>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

Everyone moves back a bit as there is pounding on the door. You’ve but a moment before the Pirates might be able to break through. Aveli looks to you and asks, “T, what’s the plan? We let ‘em in and start wailing away on those punks, of do you have a trap you wanna set for them?”

“No time for anything complicated.” Sheik warns. “Whatever plan you have, you need to enact it quickly.” Samiel nods, hand moving to his blade.

All right Zelda, no idea how many of them are on the other side, but from the sound of things it definitely isn’t a small amount. What to do…?

“Spread out! Ranged weapons on that door and bombs at the ready!” you call to your allies. They take their positions, the pirates about to get through the door. You and Samiel get your bombs out, Horon keeping closer to the walls as Sheik stands beside the two of you, Lynna with her Gale Boomerang out. Aveli keeps back, ready to defend you. Here it goes…

The barrier around the door dissipates and in charges several pirates, two at a time at first. Horon attempts to fling fireballs towards them, but quickly they leap out of the way and slash back at him with Sword Beams. He takes a hit and has to back away. You and Samiel quickly fling bombs forward them, where the monsters jumped to, damaging them, with you quickly bringing your crossbow out and launching a couple volleys at them. Lynna’s Gale Boomerang then comes in and knocks the pair back into another two that attempt to enter through the doorway. Sheik adds to this by tossing several needles at them, keeping the pirates back.

[Bombs: 7/10]

[Bolts: 80/90]

And yet… even with all this, they don’t go down all that easily. The pair that were forced back get right back on their feet, and seem to laugh to themselves when they see Samiel. They try to move in again, and behind them you can see four more, a total of six of these monsters. The two trying to make it through bring their arms up defensively, as if they’d be able to shield themselves with them, as the pair behind them… start to cast Magic! Oh no! Samiel looks like he’s about to charge at them all directly.

>A. Assist the Knight! Tackle through them!
>B. Bombs again! Keep them pinned to the doorway!
>C. Crossbow! Fire off another couple rounds!
>D. Din’s Fire on the pair casting Magic!

Horon tries to get back up, but one of the monsters sees his prone state and launches the Magic they were casting. Thinking quick, Samiel uses his Hookshot to grab and pull the boy out of danger, then gets ready to charge forward. You look to the Knight and comment, “Allow me to help.” You enchant some bombs with Ice Magic and fling them forward, freezing the monsters in place temporarily. Samiel charges and tackles through them, Aveli actually running behind him and wildly swinging her sword at the monsters.

Lynna heads over to Horon to check his wounds as you next cast Din’s Fire and detonate it in the middle of the monsters, catching them all with the blaze of fire. And to top it off, you use Farore’s Wind to move behind all the pirates and use your Hookshot to target and pull back one of the ones in the front as it tries to stand, then drawing your swords to slash at the pair immediately in front of you. Sheik heads in for a pincer attack, with all of you cornering the pirates in the doorway.

[Bombs: 5/10]
[Magic: 0/5]

And… yet they still seem mostly nonplussed by all that’s going on. They still keep their focus on Samiel, laughing to themselves as they brandish their blades, ready to fight still. Aveli, standing beside Sheik, comments, “You punks just don’t know when to give up, do you?!”

The pirates laugh at the comment. Even Samiel finds this a little odd given his body language.

Right as one lifts his blade, you take aim with your Hookshot and fire it at his sword hand, managing to yank it hard back just right so that the blade smacks into the face of one of his allies. And in doing so, the second one falls, with the first one losing his sword! …And the blade caught by the Hookshot, is pulled back to you, smacking you in the forehead with the pommel. Ow.

The pirates laugh at you, but quickly move back to combat stances, quickly trying to fan out and attack back. The one missing the sword starts to cast Magic, but Horon bolts and leaps at him, jumping into the air and stabbing down into his head, finally bringing the monster down. Samiel works with you as the two of you slash and parry the monsters’ blades, and though one of them manages to hit Samiel’s free hand, he quickly runs his blade through it, and actually fires a Sword Beam right through the monster into another. You work in tandem with him and bring both your blades down on the pirate, stabbing through the gaps in his armor and finally felling it.

Sheik, Aveli, and Horon all try to bring the final monster down with you and Samiel, the lot of you putting a good deal of effort into it, and the pirate still holding his own, even getting a slash in on your arm. But that provides the chance needed for you and Samiel to finally bring it down, your two blades slashing into the monster’s legs as Samiel manages to stab it through the chest. Finally, it’s over.

[Hearts: 9/11]

You take a knee and pant, planting one of your swords into the ground as you take a moment to catch your breath. Horon and Aveli both sit down, Sheik rushing to your side as Lynna starts checking over everyone. “That… was a pain in the ass…” the Gerudo girl exclaims. “Y-you okay, T?”

“I have been through worse… Horon?” you ask the boy.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m good.” he comments. “Samiel, be honest, are these typical of what those monsters are capable of?”

All of you look to the knight. He nods. Horon lets out a pained groan. Lynna reaches you. “Do you need any healing, Termina?”

“We should all recover while we still can.” you tell her with a nod. “But also, search through the remnants, there may be something useful leftover from the monsters.” you add, first letting Lynna heal you then going over the spoils. A decent number of Rupees, some more of the small bombs you’ve seen before, and luckily, plenty of materials to restore your own Magic.

And your allies thankfully manage to restock a bit too. Horon makes note, though, “These things were way tougher than they look. They just wouldn’t go down.”

“They kept laughing at Samiel.” Aveli comments. “There a reason for that, buddy?”

Samiel crosses his arms and seems to look down at her disapprovingly. Sheik motions to her hand, seeming to ask if he would like her to relay anything he has to say. Samiel considers it, but shakes his head. Sheik instead looks to you, “There still may be more headed this way, though we should have enough time to complete the other puzzles in this place. Still, shall we continue on, Termina, or finish up here?”

“If you can take point, we may be able to finish up here with our minds at ease.” you tell her. “You have an advantage over the rest of us, not being easily caught by them.

“Very well.” Sheik gives you a nod. To your surprise, Samiel signals he’ll stay watch with her.

“All right, thank you, Sir Knight. Oh, before we head on, would you like your sword enchanted with Ice Magic, like my bombs were?” you question.

Even with his face hidden behind the mask, you can tell he is giving you a less than amused look. You’re about to return the favor when he draws his blade and points it out towards the open clouds. He flicks his wrist with the blade out, a chilly air and soft glow emanating from it. For good measure, he fires off a Sword Beam that chills the air as it fires, even leaving a little trail of snowflakes behind it.

“Oh yeah right.” Horon adds. “You can do that on your own.”

The Knight pokes you on the forehead and then motions for you to continue on. You blush just a little, but continue onward without further comment. “Let us go through the final room, that has not been explored yet.”

Aveli and Horon nod, Lynna using the Gale Boomerang once more to shift the symbol on the floor until it reaches the final room. As you all enter the chamber, you see a set of small circular platforms that… don’t seem to quite have a pattern to them up above. The room is circular, and at the top there is a little bit of light peaking through. Actual light, not artificial. You see tracks on the walls where the platforms are, save for one at the very top. And lastly, there’s the cart in the center of it with the bomb slot. There is one close enough to the ground that you can reach it without Hookshot, at the very least.

“Want me to light it up, Pr- ah, T?” Horon asks, then adds, “It’s okay to call you that, yeah? While we’re still with Sir Samiel.”

“I been callin’ her that for a while now, haven’t heard much complaining.” Aveli notes.

>A. For now, though we will let our Knightly friend know once this is over
>B. Better we start coming clean soon, after we find what’s up there at least

“For now. Once this is all over though, we should make sure our Knightly friend knows the truth.” you reply to him, then give a grin. “Now, light it up, Horon!”

“Lightin’ it up!” he yells out, tossing a fireball at the bomb slot. The platforms around the chamber begin to move, some quicker than the others, and they seem to form a kind of pattern in how they move, some overlapping for a few moments. The one closest to the ground approaches.

“Last one up top is a rotten egg!~” Aveli yells out excitedly, leaping onto the first platform. You get on it next, followed by Lynna. The Gerudo girl turns and smirks. “Well Lynna, looks like you might wanna pick up the pa-”

“Games later, when we’re not under threat from the pirate monsters.” she tells the younger girl.

“Let’s keep going, next one is- yikes!” You just barely manage to leap up to the next one, Aveli and Lynna doing the same. You take a moment to regain your composure, the next one coming your way. “So, they alternate direction between levels when someone gets on top of one. Something we should have picked up on sooner.”

“Lesson learned at least.” Lynna helps you up. “Next one’s coming!” she shouts out, heading up first, Aveli following. You try to leap to the next one, but misjudge a bit and only end up barely grabbing on to the side of it, your legs kicking underneath as you pull yourself up. Crap. And… next one already? Oh come on! Up, Zelda, up! You just barely get up before it starts to move past. You leap up… and miss. No no no gah!

“Gotcha!” Lynna catches your arm, Aveli grabbing on to her and the two of them pulling you back up. “Whew, close one.”

You sigh and nod. “Indeed. That could have been a nasty fall.”

“Almost there, come on!” Lynna tells you cheerfully, the three of you heading up one more level… and finally reaching the very top of the chamber. With the final platform, and a chest right in the center of it, Lynna reaching the chest first. And so, she opens it… “Whaaa…?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0

The young woman pulls out… a curious pair of long boots, with wings on the edges of them, a symbol of Lightning on the sides. There’s a note in the chest beneath them, reading, in clear Hylian: “Congrats on making it all the way up here, Hero of this time! Hope these [Pegasus Boots] serve you as well as they did me!”

I'll say again, any romance will have to be more of a slow-burn thing and will depend on player choice. So far, players haven't decided to pursue anyone. It's entirely possible this will continue and Zelda will not be romantically involved with anyone. I promise I'm not going to push for any kind of pairing with Zelda.

Also has 4chan been acting up for anyone else? Been getting connection errors when I try to post, almost at random.

“That’s fair.” Aveli responds, stretching her arms a little. “This is kinda his home turf.”

“Then I’ll hold on to them until we meet back with him.” Lynna remarks.

“Heading down?” Horon shouts up at all of you.

“Yeah, light it up, Horon!” Aveli shouts back, and the lot of you head back down, finding it easier to get down than it was to get up. Once you’ve all regrouped, Horon expresses curiosity over the boots, and especially the note that was with them.

“So they belonged to a previous Hero?” the boy questions.

“That does seem to be the implication of it.” you reply. “Though I am not sure if it was ours…”

“We should check with the final room fist. Lynna, if you’d please?” You turn to her and give a kind smile. She brings out the Gale Boomerang and spins the symbol on the floor once more, and finally you reach the last room. This one seems to be more of a corkscrew, with a path spiraling up from the center. But as you all enter, you see sections of the floor that seem to spark with electricity, with jolts even traveling between them, the sections marked by metal gratings of a kind. Moving a bit closer, you see joints on the gratings, seems they can move.

“Huh, no wonder Sammy had such a tough time with this one. One wrong step, it’ll conduct with that armor.” Aveli makes note. “…Speaking of, seems like I’d better sit this one out.” she remarks as she looks over her own armor.

“Is that how it works?” Lynna asks her, genuinely unsure. “Was under the assumption it’d go through without causing much harm…”

“If you’re moving around it a lot, your body’s going to be pressing against the metal.” she responds. “Even a little bit of it, you’ll get zapped, and that’s not going to be fun.”

Horon cracks his knuckles. “I should be able to handle this then. Pattern seems pretty predictable. Want me to see what’s up top?”

“See what the bomb slot in the middle of the room there does first.” you recommend. Horon tosses a fireball at it, and you see that the grates that the electricity sparks between begin to move, shifting upward along the sides of the path, forming gaps between them. Meanwhile, a strong bolt of electricity jolts up from the cart, flowing continuously, letting out jolts that hit the grates, but seem blocked by them. Aha! You place your hands on your hips and turn to the boy, “Why not race up there? See which of us can reach it first.”

“Well, if you’re sure, Pr- er, Termina.” Horon replies. “Buuuut I’ll probably win it.” he adds with confidence.

“We’ll see about that.” you tell him with a confident smirk yourself, and the two of you head off, running up the winding path. The gaps are noticeable and a little tough to get through, but a good leap is enough to cross each one. Worringly the electricity sparking from the central bolt does seem to crash against the grates, but you and Horon both manage to avoid any stray sparks from the electricity crashing against the grates. As the two of you travel up, with Horon actually keeping pace with you fairly well, you see a bit of a pattern from the lifted grates. They line up in… that same Lightning Bolt pattern from before, making two of them that alternate direction. The pair of you just barely manage to reach the top, and in an attempt to get ahead of him you push your hand on the final grate as you reach the other side. It does give you quite a jolt but you manage to win!

...Ow that didn’t feel good. Hand’s kinda numb. “Aww…” Horon mumbles as he reaches the top after you. And just in time too, as the grates fall back into place. Up top, there’s another bomb slot… and yet one more Kinstone! Looks like it’s the other half to the one you got before! You take it and put the pieces together, the two Kinstones fitting perfectly… making a spiraling, tornado-like pattern. Curious. Horon looks over the bomb slot, then asks, “Well, ready to head back down?”

“Horon, recall the room adjacent to this one and the pair of bomb slots used there. We should time the bombs so they hit together.” you tell him.

“Oh yeah! Good thinking!” He adjusts his gloves, readying himself. “On three?”

“Aveli, Lynna, move back a bit!” you warn, then bring out a bomb. “One!”

“Two!”

“Three!” you let the bomb down, Horon tossing the fireball. And as his hits, you tense up. Please work, please work… yes! The explosion manages to trigger the bomb slot, and immediately the electricity stops. The grates return to their normal position, but without the sparks of energy traveling between them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZltmhbcJ0TU

“Nice work!” Horon raises his hand for a high-five.

“Nice work indeed!” you high-five him, the pair of you heading back down. Okay, Kinstone complete, Pegasus Boots acquired, you’re set to continue on! Time to meet back up with Samiel and Sheik and get through the rest of the Great Sky Temple!

You regroup with Samiel, who’d been waiting right outside the door, Sheik dropping down as you all exit, catching everyone up on what you’ve learned. Samiel… very briefly glances away and huffs when you and Horon go over how easy the last room was for the two of you, but quickly regains his composure. Finally, you bring up the Pegasus Boots, and ask Samiel for advice on who best would be served by them.

The Knight takes a moment to look over the boots. “I mean you seem to have something yourself, but if you wanna take ‘em-” Horon starts, but is shushed by a raise of Samiel’s hand. He glances at you, then at Sheik, then back at the boots. Finally, the Knight motions for Sheik to come closer, and writes on her hand once more.

“Samiel says… that they would go best with either you, Termina, or… myself.” Sheik speaks for the Knight. “I… leave it to you to make that decision.” the Sheikah girl says, bowing her head humbly.

“Sheik, you would be able to use it best.” you tell her with a friendly smile. “Samiel, thank you for that. Shall we continue?”

He nods, and leads the way. You cross through the flame trap, finding the jets damaged beyond repair, impact marks on them like the one the Chuchus apparently arrived on. That is… not comforting. Samiel notices it too, motioning everyone to hurry. Arriving back up top, you see two levels to the area, connected but splitting in the directions they head. One goes further to the… well, if the position of the sun in the sky is any indication, west. The other heads up north, and further up the temple grounds, higher into the air.

There are several Chuchus that you see moving around in the distance, Beamos firing at them and trying to get rid of them. In addition, out of the corner of your eye you see a flash of thunder and soon hear the crack of thunder, several Aeralfos falling out of the sky in the distance.

“We should avoid the monsters for now, but head west. Come on!” you declare, running forward, getting your shield out, and very briefly sticking your tongue at the monsters that fall, trying not to make it too obvious to your allies (keyword being “trying”). Samiel keeps pace with you, slashing away as some of the Chuchus attempt to corner you, with you managing to bounce one off a couple when they leap at you. You’re about to reach a winding path away from the central area, one of the Beamos that were attacking the Chuchus targets you, beam just narrowly missing your body but almost catching your leg.

To your surprise, Samiel prevents you from being damaged by… rather roughly grabbing you by waist and shoulder and… sort of flinging you forward onto the path. You faceplant in the dirt near the stone path, but at least you avoid damage. Samiel himself ends up awkwardly stumbling out of the way as well, just barely avoiding the Beamos that tried to hit you.

Sheik and Aveli arrive shortly after, carrying Lynna and Horon respectively through the mass of enemies in conflict. Samiel dusts himself off, then checks up on you, Aveli trying not to giggle as you bring your face up out of the dirt. “Well, no injuries? We all good?” she asks.

“Your method of helping people is not the most gentle, Samiel.” you remark, getting the dirt out of your face and frowning at him. “The assist was appreciated, but the method could use… work.” He pats you on the head and moves forward. “So does that mean you understand, and will work to be a bit less rough in the future, of you understand that, but don’t care?”

Samiel chuckles teasingly. As you get to the end of the path, you see a stadium of some sort below it, with two tiers of it, a smaller set connected to a larger one, a spiraling staircase leading from the top level down to the bottom. And you… hear some ominous voices in the distance. Samiel’s fists clench tight. Aveli lets out a groan. “MORE of those pirate guys?”

You motion for everyone to lay low, slowly approaching the group of monsters. You take a peek and find them with some other creatures, with limbs coated in electricity, in addition to a few that have more crustacean-like forms, with large pincer arms. A total of seven, two you’ve seen before, three of the crustacean ones, and two of the electric ones. They’re moving something very large, some kind of cylinder with unusually carved patterns on it, even rings of some form of metallic surface around the edges. And… there seems to be some form of magic being built up around it.

“Definitely not good.” Horon comments. “What’s the plan, T?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9MMV0tGydo

“I will call out Zas to divert their attention.” You move back and stand, calling forth the Phantom Knight, then sending him forward. “Samiel, I need you to-” But before you can ask him anything, the Knight has already jumped down with Zas. “H-hey!” You quickly run to the edge, seeing the monsters back away from him as he fires a Sword Beam, the monsters surprised by his appearance… and in a haunting, gargling tone of speaking, one yells out the word “HUNTER!” in what sounds close enough to Hylian for you to understand it. Roars and near-demonic speech echo through the area, allowing Zas to get the drop on them and cleave the arm off one of the crustacean-like monsters. Even in spite of that, though, they focus on Samiel, with the crustacean monsters letting out volleys of energy from their claws, as the pirates wielding blades try to close in.

Zas still fights with one, forcing its attention on him, and even managing to bring it down, though not before getting cornered and hit by the pair of electrically coated monsters. He’s damaged and forced back. Sheik, using the new Pegasus Boots on her, dashes off the ledge and even manages a few steps in midair, her feet coated with sparks that form small thunderclouds beneath them, finally leaping up and then kicking down at one of the pirates that tries to attack Samiel like a bolt of lightning herself! While the kick to the pirate’s head connects, knocking him down, the other monsters don’t let up, one even managing to jump and kick Sheik in the arm, the Sheikah girl moving back to Samiel.

Aveli and Horon finally join in, the pair of them coming up with an idea. With the boy sitting on her shoulders, the little Iron Knuckle heads down as well and uses the Belt of Wind to rush around the foes, Horon blasting away with fireballs at the monsters, the pair’s combo working exceptionally well as they disorient their foes.

Meanwhile, Lynna kneels by you, eyes fixed on the strange cylinder. “I… have a very, very bad feeling about that…”

“What do you propose, Lynna? Do you think it is some sort of weapon?” you ask.

She shakes her head, to your surprise. “Not exactly a weapon. But… there’s something that feels off about it, and yet familiar. I don’t like it.”

You take a look at it once more. Magical energy builds up around it. You do notice something a little unusual, the two ends of the cylinder have a very slight gap between the metal bits. Hrmn. Should you have Zas go after it, or attack it yourself while he’s keeping the monsters busy with everyone? Or leave it be and just focus on the Pirates?

>Bolts:
Samiel makes another slash at the monsters gathering around him, though the pirates are quick enough to avoid damage from the knight’s blade. Sheik however is able to move in and get a nasty gash in one of the monsters with her sword, adding to it with a kick from the Pegasus Boots into its leg. Zas meanwhile ends up cornered and, even with Aveli and Horon trying to keep up their attacks, is overwhelmed by the monsters. His ghostly presence fades… but you’ve got an opening.

With most of the monsters away from the cylinder, you quickly bring out a pair of bombs and fling them right at it, the bombs connecting and letting out thunderous booms! The cylinder sparks and shakes. One more should do it! The pirates turn their attention to you, the crab-like ones blasting magical energies from up at you. Even if it isn’t a weapon, it’s doing SOMETHING… and you’ve got an idea! “Lynna, cover me while I head down!” you ask, getting your hookshot out. She readies her Gale Boomerang and flings it out, with it managing to push back some of the monsters towards the back, though not before they launch out some more volleys at your allies, Sheik actually getting Samiel out of the way of harm as one nearly hits the Knight. You manage to latch on to the cylinder and head down, avoiding their shots, though as the Gale Boomerang travels back to Lynna, one of them manages to shoot at it, keeping it from returning to her hand. But you’ve managed to get down, and the force of you impacting against the cylinder pushes it towards the gathered pirates. And…

KA-KOOM!

One of the bolts of lightning that aimed at the Aeralfos previously ends up striking the cylinder, and thanks to the damage you did to it, the electricity isn’t harmlessly absorbed into it, as was probably the intention, but chains into the monsters! With one of them still stunned, you draw your swords and slash at the pirate! …Only for the monster to not be quite as stunned as he appeared, managing to block your blades and push you back, growling at you. He takes a step back and then lunges, attempting to skewer you with the large sword! But, you recall the training you had with Linkle, and in a flash you’ve deflected his sword with your Royal Sword and stab into his chest with the Sword of Nayru. The pirate stutters, looking down at you, letting out a low growl as he’s finally felled… though also giving Samiel a barking laugh as he falls.

Who, by the way, ends up right beside you as one more of the monsters tries to attack you, slashing through its torso, the monster falling. Sheik likewise works with Horon and Aveli to mop up the remaining monsters, all of them finally slain. You find yourself falling back, sitting down and sighing out loudly. “That was a close one.”

“So what in the world was THAT?!” Horon exclaims, getting off Aveli’s shoulders and looking over the remains of the cylinder.

“Some kind of lightning rod.” Lynna calls out. “Using some sort of magic to draw the lightning bolts to it. Good thing you were able to destroy it, Termina.”

Sheik lets out a soft gasp. “That’s their plan. They want to invade en mass by preventing the lightning from striking them all down.”

After taking a moment to catch your breath, you stand once more. “Then we will stop them. Right, Samiel?”

The Knight gives an approving nod, and a thumb’s up. Good enough for you!

Magic lightning rods, that's interesting. Had fun Kato, thanks for running!

Maybe forge it on a crown for agility training and unlock a person's speed potential.

I know it sounds silly but I think it has potential.

That is not how it works. Though you may be able to check up on it again in more detail later.

Also a bit of an update IRL. I'm still working, but things may change in the next few days. Lot of places are starting to close up, and wife's on leave until the end of the month. Had to talk with employees earlier about this too, so my apologies for being a bit over an hour late home. It shouldn't have too much impact on the Quests, but I just want you all to be aware that there is a chance it might. Hope y'all are staying safe too.

Anyway, rambling over, we are back!

>>4142515
Before you head forward, you take a moment to look over the remains of the broken lightning rod. There are actually a number of layers to it, the curved patterns still unusual to your eyes, but more importantly there seems to be a central, metallic structure that snapped from the repeated bombing, similar in the rings around the edges. Lynna observes it too, tapping her chin. “It’s like some over in town. They keep keep the buildings safe when storms roll in. But… those are usually very tall, taller than the buildings that surround them.”

“I’d suspect that the magic has something to do with it.” Sheik speculates. “Magic lightning, magic lightning rod to attract it.”

Ahead there is another barrier-covered door, though there is a rocky path to the east, and another to the south that seems connected to another floating island via a bridge of clouds. Where to go first?

You check over the remains of the monsters, managing to just barely restock on Bombs completely, while also getting a few of your spent bolts back. And to top it all off, a few Rupees.

[Bombs: 10/10]
[Bolts: 80/90]
[Rupees: 190]

Samiel manages to find some stuff to recover his strength, as Aveli picks up some Rupees herself, Lynna retrieving the Gale Boomerang, whispering a polite apology to it. With everyone set, you continue on to the door with the barrier around it, Samiel firing a sword beam at it to open it. You head in and see a much more narrow room, almost a hallway, though with sections of it leading into small alcoves where natural light peaks through. As you start to move through the area… you hear something in one of the alcoves. Samiel recognizes the sound, and you think you’ve heard before.

The Knight places his hand back as he steps in front of you all, flicking his wrist with his sword drawn, frigid air flowing around his sword as it glows softly.

Samiel knows how to handle these things, so best not to get too involved, but… you have an idea! “Lynna, get the Gale Boomerang out.” you tell her. As Samiel moves forward, successfully stabbing into one of the jellyfish-like monsters you’ve seen previously as it tries to lunge at him. Without a moment to lose, you enchant Lynna’s Gale Boomerang with Ice Magic, then have her fling it forward!

And not a moment too soon, as several more start to float out from the alcoves, trying to surround Samiel. The frigid air around the boomerang hits like a snowy flurry, striking five of the six that appear before returning to Lynna’s hand. Samiel wastes no time, using a Spin Attack to fell the group of them. But, one final monster takes notice of you all, and comes flying at your group, shrieking and leaping at your allies. You’re able to bring up your shield in time to defend yourself, but the force of the monster’s tackle knocks you back, Sheik likewise managing to avoid the monster’s maw but knocked down by it as it bounces off your shield. Horon and Aveli both back up, the boy readying his gloves as the Gerudo girl holds her sword defensively. Lynna though is able to quickly thwack it with her boomerang, stopping it in midair.

Samiel brings an end to it with a Sword Beam, moving to help Sheik up first, then you. Somehow… you don’t think that’s the last you’ll see of them in this area.

Regaining your composure, you ask, “Samiel, can you tell us more about these monsters? What would have happened if they managed to successfully attack Sheik or myself? …Would it be possible to get them to attack the pirates?”

Samiel signals for Sheik to so he can respond, and starts writing… quite a bit. Sheik shivers a slight bit from how rapidly Samiel seems to be writing. Once done, Sheik speaks for the Knight. “They attack by latching on and draining victims, and can attack nearly everything they come across save each other. Even the pirates would fall to them, but they’d know well enough to stay out of these creatures’ way. Lastly…” Sheik looks to Samiel again. The Knight nods. “They are called ‘Komaytos.’”

“Komaytos, huh?” Lynna repeats. “Looks like that bit of teamwork there was a real life-saver, then.”

You laugh softly in a near hum-like tone. “Indeed. Speaking of, Lynna, you handled yourself very well there. You managed to hit all five of those monsters with a single throw, and had no hesitation in trying to stop that monster that tried to attack us.”

She smiles sweetly. “The boomerang’s fairy should get some credit for that, but… thank you. Still not really used to all this, but, I want to help however I can.”

“Hey, you ARE doing really well. Don’t sell yourself short.” Aveli tells her.

As you all move forward, you check over the little alcoves the monsters were residing in. Inside… you see some rather gruesome sights. A couple small animals that look like they were mummified, one seeming almost cat-like, another a small bird. But as you approach the door at the end of the hallway, you see there’s more light leaking out of it from the adjacent alcove. As you look in, you see that part of it is… caved in. You motion for Samiel to look, and as he does you walk in with him. Within part of the caved in section, you see something that looks like the… husk of one of these Komayto monsters.

“I thought you said they don’t attack one another?” you question the Knight.

Without even looking away, he pulls Sheik over and writes on her hand. The Sheikah girl looks to you. “He says they don’t. This is… different.”

Whatever is going on with those monsters, you’ll have to be extra prepared for them. You Give Samiel a nod and continue on to the next room. It’s a much wider, broad yet Y-shaped one, with a staircase leading down a bit into it. Around the room there are a set of pillars that are a little distant from one another, but lead up a ways to a broader, main pillar.

Beamos dot the areas above the pillars, while odd machines like the mix between Keese and beetles float between them, large pincers in front of their faces. The machines seem to be of a similar structure to the Beamos, at the very least. Worryingly though, you see one of the Beamos damaged, and below it on the floor, a few of the flying machines, broken and… looking almost drained, somehow. The split, Y-shaped path lead to two sealed doors, though above one you can see what looks like a tunnel bored through the ceiling, leaving a pillar of light shining through it.

“That’s not encouraging.” Aveli remarks.

“Nnnnnope.” Horon affirms. “Well. Where to next?”

“Wherever that thing has gone, we should make an attempt to follow.” you respond to the two of them. “Samiel?”

The Knight leads you forward, opening up the door to the next room. You find it in tatters, what were once pillars and statues, toppled. Even a bird statue like you’d seen before fallen over… with another pillar of light above it. Moving in closer, you see something moving in the rubble.

Samiel has his blade ready, all of you behind him as he slowly moves forward. The thing in the rubble starts to come into view. It’s… an orb-like monster with large lips, sharp teeth, and some tentacles waving around the back. You see it chewing on something, what looks like another husk of something the Komaytos have drained. It… then laughs at Samiel haughtily, several more peeking out from the surrounding rubble, a total of eight.

Another voice laughs from above, a pirate. Near the top of one broken pillar, one looks over the monsters ominously… and in its free hand, you see a mask.

In a sudden jolt of movement you bring out your hookshot and fire it up towards the pirate. It… does not hit its target, the mask. It instead hits the arm of the pirate, catching on to some of its exoskeleton armor. Instead of the monster’s mask being pulled away, you’re instead yanked up at it. Before you can react you’ve been pulled towards the monster, with him swinging his arm as you’re pulled up and knocking you into the remains of the bird statue.

[Hearts: 10/11]

He then slashes across the area with his sword, forcing everyone back before they can try to attack him as well, then bringing the mask up to his face, laughing all the while. He… seems to say something to Samiel, though not in a language you understand. Its body then begins to bulge and twist horrifically, screams of pain accompanying it as it changes into a far more hideous form. Its sword seems to merge with its body as its hands turn into claws, filled with pulsing… “turrets” of some sort, multiple eyes in its hideously mixed face, gaining crustacean-like features. Finally it becomes so massive that the pillar it was on breaks and its body falls to the rubble pile underneath. And with you closest, it immediately decides to pick a fight with you, the pulsing, fleshy turrets in its claws lobbing sprays of bubbling black fluid in your general direction.

You thankfully move out of the way in time, recovering quickly, and try to get away from the monster’s reach. It closes in quickly though, the oversized claws of it trying to grab you by the waist. Thankfully you’re quick enough to slash at the fleshy turrets inside it, causing it to reel back, though some of the fluid from it splashes across your arm. You let out a yell of pain, the fluid like fire to your skin as it gets through some of your clothes. Thankfully you quickly roll across the ground to get it off, the dirt managing to neutralize it.

[Hearts: 8.5/11]

The other monsters attempt to attack your allies, attempting to ram them and spit little projectiles at them, Sheik and Aveli getting hit by some of the projectiles. Horon though calls everyone around him, then casting a spell, slamming his fist into the ground and letting out Din’s Fire in AOE formation to force the foes back. Samiel meanwhile regroups with you, the pair of you staring down the masked, mutated pirate.

You stand with Samiel, mind quickly hatching a plan. Lot of eyes on that thing’s face. Lot of… places that are pretty vulnerable. Aha! “Samiel, cover eyes!” you shout out, flinging a Deku Nut at the pirate’s face, blinding it. It roars and swings its claws wildly, thankfully ending up smashing into the rubble. Samiel flicks his wrist again, though instead of a frigid air falling from it, intense heat radiates from the sword. He holds it back as the monster continues to swing wildly, building up magical power around the blade, and once it’s ready, releasing a Sword Beam with intense heat around it. It connects and eats into the armor on the monster, singing some of the cursed, exposed flesh.

You leap back and toss a bomb at the monster as it continues to howl in pain, hitting where Samiel connected his attack and blasting a chunk of flesh out of it. The monster does seem to notice where you are and tries to unleash a spray out another jet of fluid, still managing to damage you but with you prepared for it, just a bit getting on your leg. And it lets you fling one more Deku Nut at it, blinding it again right as it starts to regain sight, one more bomb at the already damaged area. Sheik then rushes at it, running across some of the rubble and leaping up into the air, kicking the wound like a bolt of lightning. She flips back, narrowly avoiding a swipe from its claws and spray of fluid from the damaged one, Samiel finally firing one more charged, blazing Sword Beam into the wound, this one passing right through the beast’s body. It roars out horrifically as its body falls with a loud THUD, finally brought down.

Meanwhile, Horon and Aveli continue to fight off the other foes, the floating beasts alternating between trying to batter the pair and spitting more projectiles at them. Aveli struggles to hold off the pair of assaults, but Horon keeps the worst away from her, even igniting one of his shields and smashing it into the maw of one of the monsters to allow Aveli a chance to slash it down. Finally, as you, Samiel, and Sheik bring down the mutated pirate, Aveli and Horon finish up the others.

[Hearts: 7.5/10]
[Deku Nuts: 6]
[Bombs: 8/10]

You let out an exhausted sigh. “This… this is not going to get any easier, is it?”

Samiel seems to sigh as well, shaking his head before walking over to the rapidly decaying remains of the mutated pirate monster. Its body shrivels up and finally seems to seep into the ground, leaving behind only the mask it had… which snaps in two, the magic in it spent. Lynna rushes over to look at your wounds. “We really need to start being careful about this going forward…” She comments, looking over where you were hit. “Mm… not anything critical, but tell me if you start to feel any pain.”

Horon proudly brings over the Kinstone, Samiel looking over the remains of the broken mask the pirate placed on its face. Sheik checks the area over again, finding more of the shed husk that the monsters were chewing on. It… seems like one of those Komaytos, though altered strangely, as if growing insect-like appendages and carapace.

“It seems to have left already.” Sheik comments. “And… has changed again.”

Samiel looks around the area quietly, taking note of some of the ruined parts of it, before letting out a loud sigh. Horon glances up at him, a bit confused. “Is that thing really that bad? Like, come on, you’ve handled yourself pretty well with these things already.”

Lynna gives the Knight a soft frown. “…Do you feel we are not ready?”

Samiel looks in her direction but neither shakes nor nods his head. He… just sighs again. The Knight starts to move back out the door, Sheik looking to you.

“Samiel, listen, I am not going to pretend that there is no danger continuing on, but all of us are aware of the risks, because all of us are here for a reason.” you tell the Knight, marching along with him. “Even if there are greater dangers to it, we will not be deterred. We will complete the trials of this Temple, and gain the power to protect our home.” You look at the Knight with stern, earnest, and sincere eyes.

Samiel looks down at you… and though you can’t quite see the Knight’s eyes, they seem to return what you express. Samiel hesitates, but eventually gives a soft nod, walking forward… and motioning you to follow. You smile, Lynna by your side as you leave the tattered room. She does mention, though, “I’m serious about if you feel any continued pain, though. Tell me immediately.”

“I shall. Though I am fine, I promise.” You do give a glance back to where the defeated monsters were. What spoils that were there have been gathered already, and sadly none would help you recover health. As you head back into the Y-shaped room, you look up at Samiel once more. “It may be important to share what we know about our respective foes, given that they have decided to ally with one another somehow. Shall I inform you of the masked beasts we have fought before?”

Samiel nods, and so you begin explaining all that you’ve seen so far. The Mask of Truth embedded in a Skulltula, the Deku Wolfos, the Zora hybrid and Zora-eel, the Dodongoron, the entranced young Gerudo lady, even the merchant, all of your allies adding to the explanations you give. Samiel stands patiently as he listens. Finally, once he’s caught up to speed, Sheik translates for him. You learn that these “pirates” are not beings native to this land… perhaps not even native to this world, serving what Samiel seems to describe (or at least, Sheik tries her best to translate to) as demons and dragons of darkness, beings of wicked minds from the deep below the earth. The pirates themselves are haughty, violent, yet strangely clever in their own, twisted way, displaying a tendency to adapt and experiment, even at the cost of lives of their own. Many of the forces allied with the pirates are similar groups of monsters, though not all with the same goals.

The one exception being the Komaytos, which Samiel makes note to state they are “halfway between weapon and animal.” They are among the things the pirates have stolen, rather than allied with or created, and even they do not seem to be from the underworld that the leaders of the pirates hail from. When Aveli jokingly asks if they came from space… Samiel gives a less than comforting shrug. He does affirm he has dealt with an “infestation” of them before, though from the body language he displays you can tell there’s a sense of remorse, or at least sadness, in that.

With all of you caught up to speed, the next question comes: try the pillars of the current room, or head into the room you haven’t been through yet?

You look up at the pillars around the room. “So. Anyone want to give this a try with me?”

Lynna hums a happy little tune and steps forward. “Do you really have to ask?”

You laugh softly. “I guess I did not. Be careful of the Beamos, though.”

Samiel makes a grunt, then writes on Sheik’s hand. “Our ally says to be careful of the machines flying around them too.” the Sheikah girl speaks for him.

“Certainly. Lynna?” You get ready to head up the first pillar, Hookshot out. She nods, doing the same, and so the two of you head up the first pair of pillars. The Beamos take note of you two, but you’ve already moved to the next pillar as they fire. And then, the next one. It starts to get close, but you think quickly, calling out, “Lynna, shield your eyes!”

With her eyes covered, you fling a Deku Nut up at the Beamos, blinding them all. You swear you hear a quick, but approving laugh from Samiel, who even fires a Sword Beam up at one of the machines that inches close to Lynna. Didn’t really need it, but it was a nice gesture. Finally the pair of you reach the final pillar, opening it up… and finding an unusual object inside. A ceramic tablet, with a kind of glass across it.

You head down with Lynna, Samiel giving an approving nod. “What is it, exactly?” you ask.

The Knight writes in Sheik’s hand, and to the girl’s surprise, she responds. “A… map.”

All right folks, that’s all for tonight. We’ll continue tomorrow starting ~3:30 pm PST. I’ll be around for a bit for questions and such. Did y’all have fun?

Also looks like my work’s finally having to close for a while as well, so wife and I have a few things we will be doing earlier in the day. I have some calls to make tomorrow, but I should still be able to run on time if everything goes well. Sorry tonight was so short, I will try to make it up for tomorrow.

Delaying until 5:30, I'm so sorry. I've had to call a lot of employees and a couple assistant managers about the situation and wife and I had to make a quick run for some groceries before that. Hopefully no other surprises today. Thank you all for your patience. Stay safe, everyone.

You look over the tablet again, Samiel walking over. He brushes his hand over the object and it… suddenly lights up. Magical energies seem to flow over it as a map appears in the glass. You stare at it, dumbfounded. “H-how…?”

“Magic, obviously.” Horon remarks like it explains everything. You partially know that it DOES, but nonetheless you’re still curious of it.

You take the time to look over the map. It… is definitely not like the ones you have seen before. You also notice that the ceramic surrounding the glass is quite a bit more dense than you were expecting. Interesting.

>A. This is helpful, but we should head on to the next room

Taking a moment to look over the map, you find that you can sort of… zoom in on it, even scroll it around as your finger taps against the glass. You see a small, blinking dot at a certain area. It’s one of the disconnected sections of the map… ah, the Y-shaped room you’re in. You’re right in the center of it. Wait… “It tracks your movement?” you question.

Samiel writes something on Sheik’s hand, and she replies for him, “The map self-locates, displaying a real-time location of it at all times, when active.”

“Fancy.” Horon comments. “Might be useful having maps like that in Hyrule proper.”

Your eyes scan the map, seeing several places closer to the highest point of the Temple. You also have one more room to explore, so might as well give it a look. That said, you hand the map tablet to Lynna. “Can you hold on to this? For safekeeping, that is.”

“Sure, Termina.” she replies with a nod, carefully taking hold of it, though giving a little investigation of it herself.

You head into the other room, finding it thankfully more intact. Curiously, this one has a few of the floating beetle-keese machines overhead, and… several suits of strangely armored statues. Ones that seem to be wearing armor similar to Samiel’s golden suit of it. In the back, there is a bird statue similar to the ones you’ve seen before. You also feel… a strange warmth come from your sword. Sheik and Horon notice it too.

>A. Draw your blade, see what that’s about
>B. Investigate the statues with armor
>C. Keep an eye on the machines, something fishy about them
>D. Head forward to the bird statue

You draw your sword and move forward cautiously, Sheik and Horon doing the same. Three of the statues’ eyes light up, and as you move forward, one with glowing blue eyes does too. Samiel moves to the side, leaning against a wall as he watches you. Several tiles on the floor begin to light up. You stand still, then move your sword. The statue follows. Aha!

Sheik and Horon approach, Aveli recalling this from the Temple of Time. “Now that’s interesting. Why do you have something like this, up here?” she questions.

Samiel actually doesn’t respond, merely raising a finger to tell her to wait. As Sheik and Horon move forward, you notice there is a final statue that hasn’t moved yet. Hrmn.

“Everyone, match the tiles with the statues. Aveli, you think you can push that last one over?” you ask her.

The Gerudo girl cracks her knuckles, the sound echoing through her armor just a bit. “I can give it a shot!”

“Perfect! Now, let’s do this!” You command the statue to move forward with your sword, placing it nearest to the bird statue. Sheik follows after you, moving hers to one of the glowing spots, placed a bit further from the first one. A glowing line then connects the two. Horon moves his next, though to your surprise it doesn’t form a triangle like you thought. More of a V-shape… yet… hrmn. Aveli finally is able to push the last one down, but seems confused as to where it should go.

“Uhh… no tile is lighting up.” she comments. “T? Ideas?”

You look over the pattern the statues make. V-shaped, yet, one section is shorter than the other. Almost like… wait, aha! Of course! “Aveli, match the pattern. Place it over here.” you tell her, moving to where it should go. She pushes it along, and your assumption proves correct! The line connects, and it makes the same lightning bolt pattern from before.

The bird statue raises up slightly, revealing… the other half of the Kinstone! Perfect! Seems you’ve finally gotten all you need from this level. Just have to head back up to the next one. You’ll be done with this temple soon!
