/qst/ - Quests

Welcome back to Kamen Rider Chronicles! You play as Reiko Yukihara, Genius Pro Gamer, bearer of the Gamer Driver and Bugster. You defend the streets of Seito City and are slowly working to bring Bugster and Humans together in order to finally put an end to Chronicle once and for all.

In our last thread, you decided to start a mass media announcement of Gemn Corp’s true goals in order to focus their attention on the city and you to allow Revol, the minister of health planted by Gemn Corp, and his friend Yui to escape and live in peace. During the announcement, the building is assaulted by various monsters led by none other than Hiiro Kagami, genius surgeon and your boyfriend. Meanwhile, Parado drives Yui to the train station for her extraction only to be intercepted by a zombified Motors.

>Last game we finished up Kuroto’s PoV of the assault. Who do you want to follow next?
>Reiko and Asuna as they deal with a minion monster among the reporters?
>Graphite as he deals with a 3v1 at the front of the building?
>Parado as he attempts to navigate Motor’s race track and get Yui to her extraction point?

“Look out!”

Yui screams and holds on tightly as Parado leans to the side and narrowly avoids a white hot chain. The chain strikes the ground and leaves a small gouge and burn mark on the road. Almost immediately, Parado is forced to twist the handlebars in the other direction, narrowly dodging a set of spikes that jut out of the ground!

“What’s going on?” Yui wails as she looks around at the digitized city. Parado pushes the bike harder as they speed down the road.

“Motors is a bugster. The only way to stop him is to finish his race!” He shouts weaving between two cars. “Sometimes we simply fight them, other times we have to do other objectives. Something is wrong...just like last time…”

“Can you win?” Yui wimpers.

“I have to.” Parado replies taking a sharp turn into another alleyway. Motors' bikes can be heard out on the street along with the sounds of screams and metal crunching. Judging by the fact the motorbike is still heard, it was safe to say Motors simply crashed through a car to be as efficient as possible in his chase. “Ramp!” Yui screams and Parado’s attention snaps back to the path in front of them.

The bike hits the ramp and is launched into the air as it suddenly speeds up from the ramp’s hidden boost pad. Parado struggles to keep the bike balanced as it hits the ground and zooms forward down the main road once more. From the corner of his eye, he can see metal flying out form a street as Motors turns the corner and follows after you.

>How you do proceed?
>Attempt to out speed Motors. The faster you can end the race the sooner Yui is safe. Just hope she can hold on.
>Drive smart like you did before. You narrow alleys, ramps, and other obstacles to try and slow Motors or cut him off from his chase.
>Transform using Emu’s gear and fight Motors off his bike. It’ll offer you protection and if you can knock your opponent off his bike, it’ll buy you some precious seconds to gain some distance between the two of you but you’ll place Yui in melee range as well.

“Hold on tight.” Parado says as he begins to speed up and hit another ramp. Their bike soars through the air and lands on the sidewalk, behind a bus stop bench. Parado quickly hits the breaks and twists the handlebars as they land, throwing the bike into a drift and using the momentum to angle the bike into another narrow road between buildings. The sound of glass shattering rings out as Motors simply crashes through the bus stop.

“Why is he doing this?!” Yui shouts trying to cling onto you harder than she already was. “I thought you guys were working together!”

“Long story short, Cronus changed him somehow.” Parado shouts. “If you pay attention he’s just taking the shortest routes to get to us. Being the most efficient and direct. It’s like he’s just some kind of robot. He’s not even doing it for the love of the race like he normally would.” Parado sideswipes a trash can, knocking it down in the vain hope that it would slow down Motors before hitting another boost pad and dashing between two cars. The trash can is run over as Motors simply crashes through it. The cars are less fortunate as Motors fires one of his missiles into the back tire causing the car to spin out of control and crash into the one besides it. Unfortunately this causes the road to become blocked, forcing Motors to drive into oncoming traffic. Despite his tendency to drive through anything, even Motors is forced to avoid a collision to avoid the chance of falling off his bike or worse losing ground from multiple impacts slowing him down. Even so, a clear distance between the two bikes is made as the two begin to get away.

Parado tries to maneuver into another alleyway to buy some more time. However, their path is barred as a wall begins to form between both buildings preventing them from entering. The bike screeches as Parado hits the brakes and tries for another alleyway only for that path to become walled up as well.

“Looks like our plan has run its course.” Parado mutters, pushing the bike to full throttle, avoiding another swing of the molten hot chain and sharing the fate of the nearby fire extinguisher. “Still got a ways to go too.”
>>
>Looks like even in their zombified state, the bugsters can still adapt and learn. What do you do now?
>Try and speed through the race track. Nothing fancy just a straight contest of speed.
>You can’t use alleyways or smaller roads to cut off Motors but you can still throw obstacles in his path. Continue to drive between cars and around city property in an attempt to gain more distance.

“Well if we can’t out maneuver him. Then we’ll just beat him at his own game.” Parado says out loud as he once again pushes his bike to go as fast as possible. Everything around the two blurs as the bike picks up more and more speed. Yui’s shouts of anxiety and worry are lost in the deafening roar of the wind and its further drowned out once the bike hits a chain of boost pads. Motors snaps from lane to lane as if magnetized trying to keep up and matching all the same boost pads as the two but his larger and heavier bike can’t keep up with the smaller, lighter one. The sheer size of it makes it hit with more wind resistance forcing it to work harder just to try and match his opponents.

It takes every ounce of focus and a thorough abuse of his superhuman bugster reflexes for Parado to maintain control of his bike. It rattles and shakes violently as the poor shock absorbers do their very best to keep steady. Once Motors becomes a small figure in the bike’s rear view mirrors, he resorts to other tactics to try and slow down Parado and Yui. Spikes once again begin to thrust from out of the ground forcing Parado to avoid them. The bike snakes from left to right as the slightest turn on the handlebar sends the bike rocketing to one side forcing Parado to constantly adjust it. The sight of him rapidly twisting the handles left and right would have been comical if it wasn’t for the threat of instant death.

“Idon’twannadieIdon’twannadieIdon’twannadieIdon’twanna- MISSILE!” Yui screams as she looks behind her and the roar of said missile draws closer.

Parado makes a choking noise as Yui’s arms begin to squeeze the hair out of him and he quickly hits another ramp. The two of them are flung into the air, momentarily safe as the missile was nowhere near as agile and it simply crashes into the ramp and detonates.

“DOES THIS THING HAVE A PARACHUTE?!” Yui screams in panic. Parado decides it was best not to answer. It seems like Motors had lost track of them because almost immediately several missiles fly out of the city into the sky in a vain attempt to hit them via sheer numbers.

Explosions paint the sky in bright orange then stain it with the remaining grey of smoke all around the two before they begin to descend once more. By some miracle they hit a landing ramp and the poor bike manages to keep together. The duo make their way towards the trains station, now only a few miles away but it seems like their troubles were not just over.

On the road were two more bugsters. One wearing a white top hat, Salty a boss from Mighty Action X, and a robotics one with a large claw, Gatton from the robot fighting game Gekitotsu Robots. Both of them attempting to bar your way.

The bike screeches to a halt as Parado slams the breaks. “What are you doing?” Yui whimpers as you set the bike on its kickstand and dismount. Parado rolls his neck and hands his phone to Yui before pulling Mighty Action X out of his pocket.

“I’m staying here. You drive and don’t stop until you get to your train. I’ll make sure they don’t follow.” Parado replies. “Call me sister when you get there and let her know what’s going on. She’ll be able to send someone to back me up.”

Yui opens her mouth to argue but Parado activates the Gashat and shouts, “Just go!” before running towards the two monsters.

>Mighty Action X!
>Gashatto!

With a roar Parado jumps into action and Rider kicks Salty before dropping to his knees and sweeping Gatton off his feet. Yui kicks away the kickstand and zooms past the three. Salty sits up and waves his hands in the air before launching a bolt of lightning out forcing Parado into a roll to avoid that and the following bench that Gatton tore out of the ground and threw. Gatton follows up by tearing up a chunk of asphalt and aiming it at Yui and her bike.

“No!” Parado shouts and throws his weight against Gatton, shoulder checking him and throwing his aim off. The chunk of road flies off course and hits a window of a nearby store. Another bolt of electricity flies towards Parado, clipping his shoulder and knocking him to the ground. He scrambles to his feet and kicks the sitting Salty to the side.

Gatton grabs the Rider around the waist with his large claw and tries to lift him but Parado manages to kick the bugster away. Off in the distance the sound of Motors’ bike could be heard approaching.

>What do you do to hold everyone off?
>Just continue to fight both of them at the same time. If you focus on one only then the other might have enough time to escape and go after Yui.
>Focus on one and try to beat them down as quickly as possible before moving on to the next one.
>Try and set up some kind of blockade or trap to stop Motors when he gets here. Otherwise he’s liable to drive past you all.

“Shit!” Parado exclaims as he punches Gatton away before drawing his weapon. Gatton stumbles backwards before his body becomes rigid and he slowly straightens out. Parado bats the discarded bench with his hammer, knocking it back on the road. “Man if Reiko hears about this she’s never going to let me hear the end of it.” He mutters as she swaps from hammer mode to sword mode and slices down a nearby lightpost and kicks it towards the bugsters. The lamp hits Salty and falls to the ground next to the bench.

Ducking under some more asphalt that was thrown by Gatton, Parado continues his work and cuts down another lamp post from the opposite street and then moves onto the signal lights at the end of the block and piling them on to the blockade. Just as he was going for another object, the thing is smashed by a large chunk of what looks to be part of a building. Before Parado can react a bolt of lightning strikes him square in the back!

Parado falls and as he struggles to get up, notices that the two bugsters are dismantling the makeshift roadblock. “Hey!” He shouts and dashes towards the two to stop them. When he gets within a few feet, dozens of minions step out of the shadows, making their way towards Parado. They slowly attempt to surround him and up ahead Motors approaches.

>What do you do?
>Try to avoid the minions and stop Gatton and Salty from destroying your barricade.
>Take the minions down. They’ll only get in the way. The only option left to do is wait til Motors gets close and try to knock him off his bike.

Parado gets a running start and leaps over the herd of minions, kicking Gatton in the back of the head and slicing Salty down the middle making them both stagger back. Gatton is the first to get his bearings and turns to grab something from the pile to use as a weapon.

“No you don’t!” Parado shouts parrying Gatton’s claw hand and follows up with two more slashes to the chest. Salty crackles with electricity and launches another bolt but misses as Parado uses the momentum of his swing to spin around the bolt. The attack crashes into Gatton causing him to spark up and spasm as it’s robotic circuits short out and he falls to the ground, twitching.

“Sorry my friend but I’m sure you’d understand if you were in my position.” Parado mutters, taking a moment to glance at the robotic bugster. Salty moves forward, electricity surging through its body and arms outstretched towards the lone Rider. Parado also approaches the electrified bugster positioning himself between Salty and the barricade.

The monster follows it’s basic programming and strikes, unaware of Parado’s intent. Parado ducks and aims a swipe at Salty’s legs. The blade strikes the enemy behind the knee, causing him to fall forward and crash into the barricade now fully electrifying it. Just in time as Motors appears over the horizon and races towards you.

Like every other obstacle before, Motors crashes it’s bike into your barricade and blows it apart. However, the other previous obstacles didn’t have electricity surging through it and Motor’s heavily modified bike forms the perfect conductor for the electrical current. The lightning flows through the bike and into its rider. Motors’ body seizes which throws off his balance causing him to fall off his bike and his bike to fall and skid into a nearby building.

“Sorry…” Parado says again, turning to face the oncoming horde.

>What do you do next?
>Fight the horde. The boss monsters are currently incapacitated but not for long. Use this moment to thin the herd.
>Focus on Salty and Gatton. Their ranged attacks will be dangerous if you decide to fight other enemies in melee.
>Focus on Motors. You can’t defeat his game with a fight but you can keep him from chasing after Yui buying her time to finish the “race”.

Parado turns around and runs at Motors. The longer he could hold him down, the more time Yui would get to the train. He dashes through the group of minions using the path the bike carved as it crashed through the barricade. The minions all become alert and move in to surround Parado. They swing their fists and claw at him as they attempt to hold him and drag him down. “Let go!” He shouts, swinging his sword and hitting a few, only for them to be replaced by the ones behind them. Parado kicks one into a group of other minions only to be grabbed from behind. The others walk up and begin to punch him repeatedly, their punches stiff and lifeless but still with enough force to cause damage. Parado grunts as he struggles to get free and out of the corner of his eye he sees Motors getting to his feet and stiffly walking towards his bike, now half buried in rubble from the wall it crashed into.

“No! Hey! Let go!” Parado shouts as he struggles some more but more minions come over and hold him down. Motors grabs a handlebar of his bike and pulls it from under the rubble and swings his leg over the seat. “Come on!” He screams as another group grabs him and they slowly begin to submerge him in the swarm but not before he hears the sounds of a motorbike start up and drive away.

Parado struggles to break free, kicking and thrashing but to no avail. The amount of enemies hold him down by sheer numbers and the sounds of Motors’ bike slowly fade away in the distance.

“No!” Parado screams. “No! You’re letting him get away! You’re being used! Stop it!” But his cries are cut short as a large robotic monster looms over him wielding a streetlamp in its claw. It raises its arm into the air and brings it down with a loud “Crack” and for Parado, the world goes dark.

Ok going back to us and Asuna. For summary, Revol is currently giving an annoucement to every news outlet within the city denouncing Gemn Corp and providing proof of the true motives. Alright. Trying to keep the group calm and getting the minion out. Not the best of Rolls but it'll do gents.
>>
You watch in horror as the man slowly devolves back into a monster and lets out a scream. The reporters around you yell and run around in terror trying to get away. “Everyone! You need to remain calm!” You shout over the panic. “We’ll take care of this!” The reporters all huddle near Revol’s desk, no longer focusing on reporting but on the minion. However the cameras are still rolling so Revol continues to speak, albeit a bit nervously.

“I’m currently under attack by the very same corporation running the game. But I will not be deterred! You must know the truth! Everyone has a right to hear this!” He continues.

Asuna uses this opportunity to try and get the monster out of the room. She moves in to get the minion in a grapple but the monster raises a short sword and swings at her! Asuna hops backwards to avoid the blade and ducks under another swipe. She steps in during the windup and strikes the minion in the chest with her palm! The minion staggers backwards and before it can steady itself Asuna grabs it’s wrist and flips it over her shoulder.

The minion rolls with the impact and swings it’s sword as it recovers. Asuna tries to get out of the way but her professional attire limits her movements and the blade misses a lethal blow but still manages to nick her hip. She lets out a hiss in pain but powers through and thrusts her palm out once more. The attack connects and the minion hits the door. Asuna limps forward, blood trickling down her leg, grabs the minion, opens the door, and throws him out. She steps out of the room with him and closes the door behind her, leaving the knob wet with blood.

You grimace. Despite the amount of fighting you’ve done, the only blood you’ve ever seen spilled was yours and even then your mind was still hazy from massive blood loss. Seeing another living being bleed in front of you made you queasy and felt unreal.

Before you can go and help Asuna, you’re overwhelmed by several things happening at once. You hear something explode outside from behind the building, your phone begins to ring, and the sounds of fighting begin to ring out.

You shake yourself back to what’s happening now. Checking your phone you see that it’s Parado calling you. “Oh god. Please be some good news.” You mutter as your eyes quickly glance at the bloody door. Answering the phone, you can barely make out what is being said but you can tell it’s not your brother. The voice belongs to a woman, meaning that it could only be Yui. “Speak up! I can’t hear you over the wind!” You say trying to get through.

“It’s Parado! He got off the bike! He’s fighting tons of monsters! I think he needs help! We were being chased by some kind of monster on a motorcycle! There was all kinds of- Oh god! I- just please help!”

Your stomach drops and you feel even sicker. “Alright. Just...where are you at right now? I’ll try and send someone over. A few things are happening on our end and I’m trying to get it sorted out.” You say trying to hide the worry in your voice. “Just focus on getting to safety.”

Yui gives you a rough address of where Parado got off to fight. “Ok. Stay calm. Focus on getting to safety and don’t be afraid to hide if you feel like you can’t make it.” You repeat. “It’s ok if we don’t succeed today we’ll find another way.”

You hear Yui say something in agreement and hang up. You find yourself hugging yourself with your free arm and take a shaky breath as your chest tightens. He’ll be alright. He’ll be alright. you repeat to yourself in your head. He’s always getting out of worse things. Just gotta calm down.

---

The minion crashes into the wall of one of the cubicle and one of the workers looks out to see what’s going on. “GET OUT!” Asuna shouts as she limps over to the monster. “IT’S NOT SAFE HERE! RUN!” With a grunt, she stops and tears at the hem of her dress to make a makeshift bandage for her hip. It was messy and didn’t do much to keep the wound clean but it helped staunch the bleeding. The workers all see the minion getting to its feet and Asuna’s bloody figure before screaming and running towards the exits.

Asuna pulls out her driver and Gashat, “Henshin!” she shouts, transforming and engaging the minion once more. With the suit enhancing her abilities even more, she deftly dodges the monster’s sword as she starts up her chainblade. The two blades crash and sparks fly as Asuna parries another attack and looks around. There's too many people here. Gotta move this somewhere else. She thinks to herself.
>>
Thinking fast, Asuna slashes the minions wrist to disarm it and shoulder tackles it. She lifts the monster up and runs straight at a window, crashing through it! The two of them fall from the fourth floor into the alley behind the building. For a split second Asuna notices a giant crater and several walls that were partially destroyed, before she pushes away from the minion and adjusts her fall.

The minion crashes into the crater on its back and Asuna manages to land on her feet. She gasps and falls to one knee as she feels a tear in her wound.

“Christ! What are you people doing up there?” Kuroto shouts. “I thought we were supposed to keep the man safe!”

Asuna grunts and slowly gets to her feet. Ready to finish the fight.

Alright we're sending Poppy to back up Parado and Kuroto to cover Reiko. I'll just roll the rest of the dice. Wish i was available earlier to run the game. first two dice are one set, the last to are another.
>>
You hold your breath and speed dial Poppy. Even though her station was just outside of this room, something kept you from running out. “Chief? What’s going on? I just saw Asuna throw herself out a window with a minion in her arms?!”

“What?!” You shout back in surprise. “I...we were attacked!” You say gathering yourself. “Asuna took on the minion. It got a hit on her. She was bleeding pretty bad. I’ll take care of it.” You find yourself saying again as you feel the pressure mounting. “I need your help. You have to go back up Parado.” You say.

“What? What’s going on?” Poppy says. “I’m heading over to you right now.”

“No! Just head to this address!” You say reading out the location Yui gave you. “Yui said Parado got off the bike to fight off monsters. I think they were ambushed by more bugsters, one of those being Motors.”

“But you said you beat him! Can Cronus really bring back bugster this quickly? It’s been less than 24 hours.” Poppy replies and you can hear her slam the door behind her over the phone as she runs off.

“I did! Kiriya was there too. I don’t know what’s going on with that. Just head to that address and call me if you find anything. I’ll call Yui and see if…” You chew your lip. “If you need to forget about Parado and help her.”

“Reiko…” Poppy starts.

“Call me when you get there.” You say before hanging up. You’re not sure if you could hold together right now if someone decided to try and comfort you…

---

“Kuroto! Go help Reiko!” Asuna shouts blocking the minion’s arm with her wrist and following up with a volley of blaster fire at point blank range. ”There might be more minions in the conference room!” she adds. Kuroto looks at Asuna indignantly.

“Don’t order the Game Mas-”

“I SAID NOW KUROTO DAN! DON’T TALK BACK TO ME!” Asuna barks, violently hurling the minion into a wall. Something in her tone of voice causes Kuroto to wince and draw back instinctively.

“Yes, moth-” He says almost automatically before he catches himself. “Y-yes of course. I need to keep an eye on my protege.” He says weakly before slinking away, memories of someone once important in his life flashing in his maddened mind.

Asuna lets out a cry of frustration as the minion gets up and charges, swinging it’s blade down and anticipating it being blocked. Once the blade is stopped by Asuna’s weapon, it follows up with a stomp to her wounded leg. Asuna cries out in pain but rather than crumple and fall she thrusts out her hand at the minion’s throat grabbing it in a vice grip. “Alright, I think it’s time to end this.” She says bashing in the buttons on her weapon by repeatedly slamming the device into the minion’s face.

Kimewaza! DoReMiFa Critical Finish!
>>
The chain blade glows a violent purple as the weapon gathers energy. Asuna thrusts it deep into the minion’s abdomen and drags it straight up, slicing the monster into as the weapon discharges the stored energy in one massive slice!

As the monster explodes and begins to fade away into digital particles, Asuna staggers back a few steps before her injured leg gives out and she collapses on the ground.

“Not yet.” She pants as she struggles to get up and looks towards where the sounds of fighting were emanating from.

>Alright. Many of the groups are slowly coming back together so rather than asking what everyone does one by one again I’ll leave it to a vote. The new groups are.

“Haaaa!” Graphite roars as he raises his glaive to block all three attackers at once. Kaiden, Aranbura, and Brave all struggle to push down the bugster’s guard. “So you’ve decided to show your true colors.” Graphite grunts with a malicious grin. “Not that I care. Once this whole war was over, I was going to settle this with you. All you did was just push this encounter earlier.” He continues as he throws all three of his attackers off of him. He launches forward, slapping aside Kaiden’s blades and slicing into his gut. Graphite spins and thrusts his glaive behind him to stab Aranbura and stop him from casting a spell.

“How are you gonna explain it to the girl? You did promise her to wait until this was all over.” Graphite taunts. “Not that I care but at least it won’t be my ass that’s gonna get chewed out for not playing nice.” Brave doesn’t reply as they both duel in the parking lot. Their blades ring with every impact and Graphite’s glaive slowly becomes coated in a layer of frost from Brave’s ice sword.

“You talk too much.” Brave replies blocking an attack and punching Graphite pushing him back. Graphite rolls with the hit and turns to raise his weapon to block Kaiden and his dual katanas, leaving him wide open to an attack from Brave.

“STOP!” Asuna cries out as she half runs/ half limps towards the fight and fires her weapon to bar Brave from getting closer. She fires once more at Aranbura to keep him at bay as well and kicks Kaiden away from Graphite.

“Hiiro what are you doing?! Graphite is on our side remember?!” She shouts raising her weapon. “We’re a team! You said you wouldn’t fight Graphite anymore remember?”

“Save it.” Graphite says twirling his weapon. “He’s here to kill us all. We’re all here infesting this building according to him!” He shouts as he charges Brave once more. Brave raises his blade to block the attack. “All of us here are bugsters! This is his dream isn’t it?! A building full of monsters for him to cut down!”

Asuna opens her mouth to argue but stops when she notices Kaiden and Arabura robotically making their way towards her and Graphite. She raises her chain blade and gets ready for a fight.

Asuna watches Brave and Graphite duel. It was almost like something out of a fantasy film the way their weapons cut through the air and connected for a split second only to immediately separate and repeat the process. She could only imagine the blur of motion this would look like to a regular human. Shaking herself out of her reverie, Asuna runs to join Graphite in the fight. The two of them worked in sync to take on the experienced Rider. Asuna’s chainblade moved swiftly, striking high then low in a zig zag of attacks. Graphite worked hard to cover Asuna’s opening and would strike low when she struck high.

The combination attack pushed Brave on the defensive as he slowly backed up into the parking lot. His blade was a blur as it deflected all attacks but even then it seemed he was barely keeping up. Each parry seemed to come just a fraction of a second slower than the last until finally the two broke through.

Asuna’s blade slipped through and cut into Brave’s right shoulder. In reflex, Brave moved his sword to meet what could have been her second attack but it left his left side open. An opportunity Graphite took full advantage of. He stabs Brave in the stomach and follows up but sweeping him off his feet before attempting to stab at the ground.

Brave rolls out of the way and under a car just in time for his two cohorts to catch up. Aranbura unleashes a stream of icy wind from his staff forcing both Asuna and Graphite to leap over another car to take cover behind. The wind chills the metal, allowing the cold to be felt even through the two Riders’ armor and ice begins to form around the vehicles slowly freezing them to the ground.

“Careful!” Asuna says. “You could’ve really hurt him! What if he’s under some kind of mind control?”

“Oh you mean like our fellow bugsters out there? The ones we have no problems killing?” Graphite snaps back. “Besides he’s not holding back and neither should we. He chose his side. Now he deals with the consequences.”

“You’re impossible!” Asuna hisses back. “At the very least help me knock him out. If you want to play the war game then we can at least try to interrogate him.”

“No promises.” Graphite says jumping over the car to chase after Brave. Brave had made his way out from under the car he had ducked under and kicks it at full force. The car slides sideways, tearing the tires up and screeching towards Graphite as it threatens to crush him between the two vehicles.
>>
Graphite let’s out a dragon’s roar as his glaive ignites and he slices through the sliding car with one swing sending the two halves flying off in different directions. Through the flames, Asuna can see Brave pointing towards the building and the two bugsters turn, snapping their attention to the entrance as they begin to march off there.

“He’s trying to send them into the building!” Asuna shouts and she attempts to intercept them only to be stopped as Brave steps in front of her, blade raised.

“This isn’t you Hiiro! Even the old you wouldn’t put people in harm's way like this!” Asuna shouts. Brave remains quiet as he goes for a two handed stance and charges.

>Brave is sending Aranbura and Kaiden into the building! Presumably to go after Revol and the others. What do you do?
>Continue fighting Brave. He’s the biggest threat considering he can keep up with two of you and he has free will. Hopefully the bugsters will only go straight for your team and ignore civilians.
>Go after the bugsters. You need to protect your teammates. Brave might try to slip by you during this fight if your focus lapses but you can’t run the risk of people getting infected if they get into a fight with the rest of the crew.

Graphite looks from Brave to the two bugsters and back to Brave. He roars with frustration as he breathes fire into the sky and dashes towards the two bugsters. “Out of my way!” He shouts, shoving Brave aside and jumping in front of his old brothers in arms. “I got a job to do.” He says frustrated and engages them. Asuna swings at Brave having to fight him to maneuver around, her injured leg preventing her from jumping and running.

Kaiden swings his blades in the same pattern that Graphite and Asuna attacked, one swing high, one low but Graphite easily parries the attacks with his glaive’s reach. Each of the samurai bugster’s attacks were precise, the angle perfect, but they were predictable and basic as if preprogrammed.

Asuna pirouettes and throws herself into a roll to avoid Brave’s attack and get into rage of Aranbura. She uses the momentum of the roll to spin and attack the magician’s legs. The magician falls but doesn’t stop from casting his spell. The magic goes off creating a storm cloud above the group that launches lightning at Asuna and Graphite. The electricity strikes the two but Kaiden as well as his dual blades act as lightning rods.

Graphite stands his ground and roars in pain as he fights through it, swinging at his opponent and getting hit after hit in. He falls to one knee, leaning against his glaive for support, smoke rising from his body. Kaiden is thrown back from the force of the blows and lands in a heap a few feet away but slowly begins to rise, raising his upper body from the waist then getting to his feet.

Asuna screams in pain as she collapses on the ground from her kneeling position. Her body spasms as electricity arcs through her body and she struggles to keep her head up. Aranbura simply sits up and begins to cast another spell. Brave simply walks through the battlefield, unfazed, towards the door ignoring everything that is going on.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Graphite grunts, panting, as he gets to his feet. “I haven’t killed you yet.”

“Hiiro...Don’t do this. We’re your friends.” Asuna says getting unsteadily to her feet and placing her entire weight on one leg. She raises her weapon and charges a laser shot. “We all want the same thing. Remember what Reiko keeps saying? Bugsters and Humans can work together. I don’t know why you’re doing this but it doesn’t have to be like this.”

Hiiro stops in his tracks and visibly pauses. “Humans and bugsters working together…” He says quietly, contemplating it. His hands clench and he slowly raises his sword, placing both hands on the hilt. “To that...I say no thank you.” He concludes and charges Asuna.
>>
>What do the two fighters do?
>Have Graphite focus on Brave while Asuna fights the bugsters. They’re weaker than Brave and even in her injured state she could hopefully hold her own.
>Have Asuna handle Brave while Graphite takes on the two bugsters. He’s stronger than her and could fight them off faster. It wouldn’t be for too long just long enough that Brave doesn’t interfere.

Asuna lets her one good leg give away to the weight and rolls under Brave’s blade. As she rolls she fires off a volley of shots into Brave’s backside. Brave staggers under the attack and Graphite keeps up the pressure as he jumps in and cuts down his back with his glaive. Asuna’s roll ends with her exhausted on her side as she contacts Kuroto.

“I’m on my way!” He shouts into the phone. “You don’t have to check up on me!”

“We need you down here. Things have escalated.” Asuna replies, getting to her feet and tackling Aranbura to interrupt his spell casting. She hisses in pain as the maneuver causes her to land on her injured leg. “Brave is fighting us. He’s got two bugsters helping him.” She explains.

“WHAT?! He dares use my own devices against me?! Especially after I graced him with my cooperation?!” Kuroto shouts. “Give me a second...:” He mutters as you hear the sound of movement and people reacting. “Out of my way drone! The Game Master needs space! Henshin!”

Over the speakers and overhead the sound of glass shattering rings out. Asuna looks above her at the building to see Kuroto in his white and black armor jumping out of the 3rd story window. “HIIRO KAGAMI!” He screams in blind rage as he fires energy arrows from his bow. The bolts strike all three of the group’s opponents as Kuroto lands into a roll before hopping to his feet and engaging with Brave, his sickles swinging wildly.

“You dare?!” He shouts as he stops Brave’s sword by letting himself get hit in the shoulder and leaving Brave open for a counter attack. “After all our fighting and all our conflict you decide to side with the inferior programmer?! Have you seen how he reprograms bugsters?! No creativity! No passion!”

Brave staggers back under the flurry of attacks, Graphite attempts to get in some hits but Kuroto’s fighting style had him too close to his opponent to allow for any good openings. Instead he backs off and focuses on the two bugsters. He grabs Aranbura by the shoulders and tosses him into Kaiden before unleashing a blast of fire on the two. “Get inside.” He says. “You’re useless here with that leg of yours.”

Asuna grimaces but doesn’t argue the point as she gets to her feet and limp away back into the building. From the flames rise the two bugsters, Aranbura waves his staff to extinguish the dragonfire and they charge Graphite. The two monsters were no match for him as Graphite roars and swings his glaive down on the magician, now fighting recklessly knowing that Brave was being kept busy and he no longer had to worry about an injured partner. Aranbura raises it’s staff and casts some kind of defensive spell as he begins to glow with a reflective sheen but Graphite’s glaive simply smashes through the staff and shatters the effect. The staff smokes and sends off angry sparks from the points it was shattered in two and Graphite keeps up the offensive, slashing and stabbing at the monster as it tried desperately to defend itself.

Kaiden tries to attack Graphite’s open back but is met with stab as his opponent thrusts his glaive behind him. Graphite continues as he turns and swing downward with the other end then follows it up with an upward slash that the front end. Each attack was a large sweep that struck in front and back of him, forcing both bugsters to keep their distance. Without a staff Aranbura had to rely on longer more complex hand motions to cast his spells which were interrupted with every hit he took. Kaiden tried its best to fight back with it’s limited capacity for thinking but could only think to get close and swing. His swords were deadly but the glaive’s longer reach meant that he could not get close enough to make use of them.

In the end the fight became a simple pattern of the two bugsters looping through getting close and trying to attack only to get hit and knocked back by Graphite’s powerful swings. It was disheartening for Graphite to see two of his old comrades reduced to simple automatons but he set aside his emotions and focused on the task at hand. With one last shout of anger he impales Kaiden with his weapon and raises him above his head before bringing him down upon Aranbura’s head.

With both bugsters on the ground, Graphite ignites his glaive with dragon fire and brings it crashing down on the two with an explosion upon impact. Both monsters are obliterated leaving behind a large crater where they once stood. Graphite stares at the hole in disgust and howls into the sky, breathing fire in honor of his old friends.
>>
Meanwhile Kuroto and Brave dueled well into the parking lot again. “Give me back my things!” Kuroto shouts. “I hereby declare you an unregistered user! Return my property back at once!” Brave makes no response while he blocks the sickles with his sword. “Stop blocking and accept your punishment!” Kuroto shouts. He stabs both sickles into a car door and uses them for leverage to tear it off its hinges.

Using the door’s bigger surface area, Kuroto uses the door as a makeshift battering ram. He raises over his head and brings it down repeatedly upon Brave. The door strikes Brave twice before he raises his sword and slices the door down the middle. Kuroto pulls the door halves off his sickles and reengages the swordsman. Brave thrusts his hand out to unleash a wave of darkness at Kuroto. The wave flows over several cars, making them rust and decay on contact but Kuroto evades the attack by jumping over it.

“SURGEON!” Graphite’s voice rings out as he runs towards the two. “I will kill you for what you did to them!” Graphite brings his weapon down upon Brave but it’s blocked. As the two struggle for control of the fight Brave replies quietly.

“Not as fun as when you killed my girlfriend? I thought you enjoyed killing defenseless people.” Graphite howls in anger and his defense slips along with his temper allowing Brave to land two hits. Frost begins to weigh down Graphite but the bugster doesn’t seem to want to back down.

>How do Kuroto and Graphite approach the fight?
>Go on full offensive. It’s 2 against 1 so having to defend isnt’ a big of a priority.
>Try and coordinate with each other’s attacks. Both fighters’ emotions are running high so it won’t be so easy but it will give a good offense and defense.

“Grahh!” Graphite growls as he claws away at the frost. His weapon ignites once more and steam rises as the heat of the flames melts away at the ice. Kuroto hops on to the roof of a car and connects his sickles into a bow.

“You know, you managed to piss off the two angriest members of the team.” Kuroto cackles. “I have no idea how you thought this was a good idea. Did you think throwing two brainless automatons would somehow stop us?” He continues flipping off of the car and firing arrows at Brave. Brave ducks under one and deflects another with his sword but is slammed by Graphite as he rams his shoulder into the rider. Graphite picks up Brave and slams him once, twice, three times into the hood of the car before Brave manages to break free of his grip by kicking Graphite in the chin several times.

“You’ll regret using my friends like that Brave.” Graphite growls wiping blood from his mouth. “I thought even you had some shred of honor. A fight between the two of us. No one else. I guess you decided to sell that along with your dignity when you decided to side with Cronus. Fine. You can die like the scum you are!”

Graphite rushes down Brave with his flaming glaive while Brave swaps his sword to a flame blade to match the bugster’s element. The two weapons crash and explode as the flames feed into one another and grow in size every time the two connect. Tongues of flame leap out from every impact and start smaller fires on the floor, igniting any nearby flammable objects. Kuroto runs alongside the fight as the two progress, firing arrows into the duel forcing Brave to duck and dodge along with his parries and blocks forcing him into a full defense.
>>
He swaps from his two handed stance to a one handed one as he begins to block more and take the full impact of Graphite’s attacks onto his shoulder. He waves his free hand and it glows with a dark energy which he launches at Kuroto. The energy lances out from his hand and becomes needle like crystals as they fly through the air. Kuroto laughs madly as he ducks behind a concrete pillar, their fight having led them into a parking complex, and the crystal shots punch through the material as if it was paper. Kuroto leans out from his cover and fires a volley at Brave. The shots hit their mark as Brave is too busy trying to block the flurry of blows Graphite was dealing and the rider is sent flying into another concrete pillar. As Brave struggles to his feet, Graphite breathes another stream of fire that engulfs Brave. The fire roars out of control and threatens to fill the floor in deadly flames before it is smothered in a cloud of darkness. Brave steadies himself on his sword, panting, his armor scorched and cracked, before he too bursts into a cloud of darkness begins to fly away!

“You’re not getting away!” Graphite screams and begins to run out of the parking complex.

“Let him go.” Kuroto replies following Graphite. “We’re already going to get an earful from the girl once she hears about this and all the damage we caused. Besides we’ll see him again. Cronus won’t let this slide.”

“Just like that?” Graphite spits. “Just like that your anger wanes? What about your gear? What was all that about making him pay?”

“Of course I’m angry.” Kuroto replies frustrated at Graphite. “But look at the bigger picture! We’re scattered. We have one injured, two if you’re counting the unlicensed doctor, and we’re low on weaponry ourselves. You’re really going to chase him back to his base under prepared?”

“No.” Graphite says. “We can catch him before he gets there! We can make him pay!”

Kuroto throws his hands in the air. “Do what you want. I’m not gonna be responsible for explaining your actions to Reiko and Parado. You want to tell them how you got captured and turned into a brain dead zombie be my guest. And even if you do catch him? You gonna murder him? Didn’t you say you’d do it ‘her’ way?” Kuroto sighs. “Too many things to deal with. Just easier to play along for now.”

Graphite simply stares at Kuroto in disbelief as the two continue to run out of the parking complex. Kuroto doesn't seem to be slowing down or changing course but seems to be waiting for Graphite to make a decision as they run.

Graphite slows down and stops to glare at Kuroto. For a moment they stand there, not saying anything, tension in the air before Graphite screams in anger and punches at a nearby car. The door crumples like paper and glass is sprayed everywhere. “Call the girl.” Graphite growls as he undoes his transformation. “Tell her I need something to do. I’m not going to just sit around doing nothing.”

Kuroto follows suit and puts away his Driver giving Graphite a look. “When did I become your secretary?” He grumbles dialing Reiko and tossing Graphite the phone. The phone rings for a few moments before you answer.

“H-hello?” You say trying to keep your voice from cracking. Graphite grunts.

“We chased away the threat.” He says with barely concealed anger. “Got anything else you need doing?...Preferably not standing around?”

You sniffle and rub your nose. “Y-yeah…” You mumble. “Can you go check on Emu? I’m worried Gemn Corp might target the hospital if they figure out he wasn’t here.”

“Bodyguard duty. Got it.” Graphite grumbles and hangs up. He tosses the phone back to Kuroto. “I’m heading out. Got to do more babysitting.” He lets out an angry sigh. “I guess I’ll do a perimeter search or something.” He says walking off and taking the time to kick over a trash can in his way.

Meanwhile…

Poppy quickly navigates the roads in her car while keeping an eye out for Yui and Parado. The address she was given was rough, more of a general area than a specific street. She wanted to be back at the Department of Health to help with the current attack but the whole point was to get Yui to safety and it seemed that something had gone wrong. If Yui was captured then this whole thing would be for naught.

It wasn’t too difficult to find the area, the destruction and vandalism that occurred during the race made it simple enough to know that she was headed in the right direction. Further ahead, she sees a street completely empty of lamp posts and street lights but her investigation is interrupted as a large motorcycle zooms past her. It was large with too many exhaust pipes and flames shooting out of it, despite the amount of scorch marks. Motors, and no doubt going after Yui.

Complicating matters were two bugsters dragging an unconscious Parado away into an alleyway. Poppy bites her lip as she decides what to do.

>What do you do?
>Go after Motors. Reiko mentioned that Parado got off the bike to hold off the monsters so Motors must be going after Yui now.
>Help Parado. He’s defenseless and you don’t know where the enemy is taking him. You’re not sure if you’d be able to catch up with Motors if you stopped to help him though.

Poppy closes her eyes and frowns before gritting her teeth and shifting into reverse. “I’m sorry…” She whispers before opening her eyes and going in reverse at full speed and turning to follow motors. Swapping out of reverse she goes full speed after Motors but the size of her car making it difficult to keep up due to Motors snapping from lane to lane and avoiding traffic. Several cars honked at her angrily at time for making sharp cut offs but ultimately did nothing.

After a few blocks Motors tilts his head as if looking at the rearview mirrors of the bike before looking behind him and pushing a button on the small dash of the bike. Poppy twists the steering wheel sharply from left to right to avoid the myriad of small spiked orbs that fell out of the back of the bike. The orbs bounced and exploded when they came in contact with another object that wasn’t the road meaning that many other cars lost control and swerved out of the road or into each other. Poppy pushes down the accelerator even more in hopes of closing the gap and forcing Motors to use more close range attacks rather than put everyone else in danger.

After a few blocks, Poppy sees a familiar sight off in the distance. A yellow motorbike with a woman riding it, Yui. She seemed to be going at the speed limit but was also hunched over the bike, probably trying to maintain her balance at such a high speed. It seemed like Motors saw this too as he begins to speed up to try and catch up to her.

>What do you do?
>Attempt to outspeed Motors and block him off from catching Yui, possibly even catching up to Yui yourself.
>Try and push Motors off the road. Your car is wider than his bike but you’re not too sure how much of an advantage that is due to how heavily modified Motors’ bike is.

Poppy digs around her purse for her BugVisor driver, dodging a car as she does so. She ducks as Motors’ flaming chain whip collides with her car! The windshield shatters as the chain cuts through the roof of the car and the roof flies off. “Ooh...Asuna is going to be so mad at me…” Poppy mumbles as she finally grabs her driver and aims it at Motors. Motors ignores Poppy and simply tries to outrun her to catch up with Yui. The noise and chaos behind her, causes Yui to finally look behind her and scream. She freezes, unsure of what to do and unsure of how to process what is going on around her. Motors capitalizes on her hesitation and raises his chain whip once more.

Poppy fires, her shots each landing a clean hit on Motors’ chest causing him to buckle from the impact and lose control of his bike momentarily. He swerves, crashing into a mailbox and forcing him to drive into another street perpendicular to theirs, his own bike too big and heavy for him to make a full U turn at his current speed.

The current traffic begins to lighten up and Poppy speeds up hoping to use this as a chance to catch up to Yui only to see red and blue lights behind her. Several squad cars turn on their sirens and start to give chase as they approach the motorcycle and car.

>What do you do?
>Try to catch up to Yui and have her get in the car. Without the roof, it should be easy enough. Then it’d be a matter of losing the police.
>Try to lose the police. Maybe they’re only after you? After all you did fire shots at Motors and he has been causing havoc in the city. Maybe they don’t suspect Yui.
>Try and keep yourself between Yui and the police. Motors is sure to reappear and you want to be able to protect her as well as the police when he does.
>Drive off after Motors. If you can catch up to him you might be able to stall him long enough to let Yui get to her goal. Maybe the police will follow you.

Poppy speeds up a bit to keep her distance between her and the police. “Notgoodnotgoodnotgood!” She wails and motions at Yui to keep driving. The police honk their horns and blast their sirens.

“Stop the car! Pull over immediately!” They command. “Do it now!”

Poppy does her best to ignore the commands as she keeps an eye out for…

Crash

The sound of metal crushing metal and glass shattering explodes as Motors smashes through the front of a store, sending glass and mannequin limbs everywhere. He drives towards Poppy and the police slowly turning to adjust it’s path back towards following Yui. Poppy turns the steering wheel and attempts to ram her car into the bike as Motors is right next to her.

The car slams into the bike and much to Poppy’s surprise the bike stays upright. It was almost as if she had rammed into a wall. Motors ,however, does not ignore the attack and pulls out a large tire iron. He begins to swing it down on Poppy forcing her to move the car away to avoid the attack. She follows up by slamming against the bike once more in hopes of trying to knock the bugster down to no avail. However their fight prevents Motors from gaining any ground and Yui slowly begins to slip away. The police are in a similar situation, with the fight between Poppy and Motors preventing them from passing by them.

“We order you to stop! We will use force if we have to!” The police announce once more.

Poppy activates the chain blade on her driver and engages Motors. She rams her car once more and leans over to swing her weapon, cutting into Motors’ side and several of the oversized pipes as her car moves away. The pipes fall off and bounce on the road, forcing a few police cars to swerve out of the way and stop before they hit any objects on the sidewalk.

A few squad cars begin to draw near, in hopes of being able to box the two drivers in, prompting Motors to draw his chain whip and swing at them. Luckily, Poppy manages to get in several hits of her own, throwing off Motors’ aim and sparing the cars that got close.

“Come on Yui. You have to finish the race.” Poppy whispers as she struggles to hold on to Motors’ wrist.

>What next?
>Try and force the race to go down another street. Maybe you can lose some more police this way.
>Transform and jump on Motors’ bike. You can fight him there and prevent him from attacking anyone, maybe even keep him from catching up to Yui. Once the race ends you can jump off and try to hide from the police.
>Try and use a ramp or another path to lose the police. You can rejoin at a later point to try and cut off Motors.
>Get ahead of Motors and abandon your car in his path. You can cause him to crash and try to knock him off of his bike when you transform. You’ll end up being surrounded by police but at least Motors won’t be going anywhere.

As the two bugsters struggle for control of the race, the squad cars begin speeding up in an attempt to box the racers in. Motors swings his fist at Poppy, striking her and forcing her to let go. The bike disengages from the car and slowly starts to gain a lead.

“I won’t let you get away!” Poppy shouts as she slams her car once more against the large bike. The door lets out an uncomfortable crunch as it’s impaled by one of the jagged edges of a pipe that Poppy sliced off. A sudden lurch forward from Motors and the door is snapped off its hinges only held in place by the fact both vehicles were pressed against one another.

“Gotta get him off of Yui.” Poppy mutters as she turns the steering wheel to the left as far as it would got in hopes of turning into another street. The pursuing police cars begin to speed up and attempt to box in the two racers in hopes of slowing them down if not stopping them outright.

Motor’s bike protests against the change of course and attempting to push it aside felt like trying to push aside a wall. Slowly, however, the bike is moved inch by inch. “Come on…” Poppy says. “You can do it…” A squad car manages to pull up besides the two racers and in an act of desperation Poppy pulls away. She slows down slightly, falling behind, before she slams down on the accelerator and rams the front of the car straight into the side of Motor’s bike!

The bike gives way and the two vehicles swerve into another street and driving away from Yui. However the police force manage to keep up with the two and are still in hot pursuit trying to box the two in.

>What do you do?
>Try and knock off Motors from his bike. You’re nearing the train station. If you can knock him off now, he shouldn’t have time to get back on and chase after Yui.
>Try and lose the police. You can’t help Yui with law enforcement on you. Hopefully you’ve knocked Motors off course long enough to buy Yui enough time to win.
>Try to get on and steal Motors’ bike. Your car is falling apart and you’re not sure if you could outrun the police in it. Doing so will knock Motors out of the race and give you a sturdier vehicle but he won’t give it up without a fight.

As Poppy continues to push the car as fast as it can go, it makes a noise that could only be described as a loud “Crunch!”. Something within the engine catches and grinds before coming free and repeating. Pushing the accelerator only seems to exacerbate the issue and the poor car begins to slow down.

“Oh nonono. Come on! You can make it!” Poppy pleads as she futilely bangs on the dash. The car shudders before it seizes and dies with only the momentum carrying it forward. Poppy makes a choking noise as she hastily unbuckles her belt, grabs her driver and leaps onto the hood of the car. She makes a single step, braces and jumps with all her might just as the car begins to fall behind. The force of her jump causes the hood to crumple underneath and Poppy manages to land on Motors’ bike! She hangs on to one of the oversized exhaust pipes and feels the heat sear her hand. Screaming in pain she forces herself to climb forward and on to the front seat of the bike, right behind Motors.

Poppy turns on her chain blade, her burned palms bloodying the device, and swings at the bugster. The first swing hits its mark and slices down Motors’ back before he turns around and stops the second by grabbing Poppy’s wrist and punching her. The force of the blow, coupled with Poppy’s precarious seating, knocks her off the seat. Her driver falls away, bounces once on the road, and is promptly crushed under the tires of one of the police cars leaving Poppy hanging on for her life once more on one of the exhaust pipes!

“I. can’t. Fail!” Poppy shouts. She slowly climbs back to the seat, grabbing pipe after pipe and ignoring the pain in her hands. One the last set, she lets out a growl and flings herself forward landing right behind Motors once more!

Motors turns around to attack again but is greeted with the butt of Poppy’s palm under his chin for his efforts. She follows up by cupping her hands together and hammer striking Motors in head downwards. Poppy repeats the strikes a few more times, each time unbalancing Motors more and more until she finishes him off by backhanding him straight off the bike!

The poor bugster falls off and, with the momentum of the bike, strikes one of the large exhaust pipes, bending it. Motors hits the ground and is subsequently hit by one of the squad cars that was right behind them. The sound of metal crunching and glass shattering causes Poppy to wince and try not to look back. “Sorry...I’ll make it up to you once this is all over. I swear.” She promises sadly as she takes control of the bike.

“Stop immediately! We have you surrounded! You’re under arrest!” The police shout as three of them have boxed the bike in, one on each side and one behind her. Now that Motors was out of the race all that was left to do was lose the police and meet up with Yui.

>How do you attempt to escape the police?
>Try to outspeed them. This bike was made for street racing so surely it must be able to go faster right?
>Try to out maneuver them. This bike has one thing over the police cars and that’s it’s unyielding power. You can try and be reckless and simply drive through obstacles to lose the police as they simply can’t follow you that way.
>Try and lose the bike and go on foot. If you can find somewhere to jump off of the bike and go on foot. You can try and make your way to Yui on foot. You can change your appearance on your way to better help you stay hidden.
>Try and go off-road. This bike wasn’t really made to go off-road but it should have enough horsepower to carry you through it and still out pace the police. The only issue is that the only off road kind of areas are near the edge of the city and you’re dead center. Doing so will put you farther away from Yui.

As Poppy pushed the bike to go faster she noticed one thing. It felt strong, powerfull, like nothing could stop this machine and everything better get out of it’s way. It was rather comforting after having her car fall apart. It also gave her an idea. She turns the handle on her bike and drives it right through a large metal fence surrounding a storage unit facility. The bike punches straight through the fence and a large piece of it is carried away with the bike before it falls off. Several of the police cars come screeching to a halt to avoid colliding with the fence and to avoid any trouble for having a high speed chase on private property. However it seems like the police force had at least one hot shot officer as a lone squad car follows through. The bent bars of the fence scratch and destroy the car’s paint job but don’t deter it as it continues to follow Poppy at high speed.

Poppy looks behind her and lets out a whining sound as she looks nervously ahead to find another way to lose her pursuer. She crashes straight through the other side of the complex and lands back on the street but is still being chased by the squad car. “Come on! Just let me go!” She shouts and rams the bike into several dumpsters behind a shopping area. The dumpsters and their contents are sent flying everywhere making an effective screen of garbage to hide behind but the lone officer persists now with a newly cracked windshield.

As if straight out of an action movie the two vehicles speed through the city dodging traffic and each other until Poppy began to push the bike to it’s limit. She braced for impact and broke straight through a concrete brick wall and several poles designed to keep cars away. With a loud crack and a crunch, the motorcycle broke through them, dented but still fully functional. Unfortunately it was the end of the line for the officer as his vehicle was nowhere near as sturdy. It comes screeching to a halt and the officer steps out of his car shouting, “You can’t get away from me that easily! I’ll find you! Mark my words you’ll see justice!”

“Sorry but we have a city we need to save.” Poppy says under her breath as she breathes a sigh of relief and turns the bike towards the train station. “I hope Yui is alright.” She says out loud looking at the sky and watching the sun start to set.

>You got away! I'll post a follow up tomorrow with some options to vote on. Those were some dicey rolls. Granted the whole senario went pretty rocky but for the most part the crew made it out intact! Congrats!
>>
Poppy parks the bike near the train station in a nearby parking complex. Making her way down the floors she nervously keeps an eye out for the police before making a dash to the station and looking for Yui. She finds her sitting down on a bench nervously looking around and holding on to a train ticket tightly and crumpling it.

“We did it!” Poppy whispers excitedly as she sits down next to Yui. “Sorry about all that.” She says. “They hit us a lot harder than we anticipated.” She admits. “Are you holding up ok?”

Yui nods quietly. “Is this what you people do every day?” Poppy nods quietly.

“This is what we have to do if we want to keep people safe.” She admits.

Yui lets out a shaky laugh. “And here I was thinking about staying here. That it couldn't be that bad. Hell I didn’t even think any of this was real a few days ago. Now I’m running for my life.” She shakes her head and bites her lower lip. “Will Ichiro be ok?” She asks quietly. “He’ll escape too right?”

Poppy pauses a bit before replying.

>What do you tell Yui?
>Promise her that you’ll get him out safely. All that’s left to do is get him back to the hospital right?
>Tell her that you’re not sure but you’ll do whatever you can to make it happen. When you left, the building was still under attack.

“I’m not sure…” Poppy says quietly. “We’ll do everything we can to get him out! What’s most important is we get you to safety. This is what he wanted to do primarily.” She insists. “Please don’t make what we risked our lives for be for nothing. We’ll keep in touch.”

Yui gives Poppy a pained look before finally relenting. “Alright. Just please call me if anything happens.” She begs. Poppy nods.

“I’ll phone you as soon as we find a way to get him to you. Right now, I think we might need to lay low for a bit.” She admits. “Especially after that race.”

“I don’t think I ever want to drive after that ordeal.” Yui admits as the intercom announces the arrival of the next train. “That’s my train.” She says and an awkward silence hangs in the air. “Thanks...for everything.” She says. Poppy nods and smiles.

“It’s no problem. Stay safe.” She says as Yui gets on the train. The two wave their goodbyes and Poppy turns to make her way back to her bike. On her way out she notices Parado’s bike parked in the nearby lot.

>Do you take Parado’s bike or do you keep Motors bike to drive back?
>Take Parado’s and head back to the Ministry building where your team is. Its the bike that’s not being searched for by the police.
>Take Motors’ and hide it in NCR’s base at the hospital. You run the risk of being caught with it but it’s also a bike you can’t normally summon and it’s a really powerful vehicle.

Poppy jogs over to the bike and looks around for any police still looking for her before she swings her leg over the seat and starts up the bike. The machine starts up smoothly and Poppy drives away into the city and towards the Ministry building. Unbeknownst to her, a certain police officer is being reprimanded for damage to his car and trespass.

It had been a while since Revol had finished his speech to the cameras and he was currently answering the fervent questions of the remaining press members. You, however, were sitting on the floor next to Asuna and helping her tend to her injuries. “It doesn’t look too bad.” You say quietly as you bandage her leg up. “The wound has closed considerably since you jumped out the window...you know you didn’t have to do that. What were you thinking with that cut of yours?” You ask.

“Well, I figured since jumping off high places works out so well for you. I thought I’d give my luck a go.” Asuna jokes weakly. A sentiment that you fail to notice. She pauses and holds your hand. “It’s going to be alright.” She reassures you. Worry must have been clearly written on your face. You sigh and look at Revol and his group.

“Why would he do it?” You wonder out loud as you look glumly at the floor. “And why would Hiiro be fighting us?” You bury your face in your knees. “I don’t know what’s going on.”

Asuna places her hand on your back and is about to answer when your phone rings. “Hello?” You answer half heartedly.

“Reiko?” Poppy’s voice replies. “We managed to get Yui to safety.”

“That’s good.” You say with great relief. “I’m gonna have to give Parado an earful for jumping off the damn bike like that.”

Poppy goes quiet for a moment and your stomach turns. “About that…” She says almost inaudibly as the sounds of the bike roar in the background. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t save them both.” She says as her voice breaks. “Motors was going after Yui and they were carrying your brother away. I...he would’ve told me to go after Yui if I did save him! And the whole point was to save her too!” Poppy continues to plea her case with you but you don’t hear her as your phone slips out of your hand in disbelief.

>What do you do?
>Get up and go get your brother back obviously. He needs your help. You got the mysterious Gashat. You can storm Gemn Corp right?
>Call everyone to the hospital to try and make a plan. You can’t do it alone but you don’t have time to waste.

Poppy’s voice continues to come from your phone but it was just a distant buzz right now. You think you can hear Asuna saying something as well as she shakes your shoulder but it seemed to barely register in your mind.

Why? Was all that ran through your mind. Why did things go like this? You were doing so well. You brought back all the members of Cyber Rescue. You helped everyone get their Gashats back and even saved several players while you were at it. Now it seemed like every attempt to do good backfired on you. Every move, a failure. Your brother. Missing. The man you loved. Working for the enemy. And worst of all everyone was counting on you. Everyone expected you to have the answer to everything.

I don’t know what to do.

You vaguely feel yourself being helped to your feet and you numbly make your way out of the room. Your surroundings seem to blur and melt together as you keep on moving. You’re unsure for how long you walked but you find yourself in one of the patient rooms at the hospital. Maybe everyone decided that you’d better off locked away before you could screw up anything else. Maybe you really weren’t a hero. Definitely not someone worthy of calling themselves a doctor. And who better to know that than you? After all, you were terrible at lying...even to yourself.
