away would mean we can end this now before they try some sort of desperate ritual that could be very bad for EVERYONE.

Great session
I was unable to stay until the end but still a good job. Thanks for using Mark as I requested if I wasn't online.
Can we roll a dice to make improvised bandages made on the moment from our scavvie vests and use them to patch the wounded warriors bodies ?
Should I roll a dice to do the same with Mark ?

////

"And we too will remember you, next time you will suffer our righteous fury and we will work to make your witchcraft become nothing more than useless words in the wind of faith !"
says Mark spitting his own blood near the demon foul corpse.

Limping and holding his hip with one free hand Mark comes near Joshua and the two gang leaders.
"Their deviant leader it's probably there, we must not let him or any other of these disgusting mad men escape. For this purpose would it be wise if we encircle the room where their dreaded place is ? And do we keep the same battle formation as before when we enter, with the warriors of the church in the spearhead of our force ? We will fight with zeal oh mighty Joshua, but it will be hard for our brothers."

The church of fertile soil made bandages in med kits, I am assuming the troops are already using them when necessary protecting any light injuries.

> Attack the rest of the Flayed vultures end this now.

You know you cannot leave this up to chance, with the horrors they have created they cannot have the time to escape, plan, fortify or anything else. You tell your men to make ready for battle and inform the gangers they will be following suit. This will be the den of their corruption and where most of their forces will be concentrated most likely the hardest battle yet.

>>4084845

Encircling them would be difficult as we do not know any other path to the other main tunnel to their territory and as this is new terrain we do not know the smaller tunnel connections. However Mark bring into question the formation of our forces. Should we follow the same technique as before have some other strategy?

>Deciding to keep doing what has worked in the past you take the warriors and gangers with you and delve into the tunnel.

It is pitch black, they must have taken down all the lights. Your men raise torches so that they can see. Traveling for a few minutes you see nothing not even the horrific flayed corpses these Vultures love so much, just strait dark tunnel. For a moment you wonder if they had already escaped when the brother next to you shouts “Take cover hit the floor” and grabs you by the chest plate and drags you to the floor. Suddenly rapid thudding and pings fill the room as a flashing blinding light comes from in front of you. Hundreds of bullets ring through the tunnel as more and more lights flash up. From the lights you can just make out a makeshift barricade and a heavy stubber mounted on its front laying fire onto your men.

3 = Despite the overwhelming firepower coming from the Vultures defenses your troops manage to quickly put down any heads that appear. (Deal 3 damage)

Taking this opportunity many of the gangers and your holy forces raise their guns and bodies from being prone on the ground and fire in rapid succession. You line up the shot on the heavy gunners head as he swings around on the bevel of the gun finally spotting you just as you pull the trigger. The laser from your blast sears into his skull melting away the fleshing making it look like a cruel smile as his last impulse goes through his hands and pulls the trigger causing the first blast to fire at you then swing wildly up. The bullets ricochet around you one catching itself deep into your flack armor cutting an inch into your skin. Without the armor you would be lacking much of a chest.

(+15 to group combat with heavy gunner killed)

3 = Despite the overwhelming firepower coming from the Vultures defenses your troops manage to quickly put down any heads that appear. (Deal 3 damage)

The instant the gunner is dead your troop rise up and begin firing into the ranks of the enemy. Already weakened by the lengthy assault they fall in droves none surviving to escape to tell their masters that the holy are coming.

>Slannesh Ganger Defenders (Annihilated)

Now to keep moving forward, you lost some troops and were injured yourself but this is no time to stop. You have your troop bandage the injured the heavily wounded directing the refugees to bring home any to hurt to fight. Only a few more rooms and tunnels and the vultures are dead. As you pass the barricade you have your troops take the heavy stubber it could come in use.

The next room seems to have been where they slept, dozens of cots side by side and a few floors of it, You find a few of the Vultures here but seemingly not expecting you. Your allies put them down quick and clear out the floors above you. The horrid decorations are back however with flayed skin and bodies decorating the walls and strange malignant paintings that just looking at makes your skull ache. Once the area is clear you make sure your men clear out of it quickly. Then through another tunnel this one well lit and clearly used for travel, but empty for now. You approach the fortified door in the next room and use your las gun to burn through the locks. Kicking it open you see pandemonium.

An orgy, Naked women and men lost to passion and madness grinding and glistening. You see blood being spilt by many, killing their partners in some terrible dance. The heat is overbearing making almost instantly start to sweat. You see dozens of torches lighting the room alongside more of those damned paintings all over the walls making the whole thing appear terrifyingly unreal. In the center a throne sits atop a writhing mass of bodies. A Human seemingly sculpted from marble sharing both the features of man and women, A bronzed muscular chest and a single breast, another false perfection. It stands atop the bodies of those under it pointing a curved decorated blade at you. Smiling a malicious grin it speaks with a harmonic voice.
“Revelers welcome our guests”

A cacophonous screech grows through the room as the revelers stand their malformed bodies becoming evident, each one blasting its vocals in your direction as your allies start to fan out around you. It is painful almost stunning you. You take the bag clipped to your belt and remove the disgusting head of the Daemon you and your brothers slew, raising it above yourself so that all can see. The screaming stops and for a moment there is blessed silence before it turns to wailing, you see the smile of their leader turn into a viscous scowl. You throw the head into their masses any near it running into the masses of bodies to avoid their horrible truth. You shout out to your followers
“Brother, Molotovs show them the flames of God”
Each one with you in the room pulls out a glass bottle filled with flammable sludge and a sloth hanging out. They take their torches and begin lighting the cloth.
The man atop the orgic mass Screams
“Kill them stop them, Tear their souls for Slannesh!”

Crit-pass = Guided by the LORD each shot of your lasgun cuts down a foe with impunity. (Deal four wounds)
You feel his guidance, his hands over yours showing you the path to the future. Aiming you watch their leader sprint across the room leaping over bodies with amazing acrobatic leaps but nothing he will do can stop your aim, You fire with impossible accuracy at the place he lands striking him directly into the skull, the light fracturing off his hardened shiny skin, then a second and a third blast strikes into the same melting the flesh from his skull frying his brains. He tries to take a step forward as yet another blast strikes him collapsing his head onto itself as the body falls onto one of his followers, Her shill scream causes others to look and see with terrible panic that their leader is dead. However his concubines’ eyes lock onto yours with a vicious glare as they each sprint at you.

1 =The firepower of your allies barely manage to hold back the tide of bodies coming to swallow you all. The firing from the mass is impossible to dodge, dropping a few brothers (Deal 1 damage Take 1)
As you preform you divinely ordained feat your brothers are desperately holding back the tide just keeping them out of arms reach with their guns, taking losses as the bullets of your foes pour into your line. They kept them out however long enough for the Heavy Bolter to be placed its gunners just coming into position as your brothers clear a spot for them to fire into. While In the back the troops Molotov’s are lit and thrown spewing fire at they crash into the walls, roof and into the center of the orgic mass. Screams of agony spread throughout them.

3 = You and your allies shots ring true, preventing their leader and his minions from getting closer and dealing death (Deal three wounds)

With several shots of you Lasgun you down two more of the concubines causing the rest to reconsider their goals. They turn from the combat and join the masses to attempt to flee.

3 = Your men hold their ground valiantly, keeping the foe at bay and fearful of approaching despite their numbers.(Deal 3 damage)

The Heavy bolter opens up dealing untold amounts of death, each bullet tearing through multiple bodies, the amount of screams quickly quiet as their voices are cut short. Flames leap across them as the oil on their bodies they were just using for pleasure is now a fuel for a righteous fire. Any attempt of rushing your troops is abandoned with this assault they flee back into the tunnles trying to run from your onslaught.

As they flee many are cut down but still some escape. You are sure the bulk of their strength is now defeated and only these scraps remain, but is it worth sending your troops after them to purge the rest. Or perhaps it is time to give the living mercy as Jesus did and a chance to repent their cruel sins and excesses.

Guys we're talking chaos cultists. Even if it is thematic, surely we can recognise that if there was a way to readily convert them back then Chaos wouldn't be such a issue to the Imperium.

Also on a separate point: we should make sure to grab that heavy stubber if we can; mount it on a armoured cart and we've got a weapon that'll make any future assault far easier. Not to mention it odd to make producing them ourselves a bit easier since we'll have a model to work from.

> Have your followers gather the survivors and bring them to this room. Once they are here have them repent for their sins and gift them mercy.

“Stop” You command your troops.
“They are broken and can threaten us no more as they are, but we will not leave them to grow anew in some dark place. Go into the tunnels take the routing enemy and bring them here, we shall show them the light of God”
quickly obeying your order the uninjured of your forces fan out into the tunnels where they escaped. While they do that holy work you go about the room and tear down those horrific paintings, even still causing your head to throb in pain looking at them. Gathering them all in a pile ready to burn you wait for the escaped Gangers to be returned.

Over the next few hours more and more of them are brought in, many with freakish mutations, tendrils where an arm should be, hairless, scaled pink, occasionally a serpentine tail rather then legs. Truly these are creatures cursed by the devil. They huddle together with your faithful keeping watch over them, their guns ready at a moments notice. Eventually the last of your brothers returns with 3 of them in tow, it may not be all of them but for sure it is most and that is the best you can hope for. You move towards them dropping your weapon to the floor and prepare to speak when suddenly a voice cries out from the crowd, standing proudly forward is one of the concubines, her skin is that of a reptiles showing clear corruption to all.
“What have you brought us here for redeemer to burn us in the fires of your Corpse God! He is dead we should worship the gods who give us pleasure”
Do these deceived people believe you to worship the emperor of mankind? You must do away with these illusions.
“No I worship a true god, one that speaks of forgiveness, mercy, and temperance”

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” Ephesians 1:7
1 = Some of the cultists listen to your words and separate themselves from the others. One takes the torch.

You perform a sermon there speaking of the forgiveness that god can give, that it is not too late to surrender the faith of their demonic masters. Many fall silent and look down in shame at this but some you see move away. With what almost appears to be a tangible agony they come towards you a group of no more than 40 one man at the head speaks his own flesh twisted by the daemons
“ I am sorry for the sins I have committed, please forgive me for all that I have done, I did not mean for it to end so terribly.”

You rest a hand on his shoulder and speak
“It is not from me you should seek forgiveness but that of our LORD, and in this admittance you have already earned it. Take the torch burn the false idols of the daemon”

You see his body wrack with pain as he takes the torch and trudges though to the gathered paintings idols and all manner of sinful creation. With a scream he throws the torch into it and then falls to the floor in agony along with all who join him. The flames suddenly leap up consuming the iconography with fearful speed. At this same instance the concubine screams a feral roar and charges at you, her hand visibly turning to claws with those behind her only to be swiftly cut down by the bullets of the men watching them.

You rush over to the fallen man and see his mutation gone, cured by some miracle. He reaches up feebly and takes your hand, he cries out at this
“no, I can’t, I can’t feel!” and breaks down sobbing before you. Those that followed him seem to suffer similar fates some bringing their hands dangerously near the fire only to cry out that they can feel nothing. You try to comfort the man but it seems little will help him for now.
Other than the horrific bloodshed around you the supernatural discomfort seems to be abating from this place. The leaders of your allied gangs come up to you the Brass Slicer speaks first.
“You’ve done it, I didn’t believe it was possible but you did it, killed the daemons and their worshipers. By some holy influence you even converted some of their own.”
The Scarlet Knuckle speaks next
“Yes what we did, no, you did was beyond mortal men your god does seem to have some sway in this world. Much will need to be decided now, but I see clearly that for all of us to survive we must stay together. You are the better leader, I suggest we bring our groups together to consolidate resources and spread the worship of this kind god of yours.”

>>

I would say we should break apart the torture implements first. Burn what is flammable. Any metal should be purified before it is remolded into more... Useful tools.

As for the... Orgy room, it should be burned and cleared. No salvaging that place.

As for the weapons the Vultures used, we should go over each carefully, to see if any were Marked Or etched with the heretical symbols of their Heathen god. If so.

They must be disposed of.

As for the opened food? Burn it. Don't even risk it, with whatever they could have put in it.

Or... Perhaps the Unfeeling might know what has been tainted and what has not, if they can recall...

We should either build up the farms, or find yet another source. Maybe having all this new territory may yet yield more sources of farmable dirt, if we look.

Once we have food secured, the next priority should be training priests, including literacy. That might take a year or more, so we should start now. Only with more priests can we actually tend to the spiritual needs of our growing flock.

As for the... Orgy room, it should be burned and cleared. No salvaging that place.

You have your men quickly dispose of everything that could have been tainted in these rooms, the orgy room and torture room quickly becoming a pyre as the heretical materials burn. Any metal left over is scavenged to be melted down and remolded into more pure implements.

>Keep the weapons but consecrate and purify them before any sort of usage or handing them out

You personally take on the task of consecrating and purifying the weapons of the enemies with no one else trained to do the task. You start with the most valubale weapons, the power sword and heavy Stubber, the rest will need to be done when you have the time. In the mean time they are locked up in the armory where no one can access them but you and Samuel Brown. After purifying it you take the power sword for yourself, having it attached on the belt of your flack armor.

> Burn opened food

You burn all of the opened food in the pyres, after what you heard from your new faithful there is no chance that any of yours will eat this tainted food.

That verse is pretty clear in establishing Simon Peter as the head of Christ's church on Earth, a point further reinforced by his leadership among the Apostles following the Crucifixion. So, yeah, if pope=head of church on Earth, then Jesus did appoint the first Pope.

Simon Peter was also Bishop of Rome during his life. It is assumed that when he appointed his successor, St. Linus, to be Bishop of Rome, he also appointed him his successor as Christ's Vicar on Earth.

Mark Hammers of Light
Mark Zwarar

Son of a crafter, the unnamed boy that was Mark lived a difficult life similar to many others in the underhive. Before seeing the light and becoming a man, he survived in the tunnels with ferocity and with selling the objects he made out of scraps. After a day he had listened to the words of the great Joshua he joined him, seeing an opportunity of redemption and the possibility to help a good man. Mark soon finds a place with a loving family, a purpose and the possibility to do is craft. And after his baptism he was given a name. God existed, Joshua was his prophet and he would have helped both.

Infirmary

The hammers set to construction once again, they dedicate themselves to clean another floor nearby the church from rubble and garbage, to then secure it with supports and columns. Mark after having been severely wounded during the holy war against the Flayed vultures and seeing every day men around with open wounds, women in pregnancy in great difficulty and people with diseases not getting help knew what he and the hammers would have built next. An infirmary, a place that the people of the hive or the above used to heal themselves. Inside it would have been divided by walls of concrete for different needs : wounds, medical controls, diseases and pregnancies. Mark would have asked Joshua how it should be built so that it can be a proper infirmary.

Personal

Mark shall work on strengthening the will and resolve of the church flock, so that they may not fall easily against sorcery, malicious words and magic all used for divide christians and put an end to their holy mission. He will first work on the warriors and the best of the church.

>> Dig out more farm plots.
With the battle against the vultures ended, food is once again a pressing necessity on your mind. It is prohibitively expensive to pay for the food for everyone even with the tithing not to mention the scavvies and refugees you feed that are outside of your church. So farming down in this desolate place must take a forefront in your goals, with significantly more territory you should be able to find more dirt plots to dig out and sources of water to redirect. You send out your flock to hunt for them and once found dig them up. After the weeks effort your flock managed to find 3 more farmable areas, partially dug them out and started the beginnings of the farm

>> Gained 3 partially dug Mushroom Farms (0.02/0.5 weeks)

>> Try to develop some way to farm the mushrooms with better efficiency

Focusing on the vision you had long ago when trying to improve the farm you remember that the air in the cave needs to be cooler to grow better. The natural state of the underhive is a sweltering heat due to all the fire smoke and machinery above and below, perhaps sealing the caverns off from the rest will help somewhat. You work with a few of the engineers to make a solid wall and door leading into each of the mushroom farms. After a couple of days it does feel noticeably cooler in there if only by a little bit.

> Mushrooms farms gained -> (lightly cooled, increases mushroom growth rate)
>>
>>4086330

>Samuel Brown sends time recruiting from recently converted refugees primarily looking for people with any experience in survival and engineering, taking the most promising 15 as his apprentices. Brown also makes it clear none is to go near the tainted weapons until Joshua says it's safe.”

Samuel Brown meets much success recruiting from the new refugees, the idea of making your own food and armaments are exciting to many and those with some skill in crafting join your sect.

> gained 139 untrained scavvies

>Having successfully recruited a large number of new fertilites, Samuel assigns his Noice apprentices 10 to 11 apprentices of there own saying "you now know as much as I when we first came together all those months ago. It is now your time to teach and counsel students of your own.
This month of recruitment is also one dedicated to training. Under your training organization where each trained member looks after and trains about 13 of the newcomer’s skill grows swiftly with each new member getting the attention they need. Your trained apprentices also get some skill in training others through this.

>>4086741
>Upon seeing the broken manufactory Angel decided to dedicate his efforts towards it. Surely the tunnels will have some scrap that could be used to repair the machinery
Through the month you and your follower go through the difficult effort of restoring the machines to working condition. It takes them the entire month to tear open the machine discover which ones are working which are not and find working versions of the broken parts. By the end of it you are sure it is in working condition the only thing you need now is power. As all power has been cut off by the upper hivers for as long as you remember. The only source of power would be battery packs, your best bet would be trades that somehow have access to the lower hive.

> Rusted out industrial manufactory room -> Repaired industrial manufactory room.

Mark would have asked Joshua how it should be built so that it can be a proper infirmary.
With your large group of untrained scavvies you take to the task of clearing out another floor. With your numbers and the construction tools it does not take much time, you then spend the rest of the month building it into an infirmary. While very little medical knowledge and tools exist down here you do your best to build it based on the memories of Joshua seeing an hospital in the mid hive. You build separating each need into different wards and making it as sanitary as possible. As well you make the entrance to the areas sealed so that no disease can spread from one ward to another.

>Gained
> 1 floor setup as an infirmary (can handle 80 people at once)

As your flock begins living normally after the great battle that occurred you get a message that the other gang the The Ivory Wolves bordering the Flayed vulture wanted to send you thanks. It seems with it they sent you a package with a fruit rarely seen down here, an orange. They also report they killed any of the vultures that escaped in their direction.

After the terror that was the deamonette, how it twisted the alliance of your friends and allies you know you need to strengthen the faith and harden the resolve of the warriors in the church. You Speak to many of the warriors in groups and alone about their faith and what they saw there. How they can grow to be stronger in spirit to prevent such horrors from happening again. You have little skill in oration but the warriors appreciate the chance to talk about their shortcomings and the horrors they have seen, to be reassured that their faith in god will protect them so long as they hold firm.

>> Expand existing farm plots.

The next objective for your church is to expand the farm plots to the size of the original and set it up with the bracing, lighting, and improved irrigation system. Throughout the week flock were split into teams and dug out each of the farms while the newly trained engineers improved the irrigation system and set up the pillars to brace the caves. by the end of the week all of the farms meet the same standard, all thats left for them is to wait for the mushrooms to grow

> 6 Mushroom Farms (irrigated, Fertilized, braced, lit) (0.64/1.8 weeks)

> Continue to train the priests in training.

knowing that it would be a very long task to purify all the weapons yourself you continue training the priests. This time you go over the Consecration rituals and continue with their ability to read. It will take many weeks before they are fully trained but for now they should be able to assist you in consecrating the weapons faster.

Hearing the complaints of your followers, you have them dig out as many rooms as they can in the various living spaces and then set them up as dorms. You quickly discover that you do not have enough construction tools to go around over 1000 people so work in many places is slowed. Yes,

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.

How could you tell?

will trade for good melee weaponry
5 melee for 1 week
Will buy the mastercrafted auto pistol for 2 weeks
Will buy the heavy stubber for 3 weeks

You can also sell any weapons or armor you want to mark as sellable at the market. You currently have one scavvie trained in trading who would be selling it for you.

Looking at this map, we've got 2 points of uncontested expansion: that path just east of the "t" in Christ or the path down below. Expanding though both of these is almost certainly advisable just for the potential to get more mushroom farms and secure additional hab-blocks.

Ok. Food is our number one issue. We got way more people in a sudden influx than we can really handle which is putting serious strain on our resources. However, we have the capacity to alleviate a bit of the strain. In the Underhive, one thing is extremely fucking common.

Do you know what that thing is?

Fucking. Vermin.

Rats in particular.

Rats can survive and thrive off of damn near anything organic, breed fast, grow fast and can be reasonably nutritious. We could delegate our craftsmen to making some pens with overlapping mesh too small for rats to crawl through, breeding them by the thousands to feed our growing flock.
>>
>>4088263
Been phone posting for years my dude. Heavily enjoying this one.
>>
>>4088368
those rats are going to need food to eat, we can start rat farming once we have a monthly food surplus
>>
>>4088374
>>4088368
We could set out large-scale trapping operations? We certainly have the manufacturing capability to make traps.
>>
>>4088379
yeah, we can trap them, but if we aren't breeding more of them we will over hunt them.
>>
>>4088374
The rats don’t have to eat the same food as us. That’s why I put emphasis on damn near anything organic. Food scraps, organic waste, so on and so forth. Whatever we CANT eat, the rats most likely can
>>
>>4088386
>Over hunt rats

My nig
>>
>>4088386
If the Caustic Cleavers are what I think they are, we'll get lots of rats from there.

Speaking of which, we should develop some sort of commandment for saying Grace or some other sort of meal blessing/purification ritual before eating.
>>
>>4088394
what we feed our meat animals matters there is a reason we have food standards for cows.

>>4088396
We aren't talking about a gang that owns a block setting traps for rats to eat, we are talking about the largest more organized force this underhive has seen. I do think it is a concern that we should prepare for instead of laughing it off.

>>4088397
does the bible say that we need to pray before every meal or was that just a thing Christian started doing and it stuck?

just a random thought here, but Joshua is Eli for anyone that has seen Book of Eli and we missed an amazing chance for a reference when naming him.
>>
>>4088368

Could actually work. But again, with the Caustic Cleavers and my suspicions about them...

Well, in real life, rats, at least, domesticated ones, tend to keep rather clean from what I hear. But given the presence of the Plaguefather...

It could be potentially risky... But like you said, it could be very worth it to have access to all that meat. Which would be a welcome change of pace from eating mushrooms all the time.
>>
>>4088406
Not sure, but it's a logical thing to do for people who are deeply religious and whose lives center a lot around food and basic survival.

That and my and >>4088407 's suspicions about the Caustic Cleavers being potential Nurgilites make me want to just implement that to prevent food-based Chaos Bullshit like slipping us rats with Nurgle's Rot.
>>
>>4088406
While we shouldn’t go to great lengths to feed them literal garbage but this is the Underhive, I’m assuming a majority of the population has cancer of the everything and some sort of incest related congenital birth defect. A little bit of nasty rat will probably be a improvement to their diet.
>>
>>4088412
Good point, I will get behind this then.

>>4088414
true, but still the first step to improving the underhive is making our food better
>>
>>4088424
How about we phrase it like this:
"Start building some pens to raise rats in for food. We can feed them off of our waste food."
>>
>>4088438
thank is a great Idea
>>
>>4088450
After all, there's always *SOME* sort of waste in preparing food, whether it's bits that get cut off because they're not good for humans to eat or spoilage or just plain accidentally burning something.

>Expand out the unfinished farm plots

Continuing the work on gaining sustainability of food. You have your flock expand out and finish the four plots they dug out last week. They are getting used to this work so it finishes faster and better then before.
> 4 unfinished mushroom farms (irrigated, Fertilized,) (0.11/0.7 weeks) -> 4 mushroom farms (irrigated, Fertilized, braced, lit, cooled) (0.23/1.2 weeks)

You decide after the jumpy nature of the Violent rats that they must suspect or fear you. It seems reasonable as you have grown in size many times over in the last 2 months alone and you now are far larger than them. Wishing not to have your purchasable food supply broken before you have your own supply finished you decide you need to either convert them or stabilize your relationship with them.

>With so many mouths to feed Samuel Brown instructs his Soilites to take their fertilites and improve and expand the farms.

Being trained engineers Samuel finds that it is easy for his Solites to direct the Fertilites in expanding the farms. With their knowledge in supports and they tools they use all of the farms are expanded farther than previously thought doable, using properly supported beams each step of the way. As well as the irrigation system in the cave gets larger and larger it seems the area gets more humid. By the end of the month each of the 10 farms are expanded as far as you trust the ceiling to hold with your skill and materials.

>expanded 10 mushroom farms (1.41/3 weeks) - > 10 large mushroom farms (1.41/4.5 weeks)

personal action
>Take time to improve literacy by learning from Joshua and reading the bible with him.
Samuel Brown spends this month working with Joshua directly to finish his literacy training. Each day Joshua has Samuel work on a different passage of the bible trying to decipher the words and find its meaning, when he is stuck Joshua explains the words its meaning and why its written the way it is. When training the other priests Joshua has Samuel join in and help those less trained then him on words. By the end of the month you are fully literate, while not as good as someone who has spent their life reading you will become more comfortable with time.

>Gained Full literacy
>Gained Knowledge of the Bible (You have studied it intensively)
>>
>>4088080

>Mark shall train the men and sisters of the hammers in the basics of crafting and construction. With so many it will not be an easy task to train them, hopefully they will all understand it.

Throughout the month you train your 100 followers in construction and crafting. With this many it is difficult to properly train each of them and keep watch to see if they are learning it properly. By the end of the month only the more gifted are trained and you gained some skill in managing an exceptionally large class.

>Upgraded 40 untrained scavvies -> 40 Basic engineer scavvies
>Gained Basic teaching skill

>Mark will train himself in becoming a better warrior with melee weapons. Next time he would have learned something from Joshua, he would have in return further help the priest in learning to be skilled with a sword.

You train through the entire month with the best the church has to offer in warriors. While none are overtly more skilled then you, your dedication to your training gave you much insight in combat. Remembering how that daemon moved like water and blows were as tough as steel, how you could do so little other than allow yourself to get stabbed in place of Joseph fills you with purpose to become stronger. By the end of the month your skills are improved and you are the greatest melee warrior the church has.

>Angel will train the newblood in the ways of the scavenging

Knowing more scouts and survivalists will be necessary to the church, Angel trains his 20 new apprentices in the way of scavenging. Setting up trials and challenges intended to teach them skill they quickly learn. By the end of the month they all have earned some basic ability in it.

>Upgraded 20 faithful Scavvies > basic survivalist scavvies
>Gained basic training skill
I swear I already gave this to you but I guess you get it again as its not on your sheet

>the rest of the Samaritans will look for another access to the upper hive

You send the other 10 trained in survival and scouting to look for another path to the upper hive. With all the new territory available, it quickly becomes apparent that no path upward is available in your owned land without having to dig one yourself. The path the Fire Razors have to the west of the Ivory Wolves is still open, while north of the Caustic cleavers there appears to be another exit held by the Vipers. Nothing is found in the area unclaimed other than the bodies of the dead.

>unarmed
>Assure them that you are in no way hostile

You head to the base of the Violent Rats unarmed wearing the roughly crafted priests garb your people made for you. Without any weapons or armor this is intended to be a sign of faith and trust. You tell the guards that you seek audience with their leader and after some moments you are brought to him. You speak to him of your concerns, that they may fear you expansion and that you have no intent on taking his land or sovereignty from him. "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."Matthew 22:39

As you speak with the leader you come to understand his issues. You have grown almost fifteen fold in two months and you are perhaps the largest force in the underhive now, to overwhelm his group would be an easy matter. Alongside this he admits he spoke to someone topside about you and your church but assures you it was nothing bad. By the end of the conversation you have an alliance formed and appreciates the ability to defend his territory better, many are jealous to have an access higher In the hive and its difficult at times to defend from them.

researched rat farming apparently it has a very high feed conversion ratio making it quite efficient

>Start building some pens to raise rats in for food. We can feed them off of our cooking waste.

One of your flock come up with the idea of rat farming, instead of just killing them as we find them for food, we can hold them all in one area feed them with the parts of mushrooms we don't want to eat and then harvest them. This seems to be a excellent idea to add more meat into your flocks diet. You send out your followers to hunt and capture rats while others prepare a room to hold them. It is difficult for your followers to capture them as they are swift and the cleaned tunnels have a much smaller population of them, but eventually a about a dozen are captured. In the meantime those working on making the room work on the old torture room of the Flayed Vultures now clear of any taint. They create a iron door to hold the rats in and make waist high walls to hold them in throughout the room. They try their best to make the scrap smooth on the inside to prevent them from climbing out. By the end of the week the rats are moved into the room and given some of the mushroom ends to eat, they seem to take to it well enough and there were only a few near escape attempts.

>Go do some diplomacy with the Ivory Wolves.

Gathering allies is always a wise idea, with the Flayed Vultures it may have saved you. These Ivory Wolves seem amicable enough, they sent you an orange in thanks for defeating a shared enemy. Now it may be time to return the favor and solidify whatever relationship you have with them.

Knowing that it is only a matter of time until conflict once again fills the tunnels you expand out your barricades. The flock tears down the old ones used in the conflict with the Flayed Vultures and moves them forward to the new borders with the Ivory wolves and Caustic Cleavers, also shoring up the two other exits to your territory just in case. After the week is over all exits are properly barricaded to the same level as your original barricades.

> 1 Passable Armor

Reciprocating the gift the ivory wolves gave you is next on your mind. Knowing an alliance would be best for both of you, you take one of the better armors and weapons your people have made making a decent combo. You travel to the now fortified border with a few guards, you see that their end is fortified as well with a few guards posted. You speak to them asking to meet their leader and after a few minutes you are brought to him with your guards waiting outside. As you travel through their territory you see that it is more clean then most gangers tunnels and that the gangers are well armed with guns mostly stub rifles. You meet the leader in a proto throne room. A Lean individual in leathers sits upon a throne made of scraps, his face is scarred to where any facial features are gone. He beckons you before him “Come. I hope you liked the fruit, It is a difficult thing to get down here.”

An alliance was easy to create and he is happy to allow his men to join your services. He takes some grapes on a platter next to him and eats as he sees you go.

It has been several months since the church has been improved and your population has grown several fold. Now that food is stabilizing it is time to expand it to meet the needs of your people. Throughout the week walls are torn down roofs and floors ripped up and the first floor of the hab block expanded significantly. It now takes up parts of the tunnels and collapsed buildings around it tripling the size of the old church. As well the Dias is remolded with better materials and made larger while the pews are significantly expanded upon. By the end of the week more work could be done but the space is significantly grown.
