The time in your world was morning. It was now a better time than ever to get onto dealing with the intruder you were once told about.

Telling Vivianne and Shara to stay put, you slipped out of your room, greeted by the fresh air and hot blades of light the morning sunrise gave off. You looked around, checking that no one was looking before you walked away off to the side to get out of sight.

Once you found a suitable spot near the end of the line at the housing, you huddled into a corner and drew out your Small Resonant Bell. You remembered what the elusive figure 'Gehrman' told you about how to use it, that they would be ready when you were.

Not wanting to waste a moment more, you ring the bell, letting a veil of darkness come over you and take you into light of that netherworld beyond your own...

......

You arrived back in the Hunter's Dream as you expected and climbed up the cobblestone archway, pushing the doors open and letting yourself in.

Gehrman was not present this time, but The Good Hunter was here, you saw him ringing the larger bell Gehrman had the last time you saw them both. He gets off of the table he leaned on and looks up at you.

"Ah, hello again. Finally got your wits about you? I do think we've put off solving this problem plaguing both of our worlds for long enough." He says, shoving the bell back into his pocket. "The old man is out in the garden right now, best to let him have his beauty sleep. It will be just me and you for now."

"Fine by me. You mind telling me how we'll get back to my world though?" You ask curiously.

"With the Headstones of course, Flora can make them work in mysterious ways with her little Messengers." The Good Hunter said, mounting his greatsword onto his back.

"Come." He says, walking out.

You followed the punctual cooperator out of the workshop house and down near the row of gravestones that stood up along the second walkway of cobblestone. The second Headstone going down had the ghastly little Messengers poking out from it, reaching up in readiness to transport you and him.

"You know your world, I don't." The Good Hunter says as he steps aside behind you and points down at the Messengers. "Offer these loyal little Messengers a prayer of any kind, and think of somewhere to go. I will be right behind you."

No difficulty in that. You take a step closer, edging towards the Messengers and put your hands together to whisper another prayer to the Five.

The place you thought of was...

Back home, to Astera.

You and The Good Hunter both reached out to the Messengers as you finished your prayer and allowed the darkness to swirl around again, encapsulating the both of you...

.....

When you open your eyes again, you find yourself staring at the walls of your room. You looked around, seeing Shara and Vivianne both backed away in shock, The Good Hunter was standing next to you, looking over his new surroundings with peculiarity.

"Well, now it's my turn to say welcome. This, is my room. My room, in Astera."

"Astera?"

"Yeah, let's head outside."

You beckoned The Good Hunter over to the door and gave Shara and Vivianne a look as you went to go out. You only raised your fingers at them and pressed your index and thumb together to tell them it was okay.

Outside, The Good Hunter stops dead in his tracks as he views Astera in it's entirety. He has an expression over his obscured face, like dread or something.

"Are you... okay?"

"Yes.... yes... I'm just..." He stammered. "There... are people here..."

"Yeah."

"And they aren't attacking on sight..."

"Yeah....?"

"And this place isn't in... ruins... burning to the ground... and the sky..."

".....Yeah?"

"I'm.... it..... Oughh.... Forgive me, it's just been a long time, a very... very long time since I've seen civilization. How hysterical of me to assume your world would be anything like mine."

"I guess you could say this is civilization, but really this here is just the Commission, well, it's headquarters. It's a infinitesimally smaller part of the Guild back on the other continents."

"You don't say..."

"We should get you some things from my world, things work differently here. Come on, let's get you brought up to speed." You say, gesturing him to follow.

You knew what would go good right about now, having someone else on board with going to slay this intruder to your world from The Good Hunter's own. You knew just the person too.

You got The Good Hunter to follow you up the lifts, though he seemed wary of the stares he received from any one passerby here. He was perplexed even more by the Felynes he spotted around, you had to quietly explain their companionship with Man on the way, and you had to inform him that Wyverians were also normal.

He seems to just call them 'bird Pthumerians as he notes their digitigrade legs.

Once up the lift, you headed down past the Canteen with him, greeting the Housekeeper as you approached the suite of the Star. To your surprise, he comes out of the double doors first before you even get the chance to reach and knock.

And he is accompanied by... his... Handler?

"Oh! Freelancer, hello. I was just about to make my morning rounds. What brings you to me today? And who might this fellow be?"

"Ughh.... Ahemhem hmm... Uhh... Yeah, hi. Uh... Well, this is the 'Good Hunter'. He's from another world. You heard about something with a bell at the Research Base I imagine... well, that would be it." You say slowly.

"I see. Well, it is my pleasure to meet you. I am Adolf Stausland, they call me 'Sapphire Star', as I am the most exceptional Hunter the Commission has to offer." The Star greeted him by offering his hand.

The Good Hunter slowly reaches back out and shakes the Star's hand, never once averting his gaze from the... Handler, who was eating a drumstick. "Much... obliged."

"ᴰᵉᵃʳ ᴼᵉᵈᵒn ᵗʰᵃᵗ'ˢ ᵗʰᵉ ᵇᶦᵍᵍᵉˢᵗ ᵍᵒᵈᵈᵃᵐnᵉᵈ ᴾᵗʰᵘᵐᵉʳᶦᵃn ᴵ'ᵛᵉ ᵉᵛᵉʳ ˢᵉᵉn..." The Good Hunter whispered to you as he briefly leaned in.

"Oh, and this is my Handler, she handles all the important paperwork." The Star says, motioning to her.

"Hey! And wow! I didn't think we'd ever see another stranger from a different world! I hope I can see what the cuisine is like there one day. Nice to meet you!" The Handler said, bowing slightly.
>>
The Good Hunter returns with his own unique bow, even if incredibly irked by... this all.

"So uh..." You coughed. "Star, or Adolf I should say... have you heard anything about something in the Elder's Recess?"

"As a matter of fact yes, the Commander has told me about something you relayed to him. An 'Intruder' of sorts."

"Me and my Good Hunting friend here are going off to take care of whatever that is. I was wondering, would you like to join us?"

"Hmm.... well, I was planning on seeing that 'Twilight Acreage' the Admiral discovered today, but I suppose I could take some time out of my day to come along with you both, I'm very interested to see what this 'Intruder' is myself." The Star says.

"Oh, well that's great." You say, feeling better about things with the Star agreeing to come.

"Indeed. I will be off at the Canteen for now getting my Pre-Hunt on. I will join you momentarily. Handler, come." The Star says, clapping his hands.

You left it at that and turned away to leave with The Good Hunter.

"The more Cooperators, the better I gander." He says.

Next stop was the Commander's table. The Good Hunter would do better knowing what to expect out in the field, and what has transpired since the day the bell was discovered here in your world.

The Commander, Field Team Leader and the Chief Ecologist were all present. You approached and saluted the officers.

"Commander, sir."

"Freelancer." The Commander greets before eyeing your comrade. "And you are?"

"I'm a Good Hunter."

"Hmm?"

You show the Small Resonant Bell you had.

"Sir, concerning my report of what the bell did, this is the man who I fought beside in that parallel world. He's here to lend us a hand in eliminating whatever moved to the Recess."

"Ah. Well in that case, welcome aboard. If this 'Intruder' I've been hearing about is native to your world, then you'll be paramount in slaying it as someone with experience." The Commander nods.

"I'll try my best." The Good Hunter swore.

"Very well." The Commander looks over to the other officers. "Give them the debrief."

"Sir." The Field Team Leader says, taking over as he put his finger on a map of the Elder's Recess.

"Considering how unknown this Monster we're dealing with is, I saw fit to have emplacements built around the Recess featuring heavy firepower. I've had some ballistae and cannons set up mostly around sectors seven, eight and nine here. I couldn't afford to have the scouts stationed there around the clock given the reports they turned in, so they've retreated to nearby camps. Once you're down at the Recess you can call them in to operate the emplacements if you need to, I'd suggest using your flares."

"Last night the scouts gave me a listing of every Monster besides our guest they know is prowling the Recess at this moment. They've reported sighting Teostra and Lunastra, a Rajang, an Uragaan, a Brachydios and Savage Deviljho." The Commander added.

"I do think our friend from another world here would not be so acquainted with our native lifeforms. Perhaps some studying at our library will help with that." The Chief Ecologist suggested.

"If your plans are to try and take it out today, you might want to make sure you have everything you need. Otherwise, that's about it for anything new we've discovered." The Field Team Leader finished.

The Good Hunter picked up a report from the table, an older one from a few days ago. His eyes went through the pages quick and he seems to react with much caution to it. He sets it down and pulls out something from his back pocket, a stone with dozens and dozens of holes in it.

"I think I know just what came your world. If I'm right, this situation has just exacerbated to a whole new level." The Good Hunter says, clenching the stone.

"Well, I'm putting my trust in you both to be able to change that." The Commander says to you and your cooperator. "If that is all you may dismiss yourselves. Go when you're ready, and may the Sapphire Star light your way."

You salute, the Good Hunter bows once more.

You possess the Quicksilver Coating Vial fixed item, which imbues Gunlance, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun and Bow weapon classes to deal far greater damage to beings of the Dragon Element and monsters of the 'Relict', 'Scourge' and 'Cosmic' classes. Use is infinite but timed for the next twelve moves.

Your Usurper's Roar Thunder Element Gunlance is compatible. It is up to you to decide whether or not you think carrying the Holy Moonlight Sword or opting for using the Gunlance with the Vial is a better option.

Switch out the two weapons?

For now, you would stick by your choice to wield the Holy Moonlight Sword. Now was rather a better time to let The Good Hunter get a feel for how things were done in your world.

You take him by the Smithy. The Second Fleet Master greets you with a wave of his mittens, informing you that it shouldn't be much longer until your Yama Tsukami Set is complete. He seems to be mesmerized by the gear The Good Hunter carried.

You didn't tell him from where The Good Hunter hailed, only that he wasn't from here, and that he was an expert that came to assist the Commission with something. The Second Fleet Master understands right off the bat and whistles for his subordinates to grab the right things.

They presented some equipment in good shape for him. A portable Scoutfly carrier, a Slinger that was Clutch Claw ready, and a carving knife. The Good Hunter refuses things he thought unnecessary such as the BBQ Split they try to shovel off to him.

He seems fond of the Slinger, even if he couldn't understand the purpose when you could just throw things instead. He compares it to the work of so-called heretics much to the confusion of you and the Second Fleet Master.

Knowledge was power, and getting your colleague knowledge on what to expect here would go a long way in helping his survival. He may have experience with whatever came from his world to yours, but what was native to your world he would have no experience with.

A quick trip by the Researcher station helped to remedy this, the Smart Biologist there did his best to search for what exactly was needed through the massive piles of books that were stacked higher than even the tallest of Hunters here in Astera. Creatures that inhabited the Recess were the topic, and so he grabbed several books on the subjects to hand off to you and The Good Hunter.

This was slightly encumbering, but the Star likely wasn't ready yet, so you and The Good Hunter both go off to the Canteen.

He becomes shocked to see the sheer amounts of food that people in your world consume on a daily basis, so you have to remind him to stay back to the books. You helped him search through them, glossing in them over paragraphs related to Monsters inhabiting the Recess. He is immensely interested, and so spends a long period reading through it all.

By the time he finishes, he has quite enough to go by in the ways of knowledge on these certain Monsters, doubling his performance against them should you and him encounter any in the Recess. He doesn't seem to think Rajang and Uragaan are so much a threat, instead pointing to Brachydios and Savage Deviljho as being the real hazards here. Maybe he would find out just how much of a menace that monkey really was on the way, though you didn't wish to see Rajang today...

Above all else, he finds it hard to believe at first that all these diverse species of Monsters in your world are entirely natural. His world was so much different, full of so many unnatural things.

"Say, what do you think came from your world to mine?" You asked. It was pretty imperative you got an idea as well.

"I cannot say for sure it it what I think it is, but if I am to make a decent guess, what came from my world to yours is a Great One." He answered with much concern about his tone.

"A Great One?"

"Another title in my world for what we've called 'Gods' for generations. Beings that defy all understanding, much beyond our human comprehension."

"...Will we be able to slay it?"

"You can't kill a Great One." The Good Hunter states. "What you see of them is merely an emanation, what of they that they allow you to see and touch. When you repel this meek emanation, the Great One will simply replenish it in time. You can't kill a Great One."

"We'll see about that." You say with bravado.

"You will. I fear what we deal with is the Godhead."

"Godhead?"

"This is a Great One whose nature I can never even begin to glimpse. Does it have many bodies for one soul? Many extensions... many arms to reach out with? Or is it an entire breed of them that all act to one will? One push they strive for?"

"...."

"It is known as Amygdala."
>>
Just then, you heard the Star call out, he was ready to depart on the mission then. Are you ready? Or is there anything else you need to do before you leave to face this 'Amygdala' in the Elder's Recess?

With everything in check, you and The Good Hunter both got up and left, heeding the call of the Star and joining the prestigious hero at the Gathering Hub's Mernos dock.

At first, The Good Hunter was apprehensive to the idea of riding the Wingdrakes or entrusting them to carry him, he questioned if there were any other better means of transportation such as carriages only to receive answers that disappointed him. You worried a bit as he seemed to eye the Mernos with this look that radiated bloody intent, as though he'd lash out and try to kill them if they made one wrong move, but he represses the urge to slaughter as you help him mount up the proper way, giving him a thumbs up for reassurance to which he only nods back at.

With all three of you saddled up now, your group departs and gets on way to the Elder's Recess. The Good Hunter amusingly holds onto his strap for dear life with both hands. Along the way, the Star falls back on the last time he encountered something otherworldly and seems delighted to finally be able to actually interact with the otherworldly, as the last time it happened he wasn't able to be on the field.

You were moved the most by how well everyone had taken it, you didn't think the Commander or the Star would be this relaxed with someone who's actually from another world, but you guess it's still better than having to deal with Elder Dragons ruining the ecosystem wherever they tread at. You'll leave it at that.

Upon arriving at the Southern Camp, your group found it was populated by at least four Scouts. These Scouts were chosen among the lower rank's Hunters here in the New World. They had simple Hunter, High Metal or Alloy armor and wielded Iron beginner weapons, two didn't even have anything other than carving knifes.

The only one you recognized there was the Pukei Hunter who wielded a bow, Calvin was it? He steps up and salutes with his stutter.

"W-W-W-Welcome, sirs!"

"Report, ensign." The Star requested as he grabbed some stones for his Slinger, The Good Hunter imitating his actions.

"W-Well sirs, the Recess is absolutely b-b-b-brimming with lots of tough Monsters, all riled up by whatever is o-o-out there. We won't dare venture outside 'cept t-t-t-to man the cannons and ballistae."

"How many emplacements, ensign?"

"Star sir, there are exactly four cannons and five b-b-b-ballistae posts set up around Sectors three and four, and about the same for sectors eight, seven and nine. There's four of u-u-us here at this camp, and the Eastern Camp has three more scouts at the ready."

"Very good. Any idea where you might place Monsters roaming today at?"

"Sir. Sectors six and five should be roamed by a Brachydios and Uragaan right now. S-S-Sector thirteen is where the Teostra and Lunastra couple are hiding. The S-S-Savage Deviljho should either be in ten or eleven.... we don't... we don't know where the Rajang is."

"What about the... 'intruder', where in this abyss do you think it is?" The Good Hunter piped up.

"Uh... Sir, we don't know, we've not seen anything. But, we believe it may lie in anywhere between sectors three and four, nine, fourteen or fifteen." The Pukei Hunter says, a bit intimidated by The Good Hunter."

"Well, that mixes things up. We'll have to decide where we'll search." The Star says.

"R-R-Remember, you only need to fire the flare and we'll come running to man the cannons." The Pukei Hunter reminds your group.

"Anything left to tell us?" You ask, looking out over the Recess with your Binoculars. The Good Hunter comes over and views through his monocule as well.

"We did hear some strange noises from Sector eight.... and we haven't heard much from Teostra and Lunastra, they might have even left." The Pukei Hunter says.

"Sector eight?" You threw out.

"I know that area too well, I almost wish it didn't exist. Ah well, I suppose there's a good place to begin. We're off." The Star complied.

You and The Good Hunter both follow behind him as well, setting off into the depths of the Elder's Recess.

You look up, there are flocks of bird type Endemic small Monsters fleeing the area in droves. The Nitrotoads and other Endemic lifeforms are roused as well, all scrambling to find somewhere to hide.

Whatever was here, it projected fear all across the Recess, sending everything into a craze... it unnerved you, but you held fast.

"Say, you, what can we call you?" The Star asked The Good Hunter.

"I don't really share my name, I'm only a Hunter, I hunt Beasts." The Good Hunter answered as best he could.

"Well, let's call you the Beast Hunter then. Alright, Beast Hunter, what can we expect from this unknown adversary we're hunting down?"

"It has many arms... it's strength cannot be matched. You will feel fear from it. Fear is it's domain." The Good Hunter warned you and the Star equally.

"Fear? Huh hm hm, is that so? I've only felt it a few times in my life." The Star heartily came as he took the lead.

You and the Star both slide down the curve leading into Sector eight, and wait for The Good Hunter to jog down, as he didn't seem to play along so well in that instance.

When the three of you strode into the great chamber housing many crystals, a ground normally used to feed at by Dodogama, the first thing that stood out was a large and frightful presence that lay collapsed there. It was the Rajang.

Was this Rajang the same as the one you once fought against? Perhaps it might prove that so if it catches your scent. Right now, it was... out of breath...

The Rajang was gassed out, like it had been putting up a struggle against something just as strong as itself for hours on end without a break.

"So, that's the monkey you said was so bad?" The Good Hunter remarks, crossing his arms. "I didn't think it looked that threatening then, I don't think it is now."

"Why if you anger it, which isn't hard, you will see your folly revealed without much effort. I'd be more wary if I were you." The Star says.

"That I will have to see for myself." The Good Hunter doubted it.

"Well then kick him if you're sure you're ready." The Star tempted him.

The Good Hunter takes a few steps forward.

At first, you wanted to spring forward and stop him from kicking the Rajang, fearful that it might just end up standing back up and fighting. But, with the Star present and showing no fear in it, you guess you didn't have much to worry about.

You stood at the side and watched as The Good Hunter approached up to the ape and stood in front of it's head.

He raises his boot and kicks the creature against the face

To everyone's surprise, the Rajang's eyes flutter open and it stares up at The Good Hunter without a clue as to what just happened. It's eyes fall between him, the Star and you before it smells.... then it curled it's lips and showed it's teeth, obviously angry as it recognized the scent. It's eyes didn't come off of you.

The Good Hunter cautiously stepped back as the Rajang slowly picked itself up with much strain. The rock it's right hand was on was grasped by it as it rose up and towered over The Good Hunter.

You and the Star were just about to spring into action to help him as it raised the rock with intent to smash him with it, but the blow never comes. Rajang instead drops the rock and everyone stops to watch in shock at what happened next.

Rajang begins to float... or rather... Rajang is lifted up by an unseen force from behind...

Rajang snarled and snorted, struggling in futility against the unseen force that just grabbed it up. You saw it's muscles contract within, and you swear you even saw an inkling of fear across that ape's eyes as it swung it's head

"Get back.... Get back!" The Good Hunter yelled, backing away.

Whatever had Rajang in it's grasp began to squeeze down. There was popping from the Fanged Beast's muscles as it lost it's breath and hung it's jaw, then a snap, and it goes limp....

Rajang was still alive, you could tell by it's chest moving with the flow of it's shallow breathing, but it was in unthinkable pain, too great even for it to endure...

Despite squeezing down on that monkey like a banana to the point of nearly snapping it in half, the entity that had Rajang wasn't done yet.

You witnessed something yank on it's tail, and Rajang roared as it pulled... and pulled.... and pulled until the tail's flesh was undone.

The tail was now a dangling string of meat in the palm of whatever just tore it off, and it was cast aside like rubbish.

Now done torturing the ape, and reminding it of how insignificant it was in comparison, the greater entity that held Rajang's life in it's palms moved the ape back, and then with a hard motion from it's arm, Rajang was thrown away by it.

Rajang was flung to the air like a stone, hitting the ground and rolling off the nearest ledge out of the chamber. That was the last you saw of it then.

There was a stomp then dead in front of everyone, and the dust on the ground flowed from the force.

You and the Star both got behind The Good Hunter, who held his stone out.

You heard the scratch of claws against the stonework and crystals as the large and invisible frame of the ghostly intruder shuffled by, moving to leave the sector.

When it passed by close enough to the vicinity of The Good Hunter's stone, you saw a flash of it. Everyone did.

A gargantuan foot of a nightmarish creature, the flesh greyed out to lifelessness and inhumanity, the nails eerily elongated and sharp like a blade to the touch, the number of toes far too many more than what was normal for feet so humanoid like this...

Merely looking it over made you feel disgust.

This ghostly giant shambles out of the area, climbing out of it's entrance and leaving your group to stand there tensely.

"I knew it, Amygdala... I hate these things..." The Good Hunter confounded the sight.

"You are the expert on dealing with it I trust? How should we approach this... thing?" The Star asked.

"One of us is going to have to draw it's attention. I know how to, but it might know what I am and refuse to reveal itself.... it may only be interested in things of this world it came to." The Good Hunter made it clear.

>We'll do it, we have more carts than they do.... though, that might not matter here...
>The Star is the most resilient of us here, he should do it.
>Only the Good Hunter knows how, let him do it.

"I'll do it then." You state. "I've done a lot of stupid things before, what will another hurt?"

"Very well, if you must. But, let me warn you, this could be the last dimwitted thing you ever do. So take this." The Good Hunter says, handing off his stone to you.

The stone was strange, full of holes, and acting almost as if it didn't want to leave The Good Hunter's hand. It sticks right to yours like a magnet against metal.

"It's the Tonsil Stone, it's the only thing that can reveal or summon the Godhead. And take this as well."

You receive his larger bell then, and he beckons you to hand over your own Small Resonant Bell, which you do.

"With the Tonsil Stone in your hand, you will be sent somewhere when IT grabs you, otherwise it would just kill you without remorse."

"And when I get to that 'somewhere', I take it ringing this bell will bring you to me?"

"Yes, the Beckoning Bell and the Small Resonant Bell both work in unison. With the Beckoning Bell, you send off a call for help, and with the Resonant Bell, we can answer that call. There is no other way."

"I understand." You nod.

"But what will he do to get the thing's attention? It ignored us just then." The Star points out.

"Come along, I will teach you a gesture with which you can draw it's scrutiny." The Good Hunter says, turning to trail off the way the thing went.

You follow behind, ready to do this.

Despite being squished to no more than a puddle in the palm of the deity, you are not dead, nor do you feel the pain anymore.

Your "death" was only the opening of a door. You have no control over your movement, and you enter, falling down into a spiral of what seemed like nothing at first, until you realized it was a weave like web from a spider as your descent quickened.

The web was without beginning or end, stretching down infinitely. It was a colorless and dreadful infinite white.

You wished it to end, and so, it did, but not because of your desire. You were pulled out of it by the same unseen thing, taken out into another aperture...

Your eyes remained shut for the duration of the fall, yet you still were able to tell your surroundings. Now, you could open them.

Greeting you was dirt and lush green grass. You were face down on the ground. You heard the mewling of something ahead, and so stood to attention to face it.

Your neck contrived as you looked up at the colossal entity awaiting you. You could see it all now, every unnatural feature from the myriad arms to the spindly hairs stemming from it's greyed lifeless flesh. The thing's face was indescribable, like meat with patches of carved out openings, with whatever was underneath it glowing with pale and amber lights out of this world.

This thing was Amygdala, this thing was the Godhead.

You felt what it felt towards you, anger. It was like raising your hand to a fire sprawling out of control. It was not of a positive disposition, it's original wish was that you'd die in it's hands, but with the Tonsil Stone in your possession, you defied that wish. This God was ireful, and prepared to punish you with it's overwhelming might.

It seems to hug itself with it's horribly twisted arms, and then it screams to the air with a wicked cry.

HOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

You wouldn't do anything to this nightmare alone.

You rang the Beckoning bell...

To your left and to your right, your companions coalesce into sight. Both of them materialized here in this place, becoming corporeal in this incorporeal realm.

"It is just as I thought." The Good Hunter says, stepping forward and looking all around. "The Great One has created a Dream World here to act as the immaterial opposite to your real world, and it has twisted it into a Nightmare.... It's goal is clear, it wants to dominate your world..."

You also observed your surroundings. This Nightmare was an amalgamation of places you swear you recognized from the real world. One area was watery and it resembled your home, Moga Village. Another was sandy with red rock, reminiscent of the Ancestral Steppe back in the Old World. Another part looked like the Misty Peaks near Yukumo Village, and the place to your left seemed to resemble a fortress with Dundorman architecture, it had three Dragonators as well... ones that might even work...

"My Gog... this thing is horrible..." The Star says, looking forward to Amygdala.

"You are one UGLY abomination." The Star shouts at the deity, earning an inhuman scowl from it.

You drew your weapon, as did the others.

"It's legs are invincible, you can only harm it's head and arms." The Good Hunter gave out a tip.

"So what? We just hit it until it dies here or what?" You questioned.

"What we see of it here in the Nightmare is it's true emanation. That invisible force in the waking world is just a projection, like a reflection through glass. We cannot harm it there, and it can do anything to us there on the contrary." The Good Hunter says, tricking his weapon and alighting it with Fire Paper.

"Here in the Nightmare however we can reach it's real self. We will weaken it here and force it to flee to the waking world, where we can kill this body."

"So complex..." The Star commented.

"Even if it is, we can't fail here. It's happening, now!" You declare.

You looked left, towards the Dragonators built into that fortress wall. They were perfect for something of Amygdala's size! They had to be used!

You thought to run that way in an attempt to reach them before anything else happens, which leads you to failing to realize just how stationary the Great One was after all. Your sudden take off prompts both the Star and The Good Hunter to fail taking notice as well, dragging you all to ruin!

Amygdala used it's powers to perform a move that seemed almost like it would be more effective closer up to your group. It slammed it's palms into the ground, creating bursts of force from the ethereal power it gathered. You thought you and the others were safe. In truth, none of you were.

It takes until the last moment when it is far too late to do anything about it for you and the others to notice the ethereal power Amygdala summoned didn't just stop when the Great One slammed it's hands to the ground, but instead continued through the ground, coursing up and down with more bursts in it's wake. You and the others are caught in the radii of it, blasting you each back!

Admittedly however, the blasts weren't grave. Amygdala must not be tapping into it's true strength, just yet, it must be holding back for now. This didn't mean it couldn't kill you or the others...

You get back up and keep running.

You shoved yourself up the nets, hastily climbing to reach the top of the mortar wall to find the lever or button or whatever there was to operator the triple Dragonator installment.

On the ground, The Good Hunter and the Star both took notice of what you were doing and worked to keep Amygdala in one place for it to happen. The god spewed smelly and acidic puddles of a slimy compound from it's face down all over the ground at them, but they manage to avoid it.

Amygdala swung it's limbs, pounding the ground to try and hit them as they stayed on the move. You found the lever and pulled it, causing the machinery to stir back to life as the Great One stomped, situating itself in the path of the giant weapons.

They all spun, shooting out and hitting Amygdala, sending the Great One crashing to the ground!

Striking forth in cohesion, you and your mates land an admirable set of blows onto the head of the abominable deity.

The Good Hunter drew his greatsword back, thrusting it forward into the empty black sockets of Amygdala's head before retracting and delivering a powerful overhead slash with it.

You battered the head of the thing with your own greatsword, coming around in a twirl to hit it with a True Charged Slash, your Holy Moonlight Blade powering up to it's arcane form at the last few seconds, leaving behind searing burns from the arcane power onto the cage-like head of the creature from on high.

The Star charged his hammer, not yet unveiling his Transcendent State, and he lifted it up, edging closer before he spins three times around, swinging his hammer in an uppercut right into the face of Amygdala, sending dirt flying as he bashed the creature and sent it spiraling backwards.

The Amygdala stumbled on it's feet, but once it got a footing, it immediately came back around to lunge and try to level you and your partners. Thankfully, The Good Hunter senses it's move and untricks his weapon.

You see him build up momentum in his arm before lunging forward himself, stabbing the Amygdala in it's head and staggering the thing, allowing him to plunge his hand inside and tear it out for a Visceral Attack!

"Watch out for it's jumps! It's legs can kill you nearly instantly!" The Good Hunter shouted.

The Great One swung it's arms all around at once over every surrounding inch in it's zone. This forced you and your mates to have to back away to a safer distance for the moment.

Unluckily for your group, this was exactly what Amygdala aimed for.

The mad deity takes aim, and then it fires in a burst! Bluish bolts of light fly from it's face!

You and the others stepped out of the way of the lasers initially, fortunate enough to react to them in time, but not so fortunate enough to react to the light of the lasers gathering beneath your feet in time.

All at once, the glowing spots underfoot exploded, erupting into flares that sent each of you flying off of your feet!

And you got your answer from it.

"ᴵᵛʸ. ᴱᵃᵗ ᴵᵛʸ."

Ivy...? Where was the Ivy...?

Ahh! of course, the Misty area! There was Ivy growing over there. It all made sense to you now, Ivy did have natural elements to it that were known to help with stress.

You shouted to the others and ran over that way, they followed behind quickly. The Good Hunter took care of himself by drinking a sedative while you and the Star both collected Ivy from the ground and wolfed it down, not bothering to chew the hard blades.

You saw what Amygdala was doing then. It sends the Antimatter it built up on it's face down inside it's body, worming it through it's veins until the Antimatter accumulates in distributed portions which shine out from the glowing spots each of it's hands featured.

Amygdala was going to grab you and drown you in the Antimatter, which would mean eating the Ivy was for naught.

...But you were quicker than usual. You saw the hands coming and dropped to a slide underneath most of them, the Antimatter charges in Amygdala's palms all going off harmlessly.

You rolled under it's feet as it tried to stomp you and reach back down with the two hands that still had charges to grab you, but you ran around the length of it's waist and ducked behind a tree, causing it to grab the tree rather than you.

This sent you flying back as the charge detonated on the tree, which absorbed most of the explosion, and you looked up again to see it bringing the last charged hand over to catch you.

Thinking fast, you grabbed the handle of the Holy Moonlight Blade, and with one arm at the cost of most of your stamina, you are able to swing it in time to unleash a slicer of arcane power out at Amygdala's hand, halting the Great One and taking out it's last charge.

This act caused the deity to become enraged over how a mortal just outwitted it's move. To such a high being, the littlest of effort should suffice to destroy things like you, but that wasn't the case here. You weren't about to become a sacrifice for this wicked divinity.

Amygdala exerted it's pressure while pulling in streaks of red that formed from the air. The entity crosses all of it's arms before unleashing another inhuman wail, sending off a wave of all consuming black from it's outlines.

Touch the Red Eye.
>"Let your sight not wander awry."
Touch the Opposite Eye.
>"Lay down your arms and do not fight."
DON'T Attack the stars in the background.
>"Stay your hand, do not reach out for the light."
DON'T Touch the Light Eye.
>"Stay your hand, do not fight back against the night."
DON'T Touch the Dark Eye.

DON'T Attack the eyes.

I could be wrong. I need to sleep this over.

"Eyes do not shut your way." is still throwing me for a loop. It could mean to not attack the eyes, it could mean to do it in reverse order or it could mean the vertical eye meeds to be touched.
>>
>>4161024
Well I'm tired now so I'll wait to pick it up again soon.
>>
>>4160988
I agree with most of that in the sense I don't have a better clue.
I think "Eyes do not shut your way' means the opposite (vertically closing) eye as it closes in a way opposite to how humies do it.
>>
>>4161042
Agreed.

>>4161017
Switching "horizontal" to "vertical".
>>
>>4160988
This puzzle and that notes scraps were both made by Amygdala, the same thing trying to KILL US right about now. We should definitely attack, though I'm not sure where to place attacking at in the order.
>>
>>4161068
I considered that, but applying occam's razor i think it's easier to just assume this puzzle at face value. It's troublesome enough as is.
>>
>>4161073
Thats the thing though, doing what is more simpler, i. e. listening to everything on the note is exactly what Amy wants us to do, what Amy thinks we'll do because Amy is driving us over the edge right now with frenzy and causing us to freak out. Obviously when we're scared shitless like this we'll wanna do what we can to get out ASAP, but doing that here is only gonna lead us to playing right into Amy's hand.
>>
Can't we try consult the sword again? Whatever entity powers it probably won't be happy an opposing entity is trying to prey on us and might give us a useful clue.
>>
>>4161379
I would be careful how much help we should expect from the white moon dragon.
>>
>>4161379
We are lucky it even offers us guidance in the first place.
"An arcane sword discovered long ago by Ludwig.
When blue moonlight dances around the sword, and it channels the abyssal cosmos, its great blade will hurl a shadowy lightwave.
The Holy Moonlight Sword is synonymous with Ludwig, the Holy Blade, but few have ever set eyes on the great blade, and whatever guidance it has to offer, it seems to be of a very private, elusive sort."."

If anything the fact that it even offers guidance to us is a miracle and privilege in and of itself, it would be best not to force it to help us or we may not choose to speak to us again.
>>
Have my humble players all decided on an order to use in the puzzle?

You decided to act in a way you thought out just then. The eyes all around followed your movement.

You reached forward and cautiously prodded the Vertical Eye with your finger. It blinks and you hear a sound, something like a droplet of water falling into a larger pool.

Next, you reached forward towards the glint in the Big Eye, it's tiny white dot of a pupil. Your hand enters the blackness of it's pupil.... but you feel nothing, the glint remaining out of your reach. It was like waving your hands through the air.

Retracting your hand, you instead touch the Red Eye. Your finger has blood on it as you pull your hand back, the Red Eye was dripping with it.

Then, you touch the Opposite Eye. The thing blinks and then looks at you briefly before turning away again.

You thought about attacking the eyes, but you refrain.

Was that right...?

....

"NAAARGH!"

No, it wasn't right! IT WASN'T RIGHT!

Spears of blood shoot out from within you, tearing through your flesh! The Cosmic Frenzy was getting to you!

Oh the hubris, you obeyed everything the note pieces said. What were you thinking, choosing not to attack the eyes of your enemy...?! This is not a merciful God...

Beyond desperate, you pulled your Holy Moonlight Blade out from your back and caressed it again, wanting another slither of guidance!

"ᶠᶦʳˢᵗ... ˢᵉᶜᵒnᵈ... ᵗʰᶦʳᵈ... ᶠᵒᵘʳᵗʰ..."

First? Second? Third and fourth?

Frenzy Buildup: 42%

>Touch the Vertical Eye.
>Touch the Red Eye.
>Touch the Big Eye.
>Touch the Dark Eye.
>Touch the Opposite Eye.
>Touch the Horizontal Eye.
>Touch the Light Eye.
>Reach for the Big Eye's pupil.
>Attack the eyes.
>Attack the stars in the background.
>>
>>4162026
Well shit. Give me a few minutes and I'lp try to come up with something.
>>
>let your blood drain and run dry
Red eye

>let your sight not wander awry
Opposite eye

>lay down your arms and do not fight
Means we should attack like I was saying

>stay your hand, do not reach out for the light
Means we should reach for the pupil

>shut your lids
This one means we should touch one of the half closed eyes. "Eyes do not shut your way" means we should touch Vertical since >>4161042 already pointed out thats not how humans do it

>let the sun of what's next set
Light eye

>let the moon of that since set
Dark eye

>stay your hand, do not fight back against the night
Means we should attack the stars

The guidance probably points to the order in which the notes are supposed to be, so reading them that way leads me to this.

>Vertical eye
>Light eye
>Dark eye
>Red eye
>Opposite eye
>Attack the eyes
>Reach for the Big Eye's pupil
>Attack the stars in the background.

Thats the best I got.

You quickly reviewed the notes again, placing them upon each other so that it went down from the first to the fourth piece. It all made so much more sense that way.

You reach forward and touch the Vertical Eye. The Vertical Eye blinks at you in it's alien way. Humans and Wyverians both all had horizontal eyelids. These inhuman things didn't. You were disgusted by it's wet squeezes as it writhed.

Next, you touched the Light Eye. The glowing orb flickered with a flash of warm light, almost like sunshine. Then you poke the Dark Eye. The dim orb mutates, forming over into a crescent shape, like a waning moon.

You prodded the bloody Red Eye and the Opposite Eye, tracking blood across your hand and getting the other to repeat it's normal action as you hear more drops of water from doing it.

Now you drew your greatsword and swung it, striking many of the Eyes and eliciting a blood curdling scream from all around. You felt you needed to do that, and after you did you heard another drop of water. You supposed that signified success in getting closer to solving this puzzle.

Now you reached forward into the Big Eye's Pupil. This time, you did feel something.

That something you felt was solid, like a door handle or something. You tug on it, but it doesn't budge, so you place both hands on the object and yank it hard.

When you do, the Big eye suddenly expands in size to a massive proportion, overtaking everything else in your surroundings! Or were you shrinking and falling down inside the black abyss of it's pupil? You couldn't tell.

All you knew is that you saw the white glint in the pupil getting closer and closer as you fell down a great height....
>>

You fell for what must have felt like miles down in length as that white glint got ever closer. You began to see that it wasn't even one thing, but rather three glowing sources of light you could see. They were simply so far away they were obscured into appearing as a single glow.

Your falling speed begins to slow down, and you now feel like you are falling with a Glider Mantle. Your feet touch down on another invisible platform.

You look up and observe the three things you saw.

One was a horrid form of pulsing flesh matter much resembling some sort of unspeakable homunculi made from a brain and a heart. It's parts were like lungs and veins melded together with the lobe strings of brain. You could see thousands of tiny eyes wiggling in sockets that lined the lobe and veins, like ants you could barely make out on it's form. It had one massive eye that stared into your soul. You felt that this was the supernal eye, the most brilliant of Amygdala's eyes on the inside.

The next was a blinding star with relativistic jets propelling off of it's two pole ends as though it was giving off a gamma ray burst. The coloration and the properties it had and made you feel seemed to signify it being pure Antimatter. You felt your dizziness continue to worsen as you stood exposed to it. It was most assuredly Antimatter.

The last was a weave of white, like a smokescreen or a mist. It felt watery and concealing, as though you could hide in in from the sight of everything.

As you pondered the point of these objects, something came to mind. The third piece of the note you found ended with 'stay your hand, do not reach out for the light.'.

If these things appeared as a glint in the pupil of the Big Eye, which you reached out for, then you've already gotten past this step.

The fourth piece recited 'Stay your hand, do not fight back against the night.'.

What did that mean...?

....

....Death... of course... it was referring to death! The note is trying to convince you not to do anything so you will die from the dizziness onset by Antimatter Frenzy! It made so much sense now! 'Night' could be so synonymous with 'Death' in certain ways when worded!

You had to destroy one of these things! But what destroying one of them would do you did not know, and your blade did not offer more guidance when you prayed to it for some.

You draw your Holy Moonlight Sword to attack!

>Destroy the Supernal Eye Brain.
>Snuff out the Antimatter Pulsar.
>Disperse the Phantasmal Cloak.

>>

>>
Alright, let's actually think about this. What are the net benefits of destroying each? >>4162329 made a good case, which is basically a phase skip. Destroying the Antimatter Pulsar let's us continue the fight without having to worry about disintegrating. What does smashing the brain do?
>>
Anyone?
>>
>>4162421
I'm pretty sure the Pulsar will do something with the frenzy shit, but the brain might be better, it's "the most brilliant of Amygdala's eyes on the inside", it might hamper its ability to lay a smackdown on us or fiddle with its divinity and stuff. It's literally Amygdalas brain we're talking about here.

You couldn't take much more of this exposure to the inner and opaque workings of the entity. You had to get out now and fighting was your key.

You raised the Holy Moonlight Sword and with it summoned up the arcane power of the universe. The blade ignited with power as you stood tall and firm, bloody spears still penetrating their ways out from inside of you as the Supernal Eye's pupil shrunk and it shook to it's core.

"No, no, no, no, no!"

"Stop fighting. It is useless."

"Now that we are here, we will never leave."

"The moment we stepped through, all was written to the end."

"You don't matter. You are nobody. Destiny has elected a fate for you already in this world."

"You will shrivel up to nothing and no one will be the wiser. You won't be remembered, you won't even be buried."

"Yet I am the master of destiny and so I wish to give you an end outside of what already will be. I will remember you, I remember all."

"Every sacrifice has a place in my head. It is a most wondrous unity."

"It matters not that you are nothing and no one to I. Death will come to you regardless, but with us it will mean something."

"Please, put your trinkets away, it is useless. We are outside of Death, we are master of it, we will come back."

"Please, die for me, die for me and let me take you."

"FRACK YOU!" You screamed back at that voiceless voice.

You swung your Holy Moonlight Sword, sending forth a wave of it's shadowy light at the Supernal Eye Brain.

"You will regret this." The Godhead warned you.

You were pulled to your feet then as the covering light you sent out faded away. The Good Hunter and Star helped you up as you were spat out, ejected from the oversoul of Amygdala. The God won't soon again make the mistake of allowing you inside it's being.

The Good Hunter didn't have many left, but he shares a Sedative with you to clear your Cosmic Frenzy away. You thanked him for it with a nod, now ready to continue the struggle.

The playing field was much different now... and that was an understatement. Amygdala has warped reality here in this Nightmare. You see the Cosmos being channeled by it, swirling and churning all around.

"Get ready to get out of the way!" The Good Hunter shouted as he pointed upwards.

You and the Star both looked up in terror at what Amygdala was calling down upon your heads. Meteorites immersed with the energies of the Cosmos!

You would use a Lifepowder to heal everyone, but first you had to evade! If you didn't, those things would spell each of you fainting!

What a banal thought, to think you could ever save yourself from the power of the Cosmos itself.

The Godhead emitted no noise, not even a peep, but you knew it was laughing deep down. Laughing at the effort gone to waste you and your comrades put forth to try and evade the arcane meteorites. It was laughable to such a being.

Anything you and they did was to no avail. The arcane meteorites come crashing down, impacting the galaxy you stood on top of with the others. The radii of arcane power the explosions gave off was too much to safely dodge.

You and your comrades feel your bodies melt to dust, being vaporized from the skin to the bone by the meteorites, and then to nothing...

This failure, this fainting... it was not merely carting, that was too quaint.

This was death. Each of you had just died...

Yet death is not the end just yet.

You, along with The Good Hunter and the Sapphire Star all awaken again. You find yourselves in a small wooden room, one that much resembled the interior of a ship of some kind. There is a trunk nearby which upon peeking inside of you find is full of supplies from your world.

The Good Hunter doesn't pay the trunk any heed unlike you and the Star. He instead walks over to a small stone font that had Messengers inside of it offering Items. You see him crush some red bloody objects in his hand to gain whatever it was he used to buy wares from the Messengers.

You had all your Zenny on you, perhaps you could also buy from the Messengers.

"Uhh.... more for you." The Star says, unwilling to go near the creatures as you explain to him their purpose as helpers from your own experience.

The trunk in the room contained four First Aids, four Rations, two Large Barrel Bombs, four Barrel Bombs and three bundles of Ivy. You go ahead and take the Ivy in case you face anymore Frenzy in the future.

"What is this place? Where are we now?" You ask, looking around the strange chamber.

"Hmm.... I believe... I believe this is the work of Flora." The Good Hunter says, scratching his chin. "It isn't much, but it seems Flora was able to save us from death and create this saferoom here for us in this Nightmare Amygdala made. The Messengers always appear in places where Flora's work is."

"I... am incredibly confused." The Star says.

"It's all just a bad dream, it will be over soon enough so long as you fight." The Good Hunter reassured him.

You have six carts remaining. The Good Hunter and the Sapphire Star both have four carts remaining.

>Take something from the trunk.
>Buy something from the Messengers.

Haul out those barrel bombs, grab the first aid meds, and split the rations among everyone.

Do we have acess to our alternate weapons? Ask if the Sapphire star is any good with ranged weapons. Or edged weapons. Amygdala resists bludgeoning.

Buy a brace of regular throwing knives and poisoned throwing knives for yourself and the star. Poison isnt great against amygdala, but sleep and Para willblet us ruin its day. Buy bloodvials for ourselves, bolt paper for the star and ourselves.

Take a moment to ask the good hunter what exactly the moon light greatsword is a conduit for. Since it appears to be interested in us.

Knives you say?

+[]+ Moonlit Paralysis Throwing Knife +[]+
Fine knife with a serrated blade from Yharnam. The Messengers have covered it with ground up Numbing Mist and applied Parashrooms to it, making it much more effective than the paralysis knives from your world. With the touch of Flora's moonlit blessing upon it as well, it can even temporarily stun a Great one, but to not such a great effect as you might be hoping for. Still, it will work nonetheless. Max carry is 3. Costs 2000 Zenny each.

+[]+ Moonlit Poison Throwing Knife. +[]+
Fine knife with a curved blade from Yharnam. The Messengers have applied Poisoncup solution from your world to the poison already slathering the knife, amplifying it's compound. What is more, Flora has added her venomous saliva to it, granting it the ability to affect even Great Ones, though it will take at least three of the knifes to do the trick. Max carry is 5. Costs 600 Zenny each.

"Everything good?" The Good Hunter asked.

"Righteo." The Star says, pocketing that magazine.

"Yeah." You say, ready.

It was time to return to the battlefield now. You distributed two of your Sedatives to the Star and one of the Bolt Papers you bought before leaving.

He applies it to his hammer, smothering it's golden rims in electricity. The Good Hunter used a phantasmal object from his pocket to light his tricked Greatsword up with arcane power, much like your Holy Moonlight Blade when it was powered up.

You told them that use could be made of the barrel bombs in the room and so passed them out for everyone to take. The Star took the large ones and you and The Good Hunter took the average ones.

Together all three of you exit the door out of the wooden room, bringing your group back out to the Nightmare. When you looked back, there was nothing behind you again. The room you exited was gone, even when you stepped back to make sure.

"Something isn't right..." The Star says.

"Amygdala is gone... but where?" The Good Hunter murmured.

You looked around too, and surely as they said the Great One was out of sight. Where was it?

You saw dust kick up alongside grass at the other side of the field however, it looked just like the last time Amygdala jumped and...

...

Oh no.

HEYAOIURGH!

Just then, the massive deity came crashing down on top of you and the others, detonating the barrel bombs and sending each of you away!

Damn it, you hadn't recounted it's ability to become invisible!

And then following the jump attack, Amygdala waves it's fingers around, gathering particles of black gunpowder still residing in the air and sending them at you and the others. The particles were due to ignite!

Damn it! This Blastscourge would ignite in the next two rounds unless something was done about it! The water over at the Mogan area could put it out.

The Dragonators on the fortress wall were all ready, you know so by the affirmative clicks you hear sounding off from the distant heavy machinery behind the mortar of the wall.

Amygdala was gathering more ethereal power in it's hands, preparing to smash the ground and send off more ethereal eruptions in multiple directions.

"What is this... stuff about me?!" The Good Hunter said in distress, trying to pat the flickering black gunpowder off of his jacket.

"Blastscourge! Roll to get it off!" You say back.

"Underneath the Monster! It's attack will miss us!" The Star pointed out.

Together, each of you rolled across the ground, shaking off the Blastscourge and throwing yourselves into loops as Amygdala raised it's hands with the gathered ethereal essence. By the third roll each of you had converged underneath the long spine of Amygdala before pacing near it's legs.

The deity slammed it's hands down, sending explosions of the essence traveling across the field, but all of them couldn't hit you or the others underneath Amygdala like this.

You crushed both of the Blood Vials into your hip, wincing at the glass shards getting stuck in your side. The Blood Vial's healing Blood worked it's way on you, restoring your health and stamina. The Good Hunter did the same with his own vials while the Star used one of his Max Potions.

Amygdala was nearly about to sweep under itself with all of it's arms, which would have surely caught you and the others, but the Star took the three Moonlit Paralysis Throwing Knives you gave him and hurled them into the chest of the Great One, disabling it from moving as it froze from the shock.

You raised your Holy Moonlight Sword in it's untricked form to unleash a True Charged Slash on it's head as it hung low and in reach!

You swung your Greatsword from side to side, hitting the deity's mangled face and making it spit acid left and right.

Your heavy presses into the ground with each stance you took as you winded up uplifted the dirt and blades of grass as you came around and swung for the big one. Your blade again assumed it's tricked form as the arcane energies returned.

Amygdala moved away, jumping back just you or the others could land another attack. The Great One walks away over to the fortress wall and you see it's arms grapple the head of one of the Dragonators.

You ran forward to make an attempt to stop it before it could do whatever it was doing, but your attempt is cut short when Amygdala rips one of the giant weapons out of the wall and swings it down, batting you away with it like a fly.

You did have some small frame of time to raise your sword for protection, but the blow still sends you flying, all the way through the air, causing you to land on the red rock of the Steppe area.

Amygdala came forth, brandishing the Dragonator it took as a weapon!

Seeing that Amygdala was waving the Dragonator around, your group thought getting closer would be a bad idea, as it could easily brush or sweep you all aside with it like a big sword.

You and the others stayed back, thinking you realized the danger. Truthfully, you didn't. You failed to account for the way Amygdala was wielding the Dragonator, it's hand over the body with the metal end pointed down at the ground, like it was holding a spear....

A spear... or... a Javelin!

It's gaze turned down to the Star who was sheathing his big hammer. It was too late.

Amygdala throws the Dragonator at the Star with thunderous power. The weapon was thrown so hard it broke into pieces upon hitting the ground, creating a crater where it landed. The Star was caught within the impact, and it was too much for even him to handle.

He fainted on the spot... and witnessing the defeat of someone like him, someone you even looked up to didn't bode well for you...

"Over here!" You shouted.

The Good Hunter glanced over and then bailed, sprinting over as you jumped down from the steppe rock and moved underneath it to take cover in it's safe confines.

Amygdala stopped in it's tracks and raised it's head to the sky above, firing it's Antimatter out in a beam that traveled high into the air.

You couldn't place what it was doing exactly until you peeked out and saw the beam splitting into more that flew up before redirecting and falling down to the ground below. You crouched down behind the rock as the Antimatter shots split and pelted the field, exploding in every spot it hit.

Surely this move would have been deadly to you and him, but you made a good call getting under the safety of the rock as it withstood the blasts and shielded you and The Good Hunter from the radii of the explosions. You felt like not even Shageru Magala could get you under this rock.

When the explosions cleared, you looked out and saw Amygdala standing there without moving an inch. Expelling that much energy must have been taxing even for the God.

You had a chance to attack with the Good Hunter!

Over in front of the Mogan area, you see the Star emerge from nowhere, having exited the saferoom to rejoin the fight.

You doubled out from behind the steppe rocks with The Good Hunter as Amygdala was still down.

Rushing forward, you and him both plunged your hands into it's scalp and the thing hissed. You worked your fingers and hand through it's membrane as you reached into it's inner head, fishing out something to grab at.

Then you found what you were aiming for. An eyeball hidden deeply inside the inhuman materials comprising it's form. The orange was bulbous and wet like a fruit from a plant's stem, and it bloated in your palm the further out from the head you dragged it.

It squirmed, rotating with fixated gaze on you. Exposure to it seemed to worsen your Cosmic Frenzy as well.

"It is close now! Soon we will have it back in the Waking World!" The Good Hunter informed.

"I will go all out then! Make way for my oncoming storm!" The Sapphire Star says.

You see the Star kneel down and place both of his hands on his hammer. A blue aura begins slowly building up around him. He might have been preparing to trigger his usage of the so-called 'Transcendent State', which would allow him to brutalize Amygdala when he finished.

Speaking of Amygdala, the Great One was fuming with irritation. It gathered more ethereal essence in it's hands, which it spread out over it's arms.

It takes up position in front of the Misty Peaks area, preparing some sort of jump, or charge. You and The Good Hunter both had it's enmity!

This was the perfect chance to use the Dragonators to fell it again, but it would require either you or The Good Hunter to stand in position for it's next move to make sure it gets to the right place.

The bad news. You carted... er, fainted again.

The good news. The Dragonators hit their mark right after, taking Amygdala down just as you exit the saferoom again.

The Start took this chance now that his Transcendent State was active to charge forward with his power glowing with power. You watched as he went in a rush holding his Hammer up with one hand with the speed of a Nargacuga and jumped up onto the pelvis of the Great One before he ran along it's chiseled and ridged spine.

He hops off of it's chest and the thing bellows a scream out as he takes the Hammer in both hands in the air and comes down on it harder than any of the meteorites the thing could summon up.

"This is it!" The Good Hunter shouts.

The Great One was sent spiraling backwards by the Star's strike, it had to balance itself again using it's many arms.

"Now! Your Holy Moonlight Sword!" The Good Hunter says as he and the Star both stood behind you. He places his hand on your shoulder, as does the Star.

You feel the Transcendent State power the Star radiated spilling off on you as well, strengthening you.

"Use the sword's great potential, it is the only thing that will save us now... from that!" The Good Hunter warned.

You looked ahead and saw Amygdala gathering up Antimatter. It was pooling together more than it had ever before now.

"I can feel that power.... what it is aiming to do?!" The Star asked.

"It is going to destroy the Nightmare! Not even this realm can contain that much power! It plans on taking us with it!" The Good Hunter grievously told you both.

"Now! Use the sword!"

You obeyed, raising the Holy Moonlight Sword and channeling all of the power it drew from the abyssal Cosmos.

In an instant, both you and Amygdala released it both. You slashed down, sending forth all of the Holy Moonlight, and Amygdala shrieked, it's eyes pulsating as it fired the Antimatter forward!

Bravely and collectedly, you put forth all the strength you had as you held the blade aloft and watched it's power unfold to meet and intertwine with the Antimatter of Amygdala.

The spectral lights danced at one another, the luminous eos of the two colliding powers blinding you and the others in it's wake.

You felt this struggle reaching a point at where a climax was not within grasp at any conceivable time ahead. This was locked in place firmly to the point you had a stray thought about how this might even be eternity.

That thought was dense, so you cast it aside as you adjust your focus back to the matter at hand. Maintaining the stalemate.

Though, it seemed now that the Antimatter was fading and Amygdala was too, out of sight.

The lightwave you sent washing forth towards Amygdala overtook the area and sprawled omnidirectionally around, bathing the Nightmare with it's amazing energies. The aurora of the Holy Moonlight dominates this Dream World.

You couldn't right away tell what the end result was.

After the clearing of the aurora, nothing was left of the Nightmare but a void of crawling darkness.

"What happened...?"

"The dream world is unstable." Came the Good Hunter. "This Nightmare is no more, the remnants of it are what you see here. They are fading away and soon we will all be back in the Waking World with Amygdala."

"How much longer will we be stuck in this hell?" The Star asked, unnerved for the third time in his life genuinely.

"Not much longer, we only have to endure now. It should not be... difficult... Flora's power is filling the Holy Moonlight Blade." The Good Hunter says.

"Endure?" You shoot him a look.

"Yes. The Great One withdrew so as to not waste anymore power than it should. We will have to endure now."

The Good Hunter pointed forward with his free hand and you followed his finger.

"Endure that."

That wicked deity chose this moment to emerge from the darkness again, blazing with it's Antimatter.

The Holy Moonlight surged in your hands and the power made your legs weak, made you tremble at the feel! You took heart and kept it up as you placed your hand against the warm arcane blade.

Your companions laid their hands on your shoulders and clenched. Their belief in you being able to protect them was felt.

"You can do this!"

"Don't give up yet!"

"Flora is counting on us! We will save both of our worlds!"

The aurora of the last clash between those mystic powers dissolved the dream world of your own world entirely. The immaterial realm of Amygdala's making was unmade just as easily by the power of the thing, and the mysterious power of the Holy Moonlight Sword.

Your feet lost their place in the void, you didn't feel anything but you knew you just fell backwards onto your side. Though, given how warped everything was now like this, directions didn't matter or most likely exist for that matter. You could be standing up or floating for all you knew.

The Holy Moonlight Sword lost it's magnificent arcane and holy light, drained of all of it's power from everything that just transpired.

"Where are we now?" You spoke out, hoping for an answer.

One did come from the voice of The Good Hunter.

"We are back."

"In the real world?"

"Yes, we are returned to the Waking World."

"Is the thing... dead?" The Star called out.

"No. It still has fight left in it." The Good Hunter said. "All we've seen yet is but a glimpse of the phenomenal strength the thing has. It had thought to kill us without even trying to do so, but now it sees what threat we do pose to it. It will try with intention now, forgoing fancy tricks in favor of direct and grisly force..."

"But fear not, I have had to withstand this terror many times more in my life before than you could even imagine. If I can do it, then you can too. You just have to... soldier on."

Slowly, everything comes back into sight as you fall from the destroyed plane that was previously higher than this one. You smell the typical air of the Recess and see crystals and rock terrain.

"The Confluence of Fates... this is where I slew Xeno'Jiiva." The Star said as he was the first to rise.

You picked yourself up and brushed off before offering The Good Hunter a helping hand as well.

"Exiting the Nightmare has placed us in a location that couldn't be predetermined. Amygdala is out there somewhere else. Now that it is physical, dragged down to the Waking World here and made vulnerable, we can finish it off." The Good Hunter says.

"Is it coming to us?" You asked.

"Yes. We don't have much time before it does find us." The Good Hunter affirmed.

You looked over the wrapped blade of the Holy Moonlight Sword, it was just a plain Greatsword now, but a powerful one even without the arcane light.

You sheath it and turn back to the others.

>Let us head back to a camp and prepare the scouts. Their cannonball and ballista fire will be paramount for fighting the thing here.
>We should head back to camp and send out distress signals to call more Hunters here to help.

"The Royals!" You suggested.

"Teostra and Lunastra?" The Star came back as he whistled for the wingdrakes.

"Yeah." You say, grabbing onto a Mernos as a trio of them descended and picked everyone up. "If they're still around, let's go back to their den and get them caught in the mix. Amygdala should be visible now, shouldn't it?"

"You will be able to see the wretched thing with your naked eyes, but it can still cloak itself when it needs to." The Good Hunter gave a summary.

"Very well, to Teostra and Lunastra's den." The Star said, pressing on.

The lot of you touched down in the Recess proper after leaving the Confluence of Fates, immediately setting off into the crystalline landscape on foot with much haste.

It didn't take long to sprint through the molten areas, eventually finding the way to Teostra and Lunastra's den.

The Good Hunter was not boding well with the conditions, he had never been so close to such heat before in his life, not from a landscape like this....

The Emperor and Empress of Flame were indeed within the den, hiding in fear from the danger that lurked outside.

You and the others got closer. The Good Hunter observed the Elders with his monocule with much interest.

"Such strange animals, almost like lions..."

"Be careful, they are very aggressive Elders who wield fire." The Star says, stepping up in front.

At the sight of your group as they awoke the two Leonid Dragons immediately rose, not taking so kindly to intruders within their domain. The Emperor of Flame stood by silently watching like a protective sentinel, whilst his partner Lunastra slowly strode forward with a low growl.

Normally, the blue Empress attacked on sight while the red Emperor was slower to attack, contrary to the recorded behavior of their species back in the Old World. It seems that the presence of Amygdala has made these two much less bold with their actions.

As Lunastra got a whiff in the air however, she ceased her snarls.

"I... do not have any more of those cakes I use to get them off my back." The Star says.

"So... what do we do then if she gets angry?" You ask, sweat running down your head inside the armor.

"...Mayhaps we'll have to fight them until the creature arrives?"

"I could kill them both easily." The Good Hunter bragged.

"We don't need to fight just yet, she seems docile. Let us watch what happens." The Star lays back a bit on wanting to respond with force.

So the three of you simply stood and watched as the Empress started back on her slow approach with her head a bit higher. Lunastra was approaching faster now with much less care on your group's intrusiveness...

The gap between you and the others and the Lunastra was nearly closed, but the Empress stops dead in her tracks.

The three of you flinched then as Lunastra raised her head higher, her jaw hanging down. The Empress was shaking now, giving out pained noises.

"What...?" The Good Hunter asked.

"I don't know..." The Star says, his position becoming less relaxed.

You took this moment to glance down behind yourself out of curiosity. The dust on the rock behind you and your companions was flowing. For comparison, you looked between it and anywhere else in the molten den, noticing a difference in how the dust was flowing. Everywhere else, it didn't flow...

You tapped your companions on their shoulders and pointed to the anomaly, they were quick to note it as well with some fright.

You saw Teostra becoming increasingly spooked as well in the background. He could sense something.

When you looked back at Lunastra, the Elder was now in an unnatural stance. Both of her front paws left the ground completely. Something was wrong here.

You remembered what that Tonsil Stone you borrowed did, and so pulled it out and held it high.

It reveals much...

BRMWOOOOUUUIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHHH!

There it was standing just behind everyone! Amygdala in it's physical shape!

Lunastra was taken off of her feet, her neck, face and wings all in the unbending grasp of the deity towering over everything else! You saw Amygdala hoist the Empress up with four of it's many arms as you looked up, and then with a stroke of it's powerful limbs, threw her across the den into the hard wall like a prop!

"Out of the way!" The Good Hunter shouts.

Amygdala fluctuated with power shining out of the holes in it's palms and the cavity between it's ribs! Blood spurted from it's holes, circling around it's being as though attracted by an unseen pull. It's limbs were almost translucent with spots you could see ethereal essence shining through from.

"My Insight tells me.... It is even more powerful than in the Dream World now, having fully crossed the gap separating our realities! Flora has less reach in this world, she cannot bring all of her grace to save us, we are all on our own now!" The Good Hunter interpreted his understandings of the situation at hand.

Teostra no longer stood inert at the back.

Seeing his mate treated in such a way by the abomination alights a fire of rage within the Emperor, one so great even that it loses the fear it previously had.

Teostra's entire body is burning, fire coating his coat of scales and mane as he charges forward.

The abomination moved to intercept the Emperor, bringing it's hands down to catch him, but the Emperor would have at least one leg up in this fight even if it meant suicide.

The Emperor came like a spear, igniting explosions as he breathed a trail of fire at Amygdala and rutted it's chest with his horns and claws. For the moment, he had managed, succeeding in tackling the entity down and landing a bite, sinking his fangs into the shoulder of the thing as it squirmed and screeched.

His claws cut the air as he swiped at the flesh of the abomination, drawing it's blood and boiling acid to the wind in streaks.

The thing got a hold of his limbs, restraining him. It's fingers crushed his wings and broke his horns, but the Emperor wasn't done yet.

You and your companions ducked behind a rock as Teostra let out his last resort. The Supernova.

The inferno Teostra released was wider than normal, consuming the entity whole in it's flames....

When the flames subsided, Amygdala and Teostra both came back into sight. Only now, the deity was upright again, and had the Emperor within it's grasp.

The snapping of bone was quick and successive, and you might even have said the death was painless for Teostra as he was crushed by Amygdala and discarded as a corpse.

At present, it seemed that for all it's intellect, Amygdala was too angry to keep track of multiple foes at once despite it's qualities of possessing many arms and eyes. You knew the best thing to do here now was let Lunastra keep most of it's strength away from you and the others while your group came in to deal out consecutive small attacks against Amygdala.

You take one of your Sedatives, clearing away the Cosmic Frenzy. The Good Hunter does as well. The Star doesn't appear as if he'll fare as well against it as you and The Good Hunter do, he had nothing to keep it away with, and there wasn't any Ivy he could use to be found anywhere in the Recess as far as you knew.

The three of you came in as Lunastra charged to ram Amygdala with her crown.

The Empress was caught immediately by the crown and had her face shoved into the dirt, ground along the rock as Amygdala's arms forced her into a fetal position.

You went and picked out an arm to hit, one of it's left ones. You charged a strike up and let it down onto the arm of Amygdala, making the thing flinch back just before The Good Hunter leaped to hit the arm with his tricked Greatsword as well. The Star swung his Hammer with a Power Charge and jumped over a small rise, spinning through the air to come down and pelt the hand and fingers of that arm.

Amygdala lost some of it's grip over Lunastra as it's arms were hit, allowing the Empress to break free momentarily, long enough for her to be able to vent out flames over Amygdala and headbutt with her large crown.

+======+

838 Damage dealt to Amygdala.

+======+

Amygdala wasn't so distracted by the multiple attacks as you thought however. It's hands quickly stir back into play against everyone, allowing it to regain control of the situation.

The hands came quick, brushed the ground up and sweeping you and the others away backwards, and when you tried to run forward again while the others were down, a slap from Amygdala sends you back into the rock.

Amygdala choked Lunastra, it's right arms taking hold of Lunastra's mane, tearing large patches of the hair off of the Elder, making her cry in pain before being silenced as a bolt of Antimatter flies into her throat from Amygdala's face. The explosion within her own body sends her into a fit of twitches and spasms.

She could do nothing as Amygdala uses three of it's arms to suspend her in the air over it's head.

You and the others watched as it's gaze came back to you each of you, and then it heaved! It was going to use Lunastra as a weapon to swat you all with!

The sheer length of Amygdala's arms would allow it to hit at great distance that avoiding this was almost impossible.

You and the Star both sheathed your weapons fast and got a running start, but both of you ran towards Amygdala rather than away, sprinting straight under it's legs and out to it's rear vector.

The Good Hunter does not follow the same protocol. He instead began to roll fast, as fast as he could away. A terrible mistake for him to have made.

You watch as Amygdala swings Lunastra down, sweeping the ground while holding onto her two legs. Her crown came around as The Good Hunter jumped through the air in another roll again, taking him out of it and along with her for the short journey just until Amygdala lets go.

Lunastra rolled into the wall and came to a stop. She was far too exhausted and injured from being manhandled by Amygdala to get up again. The Good Hunter was sent right along with her, crashing into a series of rocks and landing in a puddle of lava.

He begins to fade away, having fainted from the attack. He had only three carts left now.

Amygdala spins around and roars at you and the Star.

>I hear another harrowing roar in the distance. Rajang... He might be out for vengeance against Amygdala. Lets bring the two together and allow them to clash.
>The map once alluded to the presence of a Gajalaka tribe here. Perhaps we can seek them out underground and see if we can enlist their help dealing with Amygdala.

The Star turns tail and goes off like a Kirin, grabbing you by the arm and tugging you along as he ran. And my Gog, this guy could run. He ran so fast he nearly tore your arm off pulling you along as you did your best to keep pace.

Amygdala is beyond enraged. The deity comes after you both on a rampage, swinging it's many arms viciously as it began crawling and running along on it's legs and arms in pursuit. It was bulldozing down everything in it's path, splashing the lava and rock about, reducing the hard materials that made the terrain up into dust in the air with it's swipes and slaps.

It wasn't so slow behind you both like before, it almost had both of you in reach as it outstretched it's two arms to grab you up. You had already entered the Great Crystal Chamber with The Star and you looked over to the ground, spotting your target lying in wait. Crystalburst.

Amygdala's fingers were getting there closer, you could even touch the horrifically formed nails of it's hands if you tried.

You continued running ahead as the Star slid down and collected some Crystalburst, hastily loading it into his slinger as he Amygdala got under what you both needed. He fired some at it's head, and although it didn't flinch Amygdala like it did most Monsters, the Crystalburst got it to turn it's enmity upon him right as he fired some at the giant crystals hanging loosely over it.

Losing all of the leverage and disconnecting, the giant crystals above fell down upon Amygdal, crashing and cracking over the form of the mad god, making it squeal angrily.

Amygdala violently thrashed, clearing all of the broken crystalwork off of itself before it raised it's head up high.

You and the Star both saw it gather Antimatter which it then releases above itself. The Antimatter floats up in the form of a sphere before there is a flash and it splits, spreading out into multiple bolts that fly around and touch down at the every entrance to the Great Crystal Chamber.

It was like Amygdala had just placed mines ready to blow as soon as you stepped on them. There wasn't any escaping this chamber now without taking massive punishment and Cosmic Frenzy for it. You and the Sapphire Star were both trapped in here with Amygdala.

This situation was already dire, everyone in your team doing their best to survive Amygdala. Just how many more tricks does this awful dark god have...?

You thought quickly as Amygdala roared again, pulling out a Lifepowder and using the thing on yourself and the Star, healing you both back to suitable conditions as you sprayed it to the air.

You felt a tingling in your pocket and you realized it was the Tonsil Stone. The artifact was reacting to Amygdala as the deity produced strange sounds. They were like vibrations at first, and then the sound turns into a rasp of some magical noise.

https://vocaroo.com/nPCE1AyNPKq

Your Tonsil Stone became warmer, so you took the thing out and looked it over. The stone has a green glow shining out from it's many holes for a second, but it dies down inside and the stone becomes plain again.

Amygdala must have cast some sort of enchantment over it...

And now, you could no longer see Amygdala. The deity fades from sight, cloaking itself with it's invisibility ability.

You and the Star both huddled together for the moment, staying on the look out for anything, but neither of you saw movement. There was no shifting of the crystal shards and splinters all over, no sound, nothing...

Neither of you saw it coming.

Amygdala's hands come out of nowhere from behind, grabbing both of you up like dolls before smashing you and the Star into the ground. The impact left both of you dazed, only able to crawl away slowly to try and get away.

It wasn't enough of course. You can barely make the entity out now, but you saw it clearly raise it's many hands together as clenched fists above, neither of you could do anything now as it brought them all down at once.

The impact sparked a flash of ethereal essence, a wide rupture of it with two pillars of the ghostly power shooting up from the back of Amygdala's hands, tearing through the ceiling above as you and the Star were uplifted by it and overwhelmed.

The attack was too much, both of you ended up being torn apart by it as The Good Hunter could do nothing but watch from behind the mine he stood near.

Once more in your life, you come back to reality when you end up in the dirt again, being flung off a cart by the Life Insurance Felynes. This time was a bit different, because you found yourself being towed alongside the best Hunter in Astera as well. Though, the Life Insurance Felynes don't drop him, rather they all set him down gently. Buggers...

"Sirs!"

You got up with a groan as the Pukei Hunter approached you and the Star.

"Sirs, w-w-we've been preparing some heavy f-f-firepower to assist in the field, sirs"

He motioned both of you over to what the rest of the scouts were doing. They were making some humongous cast iron object in the shape of a cylinder ready. It was like a comically oversized cooking pot on wheels and supports.

"I-I-I-I-Its a mortar, sirs, we can load four MEGA barrel bombs w-w-worth of gunpowder inside of it! The blast is deadly even for Elder Dragons, sirs! It has e-e-enough range to shoot from one sector to the other!"

Just then, The Good Hunter taps your shoulder from behind, spooking everyone at the scene. It appears he carted like you both did, again.

"Where should we put it?"

Hmm... getting Amygdala preoccupied in one sector above ground and then firing that at it from another could be useful.

The lava lakes presented a fantastic opportunity to get a leg up over Amygdala. The magma would wash it away if it exerted enough pressure there. It's overpowering physique would cause all sorts of instabilities there.

That was where you and the others headed next. Yet as you exited the camp, all of you had to sprint forward and dive immediately. Amygdala was close to the camp and had just jumped again to try and crush everyone.

The scouts noticed what was going on and froze in fear, yet thankfully they could not see Amygdala due to the deity remaining invisible.

The thing chases your group again, and you are all forced to take another route to reach the lava lakes. It's Antimatter mines remained where they were at the Great Crystal Chamber, effectively locking that central sector off completely.

By the time your group did reach the lava lakes, you all came to find the place was already stirring with unstable pockets of gas being released, sending lava upwards.

As you all headed to the back, Amygdala stepped in on it's rampage. The strength of the creature did not bode well here, and a current of the magma ejects from one of the pockets as a result, washing over Amygdala.

The heat and the lava in no real way served any purpose other than tripping Amygdala. It's body was completely resistant to the heat, though the weight of the molten materials kept it down.

It provided a window for a team attack on one of it's body parts!

Amygdala's eyes grew out of it's face in clusters, protruding from between the cage-like graft as it brushed itself off to remove the magma.

Each of you were at it's level and didn't let the opportunity for striking it go to waste.

You came forward with a True Charged Slash, the Star followed up with his Big Bang combo whilst The Good Hunter used his Phantasm on his tricked Greatsword and charged his own thrust, following it up with a heavy overhead slash.

Amygdala screeched as it's eyes were hit, many of them exploding from the combined assault into the icky orange fluid that filled them.

The thing was becoming progressively tired of your group's livelihood, shaking off the magma and letting it fall down upon you and the others. It burned white hot, increased in heat by contact with the Great One, but your armors helped save each of you from it long enough to get out safely and run into the next lake.

In the next lake over the three of you stopped. Up ahead and across the small gap of lava you saw it, Savage Deviljho. The ravenous creature was feasting on a pack of Gastodons it had killed. It finished quickly.

"What in the name of all that is holy is that thing...?" The Good Hunter said, allured by the sight of it.

"Deviljho. Monsters with bottomless pits as stomachs, they eat nearly everything they see that moves. This one is Savage from being starved, it would even eat it's own kind in this state to survive." The Star says.

"And on top of that all, they have far more use over Dragon Element. You remember that black and red power the Cleric Beast had? These things spit it." You say bitterly of Deviljho.

"I can only wonder just how many more awful creatures like these exist in your world... I've never seen anything like it. I'm glad they're not in mine..."

"Speaking of your world..."

Amygdala charged into the area and gave out a roar. The three of you backed away while the Savage Deviljho took notice. Unlike Teostra and Lunastra, Savage Deviljho was not afraid of Amygdala, rather standing up and roaring back in response. The only difference it displayed in contrast to how it normally acted was it standing it's ground rather than charging over for a confrontation immediately.

Amygdala took the honor of doing that.

Savage Deviljho let out a vent of it's Dragon Element breath at Amygdala as the Great One strode over, and while it did in fact hurt the being, it wasn't enough to stop it wholesale from getting all of it's hands over Deviljho.

That cannibalistic pickle was manhandled, Amygdala's hands taking hold of it's ankles, neck, head and jaws. It almost seemed like Amygdala was using it like a... like a Bowgun!

Holy shite! IT WAS!

Amygdala was forcing Savage Deviljho to exhaust it's Dragon Element out in what seemed like an unending venting of it! It came closer slowly on both of it's feet and one hand. That black and red cloud coming from Savage Deviljho's throat almost blocked you and the others in completely!

Something had to be done here!

>Try and call upon the power of the Holy Moonlight once again!

"Hey, Goldielocks." You say to the Star.

"Can you use your tra-..." You coughed. Of course, damn hex Zuhramon placed on you wouldn't let you discuss things related to the Ancients. "Can you do that thing you did again? That thing that makes you all blue and super strong?"

"I should be able to use my... ability again, yes. While powerful indeed, it won't do much here however I fear."

"That isn't what I need you to use it for."

"What do you mean?"

"Throw me."

"Huh?!"

"You heard me, use that stuff and throw me over to it's head!

The Star stared at you blankly for a moment as though you were out of your mind before he looked back at the encroaching cloud of Dragon Element. He contemplated it for a moment, but then he comes to a decision quickly.

"Draw your Greatsword." The Star tells you.

It was your turn to give him that same look now, but you complied much faster.

"Now, swing it at me with a side slash." The Star ordered.

"Wha...? Swing it.. at you?"

"Just do it."

"....Fine..."

The Good Hunter stood back, the Star remained in place. You obeyed his directive, winding up with your Greatsword before releasing it in a precise slash sideways, swinging at the Star.

Immediately, his body exploded with that Transcendent State power, cracking the ground he stood on as his hands both shot forward and grabbed the blade of your Holy Moonlight Sword. You were taken by surprise, but you never let go, not even as he begins to swing around, taking you off of your feet as he spun rapidly in place like he normally did when he swung his Hammer.

With a big motion from both of his arms, he lets go, sending you flying through the air! You went up over and above the Savage Deviljho, sailing right down at the head of the Great One!

With your right hand alone, you bring the blade down, slicing right through the membrane on the top of Amygdala's head, staggering the Great One and causing it to lose control of the Savage Deviljho!

With the Great One's hold over it loosened, Savage Deviljho was able to break free of it's arms. The ravenous creature comes around, snapping the thin neck of Amygdala and jerking it off it's feet.

You fell down into the middle of it, sliding down Amygdala's back and getting off to the ground nicely enough as Deviljho stepped over you.

The violent world eater pushed Amygdala back, throwing the Great one to the ground before it let out the rest of it's Dragon Element vent down onto the deity. There was a significant buildup of the Element, but so much of it overflowing in one space all at once created a dangerous chain reaction within the thick cloud of it. The red lightning that was signature of Dragon Element sparked out of control, and then there an explosion that went off in the center, igniting all of the dark cloud.

Thankfully, you were out of the zone of the ensuing blast.

When most of the explosion's smoke was finally cleared after, you saw Savage Deviljho get sent back, a smack from Amygdala to it's face almost blowing it off it's feet. Many of it's teeth and face spikes are snapped right off as well.

You were shocked to see that Savage Deviljho actually retreat right after without making any further attempts to fight. But you were more horrified at what Amygdala did next....

Reaching around it's own body length, the Great One grabs the bases of two of it's arms, and then tears them right off! Blood washes out from the stumps where those arms were previously like a dam releasing it's held sum of water!

It was standing over you, holding those arms like clubs. This thing wanted you all dead so much that it was willing to mutilate itself just to get more methods for killing! You weren't even sure it felt pain anymore....

With those arms as clubs for it to use now, it's reach was unparalleled.

What will you do now?!

Thinking fast, you pulled a Flash Pod and fired it at the ground before running past Amygdala. The Star and The Good Hunter did not fall far behind. Amygdala was stunned, but not for long, it's eyes quickly overcame the flash. Your group got more time to run freely away as Amygdala rather sat and pondered for the second what that was exactly.

It shakes the thoughts away as it turns to continue it's pursuit, now walking at an even faster pace than before.

"Where should we go?" Came The Good Hunter from the side.

"Freelancer, any suggestions?"

"To the camp, we should rig the mortar to fire." You say.

"Good idea."

"....There's something up ahead." The Good Hunter alerted you both.

The three of you slowed down to a stop there upon arriving in the smaller crystal field. The tall vine wall all of you would need to climb was up ahead, but there was something in your way.

Rajang... The ape's fur was perpetually golden...

"Oh dear, here it comes." The Star said.

"'Here it comes'?" You questioned, on edge seeing that ape again.

Rajang slams it's fists into the ground, golden electricity crackling over the golden fur on it's back, which stood tall as it rose and looked up. It's expression was crazed, death and wrath the only thing on it's mind at this instant.

It stands up....

...and unleashes a roar most primal!

Rocks were uplifted as it's lightning flared off of it's body and muscles! It's searing anger and power was made known all across the Recess!

Yet, it was not looking to you nor your allies with it's angry eye, but rather the Great One you now found standing behind you and the others. You took this moment to get them moving again, hurrying off to the sides as Amygdala and Rajang both shrieked and roared at one another...

Then they fought.

Rajang plunged it's fingers into the ground below, and to your horror and amazement, you witnessed it tear out a chunk of Gaea. The slab of the earth it held up above it's head was several times larger than it.

It throws the massive chunk at Amygdala, and the Great One blocks with it's arm clubs, but still ends it getting pushed back. Rajang didn't let up, leaping forward into the air after with it's fist glowing red hot with thunder sparkling over it.

Rajang punched the boulder, sending lightning coursing through it, blowing the whole thing to dust! That crazy ape's punch went right through, all the way into Amygdala's head, hitting the deity with such strength it loses balance and falls to it's spine.

Rajang was buffeted, being struck by the arm club of Amygdala and sent tumbling backwards, but that wasn't enough to quell the rage of the Fanged Beast, who simply got up and charged again. It was met with the same result several times until Amygdala was able to rise up and reach forward, grabbing Rajang up by it's chest.

Before, it might've been able to easily handle the moneky with one arm, but Rajang's muscles were swelling with power in it's Furious state. The ape pried Amygdala's fingers off, and then you see it grab one. Amygdala shrieks as that finger is torn clean off, forcing it to throw Rajang down.

Their fight was not over yet however, both of the Monsters called on their power, and lock into a clash of their beams. Rajang's lightning breath collided with Amygdala's Antimatter laser!

But properties are still properties. The Antimatter eventually worked it's way straight through the lightning, beating out Rajang in the end and covering the beast in multiple glowing spots. There are nearly a dozen Antimatter explosions that go off right on it's skin and golden fur.

Rajang, being so furiously strong, endures, but is now exhausted and completely susceptible to Amygdala now as the Great One prepares it's arms.

Preparing better was imperative for surviving the remainder of this fight. You and the Star both went on your ways out, climbing the vine wall to leave as Amygdala and Rajang went back at it with each other.

Yet both of you are not followed by your third. As you ran off to camp, The Good Hunter stuck around to watch.

Amygdala and Rajang both brawled with the Great one getting the upper hand easily. Beams and balls of lightning were spewed all around together with bolts of Antimatter. Rajang throws another boulder, Amygdala swats it around with it's arm clubs.

When the Great One is brought to it's boiling point, it's hand shoots forward, grabbing Rajang by it's neck and horns. The ape is swung around, slammed into every surface there was nearby until it could barely twitch it's arms, and then when Amygdala is finished battering it, the Great One swings it's arm up, throwing Rajang away into the air, all the way across the Recess to another sector.

It's bulging eyes fixate upon The Good Hunter then and the Great One snarls. Amygdala shares history with him, the two have fought equally more than once before. But without Flora being able to bring her full power to help The Good Hunter, this time was much different. He was an ant to Amygdala now.

He is tired, but he will hold it back as he can.

The Good Hunter used...

Standing still was enough to make the Great One stride forward, coming closer to The Good Hunter with it's hands outspread.

The Good Hunter knew what was bound to happen from doing this, but he felt no fear. Flora wouldn't let him die, nor the others. Those two amiable fellows, he trusted they could finish without him, even hard as the job was. This was their world after all, and their Hunt.

He pulled an object from his pants pockets, a deteriorated hand and forearm. It was smothered in cobweb and two humanoid skulls much too tiny to be average.

It hummed with a lamenting of the wrathful spirits it could summon, made physical by blood it leaked with.

And so he broke the object and threw his hands out, unleashing a torrent of the ghosts at Amygdala's head!

The wrathful spirits flew like missiles in a barrage at Amygdala's head, the blood composing them tainting the flesh of the Great One's incarnation. It was sour to the touch from the wrathful energies the spirits carried, harming Amygdala even as the Great One was vastly immune to blood.

The Good Hunter was in no short supply either, continuously firing the spirits as he sacrificed more and more of his blood in order to keep the torrent going.

Amygdala slowed from sustaining volley after volley, but powered through as it could until it was able to get close enough that it managed to grab The Good Hunter, who by then was nearly dead from overuse of the tool once again.

But one hand of his was loose from the grip of Amygdala, and when the Great One brings him near it's head, he plunges his free hand into it's face, crushing a cluster of it's smaller eyeballs.

The deity squeezed down on him for that, rendering him incapable of fighting any longer.

You sort of sensed it when you and the Star realized The Good Hunter wasn't behind you both that he wasn't going to be able to help anymore. If he fainted, he would pop back up here in the camp through means eluding your knowledge just like before, but this time he didn't show up again.

It was up to you and the Star now only.

Amygdala would be making it's way to you both soon. It wasn't afraid to actually invade the camp unlike most Monsters out there. It could endanger all these other Scouts and helpers here...

Keeping the mortar stationary was wiser. Amygdala didn't seem to be abusing it's ability to become invisible anymore, the scouts would have a clear shot at it as it approached over the horizon, there wasn't any way they could possibly miss with how giant it was.

You and the Star kept them here waiting at the camp for what was inevitable.

Over the distance, you see the giant figure of Amygdala emerge and the scouts do as well. They recoiled in fear at it's unsightly appearance and the Star was hard pressed to keep them composed with his words. They wanted to all leave and run away in fear right then and there, made progressively more dissuaded as they saw the blood spewing from Amygdala's back, but the Star reassuring them it would all turn out just fine was enough to stay their feet and keep them there.

You stood at the base of the camp waiting for Amygdala to come into range, and when you saw it get close enough you shouted, signaling them to fire. The scouts adjusted the mortar and then lit it's fuses. The bang of it's firing was thunderously loud, and powerful enough that the mortar's shell was slightly damaged by it.

It's projectile was flaming and went right down on Amygdala. The cluster of explosives that made it up exploded upon landing on the Great One's back, unleashing a shock wave and gust of flames that consumed the local area. The Scouts bailed immediately after, fleeing to the opening to the mines just behind the camp, getting out to safety.

Amygdala was stunned by it, lowering it's head. This was the perfect chance to attack alongside the Star!

Striding forth, you approach Amygdala's head with haste and reel back with your greatsword, swinging into it and sending specks of it's blood, acid and orange fluid flying with the first and second strikes.

When you raise your Greatsword for the last strike, it hums back to life with it's Holy Moonlight, allowing you to hit the Great One with the power of the Cosmos in a sudden burst of Lightwaves as you deliver the last swing.

Amygdala jumps back upon recovering.

Though the damage you just dealt was massive, the Great One returns with it's own flurry, hitting both you and the Star as it swung it's arm clubs around, beating both of you back and forth with almost no way to get up.

Those hits it gave with it's clubs were insanely strong, even more so than the actual hands of the Entity.

This was a tight spot. Amygdala was about to attack with them again in this closed space. You saw it raise one of it's back arms with Antimatter glowing on the palm, it was preparing another Frenzy attack.

>Try to block with your blade as you can, and then unleash the Holy Moonlight Sword's ultimate.

So you rolled forward and let yourself collapse down to the ground as Amygdala swung those arms it held again. The Star was hit, but he endured long enough that you were able to time your next roll and avoid the arms again.

Now under the feet of Amygdala, you raised the Holy Moonlight Blade. It snaked it's charged arm down to try and grab you, but you were faster, shoving the blade down and embedding it into the stone.

It let loose a bubble of it's arcane power all around Amygdala's legs, making the Great One fall to a split. You stepped out of the way easily due to how thin it's long spine was.

It was at this moment the Star decided to do something risky....

You were shocked then as he produced another glow, the same as the one he usually had when he used his Transcendent State, only far brighter. His aura was powerful, you could feel it in it's entirety, it was a mighty feeling indeed.

The Star raised his Hammer with one hand.

"Enough of this! This ends now!"

You could only watch as he strode forward towards the downed Great One. Amygdala felt that power as well, and from the sounds it made watching him approach, you thought even that wicked and twisted deity was taken back by it, utterly speechless to see such power being wielded by a mortal man.

And then he raised his Hammer. You scrambled to stand back as you watched it all unfold.

He swung, and Amygdala went backwards!

The strike was packed with such force that the Great One was made disoriented by it, falling back yards away with it's limbs only making sporadic twitches!

This was the Star's true potency. That flame he had around him burned brighter than the sun.

And then it fades away just as soon as it came. The Star falls to his knee, exhausted of all his strength tapping into that power.

Now, you truly understood why they called this hero a Star. That strike he delivered was immeasurably powerful. Though, he was now left defenseless as a result.

It was Amygdala's turn to act now. This time the Great One used it's last resort, discarding it's clubs and raising it's arms to the sky.

The skyline brightened, looking as though it was on fire now as the Great One summoned power from all around. Blood came to it from the air, along with all the ethereal essence it could find.

The ground beneath your feet began to rumble, and soon enough there was a quake shaking all the Recess. The entire region was vibrating violently from Amygdala's power manifesting and increasing here in the real world.

It shrieks to air, splitting the barriers over sound and deafening you. The scream it bellowed sent you flying back into the dirt even as it wildly and aimlessly fired Antimatter out from it's head to the sky, it was practically leaking horrible power from every point it could out of it's body!

The Star does what he can, standing up. He looks over to you and raises his hand.

"RUN! I WILL HOLD IT OFF!"

You shakily get back to your feet and drift away. You didn't want to leave him here.

He picked his Hammer up and ran forward as Amygdala lowered it's head. You saw him hit it... and his strike bounces off! The power Amygdala was giving off was too much... the deity was invincible now!

He tries to attack it again, and again, and similarly to no effect. You watch as he is taken up in it's hand, and then overloaded with Antimatter....

+======+

The Sapphire Star has been eliminated from the quest.

+======+

With him crushed and out of the way, Amygdala turns it's attention back to you. You hear it gurgle these sick noises, it sounded like laughter...

You do the only thing you are able to now, the thing you should have did already.

RUN.

The chase was distressing, that hulking invulnerable deity was right behind you at all times. It was ready to snap you like a twig in it's hands when it finally caught you with one of those arms.

But leaning on that premise only spurred you to move faster. You ran as fast as you could, going a way you saw through mining grounds and back into a volcanic area. You saw Brachydios and Uragaan on the way, but both try to flee along with you as Amygdala comes through on it's stampede. The Great One doesn't spare either of those slower Monsters, taking them with it's arms and ripping them asunder easily .

Stamina was running out faster the farther you ran through the volcanic landscape, leaving you with no choice now but to consume a copious amount of your Energy Drinks to keep yourself on the run.

Through crystal, through crags and up the rocks you went, Amygdala wasn't losing sight of you. You only had three Energy Drinks now as you climbed fast. Maybe climbing up here wasn't the brightest idea, Amygdala was far more expertise in climbing than you were.

Your hope is fading of losing the thing as you run into the premises of the abandoned Kushala Daora nest here in the Recess. You stop just before you run off the edge and look down far below. The height that awaited you would be fatal, potentially life-ending if you were to jump it. You didn't have a functioning Glider Mantle either, it was dire.

You turned and saw that colossal God standing there. It takes a step forward, and you take a step backwards, almost falling off the edge until you catch your balance.

Shivering, you could only watch as that towering entity came closer... and closer... before stopping....

Reaching into your bag, you quickly extracted the yellow bottle of an Ancient Potion and bit the cup off, drinking the substance inside down before throwing the emptied glass aside.

The Great One ahead came charging, but you ran to the side, climbing up a rock face to get to a higher ledge as the deity turned, hissing with fury. You didn't let it's inhumanity get to you any longer, you were not disturbed by it's otherwordly features. You were resolved now as the only one left to fight this horror!

You raised the Holy Moonlight Sword as Amygdala crawled near and grabbed the rise you stood on. The Great One picked itself up and as it's head rose to where you were, fired a beam of Antimatter out.

You reacted fast to it, anticipating such a move, bringing your Greatsword's large blade down to block it. The abyssal power surrounding the Holy Moonlight Sword deflects the Antimatter back at Amygdala, though it had little effect. With the Great One's body so weakened now, it may not be able to call upon it's true power, and as such heightening your chances to finish it off.

It's head was exposed, and so you raised the blade again and swung it forward to take the shot you had!

The Holy Moonlight Sword exploded forth with another massive wave of it's energies, the light coursing out surging in increasing tensity that proved difficult for you to control. You felt your feet begin to slide as it expended every last drop of it's holy light.

Amygdala was blasted back by the storm of energy you sent out to it! It was felled by the attack and writhed on the cold rock below as your blade calmed to a stop. All of the arcane power was gone now, completely spent, the well of it was dry and the Holy Moonlight Sword didn't seem to be able to channel anymore. You would be left with it this way for the rest of the fight.

Amygdala stands up on the circular rise in the middle of the Kushala Daora nest. The weakened Great One raised all of it's hands to the sky to use it's last reserves of power now as well!

The surroundings did not warp entirely, but you see a dimmer reflection of the Cosmos swirling around, being called forth by the wicked deity, whose body now began to burn brightly with insidious and phenomenal cosmic power like a star entering it's death phase.

Rays of light came forth from spots all over the body of the Great One.

It was summoning meteorites from space to fall through the atmosphere, right down to Earth here in order to kill you for good!

One by one, at a speed that almost seemed like light, the meteorites Amygdala called forth came crashing down into the bed of the Kushala Daora nest, emitting widespread bursts of arcane energy that could have incinerated you easily.

The entire nest and the small mountainous rise it was based on was rocked by the force of the meteorite impacts. It was threatening to collapse entirely, but it held together miraculously.

You were able to evade the meteorite shower by looking at where they were most likely to land and then calculating distances as best as you could in your head. You didn't panic, and before you knew it, it was all over.

The meteorites remained where they crash landed. They were quite large and tall, still smoking with arcane mists.

You were standing behind Amygdala. The Great One didn't move, it only looked up to the sky and raised it's hands again. Though, you could not see it calling forth anything else despite the Cosmos around still swirling transparently.

It was in a vulnerable spot now.

You could make over as fast as you can now if you'd like. It's weak points were right there, for the taking! You could attack the head and finish this all off!

You looked around curiously, keeping your vision trained at the sky above. Yet, nothing was to be seen as you walked, trekking over to the closest fallen meteorite.

You looked up at Amygdala. The Great One seemed frozen in place like a statue. It was disturbing, but you held fast as you watched from behind a meteorite.

Then, there was a twitch from the fingers of the Great One. And then it came, it's final cry.

Amygdala screeched to the air, splitting your eardrums and exerting a force you could not fight back against. It was like a storm, much stronger than anything even an Amatsu could stir up.

You were forced to remain behind the meteorite you chose as it came.

You looked at your surroundings with horror. They were blinking through thousands of variations and forms you didn't recognize, most being downright revolting. You picked up new temperatures, new smells. Your ears rung!

You didn't know what was happening. There wasn't any telling if this was your reality being warped, or your perception being trifled with.

You peeked out, wanting to know what was going on, and you saw that great glowing God moving again.

Can we let her down easy, like >>4176132 suggests?
>>
>>4176160
>>4175783
Letting her down easy isn't really what I was going for.

Flora being nothing but helpful to us doesn't change the way she has acts to people who AREN'T useful to her.

I just feel we should just be as respectful as we can.
>>
>>4176160

Even though Flora seems more agreeable than Amygdala, they're both still eldritch horrors at the end of the day, sadly.

Though one may be benevolent, they're still so far above the mundane that they can't really rule or exist in the material plane without things going apeshit. Their mindset is also so alien that even if one has nothing but the best intentions, it may still end up doing great harm to anything it touches.
>>
>>4176189
Kho was downright benevolent even.

Look how that ended up.
>>
>>4175783
Perhaps it should be.

>I have no doubt you would be a more powerful and benevolent (being a resource is better than being a pest) god than the ancestral dragon.
>It is a shame then, that allowing you into our world would be the first step to destroying it.

"I'm sorry... but... I must refuse." You state, stepping forward.

As you walked ever close to the door, the Moon begins to change it's hue, becoming ever more bloodier and brighter as you strode forward.

The door was unlocked, you would have only needed to push it open for Flora to enter as she wanted. It has a lock on it. You instead latch it.

And with that, her world was sealed off for good. There was no entering the Hunter's Dream anymore.

"Your intentions may be good, I'd hope, and you may be more ideal and powerful than the Ancestor, but I've seen what your world is like, and I know that letting you in would lead to disasters building up, one after the other. I can't take that chance, even as much as you've helped me for helping you."

You stepped back.

"Goodbye." You say.

The Moon, for how dense it seemed with blood red light, wasn't angry for you turning it down. Instead, it seemed... sorrowful, as if giving off despair.

All around you, the blackness leaves, and you find yourself slowly coming back to the Elder's Recess, to the abandoned Kushala Daora nest where you previously were.

As you came back out of that vision at the edge of the world, you snapped in pain.

"GRAHK!" You spewed under your helmet.

Your joints became locked and your skeleton ached with pain. Your flesh felt boiling, as though it was disintegrating at this waking moment under your suit. You felt your blood rush fast, leaking in some places from wounds that had opened. You were still experiencing all of the pain Amygdala's final attack set on.

And after a while, it finally vanishes and you are able to move again, falling to your knee, gasping for breath.

"I am defeated by a son of man again."

You looked up, seeing that colossal deity collapsed just like you. It's body was smoking, presumably burnt by it's own attack. It was in such critical condition now that there was no recovery for it, it's body would wither and die in time.

"My chance to be free is misspent... now I can only return to the binding laws of the superior, the Formless One, We all seek to escape from."

You slowly drag yourself back to your feet. You look down and see your Holy Moonlight Blade. It looks... dead.

"Go on. I have no more to say to you. Give this coil salvation."

You pick your sword up.

Striding forward, you raise your silent greatsword before bringing it down on the Great One's head, burying it deep within the horrible inhuman membrane.

Amygdala's body twitches, and then gradually it's eyes shut and fade. It's body has died, and it's being has returned to it's own world, back to the inconceivable planes far above others....

Victory... sweet victory and relief after the battle. You immediately down two Mega Potions to rejuvenate yourself enough as you lean on your blade and catch a breather.

You've done it... you finished this long and hard fight against a veritable living God of the stars in the flesh. The service you and your companions did is invaluable to the Commission and the world at large.

You didn't let anything you could scrounge up go to waste either. The body of the Great One was massive, and so provided a bountiful load of carves for you.

You obtain Amygdalan Claws, Amygdalan Sinew, Amygdalan Cosmic Membrane, Amygdalan Enchanted Flesh and an Amygdalan Plate, even a Great One Gem.

You feel pride in being the one to land the killing blow, the words the Star gave you remained reverberating in your head.

Today was a good Hunt.
>>
You left the spot soon after finishing Amygdala off and traveled back to the camp where you started out at. The scouts had came out of hiding from the mines by the time you got back, and to your surprise, you found both the Star and The Good Hunter waiting there for you as well.

Your comrades welcomed you with open arms as you strolled in. They waited there for the good news, and were relieved to hear it when you tell them that the job was done. Amygdala was no more.

The Pukei Hunter and the scouts were all amazed to hear that as well. They take over now that the Recess is safe again, saying that they will handle the deed of securing the Great One's body in the meantime.

That was your queue to pack it up now. It was time to return to Astera and share the good news.

Calling for Wingdrakes, you, the Star and The Good Hunter all got on your ways...
>>
The three of you arrived in Astera to be greeted by many Hunters and onlookers cheering, all joyous to see the three of you back in one piece.

Among those near where the three of you landed was the Admiral and Commander, along with some friends and many other Hunters gathering around. The Commander and Admiral both pull The Good Hunter to the side, asking him over to their table for a discussion. You saw a third figure there at the table through gaps in the crowd, but you couldn't really recognize who it was so well. All note is that third figure handing off something to the Commander before stepping away.

You and the Star meanwhile were both smothered with cheers and congratulations as the Hunters all around guffawed and confabulated endlessly over an ominous 'red flash in the sky' they all saw. That last attack Amygdala gave out might have been what they saw. You're shocked to know it was felt all the way here even.

From the side, you are nearly tackled to the ground as both Atricia and Vivianne suddenly ran into you with a hug through the crowd, exclaiming to you the worries they had when they witnessed the flash, and felt tremors here all the way from the Recess.

And if things couldn't get any better, you feel a firm hand grab your shoulder from behind suddenly.

"Well done... Comrade."

You turn with much surprise to see it is Brigg. He's made a full recovery! It makes you feel comfortable knowing you have this many friends who care about you, where as previously in the Old World even you've only ever had one or two real friends.

"Cheers mates!" The Star declares. "For the glory of the Guild!"

The crowd breaks down into another round of applause. The Star nods at you. "We've had our share of work for today."

"Alright, everyone, gather around." The Commander suddenly called out.

"Let's receive our trophies." The Star tells you, beginning to walk over that way.

You follow.

"Hmm..."

The Commander signed a slip of paper he had, handing it off to a Researcher to take the Chief Ecologist.

The aged officer breathes in deeply before exhaling and looking the crowd over with confident eyes.

"Everyone, today was a bigger day than I could have ever expected to come to us."

There is some small chatter.

"You, three, step forward."

You, the Star and The Good Hunter all step forward in front of the crowd.

"I can't thank you enough for slaying that thing in the Recess today that appeared." The Commander says before nodding and then looking back to the crowd.

"Just a while ago, one of the scouts we sent out to the Recess returned with a summary for us and the Researchers about what has been going on there today. We've gotten details about the battle these three fought against the unknown Monster, and what it was like for them to fight it."

"On top of that, I've been given more information on it by our guest himself. The talk I had with the Guild Representative just now has given us an understanding. With his approval and what our guest has told us, we're officially recognizing this Monster under the name 'Amygdala' and the Elder Dragon classification."

"What's more, the Guild Representative has seen fit to allow us to give the Monster one more category classification he believes it fits in most. The Guild will, from this moment onward, officially consider 'Amygdala' a Dangerous First-Class Monster, which is something even I didn't know existed until just now."

The crowd is amazed to hear that, there is talk instantly and gossip about what everyone is hearing. You are certainly also interested hearing this.

"From what I heard, and I'm anticipating hearing more later, Dangerous First-Class Monsters are easily the most powerful and threatening Monsters the Guild has ever recorded. If it were not brought down by these three, there is no telling what might have happened to the New World, and possibly even beyond..."
>>
"So, that being said... I'd like to present our three victors of today with these awards given to me by the Guild Representative."

The Commander gives something over to the Field Team Leader, who steps down to distribute them to you and your partners.

"For your efforts of unbridled courage in the field, and the astounding accomplishment you've all achieved here today for the Research Commission and the Hunter's Guild, I present the three of you with the highest level commendation that exists. The Grand Guild Commendation."

You look over the Commendation you received. This is an item given only to the most honorable and unbreakable of Hunters...

The crowd releases it's loudest set of cheers yet.

+=====+

You have received a Grand Guild Commendation, the most important award available.

You may turn this extravagant ticket in for a variety of rewards or gifts such as...

- A free complete set of armor provided you've the materials.
- A free weapon, also provided you've the materials.
- A 400000 Zenny reward.
- The privilege to move into and own a higher tier suite in either Astera or Seliana.

+=====+

"Hm. I've no use for it... but I will keep it." The Good Hunter says, stuffing his own Commendation into his pocket. "I'll remember this world by it."

"Ahh, now this is about the second of these I've ever earned. There is no better moment in a Hunter's life." The Sapphire Star mused.

"I.... wow..." Is all you had as you held your ticket.

"Once again, thank you all for what you've done. You may have your rest now." The Commander dismissed your group.

It was truly over, the threat of Amygdala was taken care of, and both worlds were at balance again. You could take a well earned breather now. You could mayhaps call for a feast to be thrown in celebration, or see The Good Hunter off back to his world.

What do you wish to do now?

You left the cheering crowd, slipping out to the side as you followed The Good Hunter when he began to walk off. You guessed it was time now to say your goodbye now that his world was sealed off for good.

He stops in front of your room and looks back at you.

"You know, I think I just will miss this place."

"Why not stay?" You asked, knowing well the condition of his world.

"Heheh, seems like a fun idea, but I cannot just abandon my world so easily. I've gotten all too familiar with the way things are, I wouldn't fit here. Besides, there is work to be done in my world, and only I can do it."

You nod in understanding. You weren't about to deny him return to his home if it was what he willed.

"But wait," You started. "Your world is sealed off now, for good."

"Hmm?"

"Flora appeared to me asking to help let her in, but I didn't, I made sure she couldn't get in."

"Ahh, good to hear. I say that is best left there. As for the 'seal'... well, things just can't get in anymore, but things can very well leave. While there is still some connection, my Bold Hunter's Mark will work for me at least, even if it doesn't for you."

"I see..." You say.

You take out the two Bold Hunter's Marks you had and hand them over to The Good Hunter, who would have a use for them. He takes them and thanks you.

"Well... it has been quite an experience indeed... very riveting. I should not keep Gehrman waiting, it is high time I leave." The Good Hunter tells you.

>"Farewell, friend."
>"Wait, before you leave, I had a question..."
>Write in.

Ask if he knows anything about the binding laws Amygdala mentioned, and who the formless one is. Also ask if he knows why Flora wanted to get in.

>>
>>4176998
Its kinda superfluous? Also really not a great fit for his fighting style. Or universe.

>>4176998

>>
>>4177013

>>
You held your finger up to halt The Good Hunter then. He watches you curiously and waits as you step away briefly into your room.

You quickly grab what you need and step out. You presented him with your old Blazing Gunlance.

"Here, you'll really remember us by this."

He looks surprised, and hesitantly takes the Blazing Gunlance from your hands.

"You really want to give this away to me?"

"Yeah, I think you'll do well with it."

"Well, you did perform some quite interesting tricks with it. I'd quite like to know how to master them myself..." The Good Hunter says, sheathing it onto his back. "If you really want me to, I'll do it. I'll take it and put it to good use."

"You'll get the hang of it, it's easy."

"Mm."

The Good Hunter draws a watch out of his pocket.

"Hey, uhh... I wanted to know something else." You say.

"Yes?"

"Well, first I want to know... have you ever spoken with... those 'Great Ones'?"

"...Hmm, indeed. The more I learned, the more I could hear."

"Oh good, so I'm not crazy then. When I went to finish Amygdala off, it spoke to me."

"What did it say?"

"It said it was going back to 'binding laws' of something it called the 'Formless One'. What was that about?"

The Good Hunter cupped his chin.

"Well.... Let's just say, even Gods have a God. In my world, Oedon. So transcendent it exists only in voice. Yet, it is everything." The Good Hunter says. "The ruler of them all, and one who is not the kindest. I'd gather it only makes sense the others would want to find a way out, but they can never escape Oedon. Everyone worships it, even if they don't want to."

"And the 'laws'?"

"The Gods had a desire for a child above all else. They lose their children, and they cannot create more. So they seek a replacement. The work of Oedon. The trials they give and endure to find that perfect surrogate are all engineered"

"What? Why would this... 'Oedon' prevent the other ones from..."

"I'll tell you why. It is no more than carnality. Oedon revels in it, blessing mortals with his children as he wishes, as much as he wants. He enjoys it so that he believes it is only for him. Yet, he does not entirely deny the Gods from having their children, he allows them to take one of his. But they must work for it, and you see what that leads to...."

"...That's.... wow, I'm glad I don't live in your world.... Not that I'm saying..."

"No, I take no offense from that."

"....So, is that why Flora wanted to come here?"

"What other reason could there be? Here, Oedon's law doesn't exist yet, and so Flora, or any Great One for that matter could have had as many children as they wanted here. But how well that would bode for this world? Not that well. It is good you locked her out."

"...It makes me sort of... feel bad... but I did the right thing."

"That you did."
>>
The Good Hunter looks up at the sky, to the bright sun. Soon enough it would be dusk.

"It will be quite a long time before I am able to see that again in my own world."

He closes his pocket watch and adjusts his coat.

"It has been a treat." He says, bowing.

You nod.

"Yeah."

"Now, I must go." He says, taking his Bold Hunter's Mark out.

"Farewell, friend. Your worth is always in the Waking World."

"Farewell." You bid him as he presses the symbol to his head.

Before your eyes, The Good Hunter gradually fades away and vanishes, leaving back to his world. Everything was settled now, neither yours nor his world would ever interact again.

You waved at that spot one last time before turning away. He was truly gone now.
>>
It was around seven in the evening time now. The sun was reaching dusk. Astera was still lively as the Star spoke of his battle to the crowd, rousing them with his little tale.

You were tired after that battle today, but not enough yet to warrant slumber.

First thing was first, you stepped over to the Commander's table and saluted the superior.

"Commander sir, I had a question."

"Give it to me."

"You mentioned something in your speech back there that really piqued my interest. Something about a Representative for the Guild."

"Yes, the Guild Representative, he's a member of the central administration of officials holding the position of Warden. He's a bit of an elusive figure, but he carries much higher authority than even the Admiral and I do, he's apart of the Guild's capital district in Dundorma, on board with the Great Elder himself. In fact, he's the one we answer to overseas." The Commander explained.

"He came after we forwarded the report on the Yama Tsukami operation and Tilokpia to him. Currently, he's at the Gathering Hub, though we did prepare him an office here in Astera, in the same building complex as the Star."

"Could I talk to him if I wanted?" You ask.

"Mmm... yes, but only if he allows it. And remember to always be respectful to the Warden. He has the power to demote and remove people under him from the Guild completely in an instant if he wants. Not that I'm saying you could anger him enough to do that, just that you should keep your nose clean at all times around him."

"Understood, sir." You nod.

You pull your Grand Guild Commendation out.

"Sir, do I turn this in with you when I'm ready to spend it?"

"If the reward you want to cash it in for is a weapon or armor, turn it in with the Second Fleet Master. If you want anything else offered, turn it in with me."

"I'll need a moment to decide, sir. I'm going to go check in with the Smithy."

"Very well, as you were."

Turning away, you decide to walk up to the Smithy, wherein you see the Second Fleet Master snoozing away on his conveyor belt until you tap his shoulder.

"HUH?! EH!? WHO.... Oh! Freelancer! Heard you did a good deed a while ago, but then I suddenly fell to sleep out of nowhere. I had the strangest dream, and some ideas came to me."

"Really now?"

"Yes... I can't wrap my head around it. I saw materials I've never seen before in my dream..."

"Materials? Like these?" You say, spilling the sum of your Amygdalae parts out onto his conveyor.

"By the Five, these are just those materials I saw! They must have come from that creature haunting the Recess... unnatural!"

"What were the ideas you saw?"

"Well, I got the ideas for equipment that could be made of these things. Let me show you..."

The Second Fleet Master pulls his notebook out, showing you hastily scrawled drawings, diagrams of the things he could make with Amygdala's parts.

"Alright, thanks." You say.

You exited the Smithy.

Walking across the waterfall bridge, you approach a booth manned by a Housekeeper Felyne, who sits up out of their lazy position at the sight of you.

"Hello."

"Meowllo! How can I help mew, Meowster?"

"I'd like to inquire about the private suite available, the one I can get from this." You say, showing your Grand Guild Commendation.

"Of course. What would mew like to know?"

"Could I still get it without the ticket?"

"Yessiry! Once mew reach Hunter Rank fifty, mew'll be able to purchase the suite for the low price of eighty theowsend Zenny."

"What does it have that the lower tier quarters don't?" You ask, wanting to get an idea for what you're in for.

"The Paw-rivate Suite features a spacious dwelling for mew to live in with paw-lenty of comfort and room to breath in! It comes complete with a small kitchen and dining area, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a pool and balcony, a relaxation space with artisan's made furniture, and stations for your equipment. There are meowso shelves for all the books you could want, a desk for work, a harp, a fine brick furnace, a shower, and a more sizable trunk for all your stuffs!"
>>
"The Private Suite even features a special station for putting together mewr' own Quests to put out as well!" The Housekeeper adds.

"Eh? What makes that so special?"

"Normeowlly, Hunters aren't allowed to pawt out quests of their own unless they get special permission to do so from a senior, and even that requires a valid reason. However, as the owner of one of Astera's three only Private Suites, you'd be able to do it without needing permission, so long as it has a valid reason, Meowster."

"For exampawl, let's say you needed some materials from a Meownster like Rathalos, but you didn't want to go get them meowrself, or mew don't have time. You could use the station to put out a Hunting, Slaying or Gathering Quest for such a thing for other Hunters to tackle for mew. If they succeed, you'll pay them the amount due you offered as the reward. If they fail, that's on them, so they'll either try again or some other Hunter will do it."

"What if somebody doing that got injured though? Wouldn't I pay their way to get healed?"

"Meowhat? Why would you do that unless you wanted to? We have the Doctor for that, he heals the patients that have to go to him for free anyway, it's his job. The Guild signs his paychecks, not his patients." The Housekeeper tilted her head.

"Uh.. never mind it. Anything else?"

"Meyeah. You can set a number for how many Hunters you'll allow to take your quest. Keep in mind that if you allow more than one, you'll be either paying double or triple for their efforts if they succeed."

"Additionally, you can leave the reward with me here for any Quest you put up using the station, so I'll automatically pay it to whoever completes your Quest. Depending on what you wanted to gain by putting up the Quest, I'll have it sent to your suite as well once it's gathered by whomever completes your Quest."

"Got it."

"So, have mew came to a decision, Meowster?" The Housekeeper Felyne asks.

Well, what do you want to spend the Grand Guild Commendation Ticket on now that you know everything?

Get the money. 400000 will be enough to pay for the 3 things and we be left 30000 of change, the only downside is it's gonna take a while for to get to HR 50, we should ask the commander how much we need till we're able to remove the HR limit to go to 50.
>>
>>4178573
We should also look into getting more Mantles.

"Well, that's pretty cheap." You say.

The Housekeeper cocks her eye at you.

"I suppose I could just afford everything I need easily cashing this in for Zenn-"

"Wait!" The Housekeeper says, looking over a piece of paper. "Oh, silly me! I got it wrong!"

"What do you mean?" You ask.

"I confused the prices. Eighty theowsend is the price to pay for a tier twew suite, such as your stay. The real price for the Private Suite would be..."

The Housekeeper flips a sign over her booth's window.

"...Two hundred and fifty theowsend."

Ah, so that's how it is...

>Attempt persuasion on her to bump it back down.
>Give her a stink eye.
>Accept it, even if it is a bummer, and then resume contemplating what to use the ticket for.
>Use the ticket to get the Private Suite.
>Write in.

The road to HR50 is a long one we probably gonna have enough money when we get there, get the cash and buy the weapon and the armor set.

Now hold on just a minute...

>Accept it, even if it is a bummer, and then resume contemplating what to use the ticket for.
Cash it.
>>
>>4178596
Eh, I should ask around about the price. Ask somebody whose gotten one if that much zenny is worth it.

I know you wouldnt lie. You could get in a lot of trouble for that right?
>>
>>4178605
Let's ask the star, he will confirm if the price is that much.

>Accept it, even if it is a bummer, and then resume contemplating what to use the ticket for.
Changing to this.

>>4178408
After we cash the ticket in we should also do this. I think we should spice it up a bit more though. What I mean is if we ask Atricia out we should take her somewhere different because the canteens are way too generic. I'm thinking maybe take her out on a picnic or something of the like.

Also, am I the only one who thinks the representative guy is a bit suspicious?
>>
>>4178596
Good point. Is this a scam or what?
>>
Well, that was a disappointment. But, if she did really get it wrong, then you'll just have to accept it and move on. You'll still have plenty of money for everything, especially factoring in the reward money you got from slaying Amygdala that was no doubt sent to your chest.

You leave the waterfall bridge, going down using the lift to descend. The Star was still sticking around after the crowd had vanished near the Commander's table, so you approach and ask him about it.

He tells you that he received his Private Suite for free, but that the prices you mentioned were in fact the real ones. That confirmed the Housekeeper isn't lying after all, so you feel a bit better about it now.

Thanking him, you step away and approach the Commander.

"Freelancer. Have you decided?"

Will you really cash the Grand Guild Commendation in for the 400000 Zenny reward?
>>
>>4179668
Yeh.
>>
>>4179668
I'm satisfied this is a good choice.
>Yes.
>>
>>4179668
Cash it.

You guys really should just sell the great oldy parts though.

Get a wall mount for the moonlight greatsword to. Even uncharged it probably looks swag as hell.
>>
"Yes sir. I'll take the Zenny reward." You affirm.

"Very well."

You hand your Grand Guild Commendation over to the Commander, who takes it and stuffs it into his vest.

The Commander nodded and turned around, walking over to a small chest on his deck, which he opens with a silver key he had. The Commander digs down inside, pulling out a large and hefty purse made of purple dyed cotton.

He gives the large purse to you, and you find it to be quite heavy as you take it, shifting it around in your hands to get a feel for the large amount of Zenny inside.

"Four hundred thousand Zenny, as you wanted."

With this much, you now totaled at 517617 Zenny. You were halfway to being a millionaire! That was something you only ever knew higher class individuals from cities to be. Hunters have it good...

"Thanks." You say, saluting before leaving.

"Don't forget, I need those urgents done so we can move onto the next phase." The Commander reminds you.

It was now dusk at last. The Sun was setting slowly.

>Go order something from the Smithy.
>Go make a down on the Suite so you'll get it as soon as you're HR 50.
>Go find Atricia and Vivianne.
>Go talk to Shara.
>Go talk to Brigg.
>Go see Tabitabi.
>Go sleep in so you can rise early.
>Write in.

Glad to see him back up and about.

While I prepare the next thread, why don't you guys tell me how that battle was. Does it match up to any of the battles before? What was your favorite moment?
>>

>Does it match up to any of the battles before?
It surpassed them. Having Amy trounce the royal duo showed us just how much shit we were getting into and you weren't afraid of punishing us for not using our brains.

>What was your favorite moment?
The suicide attack and the pact attempt. Speaking of the latter, are we going to see what would've happened if we took it after the quest is over?
>>
>>4180382
It went above the others in a lot of ways, this one the odds were against us in a lot of ways and the price for failure was very steep, it was interesting how Amygdala adapted itself to us and used every single trick of the book to get rid of us. My favorite part was when the star throwed Vance at Amygdala.
>>
>>4180423
Gotta agree with this, Amy's fight was simply sublime and had me on the edge of my chair. The artwork was fantastic as well.

Flock to new thread.
